I'm not a huge fan of the Tazercraft mental link headcanon (it's just not my cup of tea personally), HOWEVER—
I can't stop thinking about Pac in Alcatraz with his back to the wall as Cell approaches him with a cold smile on his face and a bloody knife in one hand, and Pac completely blocking Mike out because he knows something terrible is about to happen, and if he can't save himself then maybe he can at least spare Mike the graphic gory details.
And even when he’s lying on the cold concrete floor in a pool of his own blood, Pac is still trying to block everything out so he doesn't project his pain to Mike through their mental link. But ultimately, that's what scares Mike the most — the sharp flash of Pac's terror for an instant, and then silence.

I'm so curious what is your writing process like? I'm floored by how fast you write yet the quality is always sososo high. Do you have a beta? Are you a god? What..how..😱
Please get some sleep
Ahhhh Hi Bestie!
Um you're so sweet???? This is so nice??? Thank you so much??????
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION
....probably don't fully approach writing like I do if you're trying to write because I approach it like a trash goblin in a human suit trying to make things BUT here's what I do!
When I get the idea for a story (fan fic, novel, screenplay, whatever) it usually comes character first. There's someone who intrigues the hell out of me whose story I want to write and then I just have to figure out what their story is. The second part usually comes pretty quick, at least one or two major story moments and the climax and the resolution at least. Then I think through how to get them there and what kind of journey is going to be the most impactful for them. Then I write that down in the form of a story map where I lay things out beat by beat (these notes are usually very vague, like 2 or 3 words per chapter, my vision is far from fully realized) and then write down some basic stuff about the main characters. Actually write it, too, I've got a real cute lil' notebook that I have my story notes and any poems I've written lately (and my D&D notes) in it and I carry it around everywhere when my brain is feeling particularly creative.
This is where the trash goblin takes over because then I just write it. The story map is pretty fluid, I don't think I've ever stuck to one entirely, it always shifts and changes depending on what I get up to narratively. Sometimes that's just story beats stretch longer than I thought so they span several chapters instead of one, sometimes I change my mind on something altogether (like in Yearling, the stable incident with Simon was originally something else entirely but I was like "wait no that doesn't make as much sense, this feels convoluted, doing something else now" and took place in a slightly different spot). When I'm writing, I kind of picture what happens in my head like I'm watching a movie. The characters have their conversations, I write those down, describe how they're feeling, what stuff looks like, etc. The downside to this is the movie of this shit is literally ALWAYS ON in my head and will NOT go away until I write it. The angst that's coming in Yearling? Been playing in my head on a loop for weeks. IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE SEND HELP.
Once I get a chapter done, I give it a quick read mostly for grammar and stuff and to make sure it flows right (and there aren't a bunch of repeated words and stuff - I was a copy editor previously in my career but copy editing your own stuff is tricky so this is a questionable process) and then I post it. No betas, no editors besides myself, generally very little rewrites (I'll rewrite a chunk of a chapter once every like 20 chapters or so, it's rare.) I just throw all these words on the page and then hurl them at y'all and you're kind enough to make super sweet comments like this!
I'm so happy you think my work is high quality and written quickly!! I think I've finally adjusted from the schedule I was keeping for Lavender so it no longer feels like I'm slacking only putting out 2-3 chapters a week but it still doesn't feel like I'm quick lol so thank you for that, too!
And as far as the sleep goes? You saw nothing, definitely not me posting at 3 a.m., don't tell my therapist, everything is fine here.
JK I'm largely just fine! I've always been a night owl and function fine as long as I get a total of 6 hours of sleep, even if that's between a nap and an overnight sleep. It's probably not the best but eh, I'm having fun.
Thank you again for reading and for being so kind!! So happy you're here. Love you!!

Penacony: Star Rail's Haunted House
And like one trying too hard, you're left only reflecting on how cheap and fake everything is and not in the ways the story wants you to. Oh, and for my normal fans who like it when I rip something apart, this blog is for you.
I'm starting with my non-spoilery thoughts and to start that off, I do want to say that this is better than the Loufu. The game, from character designs, world design and just general work put in has never looked so good. The flavor on everything is top notch and it is a welcome escape from the bland, near industrialist feel of the Loufu. The game design is included in this too with some of the best dungeons we've gotten, not a bad elite in the bunch (as a Fire Trailblazer main, the monkey makes me laugh) and a lot of charm even in the superfluous mechanics you can mostly ignore. The writing also takes a step up as a lot of characters have personality... Kind of.
And this is the crux of the issue. By the end I was left with the feeling that a lot had happened, a lot of words had been said and I'd met a wide cast, but that little of it informed me of anything. Penacony is meant to be a mystery but we are not an investigator. We are just being shouted at constantly "ISN'T THIS MYSTERIOUS AND DRAMATIC!?" to the point where I look up at them and go "Maybe, if you actually let anything be human for more than five seconds." Which I will actually admit: It was human for about half of it. The middle of 2.0, from once you get into the dreams to when the first true twist happens, reminds me of the best of Belobog. Hell, there is a scene in it that is literally the best in Star Rail with how genuine it feels and how real the heartbreak of it is.
But then the lights come on and you see how that scene is nothing but smoke and mirrors too. It is a trick that made me FAR more upset than anything on the Loufu frankly but after the Loufu, it also has eroded a lot of my trust in the writers for their main content. That their narrative lens is extremely narrow and entirely against anything I enjoy in media.
And so I'm left wondering if I'll end up regretting having bought the Battle Pass at the start of the cycle, despite just a week ago having been pretty certain I was with Star Rail wherever it went.
That is enough beating around the bush though. I'll put a good bit of space to let people who don't want spoilers to leave and then I'll get into specifics. 'Kay? 'Kay.
Firefly and Robin are two sides of a coin but both are mistakes. I know it might seem weird to start here rather than talk about the build up, setup, etc. but... Why would I? EVERYTHING is built up to the tragedy of Firefly and the mystery of Robin. If we really must though, here are my impressions of each of the other characters:
Black Swan: Fuck if I know. Genuinely, I don't know. I want to know, especially after having put 150 pulls into her banner but the game is so hell bent on shifting gears with her so constantly and letting her not react to anything that I didn't get a read on her, despite being the character we probably spend the second most amount of time with in this patch. She is at least nice and kind of likable but I don't know how much of that is an act.
Sparkle: Cryptic Bitch. Move on.
Acheron: Okay, I will be fair and say I do like Acheron. I've talked to another person to find out that her red dialogue changes depending on your choices with her. From the white dialogue though, she feels like a Shounen Lancer. The serious one who also has a quirk that lets you laugh from time to time. The tease of her being an Emanator is interesting but also like... How the fuck is Sam even alive for five seconds after she draws her blade then? Unless she just didn't? Emanators are literally the absolute most powerful things in this universe besides the aeons themselves though. She doesn't get to be an Emanator and not be strong game.
Sunday: Cryptic and Evil. Move on because we still know fucking nothing about him.
March 7th and Welt: About as useful as on the Loufu and at least aren't taking up screen time on the Loufu. Welt continues to be a brick, especially with his voice acting and March 7th may as well not be here.
Himeko:
...
Lets out a long, slow breath. We'll talk about Himeko later. Let me just say that she really highlights a problem with a lot of the statements the game makes about us and the express in this patch.
Sam: Not a character and a fucking awful boss fight. AT BEST he is more of a murder hobo than BLADE. The dude motivated by his desire to murder one person. Move on.
Aventurine: The worst. Just the worst. He comes across as an asshole who has zero power, zero charisma and has literally bought every friend, ally and favor that he's gotten in the past ten years. He is not a gambler as his bets are always done deals because he won't make deals he'll lose. He also has way more knowledge than ANYONE else despite having no allies, no one liking him, no powers that we've seen and yet knows the secrets of the memory zone better than the PERSON WHO HAS POWER OVER MEMORIES. Because Black Swan doesn't know Aventurine's truth. She leaves that up to you. It makes for this petulant asshole who is just a mastermind because the game says he is, and NEVER proving it, the last person you'd want to trust but the one you're forced to put your faith into and ally with no matter what. I literally got a joke ending because I told him to piss off.
But let's move on to the two who mattered. Or that we are told mattered, right up until their deaths. Robin is the much easier to point out as bad. We had literally two conversations with her and then find her dead in a bathtub so as to prove that Aventurine is smartest of smarty people because he's just so smart and clever and powerful and OMG! It also is only to further anger and add personality to Sunday. As such, Robin is fridged for TWO dudes. And we have no reason to care because why should we? Because Sunday is now having to cover up her murder? I have to assume she's been dead only recently unless she's been dead for like weeks and you've been somehow preserving her body because Firefly sure didn't get to fucking survive for ANY time.
