summary: . . you leave eddie to watch your newborn with some ‘help’ (they don’t really do anything) from jonathan and argyle.
a/n: everyone lives in Hawkins because i said so. as always, no beta so mistakes will be fixed later. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭

“Dude.”  Argyle leaned in for a closer look, staring deeply into the unimpressed, brown eyes peering up at him from her place in her bouncer, tiny fists curled near her head, fuzzy with dark curls. “You had a baby.” Eddie snickered while Jonathan shook his head in amusement. “Yeah, I know that, man.” “No—you don’t get it, man! Like, you had a baby. You’re a dad. She is composed of half of your DNA. The fruit of your looms!” Jonathan choked on the cold pizza he’d been scarfing down at that bit of Argyle’s rant. “She’s—Oh, she got your eyes, too.”  Argyle ended on a coo, a finger reaching down to run over her soft, chubby cheek. From the moment you and Eddie brought Penny home three weeks ago, you’d been attached to her. Utterly and completely obsessed with the perfect little being your body had spent months creating. While you’d been initially incredibly hesitant to meet her—coherently, at least, she’d been placed on your chest briefly when you’d been having a horrible out of body experience from the pain of having just pushed her out seconds before—it was hard for you to put her down now. You blamed that newborn baby smell. It was your weakness, if she was cradled against you, your head was angled down to sniff at her hair. You loved bonding with her in general, but your mother had made sure Eddie knew to not let you withdraw from society once Penny came, and then she’d told Eddie all about Postpartum Depression, effectively scaring the shit out of him. So that’s how you ended up having a girl’s day with Nancy, Eden and Robin. Sure, you’d started crying after showering your little baby in kisses and love and you’d had to be literally dragged out by the girls but Eddie knew you’d have a good time.
Just like he knew he could totally handle Penny on his own. Jonathan and Argyle had come along with the girls, but both were entirely too curious about Penny to leave. Not at all because Eddie had body blocked the door once they realized their ride was driving off. Alright, he was still scarred from day two out of the hospital.  Max and Lucas had come over to the trailer to visit Penny—Lucas loved holding her, you found it so cute—when you had gone to change Penny’s diaper and immediately began crying out for help. Eddie had never bolted so fast in his entire life with Max and Lucas on his heels, and the sight that greeted them was horrifying in a new parent sort of way. Penny had shit so violently once you’d undone her diaper that it was splattered on the wall, she was peeing all over your hands, and she’d thrown up, the milky looking substance also leaking out of her little nostrils. She herself didn’t look at all phased by what she’d just done. So, yeah. Maybe he needed a little back up for now. “Who’s got beautiful, angel eyes? Who’s got beautiful angel eyes? You do! You do!” Eddie watched Argyle gently tap her little nose, and his heart warmed when he could see his baby smiling around her pacifier. He knew it was probably just gas since she was starting to learn how to use her face, but he liked to imagine she knew just how much everyone loved her; that she’d never have to feel like he did growing up, unloved and alone until Uncle Wayne had stepped in when his father had been arrested and he had no one else. His kid had family. And a damn good one at that. “You can pick her up, if you want.” “Whoa.” Jonathan warned. “Hey now.” Argyle took a physical step back from the newborn, eyeing her skeptically. “And risk dropping her—man, that’s not cool.”
“You won’t drop her, so long as you hold onto her. Kind of common knowledge, but simply don’t let go.” Eddie rolled his eyes, stretching forward from the couch to slip his finger into her tiny little hand. She gripped onto it immediately, and he leaned closer to give it a kiss, inhaling the scent of her skin. He couldn’t blame you for sniffing her all the time—she did smell ridiculously good.
“Fine, man. Then you get her out of that chair thingy, ‘cause I don’t wanna hurt her or something. I’m used to Eden’s siblings, they’re like uh a little older by like a lot and stupid invincible. One of her brothers came down the driveway on his bike just when I pulled up and I hit him with my car. Little dude just got right back up, kicked me and left!”  Eddie’s eyes were wide as saucers as he carefully pulled Penny out of her bouncer—the three of them collectively awing in adoration when her lower half scrunched up on instinct as she brought her hands to the sides of her head— and stood up in front of Jonathan. “You get first dibs since you don’t currently have a likely hood of hitting my daughter with a car at some point in her life.”  Jonathan immediately looked like he wanted to runaway, but ended up hesitantly accepting Penny into the crook of his arms as Eddie handed her over. It had been a while since he last held a baby, the last having been Will and he’d been a kid then, too.
He took to it naturally, though, his body relaxing as he held up her hand, thumb rubbing gently over her soft palm. Her squishy little fingers wrapped over his thumb as she stared up at him, most likely curious about a face she’d seen a couple of times before, but not so often this close. Or maybe she wasn’t thinking at all.
“She’s so. . . small.” That wasn’t what he meant, he’d meant she looked so innocent, so fragile to the world around her. She wasn’t even his kid, but the longer he held her, the more sure he became of the fact that he’d kick ass to keep her safe, something he didn’t do very often, but very effectively. “I’m an uncle.” Eddie smirked, filled with pride as his daughter won another skeptic over. Jonathan ran a hand over her head, mindful of her soft spot, in awe of how soft her hair was. Damn, she really was cute. And she did have Eddie’s eyes.  “She’s a pretty baby.” He commented, moving his thumb around in her hold. “Not gonna lie, I thought she’d you know, be a little ugly when she came out, what with having been squished through a hole, but no. She was even a pretty newborn.” Eddie admitted, he hadn’t seen a whole lot of newborn babies before Penny, but he knew they looked like little aliens fresh out the womb. “You and baby mama must have been some pretty cute looking babies, then. Any kids Eden and I have are screwed, man. I was hairy as hell and I’ve seen her baby pictures, let’s just say they’re gonna get double takes.” Argyle ranted, but he too was focused on Penny and Jonathan, looking a little envious. Once Jonathan got his fair share, he shifted her around in his hold, making sure to support her head as he transferred her into Argyle’s ready and waiting arms. He seemed to change his tune after witnessing Jonathan hold her and successfully not throw her across the room like a football.
Unlike Jonathan who hadn’t wanted to move her around too much in his grasp, Argyle sat her up right, making sure to support her head at Eddie’s prompting. Penny looked startled as her body tried to slump forward, stopped by Argyle’s hold on her. The pacifier stopped moving, and Eddie tensed, waiting for the cry but it never came. Instead, the pacifier began to move again and she let out a soft grunt, but she didn’t seem to mind all that much.
He relaxed, sinking into the couch on Jonathan’s other side. Argyle noticed her drooping lids and deciding to be brave, placed her back into her bouncer as gently as he’d seen Eddie handle her.
Eddie couldn’t help but grin down at her, taken with the way they’d drop completely only to shoot back up. He was reminded of all the late night conversations the two of you had, and how you always fought sleep off, keen on talking to him instead of sleeping. Your eyelids would get all droopy, you’d close your eyes, and then catch yourself, snapping up and briefly awake before doing it all over again.  Eddie wondered how many more memories of you looking at Penny would trigger for him. He couldn’t wait to figure it out.  As if she knew he was thinking about her, Penny’s gaze wandered to him and he locked eyes with a pair identical to his own. Then she forced her pacifier out of her mouth and began to wail something fierce.  They all jumped up immediately, eyes wide at the sudden drop in her mood. “What did I do? Was it something I said?” Argyle asked, blaming himself as he began to panic. Jonathan was running his hands through his hair, distressed.  “No, you didn’t do anything,” Eddie reassured him as he picked Penny back up and walked to the small kitchen, grabbing a bottle from a recent feeding attempt. “You hungry, little bitty pretty one?” He held the bottle to her lips but that only seemed to make her angrier as she struggled against it, head moving away from the nipple. Her face was all squished up and took on a darker tint as her wails died down to whimpers. Eddie knew what that meant.  He was quick to place the bottle back down, but the damage was done. Penny was silent for the briefest of moments before she began shrieking. Water started to pull in the inner corners of her eyes—a new development, up until two days ago, all she could do was cry but her body hadn’t produced tears yet—and she let her little lungs ring loud in the trailer. Eddie knew his neighbors were probably cursing up a storm but they could kick buckets for all he cared. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. That’s not what you wanted, was it? My poor girl. Daddy’s gonna make it right.” Eddie soothed, cradling her to his chest with one hand holding the back of her head.  It seemed to do some good, hearing his voice had stopped the piercing shrieks, but she was still crying and very loudly.  He pulled her little baby bottoms back to check her diaper, but it was still clean so she couldn’t be upset about that. Eddie sighed, raising her a little higher on his chest so he could nuzzle her, pressing kisses into her sweet smelling hair.
Then it hit him. Penny was tired. That was it. She was just tired but unable to fully slip into blissful slumber on her own and she was upset about it. Eddie wanted to beat his head against the fridge for having overlooked something so obvious. He reached down to turn the knob of the radio, bringing it to life before he began searching for a station. Once he’d stumbled upon one crooning out oldies, he swayed, patting her bottom to further soothe her.
Penny’s cries died down almost immediately, turning into soft grunts instead as her lids began to droop again. It was after Eddie started singing along, his voice low and soft, that she was finally able to fall asleep, snuggled up to her daddy with a fist full of his hair that was most definitely going to be super fun getting out of her grip without waking her. Eddie turned to find Jonathan and Argyle watching them. Jonathan had a ghost of a smile on his face while Argyle stared at him in wonder. “Dude. You’re a dad. You just did a dad thing!” Jonathan grinned. “I agree. Looks like I’m the only freak in town now, you’re Eddie ‘The Dad’ Munson, now.” “Hell yeah, I’ll take it.” Eddie didn’t bother trying to hide his smile, he was cheesing’ it up.  You’d called him something similar a couple of times. Teased him about being Eddie ‘The DILF’ Munson, which was really unfair given you hadn’t been cleared by your doctor to have sex yet, so he couldn’t make that a reality.  “It’s crazy how this time last year, we were freshly graduated, you were eloping against every single adults’ opinion and now you have a baby. It’s mind boggling. But like, at the same time it’s not. . .I don’t know, help me out here.” Argyle slapped the back of his hand against Jonathan’s shoulder a few times.
“Being a dad suits you. You’re good at it. You’re a good dad and a good family man.” Jonathan supplied, meaning every word. He’d know, he had a shitty dad like Eddie did.
That one simple statement hit Eddie hard, and he held Penny just a little tighter to his chest. “Gotta give her everything I didn’t have.” — You nearly broke the door down when you’d gotten back to the trailer. Despite your hesitance to leave Penny, you’d actually enjoyed the time with your friends. Sure, you spent every single second you weren’t talking thinking about your little family, but you still had fun.  The car ride back was spent wondering how much of a mess the place would be. Robin was expecting there to be a small kitchen fire, Eden was expecting one of the boys to be crying, Nancy was just curious to see how Jonathan had lasted in the presence of a baby. For future after college and established careers purposes, of course. You had faith in Eddie, had seen how quickly he had and still was adapting to being a dad. The others you couldn’t ball park so your money was on Argyle being the crybaby to which Eden quickly agreed.
But you hadn’t come home to any of that. The boys were all sat on the couch, fawning over your baby who had woken up in much better mood. “My baby!” You made grabby hands as they got up to greet you, and Eddie let you scoop her up from his arms in exchange for a kiss. You could hear Robin gagging when she realized she was third wheeling three different couples, so you assumed Nancy and Eden were also receiving ‘welcome back’ smooches.  You leaned down to violently inhale Penny’s new baby smell, pulling back with a look of satisfaction on your face. “That’s the good stuff. How’d it go?” Eddie laughed as he pressed a kiss to your forehead and trailed a finger through Penny’s curls. “Oh, you know. Nothing I couldn’t handle.”

Everything has been fucked lately. Your job sucks, school isn't going great, your social life is almost nonexistent, your family is a mess and you just want some peace and calm. You've been home constantly, but you just can't stand it anymore, which is exactly why you went outside for some fresh air. And as if the universe was giving you the middle finger as well, it started raining. But you just couldn't be bothered anymore. Life sucks and your mental health is declining. So you don't even flinch at the rain hitting your lowered head. You don't care that your clothes are soaked at this point. You just sit there and take it. You've been sitting here for what feels like hours. There has been multiple nosy on lookers that passed by mumbling. Some of them showed concern, but some of them were threw disgusted looks at you and assumed you're some kind of junkie that's loitering around in their peaceful park. You couldn't care less, nobody was actually brave enough to approach you anyway, so you let them talk.
It's getting cold, but you can't bring yourself to move. You're soaked and it's getting dark, but you feel like you have nowhere to go. You're starting to feel numb, your hands and feet are cold and you almost can't feel them anymore. This is actually quite nice, you're neither sad nor mad, you feel empty, but it's not uncomfortable like it usually is. You feel calm, you're not worried. You think that freezing to d*ath might actually be a good way to go. It would be like falling asleep without having to ever wake up again. For the first time in weeks you felt yourself smile. You've made up your mind, nobody will miss you anyway so why bother. But as you were about to lie down, you heard a familiar voice screaming your name.
"What the hell-", you thought to yourself as you sat back up and looked around. You didn't have to wait long before seeing a familiar figure run towards you.
"Y/N!!! Where are-? Oh my god there you are. I looked everywhere for you. What are you doing?", he reached out to grab your shoulders, only for you to flinch away.
"Yuji, what are you doing here?"
"Well, you weren't picking up my calls and I got worried." When you didn't give him an answer, he continued, "Are you alright? Whoa you're soaked and my god you're ice cold c'mon let's get you home. I don't want you to get sick.", he grabbed your hand, trying to get you off that bench. But you didn't budge.
"Y/N? What's wrong c'mon let's go-"
"No, I'm fine, really. Just leave me be."
"What are you even saying? How could I? You are in no condition to be left alone. It's freezing and you're soaked c'mon let's go home-"
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE GODDAMN IT!", you screamed and felt tears leave your eyes. Shit. When you reached up to wipe away at your eyes, Yuji stopped you and wiped your tears with his sleeve instead.
"Y/N I don't know what's going on, but please let me help.", he knelt down, squeezing your trembling hands and giving you a warm smile.
"Why do you care so much?", that came out way too wobbly for your liking.
"Why do I care? Y/N, you're my best friend of course I care. How could I not? Look at you."
You were at a loss of words, so he continued. "Is it okay if I touch you more?" Nod. As soon as you gave him the okay he pulled you into a tight hug. It took you a bit to relax, but you eventually gave in and let your emotions run wild. You were shaking, crying loudly in his embrace. All the built-up tension of the past weeks came flooding out, but he was there to catch you. He held you close as you let go. He didn't say a word until you calmed down a bit.
He pulled away to take a look at your puffy face. "Let's go over to mine, hm? What do you say?"
"Fuck it.", you thought as you nodded and got up.
"Want me to carry you?"
"No, that's embarassing. I can walk alright.", you huffed.
"Don't worry, it's late. Nobody will see."
"Okay."
After he wrapped you up in his jacket, you got on his back and let him carry you to his apartment. He's so warm and smells really good. You subconsciously nuzzled your face closer to him. Falling asleep like this would be way nicer than alone. You thought of that as you closed your eyes and hugged him tighter.
Luckily, he only lived a couple blocks away from the park. He was gentle when he set you down as soon as you arrived.
"Thanks."
"Don't mention it.", there it was again, his sweet smile. "You should go take a bath before you get sick. I'll lend you some of my clothes." Nod.
------
You felt like a new human being after the warm bath. His clothes were also warm and smelled like him. It was oddly comforting. Has he always smelled this good? Your thoughts were interrupted by a soft voice.
"Oh wow, you look better already.", he grinned.
"Yeah", you cracked a smile back at him, "I do feel a lot better. Thanks a lot."
"Of course! Now, what do you want to eat, you must be starving? How long were you out there anyway?"
"All day actually...", you confessed.
His shocked expression made you giggle as he pushed you into his kitchen.
After a good meal he said you could go sleep in his bed. He'd sleep on the couch tonight. But you stopped him. "I don't want to be alone. Can you sleep with me tonight."
"Sure, I thought you needed some space and didn't want to make you uncomfortable."
"Can we cuddle too?"
"We can do whatever you need."
That's how you found yourself back in his arms for the nth time today. The atmosphere was calm, as you were exchanging occasional remarks while watching something. You don't know what overcame you, but you just felt so safe and taken care of that you leaned in for a kiss. However, you quickly pulled away when you felt him stiffen up and not kiss you back.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. God, I'm so stupid. You probably hated that. Shit, please don't hate me-"
"No, please calm down, it's alright. It's not that I don't like this. It's just..."
"Just what?"
"You're in a very fragile state right now. I don't want you to do something you might regret."
"But I'm sure, I really want this-"
"Sleep it over. Just one night and if you still feel like it tomorrow I'm down. I'm here for you. We can cuddle all you want, though. I just don't want to take advantage of you."
You shot him your biggest pity pout and when that didn't work you gave in. "Alright, alright, I guessss.", you huffed and fell into his embrace. Both of you didn't talk much after that, there was a bit of tension, but you didn't act on it. When you finally drifted off to sleep it was enveloped in his warmth and smell.
You haven't slept this well in a long time. And you definitely haven't been woken up this nicely in a long time, either.
After such a good night's sleep you didn't expect to wake up to your best friend between your thighs, lapping away at your pussy.
"Hi, good morning", he rasped, morning voice heavy. "You just looked so cute wiggling around in my arms and when I checked you were already so wet down there. Sorry, I couldn't resist.", he said while softly kissing up your thigh.
"It's alright, let me wake up first, though ah-", you couldn't finish your sentence, because your head snapped back with a moan, as he dove back between your legs.
"Sorry, but I need this just as bad as you do. You taste so good. God, I've been missing out on this this whole time? Just lay back and let me take care of you."
You couldn't say no. Not that you were able to say anything at all with his skillful tongue and fingers working your cunt open. He made you a whimpering and sensitive mess in a matter of a few seconds.
"Shit, how are you so good?", you let out a drawn-out moan, but didn't get an answer from him. His actions spoke instead of him, as he had you cumming on his tongue soon after. Once he licked you clean he slotted his body between your legs and kissed you nice and deep.
"Mmh", you moaned against his lips, tasting yourself on his tongue.
"Tastes good, right?", he grinned.
"Shut up", you playfully hit his chest, grinnig right back at him.
"Alright, my turn.", you smiled, trying to get him to lie down only to be pushed back, as he got on top of you again.
"Nope."
"Hey! Not fair, I wanna taste you, too.", you pouted at him.
"Maybe next time. Today's all about you, I don't want you to lift a single finger. As I said, lay back and let me take care of you."
That was an offer you definitely couldn't refuse. So you gave him a nod and waited for his next move. His next move was a very welcome one, as he finally rid him himself of his shirt. You always knew he was well built from years in the gym and other sports. But seeing him like that up close made you gush. His front was mouth watering, and his arms were to die for. He was huge. You would've rubbed your legs together to ease your pain if he wasn't keeping your legs open with his body between them. You didn't even notice you were staring until he spoke up.
"You're practically drooling."
"Fuck, sorry.", you shrieked looking away.
"Don't sweat it. Oogle me all you want, I dig it.", he smiled, pulling your face back in his direction.
"Can I touch you?"
"What kind of question is that? Go for it!"
His skin's so soft, but the ripples of his abs and chest are brick hard. He let you explore his body before grabbing your hand and giving it a gentle kiss.
"My turn.", he whispered against your fingers before pulling your shirt up and exposing your tits. Your nipples were already hard from all of the stimulation earlier.
"Fuck, they're so pretty.", he whispered, grabbing one in each hand and giving them a hard squeeze.
"Shit.", you moaned, back arching off the bed and pussy rubbing against his hard cock. To make matters worse, he leaned down, licking a thick stripe up your neck and pinching your aching nipples between his fingers.
"Off. Now.", he demanded, already helping you pull the shirt over your head. You were finally fully exposed and he ate it right up. He leaned back down, taking one of your nipples in his mouth and massaging your other breast. He made sure to pay equal attention to both. It felt really good, but you were getting impatient, already grinding against his hard crotch.
"Yuuji~~", you moaned at a particularly hard suck. "Don't tease. Pleasee, I need you.", you whined.
"Shit, sorry I got distracted. Wait here, I'm gonna go get the condoms."
Before he could leave you, you stopped him.
"No, wait, please don't. I want to feel you.", you said, already digging your nails in his arms at the mere thought of doing it raw.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive.", you smiled reassuringly.
"Fuck, alright. Got it.", he swore and rid himself of his boxers.
Once again you were staring. He was bigger than you thought. You definitely couldn't wait any longer. You needed him inside of you immediately.
He didn't make you wait long before he started to slowly bottom out. Your moans grew embarassingly louder with each inch that filled you up.
"Shit, you're so tight. Please loosen up, you're gonna kill me."
"Sorry, it just feels so good.", you mewled back arching and pressing your soft tits against his hard chest. "Kiss me, please~~" He immediately obliged, crashing his mouth against yours. It was so raw and messy when your tongues kept mashing together, but it just felt so right.
"I'm gonna start moving now. I'm gonna fuck you so good."
You nodded and pleaded. Your wish was his command, so he finally picked up his pace. And god, was he good with his hips. With each thrust and shift of your legs, he kept hitting you deeper and deeper until you practically saw stars. It's so cliché, but you felt like you were in heaven.
Your nails kept grazing his broad back and shoulders, but you didn't want to hurt him, so you held back. As if he had read your mind, he leaned down and whispered against your ear.
"Do it. Mark me up, it doesn't hurt. Please don't hold back."
So you didn't hold back anymore. You let your emotions run wild, exploring his body with your hands. Shyness long forgotten, as you left long red streaks all over his back, occasionally pulling him down for a kiss.
The world stood still. You never noticed before, but he has always been there for you. He was the only person that you ever felt loved by. How had you never noticed. Even if you two never said it out loud before, you loved each other. It had to be love. You felt overwhealmed as his fingers slipped between your bodies and started rubbing thick circles in your sensitive clit. Your breath hitched as the words you kept secret for far too long came tumbling out.
"I love you, Yuji. I love you so much, thank you for always taking care of me. I only have you in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Please never leave me, I need you."
If he was taken aback by your words, he didn't show it. He just pressed his lips against yours and kept rubbing and moving his hips until you came undone. And as you were moaning and arching your back, he finally answered.
"I love you, too. So, so much. I always have. I promise I will never leave. No matter what happens, I got you. Forever.", that's when the dams broke down and tears were spilling from your eyes. You just hugged him close and thanked him.
Not long after, he was reaching his limit as well. So he hoisted your legs over his shoulders and pounded away until he filled you up to the brim. All the while he was kissing your tears away and saying how good you were for him and how well you did.
When his hips finally came to a halt, he gently put your legs down and kissed you again. He was gentle when he pulled out and you winced as you felt his cum drip out of you and onto his sheets.
Immediately after, he pulled you close, hugging you like he was about to lose you and you were able to calm down a bit. But the bad thoughts came back as you whispered against his skin.
"Today was so stressful and you must've been worried sick. What if I have another breakdown. I don't want to be a burden. I don't want to stress you out. I don't want to break your heart if anything happens to me."
"Y/N, look at me.", he begged, hands on your cheeks.
You finally looked back up at him, tears stinging your eyes.
"You're not a burden.", he whispered, giving your forehead a gentle kiss. "I will protect you forever. For as long as I live, I will always be here to catch you. No matter what happens. You're not alone anymore. You don't have to endure everything silently and on your own. I promise, things will get better. I will be here each step of the way. I love you so much, so please don't leave me."
You wanted to believe him, you wanted to get better. Maybe you finally could with his help. It's a big gamble, but you're gonna bet all of your cards on this relationship. After a long pause, you gave him a silent nod and burried your face in his chest, all while he was gently patting and kissing your head.
Life and everyone else might be shit, but at least you got him now. He was worth living for.

