AU (inspired by this amazing prompt) where the Force needs vessels to exist and each generation of Jedi has their Chosen One that they consider as a sort of deity with godlike powers to match their title. Order 66 is even more brutal than in canon and almost no Jedi survives, leaving Anakin as the last Chosen One, who knows he will disappear the second the very last Jedi forgets about him or dies.
Enter Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, last ember of a dying age.
And if Anakin knows one thing, it's that he will do whatever he can to survive, even if it means making his last follower live eternally, or at least until a new Order is created with new followers.
He just never imagined that if Obi-Wan is devoted to the Force and to him, having such a personal and close relationship with only one worshipper also means that Anakin is devoted to him.

— Chapter Three: Favorite Clones

“I asked Echo to swap shifts so I could tell you this part of the story - it… means a lot to me.” Hunter started, ready to reminisce about his beloved Commander.
“Where’d ya end up getting your tat anyway?” Wrecker asked while once again scavenging your kitchen for food. His brothers also looked at you for an answer, scanning your figure for any sign of the ink.
“Tats,” You corrected before sighing, pulling down the collar of the shirt you’d been wearing, revealing the insignia over your heart. You could sense the room fill to the brim with emotions, even from Crosshair. A groan of joy escaped Wrecker’s mouth as he brought you into a tight hug - one containing so much love.
“I think it’s perfect,” slipped from Hunter’s lips, who decided to join in on the hug - subsequently the other two brothers followed. “Good choice, Commander.”
You smiled and removed your hand from Wrecker’s back, placing a hand over the new 99. You hadn’t expected to form such a strong attachment to the group, but looking back on everything, it was inevitable. “Okay, okay - guys let’s not get sappy now!”
Wrecker wiped his tear-stained cheeks, “It- It’s just that…”
“We know, Wrecker. They’re one of us,” Hunter cut in in an attempt to console his brother, “They will always be part of our squad.”
With a new-found freedom from Wrecker’s arms, you remembered, “Hey, Wrecker? Remember how you wanted to try my lightsaber and we forgot?”
As if on cue his eyes brightened and he held out his hands, squeezing his fingers to his palm in a ‘gimme’ motion. The sight made you laugh while you used the Force to bring your lightsaber to your hand.
You went over the basics with the larger clone, his brothers watching in awe as you ignited the lightsaber on a lower setting so no real damage would be dealt to your living room. The green light shone on Wrecker’s face as you handed it to him, which ended with him waving it around in an attempt to imitate the few Jedi he’s seen.
“So,” Hunter started while watching his brother swing the lightsaber at non-existent enemies, “Tech told us that you helped him feel the Force.”
“Aw, are you jealous?” Crosshair teased with a smirk on his face.
Hunter immediately shook his head (which looked suspicious, but you let it slide), “No, just wondering how you did that. Could you do it with us, too?”
“I honestly had no idea that it was possible until I tried with Tech - I’ve always been more in tune with the Force than many of my peers, save for Anakin Skywalker, and been able to wield it in ways many cannot.” You started, hoping to give Hunter a satisfactory answer, “I could most likely do the same for the rest of you, if you’d like to feel it.”
“A consular, then?” Tech questioned your reply, “I’ve been studying articles on the Jedi since your arrival with us - if I’m not mistaken, Jedi Consulars tend to not use their lightsabers unless it’s a last resort, which I have observed in your combative style. They also use a green blade most frequently, rather than the blue and yellow of guardians and sentinels, respectively.”
You nodded, “You’re correct, though I wouldn’t expect otherwise from you. My green blade reflects my status, but the crystal chooses the Jedi - not the other way around. Honestly if I had my choice of color it’d be purple.”
“Like Master Windu’s, then? I have never understood why he wields such a color.”
You laughed, “Honestly, I’m not sure either. I think it’s because of the form he developed and uses - it’s close to using the dark side of the Force.”
”Ah, I see. You believe it to be a combination of the Sith’s red and Jedi’s blue?”
You nodded, turning your attention back to the faux-Jedi Wrecker, who’s having the time of his life with your saber. You had to stifle a laugh at him running around the room, attempting to twirl his lightsaber behind his back.
“Okay, Wrecker - that’s enough. Give the Commander back their lightsaber - we have work to do.”
Wrecker huffed, not wanting his fun to end. Eventually, he flipped the ignition switch and returned your hilt, which you hooked back onto your belt.
Hunter spoke your name from beside you, causing you to meet his gaze. “Are we your favorite clones?”
“I’ve been living with you for half a year and you’re asking me that?” A rhetorical question, “Yes, you are my favorite clones. Though, there was one clone I was very close to from General Skywalker’s legion, the 501st.”
“Just haven’t seen him in awhile?” Hunter pushed, wanting to know more about this clone.
You averted your eyes and looked everywhere but at him, “Yes, I haven’t seen him in awhile. He… died. A couple years ago. It was a mission to retrieve information from a Jedi Master, who was locked in the Citadel on Lola Sayu.” You rubbed the fabric of your robes between your pointer finger and thumb, “He was so brave and kind, always eager to learn - his batchmates named him Echo.”
Hunter placed a caring hand on your shoulder, “I’m sorry for your loss, Commander. He sounds like a great guy.”
You could only nod, accepting Hunter’s comforting touch. You lifted up the hem of your robes and traced your fingers over the new ink that laid on your ribcage - 1409. The gaze on your tattoo was heavy, yet no words were spoken by anyone in the room.
Your short-lived vacation on Coruscant had finally come to an end, and it was time for your squad to set back out into the galaxy - part of you was grateful to be leaving the bustling ecumenopolis, but you would definitely miss the downtime. You had a feeling that the next time you returned to Coruscant would be your last time with the Bad Batch, and you weren’t ready for that day to come.
“Wait a minute,” A sleepy Omega asked her brother, not knowing whether the tiredness made her hear things, “Echo died?”
“He’s here with us, so no,” Hunter neglected to explain what really happened, “That is why he hasn’t told any of the story yet, though. He was… away during this time period.”
By the time Hunter finished his sentence, Omega was fast asleep with soft snores leaving her slightly-open mouth.

Would get with Kagura of the wind because why not. She’s a bad ass, controls the wind and can control the dead. Also she’s hot and sassy and can fly. She also is impossible to kill as long as she doesn’t have her heart. She also can make the wind turn into blades. He’d totally be attracted to such a powerful female and she’d be into him too.
Beyond that, they’re both super powerful tragic characters. They are not good or bad, but in between. In spite of the terrible things they do under the orders of an evil cruel master, they end up sacrificing themself for someone. They both just want to be loved and they both never really know how it feels to be free, until the last few moments of their lives.

Rey’s lack of motivation and stake in the Sequel Trilogy
I have a question to ask you. What are Rey’s motivations? What are her wants and goals and why is she even drawn to the conflict between The First Order and The Resistance?
Rey’s motivations in the Sequels.
Rey wants to find her parents.
Wants to bring back Luke Skywalker
Rey wants to find her place 
Wants Ben to return to the light
Has no real motivation to be on either side of the conflict, but chooses The Resistance anyway
Says she wants to kill Palpatine in cold blood, was close to giving in
Now she chose to fuck off to Tatooine and we see very little in her motivation to do....ANYTHING
Let’s compare Anakin and Luke’s motivations.
What are Anakin's motivations?
Wants to leave a life of slavery and come back and free his mother
Wants to become a Jedi and become a hero
Wants to protect Padme
Wants to save Obi-Wan
Wants to stop Dooku and end the war before it can begin
Wants to be a good master to Ahsoka
Wants to clear Ahsoka’s name
Wants to stop the war
Wants to save Padme and his children's lives at the cost of the Jedi and doing whatever it takes and becomes Darth Vader
What are Luke’s motivations?
Luke is a farm boy who dreams of leaving his mundane life.
Luke discovers that his father -unlike what his uncle told him, was a heroic Jedi Knight
Luke, is reluctant and refuses the ‘call to adventure’, but after the Empire murders his Aunt and Uncle, he decides to Join Obi-Wan on the quest.
Save the Princess
Luke is angered by Obi-Wan’s death at the hands of Darth Vader, and seeks retribution.
Destroy the Death Star and save the Rebellion
To be trained by Yoda
Save Han and Leia
Luke discovers his father, the heroic Jedi, is none other than Darth Vader. After years of training, he sets out to redeem his father and turn him back to the light.
After the redemption of his father and fall of the Empire, Luke goes on a journey to restore The Jedi Order
Compare Rey and Luke’s journeys in ANH and TFA. Rey wanders around and stuff is handed to her. Luke takes initiative and works for what he has. Let's compare ANH with TFA
Luke screws up on watching R2, then chooses to chase him down. He makes another mistake by spying on the Tusken Raiders instead of getting the hell out of dodge. This leads to him being knocked out, and rescued by Ben Kenobi.
Luke initiates the meeting with Ben Kenobi, and it happens because of his early bad decisions.
His aunt & uncle are killed, but thanks to his screw-up with R2 & the raiders, he and the droids are spared.
He chooses to follow Kenobi to Alderaan instead of staying on Tattooine.
He chooses to accept Kenobi's instruction in the ways of the Force, even though most people think it's a myth and a joke. Even though he's bad at it and doesn't seem to get any results at first.
He makes the decision that they're going to rescue Leia, potentially dooming their escape from the Death Star. This sets off a chain of events that leads to Kenobi's death.
Then he chooses to help fight the Death Star, even though he's not a member of the rebellion. He was offered a job with Han, and he could have ensured his safety by leaving with them. Instead he chose certain death.
Finally, he chooses to trust a literal voice in his head instead of the targeting computer.
Let's contrast that with Rey.
BB-8 runs into her. She tries to send him away, but relents and lets him follow her home.
She chooses not to sell him for food.
Finn wanders into camp on his own initiative.
The camp is attacked because BB-8 is there. The camp would have been attacked no matter what Rey did. The other scavenger was, I'm pretty sure, from the same camp. And if she'd sold him, BB-8 would also have still been in the camp.
She is forced to take the Millennium Falcon when the ship she wanted to use was blown up.
She chooses to go with Finn and bring BB-8 to the Rebellion Resistance.
She stumbles upon Luke's lightsaber, and runs away from it.
She accidentally runs into Kylo Ren while hiding in the forest.
He chooses to kidnap her because he senses something special about her.
After her first exposure to the Force, she learns how to use some of it, successfully, and escapes from Ren. And to her credit, escaping and trying the Force out is a choice she made, rather than something that passively happened to her.
Then she, um, is standing there when Han is killed.
She chooses to fight Kylo Ren, and beats him in her first lightsaber battle after closing her eyes and thinking about the Force.
She sort of chooses to go summon Luke back to civilization - I say sort of because it's not clear why she was picked to go over, say, Leia.
Luke makes mistakes, and he is an active participant in his story. Rey is just kind of there, most of the time. She doesn't make mistakes, but she doesn't really do much else.
Rey has no personal stake in this war or motivations and she’s supposed to be the main protagonist.
Rey has never left Jakku before TFA and she tells Han that ”she never knew so much green existed” when they go to Maz’s castle.
In other words Rey must have had very limited knowledge of the world outside of Jakku and all she has heard from it are stories.
Rey who barely knows anything about the rest of the galaxy, to the point that she didn’t even know that forests existed what exactly is her personal stake in the current galactic conflict?
In TFA we saw The New Republic’s capital systems blown up by Starkiller Base and we never saw a reaction from Rey. We do see Finn and Han’s reactions. Also worth noting about Rey is that if she was unconscious throughout her involuntary travel to the Starkiller Base she was never actually aware of the Starkiller Base until just before Han, Finn and Chewie started planting the explosions in order to sabotage it.
Luke, while he had no personal attachments to Aldeeran did actually get to see the horrible aftermaths of it’s destruction.
But Rey was barely affected by the destruction of the Capital systems. Most characters were not as affected as they should have been in my opinion but we didn’t even get to see her have an emotional reaction to it.
This was probably the greatest genocide in Star Wars history and our main heroine is unaffected by it? Finn has a reaction to it and he’s supposedly NOT the main protagonist?
Rey really has no reason to care about the state of the galaxy. She only seems to care if people she knows are in danger.
The fact that she is supposed to be our main hero of this trilogy when she has next to no personal stakes in the well-being of the rest of the galaxy feels wrong to me.
Finn actually has stakes in this conflict since the FO took his family and childhood away from him and Poe has stakes because he actually lives in the New Republic and doesn’t want it to be under FO’s rule. Yet neither Finn nor Poe are considered the main protagonist? But oh wait, I forgot we can’t have a black or Latino man be the leading protagonist in Star Wars
The more I think about it is Rey has no goals or agency as a protagonist. She’s just whatever the plot demands her to be. Rey doesn’t actively take the initiative and make decisions, and simply react to the world around her. There is never a reason given as to why she wants to be a Jedi. Sure, she’s heard the stories about them, but she doesn’t dream to be one like Anakin, and the writers are so obsessed over her parents that they never develop any other motivation besides that. She has to be strung along the story so she can take part in it, hence she is repeatedly chased and kidnapped throughout TFA to get her to the Resistance where she decides to find Luke because she has nowhere else to go. Part of the reason she doesn’t even train with Luke is because she has no reason to, as she’s just supposed to find him. Rey joins the fight simply in reaction to learning that Luke is responsible for Ben’s fall. She’s only ever a Jedi and a member of the Resistance out of necessity- she has no where left to go and has to fight in self defense- so they try hamfist in some motives that she needs to stop herself from becoming like Palpatine but there is no tension as it’s the final act. By the end of the trilogy it’s not even clear if the Jedi Order will return because Rey never seems to want to be one and we can only assume they will return for meta reasons- because the audience knows the ST is a copypasta of the OT.
What exactly was Rey’s motivation for getting involved in the Galactic conflict before TROS? Luke was told that his father was killed by Darth Vader and later his family gets murdered by the empire so he had personal stakes to get involved in the conflict.
Anakin was a Jedi and had lived in the Republic for ten years by the time of the Clone Wars begun so he had personal reasons to get involved in the conflict.
Rey meanwhile grew up so isolated of Jakku that she had no idea forests existed and she didn’t lose anything and the FO attacked her on Jakku. In fact she wanted to return to Jakku after she had dumped BB-8 with the Resistance. Her primary motivation in TFA was to reunite with her family but the movie never establish that her family’s absence was connected to the galactic conflict in any way.
That connection isn’t established until TROS so what was her motivation until than? The Death of Han? A guy she had known for two hours? Finn? A guy she also had maybe only knew for about two hours total by the time of their hug in TLJ? Also she seemed to have completely forgotten about Finn by the time she want on a quest to redeem the guy that has far as she should have known by that point was still in a coma with his spine permanently damaged because of Kylo.
Rey’s motivation seems to either be finding her family or her dealing with her existential crisis neither had much of a connection with the galactic conflict until TROS

