summary ☾ adam makes an ill-fated attempt at convincing you to stay home with him.

No matter how quietly you step nor how gently you pad around the apartment, it’s never enough to keep Adam from waking when you’re leaving for work in the mornings - and today is absolutely no exception.

A strong pair of arms wrap around your waist as you’re making your coffee, and pull you back against a broad chest.

“Good morning, baby.” You greet him through a smile, enjoying the warmth of his embrace as he leans in against you.

“No, it’s not.” His beard tickles your neck as he ducks his head down to kiss the side of your head, and his lips brush the shell of your ear as he speaks huskily against it.“You’re leaving already.”

“You know I have to.” You tell him pointedly as you twist around in his hold to face him. “It’s only my second week in the ED, I can’t have Will on my ass for being late already.”

He makes a gruff noise of dismissal, and rests his forehead against yours with a shake of his head. “Don’t worry ‘bout Will. Lemme talk to Jay, I’ll smooth that right on out.”

That makes you laugh, but you decide to entertain him as you loop your arms around his waist. “You’d have it out with Jay if it meant I’d get to stay in bed longer with you?”

He kisses his teeth at you, and with a sweet kiss to your forehead he pulls you in for one last big hug. “Darlin’, you don’t realise the lengths I’d go to just to keep you in my arms a second longer.”

thinking about that post of people assuming ao3 has an algorithm and also about how bonkers persistent the view is that ao3 is social media lite. like with startling regularity I get comments saying something along the lines of "it's probably weird to comment on a fic this old--" no it isn't!!!! this is an archive I am literally just assuming you searched for a selection of specific tags or sorted by kudos or looked back on my pseud or any other number of completely normal ways to use an archive site ?? kill the tiktok ghost in your brain and comment on old stuff it's NOT weird

EVERY SINGLE DAY there are MILLIONS of characters in their late 20s who get falsely accused of being father figures to teenagers when in reality the description of "weird older cousin" or "step-sibling that moved out before you were born" is 1000000x more apt

summary ☾ you and dante are stuck on a surveillance gig - but you manage to find ways to keep yourselves contented, even if it only means being in one another’s company.

As far as stakeouts go, this one could definitely be worse. A comfortable car with a working AC, parked up next to a decent convenience store - even if there’s absolutely no activity surrounding the target, leaving you to count the rain droplets on the windshield in place of some proper entertainment.

“I don’t like this.” Dante hums under his breath, shifting unnervingly next to you in the passenger’s seat. Tugging at the neck of his jacket, he shakes his head as he looks to you. “Not one bit.”

Knowing his antsy nature is only down to nerves, you’re quick to rebuke him with a grumbled remark as you toy with a loose thread on the sleeve of your sweater. “You don’t like anything.”

That earns you a scoff in reply. You smile, relaxing into the driver’s seat and in your peripheral you can see him begin to do the same.

“Not true.” He states after a moment, with a faint frown on his face. That frown begins to morph into a humored smile as he leans across the center console, and presses a soft kiss to your cheek. “I like you, don’t I?”

A groan of mock disgust leaves your lips and it makes him laugh as you swat him away with a small smile. “Like I could ever forget.”
