fault lines
1. be me for a minute, a real me - my mind looks like the walk home from school,  pull bristles off of the stalks of spiky purple plants cross the street under a sky too bright to be real the wind a better noise than the music in the background (it lures me into the street with its violins and murmurings, tells me dance, tells me nothing but the inside of my mind it is just my mind given quiet be me it says be dead &)
2. & what really am i - i  don’t know anymore they say i am a writer a student blunt and thoughtful  in the way only a teenager who is adept at hiding in the runhidedefend drills can be  and its a half truth (because -) now there are others spinning out worlds upon worlds dancing in the cosmos like i once was but now all the beautiful words i can force out of my prickly shrunken mind are pictures of the moon (a blur of a dot in the sky it is supposed to be glimmering it is not supposed to be that shade of white) -
and on the walk home there are poems in my backpack burning their way through my folders   -(look, she’s haunted;  can’t feel the green paper with my disconnect from culture through the history textbook in the way    ;(think of your own i cannot i can’t-
3. haven’t felt attached to anything in a while except that’s a lie nowadays most things i say are incoherent and rambling again thoughts scattered and commas forgotten my english teacher would hate me i know she would  wouldn’t know it was me because the things i submit are easy and powerful and different from the girl doodling shapes all over her paper  can’t link that to me can’t link this to me  another lie in of itself i exist i exist i exist    ;in a world completely disconnected from this one
4. i need to go now i have gone back to this deep yawning pit called a home homethatisnotahome because this house is a car full of anger  spilling over through the open windows onto the freeway  all the people that should make up a home (4.5 tick off on your fingers mother father brother) they are in this car with me watch as i turn into an empty sidewalk of prickly plants and annoyance and i slam the car door and whisper insults behind my mask i am so tired of this family i am so tired please get me out
5. are you still me  because if you are i apologize

Also wanted to come out and say I agree with you on his work. Not the best he's done. And don't get me started on 'too sweet' being thrown into every fucking thing rn. Idk I also feel like a snob when I talk like this but like music can be so personal and when ur artist blows up and suddenly every ones on the bandwagon now you feel a way.
ah, yeah - I started listening to him when I discovered arsonist's lullaby and cherry wine, and only once I downloaded that album to check out the rest of the songs I heard take me to church for the first time, and then it started to be on the polish radio a lot. and with take me to church I didn't mind - I was glad for the popularity, the exposure, I was so happy to hear him on the radio, even if it was just that one single.
and then as he got more popular somehow most of the fans started giving him this cringe badge of a mythical magical forest demigod daddy, and it just... not only was it annoying and inaccurate but also so wildly offensive to the musicians that inspired him originally. it simultaneously discounted his personal and intimate approach with poetry and irish folklore notes woven in as well as the drive and accomplishments of iconic black musicians.
and I absolutely loved this mythical and folk part of his music, don't get me wrong - I mean, it takes one look at my blog - but equating all of his work just to that was so shallow. and also made me have that snob-like moment of, hey, I don't think you actually know his music if you think that's the extent of it.
too sweet had that original hozier album feel for me - you know, a bit rougher, less folk, lyrically playful instead of poetic. hopefully he'll make more music in that style again, and hopefully the tiktok and ig reels hype will die down soon so I can listen to it again.

