Chocolates Anytime, All the Time, Not even Romantically (an OL1 fic)

[a short one shot for Valentine's Day.

More on cherishing someone who is a constant in your life, even if it's not romantic.

Also Chocolates. Quite a fair amount.]

~First Summer~

Cove almost reaches back out as Jamie pulls away the ice cream cone. They’ve dropped by with two chocolate ones, one meant for their sister and one for themselves. When they saw him ( moping they insist, which he totally wasn’t. Obviously.) sitting on the sidewalk, they offered one to him.

“I get one too cause mom said it was only fair but you can have mine,” they shrug, a short segway to a quick tale of a quick errand from shopping street - really more of a Lizzy-quest. They try to hand over the quickly melting ice cream over to Cove again. “I like vanilla or white choco more anyways.”

Cove denies the icy treat, nevermind how hot a day it was. Jamie tries again, testing the waters as if to be sure before they look Cove square in the eyes. Their face falls, but they still try to smile. “Sorry, Ma says I can be kinda pushy. Don’t mean to make you uncomfy.”

Before Cove can reply, they say goodbye and rush back over to their house. Cove hears the annoyed yelling of an older sibling over melted ice cream and two mothers smoothing things over.

Cove waits for his dad to return, asking for chocolate ice cream. But somehow, Cove thinks as he munches down on the sweet treat in the cool summer evening, that the quickly melting mess this afternoon maybe would’ve tasted better.

~Adolescent Autumn~

Cove’s neighbors tended to celebrate holidays that were more uncommon, at least to the likes of Cove and his dad. One such holiday was the Mid Autumn Festival. Jamie explained during Cove’s first autumn in Sunset Bird that their moms encouraged Jamie to be attached to their roots, though saying it was up to them to keep celebrating it or not. But they enjoyed it, even if the whole walking around with colorful lanterns around the neighborhood was no longer a major part of the household festivities.

What remained though, were very delicious mooncakes. Well, at least they were if Jamie’s moms were making them.

“You don’t trust me, do you?” They’re pouting as Cove stares dubiously at the oblong shape supposedly mooncake. He’s pretty sure mooncakes were meant to be rounded at the very least…

(He later learns that mooncakes can be in all kinds of shapes, but he’s sure they’re not supposed to be misshapen and rather… limp? Mushy looking?)

“I mean…”

Jamie was notoriously known to be quite the disaster in the kitchen.

“Aw, c’mon Cove. I followed the recipe and everything!”

It was a chocolate fudge mooncake, according to Jamie. And as tempting as fudge sounds, Cove doesn’t necessarily have a death wish. But then again, Jamie was looking so mournful over Cove’s uneagerness to try.

Aw heck may as well.

So he holds up the somewhat a mooncake and takes a big bite.

“It’s,” Cove says through a mouthful of chocolate as Jamie pulls a face (Don’t talk with your mouth full, Cove!). “It’s good?”

“R-Really?”

“Yeah… I mean. It definitely tastes mostly like chocolate.”

So for the first time in the years since Cove moved into Sunset Bird, Jamie had made pretty edible food. It made for a funny Mid Autumn dinner seeing everyone’s reluctant expressions morph into relief like his own.

~Warm Winter~

Some guy from school invites Jamie to some couple skating rink event. Cove doesn’t even need to fully pay attention to know what the reply would be. Terri pats the dejected suitor as they walk away from their table. It’s not that Jamie doesn’t like guys or girls, according to said neighbor. They’ve speculated before they could like them. It’s just that Cove has never seen Jamie into anyone that way yet.

Ok , maybe that’s not completely true. There was one summer where Cove recounts Jamie expressing quite flusteredly to him and Derek of a mystery boy. Cove thinks said mystery boy is odd, not sure why it warrants Jamie’s… Blushes? The very unexpected shyness?

I mean, what kind of compliment is saying you have nice legs anyways?

Didn’t matter anyway, Cove decides. It was just a once in a lifetime kind of meeting anyways. Besides, Cove had more important things to think about. Like after school in his kitchen, wearily watching Jamie as he hopes they don’t burn everything down.

They’re not as bad as they used to be when handling kitchen utensils and open flames, but it doesn’t stop Cove from worrying. Someone had to, as his best friend tended to care and fuss about everything and everyone but themselves.

“Will you relax, Cove . I’m just making hot chocolate.”

“Fancy hot chocolate. I’d be more relaxed if you were just mixing a 3 in 1.”

They go into a dramatic speech about needing to indulge and enjoying themselves while they were young. Cove laughs as he takes a mug filled to the brim with chocolate topped with a mountain of marshmallows.

The day ended with literally twelve cups worth of hot chocolate and a double dare to chug everything. They almost do, splitting six cups between them, until his dad stops them three cups in. Probably for the best.

~Speculative Spring~

Cove never thought much about it, cause oddly enough, Jamie giving him chocolate - in all shapes and forms - just seemed like the normal thing. So not even the yearly chocolate gift from Jamie every February 14 since they’ve met really ever meant much of anything to him.

A guy from their class made a big fuss about it for some odd reason. “You’re the only guy Jamie gives chocolates to.”

Cove frowns, confusion rising. “Jamie gives chocolates to Miranda and Terri too?”

There were some outcries that it wasn’t the same, but Cove really didn’t get it. Jamie tended to give people sweet things all the time, and even on Valentines, he wasn’t some special exception. Even excluding Miranda and Terri, they gave an array of nicely packed chocolates to his dad, had ordered some to be delivered to Lee and his mom and their own family got to receive them first thing in the morning.

He asked them about it before, and they replied with a shrug. “It’s cause I love you all.”

And that was good enough for Cove. And he had to admit, it was just a nice constant. But he tells Jamie of their classmates' befuddlement while heading back to their street, and expectedly, they were amused. But they seemed to “get what they were getting at” at least.

“Maybe one day I’ll feel some kind of way for someone and I’ll get them a romantic Valentine,” Despite Jamie’s light tone, he can hear some wistfulness behind it. “But until then my dearest family members are good enough for me. Especially you, cause if I get to remind you every year that you’ll never be rid of me, the better.”

Cove doubles down on that, insisting that Elizabeth had the right idea, uniting their families with the two of them to form a powerful dynasty. Jamie insists they should proceed and start a chocolate empire. Cove sees no downside in that.

~Summer Fling~

Cove realizes that, for the first time, Jamie may get to send out that ever elusive romantic Valentine next Spring after all. And Baxter surely doesn’t know how lucky a guy he is, especially since Jamie has mastered the art of fudge. That and really great sentimental planning. He still can’t believe they out surprised him, and his heart swells. He tries not to get over emotional as he watches Jamie from his surfboard, on their nth attempt this summer to get Baxter used to the sea.

He can’t say he’s wowed over by the monochromaticly dressed tourist, but Jamie is happy and that’s all that matters to him. It’s odd to see his usually confident best friend somehow be reduced to a stuttering mess for some guy though. There’s also this feeling of unease he can’t explain…

Jamie’s happy , Cove reminds himself as he sees the couple later that day, Jamie coyly sharing their cookies and cream ice cone with Baxter.

Some part of him thinks Jamie should have picked vanilla or white chocolate like they always did…

~Spring Hearts~

It’s bittersweet. Both the chocolate and the day itself, Cove thinks.

At the very least, Jamie had not broken their streak of giving Cove chocolates. He even got to be the first person to get them this year. Well, hard not to as they were living together.

The previous summer really became one where he saw a different side of someone he thought he knew so well. Their insecurity of things changing, Cove and Jamie potentially being finally apart…

Well, the latter worry is a non issue of course. It would still be them against the world…

“It’s not tasty, huh?” Jamie smiles ruefully as they observe Cove’s expression.

“What? No, these are good!” Cove grabs a handful of the handmade chocolate. Jamie had made cute little hearts this year, branching out a little bit from just fudge.

“But you made a face!”

