Burrow's End is an absolute masterpiece.
In the span of ten episodes Aabria and Co. weave an exciting and emotional adventure story about a family of sentient stoats. It delivers huge laughs, interesting societal criticism, remarkably emotional and well-acted scenes and concludes with a series of epilogue scenes that feel appropriate for each character, some heartfelt and subdued and others bigger than life and all the funnier for it.
Siobhan and Izzy play the perfect pair of siblings. They fight and argue but they also love each other. Jaysohn (Siobhan) looks up to Lila (Izzy) and believes she's the smartest stoat in the world (and by the end she probably is) and Lila hypes up her little brother's athletic skills. They both fully embodied these kids and I could watch them do fun stuff for more episodes. Give me a version of Saved by the Bell with them. Stoat by the Bell.
Brennan and Rashawn, playing sisters, also knock it outta the park, showing a more mature sibling dynamic. Brennan portrays Tula as the quintessential overtired single mother of excitable kids, and Rashawn as younger sister Viola straddles a very interesting line of being intimidating to outsiders but very much more naive and looking to her older sister when she starts a family.
Jasper as Thorn, a guy everyone just lets be a cult leader because he really wanted to, is fantastic. His is a difficult role as the only non-blood relative. Jasper plays Thorn with such real humanity of a guy in over his head and letting his ambition wife call the shots, but also one who agrees with her goal, really loves her and has moments of real menace. He has some very funny scenes, his big speech is perfect, and I just enjoy him.
Erika is wonderful. They play the epitome of generational trauma as many have said but as much trauma as Ava has, she is also loving and willing to learn. The fact Erika took this adversarial role is incredible. The tense dramatic scene primarily between Ava, Tula and Viola is amazing. They act their asses off and make hard choices that I imagine are difficult even for such an experienced player.
Aabria's DMing always feels fun. She doesn't get bogged down in the rules. She knows them. She plays by them. But as a master, she knows how and when to break them too. Her seasons on Dimension 20 have all had a tenseness, a particular edge to them that can give me anxiety during dramatic scenes between two characters. It always feel like one of her NPCs may say something devastating and the tension between characters reaches really thrilling heights. This is present in other seasons, but I don't think anyone does it as well as she does. The first season of hers to have battle maps, Aabria really swung for the fences and gave us some of the wildest maps to date.
Shout out to Carlos Luna's voice acting. He did an incredible job. And shout out to the whole crew who have put together one of the best seasons of D20. They keep finding ways to build on what's come before and they should be commended for it.
Dimension 20 is most successful when the concept is very streamlined. They don't do huge 100 episode campaigns capable of handling huge winding complex narrative, but short focused D&D stories, which is why many of the Side Quests have been so fantastic. They embody this philosophy most clearly, but it's apparent in the most beloved Intrepid Heroes seasons as well—John Hughes/High Fantasy, Game of Thrones/Candyland, Retrofuturism, Film Noir but in a Brain... Burrow's End fits this perfectly. It's streamlined concept paired with great storytellers and great chemistry sets it up to be a smash hit before it begins. And goddamn does it deliver.
Thanks Stupendous Stoats!

Expanding on that post I made of Noir adopting Hobie but I love the idea of that making Peni and Hobie adopted siblings. Soooo general headcanons and thoughts time! (Inspired by @ryderdire and @queercoded-disney-villain and the comments they left!)
This got a lot longer than expected so there is a lot more stuff under the read more!
I like to think that Peni and Hobie already knew each other beforehand but in passing. Hobie knew of her and occasionally they talked but he never really got to know her
Of course that all changed when Gwen gathered her small team of Spider Folks to save Miles
After everything goes down and they have time to actually hangout, Hobie tries to get to know her at first. He thought her mech was pretty sick. She mostly avoided him though. He didn’t exactly know why but didn’t care. He assumed it was cause her and Miles weren’t on the best of terms anymore. And while her, Noir, and Ham were still close, there was some tension between them. Especially since she sided with Miguel (at first).
When Noir adopted him (that’s an entirely different story to tell later), he was sorta shocked that Peni was Noir’s adopted daughter. He thought the two weren’t on great terms. Noir explained that despite what she did he still loved her. Fathers are supposed to love their children no matter what right?
Of course since Peni was Noir’s daughter, that meant they had to be around each other more often than not. It was…very tense at first to say the least. Noir usually hung out with Ham (he wasn’t allowed to stay with Peter B after Mayday was born) so it was an awkward experience having serious conversations in a cartoony world.
Eventually, Hobie cracked what was eating at Peni. Despite her being more closed off (which everyone who knew her said was odd) Hobie somehow managed to break through her walls. Jokes and his general demeanor slowly eased her.
In general, Hobie and Peni are a force to be reckoned with. With him being more reckless in his fighting style and Peni being more coordinated, enemies are afraid of even getting near them. Especially cause of SP//dr.
If anyone dare lay a hand on Peni, Hobie would be sending an electric guitar through their head with no hesitation. That’s his sister goddamn it.
Hobie does like to paint his nails and allows Peni to do his sometimes. He’ll do Peni’s for her too but they end up more messy than what she can do. They’re still passable though as he’s done Gwen’s before a few times.
As they get more comfortable around each other, Hobie absolutely will tease the hell out of Peni. She isn’t good at teasing him as he just doesn’t give a shit but does eventually finds some fuel.
Like Noir, Hobie will carry around Peni on his back if asked.
Secretly, he taught Peni some curse words so when she said fuck around Ham, he was immediately on his tail. Hobie doesn’t regret it though. He thought it was hilarious.
Hobie will carry Peni under his arm like a sack of potatoes when she’s not in her mech occasionally. He’ll be just hanging out with someone and have her under his arm.
Peni will fall asleep if held for too long. She just finds it relaxing. Hobie finds it amusing.
Hobie has taken Peni to his world and has let her join in on his rioting. She actually ended up being more of an anarchist than Hobie. He was THRILLED about it.
She was even given yellow shoelaces by Hobie and goddamn Noir was proud as hell
Speaking of Noir, he does also have blue shoelaces but keeps them around his belt. He doesn’t want to make them dirty or destroy them by accident. Hobie is secretly very happy Noir accepted them and wears them.
The two siblings will argue about their world’s food. Hobie says that his cuisine is unique and good but Peni just tells him that he’s clearly never had Japanese cuisine. They will always argue about this.
Occasionally they’ll go to Noir and ask him. He’s literally only had 1930s food so he thinks everything is amazing. Everything except beans on toast. Telling Hobie he’s had this in his world before as a cheap meal.
Hobie will play his guitar for Peni and has learned songs that she likes. Even if they aren’t from his era. It gives him a chance to learn more stuff and make Peni happy.
He refuses to play anything that he considers too slow though. He’d rather rock out than play a slow waltz.
Peni will sneak into Hobie’s world and replace his alarm clocks with indestructible ones. He HATES when she does this.
Once when Hobie got burnt slightly by a rouge molotov, Peni ended up making him a sorta protective bandage that was fire proof to wear under his suit. He ends up using it both for him and anyone who is with him. Peni was extremely happy to help.
Speaking of riots, Peni once got pushed over and nearly shot by a cop but Hobie DID NOT let anything else happen to her. Let’s say his guitar needed an extremely good wash afterwards. Brains aren’t easy to get out of guitars. Ham was horrified but Peni kept telling him she’s seen worse. That didn’t help.
Peni and Gwen do have girl days which means Hobie isn’t allowed. Despite trusting Gwen with his life, he will tell her to bring back Peni unharmed or something will happen. Gwen knows he’s serious about that.
Peni loves to tease Hobie about his romantic relationship with Miles and Pavitr which surprisingly makes him flustered. No one knows how she does it but she does.
(I’ll explain their romantic relationship in more detail later but Hobie is dating Miles and Pavitr while Gwen is dating just Miles. Pavitr is still dating his girlfriend while dating both Hobie and Miles. Gwen was never romantically attracted to the others except Miles.)
Hobie will get dragged along to the mall by Peni. It’s a hilarious sight. Just this punk dude with his younger, more preppy sister.
Since Hobie can purr like most Spider Folks (silly headcanon of mine), he does it a lot around Peni. She can’t purr but enjoys hearing Hobie purr. It’s comforting.
Hobie will hold Peni’s hand if she asks and isn’t ashamed of it. He’s a big brother goddamn it, he will act like one.
He did teach her a bit of guitar too. He even gifted her one. It was a not so great one but Peni treasures it. It has a bunch of stickers on it.
When Peni cries over her past, Hobie is very commonly the one that is immediately there to comfort her. Purring nonstop and giving her words of comfort. He knows what it’s like to have no one to cry to and no comfort.
Hobie doesn’t cry much but when he does, which is rare, Peni is always nearby. She doesn’t even hesitate. Hugging him as hard and close as she can. He appreciates it.
Peter B likes to call them Peni and Hobs (like Calvin and Hobbes)
Hobie wears some pins on his jacket that Peni gave him. They’re mostly just similar to the normal ones he already wears but some are cutesy. He will not take them off even if he’s made fun of.
They rarely stay over at Noir’s place (he lives with Ham) but when they do, they’ll share the guest room. It’s always chaos.
Ham has gotten more than one noise complaint from his neighbors about loud guitars playing at night. He loves them both but god they give him a headache.
If Hobie wasn’t held back by anyone when he met Miguel again after becoming Peni’s brother, he would have already bashed Miguel into oblivion. He was NOT pleased about him manipulating Peni.

Five Hargreeves x reader
Tag: @thirteen2003fan & @instabull
Warnings: talking about death, sad Five.
Tumblr media
Five looked at Diego and Lila trying to find their “son” Stanley. Five rolled his eyes and sighed knowing the kid he probably got kugelblitz.
He turned his head a bit and grumbled, “Can you believe it Y/N they lost the kid they adopt all because they are sentient STDs.” He then actually looked at his side and saw no one. It’s been a habit lately that he talks to himself thinking his wife was just going to be there. He decided to ignore them for a bit and saw Luther and Sloane. They wanted them to join them at the Sparrow academy.
While walking to the academy he thought about everything he went the past 20 days and more. First, he landed in the courtyard of his house, back to his 20-year-old body. Then he tried to save that apocalypse from his brother, which made him take his family back in time to save them, he landed in the ’60s and tried to save his family from that apocalypse. Took them to the right time but not the right timeline and now he has a stupid kugelblitz to handle yet again. Can’t even get a break right Y/N?
He remembers finding a Polaroid camera during your little search in the apocalypse and taking a picture with you. He remembers your smile and the giggles you will let out when he will say something about his calculations that you knew you weren’t able to understand. It made him want to cry remembering you. He zones back when they got to the academy and Fei opens the door for them.
“Lovely to meet you.” Lila introduces herself to Fei.
“Welcome.” Fei returns to gesture, “make yourselves at home.” She tells the academy people.
Allison who was already in a bad mood, “bitch this is our home.” And sat down.
Five decided to ignore them for now and listen to what Diego noticed. “Where the hell is Viktor and Klaus?”
Five chuckled, “With our luck, probably kugelblitzed by now.”
Diego looked at him weirdly. “You’re a dark little dude sometimes.”
Five listened to Diego and Ben argue like little children and sighed. Jesus, why can’t they just get to the point? “Okay, if the testosterone twins are done, I’d like to get back to a plan.”
Viktor then jogged into the room looking around. He looked like he was about to be in tears.
“Where is he?” He asked looking at the Sparrow academy and then at Allison. Five also looked at them not knowing who they were talking about but having a clue who. Five zoned them out a bit, but Ben brought him back.
“20 bucks on the little one,” Ben whispered to Five while eating cheese puffs. Five looked at him and thought about it.
“I’ll take that action.” Five leaned to Ben to whisper to him, not wanting to get in the middle of his sibling's fight.
‘You shouldn’t be betting on your own siblings Miele that’s just mean coming from you.’ He can already know what would be his wife’s words if she was here.
“This wasn’t about saving the world. This was about hurting me. Payback for - -“ Viktor started, making Five stop thinking about his wife and listening to Viktor and Allison argue.
“Go on. Say her name.” Allison went on looking intimidating and looking down at Viktor. Five got tired of it and stood up.
“That’s it Allison we get it you’re hurt you lost your daughter, but everyone lost someone, not just you, you can’t just say this shit to Viktor, you killed someone important to him.” Five exclaimed back at Allison and everyone started looking at him. Five was pissed everyone lost someone, Luther lost Pogo in a way, Diego lost his mother, Klaus lost our Ben and Dave, and Viktor lost Sissy and now Harlan. Allison turned to him.
“You haven’t lost anyone Five you were stuck in the apocalypse and you were gone for years so how the hell can you say you lost someone!” She screamed at him while holding back tears. Five gave a painful laugh and looked at his sister with so much pain.
“You think I didn’t lose someone too?! I lost my own wife! My happiness I lost her to the stupid apocalypse that I so badly wanted to save all of you guys because those were her last words to me! To save my family! I lost the one person that kept me sane all those years from an illness that we both couldn’t do anything because guess what Allison!?” Five yelled while looking at her, “There was no medicine! No cure! No hospital! I saw the love of my life die in my arms! So to answer your stupid question sister yes I did lose someone are you happy now?!” Five finished and had to take deep breaths.
The whole family looked at him lost for words, not knowing what to tell their young but older brother from the news that he told them. Five sighed and started sniffling feeling the weight of guilt for his wife drowning him. “I lost the only person that I cared about, and I couldn’t do anything to keep her alive with me. I miss her. I miss my Y/N.” Five wept softly. Diego sighed and grabbed his brother and hugged him.
Five felt rigid not having felt a hug since the last one you gave him. He slowly stop tensing and hugged his brother back and cried. Five broke down his walls and held on to Diego for support.
