i love that maka's a super black-and-white thinker. she's very concerned with morals and how the world around her fits into her own personal viewpoints. in a person who views one parent so highly and the other as the lowest of the low, there's probably some forcing of those ideals when things dont fit into the binary of good vs evil she's built for herself. the thought processes that make her disregard anything out of character and deny it. spirit is a worthless cheater, always. mom is an inspiring strong woman, always. ignore any bitter feelings that she isnt with you, assume the worst in your father no matter what. save humans, kill kishins and witches. honestly its no wonder she was such a good student of shinigami's dwma. it makes sense that someone who was born in death city and had the exposure to moral issues maka did at a young age would grow up to have such intensely narrow views.

Thinkin’ about Brian in High Noon Over Camelot.
The fact that the first we hear about him is right in the first song of the album, “The Tower”. The fact that it’s Lost in the Cosmos being whistled during the narration. The fact that it not only foreshadows Brian’s appearance as Merlin but also Arthur’s eventual fate at the end of the album.
The fact that he’s introduced as the Hanged Man: a fixture of the town since before its’ founding, possibly dating back to the anarchy years of Fort Galfridian in the wake of societal collapse. The fact that he’s been abandoned and sentenced to die, to hang from the gallows in the searing heat in the noonday sun for centuries, a punishment that echoes his original sentence for witchcraft by being sent out alone into the cold black of space to freeze to death. The fact that it’s been centuries at all and yet he’s still hanging there, even as the platform decays and the rope frays and he could just as easily snap his own bonds and walk free. How he chooses to stay there, despite the fact that even the crime he committed has since been lost to history, that his joints begin to rust and even functioning becomes a chore and the Galfridians have even forgotten that he’s alive, that he’s a person, because that is what he views as morally right.
The fact that he’s been giving out prophecies all this time (and oh boy imagine my face when I found out this man is psychic. This man is psychic and none of the fictions ever decided to tell me????). How when he does give them out so few people actually believe him. How they spurn and shun his gifts even when he wants to help them the most. How the only person who does take heed is the one he has to send out to die.
The fact that he’s been there since before history broke down on the station and seen countless people come and go.
He’s seen Captain Mathea, the kind and optimistic leader doing his best to keep things afloat. A man thrown into a nightmarish scenario who, when confronted with the brutality of the choice he is to be forced to make, ultimately decides to remove himself from the board before he can make it. Who decides to stick to his morals and sacrifices himself, while at the same time preventing others from gaining the same power he had for fear of their being corrupted by it.
He’s seen Mordred the Peacemaker, the kid who only ever wanted what was best for everybody, who never wanted to hurt anyone. Mordred, who came to Camelot bringing revelation, though his message was repeatedly shunned. Whose quest to see it realized eventually led to the doom of the very people he tried to save.
Then there’s Arthur, a broken man who’s lost everything he’s ever stood for, sent out into the dark and cold in much the same way as Brian was, by a person he wanted so badly to save.
And at the end of it all, as the rust-covered world grows steadily hotter and hotter as the station is hurled inexorably into the sun, I can’t help but wonder what Brian’s thoughts were, at that final high noon. Did he think of freezing cold and his vision fading to black as the frost crept in? Did he think of his crew, somewhere in the cosmos out there without him? Did he think of history, repeating itself no matter how many times any of them tried to stop it? Did he think of a preacher man’s last sermon, of sinners and hellfire and brimstone?
Do you think he remembered the words to the song, as Avalon’s heat began to consume him alive, that even as he burns in the inferno for his past sins, he is not yet for hell?
...Do you think this is part of when he started wanting to find out?