Synopsis: The members of Greta Van Fleet agree to do an interview with the Human Napkin himself, Nardwuar, and find themselves ridiculously unprepared for his interview style.
Words: 2k
Warnings: language, some sexual innuendos (kinda?), mentions of stalking, the void™️
Notes: Shoutout to @skywaydrifter for the amazing fic idea, and sending me down a wild Nardwuar binge-fest
----------------------------------------------
Nardwuar theme plays with the animated intro video. The shot opens to show NARDWUAR standing in front of an impressive display of vinyl records, next to JOSH KISZKA.
NARDWUAR: How are you?
Nardwuar shoves his microphone into Josh’s face. Josh flinches back a bit, but then leans into the microphone.
JOSH: Absolutely groovy.
NARDWUAR: Tell me who you are.
JOSH: That’s a bit of a loaded question. I’m a dreamer, a mere mortal, a man with a dream…
NARDWUAR: Your name.
JOSH: Oh. Josh Kiszka. Frontman for the group, Greta Van Fleet.
Josh curtsies to the camera.
NARDWUAR: Welcome to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. And right off the bat, I have a gift for ya.
JOSH puts a hand over his heart and looks at the camera in shock.
JOSH: Now I feel bad, I didn’t bring you anything.
NARDWUAR (continued): I’ve got this 1966 album, All About Miriam.
JOSH: (taking the album and cradling it in his arms) Oh my goodness.
NARDWUAR: I heard that you’re a fan.
JOSH: Miriam Makeba? Oh yeah, she’s one of my favorites. My parents had a few of her albums that they would play all the time when I was younger. She’s got such a rich voice, I can only dream of sounding like that.
NARDWUAR: But you do have a pretty distinct voice that I’m sure a lot of people are jealous of. How did you find that sound?
JOSH: I started screaming and then I guess I kind of found my way, eventually. (chuckles) No, but actually, my vocal coach, Ron, I call him “The Master” because he genuinely saved my vocal cords. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
NARDWUAR: How do you do it? Is it special vocal warmups? Some kind of mystery technique?
JOSH: Well, you see, if I told you, I’d have to kill you.
NARDWUAR: I’ve got another gift for you here, Josh.
JOSH: Oh god, now I feel super bad.
NARDWUAR: Costumes are a big part of your stage presence. Here, I’ve got a piece that might look familiar to you.
Nardwuar holds out Josh’s infamous golden pants, and Josh reluctantly takes them.
JOSH: Oh boy, I forgot how shiny and see through these were.
NARDWUAR: You wore these in the sweltering sun on the iHeart Radio festival stage in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 22, 2018, didn’t you?
JOSH: I’m not sure if these are the exact pair…
NARDWUAR: They are.
JOSH: Huh? Did you dig them out of the dumpster or something?
NARDWUAR: Now, Josh, can you tell me about Sean Reyes?
Josh looks at Nardwuar with intense skepticism.
JAKE: (offscreen) What the fuck?
JOSH: Now how do you know about Sean Reyes?
NARDWUAR: It’s Josh Kiszka trivia!
Josh squints at Nardwuar, uncertain.
JOSH: Sean Reyes was my third grade teacher.
NARDWUAR: And he was the one who encouraged you to write poetry, right?
JOSH: Yes…..
NARDWUAR: Like haikus?
JOSH: Mr. Reyes would play a lot of folk stuff for us, like John Denver, Joni Mitchell, all the classics, and he could tell I really dug it. He pulled me aside after class, showed me some of his favorite lyrics, and explained how it was a form of poetry. I took that to heart and spent a lot of time outside of class writing poems after that.
NARDWUAR: Were they any good?
JOSH: Well, some lines ended up in our songs, so you tell me.
NARDWUAR: Well, I heard your twin brother behind the camera just now. Let’s bring him out here. Come here, Jake!
JAKE joins Josh’s side in front of the camera, looking nervous. He’s wringing his hands, avoiding eye contact with Nardwuar.
NARDWUAR: Hello, Jake.
JAKE: (short) Hi.
NARDWUAR: I have a gift for you.
JAKE: Uh, okay.
NARDWUAR: It’s a poster from H.O.R.D.E. Festival at Deer Creek Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana featuring big names like Blues Traveler, The Black Crowes, and Taj Mahal from 1995. Something important happened at this festival, right?
Jake pales.
JAKE: Uh. Uh.
Josh is staring pretty hard at Nardwuar.
JAKE: (to Josh) There’s no way he knows about that. How could he know about that?
Nardwuar sneaks the microphone closer into Jake’s mouth.
NARDWUAR: Well?
JAKE: Okay, uh, they might kill me for admitting this on camera, but my parents are pretty sure that’s where Josh and I were conceived.
NARDWUAR: Do you like Taj Mahal?
Jake struggles to rebound from that 180.
JAKE: Um (beat) yeah. I’d list him as a big influence.
NARDWUAR: And another gift for Jake Kiszka!
JAKE: (whispering to Josh) This guy freaks me out.
NARDWUAR: Here you go!
Nardwuar tosses Jake a ziploc bag containing something brown. Jake’s reflexes get the better of him and he grabs the bag out of the air, and then blankly studies what’s in his hands.
JAKE: What the actual fuck.
NARDWUAR: Tell me what you’re holding there!
JAKE: Hair. It’s my hair.
JOSH: What??
JAKE: I’m not even joking. This is what they chopped off, like, last year before our second leg of the Dreams in Gold Tour.
JOSH: (growing defensive of his brother) Where did you get that from?
NARDWUAR: What was the reason for the big chop?
JAKE: I could have sworn my hairdresser said she was going to donate that.
NARDWUAR: Oh, she did.
JAKE: I’m sorry, what?
SAM bounds into the scene in front of the camera, looking energetic.
SAM: This is fun! Do me now!
NARDWUAR: Sam Kiszka! Alright, Jake. Thanks and doot doola doot doo…
JAKE: Huh?
NARDWUAR: (finishing for Jake) Doo doo! (turns to Sam) I have a question for you.
Sam is hopping from foot to foot and clapping his hands with glee while Jake confusedly wanders off camera.
SAM: Fire away!
NARDWUAR: Your aunt works at State Farm in Chicago.
DANNY: (offscreen) That’s not a question.
JOSH: How could you possibly know that?
NARDWUAR: Have you ever had to file a claim with her?
SAM: Well, actually one time…
JOSH: Ssh! Don’t tell him anything.
NARDWUAR: (entirely unbothered) I have a gift you might like, Sam!
SAM: Oh my god! You guys aren’t gonna believe this. It’s my birth certificate!
JOSH: What kind of interviewer are you??
NARDWUAR: I’m just a fan, guys, just a fan. I love your music!
Sam’s phone rings.
SAM: Whoops, sorry. I know this is unprofessional but, one sec. I gotta take this.
Instead of going off camera to answer the phone in private like a normal person, Sam answers the phone and puts it on speaker.
SAM (continued): Y’ello?
KAREN: (obviously shaken) Sam?
SAM: Hey Mom, what’s up?
KAREN: Are you boys alright?
Josh grabs the phone from Sam.
JOSH: Mom? What’s going on?
KAREN: Someone broke into our house while your dad and I were on our trip. We’re worried it might have been a stalker since they took a lot of your possessions and some important documents.
JOSH: Oh my god, are you okay?
KAREN: Fine, just a bit shaken up. But, I’m so sorry, they stole Sammy’s birth certificate.
Sam calls into the phone over Josh’s shoulder.
SAM: Don’t worry about it, Mom! I just got it gifted back to me!
Josh hands Sam his phone and rushes away.
JOSH: (screaming offscreen) RICHARD! WE NEED BACKUP!
KAREN: I’m gonna have to call my sister to file a claim. They broke a crazy amount of our windows. Like, way more than they needed to. What a headache.
DANNY: (to Nardwuar) You have a lot of explaining to do.
NARDWUAR: I’ve got a gift for you, Daniel!
Nardwuar pulls out a pack of old Beatles cards.
DANNY: I don’t want it.
NARDWUAR: It’s a pack of 1964 Beatles collector’s cards, in mint condition!
DANNY: Wait, I do want it.
Danny takes the cards from Nardwuar and looks at them with delight.
NARDWUAR: You’re a big fan of the Beatles, right?
DANNY: Oh yeah, I always have been.
JAKE: You’re not seriously continuing this interview.
DANNY: (while opening and flipping through the pack of cards) I mean, this is a pretty cool gift.
JAKE: (evidently at his wit’s end) This guy 100% broke into my family’s house, and he for sure did the same to your parents.
NARDWUAR: Would you say there was a specific Beatles album that most inspired you?
DANNY: Definitely Rubber Soul. I loved hearing them try folk.
Jake throws up his hands in exasperation.
DANNY: Norwegian Wood genuinely changed my life.
NARDWUAR: In what way?
JAKE: Nope, we’re not doing this anymore.
Jake thrusts his finger up into Nardwuar’s face.
JAKE (continued): What else did you take from us, you son of a bitch?
NARDWUAR: Does it count as “taking” if I give it back to you?
JAKE: Yes!
NARDWUAR: I’d beg to differ.
DANNY: (looking through his cards) Woah! I’ve never seen this photo of Ringo Starr before!
Josh comes rushing back to the scene with their bodyguard and pal, RICHARD.
RICHARD: (scanning around on full alert) Where is he?
JOSH: (shrill, pointing at Nardwuar) There!
Nardwuar simply grins at Richard.
NARDWUAR: Can you tell me about Grubbyknot?
Richard is obviously thrown off, and he lets down his guard.
RICHARD: Huh? Grubbyknot? That was my metal band in high school. But we only played like two shows. One was in my parent’s garage.
JOSH: Don’t let him get into your head, Richard! You’re our big guns, we can’t lose you!
SAM: Do you have another gift for me, Nardwuar?
Nardwuar stares at Sam, entirely expressionless.
NARDWUAR: No, I don’t. Doot doola doot doo…
SAM: Doo-doo?
Upon Sam’s words, he vanishes into thin air. Jake is so terrified, he falls to the ground and cowers on the floor.
JAKE: Jesus Christ!
NARDWUAR: I usually like to speak with only 1-2 people at a time on camera. It’s getting a little bit too crowded for me right now.
Nardwuar looks at Danny, whose attention is finally away from his cards, and is gawking at the empty space where Sam was just standing.
NARDWUAR: (continued, making eye contact with Danny) Doot doola doot doo…
Danny stares back at Nardwuar in horror, his mouth sealed shut. Nardwuar sings the little tune again, holding his microphone up to Danny to finish it.
JAKE: (cutting in) Doo doo! (beat) Fuck!
Jake disappears.
JOSH: (explaining to Richard and Danny) He has this condition where he can’t handle hearing an unfinished tune. Poor guy has a curse.
NARDWUAR: Just one more to go.
Nardwuar focuses his attention back to Danny.
DANNY: Where did you send them?
NARDWUAR: To another place.
DANNY: Super helpful, thanks.
NARDWUAR: Don’t mention it.
DANNY: Are they still alive?
NARDWUAR: I can’t see why not. I’m a fan! I wouldn’t hurt you guys.
Danny sighs.
DANNY: Okay. Send me away so I can do some damage control.
RICHARD: No!
NARDWUAR: Doot doola doot doo…
DANNY: (unenthused, clapping his hands on the beat) Doo doo.
Danny is gone.
RICHARD: My boss is gonna kill me.
JOSH: I’m pretty sure I’m your boss.
Richard widens his eyes and holds his hands up in a defensive position, backing slowly away from Josh.
JOSH (continued): Oh, come on. I’m not gonna hurt you, Richard.
RICHARD: You did dump an entire bag of flour over my head that one time. And kicked that giant chocolate bar in my hands. And swung a folding chair at me backstage.
JOSH: All tiny, insignificant hiccups.
NARDWUAR: Josh, you’re gonna love this next thing that I’ve got for you.
JOSH: Please, no.
Nardwuar hands Josh a Scooby Doo plushie.
NARDWUAR: Tell me what that is.
Josh studies the stuffed animal, trying to discern how it has any relevance to him.
JOSH: Scooby Doo?
NARDUWAR: What was that second word?
JOSH: Doo?
NARDWUAR: Wait. Say it again? (under his breath) Doot doola doot doo…
JOSH: Doo?
Nardwuar taps on his ear, signaling that he didn’t hear Josh. Josh huffs and rolls his eyes.
JOSH (continued, enunciating maybe a little bit too much): Doo!
Josh disappears.
NARDWUAR: Well, this has been fun. Keep on rockin’ in the free world and doot doola doot doo…
It’s silent around him since there’s no one there to finish his jingle. Nardwuar continues to grin wider and wider until he’s nearing uncomfortably close to uncanny valley.
The scene shifts to a confusing plane seemingly everywhere and nowhere at once. A pattern reminiscent of Nardwuar’s red and green plaid Tammy cap stretches from the floor to the sky. Josh and Richard appear in the mysterious space, Josh screaming with terror.
JAKE: Hey.
DANNY: Nice of you to join us.
It takes a while for Josh to collect himself but, when he does, he notices Jake and Danny standing in front of him.
JOSH: Where’s Sammy?
DANNY: He went to take a piss.
RICHARD: Hey, wait, I didn’t say the doo doo thing. Why am I here?
Josh shrugs.
JOSH: We must be a package deal or something.
RICHARD: That’s wildly unfair.
SAM: (off in the distance) Woah, I had a lot more in my bladder than I thought. I wouldn’t come over here if I were you, guys. I can cross “building a manmade lake” off my bucket list.
JAKE: God, I need to get out of here.
DANNY: And how are we gonna do that, Jake?
Jake has no clue. He’s frankly dumbfounded.
The scene jumps back to Nardwuar, still in front of the records. He seems unaware that the camera is still rolling.
NARDWUAR: (to someone offscreen) Yeah, yeah. They should be gone for good. Yup. The plaid void, where I sent Dave Rowntree. We should be good to steal their identities now. God knows we’ve done enough research.
Back in the plaid void.
DANNY: Holy shit, is that Dave Rowntree?
RICHARD: The guy from Blur?
DAVE ROWNTREE: CURSE YE FOUL BEAST, NARDWUAR!
Fin.
Note: The names/facts listed in the interview within this fic are all entirely fictitious. I'm not about to start leaking private and personal information about the guys.

