OK, Vulpes, how about a memorise a very particular detail. That you speak out of your arse when you claim "Each clutched his ticket, hoping it would set him free. Each did nothing, even when "loved ones" were dragged away to be killed." what's this then, Inculta?

Looks to me like you didn't clean up the fight fully. I imagine that if we were to have arrived later what's left of your man woulda been sweeped up and the Wastelander would have a mine under him.

The man has a lotto ticket next to him as well. Which does raise some questions. Was he handed the ticket and then pulled out the Rifle? Did they leave it next to him to mock him? Was this actually some kind of trial by combat "prize"? If the last one, why is he dead inspite of killing a Legion Recruit?
We will never know, the dead can't talk and Vulpes has his story. I don't think this is how Vulpes wanted us to see this man or the Legion Ash Pile.

I do have some other observations. Do you notice that the 1st and 2nd place winners, Oliver Swanick and Boxcares, are both Powder Gangers. In fact, literally every non-Legion survivor of this event weren't Nipton Locals? They're literally all Powder Gangers. The two enslaved guys in 'Booted'. The crucified men?

Powder Gangers. All the survivors of Nipton were Powder Gangers. You may think "So what? The people of Nipton got unlucky." but you know what I think? I think this is too convienient.
Vulpes says "Nipton was a wicked place, debased and corrupt. It served all comers, so long as they paid. Profligate troops, Powder Gangers, men of the Legion such as myself - the people here didn't care. It was a town of whores. For a pittance, the town agreed to lead those it had sheltered into a trap. Only when I sprang it did they realize they were caught inside it, too." notice what he's doing there: he's claiming the entire town was in on him and Mayor Steyns plot. A claim like that, if true, could be used against Nipton in some people's minds.
One of the only other accounts of Nipton are Ghost's which are "Nipton wasn't the most friendly town, but..." and "Town was a shithole, asking to be burned. Just not by Legion. Nobody deserves that." which... no town is 'asking to be burned', Ghost. That second quote is part of her saying she had no friends in Nipton. I doubt she actually personally knew anyone in Nipton. Just the fact Steyn served Gangers and NCR and maybe she met someone unkind there once or somethin'.
And, yeah, Mayor Joseph B. Steyn was an arsehole. But y'wanna know somethin' about Steyn? He was New Californian, a Hubber, from The Hub. His prostitutes, Rosie and Sylvia, were probably from there or somewhere in New California too. And you know what he says happened in his terminal when he heard the plan? "I didn't have to think a moment about Mr. Fox's proposition before accepting it. All I have to do is convince the Powders to kidnap the NCR troops at night. When both groups are in town, the Legion boys will scoop everyone up. Ha!" he didn't consult the town about this plan beforehand. He also, rather constantly, displays a desire to leave Nipton and go back to California after exploiting Nipton as much as he could. That was Steyn's care for the town.
Only 1 Nipton Townsperson gets an account of anythin': Tony the Tinker. His single terminal entry shows him to be... a bit of a creep. But he explicitly is avoided by other people in town, especially women (also his Mister Gutseys got one of the Legion Recruits, which is funny).
But I've lost the point I was making. I don't think the fact all the Nipton townspeople are dead is a coincidence. Just like how I don't think that all the NCR just happened to be killed and left in Nipton Hotel is a coincidence.
I think the lotto was rigged.
Think about it, Boxcars even says that when Steyn's number came up they "burned him alive on a pile of tires." he never mentions anyone else getting that treatment.
Vulpes Inculta lied about the towns complicitness, at best there were fine with prostitution that played both sides of the Ganger-NCR conflict (the shopkeepers of the town gave Steyn 15% of their profits from trade with patrons of that service). Does Westside deserve to burn because of the Casa Madrid? Does Freeside because of the Atomic Wrangler? Fuck no.
But if a Nipton townsperson lived, they could share their story. We could see the truth. Nipton was a town, like any other. At worst their crime was electing Steyn (but we have no idea how their elections even worked).
1st prize, 2nd prize. That'd be a loose end, a story that could contradict the "Evil place that should be burned" narrative. The game was rigged from the start. Vulpes Inculta is a liar. Of course he is... he's a literal spymaster.
(also I highly doubt a woman was ever gonna be allowed to 'win' such a thing with Legion ideology)
So, let us remember the town of Nipton, as best as we can. Not as Vulpes saw it, or the NCR saw it, but as a place that had people in it we never got to know. Next time your in Nipton Town Hall, moving the bodies to avoid the landmines of this specifically set up scene by the Legion. Think about the Wastelanders, as they are called, and the part of the Wasteland they called home.

