The warm air from the sunny day soon drifts the cool night winds. (Y/N) and her new companion just arrived back home and sat on the couch. Silence took over as soon as they arrived after a long day of walking and searching. There was nothing more upsetting than finding nothing on the first day. (Y/N) didn’t realize how determined she was to get Hawk’s memories back and find who did this to him. It was surprising to the girl when she found out that she still has a heart. A heart that cares for the people around her.
Hawk noticed how quiet she was. He could tell her mind was full of thoughts. Thoughts about how upset she was to find no leads. He waddles himself a bit closer to her. Not too close, given how little they know each other. “Hey, it’s only the first day,” he brightens a bit when her eyes meet his, “we’ll find out what happened. It’ll just take some time.”
(Y/N) nods, a small smile adorning her face. “You’re right. I was just hoping we’d get at least one lead today. Even if it was small.”
“Yeah, that would’ve been nice.”
She lets out a long sigh and grabs the remote sitting on the coffee table. A click sounded when she turns the television on. Anything that would distract her from the long day is what she’s hoping.
Color comes to life on the screen. Immediately shown is the news, with a blond woman sitting at her desk and a muscled man covered in fire sitting next to her. (Y/N) knew exactly who that man is. Both from popularity and personal reasons. But as she looked at the familiar man, a thought came to mind.
“Hawk!” She calls, spooking the bird, who sat close to her. “Do you recognize him? Anything coming to mind?” She looked a bit excited as a wide smile spread on her face.
Hawk almost cringed at seeing her that way. He felt bad having to lie when he knew perfectly well who the hero is. But with his trust unable to rise with her, he had to keep up his small act. Although he couldn’t remember what happened the night he was turned, he knows who he is and the people he has friendships with.
“Um…he looks familiar.” He decides to say. God, I’m such an asshole, he thinks to himself.
(Y/N) seems happy about his answer. “Well, that's something! He’s the number two hero, Endeavor. Maybe if we listen, he’ll say something that’ll jog your memory.”
“Endeavor! Thank you so much for coming,” the lady says excitedly. She looked anything but excited. Obvious sweat rolled down the side of her head. Either from the heat or from nervousness. (Y/N) knows Endeavor to be the not-so-friendly type of guy. “We have had a certain question pop up with our many followers. Endeavor, have you heard anything from Hawks?”
“Hawks is the number three hero,” (Y/N) confirms with the bird. Unbeknownst to her, he knows exactly who he is.
Endeavor scoffs, a bit of smoke coming out of his nose as he does so. “How should I know? It’s not like we’re friends.” (Y/N) puts on a fake smile. You got that right, she thinks.
“Is that so? It was claimed that he is missing. Nobody has seen him since last week. I figured since he's the number two hero, you guys talk often." The lady nervously giggles.
The news lady’s words caught (Y/N) off guard. She doesn’t know the hero at a personal level, but hearing such a thing was a bit surprising. “Missing?” She says softly. “That’s…new.”
Hawk turns to look at her, hearing her clearly. He’s a bit curious if she were talking about him, even though she doesn’t know he’s the number three hero. “What’s new about it?” He asks her.
(Y/N) catches his question, now focused on him. “Hawks? He’s the fastest man alive,” she starts, noticing the way Hawk instinctively took a step closer and puffed out his chest a little bit, “Or so I’ve heard. I’m just a bit surprised a hero like him is…missing.”
Hawk couldn’t help but feel a bit proud of how she spoke of him. Although his excitement went downhill a bit after mentioning she doesn’t really know his speed, he still felt alive knowing that he was being thought of. Sure, he has met and talked with many of his fans, before turning into a bird, but never has he really met someone who isn’t a crazy fan. His curiosity is building the longer he thinks about her words. He just had to know.
“What do you think about Hawks?”
The girl turns to him once more. A soft smile adorned her face when she looked at him thoughtfully. Hawk almost jumped, never expecting such a soft look from her. “Hmm…I’m not really a fan of any hero, from personal experiences, but I think he’s a nice guy.”
Personal experiences? Has a hero done something to her? Hawk became invested. He continued to listen to her before he could space out any further.
“I’ve never met the guy in person, don’t really intend to,” she giggles lightly, “but it amazes me how busy he could be. What was it he said before…? Something about wishing for heroes to be able to have time to kill? That’s why he’s working so hard. I admit, as someone who dislikes heroes, he has somehow caught my attention.”
She waited for Hawk to reply, but he seemed to be off into space as he stared at her with widened eyes. His surprise must not have been obvious to her. “I suppose I admire him.” She finally finishes, stretching her arms with a long sigh. Suddenly, a burst of laughter passes her lips, causing Hawk to come back to reality. “I just realized how similar you look to Hawks! The eyes, the feathers…and the fur! Isn’t that a coincidence?”
His feathers have never felt so uneasy before. He’s spooked that she noticed his appearance, so close to his original form, yet it seems she hasn’t quite caught onto him. He nervously lets out a relieved sigh when she stands up to leave, headed for the kitchen behind them. “O-oh…yeah! What a coincidence…” He mumbles.
He hears her chuckle when she reaches the counter, her phone loudly slamming onto it. “Alright, I think it’s about time we eat dinner.” She comments. As she opens the fridge for something to inspire her, a sudden noise grabs her attention. She quickly noticed it was a notification coming from her phone.
(Y/N) takes a peak at her phone, a quiet hum escapes her lips when someone she hasn’t heard from in a long time messages her.

Yandere Dio Brando x Reader: Useless
Tumblr media
Synapsis: You are one of the last hamon users and while the practice itself has died along Lisa Lisa, except for a tiny handful of users. While most are willing to allow their gifts to die out and go about their daily lives, you want to put yours to good use and join the crusaders.
Content Warning: Extremely dark themes, click the read more at your own risk! Non-con, blood, yandere Dio, depression/hopelessness, corruption kink, breeding kink, dirty talk, talks of su*cide, violence, and extremely spicy themes. 18+, minors DNI! By continuing to read, you understand the risk.
When you joined the Speedwagon Foundation, you knew the chances of you dying for Mr. Joestar’s cause was almost inevitable. Your gifts were nothing compared to the powerful and unique stands that you came across during the start of your journey. You were one of the last remaining hamon users, but instead of allowing it to fizzle out like the others who trade their gifts for normal lives, you wanted to help and be useful! Lisa Lisa long passed and you heard stories of how hamon saved the world. Allowing hamon to die was allowing a part of yourself to die.
Hamon was useless against stands, but worked wonders against humans and vampires. However, you primarily used yours for healing and support! The crusaders could use all the help they could get, so it made sense when the directors approached you for the task. Their lives are in your hands, and if it means to put an end to the vampyric Dio’s reign, then you’ll do your part and make sure these boys stay alive.
That’s what you thought at the beginning, back before your days meshed together and all time seemed to stagnate.
You weren’t sure how many days it’s been since you first arrived in this suffocating manor in Cairo. The dark and coldness inside the manor contrasts the warm and vibrant colors outside your window during the day. You were ever the spunky one when you first arrived, you knew your friends were well on their way and you had no problem voicing that fact loudly in Dio’s presence. He would scoff, flashing you an amused grin, after all you were (as what he puts it) like a fangless, clawless feline. You don’t pose any real threat, but it’s cute to see you try.
Dio is every bit what the rumors said. His raw charisma and power alone should frighten you, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle that’s Dio Brando. His beauty was truly breathtaking, much more so in person, his shirtless form proudly displayed like a painting hung carefully in the Louvre. His voice charmingly suave, almost a mesmerizing melody that beckons you closer like a siren’s call that you can’t block out. Worst of all was his eyes, that piercing gaze of his that can see right through you, all your worst fears and highest hopes, nothing can be hidden from this man.
When you first arrived at his mansion, you were awestruck. Cat-got-your-tongue indeed as you drank in the imposing monster of a man, your enemy. What could he possibly want from you? His smirk makes your chest clench as the hairs on the back of your neck stood up. You wanted to run, and you would’ve if it wasn’t for you being so goddamned weak. You were completely at his fucking mercy, all he had to do was give the word and you would meet your end. You expected to die right then and there, surely a man like Dio would take out his enemy while he had the chance, just so later down the line it won’t bite him in the ass. You weren’t sure if it was out of pity or amusement, but your death never came. Instead, the cocky asshole smriks and gives you his blessing to tour his home. Hell, he even allowed you access to his library, on the grounds that if you did decide to run, you would be all too easy to catch. You were convinced this man had no real plan for you being here, besides making things much harder for the crusaders by stealing away their healer.
You were determined to keep your head held high and wait for your knights in shining armor.
But now, you’re just a shallow husk of despair. All the hope and conviction you had died little by little as the days went by, as those dark thoughts that Dio would mock you with began to take root. There’s no point in brainwashing you when your conviction can be shattered so easily. During the day, Vanilla Ice and Pet Shop watch over you. You absolutely loathe Vanilla Ice. His blind devotion towards his master churned your stomach, all the while he’s looking down on you and lack of stand ability. His words stung, but now they mirror static, background noise for your chaotic thoughts.
Pet Shop was your preferred caretaker. He’s a bird, so he can’t talk like your other wardens. However, you could’ve sworn you saw that bird smirk once or twice, and his steely gaze mirrored his cocky yet powerful master. Perhaps the bird was silently judging you, even mocking you for being more caged than he was. After all, Pet Shop was allowed to move past the mansion’s windows and enjoy the fresh air and sun, even though he stayed within his bounds. A murder hawk has more freedom than you do.
The nights are always the worst. Screams of ecstasy or pain, you weren’t sure which anymore, filled the halls. After a while of being imprisoned, they all sound the same. How long before you’re next? You felt like it was any day now, and eventually your captor will grow bored of your constant banter. Perhaps that would be for the best, you’re dead weight anyway as long as you remain here.
Your friends were on a mission to save Holly, which you admit is more important than rescuing you. You knew the risk after when you joined this crusade, you just didn’t think it would end here in the lion’s den. You contemplated jumping out the window, not caring how painful the initial impact would be. You always decide against it, and instead sit and wait, chalking it up to being a coward as well. Everyday when your saviors hadn’t come, the little bit of hope inside was crushed gradually until barely anything was left besides tears of frustration and a luxurious queen sized bed to help you sleep.
Since you’ve been here, Dio took the liberty of making sure you’re fed three five star meals a day and accompanying you with a wine glass of blood. Such a gentleman, he even made idle chit-chat while you refused to take a bite (no matter how many times he told you it would be a waste poisoning you). Dio boasted about his many achievements, including how he stole Jonathan Jostar’s body, which you weren’t sure if he was just bragging or making sure that even in a casual setting, the threat still lingered. Was this supposed to impress you? Because the only responses you ever gave him were snide remarks and silence. Sometimes he would treat this like a silly game, but on days when he was more temperamental, you wisely chose to nod your head and actually eat what’s in front of you.
He made sure you were treated well, despite your situation. You bathed in a tub fit for a princess with fancy soaps and perfume, and was dressed in the finest of authentic Egyptian gowns that money could buy. All of which were gifts from Dio. He even took the liberty to do away with all your drab belongings and anything that didn’t fit his opulent aesthetic. He even gave you art supplies once. Whenever he gave one of these gifts, he always made sure to attach a rose with it. You always throw them out.
To occupy yourself when your host is gone and taking time for himself, you like to venture to his library and thumb through his vast selection. You’re sure you read over half of his stock by now, but something new always catches your eye to pass the time with. Usually you would saunter off into your room, avoiding the underlings as much as possible, but tonight was one of those nights where Dio met you there.
“There you are darling, I was worried I missed you.” His smooth voice did little to put you in ease.
“What do you want?” you sighed, making your way to the bookcase and browsing through different titles. Dio playfully scoffs, as always everything you say is just a game to him, and the disdain in your tone goes unnoticed. You didn’t move an inch when he moved closer to you, towering over your much smaller frame.
“You wound me dear, I only wish to spend time with you.” He leans in close next to your ear, his warm breath tickling your lobe. “Alone.” Now that’s laughable! Dio Brando isn’t a man who did anything out of kindness or ‘quality time’ without something in return. Did he run out of bodies to satisfy his hunger? What could you possibly offer him besides a snack?
“Spend time with you? I’ve seen what you do to the men and women who throw themselves at you for a sliver of attention. Their dead carcass lay about your manor like furniture when you’ve drained them.” You barely whispered. Why were you explaining his misdeeds to him like a child? You weren’t sure if you were trying to reason or reach the last thread of humanity within, but doubt was clearly written on your face. You wanted this to end.
You balled your hands into fists and shook with rage. “Just kill me and get it over with! I’m tired of you and I’m tired of being here!”
Dio couldn’t help but sneer at your sudden outburst. How can you say these things? He’s given so much to you, and this is how you repay him? Do you not realize what you do to him? How weak he is while in your presence? How absurd. You had to have known, and perhaps you were testing his patience on purpose.
Reaching up and gripping your chin roughly, Dio kept your gaze on him. “I ask very little of you and have given you everything you could ever ask for. Tell me darling, are you truly unhappy?” his lips brush against your own, and his voice dangerously low that it sent shivers down your spine. Your voice was caught in your throat, this tower of a man standing over you so domineering makes you seem insignificant. Like a large cat ready to pounce on his prey.
Tears run down your cheeks and you had no will to stop them. Why was he doing this to you? As if to answer your question, the blonde captures your lips and wraps his arms around your trembling form. With a jolt of energy you tried to shove him off you in defiance for your space. “Please stop, I don’t want…” you mumble. Growling, Dio pulls away and glares into your glossy puffy eyes, his brows furrowing when you don’t give in so easily.
“Pet.” he said through gritted teeth, his hand drifting down to your neck and squeezing rough enough to cut off air supply. “You’re being selfish. All I asked from you in return is your loyalty and to surrender yourself to me.” He picks you up by your neck and amusingly smirks when you gasp and attempt to wiggle free, your hands desperate for air. Your nails grazing his skin with little scratches did nothing to phase Dio, instead he chuckles.
“Funny, isn’t it? The man’s body I’ve taken, the only man I would ever call my equal, possesses the same power as you do.” Black dots formed in your vision and your legs grew tired from flailing. He lets you drop from his grip, and while you sit slumped over and choking on air for your burning lungs, Dio looks down with his ruby hues. “Suppose my interest in you is fate, or perhaps you remind me of him.” Bending down to kneel in front of you, Dio pulls you towards his chest and picks you up bridal-style with very little resistance from you. He smirks and leans in to whisper in your ear “However, your strength will never match his.”
Dio took flawless strides towards the desk on the other side of the room and pinned you down on your stomach against the harsh oak surface. With the wind knocked out of you temporarily, Dio traced his long nails along the soft chiffon fabric of your golden gown before tearing it to shreds down the middle, revealing your back and ass as the now useless fabric pools at your feet. Looking back at your captor’s sadistic smirk, your bloodshot eyes widen with realization. You were observant, he didn’t need to spell out what his intentions were.
Almost immediately, Dio parts your legs with his knee and runs his fingers along your slit, examining it’s beauty before he decimates it with his cock. Squirming, you tried to push yourself up from the desk. As weak as you were, you had to try! Even though you knew Dio had more than enough strength to overpower you. As if he read your mind, he takes both of your wrists in his strong grip and pins them against your back.
“Careful dear, you wouldn’t want me to break your arms, would you?” You stopped your struggling and stilled. It was best to get it over with and maybe if you comply, he won’t be as harsh with you, right? Just let him do what he’s going to do and don’t make it worse for yourself. “That’s better!” He smiles. “Lay there and trust your Lord Dio. Don’t worry about a single thing.” Don’t worry? How can you not? But, you did as he said and Dio goes back to running his fingers along your pussy, this time his index flicking against your clit.
Biting your bottom lip, you shut your eyes tight. Be strong….be strong…. You chanted, but the small shocks of having your clip played with after being in turmoil for so long, it was difficult to not give yourself over for anything that can make you feel a moment of blissful ignorance. You were convinced that either Dio was a mindreader, or you were just so painfully obvious, but he stops his ministrations with your heat and leans in closer, he carelessly grinds his clothed hardened cock against you. He was quite proportioned.
“Let’s enjoy ourselves, hmmm?” You shuddered at his words (and sizable bulge), a small whimper escaping you. Pleased with your sudden turn around, Dio leans back and without missing a beat, undoes his pants, allowing his cock weeping of precum to spring free. You swallow down a moan when his cock rubs against your clit, teasing your lips. Your cunt quickly became sloppy, as you were beginning to come around and throw caution to the wind. Dio must’ve noticed, because chuckles and mutters. “Don’t hide your cute noises from me now.”
With his cock soaked with your juices, he thrusts in and you do as he says, allowing a hoarse moan erupt from your throat that’s muffled by your face against the desk. This wasn’t going to do, not for Dio. While thrusting at a brutal pace, he yanks your hair back and lifts your head so he can listen to your lustful melodies more clearly. While you pant like a bitch in heat whenever he hits that spot to make you see stars, Dio releases your wrists in favor of gripping your hip tightly, leaving bruises.
Gasping, you didn’t move your wrists for fear of your lord stopping or worse. Pleased by your obedience, Dio’s pace quickens, just for him to slow down to a tortuous pace. Flustered you cry “W-Why? Please….please….m-more!” You try to turn your head, but his strong grip keeps you in place. What a wonderful development! Definitely a change in the right direction from how you rejected him a few moments ago. But, Dio wasn’t quite satisfied yet. He wanted your everything, not only your spur-of-the-moment submission. He’s Dio Brando, Lord Dio to his brood. He doesn’t settle for less than satisfactory.
With a grin, Dio knew just how he would achieve this. “You beg so pretty darling, I see you’re finally coming to understand who owns you. But begging isn’t enough.” When he started moving again, this time his cock kissing your cervix, your mouth hung agape in a silent scream. Your thoughts thoroughly scrambled with nothing but the pleasure that Dio was offering you. Hell, you weren’t even coherent when your position changed to you being on your back with your legs spread wide and exposed, only for Dio.
He picks up his pace, your cunt constricting around him as he pounds into your sore pussy, his hand now free from your hair pressed down your abdomen. He felt the slight belly bulge from him delving into your sweet cunt, simply delicious. “Darling-” He said too sweetly. “- You’re absolutely stunning so full of my cock, but I have a wonderful idea. I didn’t appreciate your attitude this evening, but I know how we can fix that!” You were too fucked out to comprehend his words, but nodded like the dumb slut you were. His dumb slut. “I’m going to breed this pussy of yours, fill you up with my cum, and you’re going to take everything I give you. Wouldn’t that be great? You grow big and round while your breasts are full with leaking milk.” He pauses as his hips sputter, his cock pulsating with the vision of you growling his children within your womb.
“Yes..I think motherhood will suit you well. Forever my ___.”
Whimpering, you nod in agreement. Whatever he wanted, as long as he didn’t stop. You were so very close! You mumble a breathy fuck when Dio pushes your legs up to your shoulders, diving in much deeper than before. Chanting strings of curses under his breath, Dio’s hand on your stomach drifts down to vigorously rub your sensitive nub and in almost no time at all you cum around his member, your juices rushing out to soak the desk and his cock.
“Oh god...oh god...oh god..” you chanted, making Dio’s ego inflate more if that were possible. Smirking, he lets you ride out your orgasm, before picking up the pace yet again, this time losing control of himself for once. Brutally he fucks you, his cockhead slamming against your cervix, as your pulsing walls from your aftershocks urges his throbbing shaft, begging to milk it. After a few final thrusts, Dio stills and his cock paints your womb with his seed.
He wasn’t done yet. Chuckling at your fucked out expression, it was so much like Dio to push for more. He wanted to mark you, make everyone but mostly yourself to know who you belong to. Your chest will do and his mark will be on full display. Using the nail on his index finger, Dio carves his name into your chest, pebbles of blood dripping down your sweaty and spent body after each scrape was made. When he is done, he admires his work, his name etched into your skin almost makes his cock spring back to life. What was he kidding, he could go a few more rounds anyway. But first, he leans in and laps up the blood, waste not want not right?
“There you are, how stunning. Darling, I wish you could see yourself right now.” Your eyes grew heavy, you were so exhausted and ready for a nap. Dio picks you up and doesn’t bother to cover you with your shredded rags. “No, no, don’t pass out now. We have a long night ahead of us.”