They start a summer fling that unfortunately had to come to end, but an unexpected turn of events will bring them back together.
Genre: 1950s au, angst, fluff, some smut, Greaser!Yoongi x Square/Goody-Two-Shoes!OC.
TW: underage drinking and smoking, sexual content, violence, misogyny (it’s the 1950s so peak macho man era).
Word Count: 1.3k+
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the T-birds were trying to encourage their leader to call for his girl. But what would Yoongi even say? "I'm sorry for lying to you, but I wanted to protect my reputation as a greaser and player?" He knew she wouldn’t take him seriously.
"Come on hyung, didn't you wanna talk to her?" Namjoon asked him.
"You know what, I changed my mind, this was a dumb idea."
"Well then how about you call for her Jiminie?" Hoseok giggled, taking a swig from his beer. And the youngest wasted no time, getting up on the seat and reciting what he could remember from his drama class a few years back.
"Oh, Lottie, wherefore art thou Lo-" he was interrupted by Yoongi punching and slapping him, eventually pulling on his jacket so he would sit down.
Kim and Nayeon went up to the window. "Is it the guys?" Jiyoon asked, "it is! They can't come up here, my folks would kill me if I had any boys up in my room," Nayeon said.
"Hey Joon!" Kim greeted the second in command flirtatiously. "Hey! You wanna get down here?!" He asked her.
"Sure, but get rid of all your friends," she smiled, seeing the cat-eyed boy there, she wanted to rub a little salt on the wound, Lottie didn’t like her anyway, "that includes you Min!" She called for him.
He chuckled sarcastically, "good, sloppy seconds ain't my style," he yelled back. Hearing Yoongi's voice made Lottie's heart skip a beat, and gosh she hated herself for that. Kim, on the other hand felt a bit offended, did she sleep around? Maybe, but she wasn't sloppy seconds.
"So, what are you goin' to do flog your log?"
"I've done worse," he deadpanned, getting out of the car to walk home, "have fun, Namjoonah," he patted his best friend's shoulder and walked away. The aforementioned nodded and looked back up at the window where his girl was. "I'm still here!"
And as much as Kim felt bitter, she decided getting Yoongi's attention was the dumbest thing she could, she had guys lining up, begging for chance, she wasn't going to let herself be held back by anyone, Yoongi could keep the goody two shoes foreigner if he wanted to. She walked away from the window and walked to the chair where she had set down her stuff.
"You lot are too square for my taste," she said, putting on her shorts and shoes, "I'm gonna go get my kicks on while I still can," she took a quick look in the mirror and fixed her hair quickly.
"What are you gonna do?" Nayeon took a hold of Kim's arm, "Shimmy down the drain pipe?"
Kim smirked, not bothering to reply as she carefully made her way down said drain pipe to Nayeon's horror, she watched her friend get in the car with Namjoon, Kim gave one more glance at the window where she saw her friend had already disappeared into the house.
Namjoon began driving off, his right arm resting behind Kim’s shoulders, the aforementioned stole a couple of glances at the handsome young man, a smirk adorning his face. Through the years, Kim had always kept an eye on Namjoon, even before both groups had risen through the ranks, he had always been an intriguing case, she had caught him more than once reading poetry books, or the occasional sea creature encyclopedias. Namjoon on the other hand, hadn’t really paid any mind to Kim until this summer, after Yoongi had broken things off with her, they had a short little fling, and afterwards would still flirtatious glances, and compliments, he couldn’t have been happier when his best friend had told him to have fun, an indirect greenlight for him to go after Kim.
Once they got to lover’s lane, it didn’t take long for them to talk a bit more, discussing things they usually wouldn’t with their friends, until they started what the place was most frequented for, necking. The pretty view of Seoul long forgotten as Namjoon trailed kissed up and down Kim’s neck, the latter huffing and letting small moans come out of her. Hands trailed other places, the intentions behind what they were going to be doing more and more clear.
“God Kim, you are so good baby,” Namjoon groaned after she had been sucking along his neck while calming him through his jeans.
“Call me by my first name,” she requested.
“Um…” Namjoon drew a blank as he continued kissing her neck. How had her name not come up in conversation, wasn't Kim her first name? People called her that so much it was easy to assume it was.
“Jennie,” she pushed him off momentarily, a bit flushed from embarrassment and a lot from what they were doing prior to this kerfuffle.
“Jennie-ah” he said softly as he went back to attacking her neck, the way he said her name made Kim feel a fluttering in her stomach, he made it sound like a beautiful secret.
“Hey baby, you got something?” She sighed, not needing or wanting any ankle biters right now. Namjoon chuckled, moving away slightly so that he could dig in his back pocket.
“My 10 cent insurance policy,” he said as he pulled out the foil packet, starting to tear it open so they could get on with it, “Ooo, a big spender huh?” Jennie giggled as she stretched, grateful that they had moved to the back seat once their make out got more heated.
Namjoon, however, looked like a kid who had their candy taken away, he looked up to Jennie and her little smile dropped, “it broke.”
“What?! What'd ya mean it broke?” She asked in disbelief.
Namjoon sheepishly chuckled as he rubbed his neck, “I bought it in the 7th grade, when we first got that lesson on diseases?” He explained, “but I never used it because my older brother told me pulling out is better.”
“Jeez, then I'm shocked you ain't got a little one by now,” she said slightly annoyed, she had really wanted for this to happen.
Even if she known as someone “fast” she had always been safe, since there wasn't a way for her to protect herself, she made sure her lovers could, and now that was out of the question. The thing was… Namjoon was different, she'd known him forever! He was something she wanted and she wanted him bad.
“What the hell,” she got right back into necking, it took Namjoon a second to react, surprised at first, but he kissed her back in no time, this will happen she told herself; Namjoon had started to unbutton her plum colored blouse when the car was hit.
Needless to say Namjoon was pissed.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” He turned and yelled, finding Jaebeom in the driver's seat and Jackson in the back, both of their chicks sitting next to them.
“You need to learn how to read Namjoon-ah, that right there says no parking zone,” Jaebeom chuckled in a condescending tone.
“The whole place is a no parking-zone you damn nosebleed.” Namjoon's jaw was locked, and Kim could see his tongue against his cheek, “You're gonna pay me back for this!” His back bumper was loose and his rear light glass broken.
Jackson and Jaebeom looked at each other and laughed. “We'll give 10 cents for the entire thing, including your chick,” Jackson winked at Kim before they drove off, laughing loudly at the couple. Namjoon looked even angrier, and if she hadn't been insulted just then, she's sure we would've flipped her lid and came just from the sight alone.
After a minute or two of Namjoon huffing and puffing, Kim decided she still wanted her world rocked, “I don't know ‘bout you, but my motor's still runnin’” she smirked, and they got right back to it.

Okay, so you all know I did Brozone Headcanon of a Vietnamese troll speaker and give you a little bit of its history so I’ll be extending on it a bit more just because I love to share my culture with other people I don’t think I appreciate my culture enough because I live in the state
—————————
Okay, again I was saying that there is a tribe in the trolls village so far away that no trolls has ever heard of it not even Queen Barb or
Queen Poppy has ever heard of them.
They are known as the V-pop trolls (Vietnamese pop trolls) but there's not just pop Vietnamese trolls there's also Vietnamese music genres that the trolls lived in V-pop village with the Viet pop trolls.. let me explain…
(Also this is just my Oc headcanon I did do my fullest research on this if you still want to learn more fill free to look them up)
—————————
You have the Vietnamese Folk Music Trolls: They are extremely diverse just like the folk music trolls they can be classified by their melodies, instrument and much more
Then you have your Ca trù trolls: They are a popular folk music which have begun with a female (troll) singer who is charmed her enemy with her voice and they are also known as hát co đầu or hát nói their music is through storytelling and it comes from Northern part of V-pop village
The Chấu Văn Trolls: They also came from the northern part of V-pop village they are also a traditional folk music which combines with both singing and dancing their music are super poetry and they are combine with variety of instruments, rhythm, pauses and tempos
Ah Floyd’s favorite The cải lượng Trolls: they are a reformed theater is a form of modern folk opera in V-pop village they are blended together with classical music and modern spoke drama and did I mention they can be emotional 🥹 and they are from the southern Vietnamese folk music
Thế Quan họ trolls: They are also Vietnamese folk style music and is characterized by antiphonal nature with alternating groups of females (Trolls) and male (Trolls) singers issuing musical challenges and responses
Then you have the almost well known genres the V-pop just like K-pop Trolls: They are a abbreviation of Vietnamese pop music which it was from the 1990’s to present day many young trolls would listen to V-pop also their songs are in Vietnamese like rap and much more…
Than you have the Nhạc do Trolls: They are “called the red music” is kinda similar to V-pop but their music began soon after the beginning of the 20th century during the French colonial period their music is kinda upbeat (at least that what I think I only listen to it once)
—————-
So I have talked a little bit about the Vietnamese instrument so I decided to write down what instrument I think brozone + poppy & Viva would played…
—————
John Dory:
I could see him playing the đàn đày basically is a plucked lute with 3 strings with a trapezoid wooden body and a very long wooden neck w 10 rised frets
He could also Played the Dan Nguyen is a two-string southern guitar
Bruce:
I can see him playing both the Bamboo Flute and a Dan Ty La which is a Vietnamese traditional orchestra is a pear shaped like instrument which has twisted strings
Clay:
Although there’s plenty of Vietnamese traditional instruments I would see clay killing it at the đàn Tam thập lục it looks like a piano but no is a hammered dulcimer w 36 metal strings and it used in various Vietnamese music genres and drama as-well this instrument is similar to the Chinese version which is called a Yangqin
Floyd:
Being in his sensitive nature side he would crushed it at đàn bầu is a Vietnamese string instrument from the monochord zither is sounds so beautiful and calming it sometimes makes Floyd shed a tear of how smooth it sounds he would also play the bamboo flute
Branch:
That troll can play all sort of instrument but I personally think he would be good at playing the Zither it’s similar to the Dan bầu so any Vietnamese instrument you throw at him he can play it
Poppy:
She would be good at playing the Dan Ty la and also she could play the K’ni but she mostly loves to play the Dan Ty la b/c of how good it sounds
Viva:
She and clay would played the Dan tam thap luc together on their free time and she could also played the Dan bau and she’s learning how to play the Dan day
———————
V-POP trolls diets?
So many people would think we eat rice and fish and pho well there’s much more to just those stereotypes so is safe to assume their diets vary from different regions of V-pop village…
——————
Anyways there’s so much more I would like to talk about but is for another time anyways I hope you at least have some content of my oc headcanon I’ll probably talk about the fashion, Brozone +poppy and viva favorite Vietnamese food and the holiday they celebrate…

If you look at the word NATURE, you'll find A R T in it :)
Hi folks,
This weeks lecture notes and readings was definitely my favourite so far. For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to the arts, participating in painting, drawing and music (on and off) my whole life. When I got older, I started to appreciate the beauty of nature and connected it to my painting. My grandmother was a great inspiration throughout this journey, she had a great eye for art and would always take me up on my offer to paint. This was also the first time I noticed how two people can look at the same landscape and see completely different things. I remember sitting beside a river with my grandmother, we were painting with watercolour. At one point I looked away from my canvas to see hers and was, honestly, a little confused. When I looked at the river, I had focused my painting on the waterfall, and the waters descent over the rocks. But hers was different, hers was of the entire landscape, the river was only a small part of it. We were looking at the same scene but were interpreting it in different ways. Neither was wrong, neither was right either, it was simply how we saw it.
When looking at the question posed to us this week, I honestly had no idea was the first part meant, and there's a good chance I might still be confused. "Who are you to interpret nature through art?". It seems to me like an intimidating question, and trying to come up with a definitive answer, that I could simply state, escaped me. I interpret nature through art because I am human and because I can. I interpret nature through art because I resonate with the idea that "people perceive natural resources and artistic values emotionally as well as intellectually" (Hooykaas, 2023). When looking at a natural setting, I feel the urge to sit for a moment and appreciate the beauty. I also, usually, want to take out my phone and capture the scene, so I can continue to appreciate it.
When it comes to interpreting "the gift of beauty" I have always gravitated to painting. I enjoy painting scenes that I have taken pictures of, moving them from screen to canvas, and reminiscing in the memory. Using art as a tool to help convey a message allows us to create richer experiences for those we are sharing it with (Wheeler, 2016). For example, when I go to visit my grandmother I tell her about my life and what I've been up to, and on many occasions I will have painted a recent memory from where I've been, and I can tell her "I was up at the cottage and there was the most beautiful sunset", but the addition of me showing her the scene as I remember it makes the connection so much more meaningful.
Tumblr media
In chapter 10 of our textbook we were given a debrief of the main types of art; interpretive theater, storytelling and poetry, music, dance and the visual arts (Beck et al., 2018). Not everyone will react the same way to each of these mediums, but they are all effective tools in interpreting nature to the general public. I find music, visual arts and poetry the most effective, but someone else might disagree. It's all in the eye of the beholder, which is why it’s so important for us as interpreters to ensure we offer as many as possible. I've done activities with students where we go out on a walk and at some point stop and everyone has to draw something they see around them. This makes them stop and think about where they are and what they’re seeing. Most of the time, they will pick something that stands out to them or something they think is cool or beautiful. Just by doing a simple activity like that, a connection is bridged between the student and their environment.
My family has several The Group of Seven paintings in our home, my parents always loved the appreciation of art. I love the paintings because they are all done very simply, the style is almost gentle and it is calming to look at. The painting are also very important, not everyone has the ability to venture out into the natural world to appreciate those scenes first hand. However, galleries are accessible to almost everyone and they are everywhere. Someone can look at a mountain first hand, capture the moment on paper, interpreting it how they see it, and then share it with those who can't go themselves. In this way, we are in our simplest human form, seeing something beautiful, appreciating it, and acting on the urge to share it with others.
-All for now!