While Darth Vader in canon ain’t exactly the nicest fellow, this is a Vader or Anakin who has no qualms getting what he wants and using any methods to do so.

A chance to explain, to come clean on why she - a unknown Sith- had assassinated they're precious, beloved Chancellor (what fools). But how could you come clean when there is so much blood on her hands? Never-mind the sins and blood on Vader and Luke's when her family had been alive.
When she answers it's not because she's announcing her transgressions in hope that her heavy, dirty soul might be saved. One couldn't repent when they didn't feel guilt in their sin.
"For the love of a daughter." Leia pauses and looks back at Anakin and thinks: I did this to avenge you. After thinking that Leia says one more thing - the last thing actually because she nothing else to say after this.
"And you should have been more careful electing your Chancellor. You never know who is Sith." This has double meaning but she's the only person who knows it.
And she's fine with that (no, she isn't).
Leia wonders if her younger self and Luke will ever become the monsters like her Luke had been and the monster she is.

You carefully applied the finishing touches of blush leaving your cheeks naturally rosy; you couldn’t help but admire yourself in the vanity mirror. As a senator, you always had to look your best, but you couldn’t deny the joy you felt when you had an excuse to really dress up. You stood and softly walked to your large dresser eyeing one of the many perfume bottles that sat on top. You felt a pair of strong hands grab your waist from behind. “You look gorgeous,” your husband's compliment was punctuated by a loving kiss to the back of your neck. Anakin turned you to face him, “I can’t imagine this is all for me, do you have a meeting tonight?”
“Something like that,” you mused as your fingers delicately traced his jaw. He was quick to lean in and kiss you and as badly as you wanted nothing than to feel his soft lips against yours but you had work to do. A finger from your free hand gently pushed on his lips, “Can’t let you do that dear. I don’t want you to ruin my makeup.” You slipped free from his arms and made your way to the dresser.
You were sorting through the various perfumes when Anakin leaned against the edge of the piece of furniture; his arms crossed and his expression undoubtedly annoyed. “It’s another dinner, isn’t it?”
“Yes, and it’s the last one too,” you replied as you replaced the cap on a small jade glass bottle. As much as you loved your job as a Senator-- you truly felt like you were able to make a difference for once—there were a few downsides and most of those came in the form of a select few fellow senators. The man you were to visit that evening was Sarkin Rhysode; a rather handsy old Senator that you needed a vote from. You would have given up on his vote weeks ago if your people didn’t need the aid that would come from it so bad. “You know how I feel about that man (Y/N)” Anakin’s voice was quickly picking up a jealous edge. And he wasn’t wrong, you were well aware of Anakin’s feeling towards the senator, most of them being rather negative.  You grabbed a small crystal bottle filled with an amber liquid; it had been a gift from Anakin and was easily one of your favourites.
“I know.” You gently worked the cap off and set it down on the dresser.
You were about to apply the fragrant liquid when Anakin stole the bottle from your hand. “That’s not for him.” He held the bottle out of your reach, and you didn’t bother to fight him for it. There was no reasoning with your husband when he started to act like this so why even try.
You turned your attention back to the jade bottle and carefully applied the perfume, “jealousy isn’t a good look on you Anakin.” You paused a moment before speaking anymore. “I thought Jedi weren’t supposed to get jealous.” You were trying to your growing frustration but failing miserably.
“And I thought Senators weren’t supposed to sell themselves for votes,” he spoke harshly causing you to flinch in response.
“That’s not what this is.” You turned sharply towards the closet and pushed various garments to the side until you found the long coat you were looking for.
Anakin cornered you against the closet door; on hand planted firmly on the wall. “Then why do you get so dressed up every time you have a meeting with him?” He leaned forward slowly closing the gap between your bodies. “That dress doesn’t leave a lot up to the imagination.” He wasn’t wrong. While it was still quite modest it was tight and hugged every curve of your body, it always drew the unwanted attention of men when you wore it and some evenings you used that to your advantage.
“It’s never more than dinner and you know that.” You slipped out underneath his arm and quickly made your way to the front door of your apartment before you could be stopped again. You picked up the small bag that rested next to the door and you looked over your shoulder long enough to see Anakin watching you from the door to the bedroom. “Are you coming Jedi escort?” You asked your words just as harsh as his had been. “Or do I need to request the council send someone else?”
The ride to the dinner appointed was filled with tension so thick even the droid driving the land speeder felt it and so did the staff that welcomed the two of you to the restaurant. You took the short walk to the private dining room to compose yourself. You weren’t going to win very many votes if you spent the entire night scowling in your husband’s direction.  
“It’s a pleasure to meet with you again Senator Ryshode,” you greeted pleasantly. You pushed away everything you had previously and focused purely on exuding the calm and regal persona you had made for yourself.
“The pleasure is all mine.” He took your hand in his and placed a polite kiss on your knuckles. “You look absolutely ravishing tonight.” You hated the way he looked at you and evidently do did Anakin. You didn’t need to see him to know his hand had found a home gently resting on his lightsaber. You shot him a quick glare telling him to behave and it didn’t take a genius that he had no such intentions.
“Why don’t we skip the small talk and get straight to dinner, we are friends after all? There’s no need for the silly formalities.” You offered the other Senator a gentle smile as you spoke.
Senator Ryshode led you through the doors to the private dining area. He pulled out a chair for you at the lone table and then looked to Anakin. “Is your Jedi Knight joining us tonight?”
You shook your head dismissively as you sat down, “he’ll be fine waiting outside tonight.” You regretted saying that immediately, it had absolutely nothing to do with Anakin annoyed glare and all to do with that fact that even while mad at him you wanted him there. Just his presence was enough to inspire confidence in you but keeping him there would just make everything so much worse.
The senator sat across from you but not before letting his hand rest of your bare shoulder and linger there just a bit longer than necessary. You hated this.
He hated this; being stuck watching the door while being forced to listen to you and your “date” talk. Obviously, this didn’t mean anything to you, you had reassured Anakin of that fact many times, but he couldn’t stop the jealousy he felt every time he could hear your laugh or the surge of jealousy he felt every time he was able to make out the flirty comments. He knew it all meant nothing but that didn’t stop it from hurting.  
Anakin looked out the window various land speeders speeding by, how long had you been in there and how much longer did you plan on staying? He was getting impatient, to say the least. His inpatients, and jealousy, were about to get the best of him when you and the other senator stepped out of the dining area.
“This evening has been lovely Senator (Y/L/N), how would you like to continue it for a bit longer in my quarters? They aren’t far from here.” Senator Ryshode glanced at Anakin smirking, “I’m sure I make much better company than your brooding Jedi.”
Anakin was ready to snap, but you worked fast. Your fingers brushed against his arm fast enough for it to look like a mistake to any on-looker, but he knew it was your way of attempting to reassure him. Whether it worked or not was debatable but none the less he appreciated the gesture.
“I wouldn’t be so quick to judge Master Skywalker, Senator Ryshode.” You were slowly walking away from the senator not wanting to seem impolite but eager to remove yourself from the situation. “He’s a very skilled Jedi and usually makes for wonderful company. He’s just had a long day, surely you understand.”
“Well—”
You cut the other senator off quickly but as politely as possible, you had a reputation to uphold after all. “Much like our dear Jedi knight I too have had a rather long day and I want nothing more than retire for the evening.” You linked your arm through Anakin’s and gently held his bicep. He lived these small public displays of affection; for the small things he could do without fear of you two being caught. “Thank you for dinner, Senator. I wish you safe travels home.” You waved with your freehand and followed Anakin out of the restaurant.
“Did you get the vote?” asked Anakin quietly. You already knew where this was going. 
“No.”
His grumpy yet smug expression could only be read as “I told you so.”
Hardly half an hour later you found yourself sitting in front of your vanity once again. You slowly worked the mass of pins that had held your hair in an intricate style. “Do you want to talk about it?” You asked. Anakin hadn’t moved from his spot against the closed bedroom door since you had returned; he hadn’t stopped staring at you either.
“What’s there to talk about?” He tried to hide that immense jealousy that still burned inside him, but you knew him far too well.
You stood and your bare feet made no sound as you padded across the plush carpet. You stood in front of him for a moment before deciding how to proceed. “Anakin,” your voice was quiet as you placed your left hand on his shoulder and your right hand cupped his cheek; your thumb gently brushing over his cheekbone. “You’re obviously still upset.”
His posture relaxed quite noticeably from your touch, how had he not noticed how tired he was. “I’m not up—”
“Anakin, please…” you trailed off wanting to choose your next words carefully. Your husband wasn’t always the best at talking about the things that troubled him and trying to pry it out of him would just lead to another fight; you had to be gentle. “If we don’t talk about this, you’ll let the jealousy eat at you and consume you until you snap.”
It had happened before and you remembered that day, all those years ago, vividly and the way he had yelled at you. You had avoided him for well over a month after.  It was something you never wanted to experience ever again. “Please, for me Ani.”
“I don’t like the way he looks at you, I don’t like the way any of them look at you; you’re mine.” He gripped your waist the silky fabric of your nightgown sliding under his hand. “And the way they shamelessly touch you, like they don’t care who sees.” He was looking at you so intently that you involuntarily shivered.
You stood in silence for a few moments making sure he was done speaking; the last thing you wanted to do was interrupt him. When you were positive, he had nothing else you say you spoke your voice still quiet, “Anakin, I am yours. You never need to worry about that. I love you, don’t doubt that.” The hand that had been on his shoulder slid to rest on his chest. You found yourself absentmindedly toying with his robes, “I wish we could be more open about our relationship; I really do. But we both knew what we were getting ourselves into when we started this.”
You leaned up onto your tiptoes and pressed your lips to his in a loving kiss. “I’m yours and only yours.”

My Obikin Playlist Masterpost Part 2
Not that anybody was really waiting for this, but here is the second part of the playlist with an explanation for each song. If you are interested in reading my rant on the first 20 songs, you can check the post I made last week HERE.

This entire song is about how someone's life gets absolutely destroyed by drug abuse. Or at least, that's how I always interpreted this. But drug abuse always makes me think about any kind of obsessions doing exactly the same thing. So I love this song for Anakin in particular. That "I was one in a million" giving me this "Chosen One" vibe. Like he got lost on the way to what he was supposed to be, and now that he's fallen he has no clue how to get back to what he was supposed to be, that one in a million.

Another classic song that is in basically any ships' playlist. And it fits so much with unrequited love (or pining in general). How can I not think of Obi-Wan trying desperately to be a good Jedi while he's well aware of his feelings for Anakin?