How Haechan And JiHo’s Friendship Evolved Over The Years [Part 2]
PART 1
Tumblr media
[2018 | Role Model | New York]
“And I have a question for JiHo.” JiHo turned her head towards the interviewer who just mentioned her name. “You’re a fairly new addition to the group.” The girl nodded along with his words. “The boys have been singers for a few years now, is there anyone in the group who you particularly look up to?”
The fans in the studio ooh in interest as JiHo looks at the boys in thought. Meanwhile, Johnny, Mark and Jaehyun translate the question to the other boys who now look at her expectantly. “Hmm. I guess...” She then looks to her right and motions her hand towards Haechan.
The boy looks surprised - as do the others - when he realises he got chosen. The fans on the other hand begin cheering. “Since we’re only a few months apart in age I can relate to Haechan a lot more. He’s really good at everything he puts his mind to and he also has a great personality.” She explained seriously but Jaehyun on her left side can’t help but smile brightly.
The interviewer noticed how Jaehyun and Mark whispered among themselves and asked what was wrong. “Oh nothing.” Jaehyun said between chuckles. “JiHo just fed Haechan’s ego, he’s not going to let her live this one down for a while.” Mark added.
And by the looks of it Mark was right, because right after Johnny finished translating JiHo’s words to Haechan, the youngest boy had a big grin on his face. His tongue poked the inside of his cheek as looked down on his lap. This caused JiHo to sigh. “You can never just be nice to anyone here.” She said in a light-hearted tone.
[2019 | Cheat Day | Rooftop Café in Seoul]
“And let’s work hard during our promotions! NCT fighting on three!” Yuta yelled holding his glass up high. Everyone followed and Yuta started counting. “One, two, three!” “NCT fighting!” Everyone yelled in unison.
The promotions for ‘Superhuman’ were beginning the following week, so NCT and their staff had decided to have a little kick-off party to start things on a high note. They were all gathered together on the rooftop of one of Seoul’s café’s with the best view, cooking food and grilling meat together - of course with the required drinks for everyone who was legal and wanted to drink.
Haechan stood with his plate next to Johnny who was in charge of grilling the meat. “Can I have some more hyung?” He asked, acting cute. “I already gave you so much.” Johnny laughed but continued adding more meat to the younger boy’s plate.
As Haechan moved over to the next table with food he noticed JiHo sitting alone poking at the food on her almost empty plate. He carefully approached her and sat down next to her. “Are you not eating?” At his voice JiHo jumped a little and then sat straight in her chair. “You scared me.” She gasped causing the boy to chuckle. He then pointed his chopsticks at the girl’s plate to redirect her attention.
“I’m not really hungry.” She sighed. “Well don’t mind if I do.” He reached out his chopsticks and grabbed the half of a boiled egg that was sitting on her plate. Shoving it in his mouth he sent her a wink. “Yah! You’re so annoying.” She pushed him by his shoulder and watched as Haechan choked on the piece of egg. He quickly regained his composure though so JiHo wasn’t worried.
He watched carefully as the girl grumbled to herself whilst continuously poking at her food. “Somethings wrong. Tell your role model what’s wrong. Maybe my sexy brain can think of a solution.” Completely taken aback by her member’s word, JiHo sent Haechan a disgusted look. “First off all, you should stop referring to yourself as my role model, I already regret calling you that a year ago. And secondly, I never said you had a sexy brain.” She fake gagged. “But you were thinking it.”
The smirk on Haechan’s face definitely annoyed the girl, but she had gotten very used to it by now and actually found that his annoying attempt to cheer her up was working. “The new manager put my on a diet again, and I seriously hate eggs, chicken tastes like cardboard to me and I’m sick of eating raw tomatoes and salad.” “Why don’t you just get food that you like?” Haechan asked nonchalantly, grabbing the other half of the abandoned egg from her plate. “He’s watching me like a hawk up there. He almost grabbed my plate to pick up the food for me.” She sighed.
Haechan took a few seconds to think and scratch his non-existent beard. “He doesn’t let you get the food you want. That’s what you said right?” JiHo nodded and watched as Haechan’s face lit up. “Wait here.”
JiHo waited alone for a few minutes until she saw Haechan approach her again with Jungwoo and each had two plates with them. Placing them in the middle of the table Jungwoo and Haechan sat down next to the girl. “Let’s feast!” Haechan beamed. She just watched as her 2 members began eating carelessly. “He isn’t watching. Just eat.” The youngest of the two boys said patting her shoulder.
A smile found its way on JiHo’s lips as she finally dug in, grateful that her friends were there to help her cheat her diet and feel more comfortable.
[2020 | Su Casa Mi Casa | NCT Dorm, 5th floor]
“He definitely fell on his butt.” “Wasn’t he embarrassed?” “It’s Mark I’m talking about, of course he was, but we’re so used to it now. So no one called him out for it.” JiHo giggled. She was video chatting with one of her friends from back home in France, while getting ready for bed. “I swear to God, your friends are so weird!” “Hey, you’re also my friend.” JiHo reminded the girl on the other side of the screen.
Suddenly the door to JiHo’s room opened and in walked Haechan. Wearing comfortable clothes and with a Nintendo Switch in hand he blindly fell onto JiHo’s bed. “Wait a second.” JiHo told her friend and turned her attention to the intruder. “What are you doing?”
Acting as if JiHo’s presence was new to him, Haechan looked at the girl with a raised eyebrow. “Hmm?” She shook her head at his clueless tone. “I’m talking to my friend right now. What are you doing here?” “I’m not bothering you right? You can just continue. It’s not as if I can understand what you’re saying anyway.”
JiHo rolled her eyes and decided to ignore him. “What’s going on?” JiHo’s friend asked with a giggle, amused by JiHo’s I’m-so-done-with-him look. “Haechan mistook my room for his again.” Haechan perked up at the mention of his name, but JiHo continued to ignore him. “Ow, don’t act like you mind. You’ve told me otherwise before anyway!” Her friend exposed her and JiHo rolled her eyes. “Okay~ Whatever.”
The conversation between JiHo and her friend continued on for another 15 minutes and when JiHo finished her night skin-care routine the friends ended the call.
“Move.” JiHo motioned Haechan to move over as she sat down next to him and watched the game he was playing. “Did Johnny oppa get mad at you bothering him too much or what?” “Nope, I just like your room, it smells nice here.” A puff of air escaped JiHo’s lips, which were turned up into a smile. “It’s called ventilation and a lot less hormones.” This time it was Haechan’s turn to roll his eyes.
When Haechan didn’t say anything - which JiHo did not expect - the girl spoke up once more. “Okay, I know you like how my room smells or whatever, but it’s still my room.” “You don’t care when people enter your room.” Haechan stated. “I don’t, but not at midnight when I’m about to go to bed.” “You don’t care if it’s Lucas.” “It’s because I like Lucas more than you.” JiHo stuck out her tongue and Haechan mirrored her mockingly.
Getting slightly annoyed JiHo pushed Haechan by his arm. “I want to sleep.” “I have every right to be here.” “What? No you don’t. It’s my room.” JiHo countered.
Finally Haechan put down his Switch and turned to the “annoyed” girl. “What’s the saying? Su casa mi casa?” “It’s mi casa su casa, you idiot.” JiHo couldn’t help but snicker at the boy’s mistake. “And also that doesn’t work here, because it’s both our house. We live together.” “Well more reasons that I have every right to be here.” Haechan grabbed his Switch again and laid back in a comfortable position. “Now move, I’m about to beat this level.” He bit his lip, focussing on his game.
A loud groan left JiHo’s lips as she stood up and grabbed her pillow. “What are you doing?” Haechan asked wide-eyed as the girl turned towards the door. “I’m either sleeping in Doyoung’s room or stealing your bed.” She explained and started to walk away, but Haechan stopped her and pulled her by her wrist. “What?” “How am I going to annoy you when you’re not in the same room?” JiHo squinted at Haechan and tried to walk away again, only to be pulled back once more. “Haechan-” “Wait, just stay here and watch me beat this last level. Please.” He pleaded sweetly and JiHo couldn’t help but sit back down next to him.
For about an hour JiHo watched over Haechan’s shoulder as he tried to beat the boss level of his game. Once he finally finished it he noticed how she had already fallen asleep. A chuckle left his lips as he climbed over her until he was standing beside the bed. Haechan pulled the blanket over her body and made his way back to his room.
[2021 | Lara Croft | SM Practise Room]
Dream was definitely one of the louder and more chaotic units within NCT. So when Mark entered the room he wasn’t surprised to see Jeno trying to fight Jisung and Chenle trying, and succeeding, to annoy Renjun. What he didn’t expect to see was Jaemin watching Haechan braid JiHo’s hair with the most focussed expression.
“What’s going on here?” Mark chuckled confused as he settled next to Jaemin. “He wasn’t going to stop bothering me until I let him braid my hair.” JiHo explained. “Your hair is finally long enough, I don’t get why you always kept your hair short.” “Why? You don’t like my hair short?” JiHo questioned looking slightly offended. “No! I didn’t mean it like that.” He then placed both hands on her cheeks and turned her head so she was facing the front - away from him - again.
Mark gave up on asking more questions and decided that a conversation with Jaemin would be a better idea. A few minutes passed until Haechan let out a loud screech. “DONE!” “Don’t yell like that!” JiHo scolded the boy and hit his thigh.
JiHo then looked at Jaemin and Mark expectantly. “How does it look?” “Uhm. I guess you kinda look like Lara Croft?” Mark said hesitantly. JiHo seemed to be pleased with the answer and started walked towards the mirror. “Yeah if she took a big ass tumble.” Haechan quickly added just as JiHo could inspect her reflection.
“Lee Haechan!” The braid that fell over her shoulder looked, for a lack of a better word, rough. The three strands of the braid were completely uneven and some parts of her hair stuck out of the braid. “I thought you knew what you were doing?” “I thought so too. I guess I just need more practise.” He bashfully replied, fingertips scratching the back of his head.
Soon enough the choreographer entered the room and the guys began their practise. JiHo had filled in for Mark while he had to miss the first 2 practises, so she was there to help him find his place in the different formations.
Going through some of the moves JiHo ended up getting knocked over by Jeno. He quickly helped her up and apologised. “Don’t worry about it.” She smiled and the other boys began teasing her for “messing up”. The comments were all very light hearted and JiHo could laugh with all of them, but Haechan decided to throw a little harsher comment. “JiHo, you had one job and you couldn’t even do that!” He dramatically threw his hands up in the air.
“Excuse you, Haechan-ssi.” She emphasised the formal way of addressing him. “I came to help you guys, but if you want to I can leave.” She said while making her way to the door of the practise room. “Wait! Don’t leave!”
Haechan pulled the girl towards him, enveloping her tightly in his arms. “I’m sorry!” He apologised profusely to which JiHo, and the other boys, began laughing. “Why? You don’t really need me, I think Mark got everything down. No?” She eyed Mark and he nodded. “Yeah, I think I’m all set.” “No! You know Mark hyung. He forgets easily, you need to stay until the last practise.” Mark scoffed at the minor insult towards him, but couldn’t help but smile fondly watching how clingy Haechan was towards the girl.
“Okay, I was just joking. I’ll stay, so let me go.” “What are you talking about?” Haechan said while still suffocating the girl in a tight hug. “You’re still holding me. Let go.” She tapped his arm a few times to signal he should let her go. “No I’m not.” His smile wasn’t visible to JiHo, but the rest of the boys could see how much he enjoyed teasing - or it could be holding - JiHo. “Guys please help.” She reached her hand out towards the other boys, but they just watched the girl struggle while Haechan seemed to be having the time of his life.

A bird? A bird: Hikaru x Haruhi
in which drunk Hikaru is a mood.

Hikaru Hitachiin x Haruhi Fujioka

Enemies to lovers, non-host club au, aged up au.

