Headcanons:

From 1 to 10, how good parents would the Uppermoons be? Gn reader. (I warn you, you might not like some results, I'm trying to be as objective and close to canon as posible).

Warnings: Mentions of infanticide, Mentions of child-neglect, Implied child abuse and Unhealthy parent-child relationships.

Gyutaro:

He raised his sister by his own since he was 13 and barely had resources. No matter what, his child will grow up feeling safe, loved and content even in the worst of places. They would not have any self-steem issues and would trust Gyutaro anything, they would not hide if they need help nor feel afraid to ask for it. Gyutaro would be both protective and permissive, he would let the child do anything they want as long as they don't get hurt. His actions would be always loving and gentle.

The problem is that Gyutaro would not teach them to be kind, compassionate, or good in general. Because how he grew up he would raise the to survive and step over others, so his children would not be good making friends and would probably become bullys in the best case scenario. Between this and the fact Gyutaro would grow way too attached for it to be healthy, there would be a high dependance between the child and parent in this relationship.

You would be able to intervene (Gyutaro would support you and help you as he can even if he didn't feel you were doing something necesary), it would be your role to teach social skills and values, besides setting more limits. (Because of this you have to be understanding when Gyutaro becomes the favorite parent.) But the child will be happy and mostly healthy.

Gyokko:

You do know this mf eats children, right? Gyokko would kill them the second they don't appreciate his art the way he wants them to, even at an infant age. He never wanted children to begin with, he thinks that, at worst, they are a burden and waste of both time and space, at best, they are dinner.

Hantengu:

One extra point base because he canonly had children, so he probably knows more or les what must be done. The problem is that he would become frustrated and paranoid rather easy. At worst he will kill them, at best he will leave them for big periods of time and come back to see how are they doing every once in a while, try to be a parent again, and then leave again to make this circle. He tries but he is not in the mental position to raise anything.

If you are there he would not kill the child, since he would need the support from the clones and they would not do it, but would still leave everything to you at the end of the day.

Sekido:

Sekido cares a lot, he loves his child, but he is not good at demostrating it. He would have an acting role into parenting, but his language in general is very aggressive, so his child might grow up fearing him. He would take care and protect the child with everything and would teach him everything he knows and his values. The children would not feel safe to ask for help to Sekido, but he would always know by one look if something is wrong and probably handle it by his own.

If your teachings are against his or he thinks they are not necesary he will be actively against you efforts with the child, qnd would be loud about it. The child would probably end very similar to him, and he would be showing the pride he would feel about it. Sekido's children would grow into responsable, physically healthy, powerful and angry but functional adults, but it would be questionable if they would ever feel loved by him, but they knew they were protected and cared for. You are still the favorite parent.

Karaku:

He is very liked by his child, unlike they know Karaku is likes them. The problem is that Karaku would be paying way more attention to you than to them, would not take effort in teaching and raising them. He would play with them and stay around, so he would inevitably set an example, but not good ones. He would treat his children more as if they were his friends, but apoiling them a lot.

He would be more of a silly older brother than a parent, leaving everything to you. He would not stop you from raising them as you see fit and will collaborate in whatever instruction you tell him (as long as you remind him constantly). Also, his children would not be afraid to ask him for advice (don't let them trust those advises) and Karaku would be willing to help and protect, but in exchange he is the dad that can't answer a single question about the child but still manage to be their favorite parent.

Urogi:

Again, Hantegu in canon had children and I would bet my tongue that it was Urogi's personality the one he showed around them. He knows all of the important information, actively reaches for them and makes sure to show affection as much as he can, both verbally and physically, he also would try to teach them some values and skills and would be 100% invested in their hapiness.

Most of the time he would take his child off your hands and play with them all day and cuddle them very late at night, but he is not exactly the most responsible or the best role model. He does loses them and find them himself from time to time, their manners are very bad and you barely have time to teach them anything before Urogi takes them again. He turns them into little savages, but they are emotionally healthy, soacially mature and happy, the children feel very loved and taken care of by him. Urogi is also the parent who comforts them with junk food and sweets, paying attention to favorites, so he easily becomes the favorite.

If it wasn't because of sometimes being too carefree with them and being unable to teach them to function properly in a civilization he would be the perfect parent. Also a point less for not letting you do anything, barely letting the children form a bond with you without him in between.

Aizetsu:

Aizetsu would love to have a child with you, but he would alse be very scared. He would never want to hurt a child of his, so he comes distant at times. This makes the children to not be comfortable asking for help to him but not really afraid to do so, even though most of the time they feel Aizetsu won't be able to help (he doesn't give a confident vibe). Everytime is a surprise to everyone, even to Aizetsu, when he does help, he also tries to talk to them, knows how to affection amd teaches them values ("do not make other people sad or angry").

The main problem is that it's never by his own accord, he can't do anything before asking you if it's ok or if he should do it. He trust that you know better than him even if you tell him you don't. If you don't motivate him everytime to parent the children he will be too afraid of doing something wrong to do it. He is still around even when not parenting and never hides his loce for the children, so they do grow healthy and loved even by their clearly hesitant parent.

Nakime:

Oh, Nakime does NOT want children, at all. She would abandon the to you and never see them again. She has one point because at least she would never try to kill them, but this woman is child-free. That is not the life she wants and it's not the life she is going to set for. Try to convince her otherwise and you will never see her again. Her house, her rules.

Akaza:

Akaza doesn't like children, until he has his. He becomes a protector, a provider and a guardian to them. He loves them and shows it as much as he can with both words and actions. When they are sick or need something he jumps into taking care of them. He also teach them values and skills, tell them to choose wisely their company, doesn't let them get hurt, is always present, makes sure they stay healthy and makes sure to know them well.

The main problem is that Akaza is overprotective, he acts as if they will die the second he leaves them alone, and the children feel that they lack freedom and space. He brushes you off if you try to intervine, ans since he is honest with his opinion of weaklings their children fear slightly afraid to ask for help, even if Akaza already has most things covered in a daily basis. That is also a problem since they don't start dealing with their own problems until they are older, making learning more difficult.

Akaza is a strict parent, caring but can be a bit too much at times. His children will grow into nothing but respectable adults, but they would be way too sheltered, even though they would be aware Akaza loves them and is trying his best.

