Yandere!king OC x fem!reader

Summary: You're bored and Edmund decides to create his own little excluded world where you and him can spend some valuable quality time, just you and him.

Warnings: obsession, isolation, Edmund thinking that he is better than everyone else (power dynamics?)

Word count: 2.1k

Oh how bored you are. You've been sitting in the large window for what feels like an eternity by now. Maybe you could ask the maids to entertain you? No, that won't work. Edmund has said that none other than him are allowed to be with you unless he's said otherwise. Maybe … maybe you could ask Edmund to do something? Maybe he could let you … go out for a little?

You jump down from the window and leave the chamber. Wherever you walk in the halls, maids and butlers stop to bow at you and wish you a good day. At first, you found it soothing that someone acknowledged your presence, but now you find them creepy.

You reach Edmund’s office and are met by a guard standing outside.

"Can I speak to him?" you ask.

"He's busy, your majesty", the guard replies.

"Please?"

"You shouldn't disturb the king. He was very persistent on that no one should talk to him before he's done with his work."

"Oh … okay …"

"Can it wait?"

You force a smile. "Yes, it can."

"Very well."

In defeat, you turn around to leave. The guard walks into the office to check up on the king.

"Who were you talking to?" Edmund asks without looking up from his desk. "Fuck all of these papers make me insane!"

"It was the queen, your majesty", the guard answers.

Edmund snaps his head up, his heart skipping a beat. You've finally come to him?

"What did she want?" he asks quickly.

"She just wanted to speak with you", the guard answers. "Nothing more. She said that it could wait so I sent her away. I know how you said that you didn't want to be disturbed-"

"You fucking idiot! That rule implies for everyone but her. Go get her."

"... yes, your highness."

The guard runs out of the room, sensing that he's upset the king. Edmund sighs frustratedly, shaking his head.

He returns with you by his side just a minute later. Carefully, he walks out and shuts the door behind him. Edmund smiles fondly as he sees you. You're so pretty.

"I heard you wanted to talk to me", he says softly.

"It was nothing important", you say.

"Yes, it was. Come here."

He pats his lap. You walk over to him slowly and sit down on his thigh. Edmund smiles and wraps his arm around your waist securely.

"What did you want to say to me?" he smiles up at you.

"I was just bored", you say and shrug. "I was wondering if you wanted to do something but you're busy. I don’t want to disturb you."

Edmund sighs and looks over the papers drowning his desk. Why does he have to be a king?

"I am", he mumbles regretfully. "I'd love to spend time with you, my jewel, but if I don't complete this before tonight the Supreme Court will grill my ass."

"It's okay … I'll entertain myself. I'm good at it."

Edmund bites his lip, thinking.

"If I hurry up, will you wait for me?" he asks and squeezes your waist carefully. "We can do something together later. Why don’t you come up with something fun to do in the meantime?"

“I want to go out”, you say. “For a little while.”

Edmund grabs your cheeks in his hand and smiles cheekily.

“You are not allowed outside, dearest”, he says with his eyebrows raised in that condescending tone you hate — sounds like he’s talking to a child. “You’re far too precious to be spoiled by the outside world.”

You sigh and fight back the urge to slap him.

“Go wait in the bedroom and I’ll come get you when I’m done”, he says, giving you a sweet push towards the doors. “If any of the guards give you any problem, you come back and tell me.”

You nod. Edmund smile drops once you leave. He can’t believe how his own guard turned you away. You must have felt so shocked and humiliated. Edmund’s heart breaks at the thought. He clenches his jaw. If you want to go outside, then you shall.

You must have fallen asleep because when you open your eyes, Edmund’s kneels down in front of the bed, caressing your hair.

“Y/N, my queen, why don’t you come with me?” he smiles.

“Are you done now?” you ask and yawn.

“Yes, I am. And I have something for you. Won’t you come with me?”

You get up from bed and follow him out of the room. He leads you through magnificent corridors, out to the backyard. You stop at the sight. A set table with flowers, pastries and tea. It’s taken directly out of a fairytale.

“Do you like it?” he asks.

He looks genuinely excited. Edmund loves to do these kinds of stuff. He’s never had anyone to surprise or impress before, but now that he has … it has become something he enjoys.

