I love animals that are, like, the opposite of cryptids: we know for a fact they exist and have a clear idea of what they look like because we have photographs and individual specimens, but we haven’t the faintest idea where they’re coming from - they just keep showing up out of nowhere, and the locations of their actual population centres are a complete mystery.

Content Warning: religion and transphobia⚠️
Happy Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ I made a comic reflecting on my church upbringing as an eXvangelical trans person. The Jesus conservative Christians claim to represent looked lot more like many of the LGBTQ+ friends I know and love. Just some food for thought 💖

hyena positivity that focuses on spotted hyenas only is so fake. if you don’t love brown and striped hyenas then get out. if you don’t love aardwolves I can’t even look at you oh my god

The genus Silurian ("Person of the Silures", in reference to the historical territory of Wales in which they were first found) was initially known only from a single fossil, notable in part for the unusual object fossilized alongside it (1). Though this was generally accepted to simply be a large petrified stick, the "Silurian Artifact" was often a point of discussion in the topic of dinosaur intelligence and the theory of pre-human civilizations. It wasn't until large-scale mining operations began to impede on their extensive networks of stasis chambers that the Silurians themselves finally woke up and were able to meet humankind in person. To the surprise of many (and dismay of a few) the Silurians were not the scaled, humanoid "dinosauroids" so often depicted, but colorful, feathered, and relatively goose-shaped. Most Silurians who were present in the planet's underground represent the gentry and high ranking military, who were given priority in the earth-based shelters. Most others were evacuated on large, extensive spaceships, all of which are yet to return to Earth. Due to this, the varied mindsets and cultures of the Silurians are in shambles at best, largely replaced by the speciesism and real estate concerns of the upper classes. (1) Much later, the original type fossil was identified as Rohlik, a student who fell to his death after attempting to drunkenly pole vault over a ravine with a large petrified stick.

Brother Gregor never spoke and often spooked the neophytes with his appearance, but he was a gentle soul and a phenomenal cook and knew more ways to prepare a fish than the abbot knew hymns

You, a heroic paladin have successfully slain a fearsome dragon. But the dragon warns you that death is but a door, and dragons don’t die, they reincarnate. You paid it no mind….until your son was born with golden, slitted eyes.

The current state of pop girlies is so funny like
Ariana Grande: getting dragged for homewrecking with the guy who played SpongeBob in the SpongeBob musical
Taylor Swift: dropping her worst album in years about how deeply obsessed she is with Matty Healy
Billie Eilish, for some reason:

I'll definitely listen to this. I know a lot of informative but fun podcast about the bible, but I'd love to also learn about the Quran and Islamic theology, does anybody know good podcasts who talk about stuff like this in a respectful but not fundamentalist way?
I’m in love with the podcast Data Over Dogma where a biblical scholar and a comedian (both named Dan) educate the listeners on the Bible and Christianity (and occasionally related religions) in a way I love.
They explain what the original texts actually said and how they were translated in different bibles and how different versions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam interpret the stories and commands and we get explanations for little known facts like one story seems to confirm the existence of another god who beat the god of the Bible because Bible God was on their land and the other god got a power-up from a blood sacrifice. And which Ten Commandments are people talking about and what did they mean when they were written down? And does God being a jealous god insinuate that there are other gods who aren’t jealous? Can God lie and change his mind in the Bible? Was Jonah being a little piss baby?
I highly recommend the podcast if you’re interested in religion from a scholarly standpoint. Scholar Dan is a believing Christian so he takes it seriously while also being able to joke around and take the text with a grain of salt and they have guests on who talk about the Bible from different viewpoints like disability, lgbtq, non-white, Jewish, feminist and so on.