“I miss her Diego and I can’t do anything to bring her back.”

AtB+bi!Luche AU: I'd love to see how Luche's life would be - different and similar in one with a group of tight-knit siblings who openly care for her.
Luche knows she has siblings. She knows this.
She never plans to meet them, to let them know she is their sister. Luche has no time to stray from the path in front of her - she has no time to consider what could be if they put all their magic and might together. Luche can't leave the future of their world to a flimsy chance that they might be able to change things.
Besides Luche is destined to die a traitor. There is no place for her in the family they will make.
Ace - being the contrary shit he is - seems determined to prove her wrong. He is wary of her at first, as if he knows of who she will be - about who she should become - but then he sees ice swallow a daemon whole and Luche's magic scattering in the air like snow and something like wonder fills his eyes as Ace's own magic - light and bright and horrible - thunders through the air and shatters the ice statues to pieces.
Ace turns to Luche and he laughs. When asked why Ace's grin is blinding.
"I can work with this." That's all he says before telling Luche about their siblings as they head back to the port.
Looking back Luche is sure this is when the threads of fate began to twist and fray.
-
Thanatos and Ardor are-
Odd. They take one look at her and Luche feels like she's being judged. She is, but not for the reasons her clan judged her. No. Ardor and Thanatos think she's too skinny. They keep shoving food onto her plate from their own plates and Luche doesn't know how two decline politely.
Persephone saves her. Astrals bless her.
"I think our sister has had enough," Persephone says dryly, "At this rate the two of you will be flesh and bone and she'll be the healthiest of all of us."
"I don't think Thanatos can get skinnier," Ardor says with a raised brow.
"His elbows are deadly," Ace agrees as he finally settles down to eat after finishing cooking, "Bony bastard."
"Why are you guys always picking on me?" Thanatos whines and Luche feels a smile tug her lips.
It's a strange feeling.
Not an unwelcome one.
-
Thanatos likes picking at the tendrils of the Curse. He is determined to find a way to break it; or at least lessen it's impact. It's a shame, he had declared, that his darling dearest sister is unable to feel warmth.
Mercury had agreed and banned Luche from ever setting foot in Niflheim. It's too cold, Mercury had said, And you're already frozen. Best not risk it.
Luche doesn't know how to tell them that she doesn't mind the curse - that her clan doesn't either - they've all learned to live with it after all.
Luche had thought about telling them to leave it be but-
Jupiter had given her a look and Jules had been in the room.
They don't argue in front of Jules. Jules deserves better than that.
-
Shiva shouldn't be here. Shiva shouldn't be on this battlefield staring Luche down but she is. She is because Luche is stupid and the act of weaving her magic into the curse to strengthen both her magic and the curse might have saved her men - might have won her the day - but at what cost?
Her life. Her life is the cost. Her breath comes slower now and she can feel the frostbite settling on her skin, held at bay only by the way Tredd uses his blessing to fight the curse that seeps into Luche's bones.
Luche doesn't know what her siblings are doing but they're-
Close? Why are they so close?
Something breaks in the air around her and it's warmth that chases the chill away-
Luche faints.
(Her siblings hold a prophecy and a curse in their hands.
They break them both,)

RGU and the American Romanticism movement
“If it cannot break out of its shell, the chick will die without being born. We are the chick, the world is our egg. If we don't crack the world's shell, we will die without being born. Smash the world's shell, for the revolution of the world!” Is the speech given at the beginning of every single student council meeting in Revolutionary Girl Utena By Kunihiko Ikuhara is a surrealist shoujo anime from 1997. Now you may be wondering what an anime from 1997 has to do with the American Romanticism movement, but I argue by examining other romantic texts that Revolutionary Girl Utena would fit the ideals that formed the Romantic movement perfectly. The series is a deconstruction of fairytale tropes and analyzes how institutions are built to hurt and take advantage of through the lens of princes and princesses as well as through how the school setting shapes people to recreate and continue the ideals of the institution.
“Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a short story about the danger of laying all or your core beliefs onto one single thing will ultimately be your own undoing when this world view is contradicted. When Goodman Brown’s perception of everyone around him that has been built up by the image the church portrays is contradicted on his walk he is unable to cope and ultimately “his dying hour was an hour of gloom.” (Hawthorne). In Revolutionary Girl Utena the titular character has built her identity up through acting the role of a fairytale prince, and when some mishaps happen and she accidentally gets herself entangled within a dueling system where the winner becomes engaged to a girl named Anthy Himemiya who has this power to “revolutionize the world” she is at first very against this system, but once she learns that if she loses someone else who might not treat Anthy as kindly as her will be engaged if she drops out she decides she has no choice to continue and eventually she ties being the victor of these duels to her princely identity. Then in episode ten she loses and her sense of self is shattered, she stops dressing in her usual boys uniform and insteads ops wears the girls uniform and she is noticeably less confident and happy this way. She gets talked back into dueling to take Anthy back and succeeds, however this cements her sense of self as being tied to this institution from this point until near the end of the series.
The anime explores ideas of needing to accept one’s past with a heavy emphasis on death.  In the black rose arc Mikage is a young genius who is so fixated on his past that he attempts to gain the power to revolutionize the world to unlock a form of eternity built upon his memories. To achieve this eternal state of being he killed a hundred duelists in a fire. Through his duel the truth of his past is revealed and he disappears from the world as a whole, Mikage is also heavily implied to be a ghost throughout the anime. Even the titular character has a strong connection to death as both her parents died when she was little and she was so distraught that she hid within a coffin until a prince came and showed her something to fight for. The stanza “So live, That when thy summons come to join the innumerable cavern, (...) Thou go not, like the slave-quarry in the night,” “Thanotopsis” by William Cullen Bryant encapsulates this moment well as it shows the mindset Utena has to go through, she can’t just lay down and die she must fight for something to hope for her life to mean something. Speaking of what she is fighting for.
It is revealed in episode 33 of Revolutionary Girl Utena that the thing that Utena is fighting for and the reason she became a prince was to save Anthy who has been cursed to be stabbed by the hatred of all of humanity for eternity and prince Dios could not be her prince to save her due to them being siblings. Utena swears to be this prince to save her. However, Utena forgets the memory and gets caught up in the dueling game and although she is kind to Anthy and never does anything to hurt her, she also never notices any of the pain and suffering Anthy is enduring. This creates a wedge between them until they confront each other on the rooftop as Anthy tries to jump off, Utena stops her and they have a heart to heart about how they’ve both been hurting each other and they promise to continue to stay for each other and that they will get through this. Then in the final duel between Akio/Dios who represents exactly who the institution has been built for as well as the patriarchy, Anthy is overwhelmed because Akio is her brother and is the only person who has seen her suffering and despite him allowing and enforces the institution that allows her suffering to continue for the benefits of others he still swears he loves her, so she betrays Utena and literally stabs her in the back. “I aimed my Pebble---- but myself was the one that fell--- Was it Goliath---- Was too large--- Or was myself---- too small?” “I Took my Pebble in My Hand”  by Emily Dickinson exemplifies this moment as Utena falls to the floor.
However after Akio fails to utilize the power to revolutionize the world, because the system is already built for him and deep down he doesn’t desire for anything to change, Utena stumbles back to her feet and clambers over to the gate where the power to revolutionize the world is supposedly held and begins to beg and cry for someone to help Anthy. This is not built upon her desire to seem like a prince or show off; this is simply an act of concern for the girl she loves, and thus the gates open and inside is Anthy alone and afraid After finding Anthy, Utena vanishes from the world, but Anthy remarks that Utena is still out there and that she simply left the oppressive institution that Akio built. With the security of Utena’s unwavering love even after seeing all Anthy has gone through and everything she’s done, Anthy understands what true love is and finally is able to take that first step and leave behind the institution that confined her in search of Utena and also herself and who she can be without everyone else's expectations of her clouding it.

Name: shelby
Age: 17
Bio: shelby is a kind, sweet and shy girl who’s doing her best to just..live life. She has a magical pen that can allow her to do anything as long as she can draw it that was given to her from the heavens by her dead cousin on her 13th birthday. She also has two cursed forms her corrupted and glitched form. Her corrupted form is able to regenerate fly and shift her body in any way she wants, also making her appearance into a demonic wolf creature. Her glitched form can also regenerate and teleport by glitching, she can also bend her body however she wants, and her glitched appearance is like a humanoid glitchy spider. She has one last form which is a fluffy werewolf that comes out on the night of werewolf, one bit of advice, never get a gun with silver in it. However she can be very sensitive, thinking heavily of what other people think of her,she also can’t handle people yelling at her or arguing,as it will cause her to break down into tears,if she gets too upset she can turn into a frenzy more monstrous version of herself, however it wears off when shelby feels better, the reason this happens is cause of the fact she got her pen at a young age,as shelby grew, the magic of the pen made magic like developments in her body. Shelby Is also undyingly loyal to her newfound family and kitty children, often putting herself in harms or deaths way just to protect them. She’s trying to move on from the past but it can be hard when her PTSD,anxiety and depression get in her way and remind her of her past, but she tries her best and no longer has to fight alone.

However when Shelby moved away,Nala shifted to providing comfort for Shelby,as she was in a very poor emotional state, and she felt bad for not spending a lot of time with her. Pale Blood - Side Characters and More
@starbuds-and-rosedust suggested I add Den and Ron to my shared character notes.
Ask and You Shall Receive!
They're not quite as fleshed out as the "Heroes", but there's stuff in there that's useful anyhow.
I have notes for a few others too (whose roles will be given away by the title of the section they're in but meh), and I'll toss them in too.
So here are more character notes!
Their Friends
Ron (Lerone Mitael)
“I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, honey…but you’re at work.”
The ghoul that runs the bloodbank. He’s fine, most normal of the lot really. He’s perpetually in his 30s, as that is when his body died, but he’s actually much older. Unfortunately, thanks to a rather long stint of starving to madness—and being locked in a dark, dank hole for it—he’s not sure how much. Ron is 6' 1" with blue eyes, short curly black hair shaved on the sides and a perfectly trimmed goatee—there is a reason they are always in perfect order and never mussed, but he'd sooner die again than tell. He has a muscular build and will lie about using spray-on color, but he is absolutely darker skinned than a slum-bound dead guy should be. Odea has a picture of what he looked like when he was alive, that she nabbed from an old file, and it is clear that Ron has been trying to keep that appearance up. It’s just hard, what with death and the smog trying to pale him.
He doesn't leave the bloodbank, not because he can't but because it isn't safe—for a few reasons. Ghouls are illegal outside Upper Dolor. Because they degrade, mentally, and he's been hanging on through increased meals but stimulation causes stress and stress causes rage and if he is overstimulated he might frenzy. So he stays inside, where he can keep some control of himself and where the world outside can keep safe from him. He’s the first one to notice something is amiss, because Ron is an observant guy that spends too much time around lunatics. He is also the only one working at the bloodbank who is aware of the sub basement, and its freezer, where unclaimed dead are stored. For him. There’s a good reason Ron works for fangs and it’s not the money—though he’d argue Del is a close second to the food.
Den (Morden Drenkal)
“We may share blood and flesh, but we aren’t family.”
Den is 38 and, while fangs age slow, wolves age fast which makes him ancient to his pack—it’s more a cultural thing than a literal one, he was expected to start a subpack and attempt to take over more of the slums in the name of the wolfmother some twenty years prior, but Den does not ascribe to pack mentality, would prefer to mate for love and kids bother him. He’s roughly 5’9” —a fact his siblings mock as all of them break 6’—with fiery orange eyes, rich black hair that he keeps in a braid down his back, and a muscular physique—in a sinewy sort of way. He bares the distinct tanned skin and hairy everywhere of all Wolves—even in human form they are rather fuzzy. His arms, chest and legs are the furriest but there’s a well-trimmed path leading from belly button down that he takes great pride in. He’ll never speak of how often he lasers the hair off his face and back, or which older sister helps him do it, but most of his siblings mock him mercilessly for this act—save his youngest, who adores him and is the only kid he'll put up with.
Den is not looked at as much of a fighter, and has lost many battles with his younger brother, but he is faster than the average wolf—stronger than the halfie fang—and fights with a ferocity his mother once praised. He’s lost much of that fire, due to losing faith in his pack, but he is still a force to be reckoned with when pushed. He attacks teeth first when he attacks at all and has a grip stronger than all but his eldest sibling.
--this bit is what I wrote before he showed up in the manuscript, to explain his side of the 'how we met' scene--
He went to Luster to let off steam, to take some semblance of control in a life he felt was spinning out of it. That is where he saw him. He knew what he was when the light caught on an oversized fang, it poked out of lips that longed to pout and Den felt shame mingling with his lust—but he had a bit more of his mother in him than he would admit to. He’d not seen many fangs in Luster, not so soon after sunrise and never one that looked so warm and welcoming. Most went in for the wiry villainous look, all bluster and flash but no bite, no bulk, nothing to grip.
Den wanted those big arms around him, wanted to run his fingers through that mousy hair and cover those soft cheeks in kisses. He would play along with whatever tricks the fang pulled—as they always did—to lure him upstairs. To the beds that waited, for a reasonable fee, for those that came to worship at the feet of moaning Gods. But damn if that fang wasn’t comfy. Too comfy. He was sweet too, not in words but action…intent. Den didn’t want to let him be a one-time thing. He wanted to hold him, to know him, to learn why those beautiful hazel eyes were so dull and misted.
Frienemies
Bosch (Boschkori Nor Brume)
“I didn’t do it for you, where’s my blood?”
