List of details I've noticed in TPOT 1
Because I miss Pie, Liy, and Stapy. Gonna start AFTER the Cake at Stake
A lot of the focus will be put on Death PACT Again because. That's my favorite team.
Also ran out of space, so all the Exitor stuff after the credits is in the reblog!
Details in the elevator scene (seen above):
The most obvious one is where Two opens the door and it hits Puffball's face
Pie gets pushed into the elevator by the crowd (she's just sitting there)
Alternatively, she might actually be sliding backwards by herself instead of being pushed by the crowd
Coiny is most likely the first object to get into the elevator, as seen here
Tumblr media
Fanny started out quite far away from the elevator but then scampered into the elevator. Also her legs barely moved
Pen was just out of the shot and had to haul ass into the elevator
Lightning waited for everyone (aside from Two) to get into the elevator before getting in there himself
Alternatively, an observation by @sweeswawswussy on twitter (a REALLY good one)!
lightning kinda look like hes contemplating to either float down the building with black hole or getting into the lift the face he made when he looks at black hole tho hhh looks like he felt sorry for him
BH didn't get in, because he didn't want to accidentally suck anyone up (which will 100% happen in such a small space), so he went down on his own
The rest of these are set AFTER the team picking scene (under the cut, because it's LONG)
When Two announced the challenge, everyone's standing in teams :]
Tumblr media
The painting in the lobby, next to the elevator
Tumblr media
During the elevator gets stuck scene with Just Not, while everybody reacted to the alarm, Pillow didn't. When the elevator falls, she's the only one smiling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remote added a face to her drawing after she finished explaining <:]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PIE HOPPED DOWN FROM THE STAIRS LOOK AT HER GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
Are You Okay's scene, yeah, let's go
This is shown in order! TB does not scream at all. GB seems excited at first, but after she got flung back, she's now. Not screaming in excitement. Eraser has the classic BFDI mouth in the first two flings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
COMPUTER ENHANCE THE PILE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
80% sure that this is Cloudy's pile, I think that's a painting/drawing of Cloudy? The shape seems to fit him. There's also Balloony and Woody in the background, and maaaaybe Roboty to the bottom right, I'm not too sure.
BACK TO DEATH PACT!!!
In this scene, Fanny's the only member who doesn't seem to be tired! She's not panting, she's up straight (can't really tell if she's sitting or standing), and she's >:C
Remote gets recharged later, that's why she's also up in the second pic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Just Not made it to the top, Book has the scrunkly old BFDI arm asset (the arm that's waving)
Tumblr media
FANNY, SHE'S SMILING EHEHEHEHEH IT'S NOT A DETAIL, I JUST LIKE HER!!! Also Pie opens up her eyes :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry for the Death PACT Again stuff, I really like them. Here's a shot of them getting thrown by Remote
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remote grabs Trees and tells him to get Black Hole
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TINY DEATH PACTERS...
Tumblr media
Okay, so I counted all the hits Two got in this scene, and here's a list of what happened:
Tumblr media
2 punches from Snowball
1 kick from Eggy
Another smack (1) from Snowball
1 jump/stomp from Marker
2 face slams from Robot Flower
1 slam from Bell
2 zaps from Lightning
1 BODY SLAM from Basketball
1 tray slap from Pillow
1 vomit to the face from Rocky (with Tree holding him)
1 jump kick from Foldy
1 knee strike from Basketball (GO BASKETBALL GO)
At least 10 stomps from Grassy (since we don't know if he kept stomping after the cut)
So in total, Two received 25 hits from these guys. The team that did the most damage is...
The Strongest Team on Earth with 20 hits! 10 from Grassy (the MVP), 3 from Snowball, 2 from Robot Flower, 2 from Basketball, 1 from Bell, 1 from Eggy, and 1 from Foldy!
A tangent here, from this screenshot, we can see that there's 6 floors in the hotel! Each floor is color coded too, red = lobby, orange = 2nd floor, yellow = 3rd floor, green = 4th floor, teal/cyan/blue = 5th floor, and the roof. Is a roof.
Fun fact, Basketball's lab from TPOT 2 is on the 4th floor!
Tumblr media
Exitor stuff in the reblogs!!

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a silly screenshot edit i made of one of my favorite moments :)
...because i organized my bank accounts and wanted to give one of my cards a special cover!!
Tumblr media
a brief note about applying the sticker to the card: the directions said to line up the sticker to the opening for the chip, but it went better for me when i lined the sticker up to one of the long sides of the card. (but of course make sure the sticker would be in the right part for the chip)
bonus behind the scenes on my making the pic under the cut :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i tend to make several lineart layers when doing REALLY CLEAN lineart so i can more easily erase overlapping lines. (the first screenshot has lines that "overshoot" because that gives nice sharp corners and line width variety, but i need to erase the extra parts of the lines)
(i like these screenshots because Lucifer looks extra clowny with this colorfulness)
i realized on this project, since the final lineart is just going to be black anyway, that i can use different colors for each layer and then LATER make the lineart black. (realized it after already making some lineart, so you see some black here)
Tumblr media
SO, RIGHT. VERY EASY TO THEN GET BLACK OUTLINES: JUST SET BRIGHTNESS TO ZERO. i usually use a program called FireAlpaca, and the way you do that there is: Filter > Hue… > drag the Brightness cursor all the way to the left
Tumblr media
in this screenshot, you can see some of the effects i added to Lucifer to give him the nice shadowed look that Hazbin Hotel has, as well as where i covered Charlie at the tip of Lucifer's hat lol
i included my layers on the right of the screenshot to show how i set up the outline layers in the final version: as you saw above, i named my outline layers with the color used for them, then, once i was done with the outline, i placed the "outline before color change" folder above the base black "outline" folder. that way, if i later notice a mistake, i can simply turn on the colored outline folder and i'll see what color that part of the outline is and jump to the necessary layer, rather than going on a quest turning off and on a bunch of layers each time
since i duplicated my outline folder before changing the outlines in one of them to black, the base outline folder already has the color names included in the layer names
NOT ALL DIGITAL ARTISTS USE AS MANY LAYERS AS I DO LOL. I GO WILD WITH THEM SOMETIMES. MANY OF MY PROJECTS HAVE WAY MORE THAN 80 OR EVEN 500 LAYERS. people just tend to figure out what works for them. i wouldn't be surprised if i end up using fewer layers in the future. or a lot more. or go either way depending on the project
so, yeah, this is a screenshot edit, so i traced the main part of Lucifer's body. for the background, i used two screenshots. had to cut together and cover some stuff. here's the two screenshots unedited followed by a scribbled version to make things work lol and then the scribbled version that includes some extra touch ups/covers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and some screenshots i took while working on this, when i unexpectedly got some cool-looking versions :3 first one reminded me of Day of the Dead looks (he DOES need to be more colorful to be more accurate) and the second is just rad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYWAY probably the most helpful thing to most people would be the colored outline thing talked about at the start lol, the stuff i bolded. that was IMMENSELY useful and i love black outlines more than ever XD

The Visual Genius Behind UY2022 [Animation]- An Analysis 🧐 (Long Post)
Hai there, hope you’re having a great day! Today on ‘Yuca Analyzes Silly Things (For No Reason)’, we’ll be talking the next half about how the remake uses different methods and techniques to achieve the fun aesthetic it’s known for as well as analyzing colors!
Note: There’s a lot to talk about when it comes to this topic, so I might not be able to cover ‘everything’, So I’m only analyzing sub- topics which comes to mind. And all of my sayings are merely observations based on what is shown and is not canonical fact in how the series was made (there’s the chance that a different approach was used as well after all). They are not confirmed unless specifically mentioned.
You can read Part 1 here!
And with all of that aside, let’s begin!
Tumblr media
First, We’ll divide the analysis into sections to make it easier to understand and explain, for this part we’ll be talking about:
But, first…
Colors, colors and colors!