The disgust lingered in the back of his throat like iron, like a bad pill you swallow but not fast enough. He fumbled the chaser to his liquor, and now he was stuck with the gross aftertaste. The refuge of his office, where he gulped down air like water, could only last so long. He couldn’t even go out in the common area, break room or restroom without having to see her--and for that, for taking away his freedom and social butterfly antics, he hated her.
Every time he saw her cute little snarl and tight little bun and stiff black skirts enraged him, filling his blood with a heat he didn’t know how to deal with. Despite her short height, she held her nose in the air as she worked, the only way she could look down on everyone like she so desperately craved. Always propping up her law degree, well this and actually that, ruining any jokes he made with a deadpan stare. She messed with his head, distracted him from his work, and for that she must go.
As much as he had tried to get her fired--and he had tried--nothing made the boss budge. He tried pulling rank, as the head of the software department; he tried using his parents’ names; nothing worked.
She’s doing a stellar job, the bossman had said. And, she’s our lawyer. If we did fire her for no reason, she would sue us into the ground.
I do have a reason, Hikaru retorted. She annoys me.
It wouldn’t hold up in court, but it seemed good enough for him.
Hikaru inhaled deeply through his nose, grounding himself by gripping his desk. Surrounded by all his trophies and achievements, he still could only think of her. He had to handle this, or else he’d go insane, but he had no idea where to start.
Kaoru. Kaoru would know what to do.
He rose from his chair, taking one last look behind him at the stained glass city through his clear glass window. Despite it only being mid-afternoon, the city was pulsing and alive with color, birds dive-bombing for food, vendors hawking at passersby, tourists mixing and bumping into natives. Tokyo was loud, and crazy, and alive, where he knew he belonged and longed to be. Even nature was straining at its leash for the workday to end, eager to celebrate the Friday night.
He turned back and shut the lights off in his office, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he walked. His department was rather quiet, having given his employees the afternoon off. If Haruhi knew, she would chide him, but they were so far ahead of schedule that he couldn’t risk them burning out.
Once up the stairs and around the corner, he heard his brother’s voice laughing and chatting and speak of the devil, she’s here.
It shouldn’t have surprised him. Karou and Haruhi were surprisingly great friends; he tended to mellow her out, help her unwind from the stick up her ass. He just had that calming effect on people.
As soon as he saw her, Hikaru spun a 180 and turned right back around the corner, and Haruhi would have let him, but Karou intervened.
“Hika! Come over here!” he waved, a bright smile splitting his face. “Haruhi was just telling me how much she liked you!”
Haruhi seethed, switching to a guarded pose as soon as she saw him. “I certainly was not.”
“Oh, right, my bad, she was telling me how much she liked your latest game patch,” Kaoru apologized, but it was the furthest thing from sincere. “Tell us about how you came up with it. Haruhi would love to pick your brain.”
Hikaru smirked, testing the waters as he approached. “Is that true, Fujioka?”
She frowns, pushing her bridge up her glasses up her nose. God, those glasses. She looked so dumb in them, making her eyes seem so wide, so innocent, so...pretty. All he wanted to do was pluck them off her face and laugh as she jumped for them, reaching and whining.
“I mean, it’s original, for sure,” she said. His cheeks warmed at the praise, even as she squirmed. “And it should market well, and you didn’t infringe on anyone’s copyright this time.”
That wasn’t my fault. He took the compliment with a grain of salt, biting back, “Still in the whole get-up, I see. Not much for casual Fridays?”
As amber eyes raked down her body, Haruhi concealed the shiver that ran down her spine. “No, actually, because I didn’t go to law school to wear jeans every day at work.”
“You didn’t go to law school to become a smartass, either, but here we are.”
“OKAY!” Kaoru exclaimed, jumping up between them. “Friday afternoon, yeah? Any big plans for the weekend?”
Both instigators ignored him. “That’s the uniform, you know. We tend to be pretty laid back around here.”
“Lawyers can’t be laid back. Laziness and a laissez-faire attitude is how we get sued.”
Hikaru stretched, rolling his eyes. “Woah, woah, pardon your French.”
Haruhi shook her head, and a few mismanaged strands of hair fell from her bun to brush against her neck. Her pink lips perched in contempt, and she looked so fragile, squinting behind her thick-framed glasses, that he couldn’t help but notice how tight her shirt was, tucked into a pencil skirt that hugged so tastefully over her--
“Hika!” Kaoru suddenly exclaimed. “Honey wants to know if we’re still down for drinks tonight.”
His saving grace. “Oh, my God, yes,” he moaned, salivating already at the thought of tequila burning down his throat. Washing the week away was just what he needed, especially with the way this conversation was going.
And then Kaoru did the unthinkable: With his award-winning smile, he turned to Haruhi and asked, “Would you like to come?”
Hikaru could have strangled him.
But God heard his prayers, and the resident buzzkill shook her head. “Thank you, but sorry. I don’t drink.”
“No surprise there,” Hikaru murmured.
Kaoru definitely heard that, but if Haruhi did, she didn’t react. He shot his twin a look, a be polite etched into the lines of his brow.
“Sad,” Kaoru said. He bent over to pick up his work bag, stuffing his bento within and waving to Haruhi. “Maybe next time? We can go out for boba or something.”
Haruhi smiled--Hikaru didn’t think he had ever seen that before. It did something to him; suddenly, he felt as if his body was shaking, like his throat was full of needles, like he had taken one too many to the head.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” she said, and the smile disappeared when she looked at him. She gave them both a quick nod. “Have a great weekend.”
“Thanks.”
“See you Monday!”
Hikaru waited until they were out the door before punching his twin in the arm, hard enough to make him yelp.
“Dude, watch it,” Kaoru snapped, brushing over the mussed fabric of his cardigan sleeve. “It’s cashmere.”
“Stop flirting with her.”
Kaoru stopped in his tracks. A cloudy sky obscured the smirk on his face. “Woah, what’s got you so worked up?”
Hikaru kept stomping towards their subway stop, too lost in his own anger to notice who he had left behind. “‘M not worked up,” he retorted. “But you’re dating Kyoya. You shouldn’t be flirting with a girl.”
Kaoru skipped to catch up, joining him as they descended the stairs. “Kyoya said it’s fine if I flirt, as long as I come home to him every night.”
It took everything in Hikaru to keep him from shoving his brother into the sad, drab gray stone walls. He couldn’t put a finger on the irritation nettling just below his skin, or why the first layer of his heart seemed to simmer whenever he caught them talking to each other. All he could figure out was that it burned, and it made him hate her even more.
When he stayed silent, Kaoru knew he was right. He preened as he dug around for his subway card. “Boba isn’t a date.”
“Of course it is.”
“Then maybe you should ask her out on one.”
By then they were at the platform, waiting for their train. As the whistle signaled its approach, Hikaru very seriously considered pushing Kaoru onto the tracks.
“Tch. Over my dead body.”
“Then you can’t be jealous.”
“I’m not--”
Hikaru threw a punch when the train approached, distracting him and allowing Kaoru to live to see another day. As they hurried on, Hikaru couldn’t get his mind out of the gutter--or off her.
Jealous. Pshhh.

“I dunno, senpai, she just….she makes me feel something. Whenever she talks to me it’s like my hands are on fire, and my head hurts, and I feel like….like she’s stabbing me. There’s something going on in my chest, like a, like a--a bird. There’s a bird or a butterfly or something with wings in my stomach, and I don’t like it.”
Hikaru knocked back a shot and signaled for another one, eyes bleary as he tried to find the bartender. There were three of them, or maybe that was just how blurry his vision was, but he didn’t care; as long as one of them saw him and passed him another round, he’d tip them the moon.
Mitsukuni watched his friend wave to no one, the effect of one too many fireballs in the span of just two hours. He hadn’t seen Hikaru this hammered since college--and now, at 27, it just looked more like a cry for help than an occasion to let loose. And without Kaoru, who had already gone home with Kyoya and the rest of their friend group, on babysitting duty, Mitsukuni was the one left to make sure he got into a cab.
“A bird?” he asked, watching as Hikaru swung his head in confirmation.
“A bird.” A bartender came back with another shot, handing it to the redhead and giving Mitsukuni a questioning look. He waved at him, confirming he was the babysitter, and the waiter turned back around.
“Tell me about that.”
Hikaru gripped his cup, tonguing at the rim like a sippy cup. “It’s fluttering around, Honey. It’s--hiccup--like, moving. Whenever I see her or talk to her my heart just begins to pound.”
Mitsukuni bit back a smile. His vodka cran lay forgotten on the bar, but this experience was just too amusing to violate with alcohol. “And what do you think that means?”
“Means she’s gonna kill me.”
“Kill you?” His eyebrows shot up. “Why is that?”
Hikaru slurped the shot, spilling some down his chin, and Mitsukuni was fairly sure it was just plain water. “Because. She’s mean, senpai. She looks at me like she’s studying, like she’s gonna slice me in half. Like...I dunno. Like I mean something to her.”
Mistukuni twisted his wedding ring, inching closer to the discovery. He’s almost there, almost recognizing what the rest of the friend group has known for months. “And if you mean something to her, why does your heart flutter?”
“Acid reflux.”
“No, Hikaru.” He gently swatted the other man’s hand down before he could ask for another drink. “It sounds like the beginnings of love, to me.”
Hikaru gaped, not a thought behind those eyes, until it hit him like a wrecking ball. His fist fell to the bar, thudding, but he felt no pain. Only existential dread and a rocketing realization.
“Oh.”
“Mmhmm.”
“Oh, fuck.”

Part 1
Part 2
Hawks Mafia AU x Reader Pt. 3
After you got in from your brunch date, you washed your face of the little makeup you had on and change out of your outside clothes and into an oversized tee. You put on some tv and ended up falling asleep.
When you finally wake up, it’s 6:30.
“Wow, it didn’t even feel like I slept that long,” you say to yourself
Last night, you barely slept, so you knew that sleeping tonight would probably be an issue because of how long you slept this afternoon.
You decide to get up and take a shower, switching between hot and cold to wake yourself up and then leaving it on warm to finish. Once you get out, you put on some lotion and perfume.
You head to your bedroom, wrapped in your robe, to pick out some cute lounge wear since Hawks was coming over.
You take out a nude bra and leggings set and then a black bra and leggings set (think skims inspired) and hold them up in front of your mirror.
“Mochi, what do you think?”
Mochi is your white Akita that you adopted after you got out of school. You had some left over money after you had paid everything for the month and you always wanted a dog since you left home and it made your time away less lonely.
Mochi is well behaved and loves to cuddle and is only temperamental when he feels there is something off.
He walks over to you and boops the nude set.
“I think so too buddy,” you say agreeing and put on the loungewear.
You also grab a chunky cardigan to wear over it.
You glance at your alarm clock and see that it’s 7:30.
You were starting to get a bit nervous because it had been a while since you had a man at your apartment and even though you knew Hawks would never do anything to take advantage of you based on his behavior thus far, you were still a bit anxious.
Time passes by and at 8 on the dot, you hear your door bell. You look at your phone to see Hawks standing outside with flowers and take out.
“Coming,” you say excitedly and you go to answer the door
You take a deep breath and open the door.
“Wow baby bird, you look stunning,” he says, almost breathless
“Thank you,” you say shyly
“Do you need any help with those,” you say moving aside to let him into your apartment
“No, I got it,” he says setting the food on the kitchen counter
He turns to face you, flowers in hand.
“These are for you, humming bird,” he says handing them to you
“Thank you, they’re beautiful,” you say and then hug him
“They don’t have anything on you,” he says taking your hands in his and kissing them
You blush
“I bet you say that to all the girls,” you say sarcastically
“Believe it or not kid, I don’t go on that many dates. I’ve had flings and relationships that didn’t mean anything, but you’re different. I can actually let my walls down with you. Your energy is very calming and I can’t help but be relaxed around you,” he says honestly
You stand there, not knowing how to respond
“Oh god, w-was that too much. I’m sorry I-”
“No, you’re fine,” you say cutting him off,“it’s just, I’ve never heard anyone be so honest about how they feel so confidently.”
“Well, in my line of work, honesty is the best policy,” he says with a cheeky smile
“You’re so corny,” you say laughing
“You just bring it out of me,kid”
You sit down on one of your bar stools at the island in the kitchen and Hawks is on the other side, taking out all the food.
“It’s Thai. I hope that’s okay,” he says worried
“It’s fine, I love Thai food,” you say smiling, which eases his nerves
“Good..I’m glad, I was unsure of what to get on the way over here,” he says honestly
Just then, Mochi comes out from your room and makes a b-line for Hawks. Once there, Mochi starts sniffing him, making sure he’s not sus.
“Mochi,” you say,“c’mere boy. Sorry, he usually doesn’t just run up on people like that.”
“No it’s okay. He’s fine,” Hawks says,“I’m sure he was just checking on his mom and wondering who this weird guy is in his home.”
Mochi continues to sniff around Hawks and then he sits right next to and nudges Hawks’ hand with his nose.
“What’s up, buddy? You want some head pats,” he says in a baby/puppy voice
Mochi head tilts in response and places his head under Hawks’ hand.
Hawks pets Mochi’s head and ruffles the fur around his face.
You take a picture on your phone causing both Mochi and Hawks to snap their direction towards you.
You burst out laughing.
“You guys look,so cute,” you say with a smile
“Sorry kid, but I’ll have you know, I am devilishly handsome, not cute,” Hawks says
“Mmm I still think you’re very cute,” you say egging him on
He walks around to your side of the island and turns you around in the bar stool, so that you’re facing him.
He stands in between your legs and puts his arms on either side of you, resting his hands on the counter. He lowers himself down to speak into your ear.
In a low voice he says,“Baby I promise you, I am anything but cute.”
He moves his attention back to your face, smirks and walks back to side of the island he was originally on.
“Let’s eat, honey,” he says and starts dishing out some of the food he brought over
“O-okay,” you say flustered
You do your best to bring yourself back to earth, but now you find yourself stealing glances of Hawks, wondering what came over him, what came over YOU, what else hasn’t he shown you yet. You became more intrigued by the mysterious man that you are having dinner with.
For the rest of the night, you both spend it drinking and enjoying each other’s company.
By the end of the night, you both finish a bottle and a half of wine and you feel yourself grow tired due to the alcohol taking over your body.
“Hawks,” you say slurring the s and slightly loud, causing him to direct his attention towards you
“Yes, baby bird,” he says massaging your temples, as your head lay on his shoulder
“Why me? You’re handsome and rich and seem well traveled, but I’m just a regular girl. Why choose me to go on a date with,” you say quite timid
“Because baby bird, as you so put it, you are a regular girl. You’re nothing like women that I’ve been involved with, so to speak. You’re kind, caring, smart, funny, good with animals and last, but certainly not least, you’re beautiful. Inside and out,” he says honestly
“Hawks, you barely know me,” you say directly
“Yes, but I’ve observed you long enough to know what kind of person you are,” he says
You look at him with a shocked expression.
“Woah, not like that,” he says frantically,“just while you work, how you treated people. I learned you were someone worth having in my life and that night when I saw that guy harassing you, I just wanted to protect you. It was like this instinct kicked in and I just had to help. I couldn’t bare the thought of what would’ve happened had I or anybody for that matter, not have done something to help.”
You sit there stunned by his words. Next, you do the unthinkable, well for you.
You grab Hawks by his neck and pull him in for a passionate kiss. Things start to get heated and Hawks stops you.
“Baby bird, it’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just, if and when we get to this point of our relationship, I want it to be special for us. I don’t want to treat you like a fling and…I have an early work day tomorrow, so sadly, I have to go” he says
“Let me walk you out then,” you say, walking Hawks to your apartment door
You both make it to the door, when you suddenly stop him from opening it.
“Wait,” you say, then stand on your toes and kiss him on the lips, wishing him a good night
“Night baby bird,” he says, the closes your door
“C’mon Mochi, let’s go to bed papas,” you say as you walk to your room, stretching from sitting on the couch for so long
You lay on your bed, then turn on your side and fall fast asleep.

okay so here is my little bullet point story for the httyd au lol, hope you guys like it
love amongst the dragons
this is a zuko centered au but the story actually begins with how sokka got foof
sokka and hiccup are one no one can change my mind
the swt hunts dragons because dragons hunt them, same thing as httyd
so basically the httyd storyline isn’t zuko’s story but sokka’s
he shoots foof (sprinkle of saber tooth moose lion mixed with night fury, mostly changing the size and teeth – foof would look almost exactly the same as toothless but is taller, has bigger legs, is bigger in general and well the saber tooth of course – also night furies aren’t extinct!)), not because he cant actually participate in the hunting, he’s perfectly allowed, but he creates these machines and people are like just use a spear like the rest of us lol
he shoots the saber tooth night fury down and no one believes him so he’s like “okay fuck it im gonna go find it”
he does indeed find him, foof is too cute, sokka instantly loses the battle, he doesn’t wanna fight dragons anyway
he keeps foof a secret until katara one day sees sokka sneaking away while she’s practicing water bending (the war doesn’t exist, there’s just problems in the fire nation – so the SWT is full of people)
katara is like sokka what the fuck are you doing
sokka cant lie to katara, he can charm anyone else but not katara,, sisters are charm proof
anyways events of httyd proceed to happen
sokka learns how to fly, learns stuff in general about dragons
katara is kinda like the astrid but she’s like confused at the beginning bc sokka’s getting too good at handling dragons and she’s sus
they both get good with dragons after that
until they find another dragon when they were flying around
a Very Large tm dragon
basically a water dragon, inspired by the unagi but from the south pole, it can leave the water but it prefers to live in the deep ocean
katara loves her, she starts “practicing” water bending at a special spot so one can find her, only sokka and her know where it is since they found it while flying
blah blah blah the swt proceeds to have a happy ending and everyone gets a dragon
the swt starts a life with dragons this time and they believe they are the only ones doing this (aside from the air nomads) (there is no war so aang is born 100 years later)
BACK TO ZUZU
Crown prince zuko and soon to be chief of the swt sokka are penpals, they’ve met eachother once or twice, sokka never tells him about the dragons
The fire nation has few dragons left
The fn is the birthplace of all dragons, but they have very little dragons now, they hunt them for fun
It is a ritual for the crown prince to kill a dragon and bring to the palace its heart
ozai is aware that there’s only one dragon left in their territory and the last dragon nest is weeks away
he sends zuko anyway and zuko goes, but he really doesn’t want to kill a dragon
he finds one, he goes through all that same stuff sokka (hiccup) went through with “he looked just as scared as I was” so he lets the dragon free, the dragon isn’t hurt so he can fly away but he doesn’t
he knows zuko won’t do anything to harm him so he stays with him
zuko doesn’t know wtf to do so he does what he knows always sets him in the right direction
he writes sokka a letter and tells him exactly what happens, about the dragon (his name is druk obviously) and how he doesn’t have any idea about what to do, he hopes sokka can reply as soon as possible and if he has time he can come to the fn and help him, he’s an engineer right? He can help him build stuff for druk, right??
He sends the hawk with the letter, knowing it’ll reach sokka in about week, since he’s farther south right now, so he expects sokka’s answer in two weeks
He most definitely is not expecting sokka to get there a week later riding a dragon the color of the night sky, you’d think the dragon was black if it wasn’t standing under the sunlight
Zuko hasn’t seen sokka in a few years, so he’s not exactly the same as he was back when they were still 19 (they’re 21 and 22 now)
Sokka isn’t expecting to see zuko with a supposedly extinct dragon when he gets there tho
He’s fascinated by druk (also zuko looks very pretty)
Sokka teaches zuko everything he knows about dragons, how to fly them, how to treat them, everything (they’re like little dates but they don’t mention that, they’re buddies tm)
Zuko comes back to the fn and he finds out that ozai is planning to wipe out the last nest, so zuko tries to stop him
And ozai lashes out so druk appears to protect him, and ozai is like oh bitch you’ve done it now and his little army is about to attack both zuko and druk when sokka and foof (both were hiding there in the palace) do a sneak attack and get them both out
Azula sees all of this from the shadows (this is important)
Zuko and sokka grab some stuff and leave the fn
They fly to the swt, zuko’s nervous about ozai’s plan but sokka knows that once they get home and set up a plan he’ll be okay
Once zuko lays eyes on the swt he goes holy fucking agni and sokka laughs so hard he almost falls off foof
The swt is built to house dragons and such, it really is a sight to see
They make a plan and basically go all out, the swt and the air nomads are good buddies, so aang is there with his cloud jumper (appa!!!!! Flying bisons exist but they’re like very important to the air nomads and people don’t ride them, they just vibe)
Aang is the avatar, so he has a deep connection with alpha dragons (the bewilderbeast)
They all make a plan, and they start flying to the fn, katara takes her big ass unagi like dragon, but she goes underwater with aang following her from the skies (they’re trying to find an alpha to ask for help)
They get to the nest before the troops, and stand their ground
It seems like they’re about to lose when katara appears with her dragon, the cloud jumper and aang in the avatar state on top of an alpha
The battle ends quickly after that and zuko and sokka are like !!! we did it and they share a sweet little kiss bc I say so (currently listening to coming back around and it’s making me emotional)
Azula appears after all this in sokka’s room (he’s staying at the fn palace for a bit to help the fn get adjusted to the new dragon rules) sokka hasn’t gotten the chance to talk to azula much, but he knows she isn’t opposed to dragons (or that is what it looks like)
His answer comes in the form of azula actually asking him for help, because she’s been hiding two dragon eggs for about two years
Sokka’s like!!!!!!!!!! Yes I can help!!!
She takes him to the eggs and he realizes that he hasn’t seen those types of eggs before but the coloring of the egg indicates that they are fire nation born dragons (they’re bright orange at the top and dark red at the bottom)
He asks if she found them near a volcano and azula’s like, hm yes but are you aware this palace is IN a volcano, and sokka’s like oh yeah right, and he tells her those are most likely dragons that live inside volcanoes and they like extremely hot temperatures so she should keep them near lava or with constant heat
Azula takes note of everything, and she starts going to sokka if she needs advice with her dragon eggs
Azula: how long until they hatch? Sokka: you gotta wait, depending on the dragon they can take from 2 to 5 years to hatch Azula: hm okay
Time passes, zukka dancing and singing to the dancing and the dreaming is all I need in life (will draw tomorrow)
Anyways yes sokka and zuko start living their best life riding their dragons under the moonlight and early in the mornings watching the sunset from between the clouds the end <3