Douma:

Douma is good pretending, he is good listening, he is good parent, or at least he is good at faking being one to everyone, including his child. While he would not help them, his children would be ok with telling Douma his problems, and Douma would listen and validate their feelings, but also would send them to just be happy in his cult. He would not do anything bad to them, but he also would not be actively doing anything good for them. He would leave them to you and trust you to be the parent, since he is barely aware he should step in as one.

Still, the child does view him as a parent and love him as such. They feel loved, protected and even spoiled since Douma would at least play with them and make sure they not only meet their basic needs inside his cult, but would also show his favoritism to them over other children at the cult and make sure to give them things they want once in a while. He just never make a mistake with them, and he can answer for them even if he is not attached or trying to parent them. There is also the fact that for some reason the children would feel the need to constantly change the answer of who is the favorite parent, depending on who is asking.

Kokushibou:

Kokushibou DID abandon his children and wife to chase after Yoriichi, remember? He clearly is not the type to form a bond with his own damn children. He would teach them, at chance only the eldest son, the way of a samurai. Besides that.... nothing, it's all up to you. While he would guide them to be disciplined and respectful he would alse preasure them a lot, and when he is not doing so he wouldn't even be around.

You would be the only parent, the children would view Kokushibou more as a sensei than anything else, so unless it's an issie with their learning they would not trust their needs to him whe he is, and he would not protect them or help them if it's not related to a sword fight.

He would set some positive examples and impacts at least.

Two weeks after his first meeting with you, Bucky and Sharon Carter rolled up to a Tribeca hotel in a black SUV. His driver, Robbie, was also protection for his date tonight.

Robbie parked and Bucky stepped out, then went around and opened the other door for the blonde, who stepped out to reveal a black mini dress and steep black red bottoms. Bucky could tell that she wasn’t wearing anything else, and although it was intended to be alluring, it had no effect on Bucky.

But he played the game, smiling at her smirk as they headed into the lobby.

“This is way outside of your wheelhouse, isn’t it Bucky? Are you sure you are not trying to give it a go again?”

Sharon turned toward Bucky and looked up at him.

Bucky stepped back and cleared his throat, establishing a boundary.

“Sharon, we talked about ground rules before we came. No. We are not giving “it” a go again. If that is a problem for you, we don’t need to go in here. Robbie can take you home. I’ll find another way to get in.”

Bucky’s face was serious, and Sharon’s smile dropped.

Sam, Steve, and Bucky each had a go at Sharon, and it just wasn’t destined to be along term thing. But that didn’t stop her from trying to get with one, or all of them, again.

“Robbie is my boy, he’s rescued me from more than one of your Valkyrie get togethers gone wrong in the past.”

Sharon looked wistful. Bucky almost felt bad. Almost. He knew how manipulative Sharon was.

“Listen Shar. You said you wanted to be friends. We are not a thing anymore. I know you love attention. Here is your chance. If we go in here, you can have some fun, and I can get what I need for Valkyrie. There is not going to be anything happening between me and you in here. Got it?”

Sharon batted her eyes.

“You don’t even want to watch? Sam loved it when we came.”

Bucky paused at that bit of information, but just decided to ignore it.

“Nope. You’re free as a bird.”

Sharon cleared her throat and smoothed her dress.

“Good. You won’t cramp my style then.”

“Right.”

Bucky took Sharon’s arm and steered her to the right, into the closed-for-the-private-function restaurant.

There was a tall man, dressed all in black, who was making sure of the identities of all who entered. After checking Bucky and Sharon in, he waved a long arm around the corner into the restaurant, where people, all dressed in black, are mingling, enjoying cocktails, and talking amongst themselves.

Sharon ordered a prosecco and walked over to a table while Bucky ordered bourbon. She picked up a card.

“This is the ice-breaker mixer portion of the evening. I’m off to find someone with a different eye color than I came with.”

She looked up at Bucky and into his blue eyes.

“See you later, Alligator.”

She smiled and glided away to a beautiful young lady with long dark hair and alabaster skin.

Bucky reconsidered what Sharon said about watching as a short redhead sidled up to him. He put on a tight smile and answered the question that she read from the card.

“Ummmm. Reverse cowgirl,” he said absentmindedly, trying to be polite while scanning the place for you.

After about 45 minutes of awkward mingling on Bucky’s part, the host called everyone’s attention and gave some ground rules detailing what was to be allowed in the clubhouse, which was not far away. By the time Utu brought up the rear, you were nowhere in sight.

Bucky’s brain was scrambled; he’d forgotten his mission and could only think to explore his desires with you. Honestly, he’d forgotten that Sharon was there.

“Inanna?”

Bucky looked down at Sharon without registering her features.

“I don’t know anyone named Inanna.”

Please do not rush me. Requests will be filled as I have time and inspiration--and because of this, a lot of the time they will be completed out of submission-date-order.

I can write headcanons, short scenarios, rankings, and matchups. Most of what I post won't be longer than a few thousand words tops, so please don't expect anything too elaborate from me for now.

I do not accept "Emergency Requests." While I'm okay with writing heavier subjects, they can be difficult to touch on, so I'll fill them at whatever pace makes me comfortable.

If I've already posted general/relationship HCs for a character, please be a little more specific for any requests regarding them. ie don't send "nsfw for so-and-so" if I've already done basic nsfw HCs. Something even just a little more specific, like "nsfw for so-and-so with a shy s/o" is fine.

I can write for male or female reader, but prefer to keep things gender-neutral as much as possible. If you request a specific gender for the reader in a request, but I determine that it would have no bearing on what I write, I will disregard the specified gender and keep it gn. (if you'll notice in my writing, I try to only use the pronoun "you" for the reader, avoiding even "they" unless sentence structure demands it. Just makes it easier for everyone to be immersed.)

❥ All of my works (so far) are x reader and I probably won't write stories featuring any OCs that aren't my own. If any of my stories ever feature one (or more) of my OCs I'll state it on top of the description.

❥ All of my stories are written in second person unless stated otherwise.

❥ I prefer to write female or gender neutral reader (but don't hesitate to ask me about male reader requests).

❥ Requests might take some time to write (I attach great importance to my personal space/private life—self-care is very important for me!).

❥ I like to write song-fics but I probably won't take any requests because my music taste is different from the average (further information below).