This entire song makes me think of one of those situations where both of them are pining and convinced that the other is about to tell them something that would end up breaking their heart. Basically first half is Obi-Wan knowing from the start that they won't work, maybe because he thinks Anakin is in love with Padmé and that's what Anakin wants to talk about; second half is Anakin, sure that Obi-Wan would deny having feelings for him because of how much he loves being a Jedi so he tries to be a better Jedi for the sake of Obi-Wan. Because I love the trope of both of them being too oblivious to realize they are in love.

I'm perfectly aware that this is a song about faith. It's basically like a call to pray because even when you are lost the one person that will always be there for you is God. BUT, this actually works pretty well for the Jedi Order too. And if we think of how Anakin joined the Jedi, how he felt like the only thing he would lose is his mother, it kinda makes sense with these lyrics. And even Obi-Wan: he was given to the Jedi when he was so young that that's the only life he knows. At the same time, it can be about Anakin and Obi-Wan finding that solace in each other too, because sure, the entire Order is there to support them. But it's almost like it's their last option to them, because when in need the first person they go to is the other.

You should know me by now. If a song that is basically perfect for Obi-Wan post RotS, I'm gonna find it. And this one is just PERFECT! Like, Obi-Wan absolutely feels like he owes something to the universe because he is the one who failed Anakin, who allowed him to fall. So I imagine him wanting a do-over, a chance to stay away from Anakin so that Anakin can be better and his own heart can't be broken in such a terrible way. Basically, this is also perfect for a time traveler Obi-Wan trying to fix things from day 1.

Nothing fancy about this one, just Obi-Wan realizing there is a wild side to the cute, totally unable to flirt young teenager he took care of for so long. Basically something to write smut on. You all know you need these kind of songs too. (And I picked the acoustic version because it gives me more soft love-making vibes, but the original one is perfect for a more passionate kind of mood).

I was forced to put the live version from the original composer in the playlist, but a couple of weeks ago I posted a link to Maneskin's cover of this song (which, isn't on Spotify). You can check it out HERE, with a full translation of the lyrics (yes, Italian songs will always be a thing for this playlist, get over it). Like I said in the tags of that post, this is just another one of those songs that give me post RotS Obi-Wan feels. Just him all alone and heartbroken wishing he could feel Anakin's love just once more. Simply perfection.

Do I even have to explain this? It's basically perfect for all of Anakin's issues with jealousy, but with what yellow eyes mean in this fandom it could absolutely be about Sith!Anakin. It's just such a fitting song for these two, with Obi-Wan trying to reason with a very unreasonable Anakin... (And I might have anonymously suggested to someone to listen to it as a good song for their fic. *coff coff* @tennessoui *coff coff*)

But it can also be just Anakin and Obi-Wan in an established relationship, since this is technically a song about a ten years anniversary. I just LOVE IT. It's super sweet and we all need fluff sometimes.

Definitely can picture teen Anakin pining over Obi-Wan to the tune of this, all awkward boners at absolutely inappropriate times and Obi-Wan never truly pointing it out, because he doesn't want to make Anakin even more uncomfortable.

Being a woman, I know perfectly that this song is about how sometimes women have to grow up to be mean because of all of the abuse they go throw in their life. But I kind of see Anakin as this person that would absolutely blame everyone else for his fall to the Dark Side and this works so well! Like, the doll house is a metaphor for how the Jedi Order was supposed to be his home, but in the end he felt like he was used, like the Jedi told him they loved him just to trick him into doing whatever they wanted, basically cheating him of a simpler life with his mom. And even the looking in the mirror thing could be when he's already in the Vader suit and he doesn't know if Vader is what he was supposed to be all along or somewhere inside him there's this young innocent child trying to get out. What can I say, most of the times I have Obi-Wan feelings. But every once in a while I find something twisted enough to give me Anakin/Vader feelings too.

Okay, this is kind of perfect for a very specific kind of AU. Like, the "they used to be childhood friends, then got separated by life, but they were always meant for each other, so after meeting once by chance after years separated, they can't go back to their life, they have to stay with the other" kind of specific AU. The song might work with how the Clone Wars kept them separate too, but... yeah. It's kinda specific. Sorry not sorry.

Once again, ignoring that this is a song about a couple breaking up after one of the two cheated because this is also perfect for Anakin confessing his love for Obi-Wan as soon as he's a Knight. He was sure that would make Obi-Wan accept his love and try to get in a relationship, instead Obi-Wan panicked and asked to get sent as far away from Anakin as he could. So of course Anakin is filled with regret about his confession.

Another song to write smut to, but smut with feels. Mainly Obi-Wan's, that maybe feels like Anakin played with him just so that they could sleep together, but never actually tried to put a pin on what their relationship is supposed to be after. And Obi-Wan realizes that part of the reason is that Anakin is still so young and maybe he's the one that made a mistake. Like, he's not even sure that what he feels is real, but he still keeps following what Anakin wants because what is the alternative after all?

This song can honestly fit multiple things. It can absolutely be Obi-Wan accepting that Anakin reaches out for him only in certain situations and him always being open to it, no matter how their relationship isn't really the traditional kind of relationship (like, a friends with benefits kind of deal). But it can also be Obi-Wan and Anakin getting together when Anakin is already Vader, so Obi-Wan is slowly falling to the Dark Side too. You can also just use this as another song to write soft love making too since it's so slow and soft. Or just do whatever you want with it.

Yeah, that's the angst that hurts in the best way! (But, you know, can totally be reversed to Obi-Wan in love with Anakin in a canon scenario with Anakin married to Padmé.)

Back with the complicated relationship and the angst. Can see this in a canon compliant AU with both Anakin and Obi-Wan not really wanting to admit they are in love with each other, but somehow they always end up sleeping together, and telling the other how much they love them just to regret all of it the day after. Basically making things complicated for no reason other than Obi-Wan not wanting to break the rules/his belief that he's meant for infinite sadness, but also because Anakin can't give up on this twisted love despite how much it hurts him and being petty in trying to make Obi-Wan suffer just as much.

Not putting lyrics here because this entire song gives me Obi-Wan on Tatooine post-RotS vibes. Like, he's literally on the planet Anakin came from, there to protect Anakin's kids. OF COURSE he sees Anakin's "ghost". Like, he sees so much of Anakin in Luke when he grows up. And it feels kind of fitting as a punishment for Obi-Wan to be slowly going crazy because he keeps being haunted by this image of Anakin around him. Literally this line: "why you gotta make me weak to make me stronger". That's Obi-Wan trying to get over this love for Anakin and realizing that he has to mourn and suffer before he becomes stronger and able to get free from this ghost's hold. (But, you know, Anakin's ghost might even be actually Anakin, in a scenario where Anakin is actually trapped inside of Vader and trying to get free by reaching out to Obi-Wan for help.)

#3 - What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)

oh gosh...(yeah I do go for the super detailed world building set ups, don't I? 😅😂) let's see...
Well, I'm sure if I really took the time to wrack my brains about this I could come up with several, but then I'd have to either choose or resign myself to a ridiculously long post so...alright, so, I have this star wars au floating around in my head right, and most of it is fairly serious, generally speaking, but it also contains these three (so far) scenes that are just complete and utter crackfic.
I've written a grand total of one (1) of them, which I posted on April Fools day and you can read here if you're so inclined.
As for the other two, I'm putting them under the cut bc this is still getting really long:
1) basically, I have this one scene where Ventress winds up killing Maul, then melting down his legs and then having them made into a tea set which she then gives to an extremely bemused Obi-Wan for his birthday (yes this is extremely weird, no, I don't know how the fuck I thought of it but it's strangely hilarious to me, so there you have it) which is ridiculous on it's own but then you've got
2) which is a follow up to the april fools day snippet, in which anankin-undercover-as-darth-vader convinces tarkin that Quinlan Vos is his own, entirely fictional, cousin Sergei who just so happens to look exactly like the definitely super dead Jedi Knight and who is also an extremely loyal informant for the empire. A few years later, a few more 'Imformant Sergei" incidents have happened (Anakin saw the opportunity to troll the hell out of Tarkin and ran with it; Quinlan is more than happy to facilitate this, and so is everyone else who's working with them. All incidents are recorded and safely stored to show ahsoka when they finally track her down) and what happens is this:
For leverage against the rebellion reasons, palpatine has ordered Princess Leia (roughly 15 years old at this point) taken hostage by "Vader's" "sith" apprentice, Mara Jade (who's been secretly actually Anakin's second jedi padawan since she was about seven, which Leia is aware of but Bail isn't). Rex (who is completely unaware of the whole "massive undercover rebellion right underneath the emperor's nose" thing and therefor the fact that leia isn't actually in much of any real danger) goes to investigate and try and rescue her.
Stuff happens, Palpatine orders Mara to kill Leia and Mara (who had already been planning to fake her own death, bc as she grew into her strength in the force, Palpatine had started paying more attention to her which was getting dangerous. she'll join luke and obi wan in secretly living in the secret rooms in "Vader"'s star destroyer lol) explodes the building that she was holding Leia in, successfully faking BOTH of their deaths.
Rex runs into the girls on their way out, and when a group of storm troopers spot them he decides to head them off so that Mara and Leia can escape.
This turns out to not be immediately necessary, bc said storm troopers are actually Cody and an assortment of other de-chipped clone troopers. Cody gets as far as explaining that to Rex, when Tarkin shows up.
He, predictably, zeros in on Rex bc he remembers him from the clone wars and doesn't like him and because he's Tarkin, he decides to order Cody to take off his helmet and execute him.
Cody, obviously, isn't going to do that and goes with the only option left to him: break his cover. So he and his troopers all draw their blasters on Tarkin, at which point Tarkin calls his own troopers to surround them.
Then he starts monologuing: blah blah glory of the empire, blah blah, traitor, blah blah, 'if only you demonstrated the same loyalty that Informant Sergei does without any kind of programming.'
That makes Cody snort, and Quinlan, who's been lurking this whole time waiting for an opportune moment, can't possible pass over the dramatic entrance potential and reveals himself like, "hah, bitch you wish!" and blows his OWN cover.
So Tarkin is about to lose his shit, Cody's panicking, Rex is both panicking and completely confused, at which point Anakin-as-Vader along with a bevy of stormtroopers who include Appo, Boil, Kix, the 212th's medic, and Obi-Wan shows up.
Cue Rex's confusion and panic squaring itself when this, for some reason, makes Cody relax.
Tarkin's like, "Ah Vader, you're just in time to assist me in doing away with these traitors"
And internally, Anakin's like 'fuck fuck fuck' but externally he's like, "Traitors? whatever do you mean?"
And Tarkin tells him what just happened and Anakin thinks fast and goes:
"Oh, yeah they're definitely not traitors, they have until just now been on an important mission for me among ancient...sith...ruins! And it appears that they have all been exposed to a sith toxin which causes confusion, aggression, and muddled loyalties."
And Tarkin maybe buys that? but either way, he goes,
"Well, in that case, they're useless to us now, so we might as well put them down and be done with it."
And Anakin, maybe panicking a little, goes, "Do you really think that I would send such valuable assets into such a situation without having some kind of treatment on hand?"
Tarkin: Oh, and what treatment would that be?
Anakin, mind going blank: Medic, tell the Grand Moff about the cure.
Kix, trying to murder his general with the force of his glare alone underneath the helmet: Yes Sir. The...only cure to such a...toxin...is...a...special tea! Brewed...in the...legs of the vanquished enemy of...the ancient and powerful Jedi...Ben."
Obi Wan, Anakin, and everyone who still has the benefit of a hemet: *tries not to laugh audibly but are about to rupture something containing themselves*
Rex: What? the fuck?? is happening???
So, Tarkin buys it, and Anakin and his men 'subdue' Cody, Quinlan, Rex and co. and bring them back to their shuttle, where Mara, Leia, and Luke reveal themselves and they explain everything to Rex, who at this point is more or less certain that this entire day has been some sort of bizarre fever dream.
And I'd love to write the whole thing out! but to do that and have it make any sort of sense I'd have to write just...so many chapters of context and everything leading up to it which is...a lot of stuff. So maybe I'll get to it eventually, but it's not event the first star wars au on my list of stuff to write, not even taking into account all the stuff for other fandoms, so it's probably going to be a long time until I get to it, if I ever do 😅