It Feels Oddly Domestic
Just a far warning there are going to be implied suicidal thoughts through the some of these little stories. I apologize if that tiggers or offended anyone I will put warnings at the beginnings of my stories if that is the cause!
Read the First Part
⚠️ Implied suicidal thoughts⚠️
“Mx. Paris there are other avenues that we could take.”
“Like what?”
“Well, the obvious one is to sue Callisto Merripen A.K.A Earthly Chaos,”
“Oh, come on you wouldn’t do that would you Cordelia?!”
“I don’t know!”
It seemed so outlandish, the idea of pro-hero suing another pro-hero. Especially when it appeared to be a horrible accident. Although the legal avenue for Cordelia to sue Callisto are more then sound.
“GAH, I don’t know what to do,” Cordelia huffed while in the shower, “I mean it does and doesn’t seem like a bad idea at the same.”
They turned off the shower tap, wrapping themselves in a towel and stepping out of the shower, “don’t fall again dumbass,” they muttered to themselves, “the last thing you need to do is all Aizawa or Hawks again to help you off the bathroom floor.”
They continue to think over the possible of suing the pro-hero that left them dying in the street, becoming more frustrated as the paced in their apartment, in an extra-large hoodie and boy shorts.
“Meow.”
Cordelia turned to their bed seeing the fluffy gray cat sprawled out within a pile of blankets, “good day, Aphrodite,” they said with a smile going to pet the animal, “maybe I should talk to someone…”
“Meow.”
“Thanks Aphrodite.”
Hawks was the first person they thought of talking to. He now the situation in and out he would give them advice.
Hey, I need someone to talk
Cordelia didn’t expect him to respond right away so they went to clean the bathroom to keep their mind of the choices they had to make. Although an hour and a half later they check their phone again.
[read] 4:23 p.m.
They frowned, knowing he was working. Although they wanted to be selfish this once. The possibly of making the wrong decision was eating them alive. They looked at the message list, Aizawa was under Hawks, the pro-hero 10 years their senior be the last person they texted. He had wished them luck in the meeting were the topic of suing Callisto came up.
“I can’t, he’s busy, it’s a weekday.”
Although they wanted to be selfish just this once.
Shota, do you got time to talk
It took less than a minute to get a response:
Is something wrong
Not extremely serious, but some stuff happened at the meeting today and I need advice.
If you’re busy its okay!
Do you want to do it over the phone, or in person
The fact that he had picked on how they like to discuss serious topics made them feel warm inside.
I would like to do it in person but this isn’t really about what I want
It actually is
Give me time to get there
🙏I’m in your debt
Your not, just provide me dinner
What would you like
It doesn’t matter if it’s food
Yaki Udon?
👍
 Cordelia smiled, heading to the kitchen to begin cooking while Aphrodite played with toy in the background. It felt almost domestic, making Aizawa dinner as he was returning from the school. He’s coming home if you will.
“Cupid, stop being an idiot,” they sighed, blushing, “he’s coming over to talk to you because you asked, this isn’t his home.”
Did Codelia Paris have feelings for Shota Aizawa, yes, Could it be because he was being he was being kind, possibly. Although the B.M.I Hero Fat Gum was kind to the young adult since the day they met, and they had no feelings for the 29-year-old doughboy. No, they had feelings for the 30-year-old tired teacher. But Aizawa wouldn’t have feelings for them, he was 10 years their senior and it’s not like he saw them as nothing, but a young pro and a possible friend.
“And know I’m thinking about Hawks,” Cordelia huffed.
The winged hero, that birdbitch, also had a place in Cordelia’s heart and out of the two men that Cordelia wanted to be with Hawks seemed more realistic, although that doesn’t get rid of the feelings for Aizawa.
A knock at their front door, made the jump, pulling them out of their thoughts, “it’s open!”
The door behind them opened, heavy and tired footsteps entering their apartment, “you shouldn’t leave your door unlock and answer it like that,” Aizawa stated, softly as he removed his shoes.
Aphrodite had waddled her way for to the cat lover, enjoying him picking her up and holding her like a baby, “I knew it was you,” Cordelia replied, back turn toward him.
“And what if I was a murderer, or something, huh,” Aizawa posed.
Cordelia chuckled, turning around and leaning against the stove, “you think I can cheat death a second time?”
Aizawa looked at them for a second, tired, upset, and depressed, but still trying to make jokes. Just like in the hospital a month and a half ago, “don’t talk like that.”
“You brought up, buddy,” they retorted as the would out bowels and utensils.
Dinner was state in front of them at the little circular table in the corner of Cordelia’s kitchen area. The element of sitting across from each other and eating dinner felt so domestic.
“So, what’s wrong,” Aizawa asked.
Cordelia sighed, “My lawyer said I could sue Callisto.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, granted no in the room looked happy with that opinion.”
“You say that as if you have other opinions.”
“I kinda do,” they sighed again, “I could ask for a public apology, which means the actual story gets out and a ruin a young man’s career. He could give me a small about of money, under the table as an apology. Or do nothing!”
“Jesus.”
“I was told that if I sue, meaning I could get both the money and the apology, but the Hero Commission pulled me aside after and said that was a horrible idea, and would have the wrong outcome for everyone,” Cordelia explained, “but I don’t see how that possible.”
“So, they don’t want you to do anything,” Aizawa remarked as a question.
“Basically, but right now my reputation is in shambles give the cover up job that they did,” Aizawa was silence for a moment, “what would you do Shota?”
“If it were me… I would do nothing,” he replied, “it seems like more trouble than it’s worth, but I’m not you.”
“I just want the people to know what really happened! I don’t care about the money,” Cordelia replied, getting up to place their bowl in the sink, “so I guess I’ll just ask for the public apology, I just don’t know what the right thing would be.”
“I can’t make the decision for me, Cordelia,” Aizawa remarked placing his bowl in the sink beside theirs.
“I know, I’m not asking you to make the decision,” Cordelia sighed, back leaning against the sink with their arms folded against their chest, “I just… I don’t… gah! It shouldn’t be this difficult to make this decision! And of course, I’m the one making it so difficult!”
“You are making it a bit difficult,” Aizawa chuckled, leaning against the arm of the couch.
“I guess I’m just worry about what people are going to think,” Cordelia huffed, “my brain is still stuck in my freshman of high school phase, I guess.”
“and I’m assuming that bad.”
Cordelia nodded, “a bit,” they muttered, “I was a people pleaser and worried about what everyone thought of me, stuff like that.”
“Sound horrible,” Aizawa joked.
“yeah,” they chuckled, moving to sit on the couch.
Aizawa soon followed, Cordelia scrunched up on one couch cushion at one end and the Eraser hero at the other end, “why did you want to please everyone,” he asked.
“I wanted people to like me,” they replied simply, “I wasn’t the rocking bombshell that I am now. I was a nerdy, chubby, kid in America with shitty parents. I was bully through out my American education career. When I got tired of it all, I made it so people would at least tolerate me so I wouldn’t be so alone.”
“So, what happened when you got to U.A.?”
“People were nicer. I found actual friends. Getting to meet Fat Gum and get chances to have a social life where I could be myself, helped me a lot” they explained, “and hey, I even lost a bit of weight.”
Aizawa rolled his eyes at the comment of their weight, which Cordelia didn’t notice, “I feel like since the accident I'm falling backwards,” they added, “as if I'm trying to keep those around me from leaving because “I’ve done something wrong." I know it's not true, but that want a part of my brain believes."
Aizawa was silence listening to them, which was him being polite although, of course, Cordelia’s brain take that way, “I’m sorry for rambling.”
“It’s alright,” he replied, looking at them scrunched up on their own couch, “you can relax, Cordelia.”
“Then my feet would be in your lap.”
“Okay?”
“That’s your personal space,” they replied.
“and I’m in your home,” he added.
“I’m not putting my feet in your lap.”
“Too bad,” he huffed, pull at their feet, laying out their legs landing their feet in his lap.
It feels unbelievably domestic!
“Whatever… so tell me about yourself, Mr. Aizawa!”
He rolls his eyes, telling Cordelia very little about his younger ages, only because he didn’t feel like reliving his trauma at the moment. He spoke a lot about his time as a teacher, very little on his actual self.
“Come on, Shota, you gotta give me facts about yourself,” Cordelia chuckled.
“I mean there isn’t much,” Aizawa replied.
“Come on,” they groaned, “there’s no secret talent, or anything like that?!”
“Well... I can tap dance,” he answered.
“WHAT REALLY!”
Cordelia shot up, “dear god you are tell the truth,” they laughed, “THAT’S AMAZING,” they yelled falling back on the couch laughing.
Outside a center winged-hero was flying through the night sky, soaring to a center apartment. It’s not that he was ignoring Cordelia’s text, he was busy. Although the fact that he didn’t get a respond from them had him a bit worried.
“Come on, songbird, be okay,” he muttered.
Hawks landed on their balcony wall; he could see the light were on before he landed. Once he looked inside gave him the answer on why they didn’t respond to his text messages.  They were talking to 1-A teacher.
“Shota Aizawa,” Hawks muttered, “you keep stealing my thunder.”
Hawks looked down at his phone, opened on his messages with Cordelia.
Whatcha need Cupid
Songbird?
??
I’m sorry I was busy
I’m Flying by if you still need to talk
Cordelia please answer me!
[Delivered] 7:05 p.m.
Cordelia to him was a friend and had been a friend since they had started being a pro. He had someone to flirt with that would flirt back, someone to joke with, someone to feel at peace with when near them. Although since the accident he knew that Cordelia wasn’t doing great, and the red winged hero was trying his hardest to be support, but granted he was never good at that.
Hawks’ eyes fell to the cat sitting, inside, in front of the siding door, giving her a little wave before leaving, “have fun songbird.”
“MEOW!”
Aizawa and Cordelia looked over at Aphrodite, who sat in front of the balcony, “You want out stupid,” Cordelia asked, getting off the couch.
“Don’t call her stupid,” Aizawa chuckled, watching the beaten hero walked to the door.
“Maybe she’d be called smart if she figured out how to open the door,” they joked, petting the top of Aphrodite’s head, before siding the door open and swiftly shutting it and turning back seeing Aizawa off the couch, “leaving?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, have a stay trip back to the school,” Cordelia replied, “and thank you for doing this, I’ll make it up somehow.”
“You don’t have to make anything up,” he replied.
“Maybe I could help you grade or train the kids,” Cordelia proposed.
“That’s not a bad idea,” Aizawa chuckled.
Cordelia smiled somberly, the tried teacher could tell something was wrong. Not like if he left something would happen, but just that they didn’t want him to leave, they didn’t want to be alone. He could tell by the smile and the look in their eyes.
“Please text me or call me if you need anything,” he added softly, “I’ll be here as soon as I can.”
“I know,” Cordelia remarked, “now go, Eri probably want you to read her a bedtime story.”
That confirmed from him, that they didn’t want him to leave, and that broke his heart.
“Goodnight, Cupid,” he remarked, reaching for the door.
“Goodnight, Sho,” they giggled.
Once he left things didn’t feel so domestic anymore, they unbelievably felt sad and cold.