He did, but Cove quickly explains that he expected it to be milk chocolate, Jamie’s sweet tooth and all. He doesn’t comment on the batch of other chocolates that he knew Jamie dumped the night before, monochromatic hearts that used up all the milk chocolate ingredients…

“But I promise,” Cove says as he reaches for more. “Dark chocolate is just as good.”

“Good… Because you’re probably going to get these every year as my eternal Valentine.”

“I look forward to it.”

And not just on Valentines. Cove was certain he’d accept any and all chocolates from Jamie for all time.

There’s only 8 minutes left in the day where I am but happy Valentine’s Day🫶🏼💕💕💕 anyways I love the way Steve found out (still want him to walk in on them fucking tho👀) I felt such relief for R finally getting everything off her chest with steve and letting his punk ass know he’s being an entitled little selfish bitch and that she doesn’t deserve to be treated like that. Robin tho??? That shit hit close to home except R actually went up to her and talked about it. With me it just happened out of nowhere. Well I guess not really out of nowhere, I did feel like my friends didn’t want me around anymore but I kept telling myself it was in my head and then poof they stop talking to me and took me off of their priv stories. So reading what robin said to her basically calling her annoying really hit and made me tear up a little because looking back they kind of would ignore me or interrupt me not really caring what I had to say and then they started hanging out without me more. But then back to the update lmao. Eddie 🥹 bless his beautiful soul for taking care of her in the end and their little “I adore you” moment 🥹🥹🥹 I’m soft af rn ew

Oh, Steve will definitely walk in on them..... I'm dying to write this moment! It was definitely about time that she told him off. He for sure didn't expect it and if he wasn't as drunk as he was, he would have reacted differently to her little outburst!

I'm sorry about the situation with your old friends! That's literally the worst thing to happen, especially when they cut you off out of nowhere and you don't know what happened or what you did wrong. (Happened to me as well) as much as it hurts, fuck them. You are way better off without people like that in your life. You deserve a better friend group than that. Good people and good friends would never do that to you!

A to Z with Capt’n Levi

Levi Headcanons

A/n: I was suddenly short of words when I was writing this. Lol. I managed to finish. Lemme know how you like it, okay? * Baby bear face*

A: Attention - Loves getting attention from you, especially when swarmed with work, when you offer to make tea or a back massage, or even take care of his hardness. He loves them all equally.

B: Books - One of the traits Levi admires in you is that you read. He often offers to read to you and asks you to correct him if he mispronounces something. Since he grew up underground and never had access to proper education, he is kind of conscious of his spellings. The grave expression he makes as he starts reading makes him look like an innocent kid that thinks he is on the most critical mission of his lifetime.

C: Chivalry - The Captain is chivalrous, indeed. He often brings you flowers. All white, however. He believes in the purity of love and which other colors can signify it better. Moreover, it's his favorite.

D: Dirty Talk - Levi sucks at it, okay? His blunt honesty doesn’t aid the fact.

You: So, you have been accused of damaging someone’s private property, causing flood after flood. I must take you into custody(eying at the bed).

Him: Oh.

You: (trying to keep up) Will you take a look at the damage you’ve caused?

Him: Sure.

E: Enthuse(what excites him?) - It may sound cliche but, You calling him *Captain* when alone is the biggest turn on for him.

F: Foreplay - Levi likes feeling every inch of your body before he gets on with the actual business. He nibbles and kisses the most random places, making your body ask for more, slowly making his way to the sensitive parts. So, You tell me, who’s the king of foreplay?

G: Gifts- Levi doesn't wait for an occasion to get you something, nor do you. If you come across a vintage teapot or a new cleaning tool, you pick it up immediately. Likewise, if he finds something that you’d use or look good on you, he is bringing it home.

H: Hugs- Levi isn't much of a hugger but offers to when you are super low and need comfort. Levi always rests his chin on your shoulder when he hugs you. Back hugs, on the other hand, are very common to him. Especially after a long day, he wants to come home to your warmth and nothing else.

I: Ideal Date- Levi has enough adventures at work already so, Home dates are a luxury for him and you. You begin with morning tea and a little chat. You cook breakfast together and clean too before hitting the bedroom. Aftercare includes a shower, hair drying, and a little snack followed by his wholesome tea. You might go on a small horse ride or a walk in the evening.

J: Jealousy - Levi doesn’t show envy. If something is bothering him, he will be honest with you about it. But, he is sure to lose it if someone stares at you or makes you feel uncomfortable.

K: Kill - Would he kill for you? Ack. You know it already!

L: Liquor (Do you get drunk together?)-

Occasionally you do. Levi seems to hold his booze quite well. Levi does enjoy watching you get drunk and go berserk. Of course, he is there if things go out of hand. That's why you drink crazy in the first place.

M: Massages - He is on the receiving end, mostly. Since he stays awake late at night working, you often offer him shoulder massages.

N: Nos(Turnoffs) - Not addressing the elephant in the room, untidiness, and cold tea.

O: Ogle - Was he ogling you before you got together? Yes. Does he still do? YES! and you love it when those bluish-grey deep set of eyes check you out like it's the first time. The captain’s eyes speak louder than his mouth, and you're more than okay with it.

P: PDA-Levi isn’t a fan tbh. The most you do is hold hands in public except on the last Valentine's day when you were crossing the bridge. The atmosphere was so irresistible that you had to kiss him.

Q: Quarrel- Like any other couple, you have your differences too. Friction between you two is mostly because of Levi’s poor work-life balance and his OCD. Nothing that can't be taken care of before the day ends.

R: Roleplaying- Housekeeper and the owner any day. Oh, and you switch the roles too. Guess who looks darn cute wearing that white lacy headpiece?

S: Snuggles- Does he get Cozy with you often? Not really. Not that he doesn’t like it, it’s just that he can’t initiate. He never discourages you from snuggling up to him. You spoon most of the winter nights.

T: Tickle - Is he Ticklish? Surprisingly Yes. Humanity’s strongest soldier is also one big ass sensitive baby. A Tickle battle is one of those rare things that gets a peal of laughter out of him.

U: Underrated part- His butt! His sinfully sexy butt. You often kindle him by whacking that piece of art. His reaction is worth a million dollars.

V: Variety - Who brings in variety in the relationship? You, Definitely. You are always trying out new stuff. Thanks to his honest feedback, it’s easier to find something you both like, sooner.

W: Walks- When Levi doesn’t have to jump right back to work after dinner, he asks you to go on walks. They are the best. You get to catch up with each other’s day, and Levi is usually in a good mood post walks.

X: X-mas - Well, Christmas is just a decoy. What is more important is his birthday, which falls on the same day. He doesn't like celebrating or even remembering it. The last time you baked a cake and wished him, he said.

”I see. You're eager to celebrate me getting another year closer to death,”

You stopped bothering him since then. You still decorate the house, bake his favorite cookies, and dress up. His birthday coinciding with Christmas is a blessing in disguise, after all.

Y: Yes - Stuff that might seem annoying but, Levi doesn’t mind- A little goofy-ness, snapping at him, messing up his hair, and mimicking him.

Z: Zzzzz/Sleep - What type of a sleeper is he? Levi doesn't snore but moves a lot in his sleep! Often he wakes up in the middle of the night, settles on a chair for the rest of the night. Despite you assuring that throwing his limbs around in sleep does not bother you.

A/n; I accidently posted this little too early aaaaaaaaa

Kaeya

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

I mean- this is Kaeya we're talking about. So like-

Romantic to the max

He's both creative and cliche. Regardless, it always comes as a surprise to you. The cryo user always finds a way to surprise you and in the end, it (hopefully) makes you happy~!

He likes making you flustered above all

Kaeya is a teasing man, he can become greedy with kisses. Leaving you breathless and flustered before leaving a mere peck on your lips before leaving with the excuse that he has to patrol or something.