Speaking of: Firefly is a character made to die. The only options we get to react to her death is compassion for those around us or blinding anger. Not remorse or sorrow or anything like that. It is supposed to mirror the player. You either can just move on or be furious and have it push you to the end of the content. That's it.
And I REALLY mean it when I say she's made to die. She's this nice, sweet girl who snuck onto Penacony specifically to escape an illness she has that is genuinely tragic and is killing her. She is kind, a little mysterious but appears to genuinely have a good heart. We even take a selfie with her which is our keepsake for after she dies.
We also got to already fight the thing that kills her. It appears out of nowhere the first time, descending from the ether above us while it is only us and Firefly, leaving us defenseless. HOWEVER! In a boss fight I do genuinely like, we fend it off for one phase until it finally pushes us to the side and has Firefly in its clutches. It takes its time lifting her up and it looks like Firefly might do something when BAM! Black Swan appears, entirely subduing the beast and freeing Firefly so we can go round two against it and having it be a much easier fight now that three of us here.
But in the memory zone again, knowing that Death is coming and tracking something, with us, Black Swan and now a third super strong fighter, Acheron, we walk into an open area. AND DRUMROLL PLEASE!
It's the instant kill! Where the enemy we have dealt with before comes out of nowhere, shocking and surprising everyone, even physically just bumping into two of us before rushing past the MC while we stand there helplessly and killing Firefly in a single moment! Can we get a round of applause for one of the worst death tropes in video games, if not all of media!? I haven't seen a bullshit death like this since Kat in Halo Reach! Give it up for these writers and how absolutely hack they are!
And here is the worst part: It does hurt. It hurts a LOT.
Penacony's writing is genuinely good in places. The middle portion of Penacony with Firefly is great. Firefly is a delightful character, even if she's a cinnamon roll too precious for this world. The game spends literally half the patch just selling you on why you should care about Firefly. So yeah, seeing Firefly explode into goop hurts but it's like killing a dog. Yeah, that hurts me emotionally but I can tell they're nothing but meat to you and so I get ANGRY at you using my emotions against me.
And worse yet, and I cannot stress this point enough: She is not the important death. We move right back to investigating afterwards with only Acheron's heavy handed words, where she's acting almost like she's never seen death before, to carry the torch for her. No, instead, it's Robin's death that is stated as being able to bring Penacony down. The one that matters. So move on. Firefly is just motivation for you.
Which even if you don't play Caelus and are female with your MC, it still fucking sucks. It also makes the part of Penacony that's good null and void because all you are going to remember is the bullshit death that it was building too. It cheapens all those good moments because you see the manipulation going on.
And... I'm not surprised at this point. If you don't count Herta's Space Station, this is three deaths for three planets. Belobog didn't have a main character death besides the villain and it was PLENTY dramatic enough. The Loufu on the other hand killed Tingyun. Tingyun was our guide... LIKE FIREFLY so that's two in a row that they've axed, but she didn't get much of a character. Instead, it's just shock value for shock's sake, something the writers clearly understood because then the entire epilogue for the PLANET is spent backfilling how wonderful of a person she was and mourning her death. I'm not kidding.
So that is three for three on fridged women, all done in order to just add stakes or a twist to the story. All three of them are also really bad and don't actually add anything to the story. We just continue our investigation after Firefly like we would have done regardless and get to another boss fight that makes literally no sense because YOUR ALLY SENT US HERE ASS HAT!
Addendum: This is actually FOUR deaths in three planets. The fourth is at least a guy so it's not entirely gender biased but it is also off screen. A villain we met once, kind of, named Duke Inferno is claimed to have been killed by Acheron before she came here with his invitation. The only part of this story that's confirmed mind you is the death of Inferno which uh... To quote Aventurine talking about Acheron's story "Lines up a bit too perfectly" for the asshat in the coat. It's not good and it makes the trailer Hoyo put out for the Ever Flame Mansion, that uses imagery you can find on Penacony for it, feel like a lie since we're not likely to see those characters at least until 2.4. But yeah, thought I should mention that there is a fourth dead character.
But... If you are a writer who got a lot of infamy from character deaths and is used to having YEARS of backstory, build up, connections, etc.... This is actually what happens. This is the first the Honkai part of Honkai Star Rail has been a real problem for the game. Even in the lead up to Penacony, they hyped up the potential of death by bringing in the lead writer for the Honkai series, who hadn't been on a livestream since, it sounds like... He killed a BUNCH of Honkai characters a year and a half ago. But that was the SIXTH anniversary of Honkai Third Impact. (sorry if I'm getting the timeline and the like wrong on this at all btw)
Star Rail is not even a year old. With that pointed out: let's talk about Himeko and the Express in general.
I don't know these people. I don't have a connection to these people. This is literally the first real chance we are spending ANY amount of time with Himeko. What does she do with that chance? Be cryptic, untrusting and a complete ass honestly to pretty much EVERYONE despite having pushed us trailblazers as kind, helpful people who will take risks and the like. But nope, she's just as bad as the rest of the people we've just been introduced to.
So when Firefly wants us to take inspiration from our allies on how to lighten the mood or when Acheron at the very start says we've made unbreakable bonds that we might lose... What the fuck are you talking about? March 7th is the ONLY one that might be able to be claimed about. Everyone else has no relationship with us. Half of them may as well not have characters with how little they've done or shown us or felt like they're there mostly to help with exposition.
So sure, go ahead and kill them off. You don't care about them enough to actually make me invested in them, actually build a status quote to then shatter with real danger so... Why should I? These people just exist for you to slaughter because you apparently don't know how to write a dramatic story otherwise.
It... It is rough for me right now. I even played a bit of the side content and went "Yep, this is still a good part of Star Rail." It made me think of how my brother hoped that Star Rail wouldn't have the Persona 5 problem. Great character work, a lot of fun, some real, deep emotions and genuinely good storytelling (I've talked about Guinaifen with such praise for a reason)... You just will never know by playing the main story because it's not there. Not after Belobog. The most important content, the content EVERYONE will see just isn't good.
And whenever 3.0 comes out, I know I won't be hyped after this. Even if they undo the deaths, I don't care. I don't care about your main story because it makes no sense and the stakes are fake. So... Why am I still playing if only the side content is worthwhile?
If I can never trust that a Firefly will do anything but burn out?
======+++++======
I'll admit a lot of this is motivated by anger. I'll probably do a second blog talking about some of the positives about Penacony, because there is a fair bit of good mixed in with the rest, but I needed to get out this frustration first because it was the majority of what the patch left me with. I also still stick by most of what I said, maybe not quite as harshly, even with a calmer mind.
I have a public Discord for any and all who want to join!

Hey o/! Nexomon fan here, I loved reading your thoughts! I'm conveniently in the discord so I can tell you most of what's been said, most of it is mechanical stuff though.
Apparently Ghost, Psychic and Normal are going out the window, and Arcane is being added as a new type. And all the nexomon have like, % of each type? Think like 10% Water 90% Electric I think? So whatever may come of that
We don't have any new teasers or gameplay trailers but we do get monster designs revealed every so often, you should be able to find a page in the fandom wiki with the teased ones so far
Story wise we just know it'll be another time jump, the protagonist is the black and blue haired dude(apparently might always have to be male?), the developer has been teasing about something happening to Solus in the meantime, but he has also said Abyssals won't be a big thing in the past so, he could very well just be joking
Sorry if you didn't want the info dumb btw, you can ignore this if so, I just like having new people in this fandom c:
Glad you enjoyed! I'm gonna put a lot of response under the cut so it doesn't clog people's dashes, but as a general statement: I'm generally fine with spoilers, but am looking to avoid information about story. Anything about mechanics, new Nexomon, even characters or updated designs is fine. But I do like to avoid knowing about story. Nothing you said is a problem, just putting that out there for future reference.
I kinda like the Arcane decision. Psychic was hysterically overpowered in Extinction, with the only things that resist it being things it also resists (Mineral and other Psychic), and the things it's weak to being weak to it (Electric and Ghost). Grass was relatively strong, but neutral damage means Psychic can still push through. Normal was also super weak. Two weaknesses, no strengths, an inconsistent status that relied on Mineral-type attacks to boost their damage. Normal was really bad. Ghost was balanced though. I'll be a little sad to see it go, but Arcane sounds like a fine replacement, depending on what it does.
Type percentage, however, is some nonsense. Not in a way I'm opposed, but in a way where I'm confused how it works. Assuming we go back to the old type wheel (please go back to the old type wheel), if you have something that's 80% Electric and 20% Water, and you're hit with a Mineral-type move...what happens? Like, if the base damage is 100, Electric is a factor of 25% boost for weakness, Water cuts 35%, but are those boosts and reductions also hit by the percentage, so it's a 20% boost and 7% reduction so it's only 13% stronger? Because that would be wonky. Again, I'm cool with it, but it sounds chaotic.