He’s an old fang, at around 96, give or take a…century—he’ll never tell—but he looks no more than 45. Current Boss of the slums with aspirations of joining the ivory boys in Upper Dolor. He’s a pitbull of a man-thing, short and stocky at about 5’2” but all muscle with smog-pale skin, a shiny bald head and fierce golden eyes. He’s gruff in attitude but impeccable in appearance. Pocket-size mobster with a fetish for ghosts and ghoulies that he’s pretty sensitive about discussing.
He’s an outright dick to Delmas about 90% of the time, like most of the fangs, but actually has a lot of respect for his hustle and has been working toward getting him to take over for him some day—he’d never tell him that though, too much bad blood lingering from when his dad was in charge. As much as Delmas hates being his bitch, he actually doesn’t mind Bosch so much and trusts him above the other fangs. He’s run him hard, but he’s never lied to him or given him a reason not to trust him.
Bosch' Toys
He's a tinkerer and self-proclaimed engineer with a specialty in magitech—which is not a term anyone but him uses. He likes to combine magic and technology in pursuit of easy to use devices that he can use to combat other supernatural critters. Mostly other fangs but he has an arsenal of anti-ghost equipment and knows more about wolf biology than they do. He makes frequent trips into the Wylds, dragging thralls with to meet the required entry quota—though he often leaves alone.
Nash (Fornash Drenkal)
“I ain’t afraid a you, fang.”
Wolf heartrunner and Den's younger brother. He’s 7’4”, around 18, though in human form he’d pass as late-20s. He hits up morgues and hospitals for the recently dead what might not need their hearts no more and brings them to the Wolf Boss—his mother, who is the mother of all wolves. He and Del have history, as the tentative agreement their respective little gangs hold is a new one—and Nash has a personal dislike of fangs due to serious mommy issues. Nash is not terribly eloquent in any of the forms he can take, but he is big and he is scary and very good at what he does. He’s also superstitious, devout to Mother Night and absolutely oblivious to what is actually going on at any given moment. Not the Wolves’ brightest, but he’s not paid to be.
Nash’s bark is worse than his bite, but his bite is nothing to sneeze at. However, it’s the claws that one has to watch out for. He fights more like a bear than a wolf and packs a punch; a sharp and slicing punch, which could take out a truck if he needed it to.
Shit-list
(there's only one fleshed out on this right now and currently only one scene with her, but she does show up again)
Mitzi Tru (real name unknown)
"I know what you got for him, honey…and it ain't nothing you'll ever give me."
Degenerate witch—as most Daughters of Sister Twilight—turned degenerate poltergeist. She's on the shit list, especially after what she does in the manuscript, but she was more friend than enemy once. Delmas knew her when she was alive, albeit he was a literal child at the time and didn't understand what the hotel she ran was actually for. Or why the only women in it seemed to work there. There were men there too, however, and he would discover things about himself in the Dahlia as a teen because of it.
Mitzi was always a bit pushy, had her favorite "boys" and wasn't good with sharing…but death did a number on more than her looks. How she died is no mystery, but she forgets frequently—which is why Bosch is still allowed in her hotel. Did it have something to do with a teenage halfie accidentally being left alone with a predatory older woman? Delmas has no memory of it, he was drugged at the time, but Bosch remembers it with crystal clarity. It wasn't his gun, but it was there and he knew how to use it. The cops then were paid well, or frightened better, and the body was never found.
Mitzi didn't get to move on—Daughters never do. She got to stick around and watch the fangs squat in her place and sometimes a flicker of memory ignites and she rages. If any women enter her hotel, scavengers out for what's mine, she rages. It's not the best place to do business, but it is the prettiest in the slums...and there's such a fine dungeon beneath that Bosch can't stand seeing go to waste.
Truelle (Truellear Fel Myra)
Sister of Dusk, Bloodbriar Coven, age 55. 5’3”
Lyrna (Lyrnassi Hal Sura)
Sister of Dusk. Bloodbriar Coven, age 50. 5’10”
Lulu (Lulusara Drenkal)
Wolfmother, appears to be in her early 40s in human form. 9’6”
To anyone’s recollection there has never been another wolfmother and all wolves can trace their lineage back to Lulu. No one knows how old she is. Even she has forgotten.

Hello! I saw your post on exposingcourtneylove, along with the tags saying how nothing negative was ever said about Kurt, and the further discussion on how it was a mutually toxic relationship. I have wondering if you could elaborate on that? I'm not denying that men can't be victims to abuse, of course--I had an uncle who was in an emotionally abusive relationship, alot like how that blog described.
yeah man ofc, thank you for being so respectful & asking abt a special interest of mine. I think exposingcourtneylove was/is a complete delusional mess bc it’s run by somebody who legitimately used to believe they were dating his ghost in the spirit world & fucking thru astral projection so I kinda pity that entire scene now. aside from shit that can be proved w video clips (such as Court saying slurs & shit) I wouldn’t believe anything u read there, esp not the shit abt like. Frances being forcibly conceived. bc that’s just a disgusting disgrace to how much Kurt wanted & loved that child, but that’s a side rant.
Kurt was really manipulative in his own ways and very dysfunctional. he never matured properly bc of trauma and untreated mental illness so he just never developed a real sense of emotional responsibility or an understanding of adult life, if that makes sense? like at my age he was still living rent free w Tracy Marander & manipulating her out of asking for help by threatening to sleep in his car. His relationship with Tobi Vail failed bc she wasn’t interested in mothering him or being in a monogamous relationship with him (neither of which they’re guilty of anything for!) so without somebody basically acting as his mother he lived in complete disarray and was miserable. when he and court got together she fulfilled all that shit he couldn’t get from his two previous serious relationships.
firstly, she was maternal and sort of a parentified eldest sibling so she was willing to baby and protect him. she would clean up after him, revive him, do drugs with him, defend him, filter his parental relationships for him, and give him at least a parody of the cohesive family life he was convinced he had to have. that is a LOT to expect your wife to do for you, and ofc he reciprocated in his own ways, but it went like? deeper than that? like according to Heavier Than Heaven and Hole’s BTM, Kurt was so needy and so fucked up that it put a strain on their relationship.
examples of that neediness would be: begging Courtney to let him do drugs/manipulating her into using with him, expecting her to help him through all of his breakdowns/not being able to handle them himself, being so insecure that he would rather OD than like. have an adult discussion with his wife about his insecurities & spare his child the loss of her dad. like he overdosed in Rome because he was convinced she was cheating and it affected her so badly that she had a nervous breakdown and her hair started coming out bc the mfer put himself in a COMA rather than talking about it.
if she laid down any ground rules, esp during the last year of their marriage, he would immediately break them. when she asked him not to do drugs in the house, he would just disappear to random hotels and she’d freak out thinking he’d die while using. if she let him do drugs in the house, she’d have to revive him or potentially have him die in front of her. when they did their final intervention to try and save his life, he told her she didn’t have any room to talk because she was just as fucked up as him- a fact that at the time wasn’t true, and it upset her so much that she had to be helped out of the house & out of the intervention. she was dedicated to improving in ways that Kurt wasn’t and she was never, never as badly addicted to specifically heroin as he was.
I think court is abusive, definitely, but specifically to Frances. I don’t think it can be argued that she abused Kurt because while she did pick fights with him & do things that set off his insecurities, he fought back just as hard and he hurt her very very deeply. I don’t think either of them were good to one another but I think they were as good as they could be, if that makes sense? like I think there was true love & soulmate shit going on there, it was just buried under these horrible issues and unhealed traumas. the real victim of Kurt and Courtney’s relationship is Frances, who is basically the quintessential “fix-it baby”, something she’s described herself as before. like idk why we focus on who abused who in an equally codependent & miserable relationship when the kid they had is the one who endured the most damage.

a somewhat coherent breakdown of VnC 54.5
Tumblr media
VnC 54.5 is out and I’m losing my mind over it. My thoughts are an absolute mess and I’m losing it and screaming and rolling on the floor. So! In order to try and get my thoughts in order (and, hopefully, figure out a tiny bit about what’s going on), let’s break down this chapter, my thoughts on it, and what it means for the world of VnC.
As much as I want to immediately jump into what I’ve dubbed the “Oh Shit Oh God Oh Fuck” part of the chapter, let’s start with something a little bit less horrifying but just as emotionally impactful..!
Dominique (and also Luca)
Tumblr media
Throughout the Exposition Universalle Arc, we’ve been learning about Domi’s massive amounts of guilt and self hatred brought on by her family’s abuse and Louis’s death. We’ve realized that Domi’s confident, flirtatious persona throughout earlier chapters was just her attempting to be what she thought Noé wanted her to be/ what Louis would’ve been like had he lived. All this comes to a head when Mikhail uses Domi’s guilt and self hatred to hijack her mind.
But once Dominique realizes that her death would make Noé upset, she starts to take back control of herself. In 54.5 she finally faces the part of herself that she’s always averted her eyes from, and fully takes control. Her strength in this chapter doesn’t come from a facade or her trying to be someone she’s not— she’s finally looking herself in the eye, and she’s fuckin breathtaking this chapter thanks to it.
Dominique uses her formula revision powers to save Noé and Vanitas and trap Mikhail, along with all of the civilians he’s controlling. Domi is so strong and pretty and I love her—
We learn from Luca that all of the living de Sade siblings have ice powers, meaning that certain vampiric powers seem to run in families in the world of VnC. As a brief detour, I have to wonder if these abilities are inherited through blood or taught from generation to generation— I feel like the simplest answer would be inherited through blood, but the fact that Ruthven uses flames despite not being biologically an Oriflamme (along with the Teacher teaching Noé how to rewrite gravity) makes me kinda think it might be an inherited secret technique type thing. It follows to wonder…. are Archiviste abilities inherited through blood, or are they taught/ passed from generation to generation in some other way?
We also get another little piece of lore from Luca during this part of the chapter— there’s something called the formula dance that vampires can perform. We see a small panel of Luca (and Ruthven) watching Domi do this dance, likely during some sort of event. Luca specifically tells Jeanne that Domi was performing “as entertainment”, implying this dance can also be used for other purposes? I want to know more.
I mentioned this in my slightly more incoherent live review of 54.5, but Luca is even more mature and insightful than I thought he was. He acts like an innocent kid at times, especially when it comes to romance, but it seems like he’s great at understanding the people around him, even when those people have massive walls up and put on acts like Dominique. This makes his situation as a political pawn/ figurehead even more depressing, because there’s absolutely no way in hell he doesn’t know what the people around him think of him. This also makes me kinda want to rethink Luca’s relationship with Ruthven…
Going back to Domi!! She protecc Noé and Vanitas, she attacc Mikhail, she make my heart go doki doki, and she’s finally bacc. This chapter really feels like the climactic moment of Dominique’s journey throughout the manga so far. She’s incredibly strong, and that strength is finally not built over years of self- hatred and insecurity. Dominique and the two parts of her mind she’s been arguing with the whole time; the side that wants to emulate Louis and be like him, and the side that hates herself and harbors all of her darkest thoughts; are finally fighting together as one.
And,,, deep sigh,,, not to get all pessimistic on y’all but this climactic moment, as fantastic as it is, makes me about 13% more certain that Dominique’s gonna die (13% because this is mochijun lmao). Maybe not in the immediate future, because I still think she needs to work some things out about her family and Noé and all that, but at some point in the future… yeah I do think she’s probably gonna die. This really feels like the climax of her character arc, and mochijun has a talent for giving characters fantastic complete character arcs and then killing them.
So yeah, I am slightly concerned for Domi’s chances of survival. Now let’s turn from concern to screaming in horror with….
Tumblr media
The Teacher
Oh boy.
Tumblr media
The moment I’ve been waiting for for years has finally arrived— the Teacher has showed up in the main storyline (this reveal does pretty much confirm that the Teacher was indeed the person Noé was talking to during his dream in chapter 11, but it wasn’t confirmed at the time so it doesn’t really count). I don’t quite know how Mochijun was able to make him look so absolutely horrifying in just a few panels of gloves and a single page, but he is legitimately terrifying. I am fucking scared. I am screaming. I am crying over the fact that there’ll be at least another month till chapter 55.
Let’s try to think about this rationally.
SO.
It seems like everything that’s gone down in the Exposition Universalle arc was another one of the Teacher’s experiments. It’s still possible that Mikhail’s benefactor was someone else, but judging from how he’s holding Mikhail’s head, it seems quite likely that the Teacher is the one who saved Mikhail’s life and told him he could bring Luna back from the dead. And, thinking about it a bit, Mikhail’s ability to manipulate Dominique’s insecurities would make a lot more sense if the Teacher’s been the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes all along.
Along with confirming his presence in Chapter 11 and (likely) his identity as Mikhail’s benefactor, Teacher’s arrival in 54.5 also all but confirms another theory about his experiment with Louis— the Teacher was watching the whole crisis go down from nearby (and was likely the one who orchestrated the whole incident from the start), and only stepped in when he deemed the experiment to be over/ to stop Louis from killing Noé.
I am incredibly curious about what the Teacher was trying to achieve through this new experiment…. as well as why he interrupted it and revealed himself to the gang. Was he genuinely just interested in seeing what these people would end up doing if put into this specific situation? Or did he have another motive for pulling the strings?
The Teacher says two things about the experiment to Domi and Noé— firstly, he considered stopping them sooner; and secondly, “you’ve shown me something excellent”. Maybe we can figure out something about the experiment if we figure out these two things? Unfortunately I have no feckin clue what either of these things could be. My best guess for the former would be that he considered stopping the experiment when Noé surrendered to Vanitas and did the whole “I will never set you free” love confession speech, since Noé’s life was very much in danger, and the Teacher couldn’t have predicted whether Vanitas would stop or kill Noé. As for the latter… it could really be anything. Dominique’s internal transformation? Mikhail getting rewritten/ “eaten” by the book of Vanitas? Some sort of other information the Teacher can squirrel away for a future experiment? I really hope we’ll learn more in the next chapter..!