Soft Part 1 of 2
I was meant to be working on Grief (A Friend Indeed) this weekend because I didn't want to leave you hanging at the end of six (which I have written), but my muse wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote this one. It's a little more than 3k, so I'm splitting it up. Which will give me more time to write part 7.
It's called soft because all the way through writing it, that's what the feel was. It was all fluff. And I really couldn't think of a better title.
*
Eddie walked into the apartment Steve shared with Robin and found Steve crying on the sofa.
"Stevie?" he asked, gently creeping up on the sofa as not to startle him.
"Hey, Eds," Steve greeted mournfully.
"What happened, babe?" Eddie asked, easing on the sofa next to him.
"Anna broke up with me..." he muttered.
Eddie blinked. "But wasn't she the one that brought up marriage, like just last week?"
Steve nodded. "Apparently it was a test or some such shit."
"What did you say?" he asked.
"I told her that marriage is great when you find the right person, but that it wasn't for everyone," Steve explained. "I said it was great feeling to stand up in front of your friends and family and declare your love for each other."
"Sounds great to me," Eddie said. "What was her damage?"
Steve sighed. "Apparently the answer to the question 'should people get married' is never ever in a million years and I'm a misogynist for even thinking about it."
"Ouch."
"Stupid me for thinking otherwise," Steve groused. "Hell I even went and put a down payment on a ring. A very nonrefundable down payment."
Eddie closed his eyes and opened them slowly. "Shit, sweetheart. She should reimburse you for that, leading you on like she did."
Steve shook his head, pulling out a small box. "I bought this instead." He handed it to Eddie.
Eddie opened the box and inside was a beautiful white gold chain with a large clasp.
"That's pretty, Stevie," he murmured. "Birdie will love it."
Steve shook his head again. "It's for you. It's for your guitar pick." He jutted his chin at Eddie's necklace.
"What?"
"Can I show you?" Steve asked gently, holding out his hand.
Eddie nodded and took the necklace off and placed it in his waiting palm.
Steve set it on his thigh as he unscrewed one end of the clasp. He slid the pick off the bubble chain Eddie kept it on and onto the silver chain. He screwed the clasp back on and then brought the two ends back together. They connected without any help from Steve.
"Whoa!" Eddie said, enthralled.
"It's magnetic," he explained. "That way when you do shows you can do the whole rip it off your neck without having to buy new chains all the time."
He handed it back to Eddie, who put it on. He tugged on it normally but it didn't come off. He tugged harder and it came off in his hand. The chain slipped around his palm and reconnected. He wrapped it around his wrist and the pick fell perfectly in his hand so he could strum.
He played a little air guitar and then put back around his neck.
Steve ran his fingers through his hair. "I heard that picks really don't last long, and that that one is really special, so I had these made too."
He pulled the cushion out of the jewelry box to reveal about a dozen picks with a hole drilled into the top so Eddie could string them on the necklace.
Eddie picked one up and saw that it had initials on it. "JL." He picked up another one. "DH." A third. "LS."
"Steve..." he whispered.
"They each have an initial for someone you love," Steve murmured. "Your uncle. Your band. The kids."
"Not you?" Eddie asked, tilting his head around so he could get a better look at Steve face.
Steve blushed a dark red. He tugged on the necklace and it came off in his hand. "My initials are here." He pointed to the two clasps. And sure enough there were engraved into the silver was a simple S and H.
Eddie's heart stuttered in his chest. "Thank you." His lip quivered a bit before he spoke again. "You didn't have to do this, you know."
Steve shook his head. "I had to get something with down payment. This wasn't that much. I promise. I liked getting it for you."
Eddie just nodded.
*
Eddie showed up for band practice, practically vibrating out of his skin.
Jeff leaned back. “Whoa, man. Who’s put caffeine into your veins?”
“Lookie what Stevie got me!” he said and yanked off the chain, it immediately demonstrated the effect for him.
“Holy shit!” Gareth said bounding up to him. “That’s so freaking cool.”
Eddie grinned. “He also got me these.” And he poured the picks into Gareth’s hand.
Gareth picked one up, after another reading off the initials. “JH, ES, DH... GH?”
He looked up at Eddie in awe. He held up the GH. “Is that me?”
Eddie nodded, pursing his lips. “There’s a JL and a BM in there too.”
“And the rest all the kids right?” Brian asked coming up behind Gareth.
“And Wayne and Robin,” Eddie confirmed.
Jeff wandered over, too. “No pick for Stevie?” he asked, pushing them around in Gareth’s hand.
Eddie quietly showed them the initials on the necklace itself.
“Holy fuck!” Brian said, wide-eyed. “That’s a declaration of love if I ever saw one, man.”
Jeff nodded. “Yeah, Ed. That’s some straight up romantic shit.”
“Come on, guys,” Eddie moaned. “It’s not like that. He put a down payment on a ring for a relationship that went bust and needed to spend it anyway.”
All three of his bandmates just stared at him in disbelief.
He squirmed a little under their gaze. “I bet Birdie got something even better than this.” He held up the necklace. “It’s only silver, it couldn’t have cost that much anyway.”
“Dude,” Brian said. “Your rings are silver. That is something else.”
Eddie frowned and compared the two pieces of jewelry side by side.
“Oh.”
He chewed on his lip. “I think I know what metal this is.”
Gareth rubbed his chin. “It looks like my mom’s wedding ring. And that’s...”
“White gold,” Eddie and Gareth said together.
Jeff’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head. “You mean to tell me that Steve got you a necklace made of white gold and you still don’t think it’s a declaration of his undying love you?”
“Guys...” he whined. “It’s only the necklace. It can’t have cost that much, okay?”
Jeff ran his tongue over his lips, a sly look on his face.
“What?” Eddie barked.
“I’ll tell you what...” Jeff said shrewdly. “If he bought something for Buckley, too, we’ll learn all fucking ten minutes of Master of Puppets.”
Eddie grinned. But Brian and Gareth didn’t even have the decency to look worried.
“And if he hasn’t...” Jeff continued. “You’ll play Free Bird at the next gig at the Hideout.”
Eddie groaned. Both songs were long, but he thought Free Bird was boring. Not like Master of Puppets, that song had depths.
But then again... he was sure that Robin had something even nicer from Steve. Like diamond stud earrings or some shit.
“You’re on.”
Jeff smiled as they shook on it and it made Eddie doubt a bit.
Nah.
He had this on lock.
*
Eddie came bounding up to the counter at Steve and Robin’s job at the bookstore. Just another in their long line of jobs they had together.
“Where is your soulmate?” he asked the very disgruntled Robin.
She rolled her eyes. “He’s at home. With another migraine.”
Eddie winced. “That’s the third one this week.”
Robin nodded. “He’s got an appointment with a neurologist next week, but I’m stuck here, while he’s at home being miserable.”
Eddie pouted. “Poor Birdie. I can check up on him on my way home?”
“Thanks,” she said, a little bit of tension leaving her body.
“Speaking of your soulmate,” he said. “Did he show you what he got me?”
Robin shook her head. “I didn’t even realize he had gotten you anything.”
Eddie frowned, but took off his necklace and handed it to her.
She smiled at the initials. “That dingus. That’s really sweet of him.”
He told her the whole story. “So what did he get you?” he asked when he finished.
Robin furrowed her brow. “Nothing.”
Eddie reared back his head. “That’s not possible. He loves you the most in all the world. He would have gotten you something.”
She gently took his hand, the necklace tangling around their fingers. “Eddie, he loves you, too. Just as much, just differently.”
He reached out with his free hand and fingered the braided chain. “Jeff... the whole band really thought it was a declaration of true love.”
“They sound pretty smart to me.”
Eddie pursed his lips. He nodded. “I’ve got to go. Don’t worry, I’ll still check up on him.”
He untangled their hands and put the necklace back on.
Robin watched him go with a fond smile on her face. They were both stupid. But they were getting there.
*
Eddie had made sure Steve had taken his medicine and was lying down in his room with an ice pack on his head.
He was snooping. He was usually against that. Like with every fiber of his being, but this was extenuating circumstances. He couldn’t ask Steve as it was for a surprise for him. Couldn’t ask Robin, he loved her but she would blurt out the surprise. Just randomly. Without prompting.
So he was snooping around looking for a specific piece of paper he knew Robin kept in one of three places. Her nightstand. Wasn’t there. Next to the phone. Again, not there. So he was rifling through their junk drawer in a last ditch effort to find what he was looking for.
EUREKA! He found it.
He copied the information and then put the paper back. He carefully put the paper in his wallet.
He stayed nearby until Robin came home, but Steve slept straight through the changing of the guard.

A New Kind of Fear
Pairing: David 'Deacon' Kay x fem!wife!reader
Summary: When 20 David completes a raid with narcotics, they stumble upon a stalker. The unknown suspect has been watching you, and now Deacon must find him while dealing with the fear you've grown used to.
Warnings: canon typical action/danger, reader has a stalker but doesn't know, angst, fluff
Word Count: 2.1k+ words
A/N: This premise is kind of similar to the one in Worried for You but hopefully this is okay! I really liked the stalker idea and approaching the story with a focus on Deacon and his emotions!
Requested Here!

