I Have A New TWST Theory

Warning: There will be spoilers for the end of Black Butler: Book Of Circus. If you do not wish to be spoiled, then look away, dear reader. For those that would like to hear my nonsensical ramblings...

So we all know that Yana Toboso made Black Butler and helped design our lovely boys (and our beloved Meemaw Felmier and Najma), this is nothing new. But have you noticed how much some of the characters look and act like the first stringers? Each of the first stringers (minus Snake) died at the end of BOC, leading me to believe they were somehow reincarnated after Ciel and the Phantomhive servants killed them. Don't believe me?

Look at how some of the characters interact with each other, Cater and Vil especially. Cater looks and acts a lot like Joker, and constantly praises Vil, who acts like Beast. It is also heavily implied that Cater has a crush on Vil, and Joker and Beast were lovers at one point. It wasn't until they started the circus that they split up. While yes, Beast chased Joker for a while, she eventually stopped, realizing it was pointless. Well once they were reincarnated, a part of Beast (Vil) remembered Cater (Joker), and the tables were turned, leading Cater to chase Vil instead.

Ruggie looks and acts a lot like Dagger, even their voices are similar. They also have similar humor.

Deuce has similar morals as Doll, along with that care-free attitude, and even her eye color and build.

Jack and Jumbo are quiet big brother types, and are H U G E. We don't get to see enough of them, but we do get to see that the two are very similar, and will go to any length possible to do what they believe to be the right thing.

Dominic and Wendy are moral compasses, and often take care of grumpier characters. They are also both shorter than other people their age.

Grum and Peter speak for themselves, mostly for my aforementioned points on Dominic/Wendy. They are also both angry at practically everyone, except for the people they decide are worth something to them. Wendy was the only exception, as she was the one person that Peter trusted more than anything, and even loved.

And then we have Snake, the only first stringer that wasn't killed.

After decades of working for Ciel, Snake quietly passed away and was also reborn into Twisted Wonderland. But as who? A white haired orphan boy by the name of Silver, who kept all his memories of the first stringers. After being reunited with the rest of the reincarnated first stringers, he realized none of them had their memories of him, and Snake fell into a depression. Heartbroken, he now spends most of his time sleeping, dreaming of his past life at the circus, hoping that the first stringers' memories will remember each other one day.

HI I JUST WANTED TO MAKE MY COMMENTS 😅 vskwabkznsehek pardon the dust—

***Spoilers for episode 5 of the main story!***

Sooo they changed Deuce’s UM name from “Bet the Limit” to “Double Down” (“Double Down” being the chance to increase the value of one’s initial bet by 100% in a game of Blackjack). I’m guessing this was done because the original name explicitly mentioned “betting”/gambling in a game which is marketed and exposed to an audience that can contain children, whereas “Double Down” can be interpreted as a reference to Deuce’s stubbornness and unwillingness to budge if a player isn’t familiar with card game terms.

I find it kind of confusing because TWST’s whole gacha system to acquire new characters IS inherently a form of gambling 😅 but that aside, I don’t dislike the new name??? It works a lot better than some of the other name changes they’ve made, and I appreciate the word play/double meaning.

… But fun fact, there is a KFC sandwich with the same name as Deuce’s localized UM 😂 GO GOOGLE IT IF YOU THINK I’M KIDDING CUZ I’M NOT—

BRO. THEY JUST STRAIGHT UP REMOVED ALL OF HEIGH HO/YAHOO????? Rhythmic/Twistune (aka 30 free gems)? AXED. Musical cues? GONE. Lyrics? WHERE? Song name? NEVER HEARD OF HER. AHBDOSAIDAIDASHDB It’s???? Such a shame 😔 I really feel like seeing RSA’s song is important to the chapter because it shows NRC (and Vil specifically) what they’re up against, and it helps to characterize on and expand RSA’s students.

The removal of Heigh Ho/Yahoo also really impacts a lot of scenes, and for the worse. It leads to parts where Neige says, “Everyone, let’s go!” to awkward silence before (even more awkwardly) fading into black. It’s particularly weird at the very end of the episode, where the NRC group is forced to smile and sing along with Neige??? Instead it just shows Neige grabbing Vil and being all like, “let’s sing together!” before fading into white 😅 I genuinely feel really bad for EN exclusive players right now 💦 Heigh Ho/Yahoo actually plays a big part in the gravity and some of the light heartedness of the latter half of episode 5...

I think that they likely won’t just add it in later since the censoring seems extremely deliberate. If I had to guess (BIG FAT DISCLAIMER that I’m not an expert, nor do I claim to be, of Disney internal operations and legal operations), Heigh Ho/Yahoo probably got removed due to licensing issues between Disney USA and Disney JP since those branches operate differently? (An example that a friend of mine gave is that Japanese VAs can get away with song covers but Disney USA usually frowns upon parodies or covers of their songs over in the USA. It’s also possible that the licensing issue is between Disney USA and Aniplex, not Disney JP.) The song itself doesn’t contain anything offensive that would need to de redacted, it’s literally called a popular nursery rhyme for children in the Shaftlands/Pyroxene.