As for why the Teacher stopped the experiment and revealed himself… hmm… that’s another thing I think we’ll find out more about in chapter 55. Occam’s razor suggests that the Teacher wanted to prevent Mikhail from dying due to his injuries/ book induced madness and use whatever crazy alchemy magic he used to save Mikhail’s life the first time around again, but it’s also possible that something else is going on.
If ya couldn’t already tell, am insanely insanely hyped for the next chapter. I’m extreeeemely curious about what everyone’s reactions to him are gonna be. We don’t actually know much about Noé’s current relationship with the Teacher, just that the tone of his letters seem to indicate it’s a positive one… so what in the world is Noé going to do in this sort of insane scenario? We know very little about Domi’s relationship with her dear ole grandpa, what’s she going to do? What about Jeanne and Vanitas (although I don’t think Vanitas is actually in any state to be able to have a reaction at this moment, more on that later)?
And of course, there’s also the big question… can the Teacher actually bring Luna back to life?
Noé, Vanitas, and Mikhail
Moving on from the insanity of the Teacher, let’s head over to his two students and their mutual obsession.
Wait, that was supposed to be a joke, but it’s actually kind of weird. Assuming the Teacher is Mikhail’s benefactor… it seems very very strange that both of the kids he’s taken under his wing have both ended up revolving around Vanitas. Did the Teacher purposefully take Mikhail in due to his connection to Vanitas of the Blue Moon? Did he purposefully send Noé to Vanitas because he knew Noé would become increasingly intertwined with Vanitas? Did the Teacher specifically send an Archiviste to Vanitas because he knew that Noé might be able to see Vanitas’s memories and learn some sort of crucial information about the Blue Moon—
Ok let’s get back on track.
VnC 54.5 shows Vanitas and Noé continuing to be themselves and constantly throw their lives on the line to protect each other, and then getting mad over the other person trying to protect them. Noé’s first reaction upon seeing the Ferris wheel falling was to try and protect Vanitas as much as he possibly could and that hurts me.
Tumblr media
Mikhail, meanwhile, has completely deviated from the calm and composed demeanor he had at the start of the Exposition Universalle Arc. His deteriorating mental state has completely fallen apart and, aided by whatever the hell the book did to him, he becomes dead set on one goal and one goal only— killing everyone in the park, but specifically Vanitas.
If I had to make a wild guess, I don’t think Mikhail is just fully having an “if I can’t have him no one can” tantrum here— I think he’s still quite aware of what’s going on and believes if he brings Vanitas to the brink of death (or even kills him), the Teacher can come and do whatever he did to Mikhail to bring Vanitas back. Mikhail is coherent enough to put on a desperate act and manipulate Vanitas’s kindness in one last ditch effort to kill him.
And when Vanitas falls for the trick, Noé saves him once more. Noé, Jeanne, and Dominique all rush in to try and protect Vanitas, but Noé’s the one who gets to him first. I initially thought Noé was just closer to Vani than Domi and Jeanne, but then I realized that if that were the case, Domi still likely would’ve been able to cast a formula revision before Noé reached Vanitas. Noé realized what was about to happen before the other two.
Noé slashes Mikhail’s face in a way that reminds me of… something, but my brain is too jumbled to piece together what it is at the moment. Mikhail starts screaming and Vanitas collapses to the ground, caught up in what appear to be his memories of what happened on “that day”. And then the teacher shows up.
the end (for now)
Tumblr media
VnC 54.5 was delightful. The gang’s night out at the fair seems to be winding to a close, but I’m more hyped than ever for the next chapter. I’m super pumped to see what the teacher has to say, and how the characters all deal with the aftermath of this insanity. I didn’t talk about Jeanne much in this breakdown, but I think she’ll play a bigger role in the next few chapters as she’s the only main character who hasn’t had massive amounts of trauma dredged up this evening (…..yet).
As always… thank you very much for reading this chapter breakdown/ analysis/ insane rambling post thing! Please take everything I’ve said here with a grain of salt, as a lot of the conclusions I’ve come to are probably wrong. I apologize for this blog’s inactivity and miiiight try to do a few more analysis meta thingys based on this chapter if the stars align and I’m not instantly distracted by ooh shiny
Thanks again for reading!!
Fun Fact
We haven’t seen Murr in a while, have we? :)

absolutely no one asked but my tua season three wish list includes but is not limited to and in no particular order:
Diego continuously hunting Lila down to talk to her and trying to convince her to join his family, and finally when she can’t evade him because people are after her and trying to kill her, they talk while fighting them to the tune of Take a Chance on Me by ABBA
the siblings beginning to rectify leaving Vanya out throughout their childhood via going with her to a tattoo parlor so she can get a matching umbrella academy tattoo while Vanya grabs on to Luther’s hand (Luther because only he would be able to handle the agony of Vanya’s iron clutches) for moral support
sibling mall trip with Vanya and Allison pulling Five into a photo booth because why not (bonus if the rest of the brothers try to get in on it and cramp the already non-existent space in the booth, come on Luther) (added bonus if they each keep a strip of photos and argue over the best ones)
the siblings noticing and doing something about the signs that Five is breaking down and needs emotional and mental support from the trauma that is his life + a freaking hug how about one from each of the siblings with verbal affirmations (bonus if it’s a fam group hug with Luther’s arms around them and Five squashed in the middle of it all)
the siblings reverting to childish behavior bc Grace and Pogo don’t know them + Diego being salty bc Mom doesn’t know who I am and extra salty bc one of the sparrow kids notice it bothers him and rubs it in his face
Klaus being taken more seriously and getting the help and support he needs
Klaus and angsty Ben having their first conversation and it being the most awkward thing ever bc isn’t Ben supposed to be dead and seeing that this isn’t the case, isn’t Ben supposed to be... Ben??
the umbrella academy and the sparrow academy fighting each other, physically or verbally I have no preference
the umbrella academy and the sparrow academy fighting together
the umbrella academy and the sparrow academy being domestic and chilling with one another at the end of the season (i.e. movie night all snuggled up together in the living room eating popcorn having just survived hell and Reginald Hargreeves)
Five crying and/or expressing his emotions and being heard because he’s more than earned the right to grieve and process everything that’s happened and be loved
Allison getting joint custody of Claire + reunion scene + meet your uncles and aunt scene
Luther meeting Claire and her calling him “Spaceboy!”
Five meeting Claire and he receives his first hug in years + Claire teaching him about the trends and tech of today + Five being coerced to watch Claire’s favorite Disney movie and letting her sleep on his shoulder when she falls asleep on the couch halfway through + Allison covering them both with a blanket when she finds them both asleep
Five bonding with each of his siblings and getting the appreciation and recognition he deserves
Diego going to see Vanya play and bringing her a bouquet of flowers at the end of the concert
the siblings being super protective of Vanya when she meets someone new because a) they love her and b) remember when she dated a serial killer?
a post-credits scene similar to the Avengers in which the siblings are sitting together eating at Griddy’s Donuts or another donut joint if Griddy’s has already closed after they save the world and Five being the first to get sick and proceed to blink to the trash can and puke into it
maybe an episode where Five finally succumbs to his fatigue and just sleeps the day away in his room and despite the fact that there are things going on and they need his help, they let him sleep because he deserves to rest, damn it!!
bonus if there’s a big fight scene with all hell breaking loose with a badass song playing in the background and it keeps cutting to Five snoring soundly in his bed
Five fighting alongside his siblings
Five dancing with his siblings
any scene with any ABBA song playing but preferably a fight scene, I beg
to be continued (maybe I’ll write a fic of each scenario??)

I’ve seen a couple posts about how everyone was wildly out of character and totally inconsistent this season and I’m just like... were you guys paying attention?
1. Luther
Arguably the biggest shift in character between the two seasons, but it makes sense. Luther spent a year fending for himself and thinking his entire family was dead.
This is the first time in his life that he had to hold down a job and actually live on his own. It was literally his first time living out in the world among anyone other than his family, and you can see in his reactions with the other characters from that life (the boss, his landlord, those kids that idolize him, and the waitress) that it has really mellowed him out. It has allowed him to be more normal, despite being very much not normal. You can see the way he’s so much more comfortable in his skin. Literally the only times he looks uncomfortable is when he’s fighting people, shirt off and body on full display. He’s still not comfortable with that, but he’s not trying to hide under huge overcoats anymore. He has people in his life who accept him for being a little weird, but really do treat him normal.
So is he a little less uptight and mission focused? Yeah. Because he can finally see another life, and it’s the life that he honestly did want in season 1 but felt like he couldn’t have because he was number 1 and he had a responsibility to his dad, his family, and the academy to be the leader. Having a year on his own frees him of all that.
But he also spent all that time thinking his family was dead and feeling so guilty about it. You can see in his very first interaction with Vanya, where he suddenly feels that responsibility again. He brings a gun, not knowing what’s going to happen and, despite what he told Five, he absolutely does still have that lingering feeling of responsibility. But then he sees Vanya and she’s not a threat and everything he has been holding in for the last year comes out. Because he does feel guilty as hell for what he did to Vanya, but also for the fact that his actions pushed her into causing the apocalypse. He spent a year with the knowledge that he did that and thinking that his family was dead because of his actions.
He’s willing to listen now because he spent a year living in a world where his actions killed his whole family. And now he finds out that that didn’t happen and he has a second chance. Of course he’s going to take it!
2. Diego
In the first season, Diego finally admitted that he wanted to be close to his family and that he cared about them and wouldn’t leave them again. He confronted the guilt about leaving, which he had previously denied. He realized the difference between revenge and honoring someone’s memory. But despite all that, he never confronted the reason why he, a grown-ass-man, wandered around the city as a leather clad, mask wearing vigilante.
So when we see Diego show up in 1963, that’s still who he is. He wants to be that hero and he finds an answer for how to be that hero in the first several minutes that he’s there. So he takes it. I mean, what else is he going to do? His family is gone. Maybe they’ll show up again. Maybe this is it. Either way, he’s on his own like he was before, so he’s got a duty to be the hero he has chosen to be.
And then he meets his dad again. Everyone keeps telling him he has daddy issues, and they’re right. He absolutely has daddy issues. He’s still trying to simultaneously prove that he’s good enough for his dad, but also doesn’t need Daddy’s approval. Except he does need it. He still desperately craves it and he feels gutted when his dad denies him that approval, even falling back into the stutter he had as a kid.
Now, despite the way we joke, Diego is not dumb. He is so observant and he makes some of the most poignant statements about his siblings and the way they see the world. He sees the people around them and he understands them, but he has never been able to completely turn that gift inwards and see those same things in himself. In this season, Lila breaks through all that and he finally sees himself in her at the end.
“Do you know how hard it is to trust people when your whole childhood was bullshit manipulation? Then why would you do that to me?”
Diego sees himself in Lila, in her failure to break away from her mother despite the fact that he knows she wants to. In the final episode, he sees that she is just like the rest of the siblings, but she doesn’t have to be. None of them have to be stuck with their daddy issues, because they have each other. They can support and care for each other. It’s the last step of the growth he started in season 1, moving beyond his tendency to define his life and his family through their father.
3. Allison
Throughout season 1, Allison struggled with whether or not to use her powers, but it was all centered around getting back to her daughter. When she appears in 1961, that motivation is effectively removed. She thinks everyone else is dead. She thinks that she is stranded in the past and that she will never get back. She finds a group of people to support her and before long... she finds her voice again.
It’s no coincidence that Allison’s first spoken words in the series come right after she gives Ray that pamphlet with a bunch of added notes. She finds her voice in the civil rights movement. She finds her power there. She finds a way to help change the world, to change reality, and she does it without her powers.
This is something she struggled with through the entirety of season 1, feeling inadequate for using her powers to get what she wanted, not knowing if anything was real or earned. Now she has the chance to earn everything without those powers and she is thriving.
And then she is forced to use her powers again. It all turns out fine, but now she’s showing off and experiencing all over again how good it feels to have power. She spent two years in a world where she was denied equal treatment, where she could be arrested and assaulted for any reason those with more power came up with. And now she feels that power... She doesn’t have to wait for people to give her respect. She can demand it. But the pain is still there, and it’s not enough to just be respected, because these people have hurt her. They almost killed her husband. They have used their power to cause pain to her and all those who look like her time and time again and now it’s time to understand what it’s like to be powerless, to be hurt and to be unable to stop it and...
And it’s scary. It’s scary to have that much power, to see how you could become the kind of person who uses your power to hurt others. And she knows that her power has hurt people she loves and suddenly she’s right back where she started.
Only not entirely.
She doesn’t shy away from her powers in the final fight. She is obviously still finding that balance and I would expect this struggle to continue for her in future seasons. Power can be addicting and Allison’s power is so strong. She knows the danger there, but she also knows that sometimes it’s needed despite the danger.
4. Klaus
Klaus is an addict. He finds obsessions to bury himself in to avoid dealing with reality. In season 1, he buried himself in drugs and booze. When he shows up in the 60′s, he finds a new drug to bury himself in: adoration.
Klaus is so impulsive and it’s not difficult to connect the dots of how one thing leads to another until suddenly everything is out of his control. Honestly, that’s the story of Klaus’s life, no matter where he goes. And then something changes. He gets tired of his cult and leaves. Except... that’s not really the reason.
After all this time, Dave is still the love of his life, and he knows he has an opportunity. He knows where Dave will be at this one time and he knows exactly what he has to change to keep Dave alive.
He also knows that Ben is going to have thoughts about this.
