Eddie was funny, and not in a try-hard way, but like genuinely and effortlessly made you laugh.

He was undeniably talented. For example, only a handful of people really appreciated how it took a creative brain to for all the D&D stuff he was into. Plus you’ve seen him play guitar a couple of times and even though you probably focused a little too hard on his fingers… holy shit — yeah — he knew how to strum that thing to create the most beautiful melodies you’ve ever heard.

And he was kind. Yes, underneath that hard shell exterior was a big ol’ softie. A caring boy with a heart way too big for this shitty little town.

In your eyes, Eddie Munson was all of those things and many more, but unfortunately you knew he would never believe you were being genuine if you told him any of that. Heart shielded for his own good.

So you kept your true feelings hidden and settled for being the metalheads best friend.

The same metalhead who — despite trying his best not to be — was secretly head over heels in love with you.

(If only the two of you knew how to communicate properly.)

There is a knock on your bedroom door and not even a split-second later, Eddie pops his head in, brown locks bouncing along.

“Your dad let me in,” he states and steps inside, “What are you up to?”

You take a second before responding just to look at him. Covered head to toe in a mix of black leather and ripped denim, he is completely out of place in your preppy pink room. It makes you crack a smile and Eddie raises a brow, then quickly wipes his face thinking the reason you’re staring is because he’s got the reminisce of his dinner left in the corner of his mouth or something.

“Homework,” you eventually answer and his eyes go wide.

“Shit, we had homework?”

“Eddie,” his name comes out almost like a whine, “You’ll never graduate if you keep forgetting we have shit to do.”

You’re up on your feet now and handing him a piece of paper and a black pen, before ushering him to sit at your desk.

“I’ll graduate,” he replies confidently, “I have you.”

To cover up the fact your stomach just flipped upside down, you roll your eyes and using one finger, you push your notebook towards him.

“Here,” you say, “Just don’t make it too obvious you’re copying me, got it?”

“It’s math, isn’t there like only one correct answer?” Eddie teases and you flick his ear.

“Oh shut up and get to writing, I don’t have all night.”

“Fiesty.”

Ignoring his last comment, you plop down on your bed and pick up your half-destroyed copy of Wuthering Heights. Although you couldn’t quite focus on the words in front of you. Instead, your gaze kept shifting to the back of Eddie’s head.

You’re not entirely sure how much time passes when he drops the pen and turns in the seat to look at you, all you know is you’ve read about five pages and not a single word made sense.

“I think one of your answers is wrong.”

You immediately place the book down and hop to your feet. Hovering over his shoulder, you trace his finger to the problem in question then to the number you had placed as your result.

He was correct, your answer was wrong.

Feeling proud Eddie picked up on that, you maneuver around the chair and carefully sit down in his lap. He freezes due the sudden close contact, but you don’t let him dwell on his feelings too much by handing him the pen once again.

“Show me.”

His chocolate-button eyes travel from the pen to your intrigued gaze.

“Show me, Eddie.”

He sucks his bottom lip in between his teeth, his best attempt to fight back a goofy smile bound to creep up on his features, and takes the pen.

Sitting comfortably in his lap, you observe as he slowly works out the problem on the piece of paper. His scribbles are piss poor, but his math is ace. Once he’s done, displaying the right answer with pride, your heart swells.

“Well, I stand corrected,” you announce with glee and tilt your head to look at him, gently pinching his nose between your index finger and thumb, “Maybe there’s hope for you yet, Munson.”

Eddie lets out a soft chuckle, meeting your gaze. “Like I said earlier,” he begins and places his hand on your waist, “I have you.”

Heat rushes to your face. Suddenly feeling nervous, you begin to fidget with the collar of his denim vest, focusing solely on the item of clothing because staring into the eyes of your best friend no longer seems like a good idea.

Eddie’s now thinking that he said something wrong. Yet his grip on you tightens, the feeling of your cashmere sweater against his skin comforting and soothing.

After a brief moment of borderline awkward silence, you clear your throat.

“Have you checked the next one?”

“No.”

You smack your lips together at his response and turn your attention to the piece of paper on the desk.

“Let’s do it together then,” you announce.

Smiling to himself, the metalhead agrees. He adjusts his hold on you, his arm making its way around you completely as he lifts the paper in front of the two of you. Exhaling, he begins to read the next problem aloud and with a hint of hesitation in his voice, Eddie continues to explain how he would solve it.

You don’t really recall the exact point your arm travels around his shoulders, fingers tangling themselves amongst his brown locks. Or when you incline towards him, too lost in the sound of his voice, and press the side of your face against his.

And the leather clad boy is shaking internally because the sensation of your body pressed against his is perhaps the most alleviating feeling he’s ever experienced. Truthfully, he couldn’t really remember the last time he was this close to someone and it actually meaning something to him — and unbeknown to Eddie, also to you.

“Eddie Munson, you’ve tricked me our entire friendship.”

He almost laughs. Almost. A tiny voice at the back of his mind prevents him from doing so, repeating ‘just be honest, just be honest, just be honest’, therefore instead, Eddie swallows thickly. His leg starts to shake, you can feel it bounce underneath you.

“Can I uhm,” he stumbles and pulls back, tilting his head to address you, “Can I ask you a question?”

You lift your hand, gently brushing his locks behind his ear.

“Sure, Eds.”

The metalhead briefly bites down on his bottom lip, taking a moment to align the thoughts currently circling his brain. There was so much at stake. This friendship with you, it meant the world, it was his everything. You were his everything. And what he was about to say, the words that were about to come out of his mouth, they could ruin what you guys had.

But looking at you, staring oh so deeply into your pretty eyes, he just couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“Hypothetically, what if in a friendship, one person thinks they would like to try being something more because they have all these uhm, all these feelings, but they just don’t really see themselves as… worthy.”

Knowing exactly what he was trying to convey yet unsure how to answer him immediately, you chew on the inside of your cheek.

“Well,” you exhale softly, “I think honesty is the best policy, always, even in a hypothetical situation,” you say and offer him an encouraging smile.

Eddie nods at your words. His heart is now hammering inside his chest, and could potentially explode at any second, especially as you caress his cheek with your thumb.

“What if that person is scared?” Eddie asks after a moment, before quickly adding, “Hypothetically, of course.”

He’s too sweet for his own good, you think and grab onto the collar of his denim vest.

“Eds,” you begin and he arches a brow, “you know you’re my favourite person in the entire world, right? Cross my heart, I would be so fucking lost without you,” you confide and he hopes he’s not blushing — (he is).

You proceed to poke his chest. “But I swear to fuck, if you honestly think that you’re not good enough for me—”

Letting out an awkward laugh, the metalhead grabs your finger.

“We were talking in hypotheticals,” Eddie defends, interrupting you.

You can’t help but roll your eyes. “Okay, whatever you say.”

“Okay.”

The air suddenly feels… different. Eddie’s gaze searches yours and the longer he stares, the wider his smile grows. A couple of minutes pass and the curly haired boy is grinning like an idiot.

I’m in love with you, Eddie thinks before asking, “Am I really your favourite person in the world?”.

Instead of answering him immediately, you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him into a comforting embrace. Eddie sinks into your body instantly. His hands make home on your waist once again and he takes a moment to inhale the sweet smell of your lavender perfume.

I’m in love with you, you think to say but decide to bite your tongue, whispering instead: “As if you even have to ask, Eddie Munson.”

Hello all we’ve had an amazing string of Chenford and Tim/Lucy backstory goodness. S2 is very kind to us. This ep it tapers off a bit still have some Chenford but Rachel is re-introduced back into this and is the driving force of it. I mean with all the eps we just had you forget he’s even dating her tbh haha as I’ve said all season Rachel’s moments with Tim all have their purpose. Including this one. I would apologize for the lack of content but its not my fault LOL This will be much shorter than the last 4-5 have been ha but let’s get started :)

2x15 Hand-Off

Their scenes start off with the war bag room. Lucy is asking if Tim is nervous to meet Rachel’s dad? Tim doesn’t seem in the least phased by it. Lucy tells him it’s ok if he is just a hair scared. That Rachel adores her dad so much would make sense. Tim shrugs it off, thinks he has an in with him being a cop for 30 years. Lucy scoffs and says yeah but it was in a place that had 2 stoplights haha Tim doesn’t let her deter him and says a cop is a cop. LA or Mayberry.

This where it gets really adorable. First off I love his cute little smile when he says Mayberry. I think that show must be a good memory for him. One of his few in his childhood. He also seems so proud of himself for the reference. It goes way over her head sadly. Lucy is beyond confused and not getting his reference in the slightest. Cracks me up she gets him in so many ways but not this one LMAO. Tim gives up and says never mind…

They’re in the shop starting their day when Lucy asks where he’s taking her dad? Says it can’t be too fancy or he's gonna look like he is showing off. But he is visiting so a possible celebrity sighting wouldn't hurt. Tim delivers his answer proudly. Lucy approves (you know he secretly wanted that approval) He’s learned a thing or two since her birthday. Tim’s smiles when Lucy says she likes it. I love that its too cute. He seems pretty proud of his choice and the fact that she likes it. You know he's happy she isn't giving him any crap for his plans. He is a little more confident in his choice this time around than he was with her birthday gifts.

Rachel ends up calling Lucy interrupting their little moment. Tim is all cute and smiles until the phone call ends. Lucy has decided to recruit them to find her dad’s missing suitcase. Naturally they both see this situation differently. Lucy sees it as an opportunity to bond for Tim, to get off on the right foot with her dad etc. All Tim can see is the low solve rate and her father being disappointed in him cause of it.

Clearly impressing her dad is more important than he lead on…because well Tim. Lucy god love her thought she was doing it to help him. Always has his best interests at heart. Even when he so vehemently disagrees. All he can think about now is how they're not going to find it. That he will let her dad down before he can make a good impression. It’s awkward after that and Lucy goes on about their bread LMAO Her nervous rambles as Tim shakes his head. I love our girl so much.

Tim could not be cuter walking up to meet Rachel. Also his smile as Lucy and Rachel's dad get reacquainted. Then the awkwardness kicks in when they shake hands. Tim is doing his best to be respectful but is already striking out with him. The inner T.O. coming out in him. He tells Colin the chances of finding his suitcase is low. Crashing and burning fairly early into this intro.

Her dad bites back that a cop should have beat integrity and such. Tim says it’s easy to when you have 9 criminals LOL Oh Tim. Her dad says he’ll crack the case for him then by driving around. Tim's need to prove himself kicks in. He tries to fix it by inviting him into the shop. Says they can cruise around since he saw the guys face. Not doing so hot my love….

Lucy jumps in to help Tim. Invites Colin into the front seat says she can sit in the back while they drive around. Lucy makes sure to check back with Tim. She knows he isn’t happy about any of this. From being roped into it and now having to ride around with him. The need to prove himself is very real. Their body language in this scene cracks me up. Complete antithesis. She is taping her hands against her belt happily. She see's this as positive thing where all Tim is feeling is dread. You can sense his discontent.

