Like carlos and oscar being ao protective and slight possessive of pretty little wife??
Like always competing of who gets her pregnant
But at the same time not giving a shit cause they would be protecting that child with everything??
How would oscar work around carlos?
Would they also be together?
Like kissing and fucking???
Like I just Want more of them
Love you 😍 💋 💗 💓 💛 ♥️ 😍
okayokay i've spoken to bianca and she said she'd cool w headcanons

So, we know how it starts
Carlos catches them fucking and realise he likes what he sees
It's a surprise, a huge surprise, that Carlos was okay with it
But they didn't question it - they got on with things
The three of them didn't start dating, not until after she and Carlos were married
Which sounds kind of confusing, I know
But she and Carlos were married, she couldn't just be dating Oscar
At first, Carlos stops watching them fuck
He starts to join in, has his turn with his pretty little wife
He and Oscar would take it in turns
Weeks after they were married, after he and Oscar started taking things in turns, they stopped
They didn't stop fucking her, no
They stopped taking it in turns
The two of them together, they'd stuff her full, one in each hole
That was how the relationship started
It wasn't clear how it transitioned from just sex to a relationship, but suddenly she was kissing Carlos's cheek as she walked past
Suddenly she was treating Carlos the same way she treated Oscar
Kissing him whenever she could, letting him pull her into alcoves and behind doors
She did the same with Oscar, but she kept it hidden
Not from Carlos, though
There was no point in hiding it from him
One thing they never did was fuck in his bed
But Carlos began staying in the bed with them
Not his bed
But he laid there, arms wrapped around her while she laid against Oscar's chest
Soon they stopped hiding it
Soon it wasn't uncommon to see her holding Oscar's hand as she reached up to kiss Carlos
But still, it wasn't okay in their world
She was Carlos's girl in the eyes of everybody else
If somebody from another family caught her with Oscar, they'd surely kill him
So, when the three of them went out, Oscar was a few paces behind them, protective like a dog
God help anybody that threatened her
I'm convinced, if their relationship had been like this from the start, she never would have gotten kidnapped and Oscar never would have died
speaking of... that period
her pregnancy
it becomes a competition between the boys
who can get her pregnant first?
It's not that serious
They do a paternity test though, and who ever didn't father the baby gets to father the next
oh my god they have a whole brood
which is like three kids
I don't think they'd call the first kid oscar with them all being in a relationship together
But he'd still want to be a little racer
and their second born, their little girl, would still still grow up to run the sainz family
Oscar and Carlos wouldn't be together, not romantically
They'd become friends
Good friends at that
Everything with Y/N became a competition between the two
Not a serious competition, never a serious competition
they worked together to protect her and became the best of friends in the progress
like, high fiving during sex kind of best friends
They were so cute together
sometimes they acted like little boys
oh my god when they take their son karting together, it's so freaking cute
When carlos retires and hands control of the family over to their daughter, Oscar stays in his job
His protects her, keeps protecting the sainz family, his family

୨୧ distant love pt: 2 ୨୧
pairing: Rick Grimes ♡︎ fem!Reader
warnings: ୭̥⋆*。 canon typical violence, Rick is low-key a cheater (not on reader tho), not beta read we die like Carl
summary: ʚ basically a filler chapter from the CDC to the prison post-Woodburyɞ
Words: 2002
An: hey babies I wrote this on my phone again 😔 also i haven’t seen the earlier seasons in a very long time so mb if it’s not exactly accurate 😔😔
Part 1 Part 3
Tumblr media
You and Rick had kept your distance most of the morning. Looking at Shane’s black eye. “Dad, are you hungover? Mom said you would be.” Carl asks as Rick sits down at the table. You let yourself stifle a giggle at the kids' antics. Rick being drunk last night would explain his forward-ness.
You followed the group after breakfast as Jenner explained what exactly was happening to everyone. Why would the dead rise?
You watched as the x-ray video’s corpse re-animated. God that was scary. What was scarier was Jenner locking the doors. You covered your mouth as tears streamed down your face. “Oh my god.” you whimpered out.
You were going to die. You of course found yourself turning to Rick. Who was holding his wife and child? Your heart sinks.
Of course, he would be with them. You were a sidepiece. Why would he protect you? Care for you? He made his choice. It was one that you're going to have to be ok with. Even if you weren't going to live very long.
That's when the doors opened and Rick screamed for everyone else to get their stuff. You ran as fast as you could to escape. Avoiding the shards of glass that spilled everywhere Rick threw the explosive at the glass.
Your eyes rest on Lori and Rick as they sit in the front of the camper. You weren't sure how you could have ever found a real relationship with him. You think back to Lori’s words. Trying to push the two of you together. Your heart burned for her.
How low was she that she wanted her husband to sleep with another woman? You suppose she felt guilty for her and Shane being together. This was a different thought, wasn't it? Rick said he loved you. You weren't sure how much of that you believed.
It was you who saw the way Rick was after Otis accidentally shot Carl. It was you who hugged him, feeling his arms search for a sign that his boy was still alive. It was Rick who begged you to stay with him.
You wanted to, you really did. But that would have been inappropriate and unfair to Carl. This could very well be his last night alive. He shouldn't be confused about why you were there.
You see the color leave his face as he donates more and more blood to his son. Trying to comfort his wife but his eyes linger on your figure unfaithfully. Your curves would comfort him. Your soft skin and happy smiles. That's what he fell for.
He wished this wasn't the way it was. He wished he had met you instead of Lori. Marrying the first girl he could. I mean he did love Lori. As the mother of his children, he would always hold a place for her. She just wasn't you, was she?
You on the other hand shoved your feelings down, deeper than the Mariana trench. Trying to help keep the camp outside on Hershel's Farm going. Doing menial tasks like laundry or cooking. Offering to clean any weapons the group needed youto.
Trying to comfort Lori at every turn, silently becoming almost like a best friend to her. Holding her shoulders as if to say you're sorry for screwing her husband.
You used to help go on runs with Glenn and Maggie until you found them shaking up in the convenience store. It was cute to see young love budding, but seeing them naked was not something you were down to see again.
It made you jealous to see them so in love. You wished you and Rick could be that way. But alas, that's not what life has in store for you. Love. What a joke. A nimbly fickle thing.
You kept a good amount of distance between you and Shane. Not daring to go near him. One night you sat around the campfire with lori and carol. It had been a long day of playing catch-up with chores since Lori had been helping Carl rehabilitate.
“Alright girls, I'm off to bed,” Carol says with a tight-lipped smile. You and Lori talked a little bit about Glenn and Maggie.
“Y/n?” she asks looking up at you. Her gaunt and skinny face looks more and more malnourished these days. “Mm?” you ask, looking at her. “I-I know how he looks at you.” her voice barely above a whisper. You lick your lips, shaking your head.
“Lori, stop,” you ask her. Pleading almost. “You can't keep doing this to yourself, he loves you-” You try to keep your voice down but your heart breaks. “Y/n I'm pregnant,” she says.
For a second your world stops. The fires crackles keeping you grounded. You opened your mouth, unable to say anything. The amount of possible words dying in your throat. “I want it to be Rick’s. I need it to be Rick's,” she says, tears spilling down her face.
Your hands slip up to your face covering it. You let out a low breath. This wasn't about you. This was about her. You think over and over again trying to calm down all the raging emotions going through you.
“Does anyone else know?” you ask slowly, she must be feeling a whirlwind of things none of which you were entitled to have an opinion on. “Glenn does, I needed him to go out n get the tests,” she whispers straightening out her shirt, raising her hand up to her mouth and biting her nails.
Lori is absolutely exhausted, and you know more than ever she should be resting. You stay silent noting that neither potential fathers know she is pregnant. “I don't know what I'm going to do, Glenn has been trying to take care of me.” She gives a pitiful smile.
Her face was tear-stained, the streaks illuminated by the fire. “Well you need prenatal care no doubt.” you said scooting closer to her, grabbing her hands. “I think telling everyone will be the best course of action, when…” you said, pulling her into a hug.
“When you're ready,” you mumble against her shoulder. She thanked you with a sad smile standing up. You didn't sleep well that night. Not that you ever did now. You thought about the women in the next tent over probably also not sleeping.
You thought about the baby that was currently draining her of her energy. You thought of Carl. Recovering from a gunshot wound at such a young age, probably confused and scared most of the time.
And of course you thought of the man also sleeping in that tent. The one that seemed to consume your every thought. You thought of him always. It was a shame. You wished you were Lori sometimes. Sleeping in his arms pregnant with a baby.
You physically shake your head to rid yourself of your selfish thoughts. You were scared of Shane, scared of your feelings for Rick, and scared for Lori.
You were scared of the way your heart wanted to leap out of your chest every time Rick tried to talk to you. The way his rough hands would touch the soft skin of your arms. “Rick…” you breathe out trying to shy away from the older man.
The way he would beg you to stay close to him, his hot breath tickling your neck at his closeness. “This isn't the right time Rick.” you would whisper, eyes flicking up to see his teary ones.
Dark almost permanent circles surrounded his eyes. You pull away from his grasp and run out of the Greene’s house. You stood by Daryl's side as you read him shitty books you found on runs trying to provide him an ounce of comfort as he recovers from the bullet wound that Andrea gave him.
And be would try and provide an ounce of that comfort to you as the barn full of walkers is discovered. Taking all of your willpower not to vomit at the smell. Turning away from the group. Allowing yourself a moment, just a moment of selfish comfort.
As Rick’s arms wrap around you. Breathing in his musky scent. The sounds of the guns firing off still ring in your head. “It's ok, you're going to be ok,” Rick mumbles in your ear. His hand clasped gently in the back of your neck.
As soon as the moment is here it's gone as you see Shane’s angry face peering at the both of you from a few feet away. Your face fills with embarrassment, you rip away from his embrace instead choosing to hug Carol who was sobbing over the loss of her daughter.
You spent the next few days in a constant state of dissasostivate numbness. Unable to feel anything other than fear. Seeing Rick and Shane keep a man locked up in the barn for fear of what he could do.
Even though your group was the one keeping him held, handcuffed, and bound. As soon as he goes missing it seems to bring you out of your state as Shane comes running with a broken nose claiming that the prisoner ran away.
You ran into the house with all the women. Fearing for what was next. Trying to hide in case he came back with his group. Seeing all the panic spread through the group as the barn is set on fire. The horde of walkers attacking your slice of peace.
You barely make it out with your lives. Reconnecting with your group on the highway with everyone. Once again seeing Rick’s eyes falling on you as he hugs you with his family. You turn away from him, finding comfort in Daryl's embrace.
You watched as Rick distended into madness and anger after killing Shane. Demanding that whatever he said went. This was not the man you fell in love with. This was not the human your body craved comfort from.
Revealing how his son had to be the one to put his best friend down after he turned into a walker. Which was bizzare you never took him for type to get bit or even scratched.
That's when Rick reveals the delicate information that you all carry the virus. A crucial piece of information that sends the group into a frenzy of anger. You felt very sick. How could he keep that from you? From the group?
It only went downhill from there. Rick and Lori are always fighting as she grows more and more pregnant. The sheriff was unable to hide his anger towards her. Constantly on the run, even once you find and fortify the prison, the Governor and all of his bullshit wreaks havoc on the group.
It's been 6 months since Woodbury fell, you had a big group. Full of amazing people. A decent farm and garden. Life was decent. Judith was a beautiful baby girl.
You sighed setting your pencil down in the crease of your sketchbook. You had picked it up on a run not too long ago, at first mostly making a few sketches and doodles to entertain Carl.
Although lately, you have been trying to work through your feelings through the pages of the book. Unfortunately, most of them were about Rick. You always observed him when he was working in the fields.
You could almost see the heat radiating off of him. His t-shirt is clinging to his sweaty body. To his strong sculpted muscles. Fuck. He was so hot.
It brought you back to those nights in the quarry. His rough hands gripped your soft flesh. Back arching as you slammed into him. Tongues slipping into each other's throats.
You lick your lips slightly admiring your drawing. It was of a man who looked suspiciously like Rick. His tired haunted face and sculpted body were barely covered. “Hey.” a southern voice took you away from your explicit drawing.
You look up to see the man in your drawing staring right back at you.

Dreamers & Delusions- Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Male Merman x Female Reader
You didn't like the idea of moving to another state and having to have a new life, but you hated the idea of staying even more so. There was nothing left for you but misery and you were just so tired of it.
When you moved to the west coast to live with your grandmother things seemed different. For the first few months there you felt like you could finally breathe, but that was short lived. Little by little things started to get worse.
First your grandmother kept making little snide remarks about your lack of interest in you not wearing make up. Then your job at the local diner had you working double shifts on the weekend. Your ex blasts some stupid shit about your break up all over social media and two of your close friends ghost you. Oh and then you discover a beautiful little slice of beach.
The last one wouldn't be so bad you tell yourself, if it wasn't for the same old stalking creeps who bother you at work. The only bright side was the mean mugging merman lifeguard who was built like a fucking god and had the attitude to back it up. In short, he's an asshole. But you know the difference between the good, the bad, and I'm just doing my job assholes and he's a weird mix of all three.
At first going to the beach was like free therapy for you. You could relax and get away from your judgmental grandmother and the creepy customers from the diner, it was like heaven. But just like moving here, things got worse over time. Somehow your three stalkers found your slice of heaven. Somehow you couldn't get far enough away from them. Somehow the beach became another slice of hell.
So you decided to sit as close as possible to the lifeguard when you wanted to lounge or swim out as far as possible. And that seemed to work, until today.
"Come on, I'm just asking you to have dinner with me," Kevin hovers over you, his arms crossed like an indignant child.
"For the last time man she's obviously not interested in an asshat like you. She'd rather go for drinks with me," Martin chimes in, his overly tattooed body stinking of cheap cologne and lack of deodorant.
"You two are fucked if you think she's going with either of you. She needs a real man, someone who can take care of her," Sam pushes the two aside and kneels down next two you. "Ain't that right sugar?" The accent, nickname, and bad breath nearly combined has you retching.
That response unfortunately spurred an impromptu fist fight. Kevin and Martin started wailing on Sam and then Sam the fuckboy threw punches filled with sand and Martin got punch so hard he moaned which made Sam hit him below the belt and the-
"I SAID ENOUGH!"
The scene died immediately. The nearly seven or eight foot tall merman lifeguard prowled towards the three idiots and parted them like they were curtains. Sam was the first to flee followed by Martin and Kevin who kicked up a ton of sand as the skedaddled towards the parking lot.
Mr. Asshole lifeguard stares you down hard now, his yellow eyes burning into you.
"Why is it whenever you're on my beach those three headaches are sure to follow?" he asks, very very pissed off.
You've had a similar question come up at work whenever those three would cause a ruckus on your shifts.
You roll your eyes, "Unfortunately some guys don't understand the definition of the word 'No'."
"So that means they have to follow you around like a group of parasites trying to latch at fresh meat?" he asks.
His question throws you off so much and the image it implies makes you giggle.
He's a merman from another realm who's acclimating, I should cut him some slack.
"That uh isn't too far from the truth but in all honesty, they're trying to bother me so much that I eventually have to say yes just to get them to stop bothering me," you explain.
The lifeguard crosses his arms and looks to the ground in serious contemplation before looking back up to you.
"And is this normal courting behavior," he asks.
"Unfortunately it is for some, but it's bad and wrong. For me it's annoying and I get no peace. They bothered me at work and now they bother me here when all I want to do is relax," you sigh, feeling oddly relieved to have gotten this off your chest albeit in an educational way.
"I see," he nods. "So you are not attracted to those parasites?"
"Not. At. All." you nod back.
"Noted," he grimaces and turns to walk back to the guard tower.
"Hey wait! What's your name?" you call out.
"It's Tao," he says, stilling walking towards his destination.
You smile and shout your name back to him but instead of dismissing you like you thought he would he waves back before ascending up the tower.
So it's Mr. Tao, mean mugging asshole lifeguard and crusher of parasites.
~~~~~~~~~
Things seemed calm for the first few days after Tao broke up the fight between the creeps. They didn't pop up at the diner nor at the beach but you still kept close to the guard tower. Well as close as Tao allowed it. He gave you a strong lecture that you needed to sit at least seven feet away from the tower for safety reasons.
Your grandmother even relaxed on her remarks for a little bit but moved from makeup to your weight. Something about working with food adding some extra pounds. It was a new hurt, but you'd numb to it eventually.
Getting numb was your specialty at this point.
And somehow finding new ways to bother Tao, though that was more unintentional. At first it was the sitting too close to the tower, then it was swimming without suntan lotion even though it was cloudy. Then it was not having an umbrella for shade which he oddly enough provided one for you a day later along with a lecture and a half. It would have been super annoying to anyone else but you found it oddly cute.
He'd henpeck at some of the parents over their kids running amuck or scold some of the too rowdy teenagers but no one could say that this guy didn't take his job seriously. No one got hurt or even so much as sunburnt under his watch.
Until they came back.
You had worked a long ass shift Sunday and all you wanted was to go to the beach and lounge. It was a short walk from your grandmother's house and you always enjoyed tuning the world out on that little trek.
It wasn't sunny but it wasn't too cloudy either. It was the perfect day to take a nice beach nap, watch a couple episodes of your favorite cooking shows, and maybe bother your favorite lifeguard for a bit of suntan lotion that you seem to keep forgetting.
You saunter down to the beach and lay out your favorite tie dye towel and stretch. Scanning the scene you notice that it'll be a very very calm day, that is since it's a Monday after all.
As you're about to walk over to the guard tower a familiar and annoying voice stops you.
"Hey babe, it's been a while!"
Ughhh Sam.
You ignore him and keep heading towards the tower. You hear him run towards you so you pick up the pace but are dragged back as he catches your arm.
"It's fucking rude to ignore someone talking to you," Sam spins you around and holds you in place.
"Like you'd fucking listen you fucking parasite. How many times do I have to say no or I'm not interested for you to get it through your thick fucking skull you goddamn idiot!" you yell at him, hoping Tao will hear.
Sam shakes you before jerking you around, "A pretty thing like you shouldn't be talking like that, come on and be sweet."
You start kicking your legs and land squirming violently before headbutting Sam as hard as you can right into his nose. He curses but doesn't let go so you decide to go to bite his hand until you're suddenly being ripped out of his arms.
Thinking it might be Tao you turn to smile only to be assaulted with that nasty cheap cologne smell. You grimace and try to pull away from Martin only to get yanked away by Kevin.
To his credit, Kevin doesn't hold on tight and he actually turns his back to the others before they try to continue their game of tug-a-war with you.
Sam kicks Kevin in the shin but somehow Kevin is able to stand long enough to push you in the direction of the tower. Without saying anything he turns and decks Sam in the face. You're frozen in horror for a moment then turn to run to the tower only to be met with a brick wall called Tao.
"I see the parasites are back on my beach," he seethes before looking you over. He looks furious.
Before you have a chance to say anything he stomps over and grabs Sam by his neck and hoists him in the air. Kevin and Martin fall back on their asses before scrambling to get out of the way.
"When someone says no, they mean no. It is not an invitation to continue your inappropriate courting behavior," Tao tightens his grip around Sam's neck.
"F-fffuck you fish boy. I will get you fucki-ing deported for this! I saw er first," Sam grits as he flails about, face turning all sorts of shades of red.
Tao tosses him to the ground like a ragdoll and before Sam can catch his breath, Tao holds him down by just a foot alone. He kneels down till his knee is almost digging into Sam's throat and says something that makes that asshat still.
You feel your heart still when Tao turns to you and beckons you over. Taking little steps at a time as your feet feel like lead you come to a stop next to Tao and Sam.
Sam is pale as a piece of printer paper.
"Tell her," Tao snaps at Sam.
