질문⠀and finally.. is kihyun close with wayv at all?

정답⠀while it’s still not exactly a home away from home, when KIHYUN’s with WAYV he feels just as able to let loose and let himself have the fun he wants as when he's with 127. they might not the very first place he’d turn if he was in trouble, or needed help (although he has gone to them for it a few times in the past), but they are one of the first people on his mind for when he feels like going for a night out to let loose, or to mess around in the studio for a few hours and see what beats they can pull out of thin air, sampling any and everything they can find. if DREAM are KIHYUN’s unbreakable bonds, and 127 are the pillars of support he never knew he needed, then WAYV are sort of a mix of both, as well as KIHYUN’s.. well, enablers, in a way.

錕 & 기현⠀───⠀KIKUN

kihyun attached himself to kun the second they met and refused to let go—figuratively, of course (although he has done it literally a few times in the past, and will likely do it again). he felt a similar sort of instant connection as he had with johnny, or niko, or mark. he admired and looked up to his vocal ability as much as he did taeil’s, but for some reason felt a little more comfortable to let loose around him, to mess around and make jokes and be as clingy as he liked without worrying if he was being annoying. kun was just someone who made him feel comfortable instantly, an easy air around him that then-trainee kihyun needed every once in a while to let all his worries about debuting or not debuting and all his shortcomings during the various lessons they were put through get to him too much. when he was with kun they could just talk music, or play card games, or on occasion the older vocalist would give him a mini magic show and then attempt to teach him some tricks afterwards. there was a little bit of a struggle with the language barrier, as there was with most of the WAYV members, but they made do most of the time, finding they enjoyed spending time with another even if they didn’t full understand everything the other was saying all of the time.

the younger vocalist considers himself one of kun’s biggest fans, point blank. everything he does (and did, back in the day and over the years) is met with the upmost support from him, both the things he’s allowed to share with the public & the projects he keeps to himself. if there was one member to rival the amount of personal merch and photocards he owns of the DREAM members, it would undoubtedly be kun. he just thinks he’s so.. cool. talented in everything he does, and making it look easy in the process. there isn’t a singular thing he’s been featured in that kihyun hasn't reposted or talked about on social media in one form or another, not one piece of group content where he hasn’t done a running jump at the WAYV leader and clung to his arm for the next five minutes at the very least. kun shares the same sentiment with kihyun, even if it’s not to the same physical extent. he’s supportive in everything the younger does, and is always ready to help with anything he may need if he asks.

their friendship is one that’s mostly stayed the same over the years-growing stronger, if anything. kun is one of the top people on his list he’ll call if he needs a second opinion, if he wants a little help, or if he just wants someone to get a meal with. it’s always easy when they’re with one another, never having an uncomfortable or awkward moment between them even if they’re just sharing silence. they’re a relatively rare duo to see on camera during official content, and are usually more brought up or seen (and occasionally featured, on live) on their own personal feeds. they’re another pair that have expressed wanting to work with one another officially in the future—and have already played around with some unofficial things together in their free time too.

เตนล์ & 기현⠀───⠀TENKI

ten was interested kihyun from their very first meeting, both in wanting to get to know him and also in seeing if there was any way he could be of help with his dancing. and while he wasn’t a mentor as such, kihyun thinks he owes a lot to ten for helping him in their trainee days—both by correcting him on the smaller errors that their teachers didn’t pick up on, and also for never making him feel bad about his mistakes, always reassuring him that he himself sometimes slipped up too. dance was the main thing they bonded over, slowly growing closer as ten did his best to support kihyun wherever he could & kihyun attempting to return the favour by sneaking the older dancer a few extra snacks from when he snuck out, or reciprocating every bit of affection he received tenfold. while they slowly began to not see each other as much as it grew closer and closer to the first official NCT debut, they still tried to keep in touch & contact each other whenever they could, and kihyun made sure to cheer him (and the other four, of course) on the hardest he could.

even after it had all calmed down after the release of THE 7TH SENSE, they didn’t get too much time to go back to hanging out, as not long afterwards kihyun was preparing for his own debut in DREAM. he was caught up completely in focusing on being the best he could be, and again their contact was scarce—save for the few phone calls they shared, and the sparing evenings where ten would catch him staying in the practice room long after all the others had left, and run through the CHEWING GUM choreography with him a few times before making him go get some rest. it took a while, but when everything had really slowed down a little, they made sure to go out for a long meal and catch-up all in one, taking a detour to a noraebang on the way back to sing their lungs out and collapse into helpless laughter over things that weren’t really all that funny together like they’d been wanting to for a while.

as much as he looks up to him, kihyun doesn’t really feel the age gap between him and ten. the older dancer treats him exactly like he treats kun, or johnny, or taeyong, and kihyun reciprocates in kind. banter and conversation and jokes come as easy as breathing between them, but also whenever one of them needs help the carefree mood between them can just as easily be dropped in place of a more serious one, where they try their best to offer help or support in any way they can. whenever they’re see each other for group content they’re sure to be seen stuck to each other’s sides at least once, deep in conversation about a new routine, or when they should next get dinner together, or whatever other odd topics come to mind that they can spin a conversation out of. they’ve always been close, and will continue to be far into the future.

昀昀 & 기현⠀───⠀WINKI

kihyun is jokingly referred to by many as one of the only members winwin can stand. while he does still treat the older dancer with as much affection as he does his other hyungs, he’s a little more toned-down about it—not as over-the-top as some of the other members, but at the same time no less genuine. they share a bond much like kihyun & yuta: quiet and not always noticed, but still very much there. they got close around the same time as him and yuta as well—it was nearing the end of the EMPATHY era, and kihyun walked into a practice room winwin was occupying, witnessed him dancing, and almost immediately afterward (despite the fact he’d barely held a full conversation with him prior to that evening, just sticking to polite greetings when they saw each other) fell all over him asking to be taught how to do what he did. winwin, a little overwhelmed, finally managed to ask for kihyun to stop trying to jump on his shoulders for just a minute, and then maybe they’d talk.

winwin didn’t feel like he was much of a help to kihyun, but the younger thought the complete opposite. even if all he did was correct him on a small footwork error, kihyun practically fell over himself in thanks every time. he said on more than one occasion that he considered winwin as much as a help as he did ten, or taeil vocals-wise. whenever the two were in the same room it was guaranteed kihyun was going to ambush him at one point and ask for a whole load of new tips and tricks to implement into his own technique and help him grow. other members joked a few times that the younger DREAM member held ten & winwin to a higher regard than he did any of their actual dance teachers, to which kihyun just shrugged (and never necessarily denied any of their claims). while they didn’t hang out all that much in settings where it was just the two of them, kihyun felt like he didn’t really need to sit down and have a one-on-one meal with winwin in order to truly get to know him. he felt like he was sort of learning more and more about through dance (even if chenle said that made no sense).

as of the most recent years, their bond has generally remained the same (although they have shared a few meals together since that time). on the off chance he’s feeling a little more lively when they see each other then kihyun will be all over the older dancer like he was the first time they met, calling him ‘boss’ and ‘teacher’ and firing things off a mile a minute about new routines and tips and covers and anything else he could think of, all while winwin stands there and just tries not to let it knock him off of his feet. most of the time he’s tempered down, though, simply greeting winwin with a hug and quietly catching up instead of going full-out. he’s always in the older dancer’s comments, always supporting him in any of his solo endeavours, and altogether the friendship they share is a sweet one.

肖俊 & 기현⠀───⠀XIAOHYUN

the pair of them met at slightly an awkward time. dejun was new to the company as a whole, a complete stranger to most and feeling a little like an outsider thrown in the middle of a tangled web full of people who’d already known each other for years, already developed connections & relationships and were completely comfortable with one another, and kihyun was seventeen and just starting to feel restless in himself, his usually ever-cheerful mood just beginning to fray around the edges. needless to say, their first introduction consisted of a stilted ‘hello’ and an exchange of their names between them, and then kihyun was turning around and leaving and dejun was left to feel all the more awkward. they barely talked after that, swapping little more than quick nods or looks of acknowledgement if they passed each other in corridors or ended up sharing the same practice rooms, and it went on to stay that way for a good year as kihyun fell all the lower down into the hole he was digging for himself, and dejun got caught up in everything he needed to do for WAYV’s official debut.

the way they only really got to know each other properly wasn’t exactly in the best of situations, either. it was early 2020, a month or so after the release of RELOAD, and after a night out kihyun didn’t exactly feel like he could face his fellow DREAM members, and so asked if he could crash at the WAYV dorm instead. and dejun really didn’t mean to run into his sort-of dongsaeng in their kitchen at an unearthly hour in the morning while the younger was half-asleep and half-hysterical, smelling slightly of cigarettes and soju, but that was just how things turned out to be. dejun kept him company until kun got back from whatever convenience store he’d booked it to, and in the meantime kihyun just sort of.. let everything spill, a little too drunk to realise fully what he was doing. by the time the leader had made it back he walked into the dorm kitchen and found a now fully-asleep kihyun hunched over the countertop while dejun walked paces up and down the tile ranting and raving about how the people the younger dancer was hanging around with were really no good, none the wiser as to how his only listener was stifling his snores in the fabric of his hoodie.

kihyun was a little mortified the next morning, when he woke up and it all (mostly) came back to him, but decided to take it on the chin and use it as a chance to try and actually make friends with the older vocalist. they had another long talk that day, got to know each other a little better, and even if the younger made no promises as to breaking things off with the crowd he’d found himself in amongst, he did promise that he’d try and look after himself a little better. from that day onward they were far closer, kihyun always making sure to give dejun a visit whenever he was over at the WAYV dorms and making sure to keep in contact over the phone as well. they might not seem it on-camera, seeing as the more heartfelt conversations they share they usually prefer to have when they’re not being watched, but they really are a strong pair of friends.

亨德里 & 기현⠀───⠀HYUNDERY

debut was coming closer and closer by the time hendery first joined SM, so they didn’t have all that much time for conversation past introductions and civil greetings when they passed each other in the hallway, but kihyun definitely wanted to get know hendery better, and a couple months after everything had calmed down he made sure to approach him and ask him if he wanted to go out for a meal sometime. hendery agreed, they skipped practice one night so kihyun could show him one of his recently-discovered (and quickly rising in the ranks of his favourites) barbecue joints, and they sat down and talked about everything they could think of until the owner was shoving them out of the door so he could shut up shop, and it was so dark they could barely find their way back to the company building even with the help of the streetlights to guide the way.

their bond was something of an easy one to simply fall into after that—they’d hang out in person whenever they could and talk over the phone when they couldn’t, making hours-long conversations over the most mundane of things and never getting bored of each other. they shared inside jokes that would leave whoever else was with them more than a little bewildered when they brought them up and proceeded to burst into laughter, and easy affection that could go from quiet and comforting to intentionally irritating over-the-top hugs and aegyo-filled voices as they squished cheeks and danced around with one another. whenever kihyun’s at the wayv dorm, it’s guaranteed that he’s in hendery’s room—and vice versa, on the odd occasion the older rapper makes a visit to the dream dorms. if one of them are out and about, the other is most likely with them, if one of them posts, the other is most likely in the comments spamming compliments and teasing remarks and the like—and the list goes on, really. if one half of the pair is doing anything, then the other is sure to be around somehow.

over time their bond has only gotten stronger, brought them closer together. they’re simply.. kihyun and hendery. a package deal, even if they’re in different units. a duo much like chenle and jisung, or jeno and jaemin. it’s not a proper kihyun vlog if hendery hasn’t suddenly appeared (even if it was for as little as a couple shots, or simply kihyun thrusting his phone before the camera to show messages from the older rapper), and it definitely isn’t a piece of whole-group content if the two of them aren’t messing around together—by putting on shows of over-the-top recreations of the latest drama they’re watching, or treating all the other members present to live performances of songs either from whatever album they’re promoting or just shared favourite songs in general, or even play-flirting up a storm. their one joint goal is to try and get some sort of official duo content up and running, but for now it’s still a work-in-progress.

