"Just a second!" I called at the sound of the doorbell. I set down the whisk and the bowl of brownie batter I'd been working on, then quickly wiped my hands before heading to the door. I peeked outside to see who it was and found none other than Elijah Mikaelson standing there, dressed impeccably in a suit as always and with his hands behind his back. I smiled, trying to ignore my racing heart as I opened the door.
"Hi Elijah," I said. He smiled as soon as he saw me, and my heart thumped a little harder than before.
"Hello, Y/N. It's lovely to see you," he said. With that, he brought his hands out from behind his back and held out a rose to me, along with a nice manila envelope. "For you."
"Oh my goodness, thank you," I said, reaching out to take both items from him. He'd brought me an actual rose, while wearing a suit. Like a Disney prince.
"The letter is an invitation to a ball my mother has decided to throw. She asked us each to find a date, and I couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather go with."
"Oh my gosh, Elijah! I... I don't know what to say."
"How about... yes?"
I beamed, holding the rose and the letter a little tighter to my chest.
"Yes. Absolutely yes, I'd love to go with you. I'm so happy you asked."
He smiled. "Excellent. I'd offer to pick you up, but my dear sister beat me to that request. She wanted me to ask you if you'd like to go dress shopping and get ready with her in, say, an hour?"
"Absolutely," I replied with a grin. "Rebekah and I are due some girl time."
"Wonderful. Then I'll see you tonight."
Elijah reached out and took my hand, placing a soft kiss on the back of it before stepping away from me with a smile. My heart melted.
"Until we meet again."
With that, he turned and walked away. I watched him go, waving when he got into his car and gave me one last smile before driving off. I stood on my porch for a few more minutes after he'd gone, a dopey but happy smile on my face. I could already tell this night was going to be magical.
Rebekah showed up on my doorstep an hour later on the dot. She'd just finished asking Matt Donovan to be her date, and although she insisted she didn't have feelings for him I felt confident she was lying. Still, I didn't press her on it as we cruised the shops of Mystic Falls trying on every dress that caught our eye. Once we'd each found the one, we went back to my house to get ready.
"Oh. My. God. My brother is going to have his first heart attack in a thousand years."
Rebekah grinned at me as I twirled around the room in my literal ball gown, feeling just like a princess. We'd done each others' makeup and had gotten completely dressed, and now we were basically ready to go. After, of course, we properly hyped each other up.
"You really think so?" I asked, the heat rising to my cheeks. Rebekah nodded.
"I know so."
"Thanks, Beks. And Matt's absolutely gonna fall over at the sight of you, too."
"You're damn right he is," she said, flipping her hair over one shoulder and holding out her arm for me. "Now let's go, shall we?"
I smiled as I took her arm and the two of us headed out to the car. The last rays of sunlight still stretched over the town as we came to a stop outside Mikaelson Manor. Cars lined the street and every other available parking spot, the party already in swing as Rebekah and I arrived.
"I can hear your heart racing," said Rebekah with a smile as we walked up the steps side by side. I huffed.
"Great. Good to know my nerves will be loudly on display for any vampire in attendance."
"You don't need to be nervous."
She said the words as we came to a stop in the entryway, people pausing to look at us before carrying on with their evening. A little ways up the grand staircase in the middle of the room, I could see Elijah standing and talking to Klaus. When he glanced in my direction and first caught sight of me, however, he froze, mouth slightly open before a smile tugged its way onto his face. He said something to his brother, then started walking down the stairs and towards me.
"See? He's head over heels," said Rebekah, leaning in to whisper the words in my ear. I could hear the smirk in her voice. "I'll give you two some space."
With that, she disappeared into the crowd. A moment later, Elijah stood before me, looking even more handsome than usual (which I hadn't thought possible) in an immaculate tuxedo.
"I'm so glad you made it," he said, his words a bit breathless. He looked me up and down, his expression awed, and I smiled back at him. "You look... absolutely stunning."
"Thank you," I said, doing a little curtesy. Elijah grinned. "You look fantastic, too."
"You're very kind."
He paused, staring at me for another few moments, and despite the noise in the rest of the room I had a feeling he could hear my heart pounding. Finally, he held his arm out to me, grinning with a gleam in his eye.
"Come with me," he said. "I have a few people I'd like you to meet."
