with pleasure. i need the serotonin.

the first time tommy spends the night, he cooks buck breakfast in bed. somehow buck sleeps through the entire cooking process which is remarkable considering tommy is loud as fuck as he searches for bowls and pans. but anyway. buck wakes up to french toast with syrup and powdered sugar, bacon, and diced fruit and he does NOT get misty eyed but it is a close thing.

tommy gets quiet sometimes, but especially on the day of his dad's death anniversary. i hc that tommy is a bit of an isolationist. when things get bad or sad in his head, he retreats to his little bubble and puts himself back together. buck is clingy, so it takes him a while to adjust to the fact that sometimes his boyfriend doesn't want to be touched/bothered but once he gets the hang of it, it's smooth sailing. he's learned the Warning Signs for when tommy gets in these particular headspaces, but it's easier when he knows they're coming. so on the anniversary of tommy's dad's death, buck kisses him goodbye when he goes to work, texts him little things that don't demand a reply throughout the day, and just waits for tommy to come to him again. he always does, usually the next day, and he hugs buck tight. sometimes they have sex, sometimes they don't. either way, they spend the day after his Bad Day just reconnecting. catching up on conversations and satiating their skin hunger. buck swears he can't possibly love this man anymore than he already does, but when he has tommy in his arms after a bad day has passed and he's still kind of quiet but cling, he's always proven wrong.

tommy is a shit dancer, like. just. absolutely abysmal. everything they say about white people dancing is true. rhythm could slap him in the face and he still wouldn't know it. buck, on the other hand... well. he's actually not that much better, tbh, but he did spend some time in peru being mother hen'd by an abuela who didn't speak a lick of english (my personal hc) so he knows how to move his hips a lil. all this to say, one day buck puts on some music and tommy is like uhh what are you doing. and buck is like "what, i have to pay you for those flying lessons somehow. get up, old man, we're dancing." and like. tommy... there's no fixing him, i'm afraid, but goddamnit if buck doesn't try. dancing together usually ends in kissing and laughing into each other's mouths, but neither of them would have it any other way

when buck's paternal grandma dies, he needs to go back home to pennsylvania. he's fully expecting to book a plane ticket and see his boyfriend in a couple days but tommy's like "hey no i'm coming with you," and buck is like, "nah, it's okay. really. i'll be there and back in an instant, it's not like i was that close to her" but tommy's just like, "how close you were doesn't matter. she was still your grandma. and your family may need you, but you're still my priority. so i'm coming with" and like. how is buck supposed to argue with that? maddie and chimney tag along and they make a big roadtrip of it. it's fucking ridiculous and extra and silly but there's good music and laughter and the license plate game and tommy holds his hand when buck reaches for him and, you know. maybe going to pennsylvania isn't so bad if all the trips are like this.

i have this headcanon that buck and tommy are physically codependent and extremely tactile in that they just love being around and touching each other. all this to say that, when either one of them is injured / in hospital, they can often be found holding each other in the hospital bed. when buck has a TBI and is unconscious, tommy cradles him close and kisses the top of his head. when tommy is burned in a fire, buck lets him bury his face in his neck to escape the pain. no thoughts head empty, just clingy touchy cuddly beautiful boyfriends

● Little girlie also likes to climb trees, play in the mud, prank the staff, if you get her one of those electric cars from the Human World she'd never get out.

● Likes to yell and throw tantrums; this is the only behavior of hers which Diavolo dislikes, though he is very patient with her regardless. Explains to her why she is being too much right now BUT let's go get icecream instead just to calm down.

● She is hectic, she is faaar from perfect, but his daddy doesn't let anyone tell her off or make her feel bad about it.

● As the other parent.... you hardly can rest with this two but if anyone, it's you who can slow them down a bit if this is not your style.

Barbatos:

● He has experience raising kids, though usually sons.

● He was not prepared for his daughter to steal his heart so effortlessly though.

● He is absolutely in love since day 1. She was just born and now he'd do anything for her.

● Though she is not going to be so spiled to do whatever she wants, she must learn to be nice and polite - though I think she is a much calmer kid than Diavolo's, for example.

● She likes to pick flowers, play on the swing, dress pretty, and she likes to give kisses. She also likes to help her daddy cook!!

● Her dad is so proud of her, even when he is tired he refuses to rest unless they had playtime.

Simeon:

● Antoher person with experience; though the infant stage is new for him as well.

● He'd absolutely love his child no matter the gender, but his little girl is a copy-paste version of him of course he is obsessed.

● Gets up every single time she cries, does anything to calm her down, has endless patience. ● Hardly ever gets frustrated even when he hasn't slept well in years. Truly a perfect example.

● Likes to go on trips as a family!!!

● Very soft-spoken with her, explains everyting as many times as needed.

● His daughter isn't too spoiled but she has everything a kid needs. Has simple toys, non of that loud flashy stuff.

● Loves to read her stories inside, in the garden, on the road, doesn't matter he just wants to make sure his baby is set for a good, creative, happy life.

Solomon:

● Okay I doubt he was the protective kind BEFORE becoming a father..... and he is not going to change AFTER becoming one either.

Jaehyun isn't ready to say I love you.

You say it all the time, like it's the easiest thing in the world. And it should be. He thinks it. He knows he means it. He wants to. But he just can't convince his lips to form those three simple words.

There are moments when he tricks himself that he's ready. Usually, when you're far, far away, or he hasn't seen you for a while.

