there's something very amatonormative about the way booker sees the world
he tells nicky and joe that they had always had each other, whilst andy and booker only had themselves and their grief and that's uncharitable and an amatonormative way of looking at the world.
yes, nicky and joe are in a long-term romantic and sexual relationship that is very solid, but that doesn't negate like... their platonic relationships?
when booker says that, it is so damn self-absorbed and naive and amatonormative
does he not realise that nicky and joe have always been with him too? that nicky and joe lost quynh too? sure, andy lost her lover but look at nicky and joe when they tell nile about quynh - they loved her and her loss deeply fucked them up.
booker's betrayal is so, so selfish and amatonormative. and sure he had his reasons - grief, alcoholism, depression - but those are not excuses, but explanations. I'm on the side of 'booker is a character and what he did was understandable and he clearly needs therapy' but 'holy SHIT let nicky and joe feel BETRAYED because they were and shouldn't have to moderate their reaction to protect ickle booker' - like the amount of work booker needs to put in for a proper reconciliation is astronomical.
anyway I digress. by saying 'you always had each other', booker is being an amatonormative little shit who downplays both nicky and joe's platonic relationships, I love and care for the other immortals, including him, but also that they have suffered loss too - their families, and how their first meeting wasn't exactly serendipitous.
anyway! booker's framing of nicky and joe is deeply fucked up, stemming from amatonormativity and booker's worldview of competing grief. like booker.... grief sucks but it's not a competition, y'know?
anyway! this is a Reading TM of booker's worldview vis a via nicky and joe that I've felt strongly about because booker just like. is so self-absorbed in his grief that he cannot recognise and appreciate what he has, nor can he recognise that nicky and joe's lives haven't been sunshine and rainbows because they're in a romantic relationship.
like bro. they love you. go to therapy.

I really do love how the world of Genshin Impact, of Teyvat, is set up to guide the Traveler to godhood and make them a "good" god at that.
Because one thing is for sure Celestia is limiting the world - it is paraded as the highest of high ideals to achieve but all it's appointed Archons are named after demons. As a metatextual reader this creates an immediate discrepancy between the "heavens" imploying "demons" to rule humanity. Furthermore, Venti calls Celestia's waters foul, its fruit bland. A front that looks all nice and shiny but is rotten at its core.
And while somehow the Traveler's Sibling was made part of the world and conversely is under the laws of Teyvat's existence, the Traveler themselves is not. They are an outsider unbound by the rules and affected differently than the inhabitants of this world.
And as they set out to find their Sibling (notably, GUIDED by Paimon whose irl mythological counterpart is also a King of Hell), they traverse the world and meet its Archons. Along the way they learn, consciously or not, what makes a "good life" and how the gods all try to enforce their ideals - their dreams. One after another, the gods, the lands, the world itself imparts their dreams of a good life upon the Traveler.
The kind but apathetic Traveler that from the beginning only ever cared for their lost Sibling, not for the world of Teyvat. The blank slate that continues on without a single dream of their own. This Fallen Star, who has traveled hundreds and thousands of worlds before, learns what it means to live and to care for the future of this world.
And so their journey slowly teaches them:
In Mondstadt, they learn of the importance of Freedom as one of humanity's highest ideals - thus always to tyrants. Deep down we're all meant to be free.
In Liyue, they learn that for society to function properly there needs to be a social contract between the people, the gods, nature itself. Because "even the wind cannot blow on forever." Freedom cannot exist without Order.
In Inazuma, they learn that linging to the past will only serve to make the world stagnant. Order is all well and good but trying to conserve the past will only prolong grief and suffering. Change is inevitable - the only thing to ever be eternal - and dreams the catalyst.
In Sumeru, they learn that history is written, it is malleable. But while it may sometimes is better to erase pieces to lead to a brighter future, you can't erase history to escape responsibility and accountability. To know ourselves and others well is the most difficult and meaningful work to do. Knowledge is a blessing and a burden - and we bear the responsibility to hold ourselves and others accountable for the actions and paths we choose.
And the Traveler's journey continues on, even as they suffer, have to learn how to handle their own emotions, and decide for themselves what they want the future to be. And they continue to learn until the day of their ascendancy...
When their wishes, their dreams, become strong enough to reach the False Heavens and the Starry Abyss.