I may try to look it up. In fact, one moment.
Okay I couldn't find anything. If you have a link readily available feel free, but don't worry too much. I'm not too worried about seeing designs right away.
As for story. The Abyssals not being a huge deal is still very possible. I don't think they need to be prominent in the next game to be significant here, so I'd be a bit bummed they didn't get more play, but not entirely surprised. Something almost definitely happens to Solus, since they're a clear target, it's just a matter of what. The big thing that bugs me is "possibly has to be male." That would honestly suck a lot out of it for me. I do not like that being forced. I know it should be inconsequential, but it's because it's so inconsequential there's no reason to make it only male. It would be an unnecessary and shitty limitation drawn solely from the decision to go 3D with the graphics, and I will not be happy with that trade. I could give a shit about graphics. Hopefully it's just typical "male as default" marketing and they have a female design as well.

So, I heard Castlevania Nocturne season 2 is in the works. Big excite! That being said!
I'm overall fine with Nocturne as is if only because I know that Castlevania is no stranger to negative fan feedback whether it's legitimate grievances or petty complaints (and Nocturne is flawed, I won't argue that) – just look at the series history. Simon's Quest being a different sequel like Adventure of Link, 64 being called the worst Castlevania game for years (go watch Ragnarrox's video on it), Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin having an anime art style despite Rondo being just as anime if not more so, Symphony being too easy, Ecclesia being too hard, the very existence of Judgment and its take on the characters, Shadowvania being fine or a God of War ripoff. There will ALWAYS be Castlevania fans who dislike something, whether it's retconning Sonya Belmont or Netflixvania simply existing.
I've also played very few games in the entire series (GBA trilogy, SotN, Order of Ecclesia, Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate, bit of Dracula X) so the changes in Nocturne don't bother me that much if at all, and my general sense of being fine with Nocturne set in the French Revolution boils down to "Rondo was set during that period and France is one of the stages in Bloodlines". It also helps that I don't have as much energy for vitriol in my old by tumblr standards age, and I know adaptations will change things for better or worse... and Nocturne could have been worse. Imagine if Uwe Boll directed Nocturne.
So far Season 1 presents a fast and loose adaptation of Rondo of Blood with elements from Bloodlines and a dash of Aria of Sorrow (the eclipse) and a smidge of Harmony of Dissonance, just as the previous series adapted Dracula's Curse with bits from Curse of Darkness (Hector and Isaac) and Symphony of the Night (character designs and Lisa's death). Nocturne needs to adapt Rondo in order to properly introduce Richter and Maria and set things up for Symphony, obviously. Assuming it goes that far in future seasons, which it might.
But depending on how things go, once Nocturne is finished with Rondo and if it moves on to Symphony, there's a key element of SotN's story that falls apart when you remember that Dracula and Lisa were resurrected at the end of Castlevania Season 4; SotN happens because Richter is possessed and brings back both the Castle and Dracula, but you can't resurrect someone who's still alive, assuming Dracula hasn't died in the interim between Season 4 and Nocturne, and a whole village was being built around the still standing Castle last time we saw it. So what happens then?
An important thing to note is that Lament of Innocence, chronologically the first game in the timeline, happened in Netflixvania; Trevor mentions Leon Belmont, the game's protagonist. Lament is also where we see Dracula's origins not as a Wallachian prince turned vampire, but as Leon's friend Mathias Cronqvist – a fellow crusader who after the death of his wife Elizabetha, became Dracula by taking the soul of the vampire Walter Bernhard into a vampiric treasure called the Crimson Stone, which is basically if a Philosopher's Stone gave you vampirism because that's a kind of immortality. (There's also the Ebony Stone which is a vampire treasure like the Crimson Stone, the colors are important because there's some alchemy in Lament.)
In SotN Alucard describes the Castle as "a creature of chaos. It may take many incarnations." Apparently in the game Dracula's Curse, Dracula made a pact with the Evil God – who may or may not be Satan, somebody at Konami please clarify – to gain the power of Chaos (and also a monster horde), which would neatly explain why Netflix Drac needed a year to prep his assault after Lisa was burned at the stake. In Aria of Sorrow (in which Dracula dies for good in 1999 and is reincarnated as Soma Cruz), the final boss is literally Chaos, and its second form takes the appearance of (among other things) a black stone that flashes red Castlevania is a creature of Chaos and the center of it is the Crimson Stone, the origin of Dracula's power.
In Dawn of Sorrow, the cult under Celia Fortner created a "perfect replica" of the Castle and wants to make a whole new Dracula; it isn't outright stated iirc, been a while since I played it, but I'm guessing the implication is that Celia created another Crimson Stone to be a new Chaos for the Castle. Plus, with two candidates being groomed for the Dark Lord position (and Soma himself being Dracula reborn and getting involved), someone would have to be sacrificed like Walter was so someone can become Dracula 2.0.
However, I don't recall seeing a Crimson Stone in Netflixvania, which is interesting considering the focus on alchemy once Saint Germain gets involved. Considering how spotty Trevor's knowledge of the Belmont family's history is, he probably didn't know how Dracula became Dracula. Maybe Leon took that knowledge to the grave, or maybe Sypha uncovered the identity of the man who became Dracula years later while she and Trevor raised their child Simon. If Nocturne will one day adapt Symphony, it needs to address the lack of a Dracula to resurrect. Maybe it can take a leaf out of Dawn of Sorrow's book and have a cult just try to make a new Dracula to replace the old one, and the party meets up with the Vlad Tepes Formerly Known as Dracula in order for him to explain how he became what he is and what the cult is doing, not to mention the whole possessed Richter part... or, perhaps the cult mind controls Richter into going through the motions so he can be forced to sacrifice someone, perhaps one of vampiric blood like Alucard, to take on the Dark Lord's mantle. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a Belmont became a Dracula!

Harold’s Accidentally Horrifying Vault
Okay, so I’ve made a post here before several months ago alluding to what I picked up on about Vault 29, which is where Harold came from, and I also made a post about it on the classic Fallout subreddit a while back, but I’ve decided do a deep-dive into it here because it is a perfect example of how different writers presumably not communicating with each other plus writers treating something obviously bad as not being that big of a deal accidentally created something way worse than what they might have originally intended.
True, most of it comes from Van Buren and the Fallout Bible, the former becoming very different for New Vegas and the latter being more of a suggestion that writers can use or discard, but a reference to what became of Vault 29 in New Vegas seems to me like it was meant to be an Easter egg for the fans who knew about Van Buren to tell them that this idea created for Van Buren still exists in canon one way or the other.
So basically, Vault 29′s experiment was to put a bunch of kids between 5-16 without their parents to be raised by machines and see what would happen. Depending on if you look at the Fallout Bible or VB, the parents were either originally with the kids but they were elderly and died off soon afterwards, or the kids were separated from the parents immediately. I’m going with the latter, since the former is pretty stupid. I’m skipping a lot of other story stuff surrounding 29 like the whole Derek Greenway part, but this is the gist.
Then, a terminally ill woman who had her brain uploaded into a computer system named Diana Stone learned about the experiment and was horrified, so she took it upon herself to take over the Vault’s computers and raise the children herself.
However, rather than doing this purely out of kindness, Diana decided to play god and raise the children to believe that she was a divine being. When they left the Vault, Diana set up a village for her flock to live in, and much like Arroyo, the so-called “Twin Mothers tribe” would pretty much cosplay as Native Americans, in this case the Anasazi, to live in an agrarian society away from the rest of the world.
My memory is a little fuzzy on what was supposed to happen in VB, so correct me if I’m wrong, but because your player character was a carrier of a plague, they had to find a way to cure it, and so by helping Diana re-establish herself as the ruler of the Twin Mothers, she would help you out, and the cure had to do with the fruits growing from the tree on Harold’s head.
As far as I know, Diana was supposed to be seen as a good person, or at least helping her continue to keep the Twin Mothers in isolation is supposed to be the “correct” decision, even though she started a cultural-appropriating cult which she made herself the spiritual leader of, keeping her people ignorant of the outside world. It really IS Arroyo all over again, except at least Arroyo eventually abandoned their former way of life.
Okay, so most of this has yet to be acknowledged in canon... however, Ulysses does mention the Twin Mothers in NV, and that they were either absorbed or destroyed outright by Caesar’s Legion. Like I said, I think this was meant to be an acknowledgement to the fans who had followed Van Buren’s development, so we can assume that the general outline of the Twin Mothers’ origins could be canon.
Before I move on, I should acknowledge that Vault 29 did get a reference in Fallout 76, where a university student bemoans the thought of having to work with supposedly spoiled teenagers from affluent families, though because this character was not actually working with the Vault when she talked about it, we can assume that she’s not entirely correct in her assessment of the Vault, since the Fallout Bible pretty clearly stated that it was both young children and teenagers in there.
