This poll actually did help.
Some hours after posting, I realised that I was checking this post too often. And every time I was hoping to see the first option winning. And was upset that it's not.
That... Says something.
I've known I'm not cis since I was 14, — and have been out as nonbinary for more than two years now. Being nonbinary always seemed logical for me, as I never thought of myself as a man. Despite being happy to be perceived as a boy and a young man, despite wanting to be called a son, brother, husband and father, I identified as enby. It was a fact: "my gender is not female, but I cannot be a man, therefore, I am nonbinary".
But why can't I be a man?
Because I can't transition to the point when people will see me as a man undoubtedly. Because I can't change my ID and be stealth. Because I can't betray feminism and my sapphic identity. Because when I become a recognised expert in my field, people will see me as just another male scientist. Because I don't fit the expectations for a man and will not give transness a good look by being the best of men. Because my behaviour, acceptable for a nonbinary person who is read as a "woman plus", is alarming for a man, — I am a strong independent assertive "woman plus", but an aggressive dangerous rabid man full of red flags.
I am a good enby. The androgynous, imperceivable, confusing, breaking the gender binary and eating it's wreckage for breakfast. But I'm a bad man. Bad for cishet people, as I'm too weak, too emotional, too "unaffected by severely traumatizing shit that the government of my country does to men", too "has an F in his ID and female anatomy". Bad for queer people, as I'm too gender conforming, too masculine, too "to simplify , a heterosexual man", too dangerous.
And apparently, that's me. I'll give a try to being a bad man. A genderqueer man that from now on will use he/they in English and masculine pronouns in languages that don't have a neutral pronoun. A son, a brother, a boyfriend that someday will be a husband and a father.
Let's see how it works.