He'll practice.

Repeats the phrase in his head until it sounds right. Rehearses forming the words and memorizes the way they feel so he won't mess up. But the moment he goes to actually say it, he can't. No matter how bad he wants to, he just... can't, and he doesn't know why.

But Jaehyun is certain that he does love you.

So, in the meantime, he holds it in his eyes. Pouring every ounce of his affection into how he looks at you. He takes photos on his phone to look back at when you aren't looking. Smiles so wide it hurts his cheeks when you're showing him your newest outfit. Never once let's his gaze drift if you're telling a story, even if it's longer than expected.

He shows it in the things he does for you. Like when your days are long and your eyes can't stay open, he let's you rest on his shoulder. He started carrying chapstick in his pocket because you always forget yours. Lends you jackets and sweatpants even when you insist you aren't cold. Holds you close during the night because you asked him to once. And he loved that feeling so much you never had to ask again.

Jaehyun isn't ready to say I love you.

But you know he does. Which is why when I'm sorry flows from his lips instead, you're smile never fades. You simply shrug and tell him it's okay, that you don't want him to pressure himself. And assure him you can say it enough for the both of you.

Until he's ready.

So what if MC is a god, not a good one nor a bad one, not popular but neither unknown. That doesn't matter to them, they have unlimited power and are immortal. So what best way to use that power than go to gamble for the fun of it? They are cunning and extremely confident (for obvious reasons) and treat others with basic respect but it is apparent that they view them as ants compared to them.

You can choose which OCs find out they are a god and wich don't. How would they react? How will they act around them?

Specifically for DD, MC decides to gamble their life and loose just to fuck with them as they try to pierce their skin and it's simply impossible (or maybe not and they love too much and spare them, I still don't know what he would do if their beloved lost their life)

He feels his heart melt out of his chest when you lose. Time stops as he falls on his hands and knees in front of you, eyes wide and unfocused. He's not ready to have a dead darling.

But you seem confident. Was this your plan? To get rid of him, you want to die? He can't stand to watch as you make your way confidently to the execution arena.

Did he go too far? Did you really need to do this? He can be better. Please don't leave.

But the blade doesn't make even a dent as it rests against your skin. You laugh mockingly toward the crowd before announcing your immortality with a confident smile.

Amias is shattered. You did this all... just to mess with him? Oh, dear. Such a pretty little bird doesn't need to be making a big fuss. You'll be safer from yourself in his arms.

Edge

Edge always knew. He could see right through you. It just makes you even more interesting, in his eyes. The way you look down on him... He's so untouchable, usually. So for you to treat him like an insect?

Degrade him more! Tell him how useless and disgusting he is! Fuck, you've unlocked something in him. He's never been treated so poorly before, and he's entranced.

Double Down

He has no clue. He doesn't care much about your degrading comments. He's been rejected before, and he'll still go after you no matter how many times you tell him to die.

DD absolutely REFUSES to kill you, even when you gamble your life. You'd have to get him real mad before he even considers it, which is very difficult to do. When Edge tells him he HAS to, he says he's quitting his job then. He doesn't care. He'll walk out with you on his arm (you looking less than amused) whether you like it or not.

So, now he's unemployed and attached at your hip. You're annoyed. This weird mortal is clinging to you like a weird dog with separation anxiety. He looks happy, though.

Jackpot

He's already prepared to worship you, so don't worry about being a god. Nothing will change, he adores you either way.

If you gamble your life and lose, he's broken. Forever. Doesn't matter if you don't actually die, he's shattered. You did it on purpose? Even worse. He's never going to forgive himself.

He's hardly what he used to be. He won't eat or sleep. By this point, Gambit probably hates you. Jackpot's by your side, weakly clinging to your hand whenever he can be. He doesn't show up to work, either.

You've ruined him.

Gambit

Gambit isn't sure how to feel once he finds out. He ends up with the information on accident when Edge tells him, but he doesn't know how to react. He doesn't change much, maybe gets a bit more shy around you.

He loves you regardless, don't get him wrong. He just doesn't feel worthy of being around you.

If you gamble your life and lose, he'll calmly escort you out of the casino to give you a stern lecture on the value of life. You're half asleep by the time he finishes.

He'll keep you tied up if it means he can keep you safe, no matter how immortal you are.

No, this isn't healthy. This isn't healthy in the least.

It's one thing if her outfit was just a white top + white pants + blazer, because that's a very stylish and on-trend look. Which is part of the problem with Diana; she was a) a very stylish lady who created and/or participated in a lot of fashion trends and b) her "era" was the first time there was wall-to-wall coverage of how any member of the royal family wore dressed so her fashion is incredibly well-documented.

And because of both those factors, it's inevitable that Kate and Meghan would eventually wear outfits similar to outfits Diana has worn - for instance:

This happens because while fashion trends are cyclical, classic styles (white with polka dots) and classic color combinations (red and purple) endure regardless. This is what her blazer + white outfit look had the potential to be: a coincidental fashion trend.

Where Meghan and Kate get into trouble with Diana's fashion is when their outfits are exact copies of Diana's outfits, which makes it look costumey.

Kate has managed to stay out of that "costume" realm by making nods to Diana but still keeping her own sense of style/self:

But that doesn't mean Kate has totally avoided the costume realm. She does have outfits that make you side-eye her as well, but Kate is largely able to avoid the Diana comparisons by being able to point to these similarities as being part of her Kate's personal style: coat dresses and patterned dresses, which we see her wear regularly and consistently.