"I-I-I am sorry. I won't bother you here or at the diner again. I promise you'll never see me again," Sam stutters and shakes like a leaf in a hurricane.
"And?" Tao presses.
"I-I'm a lowly parasite unworthy of your time and presence," he cries.
Tao nods then looks to you, "Anything you want to add?"
You're taken back by the soft look on his hard face. His eyes look worried even though his expression is still pissy offy.
You shake your head and cross your arms to hold yourself.
Tao moves off of Sam and forces him up and threatens to call the cops if he ever shows his ugly face on his beach again. Sam quickly scampers away, tripping several times as he makes his way to the parking lot.
There's a strange numbing feeling building in your chest that is suddenly washed away when Tao gently touches your shoulder.
"Come on, let me go look over those wounds," he nods towards the tower.
All you can do is follow him silently, still shocked about what just happened. You're so used to just going with the flow, dealing with whatever life gives you and fighting when you can. You've never had anyone come to your rescue. Not once.
"I have something that will clean the cuts where they got you with their fingernails and some band-aids. Unfortunately there will still be some bruising from when they were tugging at you," he says, a tinge of regret in his voice.
He leads you to the steps of the tower an has you sit down while he climbs up and grabs his first aid kit. You silently let him fuss over you as you try your best not to cry. Even though it's his job it's the first time anyone has treated you with this much kindness in a long while.
"Thank you," you mutter, finding it hard to speak.
Tao sighs and rubs some more antiseptic ointment on your arm, "I had thought my last conversation with those three would have been the last. Those males really are thick in the skull... I'm sorry."
"Don't be, you still came to my rescue," you try and smile but a stupid tear slips down.
Tao stills his hand, "Did that hurt?"
You shake your head, "No no, just uh got some sand in my eye. I'm fine."
He glares at you but sighs, "Alright then. Try and stay out of trouble and for the love of the goddesses please tell me if those parasites bother you again, in fact tell me if anyone bothers you while on my beach."
"Why?" you ask, feeling a bit strange that he'd go that far for your safety.
"Why?" he repeats, almost not sure of himself. "Because I like peace and you come here bringing chaos, more so than the kids whose parents are stuck to their devices or the teens who shoulder fight in the ocean."
"You mean chicken?" you ask, trying not to laugh.
"Whatever it's called! You humans have a major lack of self preservation and it's a wonder you've lasted this long," Tao stands, sounding frustrated as hell.
You dust yourself off and stand up too, "Well it's a good thing you're here then Mr. lifeguard... Because if it wasn't for you-"
You cut yourself off when the realization finally dawns on you. If it wasn't for Tao, things could have gotten a lot worse, you could have been hurt or dragged off the beach.
"If you weren't here, I might have been hurt a lot worse than just some bruises and cuts," you finish.
"If I got to you sooner you wouldn't be hurt at all," he replies, his face riddled with guilt.
"Yes well, what happened happened but you still saved me so stop blaming yourself for something that was out of your control dammit, " you kick some sand in his direction making him roll his eyes.
"You are too forgiving and far too kind for your own good," he shakes his head.
Too forgiving? No, he did nothing wrong. Too kind, maybe. You always hated confrontation when you could avoid it so you just smiled through things and mustered on. What was the point in getting upset when anger never solved anything.
"You might be right about the kindness thing, but forgiving," you pause to laugh. "I wouldn't say I'm forgiving at all, probably more spiteful if anything."
Yeah that felt right but not in the correct way. If you were going to prove a point it was usually in the worst way possible.
"Noted," Tao raises a jet black brow. He has such an interesting look with his tan skin and white hair with black streaks on one side. It was like if a Hollywood action star and a kpop idol had a baby or something. He has black bands on his arms that start right after his shoulders and stop right above the elbow. His hair is slicked back most of the time but right now it's messed up from his one sided fight with Sam.
"So uh, I'm just going to go back over there and do what I was going to do and relax," you give him your most nervous goofy grin.
Tao, in his ever so Taoness just nods.
~~~~~
True to his word you never saw Sam at the diner again or Martin, but Kevin did come by ever so often. Kevin was less on the creep side now, apparently very very sorry for his behavior and how he made you feel uncomfortable.
It didn't excuse what he did even though he tipped extra now to make up for it whenever he did come in.
Your grandmother though started to get worse again. From your make up, to your weight, and now your resistance to wearing booty shorts to catch a man's eye.
"I'm not going to wear it and that's final. I told you time and time again I'm not comfortable wearing shit like that," you raise your arms and try to stomp off.
"You ungrateful bitch are you afraid of looking like a slut? There are models and actresses who wear this! Are you slut shaming them," your grandmother shouts at you as she practically walks on your heals.
"God no! I just don't want to wear! Can we just drop it please," you beg her.
"I'll drop it once you try it on and walk outside in it for awhile," she tosses the shorts at you and crosses her arms.
"FUCK. NO." you crumple them up and toss them back at her feet.
"You're supposed to humor me remember? That was part of our deal for you to live here," she crinkles her face and slaps your arms.
You crumple back a bit and bite your cheek as you curse yourself for ever agreeing to live with her.
"Not at the expense of my comfort. I'm not your fucking dress up doll," you say through your teeth.
"You're insufferable, fine we'll make a trade deal. Don't humor me, but you owe rent now. two hundred a month. I believe that's more than fair," she throws up her hands and kicks the shorts to the side.
"Fine, that's fine. I can do that much," you exhale in relief. "I gotta get ready for work ok?"
"Yes yes and... I'm sorry, you know I get hot real easy. It's why I'm alone. I just don't want you to be. I just want you to be happy and well," she sighs and picks up the shorts.
"I know," you respond, the numbness starting to set in at her very stereotypical response.
"I love you," she coos as she forces you into a hug.
You give her a limp hug so she won't have something else to bitch about and tell her you love her too.
She's always like this after you two fight, so loving, so caring like she used to be when you were a little kid. She's changed to much after granpop cheated on her. No one saw it coming, they had such a great relationship but that was just what they showed everyone. In private, they both ran hot and your granpop was no saint. He cheated since the dawn of their marriage, he just didn't get caught until ten years ago.
Ever since that happened you tried to keep yourself better guarded so you wouldn't have to hurt like your grandmother. Unfortunately you're a hopeless romantic with a record of getting your heart broken very easily. That's part of the reason for the drastic move.
~~~~~
"Fuck I hate these dead shifts," you groan as you clean your section for the third time this evening.
"Enjoy it while it lasts sweetheart. Once summer hits, you'll be begging for a dead shift," Denise says as she lounges against the door to the kitchen.
"I know, I barely survived the ass end of it," you roll your eyes.
Working here was a breeze to be honest, but working under Mikey the shift manager was hell. He loves playing Russian Roulette with shifts, especially close to holidays or birthdays. Jessica bitched him out so bad in front of everyone that if he scheduled her on her birthday or her son's birthday one more time she would burn this place to the ground.
Needless to say when your ex-wife raises hell to a full diner, you listen.
You've stuck onto her like glue ever since, you needed an angel here.
"Any plans after you cut out," she asks.
Oh yeah, you have plans. Change and skip your happy ass down to visit your favorite lifeguard. You can't help but smile at the thought.
"Mmm you do have plans," she grins back and wriggles her drawn on brows.
"It's not like that," you roll your eyes.
Yes Tao is attractive but you hardly know him. He's nice and predictable. Safe and just wants things to be at peace. He's someone you respect for that for sure, but you can't see yourself crushing over him. It would ruin the faint friendship you've slowly but surely built with him.
"It really isn't it. He's like you. The only other friend I have here and I don't need more than that right now," you explain.
She gives you a sad smile and nods, "I know baby girl, you're still resetting from all that bullshit."
Jessica is the only one who really knows your situation as you spilled your heart out to her a couple weeks ago after she took you out for drinks for your birthday. She held you and patted your head as you ugly cried for a solid hour.
"How about you, anything new and exciting," you quickly change the topic and Jessica beams.
"Oh you know, just a little date with Mr. Perfect," she grins.
"This will be date number five Jes, you're really serious about him aren't you," you tease.
She crosses her arms and tosses her hip a bit and smiles, "Listen, if you asked me a few years ago if I ever saw myself dating a wild fae with a beard that would make every biker in the states jealous then I'd say you're crazy. But here I am, about to go on my fifth date with my wild man and I'm as happy as a bee in a bouquet."
She goes over her past dates with you until Mikey interrupts saying that you both need to get back to work. His interference was cut short by Jessica poking him in the chest and lecturing him about how there's no reason for the diner to be fully staffed during a dead shift and got the both of you off hours early.
"There will come a day when neither of us have to come back to this shithole ran by assholes. Just assume that if I never return that I got swept off my feet to the fae wilds to have crazy hot wild fae sex everyday," she laughs as she shimmies into her leather jacket and lights a smoke away from you.
"And if I never return, assume that I magically saved up enough to start my own restaurant," you smile back.
That's been the big dream. A small tapas style restaurant that catered to humans and the fair folk. There are so few establishments opened that cater to their palettes and it's not fair. Food brings people together and you see it as a great way to mix the fair folk into your world. Problem is, you don't know a lot of fair folk aside from Tao.
Suddenly the lightbulb in your head goes off.
"That's it," you say under your breath before hugging Jessica goodbye and running towards the beach.
I can ask him what he likes to eat and start from there. This is doable! I just hope he doesn't mind playing a million questions.
~~~~~~~~~
"Hey Tao, are you up there?" you shout as you round the tower.
Without so much as a word Tao drops with a sandy thud.
"What did you forget now? It's too dark for sunscreen and too warm for a shawl. Water perhaps?" he guesses and turns to climb back up the tower but you quickly stop him.
"No no, none of that. I uh um... What do merfolk like to eat?" you ask.
"Why do you want to know? Is a male courting you or something?" he asks back.
"What? No no. It's just that one day I want to run a restaurant that serves food for the fair folk and you're the only one I know so...," you shrug to him and he blushes.
This big ass god like brick wall just blushed?
"Ah, I see," he clears his throat. "Well in that case I can create a detailed list of ingredients and dishes that suit a saltwater diet."
"That... That would actually be amazingly helpful. Wow... Thank you!" you grin but then remember that thing about courting.
"So what was that thing you meant when you asked if I was being courted?" you raise a brow.
Tao's eyes go wide and he has this nervous look on his face that you've never seen before. "It's uh, customary for the males of my kind to present a feast to a female they are courting. Usually a female has many suiters and picks whoever has the most impressive spread the privilege to continue courting her."
"Oh, that's interesting. I haven't heard much on mer culture and traditions so this is new to me. I'm sorry if the question made you uncomfortable," you apologize.
"No, no. It's just that no one has asked or even seemed a bit interested in my people's ways. They're just interested in me," Tao waves up and down to himself.
"Well if they were truly interested in you, they'd try to get to know you," you cross your arms, upset for him.
Tao nods and you can tell he's thinking really really hard about something until he shakes his head.
"How can you tell if someone is wanting to get to know you for reasons other than trying to get me to their... uh what is the human word for nest again," he snaps his fingers trying to think.
"Bed?" you ask.
"That's it, how would I know," he repeats.
"Hmm, that can be a tough one. Some people will really put in a lot of effort to make you think that they care when they just one a night of fun. Some will check in on you everyday till they finally get you into their bed and ditch you when they're done," you explain.
Tao looks disgusted, "And this too is normal behavior?"
"For the people who just want a good time and don't give a rats ass about someone's feeling, yes," you grimace.
"Is this from your personal experience or observation," he asks.
Tao's famous curveball question hits you right in the gut. You look away from him and hold yourself for a moment as the numbness builds.
"Yes," is all you manage to say.
"I am sorry. It seems my question was insensitive," he bows.
"It's fine, you're just curious. I'd rather help you not make the same mistakes that I had to. You're like the only other friend I have here," you admit.
Tao looks shocked when you say that, like you slapped him with a wet towel.
"You consider me a friend?" he finally asks after a long moment of silence.
Shifting a bit in the sand you bite your cheek and nod, "You're the only guy friend I have. I feel safe when I'm at the beach and you don't make me feel uncomfortable at all. I just... some things are hard for me to talk about ok?"
He nods and although his expression doesn't change much, there's a brightness in his eyes you've never seen.
"Is that ok? I mean if it's against your culture I understand it can be o-"
"No, it's alright. I just didn't think a human would want to be friends with me," he run his hand through his hair and stares at the ground.
"Well, I mean you do mean mug just about everyone you talk to but I know deep down you're probably just being on your guard and it's hard to be nice sometimes," you tell him.
"I see, so not being expressive keeps people away? Hmm what could remedy this without me having to give up my uh... mean mug," Tao cocks his head and crosses his arms.
"I'm not sure. Most people tend to like it when you're more welcoming and less upset looking all the time. Is your stoicism like some cultural thing?" you ask in turn. Turns out Tao is playing a million questions with you now.
"Yes. Typically we're only expressive with close friends, family, and our mates. They're the only ones who are supposed to see your true face," he replies.
"That actually sound reasonable and nice," you smile.
"Do humans not have something like that," he settles against the tower later, full into the conversation now.
"Yes and no. Some of us rely more on friends than family and vice versa. Some will rely on their mates alone if their family or friends aren't available. It can be all sorts of combinations really," you shrugs and lean against one of the pillars holding up the tower.
Tao looks up thoughtfully before his gaze settles out towards the ocean. There's a comfortable quiet between the two of you as the sun sets behind a cluster of grey clouds.
"Looks like rain," you comment.
"It's been smelling like a set of storms all week. Probably about to usher in some cold weather," Tao sniffs the air and sighs.
"Not a fan of the cold?" you shift in the sand and turn a little more towards Tao.
He shakes his head, "I grew up in a much warmer climate. If it ever got too cold we would sleep in our clusters or migrate. I can't do either here so I've just been adding more layers to my nest with every paycheck I get and buying the warmest clothes that fit me."
"I gotchya. I like some good mild weather myself. Not too hot or cold. By the way what will you do once winter hits? Beaches are usually closed once winter hits," you ask, realizing you might have to find another safe haven of sanity during that time.
"I'm not too sure, I haven't given it much thought," he admits. "At least I have a little time to consider a winter job so I don't have to hibernate."
"Yeah that would be... wait what?"

Never wake a sleeping Dragon - Yan!Viserys x fem!reader
Tumblr media
warning : yandere, obsession, implied overprotective, mentioning of death/war, hurt/comfort , fluff, kissing
Summary : Visery the king in him is the burning blood of the dragon. A thing that most of the people around him tend to forget he is "the peaceful" however when a new Queen is needed a heir for the kingdom the dragon awakes when a storm is starting to geather and obsession is forged. He will not let her get away from his dragon dream.
Info : Never imagined that I would be writting for Viserys but I like the idea of a quiete yandere type that goes full obsession when his love tries to flee. Afterall he is a Targaryen and everytime a Targaryen is born the coin decides the fate ;) And Paddy looks good so yeah....have fun;)
masterlist
~~~~~~~~~~~
The King of the Seven Kingdoms Viserys, peacefully the first of his name, was the ruler of King's Landing and all the lands. A man who had ridden one Balerion to the Black Death, the mighty beast that had been dead for decades. A man who was always eyed, especially by his brother.
Daemon, the only prince of the realm and his younger brother, on the other hand, was the picture of a Targaryen. Quick-tempered, insanely brutal and lusting after blood and fire. But his brother Viserys was peaceful, enjoying the simple pleasures of music, jousting and building stone decorations.
The sleeping dragon was what his enemies, the common people and the king's court called him. A dragon on a throne who slept and sent his brother and troops instead of unleashing his wrath.
A man who mourned all his lost children with his first wife Aemma Arryn until his only child Rhaenyra was born. The princess of the realm of the rich and handsome.
The beautiful image of her mother and the fieriness of her uncle Daemon who was devoted to his niece. The dragon was happy for some time, his dream, his dragon dreams had shown him a son, another prince, and when his wife became pregnant again, the queen gave birth to the son Baelon through the blood of the falcon and the dragon.
The king was filled with joy, but this was to be taken from him. His own wife condemned to death, his son dead and his daughter turning away from him in her own grief, he had lost everything.
He had lost his flames, his dragons and seemed completely alone. Alone in his chambers, just himself and the dim fire in the fireplace, the unfinished Valyria and the wine at the table. The dragon seemed to have lost his own.
The gaze of the violet eyes of the tired, haggard man had turned away from the fireplace and was looking at the picture of his wife, the painting he had had painted.
Until a knock at the door made him look up. ,,Away!" he had said loud enough for the person to disappear but when his door opened he placed the portrait on his bed and rose to confront the intruder.
The glow inside him seemed to spark and he wanted to be alone. ,,I said I want to be alone!" he hissed and was about to reach for his sword when he saw a woman a little older than his daughter, a lady in waiting, a then still young chick from his wife, the rest of her.
He vaguely remembered her from his grief, how she chose her ladies in waiting, how the ladies enjoyed themselves and spent time together. But after her death they were all gone, he had given them money and sent them back to their families, except for her.
She stayed, her relatives died in the battles in the kingdoms. She was the lady of the house without a seat without a stay and now the only lady-in-waiting who held on to Aemma.
,,My lady… what can I do?" He asked, his voice no longer angry but tired and exhausted. He sat back in the armchair and covered his face with his hands. ,,My king? Lord Hand has instructed me to bring you some food," he heard her voice, still caring for him despite his suffering.
Her king. She should be mourning her kings friend. What sacrifice from such a woman he thought and raised his eyes to her dark black dress. Grief. Saw her coming towards him a moment before he waited for her to sit next to him on the chair.
They had not seen each other since the funeral of his Aema and Baelon, days in which he had not seen her. His Aemma-no, her smile. ,,That's very kind of you…do you mind staying?" he asked her and it seemed to him that as the king, the man with the most power, he was asking her permission.
He saw how she didn't hesitate, how there was only a brief flash of uncertainty about his well-being. ,,Of course, here's some tea from the Maestar," she said and Viserys shifted in his seat even though he was only wearing his loose shirt and trousers, the jewelry on his body made him look better.
Putting on his expensive clothes, however, meant going back out there, following the sad eyes to a throne without her. Glancing at her, his violet eyes watched as she handed him the plate of bread and eggs, the bacon still warm, and he felt his stomach actually craving food.
Only wine and drugged flowers were not food, at least not what he was supposed to have. Until suddenly he heard a cry of pain and wheeled around to face her. Almost throwing the plate aside, he saw that the boiling water had splashed on her hand by coming up in the goblet. ,,Wait," he said hastily and took the cup from her hand and the pot.
The vapor, the heat showing effect on her hand red hot and hurting her. Like the flame of a dragon. ,,It's… all right Viserys," she pressed out, tears in her eyes saying something else and at that moment he didn't feel helpless, not intimidated. He was alive. The fascination, his dream.
The fire, his son. ,,Burned by fire-I mean, did you burn yourself very badly? Wait, I'll get something," he said, feeling his thoughts racing as he rose from her, she would end up making the dream real, replacing his imagination. This woman in smoke and flames?
He fetched a pain-relieving ointment from his bedside cabinet and came back to her, seeing how she had pulled out her handkerchief to dry her tears, but the trembling of her hands made it rather sluggish. ,,Thank you Vis-forgive me my King but you don't have to" she insisted as she watched in panic as the King knelt before her, his hands gently and lovingly taking the cloth and wiping away her tears.
His violet eyes did not leave hers and he saw this dream more and more clearly as she looked at him with respect, gratitude and something he could not interpret. Something he was only told later by his brother. Fear.
,,Please, I insist that your tears should not be shed any more. A gentle healing as opposed to the flames," he murmured, pleased when he saw that she had stopped crying and gave him a grateful look. Applying the slab to the wound the burning disappeared after a few minutes the warmth remained but the fast beating heart in her chest from the shock was slow to recover.
