MORNING AFTER PROMPTS || OPEN

Perfumed steam hung heavy in the bathroom where the couple laying languidly together in the large stone bath tub. Candle light illuminated the darkness, the hushed fire lit glow was almost dim in comparison to their afterglow.

Ambrosine's back laid flush against Khan's chest, her head resting against his broad shoulder as she felt every ache and pain melt away from the depths of her bones and beyond. Her sigh felt like it came deeper than those aches as it passed full, plush lips that were stretched into a relaxed smile. Her eyes flicked up to meet his face, and she felt that it was her love for him that was making her melt, not the heat from the bath water.

With great care, Ambrosine shifted herself onto her knees, then turned to face him, now straddling his lap. Her marble skin blushed and glistened, perfumed water pearling and rolling off curves of sculpted musculature like dew collected on the pale rose petals on an early spring morning. Tenderly, she cupped his face in her hands, feeling that passionate pang that pulled on her heart strings. He was so handsome it hurt, made her want to cry at times.

"I love you.." she hummed into a kiss that was just as tender as her declaration of her love, arms now wrapping around his shoulders. "By God, I love you, Khan."

Danny does that- just well, with the Zone. It’s not like it can be mapped out, what with people moving their Lairs and more lairs and islands constantly manifesting. And well, there’s so many things out here, and it’s not like he can be an astronaut.

So, he decided to make exploration logs for the Zone instead, alongside his friends and a doppelganger or two holding equipment. It’s great, and people can donate whenever he live streams so he’s getting income too.

I just wanted to make a post showcasing some of my favorite illustrations by Keith Thompson for the Leviathan Trilogy.

The art went so hard in these books, it’s crazy. The plot is basically an alternate universe WW1 about the major two powers, the Darwinists, and the Clankers. The Darwinists genetically engineered animals to fight for them creating huge flying whale battleships, while the Clankers made huge robot mechs and powerful guns. A few historical people and places show up in these books, like Nikola Tesla.

But my favorite parts of the books were the art, truly breathtaking, it was beautifully grotesque at times. But that’s not unexpected, after all Keith Thompson helped create the design of Moder from The Ritual!

#To Shape A Dragon’s Breath #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #this is really really good i loved it!#the chapter titles are all like snippets of a story. or like sentence fragments that match up. which is cool #it is definitely more about being indigenous in a coloniser institution than Dragon School - not Super dragon heavy if you want that #I suspect the subsequent books will get into that when she gets big enough to ride and stuff #t’s also def YA! i’ve seen a few ppl assume it’s adult and be like its very young :( but like. I mean its perfectly reasonable for a 15yo m #definitely a Lot of racism and colonialism which is not fun to read! though it's still through a YA lens. there was def a part of me that #was imagining consequences of the narrative as if it were an adult novel #on that line of thought - at the end a lot of it is kind of solved by them going to the king and he's is like. oh no racism is happening?#that's bad i'll deal with those people! which felt like. a little simplistic. but maybe the easiest way to end the narrative for book 1 -#I don't think the author ACTUALLY is going to portray the king as a Good Guy throughout the series - it just felt conveniently like -#a simple YA solution to some very big and complex elements? if that makes sense? How would Cetus react to seeing a human baby?

Since his vision is very poor, he won't properly see the baby. But he'd sense the infant, hear and smell it. If he'd ever meet a baby, it'd be because a worker introduced him to theirs (not allowed btw). He wouldn't recongize the little babbling, blur as a human unless he sniffed them first. But most likely the worker would inform him before that. He'd still go for a sniff tho. xD

Then he'd struggle with the instinct to bring both parent and baby to his nest. Like they need to be kept safe ok.

If the baby starts crying then it's over. They're taken to the nest no matter how calmly or sternly anyone protests. And then it'd be tricky to get them back. :,D

Thinking ‘bout..