I'm thinking that they haven't even seen a skateboard before but how would the guys from your choosing would react seeing the residents other worldly magicless student do some tricks while riding?

ive decided to make it into headcanons format, hope you don't mind!

also, idk if my mind invented it but i believe cater canonicaly skates??? idk if its true but i went with that it is canon, however twst skates are a lil bit diff, just like magic wheels, skateboards in twst are like tiny surfboards (ie: don't have wheels) and they use magic to ride!

he does one of those interviews with the little mics with you so that you explain that's a skate for non-magic people

One of the first ones that saw your endeavors

he also finds Grim holding onto your shoulders very funny (and has teased the little monster for it)

but he thinks it is also very cool and wants to learn how to ride it

he tries to ride your skateboard but he finds it very difficult and falls more times that he'd like to admit

so you have to hold his hand while he practices or hes gonna break his tail bone

DESPISES using a helmet

he asked you what else you can do with a skate and you did an ollie

he was FLABBERGASTED, and when you told him THAT was a simple trick he lost his mind

demanded you teach him EVERY and ALL tricks

"i look hella cool, everyone's gonna be flocking to me for a date" Yeah sure, first learn how to stop the skate instead of jumping for it

"Aye, AYE, AYE PREFECT CATCH ME-" His arms flailing to his sides as he lost equilibrium, you opened your arms trying to stop Ace's fall, but as his body collided with yours, you tripped on your backpack, which Grim had left alone after a while, deciding to nap on the grass. You both fell to the floor, your body acting as a cushion for Ace. "Okay, that wasn't that bad, ON THE BOARD AGAIN!"

Floyd ;;

"What the HELL is that?!? I LOVE IT?!?" Quite literally pushes you off the skate to take a closer look at it (hes a dick)

asks a million questions about it "what is this device?? what do you land humans use it for?? can i bite it??" You want to say that that would be dangerous but hes,,, well, hes floyd

also demands that you reach him how to ride the land dolphin

completly ignored Grum and the disgruntled look he was giving him in favor of jumping on top of the table, proceding to fall in his ass the very next moment

you start wuth the basics, and turns out hes a goofy! picks it up very quickly and soom enough hes speeding (and slamming against a wall because he hasn't learned to stop)

found out you could jump with the skate on himself, and later asked you what you could do

he finds out that he really likes kickflips, like, perhaps too much

his favourite part is doing tricks and going down very steep hills

"YO! LOOK AT THIS" He was on top of your board while you were sitting on a bench, enjoying how much fun he was having with your "weird human invention". His left foot went to the back, pushing down so that the nose of the skate went up, at the same time he jumped, his right foot slid over the board, making it roll around itself before he planted his feet back on it as he landed. Effectively doing a kickflip. "Yooo that was SO COOL. Teach me more!"

hes really interested on the technology of the device you're using, does it have a motor? what's its max speed? how does it leave the floor?

so when he finds out its a board with wheels and youre the one manually making it move and jump, hes a little bit disappointed

however the momet he sees you slide along the edge of a wall the only thing he can think of is how cool you are and that you must be a UR+ Character with OP stats, AND, Grim looked so fluffy and cute behind you!!!

You can see him looking at you from afar, muttering something under his breath, a pen and sketching pad in hid hands

you see that he wsnts to get closer to you and ask you something, but if he ever catches you looking at him while hes taking notes and sketching you hes gonna bolt

legit runs away

but you slide next to him with ease, and soon after hes wheezing for air

hes really defensive but apologizes for drawing you without consent, vut you assure him that you dont mind

"So... uhm, uh, you-" he points to the skate and then to you, you back down from the skate and offer him your hand, asking him if he wanted to try

he sucks

his hair is bright red because hes so embarrased, like, he cannot push himself even once before falling to demise

he fails so hard that you end up getting on the board with him, holding his arms so that he isn't flailing them around and push you both for a couple of meters

hes ecstatic

later he'll ask you if he can add some modifiers to your board to make it "an SSR item"

hell make one for ortho so that he can also play around with you

in the end, whenever you (and sometimes ortho) skate around, he'll take some pictures to brag online (mostly of his babies, ie: the now super technologically advanced skates that would make anyone jealous)

"Ortho followed behind you, he quickly adjusted to skateboarding, and was much better than his brother, but perhaps that was because he was a robot... Nah, even if he wasn't he'd still be better than Idia. He was looking at you both in between loading screens, as he sat in a bench under the shade, his handheld console in his hands. He only accepted to go out because he wanted to see how your skate was doing after the renovations he had done, and he was safe to say that they did wonders, so he quickly snapped a pic while you were distracted, posting it without a caption on his private magicam."