,,Thank you my king… I should go, my presence disturbs the mourners" she replied to him and rose from her seat, the handkerchief falling into his hands before she hurried to the door. The flower in the face of the sleeping dragon, the pretty coin unused and still open to a hand.
As if possessed by something else, he reached for her hand and held it, not wanting her to leave. ,,My lady, please… I expect you to stay with me," the words of the tone that was a command left his lips at the same time. She had no chance of escaping from this room and the flower had no choice but to give up her pretty goodness to him of her own free will. She came back to him, sat down next to him and stayed with him.
She kept her king company as he commanded and for the first time something like joy, devotion and perhaps love seemed to return to the king's heart.
It was a feeling that had consequences, for in the days and weeks that followed, this feeling was transformed into something found in the Targaryen madness. As the blood of the dragons flowed, the king felt a sense of ownership.
She was his possession and for the first time the dragon in him seemed to stir and finally get rid of the name of the peaceful one.
Something his lovely counterpart had no idea what it meant to face a Targaryen.
The next few days and weeks changed to a different rhythm. Instead of Alicent, the daughter of the hand, the king always had the lady called to him, seeking her company at any given time.
In the morning at his breakfast, he had her called to him, his violet eyes showing joy when he saw her figure, the tip of her nightgown sticking out from under her dark robe.
,,My king, you wanted to see me again," she said and joined him at the table where she sat down opposite him. She knew that he was lonely, her beloved Aeamm was dead and she felt guilty for giving comfort to the king as well as the princess and heiress.
The princess Rhaenyra without a mother, who had often come to her, had taken her lovingly in her arms and cried together while they had been more closely connected. But Viserys felt almost uncomfortable in the face of the dragon.
Rhaenyra the young dragoness her warmth was healing but his fire was burning. She had always liked to be there for her king and somehow also a friend, but now it seemed like the stories in the Masters' books. Every Targaryen is a dragon and a dragon obsessively searches for its treasure to guard.
But something told her that Viserys would gradually fall for this side of the infamous coin. Something she was right about and yet she had no idea how far this would go.
The pair's breakfast was quiet as she saw the king's smile, something that made her happy inside, but as the days and weeks wore on, the dragon's fire seemed to tighten around her. When she was not with Rhaenyra, Alicent or her own advisors for her house, she was always seen with Viserys.
The dragon took the first step when he got up one evening after dinner and fetched a box big enough to store several things in. ,,My dear, I want to thank you for everything you have given me in the last few weeks…I could finally smile again and feel something special," he began and opened the gift of a dress and a necklace for her.
,,Viserys this is a sign of unbelievable craftsmanship I can't accept this" she said and turned away the fear that he would command her again was there but the fear of losing her king and husband of her beloved friend and queen into this darkness again no she couldn't do that. Wasn't it everyone's duty to keep the king happy no matter what the cost?
But the blond Targaryen would not be beaten, he had not just let her body mass give way to images.
He had taken her as far as he could from the outside. With the dress, the fabric he had chosen, the necklace of the best metal of Valyrian steel and the ruby, he would touch her for all to see and make her his. ,,But I insist, my love, on a dress as a token of my gratitude for what you have done," he continued, handing her the fabric, a look of shame on her face as she realized he wanted her to try it on.
Looking around, however, she saw that he must have taken precautions because a partition carved out of fine wood with dragon motifs and legends stood in the room that had not been there before. ,,Please, I insist," he said, not necessarily emphatically, but she knew what he meant.
She could not ignore an order from the king. The fabric of the dark dress was surprisingly warm, like the scales of a dragon, and even if he no longer had Balerion, she knew he could have taken any dragon that was still alive or about to hatch.
His violet eyes lay on the wood seeming to peer through it to see her soft body and the dragon's violet eyes showed lust and devotion as she stepped forward a few minutes later.
,,I-I look like a Targaryen," she murmured, the dark black dress with the red embroidery of a dragon and the finest gold escaping her thoughts. It was not the colors of her house, it was not the color of her Aemma, its colors were the colors of King Viserys Targaryen.
He came up to her and circled her, running his hand carefully over the fabric, ,,Handsome and beautiful," he murmured the words of praise before he stopped behind her and she heard the faint tinkling of metal as she listened to the chain.
She held her breath as she felt the cold Valyrian steel around her neck and ran her fingers over it. ,,A Targaryen you will be too for I have decided my love I want you as my new wife as the new Targaryen Queen" he said taking her hands and for the first time she saw his own madness of the dragon flicker in his eyes.
A will of the King a will that made her cry because even though she liked him and had certain feelings for him, a marriage, becoming Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and the responsibility that came with it to bear him children was true.
She couldn't say yes but that's how he knew he could force her…and he did. The first traces of his obsession with his madness were laid the day he married her in the tradition of his house.
The tradition she could not escape. And even if only years later he married his second wife Alicent, the story of the Dance of the Dragons would play out as it was foretold, until then his madness with his second wife his flower was the only thing that mattered.
Her colors of the house long forgotten only reflected in the ring her mother had left her, the lands of her house given to a distant relative whose right to finally see his second niece was punished with wrath by the king.
Viserys for the first time any lords who even dared to question the second queen found themselves impaled on the castle walls, their tongues severed or burned by Syrax, Meyleys or Caraxes when the king ordered his kinsmen to do so.
,,All this because of a woman who doesn't even come from a significant house," she had heard Lord Corlys say, who was on his way back to Driftmark with his wife and the two of them had met with Rhaenyra and Daemon.
The king himself knew from the trouble she was causing that lords and ladies were already looking around whispering about what was going on with the king.
,,Help me my lords my princess," she had dared to join the group, the dark colors on her now like an endless dragon pit where fire awaited her every night.
Viserys didn't let her out of his sight, she slept in his bed every night and even though she tried to love him, she was always trying to return the physical contact with kindness.
With each night, with each time, she saw more and more marks on her body that he left behind, not painfully, but she knew that the fabric of her clothes could hardly cover them any more. She had waited as the king released his anger on her kinsman and banished him from the city.
He had robbed her of her right to the title of Lady of the House. ,,Targaryen should marry houses from Valyria the simple flower perishes in fire" she had begged the group Rhaenyra who had asked her for help so many times had tried to help her.
But with every attempt they made to dragon, to bot or to escape with the carriage everything was blamed on a mysterious attenat by the four of them.
But every attempt failed, and the kingdoms watched as the news of Alicent Hightower's second pregnancy spread through the realms with joy in this delight to the fear of Corly, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and Daemon Visery's second wife.
First Aemma Arryn died the second wife full of mysteries and strange events the jewel of the king which suddenly disappeared and the third wife who brought peace and war for the future.
But what they all didn't know was that in the depths of the castle, when the king went down with the torch in his hand, he went further in than even his brother probably knew.
The old forgotten Valyrian part and influence revealed itself. ,,My dear, I'm back…did you like the metal?" he asked as he walked through the common room past the cells where he had spiked her after her four "attacks". He wasn't stupid he knew that his own daughter and brother had tried to "save" her with his cousin and her husband.
He knew that they did not approve of this marriage, neither politically nor personally, she had only wanted to return to her home to the last people she had left.
Her friendship with Rhaenyra and Alicent was over. Now she would never escape from the castle again, nor from him
Pulling the key from his robe, he unlocked the large door to the cell. The metal gave way and the bolt was pushed back, which was once for the most serious criminals or the people most in need of protection.
It was the place where the king could finally turn to his true treasure. Not his daughter, his wife, his son or his brother. He was with her, with his true dream, with the woman who would bring him his son and promised prince.
Walking into the great room he saw his beloved his Targaryen the clothes he had brought her the clothes he had given her all in the black and red of the house the jewelry, books and paintings were to entertain her when he was not there. When the dragon didn't come to her in his madness, she prayed almost every night and even though time passed, her belly didn't swell.
No child wanted to grow inside her, but no, it wasn't her fault, it was something else he was sure of. Because when he took her, the shadows of her dragon reflected on the wall and the sounds of her love echoed through the room, he knew that the prince had to spring from her womb.
,,My pretty wife... tell me, how are you feeling?" he asked, walking over to her armchair, where she sat, as always, in front of the fireplace with a book on her lap and an absent look in her eyes.
Fear had been reflected in it at first, but after an indefinite time every house broke under the dragon sooner or later. He knelt down in front of her and took her hands in his, cold and not warm like him, the smile that played around his lips threatening to tip over. The madness only ever lasted until a dragon was no longer entertained.
The grip on her hands tightened for a moment, becoming painful until she finally looked at him. ,,Viserys...you're back...how did it go?" she asked as usual, obviously pretending to him that she was still living on the Hoffe with the others. As if she was always waiting for an opportunity to leave.
But they both knew that she would never leave this room again. ,,The lords are satisfied for a while, don't worry my queen, tell me how your prince is doing" and he put his hand on her flabby belly where even after the countless nights of trying. In trying, she had tried to see all this as a story, a book of the lost maiden who would finally be free when she gave birth to the king's son.
But it seemed that with each passing month everything would become less warm, the fire in the fireplace not warm, the clothes on her no color and his love was the madness of the dragon she had never seen so strong. ,,I try my king every tincture, every meal...even the old books but I don't carry your seed" she murmured and looked at him the violet of his eyes just like Rhaenyras and Daemon's she missed the court, her friends and the sun.
Now she would never be able to escape from the castle or from him. Pulling the key from his robe, he unlocked the large door to the cell. The metal gave way and the bolt was pushed back, which was once for the most serious criminals or the people most in need of protection.
Viserys let out a disappointed sigh he knew it wasn't because of her she never did she was young and of Targaryen blood there had to be a child someday. His hand went from her leg to her hands and took the book from her, his specially chosen book on Valyria.
She knew that ever since he had given her the keldi that he had made her into something. A Targayren tried to transform her in one way and another. His hand slid gently over hers, its softness stimulating, it was something like another time.
But when his other hand slid down from her flat, bare belly and stroked the fabric of her legs, she knew exactly what he wanted. What he was here for almost every time. His initial gentleness soothing the kisses, hugs, gifts and caresses.
But his other way the coin that was thrown this madness was burning. ,,I know you're trying my love and I'll be there for you...for our child" he said softly as he lifted her out of the chair and gave her a kiss.
His warmth burned on her like a fire but it was the only thing she felt that was still real as she returned the kiss. her arms slowly wrapped around him, clinging to the dragon's scales, her knees to his wings, feeling the warmth of his fire as he gently stroked the kelid from her body.
The dragon laid her on the tower of coins, the bed of old wood carved with signs of Valyria. His gestures, words and pain the lust mingled with the pain. But she seemed to react to him again after a long time, to finally feel that burning sensation inside her.
But she looked at him saw the dragon the madness and perhaps it was because of the flames of the fireplace that she saw Balerion the black dread in the shadows, Viserys rising as the dragon Valyrias.
She herself was seized by the fire when she felt him again, as she did every night. But this time it was different it seemed the uncertainty was burned out of her the house she once belonged to the name was irrelevant.
She mattered as his queen...as the woman who would bear the promised prince to the king. Perhaps she herself had fallen into the madness of the Targayren before all this, and now rose as a dragon from the flames.
Part One: Blood, Sweat and Tears
Gone. The word echoed through your head like a broken record as you sit motionless against the rusting fridge in your poor excuse for a kitchen. The moment you saw the crew walking back to you, sans Steve, with their heads hung low, you knew. Dustin's eyes met yours, heavy with emotion and you couldn’t contain it. He wasn’t coming back.
The last few hours have been a blur. Robin driving you home, offering to stay the night, pushing aside her own needs post Upside-Down to make sure yours were accommodated first. But all you wanted, needed, right now was to be alone. The second she shut the door to the trailer behind her, the silence filled the space and it all came crashing down.
He’s gone, and he didn’t even know.
From the get-go, you and Steve had never been anything serious. You had started out strictly friends-with-benefits, a name on one another’s rotating rosters. But as the year passed, you began spending time with his circle and cutting out the other men in your life. He introduced you to Robin, who you immediately clicked with and twisted Keith’s arm until he offered you a job at Family Video with the duo. You would accompany him on “babysitting” duties, as Dustin often insisted on your presence to keep Steve in line. Despite the casual nature of your relationship, you and Steve had grown closer by the day. You knew he was still seeing other girls, but that didn’t bother you. After all, that’s all this was meant to be: casual, detached.
And then that fucking test happened.
It started off as a slow Tuesday morning with Robin, the two of you using the front counter of Family Video as your personal breakfast bar. You unwrapped your monstrosity of a meal, a PBJ sandwich with pickles and Hot Cheetos on the side.
“Jesus Christ, did someone hold you hostage and force you to make that?” She gawked at your sandwich, inspecting the leftover half as you shoved the soft white bread into your mouth. You let out a dramatic hum as the salty yet sweet combination hit your tongue, quickly following it with the heat from the Cheetos to ensure maximum taste to texture impact.
“Shit, so good! Don’t knock it until you try it. It’s like sex in your mouth.” You replied, the thick peanut butter coating your teeth and muffling your words. Robin dropped the sandwich down on the counter, clearly not about to partake in your offer to share this morning.
“I’ll take your word for it. I’m happy with my choice, thank you very much.” She proudly unwraps her breakfast muffin. Thick orange American cheese hangs over the lip, nestled between fatty bacon and a sunny-side up egg. You wrinkle your nose in disgust, waving your hand in her direction.
“Oh god, get that away from me! The smell of the egg-” You shake your head, pacing a few steps backwards to get away from the stench of her unappetising breakfast choice. She quirks her brow at you, you can practically see the cogs turning in her brain.
“You love my Buckley McMuffins.”
“Not today, I don’t.” You can feel your stomach churning, and reach for your large cherry slushie, hoping the sugary-sweet drink will quell the storm brewing in your tummy.
Robin’s expression begins to morphe as she studies you intently, like a child fascinated by their favorite animal at the zoo. You, on the other hand, are not so impressed by her gawking.
“What?!” You snap, slightly irritated. Immediately, you feel a wash of guilt come over you, why did you just snap at her like that? “Sorry, I didn’t mean-”
“You and Steve are using protection, right?” You practically choke on your slushie at the candidness of her question so early in the morning.
“Robin!”
“I don’t need all the details of your sex life. I’m just wondering-”
“Of course we do! God, the last thing I need right now is a kid.” You shake the mere thought out of your head.
“Yeah, no totally. I mean, pregnancy alone is a lot to deal with, y’know, what with all the cravings and hormones making you snappy and irritable-”
“Robin.”
“- not to mention the nausea-”
“I had a bad fish taco last week! And I-”
“-Restlessness, acne, your boobs get massive-”
“Robin! I-” You shake your head at her insinuations. “Wait, do you think my boobs have gotten bigger?”
Her eyes widen as she nods her head. “Um, hello! You’re giving the Elvira cut-out a run for her money. We should take her down and just have you stand in the window.”
Oh, she’s serious. You let out an incredulous laugh.
“Absolutely not, like there’s no way! I mean, Steve and I are careful. Like, most of the time. And I would have noticed by now if something was off? Like, yeah, my period has been a bit all over the shop lately but that’s normal…” Robin squints slightly at you as she watches you subconsciously shift from trying to convince her to trying to convince yourself. The realization begins to wash over you, and you feel the pit of your stomach drop. “Oh, fuck.”
The two of you took an extended lunch break to take a trip to the store, and three tests later, your fears were confirmed. Your head began racing a million miles an hour, and thankfully Robin was happy to cover for you for the rest of the day. How were you going to tell Steve?
And then, suddenly, there was no time. Now, you’ll never have the chance to tell him.
A gutteral sob left your throat before you had the chance to register it, bringing you crashing down to reality. Sitting on the laminate floors of your cramped kitchen, the overhead fluorescent illuminating your shaking legs extended in front of you. Unable and unwilling to hold back your emotions any longer, you opened the floodgates and allowed tears to flow freely down your cheeks. The type of pain where it felt like your heart was being crushed in your chest, diaphragm spasming as it struggled to keep up with the pace of your sobs. You tucked your knees into your chest and hugged them tightly, as if willing to vanish from this world completely. You’re not sure how long you stay there for, time seemingly pausing for your pain. It’s not until you hear a sharp knock at the door that you’re snapped back to reality.
“Go away, Robin.” She really is a wonderful friend, but seeing her in this state is the absolute last thing you need right now.
Another knock.
You throw your head back against the cool surface of the fridge in defeat before getting to your feet. Wiping away the streaks of tears that now stain your puffy and pink cheeks, you make a miniscule effort to pull yourself together as you walk to the door, hoping to make this interaction brief.
“Robin, please, just go home-” You swing open the creaking door, running a hand over your face in exasperation. Instead of being greeted with Robin’s smaller frame, you’re instead confronted with a taller, darker frame. Despite being obscured by the dim night, the mess of hair crowning his head is unmistakable.
“Eddie?” As he takes a step closer to the door, you can now see he’s looking worse for wear, despite having cleaned up post Upside-Down. Fresh cuts mark his face, dirt under his fingernails indicate his attention wasn’t on the details of his appearance.
“Hey.” He quietly mumbles, staring down at his stained Reeboks. “I, um- I just wanted to see how you were going.”
You purse your lips together, trying to keep the floodgates closed until you are back in your bubble of solitude.
“Yeah. I’m- I’m here.” That’s the best you can do right now, here sums it up. You’re still here, unlike Steve…
You scrunch up your face into a forced smile, hoping that will satiate Eddie. He gives a solemn nod, clearing his throat as he contemplates his next words. He shifts his weight uncomfortably, and you can’t help but wonder if someone has sent him here to check up on you. Dustin, perhaps?
“Well, I’ll uh- leave you to it.” He chews nervously on his lower lip, sure to break one of the fresh scabs that has begun to crust over. “But um- y’know if you’re ever not okay or just like, need some help or company or whatever- you know where to find me.”
He gestures to the adjacent trailer, and you give a small but more genuine smile.
“Sure, Eddie. You too, okay?” He gives a nod and a small wave as he turns back to his home, and you close the door behind him.
You lean against the frame and pull up your oversized sweatshirt, pushing the thought of how it once belonged to Steve out of your mind. You peer down at your slightly swollen belly, a barely noticeable bump protruding but undetectable to anyone who was unaware. You take a deep inhale as you run your fingertips against the delicate skin.
It’s nice to know you’ll never be completely alone.
Stiles figures out the whole werewolf thing when he’s nine years old, and never mentions it.
Not when he’s eleven and his dad is stressing over mountain lion manslaughter, when he’s fifteen and his best friend ditches him for the Hale brood, or when he’s seventeen and Cora punctures his tires with claws after he beats her out for first place in a countywide Young Writers competition.
If the Hale’s want to kill supernaturals invading their territory, that’s their right. If Scott wants to pretend they weren’t once brothers to each other just because he’s no longer dangerously asthmatic or socially stunted, Stiles can accept that too. And if Cora wants to take out her petty frustrations on Claudia Stilinski’s jeep - well, fuck yes will he get his vengeance but he’s certainly not going to blackmail her just because she’s stupid enough to pop claws in broad daylight.
(Instead Stiles threatened to leak photos of Cora making out with her twin’s ex-girlfriend in the bathroom of the local diner - time stamped before they broke up. It was enough to make her personally change and finance his baby’s tires, plus teach the stunted bitch a lesson on messing with Stiles.
It may also help the girls' dismal attempts at subterfuge.
He doubted it, though.)
For all that people go on about Stiles not being able to keep his smart mouth shut, he’s very good at saying nothing of substance.
In the end Stiles moved away for college without anybody discovering he knew all about Beacon Hill's supernatural secret.