What also cracks me up about this scene is it’s them in a moment. Lucy his sunshine human personified telling him to be positive, when literally that’s the last thing he wants to be LOL. Grumpy and Sunshine at their finest in this moment. His face in the last gif I’m dying. He’s so moody atm and her sunshine attitude about the whole thing is too funny. You can also see the panic on his face. We all know his deep rooted issues with his own father. To have to try and prove his worth on the spot to someone else’s not his idea of a good time…

The silent communication continues between these two. Just look at them above. They’re out looking with Colin and Tim says his spiel about LA. Her dad puts him in his place a little and Tim knows it. I love him checking in with her in the mirror. Lucy acknowledging him before he returns to the convo. It’s the little things I love so much with them. She does side with Tim in the fact this guy could be long gone.

Colin is strong in his resolve this guy is still around. He is so sure they're going to find him. They roll up on a taco spot where he spots the guy. Tim looks impressed. They confront the man and his partner jumps Lucy. She handles herself like a BAMF while Tim chases after the first guy. Colin clothes lines the guy fleeing impressing Tim further. It's a pretty good action sequence.

My fav kind of shot tall and smol in this scene. Why do I love their height difference so much? haha Whenever I see it just makes me smile. Colin is letting them know about how back in his town they didn't have partners. If you couldn't do the job alone you shouldn't be doing it. He forgets LA is crazy populated no way people could do this job solo. He really should be impressed by their dynamic together. They are alway so amazing to watch in the field together.

They look beyond adorable as they smile and look at each other after he says his partner bit. Lucy is happy she’s being called his partner and not just his rookie. (We all know she is more than just his rookie hehe) Tim is just looking proud she is his partner. God they cute.. They handled that whole takedown perfect together. They are so in sync with everything they do. From this arrest to this moment. I love them sfm. They are simpatico in the field it's a thing of beauty to behold really.

Colin finally gives Tim some praise. Something I think he wasn't expecting to get at all. He lets him know what a good cop he is. Starts listing off all the reasons why as well. Tim is all happy until he says ‘Just not for my daughter.’ Poor Tim looks crushed. I know he feels like he did all the right things and is still in the wrong with Colin. Seems like a backhanded compliment at this point. Praising him but also saying it's why he isn't right for her. What a gut punch to him. To praise him then use that as the very reason why he shouldn't be with her.

Tim defends himself and what he does passionately. Which I find very attractive. Something about the way Tim says ‘Sir, It’s every cops duty to’ *fans self* sexy af the way he wears his pride on his sleeve about his job. Yum Tum for me. Colin doesn’t chide Tim for wanting to go out into the darkness. That he was just like him. Putting the job first. Above his wife and above his daughter. The toll it took. He doesn’t want his daughter left alone in the dark. I get it but damn way to crush Tim.

This moment shows why Lucy is meant to be his person. She’ll join him in that fight in the dark. They’ll be together battling the crazy side by side. I.e. the s5 finale and the way they were a power couple in battle. Also why Rachel would not have worked out for him in that regard. The biggest take away from this scene is she’s not Lucy. Tim lays aside his career and job for her. He doesn't blink. You see in his defense he doesn’t say he would stay for Rachel instead of going out into the night. Only that it’s a a cops duty to....

I said earlier his scenes with or about Rachel has purpose. This is one of those moments. In this instance it’s to show why Lucy is his end all. The things he would be willing to do for her vs what he would do for Rachel. I mean hell look at this season. What he’s already done for Lucy while dating Rachel. Gave up a promotion to stay with her and the influence she has on his life. One of many things he does and will continue to do for her. Because when it’s the right one all the stuff Rachel's dad is posing at Tim right now doesn’t matter.

Tim tries one more shot at changing Colin’s mind. It’s then one of the main reasons her father doesn’t want her with Tim gets revealed. She might have Huntington’s disease. It’s hit his whole family. Rachel refuses to get tested to see if it’s hit her too. You can see Tim struggling really hard with this information. Clinging to the possibility it might not happen to her.

Colin then says once again that if she gets it she’ll need someone who will stay. Someone who will will give up everything to take care of her. That Tim isn’t that person. Not for Rachel he isn’t. We all know if it was Lucy he wouldn’t hesitate. There is hesitation in him during this. Can't blame him in the least. It's a lot of intense information to take in at once. This is once again the difference between Rachel and Lucy.

Tim of course goes to his safe space about this immediately. They’re talking about it at the station together. Lucy has looked up the disease and all its symptoms. I love him going right to her with this. Needing her perspective and take on this whole thing. Lucy had no idea Rachel might even have this. So she’s playing emotional catch up herself. Which unfortunately doesn't give Lucy enough time to advise him like she normally would since she is reeling herself.

Rachel meets up with them and blows up cause she finds out they both know. That her father has let them both know her secret. Lucy says how sorry she is. Tim tries to be sweet and have them talk about it. She refuses says it’s her life not his or her dads. Then takes off. Tim looking at Lucy like a wounded puppy. Hurts my heart to see him brushed off like that.

Rachel comes to find him afterwards. He drops everything to talk with her. He is incredibly sweet and understanding about why she hasn’t taken the test. Says he knows his job is unknown as well. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to do it every day. Tells her he’s not going anywhere when she gives him an out if he wants it. Such an honorable and good man. Ugh my heart. I adore this man so much. I loved getting this insight into him by watching how he is with her. How he is in a relationship. Pre-Lucy. When he loves he loves VERY hard. I truly love Rachel for what she did for Tim post-Isabel.

We get to see how loyal, loving and tender he is when he’s with someone. He always makes that person #1 Makes my heart happy to see him happy. It’s not with Lucy right now but it’s what he needs to get there. They both are so not ready for what is to come with them yet. So for now him being with her is tolerable haha Honestly more so than Ashley but I have my thoughts behind her as well but we will dig into that when we hit s4. The difference between Lucy and all the other women he dates is Lucy putting him first we see that in S5 and honestly in general before they're together.

It's why he continually gravitates back towards her. She gives him what he's been denied his entire life. Being put first. Her thinking of him before herself. She did that in this episode. Tim didn't see helping Rachel's dad the way Lucy did. Her saying they'd help out was her way of helping him out. To get Tim off on the right foot. Was her way of taking care of him. It's why their pre-couple time is so important before they dive into what we have in s5. Beautiful trust and love is built there long before they're a couple. Anyways before I ramble on anymore about them I'll stop haha That’s all she wrote for them in this one not a lot but enough to build a review out of it. Ha

Side notes-Non Chenford

Lopez and Grey’s SL was deep and emotional. Poor Angela her first day on the job someone dying in her arms. Grey having it be his partner. Going to a parole hearing to deny this man further freedom for what he did. Rough.

Nolan’s SL was amusing with Seth green and all.

Jackson catching a killer by accident with Smitty too funny.

Tbh, he’s got a slight sense of pride

He’s confident in your abilities

He knows that you’re capable

You can take care of yourself in a fight, and he’s proud of u

That said

He is also mildly concerned?

He doesn’t enjoy seeing you get hurt on the rare occasion when it happens

He also doesn’t verbalize this

Or express it at all, really

After all, it isn’t too much of a concern for him

So he watches your back from the sidelines

Just in case

And of course

He will fight at your side

He may also lecture you on fighting techniques of old

While you’re fighting

Which would be annoying if it was anyone else

But he’s got the voice to make it work

And he’s cute, so

He gets away with it

He also points out that specific things that you do while fighting have a historical precedence

Which is always neat

Zhongli will also tell you fun facts about your weapon

Anyway, once you’re done fighting he’s like

He’ll also check you over for injuries

And he’s so subtle about it that you don’t even notice

It’s like he can see through you, it’s wild

You kinda love it

Especially because when he’s done, he’ll offer you his arm and take you out for food

(say thank you to childe and/or hu tao, bc you know zhongli isn’t actually paying lmao)

She’s so into it

She loves watching you fight! She loves seeing how strong you are

Every hit you make, every strike, every movement

It all makes her more excited

She’s basically bouncing up and down, it’s adorable

She’ll absolutely cheer you on

And!

She’ll absolutely fight beside you

She loves fighting with you

She loves that you have each other’s backs

If you’re in a fight, she will 100% jump in with you, she isn’t afraid to do so, she’s your fuckin partner in romance and on the battle field

And she will kiss you mid-fight if you let her

She’s not kidding with that voice line about trading tactics

And there’s only so much he can do to keep you safe, anyway

Especially if you’re the type who enjoys fighting

Ahh I love, love, love that you got to work with him/meet him! Please share more if you can. I love that his energy in person is so amazing and infectious….Louis wouldn’t be Louis if he wasn’t loud! Sorry to hear he said he wasn’t feeling good. Was that ‘up too late the night before’ not feeling good or was he jet lagged do you think? Also, what sort of stuff does he do backstage before the show? Is he just hanging and chatting with people, resting, having food? Does he have any time chilling on his own or is he always with his crew? Does he seem nervous before his shows? Heya anon, don’t apologise for heaps of questions!! I love a good chat!! But I’ll break this down a bit so I can be more coherent lol. Also, I wish there was more that I can tell you, but… yeah. You know.

1. He was SO loud hehe. I was sitting in an office just down the hall from him and my god, the man doesn’t stop laughing and yelling. I love it! Such a bundle of energy, and such a lovely voice to listen to. I literally got goosebumps when I heard him start talking and I was like eeeeeeeekkkk I know for a bloody fact it’s him. He’s so loud and giddy!

2. I think it was probably a bit of both, and probably just tired. I’m not entirely sure, sorry!

3. After they did soundcheck (which went on for a long while, they’re true professionals), I didn’t hear louis for a while so I think he was in his own dressing room just relaxing and spending some time by himself before such a massive night. I think he really likes to recharge before becoming extroverted again. I’m not sure what exactly they were doing, but louis came out to hang with them (supports, band, crew) an hour/couple of hours before doors, and it sounded like drinking games tbh HAHA. They were cheering each other on and carrying on loudly and so yeah, I reckon just games and shots and having fun. You could smell the cigarette smoke down the hall hahahah.

4. I’m sure he does spend time getting himself pumped up before a show, and I think he’s always gonna be a bit nervous beforehand. But when we saw each other in the hall as he was walking out to side of stage, he exuded this incredible confidence. Had his shoulders back, head high, and said thank you to the venue security staff. It was very powerful, and you could feel it.

5. There was no one involved in any stunt there, and I wouldn’t bring this up if he was there, but I can sadly confirm H wasn’t there. I’m 100% sure of it, because there would’ve been a lot more security/privacy if he was. That venue (both backstage and FOH) is very open and there isn’t any space for H or anyone to watch and be hidden. There just isn’t. Even side of stage wouldve been impossible to hide from fans, and backstage is a big shared space with multiple people who are too external to have seen that, and everyone would’ve been required to sign extensive NDA’s before the show. And I didn’t hear him talking, and I was right next to the artist dressing rooms. But yeah, the venue layout just doesn’t allow for that kind of privacy, unfortunately. Unsure about the other two venues, but he wasn’t there last night. Just louis, his pals, his band/crew, managers, and support acts!

For the record, two words were, in fact, all it took for me to develop the biggest crush in the history of all crushes on Eddie Munson. I didn’t tell anyone about it. Well, I told Chrissy, of course, who was less than shocked at my confession.

“Henderson, you’ve been staring all doe-eyed at that boy since that day outside the cafeteria. You can’t hide shit from me.” She laughed. Chrissy was never one to judge, me or anybody else. She listened intently as I went on and on about Eddie’s big brown eyes and curly hair. Most importantly, she helped me make a plan to ask him out.