Anyway, so Harold came from a cult? That’s not great, but maybe it doesn’t sound quite horrifying to some of you yet. Oh, I haven’t even gotten to the worst part!
You see, the final piece of canon information about Vault 29 comes from the Tell-Me-About function from FO1 where, if you ask Harold about his Vault, he says that the people had to leave because there was too many people and not enough food and water to go around. If we consider the FO Bible, it says that Harold, and presumably the rest of the residents, left in 2090, 13 years after the War.
A Vault originally made entirely of minors had to leave in just 13 years because of overpopulation, and remember, due to the nature of the Vault’s experiment, these children would have had to be selected before the War, and it wasn’t a case of random people from all over running inside...
At best, Diana ignored what was going on and let the kids run wild because she wanted them to be free-spirited and one with nature and all that, OR she deliberately manufactured this overpopulation either to make as many people as possible for her cult or as a controlling method, real cults have been known to set up marriages and make the victims have children to discourage them to leave.
It’s honestly pretty likely that the writers of Van Buren either forgot or had no knowledge of the Tell-Me-About line, and if they had included the Twin Mothers more in New Vegas, it’s likely that they would have ignored it, but because they have not yet talked about them in more detail within canon, what we’re left with is pieces that have accidentally created something both more disgusting yet interesting than the racist-sounding original idea for Van Buren.
Poor Harold. It’s amazing he turned out as kind and somewhat well-adjusted as he did.

🌹 🔥 and 💙 for Vezz
Jumbo Ask Game
I'm putting this under a cut because Vezz just kind of lives in my head rent free and I could talk about him for hours I'm sorry fjdkslfjkdls.
🌹 How easy is it for them to connect with others and make friends? On the flip side how easy is it for them to make an enemy of someone? Are they the kind of person who hangs around the food table at a party and never talks to anyone or are they the type who can talk to anyone?
It entirely depends on where in his story he is. Up to him leaving the Inquest, he was surprisingly gregarious and charming. He had a lot of coworkers he was very friendly with, a lot of flirtations, and more than a few close friends and even lovers. He was the talker at the canteen, and generally very popular in the Theta-9 facility.
Hell, he was even popular among his peers in college. That's partly how he wound up on a krewe with Pheazza, Dhass, and Izza. He spoke for Pheazza frequently, considering her reputation as a "burner" since she grew up in Lion's Arch.
But after the Theta-9 massacre, things... changed. Suddenly, it was a lot harder to know who he could trust, and he became much more guarded about himself and his emotions.
That more friendly nature still bleeds through, though. He fretted constantly over Qirri, and would always approach Rissia first to ask if she needed anything at all so he could fetch it for her. He made fast friends with Garrus and Trahearne, and he and Tybalt hit it off from the jump.
Nowadays, since he's got so many more people in his life, his old nature is showing through considerably more. He has a lot of friends in Applenook, has reconnected with his mother Cautti, and even reconciled with Dhass.
To say nothing of his relationship with Rissia and the family they've built together.
All in all, though he tries to hide it? Vezz is a lot more outgoing than people suspect of him, given his initially guarded and soft-spoken nature.
🔥 Give us a list of general likes and dislikes, such as colours, textures, music, weather and other stuff!
He's partial to soft, warm colors, though they don't look very good on him. Likes to see Rissia wear them though. He's not a huge fan of black and red as a combo for pretty obvious reasons, but he does find it hilarious that there's asura that've started adding it into their fashion because he wore his old Inquest look for so long. Up to the retaking of Lion's Arch from Scarlet Briar, in fact!
Textures in general don't bother him but he doesn't like anything coarse or scratchy. If you ask his favorite, it's his wife's hair.
He's never been much for listening to music, usually only preferring asuran styles, but Taimi let him hear some Metal Legion and he's become something of a fan! He's a bit sad that they've since broken up, but has a number of their records.
Soft rainy days and sunshowers are his absolute favorite types of weather, but he loathes being cold. The Deldrimor Front, Bitterfrost, basically anywhere Hoelbrak or north...? Hates staying there for long. It's beautiful, and he loves the architecture. Loves visiting his friends there too! But he could do without the snow.
And his favorite scent is lilac. He often purchases a mild perfume scented with lilac as a gift for Rissia when he can find it in the market from artisan sellers.
💙 What did your OC want to be when they grew up and why? Did they have any lifelong dreams or ambitions they never got to work on or are they currently working to achieve this dream? Has their life taken a very unexpected turn and put all these plans on hold for a while or have they given up on any dreams?
I don't really think Vezz ever really had any dreams. He wanted to do something extraordinary, but he never knew what- all that to get his father to just acknowledge him and the hard work he put in just to get his attention.
But Vilarr's approval is something he's come to realize he can never get. No matter what he's done, even going so far as killing three dragons, a fallen human god, and a crazed lich? Vilarr has never seen it as enough, seeing Vezz as riding on the coattails of better, more capable people. Saying his accomplishments are not his own.
But it's something he's started to come to terms with, over time. He has a lot of close friends between Dragon's Watch and Misfits Incorporated. He has his wife Rissia and he has the twins, he has Taimi as his ward, and all the "kids" he's more or less adopted through his long journey to redemption, like Braham and Rox. He even has Rissia's family. And he has Cautti, who is proud of him regardless of anything he's done in the past.
Vilarr may never recognize the man he's become, but the people who truly love him see how far he's come, and that matters a lot more than a father who never really saw him to begin with.

I'm making the point again here so I can stop derailing people's posts.
Fans who are used to getting entire tv series at once - because this is definitely a tv thing, it didn't exist before - and now are treating book series the same way:
Of course you have no moral obligation to engage with any book series. At all. So of course it is up to you to wait until a book series gets finished before you dive in.
But, and yes, there is a big BUT, like this far, far fewer series will be finished at all.
Because you are depriving the people working on the series of income and information.
How is a publisher to know if a book in a series doesn't sell because people don't like it or simply because it is the first or second in a series? Do you want them to take a risk on 3+ books that will all flop? Do you want to deprive those involved of several launches, because a new part of a series always brings people to earlier books that they might have missed before? Word of mouth is so, so powerful, and there will be less of that when things are released in chunk.
Book series aren't a subscription model. If your goal is to get in new subscribers, it makes sense to lure them with a lot of finished stories and then hoping they forget to cancel the subsctiption. Because a subscription service hinges on giving people a lot of choice. It's not dependent on the success of one title. The money is already there, flowing in regularly. They need to keep it flowing.
But book titles need to generate that word of mouth by themselves. They need to, ideally, grow their audience with every volume through word-of-mouth, adaptions, whatever. Because there is no pool of money being replenished every month. Writers need to, ideally, publish often. Because people need to see it, be interested, and go: "What else did they do?" and find more from them. That's why writers also throw in standalones with their series. Because a whole series, to some people, can be A Bit Much, but a new standalone novel? Sure. Gladly.
If you dramatically cut the available publishing moments, a series of books, and epic stories, become vastly less profitable. It's much less risk to publish many standalone novels then. But goodness there is only so much worldbuilding you can do in a standalone novel.
If you want big worlds and stories, you need to take a little risk and exercise a little patience, because you're asking the writer and the publisher for the same.
Few writers are going to invest decades of their lives in something they have exactly one chance to promote with no chance to grow an audience. Even fewer publishers.
If readers don't give them a chance writers and publishers aren't going to take a chance. The result will be fewer big stories.
Now if you honestly don't care about that there's no problem. But if you do, don't tell them you don't care. Because what happens is not that you'll get more big stories in one go. The stories will likely get smaller.