Husband!Leviathan being more nervous than you when you were giving birth to your first child than he passes out while being in the delivery room w you.. But once he woke up you were done pushing so he rushes to your side and tells you to rest for a while and then waits for you to be the one to wake up.. And as soon as you wake up, Levi is alrdy holding ur child :)).. As soon as he sees you wake up he gives u the baby then asks if u want anything, if you say yes then he’ll be zooming down to the hospital’s stores and buying almost everything in the store, but if you say no he’ll jst stay by your side w the baby in ur hands while he well.. tears up abit😭

Once the doctor comes to ask what the child’s name would be, Levi alrdy suggests a name that’s from a character in a game😃

DP X DC X Subnautica

Where the Justice League (mostly focusing on the Superfam or Batfam or Flashfam) are large leviathan-esque creatures living on Planet 4546B. Maybe they can change forms due to Precursor experimentation, maybe not. Those with young hang out around the shallows more than the others, what with most of them being large super or specialized predators.

Enter Danny Fenton, interning on the Aurora when the ship is shot down by the Quarantine Enforcement Platform. Oh sure he probably would have tried to stop the destruction and help, but his ghost powers are a bit on the fritz and a well-meaning worker pushes him into one of the last life pods seeing as he's a child.

Now the leviathans may not know what a ship is exactly, but they can definitely understand that in most cases things technology = precursors. As far as they understand, a metal deathtrap not unlike the old labs or caches fell alongside several metallic eggs, with the emerging hatchlings misshapen and not living long.

But then there's the egg that landed in the shallows, which at first they thought was empty. But a hatchling- much smaller than the previous ones- emerges, a day later than the rest, but they're alive even if their swimming is all wobbly! It's so tiny, and obviously hatched too early with the strange split tail and how it keeps swimming to the surface for air, and they have to protect it! Now if only the little hatchling would answer their calls and not dart into hiding spots whenever they approach...

Honestly this is up to the writer lol, but I like to think that Danny's ghost form, when he finally manages to achieve it again, goes a little naga-esque. Almost like a sea snake instead of just a whispy ghost tail, which while better for swimming doesn't help his freak out over most ghost powers still not working.

Danny is just trying to survive man, maybe find other survivors, turn off this big alien gun, stop creating frost crystals when he sneezes, the usual. He doesn't need giant humanoid-esque leviathan-sized sea creatures poking around!

Leviathan and Behemoth as dinosaurs

So we know that a lot of Young Earth Creationists interpret Leviathan and Behemoth in the Book of Job as descriptions of dinosaurs or large marine reptiles. While science tells us that those creatures are extinct, YE creationists interpret their inclusion in the bible as proof that humans coexisted with them and conclude that earth must be younger than science tells us.

There's a lot of problems with interpreting those creatures as saurians, but let's suppose that they are. Let's imagine that Behemoth is a Sauropod or a Ceratopsian or something like that, and that Leviathan is a Mosasaur or something similar.

Both creatures are mentioned in Job 40:15 - 41:26. Everything from Job 40:7 through 41:26 (and some other parts in the last chapters of Job) is God speaking to Job about things that are far out of Jobs or any humans reach, things only God can comprehend or control, in order to establish how much more powerful He is compared to a mere human.

And this is where YE creationists arguments for human/dinosaur coexistence and a young earth fall apart. God specifically says, regarding Behemoth, in Job 40:19: “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword!"

Most versions interpret "first" as "most powerful", but I've also seen translations that interpret it as God's first creation, i.e. something pretty old.

And even if that is not true, everything God says about Behemoth and Leviathan is very far removed from human reality, something only God could know. You know, like the dinosaurs, which lived 250 - 65 million years before any human and which would only be discovered as fossils thousands of years after Job's time (regardless of a scientific or YE timeline).

If God created the world and is omniscient, it's not a stretch of the imagination to say that he would know about dinosaurs even if they have been extinct for millions of years, because he made them and he was there when they existed. God talking about dinosaurs as something that Job as a mere human couldn't mess with is by no means proof that dinosaurs coexisted with humans. If anything, it's proof that Leviathan and Behemoth, whatever they may be, are far removed from a humans reality in the present day.