More Twst x pkmn!

Dustox feels almost obligatory to me atp, and Dipplin is there bc of the poison apple. The rest are there for the queen aspect of Vil’s character, tho I def considered the poison aspect too. And, side note, but his Gardevoir is definitely a male one.

Decidueye is another obvious one, as it’s a bird archer, kinda like Rook! (Rook, as in the bird.) (Also I’m just now remembering that I was thinking about giving him a Bisharp to reference the rook chess piece, but it’s not that important. Oh well) Vivillion bc it just feels like a Rook pkmn, and it’s the “High Plains” form bc Rook’s from Sunset Savanna. Zoroark is there bc I wanted a pkmn that could blend into the background like Rook could (*cough cough* stalker *cough cough*) so, Zoroark. Leavanny bc Rook is also very like, nurturing, if that makes sense. Similar vibes 👍 Swoobat bc again, it just reminded me of him, then finally Pheramosa bc I wanted Rook to have an odd pkmn. One that makes you go, “why tf do you have that?” And Ultrabeasts are a good type of pkmn for that idea. I also wanted Rook to have at least one fighting type, again for the archery thing and bc he used to be in Savannaclaw, but Pheramosa also just slays, so it’s a good Rook pkmn

For Epel, I honestly wanted to give him every single applin evo (Flapple, Appleton, even Hydrapple) but that’d take up to many slots, so he only gets Flapple. Buneary is due to his connections with bunnies in canon (this card is proof of that!) so I wanted to give him a bunny pkmn too. I feel like his buneary has been one of his oldest partners, but he doesn’t want a Lopunny, so he gave his Buneary an everstone. I feel like part of his character development would be letting Buneary evolve :). Frosmoth is cause he’s from a cold area, and I just thought it fit him. Croagunk is a poison/fighting type, and both of those are very Epel-like to me. Varoom is another poison type, but also Epel likes blastcycles, so I thought it fit. (I also realized that I should’ve given Deuce a Cyclizar, tho I’m not sure who I’d switch out, oh well) Dubwool is there mainly to fill out the rest of his team lol (maybe I should’ve given him an Applin-)

I’m not really sure what I’d explain here. Maybe that his name, Neige LeBlanche literally translates to Snow White bc Neige=Snow & Blanc(he)=White, and so Snow=Ice type? Idk, easy picks

Are the 7 dwarves characters frm RSA actual kids or is it just their height? Cuz I thought they were the same age as the first year crew at minimum.

Chenya tells us that the Seven Dwarves are sophomores at RSA in 5-55 of the main story. As far as we know, RSA is also a high school like NRC, so there wouldn’t be a logical in-game reason for RSA having elementary aged students (and have you ever heard the term “sophomore” being used to describe elementary students anyway?) so they’re in high school.

It’s easy to mistake the Dwarves for children though; Grim thinks they are “way younger” due to their short statures.

Remember, height is not always equivalent to age!! There are short adults and tall kids!

Sometimes there are differences in height due to a genetic factor. In fact, Grum remarks that he and the other six are “pretty tall for dwarfs”, so being small is a trait that is associated with their race. Additionally, while the Seven Dwarves just so happen to be taller relative to the average dwarf, they are still considered short when compared to other races.

On this topic, I find it interesting that Yuu notices the pointy ears on the Seven Dwarves and thinks they may be fae:

xbksdbksjs It makes me wonder if dwarves are actually considered one of the many different kinds of fae in TWST (since the story never confirms nor denies this point)??? Because Yuu is kind of right in that regard; pointed ears tend to indicate fae lineage, and fae are inclined to magic (which the Seven Dwarves are, given that they attend a renown mage-training institution). Or are dwarves considered a separate race altogether rather than a part of fae???? 🤔

Hellllo Besties! I'm here to share my TWST Ocs \(≧▽≦)/

Ge ready for a long bit of reading friends!

Background info to know so you don't get confused about Alken: Alken is a god from TWST. He was banished to Yuu's world by the other gods after getting in a fight with his brother and killing him. Alken ruled over Yuu's world for hundreds upon thousands of years (He was a very bad god) until he fell in love with a human that so happens to be Yuu's ancestor. Unfortunately for Alken Yuu's ancestor despised him and wanted to end him no matter what. Yuu's ancestor was able to kill Alken's living form and send it back to Twisted wonderland so Alken wouldn't be able to heal it. Alken was trapped as a spirit watching his love and killer live on with a happy family.