Everyone told you that marrying a SWAT officer would not be easy. Deacon himself told you the same thing. But he has watched you take every bump, bruise, and bullet in stride. Of course, you worry about him, but you support him, which makes you perfect for him. He lives a dangerous life at work, so when he comes home to you, he gets a chance to relax, breathe, and be with someone who loves him no matter how many scars he has or gives. When things get tough in the field, Deacon imagines you safe at home, ready to pull him into your arms and hold him together.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Narcotics will be ready to come in after we clear the house,” Hondo explains. “The house has two entrances, one front and one back, so we’ll have two breach teams. Front entry has a security gate, so we’ll pull it off with Black Betty then make entry at the same time. Get the house empty so narc can do their thing. Any questions?”
“When do we leave?” Luca jokes.
The breach goes well, and there’s only one suspect in the house. Street disarms the suspect and gets him outside as the entry teams finish clearing the house.
“Left side clear,” Tan calls.
“Kitchen clear,” Luca adds.
Hondo prepares to open the last door, examining the room quickly before lowering his gun. “Deacon,” he says, far too intense for anyone’s liking.
Deacon can tell by his stiff posture and the tone of his voice that something is wrong. He’s expecting drug mules or a false wall, but those would have been far better.
With wide eyes, Deacon steps into the room with Hondo close behind him.
“Narcotics is coming in,” Luca says as he approaches the door. “Whoa.”
The room is covered in pictures. All different places, different times, different days, different angles, some close, some far, but each features the same subject. You, Deacon Kay’s wife. Thousands of pictures of you are taped to the walls of the small bedroom. What bothers Deacon the most is that he isn’t in a single picture, which means whoever held the camera knew to avoid him.
“Was he in here?” Deacon asks Street.
“No, our guy was in the living room,” Street answers nervously.
“I’m going to kill him,” Deacon seethes.
“Deacon,” Hondo begins.
“Don’t you dare tell me to calm down, Hondo,” he snaps. “That is my wife all over this lunatic’s wall. He’s been within feet of her, and I didn’t know!”
Deacon’s shoulders heave as he breathes, looking around the room with his hand on his gun.
“Deacon, we’ll find this guy. But narcotics needs to get in here,” Hondo says gently.
Deacon nods, pushing between Luca and Tan to return to Black Betty. His anger dissipates with each step. Now, he’s scared. Deacon Kay is a man who has grown unfamiliar with the sensation of fear. He desperately wants to go home, to stay glued to your side while someone else hunts this guy down and puts him in a hole where he’ll never see the light of day again. But the anger flares, and he wants to be the one to lead him to the darkness. As his emotions wage war within him, Deacon has to decide to tell you or to let you keep living until it’s over.
“He’s not okay,” Street points out.
“Imagine if it was your wife,” Luca replies. “He’s mad at himself is my guess.”
“Why?” Tan asks.
“Because he didn’t know,” Hondo answers as he walks by. “But we have to find this guy before Deacon decides to go after him alone."
✯✯✯✯✯
Deacon makes the hard decision not to tell you. He tries to convince himself it’s so that you don’t get scared, but he is dealing with enough fear for both of you. Sitting in the locker room for privacy, Deacon dials your number and waits to hear your voice. He has to force the idea of someone watching you out of his mind.
“Hey,” you answer. “I was starting to think you’d be at work all night.”
“Uh, yeah, about that. I actually do have to stay and probably won’t be home until tomorrow. I’m sorry.”
You hum before asking, “Is everything okay?”
He wants to tell you, but he’s terrified that if you know and it makes you act different, the stalker may find out that Deacon knows and go for you.
“Everything’s fine, just working with narcotics on a difficult case.” It’s not entirely a lie, at least.
“Alright, stay safe. I love you.”
Deacon closes his eyes and pictures your face, smile, hugs, and everything he can remember about you. “I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I’m holding you to that, Kay.”
The line beeps, and Deacon sees the room of pictures again. His anger swells, and he has to do something, or the emotions will eat him alive. He changes into gym clothes and walks to one of the punching bags. His knuckles are pink and beginning to crack after a few minutes of intense anger management. Something in him wants to cry, but he forces it down, preferring to stick with the emotion that makes revenge seem so appealing.
“Deac,” Hondo calls. “We need to talk.”
Deacon begins punching again. “Then talk,” he says between an uppercut and a cross.
You need to go home.”
“Not happening. Not tonight.”
“She can help.”
Deacon freezes, his hands in the guarding position as he turns to face Hondo. His hands drop to his sides as he cocks his head to the right.
“What?”
“She can help,” Hondo repeats slowly.
“How? You think she knows she’s being stalked and didn’t tell me?”
“Not like that, Deac. You need help in something that she’s an expert in.”
“Which is?” Deacon presses, his patience already worn thin.
“Dealing with fear and worry. Being scared and desperate for answers that aren’t available to you right now. She’s a cop’s wife, Deac, she understands what you’re going through more than anyone else ever could.”
“It’s not the same, Hondo.”
“She sits at home, worried that you’re never coming home, so she calls the station. And you know what they tell her? Nothing; they say they don’t have information right now. Which is exactly the situation you’re in.”
“Someone has been watching my wife and I didn’t know, Hondo. I want to kill him, but I also want to see him rot in jail. He’s been within feet of my wife, and we don’t even know what he looks like. I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but it won’t work.”
“I get it, you’re scared, you’re-“
“Pissed?”
Hondo raises a hand to stop Deacon. “The emotions don’t help us if you take them out here, Deac. So, if you want to do something, find something for us to do. Don’t sit here in your own anger until something worse happens.”
Deacon looks down at his bruising knuckles and nods. “You’re right. I’ll see what I can find.”
✯✯✯✯✯
“The entire house is barricaded. Doors, windows, vents. This was meant to be in impenetrable fortress,” Deacon says. “But it’s not. There’s a weak spot. Right here, this red spot on the blueprint is a corner that hasn’t been reinforced. As far as we know, at least.”
“So, a single pull?” someone asks.
“Technically yes. But we’re going to try to distract him and do a triple pull. If we get lucky and one of the other pulls gets us in, we’ll make entry. But the plan is to send alpha team into this pull and get our guy.”
“Weapons?”
“None confirmed, no registered guns, but we don’t know, so operate under the assumption of yes.”
As the room clears and officers prepare to complete the breach operation and bring in a suspect, Hondo stops Deacon.
“Are you up for this?”
Deacon nods as he answers, “I won’t lie, I’m still angry and I’m a little scared about what we’ll find, but I need to be there Hondo.”
“That’s what I was hoping you’d say. If you want to rough him up a little, I won’t see anything.”
“If I could get away with it,” Deacon says, trailing off.
✯✯✯✯✯
Deacon is scared, angry, anxious, and confused, but also merciful and a good SWAT officer. When the window is pulled from the wall, bringing several stud posts down, Deacon leads the team into the house, clearing each room until they reach the living room. The man kneels in the middle of the room, his hands up in surrender.
“LAPD SWAT,” Deacon announces.
“I surrender.”
An officer reads him his rights as he’s handcuffed, staring directly ahead.
“Do you know who this woman is?” Hondo asks, showing him a picture.
The man glances at Deacon, which is all the answer he needs. Deacon hoists him to his feet, pushing him into the hallway and toward the front door. He pulls to the side slightly, steering the man into a corner.
“Oh, sorry ‘bout that, let’s watch those corners on the way through,” he says.
Deacon pushes the man into the back of a cruiser, glad he’s off the street but disappointed in the lack of immediate answers.
“Leverage,” the man whispers. “He wanted leverage. We were never gonna hurt her or nothing.”
“Leverage for what?” Deacon asks, bending into the open door. “And who is we, who are you working with?”
“Working for. He’ll kill me if I tell.”
“We can protect you if you tell us what you know and tell a jury what you know.”
The man whispers a name, and Deacon nods once before closing the door.
“We got one more,” he tells Hondo.
✯✯✯✯✯
“It’s political?” the DA clarifies.
“We all know that gentrification mumbo jumbo was a load of absolutely nothin’ meant to butter us up before the next election.”
“And what did the images have to do with this?”
“Oh, yeah, Mrs. Kay. Pretty lady. We needed her husband on our side or it would never work.”
“How long have you been stalking her?”
“’Bout nine months. Needed lots of leverage before a big voting year like this.”
“Why so many photos?”
“Like I said, lots of leverage.”
“Were you working with anyone else?”
“We’re a two-man show.”
“Last question for now. Did you ever intend to harm the woman in the photographs?”
“Not if everything went according to plan.”
Hondo lays a hand on Deacon’s shoulder as they watch through the two-way glass.
“I need to go home,” Deacon mutters.
“Good idea, man. Take a few days if you need to. But we got him so you can both rest easy tonight.”
“Should I tell her?”
“That, brother, is up to you.”
✯✯✯✯✯
You hear Deacon’s car and run to the front door, opening it with a big smile. Deacon pulls you against him, hugging you tightly as he closes the door.
“I’m sorry,” he says, pulling you impossibly closer as he sits with you in his arms.
“For what?”
“Worrying you all the time. Not realizing just how many emotions are involved with seeing someone you love in danger and not having answers,” Deacon lists off.
You pull back quickly, your wide eyes searching Deacon’s deep brown ones. “What happened? Is everyone okay?”
Deacon nods, his hands wandering around your waist and back. “Someone- uh, we raided a house with narcotics yesterday and found a room full of pictures.”
“A stalker?”
“Yeah, but the pictures were of you,” Deacon adds quietly.
“Oh,” you reply, pressing your hands gently against Deacon’s shoulders. “And what happened?”
“I got so mad and scared and anxious that I couldn’t think straight. I wanted to kill the guy but I also wanted to come home and never leave your side. It was confusing and there were no answers. Hondo talked to me last night and pointed out that’s exactly what you deal with all the time.”
You nod, encouraging Deacon to continue.
“We found the guy who took the pictures and the guy he was working for. It was a political scheme to get me to back their position.”
“And they were going to hurt me if you didn’t,” you deduce.
Deacon nods, pulling you closer again.
“Deac, I know how scary it can be to not know, and how easy it is to get angry when someone hurts or threatens to hurt the people closest to you. I’m not mad at you for not coming home, but I need you to talk to me about this stuff. I love you, Deac, and I’m here for you, stalker or not.”
“Too soon,” Deacon says, chuckling despite himself.
You push your fingers through his hair and lean your forehead against his. “Did you rough him up?”
“Pushed him into a corner.”
You smile knowingly and kiss him quickly. “Thank you, Deacon.”
“I love you,” he says, gripping your waist as he tips you back to kiss you.
“I love you,” you reply, meeting him halfway.

Commercial I would produce as an advertising executive:
We see a husband approach his wife in the kitchen and he smacks her on the rear as she's unplugging a crockpot full of buffalo chicken dip. Their friends have turned the dining room table into beer pong tournament and the kids are laughing in the play room. It's Super Bowl Sunday.
This scene of domestic bliss plays out before us. Warm laughter, excited shouting as their team scores a touchdown, the wife steals a kiss from her husband between sips of wine. This must be what heaven looks like.
The doorbell rings and the husband grudgingly puts his beer down to go answer the door. Who could it be?
He opens the door and we see the latecomer: a giant slug the size of a man, wet and pink and undulating.
"You son of a bitch!" The husband exclaims. "We didn't think you'd make it! How the hell are ya?"
The slug gives no reply but the husband brings the creature into a warm embrace, its viscous discharge soaking his shirt. "Aw, hell, man," he laughs. "Say it, don't spray it!"
The slug makes its grand arrival in the living room, leaving a trail of slime on the hardwood floors. It receives a warm welcome. "Here comes trouble!" "They'll let anyone in this place!" "You missed the first quarter!"
We are subjected to a montage of scenes from the Superbowl party.
-
The kids excitedly dash in to crowd around the creature. "Mr. Wormy! We missed you!" they exclaim, hugging the thing and getting covered in its ooze. Several orifices around the creature's body begin to secrete a dark, chunky substance and the children begin to greedily eat it, their hands and mouths covered in its oily residue
"Whoa whoa whoa, I didn't raise you kids in a barn!" The mother says. "Go get some cups from the kitchen!"
-
"Yo, Mr. Wormy, you gotta try the buffalo chicken dip. It's to die for!" The husband says. He grabs a dripping handful of the warm orange cream cheese from the crockpot and pushes it into the folds of the creature's flesh.
"Quit bogarting the buff dip, hombre!" "Save some for the rest of us why don't ya?"
-
"Yo, Mr. W, I gotta use the can but I am NOT missing the game. Help me out?"
A sphincter at the top of the slug's "head" gapes itself open, and the guest drops his slacks and boxers to his ankles and climbs on top in front of everyone.
"Hoochie mama, that dip's even spicier coming out!"
"Just don't leave the seat up. Trust me, you'll thank me for that one when you and Stacy get married!"
"IF they get married, you mean!"
A loud belch is heard from the creature and the room explodes with laughter.
-
"Alright fellas, the game is over and the kids are in bed. I think we all know what this means!"
"Oh brother," the wife says, rolling her eyes at the other women. "Boys will be boys!"
The men are seen chanting "Wormy! Wormy! Wormy!" at each other as they take turns fucking the folds and sphincters and orifices that line the creature's body.
"Ah geez, Mr. W! Warn me before I fuck a hole with a gizzard stone!"
"Now THAT'S tight! I think my wife could learn a thing or two from you, Mr. Wormy!"
"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we used to call Chet the Two Pump Chump!"
-
As the party is winding down, the men are putting their clothes back on, saying their farewells and getting ready to part ways when the creature starts to heave and convulse.
"You okay, Mr. Wormy?"
Everyone looks on as the creature heaves one last time and a copious amount of murky amniotic fluid begins to pour from one of the creature's holes. The sphincter begins to crown and a human baby is deposited onto the carpet. It has an adult-sized head and the face looks exactly like the husband, goatee and all. It's not moving.
The husband nervously tugs his collar. One of his friends calls out, "Check please!"
The wife comes back from the kitchen holding a roll of Brawny paper towels, a playfully annoyed expression on her face.
It's not a good party if things don't get a little messy. Brawny's got you covered.

Concept: fursonas with non-human senses. Not just canine "can smell better" ("My fursona has no nose." "How does she smell?" "Terrible!"), but actually different senses. (Under a readmore because big surprise, I write a lot)
Sharks who walk into a dark room and go "hey guys!" to the people about to shout "surprise!". Electroreception, yo. They can feel the electric fields in bodies. They have a good job as an electrician, because they can tell which wires are active and which aren't, without needing a tester. One of the guests is a snake who says "I told you this wouldn't work", as they can see in the dark through thermoception.
Corvids who don't watch human movies, especially not in theaters. They're just flickery slide-shows to them. Their vision is too fast, persistence of vision doesn't kick in until like 200 FPS.
I know the mantis shrimp colors aren't real (it's actually just a thing where they have extra cones to make up for not having enough brain to merge them. Like, humans have red/green/blue cones, and we see "yellow" when the red and green cones are both activated, but shrimp can't do that merging. So they have a yellow cone) but fuck it, this is fantasy. Make your fursona have access to all the forbidden colors.
Hell, have them able to see outside the "visible" spectrum! Imagine a furry working at a human-majority office who gets pulled into a meeting with her manager one day, who has to tell her that even if she's covered in fur, she can't wear a top that revealing, they have a dress code. She goes "what? But.. Sally in accounting wears that semi-transparent blouse most weeks!" and then they both come to realize that humans can't see near-IR and therefore don't realize that a lot of their clothing choices are transparent to that wavelength. The furry has just been seeing all these exposed chests and going "wow, I had heard the humans could be prudes about nudity, what with not having fur, but apparently not." and decided to join in one day. Whoops.
Hell, let them see radiation! Who needs a giger counter? They're digging through an junk shop and WHOA, shouldn't this be in the back or in a safe or something? The owner (a Shetland sheep dog) is like "what do you mean?" and they go "it's pretty radioactive, man! Can't you tell?" "uhh.. No. Why don't you put that down quickly and I'll go grab a lead bucket."
An octopus that goes to see a 3D movie but turns down the glasses. No need. They can see circularly polarized light just fine on their own.
You go over to visit a bat's warehouse to get an old computer they offered to loan you and they sheepishly (is that offensive to sheep?) admit that they never bothered installing any lighting inside. Why would they? They can see fine with echolocation. And their friend Skippy never complained, either! Mind you, they are a dolphin.
A park ranger who is a jewel beetle. They can detect fires miles away, but only if pine trees are involved. They're a firefighter in a pine tree forest, so that's fine.
A bee who keeps giving directions in terms of cardinal directions and forgetting that not everyone has an innate sense of North/South thanks to being able to sense the magnetic field of the Earth. And this is after they went to all the trouble of giving the directions in words, instead of dancing!
Tangent idea: a bee pirate who writes a pop song, and it's not until another bee hears it years later that they realize that the dance instructions in the song are actually a treasure map.
Creatures who can sense RF directly. Some of them can't even get near human-style cities, as they're "too noisy". It takes the more mundane inhabitants a while to realize they aren't talking about sound, and earplugs won't help.
Others can pull off amazing mental tricks like the Scramblers from Peter Watts' Blindsight, and the first time they get near a human city they figure out how to decode all these FM signals and within minutes they can watch TV, listen to the radio, or log onto the wifi. They're not robots or cyborgs, they're just unholy smart and frighteningly fast.
And there's no reason it should be limited to natural things... The supernatural is there as well. A furry who mentions they hate going to some human cities because they're so crowded with ancestors. It's not for a while until someone realizes that word isn't being translated exactly right, and they don't just mean "old humans". They mean the ones who lived there before, but are dead. They still see them, and are surprised that the humans can't.
Hell, how about a fursona with an asymmetric design? Different fur patterns, heterochromia, things like that. But it swaps sides from time to time. It's not an art mistake, they really do that. No one understands why until they casually point out a missing item is in the drawer of there, the locked one. Then they reach around all six sides of the drawer and pull it out. What, you can't see in four dimensions? Yeah, sometimes their body swaps left/right because they rotated through the 4th axis and inverted their body. No big deal, but they have to be careful with what food they eat sometimes. All those chiral molecules... You don't want them backwards. Fortunately they've got a pretty strong digestive system so it's not a big deal. And vodka always goes down smooth, alcohol is symmetric!
Speaking of which, fursonas with vulture-like digestive systems. They yell at their roommate for throwing out that expired meat. It's only expired by human standards, and they're just a bunch of wimps who can't handle a little putrefaction in their lunch.
And I know I said "not like canines with just better senses of smell" but there's some interesting options for having beings who can smell things humans just can't. A fursona that detects a gas leak because they can smell carbon monoxide, not just the bitterants added to help humans detect it. Or can pick up on human pheromones, although that one is often covered in werewolf media, I hear. But instead of just arousal/fertility/pregnancy, they can also be like "hey you smell different... Have you talked to your doctor about testing for diabetes? I think your a1c might be high."
Speaking of pheromones, how about fursonas that do things like ants, who automatically put down invisible scent trails and follow them? They are a pain to go hiking with, since they just assume you can follow them if they get out of sight, and you gotta remind them to slow down sometimes.
Hell, fursonas who have quorum sensing, either type. The bacteria-like type have gene expression that changes based on population density. Members of their species in the wild, in rural areas, and in urban areas have radically different phenotypes. The social insect type make decisions with an implicit silent democracy, bordering on a hive mind. They are always surprised when humans and similar want to talk out decisions. Can't they just tell what the majority want and just do that? It seems so much similar.
Speaking of which, ACTUAL HIVE MINDS. You're dating a nice worker bee and and another member of the same hive comes by and says "hello love!" and gives you a big kiss. Your partner is surprised you had any problem with this. They're the same person, basically? And they feel their love for you just as much. (obligatory A Miracle of Science reference: Mars thinks you're cute)
Combine that with insect-like lifespans for some extra weirdness: the one you're dating isn't even the one you started with. The bee-people only live a month or two, and you've been dating for nearly a year now. Hell, even when your first partner was still alive, it wasn't always the "same" bee that came by to visit. Of course, that's putting a human-like kind of perspective on if it's the same bee. To the hive-mind bees, it is. It's the same hive. They have the same mind, just in 70,000 separate bodies. So of course it's the same person. Just not the same body.
Heh. How about magnetic sense? This may be overly specific to my interests, but you hand a furry a floppy disk and they hold it for a few seconds and then hand it back. "Thanks!" "oh, don't you want it?" "oh yeah. But I already got all the data off it." "but... You didn't put it in a floppy drive?" "no? What's the point in that? I just read the flux transitions off the surface. It's not hard."
More esoteric senses, too. You're driving down California one with your partner, listing to some Decemberists and they idly go "huh, Diablo Canyon is still running? I thought they had shut it down!" You're like "what?" They point out the window at the two cooling domes. "The power plant! It's still running. Can't you taste all those neutrinos?" "uh, no." "what, really? They're quite fresh compared to the usual solar ones." "I can't 'taste' those either" "oh. Weird!"
Your plasma-lifeform boyfriend who evolved in space sometimes has dizzy spells where he nearly drives his containment vessel into a wall. "sorry, that was a big one. Those gravity waves must have been from, like, an 80-90 solar-mass black hole merger? A close one too, only a few dozen megaparsecs."
You've long since given up explaining that you have no way of detecting events that take place over 30 million light-years away.
The atemporal energy being who proposes the first time you meet. You're shocked, but they point out why? You have/are/will spent/spending (tenses are hard) over 60 years of your experience of years with them. They just don't really see how this time is different from all the times you have/will spend together. They thought humans liked this "till death do us part" ceremony, even though death has no meaning for them. They're not immortal, but their death is just like their birth (or the energy being equivalent): a discontinuity on the edges of their lifeline. They don't exist past there, just like you don't exist outside of the 3D volume of your body. So what does it matter? Besides, we've had this conversation before, or is it later? Either way.
A hive mind being who only has one body you can see, because they're actually a hive mind across themselves in different timelines. They sometimes get mixed up which version of you they're talking to, and ask odd questions like how your son is doing in college. You don't have son, or any kids for that matter. "whoops, that's the other you. Lemme... You're married to Tony, right?" "Who's Tony?" "Obviously not. Uhh, is Sarah your girlfriend?" "no? I'm not a lesbian!" "Not this you, at least. Oh, I've got it. You work at the newspaper?" "yeah. I'm an editor" "oh cool. Got it. Sorry, it's easy to get all the yous confused sometimes."
Later that week, your boss introduces you to a new reporter, Sarah Torres. You can't help but wonder of this is the Sarah another you is dating. You don't see it. But apparently another you does.
And that tangent makes me think of another one: mind reading, either full or just empathic, isn't that unusual in aliens and such, but imagine a race that doesn't go around reading minds unless given permission, but they have a persistent problem with pronouns. See, they can just tell what your gender is. And closeted trans people keep getting outed accidentally. Sometimes outed to themselves, because they call you by your "true" pronouns, not the ones you're using now.
And the same goes for orientation. Like your coworker will be like "why don't you ask out Steven on a date?" and you're like "Steven? I don't even know if he likes guys, I've never gotten any hints from him..." and they go "what? No, of course he does. Can't you tell?"
(I just invented a species with perfect gaydar. That's weird, right?)
Someone who has that ESP "there were strong emotions and events here" sense, but it goes both ways. They would never visit Hiroshima for the same reason they will never visit Chicago. They don't want to explain to you what will happen there, but they go a bit teary-eyed when you bring it up.
A species that magic tricks just don't work on, and no one can figure out why. They can't see through solid objects, they don't seem to have a super-fast vision, they can't read minds, but everytime you show them a magic trick they're like "the ball is in your hand" or "you have a fifth ace in your sleeve" or "there's another rabbit under the table". They don't even seem to realize it's supposed to be a trick. They're just slightly confused at what you're trying to do.
A species that has the equivalent of a spectroscope/chromatograph built into their body. You hand them a drink and they can list the molecules in it and their concentrations. You'd think they'd mainly be scientists, but a lot of them are bartenders. They make perfect mixed drinks (down to the nanoliter of exact composition) and they can spot a spiked drink from across the room.
A species that can taste your DNA when you touch them. They're a weird blob that rewrites their own DNA on a daily basis, and find static-DNA beings "weird and unusual" and always want to help you with that. Wouldn't you be happier if you had a couple extra arms? Maybe claws? How about switching sex? Just for the weekend, they can put you back to "normal" if you want. Or maybe you'd like to spend some time as a dog? Your two species are pretty close, evolutionary speaking. It shouldn't take more than a day or two to rewrite every cell in your body. Sometimes you "humans" are so boring. They can't imagine staying in the same form for more than a few days, and you fuckers do that for, what, up to a century? Before you "get old and die"? You know, that's a choice. They can fix that. You don't have to age, if you don't want to.
Speaking of which, species with radically different lifespans and approaches to life.
The Dragon's Egg beings occasionally give humans gifts, of books of poetry about their unrequited love for you. There's no point in responding, even if you do come to love them from their writings. By the time you have opened the first page of the book, they're dead, their children are dead, and their grandchildren are getting old.
Similarly there's a race of trees where you can be dating one for 40 years before they reveal that they've considered this just a minor flirty bit of fun. They don't get involved with humans and human-likes, they'll be gone in the blink of a century, so what's the point. You ask them their age one time and have trouble grappling with the fact that when they sprouted, your ancestors hadn't yet mastered the written language. Their still-living parent remembers visiting earth before it had any life outside the seas. You had dinner with them last Thanksgiving. They liked your broccoli casserole.
So... yeah.