Absurdity of packing Cucumbers
The shrink wrap on these cucumbers keeps them fresher for longer.(Tas Country Hour: Fiona Breen)
I need to solve a problem, I want to increase shelf life of the food I buy, but I want something 1) Non-reactive, 2) Protective, 3) Insulating, 4) Cheap and 5) Convienient. I think plastic shrink wraping is perfectly fitting all the criterias however I think is taxing on the environment."You've got to weigh up the differences between plastic waste and food waste," (Why wrapping fruit and veg in plastic could actually be good for the environment, 2019). But the question is....cucumbers already come in a packging...why do we want to pack it again?
Today I will discuss about how I see this object presented as an attitude.
Attitude; a precise way of thinking or feeling about something. In my research I realized that this object can symbolize many things. So, I will start with the symbol of when humans stopped foraging food and started cultivating it, as cucumber do not naturally exist on their own in nature…bitter gourd is what we should think about.
Cucumber is a distant cousin only zestier. You can also say, bitter gourd is a wisecrack philosopher and English cucumber is a Kardashian phenomenon. One is good for you, the other is junk food with the gap of 9 million subscribers.
Circling back to the attitude part…why did I use this word?
Because I saw the object representing the yuppie side of human attitude. “I will not orient my life according to how things work I will orient the work of things according to my life because my dad didn’t say he loves me enough times.
My question is fairly simple. Why does MHRA thinks it is okay to wrap individual English cucumbers in plastic for the consumers? Isn’t there any other sustainable alternative?
I found out four reasons:
1) Protection from bugs and bacteria and create plastic wasteland castles around the world.
2) Retain moisture in cucumber as it slowly evaporates in the refrigerator as if the cucumber will never rehydrate if kept in lukewarm water for 10 minutes.
3) Insulation and isolation from extreme temperature change…. you know funny coincidence the naturally occurring waxy rind does the exact same thing and we don’t even have to burn our fossil fuels for it. Only if we do not wash it right after harvesting.
4) The fruit looks good…I mean its not like we are trying to court a cucumber …it’s definitely used for eating.100%.
I want to draw your attention to a few questions with this demonstration.
1) Why do we want our fruits to look like shiny spotless toys?
2) Why do we want to increase the shelf life of the food rather than radically changing the quality of life we are living?
3) Why doesn’t the MHRA discloses the embodied energy behind every single produce we buy?
4) What is the philosophy of problem and solution then?
In the end I will leave you with some problematic stats to look at.
1) Manufactured English cucumber are nutritionally the most inferior species of cucumber to have(Cucumber, 2020).
2) Each year nearly 973.5 tonnes of single use plastic is thrown out by British residents just by consuming English cucumber, that is equivalent to 1 full cargo ship’s volume and weight (List of countries by cucumber production, 2022).
3) Cucumbers are one of the easiest fruits to grow and harvest and salad bush cucumber species is the most nutritious to consume(TIMG, 2021).

sometimes i think its funny french is the language i considered the least when deciding to study but its actually the language i studied that i probably use the most, and am likely to use the most for practical reasons in my life
#rant#this is just a note to myself lol#like when i picked it? literally it was cause i'd TRIED to learn X languages in classes and on my own and FAILED utterly every time#so i picked french cause i hadnt tried ever before#and figured IF i could learn to do something in it i'd know for sure since i had no prior exposure or classes in it#so it was basically a test to see if i even Could learn anything of a foreign language#and it worked? and now like. french is#most often the language i could use w friends. could use in employment settings. and job apps.#like i didnt even pick it for job benefit reasons - although my justification at the time was 'im by canada and its useful in canada' and#'un requires 2 languages and its one of the languages un uses'. but that was IT that was the extent of my consideration#literally just tried to learn it to TRY it was only THEN that i bought a french book and got motivated TO actually learn#but its like? its always funny to me? cause i couldve picked spanish also as 'career useful' but i didnt cause id tried and failed to learn#it before. and i was literally picking something i'd never tried. it had to be brand new (otherwise id have picked spanish japanese german#or mandarin ToT#) but i picked french because i'd never tried. and lo and behold its actually one of the ones i use the most#also as a side thing? i love history books and in my city french history books are some of the only foreign language books u can find#(yes its niche. yes its also extremely convienient for me who is specifically always on the look out for THOSE specific books ToT)#like u cant find a manga in japanese unless u go to 1 single bookstore AND get lucky. u can find a little spanish (id say its the easiest?)#u can find 1 chinese book every 6 months in 1 single bookshop#but french history books? Babe... u can find them in 90% of the bookstores in town. almost any used section has them so ALL the antique book#stores and all the used book stores and Some thrift stores (if they have a decent size of books anyway)#also by often using french i mean like. i regularly encounter coworkers and friends and strangers where french actively helps me#when i tutored TEFL students at the high school? a lot of the kids who didnt speak english well Could speak french well#so french helped fill in any gaps between us in communication.

