please, this is a genuine question
so I’m white, but I’ve wanted braids for a long time, for a few reasons:
a. I have intense depressive periods and executive dysfunction that leads to massive tangles and matting, and I’ve almost had to have all my hair cut off a few times, and I think braids would be easier to maintain
b. I’m autistic (also hence depression and executive dysfunction), and the feeling of my loose hair is a huge sensory trigger for me and I feel that braids would alleviate that a bit
c. I’ve always loved the look of braids and everything and I genuinely appreciate the art form that is braiding
so I’m asking y’all, would it be okay to get braids? This is a real, genuine question and I really want an answer.
like I know they developed in lots of places, black and non-black, simultaneously but I have intense permissions trauma and need someone to tell me I won’t be bad for getting this hairstyle
I hope this comes off the right way, I wanna be as respectful as possible.

It was finally my wedding day, and in the morning of it, my mom and I had realized that I forgot to book my hair and makeup appointments. Not only that, but I spontaneously decided to go out and buy another wedding dress for the reception.
Since I don't drive, my mom was frantically driving me all over town to try to find a hairstylist and a MUA that would take me in last minute, and we were just having no luck with it.
At the same time, we were stopping at all wedding dress and fancy dress salons to try and find a ready-to-wear or sample dress that fit me well enough for it to not need alterations.
I kept trying out dresses and being too short for any of them, while simultaneously being rejected by every hair and makeup person I came across of.
I was stressed. My mom was stressed. We were both so stressed.
I looked at the clock and it was already 17:00, meaning I was late to my own wedding by 3 hours, and I was not ready to be seen by people at all. My hair was a mess, I had no makeup on and I've left my actual dress at home.
I don't even have a boyfriend.