The Problem With Authority - Chapter 7
Or, Sacrifice Summon! Jiang Yanli is here to make things right, be the ultimate big sister (step 1: bring back her dead brother), and maybe steal the Peacock throne in the process
[AO3][1][2][3][4][5][6]
Awareness rushed in with a crack like lightning. With it came pain, but not as much as Wei Wuxian would have expected from exploding into a pulp of blood and guts.
The ground beneath him felt solid. Cool and rough like poorly sanded wood, nothing like the smooth, burning volcanic stone that should have bordered the river of lava, should he have been unlucky enough to neither fall in nor die on impact.
Wei Wuxian was still, it seemed, in possession of arms. Because those were what hurt — and only those. That, and a bit of a crick in his neck from lying face down on a hard surface, and a possible splinter in his cheek.
He inhaled the scent of dried blood with every breath, and still, only his forearms burned.
Dust from the floor made his nose itch.
Fuck. He was alive. And definitely not at the bottom of a cliff.
He could only conclude that he had been resurrected. A few feet away he would find the names of whoever someone had decided to give up their very soul to destroy.
What if he just… didn’t? Wei Wuxian hadn’t agreed to this. He hadn’t wanted to be brought back. He’d only wanted the two people left in the world he cared about to live, without him around to get in the way.
He lay there longer than necessary, contemplating it. But in his heart, he always knew he would get up. Besides, he felt… not great, honestly. But more alive than he’d felt in a while. Like his soul had taken a nice sabbatical.
Like he’d come out of an extended, impossibly peaceful meditation. Similar to that used to cultivate to immortality, but for the dead. And landed in a body only slightly less full of resentful energy than the one he’d vacated.
Wei Wuxian pushed against the floor, raising his head. Someone gasped.
As he raised himself into a seating position, he swept the curtain of hair away from his eyes, and laid eyes on a stranger. A short young woman, draped in Jin gold and muted pink, both hands pressed over her mouth. A sword lay on the ground next to her, almost like she’d dropped it.
But cultivators never dropped their swords.
“A-Xian!” The woman breathed.
That couldn’t be good. Only Shijie had ever called him that. Did the Yiling Patriarch still have obsessive followers even after he so publicly self-destructed? Or worse, had the Jin decided to use him for their own purposes.
Wei Wuxian had only just been resurrected, and he was already in trouble.
Unfortunately, wherever he’d been must have been peaceful, because Wei Wuxian was feeling a lot less self-destructive, compared to the last thing he remembered:
Lan Zhan, still trying to save him, though he was already dead long before destroying the Stygian Tiger Amulet sealed the deal. Jiang Cheng, finally done with him, but missing his swing, and nearly killing Lan Zhan as well. Wei Wuxian had been happy to fall.
Yet now he felt more alive than he had in years.
Which meant that whatever this was, he had to deal with it. Ugh.  “Who are you?”
“Oh, right. You won’t recognize me like this.” She hurried to the wall behind her, and picked up a tureen. Wei Wuxian maneuvered himself into a sitting position as she did so, readying himself to run, once his legs felt strong enough.
And once he figured out who this woman and who the poor sap had killed himself for revenge expected the great and terrible Yiling Patriarch to kill.
She set it down on the edge of the array, and lifted the lid.
Only one thing in the world smelled like that. Just the smell was enough to bring tears to his eyes. His world shifted on its axis. “Shijie?”
She nodded, blinking rapidly.
He launched himself forward out of the array, and into her arms. “I’m sorry.” He sobbed. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
“Xianxian, no. I’m here.” She said, but she was crying too.
They fell to the ground together, and, because neither Wei Wuxian nor Jiang Yanli had ever been ashamed of crying, stayed that way for a long time. He stroked her hair and clung like he was nine years old again, and she was the first person he could remember tucking him in at night. The one he ran to when he didn’t understand why Madame Yu hated him so much. But now, she clung back just as fiercely.
He couldn’t believe she was here. Who would ever have summoned sweet, caring Jiang Yanli to take revenge? Few people knew how strong she was in spirit. And the body she was wearing remained entirely unfamiliar. Smaller, but more solid in his arms than Shijie had ever been.
Eventually, she pulled away, just far enough to ladle out a bowl of soup and press it into his hands. She watched him like a hawk until he’d eaten half the bowl, though he was still more than a little choked up.
When she was satisfied he wasn’t going to wither and starve to death in the next five minutes, she said, “There’s something else you should know. Your Lan Wangji —”
“He’s not mine.” No matter how much he wished it. Wei Wuxian had only ever cast his shadow on Lan Zhan’s light. He couldn’t let himself do that to him again.
“You should let him decide that for himself, but that wasn’t the point.” Shijie rolled her eyes as she patted his hand. She even took away his bowl and set it on the ground, which went to show that this was serious. Shijie would never take away soup without good reason. “He saved your A-Yuan. Lan Yuan, courtesy Sizhui now. ”
“Sizhui? Lan Zhan — me?” Lan Zhan couldn’t really have named his A-Yuan Sizhui, could he? That was — Wei Wuxian had been the one yearning, longing for someone out of reach. After Wei Wuxian’s first stint in the Burial Mounds, he never could have been worthy of Lan Zhan, of what they could have meant to each other. Lan Zhan, well meaning, had persisted in trying to help him. But he hadn’t thought Lan Zhan would still — not after all he’d done.
“A-Xian.” Shijie wiped her thumbs under his eyes, and he realized he’d begun crying again. “Those of us who know you for who you are, and not the masks you show the world, cannot help but love you.”
Lan Zhan was — Lan Zhan —
Wei Wuxian could not drag him into this, whatever revenge he was expected take. But maybe, someday —
“Anything else I should know while I’m out of tears?” He asked, when his eyes were swollen and puffy and finally dry.
She told him about the Wen siblings, and he wasn’t out of tears after all. At least Shijie had always been a sympathetic crier, so at least he wasn’t alone in his weeping.
After their tears finally died away, and Shijie had plucked a pair of his drying talismans from her sleeve, she refilled his soup. Wei Wuxian really was out of tears this time, or he might have started off again.
Only then did he remember to clarify what, exactly, was going on. Now that Shijie had told him all the important things. That he hadn’t gotten everyone he ever loved killed or condemned to a life of misery, after all.
“How did you manage this?” He asked around a mouthful off heavenly pork. “Whose body is this, I mean? And yours?”
Wei Wuxian listened with increasing horror as Jiang Yanli told the story of waking up in the body of the new Madame Jin, all the way through to the array he’d woken up in. His curiosity was sparked by the implications of what Qin Su had done — closer to what he’d been trying to accomplish with the arrays than anything he’d been able to achieve.
And she’d done it entirely by accident, with consequences they had yet to fully understand. All of which seemed to rest on Qin Su’s shoulders, with no signs that Shijie was anything but firmly anchored in her body. It bore further investigation anyways.
Though for the moment, another concern was more pressing.
“Xue Yang?” Shijie had gone near Xue Yang to bring him back? That twisted, murdering bastard without even a sense of scale to temper his depravity. And she’d done it for him. He wasn’t worth the risk. He should have killed Xue Yang years ago, when he had the chance — There was a wrenching feeling in his gut as his fear and anger spiked, irrationally, over a matter already settled. “Oh, ow. What the fuck.”
No, not his gut. His lower dantian.  That sure was a tainted golden core, so it really must have been Xue Yang. The state of his golden core would certainly explain why Wei Wuxian felt so off.
Xue Yang’s golden core, which was now his. A golden core, something he’d long believed lost to him forever, resting inside him, an unwilling gift from his enemy.
Wei Wuxian was simultaneously disgusted and euphoric.
He’d never had to deal with the risk of qi deviation before, because the resentful energy hadn’t interacted nearly so badly with the sluggish flow in his meridians after its driving force was removed.
“What’s wrong?” Jiang Yanli put one hand over his forehead, and held his wrist in the other. He felt her, prodding around for what was wrong with spiritual energy. Something she never could have managed before.
Only Wen Qing knew how to treat this, though.
“Well, when a cultivator with a golden core uses demonic cultivation, it taints it with resentful energy. A little is fine and gets burned off, but a lot like Xue Yang — I’m surprised at how well he was holding off from a qi deviation, honestly.” “That’s why when I —” He broke off in a laugh.
Shit.
It was too much to hope that Shijie hadn’t caught his slip. “A-Xian. What happened to your golden core?”
“Um.” He really should have said Wen Zhuliu, but he couldn’t lie directly to Shijie. Not when she was staring at him, wide-eyed and concerned. Even if those eyes weren’t the ones he knew.
Wei Wuxian dared anyone to resist that.
When his confession was complete, she said nothing. Only sniffled.
Finally, she hugged him tight again, and ladled out more soup, though Wei Wuxian had yet to finish the second bowl. He dug in, shoveling each bite in, but chewing slowly, savoring the flavor like he’d never known he should before.
Tainted or not, the golden core inside him was fully formed and strong. An impossibility and a blessing.
“Are you all finished with the emotional reunion?” Nie Huaisang of all people swanned through the door. “Great! Hi, Wei-xiong!”
Gaping, he looked from Nie Huaisang to Shijie.
Shijie’s expression said oh right, him.
Ok, then. This was happening. “Hi, Nie-xiong. How have you been.”
Nie Huaisang plopped down in a heap across the soup tureen from him. “I’ve been better! Jin Guangyao killed my Dage, so we’re getting revenge.”
“Right, Shijie told me. Is he the only one I have to kill?”
Shijie shook her head, confirming his suspicions. “Him, another sect leader, and a few of Jin Guangyao’s guards. I’ll write the names down for you.”
Wei Wuxian really wanted to be done killing people. He wanted to — well, he wanted an impossibility. Traveling with Lan Zhan and A-Yuan, visiting Shijie and Jiang Cheng often in Lotus Pier, helping Wen Ning grow new varieties of vegetables in his garden, and arguing cultivation theory with Wen Qing. Even if Lan Zhan still wanted him, if they saved both the Wens, Jiang Cheng would never want to see him.
Shijie turned to Nie Huaisang. “We need to get him in to see Wen Qing.”
“Well, I can certainly provide a distraction, but he can’t just walk into Koi Tower like that.” Nie Huaisang hummed, tapping his closed fan against his lips. “You need a disguise.”
“A mask?” That would be the easiest thing to get a hold of.
But Nie Huaisang was shaking his head. “No, no, that won’t work. That’s just suspicious. You need something no one will see through.”
“I’ll think about it.” He wasn’t entirely sure that a mask wasn’t the solution — just not the sort of mask anyone else had ever come up with.
“You do that. In the meantime,” Nie Huaisang clapped his hands together. “Questions.”
“How did you get Xue Yang to give up his body to me?” Shijie hadn’t mentioned the details, but Wei Wuxian assumed the trickery had been at Nie Huaisang’s hands.
But Nie Huaisang tsked and shook his head. “I didn’t do it. Your sister did.”
“Shijie?”
“I lied.” She said, a slight flush rising to her cheeks. By the time she finished explaining what she’d done, he was looking at her in an entirely new light. “I wanted you back. I could save you, so I did.”
“Shijie. I — but. Your husband.” Wei Wuxian had been so caught up in having her back, that he hadn’t even apologized yet. What kind of useless brother was he?
Nie Huaisang got to his feet and practically ran for the door at the first sign of emotion.
“It wasn’t on purpose.” Shijie tried to put her hand on his shoulder, but Wei Wuxian flinched away.
“How did you know?” After all the time he’d spent antagonizing Jin Zixuan, calling him the Peacock and even attacking him in public, no one should have been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Shijie did not deign to answer, simply looked at him as though the question was ridiculous. As though she still trusted him, after everything.
“Well, you’re right. I didn’t mean to, but it was my fault.” No matter how he thought of it, if it were not for Wei Wuxian — if he’d taken a less obvious route, if he’d taken Wen Qing with him instead or gone alone, if he’d imposed on Lan Zhan enough to ask for an escort, if he’d simply remembered how easily the power given by the Yin Iron could be stolen away — . “I stole Wen Ruohan’s control, and I forgot someone could do the same to me.”
“It is not your fault. You were ambushed, and scared, and trying to defend yourself.” Shijie hugged him, and again, he melted into her arms.
“It is, though. It is.” Wei Wuxian choked down a sob. He really couldn’t start that back up again. “I just wanted to meet your son.”
“You will.” She assured him, petting his hair soothingly, the way she had as long as he’d known her. Wei Wuxian couldn’t believe his luck.
When they emerged from the warehouse, Nie Huaisang was waiting.
“Did you find what you were looking for?” Shijie asked Nie Huaisang.
“If it’s here, Xue Yang hid it well.” He sighed heavily, and didn’t even flourish his fan. So clearly whatever he’d been searching for was important.
Something in this little town full of coffins and burial goods, complete with paper mannequins peering out the windows. It was scarcely dusk, but the streets were already empty. He could feel — but not see, not like the mysterious resident of Shijie’s head — the mostly inert resentful energy everywhere. He could see what would have attracted Xue Yang to the town, but not why he wouldn’t have simply made it more of a living hell, and moved along.
The slippery little bastard had done nothing but complain of boredom on the way to what should have been his execution, after all. “What was he doing here anyway? It’s an eerie little town, but you said he’d been here a while?”
“Well, he was kicked out by Jin Guangyao, and it seems he set up a domestic little arrangement with Xiao Xingchen.” Nie Huaisang made an effort to sound flighty but his mind was clearly still elsewhere.
How the — no, actually, he didn’t want to know. Everything Wei Wuxian learned of the events following his death was stranger and more unsettling. “And my shishu won’t wonder what happened when he never comes back?”
Peering into the darkness of an alley, Nie Huaisang flapped a hand dismissively. “I’m having Song Lan tracked down. He’ll forget all about him soon enough.”
Good for his shishu. He deserved his second chance at love. Wei Wuxian hadn’t had time to be devastated over their separation, the failure of what he’d wanted his life to be because he’d been too busy throwing it away.
But maybe, just maybe. If he completed Xue Yang’s revenge and was here to stay, if Shijie and A-Ling and the Wen siblings were all safe and secure. Maybe he could earn a second chance with Lan Zhan someday.
It would take years to make up for his mistakes, Wei Wuxian imagined, a slow courting of hundreds of handmade gifts and tracking down the most challenging hauntings across the cultivation world. He’d remind Lan Zhan that he was good with children, and be there to help him raise A-Yuan the rest of the way. Show him he would never miss another moment.
There went his imagination, wanting things that were distant possibilities as best. Who was to say Lan Zhan hadn’t moved on? All Shijie had to go on was guesses, gossip, and a glimpse.
They passed a row of coffins, just waiting to be filled with some unlucky sap. Wei Wuxian drew up short. “Why do I sense some really strong resentful energy?”
“Xue Yang was turning people into puppets for fun.” Nie Huaisang said, causing both him and Shijie to glare at him. It seemed he’d failed to mention that to both of them.
Though, honestly, Wei Wuxian should have guessed. He pinpointed the coffin that felt like a mass grave, and whistled with no force behind it. Even so, a shifting spiderweb of resentful energy briefly became visible. That was a ward. One that would take him about an hour to unravel, using demonic cultivation.
Or, conveniently, application of Xue Yang’s own spiritual energy.
“No, this is more static. Almost like — “ He shoved hard at the lid of the coffin, and it slid forward a few inches, letting out a cloud of black smoke. “Shit, Xue Yang’s piece of Yin Iron.”
“Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for.” Nie Huaisang perked up, his usual good humor restored. “Do you think you can —” Shijie, uncharacteristically, pinched his arm sharply. “Jiang-guniang, why? I was going to say destroy it.”
“Sure,” He said absently. “Same way I did the Tiger Seal.”
“Can you destroy it without hurting yourself?” Shijie asked gently, reminding him exactly how that had gone.
“I can’t, but didn’t Lan Xichen manage it somehow?” He kept shoving at the lid, to no avail. Right, Xue Yang must have a sword somewhere. He reached into his sleeve and found a hilt, as well as a pair of qiankun bags.
“He said that, but Dage told me in confidence that the pair of them sealed them away again in secret. I don’t know if Erge told him where. I certainly don’t know.” Nie Huaisang paused. “And yes, I do mean that.”
The sword felt worse than the core, like it was used to Xue Yang’s cultivation. Jiangzai, it was called. That felt suiting. But though it resisted him, when Wei Wuxian sent a bolt of energy through it, the lid went flying into a wall thirty feet away.
Oh, so it was either nothing or too much with Jiangzai. He saw how it was.
Wei Wuxian stared down at the contents nestled inside. The Yin Iron was there, shaped into what looked like another Tiger Seal, but less powerful by far. Stacked right on top of two items that were undoubtedly just soaking in that resentful energy. Fuck. “Um. Nie-xiong? I think Xue Yang has your brother’s body. Also Baxia.”
It was agreed that Nie Mingjue’s body would have to be retrieved the next day, as Wei Wuxian had only just been resurrected and neither Nie Huaisang nor Shijie could fly. Shijie didn’t say, but he assumed she either hadn’t had time to learn, or temperamental swords were a side effect of resurrection.
In case it was the latter, he should probably bring that up at some point.
Shijie handed him some talisman paper, so he could construct a ward over the coffin, and they went down the foothills to an inn where Jin Ling was waiting.
His baby nephew had already been put to bed by the time they arrived. Which was all for the better because that meant Wei Wuxian actually got to see him.
Jin Ling was so big already, grown bigger than A-Yuan had been in what seemed to him the blink of an eye. Six years old, when he should have been all of a hundred days. Wei Wuxian reached out and hesitated, looking up at his shijie.
She nodded, watching them both with her heart in her eyes.
He hesitated several more times on the way to touching A-Ling’s hair, afraid that touch would shatter the illusion. But A-Ling didn’t disappear when Wei Wuxian touched him. A-Ling’s skin had the downy texture of childhood and his hair was silky under his fingertips, a sign of how healthy and loved he was. Jiang Cheng had taken such good care of him, though that never should have been his job, if not for Wei Wuxian.
A-Ling stirred under his touch, and he snatched his hand back, but the boy only shifted onto his side, and stuck his thumb into his mouth.
Wei Wuxian loved him so much, just as he’d known he would.
Because Wei Wuxian couldn’t bear to give up his scant moments with his darling nephew, he, Shijie, and Nie Huaisang sat on the floor to discuss how they would break Wei Wuxian into Koi Tower unnoticed.
Not something he ever expected to want. But he did want to see Wen Qing for himself — they needed to yell at each other for self-sacrifice, without her paralyzing him again. And Shijie would worry if she didn’t know he was alright. So Wei Wuxian supposed he would let Wen Qing poke around in Xue Yang’s core.
As Shije and Nie Huaisang heatedly (for them) debated their methods, Wei Wuxian occupied himself by unpacking Xue Yang’s bags item by item.
The current Nie First Disciple, a woman he’d fought alongside on occasion during the Sunshot Campaign, stood guard outside the door. Neither she, nor the younger disciples accompanying her, had seen remotely surprised to see him. So Wei Wuxian assumed resurrecting notorious traitors was just par for the course in things their sect leader did.
He reached in and grabbed something with an odd, elastic texture. Pulling it out, he flinched. And flung it on the floor.
It was a mask of someone’s face. He’d seen them before, when a possessed woman in Yunmeng had started carving the faces off her neighbors and wearing them as masks. This, though, was melded together to form a face disturbingly similar to Song Lan’s. And according to Nie Huaisang, Song Lan was still alive.
Had he written about that night hunt? Xue Yang could easily have modified the method. He would bet Jin Guangyao had focused on the profitable ideas among his inventions, and let Xue Yang make the most grotesque techniques of his demonic cultivation worse. The techniques that could do good had almost certainly been left to languish.
Even if Jin Guangyao wanted to leave reform as his legacy, he couldn’t openly use techniques that showed demonic cultivation was not all sacrificing virgins and creating puppets from amalgamated rotting meat. Better for him that the Yiling Laozu remained a monster under the bed, even if it meant leaving people to starve, their fields and forests tainted with resentful energy.
Well, if Xue Yang could twist his techniques, Wei Wuxian could twist them back.
“You, Wei-xiong, look like you’re having an idea.” Nie Huaisang fluttered his fan. Wei Wuxian’s eyes narrowed as he looked back and forth between it, and the creepy skin mask on the ground.
He thought back to the brightest period of his childhood, flashes of a masked figured twirling and kicking on a stage, flourishing a fan in sharp movements, creating an illusion of transformation. “Nie-xiong. You’re a cultural connoisseur.”
“I make an effort.”
“That dance where the performer changes masks behind a fan — do you know how it works?” The dance, from Meishan, involved face changes, using greasepaint or changing the color of a beard. Or, more importantly, masks. Madame Yu had enjoyed it, often hiring troops from her natal sect’s territory to perform for guests and during festivals. Wei Wuxian didn’t know the trick to it, but Nie Huaisang might.
“The Bian Lian? That is a particular favorite of mine.”
“No, really? I would never have guessed.” He never would have expected Nie Huaisang of all people to enjoy a dance that involved fans! Or masks!
Nie Huaisang rapped him on the shin with his fan, and “Ow, fuck, is that thing made of steel?”
“I wouldn’t know.” Nie Huaisang said primly, which Wei Wuxian took as a yes.
“Huaisang.” Shijie gave him a disappointed look.
It wasn’t quite as stern as in her own face, Qin Su’s heart shaped face rendering it somehow even more gently chiding, but it was just as effective. Nie Huaisang sighed. “Yes, I know how it works. Would you like me to sketch a diagram?”
“Please.”
Wei Wuxian interpreted Nie Huaisang’s caving to Shijie as his having been officially taken under her wing. He wondered if that meant they were brothers now.
It was a little-known secret that Wei Wuxian was not the only child raised by Jiang Fengmian to collect family wherever he went. He had, in fact, picked up that trait from his sister. Around the time she’d decided he was her didi, no matter that Wei Wuxian was never officially adopted into the clan.
“What are you thinking, A-Xian?” Shijie asked, while Nie Huaisang was busy being unnecessarily artistic with his diagram. Wei Wuxian would have so many extraneous swirls to work around.
“Well, I’m not wearing that thing. I’m pretty sure it is human skin, just not the person’s face it’s copying.” Wei Wuxian might control corpses on occasion, but he wasn’t wearing one on his face. That was just gross, in a uniquely Xue Yang fashion. Just remembering the moment he’d touched it made him want to spend the next week becoming a prune in an excessively soapy bath. “But I can’t just run around like this.”
Neither Wei Wuxian’s own face nor Xue Yang’s was exactly ideal. But Xue Yang had committed each and every crime he was accused of, with more undoubtedly yet to come. Wei Wuxian had only committed some of crimes he was given credit for. He was grateful Shijie had ensured he was given his own back.
Besides, Wei Wuxian was clearly better looking than Xue Yang, whether they were being judged on a scale of handsomeness or prettiness.
That didn’t stop either face from being a problem. “So I thought, why not make a mask where I can pretend to be Xue Yang? But where I can also quickly change to a harmless face, and avoid any future angry mobs.”
Wei Wuxian would strongly prefer not to be the target of future angry mobs. The once had been more than enough.
“Impersonate Xue Yang? But A-Xian —” Shijie frowned, an expression he never wanted to put on her face. “Don’t get more involved in this than you need to be for my sake. I brought you back for selfish reasons, and I can ensure those marks disappear and leave you free.”
Obviously, Wei Wuxian would never do that. “Shijie, you brought me back because you care. And I love you too, so don’t tell me not to help you.”
She reached out to pet his hair, and he leaned into it. “You’ve sacrificed enough.”
Shijie might think so, but he would never agree. Wei Wuxian would always want to help. Not because he owed her for what he’d done — which he did — but because he loved her. On top of that, she was trying to overthrow a child murderer, and improve the lives of ordinary people in an unprecedented way. Of course he would do anything he could to help.
And he didn't want her to have to learn how to kill.
He pulled away, and grasped her too-slim shoulders instead to meet those bizarre, smaller eyes that still, somehow, felt like her. “It’s not about sacrifice. I can be a distraction for you. If Jin Guangyao’s as clever as you say — and I remember that was  my impression of him — he won’t stay ignorant of what you’re doing forever.”
“A-Xian—”
Wei Wuxian cut off her protest. This was the best way for him to help. Any protest she had could only be an attempt to protect him. “But if Xue Yang’s a ghost he can’t catch? Maybe you can pull it off.”