We made our way around the room, me holding tight to Elijah's arm as he at last introduced me to the rest of his family. I'd met Klaus and obviously Rebekah, but now I got to meet Kol, Finn, and his mother, too. I got the distinct impression his mother was up to something bad, and Elijah shared similar suspicions with me as we moved back into the crowd. But, for tonight, we decided to put every supernatural problem on hold and enjoy the magical evening together.
Finally, after a toast from the Original family themselves, it was time to take to the dance floor. Elijah immediately found me, offering a hand.
"May I have this dance?"
I smiled and took his hand. "Of course."
Elijah led me out onto the dance floor, twirling me into the dance's starting position amidst all the other couples. All kinds of different friends, foes, and otherwise interesting guests dotted the floor, but I ignored every single one of them. The rest of the room fell away as Elijah and I twirled into the first steps of the dance, eyes only for each other.
"I feel like I'm in a fairytale," I admitted, smiling as Elijah twirled me out and away from him before pulling me back into his chest. The look on his face sent warmth blooming through my chest.
"You certainly look the part of a fairytale princess."
I grinned, laughing a little and leaning my head on Elijah's chest. When I looked up again, I found him smiling at me, and in that moment I couldn't possibly have been happier.
"Says the literal Disney prince."
Elijah chuckled. "A Disney prince, hm?"
"Impeccable manners and honor, a true gentleman, handsome, dresses nice, and brought me a rose to ask me on a date? Yes. A Disney prince."
"I didn't realize I checked so many of the boxes."
"Easily."
"Well then, I'm very lucky to have found my princess."
I beamed at Elijah as the dance wound to an end, his arms wrapped tight around my waist as he held me to his chest. Slowly, just barely, he leaned down and glanced at my lips. I knew he wanted to take it slow for me, which I appreciated, but this was one thing I didn't want to take it slow on anymore.
"May I kiss you?" he muttered, voice low with only a few inches between us. I grinned.
"Hell yes."
"You know, I don't think Disney princesses swear-"
"Oh, shut up."
With that, I closed the distance between us and kissed Elijah, hard. He immediately returned the kiss, deepening it a little bit, although not too much since we were still in the middle of the dance floor. And just like in basically every Disney princess movie, in that moment, with Elijah, I knew I'd found my happily ever after.

Note
I get being upset about Bonnie not being invited to the Mikaelson ball, but here you go once again, blaming Caroline for a choice the writer's made, something she had no part of. People are getting weird AF with their anti Caroline stance and it's getting ridiculous.
Here you go once again, putting words I didn't say in my mouth.
Does it upset me that Bonnie wasn't invited to the ball? Yes. Does Caroline being there make me mad? No. Do I think she shouldn't have come? Yes, I certainly think so.
I complained about Caroline and Matt being there because plot wise it was absolutely stupid and it made no sense. They didn't add absolutely nothing to the events developing there, and their presence was completely unneeded: Caroline and Matt were there solely because of Klaus and Rebekah/delena. This was the moment the showrunners decided to start writing klaroline, exclusively and only because the fans liked their first scene together, so they decided to have her going to the ball just to have their "romance" developing, which made no sense for her at all;
Klaus literally tried to kill her a few episodes prior, he had Tyler bite her on her birthday leaving her on the brink of death and then he showed up to heal her. Where is her self-preservation? Wasn't she scared of him at all?
It's funny to me that she only accepted to go because of Rebekah inviting Matt. Did she thought he was in potential danger? Did she decide to go to try to protect him? I get she was worried about her friend, but this is slightly strange.
Matt was just there for Rebekah and to make Damon and Elena fight because of his altercation with Kol, nothing else, and his presence and the issue he caused wasn't that serious because they made up an episode later. Why would he go? He was a human on a house full of the oldest vampires to ever live, and he was aware of this. I'm aware Matt isn't the brightest person to walk the earth, but everybody knows a human shouldn't be around bloodthirsty vampires.
Again, just stupid. Caroline and Matt shouldn't have been at the ball, that's all. Elena and the Salvatore going made sense: she was the doppelgänger, Stefan had story with them and Damon wouldn't allow her to go anywhere without any of them.
Bonnie, however, had every single reason to be there:
She was Ayana's descendant.
Esther would want to meet a Bennett witch, seeing she was best friends with one once and she knew they were powerful allies.