How did you feel about Queen Banana? (If I’m being honest Chloe made me angry in that episode)
I'll kind of go in a Stream-of-Consciousness style: The episode by itself I really liked so I'll start with what I liked. Chloe was hella annoying but it's not anything new - if anything it was like being Season 1 again, which is the version of Chloe I've always liked (in that like to hate way). Particularly in the akuma fight, I think the VAs went really hard and the animation on Queen Banana was funny and over the top, I loved it.
Adrien coming to tell Chloe she should be the one to apologize was *chef's kiss*. Glad to see that some of that "she'll never change" nonsense from the end of Despair Bear is wearing off and he's standing up for his friends. It's an important lesson for him to learn that yeah, sometimes standing up for what's right might cost you but it shouldn't stop you from doing the right thing. This is a good step forward. Additionally I love seeing a bit of Andre's spine too. Now just extend that to how Chloe treats people who aren't in your family...
The banana thing was shoehorned in the beginning, but honestly, I was here for the banana ride all the way to the banana end once it was there.
They really put all the effort into Zoé and Mylene's makeup, but still put them in painter smocks and called them "capes", huh? lol, but that make up was F I R E 🔥
It's nice to have actual proof that the Magic Charms are working against reakumatizations instead of them just saying it does. Lol, even Marinette seemed surprised.
Vesperia kicked ass. That is all.
Now what I'm concerned about/didn't like:
I don't like Chloe's hair down. It looks like Laurie from That 70's Show.
I'm seeing a concerning amount of parallels between Zoé and old Marinette (Marinette before she got the earrings). My feelings about it really depend on what they do with this: are they going to have Marinette see Zoé have the same self-destructive behaviors that she does and realize that actually she doesn't deserve to have the bad end of the stick and needs to treat herself nicer? Or is Marinette going to give Zoé confidence and "heal" her trauma with absolutely zero self awareness?
Also with Zoé, I see a strange amount of parallels with Lila. This also goes with Sole Crusher, but she did come in lying about who she is, but because she does it with self-defensive intentions it's okay? It's to the point where I can't tell if her ending speech in Queen Banana where she mirrors her movie lines about "loving you even if the world hates you" was genuine or just part of her manipulation to trick Chloe into taking the Magic Charm. If it's genuine, then this is going to be Zoé "redeeming" Chloe (which is it's own can of worms) and if it was part of her trick, that means she's lying. I would assume this is nuance, but in this series, I can't be sure if this intentional or an accidental mixed message.
And about that little speech at the end...I probably would be less up in the air about it if they didn't have Tikki come in to convieniently say "maybe now Chloe'll learn to be better". Um, haven't we done this song and dance before? Am I supposed to take this seriously now?! Is this another tease or are they actually going to pull through with it this time? I have nO IDEA!
Ultimately, I take Tikki's quip more as "if Chloe doesn't change after this she has no one to blame but herself."