There are specific rules that determine what I will/won't write. But sometimes there are exceptions, so feel free to ask—I won't bite!

What I WON'T write:

ABORTION - I hope this one explains itself.

ABUSE - if the character is the one inflicting anything crucial to the reader or the other way round (especially in romance or with children as victims); talking about it is okay; sometimes side characters "harming" the reader/other characters might also be okay but I can't really tell you what's okay and what's not because it really depends on the case (the kind of abuse/how detailed/the plot/identity of victim & perpetrator/circumstances/etc.). Abuse is a very crucial topic that won't trigger me but might trigger other people and I also don't support any abusive actions at all nor will I ever romanticize them! I'd see less issues with this topic if the story's intention is to spread awareness! So don't be afraid to ask! I will tell you if it's okay or not).

CHEATING - neither the character doing it to the reader nor the reader doing it to the character (only exception: unwanted/forced/arranged and loveless marriage with a side character—not to be confused with unhappy marriage).

GORE/BODY HORROR - I don't mind blood or violence but I won't write anything that's too descriptive.

HATE/DISCRIMINATION - I don't support any kind of hate or discrimination and never will. My blog is a safe space for all kinds of people in this world. However, there are a few exceptions such as discrimination in a historical context or as a character background that shaped their personality. I might also write discrimination to spread awareness or if a side character is discriminating another character but gets to feel the consequences of their actions. So feel free to ask me and I'll tell you if I'll write your request or not!

INCEST - explains itself.

OMEGAVERSE - I neither understand it nor feel comfortable with it.

RAPE/SEXUAL ASSAULT - mentions are okay (f.e. to spread awareness) but actual descriptions aren't.

SMUT - I might post smut that comes from my own ideas but don't take any requests at the moment because I've never posted something like this ever before. So it might probably change over tim. (I'll write spice and suggestive stories though as long as they ain't smutty.)

SONG-FICS - I really like to write them myself but I probably won't take requests since my music taste isn't average and I don't like most popular music. I will make exceptions though if the requested songs somehow meet my taste/mood (I prefer dark wave, post punk, synth pop, metalcore, and rock/alternative metal in general. general tumblr etiquette

tag your stuff, they wont be seen otherwise.

do not crosstag (tag a group youre complaining about), or tag unrelated stuff

reblog, reblog, reblog! if you see a post that interests you, reblog! this is super important as there is no algorithm and all the like button does is basically save the post for later

tag triggering things!! [thing] tw or [thing] cw should suffice, dont tag every possible version of a trigger, you only have 30 tag slots, it's the reader's responsibility to block all possible tags as theres no limit on blocked tags. I suggest trigger tagging after the 20th tag as tags after the 20th one dont show up on search (stupid I know) but still gets blocked okay

get a profile photo as soon as possible, this site has a massive bot problem and if youre thought to be one you will be blocked without hesitation

if youre on pc, I highly recommend you get xkit, its a browser extension that helps a lot with your tumblr experience

these are the basics, these have been talked about over and over with twitter refugees as well so I wont drabble on them too much

mogaiblr etiquette

1: keep in mind the intersectionality

the mogai tumblr community has a lot of overlap with other communities, namely the disabled community, nonhuman community and plural community. respect them, and listen to them, for they are your allies. you will see the overlapping community get referred to as "LIOM" a lot (like in my username), it stands for labels, identities and other minorities and is meant to be an all encompassing umbrella.

2: make your posts accessible

as I just said, theres a lot of disabled people in this community, so its important to make your posts as accessible as possible. I will talk more on this later

3: dont be afraid to ask individual blogs

there is no subreddit posting system, and if you just post a general question you likely wont get any answers, if you get seen at all, so dont shy away from asking individual blogs about stuff, if their asks are open, it means they WANT you to talk with them and ask them stuff, so never view it as bothering them. the askbox doesnt always say "asks" and similar stuff though due to being customizable, so just know its the little button to the left of the follow button.

4: check pinned posts

pinned posts are posts that are pinned on top of a persons blog, when you open someones blog, theyll be the first post to be seen upon scrolling down. a lot of people use these to introduce themselves, set boundaries, give request rules, talk about availability, etc. so its important to read these through whenever possible.

more on accessibility

1: image descriptions!!!

its basically where you describe the image, as the name suggests, tumblr has an alt. text function for it but it doesnt always work so little [boxes like this] right under the image is ideal for most, yes it makes it look less pretty, but is your aesthetic worth more than someone whos visually impaired not being able to understand the post? trust me no one cares if your posts are pretty or not. anyway, the ideal way to know how to describe an image is pretend youre explaining it out loud to someone across from you, who cant look at your screen for whatever reason.

2: plain text!

yes, tumblr has a lot of cool text features (like bold or italic, or even colored [PT: like bold, italic, or even colored. end PT]) but this is, again, unfortunately inaccessible, due to tumblr being a broken website it often doesnt register formatted text for screenreaders, plus it can be hard to navigate for people with disabilities even without a visual disability. this goes for fancy text and symbols as well (like stars emoticons or a cursive text font). so you have two options, offer a plain text alternative or dont format text at all. offering plain text can be done in the same way as image IDs (theres even an example above).

3: eyestrain

bright colors are awesome, trust me, Id know, but not everyone can view them properly without a migraine or even worse, a seizure. so its important to tag your posts with eyestrain if you decide to make a brightly colored flag, or even better, do your best to make the flag accessible instead, with slightly duller colors with more (or less depending on the flag) contrast. it doesnt make your flag as ugly as youd think, trust me ^^

4: availability cant do one or more of the things mentioned above for any reasons? dont fret! theres blogs out there that can help you, most of them do this out on their own accord.

currently the most active ones are @plaintextpro , @accessmogai and @transflorall (my blog hehe), who specialize in plain text, image descriptions and eyestrain-help respectively

to answer your question, yes, all of my ocs would help you explore your gender identity if you’re struggling with it ! going into more detail, the ones that could help you the most (off the top of my head) are morgan, jude, august, casey, percy, sorin, and salem ! morgan and jude both questioned their gender identity when they were younger so they have the most knowledge about things of the sort, and i say that jude is actually kind of somewhere on the agender scale, but he doesn’t really think about gender too much because it stresses him out. (morgan just does not care.) august is really supportive, and he just knows a lot about gender identity, and casey is really supportive as well !! some people have probably tried to pick on him before for being “girly” and “not acting like a man” and he doesn’t take shit from anybody. (for such a sweet face he really knows how to make you insecure). he’s never really thought about gender a lot before so he might be a bit confused at first but he really does try his best to be supportive, and he even researches more into it to be as helpful as possible !! percy’s a nerd. he knows like .. everything about everything. sorin has read books about gender, more specifically in different cultures, so he has quite a lot of knowledge on the topic. does his best to help you explore it. ,, and salems just salem.