Smooth and Fun Animation
Miscellaneous
Conclusion
But, first… …I want to talk about something I missed previously, which I was reminded by the notes in one of the reblogs, which is.. The shape of Lum’s eyes (I’ve thought of this before but I forgot to write about it). Lum’s eyes in the remake are a bit different to how it is in the later parts of the manga. There, it shares the same shape as Shinobu’s eyes for example, but here it looks more like her earlier eye design:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why this? I’ve though about it and I was reminded of a RT interview I had read where she said:
Tumblr media
Of course, Lum’s eyes changed as time went because of her artistic evolution, but I think this might be one of the reasons her ‘slanted’ eyes were kept, as in to pay homage to the early art style. It could also be because they wanted to give her more unique eye shape compared to the other girls…
Colors, colors and colors! Now onto one of my favorite things in general….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
…Color Palettes (and monochrome colors as well, but we’ll include that in this for now because I don’t want to create a separate section for that one)!! I absolutely love the remake’s use of colors!! In general they make scenes even more eye catching than they normally would, but there are cases where the use of color palettes are complete genius, which I will prove with a few examples…
Tumblr media
Our first example is from episode 1, when Ataru meets Lum’s dad. When the scenes swaps from Lum’s dad’s greeting to Ataru screaming “ONIII!!” The background with Mr. Invader (Not his actual name, but I’m calling him that because it’s easier) gets color paletted (I’m pretty sure that’s not a word but whatever…). If you look closely and if you’re familiar with Japanese mythology, you can see that Lum’s dad is colored red with light yellow horns…. Just like the actual Oni from the myths…
Tumblr media
I also love how well colors are used to elevate extreme emotions, most often shock or surprise…
Tumblr media
(Lmao, I just realized both siblings had the exact same SHOCK sequence… I do have to note that the duplicating method adds to the sequence as well…)
Tumblr media
That’s all the images I’ll show since these are pretty easy to find… The aspect that makes this better is the fact that since in the 80’s cell animation couldn’t have stuff like blending modes and special effects and stuff that digital animation has nowadays, they had to rely on color usage like this as well…
Tumblr media
So at the same time it’s like a nice little shout out to cell animation in general…
And also a moment of appreciation of how this scene was handled…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since the manga is in black and white, you can’t tell the difference between ink and blood since they’re both colored black. It’s a bait which is difficult to convey into anime because it’s in color and blood and ink are suddenly no longer alike because of the colors, the remake manages to convey it with the power of color palettes and monochrome colors it had in the first place as shown above for a well done bait joke… And finally, it’s just outright pretty…
Tumblr media
Smooth and Fun Animation Now to talk about the animation itself! First up we have a small detail I like. Do you know about the method used to make the animation extra fluid and kinda cartoony by drawing in something that doesn’t seem right in the frame but helps in the animation overall (I don’t know what it’s called)? Well, this particular method results in a frame or two in a scene to look like:
Tumblr media
It’s a method the original anime used A LOT for it’s characters, even for that particular era. Since most modern anime aren’t doesn’t have a cartoony style like UY, they don’t use it (they use other methods instead). So what about the remake???
Tumblr media
Yup, the remake has it’s moments as well.. The animation in general is like most modern anime with some cartoonish movements from more cartoony characters like Ataru (pictured above and) and Rei (Cow-Pig form). I also love how beautiful the animation is in the second half of episode 5 and 10, most of the details are pretty obvious there so I won’t talk about it, but here’s one of the smaller details I like…
Tumblr media
GIF by Kedyanime
I love how the clouds move slowly, like how it naturally would, like they didn’t have to do that yet they did it anyway and that’s quite the effort and it adds to the scene overall…
Miscellaneous This section is more about the miscellaneous aspects, or to be specific ,three other things I noted which also contributes to the animation aspect. First up, SFX. SFX is what you call the Japanese Onomatopoeia (or sound effects) which is written on screen. It’s mostly used in manga than anime because manga isn’t an audible type of media, unlike anime, which is. Because of that, not many anime uses it and only a certain do, which includes the UY remake. Not only does it add a bit more to the scene, but it also makes it more enjoyable because of the voice acting since the voice actors read every SFX out, where it sounds silly enough (in Japanese at least, the English dub is on a whole different level). Next up, Backgrounds. Okay, so when I started the remake’s first episode I was in awe as to how the backgrounds for the scenes look, like it’s very pastel compared to the saturated colors of everything else, not to mention, very detailed…
Tumblr media
Also, let’s appreciate how beautiful the backgrounds for outer space looks…
Tumblr media
Another thing I like is the stock backgrounds, stock backgrounds are pretty common in anime, but I love how the remake uses it to play up and convey the character’s emotion by making the stock lines move according to how their expressions elevate…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving on, Can we appreciate how retro and traditional it looks when they color like this (this is actually based on a method of coloring from the 80’s after all)??
Tumblr media
And finally appreciation for the beautiful lighting…
Tumblr media
Conclusion And that is All! The remake is absolutely stunning with very beautiful details which I can’t help but love and you can really see a lot of love was put into it. This ended up being more of an appreciation post than an analysis, lol 😅. Anyways, I apologize if I’ve overlooked anything or made any mistakes. If you have any doubts or questions about this analysis feel free to send an ask and if you want me to do an analysis about other characters, feel free to send an ask for that as well. You can check out my other analysis on my analysis tag.  And finally, likes are appreciated and reblogs are even more appreciated (seriously, please reblog this so more people can see this post, since I spent a lot of time on this!!). Hope you have a great day ahead!! :)

that’s an interesting and really cool observation— not many ancient stories of time travel to the past. do you have any thoughts to why that might be?
I wonder if it’s related to different values of the people, or maybe those who were storytellers had less regrets. Like what kind of background would an ancient storyteller come from? More likely to be of a higher class or a revered status. Or maybe there were stories of time travel to the past, but they’ve been lost to time/not passed down.
(Context)
I think these are some solid possibilities.
On not being passed down, that would make sense. Time travel narratives are complicated. Storytellers passing them on is going to be hard and will be difficult for a lot of people to grasp. Maybe popular stories we know today might have even once had time travel elements but were simplified over hundreds of years of retellings. It's one possibility.
I'm not sure about higher class people having fewer regrets. If anything, I think they might have more. Having social mobility means more opportunities to make mistakes. And being at the top means that when something goes wrong, you're more likely to be blamed and feel responsible.
And these were periods where one would think regrets would abound with so many wars, plagues and corruption everywhere.
The Photograph Theory
One possibility I've pondered is that technology might have changed how we perceive time.
The first photograph was in the 1820s.
Hans Christen Andersen's The Galoshes of Fortune was written in 1838.
The first colored photograph was was taken in the 1860s.
In 1881, came The Clock That Went Backwards. There are many more time travel books written after, leading to the concept truly taking off with The Time Machine by HG Wells.
One could argue that the pictures may have influenced how we view the past then.
Or Maybe Not...
But that might be too presumptuous. Trying to find patterns to explain things in hindsight.
A Supplement to the Journey to the West in 1640 depicts a sort of time travel to the past. But that's actually a dream so it's questionable if it counts. Also, Memoirs of the Twentieth Century was written in 1733 and depicted someone getting written messages from the future. So despite these playing with the idea of time travel in some ways, neither directly involve actually visiting or altering the past.
Maybe the relationship between time travel and the photo is coincidental. These later time travel stories might be evolutions of those mentioned above. (But probably not since I doubt A Supplement or the Journey to the West was that well known around the world, and Memoirs of the Twentieth Century had most copies destroyed.)
I like the photograph theory at least, but I'm not certain.
Maybe our concept of time changed because of how fast advancements were happening?
It's not that the world was static before the last few hundred years, but it's been changing faster than ever.