Love for Love's Sake Ep 8 (Finale) Stray Thoughts
Last time, the game world began falling apart around Myungha as he refused to choose between his grandmother or Yeowoon dying. With only 15 days left, Myungha began to pull back from Yeowoon, even as he tried to bulk up his relationships with his friends. Myungha received an item to change any part of the story, but could not change himself to admit to Yeowoon directly that he loved him. Despite Yeowoon asking all the right questions directly, Myungha couldn’t say what needed to be said, and chose to break up. We left with Myungha falling into the abyss as the world unwound before him.
Did Myungha erase himself from Yeowoon’s memory? I’m glad his friendships are intact, but it seems like he’s experiencing echoes of Myungha.
Episode 8: Answers
Wait, why does the brand lady remember Tae Myungha?
Oh, this is upsetting. Only the brand lady and Yeowoon remember Myungha. Even his grandmother doesn’t remember.
He wrote “Please make Cha Yeowoon happy” and then he vanished. I get his panic now.
Wait, is Cha Yeowoon a PC now?
Wait, was the brand owner Myungha’s ex in the main world?
Oh no…. Tae Myungha went to see his mom before and she had started a new family and refused to see him.
I approve of the letterboxing to let us know we’re seeing the history from the physical world.
This is putting me in my Sea, Swallow Me and Other Stories by Craig Laurance Gidney feelings.
Wow. I have a lot of thoughts about this writer creating a story because he loved his friend he missed so much that he wanted to give him a second life in a game where you help him see that he is loved and that he can choose to live. “Write me a poem to make me happy.”
ARE THEY IN DIFFERENT REALITIES? WHAT THE HELL??
He’s going to find his favorite person!!! 😭
Oh, romance, never stop hitting me with lens flares to show that the love is bursting.
Yes, let’s continue those kissing lessons.
Whoa, he’s wearing pink now.
Okay, seeing them make out by the sea and then play in it with their friends after that reveal about Myungha just sent me over the edge.
Final Verdict: 9, Highly Recommended. This final episode went to some really dark places, but this is the kind of queer media that I secretly love the most. I’ve written about how grief is a big part of my experience before, and how much Eternal Yesterday helped me cope with feelings that had been in me for 15 years. I think there’s something beautiful in the melancholy of the writer who is grieving their friend in their work. The thing about the fact that everyone dies, is that those who loved us will remember us and they will miss us. A version of us continues to live on in them. When we lose someone tragically, there is a need to process those feelings, and I appreciate the desire of a writer to immortalize their friend in a story where they recognize and receive the love they wished for in life.
I love that there’s a component of death of the author here, where Myungha wants to know who he is and why he wrote things like this, because I wonder if the writer infused some of the writings Myungha gave in life since we recognized Myungha’s handwriting in the missions. He’s trying to give Myungha what he wrote that he wanted and what he wrote about love. I love that we don’t exactly what the creator’s relationship is with Myungha, but the gay in me calls to the gay in him and says that he loved his junior in Myungha the way Myungha maybe connected to in Yeowoon. I like to think that he wrote Cha Yeowoon based on how he saw Myungha, and a part of him wanted to see Myungha happy. Perhaps he felt he couldn’t give that to Myungha in life for various reasons.
I loved the game mechanics so much. I loved the side quests. I loved it because it didn’t work all the time. I know I link Shane Koyczan a lot when I’m being especially emo around here, but it’s like his poem Stop Signs where he’s desperate to connect with his crush and he’s trying everything he can think of to reach them. What it does force to recognize is what’s important. All the running around and trying to get all of these things is about taking care of the person he likes. Earning the money forced him to work at something without just receiving it from someone else. Getting Yeowoon friends made both of their lives better, and they found the other gays! I loved the debuff mechanic because it makes you pay attention to the world around them and approach situations with caution.
This show was beautiful. I haven’t seen an It Gets Better project that hit the right way for me in so long. I like that this show kinda snuck up on us with the darkness. There have been so many high profile celebrity deaths in Korea in the last few years, and there’s gotta be so many more of regular people that we don’t even know. I really love that this story is about loving lonely boys and asks the audience not to give up. I love the notion that loving someone else is a pathway to learning to love yourself. You can love for the sake of love itself. This show surprised the hell out of me, but this is going to be one of the shows I think sticks with me from this year.

you’re jealous, you shouldn’t be | buck
Tumblr media
♡ Pairing: Buck/Gender Neutral!Reader ♡ Genre: A lil angsty I guess?? But idiots to lovers ♡ Word Count: 1.7k ♡ Warnings: Alcohol Mention, Drunken Mention ♡ Beta Read: By the lovely and amazing @thatnerdemryn thank u so much bb!! ♡ Summary: Emotions boil over with you and Buck’s jealously after a night at the bar.
Tumblr media
A frustrated sigh left your mouth as you downed your third shot of the night. You supposed this was you drinking away your sorrows. It wasn’t like you, but you could handle your liquor well. Besides, the night just wasn’t going as planned.
In most ways, it was like any other late night out after a shift. You and the crew were out at Tony's, one of the bars most frequented by police and firefighters alike. It was a chill place to swap war stories and relax with everyone before going home for the night.
Usually, you thoroughly enjoyed it, but tonight? Tonight was utter shit.
The reason for that sat across the bar, in the form of a sly dark brunette trying to have her way with Buck. She had set her sights the moment she walked into the bar. Initially, you were sitting next to him, but after listening to her over-the-top flirting, you found another seat.
It wasn’t the first time you had been forced to listen to someone try to put the moves on him – probably wouldn’t be the last – but why did it have to happen on the night you were going to?
It didn’t help that Buck looked so damn alluring tonight. After shift, he had changed into a maroon short sleeve button up that perfectly complimented his bulking frame. His blonde hair was perfectly brushed back, cobalt eyes sparking and mesmerizing.
God, you were a sucker for him.
Which was why you had finally decided to make an official move on him. You say official because well, technically you already had. The two of you had slept together a few months ago at a party another crew was throwing. It was a brief drunken moment of passion and fun, but one that hadn’t left your mind.
Neither of you had spoken about it since, but you couldn’t stop thinking about it. You wanted to feel his hands on your body again, kiss those plush lips, and more. But, you also wanted more of him - for him to be yours.
You weren’t sure if the feeling was mutual, but why not try? It was hard to work up the courage, but after a talk with Eddie last week, you were ready. Or so you thought.
It wasn’t like you lacked confidence but compared to that beautiful woman pushing up on Buck… You weren’t so sure you stood a chance. It didn’t help that Buck appeared to be enjoying her attention if the laughs and smiles between the two of them were any indications. Hell, maybe he would even be taking her home tonight and you couldn't blame either of them in the slightest.
Maybe the night the two of you spent together had been completely forgetful. Maybe he had never thought twice about you.
The mere thought had you needing more alcohol to pour down your throat. You were about to call the bartender over for another, when someone placed a hand on your shoulder.
“Whoa there. You’ve been knocking them back, think you should slow down?” Eddie asked worriedly as he sat down next to you.
“Nope, I’m just swell,” you replied defensively.
You pretended to not notice the bitterness in your voice.
The brown-eyed firefighter sighed, “We talked about what you were going to do tonight. So, I know how you must be feeling.”
“Fine, I’m bothered, but maybe this is a sign that it wasn’t meant to be… that it’s for the best.”
“I don’t think that’s the case. Sometimes shit just happens, doesn't mean you should give up.”
You smiled at the earnest in Eddie’s voice, knowing he was genuinely concerned and wanted to cheer you up. Eddie and you had grown quite close since you transferred. You thought of him like the older brother you never had. In fact, you had spent most of the night with him after moving away from Buck. He was the only reason you were still here.
“Thanks, Eddie, I appreciate that. I think I should just head home. I’m gonna call an Uber and put this night behind me.”
Eddie seemed to mull it over for a moment before getting up and saying, “Nah, I can’t let you head out of here alone. Let me take you. I’ll just go and say goodnight to everyone.”
“Sure,” you said with a shrug, getting up too. “But I’ll go ahead and wait outside for you. Tell everyone I said bye.”
Eddie nodded without protest as you quickly paid your tab and made an exit before anyone else noticed. It wasn’t like you, but you had seen more than enough tonight.
Love was a battlefield for Evan Buckley and you were its loser tonight.
You accepted the defeat as you stepped out of the bar and breathed in the fresh California air. It was beautiful tonight with stars out and glimmering. You couldn’t even hear any sirens, which always put you at ease.
As soon as Eddie dropped you off, you planned to get into a nice hot shower and let the stress soak out of you. Maybe stay up all night and watch some sappy romantic comedies. You didn’t work again for a few days, you could afford to ruin your sleep schedule.
A few minutes passed and you began to wonder if Eddie had forgotten about you. You were about to peek inside when the bar door opened and to your surprise, Buck stepped out.
“Hey,” he said, stepping towards you with a grin that nearly took your breath away.
“Buck?” You squeaked out, “what are you doing out here?”
The blonde-haired firefighter frowned in confusion. “I’m taking you home. Eddie said you asked me too.”
Your eyes narrowed at that, knowing exactly what Eddie was up to. That no good trouble maker…
“Um no, I’m good actually. Eddie was mistaken, you should head back inside.”
“Nonsense, I’m ready to go anyways,” Buck said quickly, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into him. “Let’s get out of here.”
Heat flaring in your cheeks, you could only nod, your protests dying on your lips at the feeling of his body against yours. It was completely innocent, but just a mere touch from Buck always sent your heart racing. There was no way you were going to be able to say no and maybe a part of you didn’t want to.
Tumblr media
So, here you sat in Buck’s nice shiny car. Your hands wrung together anxiously in your lap as you stared out of the window. The bar was a half hour from both your places, which was only minutes from Buck’s. It made sense to drive home together, but that didn’t mean you were exactly happy about it.
Your buzz was starting to wear off now and so your emotions were coming to you tenfold. After all, you were pissed that Eddie had done this to you. Why had he lied to Buck about taking you home?  Surely, Buck must have not wanted to, considering he had been busy talking to that girl.
Thoughts of them were still buzzing in your mind and you couldn’t help but unconsciously clench your jaw. The mental image of her draping her hands all over him sent a pang through your heart.
“You okay over there?” Buck asked, taking you out of your head. “You seem tense.”
“Just tired, I guess,” you replied curtly.
“You didn’t seem too tired at the bar.”
“Pfft, I’m surprised you noticed, considering how preoccupied you were,” you muttered defensively.
Buck glanced at you in confusion.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You know, you seemed busy with that woman sitting at the bar. The two of you were pretty friendly,” you huffed, knowing how silly and jealous you sounded, but unwilling to give in.
However, you were surprised to notice Buck grip the steering wheel a bit tightly, his eyes suddenly serious.
It took him a second to reply, but when he did, jealousy coated his voice. “Well, you and Eddie were getting cozy too.”
“Yeah, we were talking, so what? Why would you have a problem with that? Eddie and I are friends, you know that,” you asked, squinting.
Buck let out a heavy sigh and didn’t respond. Instead, he got off the highway and pulled the car into an empty parking lot.
You could tell he wanted to say something important, so you waited patiently until he turned to you and spoke.
“I have a problem with that because I like you. I really fucking like you. I have since before we slept together a while back.”
Your heart skipped a beat at Buck’s words. How many sleepless nights had you spent imagining this exact moment? Wondering what it would be like for him to spill his heart out like this to you, but still, you needed clarity.
“But, if you feel this way, why were you talking to that girl? She was all over you.”
“I didn’t even want to talk to her, she started talking to me and I was being polite. Next thing I know you’re gone and all alone with Eddie. So, maybe I let her flirt with me because I was jealous.”
You blinked at his words. Was Buck seriously telling you he was jealous of Eddie? That he thought you liked Eddie?
Taking a deep breath, you prepared to tell him everything.
“Buck - I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t like Eddie, he’s like a brother to me. I’ve liked you for so long too. I’ve been wanting to tell you and I was going to do it tonight, but I let myself chicken because I was jealous too.”
Buck simply stared at you for a moment in astonishment.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“So - you’re saying we’ve both been jealous of the other all night when we could have been together the whole time?”
“Looks like it. We’re idiots.”
The two of you let out chuckles at that and you couldn’t help smiling. Relief and warmth filled your heart as you processed the fact that Buck liked you too. You didn’t have to keep imagining a repeat of that sweet night the two of you shared - more would come soon.
Buck leaned in toward you, intertwining your hand with his and squeezing gently. You could tell he was just as happy as you.
“Maybe I could take you on a proper date tomorrow. We can talk things out, figure out where we wanna go from here..”
You nodded, “I’d love that Buck. I gotta say though, I’m not sure I’m feeling up to being alone tonight. Maybe you could stay over?”
Buck clearly caught the implication of your words, because in seconds he was letting you go of your hand and pulling back onto the road.