扬扬 & 기현⠀───⠀KIYANG

much like with hendery, yangyang became a trainee too close to DREAM’s debut for him & kihyun to get properly introduced, and so it just.. never happened. but unlike with hendery, kihyun also never got around to trying to properly get to know him, and so they just sort of stayed at the half-awkward and half-acquaintances stage for the following years. it was somewhat frustrating for the younger vocalist, because he definitely did want to get to know yangyang better, it was just that he felt that he’d left it too long to start a conversation that lasted longer than passing greetings or brief small talk, or invite him out for a meal without it sounding awkward, and so he just carried on leaving it for a later date, for when he could muster up some more courage to actually talk.

it took renjun practically dragging him by the arm in the break between filming on the RESONANCE set for them to finally strike up a proper conversation, and even then kihyun left it feeling like he’d been stilted and awkward the whole time. they were closer after that, but still not a whole lot. he wasn’t so sure if he was intimidated of yangyang, or just thought he was cool (much like his feelings towards renjun in their trainee days before he got over himself and struck up that first conversation)—or maybe just a mix of both—but what kihyun did know was that he was determined to actually strike up a proper friendship with yangyang. soon. how soon, he didn’t exactly know, and he gave jeno a harsh punch on the arm when he relayed his dilemma and the older told him he was just putting it off again because he was scared.

skip forward a few years, and kihyun is glad to say there has been some progress. they’ve talked more, and bonded over music, mostly, but also video games as well (which, admittedly, kihyun got most of his knowledge of from jeno and then pretended he’d been a gamer for years when speaking to yangyang. to this day he’s terrified of gaming alone with him, though). a meal shared between just the two of them has yet to happen, but kihyun is again determined—and it’s something of a well-known fact that when he has his mind set on something he’s unlikely to let off until he gets it done. he’s still a little miffed yangyang is something of the only member he doesn’t really feel like he knows, but that only makes him all the more fired up to make sure they get closer than close in the coming years. the unreasonable amount of joy he gets when the older replies to his messages (or sends them to him first), or likes his posts, or mentions him in a conversation where he isn’t present, is immeasurable, and the DREAM members (jeno and chenle, mostly) have fun by comparing it to a child with a crush—to which kihyun firmly denies with red ears every time.

🧸 MARK — SOOLEE

you can always see the two of them harassing one another (mainly sooyoung bullying mark) and other times it’s just mark being embarrassed by sooyoung’s antics (and embarrassed he followed along) mark always blames sooyoung for being a “bad influence”, sooyoung blames mark for being a follower 🤷🏼‍♀️. mark can really bring out her sassy side and her soft side all at once <3 whenever the two of them are alone, mark likes to just talk to sooyoung about anything, he loves to just listen to her ramble. he will always protect her, and always ignores sooyoung when she says “you don’t need to worry, im all grown up!” 💔.

mark is a blessing and a curse to sooyoung. when sooyoung is feeling really anxious in situations, mark’s random and awkward jokes that make no sense always make her feel better. she loves hearing him trying to give good advice without knowing what he’s talking about, it makes her feel more confident in herself to let her irrational thoughts go. but, at the same time, when her and mark spend hours rambling, sometimes mark can go too deep in wondering and send sooyoung into a rabbit hole of stress. he always makes it up to her and talks her out of if <3.

a special moment nctzens adore :: *dream was vlogging in the US during their tour* sooyoung was attempting to order her own meal by herself, and mark was so supportive towards her! he gave her a big smile and thumbs up, lovingly pinching her cheek. off - camera, mark gave her the biggest hug known to earth!

🧸 RENJUN — SOOJUN

sooyoung ADORES renjun. she loves his controlled / quiet chaotic personality and how he can make her smile without having to say a thing. she loves loves to just spend one on one time with him just be present in the moment. when they are alone together, it’s just a mix of them being quiet and relaxing, and them sooyoung trying to get renjun to do something with her. for example, sooyoung was begging renjun to go grocery shopping with her FOR HOURS, just because she didn’t want to go alone. renjun was being so stubborn, but he eventually agreed because sooyoung looked so sad when he told her no for the 1021819 time. he is a sucker for sooyoung, and she knows it.

sooyoung and renjun are super close though! they love to take walks together or paint together, anything that can relax them and allow them to decompress. sooyoung loves loves to hug renjun and he pretends like he is only tolerating it but…his favorite hugs always come from sooyoung! but don’t let his softness for soo fool you, he WILL harass her just like he would anyone else, and his patience with her is CONSTANTLY being tested 😭

a special moment nctzens adore :: dream was behind the scenes of a photo shoot, and SOMEHOW sooyoung had retrieved a bubble wand, and was skipping around blowing bubbles near all of the members - renjun especially. everytime she came near him he kept giving her the side eye, and kept trying to take the bubble wand away, but to no avail. this girl had a death grip 💪💪. so, like most friends would, renjun CHASED HER until she dropped and let go 😭😭

“AHHH RENJUN IS COMING TO GET ME!! SOMEONE HELP!!!” …. “ARE YOU ALL REALLY GOING TO ABANDON ME?!?”

rather than tackling her, renjun just wrapped her in a hug and lifted her off the ground and carried her back to the backstage, plopping her onto a chair and telling her to “stay” like she was a puppy 😭. minutes later you could see sooyoung laying her head on his shoulder watching him play games 🥺

🧸 JENO — SONO

THE CATS OF DREAM!!! jeno is the black cat while sooyoung is the hyper orange cat…jeno watches in the distance while sooyoung inevitably creates chaos…then joins in. he always has a protective arm around her, especially in public. he is always worrying about sooyoung, if she’s feeling okay, if people are being creepy, or if she’s going to get hurt.

he will always make sure he walks behind her when they are leaving, ensuring that no one harassing sooyoung. he always holds her heels for her when her feet hurt, and even carries her down the stairs when she doesn’t feel confident in her pumps. he is sooyoung’s #1 defender…don’t mess with his demonic bestie.

a special moment nctzens adore :: sooyoung was running around the house in a 8CHILLIN episode, and you could just hear jeno repeatedly yell “you’re going to fall, sooyoung” or “YAH! SOOYOUNG!” … and when she finally slipped, jeno was the first to her side. he cradled her head, worried that she cracked it open, but only sighed when he saw the girl stifling her giggles. “oh sooyoungie…what am i going to do with you.”

🧸 HAECHAN — SOOHYUCK

haechan is constantly doting on sooyoung and sooyoung EATS IT UPPPP. she lovessss affection (platonically) and never turns away from haechan when he’s trying to hug her…she just pushes him away when he tries to give her a cheek kiss 😭 despite haechan being older than sooyoung, haechan is 100% sooyoung’s baby. he will always call out for her or go “sooyoungieeeee, im hungry” and sooyoung will immediately go get him a snack. she loves loves to pat his head and sit next to him because he is just so WARMM. she always calls him her personal heat box 🥰 she will do anything for this boy, and she will always defend haechan even when he is clearly wrong 😭

the two of them together though when on reality shows…CHAOS. haechan and sooyoung will team up and sooyoung is all of the sudden ALL FUELED and ready to FIGHTT. haechan will encourage her and he LOVES to see sooyoung be super energetic and determined to win or do whatever the goal is…he acts like a proud dad around her constantly 😭 the two of them as pairs will leave everyone roasted…but it will be a great show!!!

a special moment nctzens adore :: dream was at a fan sign event where the building ridiculously cold…and poor sooyoung was dressed in a skirt and a thin shirt, our love was FREEZING. she couldn’t stop shivering and she just kept moving around the stage to keep herself warm. haechan, seeing that the stylist weren’t going to offer sooyoung anything to atleast be a little warm, took his sweatshirt off so sooyoung could wear it 🥺. he also demanded that sooyoung had a blanket to cover her legs when sitting - because yk, sm doesn’t care 🙄. he felt so bad, he held her hands until they were warm enough and didn’t complain when she clinged to him to stay warm 🥺

🧸 JAEMIN — SOOMIN

jaemin and sooyoung have a veryyy special bond! the two of them have always been super close, jaemin was the first nct dream member that sooyoung got close to - and their bond just got stronger and stronger!!! jaemin always says that sooyoung is his boost of energy, and there is soooo much evidence of this. whenever dream are playing games and jaemin gets tired, all he needs is sooyoung next to him and her big, energetic smile, and he is back in the game!

these two can communicate with only their eyes, nctzens swear. there are countless of threads of jaemin and sooyoung communicating silently…and always doing weird stuff after. sooyoung and jaemin spend the most time with each other…so they know everything. everything. the two of them are always gossiping and spilling tea about eachother on vlive…which always ends with them calling eachother and fake fighting 😭

a special moment nctzens adore :: jaemin and sooyoung are so thoughtful of each other, they always remember everything about each other, and love to suprise eachother with things that they’ve mentioned in passing. jaemin once saved up his money for months to buy sooyoung locket after their debut, because sooyoung had recently lost the one her brother gave her, and she was devastated. so, he bought her a new one, and placed his favorite picture of dream in it for her <3. she wears it so often, and she has never changed the photo.

🧸 CHENLE — SOONLE

01 LINERS!!! BESTIES!!! even though sooyoung and chenle are the same age - chenle was timid to approach her when they first met. sooyoung was so bubbly and energetic, and while he was too…he wasn’t used to working with one girl out of a group full of guys. he always over anaylyzed his interactions with her because he really wasn’t sure how he was feeling about the whole ordeal. but - sooyoung understood. she gave chenle time and eventually, chenle warmed up to her after he saw how lovely she was 🥰

the two of them together…NEXT LEVEL OF SASS. chenle will try and mess with sooyoung and be dramatic, but sooyoung will NOT TOLERATE IT. she will 100% COME FOR HIM. they will bicker about everything, but it’s all out of love!!! jaemin is always saying “NO FIGHTING, NO FIGHTING”….which leads to sooyoung and chenle fighting more just to mess with jaemin 😭

a special moment nctzens adore :: sooyoung had bought coffee for all of the members - and surprised them all when they were doing a group live! sooyoung had two coffee carriers, her dance bag, and was trying to somehow hold onto her food bag without dropping the coffees, and as soon as chenle saw sooyoung he hopped up and practically took everything from sooyoung, leaving her with only her food 🥺. he also gave up his seat on the couch to stand so sooyoung could sit and be cozy 🥺

🧸 JISUNG — SOOSUNG

sooyoung and jisung are getting into all sorts of trouble, although it’s less of them pulling pranks on others…more just like them having bad ideas and executing them. when they were trainees and they were able to spend time at dreams dorm, they were always pulling all nighters together, then complaining when jaemin dragged their butts out of bed 😭

they are also BOTH SO CLUMSY. the members always joke that they have to have constant supervision 😭😭. sooyoung also messes with jisung so much, she will convince him that random things are true - and he will 100% believe her 😭. sooyoung always feels bad when he starts telling other members and they are just like ?!?, so she eventually tells him the truth

a special moment nctzens adore :: sooyoung was vlogging for her relay cam, and sooyoung decided she was going to go in jisung’s room to bug him. she expected to find him sleeping because it was like three in the morning…but this man was still awake gaming. so, sooyoung sat next to him in his bed and watched him, making fun of him when he lost. eventually (after ten minutes) … sooyoung fell asleep and jisung had to take over the relay cam cuz this girl wouldn’t wake up 😭. but nctzens LOVED how jisung gently moved her so she was actually laying down and tucked her in.

“nctzens…i don’t know where i’m going to sleep now….i guess the floor now.” poor jisungie 😭

❀ In those moments of uncertainty, when you don't even know if all your efforts aren't just a waste, Haechan decides to stick with it. Even if everyone has seemed to lose hope and he may be starting to lose hope as well...

He aimlessly traced patterns on her palm all the way to the centre of her hand trying to drown out the conversation outside the room. He really did not want to eavesdrop, but it wasn’t like he had the choice. The shouts were drilling into his ears like an unwelcome guest forcing their way in.

“As her grandmother I feel like I have the right to have her near before I won’t be able to see her at all!”

“Oh! Now you want to step up and be a grandmother? After shunning me for marrying a foreigner! You wanted nothing to do with me or my family and now we want nothing to do with you!”

“How do you know she doesn’t want me in her life? The whole reason she is in this hospital is because you made her feel unwanted!”

Haechan closed his eyes as if that would help him block the discussion. When that didn’t seem to work he let his gaze fall on Jiho. She looked like she was sleeping peacefully. Too peaceful to Haechan’s liking, but he couldn’t do anything about it.

“Eomma, I know I messed up as Jiho’s mother, but– I want her to be with her family in France. If… if she doesn’t wake up, I want her to be with the people she loves.” Jiho’s mother pleaded with her own mother.

“And what about her members?”

“Do not act like you care about them! This is only about you. You want to seem like a great grandmother, but you couldn’t even be a good mother.”

Jiho’s grandmother scoffed, almost amused at her daughter’s words. “Seems like we have a thing in common after all-”

“Just leave! Jiho’s coming to France with me and her dad and that’s that!”

Although it sounded like that’s where the conversation would end, the mother and daughter pair continued to shout at each other. Haechan could hear the nurses come by multiple times and try to get them to quiet down, but the two were in their own world and didn’t pay any mind to anyone else. Luckily Jiho’s room was in a more private sector of the hospital and despite the noise, Jiho’s mother and grandmother weren’t causing too big of a disturbance.

Resting his head on Jiho’s shoulder, Haechan continued to absentmindedly trace patterns on Jiho’s palm. He made sure not to put too much weight on Jiho’s shoulder or hand, but enough to let her unconscious body know he was there.

“I’m sorry you have to hear them fighting…” He mumbled tiredly. With a quick glance up, he saw the clock nearing the end of the visiting hour. “I wish they could stop as well.”

As if in response to his words, Jiho’s hand softly twitched. Her fingers tensed slightly, making the motion as if closing her hand into a fist before they relaxed again and returned to their normal state.