Eddie was the leader of Hellfire, a club for nerds who played Dungeons and Dragons. He was so clearly passionate about the game and Chrissy was certain that having a shared interest would be sure to win him over. So, she encouraged me to join Hellfire. Though a self-proclaimed nerd myself, I had never played D & D before in my life. Luckily, I knew someone who had.

My little brother, Dustin was in middle school and played D & D almost every weekend with his friends. We’d always been close, but in the last year since our dad passed, we’d become even closer. So I thought for sure he could teach me to play.

“So, you want to learn how to play D & D because…?” Dustin eyed me suspiciously.

“Can I not take an interest in your hobbies? Isn’t that what a good big sister does?” I said innocently.

“Okay? But last time we ask you to play you said it was dumb and unnecessarily complicated.”

“Please, Dusty? Just teach me how to play, okay?”

Dustin ultimately obliged, though not without several sighs. However, when the time came for me to actually go up to Eddie and ask to join the club, I couldn’t do it. Maybe his confident personality made me nervous. Or a mixture of Ashley and Stephanie’s now daily taunts and my own stupid brain messed with my self-confidence. The bottom line is, I didn’t join Hellfire or talk to Eddie.

“Lizzie, just go talk to him. He’d be stupid not to like you.” Chrissy had assured me. No matter what anyone said, Chrissy was always the most supportive and believed in me more than most people believe in anything at all and definitely more than I believed in myself. No matter how hard I tried though, I could never bring myself to see the person that Chrissy saw so clearly everyday in the mirror.

“It’s no use, Chrissy. He’s already made fun of enough. He doesn’t need a cow in his club, too.” I argued.

“Lizzie, you and I both can tell he’s not like that. He doesn’t think that.”

“He doesn’t, maybe. But they do.” I said pointing at the popular table. “What if I just make things worse for him?”

Over the next three years, my crush on the metalhead never went away. Chrissy kept trying to convince me to at least talk to him, but I always made excuses, convincing myself that it was better this way. Sophomore year it was “He’s a senior. He’s graduating. He doesn’t need some kid girlfriend tethering him to this town he clearly hates.” When Eddie had to repeat his senior year the next year I said, “He needs to focus on his grades so he can graduate. I’ll just be a distraction.”

Now it’s senior year. Eddie is a senior once again and I’m about out of excuses.

“What’s the excuse for not asking Eddie out this year, Liz?” Chrissy chuckles at me as we drive towards Hawkins High for the first day. I roll my eyes dramatically at her, avoiding her question. The truth is, the real excuse is the same as it has been every year. What if I’m just not good enough?

Ashley and Stephanie may have long since graduated, but their influence had not. Not only did the tiny voice in my head bear their grating voices, but several of the popular kids still enjoyed taunting me for sport. That included Jason, Chrissy’s boyfriend of nearly four years who, quite honestly, gave me the creeps. He’d never bully me in front of Chrissy, of course, but he’s definitely not the “nice guy” everyone seems to think he is.

As Chrissy parks, I see Jason make his way towards us. Again, I roll my eyes. “Uhhhgggg. Hear comes the Golden Boy. Honestly, Chrissy when are you going to break up with him already?”

Chrissy laughs. “As soon as graduation is over and I’m done having to be ‘Queen of Hawkins High.’” Chrissy didn’t even like Jason. She never did. Her mother, however, had this dream of Chrissy being the pretty, popular cheerleader dating the basketball star and, honestly, life was better at home for Chrissy if she just played along. So she did, even if that meant pretending to be in love with the poster boy for privilege. At least she still refused to get rid of me, a fact I am continually grateful for.

As Jason approaches, I find it harder and harder to keep my face from betraying the true disgust I have for him. So, I excuse myself.

“See you at lunch, Chrissy?” I say as I start to hurry to first period. “Always!” She responds. We link pinkies like always and part ways.

As I’m rushing into Mrs. O’Donnell’s first period English class, I’m not particularly paying attention to where I’m going. I crash full force into a figure wearing a denim Dio vest over a leather jacket.

“Easy there, Henderson.” He says. “English class isn’t going anywhere. Trust me, I definitely know.” A deep brown eye winks at me as he speaks and I know I’m in deep.

I ship Loona and Octavia (Loovia?)

That being said, I don’t care if they end up canon or not. I’m not all that invested in this show tbh. I’m only here because Barrett Wilbert Weed is so !!!!! And it baffles me how fucking dumb the fandom is about this ship because they think it gets in the way of their OTP. Last I checked, compared to its literal parent ship, Loovia is the more healthier of the two. Isn’t that what antis want? Healthy shit? In Hell?

The fandom is against this ship for several very stupid reasons:

No one can agree on Loona’s age (Some say 18 but Viv said in a stream she’s 22?) and Via has been stated to be 17. There could be some age gap there, from as small as 1 year to as big as 5, so it’s “grooming” because they met when Octavia is a minor, and “pedophilia” either way.

Solution: they just won’t date until Octy is 18??

First of all, simply meeting someone when they're underage does not make it “grooming.” Second, pedophilia is the specific attraction to PREPUBESCENTS. We’ve seen Via as a child. Third, and most importantly, all children are minors but not all minors are children. If we just jumped from Child to Adult, what’s this “Teenager” thing? Stop exaggerating, it’s not that bad. And last, 5 years is nothing between adults. I’m not surprised it’s mostly minors squawking about how even a 2-year gap between adults is “pedophilia.”

It’s incest/pseudo-incest b/c they’re basically stepsisters!

For it to be incest, they’d have to be blood-related, like Stolas and Via, and they can’t be. Even without knowing Loona’s adopted, there’s no fucking way Blitz could be her biological dad, not even if they breed like Pokémon and the baby will always be the same species as the mother. (and if that’s the case, why does Octy take so much after Stolas?)

For it to be pseudo-incest they’d have to at least consider each other family and at best they’re just friends right now. Also to make this claim, you’re also ignoring one very crucial piece of information: Blitz and Stolas are not married. And ON THE TOPIC OF STOLITZ

Stolitz is ENDGAME!

Stolas and Blitz started their adult relationship as AN AFFAIR. They were USING each other, Blitz for the Goetia Grimoire, and Stolas for basically everything else since he sure as fuck wasn’t attracted to Stella. Sex, love, happiness, everything he lacked with Stella, he sought for in Blitz. If you ship this, you’re saying adultery is fine with you, right? It doesn’t take you out of the story for it to exist. Sure, Stolas is divorcing Stella now, but that doesn’t change the fact that when his and Blitz’s relationship began, Stolas was still married to Stella, and Blitz was trying to rob him. There’s Good Cheating and Bad Cheating, I guess, but it’s still Cheating.

Meanwhile, Loona and Octavia have a genuinely heartwarming meeting. They’re two lonely souls bonding over shared parental issues and looking out for one another. It’s legitimately healthy, and a great foot to start off on in terms of a budding relationship, whatever they end up having. They weren’t trying to get away from their sad childhoods, or using each other for anything, unlike their fathers. Loona showed a soft side to her we've not seen as far as I know (I’ve only seen like 4 episodes lol), and Octavia found someone she can both confide in and relate to who’s as directly involved in the daddy drama as she is (that is to say, not very). And people are against that? Are y’all okay?

Again, the main ship in this show is between two males which started off as adultery from one partner, and intent to commit burglary from the other. God forbid women have anything.

In case you forgot, this show is set in HELL. It’s an ANIMATED SHOW set IN HELL. A fictional representation of Hell since we literally can never know what it actually is like and live to tell the tale. Sinning is the name of the fucking game.

For all y’all are trying to purify Hell, how can you hate one of the more wholesome relationships? This show clearly stated it’s for mature audiences, why are there so many goddamn brat kids here?

Where do l even begin we have so much to go over!

First off I TOTALLY KNEW THAT SNEAK PEEK WAS A DREAM I DEFINITELY WASNT IN SHAMBLES 🤧 I’m hoping this dream isn’t a premonition if what’s to come.

Their argument, as soon as Satoru said "as a mother," I did a facepalm and knew he was about to say some fucked up shit. He definitely dropped the ball and didn't have to come at Y/N like that, only for him to ignore her after? I'm so glad Jerry put him in his place holy shit. He has his demons, they both do but... is he really surprised? His unfortunate childhood was the cause of his but he's the cause of Y/N's trauma. Especially when he punished her for it exactly the same way he did when he chose Utahime? Ghosting her while she sat there, waiting for him to choose her after placing trust in their relationship. My heart really broke for our girl and I’m glad that she at least had Jerry to advocate for her. Y/N is out of her element and has all the odds against her living in his estate since no one but Jerry could talk to Gojo like that and get away with it. BEST NANNY AND ID DIE FOR JERRY! He’s the real MVP of the chapter tbh.

His father is a piece of work, if the work in question acted and smelled like shit. When Satoru realized after Y/N was unknowingly repeating words his mother probably told his father I could see it really broke him. At that moment he probably felt like his father and while we know Gojo is nothing like that man, the thought of becoming his father probably terrifies him to pieces. I wonder why Gojo’s mother left without him, I’m sure his father would’ve been much more upset since his heir would’ve been taken from him if she took him but I wonder if Gojo looks at it like abandonment or if he understood why she did what she did and didn’t blame her for it. Children are more observant than we give them credit for and they know when things aren’t going well so I wonder how kid Gojo saw the entire thing. We really only got Jerry’s interpretation of the events since Gojo doesn’t talk about it. I hope he does, maybe it’d help if he opened up to Y/N more.

Satoru showing his jealous side had me giggling like he was pretty fucked up for sending that guy overseas just because he got jealous but I just know he looked hot doing it, so 🤭 (I'm ignoring the fact it's a huge red flag that he gets annoyed and jealous when Y/N interacts with any man that's not him or Jerry)

Now Yuri.. one thing about roaches is they don't fuck off and are always around when they're not wanted. This entire situation is so messy, Satoru was an idiot for letting her get that close but can we really blame him? I hate to say it but she seemed to make him feel a bit better when Y/N was presumed She even stopped one of his attempts. I really wonder how Satoru is going to fix this because she seems REALLY confident in her ability to hurt Y/N and Keisuke. Maybe there's a rat amongst them that helps her out? I feel like her texts are pretty damning evidence that she made it up but is the trust that's currently between Y/N and Satoru gonna be enough for her to believe him? Knowing Satoru, he probably won’t show her anything and try keeping her as far away from everything as he can. I’m hoping he learned his mistakes about hiding everything from Y/N because look what that got them last time! But maybe it’s not that simple, knowing that bitch Yuri it won’t be. Is Yuri so delusional that she genuinely things she'll have her happily ever after if she separates them ESPECIALLY AFTER THREATENING HIS SON? I hope she gets what's coming to her but I know she wouldn’t act out her plan without thinking it through. It seems like her goal now is more like just getting rid of Y/N completely and not just trying to get Satoru, which i’m sure she still wants, but it seems she’s more driven by her hatred of Y/N more than anything. This truly seems like a test about the strength of Gojo and Y/N’s relationship more than anything. Their growth as both people and as partners will truly be tested.