heyooo I just started writing fan fic and I really have no idea what I'm doing haha, can you explain how you draft and edit and write you long fics? i don't know what to do besides just starting at the beginning and writing to the end. (also sending this to multiple writiers so I can get lots of opinions)
hey! first of all, i wanna say i'm flattered that you ask, although i can claim no sense of credibility in the realm of writing anything, fanfic or otherwise. i'm just some guy, like everyone else on here, and i'm just doing my best with what i've got.
i don't believe that every writer will approach a longfic the same way, and i don't think a writer will approach each of their longfics in the same way, either. i know that the fic i'm hoping to write when gocmh is done is going to have a different process than mfl/gocmh did, because the stories are different and the needs are different. i can tell you how i approached mfl, and maybe you'll find that helpful, but if you don't, that's okay. your fic isn't gonna be mfl, it's gonna be yours, and ultimately you're the only one who is going to be able to figure out how to write it.
i'm gonna skip past all the general writing advice, which is read a lot and spend almost your entire childhood and adolescence meticulously picking apart all the stories you love to figure out how they work like they're clocks make of gears and springs. when it came to mfl, i wrote the first 5-8 chapters on pure vibes. every chapter's contents were just as big a mystery to me at the outset of writing them as they were to the readers when they sat down to read them. i was only ever thinking about the next step, the next sentence, the next tiny jump in the story. i was not thinking about where we'd end up, bc as far as i was concerned, that wasn't my business. my business was what happens next.
and in the process of writing that way, i was basically just improvising. it's a cliché, i know, but the first rule of improv is to yes, and, and i yes anded myself over and over and over. if i typed that the world of mfl was like x, then it was like x, and i had to just fucking deal with that. so much of early mfl (and truly all of that world) is just me making up rules and facts that later me would have to treat as sacred. is this the most efficient way to write? idk, and idc, either. this was the most fun, exciting way for me to write the story, and i don't regret it.
after a while though, my brain naturally started to stretch its legs (ew, terrible metaphor, abort, abort), and i started thinking ahead. not like terribly far ahead, but enough where i could say, "ok, if i'm at point a, and i know what point e i want to reach someday, i just gotta figure out points b through d." and sometimes that involved outlining the chapters that could get me from a to e, and sometimes i'd make it up as i went. it depended on the day and the points and what was going on in my life at the time. as i write this, i have the final ten-ish chapters of gocmh planned out, what's going to happen, who's pov it's gonna be in, etc. i actually planned out the last 15-ish chapters this way, and have written some, but even in the process of writing those chapters, shit has changed! something i thought was a good idea in the planning process didn't work out the way i'd hoped in execution, and i had to pivot. that's writing, baby.
now i know this isn't going to work for the the fic i have planned for after gocmh. i'm going to want that fic properly planned out, each chapter outlined and themes woven in carefully ahead of time, bc that's that story. i fully expect for shit to go haywire in the actual writing, of course, because in all my years of fic writing (and friends, there is so much more fic writing than y'all know about with this username), shit has never not gone haywire in the actual writing. but idk, that's the fun part. subverting your own expectations. cutting yourself off at the knees. kicking your own ass. it's fun!
i'll also talk a bit about how i wrote people and rhythm, the originals fic you can still find on my ao3 account. that fic took about six months to write, and to date i don't think i've ever had so much fun writing anything. imagine, if you will, two whiteboards, each divided vertically in half, covered in sticky notes. on each of those sticky notes is written a brief scene description, an event that Has to Happen. each of the four whiteboard halves represents an episode (that fic was organized by episodes, not chapters, bc i fancied myself an Auteur), and i would place and replace and replace those sticky notes until i had all the scenes i needed to make an episode in the order they needed to happen in. and then i would write! and bc i'd already done the organizational work to figure out the story beats, i could write the individual scenes in the order that struck my fancy, bc if i skipped a piece of the story that was important, it didn't matter. i knew where that sticky note went, and i could fill in the blank later. if this type of planning/writing appeals to you, i recommend the website/app trello, which is basically the digital version of whiteboards and sticky notes.
i wanna talk about something you said in your ask. "i don't know what to do besides just starting at the beginning and writing to the end." so, uhhhh, who says? who says you gotta start at the beginning and write to the end? start in the middle. start at the shit that makes you excited. write the scene that makes your mouth water and your hands turn into claws. write the good shit first, and then when you've got it, ask yourself, "ok, how do i earn this? i want my readers to get to here, bc it's good and juicy and so much fun, but i gotta work to get them here." start where you wanna start and work backwards from there if you must. asking "why" is so useful for this. oh, you're at point f? why did point f happen? that's point e. why did point e happen? that's point d. (then, you know, use the rest of the alphabet.) so much of life is just us reacting to shit, dealing with the onslaught of Life as best we know how, even if it fucks shit up for us in the future, so if you wanna write the reaction first, go for it! just remember that reactions stem from actions, so you gotta give us those, too.
(also, a story need not be told in order! flashbacks and the manipulation of time can be extremely fun and exciting! this is something that takes a lot of skill, though, not to say that you don't have that skill, but just be careful when doing this. you can still use the concepts of time jumps in your writing process, even if you don't present your story in a jumbled order.)
i don't know if i've said anything of value here. i can only talk about writing as i experience it, which is not, of course, how any other writer experiences it. i can't give you tips or actionable advice bc i, too, am making this shit up as i go. i write bc i like telling lil stories for my lil internet friends, and bc sometimes ppl say nice words, and i collect those nice words like a dragon hoarding its shinies in its lair. but don't write for the nice words, bc if they don't come as fast as you like or as much as you like, you'll get discouraged, and ultimately it's more important that the story be told than that it be praised.
(not to belabor the point, but there's a john green quote i love so much i have a poster of it hanging in my bedroom now, as an almost 30yo, that i've had since my college dorm room, and the quote is:
“Don’t make stuff because you want to make money — it will never make you enough money. And don’t make stuff because you want to get famous — because you will never feel famous enough. Make gifts for people — and work hard on making those gifts in the hope that those people will notice and like the gifts. Maybe they will notice how hard you worked, and maybe they won’t — and if they don’t notice, I know it’s frustrating. But, ultimately, that doesn't change anything — because your responsibility is not to the people you’re making the gift for, but to the gift itself.”
just something to keep in mind when writing. write for you, and write for the ppl you love, and write for the thing itself. the thing you create is a gift, and the gift deserves to exist for its own sake.)
so that was long! i hope it helps, and if it doesn't, sorry! i did try my best. i hope you find a method of writing that feels fun and natural and exciting to you, one that keeps you coming back for more. writing is the thing that keeps me going on days when i don't really want to keep going, and if it can become that thing for you (or hey, maybe it already is!) then i think is a gift, too.

10 27 37 for fe asks!!
ok first of all sorry for answering this ask 30000 years late but question 37 threw me for a loop a bit and i wanted to give you a proper answer so here we go lmao
10. A character you find underrated?
i mean ig ive said it before but rodrigue and also hanneman, tho for different reasons. i think that rodrigue gets vilified by a large part of the fandom bc of things felix says abt him as a traumatised and emotionally stunted teenager that aren't actually true - but people tend to take him at his word and so rodrigue gets cast as the classic bad fire emblem dad when he's actually one of the more supportive and involved fathers on the entire 3h cast.
hanneman's an old guy to the point that he's more gilf than dilf and also a total side character which by default makes him uninteresting to most people in fandom, plus he's kind of shit as a unit gameplay wise. however 1) i think he's hot 2) he has some very interesting supports where he gets to be a caring and dependable mentor or father figure (marianne) but that still allow him his own character growth and to look at things from new perspectives despite his age and experience (like his chain w/ lysithia).
27. Any fanfics/fan content you'd recommend? (You can plug your own stuff it's fine)
oohhh i am completely obsessed with The Lion and the Bear by notallbees. it's a dimivain fic in which sylvain, felix and ingrid all grew up with lambert, though lambert still died and they protect dimitri now. this is from the summary:
Sylvain ran his gaze over Dimitri and laughed under his breath. "You've grown again."
"Not on purpose," Dimitri said, and smiled when his words made Sylvain laugh. "I am so glad you've come. How was your journey? Will you be staying long?"
Sylvain grinned, holding up his hands in surrender. "One question at a time, lad," he said, then paused and glanced around them. "Forgive my manners," he said, taking a step back so that he could offer Dimitri a subtle bow, inclining his head and shoulders. "Your Royal Highness."
WEAK for the 'lad' dynamic. anyway most of the story takes place at gautier, where dimitri goes with sylvain alone to be with his favourite person in the world celebrate his birthday. i am crying shaking sobbing every time i read this fic (and i re-read it a lot). the chemistry and comradery and tenderness between sylvain and dimitri is so beautiful, i just can't get over it. the way their relationship grows and the writing itself, it's just gorgeous. full disclosure: dimitri is 16 in this fic whereas sylvain is probably in his late 30s or early 40s, and a lot of their relationship is centred around an 'older mentor/younger protégé' dynamic that might make people uncomfortable. im absolutely enchanted with it every time i read it, however, and though i am an age gap and mentor/protégé relationship enjoyer, i don't usually go in for the underage stuff, so maybe? give it a try?
other than that i also really enjoyed Survivor's Burden by lalabelle, a dimiclaude fic that takes place right after gronder. i'll put the summary here:
Claude had plans. Plans to turn the tides, to end this horrific war of attrition that has been going on for far too long. To convince the Faerghus army to work together, to combine their efforts to take down the Adrestian army and end this senseless war once and for all. Then he sees Dimitri.