Cody raised his head from his datapad to meet Obi-Wan’s gaze. “If you finally are.”
“And what does that mean?”
Cody refused to take Obi-Wan’s outstretched hand when he stood up. “We’ve all been waiting for quite some time for your arrival.”
A shout came from the waiting gunship. “It’s been a very long two minutes, General.”
“I see, then let’s not dally any longer or I’ll be caught up in whatever mess Anakin’s gotten himself into again.”
Cody gave his helmet a spin in his hands before setting it on his head. “Very good.”
As the two men turned towards the gunship, Obi-Wan pressed his hand against Cody’s back. He let it longer for a moment too long- just long enough for Cody to know, but not long enough that the men would suspect anything- before he drew back. “Any new developments in the time I’ve been gone?” He asked once they had boarded the gunship.
Cody waited until the doors closed before he responded. “None that I’ve heard. Still looks abandoned. But I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Obi-Wan turned to the sergeant beside him. “Any bets today?”
“Currently, we’re tied on whether we’ll be shot down or not. You’re the tiebreaker.”
“Has Cody voted?”
Cody slowly turned his head to the side to fix Obi-Wan with the blank stare of his helmet. “I don’t like to invite catastrophe, unlike some men.”
Obi-Wan smirked and turned back to the sergeant. “Very well. I’ll vote that we’ll be shot down. It’s been too quiet around here.”
“Hear hear, sir!”
Obi-Wan looked back to Cody, who had turned forward to stare at the approaching planet through the slits in the gunship walls. “Is that satisfactory for you?”
“Let’s just say I hope that I don’t have to say ‘I told you so’ anytime soon.” Cody gently elbowed Obi-Wan, poking the point of his armor into Obi-Wan’s side.
“How painful that would be.” Obi-Wan let go of the gunship handle to bring up the holomap of what had been mapped out of the planet’s surface below. All helmets turned towards him as he began a quick briefing on what to expect on the surface. He stopped midsentence when the gunship shuddered and the lights went out.
“Obi-Wan?” The last thing Obi-Wan saw before he was thrown across the ship was Cody looking to him for answers.
When he came to again, Obi-Wan found himself in the rear of the gunship, legs tangled in the walker they had brought with them. He groaned as he became aware of an ache in his torso, he must’ve slammed into the walker before his legs did. When he untangled his legs and rose onto his hands and knees with a groan he realized that he was kneeling on the gunship wall. He raised his head to see sunlight filtering in from where there had once been a door. He followed the path of the light to a pile of yellow and white armor. Using the walker, he pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the strain it put on his bruised torso, and stumbled over to the center of the ship. His eyes scanned over the dead bodies of his men, searching for the one that he didn’t want to see. When they locked on a familiar helmet, barely visible to him behind what remained of the door, Obi-Wan fought through the tangle of bodies and plastoid to fall to his knees beside Cody. He reached out to his commander and was surprised to feel life still moving through him in the Force. Obi-Wan fought down a sob and gently removed Cody’s helmet, taking joy in watching the way his hair fell from the helmet to his forehead in loose curls.
Obi-Wan took hold of the gunship door in the Force. He had just begun to lift it when a cry and a pained voice interrupted him.
“Stop, please, stop.”
Obi-Wan stopped, not moving the door further away but also not daring to let it fall back down. “Cody. It’s me.” Keeping his focus in the Force, he reached a hand down to cup Cody’s jaw and turn his face towards him. All thoughts of the gunship door left his head when his hand came back bloody and he noticed the small trickle of blood that was making its way down Cody’s cheek. His focus was brought back to the situation at hand when Cody groaned as the door sunk back into his chest. Obi-Wan lowered his hand to Cody’s chest, resting it right above the bloodying wound. “Cody.”
Cody’s eyelids fluttered open at the sound of his name and a tired smile graced his lips at the man before him. “Cyar’e.” He mumbled.
Obi-Wan took his other hand and gently wiped away the blood from Cody’s lips. “I’ve got you, you’re safe.”
“I told you so.” Cody muttered against Obi-Wan’s thumb, the slight exhale of speech pushing more blood down his lips.
“Yes, you did.” Obi-Wan felt a tear slide down his cheek. “I shouldn’t have joined the bet.”
Cody parted his lips to respond, but his attempt at speech ended in a bloody cough that sprayed blood droplets onto Obi-Wan’s robes.
Obi-Wan reached his arm behind Cody’s neck and leaned against the gunship floor that now served as the wall beside Cody. He pulled Cody’s head down onto his shoulder and leaned his own against him, careful not to tug his torso against the door. “I’ve got you, love.”
Cody didn’t respond and Obi-Wan felt another tear tracing its way down his cheek to join the first at the hollow, wet sound of Cody’s breath. He wanted to beg Cody to stay with him, plead with him to stay awake, to keep fighting. But he couldn’t. Attachment was forbidden for a Jedi, love less so, and he didn’t know if he could ever allow himself to feel the devotion that so many beings across the galaxy felt. Now, Obi-Wan understood why. If a Sith Lord were to show up at this moment and ask him to fall to the Dark Side to save Cody’s life, he would. He would forsake everything for him. But a Sith Lord was not here right now, so Obi-Wan pulled Cody tighter and closed his eyes, focusing on the life still in his love.
He didn’t hear the approaching gunship, didn’t hear the footsteps outside, didn’t hear the conversation growing closer until they were on him and he found himself being pulled away from Cody. Obi-Wan fought the arms for a moment before he gave in and watched Anakin cut away the wing of the ship from Cody’s body, allowing a team of medics to move him onto a stretcher. He found himself moving towards the stretcher, being pushed and pulled along by the captain who had pulled him back. On the gunship, he collapsed onto the ground in Rex’s arms and watched the medics flitting around the stretcher, clinging to the feeble spark of life coming from it.

Over the next two weeks, Obi-Wan led the 212th in a campaign against the Separatist forces that ended in their eventual defeat. When he returned to the Venator after negotiating the terms of surrender, he decided to shower before visiting Cody in the medbay. The last he had heard of him, he was in an induced coma as the medics strived to fight off infection.
To Obi-Wan’s surprise, he found Cody laying across his bed, datapad in hand and signing off on some forms. Cody looked up at his arrival, lips blossoming into a smile at Obi-Wan’s presence. “Hello, cyar’e.”
Obi-Wan crossed the room to the bed in two strides, leaning down to take Cody’s lips in his. He didn’t protest when Cody wrapped an arm around him and pulled him down to his side. Obi-Wan pulled back from the kiss when Cody flinched under his touch. “I’m sorry, are you okay?”
“Just don’t touch anything in the front.” Cody maneuvered Obi-Wan’s hand to a safe spot on the side of his hip and curled up beside him, resting his head against Obi-Wan’s chest.
“Cody, love, I need to shower.”
“Well, I need you here with me. Which one are you going to choose?”
Obi-Wan shook his head and kicked off his boots, letting them fall onto the ground beside his bed, before bringing his other hand up from under him to lay between Cody’s cheek and the pillow. He traced the bottom of Cody’s scar with his thumb, the familiar sensation returning the comfort that had been missing for the last two weeks. He ran his fingers over the scar tissue until Cody’s breaths deepened into a peaceful sleep. Only then did Obi-Wan close his eyes and follow him.

Do you believe that Anakin and Padme are reunited in the afterlife? I know some fans say that George confirmed they are but I was reading a blogger gffa's (Lumi) meta talking about how it goes against all the worldbuilding of how non-Force-sensitives cannot retain their consciousness in the Force after death so Anakin would only be able to speak to Shmi and Padme through the memories he has of them. That saddens me greatly tbh and honestly don't believe that considering certain things.
Kind of. But before I get into that let me explain that the idea force-sensitives and non-force-users can’t ‘mingle’ in the afterlife is incorrect. It’s actually supported by movie canon, George lucas and Disney’s canon. Only force-sensitive can become force-ghosts but that doesn’t mean the SW’s version of heaven is for force-users only.  
It was something that was *always* meant to be part of the sw lore.
"In the rough draft Luke is asleep and struggling with thoughts of Vader and the dark side. Yoda and Ben are also present in the dream, and Luke berates Ben for not telling him that Vader is his father. Yoda explains that he'll soon be joining Ben in the Netherworld, and therefore he'll become stronger and will be better able to help Luke. Vader's voice reappears, and Luke awakens" ―First mention of the Netherworld in Episode VI's rough draft

A way to become one with the Force. If you choose this path to immortality, then you must listen now, before your consciousness fades.” Obi-Wan sensed confusion and remorse in Anakin’s psyche, then Anakin answered, “But Master … why me?” “Because you ended the horror, Anakin,” Obi-Wan said. “Because you fulfilled the prophecy. Because you were … and are … the Chosen One.” But Obi-Wan knew in his heart that those were not the only reasons. He added, “Because I was wrong about you. It does seem George himself said Anakin reunited with his loved ones after death. I couldn’t find the actual sources but I did find many fans claiming it’s true. Either way, there’s plenty of evidence to support this, even though the form they are ‘reunited’ is not the same one would expect from the Christian concepts of heaven and hell.
Every living being that dies goes to the same place: they become one the force. Padmé, Shmi, Qui-Gon, Anakin, Obi-wan, etc. They all go tot eh same place.
"[During the early story sessions for ESB] George Lucas and Leigh Brackett had lengthy discussions about Luke's training with Yoda and decided to turn the lessons into proverbs and commandments. ... The Force also was discussed in great detail. In the story meeting transcripts George Lucas defined the Force as follows: The act of living generates a force field, an energy. That energy surrounds us; when we die, that energy joins with all the other energy. There is a giant mass of energy in the universe that has a good side and a bad side. We are part of the Force because we generate the power that makes the Force live. When we die, we become part of that Force, so we never really die; we continue as part of the Force."  Annotated Screenplays
It seems they don’t maintain their identities unless they are trained and that only lasts for song long. Most people would die and become one with the Force. A few trained force-sensitive swere able to maintain their identities and presence in the physical real for a time. But they too could choose to join the Force with the others later (like Obi-wan and Anakin did). So, in a way, yes, Anakin and Obi-wan were reunited in the afterlife. Just not as ghosts or even themselves (on the ‘traditional’ sense).
“I strengthened the Alliance, although that was not my intent.” He extended a glimmering arm. The mellow voice sounded wrong. The mild, naked face didn’t look as if it’d hidden for decades behind a black breath mask. “Leia, things are changing. I may never be able to return to you.” [Kathy Tyers. The Truce at Bakura]
“Luke?” The voice came softly but insistently. Pausing amid the familiar landscape of Tatooine—familiar, yet oddly distorted—Luke Skywalker turned to look. Asleep in his suite in the Imperial Palace, and dreaming of Ben Kenobi. “No, I’m not a dream,” Ben assured him, answering Luke’s unspoken thought. “But the distances separating us have become too great for me to appear to you in any other way. Now, even this last path is being closed to me.” “No,” Luke heard himself say. “You can’t leave us, Ben. We need you.” Ben’s eyebrows lifted slightly, and a hint of his old smile touched his lips. “You don’t need me, Luke. You are a Jedi, strong in the Force.” The smile faded, and for a moment his eyes seemed to focus on something Luke couldn’t see. “At any rate,” he added quietly, “the decision is not mine to make. I have lingered too long already, and can no longer postpone my journey from this life to what lies beyond.” A memory stirred: Yoda on his deathbed, and Luke pleading with him not to die. Strong am I in the Force, the Jedi Master had told him softly. But not that strong. “It is the pattern of all life to move on,” Ben reminded him. “You, too, will face this same journey one day.” Again, his attention drifted away, then returned. […] The vision seemed to waver and become fainter. “And now, farewell,” Ben said, as if he hadn’t heard the question. “I loved you as a son, and as a student, and as a friend. What happens after that it’s open to interpretation. George Lucas borrowed a lot of concepts from many religions and if the thought of Anakin and Padmé’s reuniting in their afterlife is comforting to you then that’s what happened. There’s no right or wrong here. There’s only what works for us. Some may see this as the final end and other will see a new beginning.

