Classical Music 🎼, Water 💦 & Exercise 💪🏽, individually, are healing.
I envision the pool space, as a place where innovation can happen. year long journey of creating H2shO™️ Classical, a soul-nourishing, performance enhancing, aquatic conditioning class. Introducing H2shO™️ Classical.
As the original H2shO™️ centers musical theater and pop culture, its CLASSICAL cousin takes you into the world of composers Bach, Florence Price, Elena Kats-Chernin and Max Richter.
Though music may be a motivator, NEUROPLASTICITY is always at the center of H2shO™️ programming choices. From sound to movement to word choice, everything I do relates to the brain 🧠.
For this specific project, I listened to lectures, reviewed 20 years of research on the effect of music on exercisers, questioned a neurosurgeon on how the brain processes instrumental music, consulted with physical therapists and reviewed research on therapeutic aquatic exercise. This academic work was the easy part. Then it was time to bring out the big gun.
I enlisted the expert advice of friend, shO girl & multi-hyphenate beloved artist @Clemency to explain both the culture of classical music and for exposure to a diversity of composers. Clemmie was generous enough to create personalized Spotify playlists. Her book best-selling book #AYearOfWonder is still my go-to resource.
Using the multi-directional movement possibilities provided by water, plus the musical textures of symphonic music, H2shO™️ Classical aims to strike a balance between the intellectual appreciation of music and the physiological benefits of vertical aquatic fitness. It is a 360 immersive experience. One that doesn’t require technical understanding of musical theory or superhuman efforts.
With war, a pandemic, a cost-of-living crisis, political turmoil and the climate crisis as part of our daily living, wouldn’t it nice to take a time out? Reserve both a time and have a dedicated space to be kind to both your mind and body. Join the shO.
i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
When you meet your past lives but they're all ignoring you and freaking out over this one guy?
I've seen a few versions of this floating around with the different Leos and I wanted to have a go at doing one for Mikey. They're all collectively realising what a bus sized bullet they dodged by not ending up as messed up as Ronin
My take on the whole 'the JL gets mad at Batman for having a child soldier when he gets robin' thing goes like this:
The League is having a fight with Batman saying it's wrong to bring a child, especially with no powers, into fights with supervillains and it's irresponsible to put children in danger
And Batman interrupts with "so you take him then"
And the League just kind pause, like "huh?"
"One of you can babysit Robin for a week and then we can revisit this discussion."
They're a little confused but eventually Wonder Woman agrees to take him in.
She returns with him a week later. "I apologize Batman, we have misjudged you. I adore him but please take him back now."
(she couldn't get him to stop sneaking out to fight crime without physically restraining him)
You've spent your entire life chasing the highs of heroism. You've whittled away for highschool years watching. Manipulating. Circling your prey like a hawk. You have died. You know your target down to the last detail, your rival, your nemesis. You have built your everything around defeating the golden boy, the rogue who's unfairly blessed.
In the middle of your climactic showdown, the culmination of all your cat-and-mouse, you watch.
As he wanders off.
And very deliberately goes and jumps into a pool of lava.