If someone writes a story set in the 1400s, it's not going to be that different of a world from one set in the 1300s. At least on a technological level.
In comparison, almost every few decades in recent history have been world-changing. Compare the 2010s to the 1980s. Compare the 80s to the 50s. The 50s to the 20s. The 20s to the 1890s.
It appears that the rate the world has changed has radically increased. This could then affect people's perceptions of this time.(But then, maybe that observation is just bias itself, a result of knowing certain eras better because they're more recent and we have pictures and videos from those time periods.)
Maybe this caused people to become more nostalgic for these lost eras? Eras they had personally lived through, and watched as the world changed?
No... this doesn't sit right with me either...
Even if technological advancement caused humans to become more nostalgic for past eras, that's not the only thing nostalgia should exist for, right?
What about nostalgia for kingdoms who were overthrown? For cities lost to natural disasters? To simpler times with loved ones lost?
Not all nostalgia should be tied to technology and advancement. Some should be more personal.
Back To The Future isn't about huge technological difference between the time periods. Not really. It's more a story about a kid learning about his parents and who they used to be, and making them into new people. The differences between eras are really just dressing on this personal story about Marty's relationship with his family.
And then you have Groundhog Day stories which are just... one day on repeat. These don't explore the speculative or historical side of time travel AT ALL.
Not to mention prophecy was a thing. People could always conceptualize getting information from the future. But physical objects and beings traveling to the past is unheard of.
Prophecy is Another Oddity
Almost every culture has stories involving precognition. There's always been interaction FROM the future.
But no time travelers anywhere. No spirits going back to the past. No gods. Not even objects until Memoirs of the Twentieth Century. So information can time travel in mythology, but literally nothing else can.
Despite time travel not existing in any fiction ever prior to the past couple hundred years, it's always been assumed by every culture on Earth that the future was something that people could just see.
In today's world with our understanding of physics, prophecy would only make sense as a form of time travel. Much like how light is just particles bouncing off of things and hitting us in the eyes, information about the future would need to be coming from the future. (Or be calculated somehow by understanding all the variables that could lead to that outcome in a predeterministic way.) But I don't think most ancient people saw it that way. And thus, never made the leap from information traveling back through time to entities and physical things traveling back through time.

Save Your Love - Ace Frehley
Tumblr media
Ace Frehley x Female Reader Warnings: Oral sex, daddy kink??, 0% proof reading, Ace Frehley is a lazy son of a bitch here, men whine and moan🤩
Additional information:
Y/HC - Hair Color
Y/EC - Eye Color
Y/N - Your name
summary: You bought a backstage pass from a band you’ve been dying to see, “KISS”. You’ve been day dreaming about a certain member from the band, but have no clue of what’s going to come next. Characters: 14,410
You can’t say you remember much, but god the things from the night before still have you on the edge of your seat wanting- no, begging for more. Let me fill in your curiosity and questions you have.
You had bought a backstage pass with your own hard earned money you had been saving for what seemed like years, hoping the ticket would be a good as you had dreamed. Though your mind would slip to more sinister and unholy thoughts when you thought of the ticket you had gotten.
You pondered if you would get to get up close, and personal to the man that filled cluttered your mind with something a normal human being who had never even met or seen the guy be worried about.
That man being Ace Frehley himself, god every-time you saw that man on the television screen made you god head over heels in almost seconds, you’d even dig your nails into your couch so hard it would leave marks. Look you couldn’t help it, the guy was out of this world, and he knew it.
You couldn’t even be left alone without daydreaming about how his hands would feel slowly running up your body, you know, getting real touchy just the way you liked it.
The day of the concert had finally arrived, you’d been excited all day. You spent maybe more than an hour dolling yourself up, knowing that your hard work would come to waste in the end.
You dressed yourself up in fishnets, a leather skirt that was threatening to flash your ass if there’s was one wrong move, a black tee, and the black leather jacket you took almost everywhere. Fuck it, sure you’ll be sweating your balls off, but god you took one look at yourself in the mirror and you swore you saw someone else. You looked like eye candy, someone that didn’t give a damn in the world on how anyone thought or felt about them, and sure did rock someone’s world.
Your Y/HC hair had been curled and teased, I mean you wanted to feel and look like those girls you saw on those magazines you’d get at the corner store for a quarter, the 80s were definitely a time and place to look like a rebel.
You nervously waited, watching the clock tick by, minutes felt like hours, and hours felt like years. You sat in your black Pontiac Firebird, gripping onto the wheel, waiting just another minute until you had to drive off to the concert you had been dying to see for months.
In the background played a song that most definitely did not help your thoughts that song being, “Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) by W.A.S.P”. There was just something about that song that made you go feral, it started something inside of you that had you itching just for a bit of friction- but it was too early for that. When the minute finally went by, you started up your car and made your way to the concert. You sang your little heart out to songs that came onto the radio, hitting your pointer fingers against the steering wheel with the beat of each song.
It seemed as if time had by quickly, because now you would be in line to get into the stadium they were playing in, it sure was a long line of all ages.
You earned a few stares and whispers for the clothing you wore, but you just kept your chin up and thought of what the concert would be like.
Soon you’d find out, but that came at a cost with your ticket that you had purchased.
You wiped the sweat from your forehead, now walking into a room where you were directed to go to after the concert. There were a couple of other women who were there as well, all talking about what they’d do after this. You couldn’t help but feel like eyes were digging holes into your head, turning your head around to see if anybody had been really talking you in, and low and behold your pretty y/ec eyes were met at the sight of Ace Frehley himself.
You could feel your palms start to get clammy and your face start to heat up. You wanted to punch yourself in the stomach, hating how you were already such a mess and nothing had even started yet.
The girls that had been talking rushed over to Paul, Peter, and Gene who were taking these women like champs.
Ace had walked up to you, which seemed strange, but it would only make sense because he was the only one that wasn’t being praised over as if he was a god.
Your throat got a dry, so many thoughts were rushing through your head. You didn’t know what to say, you were put in the spotlight and were already freezing up until Ace had broke the silence between your two.
“I hoped you enjoyed the concert, babe. I mean I caught a glimpse of you jumping up and down having the time of your life on the floor.” Ace had sprinkled a little bit of charm into what he had said. Only making you tense up more, before blurting out the first thing that came mind. “I only jumped so you would mess up.” You could see you had sparked something inside of him, Ace took a step forward, leaning closer to you, just close enough no one else would hear the conversation the two of you were having.
You gulped, knowing that you had been dead meat right then and there for not watching your words.
“I would’ve messed up if I hadn’t looked away from your boobs bouncing up and down. You know damn well, you had everyone’s attention around you. Yet you’re so clueless and unaware of your surroundings.” Ace’s hand came up to cup your cheek, “I know you were here for me, baby. Every time you looked at the stage, you just stared at me…wishing that I would notice you from afar, well you were correct, I did notice you by chance.” His face was awfully close to yours, you could practically feel his breath brush against your glistening skin. “How would you like to come with me to my dressing room for a little tour? I mean it’s my treat for the Little Missis.” Ace pulled himself away from you, removing the hand that he had bestowed upon you.
“I would like that, I mean at least it’s some where private so I can some you something I would only dream of.” At this point you had no clue on what you were saying nor doing, you just blurted things out without thinking.
Ace took your hand, god no one ever tells anyone on how just holding hands can send someone bliss, his calluses on his fingers and palm brushing against your soft hand gave you goosebumps.
Not even a second later he would be leading the way throughout the building to get to his room, there was many doors in each hallway, each being an important key to show.
When you two had arrived at Ace’s door, you could tell there was tension between the two of you. Ever since the gut feeling of someone staring into the back of your head to now, something felt off, but all answers would soon be answered.
Ace pulled his hand away from yours, to open the door, letting you walk in first before he did. With first glance you’d say this place is just a tad bit messy, all the makeup scattered everywhere on the vanity, and throughout the room you’d see a beer can tossed to the side.