What are ur favorite mangas?? Love ur art btw🫶🏻
Sorry for the long reply, here it is. I'm pretty sure I have left out a lot of other manga, I can't remember the others I used to read… I'll update this list once I figure it out.. In the meantime, enjoy this collection:
Aku No Hana/Flower Of Evil/The Flowers Of Evil - Psychological/Drama, about a young man who constantly reads this foreign poetry book called, Les Fleurs du mal by Charle's Baudelaire. From the get go, you're introduced to him having an ego and looks down on others for not being in the same realm of intellect for not understanding the book he is into. The main character wants to stand out, but even he does not understand it himself.
He attaches himself to his classmate, Nanako, the top of her class. Because of her displayed intellect and proficiency in english, Takao assumes she is also different and would understand where he is coming from, placing her in a pedestal, the same way as she places him in the same light also. When his crush left her gym wear in the classroom, he decides to snoop in and wear it. Letting his perverted degeneracy take hold of his thoughts before getting found out by his classmate, Sawa, and all hell breaks lose. He is blackmailed and forced to do her bidding from here on out.
It may not seem like it as first glance but this is a love story that's not meant to be, two people who understand one another but they harm others around them in the process. The three characters that you'll be following are complex that it's hard to label them as this one thing, especially Sawa. You will have no clue what she's thinking, what she wants to do and what she's trying to say, and before you know it, you're just like the main character, wondering about her constantly.
It has an anime, but it's not well received due to it's unusual style which is rotoscoping rather than the usual anime style, but if you can't stomach the long pauses and the drag it brings I would suggest watching the live action instead.
Bradherley No Basha/Bradherley's Carriage/Bradherley's Coach - Historical/Tragedy, taking place around the 1800's, an aristocrat goes around in various orphanages to adopt young girls and train them to join his opera troupe. But upon coming with him, they make the discovery that the man's real intention is not to give them a good life..
It is a oneshot with a plot that must be pieced together to make a coherent storyline, each girl in question has their own story to tell and it is a depressing read, filled with mature subject matter so be warned if you're not good with such things. To me personally, this stuck with me and has taken my interest ever since.
Chi No Wadachi/Trail Of Blood - Or Blood on the tracks.. Psychological/Horror, it's about a mother and her son. One day, during a family gathering to the mountains, an incident happened in regards to the cousin and only Seichi and his mother, Seiko, knew of what actually happened. Throughout this entire manga, the young boy faces psychological torment through his mother and the certain day replays on his mind constantly..
What's great about this is that it let's you figure out what the characters are thinking, especially Seiko, who is the most mysterious character of this manga. There are also times where you're taken out of Seichi's perspective and left to observe his expressions and wonder what's going through his head. You're always left feeling dread because there's no way of knowing what's going to happen.
Collapse of the World as We Know It - Psychological/Horror, a collection of short stories. I'm not going to list it all here so if you wanna know what these stories are, go read it. It has marked it's place in my memory.
Daija Ni Totsudai Musume/The Great Daija's Bride/The Great Serpents Bride - Drama/Supernatural/Romance, written similarly to a folk story, this is about a human girl named Miyo who was given as a sacrifice to the lord of the mountain, Daija. And them learning to live together, they eventually fall in love and start a family. Yes, he is a large talking snake and no he will never become a humanoid. Yes, there are a lot of sex scenes between them lol but that's not the point.
This manga has a lot of plot twists and interesting characters, and deals with heavy subject matter like rape and abuse to gray morals in regards to Daija's relationship with the people who are worshipping him. It is befitting the atmosphere of that era and it feels like someone is writing their own folk story. This is a recent manga I am reading and it clearly stands out to other romance manga out there.
Inuyashiki - Science fiction/Thriller, an old man, down on his luck upon learning he has cancer and coming home to a cold family who could care less, decides to walk his dog to a park one night till he encounters a strange light in the sky and hits him. He was then transformed into this cyborg with powers capable of doing anything, while a young man who happens to be walking the same park was also hit and turned into one. The two of them will choose different paths and use their now owned powers for their own reasons.
Kimi Ni Aisarete Itakatta/I Want To Be Hurt By Love - Psychological/Drama, written by a disturbed loli doujin artist turned mangaka, good for her. It is about this girl named Kanae Kanai who is trying to be part of this group that's composed of the popular girls in the class just so she can say that she's needed and part of something. But she finds it hard to relate and go along with them, constantly needing to be reassured in her position within the group till she meets and catches the attention of the popular guy that they invited from another school named Hiroshi.
The story is dark as you would imagine, there is bullying, revenge, abuse of various degree, sexual content, etc. And I know, a lot of people who read this will say that it is over the top but I digress because the things happening and the actions she is doing is reasonable and will reach to that extent if you were ever in her shoes.. People complained that she's unlikeable and horrible when that's the point. You're not supposed to relate, you're suppose to try and understand why she is thinking in this manner.
When she told Hiroshi to quit his dreams to play, you'd say you're stupid and crazy for suggesting that when in her case, that is a perfectly reasonable thing to do because that's all she does in her life. Kanae runs from her problems and when something as a little inconvenience doesn't go her way, she instantly goes to find something to dissociate herself from that problem.
If you've seen the doujins this author makes… Man, she knows how to make a scary scene. She's really using her experiences that she went through. And when I saw those two familiar characters from her doujin make an appearance my heart sank so hard I thought I was gonna have an heart attack. Also, the english title should've been "I want you to love me like it hurts".
Koko wa Ima kara Rinri Desu/From Now On, we Begin Ethics - Drama, an episodic manga featuring a teacher teaching students about ethics. It tackles different subjects and finishes them around a chapter or two, the students are not the normal characters that you should invest for a very long time as he teaches new characters and the years pass by as well, you'd also see them having character development even after their sole chapter ends. But let it be known that it centers towards only the teacher and the mystery surrounding him and why he even wants to teach it in the first place.
The students may or may no change and do not suddenly have a change of heart nor change their opinions about their beliefs, even some of the students I hate are unlikeable and my stance on them will remain that way but the point of the manga is that these are people and people do not change willy nilly. If you like such a concept then experience it for yourself. The english title should've been "Here, we will study ethics."
Made in Abyss - Dark Fantasy/Adventure, takes place in a fantasy world called Orth, a mining town surrounding a large hole that's deep within the earth itself. No one knows how deep it is exactly besides the map that has last been documented is around the 7th layer. Depending on how deep you are, the larger the effect of the abyss' curse has on you.
The two main characters, Reg and Riko decide to embark to find Riko's mother, Lyza from a presumed letter from her, saying that she is will be waiting for her at the very depths of the abyss.
This has the best worldbuilding I have ever laid my eyes upon, there are no main villains except the abyss itself and that's rather rare. Characters using their intellect and knowledge to avoid the curse and the animals inhabiting it, from uncovering the secrets it has. It sends you alongside the main characters in learning what the abyss has in store. If you want good storytelling then look no further, because I can't get enough of it.
Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show/Shoujo Tsubaki - No surprise it's back again, check my previous post in regards to my favorite movies. I've said my case on why I am a fan of this movie and eroguro movement in general.
Nekojiru - Dark comedy, two anthropomorphic cats and their daily life. It's filled with casual child abuse, animal abuse, racism, vulgarity, and violence. All of this was inspired from the creators everyday life because she lives in a poor neighborhood and she wasalso abused so it's to no one's surprise her manga is also filled with it. Write what you know, as the saying goes.
I like collecting and reading these kind of things so this just fits in my forte, it also has a niche fandom. It has a psychological movie also, no dialogue, just straight up acid trip. Go check it out.
Oyasumi Punpun/Goodnight Punpun - Psychological/Drama, of a young boy named Punpun, drawn in this cartoonish anthropomorphic blob of a bird and his everyday life. He through the same as any boy would experience, school life and experiencing a crush for the first time. Till he comes home one day and finds the house a mess and his mother on the floor and his father stuttering to find an excuse.
The manga follows him till his adult life as his mental state deteriorates, trying to find reason to keep on living inspite of the harsh life he has experienced. He then eventually meets up once more with his childhood crush and together they embark to find even meaning in their relationship.
This holds a special place in my heart as this is the manga I've read that actually understands how I feel, watching his dreams shatter and coming home to a broken family, disassociating yourself to the world around you as this goal that you've always centered yourself around no longer bares meaning upon reaching adulthood. You won't find that feeling ever again..
Sentai Daishikkaku/Ranger Reject/Go Go Loser Ranger! - Action/Drama/Sci-Fi/Superhero, taking place 13 years after the defeat of executives, the boss monsters, the dragon keepers decided to leave the few remaining mob monsters called dusters alive and strike a deal with them to do a play every sunday where they are defeated by the keepers so that they can remain in power still and have their place in the world still relevant.
The world of keepers are filled with political and social power that makes them almost untouchable, and while they are seen as villains in the eyes of our MC, fighter D, the line between hero and villain is blurred completely. There are many plot twists and you will find it hard on who to root for.
Sundome - Psychological/Romance, about a young man who finds himself unfulfilled due to not finding someone who can fill his heart with what he actually needs till an exchange student comes around and changes his life. This is a love story between a masochist and a dominatrix, and them learning to trust one another on whether their feelings are genuine or not.
This is an ecchi manga so heads up, they deal with sexual situations that are downright degenerate but it's all in the manner of consent and trust between the two. The two are challenged constantly throughout the chapters, if this is just lust on his part of does he genuinely love her inspite of it.
This to me, I consider the best romance I've read so far but I did not like the ending, I have a lot to say about it too, but most of the time I pretend it didn't exist. But the rest of it is amazing and I don't think I will ever experience something like it again. I will thank the youtuber for introducing me to it but fuck him for mislabeling this manga as psychological horror.
Tonari no Seki no Hen na Senpai - Romance/Comedy, it is adult smut so if you're expecting a deep analysis of the story, I'm afraid this ain't it. This about two co-workers, mayumi knows what she wants, a handsome guy and she just so happens to be in the sales department filled with it, what luck! The guy in question is unfortunately a clingly stalker who's a pervert and he wants to get together with this woman who was nice to him.
Sexual hijinks ensues, and yes, there is dubcon. If you want something to have a laugh or shut your brain with then go read this lol
-- I'll type out my favorite mangaka's here instead as listing one by one their mangas is tiresome, besides, I like all of their work. Be warned, they are eroguro artists.
Suehiro Maru's Mangas - There's too many for me to list it all so just browse his name and you'll find all of his manga collection. He's very popular for his showa esque art style and the macabre surrealism of it all. Yes, he is the one responsible for making Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show.
Shintaro Kago's Mangas - Another surreal eroguro artist, known for his bizarre one shots and grotesque imagery. Unlike Suehiro Maru, Shintaro displays fecal matter just because no one else likes to draw about it and leans more into dark comedy.