I know some people were disappointed that there wasn’t more Klaus and Ben bonding this season, but it makes sense that there is tension there. I think a lot of that tension comes from Ben’s circumstances, which I’ll discuss later, but Klaus is also not responding to that tension well.
They are fighting more than ever (not that they ever didn’t fight in season 1, where they spent much of their time being snarky to each other and Ben literally punching Klaus in the face for being an asshole), but the fighting is about something new this season. Ben wants his own life and Klaus is not in a position to give Ben what he really wants. We also learn that he has been carrying around this guilt for the last 17 years about forcing Ben to stick around as a ghost. He forced this half-life on his brother and now that it’s not enough for Ben, Klaus doesn’t want to deal with it. So he avoids and deflects and snarks and we see the toll on their relationship. We see it in the way he tries to deal with his plans around Dave entirely on his own. He focuses so much into that last ditch effort. He’s already in such a low place before this, so when that fails, we see him snap. We see him give up and crumble. And Ben falls back to his old role, trying to save Klaus from himself.
But the tension isn’t gone and Klaus’s guilt isn’t gone. We see it again when Klaus finally agrees to let Ben possess him. Klaus has always been afraid of his powers and being possessed is just as terrifying a thought as being surrounded by the dead. And yet he gives Ben that chance. It’s the last good thing he can do at that point.
I do wish we had gotten more closure for Klaus and Ben’s story. I think Vanya’s reveal could have been given a little more time, but that’s not really a problem with inconsistent characterization, so we’ll save that for another post.
5. Five
OK, who would argue that Five was out of character or inconsistent? He’s obsessed with stopping the apocalypse, is willing to cross a lot of lines to save his family, and constantly frustrated by his family’s failure to go along with his plans. This is textbook Five.
What I loved about this season was that we got to see Five finally meeting his father again. They interact as two adults, not as a child trying to find away to become his own person, frustrated by a lack of trust from his father. It allows Reggie to see Five in a different light and to actually provide advice in a constructive way, something he has almost never been able to do when viewing them as his children. But despite outward appearances and despite the fact that Five is a grown man, he still sees his father the same way he always has. He doesn’t register Reggie’s advice as advice. He hears that he’s striving beyond his abilities and that maybe he can only travel in seconds. He hears his father telling him he can’t handle time travel. That’s why he doesn’t try to actually take the very good advice until the very end.
An old dog can still occasionally learn a new trick and Five proves that true.
6. Ben
As I mentioned earlier, Ben is chaffing at his ghosthood. Maybe it’s because Klaus has been sober enough to keep Ben around solidly for 3 years. Maybe it’s because Ben is no longer spending all his time trying to keep Klaus alive and sober. Or maybe it’s the fact that he has finally found someone that he actually wants to spend time with. Whatever the reason, Ben wants to be alive this season.
Again, as I mentioned, that’s causing some tension. Ben doesn’t want to be tied to Klaus, but Klaus is ignoring that because he feels so guilty about it. Ben doesn’t want to admit that he was too scared to go into the light on his own, so they’re at a bit of a standstill.
And then Ben gets the opportunity to be alive again, if only for a while. And in a lot of ways, it’s wonderful! But it’s not the same as being truly alive.
So when the time comes, when he’s faced with that light again... he’s not afraid. He knows that it’s time to move on. He knows this isn’t where he should be, but he also got the chance to be there for his family. He misses them, but he got to talk to Diego and Vanya. He got to save Vanya. He got to save Allison and Diego and Klaus and Luther and Five and the whole world! So while he would have stayed, he’s not sad about leaving anymore, and he’s not afraid.
7. Vanya
OK, she was a little out of character because... you know. She had amnesia.
But aside from erasing her past, the amnesia allowed us to see Vanya without the anger and resentment that plagued her for all of season one. Vanya was always someone who was kind and loving, someone who cares enough to leave peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches out for a missing brother for years. Someone who knows the pain of not being seen and who will always take the time to truly see other people. She’s someone who wants to love and to be loved and to protect those she loves.
That was all here, with or without the memories. And as soon as the memories came back, so did the guilt and fear about what she had done, what she had become, terrified of what was inside her in a way that she was not when her powers first surfaced. But Ben is used to being afraid of what’s inside of him. He knows she’s not a monster and is the perfect person to explain that to her. And this time around, she has experienced the love and care and attention of her siblings (and Sissy) to back up those words. That’s how she finally accepts them as truth, how she finally accepts her power as a part of her.
Overall, there are things that I wish this season spent more time with, but there was nothing that I felt was out of character or wildly inconsistent. The characters still struggled with all the baggage from their shitty childhood, their fear of their powers, and the guilt in their past. Some struggled in new ways this season and some continued old struggles that had never fully been resolved. The season felt very different than the first, but it still felt like the Umbrella Academy. It was a good mix of new and old and a good mix of feel-good moments we have all been waiting for and frustrating and sad moments that just come with having a complicated family. I loved this season. And now, I’m going to go re-watch every episode.

The Secrets Best Left In The Dark
Batsis x Batfamily One-Shot
Word Count: 4K Warnings: Angst, Mentions of Death
Author's Note: I thrive on angst, so I have no apologies for y'all. Enjoy! -Thorne
They’d never claim their eldest sibling was cowardly. Far from it, she put her life on the line every day, in and out of the suit, defending those she cared for with a strength that they’d never seen in anyone. But while everyone in their family was typically hot-tempered and ready for a beatdown, she was calm and quiet. Always kind, and never letting anger, or any type of other emotion show besides pleasantness. For a while, they merely assumed she was the doormat type, simply on the basis that she never argued with their dad over anything—the whole “It’s my way or the highway” and his way was what she always went with—and that made her seem like an alien surrounded by humans because everyone argued with Bruce. That, and the fact that whenever she got into the rare fight during patrol, she’d never hit anybody. She was trained to take down multiple combatants and not once did she ever punch, hit, or kick a single person.
It was practically abnormal to be in the Batfamily and never lay a hand on a criminal, and yet that was what their sister did. Hardly ever did she use force to get what she wanted, always relying on stealth. Even on the minute cases when she got caught in an infiltration and had to fight her way out, she used electrified gauntlets to subdue them, rarely coming to blows. So, in a sense while everyone in her family was an aggressive fighter, she was a defensive—or perhaps a passive one—and that’s how she acted in life too. Always passive by nature, but always playing the peacekeeper between brothers and between fathers and sons.
They never knew why she was such a way, from the stories that Diana and Clark used to tell, back when it was just their sister and Bruce, she was a whirlwind that got into fights with anything that dared breathe in her direction—apparently, she made her angriest siblings look like mice. But no matter how many times they pried or even asked Bruce (apparently, he didn’t know what changed either—and this was coming from the World’s Greatest Detective), she never talked about it, simply saying that she grew out of always being angry and wanted to be calmer.
They suspected she held a dark secret—but no one could’ve prepared for just how dark and damaging it had been to her all these years.
***
In hindsight, taking a trip into Scarecrow’s lab was a bad idea, but when the offer had come up in the cave from her father, (Y/N) was happy to lend a hand, knowing that with his recent injury, he wouldn’t’ve been able to get out there during the night. It was also amazing, in the twenty-seven years she’d been alive, and in the past nineteen years that she’d been a vigilante, she’d never seen her father take a break—she could count on one hand how many times he had, and even then, he was still working in the cave, so technically it wasn’t a break.
But after tangling with Bane and Croc, he’d broken a few ribs and after repeated complaints and worries from her, his sons, and Alfred, Bruce finally agreed to let his children handle patrol. Which is why when the quadrants of the city were split up between Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian, it left (Y/N) to pick up specific places that Bruce wanted checked out—she warmly agreed to do so. And while she was confident in her abilities to do everything, he asked of her, she should’ve called for backup when it came to infiltrating Scarecrow’s hideout.
***
Another vent went off above her and she ducked, eyes narrowing as she watched the orange fog, appearing blue through her detective mode, drift out. She would’ve sprayed it, but she’d used up all of her explosive gel covering the others. Now she simply had to avoid them and hope that her gas mask filtered properly—so far, it was. A shrill laugh echoed through the speakers above her, and shivers went down her spine.
Anytime now, Batgirl. You will fall too.
She frowned. “I’m not afraid of you, Doctor Crane.” Ducking under another pipe, she added, “I can help you if you’ll let me.”
Help me? Help…ME? You can’t even help YOURSELF!
Scarecrow had always been a talker, much like the majority of the villains they faced, and he was looking for a rise. She came to the end of the corridor where the pipes met a brick wall and she sighed, searching for a way through. A vent covered the top right corner and she pulled out the grapple gun, pointing it at the grate. She pressed the trigger and it latched onto the metal bars; grasping the cord, she yanked as hard as she could, stepping backwards when it fell, hitting the ground with a clang.
(Y/N) heaved herself up into the vent and crawled on her hands and knees, as quietly as she could, twisting and turning through the maze of confined metal. When she came to the end, another grate covered the exit and she pressed her foot against it, pushing until the bolts popped loose and she could slip out.
From the looks of it, if the advanced chemistry equipment were any help, she’d ended up in Scarecrow’s lab. He wasn’t in sight, but that gave her time to look around and see if he’d changed any formulas recently. She raised her wrist and tapped at the blue screen, taking a moment to run a program. When it beeped, (Y/N) sighed in relief and reached up, pulling the gas mask off—the air was clean.
She set the mask down on the counter and put a finger to her ear. “Batman, do you read me?” His voice came through a moment later.
“I read you Batgirl. Loud and clear.”
“I’m in Doctor Crane’s lab,” she said, poking around at the notes he’d scrawled out. “I don’t see anything new. The formulas all look the same.”
“Compounds?”
She frowned and read. “Honestly, it’s a bit hard to decipher. His handwriting is a lot like Red’s when he’s had one too many energy drinks.” A quiet huff came from over the line, telling her that he was amused. “I’ll send you pictures of it and see if you can.” (Y/N) snapped a few photos. “Get ‘em?”
“Just now,” he replied, and she walked over to one of the lit Bunsen burners.
“Looks like he’s got something brewing right now though,” (Y/N) leaned over and peered into it, careful to avoid any steam that was rising.
“Recognize it?”
She paused. “It’s not the usual stuff he’s got. It looks almost golden and—”
All at once the dish exploded and she had just enough time to cover her face from the shattering glass, letting out a gasp as she recoiled.
“Batgirl, what happened?”
(Y/N) coughed and waved a hand, and when her hand appeared double, she breathed out in shock. “Oh no,” she whispered.
“Batgirl, report.” She hurried to the exit of the lab as Scarecrow’s cackle sounded overhead.
“I’ve been hit with a blast of toxin.” Pulling open the door, she fumbled with her utility belt then let out a sigh.
“What’s wrong?”
(Y/N) shook her head and weaved down the corridors, the faster she got to her bike, the faster she could get back to the cave.
“I don’t have any anti-toxin on me.” She pushed against the doors and stumbled out into the cold and rainy night. Her mind was already beginning to fog over as she climbed onto her bike, and she barely had enough focus to keep it steady while she programmed it to auto-drive.
“I’m sending one of the boys to you.”
She grunted and lifted her foot as the bike revved and shot forward. “Don’t. I’ve already programmed the bike to the cave’s coordinates. I’ll be back in less than fifteen minutes.”
“You won’t make it that long.”
(Y/N) groaned as the lights began to flash around her and she saw faces and images passing her. “I just have to…focus.”
Horns blared around her as the bike weaved in and out of cars and she held onto the frame with all the strength she had. His voice started echoing in her ears and she shut her eyes, trying to block it out.
You could’ve saved me.
Another groan escaped her, and she heard, “(Y/N), talk to me.”
She shook her head. “I can’t—I have to—focus now.” But with every passing second, his voice got louder and more insistent.
You let me die. You watched me die.
(Y/N)’s eyes filled with tears and they dripped down her cheeks. I tried to save you. she thought, hoping it would suffice, but she knew it wouldn’t. I tried so hard to. The last thing she remembered was turning onto the street that led to the cave.
***
Bruce was already pushing away from the Batcomputer when the boys arrived back at the cave, Dick and Damian from the Batmobile, and Tim and Jason from their own rides. Knowing that their father wasn’t one to sit around, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to be moving, but with how quick and worried his movements seemed, they knew something was wrong.
Dick pulled the cowl away from his face and asked, “B? What’s wrong?”
Bruce didn’t respond at first, hurrying towards the medical station they had. “Your sister was dosed with fear toxin and she doesn’t have anti-toxin to counteract it.”
Jason, who’d already taken his hood off, was already in the process of putting it back on. “Let one of us take it to her.”
Their father shook his head, rummaging for an antidote. “She’s coming back here.”
“Here?” Tim repeated, striding over. “Fear toxin works within seconds on normal people, minutes for us.” He looked at his brothers. “She won’t have enough time to get back here and not be under the effects.”
Bruce nodded, focusing as he poured a vial of glowing green liquid into the needle gun. “I know.” He looked at Tim. “That’s why I’m getting it ready for her.”
“Father, can we do anything?” Damian questioned, pulling away the domino mask from his eyes.
“Get ready to be on the defensive if she’s offensive,” he replied. “I don’t think she’ll hit anybody, but you never know.”
“She can’t hit that hard. (Y/N) only weighs—” Jason cut off as the rev of an engine cut though the air and they turned to see their eldest sister coming in on a sleek black motorcycle, that was shaking badly.
“(Y/N)!” Dick yelled and the bike suddenly shifted and toppled sideways, throwing her from it. It slid across the cave floor in a hail of sparks, metal, and plastic flying in every direction as (Y/N) rolled too.
They started running towards her, hoping to stop her when her back collided with one of the glass cases that held their suits, and she went limp.