You’d hear the door lock behind you, you were too busy to be staring at personal items of Aces to notice that he had slipped his hands onto your hips and pulled you in. It was a shock to you when you looked up into the mirror and saw the beautiful sight lay in front of your eyes.
Ace placed his head between your neck and shoulder, taking in a whiff of your scent. His nose brushed against your neck, only making you squirm in his grasp.
“Are you scared at all, baby?” He asked, before not too long getting a shake of the head from you.
“Do you want me to do more than just a silly old touch? Perhaps something that you’ve been dreaming of for me to do to you? You’d like that..wouldn’t you?”
As soon as he gets as about to finish his last word you nodded, never in your life have you nodded to something so fast.
As you started at yourself in the mirror, you could see Ace smile at your response, and to the sudden touch of your hands on top of his. You guided his hands slowly up your torso, his finger would latch onto the hem of your black shirt, slowly lifting it up as you guided his hands up your body.
The both of you got to hasty and forgot clothing items that would get in the way of this unholy act that was brewing up. Ace pulled his hands away once again, your shirt now bunched up, before he would pull your leather jacket off of you and tossed it to the side with his beer cans that laid on the floor as well. When finished with that he pulled off some off the items of his costume that would potentially get in the way.
His hands would grip onto your shoulders, and would turn you around so you’d be facing him.
In the heat of the moment you placed your hands onto his chest, crashing your lips against his, not even giving a damn about anything else but the buildup to something so beautiful. Aces eyes would widen before relaxing. He didn’t expect you to make the first move before he did. It wouldn’t take long for Ace to push himself into the kiss and make it deeper. Both of you were fighting for air, too busy being drunk on nothing but “sex”.
Your tongue would prod at his lips, before Ace took the hint and let your tongue slip on in, tasting a bit of alcohol on his tongue. That was the final straw for you, you broke and started doing things you’d only peruse in your dreams. You’d pull away from the kiss, taking a deep inhale of fresh air that wasn’t toxic to the either of you. You pulled your shirt over your head, revealing the bra you decided to wear to the concert which happened to be laced the best bra you had at the moment. Not long after you started to unclip the bra and slide that off too. You felt Ace’s eyes stare at your breasts, he acted as if he was a teenager seeing a pair of boobs for the first time.
You looked up just in time, before Ace smashed his lips against yours, his hands wondered up farther than last time, now grabbing your tear drop breasts and massaging them. His thumb and pointer finger started to pinch that sensitive bud causing you to moan into Ace’s mouth.
Ace removed one of his hands from your breasts, now running that hand into your y/hc hair before grabbing a good handful of your hair and yanking your head away from the kiss. “I wonder what else that pretty mouth of yours can do..Be a doll for me and get on your knees.” Ace demanded, as he forcefully pushed your down onto your knees. You obliged, getting down onto your red, weak, and tired knees. You placed your hand onto his thighs, feeling the stinging pain of Ace’s yanking go away, you’d watch as Ace started to pull down his tight black pants, soon revealing that he did not wear any underwear underneath his costume. He’d pull out his cock from out of his pants and started stroking it in front of your face.
You couldn’t help but stare at the sheer size of this thing, I mean he’s gotta be bigger and girthier than the other dicks you’ve seen . “Are you going to sit there and look all pretty or are you going to get to work, baby? You know I’m so tired from putting on a show for you. How about you show me how much you love Daddy.” He didn’t have to say that twice, your soft hands found their way onto his length, giving him a few pumps, before opening your mouth wide open for Ace, slowly letting his dick enter your mouth. You loved being such a tease, seeing how men would get frustrated and upset with you for being so slow just drove you crazy.
For instance, Ace was getting real tired with you for taking all the time in the world, he’d thrust into your mouth, making you take in ever inch, which made you gag. The vibration from that only made Ace hungry for more, his dick felt as if it were being mistreated from the lack of action.
Your eyes locked with Ace’s, you wanted to impress him, instead of just being what he called “a pretty thing that did nothing”. You pulled your head backwards, before taking it all in again. It wouldn’t be long before you started to pick up the pace, making your gag even more, your throat tightened up around Ace’s length every time it had entered your throat. Ace had his head thrown back, moaning like crazy, who knew getting a man to moan for you was so addicting, knowing that you were doing such a good job already, your hands grabbed a hold of his family jewels and started to massage them. “God, keep this up and I’ll reward you with a little treat, baby”. His hand made its way back to your hair.
You had drool running down your chin, dehydrated foam ran down Ace’s balls and got all over your hand that had been squeezing his balls. Your other hand that had been laying against his thigh, had to be put up to hold use, so you placed it at the end of his length, pumping him as fast and as tight as you could possibly go. You pulled yourself away from his swelling dick that was covered in a combination of your spit and his juices, now laying soft kisses against his red tip. “I bet you’re all pent up inside…no one has given your dick enough attention and so you chose me out of all people to do your bidding..” All he could do was stand there, nod, and whine from being so close to releasing. “How about you be quiet, babe, and help daddy cum in that pretty mouth of yours.” You shut up after he spoke, going back to worshiping his tip that looked untouched compared to everything else. Your lips enveloped his tip, your tongue ran up and down it, while you sucked him off, trying to get him to the point where you would be awarded with something no ordinary person would be bestowed upon, this was a gift, you had to be really special to be picked out of the field of thousands of other drooling girls to get this special treatment.
You’d hear Ace whisper sweet nothings and praises over your work, the both of your were sweating your balls off and you two had barely even fucked yet, you had Ace whimpering and cursing under his breath, and that’s all you needed to be drunk on sex. Ace all of a sudden grabbed the back of your head, shoving every inch back inside of your whore mouth, and cumming deep with in your throat. His hot seed ran down the walls of your throat, the taste of his cum was out of this world.
Ace would pull himself away from your mouth, pumping himself, and as if it was second nature you stuck your tongue out and open your mouth wide for him. Ace came on your pretty little face, watching your makeup being smeared and ruined by his seed. “You look ten times better with my cum all over your face than you did without it..” You had some dopey smile on your face, as your were still swallowing the cum that was still in your mouth.

oh yeah, now that it's closed, here's the post i wanted to make about that rt rebrand poll i made last week. this will be pretty long and kinda rambly, so feel free to just blacklist the "long post" tag :)
so like, i made the poll because of 2 main reasons: 1. because of a mix of comments i saw on other sites from people who also didn't know what color it was supposed to be, and 2. because of myself confidently believing it was some shade of orange until i switched from looking at it from my laptop screen to my phone screen.
it being a godawful shade of red/red-orange was mentioned in the article itself, which is why my question was phrased "what color do you guys think it is?" since either red or orange is both technically correct. going more into the specifics of the poll numbers:
Tumblr media
tumblr doesn't show the specific number of people who voted for any given poll option by default, just the percentage, so i went digging and followed this tutorial to get the raw data using firefox's inspect tool. the final results are, with 934 votes total, red at 551 votes (59%), orange at 303 votes (~32.4%), and other/a secret third thing at 80 votes (~8.6%).
red winning wasn't a surprise, really, but i was pleasantly surprised at how many people didn't have a definite answer or switched between answers like i did. i can't exactly pin down why that is, but if i had to wager some guesses...
the color scheme has a high chance of being a callback to rooster teeth's Popular Web Series Red Versus Blue™:
Tumblr media
and with a want/need for rt to rebrand, the idea of keeping the color scheme while also making it modern and pop out is really cool, but its execution is uh...