now, elijah, ivan, laurence, and darci are also supportive, but don’t have that much knowledge on the topic. elijah is kinda a himbo, and he’s very confused, but he’s trying !! researches with casey but let’s him do most of the talking when it comes to helping you because he’s scared of looking dumb in front of you. ivan’s supportive but he doesn’t know a lot about gender. just never really thought of it until you brought it up. pulls all nighters gathering information to try and gain more knowledge of gender to try and help you explore it. laurence and darci never really thought about gender, but they do their best to try and help you explore it !

My #1 post of 2022

I think the fundamental issue with Anne Elliot’s character in Persuasion is that some people (eg. idiots writing a screenplay for Netflix because an algorithm told them to) think the fact that Anne in the novel is passive, meek, and self-effacing, is only because she’s a woman in 1817 who is oh so oppressed! Which is like, completely ignorant of the fact that for the time period, she occupies a place of enormous privilege. She’s the white daughter of a wealthy white land-owning male, and while she can’t vote or work, she’s still pretty high up on that regency hierarchy. There’s no reason to conclude that all, or even most, of her personality is due to being a woman in a patriarchal society, and not just her natural disposition.

This is obvious if you’ve read Austen’s novels, and actually find out that plenty of women are NOT passive, meek, and self-effacing (Elizabeth Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, etc.). Even within Persuasion itself, there are other women who are not, like both of Anne’s sisters, Lady Russell, and Mrs. Croft. And since nearly all of Austen’s female characters occupy a similar social position, you can assume that they all face nearly identical gendered oppression. And yet somehow still ended up with distinct personalities!

Austen recognizes and admires Anne’s personality, the parts that are compassionate, kind, polite, and modest (in the sense of being unconceited, not sexually). Austen does not see these as negative traits, and neither should the reader.

But, for Austen, moderation is the key to all things, and this is a theme that crops up in a lot of her novels. The whole premise of Persuasion is that you can take even positive traits too far. Anne is a decent and unselfish person, willing to sacrifice her own comfort for others. But before the novel begins, she allows herself to be persuaded to act against her own personal inclinations, in order to please her friends and family. This causes both she and Wentworth a lot of misery, certainly much more pain and distress than would have been suffered by her friends and family if she had just married Wentworth in the first place.

What Austen is saying is that it’s fine, and even admirable, to be unassuming and selfless, if that’s your natural personality, but that you should take care to not let that natural inclination to please others interfere with your own happiness. That in some cases, doing so actually causes more suffering than just doing what is best for yourself. It’s basically a guide for women like Anne, praising them for the sweet and noble aspects in their natures, while warning them to still take care of themselves.

Turning the character into a secret girlboss who’s just living in the wrong century, completely erases this very important theme, and one that resonates even with many modern women, who despite Hollywood’s opinion on the matter, are not all snarky, confident, and assertive. There’s nothing wrong with women who are those things, but women are people, and therefore their personalities vary to a near infinite degree.

The current vogue for only allowing female characters who are quirky, sassy, and confident is as deeply sexist as the idea that only women who are demure, meek, and self-effacing are acceptable. And Austen, a woman born in 1775, never did that. She wrote female characters with a wide variety of personalities and saw the worth (and the foibles) in all of them, from Elizabeth Bennet to Anne Elliot. No two were alike, but they all had something to offer, and a voice that deserved to heard.

my request does not have much to do with the upper moons directly, but rather with their partners. Imagine that one of the hashiras, any one of them, discovers the human partner of the upper moons and captures them to question why the reader chooses demons over humanity.

I imagine this could turn into something along the lines of "no, not the demons, just my partner" or "I don't care about humanity in general", etc, with the hashira in question feeling confused and depending on who it is, even outraged and disgusted at the idea of a human with a demon (Sanemi would be most likely the latter reaction, I believe). I know this can be a little confusing, but it's just an excuse for the reader to give the reasons why he/she chose to be with such a superior moon, even knowing what they are and what they do with human beings.

And I would like to thank you for write my previous request. You are amazing!

This is pretty nice ask, specially considering how bad most of them were to Tanjiro (I understand attacking Nezuko, but Tanjiro was only a child wanting to protect his last family member alive, to voach for his death and physically try to harm him more than strictly necesary to be able to do the job... really says a lot about moral standing).

Besides, I wanted to do something of them for a while. Let's see how this goes, and sorry for the wait.

GN Human Reader being an Uppermoon's (could be any) S/O is interrogated by the Hashira. This is before the Hashira Meeting with Tanjiro and Nezuko, but after Tomioka met them already.

Warnings: Referenced cannibalism, Mentioned torture, Use of violence, Implied sexual content, Reader losing sanity (and hating Hashira, making harsh judgements with the information they get), and Implied Hashira death (Alternate Universe, Muzan wins). I warn Hashira fans, this might be NOT for you.

You are tied up under the sun, and you can, for once, feel a grasp of the fear your beloved feels about it. Sun means pain, Sun means danger, Sun means death... As a human you were never meant to face that part of the day, you should have been afraid of the night, of the monsters and shadows lurking in the dark, there was a time you did. Then, inside the darkness, you did found fangs, eyes that shine in the dark, man-eating creatures just like the ones that you find in the folklore horror stories. The ones that you can hear people talk and lie about in taberns, showing scars and animal skeletons.

You have felt those fangs against your skin, bloodied hands, been gazed with those eyes as the only source of life in such a gentle ways. Loving, tender, sweet and kind touch. The opposite of the touch you have recieved just now, a kick in the stomach, making you relieved you haven't eating anything since you got taken here yesterdey... you would have thrown up, you swear as you cough... blood. More blood. It wasn't enough every drop you lost last night, at this point they are going to kill you. "Ara ara, Shinazugawa-san. Don't you think you are getting too far? We won't be getting any answers if you kill our prisioner." This people are crazy, you feel the violent one, Shinazugawa, grab the back of your neck and force you to look up. It hurts.

