There's a sliver of sunlight that barely manages to trickle its way into the bedroom, and you're sure it would've woken you up in time, had your tiny four year old terror not taken the liberty of doing it herself.

"Daddy?" Maesi says, and through bleary eyes, you see her tiny head poking over the side of the bed.

Kenma, still asleep from who knows when he came to bed, merely whines and shrugs the blankets higher.

"Daddy?" She repeats. You close your eyes again as Kenma grumbles a soft "what?" from his perch against your neck, the vibrations of his words and five o'clock shadow tickling your cheek.

“Dad? Daddy, wake up! Dad, daddy, dad-“

“Your daughter is awake,” Kenma mumbles against you.

You yawn in response, “she’s your daughter when she’s up before the sun comes up.”

“Daddy! Dad! Daddy daddy daddy daddy-“

“I’m up, I’m up,” Kenma groans, rolling on his back with an exhausted grunt. Maesi giggles and straddles his tummy, her small hands planting on his chest. “It’s too early for you.”

“You promise breakfast for mumma,” she reminds him, and while your eyes fly open, Kenma is quick to shush her loudly. He sits up, brows furrowed in faux-anger.

“Shush!”

“Oh no,” you begin, chuckling. You slowly sit up and stretch, “tell me more, Miss Maesi.”

“Don’t tell her, Kozume Maesi.”

“You listen to your mother.”

“Listen to your father!”

Maesi merely giggles and dives into her dad's chest, and Kenma lets out a wheeze from the surprise force, "so silly, daddy!" She chirps, burrowing into the warm fabric of Kenma's night shirt. He cradles her close against his chest and cuddles her close, her giggles still pealing from his chest.

"My babies," you hum, reaching out to hook a lock of Kenma's hair behind his ear, your hand then moving to caress Maesi's hair. You yawn and slowly get out of bed, smiling at your little girl and nudging you head towards the door, "wanna go make daddy breakfast with me?"

"Yeah!" She cheers, scrambling from her father's sleepy grip to dash into your chest now, her tiny frame eagerly clinging to you. "Daddy's too sleepy for breakfast," she says.

You chuckle, "I know."

As soon as I began receiving asks about Junior regarding my body swap concept a few days ago, I knew I wanted to add him in a short sequence. 💙

I've considered many different scenes in which he would be included, but there was one in particular that kept coming back to my mind, and it was the exact moment he would agree to safely lead Luigi to "Bowser" (aka Mario). In this specific scenario, he would be mostly oblivious to what's going on, and would thus show palpable mistrust towards Luigi at first, who he doesn't really know and hasn't yet opened up to. But upon seeing how distraught the poor man is, Junior would feel for him and let his guard down. 🤲