Other times he gives into a passionate kiss, filled with emotions and his affection all for you. Easily sending goosebumps through your skin

And there are some occurrences where your boyfriend will surprise you with a nice relaxing date. Completely random, just out of the blue leading you to pre-prepare a little dinner he set up with the help of Sara.

Kaeya surely is a mysterious man indeed

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He wants everyone in Teyvat to know that you're his partner.

So yes he's really upfront about it and is definitely not afraid to smooch you in front of others. Even in front of Diluc- no hesitation. In fact, he's more provoked to press his lips against your skin if Master Diluc is around. Anything to annoy his brother.

This man's pda holds no limit, if he wants to teasingly kiss in public, he'll gladly do so. Holding hands with dozens of people around? Yes. Cuddles and hugs despite being in a public area? Absolutely. Making out in front of Dawn Winery's red-headed bartender? Yah

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Has a few but mainly likes to call you 'babe' or 'love.'

But that's not to say that he doesn't have any nicknames for you. Kaeya can have some really teasing nicknames that drive you crazy and other times he has some sweet and thought-out nicknames that make your heart swell from the love and affection behind it. And it's those moments where you can really see how much trust he has in you.

Childe

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

Childe lives to make his s/o happy. If his partner even remotely looks sad or under the weather he's there immediately to spice up their day

Can be really creative with his antics, but some of his favorite ways to romance his partner fall under the cliche techniques. He really enjoys dates and strolling around the city of Liyue after dark.

He's also a bit of a tease, less to make you fluster and more to shower you in affection. But don't get me wrong this man can be a jerk when teasing.

But Childe really dislikes seeing his partner troubled and wishes to make them happy. It's his duty as your boyfriend! When you are feeling under the weather, Childe peppers you in more affection and does little things that boost your mood significantly

It's during times where you're feeling down, he gets really creative with his methods. He wants to catch you by surprise and hopes that it's enough to put a smile on your face

All in all, Childe is a romantic lover who thrives on making you happy

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship.

Not exactly a quirk, but this man is a walking wallet. When he wants to spoil you, he can really spoil you. However, most times he does this are on dates of significance; Birthdays, anniversaries, valentines, etc.

He's a pretty good cook and can make some delicious dishes for special occasions. He likes cooking for you, and he's more than delighted if you wish to cook with him as well

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

Pretty upfront about the relationship, he loves you to bits and wants to show you off to everyone. The only occurrences in which he is secretive about his love life are when it comes to the Fatui. It's Childe's mission to keep his s/o safe and he's aware that the Fatui could be that source of harm

So he's really careful to who he describes his relationship with

But that's not to say that he's afraid to kiss you in public. Nope- Childe's pda can be similar to Kaeya's, if he wants to kiss you in public, he'll do so. And he's not shy about it.

Childe likes to be holding you in some way. Whether it be holding hands or resting his arm at your waist. He really likes holding your hand. It's subtle but it's reassuring that you're there. It's not too attention-seeking either which helps with the whole Fatui situation.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

So. Many.

Oojo-chan is just one among the hundred he has just for you. You could wake up one day to find yourself with a new nickname.

Has a lot of variety in his nicknames. Some of your personality and others just there to tease you. And man, he has a lot of teasing and playful nicknames just reserved for you.

Childe would be amused if you have a nickname for him. He takes pride in it.

Miyagi Setter Squad Responding to “I Love You”

I can’t condition because I sprained my ankle again so here you guys go. Also I’m so sorry for the oddly specific name but if you want the other setters lmk 😭 I’ll do them later I’m too tired. ⚠️SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 ⚠️

Oikawa Tooru

You were over at his house to study and maybe pass around a volleyball for a couple hours.

It was a pretty peaceful setting, you were splayed out on the floor looking at the ceiling

And he was on his computer doing god-knows-what.

It definitely wasn’t homework-

The silence is destroyed by your phone buzzing.

Your ride was here.

So you pick up your stuff, and you’re just about to walk out the door when it slips out.

“I love you, bye!”

This smooth fuck will pretend to be totally chill on the outside.

But on the inside he’s probably exploding.

He has seen this in movies, read it in books, seen it told to other people.

A couple of people have even said it to him.

(Even though he had no idea why because he had only known them on a last name basis for thirty seconds.)

So he knew alllll about it and exactly how to respond.

But...He didn’t execute as well as he wanted to.

So he ends up giving you some weird ass eyes as his whole face flushes.

“I love you tOo, Y/n.”

You don’t know whether to laugh at him or just leave

But you’re grinning the whole way home.

Yahaba Shigeru

‘Yahaba does not get annoyed at much’

Lies. He gets annoyed at so much that he thinks he might have some repressed anger issues.

The butt naked screaming in the bath after losing to Karasuno helped him come to that conclusion.

But not much actually sets him off.

In other words, he’s not slamming anyone against the wall unless it’s really fucking important.

Or, nowadays, when someone does something to cross you.

Now, you did not know that Yahaba was capable of throwing hands until today.

Because most of his wounds were dealt out verbally.

However, you figured the guy that stole your gym clothes deserved it.

You were just planning to leave it alone, but there he was.

Off campus.

Tackling this random dude.

The fight lasts about thirty seconds before you can run into certain death and break it the fuck up before someone goes to jail.

The dude has a bloody nose already and he listens to you and steps back.

“Apologize.”

He mumbles out a sorry before stalking away.

Yahaba is looking way too pleased with himself.

“That’s assault.”

“That’s chivalry.”

“Shigeru, I love you, but don’t fucking do that again.”

He mumbled a response back. “Yeah yeah I won’t. I love you too.”

It will probably take him at least an hour for that to hit-

Kageyama Tobio

He doesn’t have a very affectionate family, so that phrase has probably only been used sparingly around him.

But he has been silently willing you to say it to him for a while.

He’s already on top of the world when he beats Aoba Johsai.

You are so proud of him for finally taking down his rival.

When that final point is scored, you’re going crazy in the stands with Yachi, Saeko, and Shimada.

It was the most excited you had seen him in a long time.

He achieved his goal! He was now the best setter in the prefecture.

Not that he wasn’t before, obviously 🙄

But you’re sitting on the bus with him after they win, and it’s quiet.

Kageyama’s happy, you’re happy, and there’s almost no one on the bus.

You rest your head on your shoulder.

“I’m so proud of you. I love you so much, Tobio.”

*bang bang there goes your HEAAAAART*

On the outside he gets that wobbly look on his face, but on the inside he’s like

TWO IN ONE DAY?!

You’ve just been watching him smile at the bus driver for twenty seconds before he snaps out of it.

“Ah-I love you too, Y/n.”

You didn’t expect him to be so excited about that.

It was the sweetest thing ever.

Sugawara Koushi

It was after he came up to you and told you that he would no longer be in Karasuno’s starting lineup.

And at first you’re like.

“Bull-fucking-shit Koushi, what do you mean you’re not starting?”

He explains that a new first year setter had arrived with much better technique.

And that the coach had sat him down and explained that to him.

And that he knew that Kageyama was better and that he would be supporting the team from the bench.

You can tell his heart is breaking with every second he tells you this.

So you need to shut him up. Getting mad at the coach wouldn’t help.

You start telling him all the things he can do to still be a significant player.

He could stat games, keep a notebook, make hand signals, paint the notebook-

You can tell he’s feeling much better about himself by the end of your talk.

You pick your next words very carefully.

“You’re gonna have a great season, trust me. I love you, okay?”

Alllll the color just drains from both of your faces.

He’s like “yeah-wait. You love me?”

You rethinking your life decisions: “Yeah?”

“I love you too.”

“...Good.”

“Good.”

Shirabu Kenjirou

You were on your way to school, making fun of stereotypical romance mangas.

Oh shit. You did not mean to say that. For Christ’s sake, it had only been a month.

He looks like he’s seen Goshiki fall down the stairs. Almost triumphant.

Was very well planned out and very thought through.