Bruce reached her first, and knelt down, setting the antidote aside to check her first. The way she hit the case and with how hard, it was possible that she could be seriously injured—or worse.
“(Y/N)!” he called, hands coming to pull her away from the case. She whimpered and he let out a sigh—she was still alive. “(Y/N), can you hear me?” he inquired, reaching up to pull the cowl from her face.
Her brothers crowded behind him and they all stared in horror as tears streamed down her cheeks, and blood out of her nose.
“I’m sorry,” she bawled. “I tried to save you.” Bruce looked at her then grabbed the needle gun, bringing it up to her neck.
“Hang on, (Y/N). You’re gonna be okay.”
She grabbed his hand and cried, “I held on as long as I could, but my grip was slipping. I’m sorry I couldn’t hold onto you. I’m sorry I let you go. I let you die. I’m sor—” her sobs cut her off as she curled in on herself, and as if finally snapping out of a trance, Bruce pulled his hand from her grip and pulled the trigger of the gun.
(Y/N) jerked as the needle entered her skin and they watched the neon green liquid in the vial emptied. She fell into whimpers and mumbles of “I’m sorry” before her eyes rolled back and she collapsed in Bruce’s arms.
He stared at her for a second, feeling numb at his daughter’s admissions. Whatever her fear had been, it’d been there a long time, and he had no idea what it was about. Sighing heavily, he drew his eyes to his sons, to Jason.
“Will you take (Y/N) to her bedroom while I get an IV ready?”
Jason nodded and bent down, picking up his unconscious sister. He tucked her head in the crook of his neck and looked at Dick. “Get the doors, yeah?” Dick nodded and hurried ahead of him, while Tim and Damian followed in suit.
Bruce was left alone in a matter of moments, and all he could do was rise to his feet and ready the medical supplies, all the while, thinking back on every night that (Y/N) had gone on patrol in the last nineteen years—and the last time someone died in front of her.
***
Her head felt like an overripe melon ready to burst, and that first moment of cracking her eyes open was the biggest mistake since she told her dad what ‘Thot’ meant. The second she opened them, she shut them once more, inhaling deeply through her nose as the fog started to clear from her mind.
“Queenie, hey, you’re awake,” Jason murmured, and she nodded, blinking a few times before his face came into focus, Dick appearing Tim appearing behind him.
“Go get dad,” Dick said to someone, and she figured it was Damian since neither Jason nor Tim moved.
(Y/N) started shifting, trying to sit up when Dick put his hand on her shoulder, gentle, but firm as he said, “Don’t try to move, Barbie.”
“Where’s dad?” she asked, craning her neck to see.
“Damian’s going to get him sis,” Tim answered, smoothing out the blanket covering her. “Just relax. You took a beating when you came into the cave.”
“I did?” she questioned, eyes widening in shock when they nodded, faces pinched with worry.
The ceiling light turned on just bright enough to give sight and they looked at Bruce who was coming in, Damian following.
“(Y/N),” Dick moved, letting Bruce take his spot, and he took her hand in his, running his thumb over the back of her hand. “You had us all worried.”
She frowned and exhaled heavily. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do that.” She gazed between them, and something in their eyes made an emotion she couldn’t describe rise in her chest.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” (Y/N) met Bruce’s eyes. “What happened?” Before he could answer, she gasped and looked at her brothers. “I didn’t hurt anyone, did I?”
A chorus of hurried, “No’s!” rang out and she sighed in relief, reclining back on the pillows.
“Oh, thank goodness.” She went silent, then started, “But…something did happen, didn’t it?”
Her brothers glanced between themselves then they looked at Bruce who sighed and squeezed her hand, drawing her attention to him.
“What?” she asked and when he said nothing, she repeated, “Dad, what?”
His steel blue eyes met hers and he murmured, “You were apologizing for…letting someone die.”
Whatever had flashed in her eyes that told them she knew exactly what they were talking about was shocking enough because Jason said, “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t wanna, Queenie.”
(Y/N) fell silent for a full minute and when she spoke again, her voice was quiet and the look in her eyes was far away. “Before Dick came to the manor it was just you and I patrolling Gotham. At eight, I wasn’t really let out of your sight, but one night I had wandered off while you were dealing with Two-Face.” She looked at Bruce. “I found an injured GCPD officer on a bridge. He had been tailing Killer Croc.”
She glanced at Tim. “His name was Grady Richards.”
Tim’s eyes fell to the tablet in his hands, and he tapped at the screen for a few moments, then read, “Hero cop Grady Richards honored after dying in line of duty. He fell off a broken bridge on Miagani Island.”
Bruce’s eyes found hers again. “He didn’t fall, did he?”
(Y/N) felt tears grow in her vision and she shook her head. “No…no he didn’t.” Inhaling deeply, she recounted, “Croc came back and there was no way either of us could’ve taken him, so we ran. And Croc chased us.” She shut her eyes, remembering the night.
***
Fear pulsed through her veins as she sprinted as far away from the overgrown crocodile as she could. The GCPD officer was ahead of her, but he stopped and spun around to see her.
“Hurry!” he yelled, pointing back to the car. “Get to the cruiser!”
She spared a glance over her shoulder, eyes going wide when she saw Killer Croc picking up one of the concrete guards.
“Duck!” was all she heard, and she hit the ground, watching as if in slow motion as it flew overhead, then smashed into the top of the cop’s car, glass and metal shattering under the pressure.
Someone grabbed her by the back of her suit and hauled her up, slinging her behind them, and the back of the GCPD officer’s uniform came into view.
“Start running, Batgirl! And don’t stop!” he yelled, and when he has his sidearm drawn, he looked down at her. “You’ve got as much time as I have bullets.” He turned, opening fire, and she took a moment to stare before scrambling to her feet to start running.
A cry of pain sounded behind her, and against her better judgement, she turned and looked, gaping as Croc’s arm sent the officer flying. He hit the guardrail and collapsed against it and her feet were moving before she could stop them.
The first punch went to the back of Croc’s knee and she knew it had to have hurt her more than it did him because he didn’t even flinch. But when those glowing yellow eyes peered down at her, she knew she was in trouble.
“Looks like I’ve got an appetizer for the night!” he laughed and reached for her, but she ducked and rolled out of his way, standing in front of the wounded GCPD officer, who weakly looked up at her.
“What are you—doing? I told you…to run.”
She couldn’t beat Killer Croc, and she knew it, but she shook her head and stared down the villain before her.
Croc’s attacks were wide and though she was small, she was pushed to her limit rolling and dodging every one. After a few moments, she was practically dead on her feet, huffing as her lungs begged for air. She kept wiping away the rain that splattered against her mask and on a particularly unlucky step, she found herself slipping.
And it was all the opening that Croc needed because he swiped at her and she flew backwards into the officer who’d managed to stand, just barely. Colliding with him tipped his balance and they went over the guardrail, barreling towards the ground.
She reached out as fast as she could and grabbed hold of the metal beam that ran the length of the under bridge, crying out in pain as it pulled the joints and bones. Her other hand gripped the officer’s and she held on tight. Croc leaned over the bridge, apparently not seeing them because his footsteps went off in the opposite direction, leaving them in silence.
Time passed and she wasn’t sure how long, but both her arms were getting tired, and she looked down at the officer.
“Sir?” she called, and he looked up at her. “You have to climb. I’m starting to lose grip.”
He tried to reach up but let out a cry and grabbed his side with his free hand. Pulling his hand away, she saw the crimson dilute with rainwater.
The hand that held the ledge began to cramp and she started hyperventilating. “Please, you need to hurry! I can’t hold on much longer!” Again, he tried, and she looked down at him as her fingers began to shake.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered and let go of his hand, and the last thing she saw until he hit the ground was the sight of his eyes, wide with fear and pleading.
***
“I watched his head explode when he hit the ground,” she said, tears pouring down her cheeks as she stared out the window, watching the rain hit against the glass. “I had to make a choice. Either both of us died or one of us lived.” (Y/N) looked at Bruce. “And I chose my life over his.”
No one could believe their ears at the story she’d told, but suddenly, the self-sacrificing attitude their sister had, the way she’d bend over backwards for anyone, made perfect sense—she did it out of atonement, for a wrong she carried since she was eight years old.
“I pulled myself back up onto the bridge and I ran as far as I could and didn’t look back,” she said. “I kept my mouth shut when the paper ran his story and never told anyone about it.”
(Y/N)’s breath shuddered. “I just pushed it down as far inside me as I could and tried to forget about it.” Her eyes met Bruce and she tearfully stated, “But every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face.”
He leaned forward and took her hand. “Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked softly, dark brows furrowed in hurt.
She swallowed thickly and shook her head as she replied, “I killed someone that night. I was terrified about what you would’ve said. About what you would’ve done.” He gazed at her and (Y/N) whispered, “I’m sorry, dad.”
Bruce dropped her gaze and took a deep breath before murmuring, “It was just an accident, (Y/N).”
“I let go of—”
“I would’ve been more upset having to bury my daughter,” he interrupted, and she fell silent, gaping at him. He searched her face and reached up, placing a hand on her cheek. “I understand why you kept this secret, but you should’ve come to me, (Y/N).” Shaking his head, he added, “You didn’t deserve to be buried under this for nineteen years.”
“I’m sorry,” she said, lowering her head and Bruce shook his head in response.
“No, I’m sorry.” When she met his eye, he continued, “I’m sorry I didn’t know you were carrying this. Then and now.”
(Y/N) swallowed and rested back against the bed. “I send his widow money on the anniversary of his death. I slip it into the pension she’s given.” She let out a sigh. “It’s the only way I’ve found that I could sleep at night.”
Her eyes drifted to the window and Bruce placed a kiss to her forehead. “Get some sleep, sweetheart.” She nodded and before he left, he said, “And when you feel up for it, we’ll see about setting up a fund in his name.”
She wished it didn’t make her as emotional as it did, but silent tears dripped down her cheeks as the door closed, leaving her and her brothers alone. They gathered on her bed, leaning close to offer their support, and she was thankful for them doing so. And for the first time in nineteen years, when (Y/N) closed her eyes, she didn’t see Grady Richards’ face.

Trollhunters : Rise of The Titans [Rika’s Version!]
AIGHT SO THIS IS WHAT SHOULD’VE FREAKIN’ HAPPENED --
The movie starts a year after Wizards. We see Douxie, Archie, and Nari all settled in Metro City. Douxie managed to get a dinky little apartment and works two jobs. He comes home after a long day to Nari and Archie.
Maybe Nari’s running around chasing after Archie. Maybe the two of them are curled up on the couch and snoozing. Douxie smiles softly, petting Archie’s head and gently brushes Nari’s hair out of her face. Maybe Nari was singing to one of her plants and just beams when Douxie walks through the door. Just Magical Siblings and Their Therapy Cat fluff.
But that night, Douxie wakes up. Something feels very, very wrong. Nari feels it, too.
Cut to the door to their apartment being busted right through, flames quickly consuming the threshold. To Douxie’s horror, it’s the Arcane Order and he immediately goes on the offensive. This is the first display in the movie of Douxie’s strength as a Master Wizard, his proficiency and skill with his magic as he holds his own against Bellroc and Skrael as he did in Wizards. He tells Archie to take Nari and run but neither of them want to leave him behind. Archie instead fights beside Douxie, urging for Nari to escape while she can. Nari’s reluctant because Douxie and Archie have become so precious to her.
When it looks like they’re about to be done in, Archie wills himself to transform into a huge dragon, taking Douxie and Nari into his claws and flying out of there, busting straight out of the apartment. But not before giving Bellroc and Skrael a thrashing with his tail. They manage to give the Order the slip. For now.
Archie quickly loses steam from holding such a form and crashes on the outskirts of the city, transforming back into a cat. Douxie cradles him in his arms. Nari tends to their wounds with her magic, looking forlorn.
Douxie frantically dials a number on his phone.
“Claire? Claire it’s me...” A column of fire erupts in the distance. A shot of Douxie, Archie, and Nari huddled close. “They found us.”
Trollhunters : Rise of the Titans Title Screen
The scene fades in on the new and improved Camelot, where the Lakes are staying. We see Jim spending time with his mother and Walter and it’s lovely. We see a hint of Jim’s trauma when he’s cooking and looks at his reflection in a spatula. He flinches away. He doesn’t want to look at himself. Barbara comforts him, a tender heartfelt moment between them.
Claire then emerges from a shadow portal with grim news : The Arcane Order have found Douxie and Nari.
Jim gathers his friends. Claire shadow portals them all to Douxie, who’s found shelter in a hut Nari made from tree roots. Douxie’s cast a barrier to hide their presence, though it won’t last long.
It’s a really sweet and awesome reunion. Douxie gives Claire and Steve big hugs. Nari bounds up to Toby and holds his hand. Jim, Krel, and Douxie have a “good to see you again, bro” moment between them. Aaarrgh licks his lips at the sight of Archie.
It’s here that Douxie gives the deets on what’s happened. As they begin to figure out a way to keep Nari safe and away from the Order, Nari suddenly says, “No.”
After almost losing Douxie and Archie, her new family, Nari decides enough is enough. She wants to face her corrupted siblings head-on. To not only protect the world, but her newfound friends.
Douxie understandably protests. But Nari, gentle but resolute, tells him she’s made up her mind. No more running.
And so, Douxie acquiesces.
Cue the sequence/fight scene on the train!
Nari realizes what Douxie’s doing when it’s too late. They switch bodies and Douxie’s taken away by the Order.
“Douxie, I’m so sorry...I couldn’t save her,” Claire laments.
Nari, in Douxie’s body, “N-no...No, I am fine. But Douxie...Douxie!”
Everyone’s like, “Oh no” but then oof, they all get arrested.
