Is me specifying I’m arospec heterosexual minimizing the struggle of being open about one’s sexuality? Because despite being arospec and having struggles with it throughout my life I still have straight privilege so I don’t wanna be insensitive. I don’t feel comfortable calling myself a non-arospec straight person tho.

nothing makes me more angry than searching the whole internet for aroallo books and finding like 10. 10 of them. all the other aro books are aroace, ive found at least a hundred aroace books. and then, you know, i usually prefer books with guy or non-binary main characters so i have like 5 options. anyone would like a list of the ones i’ve found ? they do seem cool, it’s just disheartening to see so few of them.

thinking about how most people would probably assume the use of Aromantic as a descriptor would imply a lack of any kind of love or romance or close interpersonal relationships in their music which is INHERENTLY NOT TRUE

thinking about Lovejoy choosing Aromantic specifically, confident enough in understanding the actual concept/culture of aromanticism to describe their entire band

thinking about the potential for there to be someone(s) in Lovejoy who is either on the Aromantic spectrum or has considered it as a possibility and has researched it to understand it (and maybe themselves) better

thinking about hard about Lovejoys songs and realising that despite a few having vaguely romantic or implied romantic connotations, you could absolutely do an aro-spec reading of their whole discography

I know it's kinda selfish, but can I have more asexual charactes that aren't aromantic? One who stands up and says that you can love without sex, and that they deserve love without having to engaging in something they prefer not to?

Also a aromantic character that isn't asexual? One who doesn't feel guilt about needing and wanting people, but not seeking a romantic relationship with them? One that is open and proud, and in no way ashamed for their lack of love and need of sex?

Please?

Edit: I realize some aroace people got frustrated at this post due to having next to no representation already, and I admit it was blind of me to phrase it how I did.

I was (unfairly) annoyed when I made this post because I kept seeing people write ace characters I really like to be aro as well. (Which is more then fine to do btw!)

This tumblr dwelling feline was a salty bean who didn't think anyone would see this.