Unlike Meghan. We know this classic, traditional, British look isn't her own personal style or fashion sense because of what we normally see her in: neutrals, virtue-signalling messages, and more laid-back/casual. So when she does pull out a look eerily Diana-like, it becomes more costumey and much harder to forgive. It looks intentional. Obsessive, one might say.

So getting back to the original point - Meghan's unhealthy obsession with mimicking Diana's wardrobe. What makes her white outfit + blazer choice unhinged is having the same (or similar) loafer-style shoes. If she had literally worn any other kind of shoe - her usual 6in stilettos or flats or sneakers - it wouldn't be an issue.

But that she (or someone close to her) decided to find that specific shoe and wear it with that specific outfit? It's intentional, borderline obsessive. And not in a healthy way. It's not a "oops, we wore the same outfit" like this:

It's not a "haha Kate gets style inspiration from Diana" goof like this:

It isn't a "sweet nod to Diana" like all the times Meghan has worn her jewelry either:

It's "wow, that's a little extreme" because it's shoes. And I'm sorry but when you're copying someone's shoes from a specific outfit, that's not a coincidence.

Meghan thinks she's being clever when she does things like this. We know she likes the SEO boost she gets when she links herself to Diana. We know she likes any/all kinds of attention, good or bad. But honestly when she gets to that level of detail concerning Diana's outfits, it just makes her look certifiable. It also makes a lot of people worry about Archie and Lili and not in the way that Meghan wants us to think of her children.

Do you have any hot takes or unpopular opinions regarding Before The Storm?

I have a lot, actually!

A: It could have been the best game in the entire franchise if Episode 3 just didn't...do that. Like, I genuinely think Episode 3 is so bad that it tanks the quality of the game even though Episode 1 and 2 are fantastic. In fact, Episode 2 is my favorite stand alone episode in the entire franchise.

B: Rachel would have been a better protagonist.

C: The back-talk mechanism isn't bad or cringy. Yeah, it does feel like Chloe isn't dropping any actual good insults and instead the people around her are just tired of dealing with her...but I think that's kind of the point. A part of Chloe's characterization is that the people who should be helping her (Joyce, Wells, Etc.) don't know what to do with her, so they just....don't do anything. I think the back-talk is meant to make Chloe look like a troubled teen, not Kendrick Lamar talking about Drake.

D: Rachel doesn't actually get much characterization in this game, and she's still pretty much a blank slate. She tells Chloe at one point that she's afraid she doesn't have a personality, and she thinks she mirrors other people because she's unsure of herself. That in of itself is characterization, and we do know some things like "Rachel was passionate," and "Rachel liked theater," but I still don't think we ended the game truly knowing Rachel Amber, because Rachel Amber didn't even know herself. In other words: Most interpretations of Rachel are still valid. (And TBH I prefer it that way.)

E: Chloe's characterization was really good. I've heard complaints that BTS softened Chloe's personality too much, but I think it makes sense that she's not as jaded considering she hasn't lost Rachel yet. I also disagree with the complaint that Chloe is too "teenage angsty" in this game. She is very teenage angsty, but she's enduring the normal amount of teen angst while also having heavy trauma. That's just going to make a fifteen year old real angsty.

F: I LOVE Steph and Mikey...but their characters make no sense. In the first game, Chloe is heavily implied to not have had any real friends since Max left other than Rachel. Adding their existence just makes things more confusing...though it's very clear that Before The Storm resented being a prequal and desperately wanted to be it's own thing...which isn't how prequals work usually for...a good reason.

Because i just reblogged a similar post making up Clone slang, and it got me so excited I can't sleep, I'm gonna catalogue the slang I already use and maybe add more later.

Some of these I got from studying legends novels/guides.

Dirtside- referring to being deployed on a planet.

scuffed- referring to a younger clone that isn't shiny but isn't experienced either.

The robes- The jedi council

Off gassing- taking a piss. (A reference to a headcannon of mine that gas canisters for blasters have to be completely emptied before being disposed of).

past the perimeter- also reference to pissing or otherwise taking part in solo activities with ones pants down. ie "where's ___?" "He's past the perimeter"

"Star eyed/ seeing the sun"- referring to the transition period in which a shiny first makes it off of Kamino and is fascinated with the outside world. think Omega stopping to feel the dirt.

Rotated- gone to bunk/cot to sleep. usually meaning got off duty.

"Seeing lights"- depending on the situation either seeing an enemy or seeing a Jedi. Referring to clones keeping a look out for one another during stealthy moments, either stealthing around enemies or otherwise breaking rules their Jedi wouldn't approve of. lights referring to droid eyes or lightsabers.

Reds- used to be meds, short for medics. in reference to the red medic symbol.

Smokes/sticks/puffs- the clones have access to both relaxing and energizing smoke able substances. like cigarettes but some are caffeine laced.

Hung up- put on medical hold. unable to fight due to injury.

Cooked- burned by proximity shots or getting too close to a grenade. But minor burns. no need to be hung up.

Stamped- released from medical hold. OR finished with advanced training such as ARC training.

any reference to a helmet or visor being tilted/fogged/on backwards- you're a bad shot.

Green- a shiny who isn't just inexperienced but also overly eager/ by the book. Referencing the green training armor. Dogma was green.