I don't want to overstep anything, but let me make one thing clear. hating on mxtx based on what she has said in interviews that you read a translation isn't fair. plus, you're not aware of her sexuality, you cannot make assumptions based on the fact that she's a straight woman so she's a fujo. first of all, ya'll don't understand the word fujoshi, you throw it around all the time to hate on people without actually trying to understand what it means. mxtx is a chinese woman, just writing queer novels in a country like China, already risking her entire life. do you think it's a joke?
do you not understand the risk she's taking? did you convieniently forget that she's in china, a country that does not tolerate queer people, are you aware that they also frown upon men being feminine? they don't tolerate anything that even implies queerness.
If you're a western person I highly doubt you understand the implications of these words you casually throw around, acting all high and superior. I feel like some western people fail to understand that danmei as a genre isn't even meant for them in the first place. You're not even the fucking target audience in the first place. you're reading off eng fan translations, don't act like you know better.
you cannot fully understand the text to its core nor you can fully grasp the meaning behind her words in translations of the interviews. you're just spreading hate based on un-accurate translations at this point. Im not trying to say that mxtx hasn't written anything harmful ever, she has, but the point is, you cannot make a clear assumption based on translations of any kind.
as an asian i fucking doubt that chinese audience has any major issues with her work, it's after all, meant for them and they understand it better because they know the language. western people have SO many options to turn to when they want to read and see themselves being represented, but do you stop to think that maybe the text you hate so much is probably one of the few queer rep chinese people have access to?
As an asian person I've never seen any queer representation for me in any western media and whatever my own country produces, even when it's not 100% perfect, I will fight anyone who hates on it. It may not be the most perfect piece of queer representation of me, you know, because I live in a homophobic country where I'd be physically harmed if people knew I was queer, if I'm getting some not perfect, below average representation, I will take it. so, I think I understand why mxtx's work isn't so excessively hated on in china, and honestly, you DO NOT know her sexuality to make assumptions that she's a straight woman, you're not aware of what goes on there. Also it's terrifying how some of you think it's OKAY to want to st*b mxtx for simply writing queer novels. shut the fuck up, you're just fucking racist and have no idea of how things work outside of your own bubble. Its traumatizing to see people so openly wanting to kill as asian woman over fiction.

whenever i look at baby hawks and what the background panel implies regarding his childhood pre-HPSC as well as his expressions when he's a kid, i always think of avoidant attachment style and how it affects him as an adult, especially because of how much he likely wouldn't see a problem with it at all - if anything, when combined with his training, he probably almost considers it helpful
Oh man yeah. Ugh. ouCH. Honestly I think Hawks has no idea what he's missing out on. He doesn't get close for a million reasons and convienience is definitely a huge one. And its so sad to me when I see little pieces of him getting attached. He wants it, but he just - has that wall. This is especially evident when you realize the few relationships he does have were forged not to have a relationship, but because he needed something and getting attached was collateral damage, so to speak xD
Tokoyami for example. He took him on with the reasoning of interrogating him about the LoV, essentially. But later it's revealed that while that was true, he could have piced any 1A kid for that purpose. He chose Tokoyami because Hawks saw potential in him that was untapped. Then, later, how he turned back and grinned with pride when he saw Tokoyami trying so hard to keep up with him. Taking the kid up in the sky because he wanted to see him fly- because he loves him in his own way, even if he isn't actually very close or open with Tokoyami in the grand scheme of things.
AND OF COURSE That one real, soft smile Twice earned out of him, even despite Twice being a dangerous enemy. Hawks was still able to grow attached to him-
Its like he's always looking for it- but he doesn't realize it, or, at least, never allows himself to get too close.
(Except maybe in the case of Tokoyami? It's made clear they talked quite a bit to one another, with Tokoyami telling Hawks at the very least all about his friends. And Hawks is shown talking very proudly and fondly of Tokoyami several times, even stating that he regretted not being able to spend more time and be there to help train him duing his internship. I feel if Hawks does have one close connection, it's him, and it hurts to think this genuine relationship that means so much to Hawks has to be stinted so much.)
He has attachments and the desire to mean something to others, but that part of being human seems to be another thing he sacrificed to become the affective tool that he is. Despite his ability to love and his want to be needed, he had virtually no one intimately close to him in any way we've seen so far. And it really seems that while he craves those relationships he never second guesses not having them. He's never shown to feel lonely, even though he MUST be, considering all of this.
Fuck man i just have a lot of feelings about this sorry i RAMBLED A LOT