The police department scene! With Krel and the Blanks busting everyone out.
Now, we find ourselves back on Camelot where Jim’s being attended to by Walter and Barbara after waking up from a nightmare. Bellroc’s words torment him : “Without your Amulet, you are nothing but a frightened! Little!! BOY!!!”
Walter suggests Jim should lay low, let his friends handle things. Jim reaches a real low point here. Claire provides some comfort. Hand in hand, they make their way to the Round Table, where everyone’s licking their wounds.
Blinky explains to them that the Order wants to awaken the Titans and need all three members of the Order to do so. While everyone’s relieved that Nari’s safe, Douxie’s now in the Order’s clutches and they want to figure out a way to save him.
Nari, sad and grim, says that Douxie’s spell will eventually wear off.
“He is, as humans say, buying us time...”
Cut to Douxie (in Nari’s body) with the Order. Douxie doesn’t make a sound, not wanting to give anything away. They try the ritual and when it fails, Bellroc and Skrael quickly suspect foul play. They realize that Nari isn’t Nari and proceed to forcefully, painfully, undo Douxie’s spell.
Douxie wakes up, back in his own body. He’s swarmed by his friends, all overcome with relief that he’s alright, but it’s short-lived. The Order has Nari.
Douxie manages to recall where the Order took him. Before they head out, a downtrodden Jim says he should stay behind, going back to the bed chamber. Claire goes to talk to him, but Douxie stops her.
“Let’s give him some space,” Douxie says gently, though he looks just as concerned for Jim. “In the meantime,” he summons his staff, “we’ll hunt the Order down, put a stop to their schemes, and bring Nari home.”
Everyone heads to the warehouse-train track place (I forgot what it was called rip). Just then, Aja comes flying in, having been contacted by Krel. The Tarron siblings have a sweet, wholesome, long-awaited reunion. Also Staja and Creepslayerz reunited!
Aja cautions Steve about the whole seventh kiss-pregnancy thing and he quickly decides that, yeah no, he’s not quite ready for that. His Alien Queen Muffin (or whatever the heck he called her) is back and that’s all that matters to him. Also wtf Eli’s hot and taller than him now.
There’s a cute moment of Douxie and Aja really meeting for the first time. Aja recognizes him.
“Oh! You were the hand-reading waiter boy!”
Upon hearing she’s a Queen, Douxie’s Medieval chivalry kicks in and he bows at the waist.
“The name’s Hisirdoux, Your Majesty.” After Aja butchers his name, he says “Douxie” will do just fine.
Nomura abruptly reminds them they don’t have time for pleasantries. They get to it. Douxie figures out the sigil and the illusion fades, revealing the Order performing their ritual with a brainwashed Nari. They’re unable to stop it and the Order members teleport away to join with their respective Titans. We see each of the Titans rising.
The Arcadia Gang regroups back on Camelot to form a plan. Jim, discouraged and deeply troubled, is leaning over a rail, head in his hands. Douxie comes up beside him, silent.
Jim eventually asks how things went. When Douxie tells him they failed and the Titans have risen, Jim feels even more powerless and guilt-ridden.
“I’m sorry...I’m sorry, I couldn’t...I can’t do anything. Without the Amulet I’m not the Trollhunter anymore and I’m just...useless--”
Douxie cuts him off, putting a hand on Jim’s shoulder.
“Jim. That’s not true. Do you remember what I told you? That our strength doesn’t come from special trinkets. Our strength...” Douxie finally gets Jim to look at him, “comes from our friends. From each other. All of us together. That includes you.”
“But...without my Amulet how can I do anything--”
Douxie smiles gently. “By being true to yourself, Jim. As we, your friends, are true to you.”
Just then, Claire joins them and asks if Jim’s okay. Jim smiles as Douxie ruffles his hair.
“I will be. Thanks.”
Jim, Claire, and Douxie find everyone arguing at the Round Table. Aja is wanting to evacuate everyone off of Earth, to which Blinky protests. Everyone just keeps going back and forth until Jim yells for them to stop.
Time to divide and conquer, cutting back and forth between each battle with the Titans.
Aja, Krel, Steve, and Eli tackle the Fire Titan.
Blinky, Toby, and Nomura handle the Ice Titan, with Walter and Barbara steering Camelot.
Jim, Claire, Douxie, and Aaarrgh go for the Earth Titan. Douxie’s hoping to get through to Nari and break her free from the Order’s control.
Aja and Krel fight the Fire Titan side by side on their hoverboard. Steve and Eli help civilians off the bridge and keep them safe.
Varvatos Vex in his giant robo mech incoming, along with a handful of Akiridion warships.
The Fire Titan proves to be too powerful and defeats Varvatos’ robot, melting down the Akiridion troops in the process. Aja and Krel are knocked down from their hoverboard. They and Varvatos retreat as the Fire Titan continues to burn a path towards its destination.
Toby and Nomura attempt to zipline their way to the Ice Titan to take down Skrael with Akiridion bombs. When the rope fails, Walter extends his wings to save them, but his wings quickly freeze.
Nomura grabs the bombs and sacrifices herself, bidding a heartwrenching farewell to Toby and her longtime friend, thanking them both. She asks Toby to tell Jim she said goodbye. Ever agile, Nomura scales the Ice Titan and detonates the bombs.
But to everyone’s horror, the Ice Titan only puts itself back together. Walter sinks to his knees. Toby throws down his helmet. Their friend sacrificed herself for nothing.
Aaarrgh is charging after the Earth Titan, Douxie, Jim, and Claire hanging onto his back. Claire shadow portals the three of them onto the Titan’s back. Douxie begins to plead with Nari, even as she constricts him with vines.
Douxie manages to grab her hand. He begins to break the mind-control with his magic, still calling out to Nari as he’s losing the ability to breathe.
Douxie’s voice reaches her and she breaks free. Nari frantically asks where she is, if she hurt him or his friends. Douxie, overcome with relief, just embraces her.
“You’re here with us, Nari...You’re here with us.”
Nari assures them they have a Titan on their side now. They receive communication from the Tarrons, who warn them that the Ice Titan is getting close to Arcadia.
No time to wonder why Skrael’s headed there. Claire makes a massive shadow portal to Arcadia (the field trip scene!), taking Nari’s Titan with them. Nari tries to reason with Skrael, but he’s having none of it.
NARI VS SKRAEL COMMENCE!
The Tarrons and Creepslayerz arrive on scene. Douxie boards Aja’s hoverboard and together they fire lazers and magic at the Ice Titan. Varvatos dashes and slashes his way up the Titan. Claire, Jim, Krel, Steve, and Eli work to rescue the school bus from getting crushed.
Well, it does get crushed but thankfully everyone made it off. Then, Archie comes flying in with his father, Charlemagne. Charlie flies all the students and Coach to safety. Archie joins Douxie in the air, blasting Skrael with fire.
“C’mon and face the music, Skrael!!!” Douxie summons Spellcaster and starts shredding.
Enraged, Skrael releases a devastating burst of magic that knocks Douxie, Aja, and Varvatos away. Nari seizes the opportunity to impale Skrael’s Titan, but not before Nari’s fatally wounded by him in return. Both Titans collapse.
Douxie runs to Nari, desperately calling her name. She’s on the ground, dying. Everyone gathers around, devastated. Douxie holds Nari in his arms. Archie nuzzles Nari’s arm, tears forming in his eyes. Douxie’s already crying.
“No..No, no, Nari, please...” Douxie holds her hand. “Nari, don’t go, please...!”
“It is okay, Douxie...Do not be sad...”
“I’m sorry...I’m sorry, I said I would protect you...” Douxie leans down, almost touching his forehead to hers (it’s Harry and Dobby y’all). His tears fall onto her face. “I said I would protect you...!”
“You did something greater, Douxie...” Nari squeezes his hand. Tears of her own roll down her cheeks. “You gave me a home. And many, many friends....” Douxie sobs harder, holding her close. “You saved me, Douxie...” She’s beginning to fade. She smiles, her eyes closing. “Thank you...Thank...”
Nari fades, wisps of magic and flower petals slipping through Douxie’s fingers. Douxie wails, Archie pressing close. Jim and Claire lay their hands on his shoulders. Claire hugs him.
Krel is then alerted that the Fire Titan is also on the move towards Arcadia.
Everyone reconvenes on Camelot. They all mourn the deaths of Nomura and Nari.
They learn that Bellroc is headed towards Arcadia, the center of the universe, because that’s where the last Heartstone is. If at least one Titan reaches the Heartstone, the world will be wiped clean.
Before they head out, Douxie and the Tarrons present Jim with a brand new Amulet, forged from magic and Akiridion technology. That, and the stone in which Excaliber lodged itself. Douxie encourages Jim to try once more.
Jim steps up on the stone, gazing fondly at his friends around him. They all place their hands on the stone in support. Jim pulls Excaliber from the stone. Everyone cheers for him.
Douxie’s seen texting someone.
FINAL SHOWDOWN IN ARCADIA
Bellroc is seen making their way towards the Heartstone. But what stands between them and the prize is the Guardians of Arcadia.
Charlemagne, Archie, and Walter soar above. Blinky and Aaarrgh lead an army of trolls. More Akiridion fleets arrive, Aja and Krel at the helm. Varvatos has a brand new robo, too.
Bellroc sneers at their defiance and summons an army of their own : hundreds of big rocky lava monsters.
BATTLE OF THE MOST EPIC OF PROPORTIONS IS A GO.
Trolls are punching, Akiridions are blasting, magicians are casting.
JIM SUITS UP WITH HIS NEW ARMOR AND EXCALIBER AND IS LIKE DON’T THINK BECOMIN’ FOR YA BELLROC FOR THE GOOD OF AAAAAAAALL
Douxie conjures up a spell to send that boy flying onto that Fire Titan.
Toby and Aaarrgh slam and hammer their way through fiery goons. Claire and Aja team up to take down the opposition, noting they should get lunch together sometime. Charlemagne tears through the enemies with his claws and wings. Krel and the Creepslayerz flail about and kick tail anyway.
Our heroes all cover one another and play off of each other’s strengths and it’s beautiful.
When Douxie’s about to get smothered by lava fists, there’s a flash of lightening and the monsters vaporize.
Douxie turns to see Zoe with a brigade of hedge wizards. Douxie’s immediately bowled over, smitten.
“About time you showed up...,” Douxie says, in a daze cause wow Zoe’s so pretty.
“Oh, you’ve got a lot of nerve --” Explosions. More lava monsters. Zoe sighs and pats Douxie’s cheek. “Ugh, focus, you big sap!”
The pair are unstoppable together, mowing down the lava monsters in powerful bursts of blue and pink.
DOUXIE’S EYES GO BLUE AND ZOE’S EYES GO PINK EPIC AVATAR STATE RINGS OF MAGIC AS THEY DECIMATE THEIR FOES WITH ROCK MUSIC BLARING YESSSS
And well, Douxie can’t help himself and gives Zoe a good long smooch after they’ve destroyed half of Bellroc’s army.
Toby in the distance : HOW LONG HAS THAT BEEN A THING?????
Archie just groans.
And meanwhile, Jim’s finally facing off with Bellroc. After having one of the most badass fights in the franchise, Jim comes out on top, skewering Bellroc in the stomach with Excaliber.
AND BOOM THEY DID IT GUYS EARTH IS SAVED.
....But not without great cost.
Toby’s been mortally wounded, crushed by the falling pieces of the Fire Titan. There’s the tearful, heartbreaking moment Jim has to say goodbye to his best friend, the one who was there with him through it all.
“We did it, Jimbo...We did it...”
Jim holds Toby in his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Claire holds Jim and weeps beside him. Aaarrgh is in hysterics but is calmed to pained whimpers by Blinky. The Arcadia Gang grieves, feeling the painful weight of losing the friends they held so dear....Nomura, Nari, and now Toby.
Time Skip/Montage
Douxie found a proper apartment in Arcadia. He keeps a potted plant with those distinct pink flowers, the flowers Nari loved, on his windowsill. Smiles softly at them every time.
Scenes of Mary with Darci as she mourns. Steve and Eli hanging out. Douxie and Krel jamming, Krel creating beats and Douxie riffing on his guitar. Aja and Claire going on that lunch date. Archie taking a nap on top of Aaarrgh. Walter playing classical music.
It’s taken a while, but Jim’s starting to feel a little bit better. Douxie, Krel, Steve, and Eli came over for some bro time. Seeing the pain in his eyes, Douxie gives Jim a hug.
The final scene is a picnic at everyone’s favorite spot in Arcadia with a single bench and an awesome view of the town.
Aja and Steve are cuddling. Krel and Eli play with a frisbee. Blinky, Aaarrgh, and Varvatos laugh around a table. Douxie and Zoe, holding hands, are having a lively chat with Claire. Jim serves up a huge plate of enchiladas.
Walter and Barbara announce their engagement. Everyone celebrates.
EMOTIONAL SPEECH VOICEOVER TIME.
Aja, Varvatos, and Eli depart back to Akiridion-5. Steve honks into a tissue. Krel pats him on the back as he waves to his sister.
Barbara kisses Jim on the forehead before going home with Walter.
Zoe kisses Douxie on the cheek and heads off.
Steve and Krel are the next to go.
Douxie, Archie around his shoulders, pulls both Jim and Claire into a hug before leaving.
Blinky gives Jim a hug. Aaarrgh nuzzle him, looking sad.
Jim and Claire hold hands and sit on the bench, gazing out at the town.
EMOTIONAL SPEECH VOICEOVER ENDS T_T
The End.