“I love it”, you answer, still in shock. “Why did you suddenly change your mind?”

“I mean … this isn’t the outside world”, Edmund shrugs. “So I thought that is wouldn’t be too bad. This is our own little world. You can still see the sun, but you’re not tainted by the townsfolk. I guess I can let you be here. But only when I am too.”

You look around, seeing the high brick wall that keeps you locked in. You can tell guards are watching every corner. Edmund takes you to the table and holds out a chair for you. You sit down and start to search the table for what you should start with.

“I’ve told the maids to stay away”, he says and lifts the teapot. “I want to do everything myself.”

You want to crack a joke about how he’s never touched his own utensils before, but you keep it in. It’s probably not a good timing. He seems to be in a good mood for once, you shouldn’t destroy it. He pours you some tea and holds out the cookie tray for you.

“Eat as much as you like, my jewel”, Edmund says. “We have enough to feed the entire village here. Not that they will get any. Why would anyone unimportant deserve this kind of food? Pathetic. These kinds of meals are reserved for the important people.”

Pleasant as always.

“Thank you for bringing me out here …”, you say hesitantly after a while of awkward silence. “I’ve missed being outside.”

“You’re welcome”, Edmund smiles with a smile. “If you’re happy, then I am too.” He breathes out and looks around. “Such a shame I’m always busy or we could spend all of our time together … just like this.”

You don’t answer. You’re not sure what you think about the idea. It’s not like you wanted to go to him for company. You had no other choice. He kills everyone you want to talk to.

“Do you feel lonely without me?” he asks while keeping his eyes on the spoon he slowly moves around in his teacup.

“I feel lonely, but I’m not sure it has so much to do with you … just overall”, you answer hesitantly. “It’s a big castle with lots of people I don’t know … everything is frightening and big …”

“It’s not dangerous for you. Only at night. But you’re safe if you stay in the parts assigned to you. You know better than to wander around.”

Oh, you know.

Suddenly, you hear a melody coming from afar. You look up, trying to find where the music is originating from. Edmund does the same and then breaks out into a small smile.

"Right, there were some things in the village today", he says, shaking his head slightly. "I should have told them to cut it out."

"What are they doing?" you ask.

"Partying. Something they don't have time for now that it’s harvest time."

He's about to stand up and tell a guard to get rid of the sound, but your hand shoots out, placing over his before you can think. He looks down at you, shock written all over his face.

"Please let them be", you beg. "They should get a break from their jobs and have some fun. They're humans. Besides … I kind of like the melody."

Edmund sighs heavily and nods. Remorsefully, he sits back down and looks at you with love growing in his eyes.

"You're wonderful, do you know that?" he asks. "I made a good choice in marrying you."

Your heart sinks whenever he talks like that. As if everything is a business deal to secure the heritage of the throne. Edmund has a tendency to be selfish and inhuman, how does he really care for you? Does he see you as another package deal to secure the future? Is he treating you differently because he should? Since you’re the queen?

"Can I ask you a question?" you ask hesitantly.

"Go ahead", he answers calmly.

"Did you marry me because you needed a queen or … because you actually wanted to?"

You can see him physically twitching. He furrows his dark brows and looks at you questionably.

"What are you saying?" he asks in confusion. “Are you serious?”

You nod. Your throat has gone dry. That voice. Oh, how you hate to confront him. He can never take anything in any way other than an attack.

“Do you think I wanted to be married at this age?” Edmund asks with a raised eyebrow. “That wasn’t my priority, Y/N. With that said, you’re definitely not just something I ticked off the bucket list. Don’t … don’t I show you enough love?”

You shrug fearfully. After every horrific thing he’s done to the people around you — including you — there’s nothing that actually shows if he loves you or only sees you as a pet. Edmund gulps and pulls his chair back quick enough for you to shudder. He stands up and walks over to your chair … holding out his hand. You stare at it blankly.

“Would … would you like to dance?” he asks

"Huh?" you ask, wondering if you could have heard wrongly.

"Dance with me."

You get pulled up on your feet by a strong force and almost crash into him. He squeezes your waist and positions the two of you for a dance. The music from the village is enough for him to find a rhythm and bring you into a trance. You can feel the guards glancing at you.