WFE- Waiting for evac, can either literally mean waiting for a gunship, or it can mean killing time at the end of a mission before it's time for their scheduled evac. Can be used as code for hitting up a bar or otherwise wandering in civilian territory occupying themselves.

All right so I Have Things To Say and it ain't about Christmas lights.

So I responded to one of those blogs where everything bad is Georgia Tennant's fault for existing because she is preventing David Tennant from either marrying the blogs owner or Michael Sheen (which in their mind it's probably the same thing but anyway)

So after commenting the usual you can't tell the state of a strangers marriage from a single photo you weirdos and it's none of your business anyway wtf is wrong with you, the OP who I won't name because I'm not a complete asshole responded thusly.

To paraphrase, it's hypocritical that ppl don't push back on the people who post about how in love GT and DT are but do when someone posts about how they think the marriage is in trouble.

So I responded thusly

yeah but in my experience ppl who see them happy just post thing like " awww ❤️ so in love 😊" and go on with their day. Whereas the ppl obsessed with their supposed marriage breakdown, analyse every single photo, comment, post for reasons why it's all Georgia's fault and why she is a terrible person (I have no idea what she is like in person but then neither do any of the haters so) and a lot of it smacks of misogyny to boot (she isn't smiling enough? Are you fucking kidding me right now? ) and it's not like this is something new or unique to DT and GT, when Benedict Cumberbatch got married the unmitigated hate his wife got was astounding. And even if their marriage was going bad, what are strangers picking at it on the Internet going to do about it? Except cause more stress and sadness. You think DT likes hearing this shit about his wife and mother of his children? I don't think ppl get upset because you might be right and they might be wrong, they get upset because these are real people with real feelings and real children and real friends all of whom are negatively affected by this kind of constant picking and analysing (everyone knows the whole body language thing is BS but that doesn't stop entire blogs from being devoted to it 🙄) and spouse bashing. It doesn't make you a loyal fan, DT doesn't want your uniformed take on his marriage. ( and neither does MS)

It's just so gross.

Sirena Leech

Age 42. Gorgeous. Love her. She's a salmon mer in her true form. She's for sure a rich man's daughter, not satisfied with anything but she can step on me . Will yell at wait staff because the food is "too cold". Lowkey, she was hoping she was betrothed to Jade, because he's the calm one. But joke's on her, he's a master of poisons, it would not go well for her.

Side note: Just like Floyd is planning to kill her, she's been planning to kill him for a year. She's just a little too slow. Perhaps in another lifetime she succeeded, but not in this one. But in that other universe, she is sending the kids off to boarding school the second dad is dead.

I want her to kill me she's so hot

Kai Leech

The oldest, at age 15. Has his Mama's eyes, and his papa's disposition. He's starting to prep for the NRC entrance exams, but he's definitely a family man, who is not excited for college because it means he'll have to be away from papa and his siblings. He's a protective big brother, despite his eccentricities. He has been known to have a bit of a temper, and has swung at some bullies who went after his cousins or his siblings. Probably will be placed in Savannahclaw. He's very well aware of how often his parents fight about whether he should be betrothed or not, and is crazy grateful that his papa has stood up for him and his free will.

Coral Leech

Age 13, and angsty. She won't take any bullshit, and she and Sirena are at each other's throats constantly. At age ten, she asked dad, "What happens if mother dies?" With dark eyes. Sometimes she leaves articles about husbands who murdered their wives around. Papa always says it's a joke (he is well aware it is not) but mother wants to ship her off to boarding school. Coral refuses to be the cookie cutter rich girl her mother wants her to be, and is doing everything she can to make herself seem scary enough to not be married off should something happen to papa.

Pearl Leech

Age eleven. She's cute and sweet, and mother's perfect angel... usually. She has her father's energy levels, and while she is very kind, her kindness is often loud and frenetic. Her kindness usually leaves a mess behind, whether it be a messy kitchen after she makes brownies, or a room full of broken items where she made a craft. But she means well.

Caspian Leech

Age nine. He's the serious one. Dedicated to his studies, wanting to be a big man so that Papa will let him take over the family business....

Most of the time.

He's close in age to Anemone, which makes them best friends. But it also means they fight constantly. One moment they'll be playing house with some dolls, the next they are breaking each other's dolls because "you aren't playing the game right!"

Mother will be so proud of him one moment, then ripping her hair out the next.

Anemone Leech

Age 8. Again, best friends with Caspian. Well behaved, until they are wrestling on the ground and destroying a store. Has her mother's eyes, which makes her mother have a little bit of hope, but Leech genes are strong. She is still young, still developing her personality. And with how boring mother is, and how fun papa is, take a wild guess about which direction she is going to go in.

Jade Leech (Jr.)

Age 5. Floyd begged to name a kid Jade. And the answer was no 6/6 times. But when Jade opened his eyes, Sirena rolled her eyes and said he could name him, but also made sure to note that she was done. Which is so fair after six kids, but the reason isn't the number of kids, or even that she doesn't want anymore. No, she's just lost hope that any will be "civilized". She entertained his desire for a big family because none of the kids so far had been worthy heirs, but she's giving up. A cruel thing to say when you're holding your newborn baby, but hey, rich people, amiright?