What now Cowboy?: Part 2
Taking Lee’s place: Part 1
This probably going to be the slightly more rated r version of part 1 just a heads up
PART 2:
“What now cowboy?” You couldn’t help but chuckle as you pulled Lee’s arm behind his back to hold him down. You furrowed your eyebrows in worry when you noticed how quiet lee had become. Had you crossed a line and upset him? You leaned forward to try and inspect him when you felt you center of gravity shift in a quick fluid motion. He had caught you off guard, cheeky bastard.
The next thing you know he’s got you pushed up against the wall for leverage. He’s not crowding you though, he’s waiting for your response. It’s strikes you as almost gentlemanly before you decide you to take advantage of said gentlemenness by pulling a convieniently placed dagger from your belt to point directly into Lee’s neck, leaving a tiny indentation around where the blade pressed in slightly.
It was a bluff. You both knew it but it was oddly exhilarating. You could hear the slight uptick in his breath as he felt the coolness of the dagger. You could see that even though Lee was looking at you he knew exactly all too well what was pressed against his throat. You watched the releazation pass through his eyes and then- something else flash through that you couldn’t quite catch. He swallowed hard, you could feel it from the way the knife shifted with Lee’s Adam’s apple, it was an incredibly powerful feeling.
There is a heavy silence as you maintain eye contact, trying to size one another up. The adrenaline from the fight is kicking in, you flinch slightly when his rough voice rings out in the silence “I would let you.” He says almost offhandedly. It shocks you at first and you freeze. Processing what he just said. “What?”you repeat, aggressively mistaking his honesty for sarcasm. You push the blade slightly harder, he exhales loudly. “You heard me.” He affirms, now regaining some of his signature cockiness.
“Is that all you’d let me do?” It’s out of your mouth before you even have a chance to think about it. You see Lee process the information comically slowly, he blinks slowly, taken aback, serves him right you think to yourself. You feel him step closer, dangerously close, the blade shifting to almost cut into him. “What do you want to do?” He asks the question and almost sounds flippant but his eyes give away how invested he is in your answer.
You struggle to wrap your head around how quickly this situation escalated. This wasn’t even suppose to be about your “admiration” towards lee but somehow you were looking him dead in the eyes and it was the most important discussion in the entire universe.
You slowly pull your dagger back, placing it back in its sheath and press your fingertips lightly on his chest and push, he quickly gets the message, backing up according to your directions. You stop pushing to signal him to stop but you leave the featherlight touch of your fingertips on his chest. “
I don’t know.” You answer trufully, but it’s a loaded double answer and you both know it. He sharply breathes in, and then he does the most amazing thing you’d ever seen, he looks at you, and smiles brightly, breaking out into a bark of a laugh that is both painful and endearing to listen to. “Look, I don’t want you to get the wrong idea about me. I’m thankful for your kindness and I’d never want to overstay my welcome or make you feel uncomfortable. I have a hard time reading you which is rare for me, thrown me quite for the loop actually” he rambled, as you panicked, he was going to leave, he was going to leave because he felt like he’d overstepped his bound or overestimated your fondness.
You therefore had no other rationally sound nor humane choice but to get the point across to him in even a way he couldn’t misinterpret. Mid sentence you crashed forward towards Lee, not the ideal first kiss but neither you nor Lee lived in any kind of “ideal” world at all. It was messy and chaotic and stressful but it was still good, and so was that first kiss.