Can Y/N and Gojo just fuck without Naoya, Hiro and Yuri plotting some ominous villain type shit texts after? LEAVE THEM ALONE (the smut was so GOOD, I love the fact he worshipped her body, it's been about 3 months and I know that people don't always bounce back so it was just really nice to see some post partum body worship) You already know Gojo made up for their year apart that entire day, the both of them were STRESSED 🤭

I adore their domestic scenes, I love that during the previous chapters, Y/N seemed wary to make plans too far into the future with Gojo because she didn't even know if she was going to stay with him. Now she agreed to another kid with him if Keisuke ended up being a Daddy's boy. I sincerely hope they all make it to see the results of this bet. They’ve been through so much they’re due an early retirement at this point. But knowing August nothing is that simple. 🤭 Y/N also openly acknowledging Gojo as her husband and wearing the clothes he got her? I just know he was screaming and jumping for joy on the inside. All that’s left is the ring 😭

What I do know, is that Gojo would rather die than lose Y/N. I can’t imagine he’d comply with Yuri’s demands and he’d gladly lay his life on the line to protect his family. Maybe that’s how it’ll go, if they do a family photo shoot or if Y/N gets pregnant again after their day long session and those will be the only things she gets from Gojo at the end 😭 oh I’m making myself sad as if that’s what’s gonna happen but I don’t even know LOL

Gojo went really mad when he implied that y/n was not a good mother. He is just too protective of her and Keisuke but he needs to learn to trust her. JERRY IS THE MVP!!!!! He had seen this film before and he was hell bent on changing the outcome this time!!

Gojo really had a panic attack when he heard y/n say those words and that's when his actions dawned on him. He realised that HE could hurt y/n if he wasn't careful and that's the last thing he wanted.

Gojo's mother left him because she knew she could not take him with her and she had to choose between protecting her unborn child or staying at the estate and she felt since she couldn't save Satoru he was going to save the other one. Somewhere because of that Gojo has abandonment issues and that reflects in his toxic jealousy. He cannot imagine y/n choosing any other man over him so he removes the "obstacles" himself. Total red flag but a hot red flag.

Gojo was never happy without y/n. Yuri distracted him with alcohol and drugs and just her presence. She did petty work for him and she did save his life which is why she thinks he owes his life to her. Since according to her y/n took his life and she saved it. She has worked with Gojo for a year and she knows the in and out of the business. She wouldn't just threaten Gojo without holding all the good cards. She knows Gojo's weaknesses and triggers very well and she is not afraid to use them. She knows there are trust issues and things are complicated because of Keisuke. But losing y/n would kill Gojo.

They needed that time together and they are opening up to each other physically and emotionally. Y/n acknowledging Gojo as her husband was the biggest confident boost and you'll see in the next part what he does about it ;) Sometimes dreams are premonitions.... sometimes they are just dreams ;)

I don't think he's homophobic at all but I can also see it on his face he's uncomfortable. I just wanted to offer a perspective I've not seen anyone touch on that maybe more people pushing these ship questions need to think about. First and foremost I think Joe gets so uncomfortable with the ship questions because he's worried about saying the wrong thing when there is the potential for Eddie to come back. He seems just as uncomfortable as he does whenever he's asked if Eddie is really dead.

Secondly you said "(lowkey he seems so uncomfortable to the point its almost like he thinks he's being called gay or something" and tbh, I think that's exactly what's happening. I'm not saying he's homophobic, I'm saying the opposite. There is the potential for Joe to be something other than straight. So when he's answering Steddie questions or he's put on the spot about how he played Eddie in regards to Steve, there is a very real possibility that he is worried about outing himself. If he was to admit that he 'played Eddie as gay' it could raise questions about whether or not he was really acting or if he just let some of his own personality seep into Eddie. If I was him, I wouldn't touch anything that threatened to open that can of worms. I wouldn't want people asking more questions or overanalysing every little thing I did to try and figure out my real sexuality based on how I played a character.

Point is I don't think people even consider this shit quietly in their head when they push him on the scenes that they consider to be canonically 'gay'. It shouldn't matter what the actors think or how they intended to play the character. It shouldn't even matter what we know in canon. For God's sake Eddie is DEAD and every single person in this fandom is just blatantly ignoring that fact to write their little fix it smut fics. So why can't we ignore actors opinions to be happy writing our little fics?

first of all, thanks for such an interesting take on something a lot of people may not have considered. as someone who is not straight, i make a point of not assuming anyone’s sexuality until stated otherwise. there are so many examples of shit where that has backfired. just take a look at the shit that happened to kit connor, the poor kid was harassed into coming out as bisexual before he was happy and confident enough to do it on his terms because fans saw him with a friend who was a female and started saying he was queer baiting. sadly kit wasn’t the first and probably won’t be the last one bullied out of the closet.

that being said, i don’t know whether this would apply to joseph as kit was playing a bisexual character. most steddie shippers i interact with identify as queer though because they find something relatable in those characters. i think joe’s feelings on the ship and the awkwardness that comes across is a pretty common reaction from straight men when they worry about coming across as something other than straight. pretty much most media and fans have witnessed and reported pretty heteronormative behaviour. HOWEVER that isn’t indicative of someone’s sexuality, we also are not privy to his personal life. and no fan will know his personal life (unless theyre a proper stalker or something) NOONE is welcome to any personal business and private life of any person in the public eye. Joseph’s job is to act and anything else fans get to interact with is his choice.

your point on whether he knows something about the next season is also pretty interesting, and would definitely warrant him being careful on what he says in public.

like you said though, eddie is dead, fuck it and let people ship what they want. Some actors like to interact with fandom space and others don’t, both are fine. i dont really watch josephs interviews too often and i’m a bit more of a joe girl because i’ve loved his music for ages lol I love the whole cast though and they are all talented as fuck.

final note: dont ship actors irl, dont invade actors personal lives, dont harass fans with different ships, and people relate to the characters in different ways to the actors.

TGF Thoughts: 6x01 -- The Beginning of the End

Wow. It’s weird writing this knowing that once I finish, I’ll only ever have nine more of these to write. Before the final season announcement, I assumed TGF would run... forever, I suppose. Since it isn’t really a character-driven show, it’s easy to imagine that as long as there’s stuff happening in the world, there’s interesting ground for TGF to cover. Still, six seasons is a good run, and I understand the decision to end things now. I’m hoping this final season will give me some of the closure that TGW’s lazy final season did not. So here we go.

I read an advance review of this season (first 5 episodes) that noted these episodes felt less ambitious than the prior seasons. I wish I hadn’t read that review and had come to the conclusion myself... but I am confident I would’ve had the same opinion even without the review. To start off with, I don’t like this naming convention for the season (tbh this episode title feels like it should be an episode of Bones) and I don’t like that this episode starts with the credits.

What I REALLY wish I’d had no exposure to before watching this episode was the undercurrent of violence/protest running through the season. Instead of being surprised by it and piecing together what it might mean and how it’s thematically connected to how all the Wackner stuff ended last year, I already know what to expect. (That said – it's kind of a knock against the episode, isn’t it, that reading a press release summary about the violence had more or less the same impact as actually seeing it?)

While I’m still being negative... Nelson McCormick has never been my favorite director on this show (in fact, he’s been one of the directors I’ve liked the least) and now he seems to be the Kings’ go-to for Evil (where I like his work more) and TGF, especially now that Brooke Kennedy is no longer with the show. (On that last note, I want the tea.)

I am happy the season starts with Liz, who, in the last few years, has FINALLY started getting the type of attention and material she deserves!

Liz walks down some empty streets, looking disoriented. She runs into Diane, who’s just returned from vacation. Apparently the streets are empty because of a police exercise.

Oh good, ChumHum is back as a client. At least this time around, déjà vu is a theme of the season, so there’s no need for me to note how little sense this makes and how many times they’ve done it before.

Oooh, I’m feeling negative this morning! I don’t actually dislike this opener.

The building behind Liz and Diane says “THE TRUMP BUILDING” on it. It’s silly to complain in what’s basically season thirteen that the writers have never done their research on Chicago, but this feels like a total missed opportunity to, like, work some VFX magic and put the ACTUAL building in Chicago that ACTUALLY says Trump’s name in big, stupid letters in the show.

Diane’s office has been moved downstairs, but it’s been “expanded” for her and Liz offers to let her move back upstairs. So they’re on good terms. I would love to understand the firm’s construction budget.

Here’s my problem with TGF: In a scene like this, I should have more to say about Diane and Liz’s relationship. But I don’t, because there’s not much beyond the descriptive (Diane and Liz are on good terms) to say. There’s nothing for me to dig my teeth into. Anything else I could say here would be commentary on how the writers are structuring the season, not the characters.

Eh, I guess there is one thing I can say—Diane insisting on staying on 22 and not really caring about having a bigger office feels kind of like she’s self-inflicting punishment for fun/to feel good about herself. That’s making her out to be much more cynical and masochistic than I believe she is, but a lot of this does feel like everyone involved is playacting. Diane still has power; Liz still treats her like an equal and is making it quite clear (to Diane, at the very least) that Diane’s demotion is, in large part, about optics.

Madeline pops up to disparage Diane to Liz. She is convinced that Diane is out to sabotage Liz, going so far as to note that “Liz, you’re a sweet leader and I love you, but Diane will not be happy downstairs.” Oof. There’s so much happening in that sentence. First -- “a sweet leader” makes it sound like Liz is leading a group project at school and isn’t very good at it, but at least she’s nice to everyone. The issues with Liz not being the most natural leader from last season have not faded. Second, “and I love you” feels a little incongruous with the Liz/Madeline relationship and makes me want to see more of Madeline as a character (right now she largely feels like a device). Third, “Diane will not be happy downstairs” is simultaneously true and false. Diane will be happy downstairs as long as she doesn’t feel stuck. I think Diane can coast a lot on knowing she chose to be there and patting herself on the back for doing the right thing.

I love that the show will mention Barbara now and acknowledge that she was basically pushed out of her own firm. Diane didn’t quite take her spot, but Diane changed the firm enough for Barbara to immediately search for the exit...

“It is always so great to start my day with you, Madeline,” Liz responds. Have I heard this line somewhere else?

“Watch her. She’s coming after you,” Madeline warns again. Yeah... I don’t think Diane is, though.

An associate at the firm mistakes Diane for someone involved in a class action. Really? How big is this firm that being away for a month or two would make a former name partner unrecognizable oh god I’m nitpicking again

Diane enjoys her anonymity, at least momentarily. She’s less excited about her office (still a corner!). Everything on 22 looks dull and gray.

In an echo of TGF episode 2, Marissa is under Diane’s desk, plugging in her computer. She’s an attorney now, because... time is weird don’t think about it too hard. (The timing might kind of add up if Marissa found a program that takes less than 3 years and started in mid-2020? Is that even possible?)

Diane congratulates Marissa; Marissa asks about her vacation, which Diane says was “wonderful, and much too short”

Marissa notes she’s helping Diane unpack to “get on her good side” -- she wants a favor. Again, Marissa asks Diane if she wants the framed photo with Hillary Clinton (she does).

Marissa mentions the protests briefly, then pulls out African masks (just like in episode 2). Apparently, they were never unpacked.