He's a good bean, a complete sweetheart. He just enjoys being included! Sure, he has no idea what's going on, and he knows mother is mean, but everyone else is wonderful and he's so happy!

okay so random ass Aaron hdc

i think Aaron has a horrible stomach

like really bad even when he was a kid and before he started using

he also has a pretty poor relationship with eating which doesn't help

so dude is pretty much constipated all the time

growing up in his environment he likely experienced food scarcity

and then he started using which only added to his stomach

problems bc using drugs and health are not in the same sentence

and then Andrew locks him in the bathroom to detox, which makes him hate small closed-off spaces, specifically the bathroom

so being in the bathroom for long periods of time with the door closed, specifically pooping, stresses him out

and does not help with his bowel movements

Aaron could be in the bathroom for upwards of an hour and he can barely stand to be in it for more than 10 minutes with the door closed

and he's not about to shit with the door wide open so he just suffers through the mild stomach pain

he doesn't eat great or drink enough water which doesn't help

and he can go weeks without pooping sometimes

he tells Nicky who isn't quite sure how to help, but listens anyway

he can usually manage just fine with his stomach pain but sometimes it gets so unbearable that he can just sit there

like his back hurts, his head hurts, everything hurts

Nicky asks him about it, and Aaron explains that his stomach hurts, and lets it slip that he hadn't used pooped in 2 weeks

and Nicky is like dude wtf and is about to take him to the doctor

but aaron convinces him not to even though he feels absolutely awful and sick

and andrew walks in and looks at him curled up in his chair and studying and is like " does your stomach hurt?"

and he brushes it off about a bug, though its clear he's lying

andrew probably had constipation problems at one point due to the sexual abuse he suffered so he's empathetic

so he goes to the kitchen and makes aaron tea, and gives it to him with no explanation, saying it'll help

its a laxative tea, that used to help him, some combination of the warm temp. and the laxative makes it easy to shit

so aaron drinks it and like 30 minutes later he rushes to the bathroom and basically shits his bodyweight

he was in and out of the bathroom in less than 40 minutes, which is less than half the usual time it takes him when he's all stopped up the way he was then

and he leaves the bathroom, andrew is sitting outside by the door and just looks at him

and is like " you good?"

and Aaron is just horrified but nods and they never talk about it again, though aaron is really thankful

and Andrew doesn't exactly track his brother's diet and bathroom habits but he does keep an eye out to make sure aaron isn't suffering because he's to stubborn to admit hes constipated and needs help

also right after aaron detoxed he refused to be in any bathroom by himself so he makes Nicky go in with him for like a month straight, before he realizes how childish he is behaving

Mothers n Monsters

With Mother's Day coming up I figured I would include some wholesomeness involving the Hybrid 141. The following is inspired by @bluegiragi 's Hybrid au and includes @diejager 's reader character Hunter.

Mother's Day is something you are still new to since it was a holiday your biological parents didn't bother with. When you were in the program some of the other hybrids found mother figures in their retainers and mentors.

When it gets brought up in conversation and you learn more you start to wonder who exactly your mother is. Johnny's mom is definitely in there since she took you in. Hunter, you consider a parent because of how they've taken care of you in many ways, and not just you but the entirety of the 141. The last one you think of is Laswell since she'd been talking to you quite a bit to get information back to the program and keep you safe.

The question is... what do you do for each of them?

You ask Johnny for help with Mother's Day with his mother. Johnny often goes into whatever city is nearby and sends a few souvenirs to his mom, whether it's some trinkets, ingredients or even some alcohol. With it, he writes a letter, and you write one too. When the package arrives his mother smiles seeing the usual letter from her son, saying he's happy and grateful to have someone waiting for him to come home every day. What she isn't expecting is a second letter from you, and the adoption papers fully signed. In the letter, you tell her how happy you are to have a family not just on base but one waiting for you in Scotland. You've written about so many of the things you've done and all the things you're excited to do. You thank he for everything, letting you stay with them during the holidays, the extra clothes, and for becoming your new mother. She smiles reading through both letters, before finally looking inside the care package, seeing more than just knickknacks and the bottle of alcohol. You've left some drawings for her as well, of flowers you'd found and places you'd been.

Hunter is a bit harder. They're the kind of person who will say, "I don't need/want anything". You don't know what to get them so once again, you go around asking for help. Of course, you go to Johnny first, and he's a little confused at first. To his knowledge, Hunter doesn't have kids but when you explain your reasons that Hunter is kind of like a mom, he understands a bit better. Johnny has to think about it as well. He suggests coffee, as does Kyle. It's not a bad idea. You go to Price and ask him, and honestly he isn't sure himself. He settles with your help in the infirmary is probably enough. Next, you ask Simon. He also isn't sure but if he had to guess, probably less work needed to be done in the infirmary. Horangi straight up shrugs, not sure how to answer the question, though he figures that a massage or a few nights off would be a pleasant luxury. Konig did actually plan on getting Hunter something small for Hunter, not necessarily as a Mother's Day gift, but as a small thank you. A couple of chocolates couldn't hurt. You get Alejandro's input and it's one you can agree with, which is ensuring any and all prep work and inventory is completed ahead of time.

Rudolfo gives you a great idea though, the one you ask him for help with. Like Hunter, Rudolfo is human so he knows the drawbacks of being a human among many hybrids. You get one of those mugs, but make a custom label for it, and a bag of Hunter's favourite coffee and tea. For the next few days, you go to the other soldiers in the medbay to ask for their help in getting inventory and prep work done ahead of time, and they show you how to do all of it. When Hunter wakes up on Mother's Day they stretch, get out all of the sleepiness, and head over to the infirmary to get to work. When they get to the coffee machine they find the small gift and a small note. The note says, "Happy Mother's Day Hunter, I've gotten the prep work done in the infirmary the night before so you can have the morning to yourself. Enjoy." Hunter looks at the label on the mug and it says "The Beast".