This movement would have Haechan jumping up, his heart rate would quicken, he’d be speechless before yelling for a nurse or doctor causing a whole commotion in this part of the hospital. If it was the first time he definitely would’ve done those things. He would’ve because he did. A bit over a week ago, that same exact thing happened. Those same exact movements happened and then he did those same exact things. Now, almost two weeks passed and Haechan knew he shouldn’t be excited to see her hand move. Sure, it gave him some hope, but after the fifth time, Haechan knew this wasn’t a sign of her waking up. It just was a sign she was still alive and at least not getting worse. She wasn’t getting much better either.

A hand suddenly appeared on Haechan’s shoulder and his gaze shot up to meet the green eyes that resembled Jiho’s so well. Jiho’s father — adoptive, not biological — looked at him with a soft yet sad smile. He eyed the clock and Haechan gave him an understanding nod.

The idol gathered his things and walked towards the door before stopping at the sound of Jiho’s father’s voice. “Thanks for continuing to come as often as you can…”

Haechan’s English wasn’t perfect but he understood enough to get the gist of his words. These past few weeks Jiho’s father often said a few words whenever seeing Haechan at Jiho’s side. Even when Haechan didn’t fully understand, he always felt the gratitude the father held for Haechan’s actions.

“I know the others are slowly losing hope… I can imagine it must be just as hard for you to stay hopeful as it is for me and my wife, but we thank you for visiting still. Whatever happens to Jiho… she will know you were there for her. She might not be able to say it, but I know she knows.”

A few heavy moments passed after he said that before Haechan responded with a quiet nod. That was enough for the father as he turned away, trying not to show the emotion in his eyes. He turned to his daughter, sitting next to her and fixing the stuffed animal Haechan had gifted her to sit snugly under her arm. Haechan couldn’t make out what he started whispering to Jiho — it was probably in French anyway — so he decided to make his way out of the hospital room.

It was almost funny how now that Haechan was in the hallway where the two women were still bickering and yelling at each other, Haechan couldn’t hear a single word. They were so loud when he was in another room, but now that he was in the same space, it was absolutely quiet. He bowed at them without much thought and intention behind it before leaving. The two women barely noticed Haechan go as they continued to yell loudly at each other. Still Haechan didn’t hear. He wished Jiho didn’t have to hear it either.

random/cute(ish?) scenarios and things with nct dream and jisoo ‧₊˚✧♡°

[Park Jisoo is a fictional (NOT REAL) member of the group NCT DREAM. She trained with them during SM ROOKIES and debuted with them August 2016!]

another disclaimer since you guys have a degrading kink: My acc isn’t ROLEPLAY, she’s a fictional character that im writing about.

Sometimes, Chenle will send actual ship video edits of dream and he sends one of every member with ANOTHER member (usually switches it up every time he sends) and he’ll say things like “i didn’t know you guys were a thing” or “how long have you guys been hiding” and whenever dream meets up as 8 again, it’s so awkward for them.. all except for Chenle.

Being around jisoo lead them to develop some of her habits such as tucking a piece of hair behind their ear, doing facials, painting nails, putting in hair clips and trying new hair styles, etc.

Now sharing casual clothes is one thing.. but 8DREAM?? you’ll catch them sharing pajamas and skin care routines

During Chenles “Daddy” Era where he changed his bbl name to things such as father, daddy, and my dad (so it would be like the fan is talking to “their dad”😭) and continuously referred to Mark as his son, Jisoo also became a victim to this but everytime he would do it she would complain so he never did it in front of the camera or on social media because he was embarrassed that she wouldn’t play along.. unlike Mark.

Jisoo and Jisung have a thing where every comeback since the first, either Jisoo or Jisung’s pc/pcs for that era has to include the other. It started during The First, with Jisung in the back of Jisoo’s photo card and it’s a very high priority pc!

They’ve been doing this every comeback since The First but for Candy they decided to switch things up and for one of the album photo cards Jisoo is making one half of a heart, and Jisung is making the other half, so when you put the photocards together it makes a full heart!

Jeno is known to get a little bit aggressive to the members (out of love) but when it comes to Jisoo he treats her like she’s a new born puppy. (Renjun also gets this treatment)

Jisoo’s favorite ship is Jensung and she pushes them together any chance she gets.

She saw Chenle’s edits and went damn.. 🤔

She likes to pretend to fall whenever Jisung and Jeno are close to each other and which ever one is closest to her she pushes them to the other as she “falls” (Something Mark would do)

The rest of the boys didn’t have to find out from Jisoo and Haechan themselves that they were dating because they had already knew..

maybe bc of the fact that he’d legitimately give kisses

The other members like to tease Jisoo and Haechan a lot and one way they do is when they talk to either of them they refer to Jisoo as “your girlfriend” and Haechan “your boyfriend”

Jisoo would talk about Haechan to Jisung and Chenle so much that they literally felt as if they were part of their relationship (poly relationship lowkey)

During one of the TDS2 stops, Jisoo found a sign that said “Jisoo and Haechan please give us fans a kiss!!” Jisoo yelled for Haechan to come over and when he read the sign she pointed to her cheek and then at his.

Haechan got the memo and kissed her cheek, the fans then started to scream and jump right in front of them. Jisoo blushed but then leaned up to Haechan’s cheek to give him a kiss.

As expected, they got the same reaction from the fans. Jisoo covered her face with her hand and then Haechan pulled her into a quick hug. After they pulled away, they walked away for their ment before Haechan stopped Jisoo by pulling her arm. It was another sign.

Except this time, it was asking them to kiss on the lips.

Jisoo mouthed “next time” and before they walked away Haechan gave a wink to the fans. They walked up to the main stage for their ment.

After what happened, the members couldn’t help but tease the two mercilessly.

“So, Haechan, have you been practicing your kissing skills as much as you’ve been practicing for the tour?” Mark teased.

Renjun adds in “Yeah it seems like Jisoo can’t get enough of Haechans affection right?”

The members all laugh but then Haechan comes to his defense and says “Hey, it was a sweet gesture guys. Can’t blame me for playing along with my girlfriend right?”

He leaned closer to Jisoo and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into a back hug. He rested his chin on her shoulder and all of the members just watched them in awe.

Jisung, always unassuming, asked innocently, “are you guys going to kiss too?”

This promoted another laughter from both the members and the fans.

Jisoo sneaked out of Haechans embrace and stood next to Jisung.

“Not now Jisungie, maybe next time.” She says as she goes on her tippy toes to pat his head.

a/n : hello!! welcome to my once-a-year upload piece /hj!! i say this every time i come back, but this time i feel like i might actually start writing more. i have so many writings i have been sitting on for my girlies (esp mila), and i am dying to share them!! please wait for me!!

a/n : im not even gonna lie i kinda ate with this photo like💅🏻 (JUST IGNORE HER HAIR PLEASE😭)

"hello, everyone, and welcome back to another video on my channel! this episode will be none other than the boys of nct taking care of our producer, mila!! not to be confused with mila taking care of the boys, however (which will be a future video). these are some of the sweetest moments where mila didn't have her angry protection face on<3 enjoy the video!!"

when the boys give mila their jackets🥹

so, we all know how much mila hates puffer jackets.

like, she will do ANYTHING to get out of wearing a puffer jacket.

except when it is for a photo shoot, then she remains our professional queen🥰

but mila would rather wear like 7 layers instead of a puffer jacket bc she is so stubborn😭

like same but is it really worth it girl???

and my gal is out here in like 4°c in her leather jacket and a hoodie trying to convince the guys that she isn't cold like

MISS MA'AM WE CAN SEE YOUR BREATH?? YOUR TEETH ARE CHATTERING???

i just know that taeyong begs her to put on a heavier jacket every day, but she never does

but on this day, mila said that she thought it wasn't that cold so she thought that her leather jacket would be okay.

turns out it was not!! she was freezing because it got breezy.

most of the other boys were fine with the temperature, even having their jackets unzipped

but when they saw mila getting out of the van clutching her already zipped jacket around herself, practically trying to hide in her coat, they all went 😦😦

jeno, renjun, mark, haechan, and jaemin all came running to her with their coats😭 (jisung and chenle were cold)

she laughed and tried to play it off like she wasn't that cold, even going as far to let her hands poke out of her sleeves and let go of her tight grip on her jacket, but as soon as she did, she was wincing at the cold and looking at her members for help

without hesitation, jeno shrugged his jacket over her shoulders and zipped it up.

jaemin then tried to zip it up fully and have her put her hood up, but mila stopped him because she knew she could not take pictures like that.

basically, mila is never going to be that cold again!! not on the dreamies' watch😡

making sure mila has something to eat🥹

mila has said this herself, i'm not hating!! but she is a PICKY EATER.

like PICKY PICKY

mila said that when she first moved to korea, she would only eat "white people food" because it's all she was used to.

"i only started using the flavorings of the ramen packs after living here for like 6 months"💀

she said that she didn't even feel asian because she hated all the food and didn't know how to use chopsticks🤧

but!! that was a while ago, and mila has gotten so much better!!

as a picky eater myself, i know how hard it is to go out of your comfort zone with food.

just the fact that when she was a trainee, she would have to make her own food and take that with her whenever the boys wanted to go out makes me want to cryyyyy

but now she likes enough foods to go out with them🥹

anyways, back to the situation at hand;

in episode 2 of chillin' in the dream 8lace, when mark and jeno get the punishment of having to cook for the rest of the members, they wanted to make bibimmyeon. when jaemin came into the kitchen to help them (and also to make sure they didn't burn the kitchen down), mark asked if mila would eat bibimmyeon, to which jaemin says "yes, she will"

this is because mila used to hate bibimmyeon!! fun fact~

this situation also happened in the beginning of the 6th episode.

the boys who were awake wanted tuna and mayo fried rice (which needs fried eggs) for breakfast, and jaemin, being the angel he is, remembered that mila didn't like tuna and mayo fried rice. so, when mark asked for jaemin to scramble some eggs for him, he easily decided to make some for mila<3

when jeno stopped her from tripping

this was kind of a shock for everyone imo??

like, it's not CRAZY or anything, i just have never seen mila have any other problems walking in heels before.

but whatever, she still slayed💅🏻

anyways, at the 2020 asia artist awards, nct dream won the award for best emotive award - music.

all 8 of them stood up and walked up the stairs to the stage. though the order left mila and jeno at the back of the line.

they were all wearing matching black suits, except that mila was wearing 6 INCH HEELS instead of normal dress shoes like the guys were.

and these were like STILETTOS!! super hard to walk in for no reason

now we all know that mila can walk in heels. we've seen her slay in some stilettos in the past.

but, that does not take away from the fact that mila has said on many different occasions that she does not like wearing heels.

now, since she already doesn't like them, why on earth would the staff put her in 6 INCH STILETTOS?????? makes no sense

anyway, as she was stepping up onto the stairs, she stumbled and almost fell backwards into jeno.

jeno, of course, being the gentleman he is, caught her gently by her waist and quickly got her back onto her feet. he then made sure she was steady up the stairs by holding his hand.

once they were at the top of the 5 or so steps, he linked their arms together and walked with the rest of the group to the award presenter.

once they finished that and went back to their seats, mila and jeno were also at the end of the line because they knew mila would need a bit longer to go down the steps.

jeno went in front of her and held her hand down the stairs so she wouldn't fall 🫶🏻

haechan getting mad about mila's sasaeng

woo, this one is already making me mad, and i haven't even written anything yet😡

so, mila's infamous evil sasaeng. the one that broke into the dream dorm and attacked mila while the members were sleeping. (a/n : there will be a fic in detail on this soon!!)

not much is known in detail about this incident. all we have is the account of the sasaeng herself and the statements that have been made by SM and the members.

but what we do know is that there was a big change in how the members treated her after this happened.

there was also a big change in mila.

mila went from being happy and giddy to being quiet and reserved for the first time in a while. this was not too long after her nct2018 hardships as well, so that made everyone even more angry as it seemed like she could never catch a break.

the members, most noticeably the dreamies, all became more cold for lack of a better word.

they would go outside and have this slight look of betrayal on their faces. they would not be as happy or smiley, they would tell less jokes.

everyone was just upset.

however, haechan was arguably one of the most upset ones.

as we know, haechan is mila's roommate in the 127 dorm. but, mila also has her own room in the dream dorm, which is why she constantly moves around and splits her time between the 2 dorms. mila has said that she stays at the dream dorm more often when she does not have promotions because she likes it better over there and she likes having her own room.

so having her personal space and safety violated like this in the place that she calls "home" is just disgusting to me.

haechan went on vlive a few days after the statements were released to talk about the situation.