Creative Writing Case Study: Blackwall
Look m8′s, I hate this man with a burning passion from a creative writing stance because his story was executed SO BADLY it just got fucking r u i n e d. (I am breaking it up with gifs because it looks nice)
Spoils, btw
Him masquareding as a dead man is COOL. Him trying to pretend to be a warden is COOL. Him hiding from his deep dark murder past is COOL.
What’s NOT COOL is it just happening so off screen.
The writers made a character choice that after an drunk experience, Blackwall feels so guilty for his actions he decides to turn himself in. Okay okay okay, I get where we’re coming from. We want to have Blackwall in a guilty, redemption positive light. The groundwork here is so that if a player wants to redeem Blackwall, they’re not just siding with a cold homocidal murderer. Giving him a guilty conscious allows the player to find a justification to let him live.
But it just felt so out of left field, and here’s why:
In creative writing, for the plot twist or the story beat to pay off, it HAS to be touched on beforehand. We call this planting the gun. It’s a little different than Chekov’s Gun, kind of it in reverse: If you want the main character to have a gun in act 3, you need to put a gun in the setting in act 1 so the reader know’s its there.
When writers fail to do this, I typically refer to it as “The Law of Convenience” The plot point/device on screen apparaits with no prior mention or forshadowing, as if it didn’t exist until this very moment, making it a very convienient plot point/device”
( I think this is acutally called a Deus Ex Machina, but I played Deus Ex so it always throws me off. )
Where there is good subtle moves in Blackwall’s Dialogue that forshadow he’s not a Grey Warden, there’s n o t h i n g forshadowing him being Rainer. No gun was planted in Act 1, and so now it feels weird and out of left field that suddenly, Blackwall is a murderer genreal dude. The dude he steps in to save in that scene isn’t even mentioned or dotted on or anything. The massacre is never mentioned until this point, either. N o t h i n g about Blackwall’s story exists until it needs to, and that isn’t good writing.
We don’t have anyone in Orlais discussing Rainer. THAT would have been good planting. That awful man that they gossiped about during the ball? He’s in YOUR party!
Could you imagine in Adament if you mentioned Blackwall and everyone said Blackwall was dead and THAT’s how you found out something was up which could have led to the Rainer Reveal?. Or if a soldier came trying to kill Blackwall, or if Sera’s PEOPLE in that area told her about Rainer becuase of the massacre? Like, there’s so many ways to get this information without it being a sad exposition.
Leliana’s a spymaster, for crying out loud.
My other problem with Blackwall’s narrative is that it tells, not shows. Blackwall goes to prison and he just tells us sitting in the cell what he did. There’s no action, no drama to the scene. Just exposition followed by a decision. They write up a reason why he’s there (so one of his soldiers doesn’t take the fall for his crime) and yyayaya.
if you find out outside of this, like through Leliana, you only have one side of the story, and fuck, might even arrest Blackwall yourself because you don’t know about the guilt yet. That’s drama! G o o d s h i t. OMG, the Inquisitor could think he KILLED Blackwall.
If it got revealed at Adament, that would have been d r a m a t i c. ESPEICALLY if Blackwall was in your party. The way to pull that off would be that up until then, Blackwall HAS to join the inqusition, and he can’t be kicked out until after.
These are subtle background things that Dragon Age did before in Dragon Age II, where Anders, Isabella, Varric, Merril, Carver, Bethany, and Aveline join your party no matter what. Anders is the one I point to here, because he’s also a Grey Warden. So like, Leliana could have said “Blackwall is staynig to help because we should have a Grey Warden just in case things go south” and that can pay off for the Archdemon, and actually would forshadow the archdemon.
If you want to do something like Blackwall’s narrative, here is my advice:
- Unreliability. If other people told us about Blackwall’s, we make wrong conclusions and make mistakes and it involves us more than him just sitting in a prison and telling us what happened. There’s drama in misinformation.
- Plant the gun. If we want him to get arrested in Act 3, we need to know about Rainer in act 1. Passing Dialogue in appropriate areas, maybe there’s a soldier who was under his command that you can interact with in Haven. There could be even more subtle, Blackwall hates when he’s in Orlais. He doesn’t want to go to the ball, etc. We need to know about the massacre, we need to know about the soldier getting falsely accused somehow. Not all of these things need to be planted, but some of them at least so when it does happen, the player can connect the pieces.
- The Reveal has to be on point. This whole story falls apart if the reveal isn’t good, which is exactly what happened in Blackwalls story. It’s fine to make him guilty, but there’s nothing there in a conversation at a prison with all this expostition.
- You HAVE to make Blackwall feel guilty if you want him to live. There’s a lot of good people in the world who couldn’t justify Blackwall if he didn’t legitimently feel bad for his actions. Doing the story any other way without Blackwall turning himself in makes this harder, but it’s going to be hard, you’re justifying a murderer. If I could change the narrative, I’d have made a wartable mission that someone is being hanged in VR for the crime Blackwall admitted to, and Blackwall begs you to turn him in so the man doesn’t get killed. Like, that’s a good show of a changed man.
Good Things About Blackwall
1. Him not being a Grey Warden was executed well. Blackwall is consistently vague and has a lie prepared for every question, which makes sense because it’s a false idenity
2. “Scale the Wall” is fucking hilarious
Eh, that’s all I really got. I am a little dissapointed that I don’t have much for him. He’s just not my favorite.
These are just my opinions, btw. I am God or the law of creative writing, this is just how I feel, but I do study this at University so I feel like I have a small handle on this type of stuff? Tell me what you think about Blackwall. and if you’re a Blackwall lover, like why? I don’t see his appeal and I guess it would be funky to learn.

