it is a part of nonbinary culture to take a photo of any (pointlessly) gendered product when there are not two options but three. "For men/boys", "for women/girls" and "for *text*".
today in a pharmacy I saw vitamin B complexes "for men", "for women" and "for nervous system, hair and nails"

hilarious and gender affirming transmasc/transfem t4t couple moment: went to a smoke shop to look at weed accessories, cashier takes our IDs that have our deadnames and pre-transition photos on them, comes back and hands them to us correctly, but goes "oh my god, I'm so sorry, wrong ID's! I handed them back the wrong way!" my girlfriend instantly caught on but i had to stand there like ??? before leaning in and going "we're both transgender, you're fine." life is great, i love being trans, t4t love forever

Candy Darling on her deathbed (1974) photog: Peter Hujar
Darling died of lymphoma on March 21, 1974, aged 29, at the Columbus Hospital division of the Cabrini Health Care Center. In a letter written on her deathbed and intended for Warhol and his followers, Darling wrote, "Unfortunately before my death I had no desire left for life ... I am just so bored by everything. You might say bored to death. Did you know I couldn't last. I always knew it. I wish I could meet you all again." Her funeral, held at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, was attended by huge crowds. Julie Newmar read the eulogy. Darling's birth name was never spoken by the minister or any of the eulogizers. Faith Dane played a piano piece, and Gloria Swanson saluted Darling's coffin.

Trans culture is stealing something from your friend and hiding in a gendered bathroom only to realize they're transmasc and can in fact, still enter the women's bathroom

"I've met people who identify as shapeshifters, who identify as a third sex, as no sex, who identify as androgynous, bigendered, who identify as genderbenders, as genderblenders - so much exists that we don't have much language for, that really I think that the movement is going to develop beyond just male-to-female and female-to-male, but really open up a new spectrum between them as well"
Leslie Feinberg, Transexual Menace, 1996 (dir. Rosa Von Praunheim)

When did the "it's okay to date whoever you like" change into "it's transphobic to have preferences"?

So often online and in media, the negatives of being trans are emphasised, but I think it’s also important to talk about the positives. For me, being trans is a sadness, a longing, but it is also a fulfilling and exciting joy. Seeing yourself, not just in a literal sense, but knowing who you are after so long of searching - it’s refreshing, it’s freeing, it’s *happiness*. My smile feels like my own. I have found a community, a chance to connect, a word that conveys so much of a shared experience. I have found acceptance - and to be accepted as who you really are, instead of who you were told to be, is a beautiful and wonderful thing.
I truly hope you feel the same, and if you don’t, that you feel it one day too. There is hope for us, folks, and there are brighter days to come.
Sure, I wish I could have been born in a body that reflected who I was more accurately. But who knows the person I would have turned out to be then? Who knows what life I would have had? Being trans, for all its downsides, has undoubtedly broadened my perspective - it has helped me to be unapologetically queer and comfortable in who I am. It has helped me to understand what it truly means to be proud, and yourself.

sitting here with my weighted blanket on top of me, my pride flags hanging up around me, and my new rainbow sensory slug right next to me, trying to figure out if the reason i felt like an outcast to all my peers as a child was because i’m trans or some undiagnosed neurodivergency