It was ✨Valentine’s Day✨

And you had it written down in a card because you were pussying out you were a little nervous.

Plus, you could always brush it off and pretend like writing it down wasn’t as big of a deal as saying it.

On the other end, Semi was also planning to tell you.

Like, he was sure you already knew.

And he was sure he was making it into a bigger deal than it should have been.

But whatever, Semi’s never been one to do things halfway anyhow.

He just wasn’t obvious about it.

So, Shiratorizawa was just g l i t t e r i n g that morning.

Which was why you both were currently at a cafe, very far away from it.

This had also been planned, because his coach would not like it very much if he knew he didn’t have the Flu.

So you guys are laughing, talking, awkwardly holding hands over the table.

It’s so obvious that both of you are nervous.

And Semi’s like “wHats wRoNg bAbY?”

As if he’s not in the exact same situation.

So you just hand him the card and the gift you got him for Valentine’s Day and he opens it up.

And you’re basically ready to melt into the floor when he puts the card down.

“You love me huh?”

No answer.

“Well, I love y o u t o o.”

He got so quiet at the end, but the words were finally said, and you were both satisfied.

Eijun is so focused on expressing his appreciation for you, that he entirely doesn't expect something from you

Definitely gives you a big hug, like the kind where you both sway side to side for a bit and your faces are tucked into eachothers necks

TAKIGAWA CHRIS YUU, MY KING OF UNINTENTIONAL ROMANTIC GESTURES!!

When I say unintentional I mean he just thinks they're nice things to do

But you on the other hand can't help but SWOON

He gets you a single red rose and a bag of your favorite convenience store snacks

He opted for a single rose because a full bouquet (in his opinion) is a bit over kill

Plus, one rose is easy to transport, especially when he tucks it behind your ear and proceeds to call you the most beautiful thing in the world

Oh Furuya...you sweet boy

Valentine's day? That's . . . a thing you're supposed to celebrate?

Sawamura lectures him on the importance of the holiday. He's so offended that Furuya just disregarded it

Furuya has no idea what to do, so Sawamura and Haruichi try to help him out a bit

So the chaotic trio are wandering around the store the NIGHT before Valentine's day trying to find a present for you

Eijun is going the very traditional route and is like cards! Flowers! Candy!

But nothing he offered felt very . . . you

Eventually Haruichi just asks what you enjoy and the light bulb goes off in Furuyas head

So the three of them leave with a grumbling Eijun and a very pleased Furuya with a fluffy, heart patterned blanket tucked safely in a bag

You, on the other hand, have the easiest time getting Furuya a gift

Originally, you were gonna get him the little ice cream bars he loves, but then a polar bear plush caught your eye and you couldn't turn it down

When you give it to him his eyes are all sparkly and he's got the hint of a smile on his face

He immediately hugs it to his chest and then gives you the blanket

Obviously the two of you cuddle and take a nap together. A plushy and a blanket are a great combination

(Furuya sleeps with the polar bear plushy every night because it reminds him of you )

Mei

HES SO ANNOYING OH MY GOD

Even if he had a partner and their relationship was public he'd still end up with a bunch of Valentines from classmates

He's not gonna shut up about getting a bunch of gifts

He's all "Oooo look how many I got! As expected for the ACE of Inashiro 😝✌️"

He'd eventually stop his bragging, but he's still all smug

I feel like Mei would be absolutely whIPPED for his partner, so he wants you to feel extra special

I'm cringing so hard writing this, but ya know those huge ass teddy bears people get eachother?

I'm talking those 3 to 4 ft. bear plushies

Yeah he rolls up to school with one for you

“okay… it’s not a big deal…” the present in your bag feels like it’s weighing you down as you make your way down the hallway back to the classroom

this is happening all too fast

“the janitor said that he had to leave early tonight so i told him i’d stay behind after class to clean the classroom myself, but now that you’re here - why don’t you start wiping down the mirrors?” jimin gestures towards the grubby mirrors at the front of the classroom before pointing towards the door “and i’m going to go find the mop and bucket.”

“oh!” you drop your duffle bag to the ground with a flop when jimin tosses a rag at you “well, mr. park, you see, i actually wanted to-“

“less talking, more cleaning, miss y/l/n…” jimin raises a brow at you before clapping his hands together “chop chop!”

“but i-“ you groan quietly when jimin slips out of the room before turning to look at the foggy mirrors

he wore a white button up and slacks to class today which isn’t anything out of the usual except for the fact that now he’s unbuttoned the top couple of buttons and he’s rolled + pushed up the sleeves and you’d be lying if you said you weren’t bothered by it

the chain around his neck seems to wink at you under the lights and almost immediately you wonder what his chain would look like hanging above you

you swallow thickly before scrubbing harder at a smudge on the bar

it probably has something to do with the three iced lattes he drank but aLso it doesn’t really help that for the last 20 minutes he’s been alone with you and it’s driving him crazy

he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about you

you’ve been grand jetéing all over his damn mind for the last two weeks!!

lately he’s just been finding it more than difficult to suppress and deny his feelings for you

like during the ten minute break in the middle of class he thinks it’s so sweet how excited you get when you pull your snacks out of your bag

the other day you brought in some cherries and you were making some of the girls crack up because you were trying to use the cherry juice to stain your lips for a make-shift lipstick but you were failing miserably

and then when you noticed he was watching you you immEdiately wiped your mouth with the back of your hand and ended up smearing cherry juice across your cheek and he had to try sO hard not to crack a smile at that

or when one of the girls asks you to help them out with a move you’re always so willing to help out

it’s pretty normal for jimin to give you guys about half an hour of class time to just get used to the routine and practice it on your own (and also this time gives him the chance to sit back and relax a little bit)

but he’s noticed that y/n the student is very different from y/n the teacher

“okay, 5-6-7-8- nope. no. try again. here we go, 5-6-7-up- okay, you need to get this timing right otherwise you’re going to be a beat behind for the entire routine.” you shake your head as you look at lisa in the mirror “are you paying attention? you go on the 8, you don’t go after the 8. i don’t know how many times i need to tell you that.”

“right, sorry…” lisa mutters as she gets back into first position and blows some hair out of her face

anyways while he was walking you through the correct posture and all that he couldn’t help but notice the way that you were staring at yourself in the mirror

there’s a little divot in between your brows and your tongue is poking out a little in between your lips and jimin doesn’t know how this is the first time he’s seen you make this face because you look like a little puppy and it’s adORABLE

every time he thinks he’s finally gotten control of his feelings for you you manage to reel him riGht back in

“mr. park?” jimin snaps out of it when you speak up and he blinks twice before looking at you in the mirror

in fact, he prides himself on being able to handle anything that comes his way while remaining both level-headed and classy

these people really need to invest in some proper cleaning equipment

also you’re scrubbing so hard that your arm is going to pop out of its socket soon

and you’ve been on your hands and knees for the last ten minutes so every joint in general is starting to get a little sore

maybe you should take a brea-

“okay, i know you said you didn’t want anything, but i noticed that you didn’t bring a snack in with you today so you must be at least a little peckish.” you jump three feet into the air when the door suddenly swings open and you quickly get up off the ground

you can’t help but hiss a little in pain when your knee cracks

the weirdest thing about this studio is the vast array of lights hanging on the ceiling

because there are little spotlight bulbs lined up where the mirror is at the front of the room along with the back of the room which are warmer toned

on the ceilings are the classic tube fluorescent lights which obviously have a whiter tint to them

nighttime classes aren’t a huge thing so most of the time you guys don’t even use the lights because the suN is your source of light so you never really understood why the studio was designed this way

anyway, the point is - bright fluorescent lights certainly don’t scream romance but now that they’re dead and you’re left with the warm, golden glow of the spotlight bulbs,..,,. this feels more like a date than a simple shared meal

“christ… i bet the janitor didn’t change the lights like i asked him to.” jimin scoffs as he looks up at the ceiling

the two of you spend the next half an hour or so playing the game while finishing up dinner

at one point you nearly wipe your greasy fingers on your skirt and jimin swats your hand away before telling you that if you walked into his class with a dirty uniform on he would definitely kill you

“okay, give me one last one before we clean up and get back to… well, cleaning up.” jimin pops the lid back onto the empty cup and sets it aside

also you’re going to need to ask him where he bought dinner from because the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was actually incredible

“fine, but you have to promise not to get mad or anything- that one time i forgot to bring my pointe shoes was definitely on purpose… we have a nickname for you that i can’t say because the others would kill me for it… ooh, and here’s a good one-“ you snort as you perk up in excitement “all of the girls in class have fallen deeply in love with you after you gave everyone roses on valentine’s day.”