"how is mila doing?" he reads before placing his phone down and covering his mouth with his hands while thinking about what to say. "she's okay. she's not great, but she's doing her best. she's been staying in the 127 dorm with us. she hasn't even gone over to the dream dorm since what happened." he pauses, looking down before taking a breath in. he looks back up at the camera with a low glare, not doing a good job at trying to hide it. "mila is afraid to sleep, hell, even be in her own dorm now because of you... i hope you are ashamed of the damage you have caused." he speaks bitterly, his words obviously directed at the sasaeng.

he ended the live not long after, giving a short message to please not wait outside their dorms anymore.

mila not having money on a show to buy ice cream, so doyoung and yuta buy it for her

just mila being the cutest once again, what do ya know.

everyone was buying treats and snacks on this nct life show but mila didn't have any money :((((

she was so excited to go into the store and get snacks, but then she just went 😯😕

she quickly tried to wipe off her frown and look around the store anyway, not wanting her members to think she was upset.

when everyone had finished picking out their snacks and were in line to purchase them, taeyong noticed that mila didn't have anything.

"mila, why aren't you getting anything?" he asks, a gentle smile on his face. johnny also listens for her response. "i don't have any money." she replies, shrugging. "aigoo, i'm sure we can get you something." he pats her shoulder before going up to yuta and doyoung at the front of the line, just behind taeil who was buying his items. "doyoungie, yuta~," he calls. "yes?" they answer. "do you mind buying some snacks for our miely? she doesn't have any money." the leader asks. their eyes widen. "of course!! you can get anything you want, mila!! just be quick!" yuta says, and they grin at her. she smiles and perks up. "okay!! thank you!" she says before quickly jogging back into the ice cream aisle and picking up an oreo cone, then she goes and gets some chocolate. she brings them up to the counter with yuta and doyoung's things. "you sure you don't want anything else?" doyoung asks. "no, this is okay." she smiles. they pay for it, and she is beaming on the way out.

jaemin, jeno, and mark all being attentive when mila stands up because she gets dizzy

a/n : you're just going to have to imagine that it is mila sitting in the first photo with a member in front of her and that there is no skateboard in the second photo

nctzens have thought for a long time that mila is anemic.

this is due to mila's repeated mentionings that whenever she stands up or even sits up in some cases, she feels dizzy, gets tunnel vision, and gets black spots in her vision as well. she said that these are her most frequent symptoms, but they can get worse, including fainting and having her ears ring.

mila has never confirmed her having anemia. the last time she spoke of the rumors was back in 2021 where she said, "I'm not sure if i have anemia... my older sister has the same symptoms as me, but when she went to the doctor, she was told she didn't have anemia. what i can confirm is that i have low blood pressure. i'm not sure why, as high blood pressure actually runs in my family, but that has been present since i was a child. and i have talked to a doctor about this in the past, uh... orthostatic hypotension? that's what she said my symptoms sounded like. czennies, I'm not exactly sure what's wrong with me but thank you for the concern!"

despite no definitive diagnosis for what happens to her, it doesn't stop the other members from caring for her well.

one key example of this happened in episode 6 of chillin' in the dream 8lace. mila was refusing to get up out of bed so jaemin went in to get her. he pulled her to stand up from where she was laying quite quickly, causing her to say, "ah, jaemin, jaem, jaem, slowly, slowly, slowly! i'm dizzy." quickly remembering her condition, jaemin stopped and helped her stand up slowly, allowing her to adjust, all while holding her hands in case she were to fall over.

though this was one instance that jaemin forgot about her condition, there have been many other clips of the boys watching her get up carefully.

most of the time it is subtle actions, such as the members simply keeping an eye on her or lending a hand out to keep her steady. they often let mila walk in front of them just to prevent the possibility of her falling with no one to catch her as she often tries to power through her dizziness, thus making her more dizzy.

renjun and chenle always being sweet and helpful when she tries to speak chinese

like my gal speaks 2 languages like a NATIVE and then has borderline fluency in 2 MORE, and is still trying to learn 2 MORE

though she often ends up thanking the fans in english (when mark isn't there) and in japanese, once mila tried to thank them briefly in chinese!!

mila has said before that she used to study chinese quite a bit back in 2016 when she was really close with winwin and chenle, but since then, she became more focused on japanese and lost time to study it.

she has always said that chinese was really hard for her just because of dealing with the characters. this is why she is quite good at speaking chinese but not good at reading it!

however, we all know mila is quite emotive when presenting and giving speeches, so her tones often fluctuate with her words. this was another issue for mila as she struggled to remember the tones of the words and tried to keep her voice at a neutral level.

yet despite all of these struggles, mila had been giving a short thank you to their chinese fans at an award show when she stammered and forgot what she was saying.

though this is totally normal for a foreigner trying to speak another language, mila is always super prepared for foreign language speeches, so she was caught a little off-guard.

her face went a little red, and she apologized before turning around to chenle and renjun on her left.

they were both looking at her with the cutest and most loving smiles🥹

the crowd gave some encouraging cheers as mila spoke to them for only a few seconds before turning back to the microphone and finishing her speech like a champ🫶🏻

it's just so cute to me that renle + wayV taught mila all the chinese she knows and how she's still so good at it

and how proud of her they are🥹

we choose to forget when mila was first learning chinese and renjun told her he was teaching her how to introduce herself but she was really insulting herself😭

mila is such a HARDWORKER!!!!!

she does not have credits on almost every SM release after 2017 fOR NOTHING

so, because of her tendency to overwork herself and prioritise work over sleep and her well-being, the boys are always the first people to let her sleep instead of waking her up if they need something.

it always pains them a little bit to wake her up, even if they are about to be late because they tried to let her sleep in.

basically, if mila is showing ANY signs of being tired (it could literally be rubbing her eyes), they boys are instantly: "PLEASE SLEEP"

so, when the dreamies were in a van going to a mystery location for a fun video, mila unsurprisingly, grew drowsy.

mila was sitting next to jeno in the backseat of this van, steadily growing more and more tired.

but knowing mila, she tried to keep herself awake, not letting herself lean on the window or on her hand. this lead to her dozing off while sitting straight up, her head bobbing down lightly.

jeno was looking at his phone, not paying attention to her.

until he saw her drooping head and was like 😶

he froze for a second before slowly and gently pressing mila's head down to his shoulder, sitting up a little bit so it would be more comfortable for her.

mila did not object. she was so fucking tired.

jeno was so proud of himself as he felt mila kinda relax into him and let more of her weight rest on his shoulder.

he looked up a little with a 😌 look on his face to see jaemin filming him with a grin.

no words are exchanged as jeno's smile grows, and jaemin chuckles quietly before showing a thumbs up to the camera.

now, while i'm sure all of the members would share their umbrellas with mila under the circumstance that she did not have one, we only have video evidence and jisung and renjun doing so <3

so, on this day where it was raining as nct dream were going to a schedule, mila did not have an umbrella

sooo many fans tried to spin this as mila being mistreated by the staff since all of the boys had umbrellas until another clip was released of mila giving her umbrella to a staff member

the staff repeatedly shook her head and refused, wanting mila to keep it, but she did not accept no for an answer and smiled big when the staff finally accepted.

some bodyguards around quickly tried to cover mila's head with their hands to protect her from the rain, thus catching the attention of jisung and renjun.

they both quickly came over, pushing their umbrellas toward her and not on themselves

mila immediately pushed their umbrellas back over their own heads and shooed them away.

they didn't let up and kept trying to talk to her for a few seconds.

mila laughs lightly and goes next to renjun under his umbrella, leaving jisung with a slight pout on his face.

"you're too big to share an umbrella!" mila exclaims, causing them all to laugh. the rest of their dialogue could not be heard in the video, this was the only thing intelligible.

with content expressions, mila goes under renjun's umbrella and they both put arms around each other; mila's arm going around his waist and renjun's arm going over her shoulders as they walk the short distance to the building.

nct 127 following the sidewalk rule

since the newly publicised "sidewalk rule" on social media, nctzens have brought up all the times that they have preached this before its popularity.

it's not seen as often with nct dream as every time they try (usually renjun, jeno, & jisung), mila just pushes them off and doesn't move.

this leads the boy to be very 🤨😖 because this is what their hyungs taught them to do???? why is she not accepting this gesture that the hyungs do all the time????

so, the dreamies don't really do it anymore, they just keep a watchful eye when she likes to balance on the curb of a busy road.

127 and even wayV however, are a different story.

maybe it's because they're older, but mila always listens when they guide her over to the non-road side of a sidewalk.

sometimes she looks a little 🤨 when her arm gets tugged away, but then she realises where she's standing.

most commonly, the members dragging her away from the cars are taeyong, johnny, kun, xiaojun, and doyoung. but there have been times where ten, jaehyun, and jungwoo have done it.

in the back of many nct 127 videos, most notably the ones where they are exploring the usa, mila can be seen being ushered away from the road by one or two of the members above.

it's just super cute and makes all czennies swoon over the neos' politeness 😵‍💫

the dreamies comforting her when she tries to be strong🥹

this day is not to be confused with the 191117 dream show ending meant!!!

a/n : lmk if i should make something that says in detail what mila said in her ending ment on the 191117 show!!

this was the first of the three dream shows back to back (191115).

mila said her ment not long after jisung did, so she was already emotional when it got to her turn.

jisung was crying as he tried to say his ment, so mila was already sad because she went to comfort him.

now mila HATES seeing jisung cry because it almost always makes her cry with him, so she was hugging jisung (not photo) before her turn.

she had intended for her ment to go a different route, but when it was her turn to talk, she just kinda let her words take her, not following her originally planned direction.

"aw... it's only the first day of the dream show, and i'm already crying ㅠㅠ i thought i would at least be able to be calm on the first day. but because of jisung~~ he made me sad ☹️." there is a brief pause where mila just looks around at the crowd with stars in her eyes. "but really, i can't blame him..." she looks down and swallows thickly before looking back up and blinking back her tears. the other members make various noises of teasing and telling her not to cry, some even coming closer, but mila takes a step back and laughs, telling them to go away. "no, no, i'm okay. i just need a second..." she flaps her hands as a way of shooing them, obviously growing more uneasy, stressed, and upset. with a deep breath, she starts again. "the members don't know this but," she starts, gaining the attention of all the boys. "before the show started today, i was crying in the bathroom because i was worried that this would be the start of our last shows and they wouldn't be strong enough... and i can't help but feel like it's my fault because..." she looks down again, this time for longer as she tries to hold back her tears. she doesn't succeed. tears fall, and her breathing starts to turn into small gasps and hiccups. chenle and haechan both come closer to her, haechan saying "aigoo, mila-yah..." and chenle saying something like "no, that's not..." and mila just taking a step back and flapping her hands to get them not to touch her. she knows that if she lets them comfort her, she will start crying. she wants to finish her ment first. "because i have had big inputs on nct dream's music, and if it's coming to an end..." a particular gasp leaves her lips with a small cry that reaches the microphone, making the crowd whine. the boys come up to her again. she tries to push them away again, but not as much as before. "...then i must have done something wrong." she cries, a deep wail leaving her chest as her hands come to cover her face, muffling her gasps but still allowing them to be picked up by the microphone. the crowd goes quiet, save for the growing volume of whines and telling her that's not true. jaemin pulls her into him, and she wraps her arms around him tightly, her cries into him now being picked up by his mic. chenle, haechan, and jeno are all around them rubbing mila's back as renjun tries to talk while comforting jisung at the same time, who had grown emotional all over again by mila's words.

in less than 2 minutes, mila had pulled away, immediately being met by the faces of her members, presumably asking if she was okay, to which she nods. a tissue is given to her by haechan and she dabs her face clean of tears while fanning her face. chenle helps fan her face, as well.

she keeps the tissue in her hand to repeatedly wipe her running nose as the others continue talking. chenle stays next to her this whole time with his arm around her and his head on her shoulder.

when mila twitched in her sleep and yuta helped 🥹

a/n : you're just going to have to imagine that mila is sleeping in the second one and not on her phone :)

it is a somewhat well-known fact that during stressful times, mila twitches in her sleep.

this info is not from sasaengs btw!!! mila has said this herself along with the members🥰

mila has said that she has done this since she was a kid and it usually means that she is juuust on the edge of falling asleep but not actually asleep.

this is why she hates it.

her stress prevents her from falling asleep when she so desperately needs it.

she will be drifting until she twitches and then she's awake again ☹️

so, when nct 127 were getting ready for a favorite (vampire) stage, mila fell asleep on one of the dressing room sofas while waiting for her turn for her makeup and hair.

in the background of an nct 127 fun video (like in the dressing room) she was waiting on the couch patiently when yuta sat down after finishing his look. she casually laid her head in his lap, which was nothing unusual (as we all know how much she loves yuta🤭)

she scrolled on her phone for a bit, not paying attention to anything and not being bothered by the conversations of her members and the staff.

eventually, she plopped her phone next to her face on the couch and closed her eyes, not moving at all from her original position.

due to her lack of movement, yuta thought that she was still awake. this was until the twitching started. yuta knew what it meant when mila started twitching like this, so he took a quick look at her, saw she was sleeping and leaning back in his spot before bringing his free hand to her hair.

he knew how much mila LOVES having her hair played with and how much it calms her down.

he softly twirled the strands and gave her head a light massage, instantly stopping her twitching and allowing her to sleep calmly before getting ready.