Summary:  After murdering Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic, Vanya Doyvesky joined leagues with both Death Watch and Darth Maul, hoping to reclaim her Mandalorian warrior heritage. Jumping from hyperspace, Obi-Wan flew into the Mandalorian atmosphere, which was barren with no trees or bushes, except for smoke rising from cabins, where people lived away from the city of Sundari. Despite that, however, they weren’t free from their new ruler, who monitored their citizen’s livelihood.
The port on Mandalore, however, was quite the contrary. With ships landing and departing from their respective platforms at the same time, workers on the docks were preoccupied with unloading supplies from outside. There were security guarding the docks, making sure that nothing suspicious happened under their prying eyes.
As the Twilight was about to land on an empty spot, a Mandalorian guard watched as the fins folded upwards, with Obi-Wan controlling the ship from the stuffy cockpit he was forced to endure. Surrounded by smokes and shaky controllers, he braced himself as she landed on the ground smoothly.
He sighed in relief as the lights were cut off, when one of the controllers beside him burst into a small flame, making him jump. “Anakin, that's the last time I borrow a ship from you,” he grumbled as he got off his seat and grabbed his helmet that was worn during his last mission to save the Chancellor.
Walking out with his Rako Hardeen disguise, the ship’s platform opened halfway, causing Obi-Wan to stomp on his foot to force it open. He inspected the condition of the ship, with the oil spilling from the engine and more smoke blowing from the exhaust port. Sometimes I wondered how Anakin took care of his own ship in the first place.
“You better get your ship looked at,” one of the guards came up to him, silently judging.
“Oh, it's my friend's ship,” Obi-Wan answered smoothly as he rested his hands on the handle, only for the platform to drop suddenly, making him stumble. Parts of the ship were peeled off as the nuts and bolts were loosened from its grip, further embarrassing the Jedi Master. “He told me it was perfectly fine. Terribly sorry about that.”
“Do you have a landing permit?” the guard asked, ignoring the crash sound from the Twilight.
“Um, I think I left it in the ship,” he pretended to check on his pockets, before gesturing to him. “Come with me, and I'll get it.”
The guard followed him all the way towards the ship’s common area, only to be knocked out in just one punch. The Moogan traders were startled by the faint sound, before continuing with their business. Obi-Wan emerged with a full set of Mandalorian armour, along with a jetpack and a brand-new helmet. After putting them on, he looked around and headed towards the airspeeder that was parked in front of his ship.
Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched by Bo-Katan Kryze and her renegade soldiers. With a smirk painted on her face, one of her soldiers pulled out their blaster, only to be stopped with her head shaking. Activating the vehicle with a press of a button, Obi-Wan drove into Sundari, without any knowledge of what he was about to walk into.
Meanwhile in the Royal Prison, Satine’s eyes were closed as she pushed herself to focus on peaceful thoughts. Remembering the techniques to calm herself down whenever she was locked inside a cramped space, she breathed in while squishing her thumbs to sedate herself from her fear.
Obi-Wan noticed specks of her shoulder-length blonde hair as he glanced at her from behind, before unlocking her cell. Assuming the disguised guard as either Vanya or Maria, she didn’t bother to turn around. “Here to do more of your master's bidding?”
He took off his helmet and gave a warm smile, announcing his presence. “I do my own bidding.”
“Obi-Wan,” she beamed as she sprung up and wrapped her arms around him, much to his pleasure. Feeling each other’s warmth for a moment, Satine broke off their hug as she searched for both his apprentices behind him. “Are you alone?”
“Yes, the remaining Jedi Council and Republic officers will be no help to us here,” he told her, as he took a peek at the corridors, which were seemingly empty. Taking her hands, he dragged her towards the lift, waiting for the next one to arrive.
“I trust you have an escape plan then?” Satine raised her doubts, as Obi-Wan put on his helmet.
“As always, my dear,” he winked as the lift door slid opened, only to stumble upon Maria Doyvesky, who was waiting for them to enter. Playing along with his part, he shoved the Duchess inside the lift as it closed, heading towards the prison exit.
Peering at Satine and Obi-Wan, she wondered if she ever said anything about transferring prisoners from one block to another, before realising she didn’t. “There's no record of a prisoner transfer here,” she pointed out, not breaking eye contact with the both of them. “Care to explain yourself, soldier?”
“The orders came from upstairs,” he hesitated, looking away from the Chief of Security.
Now why would I give an order from one of my men upstairs on prison transfer? Maria blinked, until she recalled what Katrina told her earlier on in the hallways. “Hey, could I talk to you for a moment?”
“Oh, umm…”
Before she could begin her sentence, Obi-Wan knocked her as the lift opened, leaving her lying on the ground. Blood oozed from her nose as she watched them escape towards their speeder, making her scream in fury. “Get your ass back here, you son of a bitch!” Maria raged as she got up, chasing after them.
Obi-Wan and Satine drove away as the commando guards tailed them all the way to the docks. The others who were patrolling the area saw them heading towards the ship, asking for reinforcement. “It's the duchess,” one of them shouted. “She's getting away.”
Buckling up inside the cockpit, Obi-Wan lifted the ship in the air as Death Watch opened fire towards them. “We have to contact my sister for help,” Satine suggested, holding his hand. “She'll send reinforcements.”
“Who's your sister?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. Before he could leave, however, the engines took the worst hit, causing the ship to blow up. “Brace yourself!”
As it twirled in the air, Obi-Wan stood up and rushed out of the cockpit with Satine beside him. “Let's get out of here.”
Within a second, the front part of the Twilight was pulled apart, causing Satine to grip her hands tighter as she found herself hanging for her dear life. “Obi-Wan,” she cried.
With an ear-piercing crash and a huge explosion, Obi-Wan's grasps loosened as they crashed to the ground. The debris of the ship crushed Satine who was underneath it, prompting the Jedi to lift it away with the Force. Her eyes were closed as he tried to reach her, only to hear a familiar footstep.
He took a peek and saw his best friend walking towards him, giving her hands. “It's okay, Obi-Wan,” Vanya reassured him, caressing his cheeks in a gentle manner. “You're safe now.”
Sighing with bliss, he took her hands and gazed at his childhood best friend, with whom he shared a close bond. From sharing a piece of candy with each other to training their Padawans together, Vanya was the only friend he could rely on when it came to his deepest, darkest secret. For a while, her disappearance after the Battle of Coruscant made him stay up all night, wondering whether she was still out here, until today.
“Thank goodness you're here,” he smiled as he rubbed behind his head. “I thought something bad happened to you.”
“I'm alive and well, burc'ya,” Vanya smiled back genuinely. “I was worried about you too. I heard that Dooku really took over Coruscant and destroyed the Jedi Temple.”
“Yeah,” he nodded, sadly. “And he took Eva and Lira too.”
“I know, Obi-Wan,” she pulled him into a hug, frowning. “I miss them too. They were like daughters to me.”
“They were,” the Jedi Master let out a sniffle. “I still have their toys with me. You know, the cowgirl doll, their tooka doll, and a raggedy doll that Padmé gave them.”
“And the hummingbird droid that Lira built from scraps.”
“That too,” he bobbed his head when he saw his lover on the floor, making his jittery. “Goodness me, I almost forgot about the Duchess. We need to get her out of here.”
Vanya sealed her lips together as she watched him carry her in his arms, leaving her beaming for the couple. She remembered him telling all about her, and how they used to kiss before Obi-Wan had to separate from her. She finds their story romantic and yet sad, as she was aware of what's going to happen next.
I hope Maul spared both of them, she thought, as Obi-Wan glanced at her. “Do you happen to have a spare ship around or something? We need to get Satine to safety before Death Watch gets to her.”
“Oh, yeah, we do, actually,” she lied, as she led them to the same speeder they took. “I could lead you to my family’s ship, if you want to.”
He took a seat behind, holding Satine with him. “Thank you, Vanya,” he showed his appreciation. “I knew I could always count on you.”
She could only fake a smile as she felt remorseful for her actions that she is about to undertake against them.

Several months after their emancipation, Cliegg had asked Shmi’s hand in marriage—to which she happily said yes. Irele had just turned nine that time; she and mother had grown quite close to the Lars father and son. The joy in her little heart of having a bigger family was overwhelming, it’s almost as if she forgot that she and Shmi were ever a slave. That life of theirs was now past. Irele now has a father figure, and a brother to boot—and she was content.
Eventually, Irele had known friends who were the children of the other farmers that Cliegg worked with. She was also introduced to Beru Whitesun—a fair-skinned brunette who caught her stepbrother’s heart—the two girls grew quite close too quickly. The Lars siblings still helped around with the farm, Shmi had started going to the fields with them as well; though the toll of their debt to the Hutt was slowly catching up to them, having them to work extra hard and persisting to yield more crops so there’s enough to sell and to keep for themselves.
One day in the middle of working in the fields with her mother and stepbrother, Irele’s gaze trailed to her mother—bent down to pick the crops and vegetables that were ripe for the taking, she smiled to herself as she stared at Shmi, until a mild pang pierced her head.
“Irele, are you alright?” Owen noticed and caught his sister by the arm.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” she groaned. “Just the heat, maybe.”
“Do you need something to drink?”
“Sure, thanks.”
Pausing from work, she isolated herself from one of the canopies they’ve put up if ever one of them decides to rest. She continues to examine the scene of the field: the farmers including Cliegg, her brother, and her mother working. Though she always focused on Shmi; her grip on the waterskin faltered, causing some drops to spill over, and then sighed and decided to close her eyes to doze off for a bit. As echoing screams in Shmi’s voice haunted her mind, she woke up in a jolt—a single scream escaped when she woke and it alarmed the workers in the field. Shmi ran up to her daughter under the canopy, Cliegg followed behind his wife.
“Irele!” Shmi gasped. “Irele, are you alright?”
Shmi brushed up the loose strands of hair dangling over her daughter’s forehead, sweat smeared on her palm. Irele gasped when she opened her eyes once more and saw Shmi.
“Oh, Mom…”
“Darling, what’s happened?”
“Nothing, I…” Irele shook her head, incapable of explaining what she had just experienced. “This heat is making me see things.”
“Oh, Irele, dear,” Shmi clicked her tongue and sighed. “It’s alright. You can sit down for the rest of the day. You don’t need to work anymore.”
“Okay, Mom.”
Shmi smiled, though it was a worried one. She brushed Irele’s hair back to her ear and returned to work.
“If you need anything, Irele, don’t be shy to call, okay?”
“Okay, Dad.”
Not wanting to worry her family with such episodes, Irele decided to bottle it up to herself—even if the visions mostly revolve around her mother. But there was something else—something that she cannot pinpoint. She was seeing things that are about to happen, which she dismissed as pessimistic imagination, though she doesn’t know that these are events that are about to unfold. Little did she knew that the Force was making its way to her, to warn her of something horrible that has yet to come.
The next few months have been difficult for Irele herself—the visions and the voices persisted—oftentimes she wakes up in a cold sweat when the nightmares have become more jarring. She pretended that everything was fine, though she’s become increasingly worried for her mother, most of the time she pleaded Shmi not to work in the fields and just stay at home—even offering to help around in the house. Shmi detected this new concern from Irele, and then unconsciously recalled the same words that Qui Gon Jinn uttered about her son: seeing things that have yet to happen.
A Jedi trait.
Shmi shook her head and granted Irele’s request, staying at home when the ten-year-old pleaded so. It eased her for a bit whenever Irele’s expression changed when they spend the day at home, however, it worried her that her daughter was perhaps foreseeing events that could spell disaster for the family and ultimately damage the poor girl.
There was one day where Shmi went out alone, before the break of dawn, to the fields. It took her half an hour to scrounge and pick up mushrooms that she needed for her family’s meal today. The chore became her undoing. Tusken Raiders have been prowling the ridges as a vantage point over the fields, they have been scouting the fields in the hopes of raiding the crops. They saw Shmi walking off from the fields, carrying a satchel of mushrooms and other vegetables; not wanting any witnesses, they sprang out on her in numbers—their primal grunts echoed across the empty dunes, Shmi’s scream was short-lived and drowned out by theirs.
The Tuskens incapacitated Shmi by hitting the back of her head with the pommel of their long rifle. They bound her ankles and wrists, and mounted her like a ragdoll on the saddle of their Bantha.
Their echoes have died down, leaving the desert as desolate, quiet, and empty as it always has. Irele gasped, wide awake, beads of sweat dotted her forehead.
“MOM IS GONE!!” She announced with such a loud voice that it was heard throughout the entire homestead, up to the outdoor rotunda.
Cliegg was awakened by the sound of Irele’s voice, but only registered it as a loud sound; he was alerted when his free hand patted his right hand side and found Shmi’s side of the bed empty. He knew that it was her routine to leave early to pick out crops before everyone else gathered in the fields. There was daylight already. Normally, Shmi would have returned even before the sun had risen. When he stood up from bed and comforted Irele in her bedroom, a look of concerned veiled his face as he saw his stepdaughter all wide-eyed and breathing heavily.
“Irele, it’s okay, your mother just went out to pick out mushrooms, it’s okay.” he shushed but it was futile.
“Sorry, Dad, I need to go.”
“Go? Go where?”
Irele spoke while she prepares herself—putting on her overshirt, slinging her bag across her body, and producing a staff that she procured on her own.
“I’m sorry, I just really can’t say. But I do have a gut feeling that I just can’t ignore. Something’s not right, Dad.”
Cliegg was speechless. Irele joined him on her bed, sitting beside him.
“I’ll contact you with the comlink, okay? Keep the lines open.”
The man held his daughter’s cheek, taking a good look at her made him realize that she greatly resembled her mother.
“Be careful. And come home quick.”
She nodded and then left with a small speeder bike. When she had gone a considerable distance from the homestead, Cliegg commanded Owen to call the men and tell them to stand by. Going in the direction of the fields, Irele’s worry grew and grew with each passing moment. When she had caught sight of the vaporators’ silhouettes sticking out, she slowed down the speeder bike and hopped down even before it had gotten into a full stop.
Irele spotted Shmi’s tracks—a straight line from the fields to where she stood—and then discovered more. The footprints were jumbled, indicating struggle, and an impression that might have suggested that a person fell over to the ground—the girl was certain it was her mother. She searched for more tracks, propping her staff in a cautious, offensive position, and then stepped forward to the fields but was immediately stopped when she heard a shuffle amongst the sand and rock.
“Tuskens…” she muttered.
She examined the sand once more—a trail of a neat, single line, with impressions that make it too hard to guess how many have walked in the exact same path laid out before her. Tuskens, alright. She surveyed the surrounding ridges, the distance from the fields to the openness of the desert, and she thought it wise to deduce that it was indeed them. She produced her comlink and reported back to Cliegg before heading home. She already had the presumption her father had prepared a search party.
Anakin Skywalker is in a perpetual unrest with himself. Mainly because he had been having nightmares of his mother—the haunting echoes of her agonizing screams, her calls for help, and the quick jab of dead silence had been keeping him awake at night.
That morning, he strolled out of his bedroom and found himself alone in the garden veranda of the guest house that he and Senator Padmé Amidala are staying in the Lake Country of Naboo. He basked in the morning sunlight, the cool breeze wafting through the sleeves of his long beige shirt and drying the sweat smeared across his chest. Padmé found him there and quietly turned around to leave him alone.
“Don’t go,” he simply said, though pleadingly. It stopped her in her tracks. “Your presence is soothing.”
The young Jedi Padawan opened up about his nightmares to the Senator, she hints at the shakiness in his voice, imagining what kind of dreams could he be seeing in the middle of the night. When push comes to shove, the senator insisted she will go to Tatooine with him.
“I’ll go with you.” despite the softness in her voice, there was the conviction that cannot be persuaded anymore.
Upon their arrival, they hired a carriage into the town to escort them from the docking bay. Returning here brought back memories for Anakin—many of which are bittersweet. The carriage had brought them to the market district of the town, where it had passed by a lonely stall—or lack thereof—manned by a single Toydarian.
“Chut-chut, Watto,” Anakin greeted.
The blue, aging Toydarian grumbled at the robed stranger who took the component and started tinkering with it after speaking in the local dialect. Watto greeted back the young stranger in his raspy, aggressive native tongue then transitioned into a bumbling mess when he recognized the Jedi robes; Anakin ignored all this as he was focused with the machine component.
The Jedi spoke once more, again in dialect, “I’m looking for Shmi Skywalker.”
One more minute passed and it hit Watto.
“Ani…?” the Toydarian gasped. “Little Ani?”
Anakin didn’t speak. He simply put down the component back on the small table between him and Watto.
“You are Ani! It is you!!” Watto burst.
Following a few more compliments and one-sided catching up, Watto cut to the chase in the hopes that he can have the boy catch some people who owe him money.
“My mother.” Anakin demanded.
“Oh, right, of course… Shmi!” bumbled Watto. He scratched the back of his chubby neck as he arranged the words in his mind. “She’s not mine anymore… I sold her.”
“Sold her?”
“Years ago. I sold her to a moisture farmer named Lars. And believe it or not! I heard he freed her—and married her! Whaddaya think o’ dat, eh?!”
Both the Jedi and the senator’s reactions were identical: their lips parted and their eyebrows furrowed. Anakin licked his lips and leaned closer.
“Do you know where they are now?”
“A long way from here,” but Watto should have known that is not enough to deter the boy. “Someplace on the other side of Mos Eisley.”
“I’d like to know,” he spoke through the grit of his teeth.
Nervous, the Toydarian gave in and filled him in with all the details. Inside his newer yet smaller shop, the hovering creature produced a small ledger with a tattered leather cover. Running a clawed finger lightly on the page, careful as to not rip it, he stopped after two taps on a specific line of writing.
“I was right, it was Lars!” he chortled.
“Where does he live?”
Watto groaned, poring over his ledger again, and then moved his finger to another part of the page.
“He lives in ‘da Salt Flats, eh, you’ll find it close to Anchorhead. You know Anchorhead, eh, Ani?”
Without answering, Anakin turned tail—with Padmé walking by his side, trying to keep up with his strides—and mounted their rented carriage. Anakin ordered the droid that pulled it to bring them to a point-to-point transport service to get to Anchorhead.
Along the entire trip, Padmé could not find an opening to speak with Anakin; it began to sink into her that she’s only tagging along with the young Jedi’s personal mission.