Thee Miles Morales x female reader😜
●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●
⚠️Warnings: Kinda angsty, spelling mistakes, slight cursing and the biggest part of all...
⚠️SPOILERS!!!⚠️
(Well not exactly, but you'll know what I mean when you watch the movie.)
Don't read this, if you haven't watched it, Okay!🤠
●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○
• Y'know, most people would go see parents when they're upset. But Miles, he needed to see YOU. Even though his pops life was soon gonna be at stake, he still needed to cool down. Get his head screwed back on straight. Yes, yes, this was selfish. And reckless. But if anyone could heal a black heart, it was his girlfriend.
• About 5.2 seconds later, he crash landed on your balcony. Normally, that would've hurt, but the adrenaline was still coursing through him. He took a shaky breath, and knocked on your window.
• Please be home.
• Miles chanted in his head. The curtains were drawn. Were you asleep? Godammit. He shouldn't of came here anyway. Knowing that Miguel guy (and everyone else he thought CARED about him) he was probably followed. You did NOT need a bounty on your head just from association. He was ready to hightail it, when he heard the curtains spread.
• "Miles?"
• You barely got the word out before you were tugged into a tight embrace. By...spiderwebs?
• "Um...sweetie pie?"
• You squeaked. What was wrong with him? Silently, he picked you up, and slipped through the window. (Still hugging you, btw) He put you down and sighed.
• "Sorry, Y/N. I...I just been through some stuff."
• "Stuff?"
• You asked, with a raised eyebrow. Sure, he's been scarce for a few days. But the crime was still low.
• "Remember when I said I had to figure out what Gwen was hiding?"
• You nodded slowly.
• "Well, uh...this is gonna be long. Um, listen, turns out I'm part of a long line Spidermen. But every gen, a police captain dies. And just recently, Dad got promoted and-"
• "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Pump the breaks for a sec, handsome."
• Was he talking too fast? Or was this still a information dump? You gave him a bewildered look.
• "You're saying your pops is getting promoted?"
• The chocolate hero nodded. You were at that party. Did you forget the deets already? (Although he wouldn't be surprised, you guys were kissing A TON that day)
• "Honey pie..."
• You said with a confused and now concerned look.
• "You're dad passed last year... remember?"
• Miles blood ran cold. Died last ye- What were you talking about!? He was alive! And he was gonna stay that way! Noticing your boyfriend's panicked expression, you gave him a hug.
• "Aww, Is this why you needed to see me?"
• "You'll be okay."
• Sadly your attempt to comfort him was in vain, his heart was still racing. He was home...right?
• "Go on, hug me back."
• You said into his chest. His arms naturally raised up, but he forced them to stop when he took a look a you. You...you looked really different. Instead of one of the many sweaters he lent you, you had one a tattered jersey with the sleeves torn off. Along with dragon tattoos littered on your arms. Even your iconic hairstyle was different!
• "Y/N..."
• "Hold that thought, let's get outta the dark."
• You said. You let him go and headed to the light switch. Miles watched as you did so, although it was kinda hard. His head was spinning like crazy. What was happening...?
• "Okay."
• You said. You turned on your heels.
• "Back to the kiss and make it bet-"
• You paused. You gave him a shocked look over. What was this new style? You chuckled as you crossed your arms.
• "Jeez, you dip for a few days, and become a whole new person."
• You flicked the lights back off.
• "But...I kinda like it."
• "It's not every day, I see your hair down..."
• Miles tensed as you walked up on him. This wasn't you...well not the one he's dating. You leaned on him and wrapped your arms around his neck.
• "It's nice,"
• You snickered.
• "Kinda gives a Huey Freeman vibe."
• Well, at least you were still clever. BUT, he didn't have time for this! He had to get his family! And protect Brooklyn from that spot weirdo in general! So much to do and so little time. He pulled your arms off.
• "Y/N, listen. I gotta-"
• His words fell when his Spider sense suddenly kicked in. He yanked you towards him, and hopped to the right. Just in the nick of time too. The door blasted in.
• "Y/N!"
• Miles ear rang. That voice...sounded oddly familiar. TOO familiar.
• "Miles!?"
• You shouted. Miles!? Like Miles Morales? The dark figure turned.
• "Y/N!? Oh my god, I'm so glad you're okay-!"
• YOUR boyfriend stopped in his happy tracks A awkward silence filled the room. Miles was now face to face...with HIMSELF. Well, a more tormented kinda intimidating version of himself. Where the hell is he!? Both of the males faces slowly went from shock, to deep frowns. YOU, on the other, was STILL shocked. Who the hell was holding you right now!?
• "Miles or...Miles-es?"
• "Who..."
• They both started, slowly yet angrily.
• "In the matrix hell..."
• "ARE YOU!?"
●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●•°○°•●
HAHA! Bet no one saw THAT ending coming. Except the peeps who watched the movie too. Anywho, gotta finish a ROTTMNT ask. As always, Stay cool!😎

Freak Accident
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Reader
Warnings: None! Just pure fluff.
Summary: After the reader trips and hurts their ankle, Eddie offers to drive them home and ends up taking care of them.
Word Count: 3.4k
Autumn leaves crunch underfoot as you make your way through the woods behind Hawkins High School. You were tired of waiting for your ride to show up, and with the sky only getting darker, you decided it was best to just bite the bullet and start walking home. It wasn’t a long walk to your house, but it wasn’t exactly comfortable having to trek through the wilderness in the dark. With no other options, this was where you found yourself. You held your arms around yourself tightly as a cold breeze swept around you. The knitted sweater you wore did little to protect you against the dropping temperatures. You pulled the sleeves to cover your hands as you walked. The full moon hung in the sky above you and you couldn’t help but feel a little grateful you weren’t walking in total darkness.
As you continued your journey, you could hear distant leaf crunching and felt like there was someone following you. Turning back, you squint into the low light to try and spot anything, but seeing nothing, you shrug and continue on your way. Once you hear a twig snap somewhere closer, you don’t bother looking back and just decide to run for it. Your lungs burn as you run, your legs feeling shaky. You spare a look over your shoulder only to trip on a tree root and fall to the ground. Wincing at the pain in your twisted ankle, you bring your knee to your chest to try and get a better look at the injury. The crunching returns and you whip your head up at the source of the sound.
“Whoa! Are you okay?” Eddie approaches you with his hands up, ready to jump in and help you. The many rings on his hands caught your eye as they glistened in the moonlight.
You sigh in relief. “Oh, it’s you.” Annoyance quickly replaced your relief. “And no, I’m not okay. I twisted my ankle, thanks to you. Why were you following me?”
He makes a sympathetic face, “Sorry about that.” He holds his hand out for you to take and helps you stand up. You lean against a nearby tree for support as he explains himself. He hucks a thumb over his shoulder towards the school. “I came out here to smoke when I saw you walking into the woods by yourself.” The edge of his lips twitch upward. “Thought you were possessed or cursed or something.” When you don’t laugh, he puts his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket with an innocent shrug. “Just curious why you were out here shivering in the dark.” You and Eddie weren’t exactly friends, but you were more than strangers. You’ve talked in passing a couple times and even did a social studies project together once when you were the last two students without partners. Everyone called him a freak, but you didn’t really see him like that. Really, he was just an outcast, like you.
You sigh. “My ride never showed up, so I was walking home.” You test your ankle by trying to put your weight on it, only to jump back with a pained wince. "Looks like it’s going to be a longer walk than I thought,” you think, dryly.
Eddie nods in understanding before looking you up and down with a frown. “I mean, if you want, I can drive you home since, you know, walking doesn’t seem like much of an option for you now.” When you don’t respond he rolls his eyes with a lopsided grin. “Come on, let me make it up to you for accidentally freaking you out and making you twist your ankle in the first place.”
You bite your lip as you weigh your options. Ultimately you decide that your house is too far for you to continue walking like this, and you don't want to injure yourself further by continuing to walk on it. You nod a few times reluctantly. “Alright.”
Eddie approaches you with a scoff. “Jeez, don’t sound too excited.”
He reaches towards you, but you lean away from him suspiciously. “What are you doing?”
His brows furrowed in confusion. “You can’t seriously expect me to let you hobble all the way to the parking lot, do you? Now, come on. Give me your bag.” He doesn’t wait for a response and instead puts his hands on your shoulders and gently turns you around, making you shrug off your bookbag. He puts your bag on his back, fiddling with the straps until it lays secure against him. Eddie groans and squats a few times trying to get used to the weight. “Christ! What do you keep in here? Bricks?” The sight makes you roll your eyes with a smile. “I guess this is what a smart kid’s backpack feels like. I should count myself lucky that I’m an idiot.”
You’re about to contradict him when he takes your arm and slings it over his shoulders. His other hand rests on your waist to support you and you feel a warmth spread across your face from his closeness. You can’t help but breathe in his scent of cologne and cigarettes and even a hint of his shampoo. Instinctually, you attempt to keep some distance between you two as a way of trying to be polite. Eddie can feel you pull away from him. “Uh, the point of this is to lean on me so you’re off your ankle.” He pulls you a little closer as he says this and it makes your heart rate jump. You lean on him like he says, your side fully pressed against his, and suddenly it’s not as cold as it was moments ago.
The way his fingers splay against your side is all you can think about as you make your way towards the school parking lot together. Eddie attempts to fill the awkwards silence between you. “So what brings you to Hawkins High this late?”
“I was tutoring someone after school to make a little extra cash.” You look up at him next to you. “What about you?” Your eyes squint as you try to remember what he told you in passing. “Is it that ‘D and D’ club?”
The way you pronounced it makes him smile. The fact that you cared to remember his club at all brings a warm feeling to his chest. “It’s ‘DnD’, and yes. We call it Hellfire, actually.”
You nod as you remember the posters you’ve seen in the hallways. “That’s right. Hellfire. What is it exactly? Some kind of board game?”
Eddie looks down at you. “More like a role-playing game. It’s all fantasy and imagination.”
“Well, if it’s all imagination, how do you win?”
Seeing you’re actually interested in the game, his heart soars with excitement. Not wanting to scare you away, he remained nonchalant with a shrug. “It’s complicated. There are different campaigns with different stories and different objectives. A lot of times it’s just killing the baddest guy to bring freedom to the land.” He speaks the last part in a deep theatrical narration.
You smile as you think about it. “Huh. Sounds kinda cool.”
Eddie wishes he could do some kind of victory dance in celebration of keeping you interested in DnD. Instead, he looks down at you and smirks. “Well, hey. If you’re into it, I can bring you to a meeting sometime and show you the ropes. You can make a character and join our campaign.” When you don’t answer immediately he playfully bumps your side with his hip and adds on, “No pressure, though.”
You look up at him with a grin. “No, that sounds nice. I think I’ll take you up on that offer sometime.”
He grins wider at that. “Sweet.” His demeanor changes suddenly as he looks at you more seriously. “I have to warn you though, there are a lot of freshmen in that club that struggle with their personal hygiene.” Eddie smirks when a laugh bubbles out of you. “Seriously,” he laughs, “It’s not great. We got to keep the windows open just so we all don’t suffocate from the stink.” You laugh again, and Eddie can’t help but feel pride in being the one responsible for it. When you finally make it to the parking lot, he jerks his head in the direction of his van. “Our chariot awaits.”
You give a low whistle at the sight of the old, beaten up van. “She is a beaut’.”
Eddie sighs longingly. “She sure is.”
While still holding you at his side, he opens the passenger door for you. He offers you his hand as you tentatively climb into the seat. You take it with a polite smile that he easily returns. The warmth that was once at your side is gone now and you can’t help but miss it already. “Thanks,” you speak softly.
His dark eyes flick to you intently. “Don’t mention it,” he says just as softly.
Once he’s sure you’re securely in the van, he walks around to the driver’s side. From the rearview mirror, you notice him stop half way and put both of his hands on his lower back and arch it forwards with a pained expression on his face. You realize that with your difference in height, he was stooping pretty much the whole time, not to mention carrying your bookbag, so no doubt there was some pain in his back. When Eddie gets into the driver’s seat, he puts your bag behind your seat. It’s only when he turns back does he notice your frown. “What’s the matter?”
You bite the inside of your cheek. “Well, I saw you stretching and I just feel bad you were hurting your back to help me.”
There was disappointment in his tone. “Oh. You saw that, huh?” He turns around to look out the van’s back windows as he speaks under his breath. “I really thought you wouldn’t be able to see me from there.” The thought that he attempted to hide his stretching from you so you wouldn’t feel bad brings a flutter to your chest. He turns back with a dismissive wave of his hand. “Look, you don’t have to worry about me, alright? I’m doing this because I want to, not because I have to.”
Staring into his eyes, you can see his sincerity. You reluctantly nod. “Alright. Thanks, Eddie.” In your head, you were already trying to figure out a way to pay him back for this.
“Like I said,'' he turns the keys in the ignition and gives you a wink that brings a heat to your face. “Don’t mention it.” Eddie puts the vehicle in reverse and begins to back out. He isn’t even out of the parking spot yet when he suddenly hits the brakes as he realizes he doesn’t know where he’s going. “Wait, where do you live?”
Eddie parks the van in the empty driveway of your house. “My parents aren’t home. They both work late,” you explained.
He wipes his hands on his thighs with a sigh of relief. “Oh good. I was worried I was gonna have to scold them for not picking you up from school.”
His sarcasm makes you blush with embarrassment. “Oh right. I guess that would have been obvious, huh?”
“Relax. I’m kidding. I am seriously relieved though. Most parents find all this,” he gestures to himself vaguely, “alarming. I mean, I’m not exactly a ‘good influence’.”
The way his eyes dim as he speaks about himself makes you want to pull him into a hug. Instead, you shrug. “I think a person willing to drive someone they barely know home after they twisted their ankle is pretty good to me.”
He gives a dismissive shrug. “Sure, but I also was the one to make you fall in the first place.”
“Yeah, but that was an accident, and you were willing to make it right. I think that’s pretty noble of you.”
Your reassuring smile makes his insides twist in a good way and a heat rise to his cheeks. The moment is quiet as he isn’t sure how to respond. His voice is soft and he shrugs with a smile. “Yeah maybe.” With the van being off, the cold had slowly started to seep in as you two were talking. It finally got to a point that Eddie saw you give a little shake and wrap your arms around yourself. He reaches behind your seat and grabs your bag as he speaks. “Let’s just get you inside before we freeze to death.” You move to get out, a hand already on the door handle, when Eddie stops you with frantic hand motions. “Wait, wait, wait!”
You retract your hand like the handle was on fire. “What?!” you ask, worried you almost ruined something.
He shook his head with a lopsided grin like it was obvious and you were being the silly one. “Let me get the door for you,” he explained calmly as he hopped out of the van and rushed to the other side to open the door. You rolled your eyes, but couldn’t stop yourself from smiling. Eddie opened the door with a dramatic bow. “M’lady.” He holds his hand out for you to take. When you giggle and take his hand, he looks up at you with a grin.
“Are you always this weird?” you ask through a chuckle.
He nods emphatically. “Oh, definitely.”
Eddie helps you get out of the van without putting weight on your twisted ankle and once again you are pressed to his side. He notices that you don’t hesitate to lean into him this time, making him smile to himself. As he helps you through your house, you lead with the directions. “My room is down this way,” you point down the hall. As he moves to twist the doorknob, you thank your lucky stars that you made an effort to clean up your room this morning. You can’t imagine the embarrassment you would feel if a cute boy were to see your dirty laundry scattered around the floor of your bedroom.
After he helps lower you onto your bed, he shrugs off your backpack and puts it next to your desk. He slumps into the chair there and lets out a sigh of exhaustion while you begin to slip off your shoes. His eyes flit about the room as he casually takes in all your personal touches. The pretty color of your walls, the little pen holder on your desk that’s shaped like a dog, the box of cassettes on your nightstand, the scented candles sitting on your dresser. Everything about it was soft and inviting. “Sweet digs you got here.”
You aren’t really sure if he’s being sarcastic or not. “Thanks?”
The way you tilt your head as you speak has Eddie smiling. “For real. I like it. Very… you.” He notices the way you hiss in pain while you remove your shoes. “What do you do for a twisted ankle anyway?”
The question takes you off guard. You try to think back to what they taught you about handling injuries in your ninth grade health class. “Oh, uh… I guess I would wrap it up with a bandage, elevate it with some pillows, maybe put some ice on it for the swelling…”
As you speak, Eddie leaves the room without a word. For a moment, you pessimistically think he’s gone home and just didn’t bother to say goodbye, but then you hear him rustling through the hall closet. He returns a minute later with supplies filling his arms and tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth as he concentrates on balancing it all. Pillows from the couch, bandages from the closet, and a bag of frozen mixed vegetables are haphazardly spilled from his arms onto the foot of your bed.
Eddie claps his hands together, looking excited to get to work. “Alright. Let’s do this.” He kneels on the floor in front of you and holds out a hand expectantly. “Hand me the bandages will you, nurse?” He puts on a deeper voice trying to sound like a doctor.
The whole scene is enough to make you laugh. You play along as you hand him the bandages. “Here you are, doctor.”
“Thank you, nurse.” He looks up at you with a lopsided grin before unraveling the bandage. With a gentle hand on the heel of your foot, he begins wrapping your ankle. All you can do is watch as his slow and delicate movements weave the bandage over and under your injury. Eddie is silent as he does this, clearly wanting to do it right. Once again his tongue begins to peek out of his mouth as he goes on. You bite your lip trying to stifle a laugh at the cute display of his intense concentration. Eventually, he finishes the wrapping by securely tucking the end of the bandage behind itself at the top of your ankle. Still kneeling on the floor he looks up at you. “How’s that? Is it too tight? Too loose?”
You shake your head with a smile. “No, it’s perfect. Thank you.” You test your ankle by pointing your toe like a ballerina. It felt much better than it did, although still a little sore.
Eddie stands from the floor and begins reaching for the other things on your bed. “I got you some pillows like you said to keep your ankle up.” He holds up the bag of frozen vegetables. “And you didn't have any ice and I didn't feel like cracking ice trays, so I just grabbed this from the freezer instead.” He goes quiet and stares at it in his hands and begins to feel like maybe it's not good enough until you laugh.
“That'll work great. I was gonna do the same thing actually.”
He releases a breath he didn't realize he was holding. “Oh good. Well, here.” After stacking the pillows, he gently moves your ankle to rest on top of it and places the bag on your ankle. The vegetables fall on either side of your ankle within the bag, making for a good ice pack. Eddie holds his hands up as he steps away, as if the whole thing would collapse. When it's clear that won't happen, he puts his hands in his pockets.
It's clear that things are beginning to wrap up, his job done. With no more reason to be here, he guesses that you probably want him to leave soon. Eddie doesn't want this to be the last time you hang out together. Actually, he hopes you will have the chance to hang out when your ankle is not sprained. The awkward silence that lingers has Eddie inching towards the door, not wanting to ruin the vibe by watching you from the corner all night. He points over his shoulder, smiling politely. “I guess, if you don't need anything else, I should get out of your hair.”
You surprise him by standing from your bed. “Wait, before you go.” He waits as you take a few unsteady steps to your desk and begin to scribble something on a scrap of paper.
As you walk towards him, you stumble, but Eddie reaches out and catches you before you fall. “Whoa! Easy there!”
You look up at him, flushed both from embarrassment and how close he is to you. “S-sorry. I just…” you take a step back, trying to give him his personal space back. You hand him the slip of paper. “ I wanted to give you my number.” The way you look up at him through your lashes shyly has him blushing as he takes the paper from you. “You know, so you can call me when you do your next Hellfire meeting.”
He can’t stop himself from grinning. “Right. I’ll call you.”
His grin is infectious and has you smiling just as wide. “I look forward to it.” Eddie turns to leave, but you call his name. “Oh, and Eddie?” As he turns back to face you again, you gently cup his face and kiss his cheek. His big brown eyes are wide as he stares at you surprised, his face bright red. “Thanks for everything.” You speak softly and genuinely.
Eddie feels like his heart is racing a mile a minute. He’s so surprised and flustered, he isn’t sure what to say back. “Hey, no problem. Anytime. I’ll- I’ll see you l-later.” As he leaves, he stares at the slip of paper with your digits on it, a big goofy grin on his face. His cheek still burns from the feeling of your soft lips and can’t help but touch the spot with his hand as he savors the feeling. He is definitely going to call you tomorrow.