(He warded the Sheriff’s house to kingdom come. It was subtle enough that the local pack wouldn’t notice, but if anything looking to hurt his dad came bumping through the night they would sooner be burned to ash than touch a hair on the Sheriff’s oblivious human head.)
Stiles gets the call on Christmas Eve.
Parrish - the only Deputy he doesn’t have a file full of blackmail on - tells him his father is in the hospital and might not make it. He says he hasn’t been shot when asked, but stays vague when Stiles demands to know what happened even as he throws together a bag and sends an all-caps text to Jocelyn, a study partner who works at the airport and will be able to get him on the soonest available flight to San Francisco.
Stiles emotionally manipulates and cajoles and blackmails, and still gets nothing more than vague replies from Jordan. Clark, Whittings and Jones don’t answer their phones.
When Stiles gets to Beacon Hills heads are going to roll.
- Stiles pulls into Beacon Memorial at three in the morning Christmas day, parks in the first spot he sees (because fuck reserved parking) and hightails it towards the nurse’s station.
“Get me the status of the Sheriff,” he orders a vaguely familiar nurse, who doesn’t even bat a lash at his brisk tone. The hospital staff is almost as familiar as the police force; they helped raise him when his mother couldn’t, and even after, when he hung around after school with Scott.
Beacon Hills residents acknowledged that Stiles Stilinski didn’t mess around about his father's health.
(When Stiles was fourteen the Sheriff got shot in the gut. The condescending prick of a doctor who refused to give ‘a child’ information on his father was fired, ruined, and run out of town within the month.)
“He was found with a head wound but it’s stopped bleeding, and I know his vitals have stabilized,” she says, first off. “You’ll have to ask his doctor for more information, hon. Room 317.”
Stiles doesn’t relax, can’t until he sees his father is perfectly alright for himself, but he nods and tries for a smile. It strains across his face and drops within a few seconds, so he turns and makes for the ICU.
“And Stiles?” calls the nurse. “He has visitors.”
It turns out ‘visitors’ means that there are three Hale’s, an Argent, and an ex-best friend hanging outside the Sheriff’s room. Stiles feels well on his way to bashing in a couple of faces, especially when Scott looks up at him like he’s an injured puppy and says, empathetic, “Stiles.”
See, this is why it took some convincing to get Stiles to accept his full-ride to NYU. Stiles just fucking knew that his dad would get drawn into supernatural shit while he was gone, and he had been stupid enough to believe that the Deputy’s would actually do as ordered and keep him updated on more than just his father’s eating habits.
Oh, he would be having words with Robins.
Out of the assembled Hale’s - Talia, Laura, and Peter - two look long-suffering and one is arranging their face into something resembling sorry. Chris Argent is showing no emotion but the way he watches Stiles is careful, almost wary. And Scott just looks plain guilty, which isn’t a good sign for his continued health because Stiles has killed to keep his dad safe before and he would damn sure do it again.
(Maybe he’ll kill them all, if the Sheriff dies.)
Stiles drops the calm facade that he’s been clutching at for the past twelve goddamned hours, takes a step forward, and stares down the local Alpha.
“What are you doing here?” he demands. It’s inconspicuous enough, something an oblivious human would ask when apparent strangers were crowding the waiting area.
“Stiles, isn’t it?” Talia asks, standing to meet his height and reaching out for a handshake. He doesn’t spare the limb a glance, narrowed eyes demanding answers. “We were assisting your father on a case when he was injured. We’re here to make sure he’s alright.”
Stiles modulates his scent, his heartbeat, his rage. His eyes turn to Scott and a sneer pulls at his mouth. “You too, Scotty? Were you helping my father on a case?”
Scott McCall is a terrible liar and everybody knows it.
His throat bobs, his eyes dart to Talia, and then to Chris, and then back to Stiles, who is considering punching his lights out.
Peter Hale is Talia’s enforcer. Laura Hale is set to inherit the mantle of Alpha. Chris Argent is the local hunter. They all have a reason to be here, to be involved, but Scott - Scott is just a beta, which means Scott is probably what pulled the Sheriff into this mess. Why else would a low ranking, bitten wolf be here?
“I, uh. Yeah, I was. Y’know. Helping. There were animals involved, and I’m studying to be a vet, so, aha, he - he was going to ask Deaton, but he’s… out of town. So your dad ended up consulting me instead?”
Yes. Truly terrible.
“I see. So instead of using a qualified veterinary technician, my dad decided to ask a first year from BH’s community college, who likely hasn’t completed his introductory courses. That makes so much sense. Your logic is so very sound. Ten out of ten.”
Stiles skin itched. He was getting impatient.
He was getting angry.
Stiles turned his back on the small crowd, pushing into the Sheriff’s room without mind to the sputtering Scott. The doctor wasn’t there so he grabbed the chart from the end of the bed, scanning it quickly, adding it to what he already knew.
His dad had no physical wounds. He had been found unconscious in the parking lot of the police station. He wouldn’t wake up.
Something supernatural was going on here, and no amount of human medicine would help, period.
Stiles laid the chart back down and pulled out his cellphone, typing out a quick text, before giving his dad’s hand a lingering squeeze and exiting the room.
Everyone was watching him with sharp eyes, except Scott who was scowling at the ground. It seemed unimpressive and childish on his twenty year old face.
“Argent,” Stiles says, zoning in on Chris. He’s never liked Talia, never appreciated all she let her children get away with and the obviousness of her pack. Chris, however, he had extensively researched. He was a hunter coming into Stiles’ town, but unlike the werewolves he was discreet. Smart. “What are you hunting?”
Chris’ brow creases at his phrasing, but he didn’t acknowledge it as anything odd. “I don’t know much about who did this. He was found unconscious in the parking lot at the police station, and the doctors are still running tests to determine the cause of his condition.”
“Tests that won’t find anything,” Stiles says back, as calmly as he can when it feels like he’s about to shake out of his skin. “Most shifters would have left some kind of outward marking, and there’s no sense of magic around him so I doubt it was a Druid or Wiccan. I’m assuming you all know, so tell me. What. Was. It.”
“Stiles, you know—”
Talia interrupts Scott. Just as well, because Stiles feels like hitting something the longer they stall. “Just what do you know about all this, Stiles?”
“Your family has never been the most subtle, I figured out about the supernatural when I was nine. My dad, however, wasn’t wrapped up in any of this until I left for college — presumably, he only got involved in the past few months, since his deputy’s haven’t informed me that he suddenly started hanging around Argent, Deaton, or you Hale’s.”
Talia opened her mouth again, and Stiles held up a finger. “Stop. I don’t have time to deal with your insipid questions. Just tell me what we are dealing with. Now.”
There was a moment of stunned silence. Stiles slanted his eyes to the hunter.
“I’ve been hunting a rogue fae,” Argent said. “Several people in town have fallen comatose, including one of your father’s officers.”
“Fae. Of fucking course, it always has to be fae. What kind?”
Argent looked at him blankly.
“Come on. Was it seelie or unseelie? An elemental? Changeling? Elf?" Argent's forehead creased. "For chrissakes, did it even originate in this country, or do I have to brush up on my Welsh?”
A throat cleared behind him, and Stiles spun to face the enforcer. “Sweetheart, Christopher has no clue what you’re talking about. I doubt the Argent bestiary takes time to classify the fae beyond methods for killing them.”
“But you don’t even kill them all the same way! It’s—” Stiles groaned in frustration, running a hand over his face. “Forget it. Did anybody get a good look at it? Scott?”
Scott jolted, mouth snapping shut. “Uh, why do you think I—?”
“Because you’re here, so either you’ve seen it or you dragged my dad into this shitshow. Which one?” Scott shifted.
“Both,” Peter chimed in unhelpfully. Stiles considered wringing his neck, but he was the only one providing any actual information.
“Okay. Okay, we’ll deal with that later. Was it male or female?”
Scott didn’t say anything, glancing towards Talia again.
“Scott, answer my goddamn questions! This is my dad we’re talking about!”
Scott winced back at his decibel, jerking his eyes from Talia to the floor. He looked guilty, as well he should. “A-a girl.”
“Tall or short? What did her skin look like?”
“Uh, tall. Like, taller than you. She was grey, and her eyes—they were completely black.”
Stiles' magic spiked, sparking out of his fingers unhelpfully. Stiles clenched his hands shut and ignored it. “Were there any markings on her forehead?”
“Yeah, there were, like, purple swirls—”
Stiles cursed. Explicitly.
Talia looked scandalized.
“How long has it been since dad? When was he found?”
“Eleven hours ago. Parrish called you almost immediately.”
“At least one of the deputy’s are being a good boy,” Stiles murmured thoughtlessly, pacing now. “How long has she been waiting between victims?”
“There have been two a day for the last week.” Peter offered.
Stiles frowned, stilling. “That doesn’t make sense. She shouldn’t have such an appetite, unless…”
“Unless what?” Peter prodded.
“Unless she’s pregnant,” Stiles whispered. He sounded like he was about to faint, and looked little better. “Oh god, a pregnant Aatmanand. I’m surprised this town is still standing.”
He pulled out his phone, flipping through his contacts and trying to ignore the way his hand was trembling.
She picked up on the second ring.
“What is it, Stiles? I’m trying to study.”
“I need your help.”
The person on the other line’s breath hitched, before coming back, smooth as silk. “Are you calling in your favor, Spark?”
“Yes.”
“Can I come to you?”
Stiles glanced at the camera in the room and short circuited it with a spark of energy. Someone gasped.
“Yes.”
In a flash of light, Adelaide appeared. She was still in her human form except for her gleaming quicksilver eyes, blonde hair tumbling down her back in unruly waves, wearing a monochromatic polka dot pajama set. She took in her audience briefly before turning to Stiles, eyebrow cocking.
“What will you have me do?”
“I have an Aatmanad problem.”
Adelaide took a step towards him, nails sharpening to a point. Her smile was all pointed teeth. “You know I hate those uptight prigs. Just point me in the direction, little Spark.”
“You can’t kill her,” Stiles ground out, fingers clenching. Adelaide’s nostrils flared, eyes dilating with rage. Stiles held up a hand to stall her protests. “She’s pregnant.”
“Excuse me? I will not meddle with the Expecting, even for you!” Adelaide hissed.
“I’m not asking you to,” Stiles said impatiently. “I can track her down without you. I just need you to release the knots she weaved about one of the victim’s souls, and drain her leftover magic into a rune.”
Adelaide’s expression twisted again, this time in amusement. “You think much of my abilities. My kind has never been known for this capability.”
“Your kind has never been known for a lot of things,” Stiles returned. That earned him a laugh, quick and dark.
“Very good, Spark. If I do you this favor, my debt is repaid.”
“Agreed.”
“Wait a minute.” Stiles turned to Talia, eyes narrowed.
“We may not have a minute,” he said coolly. “They die at the twelve hour mark, don’t they? Otherwise Parrish wouldn’t have bothered to say his condition was life threatening. That’s how long it takes her to properly establish her hold and drain them.”
Talia frowned. “You may know something about the supernatural, but this is my land. You cannot summon creatures here without my permission.”
Stiles stared at her. Behind him, Adelaide laughed.
“What a stupid little wolf,” she smiled. “I can kill her for free, Spark. Alpha’s have the most exquisite aftertaste.”
Peter stood, taking his place behind Talia’s left shoulder. His face was cleared of the previous smirk, eyes hard and calculating.
“Go fulfill our deal. If I need to kill anybody, I’ll do it myself.”
“You’re no fun,” Adelaide sighed. “I need the rune first.”
Stiles gave her a look, but she just grinned back. Stiles rolled his eyes, grabbing the Sheriff’s badge from his pocket to obscure the transportation spell from curious eyes.
He held out his hand expectantly, and Adelaide grinned at him, snatching his wrist and gouging into his index finger with a claw. Somebody growled, low and threatening.
Stiles didn’t wince, just cleared his throat until she dropped his appendage with a pout.
He drew the anchor rune quickly, all too aware of the eyes in him, and gave her the badge.
“Remember what I told you when we met,” he warned, when she turned to the room. Adelaide stiffened, glancing over her shoulder at him, and nodded.
“I would not go against a Spark.”
Stiles turned back to the red eyed Talia. “I don’t fall under your laws,” he said, eyes half-lidded. “As your enforcer could tell you. And even if I did, that is my father. I would tear apart worlds to keep him safe.”
Talia frowned, glancing at her brother. “Peter?”
“He is a Spark, Talia. The Councils combined don’t have enough power to put a leash on his kind.”
“He can’t be,” Laura said, standing to meet her pack. “We would have noticed anything that powerful growing up here. He went to school with Cora, Mia and Scott.”
“‘He’ is right here,” Stiles said drolly. “And consequently doesn’t care what you think.”
the black cousins
regulus & sirius
brothers/cousins- they were extremely close as kids since they never really had any other friends to play with. but as sirius got sorted into gryffindor and made friends, and regulus getting sorted into slytherin the year after, they drifted apart. sirius not being able to separate regulus to their parents, and regulus being jealous of sirius' freedom and happiness.
regulus & narcissa
cousins- both being the youngest and deemed 'the golden child', narcissa protects and helps regulus handle issues and stay in good favour with everyone. narcissa being the only slytherin student he already knew well, she guided him in school to help him remain in good standing with the other slytherins but not getting involved in their harmful actions.
regulus & andromeda
cousins- regulus was always jealous of how much closer sirius was to her, how they kept secrets just between the two of them, how they'd sneak out together during parties and never invited him along. andromeda did try to influence regulus, getting him to understand the family's prejudice, but when she left, she cut all ties.
regulus & bellatrix
cousins- bellatrix tended to prefer talking to her sisters walburga when at grimmauld place, rather than sirius and regulus. so the two weren't really close. until bellatrix had joined the death eaters, and regulus was being urged to join as well. bellatrix was extremely keen for regulus to join. once sirius was disowned, she would stay during holidays, her behaviour and body language being so similar to sirius' was soothing at the time, and regulus listened to what she had to say.
sirius & narcissa
cousins- the two are complete opposites. where sirius is loud and defiant, narcissa is quiet and dutiful. narcissa sees sirius as a naive kid ruining their life, and sirius sees narcissa as a meek, vain, and self-absorbed. the two never got on, only connecting through alice fortescue.
sirius & andromeda
cousins- andromeda was like a guidance figure to sirius, teaching them how to escape, how to hide things, etc. she always tried to influence sirius in a good way, showing them their family's prejudice. the two being the only ones disowned, kept in contact. andromeda never fully believed sirius was a death eater.
sirius & bellatrix
cousins- so similar to each other, the exact same personality and impulses but ruled by complete opposite motivations. both being the eldest sibling, they take on a lot of their parents expectations and brute of their anger. but both of them hate themselves deeply, thinking they're too impulsive, angry, and a disappointment, that they can't help but despise the other for all the traits they share.
narcissa & andromeda
sisters- they were extremely close as children, as were bellatrix. but as they got older, andromeda grew more independent and outspoken and narcissa, seeing the aftermath of that rebellion, grew quieter and more compliant. after andromeda left, she cut all ties to her. but after the war, she extended a hand to narcissa and the two became close again.
narcissa & bellatrix
sisters- both felt like they had to protect the other, especially more after andromeda left. narcissa married lucius and gave up her quidditch dreams in order to stay with bellatrix, and bellatrix got narcissa out of having to take the dark mark and become a death eater. looked after each other their entire lives, to the point they made themselves miserable and crazy in attempts to be there and protect one another.
andromeda & bellatrix
sisters- although close as children, the two fought often, over toys, books, and the piano in the lounge. and as they grew older, the fighting got louder and more intense to the point the two, although loving each other, never confided anything in each other, instead telling everything to narcissa who never said a word. when andromeda left, bellatrix was the one who burned her off the tapestry.
#starting all over again
—you found that all you ever wanted was to have someone by your side, and even if you did not expect or liked it at first, kamisato ayato was that one for you
CHARACTERS. Ayato; gn! noble! Reader
THEMES. arranged marriage; subtle enemies to friends to lovers? (you’ll see); timeframe is before & during the sakoku decree
WORD COUNT. 3.3kwords (this is long)
WARNINGS. may have themes surrounding toxic families, and loneliness at the start; mention of wounds but not really graphic
Tumblr media
“You will be engaged to the Yashiro Commissioner, Y/n.”
“But Father, did he not reject me a few years back?”
“Well… this time, he was the one who proposed it himself.”
“Excuse me?”
Tumblr media
“His name is Kamisato Ayato, he will be your husband when you grow up.”
It was like hide and seek. A secret you were meant to find as the other was kept hidden from your view. Or a surprise birthday celebration that you had never gotten to experience and only heard of from the stories you’ve read in novels that kept you company in exchange for people.
You never even saw his face and yet your parents told you that he was to be someone whom you will grow together with. At that moment, you thought that it was a good thing. You will be with someone. Great! At least you would not be alone anymore. At least, in the cold four corners of your room, a part of your heart was kept warm with the thought of someone who was promised to keep you company when the right time comes.
Until
“What? The Kamisatos’ did not accept it?”
“They said they value their child’s decision… what kind of family are they to reject us!”
“What should we say to Y/n now?”
“What do you mean? That is not what’s important right now! The Kamisatos’ dared to destroy our reputation!”
You remember how you stood behind the wall back then, clutching onto your pillow, about to ask your parents if you could sleep with them. You remembered having to realize a couple of things: Kamisato Ayato dislikes you and this marriage; that you were going to be alone once more; and that your family never cared about your feelings after all.
Status makes everyone mad. Status is what makes everyone think of foolish things, and you realized such a thing at a young age.
Tumblr media
As you grew up, however, you came to a point that you didn’t care about it, but the name Kamisato Ayato still left a bad taste in your mouth—like the bitterness of a bitter gourd or the foul smell of smoke that came from when you were burning letters by the other clan members.
Despite this, however, you still have not seen his face. After all, as the youngest child of the Kujou, you mostly stayed inside the house. From what you knew, you were almost regarded as the “Hidden Jewel of Kujou”. With your sister and brothers being known to the public, while you stay on the sidelines, there began a rumor that the Kujou is quite overprotective of their youngest member of the family, even so far as speculating that you may just very well be the Head of the family in the future.
“Sister, can I go outside with you too?” you looked at Sara hopefully. Despite being a year apart and not being blood-related, she was the one who you trusted the most in your family. The only one, actually. But like others, there was no one who could help you.
There was no one who would help you.
A look of guilt flashes on her face once again—like many other times, and even without hearing her answer, you already knew what it was.
“Forgive me, Y/n. I don’t think Father would like that very much.”
Bidding each other goodbye, you stood by the door with your feet locked on the ground, following Sara’s form with your gaze as she exited the Tenryou Commission’s premises.
Anything, you wished, anything to make you get out of there, please let it happen. Even if it costed you your status.
Tumblr media
Your wish came true quite fast, actually.
“Is this… a Vision?”
Your brows furrowed as you scanned your surroundings. It was late at night, and you were merely strolling around, as it was the best time to do so when the officers are not on guard on some premises.
And just then, you felt a presence behind you.
“Who’s there?” You turned, and there you saw a man clad in light clothing, hair in a rare shade of blue—or were they silver?—and a smile that you certainly have seen from anyone who knows the business. He looked surprised at first though, but almost as soon as the flash of lightning, he morphs it into a smile.
“Are you here for my father?” you questioned, still holding onto the Hydro Vision in your hand. “And is this yours? I just found this on the ground.”
“Are you perhaps Kujou Y/n? I have never seen you before, I am quite sure I’ll remember the face of someone like yours.”
You purse your lips together when you hear the man’s voice. He, you realized, had a kinder voice than anyone else who came to visit your father. But it was the fact that instead of answering your question, he asked you one instead that kept your guard up.