“Don’t look at them”, Edmund whispers warningly. “Look at me instead.”

You turn your eyes to him and he smiles. His smile makes him look like his actual age and it makes you relax slightly. After all, he’s just a young man without guidance. You shake your head. No. Don't think like that, don't give him excuses.

"There you go", he says approvingly. "Keep your eyes on me. There's only you and me in this world — in our own world — no one else."

He twirls you around before gaining another tight grip on you. You're sure that you'll get bruises on your hips by the end of the dance. You let him take the lead, not knowing where you’ll end up, but you know better than to question any of Edmund’s decisions.

“The guards, they’re looking at you”, he says without taking his icy blue eyes off of yours. “Gawking even. Wishing that they had what’s mine. Pretty pathetic, don’t you think? To be jealous of me? As if they could ever be on my level.”

“I’m not on your level either, Edmund”, you remind him quietly, hoping to make him realize how stupid he sounds. “Would you talk about me like that too?”

He looks dumbfounded.

“You must have hit your head or something with all the absurd questions you’re asking today”, he mutters and rolls his eyes. “No one is on my level — of course — but you’re far, far better than any of the other people in this kingdom. Don’t try to insult yourself by saying that you’re like them ever again, Y/N. I don’t like that.”

He dances round and round, holding you as close as he possibly can against his chest. You’re practically molded against his body.

“I’m so fucking obsessed with you, Y/N”, Edmund whispers in your ear. “You make me crazy. I can never let you go. You’re so perfect.”

His arms tighten around you and you start to wonder if he’s going to break your corset. In this world of your own, he will make sure that it is only you and him. Only you and him … in your own little shielded, exluded world.

This was requested by this lovely anon!! This is my first request so thank you for writing in! It would’ve come out sooner, but i currently have a mean tooth infection, nevertheless, the show must go on! Heads up, third one is a hint of spice. Hope u enjoy☺️

🧳🎻 I think he has a very realistic view on his brothers. I think he use to blindly look up to them just bc they were his older brothers, but as time has passed he definitely sees and recognizes that they both have some decent flaws. However, he really wants Gregory to look up to him the most. I don’t think he would ever admit it to anyone, but i feel like he could think a little higher of himself (not in a bad way at all) therefor he thinks he’s led the best example for how a man should be to Gregory.

🧳🎻 He gives off shy kid vibes. Like between the ages of 4-10 he was pretty shy only having like two friends. I feel like Ben specifically found this a little concerning bc he didn’t want him to have issues in school and life in general, so together they worked really hard on getting him to not only have more confidence in himself but actually practiced having convos. I also feel like once he got to the “interested in dating people” age Daphne and Ben tried their best to tech him to talk aka flirt with people.

🧳 (Lil spicy) Had a hoe phase in college. People are always shocked about how high his body count is (20+) but he was never a douche bag to anyone he’s hooked up with. I feel like when Anthony and Benedict found out on one of the weekly boys nights they have, Ben was proud and Anthony was a little shook. Anthony made him swear up and down he always wore a condom and then congratulated him lol.

🧳 Staying on the college root, he definitely gives off world history major vibes. He def was a foreign exchange student in high school (secondary school for the brit’s out there lol) and studied a couple semesters abroad in college. Specifically went to France in high school, then America, Italy, Spain, and India in college. He also makes it a point to travel every summer. I feel like he would definitely end up as a teacher of some sort tho. Like he’s definitely the cool history teacher everyone loves. Also hes definitely that teacher that gets side tracked easily if u ask him about his time abroad.

🧳 Definitely has more girl friends than guy friends, but not super imbalanced. He just gives was invited to the girls night out vibes. (I have a headcanon that i already wrote that i would definitely add Colin too). He definitely has his Boyz™️ that he hangs with all the time, but he knows they can be a little much, so i feel like when he wants to be social but have a relaxed time he hangs with the girlies. Idk colin just gives friends with everyone vibes.