A = Attraction (how do they show their attracted to you?)

Compliments, a lot of them, all the time. He wants you to feel like the most beautiful thing in the world and it started before you even started dating. He was just so pleased by your smile when he was complimenting you so he never stopped since then.

He also tease you a lot, but it’s never in a rude way, as a genuine funny men it’s really just in his nature to annoy the persons he likes so he always make a little fun of you before making himself apologise to you by complimenting you. It’s his way of having your intention.

B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/why not?)

It’s a big YES ! You actually talked about it really seriously and considered having a family in a close future. Partly because Tom is already 33 years old so he don’t want to wait to much but also just because he knows you would do an amazing mother at his side.

Not that he wants to put pressure on you but he does talks about it a lot and likes to give slight clues that he wants to make a baby with you really soon. It’s actually a matter of time before you start expanding the family.

C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)

Tom’s favorite activity with you is probably it, he could spend his life cuddling with you. Something he loves to do is laying on the couch, his head on your lap as you play with his hair while you’re watching tv. He easily fall asleep in this position which can’t help but making your heart melt every time.

He also loves to lay in bed with you while you read your favorite book. You’ll have you head on his chest and it will be his turn to play with your hair or caress your skin, never failing to give you goosebumps.

D = Dates (What are dates like with them?)

Really cheesy and romantic, one thing he loves to do is prepare surprise meal so you’ll get back from work and discover the whole house decorated in a romantic ambiance. Candles, roses, warm light and Tom in his best costume. Than you’ll share the meal he either spent the whole day making and almost burn the house at least 3 times or pay someone to do it, but it’s always delicious anyway.

One day he brought you to a fairground and you both went back in childhood for a night it was magical ! One of your best date with Tom.

Yes ! Tom is a very emotional person and you’re the only one that even if he wanted to, couldn’t hide they’re feeling. He’s also a really authentic person so if he’s happy he will smile and laugh with you but if he’s sad he won’t be scared to cry if front of you because he feels safe enough around you.

F = Feelings (When did they know they were in love)

One day he was just looking at you while you were telling him about your day while cuddling on the couch like you both love to do, and it just hit him, he realised how he loves to just sit and look at your beautiful face. He could listen to your voice for the rest of his life.

Yes, he’s the most gentle person in the world. Every time he touches you it’s always super soft and loving. He loves to caress your skin and never falling to give you chills down your spine.

He’s also super gentle in his words, he always careful of what he says to not hurt you or say something you could take wrongly.

Yes, all the time, but literally ALL THE TIME. He just need to feel you hand in yours, so outside when you’re walking together he takes you hand, when you’re sitting on the couch, he takes your hand, even in public when there’s paparazzi following you around he takes your hand to make sure everyone knows you’re his.

Btw, Interlacing your fingers together is a must for him.

The first thing he noticed about you is your smile, you directly seems like a sympathetic person which he loved. So he had a really good impression of you.

J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?)

A little bit, like every relationship there’s always a bit of jealous when a guy compliment you a little too much but he genuinely trust you so you are not the person to make him jealous.

K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who intiated the first kiss?)

Kissing Tom is always soft, passionate and just full of love. Also, you do it all the time, it’s like he can’t get enough of your lips, he could kiss them for hours if he didn’t need to breath to survive.

He’s the one who kissed you first, he just couldn’t control himself anymore that night so he kissed you in a passionate and hungry kiss and let me tell you, it was the best kiss of your two lives.

Affection, Tom gives you a lot of affection, he wants you to feel loved and appreciated. He likes to cover you with kisses all over your skin, or hug you for hours. He’ll never get enough of feel your body against his.

M = Mornings (Are they a morning person? What are they like in the morning?)

Definitely not a morning person, it takes him ages to wake up, you usually have to return in your room a few times for him to actually wake up. And when he’s up, he’s really grumpy and slow in his movement, it’s funny and cute to see and you love to annoy him in the mornings.

N = Nickel (Do they spoil you? Do they buy the person they love everything?)

Yes ! Your smile, is the most precious thing to him and he just love to see it when he buys you something. But, Tom offer gifts pretty rarely, one occasion like your birthday, Valentine’s Day, any important day in your couple and maybe a few times between them. But when he offers something it’s always full of meaning !

Like, one time he bought you a shelf necklace because one day, when you were at the beach without him, you took a shelf and brought it back to offer it to him.

O = Open (Do they say everything about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or overtime?)

Tom is a really open person, very talkative so even before you two were dating he already like to talk about his life considering the fact that he had a pretty crazy one. But it’s was mostly about his work and anecdotes on set etc. When he started catching feeling for you he felt comfortable enough to talk to you about more personal things like his past relationships or the problems he struggled with in the past and he just got you two even more close.

P = Patience (Do they have patience? Are they angered easily?)

Tom is the most patient guy on earth, You often wonder how he puts up with you. He needs a lot to get angry at you or anyone else, this is something you’re really wanting to learn from him.

Q = Quaint (What’s their favorite non modern thing to do?)

Take Polaroid pictures, he has that old camera that he carries everywhere and he takes photos of every moment he feels like to picture. He stock his photos in a little hidden box, sometimes you two like to open it again and just remember memories you made together. The pictures are mostly you and willow or him with you.

Your favorite picture is one you took the first night you slept at his house, you can see the naked man being the goofy Tom he is by walking out of the shower with a “hat” made of bubble from the bath you took together. It was hilarious and you two always laugh when you see the images.

R = Remember (What’s their favorite moment in the relationship?)

The first time you told him: “I love you” ! You said it without even realising it, it truly came from your heart and it surprised the both of us but it was such a important moment for Tom that he will never forget it.

S = Security (How protective are they?)

Tom is really protective, he cares about your security a lot and always gets worried when you’re about to do something dangerous and he only calms down when you’re safe again.

T = Talking (what do they like to talk about?)

Everything and anything as long as it means talking to you but the two subject he could talk for hours are dogs and music. You can sit in front of him and just nod a couple time without even responding and he would go on a full conversation about the different breeds of dogs and how they are amazing. And honestly it’s super cute to look at him all excited and passionate about these two subjects.

U = Ugly (Whats a bad habit of theirs?)

Does Tom even have defaults ? Oh yeah, He loves to devalue himself, for absolutely no reason. This breaks your heart every time and always comfort him so that he can love himself more. He’s so perfect to you that sometimes you don’t understand why he’s so hard on himself.

V = Vaunt (Do they like to show you off?

Yes...all the time, the little smile on his face every time he present you as his girlfriend is just too adorable. Then he would talk to everyone about amazing you are and how lucky he is to have you in his life. He’s just proud of himself and proud of your union.

W = Whole (Do they feel incomplete without you?)

Tom is a different person without you. When he has to leave to a set for a movie he looks a little sad. He misses you every time you’re not together and always count the days before retrieving you.

Determination!

He admires how much effort and love you can put into something.

Don’t matter what happens, you won’t give up.

If you’re willing to give up, Abbacchio would try to give you support.

You make all these incredible things, there’s no reason to stop now.