Diane notices that this moment feels like it’s already happened; Marissa responds by repeatedly saying, “What do you mean, unpacking your stuff?” and it’s very funny, love Sarah Steele’s delivery. I also do love the self-aware deja-vu theme. Honestly, how can I sit here and complain about recycled plot points and tiny details when this show is clearly trying to be surreal (aimless protests as tone setting!) and it’s flat-out telling me it knows it’s being repetitive? I’m going to try to chill out and just enjoy what the writers are putting in front of me instead of nitpicking.

Plus, déjà vu is a really great theme for this season, given, you know, the whole world right now. I’m on board with this theme. Now let’s see if I really can refrain from nitpicking.

Marissa asks Diane if she can argue a motion and then some birds fly into Diane’s office window, prompting Diane to say Madeline Starkey’s name. Spooked by the birds, Diane gets a concerned look on her face and gives Marissa what she wants.

“I don’t need to see this,” Liz says to another lawyer who’s showing her a clip of something happening in the metaverse. She’s also speaking for me in this moment. I don’t find the metaverse (at least not the one that feels like Second Life 2022) interesting at all.

This case – sexual assault in the metaverse – is intriguing, and, unfortunately, based on reality. As with most cases, I do not have much to say about it. Diane and Liz seem to be on the wrong side of this one: they are representing Chumhum and arguing that assault isn’t real if it happens in the metaverse.

A loud bang at one of the protests temporarily disrupts the meeting. No one knows what the protesters want. This feels unrealistic, but it’s also pretty obviously tone-setting (and maybe a little bit of commentary about the amount of anger in the world right now + how easy it is to get into a nonsensical mob mentality) so I’m okay with it.

Neither Liz nor Diane have ever been tear gassed, but Liz’s dad was once and said it was “murder.” Yay for mentions of Liz’s dad! More than anything, these mentions show that the writers haven’t forgotten that Liz got to where she is in large part because of her name.

Diane suggests that security be hired to escort employees to their cars, and I have many thoughts. First, can’t y’all work remotely?! Second, I don’t think angry crowds like people who think they’re important enough to have security details.

Chumhum has given EVERYONE IN THE FIRM their own VR headset. Sounds like big tech!

Liz heads up to a meeting with STR Laurie. I’m shocked STR Laurie has stuck around for this long, tbh.

Liz asks Diane if she’s going to fuck her over. “No, never. I have no idea why I would do that. I’m glad you’re in charge,” Diane responds. I think she means it.

“And Liz,” she follows up. “Can I tell you one thing I’ve learned here? Women don’t like to take credit. Men do. That’s why they get promoted.” I would bet you anything that Diane did not learn that lesson at the job she took basically post-retirement. I would imagine Diane learned that in, like, elementary school.

I’m on the fence about hesitant-manager-Liz. On the one hand, I absolutely love seeing smart, passionate characters struggle and grow, especially with skills that might not come naturally to them. Liz never needed to manage or take credit in quite this way in her days as a prosecutor. On the other hand, I think this sequence might be making Liz out to be less assertive than she is. Wasn’t one of Liz’s early defining moments when she pursued a completely different strategy from everyone else in the room and impressed the DNC? I know management is a different beast, but I’d prefer to see Liz struggle with finding the right things to say or knowing how to keep things under control. Liz struggling with confidence feels... inappropriate.

STR Laurie leadership wants to congratulate Liz on a job well done! Liz starts to say it was a team effort, but decides to accept the compliment and take credit. I might have been too harsh above. Taking credit and being confident are different things. I’m going to leave my above paragraph, though, because I still have a nagging feeling about this plot and am curious to know what others thought.

Yet again it’s the best quarter the firm’s ever had lol

STR Laurie’s reaction to the best quarter ever with Liz’s solo leadership is to bring in a second name partner (Allegra didn’t work out; the writers could’ve bought so much good will by mentioning Allegra HERE and not in passing 20 mins later!). Because STR Laurie leadership are buddy-buddy with Kurt enough to have a photo of all of them in hunting gear in their office (um, okay), Liz assumes this new name partner must be Diane.

Speaking of not saying the right thing, Liz immediately starts TALKING about Kurt before she knows any details about who the new name partner will be! Shut up, Liz! Don’t show them your weakness and doubt!

The most ridiculous part of that meeting is that STR Laurie DOES NOT TELL LIZ ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW NAME PARTNER. They do not say if it is or isn’t Diane, they do not tell Liz if it is someone they’ve already hired or if she’ll be involved in the selection... nothing. What? Why? (I know why; it’s so Liz can storm off and then be very terse with Diane.)

Diane clearly has thoughts on Liz’s attitude but doesn't immediately say anything. She asks Liz if she’s alright; Liz says she is but doesn’t say anything else. Oof.

As Liz and Diane leave the office, the new name partner arrives! No one seems to know he’s going to be coming in! Except STR Laurie, I guess, who for some reason determined that the appropriate way to introduce Liz to Ri’chard was by... ambush? Is their goal to create drama or to run a law firm!?

Carmen is doing well for herself; she’s touring an apartment in the Gold Coast (which is not where Carmen would want to live, but, whatever). Then she’s interrupted by two men in suits.

Ri’chard deems all of the art at Reddick & Associates (the name only made it one episode and they STILL got new signage!) awful and starts measuring to see which office is the biggest. He wants to know how many floors the firm has. I want to know where this dude came from (big enough to matter, not big enough for anyone to know him?) and why he’s content with working at a firm as small and lacking in independence as this one. I know, I know, I need to sit back and enjoy the show and just appreciate this marvelous performance from Andre Braugher.

“Does Liz know you’re doing this?” Julius asks Ri’chard. “Who’s Liz?” he responds. “The other name partner,” Julius explains. “Yeah, she knows,” Ri’chard says, obviously not giving a shit about Liz’s existence. Who hired this man and why? What is this hiring process? Why can’t I stop nitpicking?

Ri’chard has a posse of associates (?) who follow him around and is religious.

Liz is being too aggressive in court and Diane tells her so. I think that’s what I dislike about this iteration of the Liz plot – it makes it seem like Liz doesn’t know how to behave like a professional and like Diane knows everything. And while it makes sense that Diane would have better leadership abilities than Liz (we’ve seen Diane be a leader for thirteen actual years), I don’t think we need Liz to be taking her anger out on an assault victim to make that point.

Diane starts predicting what’s going to happen in the trial before it happens. I think this is supposed to contribute to the déjà vu plot, but it has the (possibly unintended?) effect of making it seem like Diane is several steps ahead of Liz, which I do not love.

Apparently, the victim was wearing a haptic suit at the time of the attack – you would think this would’ve come up earlier – and Jay doesn’t know what setting it was on. Another thing you’d think they’d know before GOING TO COURT.

Have we actually seen the court dialogue from this scene before? I know we saw an argument where Diane wanted Liz to be less aggressive in S5. Is that why this is happening? I think I was on Liz’s side for that argument; this feels like Liz is pissed at Diane and taking it out on an assault victim.

I do not like it when characters act in certain ways for the sake of plot. I do not like it one bit.

Diane confides in Jay about her déjà vu (deja vecu, actually – when it happens for a longer period of time) and Jay calls it her “superpower.” Diane is not pleased with that answer and looks alarmed.

Carmen has a bag over her head and is being escorted to a super top secret location, but she’s still allowed to use her phone (?????). Marissa calls her and begins pestering her, just like she did with Lucca in 5x01. Marissa does not pick up on the distress in Carmen’s voice; she’s too happy about being able to argue a motion in court.

Another creep repped by Charles Lester wants Carmen’s services. I have very few thoughts on these plots. Carmen’s interesting, but this case adds little to the overall show. I mean, it’s not just Diane feeling déjà vu. This plot feels like every Bishop plot in a blender.

Marissa and Carmen resume their call. Protesters are at the courthouse now. Marissa’s nervous about her court appearance and wants advice; Carmen tells her she’ll be fine because of her experience in Wackner’s court (oh, wow, I thought we were just going to act like that was a fever dream and never talk about it again!). Carmen says she has to go and Marissa does not listen or wonder why Carmen sounds so harried.

Marissa then freezes in court. She can’t get a word out. She loses. And I love it. I love watching these characters fail.

Her opposition tells her she must have the “yips.”

Case stuff happens. Liz and opposing council fight over the controller. I don’t understand.

Yeah this scene, where the judge gets assaulted in the metaverse and the assault victim has to watch (why would her lawyers do this to her? She should at least have the option of leaving the room!) is NOT an easy watch. Hard to watch this and think Liz and Diane are in the right, at least morally (I have no idea about legality as I am not a lawyer).

I’ve had multiple people tell me they assume I’m a lawyer and... can you IMAGINE how nitpicky these recaps would be if I knew the first thing about the actual law? I’m a little scared of what that alternate version of myself would have to say.

Ri’chard gets rid of Diane’s flower-head painting!!! HOW DARE HE!!!

Ri’chard does a listening exercise where associates have to tell him what they hate about the firm. Say what you will about his harshness in this scene: at least he is listening to the associates and giving their opinions more weight than Julius’s too-little-too-late promise to hire two associates.

That said, most problems with staffing are easy to solve if you have infinite money to throw at them. I have seen no indication that Reddick and Associates has infinite money to throw at problems.

Marissa is NOT happy with her court performance and almost forgets to get off the elevator on her floor. She immediately finds Carmen, expresses the slightest concern for her, and starts talking about the yips. Carmen, who was just trying to WALK THROUGH THE HALLWAYS, looks at her phone and tells Marissa she’s busy. Marissa does not listen and keep going, because the point of a friendship is to have someone to talk at. Marissa finally notices something’s off when Carmen rushes away to an office filled with cops.

Oop I’m back to not caring about the case! So many cases to not care about!

Carmen is smart; it is always fun to watch smart people work.

Carmen’s new client is arrested despite having a “secret” location. There’s a CI in his crew! Drama!

Liz and Diane arrive back at the firm to complete chaos. Ri’chard has hired a lot of new people and has begun redecorating. This is simply to absurd to take issue with; we are not in reality.

Ri’Chard hypes Liz up so much it feels insincere. He even kisses her hand. Uh, no?

Ri’Chard says he feels like an insider already, and... he kind of does. He’s perfectly cast—so natural among the other names in this show that I do feel like he’s already been around more than 2 episodes. It still weirds me out when he smiles, though, but that is 100% because I’ve only ever seen him on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Captain Holt NEVER smiled.

Why did I just get hit with a ton of feelings listening to Diane introduce herself? Why did THAT line make it hit me that this show is ending and Diane’s been a part of my life for a decade?

How did I neglect to mention that Ri’Chard has made the conference room his office?! The confidence! He says it’s going to do “double-duty” but that obviously won’t work.

Also, just gonna note that today (the day after I wrote a lot of what’s above) someone tried to give me credit for something and I immediately noted that others helped too... I think I need to take Diane’s advice to Liz myself.

Liz and Ri’Chard go to talk to STR Laurie. Liz paces around the room while Ri’Chard lounges on the couch, and I can’t help but to think about how gendered this feels. Liz is objectively in the right – she's just had someone added to her firm for no reason, with no warning and no say in the hiring. All her grievances and her anger are justified. But because she’s pacing around and being serious rather than playful and chummy, she doesn’t stand a chance right now. But if she were to sit down nonchalantly like Ri’Chard and voice her complaints, I don’t think STR Laurie would take her seriously, either. This feels like sexism.