tw self harm, blood, mentions of abuse, murder, death.
The stones were placed deliberately, a winding maze stretching out of the cave's mouth. He didn't know if Deimos was the god or hero of his people's religion, but it was a vital part of his identity and one of the only ways he could think to explain to his father.
Hudson sets the last stone in place and grabs his bag, pulling out a paper house. "Hey, Deimos..." he calls out to the night sky. "Dad or father. I don't know what you want me to call you, but, uh, it's me? Hudson. Your son." He steps forward into his maze. "I'm not really good with words and I don't know what sort of ...offering  you're expecting." He continues on, winding around and into the cavern's mouth, swallowed by its darkness.
"I hope you don’t mind if I explain a few things first.” This wasn’t an offering of fear, because despite the fact that his father was the literal god of fear, Hudson didn’t feel… scary. Sure, people were intimidated by his stature and sometimes his skin color, or the simple fact that he was a man, but for the most part Hudson felt like a hamster in wolf’s clothing. “It’ll make sense in the end, I hope.” His heels click against the hard rock of the cave’s floor, each step accompanied by a soft jingle of the bobs of his spurs.
“My life's been... rough." He murmurs, licking his lips nervously. "The first five years my sisters and I, we were on and off the streets, in and out of foster care. Until we met Craig," he pauses and sets the house down on the floor between his boots. "It was the first real home we had and he was real nice, at first." Pulling his dagger from his belt, Hudson cuts the back of his hand. Blood trickles down, spilling around the paper house. "I was five years old when he married mom, and once that happened, it was like a light switch went off on him."
Shuffling forward, Hudson continues onward, a hand on the cave's wall to guide him. "I met Mr. Floyd a few months after that. Really cool dude. Taught me and my sisters a bunch of stuff. He's got a raccoon, Dipshit." Hudson pauses again, rummaging through his bag until he finds what he's looking for: a paper raccoon figure. "Mr. Floyd taught me to shoot a bb gun." He says, setting it down between his feet and repeating the process of cutting himself.
"We used to practice behind his shop on pictures of famous people. I got really good at it." He grins at the memory, finger gunning the darkness with a soft pew.
The grin slips away and he's back to wandering the maze nature had built into the mountain, a hand pulling out another paper creation from his bag. Calloused fingers rub at the folded edges of a gun. "Craig got worse. Mom didn't want to leave because we'd be without a house or food, which meant we'd get torn apart again... I was scared he might kill her or my sisters one day." He drops the paper gun, pressing the knife to his hand until he feels the sharp stick and the wet slick of blood again. Hudson lets out a hiss of pain. "So, I killed him. Pew!" Hudson mimics the finger gun motion again. "Right through his left eye."(edited)
The demigod grows quiet, frowning in the darkness. "The cops came and took mom away. My sisters and I ended up in foster homes. Separated." He pushes onward, the sound of ruffling wings and soft chirps from the cave's ceiling draw his gaze upward. Bats, he figures. "I bounced around a few homes after that, but the worst house was the Young’s. They used to put stuff in my food at night." His voice dips down to a strained, barely audible whisper. "I dunno if it was so I wouldn't fight back or if they thought I wouldn't remember, but---" Hudson's voice cracks and he stops, heart hammering in his chest. "I remember bits and pieces of what they did to me. Sometimes, I'll remember new things."
Hudson drops a paper cross to the ground, letting more blood rain down. A gust of wind that brushes past him, a soft flapping of fleshy wings trailing it. "Don't worry, life got better after that--- Some law got passed not too long  after that and me and my sisters all got to go live with my grandma." He drops a little bird to the ground and continues with his trek. "Then, Mr. Floyd helped my mom get out of prison and they got married!" A blood slick paper ring is dropped.
"Things were good for a few years. For me, at least. My sister Denver had a harder time," he explains. "Craig had beat her real bad when we were young; got nerve damage in her leg. So, she was in constant pain... and," with his bloodied hand, he pulls out a paper hawk. "She lost hope that it'll ever stop hurting, that the chaos in her head will ever stop without the heroin." Kneeling to the ground, Hudson sets the bird down gently. "I got selfish, started spending more time with a girl in school---my first ever girlfriend---and I was barely home. Barely around to see Denver, to listen to her, to be there for her." He draws a fresh cut across his palm, wincing as he deepens it, almost as if he were punishing himself. "She got into a car accident. Killed some wealthy white dude who was out biking and drove off."
For a moment, Hudson simply sits there, letting his palm make a mess around the paper bird. It was one of the best years of his life, but all the good and happiness he experienced seemed small and insignificant when held up next to the heartbreaking events that lead up to his arrest and imprisonment. "We lived in Arizona, so you know, my sister coulda been tried as an adult even though she's just 16 and if that'd happened, then she woulda ended up on death row." A tear streams down his cheek. "So, I took the fall. I got that trial and ended up with that sentencing. She went to rehab, about four times. Then she overdosed five years later. I wasn't there for her again. I couldn't even attend her funeral.”
He sniffs back the avalanche of snot threatening to break free. "Prison sucked. Got stuck in the system for eight years, but thanks to a bunch of laws, my sentence was reduced to life in prison, then reduced again, and then commuted." He hisses as he pushes himself up off the cavern floor and presses onward. "Bounced around between jobs, bought my first house," if a mobile home counted as a house. "I was pretty active in the local anarchist community, and then uh, well, I ran for a city council seat... and I won."
He feels out the paper creations in his hand, and tosses the one he was fairly certain was a rainbow. "I jokingly proposed we legalize gay marriage in the city... as a publicity stunt for gay tourism, and uh... well, my bill passed." He lets out a laugh. "Yeah, the state government sued and apparently, that was the nail in the coffin for it to get bumped up to the Supreme Court." There's pride radiating off him. "Funny, huh? Bunch of scared old geezers suing us because they're afraid other cities in the state would copy cat and they'd be known as a gay state... well, their fear backfired on them real hard."
This was dragging on, and while he knew gods technically had all the time in the world, he suspected they also had the shortest attention spans in the world. "I met the love of my life a few years back," his grin softens into a pained smile. "Gideon, he's the most beautiful man I've ever met. He swept me off my feet with just a smile.” The lawyer was all sharp edges, cool as a cucumber, but there was a softness in his gaze when he looked at Hudson. Even his touches were soft, handling the demigod as if he were a delicate work of art. Hudson had never felt so cherished in his 30 years, and it hurt to think he might never experience that again.
“Dude was a cop---well, a prosecutor, which is just a cop with a college degree. He didn’t want to be one, he wanted do civil rights stuff, but his dad wouldn’t let him. It got him killed---he got him killed." The memory of him trying to stop Gideon from bleeding out comes rushing back to him. He sinks to the ground, a paper daffodil and  heart  in hand and simply breathes. Moments pass in silence before he speaks again. “I’m not telling you this so you feel bad for me. Life isn’t life without a bit of pain.” Granted Hudson had a whole lot more than a bit. “I just wanted to show you that no matter how many times my life went to shit, I kept at it and I’ll keep fighting because I have hope.” Hope that he could beat whatever evils that threaten them. Hope that he can make the world a better place. And hope that he can get Gideon back, no matter what it’ll cost him.  He sets the last two of his paper creations down. “That’s what I’m offering.” He lets his head fall back against the hard cavern walls, staring up at the squeaking abyss above him. “I won’t stop no matter how hard it gets.” Suffering and hope went hand in hand. You couldn’t have one without the other. “I promise.”
A trail of  blood, sweat, tears, and fears turned into hope.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey mate, we're just about to head out, but uh, come in." Ben rubbed his hand over his tired, drained features as he pulled the door open wide enough for Joe to enter the house.
He hadn't spoken to Joe for about three days or so now and with everything happening with Ella, Ben hadn't had much time to talk to anyone or contact anyone. All he had done was call his parents yesterday from the hospital when they found out what was happening with Ella. Ben hadn't even gotten round to telling Joe or any of his other close friends that Ella had now gotten a fractured leg.
Ben watched Joe practically jump inside the house and spin round to face him just as he closed the front door.
He and (Y/n) were about to go back out to the hospital and see Ella and hopefully try and talk to a different doctor, one who would be less condescending and more understanding. They wanted to talk to a doctor about why this is happening and see about bringing Ella back home in a few days when she was a bit better because at this point Ben was refusing to talk to Doctor Harris who had been less than polite the past two times they had seen him.
"I came to check on how you were both doing... are you going to see Ella?" Joe seemed rather jumpy and on edge to Ben which was very unusual. Joe could be enthusiastic and a lot of the time he was excited and impatient, but he was never this kind of worried and jittery like something was wrong.
Ben folded his arms over his chest as he leaned against the bannister, a look of confusion on his face as he took in Joe's words. How did Joe know that Ella wasn't here? Only Ben and (Y/n)'s parents knew that Ella was in the hospital and Joe didn't talk to either of their families. And why would he think to come and check up on them? He had talked to Ben three days ago and Ben had told him that they were doing okay with Ella being out of the hospital at the time.
"How do you know Ella isn't here?" Ben tried his best not to sound rude or suspicious but he couldn't help but feel nervous about how Joe seemed to think something was wrong and know Ella wasn't in the house.
"You... you haven't seen the articles, o-or the tweets?" Joe's whole face dropped as his shoulders sagged like he had a weight pressing down on him.
He thought Ben would have seen the few articles online and the tweets that were trending and exploding on the internet right now. He knew Ben was mainly only on Instagram right now and he didn't usually go on twitter or anything else but he thought Ben would have seen something. Ben tried to stay away from anything online that included him because even though he loved seeing the nice comments about him and his work, he got hung up on the negatives out there on social media. So he tended to stay a hermit when it came to the media, but Joe thought he would have heard about this.
"What are you talking about? Is there something online about Ella?" There was a clear tone of worry in Ben's voice as he felt like his stomach was suddenly doing summersaults.
Was there someone online involving Ella? Had people been talking about her, did a lot of people know she was in the hospital?
Ben had talked to (Y/n) when she got pregnant and they decided he wasn't going to post anything about the baby online. Ben was in a few well-known movies now so he was going to be known, he didn't really like the thought of everyone knowing things about his personal life. He didn't want fans or just random people online knowing he went to scans or knowing if he was having a girl or a boy or knowing his daughter's birthday. He had said in one interview for 6 Underground that he and his girlfriend were expecting a baby but he didn't go into any specifics.
He knew there was at least one photo online with him cradling Ella to his chest when he went out with her once during the first week of her being born but that was it. All people knew was that he had had his baby, they didn't know anything about her.
"I thought you would have known... there's a few articles published last night, someone must have seen you at the hospital last night. They've revealed her name and that she's been hurt." Joe pulled his phone from his pocket and scrolled through an app for the right article that he had woken up to this morning. As soon as he had read through it he checked the rest of social media and found a lot of people were now interested and getting involved when it was none of their business.
He thought it would be better if he talked to Ben in person about this and now he knew he had made the right choice.
When Joe handed the phone over to Ben, he could have sworn the blond stopped breathing altogether as his eyes skimmed over the words and sentences put together in the article that could only find the one photo online of Ben cradling Ella to his chest.
A fire ignited in Ben's chest as he scrolled down and read the next article that virtually said the same thing. The more he scrolled, the more tweets he found that varied in what they were saying but the only consistent thing was that there was no scrap of truth in anything that he was seeing.
How did people know about Ella?
Why were they saying this about them all?
"I need to call my manager, get these taken off the internet." Ben thrust the phone back at Joe with such a damaged expression that it made Joe want to burst into tears. He knew the internet could be spiteful, he had had his fair share of trolling and unfair remarks or articles but Ben didn't need nor deserve this right now.
"What happened?"
"I don't know. We took her to the hospital yesterday and they said now she's fractured her leg... Joe something's happening to her and I don't know what to do." Finding out Ella had a broken collar bone was bad enough, but to find that she now had a fractured leg was even worse because this had happened in less than a month of Ella being born. Ben didn't know what he could do to help his baby girl and he didn't know what on Earth was happening to her.
When anyone apart from (Y/n) had held Ella Ben had watched them like a hawk, he had eagle eyes on them to make sure they weren't too rough or careless with his daughter. He made sure that they were gentle and caring with her and she hadn't suddenly burst into tears or wailed at anyone holding her and no one had dropped her or had any accidents with her.
Ben had no clue what was happening with his girl.
"Is... is anything the article says, true?" Joe regretted the words the moment they passed through his lips when he saw the look on Ben's face.
His eyes blazed with a kind of fire that Joe knew was consuming and his face was hardening like setting stone. How could Joe even think that, let alone have the guts to ask him it? Anything in that article was speculation that was based on false facts and bullshit in Ben's opinion, there was no truth in it whatsoever.
"Are you shitting me right now?" Ben could feel his chest rising and falling at a rapid pace as he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Joe was his friend, they had been close for over a year now and Ben thought he would be able to confide in Joe about anything. But if Joe believed everything he read on the internet then it was going to cause a rift between them because the article held no truth.
"Ben I-"
"What, you think I could actually hurt Ella? Joe, she's my daughter and she's not even one month old yet! I have not broken her collar bone and I have not fractured her leg and if you believe I could then get the fuck out of my house."
Someone had clearly told whoever wrote the article that Ella was in the hospital and they managed to find out her name and what she was in the hospital for. Ben knew how bad it was that his baby girl had those injuries but he couldn't believe that people had gone to the extent as to speculate that Ben had physically hurt Ella and had caused her injuries. The vile article stated that Ben had been looking stressed and 'someone' had claimed he had anger issues which was not the case.
People who read the article were now on twitter claiming either that Ben may have hurt Ella or a few people were stating that he never could. But he didn't want people stood in his corner backing him up, he wanted this to stop. No one should be interfering with his life and they shouldn't even be getting involved or taking sides because there was no side to take.
Something had happened to Ella but Ben was not abusing her, he hadn't done this to her.
"Hey, I never said that! I don't believe for one moment you would do that on purpose because I know you, Ben."
"So you think I did it by accident? Or that (Y/n) did it because no one out there knows who she is and therefore she's dodgy?" (Y/n) wasn't in the public eye other than the few times people had snapped photos of her and Ben on a night out. No one knew what job she had, how old she was, where she lived, they knew nothing about her and that was how (Y/n) liked it. But because no one on the internet knew about her, they were now assuming she was suspicious too and that she could have hurt her own daughter just because they didn't know anything about her.
"No! But you can't tell me you don't have a temper like the rest of us. What about that guy you had a fight with a few months back?" Joe wasn't implying Ben hurt Ella or that he did it on purpose. Joe wasn't even sure Ben was capable of doing anything of the sort by accident.
But he had to admit that Ben had a broad frame and build, he could easily hurt someone without realising or meaning to, especially a baby with fragile bones. And Ben had a temper on rare occasions. He wasn't hot-headed, he didn't have road rage and he didn't go around shouting or swearing at people but if it was someone personal or close to home, Ben could have a temper and that was only human. Joe knew as well as the next man that every person was capable of having a temper and it wasn't a bad thing. But Ben had had a few fights in his time.
"(Y/n) was five months pregnant and that dick pushed her into a table, what did you expect me to do?" Ben would admit he had a right temper that day Joe was referring to but he had every right. They had been out with friends and a random stranger thought it was okay to push and knock her into a table without even saying sorry and he thought it was something to smile about. Ben wasn't just going to say that was fine, he had argued with the guy before throwing a few punches because he could have hurt (Y/n).
"You broke his nose-"
"That was a guy who pushed a pregnant lady, okay that was a dick who deserved more than a broken nose. Ella is my baby girl who has been in immense fucking pain these past few weeks. I would never hurt her and I know how to look after her so this was not an accident that happened because of me or (Y/n)."
Tipping his head down, Ben dragged his fingers through his hair as he hoped (Y/n) was still in the shower and couldn't hear their conversation. He didn't want her to worry right now. They just needed to get to the hospital and see how Ella was doing and find a different doctor. They didn't need this hanging over their heads and making everything worse. Ben would call his manager after they saw Ella and he would get this all cleared up, no problem.
"I think you should leave." Ben dug his short nails into his hip as he stared at his feet, indicating for Joe to leave. If he thought Ben could be responsible for this then he was not a friend of Ben's and he was not someone Ben wanted to be around.
Ben didn't need any of this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey mum." (Y/n) spoke weakly but she tried to lift her voice as her eyes set on her mother sat watching over Ella. Ben's parents had come down last night to see them and Ella and now (Y/n)'s mum was here keeping watch over Ella for the time being.
The newborn was rather peaceful today which Ben guessed was because of the medication they had put her on. She wasn't in an incubator and she wasn't as ill as the other newborns in this room which was a good sign. Technically she was only in here for observation to check her leg was alright and was going to heal properly so they should be able to take her home in a few days.
The couple stood on the other side of the small box-like bed Ella was laid on, all their eyes focusing on the little girl with bright green eyes that were tiredly looking up at them all.
Ella was too small and too young to have a proper cast on her leg so they had simply decided to put a bandage roll around her leg instead and her arm was still pinned to her chest to keep her collar bone in the right place so it was able to continue healing. But she didn't look ill which was a relief, it made it easier to sit and watch over her when she didn't look sickly or as in a bad health state as the other newborns on this ward.
"Have you seen those vile things on the internet?" Marie's eyes glanced up and locked with (Y/n)'s but her eyes darted between her and Ben with a look of distaste that set (Y/n) on edge and made Ben's stomach drop.
Marie opposed to their relationship because there was almost ten years between (Y/n) and Ben, she was only nineteen. But when (Y/n) got pregnant her mother had tried her best to be civil with Ben because it was clear he wasn't going anywhere and they had been on rather good terms lately. She had gotten along with him because he was a genuinely nice person and easy going.
But if she had read those articles then it was clear she was going to believe them and he dead set against Ben like she had been in the beginning.
"No, why? What things?" (Y/n) turned to look at Ben but the grave expression on his face gave away that he knew something she didn't. "Ben?" She felt his hand tightening around her own as he tried to shake his head to dismiss the subject but Marie seemed to glare at him worse.
"Marie, people know who I am. They get a rise out of making this stuff up, don't believe everything you read on there." Ben was getting to be well known now and that meant that people liked to know every inch of his life and what he did and where he went. If there was gossip to be made out of his life, they would create it at his own expense.
"What things, Ben what have people been saying?" (Y/n) tugged on his hand to get his attention but he didn't look at her.
"They think he's done this to Luella." Marie stated, waving her hand at Ben as her expression said it all. She believed what the internet said but Ben couldn't be sure if it was because she thought he was truly capable of this kind of evil or if it was because she just needed a reason to hate him so (Y/n) would leave him. Either way, she was believing the lies people had spread and Ben couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt in his chest.
"Mum you know he wouldn't do that, Ben would never hurt Ella don't talk about something like that." (Y/n) shook her head as she tried to dismiss the topic she couldn't even bear thinking about. She gently ran her finger over Ella's features but she just knew her mother wasn't going to let this go.
(Y/n) didn't care what was written online and she didn't want to know whatever the internet said. It didn't matter because (Y/n) knew the truth and if people really knew Ben or were real fans of his work then they would believe that he hadn't done anything to hurt Ella.
"Do I? I told you he was bad news and you never-"
"Fuck, mum he's standing right here. Go home... we're going to find the doctor." (Y/n) leaned her head on Ben's arm as he guided them out of the room. Ben wasn't close to Marie so having her turn against him like this wasn't something he was deeply concerned about.
But it hurt all the same that people were now turning against him when they should know that he would never lay a hand on his baby girl.