"I don't give two shits! This demon sucker wants to side them? Then we might just treat it as those monsters." Look who is talking. "I think Shinazugawa is right. We haven't reacieve any answers until now. If Kosho in one night was not able to make this freak talk, then why should we try anymore?" Says the freak who brings his snake pet to the job, job which includes torturing people, it seems. The giant one also adds his opinion. "It would probably be mercifull to end their suffering, decieved by a demon into believing they can love a human. Namu Amida Butsu."

The small woman, the doctor, found you at daylight as you were buying groceries, asked you for a private talk, saying she needed your help finding her older sister. She said that sister has been missing for a while and that she was asking people around for clues, even if they were not directly in the scene. You recognized the uniform of the slayers from the corpses your beloved tends to bring home, but you didn't think much of it. You thought that maybe she was looking for a demon in town, and you thought not answering would be more suspicious, confident that she would not rival an Uppermoon if it was about your beloved, if it was another demon you didn't know about, then you had no reason to care. You did not expect to be knocked up and wake up in a place infested with wysteria scent.

You hate it, you hate wysteria, poison, in makes you feel sick. But it also makes you feel sick. Is this why nobody has found the slayer's base? Because is surrounded by poison? It obviously doesn't harm you, but... the more you breath this cursed scent the more you know there is no hoping you will be rescued.

Now you fear for your life, you can see the Shinazugawa one raise his sword. Is this it? You didn't even get to say goodbye! There is someone waiting for you at home! You can not die here, surrpunded by enemies, your beloved forever ignorant of what happened to you... you can't leave like that, you can't! Thankfully, the young man with divided haori takes his hand before the sword can stab you... in the leg... was this all just to scare you into talking? You should not trust that. "Let me try." Says with a soft voice, finally something non-menacing since you woke up.

The spike haired man pulls his arm harshly to take it back from the other's grip. "What the hell, Tomioka?! Do you think you will be able to the something put of this mother fucker better than the rest?!" Tomioka, the gentle one, doesn't answer, just looks at Shinazugawa, unmoved by his violence, and knees in front of you, staying at your eye level. "Why?" Is the only thing he asks. "Is he an idiot or he really thinks he will be answered like that?" And just for that you are willing to talk, because this is the first one around who is actually nice with you without having to fake having human decency.

""Why" what?" You ask, because ir could be several things. "Why don't you answer?" "Why are you in a relationship with a demon?" "Why are you in this situation?" "Why do you love-" "Why is that Uppermoon different?" He frowns harder at each word, you can tell he is angry, but also trying, genuinely trying, to be understanding. He is the only one doing so right here and now, even though his mind seems more focused on something else. Maybe someone? Also the way he worded it... "different".

You know that special person, because demons might not be humans but you still believe they are people, is always different to others. That is why they are special, and that is why the bond you have with them is different to bonds you have with other. You know. But... what is different? What is so special it managed to get you in this situation?

You remember the they you met your beloved, just like today you felt you would die, but that feeling was burried with the sensation of being spellbound. You were not afraid, you were attracted, and those feelings were reciprocated. With time, which is a nothing compared with the amount of years your beloved has lived, has bringed you both close. Has given you good and bad memories, good and bad feelings, good and bad moments... you have felt happiness, frustration, empathy, sympathy, anger, sadness, pleasure, disgust, impotency, pain, LOVE... so much love you would not change any of those things. ""That Uppermoon".... is home." You can't think of other way to say it. "Is home", you have been picturing the face, the voice, the touch, the smell, even the damn taste of that special someone every second of fear and pain, thinking "I want to go home".

You hear a small squeal as everyone turns to see the woman of the pink hair and revealing clothes. She looks very shy the second she realizes all the attention is on her, covering her face with her hands, eyes close and you can see some blushing as she shakes her shoulders in uneasiness. "I'm sorry! It's just that... it's so romantic, cute and sooo heartwarming how this love is so deep to the point it's home. I never thought I would find someone with a love like this." You are... so confused right now. While she doesn't really look that threatening she was quiet the whole time until now, and to finally hear her thoughts after everything... it's so confusing. But well, confusion is better than fear.

"Huh? I think it's lame, the fact that this idiot thinks a creature like a demon can love a human. I bet those things are just into vore or something, so they date their food. Not gonna lie, as much as it's weird and disgusting, it's very unique! I think a dumb shit like this deserves such an ending! Direct karma!" Says the guy with jewlery and what the fuck?! And this people call you a freak?! You have never met a demon that has been into things... well... Douma is... whatever, you don't care. You are more than a flashy type of dinner, and you know it. "Don't project your kinks into my love-life, you sick pervert!" Ok, that was a bad idea.

You feel pain as Shinazugawa stamps your head against the floor, you can feel your nose break, making it hard to breath. "I would appreciate if you didn't speak of such obscenities. There is a child here." We all turn to the kid, almost at the corner, he doesn't seem to be paying attention... honestly, you forgot he was there, and as incredible as it sounds, you have the feeling he also forgot you are here. "I think we should not lose focus! No offense, Tomioka-san, but I don't think your question is relevant! Thos person is still intimating with a demon, an Uppermoon no less! We should have no consideration, since it's obvious this individual doesn't have it for the victim's of demon's!" Says the loud blonde, he is not screaming but still talks as if he was speaking over another loud noise. Between everything, it becomes irritating how he speaks so polite but is so decided into making your relationship as something... vile.

"OF COURSE I DON'T GIVE TWO SHITS! DON'T ACT AS IF YOU CARED FOR OTHER HUMANS BEYOND KILLING DEMONS! WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO ME ARE NOT THE ACTIONS OF SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO SAVE OTHERS!" You are also loud, and your voice is now weird from the broken nose. It hurts to breath through it, so you have to take air with your mouth between shouts. "TAKING ADVANTAGE THAT I'M WEAKER THAN YOU TO DO AS YOU PLEASE! AND YOU THINK YOU ARE BETTER THAN ME?! BETTER THAN DEMONS?!" The blonde, the Tomioka guy and the pink haired girl have the decency to flinch, the others just look annoyed by you comments. Now it's a hit in the back that you recieve, you feel the snake freak press his elbow against your spine, thankfully not breaking it, the the bones are cracking a bit and you jave some spams because of it and the pain.