when mila had to be woken up for her turn in the hair and makeup chair, yuta pleaded for her to go last so she could get some extra rest in 🥹

when it was really time, and she had to go, yuta woke her up gently with a pout, cooing at her tired face

as stated previously, we all know about mila's low blood pressure. this causes her to become dizzy, faint, etc.

but there is one more thing i have neglected to talk about as i do not want to interpret it incorrectly.

and that is mila's history with eating disorders.

everything i will say has already been said by mila herself, her members, or SM.

mila has always had problems not eating enough throughout her entire childhood due to her dedication to her craft(s).

when she was really young and did gymnastics and dance, she would often forget to eat and just do acrobatics the whole day.

this is extremely unhealthy and dangerous as both gymnastics and dance are very demanding sports and require lots of sustenance.

regardless, mila has managed to take care of herself up until around late 2017-early 2018.

mila said that due to a multitude of things that i will not be getting into right now, she spent all of her time working in the studio producing/writing music or perfecting routines, and working on singing/raps. at this time she also focused her remaining time on her studies for her end-of-high school exams.

mila said that during this point in her life, she felt "guilty" taking time out just for herself. she felt like she always needed to be doing something productive.

food did not fall into this category.

mila would sacrifice eating over completing her schoolwork and idol/producer duties.

this caused her to experience a lot of burnout and to faint often because of stress and malnutrition.

though since then, mila has recovered, and takes care of herself (according to her and the members), she still has times where she can revert slightly.

like i said, she has been somewhat this way since she was a child, so it is easy to forget.

one big example of this was in early 2020 after a kick it stage.

this was one of those prerecorded stages due to covid starting to affect the industry.

mila slayed the stage, giving her all and doing her absolute best. you could not notice anything wrong when she was performing.

but after the cameras cut, and all that was left was stuff that would not go on tv, mila collapsed.

she was stood in her ending position, waiting for all the cameras to cut. she wasn't really paying attention, but in the video, you could see just how fast she was breathing and that she was swaying slightly in her stance.

once the other members moved and began to bow to the staff, mila's knees just crumbled, and she fell.

she landed on her knees and hands, her hair covering her face as she heaved in air. then she slumped over kinda on her stomach but still on her knees and elbows.

the other members didn't do anything for a moment. it's unclear whether they didn't notice or if they thought she was just tired from the demanding routine.

the first member to go over to her was taeyong. he looked a little nervous and kinda speed-walked over to her.

he crouched down next to her and moved to look at her face, moving some of her hair out of the way.

none of what they are saying can be heard, so all that we can assume is that he was asking her if she was okay.

he gets her to sit up and holds both of her hands in his. her eyes are closed, and she's still breathing heavily, obviously still really tired.

he asks her something else, and she shakes her head weakly before starting to slump over again. taeyong looks around for a moment before standing halfway up and pulling mila up with him.

she picks her up bridal style with mila barely clinging onto him as he carries her offstage. her eyes are closed as he does this.

there was a lot of fan uproar at this. fans were attacking SM for making her work so hard and demanding to give her more rest.

there was no response or acknowledgement from SM, the nct members, or mila herself.

when mila fell asleep on vlive

this vlive is actually one of my favorites just because of this interaction!!

it's just so sweet!!!

so basically, mila was on vlive in her shared room with haechan at the 127 dorm.

this had been after a day of schedules (we don't know exactly what) and she was just chitchatting about what happened that day and some things she saw on social media.

this wasn't unusual as mila had been going live more recently when this happened.

mila did say that the schedule ran a little later that day and that she was tired but that she also wanted to stay up and talk with czennies <333.

however, about 25 mins into the live, mila had been laying on her bed with the phone leaning against her open laptop screen. her head was resting on her folded elbows as she read the comments and talked contently.

due to this position and her growing tiredness, it was not difficult for mila to fall asleep.

fans thought that she was just resting her eyes for a moment and that she was still awake until it had been like 2 minutes of pure silence.

then all the comments were mixtures of "omg is mila asleep???" and "she's so cute aaaaa" and "sm really needs to let her rest smh"

she had only been out for around 10 minutes when haechan came in.

they share this room, so it is not a surprise that he came in unannounced.

the door cannot be seen from the vlive, but it can be heard closing and footsteps getting closer.

haechan appears behind mila to the side and quietly says "aigoo, mila fell asleep with her laptop on, let's fix this for my twin, eh?" he then reaches for her hands to move them off the keyboard to close the laptop when he notices that her phone is actually on vlive😭. "oh! hello~~" he greets cutely, giving a wave as he picks up the phone. "thank you for watching over mila, czennies. i will take over and make sure that she sleeps well! goodnight!"

he then ends the live, and we can assume that he finished getting all her stuff away so she could sleep<3

afterwards, on twitter, haechan was trending for being a lovely caring member as he acted so sweet without even knowing that he was being recorded

johnny stopping mila from falling off stage

okayyyy, so we all know that mila isn't clumsy, as she loves to remind us, but she lowkey is (don't tell her i said that).

so what transpired, was during the singapore show on the neo city - the origin tour in 2019. the stage was kinda an upside-down T shape with a little B-stage at the end.

mila was not paying attention to anything other than nctzens <3.

during replay (am 1:27), mila was looking into the crowd, as she does, with that big smile on her face.

she was squinting a bit, trying to read some of the signs that fans had up while also trying to dance around at the same time.

she was at the part in the stage where the B-stage starts. at the corner, she was leaning over to look at something. she was standing on that lower platform next to the stage that looks like she's on stage, but she's not really on it, you know???

anyway, once she finished reading, she turned towards the catwalk again and quite literally STEPPED OFF THE FUCKING STAGE

and she says she's not clumsy😑

but THANK GOD johnny was coming to the B-stage and was at the end of the catwalk. he SNATCHED her up and carried her for a few seconds before putting her down in the middle of the B-stage, where he was sure she couldn't fall off.

he looked at her for a minute, hands on her shoulders as they talked. none of what they were saying was picked up by their microphones, so we don't know what they said🤷‍♀️

mila nodded at him, and they both walked back down the catwalk to the main stage with hands around each other. probably just johnny being extra cautious now😖

none of the other members seemed to notice (probably a good thing because you KNOW taeyong would have scolded her).

after the show, mila went on her bubble to respond to czennies.

"i fell off the stage? no i didn't!!!! you're lying!!!" she joked with lots of emojis. she thanked them for their concern and promised it wouldn't happen again <3.

renjun yelling at the sasaengs calling her😳

i do not want to be on renjun's bad side 😳😳😳😳

so this happened in late 2019 when mila, renjun, jeno, and jaemin were all doing a vlive together.

it's very similar to what happened to jeno on the 200114 vlive with renjun, chenle and jeno.

mila was trying to read the comments on their vlive on her phone but she couldn't because sasaengs kept calling her.

she didn't even bat an eye as she repeatedly swiped the calls away, declining them and going back to what she was trying to do.

but IT WAS CONSTANT!!!

this was like 30 calls in 2 minutes like GALLLLLL

with each call, you could see mila growing more and more irritated with her side eyes to the camera :(

it got really bad when she tried to show something to the camera, and she got a call, so she swiped it away and showed the camera again. then she got another call, swiped it away and tried to show her screen again. when she got a third call, renjun stood up and took her phone from her hand, saying "give it to me"

he walked out of frame and began yelling at the sasaeng (as he should 💅🏻)

mila looked at him like 😳😏😊 and then started talking really loudly to cover up what renjun was saying.

it's hard to make out, but renjun can be heard yelling at the sasaengs saying things like "stop calling mila or else i will report your number and press charges"

basically scary renjun

he came and sat back down like 😒 and mila smiled at him and gave him a side hug to express her gratefulness <3333

⟡﹐ꊞ niko's relationships with NCT DREAM !

⟡﹐ꊞ when it comes to the members of nct dream, niko still sees them as the children they debuted as. when twenty year old niko found himself face to face with the freshly 14–16 year olds of nct dream, he felt the sudden urge to to hug all of them and never let them go. it's never been a secret that niko has a soft spot for the dreamies, the same dreamies who, though they are all adults now, he can't help but still see as babies. in the beginning, it was definitely difficult to interact with the members, considering they were children and he was at least four years their senior. admittedly, it was awkward in the beginning, but after a couple months, it seemed like he'd known them for years, like he'd given birth to each of the members himself. niko is basically the unofficial parent of everyone in nct dream (except for mark, he disowned him).

NIKO & RENJUN ( RENKO ) !

they are very much a rare pair, two members nctzens can't fathom ever being in the same room. every interaction between them on camera is minuscule at best, and if you do wanna find renko content, you're probably gonna have more luck finding it on the dark web then on any official nct pages 😭. seriously, the few interactions these two had at the nct nation concert sent nctzens into a frenzy, just them holding hands for seven seconds is enough for them. on camera, and to their fandom, the two of them have probably never met each other in their lives. off camera, though, they're much more different.

in the beginning, there were two things that made their interactions awkward. one: the language barrier, niko knew no mandarin, renjun knew no thai, and the two were equally as confident in their korean skills as a non-native speaker could be (which means they weren't confident at all). two: the two of them didn't want to be the first to start a conversation. while renjun would cast him looks from across the practice room but would be much too afraid to even get up and talk to him. despite the constant encouragement from donghyuck, the younger wouldn't budge, so the two didn't talk at all during their trainee days, just muttered a few greetings and goodbyes when coming across each other in the hallway.

it was only after the debut of nct dream that the two would actually be able to have a full on conversation. it was often that niko would wait backstage of their performances just to praise them endlessly, giving the sweetest of compliments to his month-younger juniors, compliments that would often lead to renjun being more flustered more than anything. niko to renjun was this calm, cool, collected older boy who seemed to be good at everything, a sentiment in his head which lead to the older becoming a staple of admiration for him. though the two could never spend a lot of time with each other, having schedules which made it practically impossible for them to ever make plans, renjun always made sure to make his admiration for the older clear, through short red faced mutters, and even clearer letters and late night texts.

now, are they friends? absolutely. are they still awkward? a little but not as much as they were before. renjun often finds himself snickering at niko's several shenanigans, especially when it comes to watching him argue with mark about the stupidest things imaginable.

NIKO & JENO ( NINO ) !

such an underrated duo that it's sad, they have such great chemistry, and whenever they're in content together it's absolutely hilarious, but sm seems to be gatekeeping all of the nino content. when seventeen year old niko met thirteen year old jeno on a random night in the practice room while he was searching for mark, the older became attached to him in almost an instant, smothering him at whatever chance he got. to the surprise of quite literally everyone, niko and jeno got much closer than it would've seemed. jeno was very much set on impressing the older, doing extra well in practice just to be able to see niko's proud smile whenever he showcased his newfound skills to him.

the pair would often find themselves talking about the strangest of things at two am in the practice room. idol groups, fancams, ice cream flavors, anything they could find entertaining. it wasn't often that he would say it, but niko would always showcase his appreciation for jeno through little gestures like allowing for the younger to randomly hold his hand throughout the day, accepting all of his gestures of affection, and covering for him whenever he snuck out to the convenience store in the late hours of the night. pre-debut nino represented more of cousins than brothers, niko was the cool older cousin who visited once every few years and jeno was the awkward younger cousin who wanted to be like him every way, admiring the older for even the smallest things.

niko and jeno still have their cousin like dynamic, but these days, jeno surprises niko more than anything. the older has been with him since he was thirteen, and he will never admit it out loud, but thinking about how he watched him grow up sort of chokes him up at times. the other things that surprises him is how jeno has gotten huger than him, at one point the two of them weren't even head to head, but now jeno can throw him around like he's nothing. niko is afraid that one day he's gonna wake up and jeno will be a giant, because to him, he's still a baby.

NIKO & JAEMIN ( MINKO ) !

if there is anything the members of nct dream can agree on, it's that na jaemin will never let nikolas rest. the younger has been buzzing around in his ear like an annoying mosquito for a good almost 11 years now, and there's nothing nikolas can do but give empty threats about how he's gonna punch the younger, knowing damn well he isn't going to do anything. upon entering sm entertainment in 2013, jaemin was met with an overwhelming new routine and unfamiliar faces, he felt just a little bit out-of-place, all of it was getting to his head, and he would often find himself up at night with these anxious circulating in his mind.

whenever jaemin felt like everything was getting to an increasingly overwhelming height, and whenever his thoughts would begin screaming at him, niko would be around to help knock them out of the way. the older became a person of comfort for jaemin, who, prior to even meeting him, felt like he couldn't properly talk about his worries to anyone. niko would listen to jaemin vent his anxieties, his frustrations, and their occasional late night talks became something jaemin would look forward to, niko basically became the sibling jaemin never had.

these two have a bond like no other, with niko acting as a sort of "guide" for jaemin. the two would often find themselves giggling at three am in the practice room, or sneaking out of practice to go to the convenience store whenever they were extra hungry in the middle of the night. jaemin busting into the little trainee dorms to make himself comfortable in niko's bed was never a rare sight, the two seemed attached at the hip, a brotherly relationship that could never be replaced.

and yeah— jaemin is always sure to nag niko about stupid things, and tease him whenever he can, but they both love each other, so so much.