Cryptid!Eddie x Reader | PART THREE
⇠Part 1 | Part 2 | Next⇢
Warnings: Some angst. Accidental/habitual self-harm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your head was reeling as you set cups of warm cocoa and a plate of cookies at the table. Making one more round to check the windows, specifically the boarded one.
"You've been around all this time?" Lucas asked Eddie.
You could hear both the scowl and relief in his voice. Everything seemed clear for the moment. No trouble making teens lurking outside, and the window was fully covered.
Eddie sat looking down at his claws as he let Lucas lecture him. You quietly took a seat at the table yourself.
"And you didn't reach out to, anybody?" Lucas' question was strangled. He watched Eddie fiddle with his claws, anything to not look up at him.
"Dustin took it hard, he blamed himself for years. Wayne got sick when you didn't come back. Dustin's mom took care of him, and he's fine now but-"
"I...saw all of that, Lucas." Eddie murmured, his words rushing. For a moment, you could see something painful flicker across his darkened eyes.
"Then why didn't you say something!" Lucas shouted. "We could have helped you, this is what we do!"
You jolted, you'd never heard the boy raise his voice in the short week you'd known him.
"This is different! Look at me, man!" Eddie's voice cracked as the shout shook free, his claws briefly digging into his own skin.
You watched the little trails of blood leak from the shallow wounds while he sunk into his seat. A small frown folded between your lips.
Eddie's eyes flicked to his fresh scratches, and then over to you, quickly cross his arms as if to hide what he'd done. His head hung down once more.
Lucas fell silent and released a sigh. "We would have helped you."
Eddie continued to hang his head.
You'd never felt so awkward in your life as you sat still as stone. Your eyes shifting between the two while the somber tension hovered.
"You came to ____." Lucas said.
Eddie shook his head, "no, ____ came to me and lead me here. I was just tired of being alone." he muttered.
"If it helps, that was going to be our next project, after getting him to open things and not fall over himself. I was going to sit him down, and we'd figure out how to best to approach his friends and family." You spoke quickly.
Anything to stop the round about in their conversation and to feel less like a piece of the furniture.
"I mean...." Lucas words faded into another sigh as he stood up, "I'm calling Dustin." he stated firmly.
"Don't!" Eddie called hopping out of his chair to follow Lucas a little too fast, he tumbled to the floor, tripping over his own tail.
"Damn it!" Eddie cursed.
"If you call Dustin, he'll call everyone!" He shouted.
"Yeah, that's the point." Lucas replied, reaching for the phone handing behind the counter.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on! Everyone? How many is everyone? My shop is already an oddity, I can't have a crowd in here after dark, people will come looking thinking the maniac's kid finally snapped!" you nearly yelped.
"See!" said Eddie, "put the phone down, Lucas."
You hide your face in your hands, maybe you bit off a little more than you wanted to chew. Even if you could, in fact, chew it.
"At the risk of being fired, kind of too late to worry about that when you've got the monster version of who's become a Hawkins urban legend." Lucas reasoned back.
You bit your tongue as you shared a glance with Eddie. Neither of you wanting to vocally admit he had a point.
Releasing your tongue, you sighed, "Look," burying your face back into your hands.
Lucas paused in his dialing and looked at you with hesitation.
"I'll close up early tomorrow. Lucas can gather these everyones, and we'll all meet upstairs in my studio. Alright?" You offer, muffled between your fingers.
Dropping your hands, you squared your shoulders. That was your employee and this was your shop. You'd calm the mess, for now.
"It also gives both of you time to wrap your heads around what's happening. Besides, I don't know the guy, but what you don't want to do is spring this on a man who's recovering from falling ill. You'll need to tell him gently." you rubbed your temples.
"Not in a frenzied emotional mess." you tried to gauge their reactions, but both were silent.
"I guess that's fair enough." Lucas caved first.
"I'm sorry." Eddie uttered, curling his hand into a fist, he held it out and Lucas returned the gesture with a fist bump.
"Just make it right. Tomorrow. Dustin's out of town, a lot of us are, but for whose left." Lucas stated.
Eddie gave a firm nod. "Yeah, see you tomorrow then."
"Goodnight Lucas." You called, walking him to the door.
This time you made sure to lock it and lock it tight.

Eddie sat on the sofa, eyes glued to the TV, but barely processing what was on. He stabbed his fork into the bowl of leftovers and ate, mind stuck on what could happen the next day.
"No, that won't work..." you grumbled, flinging items out of the old trunk at the foot of your bed.
Eddie jumped slightly as the Crypt Keeper cackled, and a shirt flew over the divider, plopping near the coffee table.
"Are you not going to eat?" He called to you.
"I will! Shortly just-" another shirt flung over the divider.
"Aha!" you called, popping out of the trunk, a long black sheet in your hands. "Used this to decorate last Halloween, it might be long enough, I just need scissors." you muttered.
Wandering around the divider, you made your way to the kitchen.
Eddie watched curiously, "don't tell me you actually are nuts." he said.
"Maybe a little, you'll thank me later." you spoke quickly.
Setting down his bowl, Eddie got to his feet and went to you. Peering down over your shoulder as he watched you snip a large hole into a chunk of black fabric.
"There," you cheered, whirling around to face him. Eddie quickly stepped back and eyed the sheet up and down.
"What am I supposed to do with that?" He asked.
"Wear it, you see, with this hole it can go over your head and cover you up." you explained.
Eddie jumped again as you shove the sheet into his winged arms and rush to a linen cabinet. You pulled out a towel and a rag before returning to him.
Eddie's eyes were wide when you plopped the towels on top of the sheet in his arms. "Now into the bathroom and drop those torn clothes outside. I'll put them in the wash." you offered.
Eddie gawked at you as his mouth fell open, revealing his fangs.
His voice took on an odd pitch,"B-but, I...I can't walk around in a sheet." he stammered.
"It's just until the clothes you had on come out the dryer." You said with a shrug.
"B-but..."
"You don't have to, I just thought it'd be nice if you weren't tracking all outdoors onto the carpet." you hummed.
"I..." Eddie suddenly looked mortified. "Are you saying I-"
"I found you in a dumpster. Now, unless you operate like an Oz witch and can't touch water, I bet a nice hot bath would feel pretty great right now." you sing.
Eddie blinked several times and looked down at his arms and legs. "Will I even fit?" he asked.
You placed your hands on your hips, "yeah, that might be a problem." you muttered. "You could just take a shower."
"Or wash up, either way, it'll help your ankle heal better." you reasoned. You stole a glance at the cuts on his chest, "among other things." you whisper.
"I should go find the bandages."
Eddie watched you wander off yet again. He wasn't sure just how you managed to find places to disappear to in such a little studio.
He looked down at the objects in his arms and shrugged, walking off to the bathroom.
His head quickly popped back out the door. "You aren't going anywhere, are you?" he asked.
"If anything downstairs maybe, but no." you spoke carefully. Walking to the sofa, you sat down next to Toad and pet her. "See." you said.
Eddie nodded and slunk back into the bathroom.
"Why are you so afraid of being left alone?" You thought.

Eddie would have laughed at himself as he scrunched up into the bubble bath. But with so much on his mind, the sound refused to leave his vocal cords.
His tail brushed the bathroom floors as it dangled out of the tub.
He hugged his knees to his chest and tried to focus on the warmth of the water and the scent of ____'s soap he borrowed.
Outside the bathroom, Eddie could hear the distant sounds of laundry being done. His shoulders relaxed.
"All your life you told yourself people suck, and you'd be fine without them." he thought to himself.
"And then when you have to live without them, you become so afraid that the one you can come in contact with will be just as afraid as the others."
He touched his chest carefully, another set of scratches to add to the collection.
"Attacking yourself won't look good." He sighed quietly.
Tilting his head back, Eddie peered up at the popcorn ceiling, his eyes narrowing.
A burst of uncontained laughter roared from outside the bathroom. Eddie sat up with a jolt, his tail flopping back into the bath water, splashing bubbles onto him in a wave.
He spit soapy water out of his mouth and glanced at the door. He could still hear what could only be described as tickled giggling.
A smile found its way onto his face, like lighting a candle in a dark room. Eddie shook his head. "Little nut." he muttered, taking his rag and washing up.
Tumblr media
You'd finally calmed down your laughter, turning away from the Crypt Keeper. "He's gonna be convinced I'm insane." you told yourself.
"But it's a funny show....in context." you said, turning to Toad.
Her expression silently judging you as she gave a half mrow and went to her water bowl.
You got to work putting a sheet on the sofa, turning it as best you could into more of a bed.
"He might be here for a while." you thought.
The bathroom door clicked open, and closed slowly. Turning around, you smiled and bit back the urge to laugh all over again. Eddie rubbed his arm, eyes refusing to look away from the ground as he stood there in his new toga.
"Good it worked out." You nodded with satisfaction, plucking up your small sewing kit.
"I'll just close up the sides." you said.
Eddie made his way over to you, with an involuntary flick of his tail a picture was knocked off the wall.
He cringed and lightly bit his finger, "uh...my bad."
"It's fine, the carpet saved it." you dismissed. Meeting him halfway while threading your needle.
Eddie raised his arms up in a stiff motion, the awkwardness he was feeling oozed into the air, an invisible figurative smog.
"You know I used to have a brother? He's why I know how to sew." You rambled.
"Did he teach you?" Eddie asked.
"Not exactly, he just was built a little different. So his clothing often needed alterations to fit comfortably." you started to weave the thread to close the seam down the right side of his body.
With a contemplative pause, you sighed, "His name was Elias. He was born with Proteus syndrome."
"Ugh, with what now?" asked Eddie.
"You know the elephant man?"
"Oh....um..."
"It wasn't anywhere near that severe of a case. But that's it." You explained.
Eddie watched you carefully, "well, that makes something make more sense..." he murmured.
"Anyway, don't you feel better now?" you asked, trying to lift the mood which seemed to dampen.
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck, "yeah, actually, I forgot how nice a hot bath felt." he confessed.
Silence fell between the two of you again as you got to work on the left side of his toga.
"You know he's not mad at you, not really. It sounded like a lot of hurt and many other things. But you can see in his eyes that -"
"Anger wasn't one of them? Yeah, I saw that too." Eddie jumped in.
He exhaled, "that makes it worse. The kid should be mad at me. I want him to be mad at me. They should be." Eddie licked his bottom lip.
"And there I said no more running." he whispered.
"Hiding technically." you said.
"What?"
"Technically, it was hiding. Not running, not if you were skulking about spying on them to make sure everyone was ok." you reasoned.
"I wasn't-" he stopped himself, "ok, maybe a little. But you don't have to say it like that." Eddie sulked.
You caught a glimpse of the halfhearted pout on his face. His bottom lip poked out. "Look, it's natural. Anyone would have wanted to hide. I want to hide when I get a massive bump on my face, or when I walk out of the bathroom and forget to zip up my fly." you laughed.
"People have hidden away for lesser reasons." you added.
"Yeah, I guess." he muttered.
You replaced your sewing kit with a baggy full of bandaids and antibacterial cream. Leaving the upper left side of his toga seam open for the moment.
"This stuff shouldn't sting too bad." You reassured him, dabbing a bit of the cream onto a cotton ball, and going to treat his cuts.
Eddie stood stiffly, allowing you to, as if afraid to move with you so close.
His skin reveal lots of small knicks that had long healed. "That's a mean habit, I hope it's not all voluntary." you whispered.
"I...n-not always." Eddie stammered.
"You don't have to stand like the tin man. I've owned cats all my life, a little scratch isn't going to kill me. Just so you know." you snickered.
Had you been a little less focused, you might have noticed the embarrassment on his face. He had to wonder if he was so easy to read.
Something warm and rough wrapped around your ankle as you placed the tawny colored bandages over the cuts. It slowly coiled and tightened gently.
Looking down at your leg, you did your best to ignore the tiny gesture, as it seemed Eddie was unaware he'd even done it.
The tip of his tail waves back and forth through the air next to your calf at a calm pace.
"It's like the first time Toad laid on her back near me." you thought with an inward chuckle.
"There, all done, If you go sit down on the sofa, I can re-wrap your ankle." you said.
As Eddie stepped away, he came to notice what his tail had done. In his rush to right the wrong, he stumbled over his own talons.
"Shit," he yelped.
Reaching out for him, you hooked your arms under his shoulders and leaned back. Pulling him backwards to stop his fall.
"It's like having permanently untied shoelaces!" you gasped.
"Twenty. Four. Seven." Eddie growled in frustration.
"Sorry about the-"
You and Eddie look at each other, his eyes search for his tail only to find it's wrapped around your torso, in order to help stop his fall.
Try as you might, the laughter tumbled out anyway.
"Mroooow!" Toad chirped loudly, her tail flickering about in frustration. She couldn't look away for five minutes without her two wards getting themselves into minor trouble. She didn't get paid enough treats for this.
The two of you looked at her, and instinctually paused like two misbehaved children.
"Ugh...he started it." you tell her.
Toad however didn't seem any less displeased.
Honestly, blaming the new kitty like that.
"is your cat always this bossy?" Eddie whispered to you.
"See that's the thing, She owns me." you laughed.
Tumblr media
With Eddie patched up and all the good shows gone off the TV you excused yourself off to bed.
"Sorry to leave you up like this." You said, feet shuffling across the room to the kitchen in your slippers.
Eddie shrugged, "I'm pretty nocturnal." he said simply.
"I gathered that, you slept all day. Though, I was sure it was just because my sofa is comfy."
"I mean...a little of both." he replied.
You yawned, and poured your glass of water. "Well again, make yourself at home, roomie. I sleep like a rock." you said, heading back for your divider.
"R-" Eddie stopped his question and cracked a bewildered smile.
"Thanks." he said.
You give him a tired wave, "oh you know, just trying to earn my wings." you yawned again. "Goodnight."
"Night." Eddie called back, unsure eyes, watching as Toad curled up on the back of the sofa. He still expected to get scratched.
Laying in bed, you closed your eyes, fighting off sleep long enough to contemplate the many way tomorrow would go. You could only hope things worked out well for Eddie.
"It seems like he's been through enough, and he could use the support of his friends." you thought.