But if that is really hurting you physically/mentally, Abbacchio will encourage you to stop for some time and relax. (He’ll give you a bath and maybe take a bath with you, if you’re too tense)

B = Body (what is their favorite part of your body?)

Your thighs!

He likes the warmth of it and finds it very comfy.

Sometimes he gets home while you're watching tv, and he just put his head in your thighs and take a nap.

C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)

Abbacchio isn’t the type to cuddle.

But he starts getting more used to it after some time dating.

Give him a surprise hug and he will scream.

Abbacchio will get angry and tell you to never mention this happened to the Passione members.

He likes it when you two are laying in the bed and cuddling together but will pretend he doesn't like it.

Abbacchio can either be the small spoon or the big spoon... He will deny he likes being the small spoon btw.

Abbacchio likes to do home dates, just you and him, laying in the bed or lying on the couch, with your head on his chest while watching some movie and drinking some wine.

Abbacchio's perfect date is you and him taking a walk on the beach at night, the starry night, the ocean sounds, only you and him. Just the thought of it makes him feel content.

Abbacchio is difficult to read.

He is not even a little bit vocal about emotions (he will get a little more vocal after some 6/7 months dating you), so you better learn how to read him.

He has a problem showing his emotions.

Sometimes he only shows his emotions if he is feeling them extremely, like extreme anger or extreme sadness.

He is afraid of disturbing you with his emotions.

F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)

Abbacchio doesn’t like the thought of having a family because of his work.

He would love to create memories with his family and spend time with them. (even though, he won't show it too much)

And by working for the mafia, he won’t have much time to spend with his kids.

One of Abbacchio's biggest worries is involving his kids with the mafia. It’s dangerous for both him and the kids.

He is really afraid of losing his family, so he would be protective.

Abbacchio is also really afraid of being a bad father or giving his kids an inadequate example.

But, he likes the thought of getting home and has his children greeting and hugging him. oh boy I'm getting soft

Abbacchio won’t even remember giving gifts is a thing, until you give him a gift on Valentine's day, while you ask him what he prepared for you.

He would look at you with a confused expression, like, Valentine’s day? who’s she? until he realizes.

He would admit he forgot it and would feel guilty after that, but won’t show it.

He will often forget about events he has to give you gifts.

After that, Abbacchio would do mental notes, of what things you like to receive, and/or would ask you directly what you would like to receive.

Abbacchio wouldn’t give gifts for special dates (only if like, you celebrate your birthday? he would give you a gift)

He would give you gifts at random moments, he saw something you would like? he would buy and give you as a gift. But he prefers when you two go together choose a gift for you.

He will be grateful if you give him something, but he won’t mind if he doesn't receive any gifts.

H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)

Abbacchio isn’t the type who likes PDA, so he would just hold hands with you when you and he are alone, mostly at home.

He would hold your hand when you are laying in the bed with him, or on the couch.

He will hold your hand more often after some time dating you.

Instead of holding hands, Abbacchio prefers putting his arm around your shoulder.

I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)

Even if his stand isn’t the type to hurt someone, he would make sure to make whoever hurt you s u f f e r.

But, he will pretemnd to be a little annoyed if you want him to take care you.

If Abbacchio has to go out for some reason, he would call Bruno to take care of you while he is out.

Neither jokes nor pranks.

He doesn't like to prank you if he accidentally hurt you? better not risk it.

Abbacchio just points out something he finds funny and/or thinks you would like it.

I believe abbacchio already had other s/o while working as a cop, so he has experience with kissing.

Abacchio’s first kiss with you is going to be experienced and kinda rough.

Abbacchio is rough when he kisses you, but, if you want him to be more passionate, you just need to ask him and he will try.

He doesn’t do it naturally and will get a little annoyed, but will give goodnight kisses if you ask him.

He likes it when you kiss the top of his head and gives him forehead kisses.

He will never admit it though.

Abbacchio isn’t vocal about what he feels, so he rarely says he loves you, or how beautiful he think you are.

But, he says at random moments in a murmur expecting you to not listen, if you do and responds to him he will be a blushing mess and will get angry while trying to hide it.

Like said in “c” he isn’t the cuddle type, he prefers to randomly kiss you while you two are in private.

M = Memory (favorite memory together?)

One night, when you two got home from an exhausting day of work, took a bath together, delivered some pizza, and after some time you two were already drunk 2 bottles of wine and were really needy and laughing while staring at the wall.

Abbacchio won't admit he got drunk like that the next day and will deny he did anything last night that. (even though he remembers almost everthing)

Not the best memory but definitely a really good and funny one, he chuckles whenever he remembers that night.

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

Losing you.

At the beginning of the relationship, he is reluctant about being with you, he is afraid to create a bond with you and happen the same thing again.

You are the most precious thing that happened to his life, you are like a light to him.

Losing you would just ruin his life.

Even if he is a little rough sometimes, he loves you with all his heart and would do anything for you.

When Abbacchio drinks too much wine he starts to get really touchy and needy with you.

If you two are at some Passione reunion/party it almost starts to bother the whole gang, but soon they find it funny how needy Abbacchio can be.

He will deny he did that the next day.

At the beginning of the relationship, he would call you by your nickname.

After some months when he gets more comfortable. He would call you caro/cara (dear) and Tesoro (treasure).

And after some 8 months of dating, he would call you “amore” sometimes. ( he calls you amore more often as time pass)

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)

Abbacchio likes to lay with you on the couch under a huge blanket, and just stays there enjoying the moment, while he plays with your hair (He also likes when you play with his hair)

You sometimes take a nap in his chest. Come on, who doesn't want to just lay your head in his tidy window and enjoy the warmth and the moment?

He also likes it when you two sit on a table outside of the house during the night and drink some wine while staring at the dark sky.

Abbacchio is the type who listens to some alt-rock and indie rock. But don’t mind listening to some classics.

After all the bad things that happen, the Passione (mostly Bruno but let’s get Bruabba out of his) and you were the best things, he started having some hope after entering the mafia and meeting you.

His world got brighter when he met you.

S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)

Abbacchio isn’t the type to say “ hey, I want to tell you something”

I think he would just drop his secrets in a random conversation.

Even though he would drop out of nowhere, Abbacchio would overthink if he should tell you, and which moment is the best to tell you.

He’ll only say he needs to tell you something if: is something he wants to tell you as soon as possible, if he can’t find the right moment, or if he is too anxious to tell you.

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

6 months or more

In the first two months, Abbacchio would try to figure out what he was feeling.

in the next two months he would just deny what he is feeling, he must be wrong, this isn’t his kind of stuff. He is too rough to love someone.

After that, he will accept his feelings better but will think he has no chance with you for the next two months

A guy like him? rough with everyone, hard to deal, that just-drinks wine all day? no way you could accept him, someone so good with a guy like him.

After that period, Abbacchio wouldn’t take any step. These two months of believing no one deserves him won….

UNTIL YOU CONFESS YOUR FEELINGS TO HIM.

He would have a hard time saying that what you feel is reciprocal. He would be kinda rough but you know he means what he says. Abbacchio isn’t the type to prank someone *ep 5 flashbacks* y-you know what I mean. There’s no reason to lie about it.

He is just afraid of getting close to someone he likes and then happening the same as years earlier.

He would give it a try, maybe someone like you can date a guy like him right?

Abbacchio knows that you’re upset the moment he looks at you.

Abbacchio feels a lot of things, so he can read you very well.

He would put an arm around your shoulder and ask what happened.

If you tell him, he will give a hum to show he listened to you. And comfort you.

If you want to spend the day with him he would be glad, but he also understands if you want to be alone.

V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)

Abbacchio will only show you something he is REALLY proud of, he charges himself a lot, so when he do some mistake he ends up not liking that much.

When abbacchio is proud of something, he will show that thing to you saying to take a look after that he will say with a small smile on his face "I did it"

W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)

Abbacchio is fine with you fighting, he knows you can take care of yourself.