Peaky Blinders s1 - my thoughts:
Overall, I liked it.
The climax was anticlimactic though. It had a set up to a good, big, dramatic ending, but it just... flagged... I’d prefer something snappy and emotional.
Campbell is a reprehensible hypocrite, but a good villain that didn’t live up to his full potential yet.
The sex scenes were pointless, other than to give a minute to discuss the plot.
Truth is, I don’t vibe with Thomas/Grace romance at all. I was pretty incredulous at that and in the end, it turned the rest of the plot into a letdown.
That’s because with the characterizations given and other hints as their interactions progressed, it was more believable to me that Thomas was suspecting her from the start than that he got bamboozled near the end. Her appearance at the bar at that time was convienient and all the subsequent interactions pointed to his cautiousness - before it took a sharp nosedive towards romance. As if the same guy that coldly tested a woman his brother wanted to marry wouldn’t test a woman for himself? as if he would let someone that close without assurance.
Btw, the deadbeat dad episode was good. It explained a lot about this family. Also, Thomas telling the dad to get out the moment he saw him was just beautiful. This guy is a good judge of character.
I get it, him trusting Grace and then finding out she was a spy and then pining for her forever and never trusting another woman could have worked - if it was just decently done. And it simply wasn’t. She didn’t do enough to actually earn his trust.
To be satisfying, it should have happened like this - he should have used her to give the police wrong information and come out on top this way.
The whole idea of that Chinese woman casting a spell on the race horse was cool, why wasn’t this continued? I even looked up if there are any HP crossovers, but there’s barely any. I think this has potential.
I started the next season and sadly Grace didn’t die. The first ep is confusing and meandering with how it starts 5 different things at once in a quite inefficient fashion, but maybe it’ll get better. Like, what’s the goal here?
I guess my problem is that they promised Tommy to be the smart one... but he’s constantly getting outwitted and suprised. What’s worse, he’s used as a hitman, despite being the boss?
Why would they kill Freddie the communist off-screen??? What a waste of a good character. There could be so much more done with him.

It’s so messed up how in Love and Redemption, Bai Lin basically promised marriage to the God of War by putting the red string on her life pillar so she won’t feel alone anymore (but luckily it never happened due to Bai Lin having an arranged political marriage with someone else).
??? WHO DID HE HAVE AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE WITH??? is that just in the book? I don’t think I noticed him arranged to have a marriage with anyone in the drama.
Or, if he did, then the storyteller guy kept insisting love would win out and “Bai Lin and the god of war” would be together. That was the extent I remember hearing about “the god of war loving Bai Lin and it not working out in that life” in the drama, from an outsiders perspective anyway.