He’s a monster, a mess, and a beast of a man. He’s violent and unpredictable and indiscriminate in his slaughter, working through the field like a man possessed, the strength of the crest of Blaiddyd coursing through his veins. They never stood a chance.
this is a fic in which dimitri is very much 'feral', for lack of a better word, so if that's not your cup of tea i'd advise against it, but it isn't used to generate smut or anything. rather, claude decides to save dimitri and take him off of the battlefield and into the forest after which they have to flee into the forests, and then he has to try and keep the both of them alive. for most of the fic dimitri is in a very dark and deep place mentally, which means that he is somewhat primal in his interactions, but what i love about this fic is that despite being terrified and broken his protective and caring personality still shines through, trying to help claude out there in the wilderness. and in return claude tries his hardest to take care of dimitri, who ofc is pretty severly wounded after gronder. besides their characterisations it's again the slow development of their relationship that really makes me appreciate this fic so much, it feels very natural.
37. What's a weird theory or headcanon you have?
i really like fleshing out worldbuilding for adrestia, faerghus and leicester, especially with the help of historical nations and cultures. i like to think of leicester as a fusion between the italian city states in the late middle ages and the dutch republic. in my mind, their cities are a lot like venice or other northern italian cities such as firenze and siena. i envision the alliance as a country that is very centred on trade, and not just within fódlan - much like the italian city states and the dutch republic, which got their riches through trade! also it's canon that it's an alliance between different territories that don't always get along, which is textbook dutch republic. and the dutch republic had a very strong fleet for a while, which is also something that i imagine leicester to have.
faerghus is largely russian in my mind, because it's such a cold and harsh place to live - ive read 'russia and the russians' by geoffrey hoskings, and a lot of stuff about medieval russia can be copy-pasted right onto faerghus for how well it fits in-universe. like, russia might be huge, but it's cold and a lot of its land is actually kind of shit, agriculturally speaking, and obviously this has implications for the way people can live their lives! i always think of faerghans as especially hardened people, from peasants to knights, simply because of that background. these environmental circumstances also mean that faerghus does not have much to trade with, but is fódlan's main provider of wood and furs, much like scandinavia in the 1500s-1600s. in military (and feudal) terms i prefer to look to medieval and early modern france, however. i don't think faerghus would have a strong navy, because their only access to sea is to the north, but with their martial culture and focus on knights they would have a very strong standing army. i actually have a lot of thoughts on feudalism in fódlan as well but i won't get into that rn bc this post is already getting super long lmao
adrestia is not just an empire, but actively imperialistic, and so for me it is a mixture between nineteenth century great britain and nineteenth and twentieth century germany/prussia (which, come on guys, there's eagles on the adrestian flag too). there is something haughty about the way they view their culture and how the other two countries in fódlan are regarded that i feel fits very well with british attitudes towards, well, everything, in the 1800s. i also have some associations with ancient rome, partly because of the imperialism and the arrogance and partly because there's a bunch of neoclassical architecture on empire combat maps (still losing it at the amfitheatre tho). i think they'd both want to have a great army and a great navy, though their ships would not be as well-built as the leicester ones. they'd be big on trade overseas but since they have all the grain they need, it is more for luxury items than foodstuffs. i also think that part of their army would be drafted or made up of mercenaries (a very common historical practice!) to amass numbers, whereas faerghus' army is smaller (i think there's a significant difference in population numbers between faerghus and the other two countries) but qualitatively much better because of their martial culture.

What lessons do you think superhero comics should take away from the films based on them?
Broad question, but an interesting one, as there's really a lot of stuff any number of comics could take from adaptations depending on what film we're talking about.
First up, there's some literal 1:1 characterization stuff like "comics Peter and Miles should be more like the ITSV versions", "Aquaman should be more of a bro like Momoa", "you could do a Suicide Squad story where everyone's as funny as the Gunn movie", and "616 Morbius should be even a fraction as funny as the version of the movie that exists in people's heads" etc. among others
In the same category of 1:1 translations, there's some environmental/visual stuff like "Gotham should look like an art-deco/Anton Furst nightmare" (which has mostly been ongoingly implemented in Batman comics since then) or "Spider-Man should hang out with his neighbors and help out with normal non-criminal stuff a lot more like he does in the MCU".
Beyond that though, on a deeper more conceptual level, and I hope I'm not pigeonholing myself seeing as all of my few posts so far are just a variation on "We should let (X) change!" but... I mean yeah. If there's really one big lesson comics would do well to adopt from their big movie adaptations is that the movies, by their very definition and how they work as a different medium, are almost entirely defined by permanent major changes (either in status quo or characterization).
For all the faults and criticisms I can leverage at the MCU in terms of quality, the struggles creatives face, their mishaps with handling sensitive topics & diversity, dominance in pop culture/the contemporary cinema landscape and all that type of stuff, looking at it strictly in terms of content and how the narrative of the universe progresses, I'm a big fan of how they're constantly going in a new direction, particularly when it comes to characters' status quos.
Unlike the comics, due to the movies existing in the real world and having to deal with actors aging, contracts expiring and the like, the version of the Marvel universe presented to general audiences is one where mantles are passed down, teams disband, villains and heroes die, and things mostly stay that way. Which I think is just a largely cool & good thing as far as getting worldwide audiences used to the idea of continual momentum and narrative progress, and who knows, maybe even eventually, an ending.
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are dead, and while they'll most likely inevitably return for the big Secret Wars multiversal portal cameo fest, their stories are done. Sam Wilson is now 100% Captain America, with no chance of Steve usurping that role again like he did in the comics, and whenever Mackie calls it quits the role will probably go to the kid who plays Patriot. Same for Cheadle taking over the role of resident Iron Man and eventually passing it to Riri Williams, Clint passing the mantle to Kate Bishop, Ant-Man with his daughter, Thor with Valkyrie and Korg, the Guardians with whoever's still alive at the end of Vol. 3 and so on and so on. The way the universe works is pretty much just diametrically opposed to the way the comics world works, and for the better in most cases.
Outside Marvel and the MCU, more particularly looking over on the other side at DC and how their movies work, would just be getting used to the idea of continual reimaginings and playing it more risky with creating new imagery. Since and including the original Crisis, Batman's been rebooted close to 5 times depending on how you count, but he's stayed largely the same, both as a character and tonally. Brooding guy in a grey-and-black costume who fights colorful supervillains in a big scary city.
But since these continuity resets are basically always guaranteed and happen quite often, you might as well lean into it and reinvent Batman, his world, supporting cast and such radically each time for the sake of just seeing what happens. Instead of remaining largely the same character with a few retcons here and there, imagine if every 5 years the character got as big of a visual and tonal change in stories the way Burton's, Schumacher's, Nolan's, the Arkham games'. Snyder's, and Reeves' takes were all wildly different from each other. Same for other characters of course, just like Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and whoever else that can be continually reinvented such as they are in external media.
That's really it! Not much more to say, but to summarize, basically superhero comics (and the execs that work there/the companies that own them) should stop looking at themselves as IP/idea fodder for the adaptations and try to apply some of that energy the other way around, seeing if taking some of the continual change their silver screen versions are defined by helps revitalize them in any way. Can't hurt to try, right?

the idea of "not liking the real characters" wrt to comics is insane to me because of like. the variety of depictions of most characters. no two writers or artist have them exactly the same way, and depending on the story, the same team could work radically differently on, say, a fluffy holiday story (esp. Valentine's day variants) vs. a dark mystery based on current events.
but also because... TV and movie fandoms do this all the time and people just don't complain the same way, trying to tell people they don't get the canon. especially if the fandom is still strong after the end of a TV series or movie franchise, they'll build up a What Happens After That world together, hitting similar beats over and over again or coming to a consensus on what later versions of the character, world, and plot threads would be. it's at best implied in the source material, there's just a vibrant community co-creating art around it. but even for ongoing series that have a specific set of characters to draw from right there
you get people messing with characters' genders, sexualities, races, religions, disabilities, etc. and using that to explore all kinds of stories. you get people going: okay, what if these two characters hated each other, actually. what if these two got along. what if the team were friends since they were kids, or what if they were all picked to be on a reality show and just met. these ones are in love. these ones were never in love. this one wouldn't even be in love anyway because they're aromantic. this one would be in love with several more people once removed from the canon context telling them not to be, or some plot element that scared them, or some character trait they needed to cultivate for backstory reasons.
and like... this is the point of fanfic and fandom. to ask what if and change little points of the story, sure, but also to ask what if and change one or a few characters completely, put in an entirely different plot, set it in a different world, set it in the same world but with such massive changes the original set of characters is largely unrecognizable. to create something that's both familiar and new, fluid, changing and growing with the people it exists for, to speak and share their stories.
and the thing is, that was already the point of comics, anyway. that's why they're so full of alternate realities and potential futures and time travel shenanigans that change the story. retellings of the same familiar narrative with a different tone or from a different perspective. explorations of things that might have happened given a different set of starting criteria - reboots and revamps and redesigns. modernized versions of older stories, in flashbacks and series set in the past. putting whole bunches of characters together to shake things up for a while, in every crossover event. they're cooperative at best, collaborative even when they aren't, and generally function in the exact same way fandom does.