New Year's Ask Game For Fic Writers
@energievie tagged me, tysm!
To close out 2023...
1. What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?
Old Dogs, Old Tricks because i love old man yaoi gallavich growing old together and still taking care of each other :')) also only had to do limited research
i'll assume drabbles count - chore
2. What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?
someone quoted this line from A Spark of Fire and i do like it
He can’t help but think that sometimes people are like stars too. Like him and Ian. Mickey shakes out of his daze, causing him to accidentally look Ian in the eye. He feels a shiver down his spine at the way Ian’s smiling at him. So big, so full of love that Mickey isn’t equipped to handle, fixated on him like he’s the only being in the world that matters. When Ian grabs his head with his gigantic, warm hands and kisses him hard, he thinks Ian’s the biggest star of them all.
but i like my drabbles more lol, particularly proud of "You know this guy? #1"
3. What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.
prompts for getting started, sad songs for writing, and lovely comments for continuing 😌
4. What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?
my fav tags collection:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And to start off 2023...
1. Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?
finish/write angsty fics :D i get discouraged bc not many ppl want to read them but i just have so many ideas and it's my fav genre ok
2. Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)
previously mentioned angsty wip
3. What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?
write better descriptions
4. What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?
my creative ideas, sometimes dialogue and grammar too

could you share a few song recs by Patti Smith & PJ Harvey.. I'm curious and wanna get into them but have no idea where to start
YES omg i absolutely can!!! :DD hehe thank youuuuuu <3
the best place to start with Patti is her 1975 first album Horses - the first song, Gloria, is probably the best way to sort of sum up her music and the general vibes of what she's doing. all of horses is an excellent intro to her work. because the night is a song you've probably heard already, and is the most mainstream-sounding song of hers (it is still a banger though hehe <3). some cool ones to get started with -
Redondo Beach
Horses / Land of a Thousand Dances / Le Mer (De)
Ain't It Strange
Ask the Angels
25th Floor / High on Rebellion
Easter
Dancing Barefoot
Citizen Ship
Tarkovsky (the Second Stop is Jupiter)
About A Boy
these are mostly from her four 70s albums, which of all her music is definitely the most well-known - some of her more recent stuff is cool too, she's done some kind of ambient tributes to french poets & brian eno remixed one song, that was pretty cool as well, but yknow, bit more niche. radio ethiopia is my favourite album of hers but it does definitely lean towards art music for people who write poetry. like it's a bit odd but i love it. (i don't even write poetry)
if you're interested in her other works, i cannot recommend enough her books - Just Kids is the famous one and you'll see why if you read it hehe, it's very very good, about her life in new york with her best friend robert.
with PJ Harvey, she has gone through so many styles of music so there's not really one album that is a good summary of her stuff - that being said, To Bring You My Love 1995 is a brilliant album with some of her best stuff on it, and has some kind of grungey ones and also some slightly chiller ones as well, and it the first one i would reccommend ajznshnsaskan love that album.
some good songs to start with would be uhmm
To Bring You My Love
Down by the Water
C'mon Billy
Man-Size
Rid of Me
Sheela-na-gig
Water (live at glastonbury 1995 is also an amazing version if you're interested, it's on youtube)
White Chalk
I Inside the Old I Dying
My Beautiful Leah
again, mostly her older stuff, but her album from this year I Inside The Old Year Dying is so so so cool ahhhhhhh. white chalk as an album is all more gothic-folk stuff as well if that's more your thing than grunge. rid of me is the scary angry one but i love it <3
she has lots of really amazing live performaces up on youtube if you're wanting to look, and b-sides & until-recently-unreleased stuff & demos for all her albums, which can be a bit of a rabbit hole but lots of them are Really Very Good
i hope this helps!! it's quite a lot sorry lol but hopefully you like some of these!!

Hellooo 😊
When/why did you get into fedal?
And what's the next fic about plz 👀👀?
Have a lovely evening (?) (i don't know your time zone) 🥰
"When" is easy: when I saw the headlines that Roger was retiring and then I watched the sobfest that was Laver Cup and it Changed me.
"Why" is a much harder question, but the short answer is, "because I love my husband."
"Wait, wtf is this girl inhaling" you might say. Okay, that one might need some unpacking, so strap in, folks: like most people, I have a Type that I find insanely attractive. Apparently mine is "tall but not John Isner tall, slender build, long limbs, high level of coordination, feather light on their feet, movements so smooth who needs fucking butter, strong hands, laid back and relaxed vibe, self-assured and confident without being arrogant, comfortable with who they are and unapologetic about it, talented, creative, competent in everything they do, has a soft/wooby side that they're not afraid to show, emotionally intelligent, knows what they want and is not afraid to go after it, thinks strategically but lives in the moment, knows when to push through and when to relax, has a clear vision of where they're going and how to get there, calm and composed exterior but has a silly streak a mile wide, king of nicknames, high empathy, classic personal style but with a modern twist, looks good in a suit, nice hair."
That's how I like my men, that's who my real-life husband is in a nutshell, and that's probably why I like Roger so much.
As for why I like Rafa, well it's because I have eyes. Even though Rafa doesn't exactly fit my type, I do appreciate it when someone has that much booty and tanned skin on display. And I also have a soft spot for the introvert who is honest, sincere, hardworking, maybe not as naturally talented as others but knows how to use their strengths to achieve their goals, is extremely driven, makes up for any shortcomings through dedication and perseverance, understands their own abilities clearly but maybe doesn't always understand their real worth, can be a ridiculous ball of anxiety and has to employ various methods to get that shit under control, cannot be on time to save their life, super focused on the outside but a hopeless mess on the inside, always gives it their all.
(Spoiler alert: it me)
So there are really two reasons why I like Fedal:
On the conscious level, it's because I'm a sucker for poetry, symmetry, and contrast. (Can you tell that I was an English Literature major?) I think @zingaplanet summarized the lyrical appeal of the Fedal rivalry/dynamic the best in her biblical post here. I can't explain it better than Z did in that post, so I'll just point out that the intimacy and uniqueness of Roger and Rafa's relationship is so beautiful--and obvious--that I just want to roll in it like a cat in a warm blanket. Seeing a relationship like they have is gonna get me every time; I'm an absolute sucker for it.
But on the subconscious level, I think Fedal appeals to me because Roger and Rafa in some ways remind me of me and my husband as individuals. So obviously I want them to be married and share jokes together and hug and kiss each other and smack each other on the ass and hold hands and basically live happily together forever. The end.
**EDITED TO ADD: I got so carried away that I forgot your second question: I don’t want to spoil it, so I’ll just say that the fic I’m working on is the next installment in the “Carlos Moya Is Tired of This Shit” series, so you can expect Roger and Rafa being completely ridiculous and Carlos standing on the sidelines watching the disaster unfold.