(i’m almost done with the first chapter of the fix-it, so will maybe be able to post it soon?? but have an experiment with another one of my au’s where boba is force sensitive and jango is Big Gay so doesn’t know how to ask for help properly and somehow convinces obi to teach him the basics by rescuing him on geonosis when he was unable to get a message to anakin. it a mess. i hope boba cuddles suffice!

  “You’ll have to let me go eventually,” Obi-Wan says one night, with Boba sitting in his lap meditating. Jango looks up from the datapad where he’s calculating their next jump, and raises an eyebrow at Obi-Wan’s serene expression. 
  The jetii had appropriated a stretch of floor in the galley for a folded blanket to act as a meditation mat, which means Jango can keep an eye on them during Boba’s lessons, but Jango has come to find it’s a lot less moving things with your mind and a lot more sitting around thinking. Boba seems to be enjoying himself, though, even if Jango isn’t used to seeing his kid so calm for such long stretches of time.
  He shakes away the thought and focuses back on Obi-Wan, who isn’t even looking at him, his eyes closed as he pretends to meditate for Boba’s sake. 
  Jango snorts. “I don’t have you under a suppressor,” he says, adding another digit to his calculation. “You could have escaped weeks ago.”
  “Mm, perhaps,” Obi-Wan murmurs with that kriffing smile that makes Jango want to shoot him and be done with it. But Boba still needs a teacher, and Jango doubts he’d forgive him if he tried to kill Obi-Wan. Again, anyways. 
  “I think you’re avoiding the jetiise,” Jango says, like this is something they do, and they don’t: they try their damndest to stay away from this topic, to talk about almost anything else to avoid being reminded of how precarious this arrangement is. 
  They’re existing on borrowed time, and Jango knows Obi-Wan is too perfect a Jedi to leave the war for much longer. He’s spoken with that padawan of his, of course, but there’s no possible course of events where Obi-Wan doesn’t return for him. No matter how much Jango might want him not to. 
  Obi-Wan lets out a little sigh, the sound impossibly intimate in the quiet rumble of the ship. “Jango,” he says and finally opens his eyes. He checks on Boba first, expression the sort of affectionate that has gotten Jango into more trouble than he cares to admit. 
  Carefully brushing the hair from Boba’s face, Obi-Wan somehow manages not to disturb the kid from his trancelike state as he drops a kiss onto his forehead. 
  They’ve been at this for five ten-days, sequestered in the Slave I and only making landfall on neutral planets long enough to restock, and yet it sometimes feels as if Obi-Wan has always traveled with them. As if he’s always puttered sleepily around the galley in the morning making hetikleyc caf, or helped Boba with his reading lessons, or joined Jango in the cockpit after Boba’s gone to bed. As if their... scuffle on Kamino had never happened.
  “I cannot abandon Anakin,” Obi-Wan murmurs, glancing up with that serene expression peeling at the edges. 
  “I wouldn’t ask you to.”
  He sighs again. “I know you wouldn’t, just as I would never ask you to part with Boba. And I cannot abandon my family to face this war alone, I cannot ignore the Jedi’s place in it, but I... would not abandon you and Boba, either.”
  Which is the crux of the problem, isn’t it? That Jango has ruined this man by forcing him to choose between two families.
  Well, in his defense, he hadn’t gone into this with the intention of getting attached, either him or Boba, but Jango should have known better, with the sort of luck he’s been living with since he was ten standard years. It makes him wonder about Obi-Wan’s own luck, if it landed him here with them.
  With him.
  Obi-Wan’s eyes narrow as if he knows what he’s thinking, but is luckily trapped until Boba resurfaces, so Jango is safe to level him with a glare warning him against reading his mind. 
  Scoffing, Obi-Wan straightens against the wall. “You do not intimidate me, Jango Fett.”
  “There must be something keeping you here,” Jango snorts, “and I don’t think it’s my charming smile.”
  “No, it’s the charming smile of your progeny,” he returns easily, any bite softened by the fact Boba is leant against his chest like he belongs there. Then Obi-Wan’s smile slips a little, and Jango knows the Slave I is too small to run from this conversation. “What do you plan to do?”
  Jango lets out a slow breath and sets aside his datapad, somehow already exhausted with this. “Well, we can’t go back to Kamino, not unless the jetiise are suddenly willing to be very, very forgiving,” he says, unsurprised by Obi-Wan’s grimace of agreement. “I was thinking Concord Dawn.”
  “That’s a gamble. Are you in contact with other Haat Mando’ade?”
  Jango grunts. “Not any that would be willing to give us asylum. But there are a few old clans that might help us get on our feet.”
  “You could...” Obi-Wan clears his throat and lets his face twist. “You should stay in neutral systems, I can’t imagine Count Dooku would take kindly to you in CIS space.”
  Jango hmms non-committedly, eyeing him; sometimes Obi-Wan has all the subtlety of a rancor, when it’s something he’s overthinking, and Jango would really rather he didn’t have to think about why he knows that. 
  “I cannot read minds, Kenobi,” he offers, when Obi-Wan has gone back to watching Boba meditate. 
  “Ah, well.” He clears his throat again, Jango noting with backburner delight that he’s blushing underneath his beard. “It... crossed my mind that Stewjon has remained a neutral party in every galactic conflict since its first settlers. Their system is too small for the CIS to care about, and the Senate gave up on them decades ago.”
  “Stewjon,” Jango repeats and, even knowing that it’s impossible to follow Obi-Wan’s thought process at all times, it still throws him off centre. He only knows Stewjon even exists because he almost hyperjumped through it on his first flight with Jaster, and you don’t tend to forget the planet you almost exploded with bad math. “Alright, jetii, I’ll bite: what’s on Stewjon?” Obi-Wan’s expression twitches, the fact he won’t meet Jango’s eye more telling than any lie he might be thinking up. Jango knows him too well, too fast, to be fooled. “I thought you were a temple bastard.”
  “I was,” he says softly, brushing over Boba’s hair again. “The healers do genetic tests to make sure they don’t accidentally poison the younglings. I never went looking for my family, but I’ve visited Stewjon for cultural festivals several times; the Stewjoni are a bit insular, but are welcoming to refugees. They have similar creeds as Mando’ade regarding children, and would certainly welcome Boba into their schools.”
  This is bigger than Jango has the time to process at the moment, bigger than the way Obi-Wan has let Jango hold his ‘saber or see him without his many layers, bigger than the way Obi-Wan has stuck around them by choice for so long. Jango doesn’t try to stop himself from asking, “And does your ad know about this?”
  “No. I’ve never told Anakin.”
  “Then why in Corellian Hells are you telling me.” 
  Obi-Wan shrugs, but that’s not good enough. Jango pushes himself to his feet to lean against the table instead, and maybe Obi-Wan also knows him too well, too fast, when that’s all it takes for him to give in. 
  “I can’t keep Anakin away from the war, not with what the Senate is asking of the Jedi. I can’t keep any of them safe, not even the younglings, but I can get you and Boba somewhere as far away as possible.”
  “You don’t owe us anything, Obi-Wan,” Jango says. “If anything, I owe you.”
  “For the kidnapping, yes,” Obi-Wan chuckles, like he hadn’t been forcibly rescued from his execution on Geonosis by the very bounty hunter he had been trying to apprehend, and then forced at blaster-point to train his force-sensitive clone son to control his newfound powers. “I do not have to owe you anything to help you, Jango. That’s somewhat the core of the Jedi code.”
  “Still,” he grumbles. That smile returns, and it really would just be easier to shoot him. Then, against his better judgement but with Sheeka a burning hole in his mind, Jango says, “And when the war is over?”
  Obi-Wan fully flinches and drops his gaze. “Well, it’s a little early for that sort of talk, isn’t it?” And it doesn’t matter if he means early in the war, or early for them, because Jango knows his answer will be the same. 
  He watches Obi-Wan start to coax Boba back to reality, his kid blinking back awake to the soft lights of the galley, and tucks that question away for later. War waits for no one, least of all them.