Chapter 5 – Cherry Cake
Summary: Sakura helps Sasuke celebrate his birthday!
Rating: M
Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto
A/N: I’ve been wanting to write this FOREVER! Sorry it’s been so long! School got busy, I got sick, and then the holidays rolled around lol. Regardless, I feel like this is my best chapter yet!!!!! Hope y’all enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it~
First Chapter HERE | Previous Chapter HERE | Part of Origins series
-
Onyx eyes slowly fluttered open to the scent of smoked fish and miso soup cooking. He rolled over, expecting to find his lover next to him, only to frown at the lack of her absence. Of course, she was by the fire, preparing food. Who else would’ve been preparing a meal?
The shinobi slowly sat up, wiping the sleep from his eyes.
“Good morning, Sasuke-kun.” Sakura smiled warmly at him, flipping one of the filets. “Or, I guess I should say afternoon.”
“Hn.” Sasuke stood up before walking over to her, “You woke up early.” While it was a statement, he meant it more of like a question. He sat down next to Sakura at watched the flames cook their food.
“Yeah. I thought it would be nice to make breakfast for you.” She leaned her head against his shoulder, “After all, it is your birthday.”
“Ah.” He couldn’t help but to lean into her touch; it had become a natural reaction for him, “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” A giggle escaped her lips, “I also have a small gift.”
The Uchiha raised his eyebrows at this. Honestly, he wasn’t expecting much of anything – he couldn’t even remember the last time he received a birthday gift. Sheepishly, Sakura brought out a pair of his pants, pointing to a seam where a hole had previously been.
“I know you’re not really into physical gifts. So I figured you’d want something more practical.” She looked away, “I know it’s not much, bu-“
“Sakura,” His eyes softened, “Thank you.” He took the pants from her. It was such a small gesture, but one he greatly appreciated.
After the two ate their food, they packed up and continued on their journey. They were in a comfortable silence, when they heard a familiar hawk screech as it flew towards them.
Sasuke held his right arm up for the bird to land on, and Sakura daintily grabbed the note that was around its foot. After dismissing the bird, Sakura handed him the note. It had very familiar, messy handwriting.
      Hey Teme! It’s your birthday and I just wanted to wish ya a good one! I hope you have a happy 21st, especially with Sakura-chan! Speaking of which, I’m gonna give you a tip… Consider it a birthday present. You should try showing her some affection. Maybe hold her hand? She really likes ya, y’know.      Anyways, take it easy today!
  N & H
Sakura giggled at the note, Sasuke letting out a snort. If he knew that the two had been sharing a bed for the past 3 months, doing more than just sleeping…
The idea of what his reaction would be was highly amusing to the two.
“Well, we can’t disappoint Naruto, can we?” She chuckled, holding out her hand.
“Hn.” He smiled, weaving his fingers through hers, giving a gentle squeeze.
-
Night quickly arrived for the two, and they decided to settle in a nearby cave. After a typical dinner, Sasuke sat by the fire and watched the flames dance. A few moments later, once finished with cleaning up (she insisted since it was his birthday), Sakura leisurely sauntered over to him. She slowly lowered herself onto his lap, resting her hands behind his neck. She drew gentle, tantalizing circles.
“Your birthday isn’t over yet.” The pinkette teased him with gentle kisses around his ear, hot breath causing goose bumps on his skin, “And I really like you, yknow.” She was quoting their friend with a smile across her lips.
“Is that so?” Sasuke settled his hand on her rear, drawing her closer, a smirk on his own lips.
“Yeah, I like you so much, Sasuke-kun.” She pushed her hips into him on the emphasized word, “I wanna do things with you.”
His pants became tighter, “What kinds of things, Sakura? Be clear.” His voice was almost a hiss as she pushed against him again.
“Naughty, bad things.” Her kisses trailed to his cheek, “I want you take me anyway you want. I want you to make me yours tonight,” She pulled her head away so she could see the desire in his eyes, which was reflected in her own.
“Sa-su-ke,” She stressed each syllable, the last one going up in pitch, “kun.”
Before she could even gather what had happened, Sakura was pushed onto her back. A gasp attempted to escape her mouth, but she was cut off when his lips came crashing down on hers.
Clothes were off in a matter of seconds, practically torn from their bodies. Sasuke kissed down her neck and chest, his tongue flicking out to taste her skin. Her hands gripped his hair when his mouth enclosed around her pert nipple. His right hand gave attention to the other one.
Sasuke’s legs were in between hers, and she used them to relieve the friction where she so desperately wanted him. Getting the picture, he started kissing down her stomach, then past pink curls. He went to kiss her folds, but quickly changed direction and went to her thighs.
“Sasuke!” She protested with a groan, “Don’t be mean.”
“Hn.” He smirked.
“Stop tea-“ She stopped mid-word when he used his index and middle fingers to part her folds.
“You’re wet.” It was a simple observation.
“A-Anata…” She could feel her cheeks flush and heart race.
For good measure, he used his thumb to spread said wetness. He gently pulled his thumb away, a string of her juices following. “Really wet.”
“Please…”
That was all he needed to hear. Sasuke dipped his head and licked painfully slow – from her opening up to her clit. Sakura closed her eyes, and leaned her head back with a small moan. His tongue swirled around the nub just the way she licked. The kunoichi bucked her hips against him, urging him to use his fingers. He kindly obliged.
He could feel her walls tightening, signaling that she was close. Sasuke took his mouth away, causing a moan in objection.
“Sakura. Look at me when you cum.” He kept the pace with his fingers the same. Embarrassed, emerald eyes locked with black and violet. The two maintained eye contact as he continued with his mouth. Her hips continued to buck against his mouth, her breath in sync, growing high in pitch as she got closer. Sakura fought the urge to squeeze her eyes shut as the orgasm rolled through her body, fingers pulling dark locks.
Sasuke’s pace slowed down as he helped her ride out waves of pleasure. However, he never stopped. Confused eyebrows furrowed down at him, unsure by his goal. When he was positive that the sensitivity of her orgasm had faded away, he sped up his ministrations.
Desire slowly began to build up again, his intentions clear. Her mind spun as the intensity of his tongue mixed with the power of his fingers controlled her body.
“Fuuuuck.” Her voiced quivered as she pushed her ass off the ground, reaching for her finish. Sasuke struggled a bit as he raised his head with her, speeding up. Her nails danced between clawing at the ground and pulling his head deeper into her core. Ultimately, they settled with with tugging at his hair.
Breath caught in her throat, she unraveled before him for the second time that night. Her orgasm rolled through her muscles, and she laid back down on the ground.
Sasuke sat up, sliding his fingers out of her with ease. She was panting, chest still red. He held up slightly pruned digits, separating them so she could see the result of their actions. Her eyes met his when he slowly licked the juices.
“You’re perverted.” Was all she could think to say.
“Hn.” His smirk was devilish.
Despite her statement, she reached her arm out to him. Locking fingers, he helped her sit up. Sakura’s soft lips quickly met his, letting him know how good he did. As she slipped her tongue in his mouth, she wrapped one hand around his cock. He responded by moaning into her mouth, tightening his grip in her other hand.
She pulled her mouth away from his, their noses still touching. His lips remained parted, panting against her mouth. “Making me cum twice…” She sucked his lower lip, letting it out with a small pop. “I’m the one who’s supposed to be pleasuring you, y’know.” Her pumps picked up in speed.
“Tch. You don’t understand.” Sasuke leaned his head to the side as Sakura kissed down his chest, her hand still relentless. “Making you moan for me, feeling you tighten around me…” Their eyes met as her mouth closed around his cock. “It drives me mad.” His jaw clenched as her little, wet tongue swirled around the sensitive part of him.
His knuckles turned white as he squeezed her hand more. The Uchiha didn’t dare look away as she changed her movements to lick up and down his shaft. The way precum was starting to bead from his slit, the way her eyes looked up at him in the most sinister way (obviously, his words inspired a newfound confidence in her) … it was all way too erotic.
Sasuke released his grip from her hand, moving it to her neck (but not squeezing). He coaxed her back to his mouth. Though his thoughts were anything but, his kisses were gentle.
As she leaned back, Sakura’s hand reached out beside her to find her pants. Sasuke lifted himself up, allowing her to grab what she was looking for. With a smile, she opened the square packet and removed the latex condom. After she properly rolled it on him, she wrapped her arms around him as he aligned himself at her entrance.
Sasuke could tell that she wanted him to kiss her, but watching her mouth fall open with satisfaction when he pushed inside her was incredibly gratifying. It wasn’t until he was completely within her that he rewarded her with a deep, passionate kiss. He started with a gingerly pace, lazily allowing his cock to burry inside. When she pushed her hips against him, he moved faster.
The two stayed in this position for a while, their body heat, sounds, and scent filling the room. Feeling his climax getting close, Sasuke suddenly pulled out, causing a confused look from Sakura.
“Get on your hands and knees.” He was panting.
Blushing, she did so. This was their first time in a position other than missionary. She was both excited and nervous. He gently pushed her head down, so only her ass was in the air. Sakura turned her head to the side so she could look back at him.
Yeah… He’s definitely a pervert.
Though, when he slowly re-entered her, her moan was anything but innocent. In fact, Sasuke discovered that she was the perverted one with his next few pumps. While massaging her plump asset, still pounding into her, his thumb so-happened to graze her other opening. The gasp that escaped her lips caught his attention and he diverted his gaze her face, ready to apologize for accidentally crossing a boundary.
Instead, she was biting her lower lip, eyes squeezed shut. She didn’t look uncomfortable at all – if anything – he thought she wanted more.
To test the waters again, he ran his thumb over her pert hole, circling around it a few times. She responded by eagerly smacking her ass against him more.
Oh, she wants this? Sasuke retreated his hand and sucked on his thumb. Just when she thought he was done teasing her, the pinkette suddenly felt a second fullness.
Even though the Uchiha only went in to his first knuckle, the hollow moan that she let out echoed off the walls and went straight to his cock.
Before Sakura could comprehend what was happening, her walls tightened around Sasuke, encouraging him to move faster. High pitched moans and curled toes signaled that she was incredibly close.
Coil finally snapping, she dug her nails into the ground. The only reason why Sasuke pulled his thumb out instead of riding it with her was to catch his lover as her quivering legs gave out.
“Fuck, Anata.” She panted, “What was that?”
“Hn.” He chuckled, leaning over to kiss her back, “I could ask you the same.”
“Dirty man…” Sakura rolled over so she could properly kiss him.
“You enjoyed it.”
Instead of making a retort, Sakura snaked her tongue into his mouth. A strong arm went under her back to lift her into his lap. Instead of settling there, he pulled her down so he was on his back and she was on top of him. The look he gave her told her exactly what he wanted.
“Eh?” Emerald eyes went wide as her face flushed, “B-But I don’t know how to be on top…”
“I believe you said that I could take you anyway I want,” He smirked, thumb drawing imaginary circles on her hip, “Am I misquoting you?”
With an embarrassed pout, she pressed him back inside of her. Sasuke used his hand to help her find a comfortable pace that felt good to them. She started out with her hands on his chest, but ended up moving them to his legs to reach a better angle.
The view of her perky breasts bouncing, mouth wide open with gasps, almost made Sasuke unwind right there. However, as her legs were still weak from before, she couldn’t hold this position for very much longer. Before long, she was bent over him with her head against his neck.
Sasuke understood that he needed to move if he wanted to finish with her. Hand on her ass, his pumps became animalistic. He was quickly climbing the steps to completion, but knew that she still had a while to go. To speed things up, he brought his hand around to her pink curls and used his finger to apply pressure to her clit.
She clenched around around him, moaning his name. For the fourth time that night, she came around him. This time he joined her, with sweet grunts leaving his lips.
Completely spent, Sakura practically collapsed on top of him, causing his member to slip out of her. Sweat caused their bodies to cool down and their breaths eventually returned to natural.
“What inspired all of that?” Sakura nuzzled into his neck. His arm wrapped around her.
“You.”
She snorted, “I meant what you did with your thumb.”
“You practically begged for it.”
“Did not!” She sat up, pouting.
This time he chuckled, “Did you like it, though?”
Eyes darted away from him. Wasn’t the answer to that obvious?
“Sakura.” He grabbed her attention again, “Thank you for spending my birthday with me.”
Of course, Anata,” She kissed him with a giggle, “We should go to bed, though. I’m exhausted.”
Sasuke agreed, and the two got comfortable for the night, getting out blankets to keep them warm.
“Goodnight, Sasuke-kun.” Sakura closed her eyes, “I love you.”
He responded by gently tapping her forehead.