Pride commissions
Happy Pride month, folks!
In lieu of the gayest month of the year, I'm opening up Pride commissions, cause I'm a broke queer who needs to pay for his pet rabbit! Yeah, ya heard me right! I'm opening up event commissions before my actual commissions! Isn't that great?
So, this is how this'll look:
If anyone wants a short story or fanfic with a theme of queerness (anything gay, bi, ace, trans, even polyam, literally anything queer) hit me up. All of them are a flat rate of £5 (not DOLLARS, pounds, do the math, don't skimp out) & all of them will be between 1k & 2k words.
If you want a short story, this is how it will work: Send me a private message through tumblr, with a screenshot proving you've tipped me 5 bucks through tumblr (I am not comfortable sharing my paypal account at this moment in time), as well as a synopsis of what you want me to write about. You can ask me for a number of fandoms, & I will let you know if it's something I can write for. And if you want a story featuring your characters, please link me to a few posts talking about said characters so that I can get a feel for their voice & how they act. You can also commission me for multiple stories, although be realistic please, I still have my own life to lead.
Here's also the link to my AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/UpInFlamesWriting
At the end of June, I will post all of the fanfic commissions at once. If you asked for an original piece, I will send that to you when it's done.
And if anyone wants to request a poetry commission (Pride-themed or otherwise), my rate is £1 per line, with a minimum of 5 lines & a maximum of 20. I will let you know how long the poem is for you to tip me, & then I will send it over.
I also do flower poetry:
Tumblr media
This is a piece I made for a friend. For poetry of this style, I will be taking a flat rate of £15, & you can choose the type of flower you want the poem to be about, & I will expect pre-payment as with the fics. If you want a different font, do let me know & I will adjust it accordingly, but for more complex fonts I will be taking an additional £10 for a £25 total. (For transparency's sake, the flower drawing is a tracing of a picture, I didn't draw it. I traced over a digital real life picture of a flower, but I do know how to draw flowers in real life)
With that said, happy Pride everyone! Stay safe, keep fighting for your rights, & never stop being proud of who you are.

hey i would love to see what characters you pair me with. i haven't really been in the fandom or considered who i would work with best for awhile so i'm curious to see if it's changed since i was younger.
okay so my name is leo, im sixteen, im a junior in highschool. i identify as a gender-fluid gay guy (i like men and use he/him pronouns). i have golden-reddish (it's a strange color) hair down to my chest although i want to get it cut/get layers in it soon. i have green eyes. i wear glasses that are thick-rimmed and nerdy. i have naturally long eyelashes. i have a very square jaw and pale skin. i have random dark freckles on my arms here and there. im 5'6. my style is literally all over the place but usually im either in sweatpants and a sweatshirt (either a purple rhett and link one or a beige on with different colored pickles on it) or a graphic tee shirt, jeans, and a denim or leather jacket.
personality wise well i like to think of myself as a pretty creative person. i try to find meaning in the mundane in my life. im not religious although i do enjoy tarot and crystals. i have always had a problem with building myself around other people. ill get addicted to certain friends to fill a void in me that thinks people need to save me/fix me. this doesn't work because it leads me to be very codependent and when people leave me (which they can! it's natural. nothing lasts forever) it totally messes up my self esteem. so im trying to build that self love and develop better relationships with other people.
i like art and writing, fall out boy, the outsiders, good mythical morning. i like learning about LGBTQ history, especially the aids crisis. im currently reading a book on it right now called "and the band played on." my favorite foods is shells with cheese. i like good friends and people that i can connect with on a deeper level. i like when people i talk to have lives that don't revolve around me. i also enjoy surrealist sculpture. i really enjoy felix gonzalez-torres's work. i like all sorts of different types of music. lately ive been very into folk, 80s new wave, and 2000s pop punk/emo.
i dislike terfs and transphobes and homophobes and things like that. i absolutely loathe loud chewers. i have a mental disorder called misophonia and so the sounds of chewing trigger me and trigger my fight or flight. it's absolutely horrible. i hate stupid people. i don't like peanut butter. i hate when people make aids jokes. i hate not feeling included or hated. i care a lot about my image and i hate when it looks bad.
i like to make art and write poetry. i listen to a lot of music, even though i can't make any. for art, i like working with graphite pencil and colored pencil the most, but i work with all different things in class. im in advanced arts classes at school. i auditioned when i was in middle school and now im gonna take ap art next year. for poetry, i usually write in free verse about personal things. i have a livejournal i post on sometimes. i run a poetry/art magazine club at my school where people can share things they've made.
i think that covers pretty much everything! sorry for how insanely long this is. i hope that sums up myself pretty well. i try to be myself. just yourself be if weird is you.
i think i’d match you with dallas! i’m a firm believer that dally has a very soft side so i think he’d love to both our little braids in your hair and to draw on your arms. he would love if you drew him. i could imagine you sitting on dally’s bed in bucks place while he’s leaning out the window smoking a cigarette. then you’d start making little sketches of him. once he notices he’d start flexing his muscles and posing n stuff.
there you have it hope it’s alright!

Album Review: 'Endless Summer Vacation' - Miley Cyrus
Tumblr media
Miley Cyrus has gone through so many evolutions at this point that she’s practically a Pokemon.
We’ve had neon-soaked Bangerz Miley trying to twerk her way out of Disney hell, psychedelic Miley and her Dead Petz, country pop sweetheart Miley on Younger Now, classic rock Miley on Plastic Hearts… She doesn’t give us the best of both worlds; she gives us all the fuckin’ worlds!
So, I guess Endless Summer Vacation is Miley’s Solar Power? Not quite. This record doesn’t take itself anywhere near as seriously, but it’s not nearly as interesting, either.
Like most Miley albums, Endless Summer Vacation is a mishmash of sounds and ideas. Some of it works, most of it doesn’t. If anything, Cyrus spends most of her time cribbing from other artists.
Tracks like ‘Rose-Coloured Glasses’ and ‘Thousand Miles’ (not that one) recall the earthy 00s-style folk rock of Maggie Rogers, which is no coincidence since both tracks were produced by Kid Harpoon, who also produced Rogers’ latest record. ‘River’ capitalises on the bubbly disco pop already perfected by the likes of Cyrus’ one-time collaborator Dua Lipa. ‘Violet Chemistry’ is just something Taylor Swift already made a better version of on Midnights. Despite having a rather powerful team of writers and producers behind it (including James Blake), it’s nothing more than a bunch of chintzy synths on a loop.
So many people have called this their favourite track on Endless Summer Vacation, but I just don’t hear it. Why? Are the pickings really that slim here?
Well, kinda. So what does work?
‘Jaded’ is a swirling Tame Impala rip-off but at least it’s a good one, infused with some early 00s power ballad energy. ‘Handstand’ (co-written with Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine, of all people) is big, fat and glitchy with a bright neon glow, with Cyrus tapping back into her weirdo pop instincts as she recites some swampy beat poetry (‘In the sky, we could see the riders on the horseback/On comets, coming toward us, kicking up with laughter/My friend Big Twitchy rode the boat into the light/Surfed to the north break/We danced until there was nothing left/Just me and Twitchy/'Cause that's all we knew’). ‘You’ is a jazzy, sweeping, aching ballad dedicated to Cyrus’ boyfriend, producer Maxx Morando.
‘Muddy Feet,’ meanwhile, interpolates both Ella Washington’s 1969 track ‘Starving for Love’ and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle,’ and it works. It’s Miley at her best: Bold, raspy and ready to cut a bitch as she leans into the more bluesy tones in her voice. It’s enough to make Sia’s backing vocals feel like an afterthought.
And then there’s ‘Flowers,’ a sassy response to Bruno Mars’ ‘If I Was Your Man’ with a nice, breezy groove tailor-made for ice cold daydreams and sunny kiss-offs to your ex. There’s also a hint of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ in there, so Cyrus hasn’t totally shaken off the classic rock aesthetic of Plastic Hearts. It’s grown on me with subsequent listens, but it’s still sort of wild that this song, so glossy and unassuming on the surface, has managed to score a massive 96m streams on Spotify.
But by the time we reach the final trifecta of tracks - ‘Wildcard,’ the balmy ‘Island’ and the schmaltzy ‘Wonder Woman’ – the momentum wanes, and you begin to forget the powerful high that ‘Muddy Feet’ left you with in the first place. The ‘Flowers’ demo that bookends the record isn’t really anything more than filler tacked on to milk the track’s success, though the more stripped-backed feel does give it a bit of a smoky flavour.
While looking at Stereogum’s coverage of Endless Summer Vacation, I saw an interesting theory posted in the comments section by a delightful chap/chappette going by the name of Econoline Van Fleet. ‘Not only is it obviously dog shit,’ they wrote, ‘but Cyrus is savvy and talented enough to know that it’s obviously dog shit. I suppose one could make the argument that her awareness of this fact is some kind of subversive performance art (“She knows that we know she knows!”), but that rationalization is itself a huge pile of steaming dog shit. This is the soundtrack of an artistically bankrupt empire in decline. The barrage of dog shit is every bit as predictable and boring as the decline itself.’
It’s not a bad theory, but is Miley really that self-aware?
As an artist, Cyrus seemingly suffers from a sort of identity crisis, always doing a hard reset on each subsequent era. The same also applies to Endless Summer Vacation: There’s no common thread between these songs, the tracklisting almost an afterthought. There’s a couple of empowerment anthems sprinkled here, a power ballad there, the weirdo pop track somewhere in the middle...
And despite the title, there’s not much to suggest that these songs are bright and summery in any way beyond 'Flowers,’ ‘Handstand’ and maybe ‘Violet Chemistry.’
Lyrical cliches are also rampant. Whether she’s pouring her heart out or sticking it to an ex-lover, Cyrus’ feelings are often vague and surface-level at best, leaving it to the tabloids and Genius cliff notes to fill in the rest. And it has an awful lot of writers behind it, too: ‘Muddy Feet’ alone has a whopping 11 while ‘Island’ - probably the most boring track on the entire album – has seven.
Endless Summer Vacation feels more like Cyrus making a cynical play for streaming numbers while still trying to atone for her more controversial eras. It’s all so painfully ‘safe’; I can't believe people actually like this. Y’all were just praising her for ripping off Stevie Nicks a couple of years ago...
Now 30 and newly divorced, it’s natural that the singer would display a little more growth, but blandness shouldn’t be mistaken for maturity. It’s a problem that’s plagued many a female artist before her: Being forced to file back the edges and tone things down in order to be taken ‘seriously,’ as if fun and lust and passion have a use-by date.
Cyrus' sharp shift into adult contemporary resembles that of P!nk in certain respects: A talented singer once known for rocking out now churning out bland, radio-friendly dance pop. I'm not much older than Miley, but even I’ve got no patience for this crap.
Endless Summer Vacation isn’t the long, breezy getaway most were probably hoping for. Rather, it lands right in the middle of the road, just idling there until Miley decides on what sharp turn she’s gonna make next...