STR Laurie spends its time fielding calls about fickle, unhappy Reddick & Associates clients. Despite having given Liz praise that very morning, over the course of the DAY, things at R&A have turned so dire between the “loss” on the Chumhum case and Marissa’s fuckup that Liz can no longer be trusted to manage things on her own. This scene makes me so angry. I know Liz could do a better job of controlling the room, but the point I’m trying to make is that her being in the right counts for much less than it should – and the stuff that “shouldn’t” count at all seems to be all that matters. Hypercompetence is no match for charisma.

The STR Laurie folks call Liz “Diane” in case you weren’t convinced they’re sexist assholes. Oh, Liz looks so pissed – and rightfully so – at the mixup.

After the meeting, Ri’Chard tells Liz he’s not the enemy and that they can “kick ass together.” I mean, sure, STR Laurie is the enemy here, but Ri’Chard taking over and making leadership decisions before learning who Liz is makes him ALSO the enemy. Is that really how you start off a partnership that you intend to be equal and fruitful?

I am not sure what Ri’Chard’s endgame is, actually, but until I’m given more information I will assume that it’s to be the sole name partner and/or advance to a more prestigious role in STR Laurie.

Question: What’s more prestigious, being a name partner at R&A or being one of the STR Laurie guys who is not any of S,T,R, or Laurie? I think it has to be senior leadership at STR Laurie, right?

Ri’Chard tells an exasperated Liz they can “change the world” together. Is this supposed to give me déjà vu and remind me of Alicia and Cary in Red Team, Blue Team?

Liz tells Ri’Chard basically what I said—that if he really wants to help, he should respect what’s already been built. Ri’Chard says he understands and tells Liz she’s wise before extending his hand for a shake. Liz shakes his hand, reluctantly, but it’s clear she’s not buying what he’s selling. And neither am I. Actions speak louder than words.

“We have different styles, but not different goals,” he tells her. I actually won’t be shocked if Ri’Chard turns out to be a good guy, but the writers have done a good job here of putting me in Liz’s shoes and making me mistrustful of the new guy. (Yes, I am singing the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend song in my head.)

Carmen case stuff happens. Time for a phone break! To me, the only purpose these scenes serve is heightening just how much more intense the shit Carmen’s dealing with is than Marissa’s self-imposed mistake.

Carmen arrives back at the office and notices a cracked window. Marissa, who’s also still working, tells her it cracked from the flash bombs from the protest. The power is also intermittent. Just go and work from home!

Marissa is reading about the yips. Carmen’s there, which must mean Carmen wants to talk, so Marissa gets up and starts blabbing about how Liz and Diane are talking to her the next day, probably about the continuance she messed up (utterly stunned this mistake has gone unmentioned for as long as it has; someone should’ve been on that IMMEDIATELY).

Carmen actively ignores Marissa and continues doing work. Marissa does not take the hint. Carmen interrupts her to remind her that, “I’m not your security blanket.” Marissa doesn’t understand. Carmen tells her she has to handle her issues by herself because “I can’t be there for you. I’m not good at it. And, frankly, I don’t have the time for it.”

I loooooooooove this. I love Carmen getting overwhelmed and in over her head and I love Marissa getting told, for once in her life, to shut up in a way that will actually make her stop and listen. Marissa’s been able to get pretty far in her career through persistence, but she absolutely needs to learn to cooperate with others and think beyond herself.

“I’m not asking for your time. I’m asking for your advice,” Marissa says, as though Carmen can dispense advice without spending any time listening.

“And I can’t give it to you. I’m not built to be your sounding board. I have my own problems. That’s where my focus needs to be. Not on you,” Carmen responds. Harsh! Not undeserved, but harsh! I think Carmen’s not giving herself enough credit – I think she’s capable of, like, having friends.

Now episode 3 has aired. Guys, I do not recommend taking a 2-week vacation at the same time as the premiere of your favorite show – you will get behind on writing extremely long recaps no one reads! (Jk I absolutely recommend taking a 2-week long vacation if you’re able!)

“Okay. Makes sense. Have a good night, and fuck you,” Marissa responds, unable to comprehend that the world doesn’t revolve around her. As I said above, I really like seeing someone who’s able to resist (or maybe not resist fully, but push back on) Marissa’s charms. Marissa is not used to not getting her way. Carmen’s being pretty firm and harsh here, but in a way I think is deserved (and certainly understandable given the amount of pressure she’s under). Marissa doesn’t need to say “fuck you” -- she needs to say something more like, “Wow, Carmen, that’s harsh – seems like you’re under a lot of stress right now. Is there anything you want to talk about?” (I understand where Marissa’s coming from, too, and I don’t know that most people would have the maturity to actually respond like that. But if Marissa and Carmen are actually friends, I’d want Marissa to be able to recognize when Carmen’s taking her stress out on her...)

Diane watches the news; it’s all protests, all the time. So she takes out the VR headset and tries to escape from the world. Several of her colleagues have had the same idea, and we’re treated to a montage of Diane, Jay, and Julius exploring the metaverse.

Jay is in the metaverse for work. His avatar is a giant, and kinda pervy looking tbh, bear. Not sure why, but it’s funny!

Diane receives a virtual business card for something called Mind Trip that will allegedly help with her déjà vu. Sure. Seems legit. Diane doing drugs *again* to cure her déjà vu – that's a little ironic.

(Intrigued that the Kings decided to return to what was probably one of the most polarizing plots on TGF – but I’m not surprised.)

The montage ends with everyone’s internet failing? Maybe because of the protests?

“My world feels a little bit out of control,” Diane says at the fancy drug office thing. We’ve heard this from her before, very season two.

John Slattery is part of the cast now, and while I’m not sure I love this plot or this character, I can’t believe he is JUST NOW joining the cast?! Both he and Andre Braugher feel like they’ve been part of the TGW/F family forever already, probably because they’re actors on the same level as the rest of the cast.

(Side note on John Slattery, like everyone else, I also mostly think of him as Roger Sterling... but I first saw him as Gaby’s politician husband in Desperate Housewives! Man, I miss that show sometimes.)

“I feel like we’re on this hamster wheel, and no matter what we do, we end up back at the start. You know? I used to believe in progress. That people learned from their mistakes. That things got better. And... and here we are,” she says. The news certainly does feel like this these days. This is a really smart theme for season six, and I do love that (and I say this mostly based on episode 2 and 3, sorry!) this plot feels familiar but is also actually generating material I don’t feel like this show (or TGW) has ever covered?! Like, I’m seeing new sides to Diane and this is SEASON THIRTEEN for her.

I do really like this scene, but I don’t have a lot to say about it.

I also like that Diane mentions she used to microdose; I’m a sucker for continuity.

I would never in a million years trust this practice to give me drugs

John Slattery’s character mentions Dante and Diane falls in love with him instantly. I don’t know that I’m exaggerating there.

(I like Diane and Kurt together a lot, but the way they’re still having the same arguments over and over about politics makes me wonder how long they can last. And this dude? He is CLEARLY a love interest.)

The graphic design on the logo for ‘ChumHum metaverse’ looks like someone with no experience in graphic design spent about 30 seconds on it. Oof.

Case stuff happens. Jay-the-pervy-bear recorded something that looked bad for the victim and (once again) the entire case hinges on late-breaking information.

The victim gets to give a speech, though, which is... fine, I guess? Like, it’s a good speech and all, but it’s preachier than the show usually gets...

Diane and Liz lose and have to let ChumHum know. Meanwhile, Ri’Chard is praying and Marissa’s being asked to do paperwork. Marissa does not want to do paperwork or wait her turn. This seems entirely fair to me.

Notable names in Marissa’s favorites: David Cord, her dad, Lucca, Wackner. She calls Eli and says she needs help.

If the point of this plot was to show that Marissa’s as entitled and privileged as she is witty and smart, it succeeded!

Oh I did NOT like the way the camera zoomed in as Carmen pushed back on the police officer

Carmen’s plot is not very interesting to me but for the sake of recapping, Carmen’s realization that there was a CI in her client’s crew led to that CI’s horrific death.

This prosecutor or detective guy, I'm not sure which and I don’t really care, accuses Carmen of being responsible for the CI’s death. Carmen is like, if I’m such a coldblooded killer, why are you even trying to appeal to my sense of ethics? Good point.

And then the detective is all, oooh you’ll wind up dead too if you continue down this path. Carmen does not care. She asks him to leave and then accepts congratulations (and a lot of new work) from her latest scary crime boss client. She doesn’t seem entirely happy to be in this position – likely since she knows the prosecutor’s warning isn’t wrong.

Diane and Liz drink together as helicopters fly over the office. “Do you ever worry that we’re gonna lose everything?” Diane asks. Liz thinks she means the firm – but Diane means the whole country. Liz says she needs more drinks for that one – ha!

Diane and Liz friendship scenes took us a little too long to get to, but I’m so glad we have them now. It’s nice seeing Diane *actually* have a female friend she can chat with. She’s wanted this for so long and now she finally has it!

Diane then starts talking about how she REALLY didn’t want to come back home from vacation. She says that’s new for her. Liz is just like, “well then you haven’t lived” which is a good point. Also, Diane could retire and buy her home in France now, could she not? If she doesn’t want to work, couldn’t she just not work?

Liz confesses she was pissed off earlier in the day because she thought Diane was about to be named the second name partner. Diane is not surprised – she'd already guessed as much. (I love that even in these casual chats with Liz where Diane’s not really trying to make waves, it’s always clear that Diane has a very good sense of what’s happening and knows how and when to push. There were a few scenes like that last season and there are several in this episode, and it’s a great way of showing-not-telling that Diane has great leadership instincts.)

Oh, NOW we’re going to mention getting rid of Allegra? I think I said this above, but would’ve been nice to drop that little line upfront before I could get angry at the episode for lack of continuity!

Liz asks for Diane’s help with Ri’Chard, knowing she might be “fighting for her life here.” Diane laughs, because it’s yet another moment of déjà vu. They’re fighting a man – again. “Always,” Liz responds. “It will be ever thus. So here’s to us,” Diane says. Nice.

All of the series regulars are in the elevator together for no discernable reason other than that this shot/scene works better if it concerns all the people we care about and no one else.

Not even Marissa knows if the protests are from the left or the right.

The elevator doors open and someone throws in a grenade! Shit, that’s scary. And really unexpected, even with the violence in the air.

The zoom-in on Diane’s face as she whimpers “Kurt” thinking she’s about to die REALLY undercuts the tension of this scene. It feels soooooooo tacky.

(Interesting that they chose to have DIANE and not anyone else audibly think about their loved ones here. I think there’s more hope for Diane/Kurt than all of the Dr. Bettencourt (is that his name?) stuff suggests.)

Thankfully, the grenade is a fake. On it, it says, “The next one is real 11/10”.

11/10 is, as far as I can tell, the date of the series finale.

Diane’s near-death experience sends her right to the Mind Trip offices.