Again, thankfully, the Tomioka guy grabs his wrist and to stop him from doing more harm. "Remember humans can die from things like this. Stop." You only focus on breathing for a while, everything hurts so much. Your gaze becomes dizzy as some tears form in your eyes, but you refuse to let them fall. You are going to die here. This fucking freaks are going to kill you, whenever it's accidental or delibarate, this people are not going to let you live. "Shut up, you freak. Why are you so keen on defending them? What, you you also love a demon?" Tomioka frowns very hard at that, actually looking angry. "I don't need to love someone for not wanting others to suffer an excess of cruelty or to die. People love... and people protect those one love. But loving someone doesn't make you worse! Love make people do stupid but brave things! Why is that wrong for you?!" He even started shouting at the end, he has been so quiet before, just saying the minimun he needed to communicate and maybe even less. This seems personal.

"Tomioka-san. You must consider this person considers that demon victims are not concerning, to the point of siding them. This is nothing but a pitiful soul." There they go again, trying to decide what is right and wrong. Thryng to condemd your being a fucking human that loves someone. "I don't love everyone... People I don't know, that I have never met and never will... what does that has to do with me? Don't think you are better that me because you kill man-eating beings... if you wouldn't drop everything for your beloved ones... then you must have such a pathetic bonds with people...." you start laughing, everyone (or almost everyone) here is pathetic as a human being. They probably think that their job is enough good deed for humanity, so don't even try to actually be good for people and those around them. How else could they be such a group of disgusting-

"Oyakata-sama is here." You hear a soft voice, the child speak. Everyone kneels in front of a man who, like everyone else here, is young, but he is blind. He looks so fragile, sick, a white haired young woman needs to help him to move. This... is what Kibutsuji is looking for?! This?! This is not a threat! Just killing every damn slayer that spans should be enough, then you wouldn't be here! You can only laugh as your body hurts, tears finally falling from your eyes. Everything is so ridiculous.... damn... you are going to die. Everything is so stupid, and you will die. You will die only because you were buying groceries at daylight. You will die and you beloved will not know what happened. You will die here, because of this.

Fuck it! You will die anyway! Don't give a shit anymore! "I can't believe this is what Kibutsuji Muzan was afraid of!" You laugh and cry, laugh and cry, your head hurts, your back hurts, your face hurts, your stomach hurts, your knees hurt, your arms hurt, your heart hurts. IT ALL HURTS! You can see half of the Hashira ready to drop hands, or swords, at you, but hell! You already don't have any damn to give. You were ready to recieve another impact, any other impact, more pain but...

The sound of a biwa resonates with an echo, there is no more sun, but candle lights. You, the Hashira, "Oyakata-sama" and the woman besides him... you all are in "The Infinity Castle...." everyone else looks around, definetely more confused than you. But... What happened? How did they found you? Who found you? "Very well done, Y/N. You did much better than I expected, but you were kept around for something, after all. After all, I didn't let my cells transform you nor kill you as you taked small amounts of blood in those love-bites." The voice is familiar, even if you have only ever heard it thrice at most, there is no way of not knowing who this is. You tremble as if you were a demon in front of him, even if you are doing it more because you are emotionally exhausted, physically in a lot of pain and spiritually relieved... you are safe now. Away from the sun, under the light and comfort of the bloodied moon that you relate to home.

Everyone in your floor, the one of the humans apperently, look up to see Kibutsuji Muzan upside down in what from your perspective looks like a ceiling, but is clearly another floor. Nakime is right besides him, holding her biwa as she shifts her attention from you to the others. "I knew were you were the second you called me, I just had to send the information to Nakime and she brought you here with our guests." You can hear all the Hashira taking out their weapons, and then another note of the biwa sounds as a door appears and open behind you. As weak as you are you turn around.

Kokushibou, Douma, Akaza, Urami (that means Hantengu is inside), Sekido, Karaku, Urogi, Aizetsu, Gyokko and Gyutaro are on the other side of the door. The fact Daki is not there and that Hantengu is already divided and protected speaks in volumes. "Now that everyone is here, I think this is the perfect timing to finish our conflict with the slayers... Permanently." This one is the real one, and you can feel your beloved's anger... Game Over.

Teo’s Tutu by Maryann Jacob Macias and illustrated by Alea Marley

Summary

Teo loves to dance more than anything in the world, but now that his first dance recital is coming up he can’t decide between the sparkly pink tutu that makes him feel on top of the world, or the safe silver shirt and black pants that make him belong.

Justification

I chose this particular book because of its diverse notes and messages. First the main character Teo is an afro latinx child who is experiencing his first brush with assimilation. Even though this is a racially diverse book, which exhibits both of his parents traditional music and dances, the book also demonstrates a clear message of self acceptance. While LGBTQIA+ stories are becoming more and more common amongst children’s literature it is typical for these stories to pertain to the parents or tertiary characters who don’t have specific ages or ethnic backgrounds. Meanwhile this story clearly demonstrates a mixed race child learning to accept his identity through a love of dance as his first step in life.

Evaluation

I particularly enjoyed the illustrations in this book. Not only does the illustrator show Teo and his family's natural hair textures but she also took the time to give everyone in his family the same hairstyle which could also be attributed to the overall theme of gender neutrality. The second thing I loved about this illustrator was the simplicity in the characters' facial expressions. Teo’s joy is easily conveyed when he is smiling and his confusion is disturbing when he is shown staring at himself in a mirror whilst wearing his tutu. If children can see other children demonstrating these emotions then it will be easier for them to accept these emotions in themselves.

The pacing of the story is also something I enjoyed. The story progresses very naturally by exhibiting his love of dance at home, his transition into love of ballet, his growth as a dancer, his fears regarding the big recital, and his realization of the joy of performing. Presenting the story in such a sequence conveys to children how new passions can grow through time and effort.

The point of view in this story is told through the first person i.e. Teo’s perspective. Not only can we see how Teo feels about dance but there are certain parts of the story when Teo tells the audience how much hard work goes into learning ballet. He recognizes that the basic steps are small but provide an important foundation for the entire performance. There are also several instances where Teo tells the audience how wonderful his ballet costume makes him feel through very descriptive language. This is ingenious because if a child can see how happy Teo’s Tutu makes him feel then they in turn will encourage him to wear what makes him happy.