Info: Kasche is the god of death, he is the son of Alken and a goddess who is not known yet. His current lore is that he believes Yuu is the Goddess of life and fertility he also believes that the goddess of life and the god of death should be together

(Of course Yuu got to Twisted wonderland like the perfect but just slightly different so I explain how both Donnie and Yuu got there)

How Yuu got to Twisted wonderland: Yuu was out picking berries for a pie when she tripped on a rock and was sent flying off a cliff. Yuu passed out which let Alken take hold of her body. Using Yuu's body Alken opens a portal to Twisted wonderland (His original domain) to find his damaged body but Yuu is able to exile Alken from her body. Yuu being very weak from Alken taking over her body passes out on the side of the road where the black carriage picks her up and takes her to NRC.

How Donnie got to TWST: (When Alken used Yuu's body to enter TWST he was unable to close it since Yuu exiled him from her body before he could so that's how Donnie enters TWST) There’s a big explosion outside the school. Crowley goes to investigate and finds a young boy around 14 years old with brown hair. Crowley takes the boy to the infirmary. Crowley tells the dorm leaders (and Yuu) about the boy. They all go to the infirmary (Yuu drags Grim, Ace, and Deuce) the young boy is awake but you can’t really see his face because of bandages. Once he sees Adeuce he starts to freak out. The young boy tries to attack Adeuce but is held back by one of the dorm leaders. Yuu realizes that the boy has the same heart scare that is on his ankle as hers and takes off the bandages to see Donnie’s face all scratched up. Yuu tears up and gently hugs Donnie. All the guys are confused till Yuu explains that Donnie is her brother.

Back story: Yuu and Donnie did come from a loving family. Their father would take them camping all the time (which led Yuu to have a pretty good survival instinct) and their mother would always make cookies for them, you know normal family stuff. It seemed like a perfectly amazing family but one day the father found out Donnie actually wasn't his kid and that Yuu's mother had cheated on him with another man which got her pregnant with Donnie. Yuu's father got drunk and killed her mother in a drunken rage. Yuu's father realized what he did and quickly hid the body (Yuu saw it all). The day after, Yuu's father takes Donnie and her out for a "Fun family camping trip like usual". It seemed normal till at midnight Yuu's father rolled a tarp out and placed a sleeping 6 year old Donnie onto it. Yuu's father grabs his gun and hands it to Yuu whom he had woken up once he placed everything together. Yuu's father tells her to shoot Donne but she refuses with a terrified look on her face. Yuu's father tries to angrily grab the gun from Yuu but she keeps tugging it away, after a bit of tugging Yuu accidentally pulls the trigger shooting her father in the head and killing him. Yuu, terrified of what she did (She's 8 at the time) grabs supplies and places a blanket over her father's head. Yuu wakes up Donnie and pulls him along into the forest without showing him their Father. (While running Donnie scrapes his knee) After a long while of running the two siblings come upon a cleared out area of the forest that has rocks lined up in a circular in some sort of ritual-like way. A tall man dressed as a jester approaches the two, he offers some food which the two hungerly scarf down as the man magically heals Donnie's scrape. The man offers a place to stay at “his” cabin, Yuu accepts and the man takes the two to his cabin. In the cabin the two siblings see pictures of clowns performing in the circus. The jester-like man offers for the two to stay longer if they're willing to help him. The two agree and shake the man's hand, the two feel a painful burning sensation on their bodies. A small red heart appears on the back of Yuu's neck while a red heart forms on Donnie's ankle. The man then introduces himself as Alken, the god of chaos and mischief. Yuu raises Donnie in the cabin but Alken sometimes helps too. When aloud, Alken can sometimes possess the two's bodies like puppets. After a long time Yuu is now 16 and she goes out to pick berries for a pie. She trips over some rocks and tumbles down a steep hill and passes out, once she wakes up she is now in TWST.

Other lore of the back story: Yuu used to live in a village that would kill people that were found to be "Witches" (Think of the witch trials in America during the 1800's). When Yuu was five some of the community accused her family of being witches since they used herbs to heal and believed in many gods the just one like the towns folk. They chased Yuu's family out of the village and into the forest. Yuu's mother had just given birth to a little girl who was terrible deformed which caused her a lot of breathing problems and since Yuu's mother had just given birth she was extremely weak and couldn't run far. The towns folk were able to catch up. Yuu's pleaded with the villagers that had chased his family to let them go. The villagers however did not listen to his please but instead said they'd leave them alone if Yuu's father gave the new born baby (They called the baby a monster since they thought she was a hell spawn) to them and never returned. Yuu's father did as the villagers demanded and gave them the baby. Yuu's family left to leave in a cottage in the woods after that. a few years later when Yuu was seven she and Donnie snuck back into the village to go to a fair. even though they both wore masks and disguises they were found out and given the "Witches mark" which was a hot brand that marked them as witches. The village would give "Witches" the witches mark to show someone was accused of being a witch. The villagers would give "found witches" a "Second chance to be purified in the eyes of god and ridden of the devil's trickery" but even if that rare chance they would still be treated worse then slaves or servants.