NIKO & KIHYUN ( KIKO ) !

that's his son, and none of you are allowed to disagree with that statement, because that is literally his son. the moment seventeen year old saw twelve year old kihyun walk into the sm entertainment building, he got attached to him, and he can't exactly explain why he felt such an unusual surge of love whenever kihyun was in the room, but he did, and he wanted to make sure he didn't make the younger uncomfortable with the way he seemed to parade around him. kihyun felt similarly drawn to niko, often being able to find comfort in the older boy whenever practice or his homework questions became too much.

the two eventually became a usual pair to see around the practice room, whether it was kihyun skipping around the older and telling him silly puns he made out of his name, or it was niko teaching kihyun random australian phrases that the younger would begin to echo around the halls to annoy his other trainees. kihyun made it a habit to follow niko around, copying little things he watched the older do. despite being the eldest sibling himself, kihyun often found himself being taken care of by niko, showered with several compliments from the older boy who, (in his opinion) was probably one of the coolest people he'd ever met, being complimented by him was like music to his ears.

niko and kihyun have always been close, if you took one glance at them, you'd think that they've known each other they're whole lives. whenever things get horrible, and his thoughts become too overwhelming to bear, kihyun can immediately go to niko. the older has become a safe place for him, a person who he can talk to about anything, as the younger is to the older as well. it's become normal for kihyun to spend a lot of time at niko's place, whether it's to talk the older's ear off or to eat all of his cereal, the im can usually be found there if he's not at the dorms, chenle's place, or wandering around looking for new street foods to try.

one of the best things about these two is their duo lives, because you can always count on kihyun to suddenly bust down niko's door and crash his instagram live. the two are such an entertaining pair, and once you click on one of their lives, even if it's by accident, you will not be able to stop watching. sometimes, people think that niko and kihyun might actually be related, and the two do nothing but fuel those rumors.

NIKO & CHENLE ( NILE ) !

if you thought it was hard to find niko and renjun content, you have not seen the turmoil nile fans have to go through. the two had a lot of golden moments during nct 2020, but prior to that, it seemed like the two of them had no idea of each other's existence. yeah they were in the same group, but the only thing the two of them had in common were the members of nct they were close with. the only nile moments anyone could find were tiny little clips, or little stories told by the members where the two of them were menaces together.

it was difficult for niko and chenle to get to know each other, because the younger had joined only three months before the debut of nct dream, and niko had already debuted by then, so it wasn't easy to catch him around. chenle felt awkward around the older, because everything about him seemed to flawless, the younger was pretty intimidated by him, even with the smiles they shared in the halls when the younger would catch him.

chenle only found the confidence to talk to him a good few weeks after 127's debut, where he walked up to the older and muttered a few tiny compliments with his broken korean as niko sat there and listened to each and every word. it's easy to see why chenle was so nervous, because when your intimidated by someone, it's often that you trip over your words around them. niko thought chenle was the cutest person ever in that moment, and made sure to return the favor when he congratulated dream on their debut and gave extra compliments to chenle on his vocals, resulting in a very red faced chenle to form.

the younger's admiration for niko is something he would never say with his own mouth, he's much too stubborn to admit it to the other's face, but even after their awkward beginnings, the two did eventually find time they could spend with each other. niko often pampers chenle, and the younger pretends to be annoyed by it (but he loves it). so why is there so little nile content? that probably has to do with the fact that the two usually commit their crimes of evil after hours, often surrounded by their fellow members more, leaving them unable to interact in most nct content. still, any interaction between them is considered a win between niko and chenle truthers.

NIKO & JISUNG ( JINI ) !

that is also his son. no seriously, niko can't look at jisung these days without getting whiplash, because when did he get so tall? he's going to begin towering over niko in a few years time, and the thought alone is enough to make niko shiver. when niko met eleven year old, 4 ft 10 jisung in the sm entertainment practice room, the younger was basically a baby, and niko would do everything to make sure everyone knew that jisung was his new favorite dongsaeng (much to the dismay of donghyuck and kihyun). all the younger could do was stand there and take the older dancers constant praises, red faced and giggling as he did so.

though niko could never see jisung regularly after both of their debuts, the older always found time to give him compliments about everything. whether it be his dancing, his rapping, or his occasional singing, niko always found something to compliment jisung on, and the younger could always just stutter back responses as his cheeks grew a red color. whenever niko gets to spend time with the dreamies, if he doesn't immediately make a beeline towards kihyun, it's always jisung. jisung doesn't even have to do anything to get affection from niko, he could just stand there and niko would crumble immediately (nobody will ever know how he does it, and neither does jisung). if you want to get an unsolicited hug from nikolas, the easiest thing you could do is just be park jisung.

jisung usually never knows what to say around niko, not only because he's as introverted as the older, but because the compliments he receives often leave him so speechless that he doesn't know how to keep up. when jisung does get to talk to niko, it's often short and awkward because he can never really get his words in order, but niko always gives him time, never interrupting him in the middle of his speech or correcting him on his words. jisung, though he never really says it, really appreciates the older, his compliments, all his gestures, and his acts of affection. he often makes it known to him through quiet mutters, secret messages sent to him, and small smiles shared between them.

Lai Lihua was born as an only child on April 17, 2000 in Taipei, Taiwan to fashion designer Lai Yanjun and model Fan Xinyi. As a child, her father would always be gone and her mother would be home but ‘busy’ so that left her to her own devices. This is where she found her love for singing and acting like she was a singer on stage.

It came as a surprise to her parents when she demanded to be in vocal lessons, but not to the staff, who took care of her the most. Her parents quickly complied, as they always did and thought giving her whatever she wanted would make it all better. She tried getting into Chinese traditional dance, but she ended up twisting her ankle and that ended any efforts of hers to dance.

After becoming obsessed with Girls Generation and TWICE, she made sure to audition online for multiple companies. She only got into one— Delphi Entertainment. Two days later, she was on a plane to South Korea alone.

She has since starred in the background of multiple music videos for GIRL TALK, HAVOAX, and SUGAR CRUSH. She has featured on a song with XOXO’s Eunmi, LAW.

In 2024, it was announced she was one of the contestants for MNET’s upcoming female survival show, Fresh Produce.

No-one’s journey through idol life is going to be all sunshine & rainbows, and that’s a fact I think we should all make peace with as soon as possible. If you’re going to type out a comment screaming bloody murder about how your favourite’s whole career has been nothing but shiny and perfect, then all I have to say to you is that I’m sure there’s been a whole number of not-shiny and not-perfect things going on when the cameras are off. Sorry. It’s just the truth. Probably. But I’m not here to talk about your favourite, I’m here to talk about mine. So, without further ado, strap yourself in for a run-down of IM KIHYUN throughout the years of NCT DREAM’s career—ranked on a three point scale: the GOOD, the BAD, and of course, the REALLY, REALLY UGLY.

CHEWING GUM (2016)⠀⠀fruit punch & bubble mixture

15-YEAR-OLD-KIHYUN had three lines in their debut single, a yellow hoverboard, and a dream—literally, considering the name of his unit. He was every bit the mood maker most people know him as today, filled to the brim with excitement and a sense of self-confidence that some people may have thought he would’ve lacked. While he hadn’t fully settled into himself just yet, still had voice cracks, and acne breakouts he’d stubbornly refuse to be filmed with while suffering through, and bouts of clumsiness that would leave him with bruises all over his elbows and plasters on his knees, for the most part it felt like he was an experienced performer rather than a just-arrived rookie. Most people immediately took a liking to him, and although his popularity wasn’t as sky-high as some of his fellow members, the fans he did have were a force to be reckoned with right from the start.

But whether you loved him or hated him, the one thing that everyone seemed to take notice of was the way he just looked like he loved performing on every single occasion, putting everything he had into every stage even with the little amount of time he was given to show off both himself & his budding talent to the people watching. His stage presence was compared to a breath of fresh air on a summer’s day, the wide grin he aimed at the cameras at any given opportunity one that aimed to brighten the mood of anyone witnessing it, and the enthusiasm with which he delivered his lines was something that even the harshest of critics could give a nod of acknowledgement to. Altogether, it’s widely agreed that CHEWING GUM for Kihyun was a GOOD era, on our three point scale.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MU-BEYOND

Kihyun very obviously and very fiercely despising the way his hair was styled for one of the photoshoots, and making no attempt to hide it. As soon as the camera flashes stopped, gone was his sunshine smile, and in its place was a look that, if they could kill, would have put the photographer six feet under (even if the poor man would’ve had no say in how it was styled in the first place). While a few of the other members were enjoying themselves on the glossy pink bouncing balls they were perched on, as soon as it was announced they were done Kihyun was shooting up and making a runner for the bathroom, shooting the camera a glare and tugging on a few strands of his hair as he went. Chenle could be seen cracking up in the near background, creased over from the force of his laughter. Kihyun yelled something back at him, but whatever it was was drowned out by the editors with the persistent ‘Chew-chew-chew-chew chewing gum’ over the top of the footage, seemingly growing a little louder in order to hide his words.

THE FIRST (2017)⠀⠀bad hair & basketball

(STILL) 15-YEAR-OLD-KIHYUN had blue frosted tips and a tendency to get distracted on the music video set, far more interested in shooting hoops than dancing around in the school-band like outfit they were being made to wear and singing about being in head-over-heels in love with his teacher. He was still every bit the bust of energy he was previously, still throwing his all into everything he did, but it was obvious to some he’d rather be doing other things if he could. The whole riding-cardboard-cars-around was something he loved, though, and he stated more than once that was his favourite part by a mile. Kihyun was mostly the same as he was during the CHEWING GUM era in terms of performance, confidence, and the like—although it was noted by most that there was a little less of his occasional clumsiness, more stability in himself than there was previously. His popularity grew alongside the group’s, his consistent charm and apparent natural talent to draw people in appealing to many a new fan.

He slowly began to make more of a presence online during the MY FIRST AND LAST era, also. Posting both little messages and various photos of himself & the members (mainly in embarrassing positions, such as being half-asleep or making weird faces) on Twitter, interacting with fans whenever he could, and dragging out conversations for as long as he was allowed at fansigns, until the poor person in front of him was practically dragged along to the next member. And when there were more sides of him being shown to the public (and the internet, especially), there were more people waiting to pick apart every piece of him. While his popularity grew, the amount of people against him shot up in numbers, too. It wasn’t overwhelmingly bad, but there were a fair few who accused him of trying to take the spotlight too often, or being ungrateful for the opportunities he was being given after they’d heard the few comments he’d made here and there about the comeback’s concept not being his favourite. Still, despite these lower moments, there were still more pros than cons, and so MY FIRST AND LAST is another era ranked GOOD for Kihyun.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MFAL FIRST WIN

He was so caught up in tugging at the various buttons and pins stuck onto his ugly blazer that he barely heard the MC announcing their win until all the other members were jumping around and crying and patting each other on the back. Kihyun himself didn’t cry until backstage, when it finally hit him properly that they’d actually won, so in the moment he was more so just a little confused and dazed than anything else as he celebrated with the rest, not-so-subtly trying to take the trophy out of Mark’s hands while he made his speech so he could get a better look at it, wrapping Jeno in a hug so tight it left them both wheezing, trying to jump on Jisung’s back in an attempt to get him to cheer up, and also making a whole host of excited gestures and faces over at the members of 127 across the stage.

WE YOUNG (2017)⠀⠀fun in the sun!

KIHYUN (NOW 16) loved every second of this era, and that was something you could make out from space. Even with his now-pink-streaked hair and sailor outfits they were being made to wear, he declared the music from the WE YOUNG era as his favourite thus far. It was just pure fun, simple as that. He enjoyed every performance they did, sang all his lines with a grin so wide it nearly split his lips, was as playful as ever with all the members, and simply let loose a little more, losing himself in the music rather than what people were saying about it. Despite him not overly loving the whole sailor concept, fans were of the opinion that he was one of the ones that pulled it off the best, and so he begrudgingly posted photos of him in the get-up as often as he could—to an overwhelmingly positive response every time. The public noticed that, while still not fully grown, Kihyun’s self-confidence seemed to be at an all-time-high. He really did look like he was just happy to be there, and his supporters couldn’t have been more glad about it.

What also made his fans happy was his amount of lines getting a boost. He’d consistently been receiving around three or four, five at a stretch, but now it was reaching into the sixes and sevens—which, really, was barely an upgrade, but it made a world of difference to fans of his. It gave him more of a chance to show off his vocal ability, and brought more attention to him from both the public & critics. It also just made him happy, to be able to spend more than ten minutes in the recording studio, to be given more of a chance to show off how he’d grown and improved so far (even if he still thought he had a ways to go before he reached the level of his role models, his own idols). WE YOUNG was yet another GOOD era for Kihyun by miles, with barely any pitfalls in sight, and probably his highest so far.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀COMEBACK SHOWCASE

He was jumping all over the stage throughout every performance, throwing everything he had (and probably more) into every line he sang and every move he executed. It was clear he was trying his hardest to contain himself, trying not to scream every one of his lines into the mic or trip himself up, but it was also clear he was struggling. He was also as clingy as anything towards the rest, always hanging off of someone’s back or linking their arms together while they were walking. There was never a shot of him without a smile on his face, never anything he did that made it feel like he’d rather be elsewhere. His enthusiasm and excitement was almost infectious, leaking out of the screen to put a smile on the face of whoever was watching along.

