i was rechecking the sugar rush race storyboard and it turns out jeff diffenderfer updated the wreck it ralph page, now it has more concepts and a small explanation of how the actual track was designed and all that thingamajin. i couldn't not post a few of the things i thought were interesting!
vanellope with racing clothes instead of her hoodie, also king candy giving a death glare at poor ol vanny for the crime of being fast and cooler than him
in one of the alternate storyboards, king candy is using a game genie cartridge what
love it when small 8bit characeters. that's not a guy who destroyed two games and took over another letting a child be bullied and ostracized for fifteen years, that's a fuckimg crecher with no thoughts in head. literally 🟥👍

the rest of the sugar rush section is full of concepts and ideas for track design and how they worked with vanellope's glitch, i posted this one bc it seemed really cool. but of course i dont wanna repost his entire work here lol. go see it yourself its cool
i cant believe we missed sugar rush rainbow road 😭😭 like its understandable not all ideas can fit without dragging the story but i can and will cry over the fact that there where so many concepts for tracks and obstacles and yet disney is never gonna use them for anything (and by anything i mean a real and true and good sugar rush game)

No but seriously, did King Candy just forget Vanellope even existed?
When he first sees her at the roster race, he asks, “Sour Bill, who’s that last one?” Well, ga-doi, who else in your game wears a green hoodie, brown skirt, and green/white stockings? Hmmm….maybe that princess that you dummied out so you could take over her game? You’d think he’d remember what the bane of his existence is wearing, especially given that they don’t have other clothes to wear. I mean, yeah I know she’s got her hood up, but still, use some deductive reasoning, KC! Surely it hadn’t been THAT long since he’d seen her last; I mean he recognized Wreck-It Ralph immediately and he probably hadn’t seen HIM since the 80s so why didn’t he recognize Vanellope right away, even with her hood up? She’s the only other human-ish person in the game and the only one that one make sense to show up at a race, after all.
And when he says it, he sounds a LITTLE suspicious but his tone implies that he’s not quite sure either (otherwise he wouldn’t be asking). Then the way he says, “VANELLOPE?!”, it’s almost like he’s completely shocked that it’s her. I mean, it’s like he just forgot about her even existing. Did he get THAT comfy in his approximately 15 year reign that he just eventually quit worrying about her ever getting into a race and eventually outing him out when she crossed the finish line?
I might be overthinking this, but that whole scene just struck me as odd upon rewatching it.

I found some of the AU where Turbo is alive and hiding + doing stuff around. But I dose like to think in another way if he’s also alive but… they’re just found him immediately before Turbo could do anything else
It’s becoming an AU concept where Turbo respawn in Sugar rush but it's taken time a while after he got blasted by a Diet Cola Mountain. Calhoun and her soldier come to check that if there's any cybug left in Sugar rush and bada bing bada boom, they found Turbo by accident even before he could realize
( imagine like, a funny moments in game where enemy just spawn right In front of your face. Yah, that's what happens )
After that Turbo gets caught immediately and they transport him to Hero's duty which is a better place to contain a special cybug like him
Fun fact : Felix likes to come to visit him just to check on his old friend. ( he's a nice guy after all ) also meanwhile Felix calls Turbo by his name, Calhoun just calls him " Cybug "

In an AMA, Rich Moore described how Turbo took over Sugar Rush.
This is fucking awesome information And I Love It, but one thing I never really realized was the "before anyone played the game" part.
This means that Vanellope's life was stolen from her before she even got a chance to race.
She lived as a glitch, an outcast, anyone but a "racer." But she knows deep, deep down that she just has to be. It's written in her code... even though she's never lived it.
Regardless of her efforts to express this crucial aspect of her identity, she's been viciously denied acceptance through bullying, systematic exclusion, and even criminalization.
"You will never be a racer, because you're a glitch, and that's all you'll ever be"
Racing is usually just an occupation, but here, this is something that's literally written in her DNA. And that makes it different...
"You will never be a ___ because you're a ___"
"I finally have a real kart!"
But even then, she just CAN'T convince herself she wasn't born for this. There's nothing physically stopping her from racing, except for the system that she's forced to live in because she's physically unable to leave. It's the strict society that shuns and regulates "glitches" from "racing" for seemingly no reason.
Except there is a reason. It's about the higher up keeping a position of power, and keeping those below him in order because she would threaten the system.
so basically vanellope is awesome because she's a trans & disabled criminal of the state. (but i think everyone already got those vibes from her)

King Candy's Trans Coding (hear me out)
The fact Turbo could've coded any look for himself, and yet he went with King Candy, an identity that embraces aspects of femininity. Gender nonconformity probably wasn't the intention- his design has more of a focus on being royal. Aka. "I'm superior to everyone." But even those outfits are more feminine-leaning, with the tights and frilly-lace fabric y'know. Not to mention his mannerisms. Being a silly clown guy is Not in fact a part of the gender binary
Also Turbo never seemed uncomfortable with his new identity as King Candy, and not only did he embrace it- He was OBSESSED with it. He put his FACE on EVERYTHING.

But one thing for sure is that King Candy doesn't resemble anything like his old self. That might've been out of necessity to stay hidden, but the "hiding old self and presenting in a new way" theme is Still There. And that new presentation happens to incorporate aspects of gender expression his previous identity did Not have. (am i looking too deep into this? perhaps.)
OH BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.
I find it interesting King Candy was never appalled by his new Cybug form. Cuz when encountering Ralph it was never: LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME...
It was: LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME :)
it was EUPHORIC for him. Because he IS a monster. "BECAUSE OF YOU RALPH, I'M NOW THE MOST POWERUL VIRUS IN THE ARCADE!!" This form finally reflects his true self and what brings him the most joy. and that just so happens to mean being parasitic, powerful, and sadistic. which. well he should work on that
But what matters is he's in a drastically different body now and he LOVES IT. this is literally the HAPPIEST he's been ALL MOVIE.
Is That Not a form of Identity/Gender Euphoria.... ? ??
turbo is evil trans coded you can't convince me otherwise. also i wish i was him