She had been more close than anyone to killing Klaus: the fact that he didn't try to seduce her or try to kill her was ooc, especially because he befriended witches before klaroline came in.
Kol loved witches and this bitch knows everything about everyone. It surprises me that he didn't try to get her on his side or at least use her to try to take down any member of his family.
The Bennett bloodline is far more powerful in magic terms than any other family could ever be, their blood was needed for like half of the most powerful spells and the fact that not a single person thought about getting on Bonnie's good side is completely stupid.
What is ridiculous is that people dickride 3x14 to hell because of the fanservice. I love this episode, but calling out it's flaws it's not a bad thing.

No because Caroline keeping the dress that Klaus gave her through all those years and handing it down to her daughters and Lizzie keeping it tucked away safely in the top of her closet for a long time thinking it's the most beautiful dress she's ever seen so it obviously has to go on the most beautiful girl she's ever seen without knowing that it belonged to that girl's dead father is just so poetic and brilliant.

Klonnie week - Lovers to Enemies:
Tumblr media
Caught in the middle of a Mikaelson family dispute thousands of years in the making, how can Bonnie navigate being the object of Klaus’s affections and her responsibility to restore the balance of nature?
Esther quietly picked up on Klaus’s infatuation with the little witch, so she made it seem like it was his idea to invite her to their upcoming ball and he ran with it, personally delivering an invitation to the Bennett residence with an luxury diamond choker he picked out to adorn her lovely neck.
Everyone else found it odd that Klaus of all people would pursue a woman who could weaken him so easily but he was drawn to her strength, her ability to look him in the eye and tell him exactly what she thought with the power to back it up. Dominating a person with that much confidence was all the more enticing. Of course there was her beauty as well. Her hypnotic eyes, that if he stared too long at made him wonder if they were hazel or just green.
He couldn’t look away that night when she entered the foyer. The diamond of her necklace sparkled as did the glitter on the bodice of her black gown in the chandelier light. It fit her like a glove.
After greeting the woman of the house, Klaus stole her away to dance and drink the expensive champagne as he flirted flagrantly, flaunting his wealth and power as a means to impress her. Bonnie was agreeable with him as not to set him off, yet didn’t want to give him any wayward ideas about their relationship. She still didn’t really trust him but that night did show her a different side of the Original hybrid.
He brought her to his studio where he kept his artwork and supplies. She could see this other side of him in his paintings of nature and the way he talked about his art. This only made her feelings all the more complicated.
Esther underestimated her son’s affection for Bonnie but once she finally got Bonnie to herself, she brought her to their library. Bonnie was in awe of the seemingly endless shelves of grimoires from centuries of conquest and ancient texts from Esther’s coven. She praised the Bennett line for its power which she used to create the Originals in the first place but Bonnie already knew that. What she couldn’t predict is what Esther would say next, she asked for Bonnie to help her rid the world of her children.
“As witches it's our job to maintain the balance of nature. A Bennett witch helped me to create the imbalance and now, I need you to help me fix it, Bonnie.”
She didn’t say yes… but she didn’t say no either. However, Esther was confident that the task weighed on her mind.
Sure, she had her hang ups about Klaus but she didn’t want him dead. Though she’d never admit it outloud, she actually liked how he made her feel. He roused her defiance and tempted her to submit at the same time. Being with him was exciting and scary, like playing with fire.
Klaus found her thinking to herself alone on the balcony and quietly joined her. The energy between them had noticeably shifted as she kept her distance and only mustered a half-hearted smile when her eyes finally reached his.
His frown etched into his features as thoughts of their conversation filled his imagination. He needed to find out what Esther said to her.

MYSTIC BALLS
what if adrienne and klaus go missing during the mikaelsons ball?
I could imagine adrienne wearing such an old Hollywood look for her ball gown which klaus would buy for her. Hair curled and styled in side part. It would be everything .
WARNINGS: MENTIONS OF VIOLENCE!
“Kol invited the Bennett witch?” Adrienne asked, not bothering to subdue her amusement.
“You would’ve known if you and Niklaus hadn’t spent the entire afternoon confined to his room,” Elijah retorted, polishing his dress shoes for the upcoming ball.
He was irked that Adrienne and Klaus were not taking it seriously. Rebekah had left their family home, Kol was in the living room trying on a suit with Finn who he ignoring his youngest brother’s attempts at cracking crude jokes.