Regarding your last post, I thought the same while watching the behind the scenes of the MV. This is not a shade because I myself am not fluent in English and still need to improve a lot but to me it seems quite obvious Jungkook’s English isn’t as good as some Army like to pretend (I’m going to get call names…). I would say he’s around a low intermediate level, which is perfectly fine, he has a busy life so it doesn’t let him a lot of time to study. I guess his understanding is better than his speaking skills, which is usually the case for most of language learners, but orally I don’t think he fully grasps all the meanings and nuances and the slang etc. I just want to say again this is not me trying to belittle his abilities, it’s only my opinion, but to me it doesn’t look like he fully understands what he sings… his face expressions in that video, it looks like sometimes he was a bit clueless. I’m not saying he has no idea of what he is singing, obviously he got a full translation before accepting the project but he doesn’t look like he truly "feels" the lyrics and immerge himself in it. Idk, for me it lacks something and that video made me a bit uncomfortable. I know I’m being a bit dramatic but I can’t shake the feeling that the industry is using him for cash and immediate success without paying much attention to who he his, his personality, his artistry. And another collab is on the way with Kid Laroi apparently… I’m losing interest. I want to hear Jungkook on his own, with a song made only for him and that reflects who he is as a person and an artist. I miss that feeling, seeing him perform so honestly, when you can see on his face and hear in his voice how much he feels the song, how deep he goes to find the emotions and bring them to the surface. I truly hope there will be songs on his album that makes me feel connected to him again because at the moment it feels like I am totally unable to enjoy what he’s doing.

I don't even know if he bothered translating Jack Harlow's parts tbh. I remember one Run BTS episode where they had to sing their songs without using English, so they had to translate some lyrics to Korean, and, apart from RM, the members didn't even know what the English lyrics meant. I remember J-Hope being shocked, like, "So this is what this part means?", which was a bit wild for me since it was his song. Tbh, I don't bother reading the translation to most kpop songs. I only know what the tts mean because most MVs have subtitles now. If not, then too bad... Most songs have boring lyrics so it's often best if I don't know them. It's different for the artist, but I still can't be certain that Jungkook bothered finding out the translation to Jack's parts although he's the type to. Maybe he was so busy he didn't bother? Maybe he recorded his parts and only gave his blessing to the final version which included Jack's verses, without approving the lyrics beforehand. He doesn't seem the type to control what other people write in their own verses. Maybe he was too busy to translate the lyrics and only did it later? All seem to be possible options. The fact that Jungkook had to be coached to do the right facial expressions and gestures for his TikTok with Jack made it seem like he wasn't sure at all what the lyrics meant - at least then. It also makes me confident that he doesn't know what "rain, rain, rain" or "champagne, confetti" really mean. I think Jungkook cares more about melody and the vibe than lyrics.

Anyway, I don't think the industry is using him. He's not a victim anymore than anyone else. He's making his own choices, as much as someone in the industry can. Of course Big Hit loves the choices he's making because he's doing so well commercially, but I think he's made it clear that he loves what he's been doing. And if he's letting other people make choices for him, the blame is on him too, because he's in a position where he can say no.

I also want to hear Jungkook on his own, but, unless he's truly being pressured into only doing collabs for whatever reason, these are the choices he's making.

Thirteen Era Rewatch: Legend of the Sea Devils

I'm re-watching Thirteen's era in lead up to the Centenary and since this is likely going to be my last full re-watch for a while I thought I'd do a post on each ep where I just go over all the things I love, hate or just have some general thoughts on.

Yaz will not let go of the beach and I respect her for it

I remember this clip being in the trailer or something and ppl being like ‘why is she having a go at Yaz’ and like HUH? What serious annoyance in 13’s voice are ppl hearing? Bc I’m not hearing it

The Sea Devil jump looks fine tbh. Maybe bit weird when he first takes off but that’s about it

This is just really funny to me idk. I low-key feel like this era as a whole doesn’t get enough credit for being funny. It has its moments

She’s actually on one in this ep and I’m obsessed with it. Like something about the chat with Dan made her more confident idek. It’s also kinda, idk, maybe even mean that she’s acting like this when she knows full well she’s about to let Yaz down later in the ep

I literally don’t hear that Sea Devil say twat at all idk where ppl got it from

I love this guy

There’s nothing wrong the ‘don’t let the sword touch your skin’ line spare for it woulda been better if we saw 13 say it rather than it being a voiceover. It’s a normal thing to say, especially considering they aren’t normal swords, literally just a touch would cause harm

The way 13 is mad at Ji-Hun for killing that Sea Devil but then two minutes later she’s like ‘Here Dan, take this sword, but only use it in emergencies, aka right now’. Like she really told Ji-Hun off and then encouraged Dan to go kill some Sea Devils. Make it make sense

This entire scene makes me wanna throw up like, one of the best ppl she’s ever known? The River mention? Yaz’s face when she realises what 13 is saying? Chef’s kiss

Ji-Hun literally tells 13 and Yaz that he has already risked himself in order to give his crew the chance to escape. It makes sense that at the end of the ep he would be willing to sacrifice himself again. There’s an argument in there for lazy righting for sure, like what a coincidence that just when 13 and Yaz are doomed the perfect character comes in to die for them, but theres nothing morally wrong with 13 letting it happen and it’s not out of character for Ji-Hun to be willing

When this ep first aired I literally thought we weren’t gonna see 13 and Yaz’s beach chat and it was just gonna end on Dan and Diane and I nearly lost my mind

Her thing of not wanting to fix herself to somebody bc eventually it will hurt is so fuckin dumb like someone give the Doctor some spare braincells. Like, it’s gonna hurt regardless. Does she not realise she’s already attached to Yaz to an insane degree? When Yaz leaves, it’s gonna hurt to a point where they might as well have gone all out and been dating anyways. The difference in suffering she’s gonna go through isn’t gonna be THAT much smaller just bc they didn’t become girlfriends or whatever. They’re already attached!!

I do think this is an interesting way of doing things, and I do think it works with the fact that Thasmin is happening so late bc we can be like well the reason it didn’t happen until now is bc 13 has been avoiding it for fear of getting attached, which tracks with her not wanting to get attached to the fam all the way back in S11. 13 is just wrong, this defo isn’t the best way to go about things

I love that 13 is like ‘Yeah I can’t get attached bc it’ll hurt’ and Yaz is basically like ‘Well, you should do it anyways’. She was the same in that green scene earlier. When 13 was like ‘I can’t’, Yaz, bold as fuck, was like ‘Why tho’ Its like now that things are out in the open Yaz isn’t shy about saying what she wants/being upfront about her feelings. It was just hard for her to take the first step

I’m depressed.

The next time trailer punched me in the face

I actually quite like this ep. I do think the Thasmin stuff brings it up a lot and but the other stuff isn’t that bad idk. Yaz and 13 are a great duo in this ep, Dan and that kid are cool. It’s fun.

next gen part three tracker/plotcall

hi! ah shit here we go again! just like last time, i’m going to write some about what my muses are going to be up to this round and also keep track of everything i have to write–– without gif icons this time because i’m too lazy to make any HAHA but as always, please like this post to plot! i’m going to cap this at three threads per muse for now, but if we can come up with a really fun plot or i feel like i can take it on i may be able to pick up more. we’ll see! anyway onto the state of the gremlins:

JOOMI

joomi is, once again, going thru it and will likely cry day one again, for entirely different reasons than last time. he is not upset about falling in rank or getting told his performance was bad (in fact he is very surprised he’s not last) but instead he’s emotional because the judges said they’re cheering for him. joomi has had a very hard life that included a lot of neglect and abuse and generally not being shown any positive attention so the idea of people supporting him so much even though he made mistakes is incredibly foreign and overwhelming. the good news is that now he doesn’t want to quit! he still doesn’t really want to be an idol, but he wants to do his best on next gen so the judges don’t feel like they misplaced their faith in him. after he gets the initial emotions out of his system and isn’t so overwhelmed anymore, he’ll be ready to get to work, and he’s a lot more confident in his singing. granted, joomi doesn’t have that much confidence at all, but it’s growing! he will gladly help anyone with their singing that asks for it/needs it, even if he feels deeply unqualified to do so, given he has very little musical training outside of piano. he also knows basically nothing about kpop but by a stroke of luck or divine intervention, i actually headcanoned that the only kpop he really listens to is wannabe’s taeyeon equivalent, and he’ll be performing one of her songs! so he already knows it, which also comes as a huge comfort. i wouldn’t say he’ll be relaxed, but he certainly feels a lot better now than he did preparing for last episode. that being said, he is not excited for the mcountdown performance at all and could probably use some additional help there, though honestly, nobody should expect him to do particularly well. he is just praying they put him in the back.

nayoung is tbh pissed she didn’t rank higher. she thinks she put on a better performance and/or is more skilled than most of the people above her (this does not reflect the mun’s opinion i promise asdfasdgsdg) she Really wanted top five and i think she is feeling a bit insecure...because she felt like last round was Made for her, and if she can’t be center from that, can she do this at all? she Refuses to let that show though, she will be as cold and steely as ever. she got compared to being as scary as bom on the episode and she’s honestly kind of proud of that LMAO but the judges also told her to be nicer HAHA so she will be trying to do that. she won’t necessarily be Nice...she just won’t be as harsh...she will happily help everyone though, especially her team members, but expect her to lowkey function like a drill sergeant. dancing is nayoung’s specialty, but she prides herself on being able to succeed at any skill asked of her, so she’s eager to prove she’s a good rapper too! she will be practicing hard as always but since she saw some contestants get scolded for not taking care of themselves on the episode she won’t push as hard this week.

Ummm....initially, so it seemed (and I shipped it way earlier and longer than you did). In retrospect it was actually toxic, with Jug being an amazing partner, yes---while Slizzy lied, manipulated, used him as a placeholder and carried on an emotional affair with Douchie throughout. She also routinely took credit for all his work, was snide, belittling and bitchy and made everything endlessly about her ladypain....even while he was dealing was vastly bigger issues at hand.

She then proceeded to betray him in the one way she had known for years would devastate him most, dangle him endlessly to feel better about herself, made him feel like he was completely worthless and treated him thusly. She did not care if he was ded or alive, she belittled his creative work and gave away his last hope of career resurrection. She didn’t care that he was a confessed alcoholic and ghosted him.

Conversely, Tabitha, who he chose, while both were single and Slizzy kinda acted like she might be interested, after all (for the first time in forever)....cared about him at his lowest, has always been supportive and encouraging and only every wanted to help him. They bring out the best in each other and she is the

ONE PERSON WHO HAS NEVER, EVER BETRAYED HIM AND WOULD NEVER CONSIDER IT BECAUSE SHE LOVES HIM.

Admittedly, Jizzy HAD (not any moare) better chemistry because they were IRL couple....Jabi aren’t and are both in committed relationships with others. BUT this doesn’t mean Cole and Erinn don’t have chemistry. You just hate it.

You’re also pissed because they were fucking adorable last ep and we got fed...

So that’s why, cuntwipe!

No, iknowusuck, as a former Jizzy shipper, I precisely hate Jizzy because Slizzy is a fucking bitch. Especially to Jughead

They were adorable all along......you just refused to see it. I started hating Jizzy because of the cheating and EVEN THEN....I was willing to look past it. She was eventually written as a vile asshole.

Additionally, when Erinn was first cast, even you assholes admitted she clearly was cast as Jug’s LI, you just then refused to accept it would be permanent. Then it wasn’t gonna happen....and it did.