However, based on his attire, he did not look like a thief or anything like that. So maybe this person… is someone of the same status as you as well?
Looking away, you held out the Vision, “Here, it must have fallen off of you. It is now late, my lord, you should go and see Father if that is your intention here.”
He takes the Vision from you, but before he brings his hand away, you feel him turn your hand around—the vision still in between both of your palms—and you were just in time when you faced him to see him press a kiss on the back of your hand.
In an instant, you pulled your hand away, feeling your face heat up.
“E-excuse me?!” you exclaimed, but when you realized you did, you cleared your throat and changed your tone immediately, “Why did you do that… my lord?”
He did not answer your question (again), however, as he merely kept that sweet and gentle smile on his face before saying alluringly “May we see each other again, Kujou Y/n,” and turned around to walk away, even gracefully climbing on the walls and jumping down on the other side.
That was then that you realized that he probably wasn’t a guest.
But he is not dressed as a thief either.
Or do thieves dress that way nowadays?
Despite this, there was one last thought in your head that made your cheeks warm up unconsciously: you didn’t even get his name.
If anyone else hears this, all of Inazuma would look at the Kujou’s differently.
And actually, you did not care anymore.
Tumblr media
The second time you saw him, he was heavily spent and injured.
It was a good thing you were alone once again and you hurriedly had to go and get something to treat his wounds with. Fortunately, you found some without being awfully suspicious of anyone inside the house.
“My lord, why must you come here once again?” you questioned him as you dipped the anti-infection on his wounds—they were not so big or life-threatening, but for a noble like him, this is something that could cause whispers all around town. After all, reputation is something that must be highly regarded around here. And reputation will always be connected to one’s status.
“I had an appointment.”
“An appointment? From my father?”
“No,” he kept his eyes to yours, “to you.”
“To me?” You blinked, “I did not know such an appointment was made, my lord.”
He chuckles, voice as gentle as the flow of water and firm as a tree, “Is it that hard to tell that I am here to see you just because I wanted to?”
Once again, he renders you speechless, biting your lip as your brows furrowed and feeling your throat dry up while you try to keep yourself busy with bandaging his wound.
“That…” you stutter—you’ve never really been in this kind of situation, have you? How do people normally respond to that kind of statement? Those weren’t tackled in your lessons at all!
Despite your lack of words, he was still able to formulate his own, even having that same charming smile on his face, “I apologize for catching you off-guard,” he says, “But I was merely telling the truth.”
You cleared your throat, but it was no use still. Despite this, you continued to treat his minor wounds. How did he get them? You wanted to ask, but as someone who also treated your brothers and sister from their own injuries, you knew better not to.
It was not your business, after all.
“Forgive me for letting you see me like this, this was not my intention…”
You smiled, “It’s alright. Even if you’re a stranger, I know I could trust you.”
“Why did you?” you accidentally looked into his eyes and you just stopped. Stopped your busy hands, stopped breathing, and stopped having a stable and normal heartbeat. “Why did you trust me?”
You then awkwardly chuckled, aware of how you had gotten mesmerized by his eyes, especially up close—had they always looked like this? Orbs that reminds you of sakura petals, just a tinge paler and more purple than a sakura petal’s real shade. Upon realizing these thoughts, you hesitatingly dropped your gaze to finish up the bandages to get done with it, “Because you have a Vision.”
“Does having a Vision tell someone else’s goodness to you?”
“Not really,” you say, pausing for a moment as you tie the bandage and pull away from him, “But the gods do.”
When you walked away that night, you thought of her.
As a Kujou, you believed in the gods. Especially the Raiden Shogun. For a descendant of this family, she is the savior of Inazuma, the hope of the nation, the sun that always and will always shine above everyone and bring light to them all.
As Y/n, however, you couldn’t help but wonder why this sun had never shown itself to anyone else except for special occasions.
Of course, it is true that she is a ruler, a person who is occupied with the things that she should take care of for the nation. It was understandable. But you wondered how alike you two were, and if this was really the fate of someone who was regarded by those around them. Was it unfair? You couldn’t tell. Were you both the same? You could only doubt.
You wanted to see people, wanted to see their smiles and help them directly as much as you could.
If that was what your Archon was feeling as well, then maybe you both were the same. But if not, you could only pray.
Tumblr media
“Today is the day.”
The house was buzzing with murmurs and footsteps running around, bustling maids trying to do last-minute cleaning. Even your sister Sara was too busy to greet you good morning like usual.
“Why? What’s so special today?” One of the maids inquires to another, piquing your interest and catching your attention.
“Haven’t you heard? Today is the start of the Sakoku Decree. And the Master will be meeting with the other Commissioners to discuss something important.”
The Sakoku Decree.
You felt a pressure on your chest and the electric current that traveled through the tips of your fingers, hands stiffening at the mere mention of it.
You’ve heard this term in one of the discussions at dinner last time. It was a Decree to close the borders of Inazuma to anyone going in or out, and it will also confiscate Visions from Vision holders. The criteria? You’ll never know. Actually, no one does.
And as usual, those of status are probably safe from it.
Your face paled as you remembered the Hydro Vision you held a few weeks back, thinking upon that young man who was nothing more than just a stranger to you, but at the very least, he was the very first person who treated you like a normal human being.
For some reason, you worried more for him than your sister who also held a Vision.
Maybe status will save them? But at the same time, you did not know Raiden Shogun.
And you knew your father very well.
The lessons that have been taught to you throughout your life consist of singing, dancing, writing, reading, and of course, the most important of all, the art of pretending. Basically, you were taught how to act. If you could only go out, you would have wanted to try acting someday.
Those acting skills are useful in front of others—it teaches you how to pretend to be calm despite being displeased or any other emotions that are not needed in the situation.
Like in this one.
Light outfit with dark blue lines, pale blue hair that shone under the night sky last time you saw it, but this time, it proved to still stand out under the light of the sun, even the crowd.
And that Hydro Vision hung on the right side of his belt.
Ah, your heart skipped a beat, you should’ve known.
You should’ve known he was Kamisato Ayato—the Kamisato Ayato who is the youngest head of a family in Inazuma, the Kamisato Ayato who is the Yashiro Commissioner and the Kamisato Ayato who rejected the marriage proposal of your family years and years ago when you were still a child.
You smiled nonetheless, bowing properly in front of the Commissioners, including him.
“A pleasant morning, dear esteemed guests, welcome to the headquarters of the Tenryou Commission.” Your eyes met his, and you were so damn glad you took your acting lessons properly, “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kujou Y/n, youngest child of Kujou Takayuki. We hope we can serve you well in your visit today.”
“Oho~ Is this the so-called Jewel of Kujou? I did not expect a jewel to greet us here.” Hiiragi Shinsuke laughs, you let out a polite chuckle.
“You flatter me, Kanjou Commissioner. This “jewel” is but a mere human like any other under the rule of the great Raiden Shogun.”
The old man laughs again—he probably is either humoring you, mocking you, or is just amused.
You couldn’t care less.
“Takayuki raised his children well I see,” he then turns to the younger man beside him, “Don’t you think so, Yashiro Commissioner? Say, have you two met before? I heard you rejected the Kujou Clan’s marriage proposal years before! What do you feel now that you’ve seen the jewel right in front of you?”
This old man… is he rubbing it in your face?
Your smile was growing more forced and exhausting, but you held it in as you narrowed your eyes towards Ayato, who had that same innocent look on his face this whole time.
Before you could brace yourself, he said the word “Regretful” and your smile shattered into a million pieces.
Just in time, Sara came and you excused yourself before you could even cast another glance at him, leaving the confused Kanjou Commissioner and your sister who was then forced to escort the two to your father.
You’d probably have to thank her later for that.
“Are you here to play pretend in front of me again, Yashiro Commissioner?”
You turn to face the young man, still standing out in the middle of the grounds of your home, his light clothing and hair a huge contrast to the dark hues of the Tenryou Commission’s architecture. You’ve never noticed it before, as he had always visited during the night, but now that he did come when the sun was out, it was something that did not go unnoticed to you.
“I don’t think I’ve ever played pretend with you,” he pauses, “to be quite frank, you probably are one of few people I could talk truthfully with.”
You narrowed your eyes at him but before you could form a retaliation, your gaze drops to his Vision, dangling under the sunlight.
You look away. “The people of Inazuma must now face the tight rule of their god in the coming months. Everyone must stay vigilant, especially the Vision holders.”
You were not looking, but you knew he smiled at that.
“I suppose the youngest lord of the house is worried about my Vision? Please rest assured, I shall keep your words in my mind.”
You inwardly smirked, brow raising as you faced him, “Take that as you may, Yashiro Commissioner, but I don’t suppose there is only one Vision holder in Inazuma, do you?”
Tumblr media
“You will be engaged to the Yashiro Commissioner, Y/n.”
“But Father, did he not reject me a few years back?”
“Well… this time, he was the one who proposed it himself.”
“Excuse me?” you lost composure, “I mean… I beg your pardon? Did you just say…”
“For some reason, it was him who proposed getting married this time. I don’t know his motives, but I don’t think joining two Commissions will prove negative to the Shogun’s plans. After all, it would only show the strengthening of the bond of the Tricommissions!“
As your father rambled on and on about his joy, you felt your resolve crumble down into pieces. Was this really happening?
And for once, you questioned yourself whether this is really something you wanted or did not. Your heart pounded, but was it of worry or something else?
You realized that this was something you could only answer if you accepted this engagement.
No matter how much you wanted to reject him the same way he did before, you just couldn’t find yourself doing so.
Tumblr media
It was night again, and you had become accustomed with stepping out of your room as quietly as possible, slipping away from anyone still awake at that time, and locating yourself in the same place you first saw the Hydro Vision, and when you treated a ‘stranger’ without even asking why he was in that state.
You found yourself thinking of Kamisato Ayato, and ultimately, your engagement with him.
This was one thing you had wished for when you were a child—to be cared for, to be someone who was important, to be free from the high, dark walls of the Kujou household.
“I had always wanted this, but why does it feel so unreal?” You mutter to yourself—but not really, “Do you have any answer for this, my lord?”
There he was, standing far from where you were only to show himself away from the shadows into the brief source of light that illuminated his face.
Under the darkness of the night, your heart was calm, your shoulders were at ease, and your thoughts were very clear, even when he’s present—which was different when you both were under the glare of the sunlight and the blue skies.
“All I can say is, this is something I hope you can find in the coming days to come, Y/n.”
He holds out for your hand. Your eyes narrowed at his extended hand and briefly sighed, reciprocating it back when you extended your own. Unexpectedly but unsurprisingly, he kneels in front of you and places a peck on the back of your palm. The hold he has on your hand is so soft, almost like he was treating it like a
“If you would give me a chance, shall we start all over again?”
A smile plastered its way to your lips with a soft scoff.
“You know, I thought I’d hate that name for all my life.”
“What?”
“Nevermind,” you cut him off before he can ask further, clearing your throat. “Very well then, let’s start all over again, Kamisato Ayato.”
Tumblr media
Your lungs ached as if they were burning from the inside, which was ironic because the only thing leaving them was water. Being able to breathe freely was liberating. The worst part of drowning wasn't "dying", but the pain of breathing water.
"H-Hm... do you want me to call someone?" The blond boy tried to help you, patting you lightly on the back. Nothing came of it, but the intention had been good.
"N-No..."
You decided to stay lying down, the pain in your body oscillating between mild and sharp stabs. The horrible sensation of wet clothes sticking to your body and a gigantic tiredness made you close your eyes once more, only to open them again with a strong jolt.
"D-Don't die, please!" The boy looked a little desperate, thinking that your final moments were happening right in front of him.
"I won't die... I think."
With his help, you carefully sat up. The boy seemed very kind and had probably been the one to save you, which was strange as you remembered sinking into an abyss. In any case, it would have been impolite not to thank him.
"Did you help me? Thank you."
"It was...no big deal, the lake is shallow." he pointed to the body of water next to you. It was so shallow that the deepest part would probably reach an adult's shoulders.
'How did I drown in such a stupid thing?'
Your perplexed gaze stared into the lake. Your jaw dropped at the revelation that you had sunk into a lake less than two meters deep. Was it all just an illusion and you had just fainted because of the water? Well, something certainly wasn't right about that.
"Well, I should introduce myself..." You gave him a nice smile and extended a hand towards him so that he could shake your hand. "I'm [Name]."
He shook your hand carefully, as if you were made of glass. He really didn't want to end up hurting you somehow.
"My name is Freminet..."
For the first time, his lips curved upwards into a calm smile. You finally knew his name.
"Why did you run when I saw you inside?"
"I was embarrassed, I thought you'd come to talk to me and I wouldn't know how to answer... you know... I'm sorry." His smile closed, replaced by an embarrassed face and a lot of fidgeting with his fingers. Freminet was clearly embarrassed, but he didn't want to admit it like that.
"No, no, no, no," shaking your hands and head rapidly in denial, you contradicted him. "I'm the one who should apologize, I made you sad... and now you're all wet and might get sick."
You had to find a way to take the blame off him. It wasn't nice to see someone shy like him blaming himself for things that weren't in his control, especially someone as young as him. It brought back memories of dark times when you were afraid to show up for the crowds during festivals.
"You should smile more and act like you really like it. Do you think people would love a 'Child of Prophecy' who can't even grace them with their presence?" Your former nanny pointed a finger at your face, a slightly annoyed expression on her face.
"I-I'm sorry-"
"If you were really sorry, you'd do better at your job."
You really liked that nanny, she ended up dying trying to protect you from the charges when they took you to court. So why were you questioning her attitudes now? Maybe it was the ungrateful part of you speaking a little louder.
"All right... oh, wait..." His eyes slightly widened. Freminet quickly reached into his pockets and started pulling out various mechanical parts.
"What are these? And how can so much fit into such a small pocket?"
The parts were soaked, they would most likely have to be discarded as they would rust due to the state they were in. They consisted of a few screws, chains and even a thin copper wire.
"They're my mending equipment. Mom always brings nice things when she gets home from work, but they're always broken..."
"So you fix them." You looked at him with a proud look, hoping you'd got it right.
"Yes... but I never know where they'll end up."
A calm wind blew over you. Even though it was warm, it made you both shiver because of being soaked from head to toe.
An awkward silence hung in the air after Freminet's reply, neither of you had anything to talk about at the moment. His hands carried those little pieces, which he stared at. Taking advantage of the silence, you stopped to think about everything that had just happened.
'I need to find something, but what? I couldn't hear anything in the end. Besides, what was that place? It was the center of Fontaine, but a little different from how I remember it, even if I didn't leave the temple much... Nine years have passed since I died, so I'm sure what I saw was in the present.'
Something even more disturbing was troubling you. When you were near the fountain, your reflection was no longer your own. What did that mean? You had never seen that child before in your entire life.
'That wasn't me. What kind of connection do I have with that person? Why did that place show me like her? How did she manipulate Hydro without a vision? Why-'
You were interrupted by a hand on your shoulder. Freminet was pulling another of his trinkets out of his pocket.
"You're sad, aren't you?"
"A little..." your hands hugged your knees, helping you feel a little warmer. "But what's that?"
You pointed to the object in his hands, which he placed closer to you. It was like a little machine in the shape of a dog. It was cute, but it was a bit wet and would probably need to be in the sun for a while before it would turn on.
"It's... something I fixed recently. I didn't give it a name."
He put the little machine down, pressing a button to test it. The puppy took three steps before falling to the side and turning off.
"It's broken." You looked pityingly at the object's failure, wondering if Freminet would be hurt by it.
However, Freminet just picked it up and gave it a few light slaps before turning it on again. This time, the puppy was able to walk forward by moving its mechanical paws.
"Can we..." He turned red with embarrassment and turned his head away. "Can we be... friends?"
"Oh."
You blinked twice when you heard his question. No one had ever asked you that before, absolutely never. Was that how people formed friendships? Wasn't it too direct? But for some reason, you couldn't help but smile.
"Of course!" You grabbed one of his hands and looked at him with starry eyes "Now I'm your new friend, [Name], and you're my first friend!"
Maybe it wouldn't hurt to be friends with someone your own age. It wasn't as if Freminet had the power to condemn you to death or anything. A friendship was something you'd never had before, so you were excited to form one with Freminet.
"So as a gift of friendship, I'll give you this." He placed the puppy in the palm of your hand.
"For me, really?! Thank you!" You hugged him tightly, basically throwing yourself on top of the poor thing, who was unresponsive and then very embarrassed.
"You're welcome... it's a... gift from a friend."
You smiled at each other. Was it so strange to make friends with a child you'd only met a few minutes ago? Well, they say children are quick with that sort of thing.
It didn't last long, because when you realized what you'd done, you quickly separated in a way that didn't look like you were running away from him. Mentally, you couldn't help wishing that you would grow up soon. These habits that your mind had created, because it was that of a child, ended up putting you in many situations that were normal for children, yet shameful.
'Damn childish impulses.'
"You could give him a name."
A name... a few ideas crossed your mind. One in particular was very tempting, maybe it would work.
"Then I'll name it Furina."
"Fu...rina?" He looked at you with a confused face. This was not a name commonly used, nor even allowed in the nation of Fontaine, as it was disrespectful to the name of the Archon. "Isn't that... isn't that forbidden? They say we can't name animals like that."
"Yes, but you won't tell anyone. Right, Freminet?"
He looked like a sad puppy begging for more snacks. It was the first law you'd broken in your life, apart from the ideological falsehood that decorated your criminal record in the past, since you were supposedly "impersonating the child of the prophecy".
"I'm not going." Freminet scratched the back of his head. He didn't look like a child who liked lying to others or hiding secrets. "But why did you choose that name?"
'Damn, I forgot to think of an excuse-'
"Well, it's because I really admire Lady Furina. I want to honor her in this way!" Your hands fiddled with the little mechanisms of the robotic animal.
"But are you sure you want to leave it to me? I'm not very good at looking after pets."
Your eyes met his. You needed to make sure it was really yours before you did whatever you wanted with it.
"Mhm... Mom always brings new trinkets, so I can always make more. She comes to pick up food from time to time, but this time she didn't want to leave me home alone."
He really seemed to know what he was doing, maybe one day you could ask him to fix your closet door that has come apart. Since Clorinde wasn't very good at this sort of thing, a loose screw turned into a dismantled door.
"Isn't it strange to walk around with that?" It just slipped out of your mouth without thinking, and then the consequences came.
'Oops...'
He seemed to be a little hurt by what you said. His eyes glistened a little with unshed tears. He was a bit offended by the statement but didn't want to speak.
"T-That's not what I meant." You waved your arms in front of him, trying to clear up the misunderstanding. "I've never seen anything like that before..."
Your bad habit of saying things without thinking every now and then was something you urgently needed to fix.
"Will you pardon me? I'm really sorry..."
He shook his head and wiped his eyes with his hands. His clothes were almost dry, which was good, as it would prevent him from catching a cold.
You looked out at the lake again. But this time a wave of nausea hit you as soon as your eyes came into contact with it. Your head turned quickly in another direction, as if you were running away from it.
'Hm... I don't think I'm going to want to go near it any time soon.'
"Are you coming back to visit me more often, Freminet?" You fiddled with the present once more, caressing the robotic pet's head.
"I don't know, this is the first time I've come..."
His face paled completely. His eyes widened and he stood up instantly.
"I-I split up with Mom. She must be worried."
He looked at you with those glassy eyes, as if asking for help. This was the time to repay him for what he had done for you.
"Don't worry, I know the way back to where she is. Come with me!" You held out a hand to him, which he held while you guided him. His mother must probably be desperately looking for her missing son.
"I shouldn't have gone away from her... I'm seven years old now, but I still give mom a hard time like this."
Freminet was almost in tears. With his head down and his voice weak, he felt very guilty for worrying his mother.