“Well your brother gives the best hugs, he hugged me so tight, my pearls popped off, so we had to spend the entire night looking for them. Isn’t that right love?”
Adrienne giggled through her explanation.
“Accurate recollection of our night together,” Klaus smirked, interlinking their fingers. “brother let my wife breathe she barely slept, not with our Pearl searching.”
Elijah grimaced, “Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous, let’s hope you put your antics to bed—“ his eyes rolled at their snickering, “when you will attend the ball.”
“Doesn’t sound like you’re giving us any choice brother,” Klaus narrowed his eyes.
Elijah hummed, “Good, because I’m not. We are starting an anew in our old town and we have to try.”
“Yay,” Adrienne fake cheered, much to his dismay. “Nik, do you have my dress?”
Klaus nodded, smiling down at her, “In a box in your room my love.”
Adrienne squealed, “Can’t wait, now Rebekah and I have booked a manicures and pedicures. Whenever she gets back from inviting Stefan —“
“— she’s actually inviting him?” Kol strolled into the room, wearing the suit that was being tailored. “I thought he was courting that Doppelgänger?”
“Elena Gilbert,” Elijah stated, readjusting his tie after settling his dress shoes to the side.
“He was dating her,” Adrienne reiterated.
“Trouble in paradise,” Klaus informed with a cheeky grin.
“The annoying one is interested in Elena too.”
“Damon?” Klaus smirked at his wife’s disgust. “Yes he’s relentless with his attempts to woo her.”
“So you have that in common with him,” Adrienne mocked.
Klaus’ face dropped.
Kol grinned, “She’s got your there nik.”
“Shut it Kol,” Klaus snapped, turning to him.
Kol mocked, “Shut it Kol.”
Elijah cleared his throat, “Your juvenile disputes will cease for the night Nikolai. The treaty we have still stands, it must stand.”
A mirthful glint swam in Adrienne’s eye, “A treaty I tricked the Bennett witch into signing. It declares that if they dare start a war with us, or directly or indirectly provoke us into retaliation, her powers will weaken and then they’re truly defenceless.”
Klaus stared at her in awe, “Isn’t she clever?”
“Thank you handsome,” Adrienne gave him a quick peck, ignoring the groans she heard, just before they all heard the front door open, “Oh that must be Rebekah. Won’t leave you too long Nik, I know how testy you get without me.”
“Be safe,” Klaus said softly.
She snorted, “Why would I with the hybrids you have clinging to my every step?” She strutted away, “Come on Bekah.”
The youngest Mikaelson brothers turned back to each other after the front door shut.
“Let her breathe for once Nik. That begs the question, have you ever peed on her to show all the other monsters in this town she’s not up for grabs?” Kol taunted, dropping back into a chair.
Elijah turned up his nose as Klaus glared.
“You’re disgusting.”
“I’ll ask Enny when she returns,” Kol muttered.
Klaus threatening stepped forward, “You won’t dare.”
“A thousand years old and you’re acting like children,” Elijah remarked as Finn strolled into the front room, surveying the childish scene.
“Like you’re any better Elijah,” the eldest Mikaelson murmered, clutching onto a book he was reading.
Kol and Klaus started laugh, the latter lowered himself onto a chair and picked up one of his sketchbooks.
“I am not a child.“ Elijah exclaimed, turning to him disbelief, “Finn.”
A smirk played on Finn’s lips, “That’s not what Clementine relayed.”
Kol and Klaus laughed even louder.
“She what?” Elijah was a picture of aggravation.
“Oh I cannot wait for this ball, maybe you should invite sweet Clementine Finn, she would certainly love to let loose, break free from our noble brother’s chain,” Kol taunted.
“Don’t start Nikolai.”
“Please start Nikolai,” Klaus smirked as further dispute commenced.
a/n:
I might write a full one shot of adrienne and the mikaelsons ball and her interacting with everyone. this is without esther as in my headcanon she’s dead. klaus was already a hybrid from the events of dark twisted fantasy. kol is a vamp-witch hybrid and the drama with the mystic gang isn’t decent compared to canon.

Also, I feel cheated for Kat Graham and Michael Trevino not being in the Mikaelson Ball episode. They deserved to serve some fancy dress looks and have weird chemistry with a Mikaelson.
But we all know why this didn't happen.