"I have heard of such things"
“Please, your Majesty, I came in through a wardrobe.” “A wardrobe? What do you mean?” “I—I opened a door and just found myself here, your Majesty,” said Edmund. “Ha!” said the Queen, speaking more to herself than to him. “A door. A door from the world of men! I have heard of such things."
Thinking about this line from LWW (chapter 4). Jadis reacts to hearing Edmund came from another world by musing about rumors, even though she's from another world herself, and has in fact been to London (albeit briefly). Obviously the reason is because C. S. Lewis wrote LWW before MN and didn't care about super tight continuity, but that's no fun, so here are some in-universe possibilities:
it's been centuries since Jadis came to Narnia, and she's the type who ignores anything that isn't useful to her (e.g. ignoring Polly because Digory was the one that woke her, and then acting like neither child exists once they've brought her to Uncle Andrew). Charn is dead and she can't get back to Earth so she just…didn't bother to think about them ever again. By the time of LWW she can barely remember other worlds exist
Jadis barely knows other worlds exist, not because she didn't bother to remember, but because of some magical/physical reaction. Jadis has no memory of the Wood Between the Worlds once she's out of it, even though Polly and Digory do. Maybe Charnians just react that way to interdimensional travel, or maybe it's something specific to Jadis herself due to magic she's done. But whyever, Jadis forgets any world but the one she's in. The Wood fades almost instantly because she was there so briefly and has no personal connection to it. Earth would last a little longer, and Charn longer still, long enough that she can remember them during the end of MN. But by the time of LWW, she doesn't remember how she came to Narnia.
or she doesn't remember due to eating the silver apple? immortality comes with a price, and for better or worse Jadis is now bound to Narnia; she cannot go back
Telmar was founded by humans who stumbled through from Earth, and perhaps other places were as well (we don't know the histories of Galma etc). Or maybe solitary travelers find their way in sometimes, not enough to found nations or influence history but enough to leave rumors, rumors that Jadis is listening for very carefully because she knows four humans are prophesized to destroy her
Jadis doesn't mean a door as in "portal to another world" but door as in "hole in the magical barrier I've put up around Narnia", and thinks Edmund slipped in from another country. This would mean she doesn't understand the word "wardrobe" though. Then again Mr. Tumnus didn't know it either, so maybe they just don't have wardrobes in Narnia. (There's no absolutely no evidence in the books that Jadis made a barrier around Narnia, but there must be some sort of outer limit to her powers, or Archenland, Calormen, etc would also have been under her control, and they don't seem to have been. She was "Queen of Narnia", not "Queen of the World", and the countries mentioned in HHB all seem to be running normally without the sort of chaos caused by setting up governments again after a dictator's death. I can imagine Jadis making a magical line around Narnia's borders (with plans to expand, ofc) so her magic has a set space to focus on; maybe she can even sense when someone crosses it, which is why Edmund's arrival surprised her—he didn't trip any alarms.)
my favorite: Narnia herself is doing her best to fight Jadis. While the Pevensies are ruling Narnia, their lives on Earth become like a dream, and there are hints the reverse happens when they go back. But when they return to Narnia, "the air of Narnia [works] on" them to make them who Narnia needs them to be: the Kings and Queens of Old. Maybe it's working on Jadis, as best it can. It smoothes away her memories of other worlds, making her content to stay here, like it did the Pevensies. But for the Pevensies, it was a way to ease the pain of suddenly losing their old lives, whereas for Jadis, it's trying to keep her complacent. Because if she remembers there are other worlds, she'll try to find doors to them, and conquer kingdoms, and find more magic, and raise armies, and be that much harder to free Narnia from. Narnia is in pain and fighting Jadis the only way it can till Aslan and the Pevensies come to save it

Explanation time :D (forget my grammatical errors. I'm Spanish sooo)
Agent D: a problem for Night Swam because of his rebel actitud and the fact Agent D hates how Night Swam has treated some of the coaches (Jack Rose and Phoenix in this case, I have more people in my head =] ) She has a lot of connections with old coaches after helping many of them. The pilot is his best buddy and partner in crime. She knows how to pilot a plane thanks to him :D
Phoenix: Teenager with A LOT OF TRUST PROBLEMS, she had a friendship with Jack while working for Night Swam, but she had to break contact with him after Night Swam found out they were friends (Night Swam would ruin every friendship Jack had to maintain control over him). Because of her, Phoenix also developed a tendency to destroy everything she could and create caos.
Relation between both of them: Agent D met Phoenix when she still was a kid, but on the influence of Night Swam (no mental control), she tried to get her away of the witch but Phoenix had his reasons to not do it.
:D