Tumblr media
i couldn't fit everyone's tags, but you get the gist. it fucking sucks, man.
as @god-of-arts-and-crafts has pointed out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
orange and blue are complementary colors, with them being opposite each other on a color wheel except the people who made the rebrand chose a deeper shade of blue??? they couldn't even get that right, oh my fucking god, so while its technical color is red-orange, it can be overwhelmingly orange when paired with a similarly bright shade of blue, which is what's causing many people eyestrain. hell, the first time i looked at the picture when the news dropped, it literally gave me a headache lol
finally, as i've said in the tags of a different post about this eyesore, this is an accessibility nightmare. with the worst color combination possible, the colors used for the new font and logo are definitely not ada-compliant. there are free sites out there to test images for general accessibility issues. contrastchecker is what i use sometimes, and below is what i got using red-orange as the background and blue as the foreground, and vice versa:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(both versions had the same ratio and color difference lmao)
the americans with disabilities act recommends that the contrast ratio be 7 at the lowest, but should ideally be higher than that, if possible. this is objectively and subjectively a very bad corporate rebrand, and i really, really want rt to break their "no jokes on april 1st because that's our anniversary" rule this year. if for nothing else, then just so that people who haven't read the variety article and/or the reactions on social media aren't jumpscared once the new intros/endcards/whatever else start rolling in.

heteronormativity + mike being bullied for being queer
season 1, episode 3
this scene stars with mike, lucas and dustin talking about el’s powers, lucas says “she’s not a superhero, she’s a weirdo” and mike defends el saying “why does that matter? the x-men are weirdos” - which btw sounds a lot like jonathan saying there’s nothing wrong with “being a freak”. there was a song playing in the background here, but i couldn’t find which one it was (it stops when troy and james show up).. if anyone is able to identify it, please let me know!
right after that little bit of dialogue about el, we get into heteronormative territory
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
of course lucas is not to blame here!! he’s just a child and it’s the 80s, he’s just teasing his friend because he thinks mike is crushing on el - even though in his mind he’s just taking care of her and she's the only one who can find will. (also very interestingly.."i love you so much!” / “you can’t even write it, mike” but i’m not gonna talk about the “i love you” bit, we already know how that went).
here, mike is expected to like el - to have a crush on her! he dismisses it, he doesnt indulge in it like many other boys would. he’s literally like “stop it, lucas! it’s not like that” and then..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
troy and james show up to bully them once again, targeting mike specifically about will’s disappereance and about being queer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so the entire scene goes: lucas is teasing mike about liking el, mike goes “what are you talking about??” and tells lucas to stop when he’s saying he loves her and wants to marry her. then here comes his bullies basically saying “yeah lucas, stop that. he doesn’t like el because he’s queer and his other queer friend is now dead!” mike tries to ignore him but troy makes him fall on his face and hurt himself - which basically a warning: and that’s going to happen to you too (yeah, it almost does when troy makes mike jump off the quarry. that was mike being hatecrimed because that’s what the whole town thinks happened to will).
so it’s no surprise that later on mike attaches himself to el, not only does everyone expect him to, he also wants to prove that his bullies are wrong. he doesn’t want to deal with them anymore, and if he has a girlfriend then he’s not queer and he’s going to be left alone.
and i feel like it needs to be reiterated everytime how every scene and bit of dialogue is intentional, the way this was set up is very deliberate. there is a reason mike gets homophobic remarks and slurs thrown at him (and regarding will) right after denying he likes el.
a little bit of color coding?
there is a LOT of blue in this scene, very green scenery with hints of yellow on their clothing. the girls in the back are wearing red, yellow and blue jackets
Tumblr media
mike is wearing a green shirt with blue lines, a muted/pale yellow jacket with red lining. the wall behind him is blue with white lines
Tumblr media
the most.. curious.. part is troy and james wearing blue and yellow, and troy’s shirt having red, blue and yellow lines (and his jacket looks a lot like the wall behind mike). the orange is interesting since orange is a combination of red and yellow. none of it is BRIGHT yellow though, only a muted beige (like something that is already there but you don’t notice it)
Tumblr media
bonus: i love that this scene ends with both dustin and lucas comforting mike right away by changing the subject to what they were doing earlier, looking for rocks <3

typesetting 'A Fire Shall Be Woken'
So I've been nibbling away at this project in secret for a month but I finally reached out to the author Ealcynn (who I don't believe has a tumblr?) and got the go-ahead to post updates so! here we go!!
Over the past year I have fallen absolutely in love with a LoTR AU fic series called A Fire Shall Be Woken, which is essentially a "for want of a nail" AU where Legolas was exiled from Mirkwood and has never met Aragorn. It is very well written and intricately detailed and it makes me cry every time I read it & after reread #3 I decided I should probably bind a copy.
Around that same time I discovered Cloches de Noël et de Pâques, a french book from 1900 illustrated by Alphonse Mucha. There's a wonderful quality scan available online and each page has a gorgeous floral frame & I said to myself: well. I'm never going to find a fic that's a better fit for these illustrations than this series.
So, step one, I went through the book and picked up some of my favorite frames that has winter/autumnal vibes, since both fics take place from October-December. There are about 80 pages of frames, but less than 40 illustrations because they are repeated with varying color schemes. I needed 19 illustrations to have one per chapter. I recruited some friends in the Renegade Publishing server to vote on the order, though I ignored a lot of their sensible advice to put my favorites at the front and back of each volume.
Then I had to do basic image editing to clean up the covers. The scans were good quality but were very grey. Each page had a dark and light side due to the curvature of the pages during scanning. So for each image I:
Cropped to size & auto-adjusted the white balance to brighten the background to white
Selected the transparent frame between sections and filled it with white
Used a layer mask on a duplicate of the image to lighten the dark side of the page, using an opacity gradient to make the transition seamless.
Covered the text frame and top illustration with smooth-sized white frames of matching sizes. I tried just filling these with white but at the reduced size I'll be printing the imperfections of the original linework were jagged and distracting.

Top 5 toy-driven anime for boys? For some reason I've been really noticing lately how much of the magical girl genre is essentially really pretty toy commercials and I'm kind of fascinated now by whatever the gendered flipside of that is.
Keroro Gunso
Tumblr media
Keroro's a funny case because it wasn't always a toy driven franchise, it was just a boy's comedy manga heavy on anime references/parody and romcom hijinks, but once Sunrise & Bandai decided to be a sponsor for the anime adaptation you better believe it became one.
One aspect you have a team of color coded alien critters that are screaming to be made into marketable plushies. Each one even has a corresponding human character they're best friends kids can identify with. So there's that merch avenue
On the other hand you have Keroro's great love of Gundam model kits, a trait they leaned into hard. The show served not only to promote Keroro's toys but also real world Gundam models and other Bandai ventures. The funniest part of the 3rd movie to me is when they're all building a giant gundam model to fight against the bad guy and as a test of their friendship - and when they finish an orchestral cover of "Tobe! Gundam" plays in the background. Gundam models can solve all your problems kids!
2. Digimon
Tumblr media
Where to even start with Digimon man...
It's strongest aspect as a toyline frachise was selling these guys with the ideal of having your own personal pet that can have conversations with you and all beat up your bullies, save you from danger, loves you unconditionally and help you grow into the best version of yourself. Digimon are the ultimate magical girl mascots if you ask me. While Pokemon has a big emphasis on collecting and working together as a big team - I like Digimon's spin on making it more personal.
3. SDF Macross
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I'm adding the "Women of Robotech" dolls because I think they're neat)
Macross may have more of a reputation for its music these days but in the 80's it was all about the giant robots & transforming planes! The VF-1S Valkyrie also went on to famously be added to Hasbro's Transformers toy line so when Harmony Gold wanted to make Robotech toys they couldn't sell it! 80's toy deals were a mess! Love it!
That all aside, the heart of Macross is it's drama and it's analysis of humanity adapting to weird af conditions. What do we fight for, how do we solve conflicts, how do we create, how to we continue to grow - the answer is to sing pop music until the aliens leave us alone. In my mind the planes & robots are just a fun bonus to everything else lol.
