make 9: 2024

This year, my Make 9 includes some failures from last year's Make 9, some WIPs, and some projects that need alterations -- alongside the traditional new projects. I love all these works that have been abandoned or forgotten or neglected, and so part of my goal for this year is to give them new life.

I don't know that I'll get to everything, but these are the projects I'd love to get done in 2024.

Tough Love Sock in Sunset Spice (Sweetgeorgia): intended for a knit sweater design

Throttle Moto Jacket in handspun (p: we pull apart the dark): finish spinning yarn and knitting the jacket

Handspun (p: swirling solar winds): intended for a crochet shawl design

Hand-dyed color samples (p: do you love the color of the sky): working on color-matching and then spinning and knitting

Dyed in the Wool in Dear Diary (Spincycle): intended for a crochet headband design

Tough Love Sock in Magician (Sweetgeorgia): intended for a knit pullover design

Pelagia (Borgo de' Pazzi): intended for a knit tee design

Varjo by Anna Johanna (p: we have cookies): sleeves need to be frogged and reknit for a looser fit

Falkland braids (House of Wool): spin separately into gradient yarns and use in some sort of striped shawl (probably knit)

Just back home from top surgery.

So I may or may not have got that second dog. I'm trying not to get attached yet in case him and loki don't get along because the first night was hell, but last night, we separated them for sleep, and it was good. The new dogs name is Koda, and he is such a love bug, giving cuddles and kisses and sleeping in my bed like he belongs here. His previous owners will take him back if things don't work out between Koda and loki, but I'm fairly certain it's going to be okay. I got to sleep with Koda, and he's been making sure I fall in love with his sweet little face. He went to work with Chris yesterday and will again for a few days until we can trust the dogs to get along. I can tell they like each other. loki just doesn't know how to play with another dog yet. I'm excited to have another dog to love and care for. We've gotta bring him to the vet for a check-up and some preventative flea meds. He kinda smells like skunk, so I want to give him a bath this weekend. His nails are also insanely long, so I want to trim those, too. He likes to be brushed, unlike loki, so I'm hoping he doesn't hate the bathtub either.

The year is about to end.

They say as you get older, you get wiser. I feel wiser but damn do I feel tired. But socially oh boy I feel like I have aged haha. In the end, it's better to not shut your friends out. Talk to your family and friends if you have developing issues and you're going through a rough time.

They're more likely to understand if you tell them. Obviously you have some who don't. Obviously, this does not pertain to them if they ignore you. But you feel better if you voice your concerns. You did what you had to do, now it's on them to accept it or not.

Yeah I know I got some mental and physical issues to work on but it's self-improvement you see. I took the step to seek help and got the answers I NEEDED to hear.

Everyday is a step to success.

I have set a goal for myself and I strive to do better at this list as I have made for 2024. It's not unrealistic, it's small and it'll keep me going.

The writing work has increased to keep myself improving and top form. I want to succeed this time. I see myself doing it.

Here's to a 2024 coming soon.

if you're shopping for art tablets, huion, artisul, and XPPen tablets do just as good a job as their wacom equivalents for less, sometimes even half the price.

when you buy a wacom you're paying almost exclusively for the Brand Name, not any actual quality.

I asked Chris if he could bring me something home because I was in a mood and he not only git me candies ( I was expecting something I could eat) he got me a tee shirt, a gardening books, and a really cute mug with mushrooms on it. 🥹 it definitely made me feel better and reminded me what good I have in life. My husband is the sweetest person I've ever met and I'm so lucky to have a family with him.