Finally, there was Laswell, and once again you were a little stumped. You didn't know what she liked. Price is your go-to for this question, and he isn't entirely sure himself. He too, doesn't entirely understand the whole mom perception until you explain it. Not sure what else to suggest, he suggests you ask Laswell yourself.

Laswell comes to see you. These visits have become a bit more regular, to ensure the program has no reason to take you back. When you sit with her and go over the usual questions of, how are you, are you eating well, is everything going well on base, etc, you ask her what she would want for Mother's Day. The question catches her off guard a bit.

"Mother's Day? Spirit I'm not a mother." Laswell clarifies.

"You kind of are." You say. Laswell decides to humour you.

"How?" She asks.

"You always make sure we're okay on base, and have everything we need. You watch over us on missions, you come by to check in with me and make sure I'm okay. You've stood up for me before. When I saw my mother, and told you, you immediately called the program to tell them off for not telling us sooner." You explain. Laswell consider it for a moment and she gives you a smile. She didn't think of it like that, and honestly, she figured it was just part of the job and not much else.

"I think hearing all of that is enough for me." She tells you. "Thank you."

wolfstar + jegulus spiderman au

i was thinking about this in the shower. thats right, this is a literal shower thought.

the idea: both james and sirius are spider-man. they both know each other's identities - james tried to hide it for a week, but then sirius was like "you became spider-man and you didn't invite me? :(" - and are often seen together during fights and the such.

thing is, sirius likes remus and james likes regulus. you can see where this is going.

wolfstar

sirius has liked remus for a while - practically everyone but remus knows.

remus is an oblivious little shit who plays off sirius's flirting as just his usual mischievous behavior and doesn't take it too seriously.

remus doesn't care much for either of the two spider-men and it absolutely breaks sirius's heart (/j)

sirius starts to do the most reckless shit ever to gain remus's attention - both as sirius and as spider-man. he randomly starts coming home with a limp while spider-man is just reported to have leaped off a fucking building.

and sirius continues to do this until finally, finally, remus mentions how reckless spider-man is being.

sirius takes that as a win and lays off on the reckless attention shit, and remus takes notice of how sirius doesn't limp as much anymore.

but of course, he plays it off, because sirius was always doing reckless shit outside of his spider-man duties.

so they return to their usual wolfstar behavior.

that is, until sirius comes home to his house - where his parents live, and where sirius usually steers clear of - to heal up from a bad fight, and remus is there.

remus wasn't supposed to be there - at least, not until later, when the two had initially set up their meeting time. (sirius and remus and james and peter, who isn't really included, share a dorm, but sirius wanted to bring remus for a ride on his motorcycle and it was stowed away in his parent's garage)

and sirius doesn't notice - y'know, post-battle deliriousness - until remus goes, "spider-man?"

and oh shit does sirius freak out because that's remus, staring at him, bloodied and at his worst, with practically half of his mask torn off and remus still doesn't know.

so he rips off the bandage and takes off his mask - or, what remains.

and remus is staring at sirius in disbelief, and yet, sirius can see the cogs turning in his head.

"oh my god," remus whispers. "that was you. you fell off that building (or whatever sirius did to get his attention)."

and sirius tries to play it cool, but remus won't drop it because sirius currently has a bullet in his shoulder and oh god he's hurt.

remus knows that spider-man has sustained worse, and yet, he helps him with the bandaids and he helps remove the fucking bullet in his shoulder.

and they're both silent until remus says, "how long?"

and sirius goes, "since the field trip."

and remus asks, "who's the other spider-man?"

and sirius, being a good friend, decides against revealing james's identity, so he lies and says, "i dunno. we aren't exactly tight."

"but you're with him all the time."

"it's easier to have a buddy to fight with, moony. we don't go around showing off our identities."

and from then on, remus is hellbent on making sure sirius is properly healed after his fights and remus realizes that oh, sirius likes him too.

i think you know where this goes.

jegulus

james, on the other hand, has not liked regulus for a while. everyone knows that he's head over heels for lily evans, and yet, he finds himself drawn towards sirius's brother.

but he can't like sirius's brother because that's sirius's brother.

he tells sirius, who doesn't care, but james knows that sirius is very protective of his brother and sirius also wants what's best for james and so, sirius ends up laying off on him.

so he hyperfixates on being spider-man and completely ignores regulus - almost to an extreme, which throws sirius off, because james and regulus are good friends.

james also undergoes a sexuality crisis because he likes lily, he doesn't like regulus, he isn't gay, what is happening??

anyways, he continues on hyperfixating on being spider-man, before realizing that regulus is a nosy little shit.

regulus, he finds from sirius, is obsessed with spider-man. he tries to hide it, but his computer tabs are full with reddit theories on who the spider-men might be.

and james panics, because if he's actively ignoring regulus while he's on a hunt for the identity of spider-man, it'll be a little bit more than obvious.

so he stops, although his sexuality crisis is still underway, and so james is a mess of emotions, bruises from his fights, his spider-man life, his classes, and everything in between.

while trying to be as inconspicuous as possible - which is actually even more conspicuous, because he's james - regulus realizes one of the spider-men has been right under his nose.

james fucking potter.

and it makes sense, because james was ignoring him and then he was so obvious and regulus decides to play along with james because he's curious on how he might find out.

james eventually breaks under all of this pressure that he's mostly placed upon himself and goes up to regulus.