4. Yu-Gi-Oh
Tumblr media
I had a huge Yugioh phase in early High School so I gotta mention it even if I wasn't really into it for the toys. I liked the monsters and the characters/story and tried to get into the card game but it didn't stick. I didn't have a hard time learning the rules though.
5. Saint Seiya
Tumblr media
I'll be real, I've never been really into Saint Seiya's story or characters much, but I LOVE its aesthetics. If I was a kid in the 80s I probably would've gone nuts for this. A bunch of cool fighters named after stars and you can go and collect them all and collect all their cool outfits? I keep trying to get into it each iteration (the closest was probably Saintia Shou or Saint Seiya Omega) and it never sticks, but dang it looks cool

sorekara setting design
Tumblr media
Here are some notes on the development of SOREKARA's style and presentation. If you couldn't already tell, SK takes a lot of inspiration from 70's/80's anime, Nobody's Boy Remi being the reference point for much of it. I've always respected Dezaki for his monumental work so I've always wanted to pay tribute to it (especially the early stuff). I don't think I was as successful as I'd like to have been, but alas! There is still more to come! So without further ado!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was just talking about Dezaki , but now I shall talk about something completely different. To set the tone, I created the cat and the trolley setting first. The Girl's design should be plenty obvious (lol). But the background here I paid special attention to... I find the paints of Night on the Galactic Railroad to be very unique. They have a line less, airbrushed quality to them that blends in surprisingly well with the characters. I did some research and studied 児玉喬夫 Takao Kodama's work, as they were credited with setting design for this film as well as Genji Monogatari. Actually, if you look at Genji Monogatari's backgrounds, they have the exact same airbrushed quality! I had never done a background like this before (I am certainly not an environmental artist) but I think I did a fairly good job of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...I immediately switched gears and without thinking, went back to Dezaki works. I can't say I was very faithful at all. The night sky is easy to paint, with it's notable color spray and paint blots, but I diverged quite a bit with the watercolor textures. Shichiro Kobayashi is the artist I looked to the most, and this project made me appreciate him more than ever before. Just looking at his paints gets me emotional... The vibrant colors, the dramatic angles, you can just feel his reverence for life overflowing from the work. There really isn't anyone better. I need to study more if I'm to capture even a fraction of his skill. That being said, I did make sure to animate the backgrounds slightly with the sparkles on the water-- The reflection of light on water is my favorite to draw! Also, flowers are a very important motif (for various reasons, ohohoho). Kobayashi seemed to love drawing flowers, the paint around the edges give is a delicate look. Actually, if you look at the textbox...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of full-color CGs, I opted to use "postcard memories". This was a technique Dezaki used where he would show a detailed, scratchy-lined illustration to highlight important moments instead of fully animating them. It creates a really memorable image that draws out all of your emotions! I tried to emulate them (the more single-toned ones, that is) for the game. It was 1/3 Dezaki worship, 1/3 time-saving technique, and 1/3 excuse to draw lots of scratchy lines. I love scratchy lines. This way, I could make a lot of memorable shots that were visually interesting without overworking myself.
As another note, I looked to Akio Sugino's character art when drawing. The characters don't really look like Sugino characters, but I was emulating his shading technique with (once-again) the scratchy lines. Ah, I was in heaven. Looking at his older work, the linework is hardly ever clean-- but the rough, hand-drawn edge gives everything a tactile quality and the strong anatomy makes everyone so gorgeous. It's like an engraving come to life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the anime effects! On the left you can see soothat before his values are adjusted (very dark, isn't he?) and on the right you can see he is in-game, values adjusted with a more appropriate "anime" look. This is because anime cells are put onto a CRT screen, so they end up looking very different. I created an auto action in CSP to adjust the color grating and line quality of every asset before popping them into the game for the chromatic aberration to take effect. The lines are slightly crunched a blurrier compared to the original. It gives it a more "physical" look. The colors are fixed up-- you'll see there is no pure black. If you look at a physical anime cell, you'll see they more often than not do not include pure black. There is usually a tint of green or red in there.
The chromatic aberration filter... I don't know how noticeable it is to the average player, but the game actually has a built-in filter that creates a slight "chroma" effect to emulate the look of frames through a crt/light. This means the red + blue + green values of the entire screen are split up and adjusted to layer slightly off from each other, giving it a little visual interest. It was AN EXTREME doozy to put in, with my poor programmer coding it and re-coding it until the end. It seemed simple at first, but there are parts where the game zooms in which totally broke the filter! It made out eyes bleed! But it was repaired in the end, so blessing upon you, Sandy. You saved my life.
The reason why I looked to Ie Naki Ko/Nobody's Boy Remi specifically is because that's where I feel the most "pure" energy from. It is a show that leans incredibly hard on it's techniques to get by but because of that it really embodies what I love about old anime-- It has a selfless reverence for its subject that drives you to watch and surrender your heart. Dezaki's powerful directing, Sugino's gorgeous drawings and Kobayashi's majestic paintings come together to make a work that shines. The setting is truly at the forefront with the characters getting lost in the grandeur. That's the attitude I had with SOREKARA: "There are things much greater than us, so isn't it wonderful that we are able to see them side-by-side?" There are many animation techniques that are cost-effective while still being utterly beautiful, I would love to copy them someday but I wasn't able to go that far yet. At least not in the demo. There's still time, I suppose... Studying limited animation from old anime is actually extremely useful when creating visual novels. Understanding the placement of cells and their layering/movement has given me even more ideas for stories!
Tumblr media
I ended up going on a rant about anime again ^^" But it's so beautiful, you must now understand my heart going into the work. I always think of my characters and their journey, of course, but before that I think of the setting. I want the player to experience beautiful and mysterious things alongside their traveling companions. There is still so much more to make. I hope to incorporate more Dezaki-style techniques in this and future works. Please remember the true message of my works.... Not that love finds a way, or that your connections can transform your world...it's that....anime is very, very cool.
Thank you for reading 🙇🏽‍♂️

Your tags made me curious; what was it you misread in RWBY Volume 1, that 2 proved wrong, that soured your feelings on the show? I'm pretty neutral on it myself, but interested to know more.
TL;DR: I assumed it was a character-focused series more than an action series.
This sounds dumb, but my experience with RWBY went like this:
Someone showed up to a college club Halloween party in Ruby cosplay and showed the Red trailer so that literally anyone would know who she dressed up as
I forget the Red trailer
Someone recommends RWBY to me after Volume 1 wrapped up
I binge Volume 1 twice
I binge the scant supplemental material available and remember seeing the Red trailer before
Depending on how you count, something like 80-90% of the trailers are just the four titular characters kicking ass in flashy ways. That sets your expectations appropriately for most of RWBY. But I'd forgotten the one trailer I'd seen, so my expectations were set by episode 1:
Exposition about the world's mythology and magic things any reasonable author would have called magic
A relatively brief action scene, with beats meant to establish our protagonist's personality
An interrogation scene which establishes her place in the world (and more of her personality)
A brief scene with her and her big sister
Combine that with how many episodes of Volume 1 focus on character drama over action (basically every episode outside initiation), and the impression I had was that action was a secondary focus of RWBY. It's impressive, but it was mostly bait to get you to invest in its character arcs and stuff.
And volume 1 seemed to be setting up pretty good character arcs! Weiss alone got two—she's starting to accept a subordinate role instead of the leadership she expected from her pedigree, and she's starting to confront her internalized racism against faunus.
Anyways, by the start of volume 2 Weiss is basically just nice. I slowly realized that volume 1 wasn't the start of those character arcs, but the entire arc. "And then she wasn't racist any more." Similarly, in volume 1 I assumed that RWBY was setting up some kind of nuanced exploration of racism, but that got harder and harder to believe every season.