"Oh, you're the same age as me then. I turned seven a while ago."
"Hm? You're only seven? Then why do you talk like an adult?"
You froze, was it really that obvious? Sister Dora and Clorinde never commented on it, although Clorinde was a mature child in her own right.
"I-I don't talk like an adult! I'm quite a child, you know!" You stuck your tongue out at him in the hope of disguising your behavior.
You walked for a while until you finally reached Freminet's mother, a pretty woman with blonde hair like his, who was in a corner being consoled by other women. She seemed very shaken by his disappearance, using a tissue to wipe away her tears.
"I should have paid more attention to him. I-"
Her eyes finally stopped on the two of you. The woman got up and ran over to Freminet, hugging him tightly as if she didn't want to lose him again.
"Freminet! You scared your poor mother. Where were you? Are you hurt?!"
She put a hand on his cheek, her face a faint smile of relief.
'Hm...' You stood in the corner, watching the scene unfold before you. Could this be how Sister Dora felt when you disappeared into the temple?
"Sorry... I got distracted and wandered off, but I made a friend." He looked at you, causing his mother to turn her head in your direction too. She was a little embarrassed to be seen like this by one of her son's friends.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." She smiled gently at you and wiped her tearstained face with her handkerchief, trying to look more presentable. "It's nice to meet you, hm...?"
"[Name], just [Name]."
"[Name]... It suits you. Thank you for being Freminet's friend..."
She got up and took the monthly food offered by the temple. She seemed to be getting ready to leave, after everything that had happened. Freminet's mother whispered something in his ear, which seemed to put him off a little.
"We'll have to leave now, say goodbye to your friend."
She patted his head, pushing him slightly forward. Freminet didn't seem happy about having to leave.
"Goodbye, [Name]. Don't forget me... please."
"I won't, don't worry."
You hugged him one last time before he left. The scene was seen by the women who were with his mother earlier and by some of the temple volunteers, and would surely have reached the ears of Clorinde or Sister Dora. And so you waved goodbye to him, while watching through the window their silhouettes moving away as the sun set.
Passing through the corridors, you decided to go back to your room to finally rest after everything that had happened. Freminet's gift in your hands reflected the sunlight that hit it.
For some reason, as you walked, you felt the urge to cough. The only thing that came out of your incessant coughing was... water. And that's how you realized:
You couldn't breathe anymore.
Along with this, a strong dizziness caused you to lean on a nearby pillar. And with the agonizing pain in your lungs returning, you fell to the ground.
Your eyes frantically searched for anyone around, finding no one. Despair seized your veins as oxygen failed to reach you.
At the end of the corridor, a figure hidden by shadow gave you the shivers. As if you were facing the somber face of death itself again.
'How many times will I have to die in the same day, damn you!-'
You were cut short out of your thoughts by that voice again. The same voice you heard when that monochromatic Fontaine collapsed.
Karlach X Fem! Reader WC: 1.6k+ A/N: I couldn't think of a good name for this, but really wanted to write in a modern setting.
As I was walking out of the building I was just in, my phone buzzed, revealing that my mother wants me to pick up dinner on the way home as she was stuck in the office. I let out a sigh as I swiftly turned on my feet, heading into the direction of the grocery store. Being a college student on a budget myself and having to get dinner tonight was irritating, but it was something I wasn't used to. My mother took on extra shifts or stayed longer because we needed the income as my father hadn't paid his child support, but it's not like it's needed anymore as I am over the age to where I can make my own money in an attempt to support myself and my mother.
Taking a turn down a busy road, I watched as the traffic was at a stand still. Some people were honking their horns, as if that did anything to move the traffic faster. But if it made them think that, might as well let them. Heading towards me were some people on motorcycles. Some were wearing helmets while others weren't. The one that caught my eye was the one who had bright red skin, long black and red hair that went sat on their right shoulder. A black crop top was worn underneath a leather jacket that had some spikes coming from the shoulders. Black pants were hugging their muscular thighs nicely as they sat up, talking to the other bikers. One thing I noticed was the broken horn and intact horn on their head and the tail that whisked back and forth.
I've seen stranger here in Faerun, especially on the Sword Coast here. I once saw a small bugbear going to town on an ogre almost twice his size. Normal Tuesday morning walk on my way to classes I guess. But a Tiefling with a Githyanki alongside what appears to be a human, elf, half-elf, and is that a vampire? In the sun? Guess he found a way to conquer it. I just hope he doesn't burn up in it. Seems like they were friends and I wouldn't want them to lose out on their companion. What the hells am I saying? Why do I care about them? They're nothing but strangers just passing by. Maybe I care because I don't have what they have. Well, at least not in the moment. I did have what they had before attending college. But all my friends decided to back stab me and go against me, even though I did nothing wrong. First it was my father leaving my mother and now it was my friends leaving me. Everyone leaves me, except for my mother.
It was us against the world when my father left at the age of ten. Then six years go by and my friends leave, making me the loneliest person in my school while they galivanted off into the sunset hand in hand, skipping in a field of roses. If only I was there to trip all of them. I would have loved to have done that whenever I was still in school with them, but they'd all avoid me. None of them even looked my way. It hurt like hell, but I didn't need them. I didn't need anyone.
"Hey," one of them called in my direction, whistling to get my attention.
I picked my head up and found the tiefling was looking at me. A smirk was on her face as she winked at me, wolf whistling.
"Karlach," the half-elf said. "We're in public."
"I can't admire a young lady?" she smiled.
"Why don't you go admire someone else?" I snapped, bearing what little fangs I had, no thanks to my human father.
"Come on now," the tiefling chuckled. "I am not trying to catcall or anything. You just look nice."
"Thanks," I mumbled as I walked faster, getting away from them.
"Nice going, Karlach," I heard one of them say.
"I am trying my best," Karlach said as all of them drove off to who knows where.
Heading inside the grocery store, I just picked up a few ready to make meals as that was the only thing that I could afford in this moment in time and what I was feeling. My mother wasn't going to get back until possibly eight or nine o'clock. So I was on my own for tonight and it would be better for her to have one of these instead of worrying about leftovers. About to head out, I found the same tiefling walking inside the store. I let out a sigh as I walked towards the front, just wanting to get out of here quickly.
Paying for the food items, I walked out of the store and into the parking lot, past the bike she had rode on. Stopping, I couldn't help but admire it. Walking towards it, the nice black metal was shining to where it was almost sparkling in the afternoon sun. The leather looked like it was taken care of on the daily and she did not miss a day of cleaning it.
"Hey," a voice came.
Picking my head up, it was an older druid who walked towards me.
"That your bike?" he asked.
"N-No, I-I was just admiring it," I stepped away from it.
"Looks like you were about to take it," he sneered.
"I-I swear I was just admiring it. N-Nothing else."
"I know the owner of that bike. He won't like it knowing you had your eyes on it."
That I knew was a lie.
"Excuse me? He?"
"Yes. He doesn't like it when others gawk at his bike like that. So why don't you scurry off before I tell him about you."
"Aye, what's going on here?" I heard the tiefling's voice come up behind me.
"This your bike?" the druid asked.
"It is," she said, pulling out her keys.
"M-My mistake," the druid said to me and walked off.
The tiefling looked over her shoulder, her eyes following the druid as he walked into the store before she turned towards me.
"You're the one from earlier," she said.
"Y-Yeah."
"Look I didn't mean any harm when I was looking at you."
"And you decided to follow me here to tell me?"
"Actually, I was on my way here after I was done hanging out with the others."
"Sure," I said, skeptical.
"I am telling the truth, but it's up to you on whether or not you want to believe me," she walked towards the back of the bike, opening up a small compartment.
She placed a small bag inside before closing it up, locking it.
"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed."
"It's alright," she smiled at me. "Karlach," she held her hand out.
"Y/N."
"Oh you're Mrs. L/N's daughter, aren't you?"
"Y-You know her?"
"How could I not? Most well known tiefling in all of the Sword Coast. Most revered doctor. She treated me about two years ago when I had an accident on my first bike."
"Accident?"
"Yeah," she said, nodding her head. "It was a terrible accident. I was just driving when all of a sudden some idiot on another bike went into the opposing side of traffic. A car veered off, just barely hitting them, but I collided with the car. Totaled my first bike and now."
She removed her leather jacket and turned around, a long scar running down her back to the top of her tail. Putting her jacket back on, she let out a sigh.
"Got that along with losing part of my horn."
"I-I'm sorry about that."
"Nah, no worries. The ambulance took me to the hospital your mom works at and she fixed me up with no issues. She sat and listened to my side of the story as she told me that if she ever needed a witness for my trial, she'd be there in a heartbeat."
"So what ended up happening to the guy who got away?"
"Sued by both me and the driver of the car. Had to pay practically all the expenses."
"Got what he deserved."
"Sure in Hells he did. But anyway, mind if I take you back home? I-If you're comfortable that is."
"Sure. Why not. Beats lugging around my bag," I sighed.
Karlach swung her leg over the bike and got on. She moved forward a bit to make room for me. I wrapped my arms around her waist and she turned on her bike. Revving the engine a bit, she grabbed her sunglasses and placed them on.
"Hang on," she said and drove the bike out of the parking lot and onto the road.
I clung onto her tightly because of my own fear of motorcycles and motorized bikes. It wasn't like she was going fast or anything, since I lived very close, but it was how she was weaving in and out of rush hour traffic. Some cars were honking at her, giving her the finger, and even yelling at her. What did she do? Yell back, flipped them off, and even laughed. Her carefree attitude was something to get used to, but hopefully I wouldn't see her as often. Reaching my apartment building, she parked her motorcycle and cut the engine before putting the kickstand down.
"There you are. Safe and sound."
"Thank you, Karlach," I said and got off of the bike. "I hope you have a good rest of your day."
"You too. Oh!"
I turned and faced her as she reached into her pocket, pulling out a small sticky note. Scribbling something down, she handed it to me.
"If you ever want to go for a ride sometime in the near or far future," Karlach smiled. "I'll be down."
"T-Thank you, Karlach."
"See ya around," she said, staring the motorcycle and driving off.
Looking at the sticky note, her name, number and address was there. Along with a little doodle of herself. I chuckled, heading inside my apartment.
All you remember is the chaos happening  in Elturel. The terrible event that every Tiefling remembers painfully, The Fall of Elturel. The exile of the  Elturel tieflings population, your mother sadly was caught up in the chaos. All you remember was holding her hand tightly, guiding other tieflings leaving Elturel meanwhile your father stayed behind to make sure no one was left behind and suddenly she was gone.  You don’t understand why the tieflings were being blamed, this was all unfair to you and everyone around you. After escaping, the first night was dreadful. Making a small camp in the middle of nowhere, exposed to danger. Everyone was scared, not able to have a wink of sleep. Walking to one of the campfires, you sat down looking at the fire dance. Rolan, who's been watching you from a distance, wonders how you are feeling, you just witnessed your mother's death. Zevlor was too busy with looking after the group, making sure you stay alive and dealing with the death of his wife all in one. Rolan slowly walks over as Cal and Lia usher him to check on you. You two were good friends, well Cal and Lia know more as Rolan confides in Cal meanwhile you confide in Lia. Being siblings, they share information with each other.
    Feeling a hand on your shoulder, you look up seeing a worried Rolan. “How are you holding…” He asked slowly, sitting next to you, but kept his distance, not knowing what to do. You sigh and watch the fire burning the food slowly, “I don’t know…I…you can say I’m in shock…I…refuse to believe she’s gone…” You whispered. “ I want to wake up and see that all this is a nightmare that I will wake up to.” You shake your head. Rolan frowns a bit, noticing how your brows crease from how overwhelmed you are. “I hate to be that kind of person but…it happened…we all lost everything…our home…trust of others…our…family and peers that didn’t make it…” He slowly rubs your back gaining the confidence to comfort you. “Don’t remind me.” You whisper getting up wanting to be alone. Rolan only watches as you walk away and into the arms of your father as he finally has time to settle down and grieve with you.
That was months ago, you found a temporary place in the Grove with some kind druids but once again it all came crashing down. Since Halsin has been missing, Kagha decided to let your father know they have to leave before the rite of thorns is completed. “This is unfair!” You retort to your father inside the cave once the door was shut behind from prying ears. “Halsin said we were welcomed, don’t you find it odd that he was captured? An Archdruid?” You sigh, sitting on the wooden stool. Zevlor only looks at you, “ I know…but for the safety of our people…we have to move out and push to Baldur’s Gate. I know this brings memories…of your mother.” He began to hold your hand. “But we need to stay strong and bring them to safety…they look up to us to protect them.” He kisses your forehead. “You…they look up to you.” Looking away, you push your hair away from your face, careful of your horns. “I’m sorry…I’m just stressing you out more.” You felt bad, here you are complaining to him when you know he has all these responsibilities. “I’ll let you be and hey dad” Standing up, you walk over to the stone door, “You can always lean on me, don’t overwhelm yourself. “ You smile walking out.
“There you are” Lia walks over as you walk out. “I was looking all over for you. Come, you have to help me.” She links her arm around yours and pulls you forward. “Woah, slow down, help with what. Lia, what trouble did you get yourself into.” You already started to scold her. “I did nothing but Rolan wants to leave and it’s all because of his stupid apprenticeship.”  She groans. You stopped listening when she said the word leave. “He wants to leave….” You asked her before noticing you stopped in front of Cal and Rolan. “Great! Stop dragging her in our arguments.” Rolan sighs, scolding his siblings. “You want to leave? Leave us behind?” You look at him. “I….why?” He looks away, not able to face you. “I…before you begin, it’s not about my apprenticeship…as I tell these two, I want to protect them and with the goblins attacking once in a while and the druids throwing us out soon. This place isn’t safe.” He concluded but you weren’t having it. “So screw the rest of us?” Your tail behind was swinging a bit from holding back your anger. “You are just going to leave us behind when we need all of us to fight back in case these goblins come through the gate.” You frown “ Just ...forget it…do whatever you think is right.” You raise your arms up, get fed up with everything and walk away.  Cal elbows Rolan “Nice going, you are just pushing her away.” He sighs as Rolan looks away “Quiet!” He yells before looking over to see someone walk over to them.
You walked around the cave, going to each tiefling making sure they are okay. Checking to make sure Mol isn’t up to her daily mischief. “(Y/N)!” Someone yells. Turning around you see Komira running to you. “What's wrong?” You walk over seeing the panicked look on her face. “It’s Arabella! Those druids took her!” You walk over where the rest of the tieflings were, with the druids blocking the entrance of their sacred pool. “What is the meaning of this! Where is she!?” You gently push your group to the side to pass through, others move over to let you handle this. “Kagha, where is she? It's time we talk.” You frowned. Standing near the shapeshifted bear. “Stay back, she’s under our care for stealing '' One of the druids walked up to you. “I will repeat myself. Where is Kagha?” You look up at them, Arabella’s parents right behind you. A gnome druid walks over whispering to the other druid in their ears. “Seems like you’re needed, just don’t do anything stupid.” He mutters, letting you through. “Stay here, I will make sure she’s okay.” You turn around to Komira and her husband before walking over to the stone door. “What is the meaning of this Kagha?” You descend down the stairs, tail swishing around furiously. Rath walks over “ Please (Y/N), let's not escalate this more than we should.” He begs. You stood up in front of Kagha “Let her go, she’s just a little girl.” You glance at Arabella seeing her stay still as the viper hisses near the poor girl. “Girl? You mean parasite.” She frowns. “Watch it.” You go to walk up to her but Rath gently places a hand on your shoulder stopping you. The stone door opens. You turn around seeing 4 unfamiliar faces, did your father let them pass? You look as one of them was a tiefling but they weren’t from your group.
After a couple of minutes, you held Arabella's hand as this odd group was able to convince Kagha to let her go. “Next time, no stealing got it. I doubt Kagha will be forgiving if you pull another stunt.” You let her go as she ran to her worried parents. “Thank you (Y/N)!” Locke smiles as you shake your head, “No thank those that walked in after me…speaking of that I need to have a word with my father. Remember what I said Arabella.” You look at her as she looks away “ I remember, thank you.” Walking off, you look around for your father and spot Rolan with Cal and Lia. “ I thought you were leaving” You mutter. “Well, can’t I change my mind?” He sighs “ I’m sorry…it was unfair of me to even think of leaving during the most critical time.” You smile hearing his small apology. “ It’s fine, what made you change your mind?” You go to stand closer to him only to stop hearing his response. “Another Tiefling came, they saved us from another horde of goblins, they made a very compelling point.” He began not seeing Cal and Lia shake their heads behind you telling him to stop.”Oh…that newcomer…that's good to know…” You look away “Excuse me…I have to have a word with my father.” You walked away feeling jealousy and insecurities flowing through you. “I thought she would be happy?” Rolan groans “Women are so complicated” He sighs Lia sighs “ No, just men are idiots.” She rubs her face groaning “ But you brother, are a much bigger idiot.”
Synopsis: Being born in a different planet that is practically for your kind to live in is surely the most shocking thing someone would hear from another, but not for Y/N. No. Out of all the things she would be worried about? It's definitely not being in Pandora- that until a certain someone comes into the story.
Y/n has had her fair share meetings with the navi people, that being part of the specific humans who were allowed to stay on pandora through the famous Jake Sully of the Omaticayan people, the Olo'eyktan of the Omaticayan people, and the ever great Toruk Makto. That being said, being the daughter of one of the recomms and  good ol' friend of Jake, Trudy Chacon, its not a surprise that Y/n has already met their family, including the children- well- except for one, that is Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan- Prince of Omaticaya, The fierce son of Toruk Makto, The perfect little soldier- blah blah blah, you name it.
Y/n has always wished to become one of the people, and maybe even more. Stuck in a planet where your kind couldn't possibly live was a life Y/N had grew up living normal to. Learning the ways of the navi people (through research) but hopes to learn it differently was a dream Y/N has always longed for. To learn and become one of the people..
So when the time comes and two fates meet- who will say that it's not just destiny that brings them together?
Chapter 1 - Until I found you
Chapter 2 - Till I Met You
Tumblr media
You woke up with a pounding in your head, you opened your eyes as you stare up in to a woven ceiling, you’re in a hut. Mo’ats Healing tent. You raise your body too quickly making you lightheaded, Mo’at sees you awake and smiles a little.
“You’re awake now my child? Why so soon?”
“I - uhm- did-... did something happen?”
“Lay down first my child-”
“But i” Moat gives her look
“Okay..”
“What happened to me?” You ask Moat as she applies a little healing paste to your scabs and wounds, making you hiss a little
“You were injured badly, a little while ago, but thats from what i have heard, Jake must know what happened, maybe you can ask him..”
As soon as Moat finishes up adding medicine to your wounds, not a moment later, Jake had enter the hut.
“Baby- listen, we have no other option, we need him back to stop them all”
“He saved him! He was almost the reason why-” Moat clears her throat
“Mother…” Neytiri says to Mo’at as her gaze then shifts to you, her face contorts to that of worry and concern, you had never been this close to Neytiri, especially alone without both Lo’ak and Kiri, but you feel alittle relieved Jake was there. You had come to know about her disdain for human kind, ofcourse of what had happened to her father and sister, and though she did not want spider too close to her children, she had her boundaries knowing Jake was like them too, and when you had been born … well, you had very few interactions with her only knowing Jake was accompanying her to the lab to check on Grace and the other scientist, that being Norm, Max and Lara,
“Hey kiddo, you doing alright?” Jake asks you, as you sit up with a grunt
“Never been better sir-” you hiss at the sudden sharp pain at your leg, you'd forgotten that harsh fall from being chased by the teams that the pain didn't seem to settle in until now. Although most of the medicines that Mo’at had put on you awhile ago seemed to lessen it.