I hope you enjoy <3
Elena's POV
'Even while I was dancing with Damon I was thinking about Stefan. I miss him so much especially with being able to see him but he's Ripper and he doesn't feel anything. But that's the thing I know he does, I know he feels something. I just wish I could kiss him and make all of his pain go away.'
Damon twirled me around I bumped into someone else arms, I had placed my arms on there's by automatic, it felt familiar, and the only person I had ever done that with was Stefan. I looked up and gasped a little at him. His green eyes met mine, I felt my heart start to race a little. He smirked a little at this and said "Something wrong Sweetheart?"
I regained my composure and said "Sweetheart Is it now?"
"Hmm. It is." Stefan placed one of his hands on my back and the other on my open hand. He pulled us closer together, I could smell his colonge my eyes looked towards his lips I wanted to kiss him so badly, I just miss him so much. I thought he didn't care anymore but I'm not sure. There's times where it seems he does and other times where it seems he doesn't. I have to convince him to turn it on, I know he feels something, I have to save him, he Stefan's I'm talking about here.
"What's wrong Sweetheart?" He asked with a slight smirk as he twirled me around and drew me closer to him.
"You and your humanity." I felt heat rush to my face, I storm off to the balcony. I love Stefan but sometimes he can infuriate me and I'm just so frustrated I just want him back so much. It's just so hard seeing him knowing he's fighting a battle between caring and not caring. I want to break down and cry that's how much I want him back but I can't I need to put on a strong face and be strong that's why my Stefan would want me to do.
Even through he's quite I can still hear his footsteps. "Elena," He says so soft as if his humanity had been back on.
"I want you to do something for me,"
"What?" He asked confused.
I turn around and say "Kiss me and tell me you feel because I know you feel something your lying to me but most of all your lying to yourself because I know who you are inside your bones Stefan,"
"And what's that?" He said with bitterness in his voice.
"A good person, someone who would do anything for their family for the people they care about. And you know that's how we got in this mess. The person whose saved my life time and time again. Stefan I love you." I say pouring my heart out to him.
He Vampire speeds and kisses me like he's ever before. It felt like an eternity since we've kissed, it felt so good to be back in his arms. I felt such at ease and like all the worries in this world were gone no Klaus, no humanity to worry about, no Katherine, no supernatural caos or almost death experience just me and him. I warp my arm around his neck and his puts his hands on my waist. The kiss was soft but passionate and full of long and resolution especially since we've been apart so long. He put his other hand on my cheek and caressed it and pulled away and he put his forehead against mine.
He pulled away and looked at me in the eye caressing my cheek once again and said "It's back on Elena, you did it, you saved me." He said looking up at me smiling brightly. I smiled back at him and giggled a little.
"What with that giggle Princess?"
"You," I say, I've never been so happy.
"Elena, were going to go out there and dance and love each other like never before were not going to worry about Klaus and the originals or my bloodlust just you and me." He said as he have me a quick kiss and grabbed my hand heading towards the dance floor.
We walked to the dance floor not caring what others thought or what would happened. Not Klaus, any original, Damon non of them. All we cared about was having each other back together again. He swayed me around holding me gently but keeping me close with a somewhat strong grip and vice versa.
Even through a part of me doesn't care the other part of me Is scared what Klaus could do to Stefan for turning on his Humanity. Stefan must have heard my heartbeat increase he always knows. "It'll be okay Sweetheart, we'll get through this together. There's nothing wrong with being scared I am too. But we have each other that's all that matters." I look up at him and smile and rest my head on his chest as we sway.
Narrator's POV
Rebekah, Elijah, and Klaus stood there watching the pair closely.
"I believe a certain Vampire and Doppelgänger are together and that certainly Vampire has turned his humanity back on which is impossible." Klaus was angry to say the least. He broke the champagne glass in his hand.
"It's impossible! He couldn't have."
"Your a hypocrite you once said this kind of love never dies of course they could do it." Rebekah reminded him. "I may not like Elena but it's the truth."
"Niklaus, she is right and I'm going to tell you this now you will not do anything to them especially after all the hurt you've caused I will not allow even if that means stabbing you in the heart with a dagger as you have done to us." Klaus looked surprised at his brother.
"Know I am going to make sure the other Salvatore won't cause anyone including these any trouble." And with that Elijah walked off and Klaus alongside Rebekah watched the happy pair dance and laugh together like never before.