"hey- uh, I'm-"

"spider-man," regulus finds himself saying, shocking them both.

"what?"

"it's pretty obvious," regulus says. and he goes on a rant about how conspicuous james was being and james tries to play it off but he only proves regulus's statement further and he eventually tells him.

of course, regulus still doesn't know that james likes him, but he deduces that in a matter of time, and then jegulus is official.

(lily is secretly devastated because james is hot, but there's always marlene.)

So Never Again. Just saw this post and the way she looks up at him there is on a level with Mulder’s famous Fallen Angel eyes and his reaction to her? He doesn't melt? He chooses violence and being a dick? Please tell me why.

i LOVE this question because it is so easy to see it from scully's perspective. it's her episode. but you really have to think about mulder's perspective.

for mulder, this seems out of nowhere, and in his mind she was extremely inattentive with his informant on a case he's taking seriously. he doesn't understand what she's really asking or what the problem is, and a big part of that is she doesn't exactly either. it's almost like she's blaming him for the stand still in her life, but at the same time wants to be seen & appreciated (in a way that she understands, can feel, can see). and i don't think she could have figured it out the way she needed to with mulder. she needed the safety of talking to a stranger, someone inconsequential to her life. (like there's no way she could have that "other fathers" conversation with him lol) so ed jerse is the one to give her that. (she does with ed what she can't yet do with mulder. something neither of them are ready for and she isn't brave enough to do yet. and like. idk i just think she needed this! regardless of mulder lol)

like: "this isn't about you. or maybe it is, indirectly. i don't know." the one thing she got right is "i don't know" lol so of course mulder is confused!!

if you place leonard betts first, she's contemplating what she's leaving behind. has she had any impact working on the x files? on mulder? who is going to remember her? what evidence of her life will be left? in that office...it looks like she's had very little effect. (but i do not subscribe to this one.)

if never again is first, which i like better lollll (it makes more sense to me. i understand why people like lb first, it's more clear cut. it puts a reason behind her behavior. but i just don't think it quite fits. scully literally doesn't know what's wrong. if she was already worried about cancer, i think it would come across differently. but she's frustrated & confused and she wants for something she can't admit, express, pinpoint, articulate? idk what word i'm looking for lol) scully's just hit that point in her pattern again, her cycle...it took her four years, and after some rough cases (paper hearts – she couldn't help mulder despite how she tried, el mundo gira – a dead end. and idk, so many of their cases. and she's always wrong, he always does the crazy thing, he's always hurt)...well anyway, at the end he's still asking "all because i didn't get you a desk?" he still isn't quite understanding, until she says it's her life and he almost says "yes but it's become mine." he doesn't say it, they sit in silence, and in leonard betts, he tells her she did a good job & should be proud. all his little jokes like he's trying to make her laugh, to get back to their usual banter. because he wants to make her smile. so he understood at least a little by leonard betts. but they also come to a silent understanding. i just love the way kae talks about it. and i think the end is kind of the explanation for the beginning. the end is the real answer to the whole episode, and what it took to get there...and this post here, kae just understands him and talks about him in a way that i feel. it's exactly what i see in a way i could never articulate. (and she does my favorite thing!!! connects different moments. the characterization is so good.) and she has such a special insight to both of them, different patterns, but to me two sides of the same coin.

and so, either way, at the beginning of never again, he's completely thrown because he doesn't know. this is when their bad verbal communication and personal issues/insecurities/fears take hold. they're both so good at taking too much responsibility.

we're seeing into scully's mind a bit, but we aren't really seeing into his. but he's afraid, he doesn't want her to leave (something he's feared for a long time), he thinks space is the answer to whatever's going on. but he's also kinda needy and he can't just say that. so he calls her and they misunderstand each other again and she makes a date. he isn't trying to be an ass but he's scared & defensive, and he gets like that when she makes him nervous. like whenever she believes (beyond the sea, revelations, all souls, en ami). it feels like that to me. he's afraid, but this time he thinks he's the problem, their work is the problem. and he kinda said the worst thing he could say to her at that moment. "you were just assigned" — he has no idea how she understood that, how it hurts her. (and she's not thinking about how he means it, what he thinks/feels/fears.) and really, it's because she sucks at just saying the thing as much as he does. it takes them a long time to work out their direct communication. their unspoken communication, the way they work on their cases doesn't translate to their personal relationship. as intimate as their partnership is, working through their own issues takes time and it's those things that hinder them moving forward for so long. ya know?

i think @randomfoggytiger talks about it beautifully here — in depth essay on never again. here they touch on mulder's fear/walls & scully's insecurities/needs. it's a journey!! which they talk about here. and i forget what this one was (lol) but i'm sure i saved it for a reason: a little master post. i love the way foggy breaks things down, especially visually. it's something i could never do.