RUSSELLING FEATHERS: A POP STAR WRITES A PLAY
And it’s a musical.
About the 1980s miner’s strike.
Think it sounds like a bad idea?
Well don’t worry, so does he.
Russell Senior was always an Awkward Pulp. Following their huge mid 90s successes, he left the band in January 1997 during the sessions for future single ‘Help the Aged’ because, “previously, the music always came collectively, from creative clashes, but I think Jarvis believed his own press and suddenly he was coming in with his own tunes. I didn’t think Help the Aged was worthy of following Common People,” he told the Guardian in 2009.
This tension was nothing new, however. A mid-80s interview released by Paul Mills’ Premspeak label and recently re-circulated captures a sparring Jarvis Cocker and Russell in full glory when discussing a 1983 Pulp gig that took place shortly before Russell joined the band:
Jarvis: “That was probably the best concert that that line-up played. That was quite good.” Russell:“I saw that concert and I thought they’d utterly sold out. Crap. They should have split up. Really hated it. You know, they’re very good songs and all that kind of thing, but it didn’t mean owt.” Jarvis:“Yeah, well it did mean something to me.”
When Russell joined Pulp later that year, he took them from the singer songwriter style naivety (and, “crap”) of ‘My Lighthouse’ and ‘Love Love’on the ‘It’ debut album to the discordant, atonal post-punk noise of ‘Tunnel’, ‘They Suffocate at Night’ and his own anti-fascist rant,‘The Will to Power’. Acclaim followed. Sales didn’t.
Russell wrote and sang other songs within Pulp, too. These aren’t the ones that appear on best-ofs. He set the ancient poem ‘To His Coy Mistress’ to a soundtrack of a plinking synth and drum rolling cacophony, he wrote and sang on the ‘Freaks’ album’s nightmarish ‘Fairground’ and ‘Pick Me Up! Magazine’s future headline story, ‘Anorexic Beauty’ before then indulging his burgeoning passion in Eastern European folk punk with the thigh-slapping ‘Srpski Jeb‘, the sound of which when, combined with Jarvis’ new interest in Eastern European Disco signposted the way towards Pulp #4 with such Eastern European epics as ‘Love is Blind’ and ‘Don’t You Want Me Anymore‘.
And when Jarvis discovered House Music, Russell continued to play his violin all over the top of it and then delivered his own bleak, dissonant, creeping take on the new movement with ‘This House is Condemned’ which provided the climax to the ‘Separations’ LP.
And when Pulp went properly pop with Babies, Razzmatazz, Lipgloss etc. Russell was still there, playing his guitar lines that sometimes fit and sometimes jarred pleasantly, his violin parts that lifted some of the songs of this era to greatness and that ever-present deathly stare from behind his epic collection of sunglasses. Thus, whilst Jarvis got the crowd going, “people’d be dancing, but there’d be a pool of emptiness in front of me, with people looking terrified. I started wearing sunglasses so I wouldn’t disconcert people,” as he drily told Select in 1994.
But there was another side to Russell too, for the above chronology isn’t quite as straight forward as it may seem. When the lineup that performed ‘It’ fell apart in 1983, there was far from an immediate segue to the Russell era of Pulp. For, instead of performing new songs onstage, the remnants of that lineup began performing, instead, as actors in Russell’s plays.
Those two remaining members, Jarvis and drummer Magnus Doyle, along with new recruit Tim Allcard (on hunting horn and poetry, of course) and Russell formed a performance collective called ‘The Wicker Players’ and performed Russell’s plays ‘The Fruits of Passion’ and ‘The Wicker Players Christmas Panto’ in 1983 at venues including Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, followed by ‘The Wicker Players Mystery Event’ in 1985 and a final performance at Sheffield Polytechnic at the end of 1986 (alongside Jarvis and ‘Captain Sleep’ playing “the daft disco songs” that would later go on to form much of Separations).
And now, after a quarter of a century, there’s a new play from the hand of Russell and his present-day collaborator, Sheffield-based DJ and former Kings Have Long Arms musician, Ralph Razor. The play is called ‘Two Tribes’ and it is, as the headline above promised you, a play about the 1980s miners’ strike.
So, just why has it taken 25 years to write a follow up play? “I never thought I’d write a play again,” states Russell seated in the office space in central Sheffield that the two are renting for the duration of the project, “I’d concluded that – to use the language of the mid-eighties – theatre was ‘bourgeois’ and wanted to get into something with a bit more bite, which being in a band certainly had.”
“Two Tribes” is a departure from Russell’s earlier work in that,“there’s very little if any surrealism in the play” which may well come as a disappointment for those wanting to see a return from characters such as Authoritarian #1 and Authoritarian #2 or scenes such as Jarvis eating a plate of (fake) dog shit at a job interview, but there is a potential sop to those clamouring for the wilfully odd Senior of old in that, “we are contemplating putting on ‘a cross between an installation, a disco and a seaside attraction’ in the run-up which would have something for those of the Dadaist persuasion.”
Or is he joking? Does he joke?
Originally, when Ralph first pitched the ‘Two Tribes’ idea to Russell, the latter stated that he thought it was a “ridiculous idea, and I want no part of it”. Now however, he “still has that reluctance, but sometimes you just have to get something down and see how it goes. I’m not sure who else is going to tell this tale and it’s a tale worth the telling.”
The enormous chronological gap between his plays has given Russell room to move away from seeing it as a continuation of his previous work in that he “can’t really think of any” lessons to be learnt from his earlier pieces. However, he does not that “the only time a play didn’t really ‘work’ was in the Crucible Theatre… so avoid theatres is maybe [a lesson to be learnt]… I dunno, ask me one on sport! Oh actually I’m a Blades fan… so maybe not.”
Oh! He does joke! The interviewing of this somewhat daunting character might be less traumatic than I had previously thought. Maybe we can even get away with asking something about Pulp later without getting stared at until we wither.
For now though, and given that this interview is being given in relation to ‘Two Tribes’, I was interested in how the concept of a “musical about the miner’s strike” could be sold to a hypothetical ‘battle hardened ex-miner’ who might think that ex-pop stars and DJs should something they know nothing about well alone. Russell opines that “it’s a big story and there’s room for all different ways to tell it, this is just one. And it isn’t compulsory. I’d hope our ‘battle-hardened ex-miner’ was as friendly as the ones I met during the strike…there was an awful lot of humour around at the time and it would be a misrepresentation to exclude that and get too po-faced about it.”
Ralph Razor agrees, and also has a line with which to sell the play; “’Two Tribes’ is a musical for people who don’t like musicals. We bring all the songs into it in a plausible way and in realistic settings; i.e. if someone does break into song, they do so in at a place/time when they could feasibly break into song and there’s no big cheesy chorus line dance numbers. We’re primarily using the hits of the time but haven’t ruled out using some original music in some way. We also plan to heavily re- work certain tracks into sort of musique concrete by creating layered soundscapes of domestic, industrial or other related sounds. There are elements of humour, and some camp moments but it’s not a high camp farce or send up of the strike, it has plenty of grit and it dramatises the main events and tells the story in a sensitive and respectful way.”
“With the current political climate of high unemployment, strikes, a Conservative government and public sector spending cuts the Miners’  Strike couldn’t be more relevant.”
“There is also a certain charm in taking a rag-tag bunch of misfits, whipping them into shape and creating something brilliant, in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; but we are definitely not against casting experienced and possibly named actors. It’s more about getting actors who are right for the play. We are based in Sheffield, and intend to launch ‘Two Tribes’ in Sheffield, and the play is based in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire so it makes sense to cast actors from the local area.” Russell agrees and points out that “it’s more likely you can find someone who can do the accent and feel the feelings round here.”
Ralph further states that “writing a musical isn’t really much different to putting on a club night. It’s all about creating a concept and choosing which songs to play, and when to play them, and then actually doing it and seeing it through,” and Russell says that “it’s always 90% perspiration. There’s the pub-talk, which is easy and then there’s the turning up and doing it, which is hard. I can confirm that people in the art world are still, for the most part, unreliable fuckwits who prefer the former to the latter.”
At the present time, Ralph states that“the script is ready to be developed and work-shopped with actors, and we have had quite a bit of interest already from directors and producers so watch this space.” Russell clarifies that “though most of the writing is done I’d say 90% of the work is still ahead of us because we’d like to do it in a particular style.”
The writing of the play was started early last year. Since then, both Russell and Ralph (with the latter acting as the former’s PA) were involved in 2011’s hugely successful Pulp reunion tour, although they avoided the Australian and Eastern European dates due to Russell’s fear of flying. Before the tour,“We were fairly close to finishing the play,” says Ralph,“We had completed the first act (of two), and had written about half of the second act with the rest in draft form. We also had quite a bit of word of mouth interest and momentum by that point so after the tour was over, we decided to pick things up again.”
They hadn’t been able to work on the play on tour due, Russell says, to being in a “different headspace entirely…where are my Kumquat’s peasant?! I said fresh ice – not this frozen rubbish!”
Given that Pulp are continuing to tour this year, but without Russell’s involvement, are we to take from that that this play means more to you than the idea of continuing to play with Pulp does?
“I guess it’s new over old. Doing the Pulp thing as a special event was a blast, but I wouldn’t want to make a career out of it. That way sadness lies.”
“Doing the Pulp tour hasn’t altered the approach [to the play] as far as I can see, although the strike certainly influenced my approach to the business of being in a band. In a way it’s a similar thing you strive for, to reach that tipping point where people lose sense of self and become part of a crowd, which has its own mass consciousness…well that’s on a good day anyway, and there were some good days, even this time round there was definitely a sense of communion at times and that’s a precious thing.”
You mention the strike changing your approach to the band. What were your views on the situation at the time? Presumably you probably hold quite hardline views on [then Labour Leader Neil] Kinnock’s attacking of [National Union of Mineworkers President] Scargill for refusing to hold a ballot of the miners and thus denying them the blanket of legality that they would otherwise have had. Do you think Scargill was right to do this? Do you think it likely the miners would have voted to strike if they had been ballotted?
“Kinnochio is the reason I don’t vote Labour anymore. Ugh,” explains Russell.“I think they would certainly have voted to strike. It wasn’t actually Scargill’s idea not to have a national ballot, but he’s a democrat and was bound to do what the union decided. Even if they’d had a National ballot and won, then the Notthingham thing [in which the Nottingham branch of the NUM broke away from the National NUM as they disagreed with the decision to strike without a ballot] would have happened because they’d have been doing divide and rule. Like when Ireland voted for independence and they said after the event that 6 counties hadn’t so they could split off.”
Ralph believes that the miners“probably would have [voted to strike], although I suppose by not doing so, Scargill left himself open to criticism.”
Russell’s viewed on Kinnock/Scargill have remained unchanged during the writing of the play.“During the strike I was able to observe Arthur Scargill at close range. What is remarkable about him is that he is totally unremarkable, just an ordinary bloke with a daft sense of humour. He had no discernable charisma offstage, but put him in front of his people where he becomes the conduit for their mood then you are dealing with something electric.”
Finally, I was intrigued as to how Russell had taken the news that the old Sheffield NUM headquarters was to be turned into a Casino. Do acts like this make him think that it’s more important than ever for the world to see the play, or does it make him worry that people don’t care about the miners’ strike anymore?
“I think that they are knocking too many buildings down, so a change of use is better than that, then in a hundred years time the building and its ghosts will still be there. I used to go wandering round Middlewood mental asylum (as an ‘urban explorer’ –not a patient) and there was an amazingly strong atmosphere. Then they turned it into apartments and somehow it was hard to believe it was even the same building because the atmosphere had gone. It was very sad…but one has to be grateful for small mercies. A rainforest will regrow but Victorian England will never come back, so these things are priceless treasures. Do you know that there are absolutely no cutlery factories left in Sheffield anymore… and they are knocking them down like skittles? Oh what was the question?”
I’m not sure anymore. I can’t get the image of Russell as an urban explorer in some sort of horror film environment out of my head.
‘Two Tribes’ is set to be debuted (in part) at this year’s Sheffield Tramlines Festival in mid-July.