Ex- Five Hargreeves x Female Reader
Description: Six months after Five breaks up with Y/N, he finally finds her. (Also Y/N is Number Eight. She has body manipulation powers)
A/N: I wrote this for Wattpad, but I really want to post it right now! But I might start and imagine book on Wattpad soon. I just have to finish a few more stories. I love this so much and I hope you do too!!!♥️♥️♥️
Warnings: swearing (I think that’s it)
Tumblr media
Today felt like every other day. I woke up, I got ready for the day, and I'm on my way to go get coffee.
I just got my coffee and sat down when the bell on the door dinged, indicating that someone was here. Normally, I don't pay attention to it, but for some reason, I looked up. And I regretted it immediately.
Five Hargreeves.
My ex.
The love of my life who shattered my heart.
He seemed to notice me staring and looked over. As soon as his eyes met mine, he smirked.
I quickly looked at the coffee sitting in front of me.
Why is he here?
"Hello, Y/N."
That voice.
I lo-hate that voice.
I looked up to see him sitting on the other side of the booth with his cup of black coffee.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Having coffee with an old friend," he said.
"We're not friends," I said, "you made that very clear six months ago."
The smirk never left his beau- face.
I picked up my to-go cup and got up from the booth.
"Where are you going? I just got here."
"Getting away from you," I said. And with that, I walked outside.
I need to get home. I'm not going to let him ruin my day.
I walked up the stairs to my apartment. I unlocked the door and walked in.
"Bout time you showed up."
I nearly jumped out of my skin.
"Five, what the hell!?" I yelled.
"I need to talk to you," he said.
"Well, I don't want to talk to you," I said setting my keys on the table, "so please leave."
"Not until you let me talk to you," he said.
"I thought you said everything you had to say when you broke up with me."
He sighed and stood up, "You know as well as I do that we needed to break up. We fought all the time and neither of us was happy."
No, he wasn't happy. He caused all the fights.
‘We have to stop the apocalypse.'
'The apocalypse is more important.'
'I would, but I really need to focus on the apocalypse.'
Flashback
"Five, please just relax for a few minutes," I said as I laid on his bed and watched him write equations all around his room.
"I'll relax when I have this figured out, all right?"
I sighed and walked out of the room. I get it. We have to save the world. Make sure that billions of people don't die, but he seriously can't pay attention to me for just a few minutes!?
He acts like if he stops for even a second the world is going to end right then and there.
I haven't cuddled, hugged, or kissed him at all these last few days. I'm getting desperate. All I want is a minute of his time. I don’t think that it's too much to ask.
***
A few months go by and we successfully stopped the apocalypse. I used my body manipulation powers to calm Vanya down, so she didn't end the world.
She's fine now and she's learned to control her powers. She felt really bad about everything.
We rebuilt the academy and decorated it the way we all wanted. While we're figuring out how to put Grace back together, I volunteered to cook for everyone.
And that's what I'm doing now, cooking dinner for everyone.
"Smells good, love," Five said wrapping his arms around my waist.
I rolled my eyes and ignored him. Between stopping the apocalypse and rebuilding the academy, we still haven't really hugged, kissed, cuddled, or even really talked to each other.
Now that it's all done, he's acting like he didn't ignore me for three months.
"What's the matter?" He asked taking his arms away from my waist.
I put the burner on low and turned to face him, "what's the matter is that you basically ignore me for months and then act like we're okay!"
"We're not okay?" He asked.
I groaned, "No, Five. We're not okay!"
"Then talk to me!" He yelled.
"I tried like a billion times! And it was always the apocalypse, you working on the new academy, or you being too tired from working on the new academy."
"Those are pretty good excuses, Y/N!"
"I'm not saying they aren't!" I yelled, "I'm saying that you could've taken a break to hang out with me. Do you even know the last time we actually spent time together or had a loving moment together?"
"Last night," he said blandly.
"Last night? Oh, you mean when you got back late and climbed into bed when I was half asleep and gave me a kiss on the cheek?"
"Yeah."
"No, Five! That was a very nice gesture, but not at all what I'm talking about!"
"What are you talking about then?" He asked
Oh my God. Is he for real?
I groaned, "do you even love me anymore?"
"Of course, I love you! I just don't understand why you're so upset with me!"
"Are you fucking kidding me!?" I yelled.
"No, I'm not. What's your problem?"
"My problem is that my boyfriend can't seem to find a balance for me and for work. Work is always more important than me!"
"That's so not true!" He yelled.
"Oh really? Remember when I asked if you take a break from the equations for just a few minutes to hang out with me?"
"We're talking about the end of the world Y/N!"
"But you totally could've spared a minute for me! And a month ago when I wanted to spend time with you, but you had to help Luther and Diego get supplies for the academy."
"God, you're so needy!" He yelled.
"I'm sorry that I just wanted some attention from my boyfriend!" At this point, I'm in tears.
"Well, I'm trying to give it to you now and you keep pushing me away!"
"You pushed me away first!"
"I didn't push you away. You did that yourself!"
I scoffed, "FUCK YOU, FIVE!"
I stormed out of the kitchen and past our family (who was eavesdropping) and went upstairs to my room.
Is he seriously that ignorant?
I slammed the door and fell onto my bed crying.
***
Five and I haven't been the same since that day. We can't be in the same room as each other or else we argue.
Our relationship is falling apart. If he would've realized that he's the reason we're in this mess, we wouldn't be here.
"Y/N?" I looked up from my book to see Five.
"I can't do this anymore. I'm tired of fighting," he said.
"Me too," I said.
Is he finally going to apologize? Take the blame? Or at least some of it?
"I'm done," he said, "we're done."
What?
H-he's breaking up with me?
"What?"
"I'm. Breaking. Up. With. You." He said slowly.
He spatial jumped out of my room.
I sat there in shock. I never expected that we would break up.
I stood up and started packing my things. I don't know where I'm going, but I can't stay in the same house as him.
End of flashback
I moved into my apartment the next day. I hoped that me being out of the academy would make him see that he needed me. But he never looked for me. So, I gave up.
"Five, seriously. Leave," I said.
"No," he walked over to me.
"I don't want anything to do with you," I said.
He raised his eyebrow and walked towards me. I backed up until I hit the wall.
He smirked.
"Five-"
He cut me off by kissing me. He placed his hands on my waist and pulled me closer to him.
I admit it, I missed him. A lot. But he can't just show up and hope things can go back to the way they were before.
I carefully pushed him away from me, "you can't just show up here months after breaking up with me and kiss me."
"I miss you. A lot!"
"I miss you too, but you can't expect me to take you back that easy."
He sighed, "you're right and you don't have to take me back. Just please hear me out and then I'll leave."
"Fine," I caved.
"Everything was my fault. I put work before you and I pushed you away. I was stupid and I should've spent more time with you. And worst of all, I hurt the love of my life. I broke your heart and I'm so so sorry," he said, "I'll leave you be now. Just know, I love you more than anything and I really am sorry."
He kissed my head and spatial jumped out of the apartment.
I walked over to the couch and sat down.
Should I give him another chance?
I want to.
I love him and he was really sorry.
Screw it.
I grabbed my keys and walked out. I locked the door and ran down the stairs.
I knocked on the academy door and Klaus answered it.
"Oh. My. God. Y/N! You're back! Come here!" He pulled me into a hug.
"Hi, Klaus. As much as I would love to catch up with you, I need to talk to Five," I said.
"He's in his room. He's been so lost without you. He actually just got home not that long ago. He seemed upset."
I sighed, "we'll catch up later."
"I'll hold you to that," he said.
"Later Klaus," I said walking past him and running up the stairs.
I knocked on Five's door.
"Klaus, go away. I told you that I don't want to talk!"
"It's not Klaus," I said.
The door flew opened revealing Five. His eyes were red and bloodshot.
Awe.
"You left before I could say anything," I said.
He stepped aside to let me in. I walked inside and he shut the door.
I turned to him.
"What do you want to say?" He asked.
I walked over to him and took his hands in mine, "you're not the only one at fault for our break up. I should've been more understanding. You wanted to save the world and help rebuild the academy. While I just wanted you to pay attention to me. So, I'm sorry too."
He smiled, "So, will you take me back?"
I leaned in and kissed him.
"I take it that it's a yes."
I nodded and he leaned down to kiss me again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my waist.
He pulled away and rested his head on mine, "I love you."
"I love you too," I said.
"Does this mean you're moving back in!?" Klaus called from the hall.
Five opened the door to reveal all our siblings.
"Yeah, I'm moving back in," I said.
They all practically tackled me in a hug.
"Don't break her. I just got her back!" Five yelled.

four months [five hargreeves x reader]
a/n: okayy so i feel like i should mention that in my defense- it’s the first imagine i write in months so im really sorry if it sucks! i barely got my account back after so long, but  i just knew i had to post at least sumthen amirite??
summary: five finally decides it’s time to bring the crew back together in order to avoid the 1963 apocalypse, but the others feel like before that, you two need a moment to yourselves.
part 2
Tumblr media
“I’m here, Klaus!” You yelled, bursting through the main doors of what used to be a store, “What’s- what was so important?”
“Of course you’d be drunk.” An all too familiar voice said, trying to sound disappointed as a hint of amusement was hidden behind his bored tone.
You couldn’t believe your eyes when they fell on the boy before you, watching as he made his way down the big stairs towards you, as his siblings smirked down from behind the railing at the two of you.
It had been four months since you’ve seen Five Hargreeves.
Four months since he decided to try to time travel again and try to get you and his siblings out of 2019 before the huge chunk of the moon could wipe out all of you and the chances of saving the world would have definitely been lost.
You were not one of the Hargreeves siblings, nor you had any special powers. You just happened to be a very unlucky, fifty year old agent of the Comission who was assigned to join Five on his JFK task. Before you knew it, you were sucked into the portal he created, breaking the contract at once without even trying to fix the situation- not that you could complain much, you and Five may have had your differences, but if there was one thing the two of you agreed on, it definitely was that neither of you wanted the world to end in 2019, in spite of the Comission’s heavy attempts at keeping that on track.
Unfortunately, when Five tried to go back in time to his family, he miscalculated an equation, ending up in his thirteen year old body, you as well- since you were with him the entire time.
One thing led to another, and the Hargreeves siblings were reunited with their long-lost brother and acquainted with his riddled partner, but nonetheless tried to help you two in stopping the end of the world.
“You’re alive.” You breathed out, a frown on your face, as you slowly stepped towards the boy, trying to make sense of what was going on, even in your tipsy state.
After being transported back in time, you found yourself all alone in a dark alley in Texas, Dallas, in August, 1963. You stumbled into a nearby hair salon, trying to find a newspaper, a phone, anything that could help you track down your friends with whom you grew close with in such a short period of time. However, you could not believe your luck when Allison walked from the back once she recognized your voice.
She welcomed you into her new life with open arms, telling her new husband that you were her adoptive little sister. Raymond did not hesitate to make you feel at home, immediately accepting you as his “little sister-in-law”.
“Klaus and Allison did say you are not in the best shape.” Five’s mouth slowly curled into a soft smile, as his hands were rested in his pockets nonchalantly, waiting to see what would be your next move.
It was true- you were not. You had begun your day with a big glass of wine alongside Allison and Klaus, who seemed to be as moody as you when it came to their love lives.
As much as you hated to admit it, during the small time you’ve spent in 2019 with Five, trying to stop the world from ending, you caught feelings for him. Feelings which you had never thought you’d be able to feel at your age- even if your appearance said otherwise.
“Shut up.” You said, waving your hands in front of your face, “Just... shut up...”
Before Five could argue any further with you, you fought back the tears of joy forming into your eyes, feeling your legs move on their own towards the boy, as you jumped into his arms for the tightest, most loving hug you could give. Happy that you could not see his face, Five tried to fight back the grin on his lips, nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck- he loved how even in your teen bodies he was still taller than you.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, trying your best not to cry on his shoulder, as he took in a deep breath, with his arms around your waist. He was never one keen on physical affection, but after all that had happened, this was just what he needed. A long, loving hug from the girl he had fallen in love with.
“I’m starting to think he missed Y/N more than he missed us.” Klaus told his siblings, resting his chin on his hand, as Ben couldn’t help but nod in agreement;
“At least they’re sweet.”
“I’m honestly not that surprised.” Allison shrugged, taking a sip out of her flask.
“What is Y/N drunk for if she’s not gonna tell him how in love she is?” Diego frowned, already tired of the way you and his brother spent the past two weeks hiding your feelings.
“Wait... they’re not a couple?” Vanya wondered confused, since her amnesia was still pestering her.
“We were just as surprised.” Luther sighed, recalling the first time you and Five had popped into the backyard- you started bickering like an old married couple over whose fault was it.
Unable to hear the conversation between the siblings upstairs, you and Five carried on your long hug for another couple of seconds, before you pulled away, feeling bold due to all the alcohol coursing through your veins- even if you looked thirteen, you’ve had your plenty encounters with the magical substance.
“I know I am a bit drunk, but honestly- Klaus and Allison left me alone with a huge bottle of wine all by myself.” You confessed, resting your arms on Five’s shoulders, “Point is- I’m really happy you’re fine.”
“Kinda feels like you wanna say more than that.” Five couldn’t help but smirk, feeling in your tone how much you were trying to hold back.
Deep down you wanted to tell him how much you missed him, how much you wished he was there with you these past months, how many times you went to sleep with him in your mind, or how many times you woke up and he was the first thought to pop in. You wanted to tell him all the stuff that made you fall in love with him, and even all the stuff that irritated you about him. You wanted to tell him so many things, but... you didn’t.
You knew that was not the time for love. You could only hope to get out of this second apocalypse alive. And maybe then... maybe then you could tell him how much he meant to you.
“I am not that drunk, Mister Hargreeves.” You lied with a smile, bopping his nose.
Yeah, definitely after the apocalypse.
