I think that Celiac Disease is a great example of why people prefer to self-diagnose and treat themselves.

Doctors test for Celiac Disease by having a person intentionally eat gluten for three weeks. This is Hell for someone who can't properly digest gluten. It makes the person feel bloated, gassy and sluggish.

In severe cases, it causes nausea, vomiting and brain fog.

Imagine intentionally inducing these symptoms in a patient to see if their body can't handle gluten. This is sick. This is the opposite of healing.

So, many of us are deciding to cut out bread and processed foods on our own. We see that we feel a ton better, have more energy, and our stomachs aren't sticking out for no apparent reason anymore.

I can't tell you how frustrating it is to walk 10,000 steps a day and eat 1,500 to 2,000 calories on average, yet see no results in my body or my weight.

My stomach was hard and inflated no matter what I would do. Finally, I am eating mostly Paleo/Carnivore now, and my stomach feels so much better. It isn't hard to the touch. I couldn't even suck in my stomach. I felt full all the time.

So, the moral of the story is. We are responsible for our health. We have to know our bodies and find ways to heal ourselves. We can no longer trust doctors in this country.

very disappointing to see the major figures of the "anti vax" movement who (rightfully) complained about the intellectual dishonesty of reducting the criticism of the vaccine to "being anti science" eventually endorse the exact same dishonesty by reducting calls for ceasefire and the defense of Palestianian CIVILIANS being murdered before our eye as "defense of the Hamas"

Truly shows you that unlike what those people pretended to be, they truly weren't about defending "truth", and that their integrity ends where their own personal bias starts

you would think "oh this must be in response to some complex statement" and you'd be WRONG

It can't be understated the level of psychological turmoil Peterson inflicts on the part of his base that came for mental health support and got thrown into a big ball pit full of Nazi's who all support Peterson and Peterson is actively fostering with glee.

I usually don't do the whole New Years Resolution thing, but this years it's different. Dr. Jordan Peterson has a "top 100" list of recommended literature, and I am going to go through them one by one, to see how many I can complete. I am including film adaptations and listening on Audible. So many of these I remember reading decades ago as required reading for high school or my college literature classes, but most will be first time reads for me. The last 2 days I read A Farewell to Arms (Ernest Hemingway). I still want to see both versions of the movie, one made in the 1932 with Helen Hayes and Gary Cooper, and another made in 1957 with Jennifer Jones and Rock Hudson, the latter being more fluff of the two, according to critics. The ending of the book slayed me. But it is great fun to read sad books and day drink. Here is a sampling. The rest can be found on his website.