But will be really protective if it is a mission you will go alone.

He prefers when you two go together on a mission, so he can keep an eye on you and make sure you’re safe.

X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)

Like said earlier, really well!

Abbacchio would make mental notes about how you act in each mood.

He would also make notes about how you cope when you’re in “negative” emotion.

So he knows what you’re feeling, and might be able to do it with you and help you in some way.

It would take Abbacchio really long to propose to you, he still doesn’t believe you like him.

He would say how you look good dressed like that the whole walk.

You two stopped to watch the sea and the moon, and then he would say he wanted to tell you something...

“I’ve been thinking about this for some time… I know I’m not the best guy in the world… but...” he would say this while getting on his knees and taking a little box out of his pocket.

“ You want to marry me?” Abbacchio says while opening the box and showing a ring with not too many jewels on, and waiting anxiously for your response.

The Sweetest of Them All

A/N: just another little bonus part of the AFTR universe that I came up with out of nowhere. Also, I left this as third person instead of second. Enjoy!

Word Count: 3.2k

Y/N has never been a big fan of Valentine's Day.

To her, it was overrated and expensive. But, she'd be lying if she said she didn't love the fact that it gave an extra reason to love on Auston a ridiculous amount. Sure, she did that every day, but to be fair, she loved how the title of Valentine's Day added a bit more fun and excitement to something she'd normally do any other day. It felt different for some reason, so even though she didn't love the so-called holiday, she still tried to plan something special for it every year.

Admittedly, she and Auston almost got competitive about it with trying to one-up the other with affection. They didn't care about gifts. They cared about the time they spent together and the thoughtfulness behind it.

Usually, it was Y/N that came up with something ridiculously sweet for Valentine's Day to do for Auston. However, this year, he had her beat.

For some odd reason, Y/N woke up very early that day. Maybe it was the baby waking her, or perhaps it was her internal clock saying sleep was no longer necessary. But, regardless, she was awake much earlier than usual. She also knew Mia wasn't awake or else she would've heard her, so she took that time to lie back in bed and relax for a few minutes on her own.

The bed felt incredibly empty, given that Auston was with the Leafs in Washington and wasn't expected to be back in Toronto until late that night. Frank was a good cuddle buddy alternative, but sometimes the Goldendoodle just wasn't enough when Y/N was missing her man. Of course, this was one of the days when she missed him a lot, so she took that as an excuse to text Auston and at least get this so-called holiday kicked off.

Y/N Happy Valentine's Day, Aus 🥰 can't wait to see you tonight

She wasn't expecting him to message back right away, seeing as it was only 7:30 in the morning, but much to her surprise, he did.

Auston Happy Valentine's Day, babe 💕 Can't wait to see you either. Did the flowers for Mia get delivered?

Y/N Yes, they got here last night. They're beautiful. I set them on the kitchen counter, so once she's awake and we go downstairs, she'll see her little V-Day gift from you

Auston Perfect. I got part of your Valentine's thing with me right now too. Ready for it?

She stared at her phone screen for a moment, expecting it to light up with the notification of an incoming FaceTime call from her husband or a picture, but instead, he sent her a link. But not just any link, it was the link to the video recording of a new Spittin' Chiclets podcast episode that was over an hour-long called 'Love Day: Part One.'

Confused, but also insanely curious, Y/N then leaned over to grab her laptop from the bedside table and got into the most comfortable position her growing baby bump would allow so she could watch the video like that. As soon as she was about to press play, her phone buzzed with another text.

Auston This was filmed a couple of weeks ago when the Chiclets guys were in Toronto. They interviewed at least 10 different guys in the league at different times, and they're kind of long, which is why there's more than one part. Just watch the intro, then I'm the first interview. Mitch is on part 2 if you want to watch that as well, but yeah... call me when you're done 💕

Still unsure of how to process what was going on, Y/N just shook her head and followed the link.

The video started with Biz, Whit and Rear sat all-around a table, each wearing a different red, white or pink shirt with heart-shaped balloons positioned behind them. Empty bottles of Pink Whitney sat on the table, acting as vases for bouquets of roses, making Y/N roll her eyes and chuckle at how far these guys would go for good product placement. But, she kept watching, and unsurprisingly, Biz was the first to speak.

Biz: "For Valentines Day this year, we wanted to do something different. Something more soft. So, we're going to tell, well, I guess, show some love stories."

Whit: "Bet you all didn't know that some of the greatest love stories to ever be told have happened to some of the guys that play in the NHL. Don't believe me? Guess you'll have to listen to find out what they are."

Rear: "We asked some players to come in and talk to us about their relationship stories and give as many details as they were willing to give. And let me tell you, they were great. To start us off, we have Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs telling us his fairytale romance."

The video then clipped to a shot of Biz sitting next to Auston in what Y/N assumed was the hotel downtown that the Chiclets guys were staying at. Auston wasn't dressed extravagantly or anything, just wore a grey hoodie, black pants, and his signature Raiders snapback.

Y/N immediately recognized his outfit. She remembered Auston coming home in those same clothes early one afternoon after he did some running around downtown with Mia, and started thinking of how not once did he mention doing anything for the podcast. He kept this very on the down low, and Y/N was excited to see how it would all play out.

Biz: "Alright, with us today, we have none other than the Leafs number 34, Auston Matthews. Welcome back to the show, Auston. How ya doin?"

Auston: "I'm great. Thanks for having me. How are you guys?"

Whit and Rear: "Good."

Biz: "Great, real good. Now, Auston, you know what you're here to talk about, right?"

Auston: (chuckling) "You're acting like you didn't spend the last week blowing up my phone until I agreed to do this."

Biz: "Amazing! You do know. So, here's how it's all going to go down. We've got a list of questions about your relationship with your significant other. Your obvious better half. And are going to take turns asking them so the people listening at home can get a bit of insight on your, and I quote, iconic love story. Why don't you give us a little summary of your relationship before we dive in?"

Auston: (hesitantly) "Sure, okay. So, my wife Y/N and I have been married for almost two years now. Our anniversary is at the end of July. She accidentally forgot it last year, which I haven't let her live down. Y/N, babe, this is your six month in advance warning that our anniversary is indeed coming up again this year… She's going to hate that I mentioned that. We, uh, we've been together since my first season in Toronto, so for a pretty long time now, and it's been amazing. We have a daughter, Amelia, but everyone just calls her Mia unless she's in trouble. She just turned two on January 25th, and we have our second baby on the way. They're due to be making their grand appearance in late June. We also have our firstborn, Frank, the Goldendoodle. Can't forget about him. But, yeah, that's my little family."

Whit: (nodding along with Biz and Rear) "Fair enough. Now, how and when did you and Y/N meet exactly?"

Auston: "We met on the night of my first NHL game back in 2016. She was at that game."

Biz: "Oh, yeah? Was she there for a reason?"

Auston gave him an unimpressed look.

Biz: "What?"

Auston: "You know why she was there!"

Biz: (shrugging) "Our listeners don't. C'mon, refresh my memory. Was she there to cheer someone else on?"

Auston: (shaking his head) "Yeah. She, uh, she's a cousin of one of my teammates, so she was there with their family to watch him during our first game."

Biz: (grinning widely) "What teammate?"

Auston: "The one out in the hallway keeping my daughter occupied while you keep being annoying and asking me questions you already know the answer to."

Everyone laughed at that, including Y/N, as she shifted onto her side, being mindful of her growing bump that seemingly became more noticeable each day, and got comfortable as she braced herself for what the rest of this interview would entail.

Biz: (still laughing): "Just to clarify for everyone who still doesn't know, he's talking about Mitch Marner."

Auston: "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up."

Rear: "I take it that Mitch and Mia get along really well? I haven't heard a peep from her since you came in here."

Auston: "Oh, she loves him. Yeah, that's her Mitchy, alright. Him and Steph, who you will hear all about once Mitch comes in here, are Mia's godparents and some of her favourite people."