I remember making a post on a RWBY message board comparing and contrasting the first episode of volume 2 with that of volume 1. The tone and focus were wildly different, volume 2's putting more time and effort into a fight scene that matters way less, it's just an excuse to include some goofy action. On the character side, we're technically introduced to Emerald, Mercury, and Neptune, but not in anything like the depth volume 1's first episode gave Ruby, nor the mystique it gave Ozpin.
Everyone thought I was making a mountain out of a molehill. But I was vindicated in the end. Also, that message board is the one where mods deleted a thread I made asking a question because they thought the answer was too obvious to need a thread. Fuck that forum.
TL;DR: I assumed it was a character-focused series more than an action series.
P.S. The first time I watched RWBY, I saw Blake for a split-second in the theme song bit at the end of episode 1 and realized she was one of those faunus things the news lady had mentioned. I did not realize she was trying to hide this, which meant the foreshadowing for her Reveal fell kinda flat and Weiss badmouthing the faunus race to her face came off way worse than it was supposed to. I think this is a hilarious story, but a surprising number of people don't believe it. (How was I supposed to know they'd color the inside of cat ears differently? Ruby's skin tone is #FFFFFF and the background characters are silhouettes!)

Making a Monster: Smackoderm (or maybe Ogrephant?)
Technically, this is a WIP despite the main image being complete, because I’m planning on toy package graphic design elements, but this might be an interesting look into my “completed piece” AI process, for those interested.
I wanted to see if I could use Midjourney V4 to produce something resembling late 70s, early 80s toy package paintings, the kind you’d see on lines like MOTU and late-run Micronauts.
Long post after the fold.
To this end, I started prompting with:
bio-mammoth, cyborg mammoth/mastodon/elephant with glowing green bio-goo cannons on its back, huge metal claws, and glowing green eyes. barbarian warrior with green skin rides the beast into battle. battle painting, Masters of the Universe package painting, 1985, by frank frazetta and earl norem, pulp fantasy painting
I didn’t really get my Bio-Mammoth. Complex ideas are difficult for text-to-image at this stage, and I intentionally introduced a lot of conceptual chaos with my image prompts, which included such things as the MOTU slime pit, a beast of the apocalypse, and yes, a Frank Frazetta of a mammoth.
Tumblr media
A couple of attempts got me at least a few that were pachyderm-like (the other weirdos aren’t necessarily wasted, as I can adjust prompt and evolve them into their own creations)
Tumblr media
I wound up developing about five strains of the concept, tweaking the prompt as I went, until one started to produce results that fired my imagination.
Tumblr media
Not just in that it was a cool beast, but in that it had the right look for an early 80s 5.5″ fantasy toy release. A battle-steed creature, with the not-included figure riding on the back (probably in an awkward bucket-seat that leaves little room for organs), four easy-to-lose tusks. Just scary enough to be cool, just goofy enough to be fun.
In all, I enlarged about eight of couple of dozen variants of the image I worked up, and began compositing and repainting. I knew I was going to need more real estate for packaging so there be space for logos, text blurbs, feature call-outs, etc.  So once I got the basic chunks’o’phant squared away, I reposition, and start expanding out and replacing background features.
Then I run into the problem that the humans generated in-picture are all pretty much mush, which isn’t shocking given they’re small portions of the overall composition.
So after upscaling my main composition, I start working on the hyena warrior.
Tumblr media
an orange anthropomorphic hyena warrior, gnoll, with a bioluminescent blue spots, shouting, 2/3 portrait composition,, Masters of the Universe package painting, 1985, by frank frazetta and earl norem, pulp fantasy painting
I didn’t spend as much time iterating the hyena, since he was going to be small and I’d have to retouch his hands extensively regardless. Eagle eyed viewers may note that most of what I’ve got here isn’t quite what I requested. AI art is bad as specificity, one of the many things humans do better.
For funsies, here’s a hyena I didn’t use.
Tumblr media
I was playing this one free-and-loose, and rolling with elements that looked cool, rather than those that matched my initial vision. If I’d been more intent on a specific result, I’d have prompted more generically and leaned more on manual reworking. This time, however, I was steering with, rather than against, the current, so as to learn how the AI responds to different kinds of requests.
Once the hyena-rider was in place, I did work compositing him in, and did some more background touch-up. After that is color-adjusting and balancing (I like to shift the darker values of the piece toward the blue to add depth), another round of cleanups and tweaks, and then pushing it out for all to see despite not really being sure its “done.”

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MUSTACHE
So recently I went digging back through the original comics and I found the moment Jake decided to put on the ol’ push broom. And let me tell you… It’s a nice look. But dude is going out to his cab every day and taking the time to apply a fake mustache so that it looks good and real. Then he goes back to his (steven’s) home and takes off the ‘stache.
IT TAKES TIME TO PUT ONE OF THOSE ON. Like, putting on any fake hair to make it not look like a silly costume $5 wig is EFFORT. You have to get the expensive kind, to get the spirit gum out, to make sure it isn’t going to slide off if you get sweaty or rained on. Brush it right. Maybe even apply a bit of makeup around it to blend the edges in. Then you have to take care of it! You can’t just toss it in the glovebox or drink holder! Lay it flat and protect it from dust and things. Jake took care of that thing!
So naturally being me and absolutely obsessed, sleep deprived, and tired of reloading tumblr over and over again at 3am waiting for someone to wake up so I can get my Moon Knight fix…. I sat down and over-thought about it.
First, I want to point out just how different Jake looks from Marc and Steven.
Comic book Steven looks like a classed up Marc and Marc looks like a man that crawled out of a dumpster that used to be on fire and is now mostly just expired takeout, raccoons, and ash. Show Steven looks like someone you want to hug and read a fashion magazine once but got confused and now just wears fun shapes and colors because it reminds him of a show he saw once on TV in the 80s, while Marc looks like he thought a good disguise was wearing a hoodie and slicking his hair back.
I digress.
But Jake? Jake is a man that set out to look like someone else. To build his own identity. In the comics he looks solid. Set jaw, the mustache, the hat, the style. He looks like a friendly uncle (depending on the run). So different from Marc’s scowl. From Steven’s clean shaven class. He feels like one of the common people that can blend in. To be friendly and enjoy himself.
In the show he honestly looks so amazingly different. The thin lips. The sharp jaw. The fashion choice that even makes his body build look so different. He looks taller, slimmer, lanky, and fast. From a distance Marc is shorter appearing but he is also built. Steven looks softer and squishy. It’s amazing what posture and fashion will do to change the shape of someone.
But even then, Marc and Steven are so similar in appearance. Probably beyond easily confused for one another if you aren’t in the know to check the eyes and eyebrows. Aside from Steven’s curls flowing wild and free and his fashion choices, he has no problem with this. He’s never needed to have a problem with this. Steven has always been his own person and not aware of Marc.
Marc makes his difference known by his choice in fashion that makes him comfortable and his hair. But he’s no stickler for it. He’s never needed to have a problem with this either.
So why does Jake? Let’s look past the obvious “They are different people and of course headmates are going to have their own view of themselves”. Let’s actually look at Jake’s history.
Unlike Steven, Jake has been very much aware of the other two while they aren’t aware of him. Can you imagine the number of times he has had to pretend to be either of them? Keeping his head down, mustering his best accent, or faking a smile as he left a situation.
Jake is unknown. Unthanked, unappreciated, and overlooked. He carries his own trauma and he keeps them alive. He sees himself as different from the other two. He is the force that holds it all together in the background. He’s also lived his own life, even if Marc isn’t aware of it.
It is possible Marc has far more missing time than he really thinks. He could easily miss days or months and think nothing of it. Maybe Steven was having a go of it. He could even miss a year and not care. Marc is so in loathing of himself that the less he fronts in his lowest of times the happier he is. It’s easy to see Jake taking that time to not only protect Marc, but to steal a little time for himself too.