Can Anybody See Me? Part 6
Yes, my darlings, you read that right. I promised I would get back on this one once I was done with In the Midnight Hour and admittedly I did get side tracked for a week doing the Valentine’s fics, once that was out of my head I have written almost 7000 new words for this story. I went from half way through this one to a few hundred words into part 10. So yeah. Expect to see this one updated fairly regularly. I haven’t given up on Star Child I’m just trying to decide which direction the next part should take.
Also on the tagging, I HAVE REACHED MY HARD AND FAST LIMIT OF 50. I love the response this story has gotten. I do. I love you all. I love every reply, like, and reblog. It brings me so much joy, you don’t even know. But tagging is hard for my ADHD brain. I have gone up from 20 to 30 and finally 50 as my system improved but I think if I do any more than that I’ll go insane. So any future tagging requests will be ignored. Sorry.
The best way to keep update on these stories is follow me and set me on notifications. I rarely do a lot of reblogging these days (too busy churning out stories like whoa), so more often then not a post will be a story. I try to post at least once a day (some times twice if I’m trying to rush through the posting a bit like I did to make sure the Valentine fic got out in time without making people wait on Vamp!Eddie), just never at set time.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
*
They all met up by the fountain in the middle of the mall. Eddie was bouncing on the balls of his feet nervously.
“You sure he’s going to come?” Jeff asked.
Eddie tried to peer around the crowd. “That’s what he said.”
And then they spotted him. He was in a nice red sweater with a white polo underneath and fitted jeans. Eddie ran his tongue over his teeth in appreciation.
But then he noticed the gaggle of children following behind him. And what a gaggle it was. It consisted of Red, his new best friend, another girl with a thousand yard stare. The tall black kid must be the Sinclair boy. The remaining three were also very interesting. There was the short curly haired kid with no front teeth. The last two were both dark haired, but the one on the right was darker. Hair and attitude, judging from the rounded shoulders and down cast expression of the other boy.
Steve sighed. “I’m sorry I’m late. Dustin called asking me to take him to the arcade, only when I told him that I was going to the mall, suddenly they all wanted to come.”
“And then I got roped into this because they wouldn’t all fit in Steve’s car,” a voice called from the back.
The person jostled his way to stand next to Steve. Jonathan clasped Steve on the shoulder. “I gave Will money to call me when you’re done so I can pick up him and El. Make sure he doesn’t spend it on the gumball machine.”
Steve nodded. “Thanks, man. I’ll see you later.”
Jonathan nodded and waved goodbye to everyone, but especially the timid one. Which Eddie figured must have been Will.
“Your children, I presume?” Eddie asked, eyeing the thirteen year-olds warily.
“Yup,” Steve said with a put on expression. He pointed to each of them in turn. “That’s Dustin, Mike, Will, Lucas, Max and El.”
Eddie did the same to his friends. “I’m Eddie, these are Jeff, Gareth, and Brian. Or collectively, the band Corroded Coffin.”
“That’s bitchin’,” El said with a smile.
Steve ducked his head as he tried not to laugh.
“Hell yeah, it is,” Jeff said, taking an immediate liking to her.
“All right,” Steve said, turning to the kids. “You are to stay in pairs at the very least. And you know who your partners are. Will and Mike, Max and El, and Dustin and Lucas. Regardless of what you are doing, you will meet up here at 2pm. No later. I have plans with these guys at three and I’m not going to be late because of you guys a second time.”
There were a lot of eye rolls but everyone agreed to meet at the fountain at two.
Once they had left, Steve turned back to see that all four of them were struggling not to laugh.
“No, no,” he said, shaking his head. “Go ahead and laugh. Because fuck knows it’s hilarious.”
So they promptly burst out laughing.
“Oh my god,” Gareth wheezed. “It was like watching ducklings.”
“Yes!” Eddie agreed. “My dude, I hope you are charging their parents for this.”
Steve shrugged. “It’s not like I need the money.”
They all just shook their heads.
Eddie clapped his hands together and rubbed. “Right, Stevie, this is how it is going to go. You’ll have one hour to get the most outrageous gift. Ten dollar maximum.”
“Each person or total?”
“However you want to swing it,” Jeff said. “But forty bucks is a lot.”
Steve nodded. “I guess my one concern is that I don’t know you guys very well and I don’t want to offend anyone.”
“So take Eddie with you,” Gareth said. “And then for the last ten minutes split off to buy something for each other.”
Eddie and Steve looked at each other.
“Yeah,” Eddie said, “that could work. What do you say, Stevie?”
Steve shrugged. “Yeah, sure.”
Every one but Steve set a timer on their watches. Steve’s wasn’t a digital one, so he couldn’t.
“On your marks, get set,” Brian said. “And go!”
Eddie grabbed Steve’s hand and suddenly he was being dragged along.
Steve giggled. “Where to first?”
“We are going to Suncoast,” Eddie said with a grin. “It’s the best place for all your metalhead needs.
“Lead on, MacDuff!” Steve said with a grin.
Eddie finally let go of Steve’s hand as they neared the store.
“I found out in drama that a lot of the sayings and words we use today are because Shakespeare couldn’t find the right word and made them up,” Steve said nervously.
“Wait, really?” Eddie asked, coming to a complete stop. “Like what?”
“Well, ‘Lead on, MacDuff’,” Steve said, “just for starters. It’s from Macbeth. Green eyed-monster. Just loads that I can’t think of off the top of my head.”
Eddie stood there for a moment blinking. “If they had taught that in English, I think would pay more attention.”
Steve laughed. “I know, right?”
They entered the store and everything had a dark red neon glow to it and it was clearly separated between the movie part of the store and the music part of the store. It was almost jarring. The movie part was dark like the inside of a movie theater. The music part was well lit and almost sterile white in its design.
They wandered around the music section. And they stopped by the minuscule instrument section. It had mostly accessories but also a couple of guitars. Mostly acoustic but one or two electric as well.
“This is pitiful,” Steve said staring at the selection.
“Beggars can’t be choosers, dude,” Eddie said. “There is an actual record shop with a full on instrument section. But that is not the point of this.”
Steve stopped by the drumsticks. “Gareth is the drummer right?”
Eddie nodded.
“I’ve been to a couple of concerts and I saw that the drummer had a bucket of sticks...”
“Are you asking if you should get Gareth more drumsticks?” Eddie asked. Steve nodded. “Go for it.”
“What’s his favorite color?” Steve asked.
Eddie frowned, but Steve pointed to the drumsticks on display and the had all sorts of different colors and patterns.
“The black ones with the flames on them, for sure.”
Steve grinned and picked them up. They got a couple more things here, but it was time to move on.
They hit up the stationary store, the weird little shop that sold incense and little Egyptian figurines, and Hammond’s Toys.
As they were passing Shapiro’s on their way to Hammond’s Toys, Steve found his gift for Eddie. It took every bit of will power not to just rush back and grab it, afraid it would be gone by the time he got back.
Eddie came up to him. “All right, Stevie. This is where we have to part ways. We only have ten minutes left and we need to get each other something, too.”
Steve smiled and nodded. He doubled back to Shapiro’s and quickly bought it. He raced to the fountain to be there first. He sat down on the edge of the fountain, his packages tucked under his legs so people wouldn’t steal them.
It wasn’t long before the others started showing up. Brian showed up first.
“How the hell did you beat me, man?” he asked as he sat down next to Steve. “I’m always the first to arrive.”
Steve blushed. “I got lucky.” He was practically vibrating with anticipation.
Brian eyed him suspiciously. “And you got a present for everyone?”
Steve pressed his lips together and nodded.
Gareth was the next to show up. “Now that’s just embarrassing. Being beaten by Brian is one thing, he’s a shopping guru. But Steve Harrington, too? However will I get over the shame?”
Jeff laughed from behind him, having just shown up himself. “You’ll live.”
Eddie was the last to arrive showing up exactly at the hour.
“Ooh,” Jeff teased. “By the skin of your teeth. Is Steve-o here really that hard to buy for?”
Eddie grabbed his knees, panting for breath. “No,” he huffed. “Just on the other side of the fucking mall.”
“So,” Gareth said turning to Steve. “Now for the next phase of our little get together. We meet up at my house at three and exchange gifts and play a one-shot.”
Steve wrinkled his nose. “Is that like a D&D thing?”
“Yup!” Brian said gleefully rubbing his hands together. “It a story meant for a single day instead of multiple days like a campaign.”
“Yeah,” Jeff said. “We roll up quick character that are meant to die and just go to town no real rules. Just fun.”
Steve nodded. “Sure I could do that.” He looked at his watch. “I’ve got twenty minutes before the kids show up.”
The other three backed away slowly.
“Yeah,” Jeff said, “we aren’t going to wait for that mob.”
“Oh, hell no,” Brian agreed. “I’m sure they’re great kids and all but I have three younger siblings, if I wanted chaos, I’d hang out with them.”
“Middle schoolers, man,” Gareth said, “are the plague of the earth. See you at three.”
Steve laughed. “Agreed on all accounts. I see you at Gareth’s. I’ll get the address from Eddie.”
The three boys walked off, shoving and pushing each other, laughing as they made their way to the exit.
“So what about you?” Steve asked. “You going to run before the hoard gets here?”
Eddie laughed. “I should. Leave you to the wolves.” He grinned. “But nah. I want to properly meet the kids that Steve the pied piper of Hawkins has taken under his wing.”
Steve blushed. “I wouldn’t call myself that. They barely listen to me.”
Eddie’s face softened. “I’m sure that’s not true. I bet the little sponges are just soaking up everything you tell them.”
Steve huffed out a laugh. “That would explain the language problem.”
Eddie tilted his head to side. “What language problem?”
“They swear like sailors.”
Eddie blinked a couple of time before he burst out laughing. “Having trouble not swearing around kids, Stevie?”
“You would be swearing too if you had to deal with them all the time,” he said with a shake of his head.
“So why do you do it?” Eddie asked.
Steve huffed out a sigh and kicked the side of the fountain with the heel of his foot. “Most of them don’t have great home lives. Except the Sinclairs, of course. Especially when it comes to caring adult men. I know what that’s like, so I try to be that for them.”
“Huh.”
Eddie didn’t have much time to comment on that because the first of the terrors had arrived.
The two dark-haired boys that seemed joined at the hip.
“Hey, Mike,” Steve greeted, “hey, Will. Did you already call Jonathan to come get you?”
Will nodded.
“Good,” Steve said. “Eddie here DMs for his friends.”
Both heads turned to him in shock.
“There is no way,” Mike said. “Steve would never be friends with someone who likes D&D.”
“Hey!” Steve protested. “I’m friends with you assholes!”
Mike rolled his eyes. “Fine. Steve wouldn’t be friends with people his own age that play D&D.”
“Mike...” Will protested, speaking up for the first time. “What’s your favorite class?”
“Bard. It’s kinda self-insert type of thing,” Eddie said. “I play guitar, so I get the class. Um...second favorite would druid. I have a twelfth level druid named Kilmar Goatfiend in a campaign my club is doing right now.”
“You have a D&D club?” Dustin asked coming up from behind Will and Mike. “No way!”
“Yep!” Eddie said with pop of his lips. “The Hellfire club. Lenny Fitzpatrick is president this year. Next year, it’ll probably be Janice Montgomery.”
“You have a girl in your club?” Lucas asked, think of his sister Erika.
“Girls don’t play D&D,” Mike growled.
Steve hit him on the back of the head. “Oi! Your sister played. She’s the one that taught you. Show her some respect.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide. “Nancy Wheeler plays D&D.”
“Did,” Will clarified. “She’s the one that gave me my wizard robes to DM in.”
“You dress up?” Eddie asked. “That’s so cool.”
Will blushed.
Just then girls arrived both of them eating ice cream cones.
Dustin spotted them and gasped. “You got ice cream cones?” He turned to Steve. “Why didn’t we get ice cream cones?”
Steve stood up and put his hands on his hips. “Because they saved their money and bought themselves ice cream cones?”
Max stuck out her tongue at him and El giggled.
“You better finish those up before you get into my car,” Steve said wagging his finger at them.
“Hey, I could take Max home,” Eddie said with a shrug. “I’m heading that way anyway.”
Steve looked at Max. “It’s up to you. You can go home with him or I could drop you off at Hopper’s and you and El can continue to hang out.”
Max thought about it for a minute. “I’ll think I’ll go home with Eddie and hang out with El tomorrow.” She turned to El. “Is that okay?”
El nodded. “I wanted to spend time with Will and Mike today.”
Mike blushed.
“What about you two?” Steve asked. “Where am I dropping you two off?”
Dustin and Lucas just shared a glance and shrugged.
“Well then you two can sort it out in the car,” Steve said and then turned to Eddie. “So what’s Gareth’s address?”
Eddie pulled out a pocket notebook and pen and scribbled out the address. “There you go, see you later, man.”
Steve took the piece of paper with a smile. “Do you always carry a notebook and pen with you wherever you go?”
Eddie grinned. “Sure, sometimes the muse will strike while I’m out and about so I need something to jot down lyrics or chord progressions as needed.”
“That’s sooo cool,” Mike said, a little star struck.
Will and Lucas looked over at each other and rolled their eyes. Eddie fought back a grin.
They split off, with Will, Mike and El, staying at the fountain to wait for Jonathan.

amnesia, arguments and..attraction? pt 1 - five hargreeves x reader
Tumblr media
reader is gn, & five is physically 19 (as well as you)
november 22nd, 1963
the sun shined down upon the city of dallas, texas, a beautiful day for the land. the view you had of elm street almost felt surreal. your hand rested on your cheek and you lean onto the fence, taking in the peaceful scenery.
“can you pass me the gun?” a stoic aging voice interrupted your admiration of the view. 58-year-old five hargreeves was considered the best of the best at the commission. his clean, swift kills, diligence, and obedience to the commission put him on a pedestal in the organization. yet he couldn’t have done a good portion of it, without you. you two were an undefeated, dynamic duo who worked together like clogs in a machine. hell, you two even won a few awards at the annual commission awards ceremony. truth be told, you and five were close, closer than most. it was like a strange spark ignited your friendship with the man. from being close in age, to fighting together in perfect harmony, the organization was shocked you two weren’t even married.
it was pretty obvious you and five had..something going on. was it the casual brushes of hands when grabbing weapons? the more blatant stares at each other when believed the other wasn’t looking? or was it the oh-so-subtle lean in five did when you talked? the coral-tinted blush that swept over both of your faces when these little moments were nothing to brush over. but did he feel the same way? or was it unrequited love from your end?
you hand five the gun, waiting behind the fence for him to take the shot, yet he paused. he put down the sniper and grabbed some sort of journal. the journal was full of calculations beyond your comprehension. seemed like it was full of calculus, but you could make out one number, a 5.7 circled in dark blue ink.
“five what's all this? you planning on leaving me?” you joke, a small chuckle escaping your lips. “do you trust me?” he says, his green eyes meeting your own.
“of course i do, why do you ask?” you question. why would he ask such a thing? he’s been off for a few days, more in his own world than usual.
a blue, galvanic portal open in-front of the two of you. gusts of wind filled the air, almost sending the both of you backward. five’s hand outstretched to yours, motioning for you to take his hand. his viridescent eyes reeled you in, and without hesitation, you took it. the feeling of his calloused hand felt foreign, and at the same time, you never felt so at home. he led with his left foot, right foot, and you followed. the feeling of stepping through that energy source was unbearable like your cells were being ripped apart one by one and being put back together. you still had no idea what was going to happen, hell you didn’t even know where you two were going, yet you weren’t afraid.
-
april 2nd, 2019
the unidentifiable blue energy source shook the ground around the mourning hargreeves family. the electricity and wind surrounded the group.
“what is it?” viktor asked.
“don’t get too close!” allison interrupted, placing a hand on viktors' shoulder.
“yeah no SHIT.” diego quipped
“looks like some sort of temporal anomaly.” luther answered. he stood in front of his siblings, “either that or a miniature black hole. one of the two.”
“pretty big difference there paul bunyan!” diego joked as the portal's energy thundered and crackled louder.
“OUT OF THE WAY!” klaus yelled as they pushed through his siblings, carrying a fire extinguisher while they were at it. of course, klaus not knowing how to use the extinguisher, they throw it at the anomaly. “what is that gonna do?” allison questions. “I DON’T KNOW. DO YOU HAVE A BETTER IDEA?” klaus replies worryingly and defeated. two figures begin to peak through the anomaly
“whoa whoa whoa everyone get behind me.” luther motions. the siblings follow through, except for diego. “yeah, get behind us.” he commands. “i vote for running, cmon!” klaus whines. electricity crackles as the figures emerge. it looks as if it’s two…teens? maybe young adults. the teens fall out of the portal, dropping 15 feet down. the thunder fades as the duo lays on the ground, groaning from the fall.
-
you push yourself up, wincing and hissing as you brush off your clothes that are..much more oversized than you can recall. you turn to your left, a boy, around the age of 19 maybe? he seems to have the same issue with oversized clothing. what confuses you the most is that you have never met this boy before, you don’t know where the hell you are, or who the hell are all these people. “does anyone else see little number five, or is that just me?” a voice says. it’s one of the group's voices. the boy looks down at his clothes, observing his oversized clothes.
“shit.”
“shit.” you both say in sync. the teen turns to you and takes a few steps forward. “who the hell are you?”
“i could ask you the same thing dick.” you retort.
“don’t give me that attitude.”
“i don’t know WHO you are but you somehow brought me here. now your ass is gonna get ME OUT,” you argue with the boy five.
“i don’t have to do shit for you. you got here all on your own." he jests. a voice interrupts, a tall, lean person pushes foward with a black fur coat and smeared eyeliner. "i dont mean to ruin this lovely little couples therapy sesh, but five..it is so good to see you." he leans in for a hug, but is pushed off by five. "klaus, i would rather shit in my own shoe and wear it than be in a relationship with this moronic asshat." he says aggresively while a smile is plastered on his pre pubescant face.
"fuck you." you jibe.
"oh? i wasn’t offering." five retorts, "watch your mouth."
"aren't you blowjob height?"
the blonde tipped hair and the spanish man with the scar stifle a laugh, trying to cover it up with a cough. "allergies, am i right diego?" the woman coughs. "oh yeah allison, i heard they are HORRIBLE this time of year." diego wheezes. they fake cough so much they ACTUALLY start coughing; horribly. you giggle with them. five storms off to the door, almost tripping on his oversized clothes. at that point, no one could contain their laughter. in fact you laugh so hard, you lose your balance and fall over. another laugh can be heard over the commotion. it’s the little dick himself.
"what an asswipe" you thought, but even you can't be mad. it was too funny.
the grand hargreeves estate was not far from being one of the most exquisite and beautiful homes you have ever visited. the dark walnut stained wood accents filled throughout the main floor of the establishment, giving the home a regal feel. “now, let’s get you two out of those things and into something..better.” the curly haired woman says. she turns to you, “my name is allison by the way.” you nod and tell allison your name. “OHH is that italian? french?” the bigger man says, telling you his name as well. “no one cares luther.” five says as he walks down the stairs toward the kitchen.
“shut your mouth.” you spit.
“or what?”
“i’ll make you.”
“aw, that’s cute.”
“bite me.”
“as much as i would love that, i’ll pass.” five nods with a shit eating grin.
“OKAY, i’ve got a couple things that might help you twos..interesting clothing situation.” the pale shorter man interjected. he drops two uniforms, seems like ones in your size. “thanks viktor.” five say. you give your thanks before grabbing the clothes and walking up the stairs. the rooms look like carbon copies of each other, and the majority of them look locked. you jiggle the handle of an unlabeled room. it unlocks and you swing the door open. the room most likely belonged to a young boy: a few race cars scattered across the floor, a rock em’ sock em’ robots poster, and an archery board. locking the door behind you, you plop the clothes onto the neat bed and begin stripping away at your large clothes.
“thanks again vik-.” a muffled boys voice piques your attention. it sounds like he’s right outside the door. the knob jiggles, but no sign of anyone coming in. you continue to throw the uniform top over your head, but a strange noise outside makes you pause. the same noise can be heard again, but this time, it sounded much closer. you pull the bottoms up quickly, but not quick enough.
“could you take any longer? i don’t have all day love.” the annoying pre mature voice rings in your ears once again. “can you.. oh i don’t know, piss OFF?” you bark, feeling slightly violated that he entered without permission. you examine the room once more, then look at five.
“this is your room, isn’t it?” you say with a defeated tone, “sorry.”
“don’t worry about it.” he responds, “just next time ask alright?” he walks with you out the door. you turn your body to reply, but the door is already shut.
“cunt.”