Interview with joie blaney of Rx27
R27 – Art Punk Glam Goth Band from Los Angeles made up of outcasts and misfits. . Songs about the darker side of life and how to get out alive
Interview on September 19, 2020
By Dan Locke
Rx27 is an up and coming goth punk band from los Angeles with 2 lead singers Their music is for people who feel that this world is not enough. With true to life lyrics and catchy hooks Rx27 paint an honest picture of life in these troubling times.
What is your upbringing?
Joie x Blaney: It was pretty strict. Very family orientated. I was more or less the black sheep or the weird one.
How did you discover music?
My family had some records that I would listen to. The 2 main records I loved was Johnny Cash live from Folsom and Johnathan Livingston seagull. I played them whenever I could. Also, Barry Manilow and other weird records.
How did you start to write music?
I wrote poetry when I was younger. I kept them hidden from the world. It was my way of rebelling from everything. Freedom is in the creative imagination. I helped writing songs in previous bands as a bass player. That was my main instrument. Until I met this guy cranford nix who was a punk rock legend who wrote fantastic songs. I wrote some with him and he said joie you write great songs you should write some. There is a song floating around that I wrote and sang with him playing guitar. He has since passed away. But he was the first person that actually said to me. I should write songs. I respected him as a writer and a musician. We had some wild and crazy times. Wrote some great songs over the years playing music together. Everyone should check him out.
What was your first performance at like?
It was in a parking lot with a really bad band. It was mostly covering nobody in my high school really thought of me as a musician so I would travel to other high schools and play music with them. I was a loner misfit that never fit in in school or in life. It’s that way everywhere I go. I don’t want to not fit in but I don’t have the same feelings about life as most. I have a curiosity for life. Never cared what others thought for real and always wanted to play music. I live and breathe songwriting. I need to do it. It’s like eating but better. All the songs that I have written are about how I look at life or what I have experienced. Hopes dreams and fears always go into the song. Relationships love and the breakup always make up a song. Not everything I have written is great but it’s honest. I just like to write. And with a writing partner like Thad Coleman it makes it so much more fun. He is a great writer he has a style and a way of writing that is very complimentary to mine. Plus, we are dead honest with each other. We tell each other the truth about what we think of each other’s idea. Because it’s about the each other’s song not the writer.
What makes a good songwriter?
Honesty is the key to great songwriting. Lyrically and musically. They need to fit and be sharpened. We write songs on acoustic guitars. And we rewrite and rewrite and work on them until the song tells us it’s done. Delaying gratification and writing what feels good. I don’t understand these pop stars that have 15 writers. The narrative gets lost and it is more like fast food songwriting. I like writers like Dylan, Cohen Kristofferson. They are mostly acoustic folk writers. But they know the craft. stiv Bators was a great writer. Thunders was a great writer. Steve Jones from the pistols was a great writer. Working with Rikk Agnew from Christian Death was awesome. To write smart punk or emotional goth isn’t done that often or that well. I don’t like labels but that’s what they call us. We got called cool scuzzy death rock I will take that. All I know we are writing what we see and how we feel. I don’t wanna follow trends or jump on a bandwagon. Or write a cool vibe song. I want to write songs that have a universal appeal that speak to an audience that gets it. So far, a handful of critics like it and that’s cool. We are just writing for us and what we like.
How did you get the band together?
A mutual friend introduced me with to bass player thad Coleman. He had an acoustic guitar and we played songs the whole afternoon. I went to see him play bass in another band and just hang out. Found out we had a lot in common and our values of songwriting were similar. He knew 2 guys and we got together and wrote and demoed some songs. Fired a drummer got a new one played a couple shows got rid of a guitar player. Had our friend the dust warrior come in to play on the recordings. Found maxine through a friend of a friend and loved her voice. Went through a lot of people to find who we have right now. The core of the band has always been thad and myself. We write a lot of stuff and trust each other. We both are really committed to what we are doing. It doesn’t really matter if there is a pandemic or earthquake. We are always writing and rewriting. Right now, we are working on 8 songs to record in the winter of 2020. That will be scaled down to 4 to be recorded with an un named producer right now. We have a new guitar player that has been with us since June and he is fantastic. As well as a new drummer. So, we are ready to go.
It looks like you always looking for new members. I see want ads on Facebook. Things like Female Rapper Wanted, 2nd guitarist wanted, Looking for a band?
We always want to expand the sound of rx27. If it was up to me, I would have 2 guitar players. Keyboard player plus the 5 of us. I just think. If you are gonna do something. You might as well over do it. The female rapper thing is for the remix of chasing crazy called fuck forever. To

Would be great. The track is insane. It
Really brings a dynamic to the song. We wind have mumble rappers. But real deal mc rapping over the track. The demo sounds great.
How the band did get its name?
I just came up with the name somehow. I liked the Rx part as the prescription from life and the 27 was for the Saturn return. Not really the 27club. The Saturn return is what happen when Saturn comes back into your birth sign 27 years later. You either make it to the next level spiritually or you end up in the 27 club.
Who designed your logo?
We have this person Valentine Xiao who runs all the social media and logo with a handful of minions under the name of fall originals. I help but it’s all them. Everyone should have a valentine
Why 2 lead singers?
Why not. Wutang clan had 6-7 people. X has two singers. It shows the male female dynamic of life and when I heard Maxine voice it’s the voice I heard in my head for years. Visually it’s stunning. We really want to make Rx27 a spectacle.
Can you tell me about your upcoming music this Fall?
We have about 65 songs demoed and the list keeps growing. We are grabbing 8 of them, to polish up and then share them with some very cutthroat honest fans friends and peers. They will help us pick 4 out of 8. Some of the titles are Chasing Light, Call of the void., once upon a time and a handful of others. We are always improving the songs. And editing to get the best possible lyrics and guitar lines. It’s a very old school process. I wish bands worked harder on their craft. Be it lyrics or music. Take the time to really sit with a song and make it great. I don’t know if they know how. We write in acoustic guitars. Independently and share GarageBand files. We labor over lyrics and melody line until it feels right. For me it’s more art than music. It’s like a painting. Just don’t slam some paint on canvas unless that’s what you want to do. I love lyrics and finding the poetry in the words. The right word to go with a feeling. We orchestrate guitar parts. They are pretty thought out beforehand. That’s why we need two guitar players. I only play guitar in the studio or in conception of a song. I leave it up to the real players to play it live.
Tell me about the creation of your video “Murder Ballard”?
It’s a fly on the wall perspective of a toxic relationship. It was conceived by me and Maxine shot by Deb Frazin. It’s a dark video. I have seen the rough edits. It’s kinda disturbing but a lot of it was taken by true stories we all have experienced sadly. The song is a true to life cautionary tale. When someone your loved tries to kill you, Frazil need to write a song about it. I didn’t die but the relationship did. Thank god. And for me the only way to get over something is to create art to process it. There is a lot of symbolism in the video. Once it comes out it will make more sense of the song. It’s a two-part video. Song of sorrow will continue the story and answer the cliffhanger.
Did you think that the single would be radio ready?
For smaller bands who do not play large crowds, this is not really an issue. How do you see bands going back to smaller venues and doing things like play for the door, with no guarantees?
Again, play music do you best play like your life depends on it and something will happen there are no guarantees in life hopefully the clubs that survived will treat the bands great and the bands will treat the clubs great
With Social Distance being the norm. Do you feel that it maybe the end of the music fest for the next couple of years?
No, I think we will have music festivals and we will go back to a better world after all the chaos has calm down. I actually think music will be better for it because everybody is now starting at square one again
What about Holographic concerts in our living room?
That’s super creepy sometimes you got a let the dead rest in peace
How do you see yourself in the next five years?
Hopefully alive. And hopefully not looking five years older and sitting somewhere doing what I’m doing now I’m waiting to go on stage