🧳 I think Colin has diagnosed anxiety, and once he learned that he became more educated and aware of mental health. I feel like he started getting panic attacks shortly after Edmund died (he was 12 yrs old if i did my math right lol) but didn’t want anyone to worry about him so he just kinda dealt with it and kinda got to a point where he thought it was normal. It came up randomly in a convo with Daphne, Ben, and Violet that he gets them but at this point he didn’t get what the big deal was. I feel like these 3 took it seriously and once he got diagnosed he put work into researching how to understand mental health issues more.

🧳🎻 He LOVES to plan dates. His go to is always dinner at a nice restaurant then a show of some kind. Play, musical, movie out, doesn’t really matter to him. He enjoys a night in, sure, but what he really loves is showing you off. He’s proud to have you as his (not in a possessive creepy way, in a sweet way) and wants to show you off.

🧳 Colin is a little bit of a jealous type. We see it in the show when Pen is being courted by Debling. However, i feel like when he’s in a relationship, he completely trust his partner. If he sees someone flirting with you he will let them flirt but he will definitely swoop in with a little hey babe and a forehead kiss lol. If someone try’s to flirt with him tho, he will just start gushing about his amazing partner. I’m talking putting out the Lock Screen and going “ya look how cute WE are”. Once y’all are married tho he NEVER takes off the wedding ring.

🧳 I feel like he has a decent following on Insta and TikTok 😂😂😂. Not like influencer numbers but like 6k on instagram and 9k on TikTok. He definitely post all his travel stuff on Insta and does like little OOTDs on TikTok. Colin gives very much “gives a fuck about how he looks” vibes so i feel like he knows the fashion trends on TikTok. His “aesthetic” is like hipster mixed with old money (bc he is in fact, old money lol). Also yes, he recognizes he gets thirst comments and will play into just a little, but once hes taken he would comment “ my partner thinks so too :)”

🧳 Colin has secret tattoos. Like his friends know but he didn’t tell his family for a minute bc he knows it would become a thing lol. They r all small and in places he can cover up (shoulder, thigh, and one on his wrist he covers up with his watch) but one day he got a little careless at the beach and let them show. I feel like Violet had a “what did u do to your beautiful body??!!” mom moment, Anthony was pissed bc he didn’t tell him, Ben laughed his ass off, and Eloise congratulated him on doing something “actually risky” for once. I feel like after the initial shock everyone really likes them and he goes out and gets more in public places.

He still sleeps with his childhood stuffed animal lmfao like it’s a cute little elephant his mom and dad got him. He has had to do many repairs on it over the years lol

I still maintain the fact that any au I write regarding the Edmund x Violet x Portia ship the first to fall is Violet. Violet has always come off to me as someone who falls in love fast. Sometimes, she doesn't even know it. That doesn't mean her love isn't true or fickel, she had a more loving upbringing than most, so she doesn't really have that many hang-ups about it.

So Violet falls first, and it shocks her to her core when she has the realization. Not that she fell for another woman, no she's had thoughts about men and women all the time, before Anthony came along her and Edmund used to admire pretty girls together. No what shocks her is that it's her friend, and they're both married. Violet is still happily in love with her husband and Portia . . .well she's not in love per say. But she finds joy in finding new ways to scare her husband. Violet also puzzles because while she is having new feelings for Portia, the ones for Edmund haven't dimmed in the slightest.

Violet consults with Lady Danbury, while not fully telling her, she kind of hints at it.

Lady Danbury rolled her eyes. "That is not unusual girl. Look at all the remarried widows and widowers who still love their first spouse yet also loves the second. Just because it's happening at the same time for you does not mean it's impossible."

Violet blushed, she didn't say it was her having the feelings. Oh well, guess she can't get anything past Lady Danbury.

Violet concluded the next step was to talk to Edmund. But before she could she caught herself and her husband staring a second too long at Portia's chest in her tight black dress. Edmund was shocked at himself when he realized, Violet was relieved her husband also was looking. They can stare respectfully together.

They never did anything while Lord Featherington was still alive because they would never dare to put Portia in a scandalous situation like that. For one she is there friend, and two despite how eccentric the Spanish woman is they're not quiet sure she go for something like that.

Then came the death of Lord Featherington, and Portia said fuck this place I'm going home. Portia packed up herself and her daughters and made sure the Featherington estate could self run with minor need for her oversight before returning to Spain. But she did leave her two friends a set of arras, 13 coins each, made out of silver.