A/N- we’re moving onto endgame! You know what that means five year time jump! And for that I decided to make this cool bonus chapter! There is some writing that matters to the story coming forth so 😏 but beside that this will include just “posts” from the characters! Let me know what you thought!! Its crazy to think that five years have passed, that you have been down in this strange planet for five years. What’s even crazier is that Steve and you have been together for four of those years (almost five). Well maybe dating him for that long wasn't that strange now that you thought it through, mainly because throughout those five years Poe has stuck around, even after the disaster confession that almost destroyed your friendship completely.
And saying that it wasn’t completely changed after that day was a lie, it was just you trying to be optimistic and trying to forget the fact that he hardly talked to you for a year, that he had confessed his love for you, a confession you neither returned or commented anything at all actually. Just left your own confession, the whole conversation locked in a box to never be opened (hopefully not anyway)
Why was the need to do so anyway? It’s been five years. Five years of the both of you just living life and acting as if nothing happened, him trying to date and you forgetting your feelings for your long time friend and being....happy...with Steve. It was all just going great. Really great!
To the point where both Steve and you chose to go on a double date with Poe and his date.
Great.
“It’s not to late to leave, you know?” You whisper to Steve as you get walked to your table, “we can still catch that Rom-com movie we wanted to see.”
Said man chuckles as he pulls your chair for you to sit, pushing it in a couple seconds after before commenting with the same humor, “and miss this great date? No.”
You groan dramatically and drop your head on his shoulder. Letting him wrap his arm around your shoulder and rest his own head on yours, “it won’t be that bad. Poe and you are good right?”
You shrug and lift your head off his shoulder, “yeah. He’s been distant lately but we’re good.”
As if you had been summoning him said man appears, following after the waiter with a small and pretty brunette at his side. They both sit across from Steve and you, the girls eyes landing on you before landing on Steve sitting next to you, a wide grin appearing on her soft features and her eyes almost seeming to give a glow as she keeps staring at Steve all star-struck—a look you now recognized only after seeing them another other people before.
“Hi, I’m so glad you guys could make it.” You greet with a forced smile, “almost thought you were going to bail.”
“You wish.” Poe jokes making your eyes roll. He then moves his hand and places it on the girls back, whispering something in her ear that made her look away from Steve to look at you with the same happy grin. An action that ticked you off for an unknown reason. “Kacy, this is y/n.” Said girl extends her hand out to you.
“Hi it’s so nice to finally meet you! Poe talks about you a lot, almost thought he was making you up.”
You shake her hand and keep your forced smile plastered on your lips, “it’s nice to meet you too.” You glance at Steve to try and introduce him, even you knew she him, “this is Steve.”
Kacy moves to shake his hand, her green eyes once again giving off that sparkle, “it’s such an honor meeting you.” Steve smiles and her eyes keep glued on him as she speaks to Poe, “you never told me we were coming to dinner with Captain America.”
Poe responded with a serious tone that didn’t match his smile at all, “It was a surprise.”

After ordering your food, after getting it brought to the table the girl never stopped talking. But unlike the other girls Poe’s dated, Kacy was...how do you say it in a way that didn’t sound rude, uhh..less of an airhead. She actually talked about dilemmas that went on around the world, and or talked about her job as a fashion designer. She was smart, but here’s the thing, every time she talked it was all just directed to Steve. And yes you couldn’t blame her, in her planet he was a famous hero, but she could be considerate to her actual date.
The only moment she even slightly included anybody else was to talk to you, to ask if Steve had proposed yet. It was question that you simply answered with pressed lips and a shake of your head. While Steve chose to stay silent, just making the whole conversation more awkward. Making Poe chug the remainder of his beer to ease the awkward situation on his part, his mood deflating and growing quieter than he already was. Something that let you speak to him to try and at least make him feel somewhat better.
“How you liking it so far?” You questioned Poe, who’s eyes were fixated on his plate, his hand just mindlessly twirling the pasta on his fork, not noticing you asked him something until you repeated your question.
“Oh, uh. It’s good.” He forced, a half smile tugging at his lips, “wouldn’t mind food from home though. I miss it.”
You nod in agreement, sharing a small laugh at a passing memory, “you know what I miss the most? Snaps food creations. His mixture of food from the rations we would get!”
“Yes exactly! Man even if the rations by themselves were tasteless he had a way to just make them taste gourmet.” Poe beamed, “he would always say he was going to retire and become a chef.” His smile faltered at the memory of his fallen friend, “I miss him.”
“Yeah me too.” Noticing Poe’s mood begin to drop back to what it was before, you decided to leave Kacy unbothered and let her talk Steve’s ear off. “I never told you but when we were starting out in the defense fleet, I uhh....” you pause and cringe at your next comment, “I had a crush on Captain Antilles.” You glance up at Poe who now had a wide grin, his white teeth showing perfectly.
“Oh sweetheart I noticed. I would hear you and the other girl pilots gush about him. I would also see the heart eyes you gave that man when he wasn’t looking. But I do think your eyes widened more when we saw Luke Skywalker.” Poe teased, dropping his fork on his plate and fully engaging with your conversation.
“I could’ve died happy that day we saw Luke Skywalker.” You laugh, “plus you can’t blame me, Antilles was a war veteran. He fought alongside Luke Skywalker and General Organa. He was a walking legend and one of my favorite pilots.”
“You said that about Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker.” His grin turns smug, leaning himself closer to you to ask a ridiculous question. “If you had to choose between those three and Captain Antilles, who would you chose—”
“Don’t.” You interrupt, “I’m not choosing favorites, that’s impossible.”
“Fine,” Poe shrugged, his smug demeanor never fading, “then who would you choose to join your squadron?”
“Pfft,” You breath, rolling your eyes in a lighthearted way whilst leaning in as he did to respond with the obvious answer, “Easy, Han Solo. Only because he did the Kessel run in 15 parsecs.”
“Ah,” Poe shook his finger before you both corrected your answer in unison, “12 parsecs.” The both of you share a hearty laugh, the moment being like it would be before. Feeling like it was just you two and no one else in the room.
The feeling quickly vanishing as Kacy joined the conversation, “what’s so funny?”
“Oh, uhh.” You glance at Poe, both of your laughs dying off and only leaving faint smiles, “just stuff from back home.”
Kacy nods before turning to Poe, “I think it’s time to go. We’re all done with our food.”
“Sure thing.” Steve agrees, waving over the waiter for the tab.
“How about we all go back to the compound?” Poe oddly suggested, his eyes sliding over to you, “I learned a song on my guitar I would love to play.”
Without verbally asking for an answer, Steve and you shared an unspoken conversation as you both looked to each-other, minutes later sharing out loud your response, “sounds great.”

“How about you come over tonight?” Steve asks while tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear, while you wait for Poe to come back down with his guitar. “We can watch a movie? And in the morning I can make you breakfast?”
You wrap your arms around his neck and smile, “watch a movie?”
“Or whatever you want to do.” He grins.
You bite your bottom lip and nod, “a movie is fine.” At the sound of approaching footsteps you pull away and sit on the couch beside Steve, with Kacy sitting at his other side, a huge smile on her red lips as she watched Poe.
“I just learned this, so don’t judge. I’m looking at you y/n.”
“I would never,” You snicker before propping your elbow on the couch’s arm and resting your head on your hand, “go. I won’t judge.”
Poe takes a deep breath before he begins to strum the strings, his eyes downcast and focused on what he was beginning to play, the silent strumming beginning to sound like the tune of a song. A quiet humming coming from the back of his throat before he drawled in another deep breath and slowly began to sing. His voice sounding soft and sweet like the melody of the music, the tune slowly picking up like the lyrics he sang.
His brown eyes coming up for a few seconds to meet your own, a soft smile appearing on his lips as he noticed the amazed expression you carried on your features. Tears slowly thereafter brimming your eyes, the soft smile on your own lips never leaving, the sound of your heart thumping in your chest picking up gradually at the brief glances Poe would share with you. Or at the little things you noticed, like the way his, his eyes briefly closed at certain moments, or the way his eyes crinkled when he sang certain lyrics.
Stars.
The tears that pooled your eyes, quickly ran down your cheeks as the sound of lyrics Poe sang hit your ears, words that touched your heart more than it should have ‘and its been a while but I still feel the same..Maybe I should let you go.’
More hot tears streamed down your cheeks as he continued singing, words that tore your heart in two and made you question everything all over again. Slowly coming to realization about something more, about feelings that never left. The feeling becoming overwhelming to the point that it made you rush out of the room and close yourself in the bathroom.
“Fuck me.” You cursed under your breath, running your hands through your hair before placing them on the counter-top. “What’s wrong with me?” Turning on the faucet you placed your hands under the running water, pulling them to splash your face only to drop the water as you remembered the makeup on your face—which was mostly ruined by the stains the tears left behind. “Stupid.”
The sound of the light tapping on the door made you pull away from the mirror to slowly open the door to see Steve with a worried expression painted on his face—“are you okay?”
You nodded and lied, “yeah, I just wasn’t feeling good.”
“You sure?” He pressed, his hand reaching to caress your cheek.
Responding with a silent hum you walked out back to the living area, meeting Poe gaze for a second before looking away and excusing yourself out to the group.
“It’s been a fun night, I really enjoyed it,” you feign a smile, “but uh I’m not feeling that well, you know I—”
“You’re pregnant?” Kacy interrupted abruptly and too enthusiastically, causing Poe to choke on the water he was drinking and for your eyes and Steve’s own to widen alike.
“What?!” You squeak, “no! Haha no. No. No.” Was that too many “No’s?” “It was the food, I just don’t think it sat well. I’m going to go to bed. It was nice meeting you Kacy.” Without waiting for an answer from anyone you walked away knowing Steve was following.
“Y/n, are you sure you’re okay?” He stressed again.
Turning around you stop before him and nod, “yeah. Is it fine if I go over another night? I’m not feeling okay.”
“Sure.” Steve agreed with hidden disappointment, his eyes catching Poe’s curious gaze on you before he turned away. “Goodnight. I love you.”
You smile sweetly and press a light kiss on his lips, “night.”