Ummm....no, I just listed precisely why I love Jabi @petalsmooth does so routinely, as well....now, TBF, yes, Erinn’s exquisitely beautiful, to the point where Claudia remarked, the first time seeing her, “wow, that girls is so pretty! Is she Jughead’s new GF?” And recently remarked, “I figured everybody just moved on to Jughead with that new lady anyway”

Errmmm...they’re written as Jizzy should’ve been. Tabs is way better. See above.

Love Language|| Jujutsu Kaisen

“I wanna be fluent in your love language. Learning your love language.”

A/N: If you didn’t guess from the tagline this is inspired by the song love language by Kehlani. I’ll probably do more of these with different shows and what not because why not. If I missed anyone lmk and I can make a part 2. Also please tag spoilers appropriately esp for manga readers, that being said spoilers for the prequel? manga on Yuuta’s part.

Characters: Itadori, Fushiguro, Kugisaki, Maki, Inumaki, Okkotsu, Gojo, Nanami, Sukuna

Warnings: said it b4 but spoiler warnings in general but esp on Yuuji, Yuuta, and Maki’s parts

Plot synopsis: The 5 love languages; physical affection, quality time, words of affirmation, gift giving and acts of service, and how each jujutsu kaisen character shows their love and affection for you. Ft. a gender neutral reader!

Itadori Yuuji

Love Language: Quality time and physical affection

Ok listen-

So for physical affection, Yuuji’s just that kind of person

He is all about giving to you

He’s holding hands with you if you’re ever walking anywhere, and if you’re not a hand holder pls pls pls let him hold your pinky he likes the reassurance

No but seriously he loves to hold you like yall could be walking in completely opposite directions and he’ll try to find some way to hold onto you until the very last second

And even then he’s all ‘:( babe imy’

‘Yuuji we just talked 2 minutes ago’

Another way he shows his love is through quality time

I think for him this is the biggest thing overall, esp as a jujutsu sorcerer bcus you never know yk but also because you’re important to him

Like remember how he literally went to occult club so that he could get out of school in time to go visit his grandpa...ye :(

He also loves finding dumb touristy things to do with you while in Tokyo or anywhere yall go together on a mission

If you get together before he died and came back then that time he had to spend away from you literally killed him

Like my mans was goin THROUGH it

He almost considered spoiling Gojo’s secret

When he sees you again, he’s not gonna let go for like a solid day

Fushiguro Megumi

Love Language: acts of service and words of affirmation

This boy loves you so much

He loves to tell you all the things he loves about you when you’re alone

But he’s a little awkward with his words sometimes, hence where acts of service come in

He’ll immediately offer to hold your things, run to help you train or study, and if you’re cold? He’s fully prepared to never see his jacket again

Also he can’t cook but he’s fully prepared to suffer hearing Sukuna and suffering through Yuuji’s antics if it means he can learn how to make your favorite food

He also will surprise you by making you a playlist of all the songs that you’ve had stuck in your head and sends it to you randomly out of the blue one day like ‘thought you might like this’

However the best of both worlds is when he leaves you little notes throughout the day or sends you texts asking if you need anything or just encouraging you to keep going

Negl he’s lowkey the president of the Y/N support club bcus-

You need anything? It’s yours

Cravings? Sad? Angry? What do you need bby, I’ve got it for you

Also he’s totally the type to be like you need help fuckin this person up?

Also before yall started dating, Fushiguro was a mess

He was constantly asking to spar with you and go on missions, basically anything he could do to be near you

End of the day, Fushiguro loves you and makes sure you know it whether it’s through his actions or his words

Kugisaki Nobara

Love Language: physical affection

So, she’s not the best with words, she tries but like someone help her bcus she is LOST

Like when she had a crush on you she was like “c’mere dumbass i wanna give you a hug”

In fact, she still is like “c’mere” but now you are dating :)

She loves you though and at first she doesn’t really know how to show it

But one day you both come home from training and you just look at each other like ‘yeah today sucks’ and yall both just held each other for the rest of the day

After that, she decided that she wants to do that with you but like always

She’s holding your hand, kissing your cheek when you go shopping, etc. etc.

She really loves to cling to you because she always has this fear that maybe one day you’ll get killed or just disappear so she figures might as well hold onto you for as long as we’ve got

After missions, she’s running up to you and if you aren’t prepared for the tackle, you’re probably gonna fall

On dates too, like if you guys have to meet up for a date, she’s tackling you

On the subject of dates...

She doesn’t mind PDA, and while she might hold your hand or arm so that you don’t get separated

She also doesn’t mind wiping food off your face and eating it, only to then kiss the spot on your face the food was previously at

She will split her shopping load between the two of you, however she will be slightly pouty if she’s carrying more than you (she then cheers up when she realizes she can do more shopping to “balance” the two of you)

In private she’s very cuddly and kissy which honestly isn’t that bad until it gets hot

At which point she’ll just say turn on the ac or convince you to walk around in a tank top (or something like it) so that she can continue holding you

Tbh she prefers the big spoon, but if she’s ever upset you let her be the little spoon >:(

All in all a very loving girlfriend who tries her best to show how much she loves you by glomping you at any given moment.

Zenin Maki

Love language: acts of service and quality time

So you’re telling me that Maki wouldn’t immediately go out of her way to make sure her and her s/o can spend as much time together as possible?????

Like she’s super observant (which can cause her to be a bit harsh, see Yuuta) but she can always tell what’s bothering you

So if you’re upset that you haven’t been spending enough time together due to her being out on missions or otherwise busy she’s immediately running to finish her stuff and spend time with you.

((She’s very sorry, but on the bright side she brought your favorites!))

Maki is also an acts of service type

This mostly ties in with her kind of direct action way of thinking

She thinks she’s slick but you can always see her sneaking around to do small things like grabbing your laundry for you and folding it

She’s very much like if you love someone, you gotta prove it

Overall, dates with her are very intimate and personal to the two of you

Like she’ll take you to a frog pond you landed in during a fight once

Or you’ll take her to a street fair that serves this exclusive food that Maki mentioned wanting to try

However, Maki shows her love through quality time and acts of service and while she does receive love from these to a degree, she is very much a words of affirmation gal

She’s not insecure in her day to day life but she has her moments, everyone does

Sometimes, she’ll feel like shit and a failure and all she wants is for you to say that she’s doing amazing and that she’s a great girlfriend.

Inumaki Toge

Love language: Physical affection

Because of his curse, he can’t exactly express how he feels about you through words

He does text you frequently throughout the day (I’ll have to do a hc abt that someday)

But he’d prefer not to be on his phone to communicate if you’re right in front of him

So he does the next best thing and just smothers you in physical affection

He loves kissing you the most

Like he could spend hours just kissing you if you let him (please let him)

But in public, he gets if you’re not a big fan of pda he’s willing to tone it down as long as he gets kisses later in private

He’d still prefer it if you held his hand or linked pinkies maintaining touch in some way

Also, unrelated, but it means so much to him if you try to understand his sushi language

He knows realistically the foundation of any relationship is communication so already he’s at a disadvantage because of his curse

But if he sees you like take notes after he says something or start to need him to text you to translate, his heart is swelling

Like ‘omg this person loves me enough to learn a whole new language <333′

Another tangent but before you were together he was struggling so muchhhh

Like how does one express their feelings for someone without words?

If you’re Inumaki, you buy some flowers and text said person to meet you at a cafe

It took an embarrassingly long time for you to realize it was a date, but once you did, you ever so gently linked pinkies with Toge

Okkotsu Yuuta

Love language: words. of. affirmation.

He’s literally so sensitive please tell him you love him regularly

In return he’ll be sure to tell you how much he loves you too

He knows that he can’t really be there for you as much as he’d like but he likes to let you know that he’s thinking of you

Doesn’t matter the time, if you call, he’s answering

If he doesn’t he’ll cry he’ll immediately call you back and is apologizing for missing your call

You assure him it’s no big deal but the man has his volume turned all the way up and changed your ringtone to one specific for you by the time you’ve even said hey

Aside from that, he really is sensitive

He’s been through a lot especially with Rika as well as growing up alone and bullied

So for him, it’s everything to hear that you like having him around and don’t think he’s too much or anything like that

Of course, he gets better with time, trusting you and having the confidence in himself to not need constant assurance

That being said, if you ever just whisper in his ear, “I love you, Yuuta.”

That’s not your boyfriend, that’s a puddle of love on the floor

(Maki, Panda, and Inumaki had a field day when they saw him, Fushiguro now questions if Yuuta really is a respectable 2nd year.)

Gojo Satoru

Love language: gift giving and quality time

So Gojo doesn’t exactly get to spend a ton of time

Between missions, him beefing with higher ups, and you and him playing parent the baby sorcerers yall don’t exactly get time to go out much

In which case Gojo tends to default to two options:

He’ll either go the extra mile to try and spend time with you

Whether that be an at home date where he tries and fails to surprise you with a home cooked meal

Or a date out at a restaurant or cafe (which you tend to visit after his home cooking efforts)

OR he’ll bring you various souvenirs from his missions

He loves to spoil you, and if he could he’d probably bring you back a whole store’s worth of stuff

But alas, airport security regulations

Anyways, he loves to spoil you especially if he can spoil you with sweets because it benefits him in two ways

He treasures all the time you spend together, and he does try to overcompensate for his absence with gifts

Despite your assurances, it’s kind of a guilty pleasure at this point (just let him, trying to argue just goads him on further)

He doesn’t only buy you small things, he enjoys buying you outfits

And he especially likes seeing you in them

Kento Nanami

Love Language: acts of service

Y’all remember the episode where he killed that curse that was bothering that baker lady?? Yea that

He’s literally such an acts of service boyfriend it’s not even funny

Before you got together, he would memorize your coffee order and bring you a cup pretty much everyday like clockwork

Now that you’re togehter, he wakes up before you so h=that when you wake up there’s the smell of coffee throughout the house

When you come out of you’re shared bedroom and he’s just scrooling through his phone like “mornin’”

Of course you already made the bed and ironed his clothes because relationships are give and take

And then when you leave for your jobs in the morning, he kisses you and holds the door open for you

He’ll draw a bath for you if he gets home before you, if you let him join or not is up to you

Also, if you ever get sick, he’s actually the best

Like he isn’t the best cook but he can heat up soup and tea

He’ll run to the store while you’re asleep and when you wake up, there’s like a whole tray of food in front of you and he’s like ‘it’s important to eat and drink so your body can heal’

And when you inevitably fall asleep after eating and taking medicine at his insistence, he tucks you in and clears away the dishes, exiting with little more than a kiss to your head

Ryoumen Sukuna

Love Language: gift giving and acts of service

So like Sukuna never says he loves you...ever

But he does notice if someone or something’s making you uncomfortable, and if so, said entity’s head will be presented to you later that day

You also just so happen to be the only person he can tolerate being around him for longer than 20 seconds

He also loves to give you jewelry, he likes seeing you adorned in something from him

He also isn’t gonna just handle all your problems for you, he will push you to become stronger by training with you

He’ll also expect this energy to be reciprocated, as long as you’re pushing yourself to be better, he’s content with that

(He wants to see you grow because he’s scared that if he ever gets caught lackin one day you’ll end up dead)

He’ll never tell you or admit it, but Sukuna truly does care for you and hold you in a regard that he doesn’t have for others

So be grateful jkjk