“I’ll let you in on a little traveling bard secret. The people who tell you not to talk to strangers are idiots, because the strangers have the best stories.  Just a few short years ago when I was alone in this land, I shared a campfire with a man of Doma, and he told me a story the likes of which I had never heard.   And now, if you’ll permit me to put on my most respectable formal Doman tone, I’ll share it with you.  Might as well get into the spirit of the season and the spirit of Doma’s liberation, right? It’s called Mimi-Nashi Hoichi. I know that name doesn’t make much sense to western ears, but trust me, it will by the time I‘ve told this tale.”
It began hundreds of years ago, and its roots first quickened in the bloodied mud of the battlefield. This was not just any battle, but the final confrontation of two clans that had been at war for centuries, the Taira and the Heike.  The Taira had all but destroyed the Heike, and had driven the last survivors back into their ancestral home, from which there was no escape.  For, you see, it was on a seaside cliff, and the only way to escape the blades and arrows of the Taira was by plunging to a watery grave.
Domans are nothing if not proud and honorable, and after the Heike emperor fell in battle, what few remained of his warriors hurled themselves from the cliff without a second thought.  It is said that even the emperor’s wife willingly leapt to her death, with her infant son - the future emperor - in her arms. It is said that even the Taira were deeply moved by this sight, and to this day the abandoned and derelict palace of the Heikes still has a powerful spiritual presence thanks to the anguish and sorrow they suffered in their last moments.
The spiritual presence was so great, in fact, that the Taira erected a temple and a cemetery near the shore at the foot of the cliff and employed great holy men and women to placate the spirits. Just the same, strange things were known to happen now and then over the next several hundred years.  Fishermen say they have caught crabs with human faces, passers-by have claimed to hear screams and a great clashing of swords instead of the ocean’s roar, and others have seen ghostly fires burning over the graves at night. And so on.  Ask ten people who had been there, and you would get eleven stories, all of which could have been true, for all you know.
One of the holy men who presided over the temple was know to be a music lover, and in his employ he had a poor young bard named Hoichi.  Now, Hoichi had been blind since birth, but he seemed to have a gift for painting images in the mind’s eye. He had memorized the sad tale of the Heikes, and it was said that his gift for relating it through song could make even an eyeless demon cry.  When he sang and played along on his lute, one could almost taste the tang of salt spray and death in the air. One could see the crimson sunset’s light reflecting off of the beach, turning the pale sands bloody. Most heartbreaking of all, he could make you see the last moments of the empress as she and her son were embraced by the unfeeling and infinite sea.
But I digress.  Hoichi was not a rich man or a famous one at that time, but he had his gift of song and memory.  He also had the ear of the head priest, who ensured he would never have to go hungry or be at the mercy of the elements.
One day in late summer, the priest had to take his acolytes and travel to a nearby town to officiate the funeral of a local noble.  This left Hoichi alone, but he was content to have the solitude and silence he needed to perfect his art, as all bards are.  The heavy, damp heat bade him practice outside in the sea breeze, and the night fell gently around him like fine silk.
That was when he heard a man’s voice, gruff and commanding, calling his name. Hoichi! The young man called back to the source of the voice, politely explaining that he was blind and had no way of knowing who was calling for him or from where.  He heard the clank of fine armor as the man approached, and explained why he had come.  He was a samurai in the employ of a traveling lord.  The lord had heard about the haunted cliffs and wished to hear the tale of the Taira and the Heike‘s final battle.  He inquired at the nearest village, where he was told that the local priest employed a bard who could sing the story like no other. Intrigued, he had asked one of his loyal retainers to find this man and bring him back so that the song could be heard.
Now, in Doma, one does not take the command of a samurai or his lord lightly, and Hoichi graciously accepted the request.  The samurai was a strong, agile man and had no trouble guiding Hoichi down the path to his lord’s residence, and when they arrived, the air soon filled with chatter and the pattering of many feet.  He was greeted with warmth and grace by the servants of the household, who led him into their noble house.  He discerned that it must be quite palatial, as he walked for quite a time on a floor of polished wood before he was guided up a series of stone steps, and finally into what sounded like a very large room, all awash with the sounds of rustling silks and the formal chatter of nobles.  He was given a plush cushion to kneel on, and at last bade by the samurai to sing the tale of the Taira and the Heikes.
As the warm summer breeze wafted through the room, Hoichi strummed his lute and lifted up his voice.  In a tone as clear as a sea hawk’s cry, he sang of the ringing of steel and the spilling of blood, the hissing of arrows and the roar of the sea. As he continued with the tale, he could hear faint murmurs of approval from among the assembled.  What a gift he has! I can almost see it! they said.  Encouraged by their praise, Hoichi began to sing with even more fervor, finally reaching the verse concerning the empress’ sad end. How she drifted down into the depths, dead but still holding tight to her son like an oyster holds on to its pearl. How her lustrous black hair spread around her like the fan of a sea coral as she and her child were taken by the salt tears of the abyss.  And then, the approving murmurs turned to weeping and wailing, and for a moment he wondered if he embellished a bit too much, as any bard does now and then.
Somewhat ashamed, Hoichi sat silently and hung his head, until the sad sounds faded and the samurai spoke again.  I had heard you were skilled, but my lord and I had no idea that anyone could tell a tale so beautifully! He said.  His praise for Hoichi was such that his lord bade the young man return every night for six more nights to perform, and would be given a great reward when those nights had finished.   However, there was a condition - that Hoichi tell no one of this arrangement, for the lord was traveling in disguise to protect himself from robbers and assassins.  Despite the condition, Hoichi graciously accepted this offer, and with that, the samurai lead him back to his temple.
It was nearly dawn when he arrived home, and the priest, who had returned late the night before, had merely assumed he was asleep, and wondered where he had been.  Hoichi of course kept silent, but the next night, his absence was noticed, and when he returned in the morning he was summoned before the priest and asked to explain his behavior.  The priest was a kind man and held no anger towards the lad, but expressed a paternal sort of worry for his safety.  Hoichi answered him with great reverence and apologized for his deception, and merely said that he had urgent business to attend to for a few nights, and that it was not necessary to worry. The priest was surprised to get such an answer from the normally sincere and honest Hoichi, and suspected that something was amiss.  Once Hoichi had gone, the priest bade his acolytes to follow him the next night.
When that night fell, the acolytes lit their lanterns and followed, but a fog soon rolled in from the sea, and they lost sight of him.  Though they searched down the path for hours after that, they found no sign of him. They had just begun to take the path back to the temple when they heard the fluttering of lute strings, followed by a familiar voice.  There was only darkness in the direction from which they had heard the song, but they pressed on, emboldened by Hoichi’s voice as it grew ever louder. The only thing that lay in this direction was a cemetery… And sure enough, when they crested the next hill, they were met with the sight of Hoichi, kneeling at the grave of the long-dead empress, enlivening the dead air with the tale of her sad end.  He was not alone, as the air around him was filled with balls of ghostly light drifting up from the graves and flickering like beating hearts.  No man had ever been so close to so many ghosts and lived.
Hoichi!  Hoichi!  They yelled his name, but he seemed not to hear them and only sang louder.  Finally, the bravest among them ran forward and seized Hoichi.  Hoichi cried out to warn him how dire the consequences of interrupting such an important performance would be, but he and the other acolytes merely carried him off as fast as their legs would carry them. He was silent and sullen as he was taken back to his room while the servants ran off to relate their story to the priest.  Though he had planned on maintaining his quiet indignation when questioned by the priest, the priest was angry and clearly very worried.  He had been so kind to him in the past that Hoichi could not help but tell the man his entire experience singing the tale of the Tairas and the Heikes to a visiting noble.
Hoichi, dear boy, you are in extreme danger! The priest said, and related to the blind bard what the acolytes had seen - not a man couched on a silk cushion playing for a noble assemblage, but a man kneeling in the dirt and serenading the dead.  He warned Hoichi that by obeying the commands of the dead, he had given them power over him, and that they would tear him apart on the seventh night.   However, he knew how to save the unfortunate young man.
As the sun began to set, the priest and his acolytes gathered their calligraphy brushes and a well of enchanted ink - much like the ink that the arcanists of our land use.  They very abruptly stripped Hoichi of all his clothes, and began to write the words of a protection spell upon his body. They wrote everywhere, no matter how sensitive the area, and even went so far as to write on the soles of his feet and the lids of his eyes.  Once this was done, the priest commanded Hoichi to sit outside as he had the first night the dead came for him.  Only this time, he must be naked, and stay as still and quiet as if he were dead himself.  This was the only way he could escape the curse. Deeply frightened by now, Hoichi obeyed, and waited.
Soon enough, the sound of the samurai’s voice rang out in the night, calling for Hoichi. There was a sound of heavy footsteps mounting the stone steps into the courtyard, and another call of his name, even louder and more insistent than before.  Hoichi scarcely dared to breathe, and he worried that even the sound of his blood moving in his veins or the sound of his fingernails growing might give him away.  The samurai grumbled, and Hoichi heard the sound of his lute being handled by someone.
Has our spell eroded his form away so soon? The voice inquired. But what is this I see?  The wings of some pale night-moth?  No, they are his ears, and they are all that’s left of him!  I will take them back to my lord as proof I have followed his commands, though it is a shame that the boy is already so far gone.
Hoichi nearly screamed as great cold fingers seized his ears and sharp steel sliced them from his head one by one.   But he remained silent, even as the blood spilled down his shoulders like an ebbing tide. It was not until hours later, when he heard the anguished voice of the priest, that he finally began to cry in great, long, gasping sobs.  My poor Hoichi!  The priest said.  How sorry he was that he had relegated the painting of Hoichi’s head to his acolytes, as they had forgotten his ears!  But at least he was alive, and the dead would trouble him no more.
Thanks to the assistance of a doctor, Hoichi recovered from his wounds, and the tale of his harrowing ordeal soon spread throughout the land.  Soon, people came from all around to hear his songs and stories.  And though he became a wealthy man and lived the rest of his life in peace, he was forever known as Mimi-Nashi Hoichi, which means…
Hoichi the Earless.
((I’ve been fascinated with this story it ever since I saw it on film in Masaki Kobayashi’s Kwaidan. Annnd for some reason I got a serious hankering to retell it. And who better to indulge me than Fal?))

3 IN, 3 OUT – Body Blow – Seahawks vs. Cardinals
by fellow 12 Clinton Bonner
OK Flock… this one might be on me. At about the 19min mark of last week's special video edition of #3i3o I implored our beloved ‘Hawks to get out of the desert with a W any way we possibly could. I failed to request to the Hawkra gods that we leave the greater Phoenix area intact… So, I'm administering a self-enforced #DoBetter and asking for a cleansing of our collective Hawkra. I needed to get that off my chest Flockers!!!
With that, this game certainly had it's INs and OUTs… and hey, we got the W, and hey… we are 6 – 3… and hey, we still have one Russell Carrington Wilson! So, all is not lost Flock, let's demand some bacon as we make lemonade outta some of these lemon, shall we?
Deion says, “If you ball, you get the call.” … I think he stole that from us TBH. Because, when we WIN we start with an IN, so let's have it!
IN – Legion of Whom?
First, let's thank Richard Sherman for all he has given to our franchise over the last 7 years. We may even take Big Perm, Big Sherm for granted as crazy as that sounds. He, along with Earl Thomas (yeah #29!!!), are 1st ballot HoF-ers. Big Sherm, you know the Flock loves you… Heal as quickly as you can and we'll see you back on the field in 2018. From every single #12, thank you #25 !!! Hey Seahawks, why don't we dedicate the rest of this year to Sherman… what do we say???
Here's the bottom line. You don't replace Richard Sherman, you learn to play your best football without him. In a Thursday Night tilt that didn't have a lot to offer in terms of enjoyment (we'll get into that in a bit), and with no Earl Thomas on the field for the 2nd straight week, others needed to step up.
This IN is a comic book meal-deal where the IN love gets spread around to a few unlikely heroes.
We all know the X-Men… but remember those a'ight off-shoots like X-Factor, X-Force, and the New Mutants? The Legion of Whom?… is bringing us some new heroes we need to recognize are ready for the primetime love.
1st, McDougald played a very, very solid game. This ‘sneaky good' signing in the offseason was one the boys from the pod talked about in the dog days of August. IMO, McDougald starts at Safety on 2/3rds of other NFL rosters. With Earl literally learning how to walk again in the off-season, McDougald has been a great signing, contributing on ST and playing solid Seahawks football as part of a banged-up LOB. Hat tip to you Bradley… Dilly, Dilly !!!
2nd – Shaq continues his ascent to stardom. If Sherman has to go all Professor X for a few months, then it's time for #26 to step into the Action Green limelight and emerge as our next LOB super hero.
3rd – Kam… OK, he's not new, but he deserves the love here because in a game where Earl was on the sidelines, Kam stood out and had his most impactful game of the year. No Cardinals reception went without a punishing hit from Kam and his presence as a 4th LB during run downs was seen over and over and over again, including his safety-inducing tackle to put our ‘Hawks up 9 – 7 in quarter 2! In a match where the LOB was more than just dinged… the Dark Knight stepped up and made sure we got out of that building with the W.
While we all can surely name multiple members of the X-Men, let's not forget that off-shoots like the New Mutants brought us brand new heroes …
… Right now some of these members might be known as the Legion of Whom? But history tells us, they are ready to step up and step into the natural evolution of the one, the only… Legion of Boom!!! Shaq, your time to shine kid!
OUT – Terrible REFerences
Sorry Flockers… I know nobody wants to read about some poor old sot bi$%h*%^ about the refs, but this goes deeper than our ‘Hawks losing a game… obviously we won.
The point here is that this game should NEVER have been close. Of course some of that is on our offense that can't run block at all, but the ONLY way the Cardinals were allowed to stay in this game was via terrible, terrible defensive penalties called against our ‘Hawks in the first half.
PIs, Hands to the Face, and other calls that simply were complete and utter #FakeNews ‘sustained' 2 Cardinals drives, kept our defense on the field for approximately 10 extra minutes in the 1st half, and ultimately lead to this game being close deep into the 3rd quarter.
Calls like this are an abomination to the sport …
Here's the pass interference penalty that extended ARI's drive on 3rd down and led to only ARI points. If this is pass interference, how are players supposed to play defense? http://pic.twitter.com/Dxmj2hNz7i

Now you might be saying Flock… so what? We still won… Yes, we won in spite of a disgusting display by the NFL, but my anger flows downstream a bit more than just the game.
This was the type of game that should have been an absolute blowout by the mid-3rd quarter where the Cardinals, maybe, would have scratched together 3 points at that time.
The refs (combined with some offensive ineptitude) kept the Cardinals in this game. This kept our defense on the field deep, deep into the match and IMO directly lead to the batch of injuries we witnessed our defense suffer.
The mob has turned on TNF in general… I don't love these color-enhanced games by any means, but to me, it's a much greater/deeper problem for the NFL that due to terrible officiating, many games, including this one, are simply a bad product, and very, very difficult to stomach. NFL … #DoBetter !!!
OK, swing to the positive… we need it!
  IN – K to the J
If we are the X-Men, then KJ Wright is Iceman … and no, not Val Kilmer's “You can be my wingman” Iceman… let's keep our pop-culture references tight Flock!!! Mind you this is no knock to KJ, but on a team with Wagz, Kam, Bennett, Avril, Sherm, Earl and others… hey, we all can't be Wolverine.
KJ Wright was a monster on this day. I didn't embed this tweet above to celebrate Kam's 2-point tackle because I wanted to save it for K to the J!!! KJ blew up this play, clearing a huge lane for Bam Bam Kam to fill… and then watch KJ stick with the play until we were all assured that AP was going nowhere but backwards on this futile attempt to escape his own End Zone.
#Seahawks defense = brick wall
That's a SAFETY, and the second in two weeks for the @Seahawks!#TNF #SEAvsAZ http://pic.twitter.com/2j2l7dGpsn
— NFL (@NFL) November 10, 2017
This wasn't KJ'S only highlight by a long stretch.
AP averaged 1.4 yards per carry… 1.4 !!!
KJ ended up with 9 tackles on the day, with big tackles for a loss or right at the line on repeat! He may be our Iceman of the group, but dang KJ is a huge part of why we win… The IN to you KJ !!!
  OUT – Downright Offensive
This OUT will be short and sour. Germain Ifedi isn't cutting it. About a quarter of the way through the season our pass-blocking was starting to gel. Joeckel got dinged, we moved some pieces around and it's been a mixed-bag since. It's almost as if when Duane Brown took Ifedi's #76, he took Ifedi's abilities with him. Call it a reverse Spinal Tap if you will as 76 – 65 = 11… only this time, ‘going to 11' has resulted in Ifedi forgetting how to play football.
At one point both Ifedi and Rawls combined for 1/2 a terrible chip block, resulting in another Red Birds sack of RCW.
  Ifedi + Rawls = half a chip block???
— Clinton Bonner (@clintonbon) November 10, 2017
And let's not discuss our run blocking … because it just doesn't exist. Like I said: short and sour.
IN – The RedZone Barron
Jimmy.
Somewhat despised, certainly kicked around by many a 12… not me.
Look now… Jimmy is tied for TDs by TEs in 2017. He's ahead of Gronk, he's ahead of Kelce.
In our last 5 rumbles Jimmy has:
24 receptions
6 TDs
And perhaps most importantly … Russell Carrington Wilson is learning to hit Jimmy from within 10 yards and routes that aren't low-probability fade routes!!!
  No tenía oportunidad de parar a Jimmy Graham (Lleva 5 TD's en sus últimos 5 juegos)http://pic.twitter.com/qud2GurWt0
— Cobertura NFL (@CoberturaNFL) November 10, 2017
  As our schedule turns up down the stretch, we'll need Jimmy to be this big if we're going to turn out!
We hear you Jimmy!!!
  OUT – Just Beat It
Ooooof toofie Flock … 2 separate members of our O-Line ending up on the wrong side of the ledger in the same week against a bad football team… Que lastima!
But, the truth shall set us free… right?
Pocic has gotten a bit of a pass this season and I think it's been fair. He's a rookie who has been asked to play and practice at every position on the O-Line and when he's been plugged in, he's done OK enough to not be signaled out.
Well… Thursday night wasn't a good showing for the young Padawan. When Brown went down, I expected Tobin to get pushed around (boy did he)… but I didn't expect Pocic to be routinely beat on running downs… yet here we are.
Pocic is in year 1 and has been asked to do a ton… we recognize that. But Thursday he was mostly bad… let's clean that up and get prepped to take on the Dirty Birds at the CLink next Monday night !!!
  From the Flock!
Our fave section because it's all about the Little Flockers getting their opinions heard, word! Let's see what members of the Flock waxed poetic this Thursday night!
Ross Bell brought the VERY late night, UK snark to us all on TNF – a-thank-you Ross!
  The one plus to #skycam is watching AP repeatedly running in to his own blockers and/or Bobby Wagner #3I3O #in (I think)
— Ross Bell (@RossBell1984) November 10, 2017
  Well done Young Choi…
  DCH = Always Wise !!!
  The Pod and Ash combined to remind us all that apparently a catch, 3 steps and a fumble… is… an incomplete pass??? Once again NFL #DoBetter !!!
#3i3o. Apparently 3 steps after catching the ball is out.
— Ash (@ashthecuz) November 10, 2017
  1,2,3… What's Next!???
Dirty, dirty birds come to our house on Monday night!
Mamma Cleo likes our chances.
Mamma Cleo likes Dwight Freeney to get to Matty Ice and surpass his sack total all of last year with ‘dem dirty birds.
Mamma Cleo likes a more aggressive LB core to cause more pressure with Big Perm, Big Sherm sidelined.
Mamma Cleo likes Russ to carry the night in primetime.
Get the W and stay healthy boys… Go ‘Hawks!!!