Endlessly Ever After: Pick Your Path to Countless Fairy Tale Endings! By Laurel Snyder and Illustrated by Dan Santat

Summary

In this choose your own fairy tale the main character red riding hood wants to visit her grandmother in the woods but has many different paths she could take to find her. Each path encounters a different adventure with a different fairy tale character to entertain her.

Justification

I chose this book because of my personal experience with choose your own stories. When I worked at a public middle school library there were many children who struggled with reading long continuous stories. In times like this these readers would turn to seemingly small choose your own stories that could have as many as fifty different endings which in turn gave them a sense of accomplishment by reading the story fifty times so to speak. Elementary school children might have a harder time progressing from standard picture books to chapter books so picture books that can be read multiple times with new endings will give them the confidence and interest needed in order to transition into something longer.

Evaluation

The illustrations in this book are very artfully done in a way that helps add the necessary dosage of adventure and at times fear. For example, the scene where red riding hood is walking through a forest of thorns only to find a strange door is very harrowing. The illustrator choose to use whatever negative space that wasn’t being used for text as dark thorny forest space which also makes red riding hood appear much smaller than she is. The illustrator does the same thing in another scene where she is eaten by the wolf. Instead of being too graphic the illustrator chose to make the negative space dark with only red riding hoods face being visible as well as the very distant slash in the sky which is the hunter saving red riding hood. Illustrations like this are a very skillful way of demonstrating to the reader how red riding hood feels overwhelmed by her own fear.

The illustrations of course contribute to the overall mood of the book. On the one hand red riding hood has a goal in mind, which is to get to grandmother's house but she keeps being derailed by adventure after adventure. And no matter how sticky the situation might get, the current path always ends with a new choice to make. Having a variety of choices on hand encourages the reader to be ready for the fear and fun that come with going on adventures. Each choice made might lead to something a bit scary or possibly something a bit funny. By ending each story with what will you choose next the author is encouraging the reader to remember life is full of an infinite amount of choices which could lead you anywhere. Either way you get to choose.

The point of view is always interesting for choose your own adventure novels. Typically the point of view is from the sole main character which is the case here but red riding hood goes through such a variety of adventures so it’s very interesting to see her mood change from adventure to adventure. I do wish another main character such as the hunter or one of the other characters that tend to intertwine in each others stories. Of course I understand making a choose your own story is already difficult enough but I believe seeing the story from an adults or teenagers perspective might help children to recognize adults are capable of fear and anxiety as well.

Josephine: the Dazzling Life of Josephine Baker by Patricia Hruby Powell and Illustrations by Christian Robinson

Summary

This book is a chronicle of Josephine Baker’s life all the way from her humble beginnings in Saint Louis, Missouri all the way to the end of her life where she was honored as a war hero in France.

Justification

I chose this book because there are few children’s books dedicated to an uncelebrated hero such as Josephine Baker. Typically the same dozen or so black activists are chosen to be taught to children due to their roles in the American civil rights movement. Meanwhile Josephine Baker who advocated for blacks worldwide is seldom ever mentioned even though she was awarded France’s highest civilian award for her services in World War II despite her status as american. This book shows scenes where she was rejected by white america and embraced by the world all throughout her life.

Evaluation

The illustrator's cartoony style was chosen on purpose since the author purposely chose to include the ways Josephine Baker was excluded from American society due to the prevalent racism of the time. While nothing explicit is shown there are scenes where “whites only” signs are seen but the characters themselves are nothing more than drawings. I believe this was done with the intention of showing the audience how silly it was to exclude Josephine despite the author's descriptions of Josephine’s hard work. The scene where multiple mixed race characters are all taking a ship to France displays an almost doll like quality due to how the illustrator chose to create the ship with an open design.

I particularly admired the author's chosen language in this book. The author has very skillfully used controlled language to tell Josephine’s life story without shying away from words like racism or other historical topics encountered in the book. The author could’ve easily dumbed down the language of the story or used condescension but instead the author chose to confront the truth without being too distant.

The setting of this book was also beautifully done. Since Josephine’s life spans several countries and several decades the author chose to separate her life into phases. First her beginnings in America, her ascension to France, her work as a spy worldwide during world war ii, her brief fall from the limelight, and finally her resurgence as a household name again. Each phase takes place during a different time period and instead of focusing on the period the author and illustrator chose to focus on her. It would’ve been too difficult or taken too long to describe the time periods in which she lived so instead they only touched on them briefly in order to translate her life experiences. Josephine Baker was known to wear things or do things that were not considered appropriate of the time but celebrated by certain circles. Even when she failed the author and illustrator worked together beautifully to show how this vibrant woman stood out during classically conservative times.

Justification

I was fortunate enough to meet the author Duncan Tonatiuh and listen to his lecture regarding his traditional Mexihcah illustrations. Mr. Tonatiuh wishes to share with the world a forgotten perspective regarding the Aztecs that doesn’t involve a post european invasion. A book like this shares with the audience a rich eye for detail that combines storytelling with facts regarding indigenous culture. The book is informative without info dumping or using condescension.

Evaluation

The illustrations in this book are reminiscent of the traditional indigenous art style used in pre-Columbian codices and Amoxtin. An art form that has drastically dwindled since the fall of the Aztec empire. While the facial expressions are limited at best, the movement of the characters bodies is sublime. Each character seems to move in an almost paper doll like formation and during faster scenes the characters movement more closely resembles the comic book style. Such rapid movement makes the characters feel alive somehow which helps the reader to feel a much closer connection to the story.

The setting of this book is something I admired very much. By living their day to day lives the reader is given a glimpse into Aztec culture without showcasing the bloody history the Aztec empire has become more closely associated with. A step by step guide was also provided and demonstrated by the main characters to offer a more in depth glance into their lives. Even their sculptures were given a tremendous amount of detail in order to further add to the rich history of the Mexihcah and Aztec people. By presenting the Aztec people in a peaceful way the targeted audience can empathize and relate with an often misrepresented culture.