There was a pandemic and travel restrictions. Even if he could have gone, he would have to stay in quarantine before and after obviously messing up the filming schedule

First of all, they were living together on that house, as much as you think otherwise it wasn't her house. It was their house, as partners of years who already lived together anyway. Again, who told you he didn't want her to be famous? Ok so weird thing: Puppet Zelda. I mean, it was pretty obvious as a player Imo? But what I don't get: The tears show her ONCE! and it's the scene right before Ganondorf gives Sonia a backbreaking back massage. It's alluded to that she (he) did some other weird stuff to mess up for Sonia and Rauru, and it's not expanded upon at all. I was so put off by that, because it feels like that would have been a big chance for ACTUAL character development for ALL the characters from the past. What did P-Z do? Where was Ganondorf? Was he hidden, or was he inside the castle? How did Sonia react to it? How did Rauru react to it? How did Sonia catch on? Why was it only Sonia and Zelda confronting P-Z? Why wasn't Rauru somewhere hidden as well? I doubt Rauru would have dismissed such a serious accusation. Sonia confronts P-Z, Zelda comes out, then Rauru lies in wait to check for extra danger. The time it takes for Rauru to arrive also kinda makes me think he wasn't that far away? P-Z is a cool concept, but I'm still just so baffled by the absolute "non-story" they built by alluding to her bullshit.

Okay so. Yeah. I completely, 100% agree, and I want to use the opportunity to air out a very particular complaint I have not really seen a lot of people talk about, because I just rewatched that scene and I am shocked all over again.

The teacup scene, after Ganondorf submits, is, in my opinion, horrendous. Like not because of secret Problematisms (though yes also this, we just saw them asking their enemies to kneel and the very next scene they're having a little tea party with cake between royals while armed guards protect them and it's not supposed to be a red flag and it's wild to me), but because the actual writing, at a craft level, reads like a first draft at best. There are three narrative information beats that matter in this entire scene:

The war has stopped

Zelda wants to help her ancestors and not only return to her own era (??? okay, she already did and the problems are technically over already as far as they know??? and it's not a choice she's making since she still can't master her powers and never learn to btw)

Rauru learns Link's name

I'd argue the only real important thing is that Rauru learns Link's name, and it could have been done in a much more interesting and dynamic way.

Instead the scene just goes on and on with lore dumps that never go anywhere, reiterations of the bond between Zelda and Sonia we had already established, dialogue that is... shockingly bad...

Actually, let's examine just one case: "Ah. I can see that you have absolute faith in him."

Like, just, general pro-tip: if you use "I can see that X" in dialogue and it's not ironic or used as de-escalation and just there to reiterate what we have just immediately established, cut that line. It's doing nothing, it's dead weight, it's just grinding the pace of a scene to a halt for no reason (unless you want it to be about stagnation, like I could see a David Lynch dinner scene where every character restate each other's actions by saying "I can see that you really like the gravy." over and over but it's not.... very applicable to more generic situations). This is writing 101, and the scene is full of these nothing sentences that go nowhere and establish nothing about the characters or the world and set up nothing and pay off nothing and it's driving me wild!

(also it does my least favorite thing in game writing aka the game praising the player character for an unreasonable amount of time, but I realize this is a pet peeve and not as important but it always makes me roll my eyes incredibly hard when it's not earned and it wasn't earned or useful here, the fact that the scene ends on everyone being like yaaay link!!! is... completely disconnected from the actual story happening in the past and shouldn't be the focus of the characters at that moment --it would be more powerful if Zelda used Link as an image of strength to inspire Rauru after Sonia's death later, for example)

It's a scene that completely undermines the tension built in the previous memory, makes the timeline of events confusing, and it leaves a ton of questions open, like: where the hell is Ganondorf? What is he doing? What did Rauru mean by "keeping him close", if he isn't actually close? Do they think he returned to the gerudo lands while he actually stayed hidden in their palace to do his Puppet Zelda shenanigans? I don't know! There is no way to know, because we're being told about teacups and how Link is amazing instead of anything relevant to the plot!

So yeah. Would have *gladly* done away with that teacup scene and focused more on a very tense moment of Sonia and Puppet Zelda where she acts very suspiciously and maybe aborts a first attempt at stealing the stone that goes nowhere, and this is when Sonia catches on that something is off? Honestly, I would also have killed for an actual scene of tension between Zelda and Ganondorf where they, like. Talk to each other. Instead of this actual current version of the story where they never do. And maybe this is how he realizes that she has a special connection with Sonia and it's how he tries to get her.

But yeah. Sorry, I kind of hijacked the ask into a "this damn teacup scene!!!" *shakes my first at clouds*, but I think it mirrors the thought that priorities were not given to the actual tension points laid down in the story. Puppet Zelda inherently calls upon ideas of fear of imposture, of abuse of power, of insecurity, of a twisted version of what Hyrule *could* be, which is so interesting and ripe with conflict and counterpoints.

I would have done unruly things for a Zelda arc where she is struggling to be a ruler and she's still very insecure and wrecked by guilt over the Calamity thing and feel disconnected from the land because of the whole "being locked 100 years away fighting a demon" thing and her daddy issues, and this is this insecurity that Ganondorf picks up on and preys on by trying to dismantle Hyrule using her very image as he plans his Big Comeback, and our role is to unite all of Hyrule against this weird nasty caricature of her created by an envious man who was furious to see his rule rejected and his rebellion considered less important than peace, then go to her acknowledging the immense and unjust sacrifice she made becoming a dragon and being like "hey Zelda we all love you and we will all fight for you because we made the choice to believe in the future you want to build" and it would have been soososo powerful and I would have perhaps shed a tear or two or ten. ;_;