"Keep this as a promise," she told them.

After that the feelings cooled and they honest to god thought they were back to feelings of friendship. It's not like they're completely cut off from their friend she still sends letters.

They were wrong.

Featherington House sat empty for years but then one day servants were spotted opening it up. Whispers began to travel about the creepy family who used to live there who haunted the ton.

Edmund and Violet were having tea and watching some of the servants move about across the street. All of them carried black curtains and dark wooded furniture.

"It's strange, the ton whispers as if a ghost has moved in," Violet commented. Edmund hummed in agreement as he sipped his tea.

"Well wouldn't that be fun if a ghost did move in!"

Edmund choked on his tea, Violet's heart sped up.

Portia smiled at them from the doorway. "Sadly we are not so lucky."

A woman popped up behind from Portia. She was dressed in a dark purple jewel toned dress. "Just us with 12 children."

Edmund and Violet glanced at one another. Uh who was this?

When you lifted your head out of the water, your brother’s voice immediately reminded you to be careful. “I know!” You rolled your eyes, flicking some water his way.

“I don’t want you to get hurt,” Dale said.

“You don’t want me to even be up here,” you responded. “If you had it your way, I’d be stuck below the water with mom.”

“It’s safer that way.” Dale crossed his arms. “I don’t even want to be up here. But apparently, I have to scout it out.”

“I will gladly take your place.” You scanned the tree line and marvelled at the earth. It was so lush and green and flowing.

“You would get distracted by a butterfly.” Dale scoffed and surveyed the land, but for a very different reason. It was protocol to have a scout at the borders of the siren’s land. Just in case. You often tagged along with Dale, much to his chagrin and concern.

“Dale!” You ducked your head under the water. “There’s… uh, there’s a human.” Sure enough, on the shore, a dark-haired teenage boy was skipping rocks.

“Y/n, go back home.” Dale commanded, reaching for the weapon at his hip.

“But he seems nice,” you whispered. “Don’t hurt him.”

“Leave.” Dale said sharply. Before swimming away, you peeked out above the water to find the boy already staring at you. You inhaled and dove back under, allowing your brother to handle it. As you swam home, you wondered if you would ever see this mysterious, captivating boy again.

hello!! I love yalls twst stuff and I'm rlly excited to see/learn more about these ocs!! would you be able to give maybe a rundown on which characters are in which house and why? or maybe a general explanation on how the houses work in this college :0

Thank you very much for liking our twst stuff and for your interest in these boys! <3 And thank you very much for reading the info post about them! Fighting with tumblr to make it work was exhausting, and it’s still not going to work in the app after all orz I’ll add some of these facts to the info page later, but for this reply I can write much more than what I’m going to say there.

Now to your question. Each of the characters are were made to “represent” their corresponding house, to somewhat be the embodiment of the animal, so they go like this:

Niall is in the Unicorn house;

Ned is in the Dragon house;

Edmund is in the Raven house,

Liam is in the Snake house.

The houses group boys based on their personal qualities, but, ofc, there are no strict rules as which factors will definitely put you in one of the houses.

The Unicorn house is known for its dazzling, charismatic students with a strong tendency for leadership. They are determined, strong-willed, and often arrogant to an extent. They’re good at dealing with social issues, people in general, and can manipulate both people and the information they have as well. Still, despite being natural leaders, they have to have a sense of community and know how to form alliances.

They have good manners, good style, and overall have a high-society aura around them. Members of the royal families usually end up in this house. Because of that, it is considered the most prestigious (and rich lol) of the houses.

The Dragon house is the next in line in terms of being prestigious. Students there are loud, impulsive, have a very big “presence” whenever they’re around, while still being surprisingly responsible and well-behaved. They’re good and strategy and tactics, and have the best results in sports out of the bunch because of their good organizing abilities and discipline. They have their own order inside the house and dormitory, so they tend to work on the “survival of the fittest” principle. Just like Unicorn students, they are very proud, so they’re not ready to listen to just everyone, so they sometimes have conflicts inside their house in spite of their strong sense of unity. You have to deserve their respect to be... well, respected. On the negative side, they are quite greedy, loud, as I’ve said, and slow.