WE GO UP (2018)⠀⠀breakdancing & beanies

NEARLY-ADULT (AKA.. 17-YEAR-OLD) KIHYUN seemed to be reaching for maturity a little too fast, fingers outstretched towards his eighteenth birthday and desperate for the months to pass by just a little faster. He had decided, somewhere along the line, that he was ready to be rid of the cuter concept the group was intended to present, and was more than ready for a switch-up. And while WE GO UP wasn’t exactly what he was hoping for, there was certainly less of the more childish aspects that were seen in their previous releases—which was both an acknowledgement of all the members growing older and also something that served as a reminder of Mark’s upcoming graduation from the group, which Kihyun would’ve rather done anything but think about. Still, while he didn’t put as much of his all into it as he had done in the past, he still put a fair amount of effort into the lines he was given (which were lessened once again, to the disappointment of many) and choreography they were made to learn. Fans noted that his personal style was beginning to develop in the WE GO UP era, their suspicions of Kihyun dressing himself confirmed when he mentioned here and there that most of his non-schedule outfits were his own.

The introduction of Bubble helped to boost Kihyun’s online presence, something that had fluctuated from era-to-era thus far (his highest amount of interactions previously being within the MY FIRST AND LAST era), and while he didn’t use it all the time, he still made an effort to communicate regularly with those who’d signed up when he could. He shared his inner reasonings on his online presence with those who were asking—saying that if he didn’t like the concept of the comeback too much he would compensate by being online and able to interact more. It’s a rule he’s mostly stuck with over the years, and fans have now said it’s easy to tell when Kihyun hates a concept because they’ll wake up with three new Twitter posts and ten times as many Bubble updates. So on the whole, although it was definitely on the lower end of the spectrum, WE GO UP is considered yet another GOOD era for Kihyun—making that a four-long streak (that—apologies for spoilers—was going to be broken fairly soon).

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀FIRST SOLO LIVE

It was, to put it plainly, a little bit all over the place. He held it in his dorm room, half asleep but still managing to be every bit the charismatic personality most people knew and loved him for. He answered any questions threw at him with total honesty, didn’t hold his tongue when talking about various subjects that others may have (namely his personal thoughts & opinions on the comeback as whole—this live was where many found out he didn’t like it as much as they thought he did), and also showed a side to him that the majority hadn’t been able to see as much of before. He gave song recommendations, spoke about those who inspired him—both in a music and fashion sense—and altogether shared lots of fun facts that had been unknown to most previously.

WE BOOM (2019)⠀⠀radio silence

18-YEAR-OLD-KIHYUN was noticeably.. Different. While Mark’s graduation had hit all of the remaining seven hard, the other six still at least pushed on and tried to act as if things were fine as normal, carrying on as most expected them to. Kihyun, however, had seemed to undergo a complete personality shift. He was withdrawn, quieter than he’d ever been—barely offering anything up in conversations or interviews even when prompted, barely any footage of him in behind-the-scenes content because he made next to no contributions to it; always preferring to stay in the background, on his phone with his headphones on and trying to ignore the cameras following them around. Public opinion of him was also beginning to slip further into the red, following leaked photos of him at an undisclosed individual’s party getting cosy with an unnamed and non-idol slightly older male just after the release of the mini-album—photos that went unaddressed by both the company and Kihyun himself. His name was starting to grow in infamy rather than popularity, but the boy himself didn’t really seem to care.

All traces of Kihyun on social media seemed to go completely cold, barely any updates from him that weren’t group photos or content. From the whole era there were a measly two Twitter posts from him, and his Bubble subscribers got refunded more often than not. But while he was refraining from making any posts, news websites and anonymous users were more than happy to leak more and more photos of him—always with the same boy, always at a party, or at a club, or just generally anywhere that looked a little shady to the hundreds of thousands that saw it. Rumours began to spread about a drinking problem, about a shady boyfriend, about countless things that painted Kihyun in a type of light that he’d previously avoided like the plague, but Kihyun himself made no attempt to defend himself, and so they only got wilder. It’s unanimously decided that the BOOM is the first (but certainly not the last) of Kihyun’s BAD eras.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀JENO LIVE

The then-blonde took it upon himself to disregard all the rumours spreading about his dongsaeng—although not in a direct way. He was careful with his words, as well-spoken as he always is, but made sure to especially shut down the accusations of Kihyun turning into some reckless party animal, taking the former leader’s graduation so bad he turned to less-than-ideal ways to cope. “Kyunnie isn’t like that, and never will be,” was what he told his audience, and many noted the flat look on his face. After the captain had, many of the others took their turn to come to Kihyun’s defence—mostly always with vague comments, but statements nonetheless. Chenle’s response in particular was deemed to be one of the most direct, replying to a comment while on live with a simple “You don’t know Kihyun like that” and then ending the live not long afterwards, leaving the conversation at that and somewhat encouraging the people speculating to do the same.

RELOAD (2020)⠀⠀cliff drops & harmful habits

NOW 19, KIHYUN seemed to be at something of his lowest point thus far. While he made more public appearances, more attempts to join in with behind-the-scenes content (or just extra content in general), most concluded it was the result of management telling him he had to, rather that Kihyun himself choosing to do so—and his return only gave more opportunities for those looking to find all the things wrong with the once-charismatic & energy-filled vocalist. And to make matters worse for him, more information had been dug up on his newfound non-idol friends (or rather, the one boy in particular that everyone wanted to know about). Oh Jinwoo, he had been discovered to be called, something of an influencer-like figure known more often than not for his whole host of partners over the years and tendency to get mixed in with the wrong crowd. You could say that you could only imagine what this did to Kihyun’s public image (which was practically halfway ruined by that point already), but there was no need for imagination—practically everyone witnessed his fall from the (mostly Korean) public’s good books, yet nobody could do anything about it. It felt like every day there was another article released leaking more photos and spreading more rumours about whatever dark web Kihyun was tangling himself in, but still the company made no move to stop them.

It was also during the RIDIN era that Kihyun was rumoured to have started up the habit of smoking, with (albeit blurry) photos released to support the claims. This did absolutely nothing to help his reputation, tanking it further. His future was starting to look a little uncertain, questions being raised over whether his actions as of lately would warrant either a hiatus or removal from the group completely. He might’ve delivered all his lines as fine as normal, danced along with the rest in the same practised & efficient manner he always did, but talent didn’t mean much when placed on a scale against damaging the whole group’s image, rather than just his own. When people began to turn their nasty comments and endless gossip onto the other members, Kihyun was starting to look like more of a hindrance than a crucial member. It is, without a doubt, agreed by all that RIDIN was a REALLY, REALLY UGLY era.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀KIHYUN LIVE

It was short, it was vague, and it was still very obvious he was nowhere near to feeling like his normal self, but Kihyun himself did come forward to address a few things—mainly the smoking incident, which he admitted to be true and said that while he was trying to put a stop to it completely, habits like that were hard to quit. After the negative comments began to override the positive & supportive ones, he was quick to shut it off again and return to what was becoming his frighteningly normal status of radio silent. Still, it was something—and far more than anything SM gave, at that. Other members were also quick to dismiss or shut down any comments they saw on their own lives discussing Kihyun and his future of the group, all that they said mostly being along the simple and short lines of “Kihyun’s staying with us” and not elaborating any further.

HOT SAUCE (2021)⠀⠀a start

20 YEARS OF AGE. Mark was back, their permanence as a group was finally confirmed, the graduation system having been abolished, and all eight of them were together again. After five whole years of being active they were finally releasing a full album, and getting the chance to do it the way they all wanted. But while things were happier in that regard, Kihyun’s situation was far from forgotten. Fans of his were relieved nothing had been done about his place in the group—even if a few solo stans wanted him out just as much as those who hated him did, for the sake of his own wellbeing rather than them holding any ill-will towards the other members—but public opinion of him was still mostly in the red. Things were again starting to feel like they were hitting a dead-end: with Kihyun’s presence sort of.. Drifting. Sometimes he’d be absent for a group live, sometimes he’d go silent on all social media for weeks with his only comeback usually being his presence in the background of another member’s photos. Everything was looking just as uncertain as they had during the RIDIN era—until Kihyun once again started a solo live with the simple title of ‘an explanation’ and proceeded to do just that: explain.

Most suspected he didn’t divulge all the details, but the run-down was this: he’d met Jinwoo at some party or other, and they’d gotten just as close as all the leaked photos and gossipy articles made them out to be (although, again, some thought them to be far closer). He’d led Kihyun into a little bit of a rebellious era, what he called his ‘chance to be young and reckless’ since he’d mostly missed out on it, what with all his years of both diligent training & as an active idol. While he admitted on the broadcast that it was fun for a while, he was also realising the damage it was doing to both himself & his fellow members, so attempted to cut contact with his newfound friend—to no avail, for a few months, as they had more than a few periods of arguments both over the phone and in person. He said he’d only officially completely cut Jinwoo off a few weeks before the live, and shared with something of a wistful smile that he didn’t plan to get in touch with him any more now that he was gone. His viewers were overjoyed to hear this, and the members shared the sentiment—but Kihyun still had a ways to go before he was back to being a generally accepted fan-favourite. Despite him taking his first steps towards being back to his usual self, HOT SAUCE is still considered a BAD era for the vocalist.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MARK INSTAGRAM POST

It was a three-slide-long affair that was posted not too long after Kihyun’s live. The first was a selfie of himself & a sleeping Kihyun, one of the rapper’s arms gently holding the vocalist to his side while he grinned wide into the camera. The second, a solo shot of Kihyun’s face up close to the camera, tongue out and peace sign just barely visible in one of the corners, what with most of the frame being taken up by the odd expression he was pulling. The third slide was a short video, only ten seconds or so long, of Kihyun and him on the dorm’s sofa, the audio consisting the tail-end of Mark’s voice making a joke mostly unintelligible to the viewers that was quickly followed by Kihyun’s pure & unfiltered laughter as he cracked up at whatever the Dream leader had said. He was creased over, one hand repeatedly hitting Mark’s knee as the other held his stomach, breath coming out in jerky and uneven gasps as he tried to recover. The caption was made up of two words: ‘my KD.’

HELLO FUTURE (2021)⠀⠀cotton candy & back to normal

STILL 20, BUT NOW SEEMING MUCH HAPPIER, by the time HELLO FUTURE era rolled around Kihyun felt to most like he’d healed fully from what had then been a period a month shy of two years worth of the continuous cycle of being somewhat of a public enemy. People thought it was the combination of getting the truth about all that had happened off his chest, the continuous support of his members both in Dream and in NCT as a whole, and the seemingly infectious happy mood that came with the HELLO FUTURE era that managed to finally get Kihyun back on his feet, and with him he was bringing performances reminiscent of how full of joy and excited he’d been during the WE YOUNG era, smile wide on his face in every shot and dancing filled to the brim with passion. He even made more of an effort to make appearances on social media—contradictory to the rule he’d made during the WE GO UP era of only being constantly online during concepts he wasn’t too fond of. He gave happy little updates every once in a while, paired with smiling selcas both alone & with the other members, was as talkative as most remembered him to be before what some had started to dub ‘the dark ages’ during any group lives they held, and even crashed a few of the member’s solo lives every now and again.

His change was noticed easily, and was one that began to slowly turn the tides of public opinion on him once again. The comments made about him being someone who was bringing the group down and ruining their reputation with his recklessness were slowly lessening, being replaced with positive ones, and soon enough his popularity was starting to grow again, instead of the countless hate trains and calls for him to be kicked out. Kihyun was well on the way (if not mostly there already) to being completely fine again, even apparently feeling well enough to make more than a few jokes at his own expense here and there about staying far, far away from any parties held by a friend-of-a-friend in the future. HELLO FUTURE was the light (or rather.. Rainbow?) at the end of the tunnel for Kihyun, and so it was considered his first GOOD era after the nearly two years of BAD (with one REALLY, REALLY UGLY, at his lowest) ones.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MV REACTION

Kihyun was seated next to Chenle, which could only really mean trouble—as it always did whenever the pair were within two metres of one another. They were cracking jokes every two seconds, falling all over one another with laughter and unable to shut up for even a minute. The rest paused the video more times to tell them to keep it together than they did for them to comment on anything actually happening in the MV, but you could tell from a mile away that they didn’t really mind in the slightest, more happy to see Kihyun laughing and smiling again than anything. They also all made sure to cheer the loudest when the vocalist’s solo scene appeared on screen, and then proceeded to (lovingly) make fun of him when his ears uncharacteristically went bright red at the praise being showered upon him, although he tried to get over it quickly and return back to his self-confidence-filled self.