Masterlist
"Jeff's sick. Can you cover bass for practice today?" Eddie asked, peeking into your open bedroom door.
You looked up from the Rolling Stone magazine you'd stolen from the convenience store and nodded. "Yeah, I was going anyway." You said, dog earring the page about the new KISS record.
"Oh, were you?" Eddie raised his eyebrows suggestively and turned around, but not walking away.
You rolled your eyes and stood from the bed. You hadn't been able to make mention of seeing Gareth the last three months without Eddie's suggestive looks and stupid laugh. "Do you, like, want me to fuck him or something?" You asked, stepping into the skinny jeans you'd pulled off of the floor.
"Not particularly." Eddie was facing the hallway while you dressed.
"Then why do you keep making those stupid faces?" You grabbed the Iron Maiden t shirt turned tank top out of the closet before changing into it. Your black lace bra was visible since the arm holes stopped even with your belly button.
Eddie shrugged. "Because I know you guys haven't."
You pulled the frizzy dark curls into a ponytail and laughed. "And how would you know?"
"Because you haven't told me. You tell me everything." He glanced back as he heard you sit on your bed to lace your black leather boots. "But it looks like you plan on doing it tonight." His face soured as he took in the lace and the skin.
You rolled your eyes and tied the laces. "You guys never let me actually play on stage with you. Gotta live my rockstar fantasy somehow."
"Yeah? Gonna have him snort a line off your ass while you're at it?"
You looked up at him rolled your eyes. "If he wants to." You knew he was kidding since none of you did anything harder than smoking weed.
Eddie scoffed and rolled his eyes. "He's gonna be shit today, distracted and all." He said, turning to walk out of your room.
"Tell Jeff not to be sick next time!" You called after him before standing to grab your bass from the wall.
You and Eddie pulled up to Gareth's house having placed bets on how long the boy would be able to focus.
"I bet ten minutes. Five if you actually put on the lipstick." Eddie smirked, looking at the deep cherry red tube you had in your hand.
"I don't think you give him much credit. I think he'll be fine until I start sweating." You swiped the pigment across your lips as you looked into the small vanity mirror.
"I think you give him too much." Eddie said, opening his door to get out.
You rolled your eyes and followed in suit around back to get your instruments.
"It's Eddie and Y/N!" You heard Kevin call to Gareth as you closed the van doors.
"Hey!" You smiled and waved, taking steps towards the garage.
Gareth peeked around the wall and his jaw dropped. "Whoa." He was too far away for you to hear, but you could see him practically drooling.
"Maybe we both overestimated him." You looked up to your brother, who was smirking at the boys in front of him.
"Jeff's got the flu so Y/N is filling in for him."
Gareth swallowed hard as he stepped out fully to hug you. "Hey, baby." He sounded timid as you wrapped your arm around him, pulling him closer to your level.
You pressed a kiss to his cheek and giggled. "Hi." You smiled at the lipstick stain that was delicately stuck to his skin now.
"We're still having practice, right, Eddie?" Kevin asked as he watched the two of you.
"That's the plan until Gareth can't carry a rhythm." Eddie replied, watching Gareth's hand slip lower and lower. "Let's get started yeah?" He said rather loudly before Gareth's hand could reach your ass.
You pulled Gareth down and pressed a quick kiss to his lips before releasing him and walking over to plug your bass into the amp.
Gareth tapped out a basic beat on the drums and you joined in with your bass to warm up.
"It's creepy how they just do that." Kevin mumbled, hooking his guitar up as well.
Eddie chuckled and nodded in time with the beat before adding a riff to it. "Kinda like that?" He asked, smirking.
Practice was going well until, like you'd predicted, you got sweaty.
Gareth couldn't keep his eyes off of your glistening figure as you jumped around, and definitely not when you stepped up to the mic to be the backup vocals for your brother. There was something about the way you used your entire body, standing on your tiptoes, using both hands to bring the mic to your mouth. And don't even get him started on how sexy he thought the contrast in the angelic tone and rasp of your voice was. Gareth's grip on his drumstick came loose as he hit his snare, causing the stick to bounce back up and hit him in the lip.
"Ow, fuck!" Gareth covered his mouth as the tinge of blood made its way into his mouth.
You quickly stripped the bass from your body and placed it on the stand before jogging over to check on him. "What happened, baby?" You asked, squatting down in front of him.
"It slipped and busted my lip." He answered, mumbling through his hand.
You moved his hand away from his mouth and nodded, grabbing the bandana from your back pocket. You didn't always copy your brother, but when you did, it was something practical. "Let me clean you up." You said, pouring some of his water onto the cloth.
He nodded and let you work clearing the smudges blood from his face so you could find the spot it was bleeding from.
"Come on, Kev. Let's give them a few minutes." Eddie said, nodding his other friend away from the garage.
"I can't believe I did that." Gareth mumbled as you pulled him up from the stool and towards the couch.
You bit your lip and nodded, watching the blood trickle from his bottom lip. "It happens, baby. It's okay." You were thankful Eddie had taken Kevin away from here as you watched the deep red bead form and spread into Gareth's lips. Eddie knew about the blood kink.
"Are you alright?" He asked, placing a hand on your shoulder, drawing you back away from your fantasy.
You nodded and blushed. "I just really wanna kiss you right now." You looked down into your lap.
"But my lip is bleeding." He replied, moving his hand to the side of your neck so you'd look at him.
You nodded and whimpered as the blood dripped down. "I know, Gare. I know, it's weird but..."
"But you like it?" He asked, looking into your eyes.
You nodded, flicking your gaze between his eyes and his bloody lip.
"It's okay, baby. Go for it." He smiled, tugging the small cut aparts and creating a slightly heavier blood flow.
You timidly leaned towards him, connecting your lips and moaning lightly as the feeling of his blood on your lips.
One of his hands pulled your scrunchie from your hair to grip it as his other traced down your back and into the pocket of your tight jeans.
Your mouth opened more and your tongue licked the line of blood that had dripped towards his chin before you reconnected your lips with his.
The feeling was unfamiliar, turned on so much with blood in his mouth, but he loved it. The hand in your pocket squeezed your ass before tracking up under your shirt to your sweat dampened skin.
"Should we take this to your bedroom?" You asked, knowing the other two band members, one of which being your older brother, were still poking around somewhere outside.
Gareth shook his head and pushed a button on the wall for the garage door to close. "I think they'll get the hint."
"Looks like practice is over, Kev." Eddie said as he took a drag from his cigarette.
You smirked, pulling your shirt over your head.
Gareth leaned back towards you but instead of kissing your lips he smeared the blood down your neck, sucking hickies into your skin. He would wince once in a while as his busted lip reminded him it still hurt, but he would push it off to the side again quickly as he focused on your needy whines.
"Gareth, baby please." You rolled your hips up into his desperate for some friction. You moaned when you felt how hard he was through his jeans.
He pulled back, admiring the drying blood trail from one side of your neck to the other and down the valley of your boobs. "You know, Sugar, I never thought drawing flowers on you in math class would lead me here. You under me, covered in my blood, begging for me." His fingers trailed over the cup of your bra as he spoke.
You whined again, louder, needier. "Need you so fucking bad, Gareth please."
He reached down to unbutton your jeans as quickly as he could before tugging them down just enough to slip his hand into your panties. "Oh, yeah, looks like you are needy, huh? So fucking wet for me baby. Goddamn."
You moaned out as his middle finger slipped up and down your folds.
His free hand reached down to unlace your boots as he worked you over with his hand. "Such a good girl." He mumbled against your ear.
You turned your head and pressed your lips to his again, sucking his bottom lip, running your tongue over the cut.
As soon as your boots hit the floor Gareth pulled back. "Do you want this?" He asked, standing in front of you.
You stood and nodded. "Yes. Please, get naked." You begged pushed your jeans and underwear off of your body before tossing your bra which landed on his drums.
He stripped just as fast, standing with only his skull and crossbone necklace. He spun you around and pushed you so were kneeling on the couch. He used his knee to spread you further.
You did as instructed, spreading your legs to where he guided you and rested your elbows against the back of it.
Gareth reached out out, dragging his hand up and down your soaking wet cunt before wrapping his hands around his cock and giving it a few pumps. "You ready, baby?" He lined himself up at your entrance and leaned over you, kissing your shoulder.
"Yes. Yes please." You pushed back slightly, whining at the feeling of him against you.
He placed his hands on your hips and pushed into you with a groan. "You feel so fuckin' good." He stated, his voice a low growl into your ear as he bottomed out.
You mewled, unable to even speak. You only nodded in response, squeezing the back of the couch until your knuckles turned white.
He started slowly, one hand working its way around to your clit and circling the sensitive bundle of nerves. "So fuckin' good for me. Takin' me so well." He said, gaining speed as he continued to pump in and out of you.
"S'good." You couldn't get anything else out as you moaned, back arching. You rose higher and higher until your back was flush against his chest.
The hand that wasn't rubbing slow, teasing circles around your clit had wound its way up your body and was squeezing the sides of your throat in order to help support you.
Your lower stomach tightened as you felt yourself getting closer and closer. "Don't stop. Please. Please. Just like that Gareth, fuck."
"That's it. Say my name again baby."
"Gareth. Gareth I'm gonna cum. Please can I cum?" You dug your nails into his arm as you clung to him like your life depended on it.
"Yes, yes. Fuck." Gareth moaned as your walls spasmed around him, pushing him directly into his orgasm. The whimpers and groans that escaped him, directly into your ear intensified your pleasure.
You gasped for breath as you came down from the high, limp in his arms.
Gareth laid you down on the couch and moved to grab a towel from the dryer put you grabbed his hand.
"More." You whined, pulling him back towards you.
"You want more?" He asked, a small smile on his face.
You nodded, opening your legs again. "Fuck that cum back into me, please."
He shuddered and nodded. That was one of the filthiest things he'd ever heard and he wasn't going to deny you. "You're so fucking pretty. I love you, baby." He said, slipping back into you gently.
You smiled and hid your face in the crook of his neck. "Promise?"
He kissed the top of your head. "I promise, Sugar."
"I love you too, Gareth." You looked up him, red faced and sweaty. You laced your fingers behind his neck and pulled him down to kiss you, making him rest most of his body weight against you.
He didn't break the kiss as he slipped his hands under you, lacing them in your hair.
His strokes were slow, deliberate. He kept a steady rhythm as he tapped the soft spongy spot inside of you, bringing you closer to the edge each time.
Your moans suffocated inside of his mouth as he kissed you, showing you just how much he did love you. Your hands fell down from his neck to his chest and around to his back where your nails scratched lightly against him.
"You almost there, Sugar?" He asked, pulling away just a few centimeters to look at your face.
You nodded at him, eyebrows knitting together.
One of his hands slipped back down your body to apply a bit of pressure to your clit. It only took about a minute of this to send you over the edge again, Gareth right behind you, kissing your face and neck until you stopped writhing beneath him.
"I'm gonna marry you one day, Sugar." He said, pulling you up to sit in his lap.
"Oh yeah? What'll the theme be?" You asked, smiling at him.
He looked around and smirked. "Lace and Leather." He chuckled, making reference to your bra and panties and your leather boots.
"I like that, Gare."
"You done fucking my sister? I'd like to come back in, please!" Eddie called from outside, causing you both to grown.
"Lemme get dressed, Eds!" You called back, but pouted when you weren't able to stand up on your jelly legs.
Gareth chuckled and gathered your clothes for you before getting back into his.

In a world where a soulmate’s touch can heal any wound, Mingyu knows his own soulmate can only heal so much.
Tumblr media
Mingyu used to wish for little.
He had an okay apartment -- not luxurious by any means, but comfortable and in a relatively safe neighbourhood. He had a steady job -- journalism isn't exactly revered, especially in these times, but he likes what he does. He didn't mind not having met his soulmate yet -- most people never meet their soulmate, if they have one, and even then, it's not like everyone meets The One when they're teenagers like in the movies.
He felt so young, then, like he had all the time in the world before he met you.
Shifting awkwardly from foot to foot, Mingyu hovers his hand over the number pad next to the apartment building's gate. He can't just stand here for much longer when it's already dark out; he'll look like a creep. The numbers past his fingers look so intimidating, though. He remembers which ones he needs to press, (he has since the first time,) he just can't bring himself to... press them.
But he does, because he can't bring himself to not, either.
Mingyu presses his pinky knuckle into the number pad so he doesn't smear his own blood on it. Your voice comes crackly and broken through the speaker indented in the pylon next to the gate.
"Did you forget your key again?" you ask teasingly -- not for him.
Mingyu simply says, "It's me."
"Oh." Something rustles through the speaker, and your voice grows concerned. "Are you okay? Hold on, I'm buzzing you in."
The lock on the gate clicks open, and a low beep sounds when the connection up to your apartment cuts off. Mingyu sighs, uses his shoulder to push the gate open, and heads towards the staircase. Even though his sore muscles protest the extra exercise, his mind automatically chooses the stairs over the elevator. That would bring him to you faster. He doesn't want that.
Or, he doesn't want to want that.
He's tired, though, when he reaches your floor, too exhausted to remember what he wants and doesn't want when he raps his knuckles on your door. You open up immediately, a concerned frown marring your face as your eyes look Mingyu up and down.
"Cripes, Mingyu, what'd you do?"
His right cheek is all scraped up, still caked with a thin layer of blood and gravel from when he tumbled to the ground just an hour ago. His hands suffered a similar fate along with his right elbow, which he sacrificed to save his precious camera.
He shows you a weak smile. "I almost got them this time."
The tension in your shoulders deflates at his albeit misplaced nonchalance, and you roll your eyes, your signature smile returning to your lips. "Seriously? You're still trying to catch Red?"
"Not catch." Mingyu lifts his camera in one hand, snapping a candid picture of you. "Capture."
"Mingyu!" you whine, putting a hand up in front of your face much too late for it to matter. "Just get in here, you nerd." Putting your hand on his arm, you pull Mingyu into your apartment and shut the door behind him. He feels the connection wash over him immediately. It flows to his hands, then his elbow, then his cheek, an indescribable warmth that begins to make him feel dizzy. Or maybe that's just the effect you have on him. "Take a seat, take a seat. You look seriously banged up."
A groan slips out of him as he sits down on a chair you pulled out from where it was tucked under the kitchen table. "This is nothing. I'm pretty sure Red got shot tonight."
"Whoa." You sit across from him, your brows furrowing, which Mingyu doesn't pay as much attention to as the way you keep holding his hand on top of the table. You must feel the connection too, right? "You weren't all up in that action, were you?"
"Don't worry." Please keep worrying. "This all happened when I was trying to catch up to them after it all went down." Mingyu puts his camera down on the table and removes the lanyard from around his neck, gesturing at himself with his newly freed hand. "Stumbled over my own feet like usual."
You snort. "You couldn't catch up to Red even though they were shot? You never cease to amaze me, Mingyu."
"In a good way, right?"
"Believe what you want to believe," you tease, shrugging cartoonishly. The way your thumb rubs the back of Mingyu's hand has to be subconscious. He knows you would stop if you were aware. "I don't know if I've ever met someone as clumsy--"
The door to your apartment opens, and he calls your name.
"You'll never believe what Soonyoung--" Wonwoo's voice cuts off as soon as his eyes land on Mingyu, his hand still on the doorknob. He immediately takes in the sight; the dirt and dust on Mingyu's shins, the scratches all over Mingyu's face, the way his hand is held lightly in yours. He sighs. Closing the door, he slips his bag off his shoulder and toes off his shoes. He walks over to the table without a word, puts one hand lightly on your wrist and the other on Mingyu's, then pulls you two apart. Mingyu feels the loss of the soulmate connection like a splash of cold water, like all the oxygen has been sucked out of him in a millisecond, but he doesn't react -- tries not to, at least. You look up at Wonwoo, about to say something when he sighs again. "What'd we say about healing before cleaning?"
Eyes widening, you look at Mingyu's cheek, where his skin had started healing with bits of dirt and gravel still digging into the open wound. "Oh shit." You put both your hands up in the air even though you'd already stopped healing Mingyu with your touch, then turn back to Wonwoo with a sad pout. "How do I always manage to forget?"
With a little chuckle, Wonwoo smiles endearingly down at you and lightly flicks your forehead. "It's empty up here sometimes."
You scowl and shoo away his hand, pouting further at the way Wonwoo laughs louder. It's so effortless for him.
Mingyu already knew this.
Wonwoo flicks your forehead again, not nearly hard enough to warrant the way you rub where he hit and the glare you shoot into the back of his head as he turns to address Mingyu. "Let's get you cleaned up, bud," he says casually with a nod towards the kitchen sink.
Mingyu follows him without saying anything. Pulling out the well-used first aid kit from under the sink, Wonwoo goes through the motions with practised efficiency. As a pediatric nurse, and the partner to a very clumsy you, Wonwoo hasn't flinched at the sight of blood in many years. He picks out the gravel from Mingyu's cheek and hands, cleans his wounds with a damp cloth, and leaves the bandages in the kit. They aren't necessary for Mingyu with you around.
As Wonwoo starts putting everything left unused back into the kit, he smiles at Mingyu and gestures back to you at the table. Mingyu doesn't let himself resent the way he knows that smile is genuine. He returns to you at the table, sitting down in the same chair and watching you purse your lips out and pick at the skin around your fingernails.
"Sorry for being dumb..." you mutter.
"It's okay." Please reach out first. "I forgot too."
Huffing out a sigh, you meet his eyes and show off a cute, close-lipped smile. "Yeah, well... still sorry. Can I...?"
You reach both your hands across the table, palms up, and Mingyu feels the soulmate connection even before he places his hands on yours. It washes over him like ripples of flowing, sinking sand.
Mingyu lets himself get lost in the feeling only until Wonwoo returns from the kitchen counter and sits next to you, scooting his chair closer to yours and slinging an arm over your shoulders. You turn your head his way and smile, muttering quietly, "Thanks for making up for my dumbness." Just as you finish speaking, you press a small, sweet kiss against Wonwoo's lips.
Mingyu's hands stay still in yours.
Wonwoo smiles as soon as you pull away from each other, his eyes filled with something Mingyu has only ever observed. "Always," he whispers.
Mingyu swallows the feelings that threaten to rise up his throat like bile. He simply looks down at your joined hands, feeling guilty for being here during this moment between you and Wonwoo -- two people so... comfortable together. And when even just looking at your hands becomes too much, Mingyu focuses his eyes on the table between his elbows, counting the striations in the wood.
The connection works quickly on such superficial wounds.
It's a testament to the...
Mingyu shuts his eyes and opens them again.
...love shared between you and Wonwoo that even with Mingyu, your irrefutably proven soulmate, in your apartment, Wonwoo doesn't act the slightest bit jealous, the slightest bit threatened. He doesn't question you letting Mingyu in while he wasn't home; he doesn't ask why Mingyu felt the need to come to you for something as small as a few cuts and scrapes and bruises. Why he keeps coming back. He holds you close as you heal Mingyu with your touch, letting you lean your head in the crook between his shoulder and neck, and smiles over at Mingyu.
Genuinely.
"Feeling better?" he asks without a drip of malice in his voice.
Mingyu nods. Physically, it's the truth. In his heart, though, he knows he feels much, much worse than when he arrived.
You manoeuvre your hands to flip his over, a satisfied smile spreading over your lips when you see them perfectly healed, as if he never fell in the first place. "Would you look at that!" You lean forward off Wonwoo's shoulder and lift Mingyu's hands to show them off. "Looks like you're not the only doctor in this house."
Wonwoo scoffs playfully and rolls his eyes. "Yeah, if only you could heal yourself every time you get scraped up, you klutz."
Mingyu could heal you. Every time.
He says nothing.
You bump Wonwoo's shoulder with yours, laughing along with him.
Unable to bear you letting go first, Mingyu stands and slips his hands out of yours. The soulmate connection fades like the trill of a faraway train. He thanks you both with a small bow and an awkward smile, distracting his hands by hanging his camera back around his neck, then walks towards the door even though his heart screams at him to stay.
You follow him to the door like the good host you always strive to be, and as he steps out and pulls on his shoes, you stand in the open doorway, Wonwoo directly behind you with his arms wrapped around your middle and his chin propped on your shoulder. It's too cute to look at.
"Try not to get hurt out there again, Mingyu," you say with a smile. Wonwoo nods beside you. "I know you've gotta do what you gotta do to get pictures of Red, but you're no vigilante."
"I know." Mingyu puts both his hands in his pockets. They can't reach for you from in there. He turns his feet to point down the hallway to the elevator. "Goodnight." Please linger. "Wonwoo." He nods at the man clinging onto you like a koala.
"G'night, Mingyu." You stay where you are in the doorway, one hand holding Wonwoo's over your stomach, the other waving at Mingyu.
Is it better that you linger or does it only hurt him more?
He presses the 'down' button on the wall, and only seconds pass before the elevator arrives and opens. He enters, takes a breath, and turns around to face the hallway.
Before you, Mingyu didn't used to wish for much.
He had a nice place. He had a nice job. He didn't know if or when he'd ever meet his soulmate.
You linger in the doorway. In Wonwoo's arms.
You wave again as the elevator door closes.
Mingyu makes many requests of the universe now. Please keep worrying. Please reach out first. Please don't let go.
He doesn't wish he'd never met his soulmate. He can't bring himself to wish that.
But it's impossible not to wonder.
What would his life be like if he met you when you weren't already in love with someone else?