“Do not worry my child, it'll only be a few days until it heals, but you're only able to walk for now.”
“We're gonna go eat dinner right now, I told Norm and Lara that you're here with us and you're safe but they'll be here around first thing in the morning”
“Mo- morning??”
“You've been out cold for around 4 hours, seemed like that fall did a number on you both ”
“Wait- what do you mean both-”
“My son saved you both from that fall remember? That explosion could've damaged you both even more but luckily he knew which part of the forest you guys were in”
Lo’ak?...
“Is- is he alright? Is he okay-?” You feel worried from that fall and how he must feel after he had been injured from it- but that wasn't your initial thought, who was that man from earlier-
“Ma'Jake.” Neytiri holds Jake's shoulder and gave him a look, a look that only both of them knew, until jake looks back at you and back to neytiri that he whispers something to her that you couldn't make out. “If you would like, child, you may visit him, he is… feeling a little unwell at the moment- but I'm sure.. he would like to see how you're doing as well..” You feel a tiny bit startled by how Neytiri is taking to you, your slightly terrified but also relieved for some reason
You take a deep sigh “I'd like to see him”
Jake and Neytiri look at each other before jake nods in approval, he tilts his head signing for you to follow them both. Mo'at helps you up as your still injured from the fall, silently thanking her for helping you up, you wore a shawl before going out to follow them both to their hut, that's when you see it, or him to be exact. And it wasn't Lo'ak..
Neteyams sleeping figure was slightly upright laying on a few furs to help elevate his body, his body looked tired and scars and bruises were scattered everywhere, one of the injuries you've noticed by far was his ankle. Of course it had looked bad in the beginning but it looks a lot worse now that you see it upclose. You whispered silent worries under your breathe which awoke Neteyam, the eyes you recognised now were the same ones from when he saved you. His eyes grow wide seeing your form standing there before him, as he then looks to the side seeing his parents right behind you, he grunts a little, sounding annoyed when he says-
“Why is she here?” His voice slightly rough and husky, he breathes heavily as he questions his parents
“Neteyam.” Neytiri says his name firmly, earning a small grunt from him, until he apologises
“Tsap'alute si-” (I apologise-) Neteyam says to you, though he assumed you didn't know what it meant but your smile said otherwise-
“Txe'lan Mawey” (It's okay) You say to him, he feels slightly shocked you knew the meaning of it, so did his parents looking at you to him with an amused expression, though his reaction faltered after a few seconds returning to his stoic demeanour.
“We will leave you two to speak to each other for a moment-” Neytiri says to you and Neteyam. “We'll call you kids once dinners ready” Jake nods to the both of you before Neytiri pulls him out of the hut, closing the flap of it for your privacy. You look from the exit to Neteyam, he looks at you like your some kind of nuisance entering his space before him, you had felt something stick at your throat because of the way he looks at you, but you swallow that fear with pride and sigh inwardly, as you were about to speak he talks before you do-
“Why are you here? You do not need to come and check on me like I'm some baby pa'li that needs help” Neteyam barks as if you were in the wrong, you felt a small jab in the heart for the way he speaks to you, and felt the need to say something back but you hold it to yourself, knowing he saved you, you felt some sort of pity for the way he must've felt the need to save you, you were always like this around others, spider obviously telling you that most people would take advantage of the way you are, but you just want to understand. You sighed again but your face turns into a more serious one.
“Did mother ask you to come here? You should leave then, do not force yourself to come here because of-” As you almost let himself speak over you again, you talked over him this time. “She didn't ask me. I wanted to.” You said firmly, he was a little lost of his words when you said this.
“Why are you here then?” he asks again “Why did you save me?” You say back. He looks at you in disbelief, he wonders if your crazy for asking such nonsense or if the fall did really hit you hard. “Are you seriously asking me this?” He retorts, making you question why you asked in the first place, wanting to facepalm yourself for asking an idiotic question. “Maybe..” He rolls his eyes from your answer as he faces to the wall of his hut. “I wanted to check up on you… because i was worried… if anything I'm glad you're doing better” You say to him, making him look back at where you were, you took two steps near him and he gulps at the distance between you two. He looks down to where you were, seeing that your hand was about to touch his arm full of scars and bruises, he pulls his arm back a little causing you to look up at him, his heart aches at the eyes he once knew. “S-sorry, it still.. hurts..” you look at his arm and nod, sighing feeling bad for the way he got hurt trying to save you. “I'm sorry..” Neteyam looks at you, brows furrowed with confusion, why are you sorry? You did absolutely nothing wrong, he saved you and yet your sorry? It should be him who's sorry, for not protecting you better, is what he thought until- “Why did you save me…?” You asked him once more, which makes him feel confused until you repeat yourself  “I mean- why would you save me- your family they-” “Kids! Dinners ready, let's go-” Jake announces when he opens the flap of the hut, you turn from jake to neteyam quickly as he gives you a look, you don't know if he's asking you to leave or he has something to say but as you speculate further, jake calls both of you again.
“We're coming, dad!” Neteyam shouts back to him, “Let's go, it can wait-” You say to Neteyam as you both leave the hut and enter his families hut, there you see loak, kiri, and tuk. You hugged each one of them as you remember falling behind them in the chase, you sigh in relief knowing they were okay, but no spider… you felt anxious as to why he isn't there, normally you'd be fine with all 3 of the siblings with you, but not seeing spider made you feel weird. You think about asking jake–
“Where's spider?...” You ask jake and Neytiri, both of which look to each other then back to you as they try to brush the subject off, you felt suspicious as to why they didn't answer.
“Let us first eat my child, the food may get cold-”
You look at them with slight worry, but you ignore it thinking he might come sooner or later. You all sit in one circle, Surrounding the bonfire passing on the bowl of fruits to one another, you sat between Lo'ak and Neteyam, as you take the bowl from Lo'ak, you take a few pieces and pass it on to Neteyam, he takes the bowl cupping your hands under it, he was deep in thought looking at you as your eyes rake over his features, you seem to take note that neteyam looks much similar to Neytiri but also has the stature and build like Jake, though he did not look similar to Jake in some features, there was still some human blood in him that resembled jake like his leadership and skills. But as you felt the need to stop over analysing the person in front of you, neteyam seems to be also lost in your gaze, you felt a little nervous wondering if he was feeling annoyed because he wasn't saying anything. Jake had to clearing his throat that made Neteyam focus back to his surroundings, and as he looked to his left which is where is father is, he looked back to you, nervously looking at him as if it had taken awhile for him to just take the bowl from you.
“Sorry.” He said sternly, passing in the fruits again until everyone had their share. Everyone had silently ate their food until Jake had started a conversation, talking to Mo’at and Neytiri about upcoming events for the clan. You look around all of them conversing to one another, tuk and kiri lost in a conversation, as Loak nudges your side making you look to him at your right, he smiles and leans over to whisper into your ear “You okay?... you seem nervous” “Maybe because I've never had to sit and eat dinner with your whole family before?” Lo'ak rolls his eyes at your comment and continues “Well I mean you've got me” You push him slightly cringing and softly giggling at his comment, as you both silently snicker.
Neteyam clears his throat catching both of your attention to him, he glares at you and Lo'ak, eyeing Lo'ak with a warning as he gaze lands back to you making you shift in your seat, Lo'ak grumbles a little and leans in again “Don't mind him, he's just mad at me for some bullshit I did probably, I don't know for you though” “Maybe if you focus on eating instead of talking to me then he wouldn't be looking at you like some yerik he's about to hunt-” you tell him back “blahblahblah focus on your eating, I'm Y/N and I know everything-” Lo'ak mocks your statement in which you say “oh grow up-!” As you stuff a yovo piece into his mouth muffling his protests as you giggle softly at him.
As you and Lo'ak continue to goof around, Neteyam calls Lo'ak “Quit playing around-” Neteyam whispers lowly to you both “What- we’re just having fun-” Loak retaliates, “Loak-” You tell him to make him stop “you should listen to her-” Loak looks at Neteyam then to you growling under his breathe closing his eyes for a split second.
“Kids- we need to talk now.” Jake announces to you all as you head to the other side of the room to meet, once everyone was there Jake clears his throat before speaking. “I need everybody to listen to me, it's important we discuss this sooner because I need all of you with me on this…” Everyone looks at each other confused, you on the other hand had no idea what Jake meant by this listening what comes next. “Quaritch is armed more than ever, I know it's been awhile since we've last encountered him- but we're trained for this… I know you boys still butt heads or some shit but i want you guys to not take it out in each other and instead face it to the real enemy, he's got every possible weapon they need to hurt us, but that doesn't define what we can do to them, we're stronger than that, because we're sully's, and sully's stick together, remember that-” They all nod simultaneously. What's going on? Why are they back? You wonder as you hear more people come inside, you turn to see who it was and it was Max and Lara-
You run to hug both of them, feeling much relaxed now that they were here to get you back to the lab, but something in their faces seemed like there's something bigger that's gonna happen…
“Y/N.. spider got taken.” Max told you as you look up at him confused by what he meant- “What?...” you withdraw backing up a little to see if Max was serious about it, eyes slightly watering waiting to see what he says next
“Spider.. was taken by the recoms- and… we can't track him anywhere… he's out of reach.” Your mind gets foggy, feeling all sorts of things running through your brain in just a second,- “We- we can get him back though right? There has to be-” Lara puts a hand on your shoulder,- “We've tried countless ways to get a hold of his location- but they must've removed it from him- theres a million places in Pandora of where he could be taken to-” “Then there must be a way to find him- he's the only family I have left- i-” tears spill down your face, every feeling you have crashing through like a tsunami.
“Norm- Lara-” Jake looks at them as if silently asking them to talk for a minute privately. You stood there, tears flowing down your face, this can't happen again- why now? As if everything hadn't gone from bad to worse, a small ball-like gadget was thrown inside the hut out of nowhere, you and the sully siblings look at the direction it landed, Jake had seen it too and warned everyone to not get closer, tuk seemed to be intrigued by the object and began drawing closer to it, a beeping noise occurred, alerting you to pull her back-
“TUK!-” as you pulled her back trying to protect, everyone instinctively withdraws back to take cover, but something else came on, it was a projector of some sort, from the screen projected none other than Quaritch which made Jake furious. “Quaritch.” “Your damn right sully- its nice to see that pretty face of yours again- look at you- you and your family all huddled up in the perfect little area where I can just get ya’? Oh and Mrs.sully here looks younger than ever!-” Neytiri hisses at Quaritchs remarks about her “How dare you do this to us vrrtep! I will kill you as many times as I want to!” She barks at him growling under her breathe. “Ah ah- there it is, now I miss that- my my isn't that your golden boy? Your son there looks pretty A-okay, gotta hand it to you buddy you can take a bullet-” “Leave us alone- or ill make sure you'll regret saying that to my face again.” Neteyam says to Quaritch with disdain ready to pounce as if he was right there- “What do you want from us you low-level freak!?” You shout at him this time causing everyone to look at in shock, Neytiri somehow feels a little pleased you called him that, everyone else stunned from it.
“Ohh now this is who I wanted to meet for the longest time- ain't this trudys kid ay? You're a fighter aren't ya’ kiddo? But you've got something more special in you- half-breed wasn't it? Half human half navi? You remind me of her- can't back down a fight- ashame of what had happened to her, best recruit i had here, although that can change since you're here now-” “You know what you did. Talk about my mother again and I'll do unspeakable things to you-” Quaritch chuckles “Oooh now isn't this nice, everyone got their say of bs now? Good- now Jake- isn't it about time you stop running and actually do something, I'm getting tired of this cat and mouse shit we have goin’ on here-” “say what you want from us right now or I swear to you-” “now now- see I've got a good deal here- if i bring you back one of your humans- in exchange for one” Quaritch points his finger to you “Then all is settled and we can let bygones be bygones, isn't that nice?” “We will never give you one of our people-!” Neytiri hisses at him
What? Why does he want that? And more importantly- why does he want you? “Now cmon, Y/n… don't you want to know who your father really is? Why your mom’s never talked about him? Don't you want to know how you were created?” Jake comes closer to the projector and faces Quaritch “You can't convince us easily, especially from what you did! We're not afraid anymore.” “Oh but shouldn't you be? I've got more power than you'll ever imagine, you're dealing with the wrong person, sully..”
Neteyam breathes heavily and moves in front of Jake to take the small ball projector and brings it out of the hut  “We'll end the RDA's reign over the Na'vi people, everything that you've done to our people will end with you all burning into flames, and it'll be the last thing you'll see before you're gone too.” Neteyam spits every word with venom and throws the gadget into a nearby tree and smashes it, cracking it into pieces leaving the projected face of Quaritch long gone, he breathes heavily when he looks at all destroyed parts of the projector.
Neytiri goes up to Neteyam and puts two hands on his shoulders making him tense
“Are you alright ma'itan?” “I'm fine mother- I just need to speak with father-”.
—————————♡———————–––
The sully siblings including you all went into the hut and meet Jake there, you all sit down wondering what he was going to say next.
“Y/N can I talk to you for a moment?” You nod to him as you look back to all the sully siblings and see the confused look in their faces.
“I know you have a lot of questions and I'll try to answer them shortly as possible. Kid- I always knew you were different, and I know you felt that too..”
“Why does he want me?” “I don't know for sure-” “Well if you knew i was different then it would be easy to tell that you know why?” “Listen kid, you'd be in grave danger if I ever told you why-” “and why’s that? Why can't you tell me-?” “Because you've never met a man like Quaritch before- and if he knows where you are, who knows what he'll do to you, and what it'll mean for us..” Silence overtakes the room as you take a sharp sigh.
Then let me fight.” Jake looks to you in confusion “Train me to fight against Quaritch… that if it stops him from hurting the people and destroying life in Pandora, I promise you that even if it means I'll die too…” Jake thinks about it for a moment, he'd have to talk to Norm about letting you go against Quaritch with him, especially Lara. “Okay. If that's what you want, I'll let you do so, under one condition, you train with my son.” “Wait loa-” “Sorry, i mean Neteyam. Neteyam will be the one to train you, he'll also supervise your progress and be your guard- I don't want to take any chances by letting my other son do that with you-”
As you both finish talking you both enter the hut once again with everyone in it, Jake clears his throat “We'll be moving up to the higher camps to keep a low profile, Neteyam and Lo'ak, we'll have a meeting tomorrow with the troops to provide Intel of our plans, kiri- I want you to take Y/N with you to Mo'at tomorrow. Am I clear?”
He looks to Neteyam and Lo'ak “Yes, sir.” They say in unison. “Then it's settled, I want everyone to head to bed early, we've got a lot to do tomorrow.” “Does that mean Y/N will get to sleep with us here?!” tuk asks in excitement as Neytiri nods in agreement, kiri excitedly pulls you to her and tuk and moves you to their room with Neytiri. Neteyam and Lo'ak leave to their room, but as neteyam was about to enter his, Jake pulls him aside and puts a hand on his shoulder, “I want you to train Y/N” “what?.. but dad- this is crazy I cant-” “I know, I know-... but, it's for the best she knows how to fight for herself, unlike before.. so I want you to keep your head in the game, focus. Do it for you, do it for everyone in this family, do it for her” he looks to other room where you are and back to jake as he then releases a deep sigh and nods to Jake
“Okay..”
——————————————————–
You look around the room seeing various crafts around it, surrounded by vines and beautiful flowers and greenery, around the right side you see a small table of sorts filled with jewelleries and some headpieces and armoury, must be for Neytiri perhaps? You thought to yourself you look around admiring the decor of the room, kiri giggles over at the side as she watches you look around fascinated by it, you look over to her and smile.
“What's so funny?” You give her a raised brow as she walks over to the table and fixes a few things “ohh, nothing. It's nice to see a new place isn't it?” You hummed in agreement, taking a short sigh for relief for yourself as you sit on the cot, “So… are you excited?” You look at her a little confused “about what?” “Y'know… about staying here and training, you'll spend more time with us, despite the impending idea of some military guy looking for you and stuff to try and take over our planet” you giggle at her sarcasm, you've always know kiri to be a down to earth person, she was always sweet and kind but also had a fighting spirit, which is why you both had been bestfriends for so long together with Lo'ak, it was nice to be in a different place for once… “I like it here… it's comforting… I just- I just don't know how my aunt would react to this, y'know… I haven't been far away from the lab until now-” “Lab shmab- you've got us! Look you've been stuck in that lab for way too long it's time for a new scenery-” Lo'ak enters the hut unannounced, you look at both of them then back to kiri as she gives you a lighthearted smile.
Everyone was already fast asleep, you slept beside kiri and tuk which made you feel a little comfortable but you still couldn't find yourself to sleep, as you kept tossing and turning at your side you sit up looking at everyone who was sound asleep in their areas, you look at the open crack of the flap and see that the moonlight peaks through it, as to not wake everyone, you quietly moved to stand up and tiptoes your way to the flap to sneak out for a bit, you look around to see if anyone else was awake but saw no one, the wind seemed to pick up the moment you went out and you felt a slight shiver through your spine, you let your feet touch the grass, it felt a little weird not having any shoes on but despite that it felt soothing for you in a way, you walk out until your somewhat far but quite close to go back to the hut, you sit on the grass and look up to the sky, the stars glimmer as you gaze on it for awhile, so much thoughts invade your head as you think about the many things you'll be doing, you don't know how to feel about it either, but you know for sure that you'll get your brother back, right…?
At a distance in the hut, Neteyam looks at your form as you sit there and think, he looks at you feeling all sorts of emotions swirling around his mind each passing second, eywa does he want to punch himself right now. How long has it been? How did things come to this? Did you coming back to the village give him hope that it was a sign from eywa? Or was it the guilt he has to remember for what happened in the past? No, you're right here, right now, in his line of sight, real and alive to him, but it doesn't feel the same, of course it didn't. You've been doing alright without him involved in your life, so what was the point? He should be happy, happy for you too, but he feels angry, why? He looks at you, eyes roaming over your form. Sure- you looked different, from the way you dress, you stayed in most of the time, and your hair looked much different from before, but you still have that same energy like he remembered, he should stop thinking about you. Oh, the burning desire that lights up in him seeing you again, he hates it, he wants to throw himself to a palulukan for thinking such things, why, out of all times, did you have to come back? But you seem so calm, so happy, so beautiful under the stars he feels like he's drowning in that same magnetic beauty that he was always enamoured by, you're just within reach, he just has to walk there and- what? What am thinking? No- this isn't right- I can't- I don't want to- he quickly shuts the flap and heads back to bed, trying to sleep again. He's over his head, he can't make history repeat itself once more, the only way to do that was to keep a distance from you, it's safer that way, he has to stop hoping you'd come back and be the same, it'll make the pain a little bearable then…
You turn your head hearing something behind you, but there was nothing. You immediately shook it off and stood up to go back to the hut,  you enter the hut feeling a little shaken from the gust of wind blowing your direction, you go back sleeping by kiri's side, hoping that your little alone time would help you sleep better.
—————————♡———————–––
The sound of water crashing was soothing to you, you were under a tree laying on the sand, taking a moment to rest, you take in the beautiful scenery, but as you were about to take a sigh of relief, you open your eyes to see a faceless navi man in your view, you sit up and scoot back quickly feeling a little scared, you wanted to scream but somehow couldn't. You look at them trying to decipher who could it be, so much so you didn't notice how they were more closer to you, this time you didn't mind though, you let your hand wander about as you were going to touch his face, you caress your hand to his right cheek, letting your thumb rub circles on it, and the Na'vi man leans on your soft touch, you felt relieved, but also confused. “Who are you?...” you ask, wanting to know the answer of whoever this person was, somehow they're presence was comforting to you, like you've known them for so long, but you couldn't put a finger on it… As you continue to gently caress his face the man puts a hand on your face, caressing it just like you are, soon clouds start to gray and small droplets of water pour over you both, you look at the sky as it starts to thunder, the wind picks up and blows heavily on your way, as the thunder clapping gets more and more louder- your soon awaken by the sound of clapping, disrupting your dream, you wake up, sitting up immediately although you regret doing that as you feel a little lightheaded and dizzy from getting up too quickly, you see your best friend in front of you, clapping her hands together to get you to wake up.