god of war - doesn’t know why, but in her heart feels even more hurt. (what amounts to an ex, who’s trapped her in heaven, and is controlling her life, saying ‘yeah see you’re not alone’ when its so isolating emotionally for her to be living this life, and she’s not really free till she gets tf away from said-ex. lhjd/god of war/xuanji’s journey is like one long path of ‘fell for a man who was actually abusive, by the time i realized i was in too deep, he had me trapped’ and since its magic ‘he had me MEMORY LOST and trapped’ and then ‘eventually i STILL figured it out and fought his ass and tried to leave, someone stood up for me so i’d be banished to mortal lives instead of outright destroyed’ then ‘i lived some mortal lives just TRYING to protect myself and my heart after all THAT, this nice guy <Sifeng> kept showing me examples of actual kindness and love but i wasn’t ready to trust after THAT, so it took me a while to risk trying to meet <Sifeng> halfway. meanwhile, my awful fucking ex eventually fucked with my MORTAL LIFE too while oh Convienient i STILL had no memories, and damn i almost let him win thank goodness i realized even without all my memories what a SHADY person he is and had Sifeng around to contrast as what a good person who treats me better can be like, anyway i’m NEVER GOING BACK SUCKER.’ Then Luohuo Jidu comes back and like, even tho Xuanji got some closure both lhjd and her god of war sides sure didn’t, so they had some more issues to work out. Namely: I am back fucker and i am going to make sure you can NEVER trap me or fuck with me again i am going to END you. Until you know... their concious both starting with old lhjd and ending with newest xuanji, was like ‘we are better than this guy, we don’t have to stoop to his destruction, we’ll finish this on Our Terms.’
Also? I find it quite fascinating how when xuanji gets her other half (star of mosha), luohuo jidu is more like both lhjd AND god of war embodied. Like, i’m not sure how it was technically supposed to be. But how it came off to me, xuanji at that point was identifying as Luohuo Jidu - feeling those emotions most heavily, that viewpoint. But also that viewpoint seemed joined up with her god of war viewpoint. Since often lhjd would bring out that part of the personality - how god of war was hurt, how god of war was betrayed, how god of war feels. And of course, by the end, all three were coming out. Its just interesting to me because like. It seems like the star of mosha lamp is the piece of lhjd ripped out before the rest of him is turned into the ‘god of war puppet.’ So in theory that part wouldn’t have been around for the god of war part, or the later lives, or xuanji. But once its rejoined, i personally interpreted it as that part rejoining to complete xuanji (since she was missing that part of herself). And so, luohuo jidu is xuanji - just overwhelmed by all that newly reacquired anger (from the last time she Was luohuo jidu) that its what was at the forefront. But since its all xuanji at that point, the god of war is also joined up at that now, with its memories, also brought to the forefront because with her reacquired anger and hurt it probably seems more relatable/understandable to lhjd-xuanji than the life of xuanji she’d most recently lived which was probably xuanji at her most healed. I don’t feel like I’m describing this well at all ;-;
I’m just trying to say, I found it fascinating how like... since its all just xuanji, it feels like its her becoming ‘whole.’ Its just like, the process is a bit rocky so her time as lhjd seems to me like her sort of looking at the last still-hurt parts of herself and learning how to decompartmentalize the pieces of herself she’s forgotten or had taken at some point, and work them into a functional whole. So like... lhjd when he finally ‘appears’ in the present, is still just xuanji. It’s just xuanji finally having that lost bit of herself, the way she slowly reacquired the god of war parts of herself. And i find it cool how that part of her, seems to be more understanding to the god of war part, to that pain, and in a way her time as lhjd probably helps her work out the pain she’s been carrying as god of war, that her time reincarnating while having ‘forgotten’ didn’t totally heal yet. So its like, important that in that final battle xuanji turns into all 3 parts, her lives and experiences managing to heal finally now that she’s in one piece with all her memories, and addressing what she needs to.
And, as you or at least one anon has mentioned, its lovely also that. While she is luohuo jidu and herself, her lhjd part ends up using that core that was ripped out and apart as star of mosha, to heal Sifeng. Basically putting a piece of lhjd (original xuanji) into sifeng, to make them truly sharers of the same heart. xuanji is the product of someone who was ripped apart, and is what was left free after that. and when she eventually gets all of herself back - she willingly gives a piece of herself to sifeng. Somewhere she wants it - somewhere original her, lhjd, wants it. And just like Bai Lin drinking the poison in the end, there’s a cyclical nature to it.
A full circle return to what hurt lhjd in the beginning, and that being used in a healing way this time, in a consenting way this time. This final time - there is still a poison cup, but it is given to its victim honestly, and the victim chooses to drink it knowing the consequences (Bai Lin). This final time - xuanji is still not in one complete piece, but its because this time the fractured part of her is willingly given, to help someone she loves and CHOOSES to help, is knowingly given, and is placed somewhere it will be free and with her (in Sifeng, keeping him alive, something she wants) instead of caged up in a bottle and feared. There’s a lot of reasons I liked the end, and part of it is certainly because so much of it parallels what happened to xuanji in her first life as lhjd... but this time, it is all completely her choice, it is honest, it is willing, and it is healing.

Levitate: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I would really like to be able to teleport! It seems like it would be convienient.
Dead Bite: Do you believe in paranormal things?
Yes. One night I went down into my basement (Halloween night, actually. Why did I think going into my basement was a good idea?) and the lights started flickering, stuff started blowing around, there was totally a ghost in there.
Party By Myself: Rather spend time alone or with other people?
In a way, both. I don’t like being in a room with other people, but I enjoy texting people a lot. I’m not sure how to better explain it.
Young: What are common misconceptions people have about you?
I’m pretty shy, so I feel like a lot of the time people think I don’t want to talk to them, when really I would love to be friends. If someone ever wants to message me, do it. Once I break out of my shell I’ll probably never stop talking to you. I’m just really bad at making the first move.