so what's the difference? I mean, we have the obvious one of thinking white men are inherently smarter and more competent at telling the same stories compared to women and people of color - see, for example, how canon stories by women and especially women of color are called fannish or poisoned by fanfic or catering to fans - which fits in with the fan studies theory that masculine fandom is about being right and feminine fandom is about being new. far easier to catalog all the minutiae of a canon and form a rigid hierarchy of the thoughts that it's okay and correct to have about it than ask why someone created the story that they did. to look at a story and see where they got what they got out of it, or why they thought it should have been there when it wasn't. easier to dismiss them as not being knowledgeable enough to speak.
but I think it's mostly driven by the same thing that pits fanfic against original fiction in the general circumstance. the idea that taking stories from, say Law & Order and coming up with new characters, plots, worlds, etc. or spins on the old one is stealing and not creative and lazy writing, but doing with same with Sherlock Holmes is, of course, hard work and should be respected. as if the writing process isn't exactly the same. as if the work isn't exactly the same. but it can't be monetized in the same way, and therefore it isn't valued by a society that wants to put a price tag on every minute of every person's life. that's what drives the idea that these people are allowed to make creative decisions and those people have to respect the decisions made. the dollar buys the right to change something fundamental to the narrative.
because you can look at the acceptable canon compliant activities, which include complaining about every single author that's ever written a particular character; pointing out the faults with the character, plot holes, worldbuilding details that make no sense; saying these are the only good drawings, or these are the better stories, or these are the ones who truly understand the character or story or world, and those other ones are just going through the motions. anything that requires no information synthesis, but just repeating increasingly obscure facts.
because people will take much milder complaints about a story wrapped in the drapery of an elaborate fic and say that person hates the canon and just never liked the character in the first place, sure. but they'll also take commentary on the story and go, well, the author would never agree with what you're reading into it, therefore you're simply reading too much into things and it isn't there. or they go the author couldn't have meant that, because of the time and place of creation of that canon, and so talking symbolism and metaphor and allegory through a modern lens is doing something to the text, harming it in some way. so it's not just fanfic, fanart, and headcanons. it's the audacity of having any thought about a work you weren't explicitly paid to have.

SHIPPING INFO — ♥ answer the following for your muses so people know how shipping works on your blog !!
WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER(S)?
I honestly don't know if I can properly answer this considering I write ocs here? As far as my personal writing goes, because even counting rp that's the only thing that I can really go off of, I've started to love Pixie x Sommer, specifically in the 'standard' verse as well as their Omega variants in their Val verse. I'm huge on multi-shipping, even with my own characters, so truthfully an 'all time fav' is difficult to name.
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
It kind of just depends? Anything more than 8 years will have me looking at things a little more closely, but it's muse + situation dependent, and my 'tolerable age gap range' varies depending on the age of the younger muse. General rule of thumb? 4-5 years for muses between the ages of 18-25; then the 8 year rule for muses older. But I also acknowledge experience and maturity is a critical factor in these sorts of things so... case by case basis at the end of the day.
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?
i think a combination of ' the bikini rule ' and intent should be considered . ' the bikini rule ' covers , metaphorically , touches anywhere a bikini covers , so once touches start to be focused in those areas with sexual intent , i ' d start considering that nsfw . touching someone ' s butt as flirtation is nsfw , while jokingly patting someone ' s butt is more friendly , but still suggestive ? goodness knows i ' ve reached over and bopped a friend in the tit as a joke , with no sexual intent behind the move .
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
I'd like to think not? When it comes down to it, I tend to let my muses take the wheel with shipping, and I'm typically open to it provided there's chemistry and past interactions to go off of. Heavy emphasis on established chemistry prior to bringing up shipping because in all honesty, I'm a little paranoid about accidentally forcing ships/writing my own characters ooc for the sake of one
WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?
As far as ocxoc ships go... Like I said earlier, Pixie/Sommer has got me in a chokehold lately... And as far as other, 'non-official' ships go with Pix and other ocs; gotta love going for Brook,
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?
Hard yes, without a doubt, both for my own personal comfort and for the sake of future interactions and the like. Very few of the muses I write here are 'easy to ship' for varying reasons, the most common being severe trust issues + emotional self isolation due to trauma and other factors. Some, like Wolf, Sommer and Phoenix, are violent and abrasive as a primary response. To put it simply; most don't play nice.
ARE YOU SHIP-OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS?
I kind of just go with the flow? With writing and rp, I have the philosophy of thinking of threads and stories as a vehicle out on the freeway, and while technically we're the ones in the drivers seat at first, these characters we breath life into have free rein to take control of the wheel at any time on a whim, and sometimes you get kicked out of the car entirely and lose control. I love ships, don't get me wrong, but if it happens, sweet; and if it doesn't, I can live with that, sometimes ships aren't meant to happen .
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?
None I'll admit to I'm a secret fan of König/Stiletto in cod and spitfire in animated young justice.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?
Just have a thread or two with me then shoot me a dm if you think there's potential for something! I promise I'm chill, I'm just awful about reaching out first (yay for communication related nerves), but trust me, if you think there's Something There, more often than not I'll be all for it. I'm usually good about checking my tumblr ims, but I've got discord too I'll share if you want- I'm usually lurking there anyways and sometimes you can catch what I'm listening to there as well

crocus— do you have any significant dreams that you remember? what were they about?
azalea— what is the most recent song you listened to? how do you feel about it?
snowdrop— would you say that you have been in love before?
If you're up for it!
I am, in fact, up for it! Questions answered with pictures of flowers, all below the cut!
Tumblr media
Crocus in the wild of the Alps (6), Karl Gercens crocus— do you have any significant dreams that you remember? what were they about?
I actually keep a (semi-irregular) dream journal! But I'll choose to consider this one a comment on recurring dreams for that reason. A lot of dreams about various ways the world ends that are cosy, but are basically the same dream over and over (I choose not to read too much into them). Far less humorously (or depending on whom you ask, more,) I've had a repeated dream of dying trapped under cold ice floes? Apparently, it's not uncommon among my family, either, mysterious... Anyway, I have it once or twice a year. Watch as I bite it in a desert or something, bahahaha! And I used to dream regularly about - hmn, I could be harsh and call it a very generic fantasy setting, or kind and call it a young Dwells' wistful desire to be isekai'd away. There was enough story throughout the dreams (characters in recurring roles, I was usually watching through another character who might have been me, and might not) that I could probably wring a story out of it, but - I like to let it lay as a memory I'm fond of. If you're curious, I'll go through the details later..!
Tumblr media
P4100834, John S. Quarterman
azalea— what is the most recent song you listened to? how do you feel about it? HEH, what a question. I listen to so much music that I actually - much like my reliance on hugs (physical or ephemeral) to get through the working day, did you know the average human body needs music to live? A fact, proven by empirical data, most likely.
Just going by 'most recently listened to,' I'm not entirely sure if it's accurate to call this 8-bit, but a chiptune rendition of Wolf at the Door that I somehow had on my digital audio player (because I refuse to use modern phones, like the curmudgeon I guess I am). I think 'Optimistic' would've been better suited for the workweek, but what do I know, bahaha... Apparently there's a fairly large argument about radiohead in the musical world, which was why I'm content to just devour all music and enjoy it even-handedly. It's good, and thematically appropriate. I'll take it.
The last track I listened to while doing writing, Ashes, by Dilate. A real two-disc wonder, which is unfortunate because both albums of theirs (his? I think it was basically one guy!) perfectly nail the two sides of my science-fiction aesthetic, aha. Cyclos is grim, militaristic, and feels like it's always lurking menacingly out of reach (but promising wonderful, unknowable things); and Octagon mixes ambient sound to create a feeling like drifting on frozen clouds. Both albums are good, would highly recommend if sci-fi ambient is your jam.
Finally, track I to last night while thinking about bird...
All the music in Nier/Automata is good, but I just really love A Beautiful Song, and piano instrumentals are a favourite. Truth is, I'm more a fan of an older game by the same writer/designer called Drakengard, but it seems to have largely been forgotten to the mists of time.
Tumblr media
20, Britt Willoughby Dyer (for Gardenista) snowdrop— would you say that you have been in love before?