I did some Souichi studies because I’m love he <3 (Patreon)
Bonus:
Here are the Studies compared to their Originals btw :3
So like, not a joke, not an exaggeration, I’m pretty sure this is my favourite panel in the entire Challengers/KoiBo continuity (and I decided to draw it first lol - it’s ‘cause I have such big feelings about it!!) It just hhhhhh, it so perfectly encapsulates everything he’s feeling in that moment; disbelief, betrayal, uncertainty, distrust, conflict - every moment of love he’s built up to that point has been thrown into immediate relief to what he’s been told and it’s all there, right on his face, it’s such a masterfully done expression ;; <3 I legit cry every time I reread, that whole scene is just so good, I could actually talk forever about his relationship with Morinaga in that one moment
The rest aren’t nearly so intense lol, mostly just grabbed from moments when I thought he was being especially cute <3 Concerned lad! His hair is so swoopy in Challengers hehe <3 <3 It’s actually even fluffier in his super early-on appearances, which are also excellent >:3c But I still like his KoiBo look best ♪ You can also see it’s a bit of a challenge to make his face as slim as he actually is, just thicken the lines inward until it almost looks right! Lol
I love this panel haha, everyone so silly chibi’d out. You can also really get a good look at how ridiculous his hair is, look at how the tuft that’s tucked behind his ear joins up with the tie! How does he tie it up like that, consistently?? How is he allowed in labs like that!! He’s ridiculous <3
Confused and blushy Souichi ft. Morinaga, I just kind of filled in the details he was covering lol. I love Souichi being dumb and having no self-awareness <3 He’s actually quite intelligent and emotionally aware a surprising majority of the time! But his blind spots leave big gaps haha
I love when he has his eyebrows in a relatively neutral position, he’s normally so grumpy! He looks so friendly even with just a neutral expression :D Plus his hair!! The way it’s communicated to be thin and feathery by being able to “see through it” to his lab coat, ah <3 Handsomest
Shy boy <3 I also really love the way his hands and wrists are shaped, such cool lines ah
I could’ve sworn he and Morinaga were like, almost the same size in Challengers... I guess Morinaga did have a second growth spurt, but still! It’s just an excuse to see him being cute!! Oh noooooo (lol)
Grump man <3 Beauty boy <3 His hair flows so beautifully!
It’s also fun to see a younger Souichi in a flashback, rather than in the Challengers style haha. He was a mess by himself, he’d hate to hear it but he really only does well with others haha. I also love how this scene is from the POV of one of his admirers, Momo is such a good girl and she’s so right <3
He’s being such a meanie to his sister in this scene lol, he’s the worst! <3 I was going to leave it at that, but adding his little frameless-glasses stem holes really made it look like Spamton’s googly eyes and I about lost it lol

Other thoughts about today's stream, if everyone is on the island for a reason, then why are the Hispanics there?
We can assume Luzu, Vegetta, Maxo and Spanish Quackity all come from Karmaland, would explain why they all knew each other already (although we can be a little mischievous and assume Luzu comes from Tortillaland 1, where he went missing after a spore parasite took over his body) (Or quackity coming from ME, where he had a team with both Spreen and Missa)
Now the tricky part comes with Spreen, Roier, Mariana and Missa.
They have all been in the same Minecraft series, Minecraft Extremo, where they had to practically kill each other. If they all come from there then it would explain the brotherly bond Missa and Spreen share (as well as Missa saying he learned stuff from Shadoune) and the duo Mariana and Roier have.
But we could go further and say Spreen and Mariana both come from Tortillaland 2 (before moving to ME), and after a series of unfortunate events, starting with the death of Juan to the duel to the death on ME, they decided to take a chance at those free vacations on the island.
It would explain even further why Mariana and Spreen know each other, they used to work together, and it would give both of them great opportunities at continuing previous lore (Spreen being the owner of a store, more of a mafia vibe, and Mariana being the protector and defender of animals)
And for Roier, even if my knowledge is limited, he was living in Chafaland a long time ago, where he also had his fair amount of wedding drama and obsession with someone....
Just many thoughts about cubes, timelines and lore, I could even add Dedsafio and others to this but man, so many series to consider for possible lore