Over this time, Jake notices he can grow facial hair easily. It probably looks good. During certain periods having a mustache was considered very adult and in high fashion. It’s easy to change a face with just a little facial hair. Easy to look in the mirror and see someone else. To shape it and decide what you want to look like.
Steven developed his own identity and clung to it so desperately. His name tag, his name spelling, being acknowledged for who he is. This was Steven’s way to say “I am Steven. I am my own person. I am my own identity.”
Jake found his own identity through how he looked. His name isn’t as important to him yet because no one knows who he is. But they can see him. He can be himself with a hat for comfort. A popped collar. A bit of facial hair. He can feel like this is his own body. He can take care of the body. He can lovingly groom it. He can dress in things that make him comfortable. After all, Jake is the protector and he also protects the body. I wonder how many times he’s been slammed to the front only to find the body dehydrated, unshowered, filled with alcohol, and scarred up.
My headcanon is that Jake takes pride in taking care of the body. Once Steven is in the loop, Jake will start to shut down the staying up all night business and enforcing hydration breaks. This is how he loves.
So why the mustache? An easy way to move further from Marc Spector’s face. Also a way to let them switch from one face to another. Comic book Jake is NOT a fan of Marc. The only one that dislikes Marc more is Marc. So Marc wears the mask to hide. A way for him to pull on his own identity.
The comics have been all over the place about the relationship between the three. Understandings, alliances, arguments, and attempted takeovers. But one thing they have always agreed on is that they each have their own autonomy.
Jake might even have body dysmorphia. Honestly, Marc might have it as well, but for different reasons and in different ways. Jake sees himself in his headspace and when he is looking at the body, it doesn’t quite line up. So he is going to do his best to feel comfortable in the skin he is given. Marc’s problem is that he can only see the bad in himself when he looks at the body and does what he can not to see the body at all.
Have you ever stared at your reflection and thought, “This isn’t what I’m supposed to look like?” It’s a surprisingly common thing. It’s also quite common in autistic individuals.
So going back to the show, Jake’s sense of style is SO different from the other two that it’s easy to see him trying desperately to find a way to feel at home in his own skin. The gloves, the jacket, the hat, the collar. It isn’t just about style, though that helps. Jake is making his own image and doing his best to look in the mirror and see himself.
I feel like I’m being less coherant than normal (which is saying something). So I’ll probably come back to the body dysmorphia thing at a later time if people think there might be something more to it to explore.
In the mean time, appreciate that lovely ‘stasch. Let Jake have his moment in the cab carefully putting it on his face and lining it up perfectly. He’s Jake Lockley, new york cabbie with a heart of gold and a fist of steel.

Tumblr media
Our Boomer generation grew up with television because we were the first generation to have a TV in our living room. The 1st television was invented in 1927, but wasn't made popular as a device for the public to buy, until the late 1940's. I don't get the "Ok Boomer" from too many younger people; but IF I did and it was in the tone of this "arrogant little shit", I'd have asked the same thing: "What are YOU doing for the next generation??" My sons are both Gen X (40s & 50's), and our one son's wife is a Millennial (she's in her mid 30's). But she is quite aware of what went down in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's...and not just the "sex, drugs and R&R" parts. She knows that War and Hate is a useless waste of life, treasure & time. She knows that a simple life is really better and that includes a lifestyle of eating healthy food, getting useful exercise, promoting the respect for all people no matter their skin color, theism, atheism, gender identity or ethnic background. She and my son are raising their two children (boy 10, girl 5) with those same wise choices, and I couldn't be more proud and grateful for my son's and her choices. I hope our grandchildren will grow wiser than their parents, just like my sons and daughter-in-law have done the same with us and her parents. That's all a 73 year old boomer like me could ever ask for. ☮ peace 💜 love ☯ harmony ∞ infinity and music 🎵 🎶 🎶 🎵

HC'S: Origin's of Eddie's music taste part I
Tumblr media
This is something that I've thought about CONSTANTLY since Eddie's introduction! part of the reasons why I fell so hard for him is because it's taken me back to my classic rock/80's metal phase from when I was a pre-teen/sad & lonely teen, and this is why I relate to him so much. I'm always referencing songs in my fics but now I really wanted to break down his own music taste and how he came to it! 🤘 Acording to tumblr my hc's were too long so I'll post these in two separate parts.
Influenced by his uncle definitely!!
His parents listened to whatever was on the radio and it wasn’t a healthy environment overall, so Eddie didn’t have any exposure or interest in creative outlets or art in general
Moving with Wayne restarted his life in the most positive way; I headcanon Wayne took him in around 8 or 9 years old.
On his first days living with Wayne he was glued to his uncle by the hip, always nearby.
If Wayne was doing some work or just chores on the trailer, Eddie would trail close behind him like a little puppy.
One time Wayne was fixing some pipes in the kitchen and he wanted to distract Eddie with something so he wouldn’t get bored just waiting around for him, so he asked Eddie to choose a record to play while he worked.
Eddie was immediately curious about all the colors and the textures of his uncle's vinyl collection.
But one record that caught his eye because of the design was Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) by Pink Floyd: a black background with a prism on the center with its refracted rainbow colors on the right side.
Gingerly he placed the vinyl on the turntable and was completely hypnotized by the sounds that engulfed the trailer as soon as the needle grazed the record: a ticking clock, droplets of water, the sound of a cash register, a muffled voice speaking and laughing and a singer violently screeching and howling.
Where was the music??? Eddie was super confused.
But then the sounds merged seamlessly into the easy guitar and soothing percussion of the song that came next, titled ‘Breathe’.
Eddie was compelled to just sit on the living room carpet in a trance, getting lost in the album artwork while listening to the absolute musical journey that that record was.
He literally felt like he had been taken into a trip around the galaxy; each song took him on its own little journey, as its own cinematic experience happening inside his head.
His favorite songs from that album are Time because of all the clock sound effects and the eerie percussion at the intro; The Great Gig In The Sky because of the absolute power of the vocalist; Money because of the deep bass riff that drives the song (as well as all the sound effects) and Eclipse because it’s short but it’s heavier and ends on a very epic note.
He was also super perplexed but curious about the lyrics of that one; at the time he didn't understand but they somehow spoke to him deeply:
And all that is now // And all that is gone // And all that's to come // And everything under the sun is in tune // But the sun is eclipsed by the moon
Wayne laughed when he went to check up on him, seeing him all wide eyed with his curls sprawled on the rug, looking up at the ceiling with a dopey grin on his face.
“You liked that?” Eddie could only nod and replied, “what was that?”
Wayne proceeded to explain a bit about Pink Floyd and how they were this new movement in music they were calling ‘prog-rock’ which was more experimental than bands he's played around the trailer before, like The Rolling Stones.
After that Eddie’s newfound love for music bloomed and he began his own journey into figuring out what he liked.
Of course The Wall (1979) is another one of Eddie’s favorites from Pink Floyd; it speaks to him more as he grows older because the concept is the ultimate anti-establishment album. Another Brick In The Wall PT. 2 would definitely be his favorite song from that one:
“We don't need no education / We don't need no thought control / No dark sarcasm in the classroom / Teacher, leave them kids alone”
Other bands that he picked up from Wayne: Blue Öyster Cult, Fleetwood Mac, The Stooges, The Rolling Stones, Cream and Deep Purple.
But a band that he discovered by himself around that time, which introduced him to heavier music, was Led Zeppelin.
Eddie began hanging around at the record store all the time, always browsing the rows and rows of albums in his own little daze in a sea of graphic illustrations and photographs and colors, imagining the different universes that each record held within. Would they be as magical as that first experience that Pink Floyd brought him?
And such a place could be overwhelming, like, where do you even start? There are so many choices.
Until one day, after he had saved up his allowances, he headed straight to the record store, ready to buy his first album on his own.
🤘🤘🤘 to be continued... 🤘🤘🤘