The Raven house is both the opposite of the Unicorn house, yet at the same time they’re the ones they cooperate with the most. Students of the Raven house are quiet and just don’t seem all that remarkable. They’re the first to react to different events, but the most “useless” in terms of solving things. The least ambitious of the bunch, they are rather perceptive, know a lot of rumors and information, good at making suggestions and predicting future outcomes, but at the same time secretive and not very talkative with other houses. Nobody really knows what they think, so they’re the creepy ones and the “freaks”, although not in such a harsh manner as one might think. They’re here to just do their job silently, or to complain a lot and still do their job lol If the Unicorn house can be considered the facade of the society, these students are the underground part of it. Metaphorically, that is.

The Snake students are also quiet, but their presence is much more prominent than that of the Raven students. They’re perfect on the surface level, but are ready to take any means necessary to achieve their goals without being caught. They seem perfect from the outside, but students from this house have the strongest sense of individuality. They’re cautious and ready to give way to others just to be safe and sure, they’re not the ones to rush anywhere without thinking. They’re careful, and a little bit slow in order to process events around them accordingly and to take the best possible route.

Two episodes in and I’m really enjoying this version of Mansfield Park so far. It is slow, which might normally bug me, but after the hectic pace of the two film adaptations, I’m really liking this one for all the little scenes from the book that were omitted from the movies, especially including the field trip to Sotherton and the scene of solidarity between Fanny and Mr Rushworth.

Speaking of which, Fanny is the right mix of shy and quiet and kind and lively, which is such a breath of fresh air. Edmund is actually pretty likable (though not as handsome as he is per the book). He’s kind to Fanny, yet unlike his successors, he’s neither secretly in love with her nor creepy. He’s just a good dude who’s being slowly blinded by Miss Crawford’s beauty.

Though I must say, I feel like this adaptation lowkey wants me to ship Fanny and Tom. They’ve only had a handful of moments, but they’ve been sweet and you can tell they’re friends.

Camilla might be a dark witch - not evil, just dark...

We don't know much about Camilla yet. She's the strongest known magic user alive (maybe even strongest ever), she basically rules Castle Village, she's part of the Ministry of Magic's ruling Council and she has a very irresponsible personality. Anything else we'll discover in the 2.0 update. But there are already some interesting hints about her in the game and in the sneak peeks FlashShifter shared with the community.

(This post will have spoilers both from the late game content and from the extra info FlashShifter posted on reddit, twitter and his patreon. I'm not subscribed to the patreon, so I don't have access to any extra information that's not already public, but if anyone wants to avoid spoilers then it's better to ignore this post)

I always felt like there's something off about Camilla. The way she teleports around the player feels almost… predatory. Sure, she's playful, but in the same way a cat likes to play with her food. Every time we meet her she doesn't take anything seriously, she says nothing about what she thinks or feels, she comes out as almost cold, impersonal, like her playful personality is just a mask.

But the thing that I found the weirdest about Camilla is the way Morgan describes her: "There's a witch that visits us. She doesn't really talk to me. Her name is Camilla. She gives me the creeps." Again, she comes off as cold and dismissive here, like she doesn't care about Morgan's existence, potentially since they're not useful to her. But the last part is the interesting one. Morgan finds her creepy, not odd, not intimidating, creepy. For a good witch it's a very odd description. A kid could easily be intimidated by Camilla's personality and Morgan already finds lots of things in their new home weird, so this line might just be here to emphasize their childlike innocence. But in media kids are often used to tell important information about other characters with the idea that they're still too simpleminded to be tricked by illusions or someone pretending. So this line might actually be significant.

And Morgan is not be the only one who thinks that. Throughout the few dialogues that mentions her it seems the common sentiment is that the other adventurers find Camilla to be pretty intimidating too, even if they agree that she's impressively powerful. Magnus, her friend, describes her in a very odd fashion: "Galdora has many marvels and horrors within its borders. Camilla is just one of them". Both Lance and Edmund imply that no one even questions her, they all just accept her decisions even if they might disagree with her.