The design and layout are also something to be admired. As stated before the movement of the characters gives the story an almost comic book quality but I believe this to be on purpose. The book states codices of old are largely filled with pictographs and the book itself is folded in an accordion style. By presenting the characters in a constant state of movement with brief lines dictating the story in between each movement, or sequence of movements, the reader can experience the story in a similar method as to how the original codices were formatted.

This picture book is a factual account of the Mendez family's struggles and fight for their children to be enrolled into schools with better education systems. Unfortunately at this time in history “whites only” schools have superior resources available which is why the Mendez family fought for equal education rights in the state of California.

Justification

I chose this book because this court case predated Brown vs. the Board of Education by seven years. The case began the desegregation process in California which would lead to desegregation across the nation. A milestone in the civil rights movement yet hardly talked about or taught in classrooms seems almost criminal to me.

Evaluation

The traditional Mexihcah art style paired with a 1940s court case is a very interesting pairing to me. I believe the author did this with the intent of drawing two connections. First to connect these Mexican children with their Aztec ancestors by showing the audience how their descendents are facing persecution once again from white imperialists. The second reason is to further awareness about racial barriers between certain ethnic groups. The author could’ve chosen to illustrate the white children in a different format but instead these children are also depicted in the Mexihcah art style. This was done to show the audience how the two races aren’t that different from each other after all.

Contrary to Mr. Tonatiuh’s other book this story features more depictions of the characters versus development of the background. He also made more of an effort to give stern, angry, or frustrated faces. The focus on the characters only adds to the setting and overall theme of struggle. In fact, the only smiles are seen on the last two pages when the author remarks how the children were able to become friends after spending enough time with each other.

The use of language is also impressive in this book. Like Josephine the author didn’t hold back on describing the feelings of repression, seclusion, and frustration. Though I did notice nowhere in the book does the author use the word “racist,” or “racism.” He does use “segregation,” or “injustice,” but never “racist.” The author purposely chose to describe why whites did not like Mexicans or other non white children which was described as lack of social behavior, academic skills, and problems with personal hygiene. When asked in front of a judge the character of Mr. Kent affirms his belief that white children are superior to Mexican children in this aspect. On the one hand I think it would’ve been helpful to add the word racism in the text as an explanation to their behavior but on the other hand I understand why Mr. Tonatiuh did it. Adding the word “racist,” could’ve added political pressures to the novel and would have hindered its publication. But then again this is a largely political book to begin with that discusses a pertinent political event to a very young audience.

Saw an interesting point about modern RV compared to the older eras, and thought it might be fun to put my thoughts out there.

So, I personally am a big fan of Red Velvet when it comes to the B-sides. But I really love some of the singles. But I noticed I really don't like alot of the more recent singles. I LOVED Umpah Umpah. I didn't like another single until Queendom. And haven't liked one since.

At first I was thinking of it as, "I'm a classically trained musician. Ofc I hate Feel My Rhythm, Birthday, (and so on)." They honestly are just a mess. I know readers will hate that opinion. But like, you have no idea how much I hate the pre-chorus to chorus in Birthday. They have this build up. Wendy gets in there, and you anticipate it. And then it turns into clown farts one step removed from penis music. It sucks. We need to admit this as a fandom.

Anyway, the point I mentioned at the top is that I saw someone saying that RV has basically stopped the whole Red / Velvet concept. And it's just "a mix" in all their singles now. That they are masters of mixing the concepts in terms of the songs now. I am here to say that I wish they were. I wish with my whole heart. They arn't.

Again, I know this is a polarizing opinion. But hear me out. They went from legit top tier singles, and untouchable B-sides, to some of the worst singles. They sound like these are made for some like, teen pop group. These ladies deserve better.

It just sucks as a fan to not even care about the new album. There was no hype. There was no anticipation. I just had to wait and see. Alot of that is because I know SM. And I know they would do literally zero promotion and so on. I've mentioned on the blog before, but I did work involved with the Queendom comeback. I know first-hand insider stuff about how SM handles them. And it's just as bad as all the rumors.

The point is that I just hate that I don't even get to feel anything when there's an announcement about the group. We had to wait what? 6 years for a new full album? This should have been a huge event.

I kinda lost my train of thought here. But I just wish the group was able to go back to keeping it separate. I loved both sides. I LOVED getting into the theories. I even had my own stupid posts where I dissected the Mystic Shop, and was making my own dumb theory posts as it was releasing. But I have so little interest in the music itself if it's just some random fruity loops garbage. "Heh, yeah, we thought the single was going a little too well. So let's have Joy beat box here, while Yeri just kinda slaps some ham with a chain." Stop it.

Red Velvet is such an amazing group with so much potential in every aspect. The music first and foremost. But the group's identity with their stories and even their supplemental stuff like the Reve Festival story and stuff is just incredible. And they're having all that torn down by these recent years. Maybe I'm just over reacting. But I hope it gets back on course in the near future.

Since The Mole is back now, I wanna share my backstory with the series because this is genuinely bonkers. It was, and I am not kidding, through Mario fan fiction. There was this person on fanfiction.net who basically made a fictitious rendition of The Mole where random Mario characters would compete in the show, and the host was this motherfucker from Mario Party 8

And I am not joking those stories were like The Hot Shit for me for so many years, and it was such a hit with a subsection of people that it spawned a sub-genre of fan fictions where people would put other Mario or even just Nintendo characters into their own Mole game shows. It was absolutely bonkers to witness. I had plans to write one, and I genuinely plotted out ideas for challenges for it, but it never really came through unfortunately.

Having been exposed to the show through the fics first, I was unfortunately spoiled on the identities of the Moles of the actual series' Moles for seasons 1, 2 and 5, which meant I never got to truly experience the actual show without prior knowledge. (Until now anyway!!)

UPDATE: I just found out this guy is STILL AT IT all these years later, currently on his 4th "Series" involving characters from Smash Bros. Gotta respect the dedication to the craft!

Finally caught up to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and god it is so good, I love how distinct all the characters are in design and in personality, the plot is very goofy but also super poignant at times, I like that it's a pretty different take on the series... and the animation OH MY GOD THE ANIMATION ON THESE FIGHT SCENES IS SUCCULENT AND SO WELL CHOREOGRAPHED

And holy shit the movie was so good too, I love the Future Trunks Casey Jones I love the minecraft Krang I love Leo's entire character arc I love Raph being tough on his brother because he cares about his safety I love how gorgeous it all looks