Mmn. I think I'd say I've been in genuine, heart-over-heels romantic love twice, and an unflinching platonic love once. The kind of love that - in all cases - feels so awful after you swear you'd never want to ever feel it again, and instantly regret thinking about it because you miss it. Simultaneously, I don't regret any of those loves. Though neither of the romantic loves really turned out, I learned more about myself through them, and hopefully the same for them. And I miss my best friend every day, so it goes. Love is far more beautiful then it is terrible, but it takes me awhile to warm up to it; I'd say I'm - despite coming across as a very romantic person - mostly aromantic. I just do the best I can to treat people fairly and with the same care I'd hope they'd treat others, and it often comes across as a bit more. In both cases, it took me some time to really reciprocate, but when I fall in love, emphasis on fall, bahahaha!.. I don't know if that's how I want to end this one, though. When I think of love, I think of all the parts of it. I think there's a tendency to say 'well, if love isn't easy, it's not real love,' but - love is more then just a relationship. It's doing the best you can for one another, and being able to help the person you love (or people, but I can't really imagine that outside of fiction, honestly) through their most difficult days. I still wonder if I'm capable of doing that much, and I think it's the sort of person I aim to be. Quick edit, VERY important, I am also deeply in love with a bird (fictional) and that is DEFINITELY the point to close on, nailed it

NSFW Alphabet - Yang Jeongin (m)
Tumblr media
A - Aftercare
Despite being on the more inexperienced side, I think Jeongin is responsible enough to know that aftercare is a must following sex, whether it be making sure you both are properly hydrated or helping you change the bed sheets. Because he’s usually babied by his members, this sweet boy treasures each moment he’s able to take care of you for a change though he won’t say no if you request to be the bigger spoon for a night or two.
B - Body Part
Seeing as our dear maknae has apparently gotten buff somewhere over the years, he likely takes pride in his biceps and arms in general as he damn well should. We’ll go more in depth about it later, but let’s just say Innie likes to use his strength in more ways than one… Moving on, Jeongin will never not be a fan of your neck. Mans has a bit of a marking tendency, but hormones aside, Jeongin’s in love with your scent, which seems to be more pungent around thah area. Plus, the crook of your neck also makes a good hiding place when he’s shy.
C - Cum
The only place this man’s cumming is in a condom. He may not be a baby anymore, but he doesn’t want any other baby Jeongins showing up anytime soon. Changbin is already a handful enough as it is…
D - Dirty Secret
Now it’s a bit out of the element here, but Jeongin sometimes gets tired of being coddled by his members. That being said, he’s had some fantasies about proving his growness—fantasies that may or may not include getting caught eating you out until you’re a literal puddle by Chan or Hyunjin, or maybe fucking you into the wall just in time for Changbin or Seungmin to walk through the door. Not wanting to disrespect you or anything, he prefers to keep these thoughts to himself… just don’t ask questions if he starts to get a little handsy during movie nights with the other boys.
E - Experience
Like most of the younger Stray Kids members, I don’t think he has too much sexual experience. He’s probably made out with a girl or two over the years, maybe felt her up a bit, but that’s as far as his hands-on exploration goes. Even so, he probably has a general idea of how things are supposed to go, generously provided by stories from his members and the wonders of porn.
F - Favorite Position
Due to his lack of sexual practice, Jeongin probably has not found his all-time favorite position just yet. He’s eager to try everything he possibly can, so expect to be blown away literally every time y’all do the do.
G - Goofy
Jeongin doesn’t mind getting a little silly during sex every once and a while, but he also knows that a more sensual, serious mood is needed too. The first few times will definitely be more casual and light-hearted, kept alive by his playful grin and mischevious fingers. But even as you two begin to become more mature, that same youthful atmosphere will remain, making it feel like the first time every time.
H - Hair
He probably just lets it do it’s own thing honestly. As long as it doesn’t get too unruly, he doesn’t mind it all that much.
I - Intimacy
Seeing he’s likely never been in a serious relationship before you, he’s all about the ideal, romantic aspect of love making. And while there won’t necessarily be rose petals and silk sheets every time you guys have sex, he knows how to make you feel loved and wanted with just his touch alone. Eye contact is also a huge must for Jeongin—he needs to see your face in the moment, to watch the pleasure overtake your body as he brings you to a headspace only few have the privilege to witness. It may sound cheesy, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he has a secret plan to marry you one day, already knowing you’re his forever person.
J - Jack Off
Innie is young, so it’s no surprise his hormones are a bit on the overwhelming side at times. For him, getting off largely depends on if and when he has a moment to himself, which is quite rare between his busy schedule and lack of privacy in the dorm. That being said, he probably masturbates no more than three times a week. If that.
K - Kink
Alright hoes, I’m gonna start this off by saying Jeongin damn well has some sort of strength kink. We’ve all seen the size of those arms. Now he wouldn’t necessarily manhandle you, but if the moment requires him to pick you up by your thighs, or maybe pin your wrists to the bed cause you’re getting a little too frisky, then a man’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. He also has a HUGE thing when you get all dressed up for him, whether it be in a dress/suit or a lingerie set. Some other honorable mentions of his include marking, praise, and the occasional teasing.
L - Location
Please, please, PLEASE let this man take you against the wall, or anywhere that lets him show off his strength. He turns into some type of beast, I swear—Bonus points if y’all have the dorm to yourselves, because then he will literally take you against every single surface…
M - Motivation
The second you compliment him, this man will be literal putty in your hands. He loves, and I mean LOVES, when you praise him for his stage performances or MV scenes. And don’t let him catch you watching his fancams… or else prepared to get dicked into next year~
N - NO
BDSM is completely off the table for Jeongin. While he doesn’t mind trying something new every so often, he’s just not comfortable treading into the kind of intense territory that would require use of a safe word. He’s also just not a fan of power dynamics in general.
O - Oral
Sorry fam, oral is just not it for Jeongin. It’s nothing against you, he just doesn’t prefer blow jobs because of his tendency to finish too early, and he’d much rather practice other methods of foreplay to get you both off.
P - Pace
In the beginning stages of your relationship, Innie used to utilize a rapid, sloppy pace. After obtaining more experience, his stroke game is much, much better and more fluid, though he sometimes tends to revert back to an awkward pace when he’s close to climax. But like everyone, his skill and confidence will grow more over time.
Q - Quickie
The only time he’ll settle for a quickie is if he’s completely and totally desperate for your touch. But even then, he needs to be sure your session will take place in an environment that is both private and isolated from any other people. But once he’s comfortable and secure, he’ll drive you into the nearest wall with no further hesitation whatsoever.
R - Risk
Nope, nope, nopity, nope. While the idea of getting caught makes him feel all the things, Jeongin would rather not risk anyone actually walking in on you two when you’re being less than innocent. Especially his members, because if they do, he knows he’ll never hear the end of it.
S - Stamina
He’s got pretty decent stamina. Jeongin can usually go for some foreplay and maybe two rounds depending on how exhausted he is from his schedule. Then again, on days he is a bit more on the tired side, he wouldn’t mind sitting back and letting you do most the work.
T - Toy
The most curious boy omg. Innie’s experience with toys probably stems from porn and the dark side of Reddit, so he’ll be utterly fascinated if you own any nifty gadgets of your own. And while I don’t think he’d actively shop for sex toys, he doesn’t mind spicing things up in the bedroom with a couple vibrators, restraints, or sensation play objects.
U - Unfair
Don’t let his adorable facade fool you—this boy can be the WORST tease on any given day. He’s the type of lover that will suggestively trail his hands across your breasts and thighs, then act all innocent when you call him out. Jeongin is also an expert in getting you to tell him what he wants to hear. For example, “You want me to make you cum, baby? How exactly do you want me to do that?…”
V - Volume
Honestly, this man is a moaning machine. And you may hear some cute little whimpers and whines in that mix too… At first, he was probably a bit bashful to make any noise in that context, but after some coaxing and needed praise from you, he’ll never try to be silent again.
W - Wild Card
Let me set the scene for you: You and Innie watching some horribly budgeted rom-com you found on Netflix, and literally just making fun of the entire movie. That is, until the two main leads start making out in the back of a car. Oh, this shuts you both right up, especially when clothes start coming off and the car windows begin to steam up. The scene ends eventually, but this awkward, sexually tense silence still remains between you and Jeongin, and when you look to your blushing lover, you find him poorly attempting to cover his raging hard on. Then, he clears his throat and cutely stutters, “S-So… You wanna… you know?…”
X - X-ray
He’s a bit below average: 4.5-5 inches. But he’s got some thickness to his name.
Y - Yearning
As already mentioned, Innie tends to hold back in regards to his sexual needs for fear of coming across as a horn dog. You two probably do the nasty at least once a week, but I guarantee you can raise that number if you sit your boyfriend down and explain the concept of a mutually beneficial relationship huehuehue.
Z - ZZZzzz
If there’s one thing that Jeongin loves most in the world, it’s being in your arms after a long and stressful day. Whether or not you choose to end the night with an orgasm or two, he’ll settle himself atop your body, using your breasts as his own personal pillows, and just let his tension melt away in the comforting warmth of your touch. And though he’d never admit it, sometimes he doesn’t really mind being babied after all…