And sure, she has huge responsibilities on her shoulders, so her being slightly impersonal makes sense, and her unusually powerful magic could be intimidating to other mages even if she isn't trying to be. And what's the harm in having some fun in the few moments she has some spare time, even if others find it unsettling? Her cheerful personality could just mask how much stress she has to deal with daily. Camilla seems to be the good creepy witch archetype.

But there are hints that there might be more to it. FlashShifter shared a sneak peek with her tower on his reddit and twitter accounts, and it's a really interesting building. There are skulls on the bricks and one tower looks more like a jail, with bars on the windows and door. And while the taller tower is fully lit with furniture and decorations visible through the windows, the 'prison' one is barebones and shrouded in darkness, with deep gashes in the stone walls. What is that exactly? A prison? A place to store monsters? None of the options have good connotations. From the few info you get from FlashShifter's patreon without subscribing, Camilla also has a goblin servant, a thing witches, specifically evil ones, have. She gives off a very weird vibe at this point.

But I discovered the last bit of evidence for my theory only recently. A while ago Flash posted this on reddit. Basically a fun post where he decided to show Camilla as a pokemon trainer. Aside from her creepy sprite her pokemon team is made almost exclusively out of dark and ghosts pokemon with the single exception of Cloyster, which Flash admitted that he picked due to it's unusually strong battling ability and it's creepy sprite. So Camilla would basically be a Dark trainer, and the closest thing to dark pokemon in SVE would be dark magic.

Her odd personality and her creepy tendencies would make a lot more sense if Camilla would actually use dark magic, instead of just researching it. And it would also explain why her colleagues are vaguely scared of her.

Looking back, Camilla's personality is mainly defined in opposition with Magnus's one, a fellow Council member who is very serious about his responsibilities and studies, unlike the fun-loving Camilla who doesn't take anything seriously. The cutscene she had with him shows how different their personalities are, and even the cutscene where she meets the farmer on Sheerwater Bridge contrasts with the way Magnus behaves when the farmer discovers the Void Shard. She doesn't care what the Ministry thinks and will leave in the middle of a meeting while Magnus does everything in his power to act according to what he thinks the Ministry might want him to do. The way he adopts Morgan just because the Ministry ordered him to is further proof of that.

But Camilla might also be defined in opposition to Mr Qi. She tries to protect the town Qi seems intent to destroy and she tries to clear the corruption Qi spreads (maybe?). It's also implied that they are evenly matched power wise. And as another similarity, Qi's personality is also defined through his opposition to Camilla and Magnus, the latter who specializes in plants and forest magic while Qi prefers to use dark/void magic.

Speaking of the Void, one of Qi's defining moments in SVE is when he kidnaps the farmer and places the Seal of Silence on them. Qi teleports the farmer in a pitch black area that is called 'void' in the files. But when the farmer dies in the Badlands and Camilla rescues them she also teleports the farmer to a borderless dark area eerily similar to the void. Between this and her potential dark magic, she's weirdly similar to Qi.

As a final point, if Qi is contrasted by Magnus through a life-death opposition, then it's possible that Camilla contrasts him through a dark-dark similarity. They might both use dark magic, they might both stand out due to their power and magical abilities, and they both have a guarded and mysterious personality. But while Camilla uses her magic to protect thousands of people Qi seems willing to sacrifice them all to further his goals (or for funsies I guess). While Qi works alone in the shadows, Camilla cooperates with the magical community. Even the way they interact with the farmer in their 'void' events shows that - Camilla teleports him there in order to save him while Qi teleports him there to threaten him.

Inspired by a funny post I saw on Tumblr about Shirley Jackson's The Lottery, in which I discovered for some reason schools assigned this unsettling, horrifying short story to kids in 7th/8th grade, I got this silly idea that led us to this:

Reading Assignment

Summary: Joining Edmund in reading the school-assigned short story was supposed to be an excellent way for Kate to have some quality time with her eldest son. It was supposed fun! And then the short story takes a weird turn.

It's just a silly, funny little tale of how a 13yo and a pregnant woman ended up traumatised by a school-assigned reading and then Anthony has to hear about it.