“Thank eywa you've finally woken up, thought you you were unconscious for a second there-” she chuckles “We're preparing to go to Mo'at- healing lessons start today, but you'll be meeting with both my brothers and dad around the afternoon- BORINGG! I know right?? But you'll have more fun with me, and hey, if you want, we can do some cool stuff after you're done for today since it's your birthday!” Oh shoot- it's today?! Eywa- I didn't even remember that it was today- wait- LARA.
“Kiri! I gotta go real quick but I'll be back before you know it-! I need to find Jake!”
“Y/n! Wait-!” “I promise it'll be a few minutes!” “Your going out in that?” You look down looking at your clothes realising they're all still covered in some mud and dirt, and you probably should change because your going to see their father- the Toruk Makto of the Omaticaya- “Right- I'll get clothes from the la-” “TOO LATE WE'RE ALREADY HERE- WE'RE DOING A MAKEOVER-!” Kiri pulls you as you let out a “WOAH-”. Kiri pulls out a new pair of loincloth and top for you, the beads on the top were sewn together nicely, different colours of gems and beads were shining under the light “I designed it for you- this was supposed to be another surprise for your birthday but since it is your birthday I'll give to you now to wear!”. She hands you the top as she ushers you to go change into it, you were beyond grateful for having kiri as your best friend and hoped that one day you'll give her something in return too, you ran and hugged her as you felt grateful for what she did for you “thank you kiri!-” “alright-! Now go change- I have to do your hair still!-” you run into another room of the hut to change and as a few minutes gone by, you go outside to reveal your look, instead of having a loincloth, kiri knew that being in a human body must be different when you wear clothes so she opted for a small skirt, it resembled a loincloth in some way, to add little touch, the sides of the skirt were made into slits giving you more leg room for you to run with it on.
“Oh my eywa-... YOU LOOK AMAZING- MORE BETTER THAN I THOUGHT- maybe cuz it's the first time I've seen you in this clothing but- YOU LOOK FANTASTIC-!” she squeals as she then pulls you forward to sit you on a makeshift chair they have in their room “Now time for the hair-!”. It only took a few minutes before your entire look was done, you looked at yourself through a mirror they had. You observed the way your movements flowed, probably because it your first time wearing real Omaticayan clothing, nevertheless, you felt proud in some way, it was only then that you realised you had to meet Lara before everything else.
“Kiri-!” “I know I know! Sorry I had you waiting but sure you can go ahead-! You can catch up with me later at Mo'ats” “Thank you-! I can't say this enough-” you run outside to see that the whole village was out and about, although it was no surprise to you to know that being in a village would always be busy, you find it mesmerizing to see the navi people go through their day. But you knew there was no time to waste, immediately going to Jake, you saw both Norm and Lara in his hut as they were speaking to him, their eyes move towards you, you wave at both of them timidly knowing that you probably have a lot of explaining to do with what's going on. Jake sees you and tells you to come in “Ahh-! Hey, Y/N- Norm and Lara are here, I want you to speak with them right now, I know you've got some stuff to explain to them but we've got time on the clock-”
As Jake pulls you to them, you're met with a slight confusion stare from Lara, Norm on the other hand had a slightly disappointed face on him looking at you- “Alright I'll leave you all to it- Y/N don't forget to meet me at the training base for the meeting-”. As Jake leaves you all, you look back to both of them giving you a raised brow for you to start talking “Hehe… soo… I'm part of the team now… haha… yay-!!...” “seriously? Are you crazy? First you sneak out fo the lab dead of night when I specifically told you that you can only do that for your birthday- next I see you joining Jake's team to fight  off quaritch? You're a human Y/N for crying out loud! You're not making yourself out to be a hero-!” “Lara- come on- take it easy on the kid-” “HELL- I've been taking it easy for awhile already and apparently it's not working!” “I know I've made a huge mistake but please trust me on this one! This is for spider Lara-!” “It is a huge mistake you could've died Y/N!” “WHY WONT YOU JUST LISTEN!” Silence overtakes the room as you shout at Lara- realising what you've done you wanted to take back your words- “I- I know what I did- could've ended up hurting me or killing me in some way, and I know that it was a huge mistake for me to do it- and i can't excuse myself for any reason because it's my fault that I snuck out- but- I need you to understand, that I'm not a little girl who needs to be protected all the time, I can fight on my own, I've been shielded away for my whole life and it's been suffocating me ever since, it's like everything I do I have to be protected in some way but it's not like that! I want to learn to be on my own- I'm not a kid anymore.” You felt like your throat was closing up, every word leaving your mouth and taking away the air in your lungs, the feeling of wanting to say those words and now finally having said it to her, you're tired, angry, and scared of what she would say, heavy breathing coming from you, Lara sighs deeply for a second as Norm starts to speak-
“Look Y/N… we're both just scared that, something might happen to you, we knew that one day- you would need to go out of the lab eventually, you've been with us your whole life, and we're just as worried of spider too… but we'll think of something to get him back, I know it…”
“Norm… can you go out for a moment… I want to speak with Y/N privately…”
Norm looks at the both of you, you silently nod to him urging him to go, he nods and leaves the room.
“You're just like your mother…” you look to Lara, who's avoiding your stare- “she was always the bold one out of all of us, she never liked the recombinants, we always found her in the labs for the most part. She and your uncle Norm had this sort of thing going on too so I guessed it was also that but-” She sighs looking at you for a bit then looking away “Things took a turn a year before you came into this world… you know your mother fought in a war she didn't even know she'd never come back from, but I want you to know that those people who say they know your mother and father well- they were also the cause of the war and her downfall- I may not have all the answers so far- but I've made a promise to your mom that I'll protect you no matter what. And if this is what you want to do, I'll let you do it”
Lara turns to you, walking over to place a hand on your shoulder “I never got to know who mom was, but I know she was a good person, and that's who I am, I'm not going to back down at a fight like this, so I'll be sure to come back once it's all over, I promise-” she hugs you dearly a hand over your head and you back sniffling a little “I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you” you'll your head up a little to look at her “I'll be fine…. Don't worry about me, I'll bring him back-”
You spent most of your time at the healing hut, learning the ways of healing through Mo'at and kiri, Neytiri had to tend to other matters and had brought tuk with her, so you might see her in the next lesson. You also had heard that Jake and the war party had gone for a mission, which included included Neteyam and Lo'ak as spotters, you didn't know much details because they had to go in a hurry, spider you were just left to the healing tent to start your lessons from there, to your surprise, you found learning the ways of healing pretty easy, you didn't really get why kiri complained most of the time but maybe it had been through the cause of multiple members of the war party coming to the healing tent right after the mission is finished, learning from Mo'at, it wasn't tricky at all, but sometimes she'd tsk at you for mispronouncing the herbs, you had learned before from Mo'at, only because you were visiting the village to help the scientists with some stuff, you had studied the kinds of herbs and plant life here in pandora, you were in the lab and had not much to do other other help both Norm and Max with their assignments and researches. Thanks to that you know most of them by now but had forgotten that you had to learn na'vi too, which you weren't an expert on, but Jake had left most of the teachings to Neteyam, in which you've kind of felt bad, being the oldest isn't a choice really, and you being added as another responsibility to his tasks… sounds annoying if you were in his feet you thought.
Neytiri and tuk had come back, with tuk in Neytiris arms. Her face lights up as she sees you, immediately asking her mother to put her down as you stood to hug her when she ran to you, though it was no surprise that tuk was tall and was only a few inches shorter than you, you didn't mind the difference. Neytiri approaches both of you as tuk let's you go, you sign to her, learning from Lo'ak when you were young that signing to your elders was a form of respect, you greeted her, she gave you a genuine smile, pleased to know that that had started your lessons, she greeted you too, signing as well. Although you've never really seen her often due to you rarely going to the forest, talking to her made you feel calm, as if every conversation didn't feel new, it felt a little weird on your part because you were over-analyzing things again, but you stopped as you heard tuk announce that the war party had come back.
They all move out, including you, to see what had happened while on mission. As they all land their ikrans.
“Fall in-” You looked at all of them, both Lo'ak and Neteyam injured, as you see kiri and tuk speculating their wounds, you look at Loak, he eyes on you already, you wave to him slightly as he nods, giving you a smile back as you mouthed the words “you okay?” To him, he shakes his head, until Jake had spoken once more.
“you're supposed to be spotters. You spot bogeys, and call ‘em in. From a distance! Does any of this sound familiar? Get here-!” Neytiri checks on the wounds of both Neteyam and Lo'ak, Neteyam had been injured the most. “Kiri, can you go help your grandmother with the wounded please-” “My brother is wounded-” “It's fine-” “Baby girl, please, tuk go with her, go-!”
“Dad-” Jake looks at him expectantly “Sir.  I take full responsibility-” “Yeah- you do! ‘Cause your the older brother, you gotta act like it.” Neteyam growls under his breathe trying to avoid saying anything else. Neytiri looks at Jake and speaks “Ma'Jake- your son is actually bleeding-” “Mother, it's fine- I-” Jake looks at Neteyam with all the scratches and wounds he has “Just go and get patched up, go on- dismissed, Y/N go with tuk and Kiri-” You nod at him silently, feeling a little nervous with the tense situation.
You had followed Neytiri and kiri to the direction of the healing hut, but you look back to see Lo'ak getting reprimanded and grounded for almost leaving his brother, almost killing him.You felt some pity for him, but you needed to help Neteyam as well.
You entered the hut, Mo’at calling for you to help her, while she had tend to some warriors of the war party, she gave you instructions on how to apply the paste beforehand, you learned quickly so you had helped some warriors with her and Kiri. Once Lo'ak and Neteyam had gone inside as well, Mo'at assigns Kiri for Lo'ak, making kiri tug Lo'ak to her side to tend to him, you had just finished when Mo'at had assigned you to the last one, which was Neteyam. Although the paste was good for the warriors, it didn't really help because of the stinging, though the paste made it faster for it to heal that way.
You made your way to Neteyam who was already sitting down to let you tend to his wounds, Mo'at had come to you to also help you learn a bit and to check on your progress. Neteyam hissed in pain, feeling it sting his wounds and some old wounds he had before, they were large so it was understandable, you cringed at the way Neteyam felt the pain on his multiple wounds. “S-sorry-'', you had said as you put the paste on some other wounds, you had checked if their were any other wounds on him that hadn't tend to but there were none, so you had checked if everything was alright until you spotted his ankle from before, the one were he had sprained it during the attack. You reach over to it “How's your ankle feeling-?..” “it- it's alright- agh!” He had felt a pain on his shoulder as Mo'at at put another different paste for it “I would use yalna bark, here- drink-” Kiri tells Mo'at as she passes the drink the Lo'ak “Oh? You would? And who is Tsahik?” “You are grand- move!” Shoving Lo'ak aside as Lo'ak gives her a small scowl “You are grandmother-”
You notice Lo'ak with a slightly disappointed look, his face locked in a  look you didn't recognize from him, as you were looking at him you didn't realise someone else had been staring at you the whole time.
Neteyam felt some sort of sting in his heart as you looked at Lo'ak with concern, he doesn't care though, he doesn't find any interest in your relationship with Lo'ak, he's not jealous at all, why would he? There wouldn't be any good reason- he doesn't feel the urge to just stop you as your walking up to Lo'ak and asking him to talk, to which Lo'ak agrees and follows you, but he doesn't pay any mind of both of your whereabouts, he's got much bigger things to be thinking of, even with your training, he has to train himself too- what is he thinking??? He wishes there's some way to stop his thoughts from thinking like this.
As you and Lo'ak move to a secluded area in the camp, you find a nearby log to sit on, tapping on it telling him to sit but he refuses with a grunt, “you know very well that this won't work on me-” “I don't think you'll say no either way, now come on” he grows under his breath, accepting defeat, as he sits right by you, you tell him to move closer and he does- just an inch though, you roll your eyes, you urge him more and getting ticked off by you, he sits super close to you, faces inches apart, growling under his breathe looking at you deeply “Alright, happy?” He says tight-lipped, but seconds later he realises how close you two are, his eyes move down to where your lips were, back again to your eyes, swallowing as if something was stuck at his throat, really it was only his words he couldn't get out, why was he like this? Eywa- why are you so- pretty like this-? His thoughts were stopped when he saw you staring at him. You give him a small concerned smile, soon to a little cheeky grin as you chuckle softly, “a little- enough about me- tell me.” “Tell you what?” “You know what I'm talking about” “no I actually don't- your gonna have to say it-” “you didn't talk to me this morning, or awhile ago, and judging by the look on your face there's something going on” “there isn't anything going on y/n” “Alright fine by me- I guess I don't need to talk to you anymore-” you say standing up walking to the direction of the hut as Loak stutters and grabs your arm quickly so you wouldn't reach far “wait- fine- i” he groans “I'll tell you-” “good boy” he rolls his eyes at your comment.
“It's- its just dad-” “What happened?” “I disobeyed his orders and almost got Neteyam really- hurt- or worse- almost got him killed- because I was at the war party's mission- I thought helping them would- you know-” He stutters while speaking, feeling a little tight knot in his chest, his hands were gripping the wood he's sitting on, “I'm a fucking screw up- i- shit-” He looks up trying his best to keep it all in, tears welling up in his eyes, although it wasn't sadness he feels, it was different than that. “Hey… I'm here.. I'm listening..” “They always see me as the kid who gets in trouble most of the time, they always assume that I'm the one who's causing the problems but why? I just want to fucking be like them, be like him?! He always looks at me like I'm some sort of pest. First he doesn't want me to train you- next he's telling me that I'm the reason they failed the mission?” “Loak-” “Does he even want me as a son-?” “Don't say that- that's not what he thinks of you-” “Y/N.” You feel a sudden change of mood from the way he says your name “Just stop. I don't think it'll change my mind with the way he thinks about me.” it was silent from there, your hand itches to comfort him physically but you don't think its the right move to do, so instead you started to speak.
“I don't think you're a screw up?...” Loaks head shoots up and looks at you from his side. His eyes scan your face as if he's asking if you're bluffing or not, but it stays the same. “You're lying” “and why is that?” “Because you should think I'm a screw up- because I am always like that, and I'll always be seen that way” “But that isn't what I think, because I don't think you're like that- your loveable, outstanding, adventurous, and kind. Lo'ak.” you say in a sincere tone, every word coming out of your mouth with nothing but sweetness, his eyes grow wide from your statement, he looks at you, a questionable smile on his face, brows furrowed yet his outh curves into an awkward smile- “that's stupid.” Loak says nonchalantly as you gasp and hit him in the chest as he groans and laughs a little “not stupider than you dum-dum” you both laugh as you hit each other playfully.
“Thanks.. you know…” he gives you a look in which you already know what he means as his hand covers yours, you don't realise the close proximity until he's touched your hand, feeling a small heat creep up your face- you look down to see his hand there and he looks too. A second passes and you both realise what just happened, both taking your hands off immediately, you both look away from each other and clear your throat, while Lo'ak gives an awkward “uhh''.
“Should we-” “Yeah-,maybe we should uh-” “Yeah let's just-” you both start to head back, Jake notices both of you and tells you both to head on early before tomorrow, so you head back to sleep but Jake asks you to follow him. Your not sure why so you just opt to listen and follow where he leads you, leading you to a private hut to which it was fully furnished, but you realised there were other stuff such a war gear and some headpieces, making you a little confused, but someone enters the hut and you look to your side to see none other than the mysterious golden child of the sully's- Neteyam. “Y/N you'll be sleeping here for the rest of the nights while training, this is for the better and I want you both to get used to each other while doing so.” His eyes widen to why his father had brought you here, he clears his throat and asks his father to speak with him outside the hut asking in a demanding tone “Why is she here father-?” “She'll be here for the nights of training to sleep with, I want her to get used to your presence so this would be a better choice” “Father this seems to out of line- is it not enough that she would be training with me i-” “Neteyam-” “Sir-” “I don't want any buts, its final, it won't be too hard to just sleep here with another person” “It would be fine either way if she had slept with kiri and mother-” “but she's not training with them is she? She's only training with you- therefore I want you to keep an eye on her as well, even if your training her, shes what Quaritch wants, whatever he plans to do with her- we can't let it happen-” “she won't do that- I know she won't-” “then if you know she wouldn't, you'll know that protecting her from him would be safer for everyone, including her” his fist clenches, yet another order his dad puts him as the responsible person for, bothering him so much already, now this?
“Sir- with all do respect this won't work-” “Neteyam- all I ask for you is to do this, please-” “I-” he groans softly, trying his best to keep himself from getting angrier further so he gives in. “Fine..” “Thank you”.
As Jake leaves Neteyams hut moving to his family's, he opens the flap to see none other than Neytiri, who was still up at this time. “Baby you're still awake…?” “Cannot sleep without you-” she says as she pats the side of her sleeping mat urging him to sleep beside her.
“Do you think it'll work?” “I wouldn't have asked you to do it then would I?” Neytiri quips making him a little skeptical, “if it helps bring back what was lost from her mind, then I'm hoping it would bring them both back again”. “And you're sure- that it would help regain her memories?” “Ma'Jake… if eywa wills it, I am sure it will be good”. They both look at each other as they lay down smiling.
“So.. we meet again-...” You give an awkward chuckle. Again, it felt like you were put into a situation where you had zero idea of who Neteyam was, his presence was… mysterious… mainly because your only used to his other family members instead of him. Snapping back to reality, your train of thought was cut off by a small growl, your eyes shoot up to him striding forward to you making you back away “Okay-! wait a second-!” A small panic settles in you but soon dissipates as he passes by you and takes a blanket and passes it to you. Your head cocks to the side in confusion as he speaks “You're sleeping here aren't you? Take it.” “Oh-! yeah-” He rolls his eyes in sarcasm making you squint, what's his deal? He walks to his side of the hut and looks at the other, he then proceeds to fix his sleeping area  “you sleep at that side, I’ll be here- if you have any questions, ask them now before i change my mind.” Wow, so he's supposed to be training me? You continue to just stand there and stare at him until he looks back to you and sees you've been staring at him. “Are you just going to stand there and look at me all night?” “Sorry- again-” “Can you stop apologising to me?” “Oh s- I mean- yeah-” “Seems like you have something to ask so I'm just letting you know you'll only be limited to 2 questions-” Jeez, lots of rules around this guy, huh?
“Well i was meaning to ask what the time will be for our training-” “after your healing lesson with Mo'at by mid-day” “oh okay-! Is there anything I should know before hand-”  “First, you can't be late to the training, more than 5 minutes, you'll receive consequences. Second, we're in a professional setting, so I want you to be well dressed for your practices. And lastly, since I'm handling the training course, you won't be going to anyone else but me, because I'm your mentor. Got it?” “Okay got it, just one more thing-” “That's already two questions, you should go sleep-” “oh but-” “as of right now you should be following me, so go sleep, that's an order” He covers himself in his blanket and turns his back to you, well that definitely wasn't rude. You started to fix your sleeping area, laying down and covering yourself with the blanket he gave you, you sleep back facing to him as you contemplate to yourself, you shift to your other side staring at his back, you're both a few feet apart. It feels weird to say, but it's a little comforting, you've never really thought about it like this, not even with Lo'ak, Kiri, or Tuk- so why now? Your thoughts linger with many questions…
Who are you Neteyam?...