OK BUT I’VE BEEN WATCHING BUDDY DADDIES RELIGIOUSLY—
and like, i just— just think about it—
Bruce, Clark and smol Dick
I imagine in this specific scenario Alfred is not there for whatever reason, OH! MAYBE he and Bruce had a fight bc ofc B would be super insistent that he’s a functional adult and he doesn’t need to be taken care of, so he’s been left to actually care for himself until he gets his head out of his ass.
So he’s there, pretending he’s not a twenty-something useless mess that can hardly deal with his company and Batman stuff, when tiny four year old Dickie is thrown into his lap (idk, through working on his parents case or smth i can’t think of anything rn) and he’s obviously panicking because how do you even take care of this pocket sized earthquake?
Enter Clark, Best-Friend-Who-Bruce’s-Definitively-Not-Pining-For, who initially just dropped by to help Bruce on a particularly rough day but is immediately smitten by Dickie because he’s just so adorable and a tiny ray of sunshine that Must Be Loved And Protected.
So ofc, Clark stays with them to help and they figure out how to raise him together bc neither of them actually have a clue of what to do with a toddler but they’re working on it together, and it would be just so domestic and fluffy, pining sprinkled in to season it well 🥺🥺🥺
I JUST NEED THAT OK??? JUST THEM!!!! They’re already Dick’s dads so this would be so amazing!!!
I need this in my life like I need oxygen to live
(Maybe later there’s a conflict bc obviously being superheroes -and Bruce being a public figure- means Dickie isn’t totally safe so there’s a moment they have to let him go for his own good but then realise they love him far too much and want to make it work so they get him back—)
(They don’t end up together bc they’re that particular brand of stupid and then Alfred comes back so Clark is considering leaving bc “they don’t need him anymore” and “Dick’s growing old enough now” but would you look at that, someone abandoned this other toddler and we can’t just not take him in, Clark, look at him.)
(Every time they’re about to separate ways because “the kids are growing up”, another child makes their way into the house, and of course Dick and Jason have absolutely nothing to do with that—)
(They get married after Jason for “tHe bOyS’ SaKe” but it takes until after Damian and Jon for them to finally get their shit together)
(They were already a sickeningly in love Old Married Couple but they insisted it was platonic)

I didn't post these yet?
So I don't like Gothitelle's design that much because A) it looks like Jynx (deragatory) and B) IT LOOKS LIKE JYNX (how many times do we need to teach you this lesson old Gamefreak)
I, and a few others I guess, just can't stand the bright red lips on an otherwise cool color design (Cyan eyes, Purple skin that is only there for the same reason Jynx is purple now). So I recolored the whole line:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Made them look like a shadow person because I think it makes slightly more sense that Gothitelle is this weird, otherworldly being and not just some psychic animal person (?).
I also made the bows/psychic feelers the same colors as the eyes because I think that shade of Cyan is really good and GF messed up by not having more of that in Gothitelle's design. Although it's not as goth anymore which is a net negative on my part.

[ford voice] after taking several samples of the water supply in gravity falls i have encountered an interesting anomaly. it appears as though there's some sort of chemical in the water that's turning frogs gay. i've never seen anything like it.

I swear to god I’m so bored
My next class doesn’t start for another 2 hours, and I usually leave about half an hour before, so I still have another hour and a half
I’ve done some amount of my school work, but I don’t have too much considering it’s the first week back. And frankly, there’s not much to do in my room
I would go out to the bookstore to get some Berserk manga, since I know they have it, but also the trip would take like an hour here and back, not to mention I’d have to walk there while my feet still hurt. And I’m in Texas where we’re sitting in at least the 90s, so I’d be tired and really sweaty, and I wouldn’t have that much longer to cool down before my next class. So I don’t plan on doing that right now
I’m nearly done with one other fankid design, I just asked my friend yesterday if the colors looked good and she hasn’t responded, so I haven’t gone farther with it, and I’m not thinking of any new ideas for other ones currently
I know there are things I could be doing, but I just don’t want to do them
So I’m just sitting here bored out of my mind