Edmund McMillen stated that earlier versions of The End is Nigh had the collectibles=lives system throughout the entire game and not just the last few chapters, and sometimes I think about how sick that version of the game would be.

The 2 best parts of TEiN are the secrets and the lives system, I love the way it has multiple tiers of failure, how you can both fail a screen and fail a whole chapter. The secrets are such a vibe too, I love how you can tell someone else designed them, they're mysterious and creepy enough to be a mandatory part of the gameplay loop from minute one. I wonder if it could be modded to behave that way.

Narnia is truly amazing.

No other series has made me cry so much. No other series has brought me to my knees, made my eyes fly so wide open with joy or surprise. Never has something made me feel such real and raw emotions. No other series has pulled me from earth and dragged me into such a beautiful world. When you say fantasy, I think Narnia. When you talk about running away to a fictional world- I think Narnia. When you say underrated masterpiece? I say Narnia. I truly believe I was never the same after Narnia. Never have I believed in magic as much as when I read or watch Narnia. Never ever ever do I feel so in love with a feeling than when reading or watching Narnia. When I first read Susan and Peter couldn’t go back to Narnia again? I cried. I balled my eyes out, I was brought to my knees and felt such deep despair. When I finished that last line in the last book? A part of me died inside. I never felt so much joy yet so much hurt in my life as how I felt that last chapter.

How? How did he do it? If I could I would ask C.S. Lewis in a heartbeat. Narnia truly embodies my very soul, my every dream and hope and my life. My soul is forever opening that wardrobe, taking those steps inside, and laughing as snowflakes fall on my hair.

Every time I open my closet door I hope to see those beaches, those forests, that lamp post. My heart longing to dance with the nymphs and dryads and fauns, swaying in the wind with the trees and sailing to Doorn.

I want desperately to gaze upon Allan in all his glory and bask in his presence.

But most of all, I wanna try those Turkish delights cause I’ve had Turkish delights and holy shit Edmund are you ok??? Or were those just really fucking delicious??? Were they magic? Why did you ask for those specifically? Like don’t get me wrong I like Turkish delights but not so much to where I’d ask for them from a creepy ass witch?? Anyways.

Tldr: Narnia is wonderful in too many words to describe, Edmund was on something.

🔥🔥🔥 (any topic u feel like bc i already know whatever opinions u have i could ever possibly ask u about anyway)

Ok i’m taking this as an excuse to ramble about king lear and how critics up to the 20th century and productions up to this day just don’t get it at all and i think it’s bc we end w albany and edgar and this line which seems to summon faded glory and for some reason the operatic tragedy of lear’s death adjoined to his grief for cordelia seem to retroactively redeem him (and the ancien regime or whatever) through this moralistic lens that really doesn’t mesh w the play. and Doesn’t happen with like macbeth for example. his arc is disintegrative and he’s struck down as a prideful tyrant. or othello’s suicide even as it’s the result of iago’s plot is also very clearly a result of his own folly. but with king lear you get all these essays which assume all the characters loyal to lear are essentially morally good. or in the case of lear and gloucester they become like benign and misled. like gloucester's torture is so gruesome and afterwards hes so pathetic that by the time he dies you've forgotten what a disgusting buffoon of a man he is. also this is bc goneril regan and edmund’s evil is so polarizing. this reading is not only crushingly boring it makes no sense. i feel like a lot of productions/adaptations ive seen (found on the internet for free) like for example the florence pugh movie start with a lear who's really obviously awful. doddering creepy self important a flanderized corpse. which is easy bc thats in the play! but then at the end its like ah this old man just loves hsi daughter ): and it seems as if we're supposed to believe him unchallenged when he says for example that cordelia's voice was always soft and low. when lear is demonstrably the worst judge of his daughters' character alive. bc shes not like that. shes fiercely stubborn and entitled and short sighted. she is too much like her father. and when she assumes this apologetic loyal posture when she returns in act 4 to rescue him. she is actually invading with a foreign army. and her line about how it's not overblown ambition but only "love dear love and aged father's right" that is causing her to Lead an army . into her home country. is just taken at face value. when i dont know i think it would be fun if we DIDNT do that. anyways i lost my train of thought i wrote a lot of this at 3 am but TLDR succession is the best lear adaptation