Whit: "That's awesome. And how was that at first, though, being romantically involved with one of your teammates' family members? Sounds like grounds for some chaos, if I'm honest."

Auston: "It sure made meeting the family a bit more nerve-wracking. I'm just kidding. No, it was fine. It was definitely a little awkward at first trying to figure out how I was going to tell Mitch that I wanted to date his cousin. Like, he and Y/N are very close. Always have been. And the last thing both me and Y/N wanted was for Mitch to be uncomfortable. He did handle it really well, though. It's because of him I was even able to get to know her in the first place, which I'll never be able to thank him enough for."

Rear: "Now, you're a pretty private guy. You post the odd picture of your little family from time to time. Y/N is rather private, as well. So, really, no one knows your guys' story other than those who have lived it with you or watched it unfold. I'm sure many people will jump right on the chance to listen to this, seeing as you and Y/N are one of the most beloved couples in the NHL. But, what exactly made you want to come on here, give a bit of insight into your private life, and talk about it all?"

Auston: "Well, for one, Biz would not stop asking me to do it. Literally kept calling and texting me for days until I finally agreed."

Whit: "Shocker."

Biz: "Hey, now."

Auston: (chuckling) "That and also I figured, why not. I love my wife, and I love our little story. It's nice to think back on everything that's happened and see how it all got us to where we are now. With all the ups and the downs, its uh, it's been an amazing ride for sure, and I wouldn't change it for a thing. Also, it's for Valentine's Day. I haven't told her I'm doing this, so when you guys drop the episode, I'm just going to send it to her without much context."

Whit: "Do you think she'll cry?"

Auston: "Absolutely. I know this kind of thing would make her tear up regularly, but those pregnancy hormones have got her bad. Without a doubt, she's going to call me crying once she's done watching this."

Y/N scoffed as he said that and grabbed some tissues to wipe away the waterworks she already felt coming on.

Biz: "I've met Y/N many times now. The first time being back in what, 2018?"

The screen then showed an old picture of Biz sitting in a restaurant with his arm wrapped around Y/N's shoulders, both smiling widely as they held up their drinks, with Auston seemingly moping off to the side a little bit. Y/N chuckled at the image, instantly thinking back to the day she first met Paul Bissonnette and how wild it was before the photo faded away and showed the guys again.

Biz: "Yeah, it was when she was in Scottsdale visiting you during the summer. Great girl, completely out of Auston's league."

Auston: "Hey!"

Biz: "I'll never forget you sassing her when she commented on how hot Arizona was, with her being Canadian and all, but damn she was fast putting you in your place by calling you a, what was it?"

Auston: (grumbling) "Desert Boy."

Everyone burst out laughing again, except Auston, who just rolled his eyes and sighed dramatically.

Auston: "Whatever. She sasses me all the time when I complain about the snow, but the one time I do it back, I get called a Desert Boy and can never live it down."

Biz: (still laughing) "Ugh, amazing. Okay, moving on because we don't have much time and can probably fit in like two more questions. So, Auston, tell us how you knew that Y/N was the end game for you. How did you know that she was the one?"

Auston: "Oh, man. I don't even know how to explain it. Growing up, you see all these movies and shows, or read books where people always find someone who is their soulmate. Their perfect match. And I never knew what the feeling of finding that person was because I had never experienced it. My mom would tell me that when I did find that person, I'd know. That it'll be such an intense feeling, and to be honest, I didn't believe her. Until I met Y/N, I know that sounds cheesy, but it's true. The first time I met her, something drew me in, and I knew I wanted to get to know her better right away. Mitch spoke so highly of her, so did the other guys on the team that had already met her and over the first couple of months of us knowing each other, I saw what they meant. She quickly became one of my best friends ever. When we started dating, I saw more of how good a person she is, which attracted me even more. She is so selfless and caring for everyone around her; it truly blows my mind. I had never seen my family welcome a girl I introduced them to as quickly as they did her, and I trust their judgment the most. But even if they didn't do that, I know they would have accepted her regardless because, honestly, I probably seemed like a lovesick idiot. I still do. Y/N became this significant light in my life that I knew I wanted to be there forever. I began thinking about what it'd be like spending the rest of my life with her. Then it became something that I knew I needed. I can't imagine my life without her, and I never want to. She makes me so happy and has given me more than I could ever thank her for. I'll never understand how I, of all people, was the one to capture her massive heart, but I do know how lucky I am."

As he spoke, the screen showed a little picture slideshow of Y/N and Auston over the years of their relationship. It started with one that Ema took the first time Y/N had ever gone to Scottsdale. Y/N was sitting on the edge of a pool, and her legs dipped into the water. Auston stood between them as he wrapped his arms around her middle and leaned against her while looking over at where Ema stood taking the picture. The next one was from a Christmas party where the two were under a mistletoe as Auston leaned Y/N back and was kissing her cheek as she laughed and held onto him for dear life. There was a picture of them with Auston's family, one of them with Mitch and Steph, and another of Auston with his arms around Nate and Mya, Y/N's younger brother and sister, as the three smiled at the camera and Y/N was in the background looking confused.

The last few pictures were a bit more recent. They showed Y/N holding Frank as a puppy, a maternity photo of her and Auston posing when she was pregnant with Mia, and one of them on their wedding day with Mia and the rest of the gang. Then, the slideshow concluded with a very recent picture of them taken just a couple of weeks prior at Mia's birthday party, where Auston has his arms wrapped around Y/N from the back, showcasing her growing belly. At the same time, she leaned against him and glanced over her shoulder at him lovingly. The photos then went away and showed the guys again as Auston finished speaking.

Auston was right. Y/N was full-on bawling by that point.

All the guys were smiling as Auston finished saying his thing, but were soon interrupted by a knocking noise followed by a door opening.

Mitch: (offscreen) "Wait, no! Don't let her in!"

Mia: (also offscreen) "Daddy!"

Mia then came into the frame as she ran towards Auston, not caring about what was going on or who was there. Auston was quick reacting as he smiled widely and scooped Mia right up into his arms, making sure to place multiple kisses on her cheek as she giggled and squirmed in his hold, while Mitch became visible too and shrugged.

Auston: "Hi, mini. I missed you. Did you have fun with Mitchy?"

Mia: "Yeah! Where's mommy, daddy?"

Auston: "She's at home, baby girl. I'm almost done, then we can go get a Timbit while we wait for Mitch to be done. Sounds good?"

Mia: (knuckling at her eyes, tiredly) "Mhmm."

Rear: "This is adorable."

Biz: "Hi, Mia."

Mia: (shyly while hiding against Auston's chest a bit) "Hi, Biz."

Whit: (laughing) "Okay, I think we've kept you long enough now, Auston. Is there anything else you and Mia would like to say to Y/N?"

Auston: "Yes. Happy Valentine's Day, babe. I love you so much, and I'm sorry I'm not there right now. You're going to hear a lot more from me on actual Valentine's Day, but for right now, I think that's just about it. Mia, can you blow a kiss to the camera so mommy can see it and say 'happy Love Day!'"

Mia: (blows the kiss) "Happy Love Day, mommy!"

Auston: "Can you tell her that you love her?"

Mia: "Love you!"

Auston and Mia then waved to the camera and said bye as the clip faded out, and a new interview of another NHLer began playing.

Y/N's heart felt so full. She couldn't stop crying over how much she loved her family and how badly she needed to hear something like that. Life had been particularly hard on her as of late and seemed to keep throwing her curveballs, but this, this was exactly what she needed. To be reminded of how loved she is and that she genuinely is never alone.

She then grabbed her phone to call Auston and remind him of how much she loved him, that day and every day. The two talked for a few minutes before Y/N was pretty sure she could hear Mia waking up. After saying their goodbyes, Y/N found herself thinking about how, regardless of how she feels about the actual day, this was a Valentine's Day she will never forget.