ENL Writer’s Commentary: Chapter 6
In his teens, Obi-Wan thought he knew what made a perfect Jedi and thought he'd been a failure, barely scraping by. As an adult, he'd questioned some of that, outside the influence of his Master's constant criticism, but he'd still done his best to outwardly project what he thought a Jedi should be. He'd assumed everyone had known it for the lie it was, but apparently the one person who needed that knowledge most never had.
....
It was sacrilege, in this time, to think such things. Even the age at which Luke and Rey started training would have completely disqualified them, Anakin too old at nine despite blazing like Tatooine's twin suns in the Force.
This whole part is both my attempt to show a little more of what Obi-Wan feels about the Force and Jedi training in particular, after having lived so long both in and outside of the Order. What the contemporary Jedi Order practices was not always what the Jedi Order practiced and it certainly wasn’t what Luke’s Order would have practiced, so Obi-Wan knows a lot better.
I don’t think Obi-Wan was necessarily a wreck of insecurity that some fics show, but I don’t think he was half as confident as he shows (in a lot of the EU stuff, at least, we see him doubting his ability to raise and train Anakin well, for example). He was abused and neglected during his childhood and that has an effect on someone.
On Melida-Daan, there were no Temple Jedis, and it was Obi-Wan who followed the Force to each citizen with even the slightest hint of potential.
....
He tried to teach everyone techniques to shield their minds and the most force sensitive he gave creche games as training until they were ready to do more.
So one thing I’m kind of going with here is that there’s a level of midochlorian count required to be a Jedi, but a lot of people still have more than just...nothing. And also that Melida/Daan, in the state it was in, probably wasn’t having people checked for Force sensitivity, anyway. With maybe a hint of “people can become more sensitive to the Force with proper training” thrown in there.
Cerasi and Nield joined them, even, sometimes, and while they had no Force Sensitivity of their own, Obi-Wan was training them to feel the edges of their unexpected bond, to utilize the Force through Obi-Wan's own abilities. After a few months, they could not affect the physical world, but Nield was starting to feel the truth or lies in people's words and Cerasi had feelings, sometimes, like the slightest hint of Obi-Wan's precognition.
For example lol
This goes back to the canon where Cerasi and Nield are shown to have an almost preternatural connection with Obi-Wan from the start and that since he isn’t blocking his own Force use this time around, that’s a strong bond between them. Open and free-flowing, I feel like that would allow them to utilize parts of Obi-Wan’s abilities that maybe he isn’t using/doesn’t have time to focus on.
He wasn't even surprised it was Qui-Gon Jinn, suspecting Yoda's hand in that.
Yoda is the literal worst in the JA books. I very much prescribe to the idea he kept other Masters from choosing Obi-Wan and that everything about Bandomeer was basically manufactured to force Qui-Gon to take him on.
More often than not, it was Jango, lounging nearby and Obi-Wan could swear he heard the Force screaming “danger” at Qui-Gon every time he got too close to Obi-Wan. Even with the buy’ce hiding his face, his glaring was obvious. 
Even without Galidraan being a total massacre, any traditional Mandalorian is going to despise the Jedi. Even moreso for the ones who are coming to care about Obi-Wan and know what Jinn did.
“No, it’s not. And if the Council had sent me to the ExplorCorps instead of the AgriCorps, I wouldn’t have even protested leaving.” Not entirely the truth, but not entirely a lie, either. “I have friends there, who I will hopefully be in contact with again someday, but my family is here.” 
So in both the Legends/EU stuff and the Disney/canon stuff, younger Obi-Wan actually loved flying. There’s a point in the Master & Apprentice book where he has a hugely traumatizing event involving it, which is what started his dislike, but before that he learned basically everything he could about every type of ship he could. It was one of many reasons his assignment to Bandomeer made no sense, since everything showed he would fit better in the Corps that actually had to do with flying.
“Obi-Wan--”
“Archon.” Obi-Wan held back a sigh at Qui-Gon’s incredulous stare. “We informed you, Master Jedi, of the titles of the Ruling Three of Melida-Daan. You are also free to address Archon Cerasi, Archon Nield, and I as ‘your grace,’ if that suits you more.”
As much as he didn’t want another title, when dealing with offworlders they needed such formalities. They’d dug it up out of old holos, like so many of the rare glimpses of Melida and Daan culture, and decided it suited them better than trying to work around “governor” for three people.
Trying to come up with a governmental system that wasn’t overused, didn’t depend on me making up a bunch of words, and didn’t have any negative connotations in the Star Wars universe was really hard haha I play a lot of fantasy games, so “Archon” really amuses me. And “Triarchy,” which is what the ruling body is referred to going forward, flows a lot better off the tongue than some of the other options.
Also I love the power play of Obi-Wan reminding Qui-Gon that they don’t have any sort of formal relationship anymore.
“This isn’t...you can’t honestly mean to stay here! It’s been months already!”
“When did you start to miss me, Master Jedi? I doubt it was when you first returned. Or for weeks after that. Was it when you could no longer dodge the questions of where I was? When others mourned my loss? When your grandmaster scolded you for failing his plans again?”
Qui-Gon didn’t know what to do with an Obi-Wan who was both assertive and informed, anymore than he ever had.
I love tearing Qui-Gon apart haha JA came out when I was a teenager and so I’ve always sort of despised him, and none of the earlier Disney/canon we get on him makes me like him anymore, at least in regards to his relationship with Obi-Wan.
In the JA books, other people have to continually push him to try to get him to think about Obi-Wan during the time period of the Melida/Daan stuff, like to the point Bant broke down in tears over it. And then Qui-Gon continued being a complete dick to Obi-Wan after he got back, which this Obi-Wan obviously would know.
He strode to the door with a confidence his teenage self couldn’t have felt. Through the Force he felt Qui-Gon move to follow him and Jango step between them, keeping him inside until Obi-Wan could make his escape.
Later, Jango would pat him on the head in passing, but not speak of it. Somehow, though, half a dozen of his people would be there at dinner to eat with Obi-Wan and keep him distracted with hilarious stories from their exploits.
I’ll never not love Jango/the Mandalorians protecting kids (and part of that is comforting kids).

Is Anakin and Vader the same person?
I think I have talked about this before but I’ll reiterate the main points.
Of course they are the same person at different points in life. I don’t choose to follow Disney’s interpretation of anything about Star Wars. They hire writers and pay them to write their own fanfiction and interpretation and it’s far from George’s vision so I don’t see any reason to. Only 1-6 movies are canon to me with few exceptions such as 2003 Clone Wars and a few legends material but I’ll always put more emphasis on the movies.
Now from Revenge of the Sith movie we see Anakin become Vader (and by that I mean undergoing a surgery and being put into the suit). While the mask is being lowered we can see the fear in his eyes and his face is still recognizable. Fast forward 23 years and there’s no reason to believe he’s a different person. The only time he talks about his name is when Luke brings it up and he says “that name no longer has any meaning for me” not “I destroyed Anakin” or something similar to that. He is completely right because obviously it doesn’t hold any meaning for him - everyone who called him and knew him by that name (Shmi, Obi-Wan and Padmé) were all dead and his master called him Vader. And he had gotten used to the name in over two decades. Also, Palpatine probably preferred that he distance himself from his past hence referring to Luke as “the offspring of Anakin Skywalker.” Vader wasn’t a personality; it was just a new name he went by and since the mention of his real name brought back unpleasant memories he tried not to think of himself as the same person as a coping mechanism. This is why Vader tells Luke it’s too late for him to redeem himself - because he knows he commited some terrible deeds and hurt his loved ones and he can’t ever take that back. If he wasn’t Anakin, he wouldn’t feel that guilt or remorse for Anakin’s wife and mentor.
It’s the same as Padmé in TPM really - we see Padmé first as Queen Amidala who is a regal authoritative figure and then we see her true self when she’s in disguise.
Anakin winced, then quickly picked up another holograph, this one showing Padmé a couple of years later, wearing official robes and standing between two older and similarly robed Legislators. He looked back at the first holo, then to this one, noting that Padmé’s expression seemed much more severe here. “My first day as an Apprentice Legislator,” Padmé explained.
Then, as if she was reading his mind, she added, “See the difference?” Anakin studied the holograph a moment longer, then looked up and laughed, seeing Padmé wearing that same long and stern expression. She laughed as well, then squeezed his shoulder and went back to her packing.
Anakin put the holographs down side by side and looked at them for a long, long time. Two sides of the woman he loved.
This is from the AOTC novelization and this can be applied to Anakin as well. (More about similarities between Darth Vader and Queen Amidala in this post.) Just like Queen Amidala is really Padmé Naberrie, in the same way Darth Vader is really just Anakin Skywalker.
The reason why he has a different demeanor in OT is mostly due to his age and because he had years to adapt to his new persona. Vader in ROTS didn’t immediately become all stoic and impassive - he got very emotional on hearing Padmé’s death just like he would as Anakin. Vader isn’t some kind of demon possessing Anakin - Vader is Anakin after he has lost everything and he isn’t holding back as he did as a Jedi. It sounds very poetic to state both Anakin and Padmé died on the same day but Anakin truly didn’t though. Anakin lived on for years and died a redeemed man on the death star. The ROTS novelization supports this and it was approved by Lucas so it’s authentic to me.
And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker.
That it was all you. Is you.
Only you.
You did it.
You killed her.
You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself …
I do think it was Anakin who choked Padmé on Mustafar even though some people like to blame it on “Vader”. Anakin was unhinged on Mustafar but even in the beginning of ROTS, he was beginning to show some aggression. Though people complain the first part of ROTS is slow and too much happens in the latter half and he falls too suddenly, that’s not the case. This moment has been building up from the very first movie to the first half of ROTS. The fall isn’t just that one action of attacking Mace Windu, he was gradually falling to the dark side for years starting from his mother’s death and he only made the actual decision in the rumination scene. That’s when he finally sheds a tear and makes the conscious decision to join the dark side.
For the record, I think conflict has always been a part of Anakin Skywalker. The prequels portray him in a negative light, particularly in the last two films. Anakin in the movies is a very, very flawed individual and even meant to be unlikable at times. He struggles with his emotions, he struggles to communicate with others and he struggle to fit in the order. I wouldn’t say he was mentally stable either - he could be unpredictable and his actions depend on his mood. But the movies also show the good aspects of him, especially about people he cared about. He even starts off as a kid with a good heart. The conflict and his flaws cause him to fall to the dark side and his good qualities (like selflessness and loyalty when it comes to family) ultimately redeem him. 
So I don’t think “Anakin” was the good side of him and “Vader” was the dark side. Vader is Anakin after he has lost everything he cared about and since he is not a Jedi anymore he is no longer required to hold back on anything. Ambition and desire to rule the galaxy is often associated with “Vader” but I think people forget Anakin was just as ambitious and in ROTS being denied the rank of Master deeply upsets him and increases his resentment towards the Jedi. He admitted that he wanted more in ROTS even though he knows he shouldn’t. He also told Padmé in AOTC that he would prefer dictatorship over democracy so it’s not like his ideals changed either. Vader until he discovered he had a son had no interest in ruling the galaxy. Later on he essentially offered Luke the same choice he gave Padmé on Mustafar. From the conversation in AOTC, it seems he’s more dissatisfied with the system and being from a lawless and harsh world he sees dictatorship as the solution. While he doesn’t want to actively take part in it, he wants to enforce the system which is exactly what he does later on (and perhaps he preferred leaving the actual ruling bit to Padmé or Luke). I don’t see Vader as “evil” - I mean the only times he killed people were for failure and he did keep Admiral Piett alive since he proved to be competent. Vader in OT (when Luke isn’t concerned) is just doing his job and punishing inefficient people who aren’t letting him do his job. He only serves the emperor and does his bidding. After Luke rejects his offer, Vader still plans to seek him out but in ROTJ his resolve definitely grew weaker and it’s more like he’s imploring him to reconsider than being forceful. 
Anakin as we have seen in AOTC is very much capable of mass murder (and confessed that he felt they deserved it) so should he really be defined as the good side? You could even argue as Vader he killed people for legitimate reasons whereas Anakin killed defenseless people when he was blinded by rage. And even in ROTS he kills Dooku as revenge. I’m not saying Anakin is evil (that would be grossly oversimplying things); I am saying he was a complex character. The reason why he turned out the way he is has already been explored in the prequels but I also believe it’s a combination of nature and nurture. Anakin as a child has a good heart, wants to help others and free the slaves but in TPM script/novelization he lashes out at a Rodian who claims he won the race by cheating, meaning he didn’t handle accusation very well. It might be dismissed as a childish reaction but we see he struggled to control his temper in later years as well. A person has both good and bad qualities and that’s the case with Anakin here, though his negative traits were expressed more. But the prequels are all about exploring his downfall so it was necessary to highlight them. 
Anakin to me was never a “hero” who fell to the dark side due to circumstances; he was a complex character who made some hard choices. If the roles were reversed and Padmé was the Jedi with Anakin’s life at risk, I don’t think she would go that far to commit murder. Sure Palpatine is very manipulative but at the same time he understood that it was in Anakin’s nature to be manipulated very easily. You need to have some form of fear, insecurity and resentment in you for someone to utilize them. 
I blame TCW, Rebels and the fanboyish Marvel comics for dissociating Anakin from Vader. “Anakin Skywalker was weak, I destroyed him” again makes him very one-dimensional than accepting the fact that people can be morally complex. Not to mention the Marvel comics’ tendency to make him react violently and unnecessarily ruthless to prove he isn’t Anakin drastically reduces his character depth for me. It may also have to do with the fact that movie Anakin was not well-received so they are trying to distance him from Darth Vader, whom fanboys worship. Anakin’s story is incomplete without Vader - he made a choice to embrace the dark side and sacrifice his morality so like the tragic hero he is, he has to suffer and face the consequences for his actions. Similarly, Vader’s story is incomplete without Anakin - without Anakin he is a faceless man. Sure he’s mysterious but without his past we would not know what a complex character he was or sympathise with him.
If Vader wasn’t really Anakin, he wouldn’t have felt remorse for his actions or believe it was too late for him. If he wasn’t Anakin he wouldn’t refer to Luke as his son and if he was so desperate to erase any trace of Anakin, he would have definitely killed Luke as he was a reminder of his past. It was Vader who saved Luke in the end and while it is fine to figuratively say “Anakin was back”, taking it literally undermines his sacrifice. It takes a lot to come back from the dark side, face your demons and after being that way for decades, attempt to redeem yourself when you believe you’re far too gone. He redeemed himself as an old man after a long life full of sorrow and regrets, which also sounds much better than saying “he was evil no longer” and that “Anakin was back”. It makes everything seem black and white and the prequels were essentially all about exploring the gray area. Luke didn’t even know “Anakin” and really where was Anakin when “Vader” cut off his hand? Or fought him? Vader’s inner struggle was between accepting he was far too gone and going on as he did for years, and accepting change, letting it go and forgiving himself for his son’s sake - not a struggle between two personalities fighting to take control. If they were different personalities, Anakin wouldn’t have almost all of Vader’s qualities; he wouldn’t be morally conflicted both as Anakin and Vader. George said the reason why he later replaced his force ghost as a younger version was because he stopped being Anakin after he fell to the dark side and I have to say that’s the only time I disagree with George because Anakin in prequels still had dark tendencies so I do believe Vader never stopped being Anakin hence the original version with the old force ghost made more sense to me and the new version does rob some of the depth from his character. I’m sure George has his reasons - he might have wished to preserve the black and white simplicity of the OT but after the complexity of the prequels, it seems more appropriate for the saga to have a more imperfect, realistic ending. In retrospect, it seems to me they are very much the same person when you study his personality and consider his whole life, which was full of ups and downs.