GLITCH MODE (2022)⠀⠀video games & b-boying-in-progress

NOW FULLY BACK ON TRACK (& FRESHLY 21), Kihyun was ready to throw his all into their second full album. He was as good as new, his overwhelming feeling of excitement for every track recorded and released as clear as day. He even (again) broke his no-contact rule a few times just to relay how much he thought fans were going to love the album, posting spoilers as often as possible and revealing as much as he could get away with before it dropped. When it was released, he was practically talking about it non stop, chattering away on all platforms about the styling, the stages, the music, how fun it was, how much he was enjoying himself—the list went on. He declared the GLITCH MODE era to be his favourite, point blank, no matter how much he liked anything they would go on to release in the future. Public opinion of him was mostly completely smoothed over by that point, and his personal fan base was growing with every passing piece of content that was released. He seemed at his complete happiest, throwing everything he had and more into every single thing he did during promotions & extra content.

The GLITCH MODE era was also when he opened his personal Instagram account, his first post being a picture of him and Jeno glued to each other’s sides in a setting people assumed to be the SM building, with the caption ‘my favourite colleague.’ His follower count rose quickly, and is currently sitting at a comfortable 4.8M, mostly in the middle of Jisung and Chenle’s own numbers. Since then his account has become a home to photos that at times feel more like an exhibition of all the other Dream members (and his closer friends from the other units also) than anything involving himself, nonsensical lives that usually occur at the early hours of the morning where Kihyun—either alone or together with whoever decides to either join the live or join Kihyun himself wherever he’s holding it—has free reign to chatter on about whatever he pleases, although most of the time when he’s alone it turns into an impromptu radio hour where he takes the chance to talk about his favourite recent albums & artists, as well as listening to any recommendations his viewers give him. Slowly beginning to recover his streak, GLITCH MODE is seen as another GOOD era for Kihyun.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MV BEHIND

Kihyun had decided that he was going to properly get into breakdancing during the GLITCH MODE era, and saw no better place than his solo interview moment in the behind-the-scenes video to show off the moves he’d begun to learn. At first he just spoke about how excited he was for the comeback, with Mark hanging off of his back and chiming in with comments of his own here and there, but after a couple minutes of that he was shrugging the leader off of him and telling the camera to “Watch this!” before launching into an impromptu downrock routine while Mark watched on in horror, looking a little like he was on the verge of a seizure even if Kihyun was perfectly fine. He also tried to do a headstand, and by that point Jeno had also wandered over to see what all the fuss was about, and viewers had the pleasure of watching both the leader and captain attempt to stop Kihyun from giving himself a concussion—the latter looking like he was about to burst into tears, and the former looking as if he was seconds away from collapsing.

BEATBOX (2022)⠀⠀boomboxes & makeshift english lessons

21, AND, IN HIS WORDS, “IN HIS PRIME,” the vocalist & dancer took to BEATBOX like a duck to water. While it wasn’t a huge favourite of his, he still liked it well enough and had enough fun on both the sets of the music video and all the photoshoots that accompanied the release to make up for it. The choreography was also a favourite for him in particular, and he practised it so much he could be seen absently dancing along to it whenever he stood still for too long in almost all of the extra content both before & after the release. It was practically ingrained in him, all of it coming to him like muscle memory. He swore up and down he could do the BEATBOX choreo tied up and blindfolded by the end of the era, although he was far from complaining, dragging every idol he vaguely knew (and even ones he hadn’t even introduced himself to) to do the challenge with him backstage at all the music shows they attended. Hardly anyone was safe from Kihyun’s pleading eyes and charming smile, and fans joked they’d seen more of Kihyun on TikTok doing dance challenges than they had seen him on any other platform from all of his past eras combined.

He was also noted for his sudden unexpected closeness with Jaemin in the BEATBOX era. While they were far from just acquaintances, and had expressed their shared love for one another multiple times in the past (even after their not-really-fight they’d shared in their trainee years, the story of which Kihyun had retold during a live with Jeno and could barely get though sentences of without laughing at how ridiculous it sounded all those years later), he just seemed a little closer, a little clingier in all of the behind-the-scenes content; hanging off of his arm or dragging im off somewhere to talk about something or other. When asked about it somewhere, he simply shrugged with a big grin on his face. “I just like Jaemin-hyung,” was all he said at the time, but later in an Instagram post of the two on the set of the music video he had written the caption ‘please give me lots of love—and lots of followers too!’ with a whole array of heart emojis to accompany it, to which Jaemin commented with a lot of laughter and promising he’d bring his dongsaeng all the Instagram fame he seemed to desire. Now most definitely building his streak back up, BEATBOX was a GOOD era for Kihyun all-around.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀UNBOXING BEATBOX ALBUM

Sat with Donghyuck, Renjun, and Mark, Kihyun was tearing off the cellophane packaging of the album before the rest could even greet the camera, practically desperate to look through the photobook and (most importantly, so he could add it to his ever-growing collection of all the photocards he owned of his fellow members) see who he’d pulled. He yelled out in delight and brandished his brand-new Jaemin PC at the camera, before almost immediately pulling out his phone and prying off the case to slip it into the back of it (covering up the GLITCH MODE era Mark he’d pulled the last time they’d done an unboxing, much to the leader’s dismay). After that was done with, he started spending an unnecessarily long amount of time pouring over each page of the photobook, trying to think of English adjectives to describe them with and then distracting Mark from his own unboxing in order to get him to whisper them in his ear when he couldn’t think of how to translate them. ‘Hot’ and Jaemin’s practically-trademarked ‘Sexy’ was what he ended up coming out with the most.

CANDY (2022)⠀⠀earmuffs & christmas karaoke

CHRISTMAS AT 21 was a very merry affair for Kihyun. He was as festive as could be, even wrangling Renjun and Jisung into buying a fake tree for their dorm that he decorated in a (very chaotic, and very loud) Christmas live a few days before the release of the EP. That seemed like the extent of his social media updates, though, only really appearing after that in group Twitter posts or lives (or occasionally the background of another member’s picture)—but this wasn’t all bad, seeing as it confirmed to most that he enjoyed the colourful and fun winter concept they were going with for the release. The only other real proper online presence he had was the random flurry of Bubble messages his subscribers would receive concerning his ranting and raving about his personal favourites from H.O.T.’s discography, seeing as he took it upon himself to listen to more of them because it was one of their songs they were remaking. Fans took delight in Kihyun’s wide smiles and overall joyful mannerism as he delivered lines about leaving his partner for another, saying his always-cheerful disposition made his performance of the title track all the more enjoyable.

In behind-the-scenes & extra content, Kihyun’s Christmas spirit felt infectious to viewers. There wasn’t a moment where he wasn’t belting out the lyrics to Christmas classics from all countries (even if he had to hold his phone up to Mark’s face on occasion and get him to help him with the pronunciation of some of the lyrics), or dancing around to something only he could hear in his head, or picking up some of the fake-snow they sprinkled around on a few of their sets and chucking it in Chenle’s face before sprinting in the other direction while the Chinese vocalist immediately gave chase, and the rest could only stand and watch it all play out. Now matching his previous four-long streak, CANDY is agreed to be yet another GOOD era for the vocalist.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀PACKING CANDY ALBUM

He was in Mark, Jisung, and Chenle’s group, and spent most of the time chucking baubles at Chenle, trying to balance the various items placed before them on the table on Jisung’s head & shoulders without him noticing, and steadily making his way through the whole rack of Chupa Chups sitting right beside him unattended rather than doing anything with the actual box in front of him. Mark took over the job for him in the end, leaving him to pretty much do whatever he pleased in the meantime (one of those things was repaying the favour Mark did him by tying him in bows with the ribbon that their boxes had come wrapped in, the leader making faces while he did so but doing absolutely nothing to stop him at the same time).

ISTJ (2023)⠀⠀mbti fraud & impulse decisions

22-YEAR-OLD-KIHYUN was as energetic as ever, full of ideas and eager to get all of them heard. ISTJ was the album where he received the most writing credits, recorded as having helped with the lyrics for all tracks bar Like We Just Met and Blue Wave. Fans liked to see that he was showing a more creative side of himself this era, and that he was vocal about all the things he’d had input in or had helped shape into the final form, polishing it to perfection for their third full album. He was most noticeably supportive in their behind-the-scenes recording videos, where he got through all of his own sessions quickly & efficiently (but with no lack of passion and enthusiasm for the lines he was given—which most were happy to see were more than usual, similar to the WE YOUNG era in terms of numbers, even occasionally soaring a few higher) and then stayed in to listen to all of his other fellow members, cheering them on from behind the glass and dancing around as they recorded, greeting them with a wide hug and endless amounts of praise when they left the booth.

Another thing that was enjoyable for fans was his complete lack of awareness of what an MBTI actually was. He’d heard of them, of course, but he’d never gone as far as to take a test and find out for himself. So Kihyun, curious to see what the fuss was all about, turned on an Instagram live, propped his phone up against his desk, switched his laptop on, and took one there and then. He consulted with viewers about every single one of the questions, taking far too long to complete it than any normal person would-and, when he finally did, disagreeing with his result right up until he saw people that shared his MBTI. He shut up pretty quick when he scrolled down a little more and saw that he apparently had the same one as Adele, changing his tune almost instantly and saying his result was the best of them all. Officially bumping his longest-running streak up to five, ISTJ was most definitely a GOOD era for Kihyun.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀MV BEHIND

He was clearly in his element, bouncing around from member to member to play with their hair or jump onto their back or whisper something in their ear before bursting out into a fit of snickers and running off again to see who else he could bother. He played photographer for most of their Instagram posts, taking the outtakes or moments where they had an eye closed or just clearly weren’t ready for his own feed, started a playfight with Jisung and nearly tripped himself up on a stray wire in the process, brought his own mini Bluetooth speaker to set one day so he could have a soundtrack while he caused his chaos, and attempted to show off more tricks he was learning, but was quickly stopped by Mark, who, as soon as he saw him getting in position for what looked like a cartwheel of some sort, was rushing over faster than light—his breakdancing routine from the GLITCH MODE era still very much as the forefront of his mind.

DREAM()SCAPE (2024)⠀⠀mocktails & odd-looking fruits

AGAIN FRESH OFF A BIRTHDAY (HIS 23RD THIS TIME), the vocalist felt just as excited for the release as he had for GLITCH MODE, even if it wasn’t a full album. It was calling back to their debut days, making a statement through all of the symbolism and hidden messages that was louder than any of them could convey with words, and was altogether a project that hoped to show to everyone how strong their bond actually was, to convince the few out there that were of the opposite opinion that they all loved one another throughout the thick and thin their eight years of being an active subunit, and weren’t likely to stop anytime soon. Kihyun was like Jisung in regards to all the fan-theories being made about the teasers, keeping his mouth mostly shut (although some thought that was just because he was barely on social media as it was), but did comment on some things in particular—namely Jeno’s back, the Jaemin trailer that had him locking eyes with the camera even in between a crowd, and the Chenle pill-biting scene. He kept quiet on his own, making brief comments about how cool he thought he looked on Bubble but not saying much otherwise.

The few things he did share about the comeback were mostly about the music. He had writing credits for the majority of the songs, but also had another piece of news that was exciting for him as a longtime personal goal he’d had for a good while—and that was that he’d assisted with the production on one of the tracks. Most that knew Kihyun knew that music production had been one of his interests since he knew what it was, and so naturally that meant they knew what some of his work in the production area actually getting used in an official release would mean to him. He couldn’t have been happier about it, and that happiness was a sentiment both the members and his closer friends outside of Dream shared with him, mentioning it in passing when talking about DREAM()SCAPE. Even if it only just ended, SMOOTHIE is considered yet another—making this his sixth in a row since ‘the dark ages’—GOOD era for Kihyun.

(MY) FAVOURITE MOMENT: ⠀DREAM()SCAPE COUPLE SONG MEETING

Amidst all the chaos, Kihyun was surprisingly quiet. He looked half-asleep for most of the meeting; Jamiroquai baseball cap backwards on his head, eyes drooping closed every now and again, and a thick sweater on that he kept pulling closer to himself as if he wanted it to suddenly transform into a blanket. The only thing he did the whole meeting was play Cooking Mama on his phone (we know this because he shared screenshots of his finished dishes on Bubble afterwards) and vouch for Carat Cake—yes, you heard that right, Carat Cake. The song that the rest of the members acted as if it didn’t exist. He didn’t really care if it wasn’t a couple song, and didn’t really care if it didn’t get picked, either—he just wanted it to be known that was where his vote lay. It was his favourite song on the EP, and hoped that somewhere out there there’d be people that liked it just as much as him. At some point in the middle he got bored with both his phone and the arguments still going on in front of him, so he nestled his head in his arms and attempted to have a nap. Which, predictably, didn’t work that well. By the end of it he was still dead tired, still the only one that liked Carat Cake, but also the only one who had three stars on his Cooking Mama carbonara, and so he considered himself the real winner of that meeting.
