Paranormal Department
Something strange was happening in the world, something that even the League would not have prevented. It seemed that the United States government had been fighting things they didn't stand a chance with, and this almost ended in disaster if it wasn't for the kindness of what they were dealing with. The details were highly classified and encrypted so Batman didn't know the details and it was frustrating him.
All that trouble resulted in Justice League Dark working steadily with the "Paranormal Department", there wasn't much information on their members and they worked in the shadows (Bruce wasn't amused, he needed contingency plans) but Zatara claimed they were excellent allies, despite their strange use of modern technology.
Bruce didn't know what they were about, or what agreement the president had made, but he didn't trust this "new department". They could betray them at any second. That's why when Constantine informed him that they would take over the "Lazarus pits" he flatly refused. Apparently his refusal didn't matter at the end since the "Department" got jurisdiction over the case.
Team Phantom, which was now headquartered in downtown Amity Park (and had many new members like Paulina and Dash) was having fun pissing off the Bat. While Danny had made an agreement with the government to deal with threats from the Realms, one of the clauses was not to tell the heroes they existed (After years of living with the Fenton's Danny was not amused that anyone knew ways to eliminate him, Clockwork was backup enough). Sam thought it was childish but didn't stop him.
Sam handled all the legal stuff, but it seemed like they had jurisdiction over all the cases that interested them (more than JL, since they were an elite team in that field), and no one could reveal their identities, which relieved Danny greatly.
Their main job was to send the ghosts home and close the rifts, plus deal with demons, or creatures that came out of said rifts. Easy enough for them, but probably extremely risky if you were inexperienced. Honestly, since they dealt with the GIW themselves, Danny didn't trust the heroes, however JLD was fine.

DC X DP fic: Legal Compensation
Bruce Wayne doesn't know what sick monster would think it is funny to ruin Jason's grave, but when an alert arrives at the cave, he's flying towards the cemetery intending to find out.
And teach them some respect.
Of course, he knows Jason's not in there- not after his son returned with more hate and rage than a person- but it was still his last resting place.
He barely acknowledges Tim and Damian pulling up beside the Batmobile, each on their own bike while Dick, Steph, and Cass fly above him. They all got the alert. None of them are happy.
When they arrive, it's to see a teenager happily whistling as he shovels away layers of dirt. The stranger is in a white and black hoodie, a neon green ghost crossing from the front to the back, and his white hair with glowing green eyes lets them know it's not a human.
Or if it is, then not an average human. Meta, based on how he picks up way more dirt than he should be able to lift with his glowing green shovel.
They also see Jason get there first, his eyes glowing in Pit Rage and .points a gun to the back of the teenager's head. Bruce opens his mouth to shout, Damian manages to throw a ninja star, but they are far too late.
Jason pulls the trigger. A large bang is heard across the cemetery. The teenager drops into the deep hole he is making.
The family can only watch as the Pit Rage disappears from Jason's mind, and horror creeps onto his face as he realizes what he has done. It's too late now, though. The child is dead.
Bruce feels sick to his stomach- and then The teenager stands up, his head reforming in terrible familiar green liquid. The family forms a protective circle around a frozen Jason as the teenager turns around to look at them with Lazarus' green eyes and smiles.
Smiles at Jason with far too bright eyes. "I found you! I didn't realize you already left your grave, but that makes things easier. Jason Peter Todd, yes?"
"Who are you?" Bruce demands, stepping before his second oldest.
The white hair boy's smile becomes wider- if that's possible. "I'm Phantom. I'm working on behalf of the Ghost King."
Damian hisses, "What does the most powerful being in the multiverse want with Todd?"
"Baby Bat?" Dick asks without really asking.
"The Ghost King is the ruler of the Infinite Realms. The place where grandfather harvests the Lazarus Pit."
That's not good.
The teenager laughs. "The very same. He wants me to offer Legal Compensation to Mr. Todd."
"Legal Compensation? For what?" Tim asks this time.
"The glitch. See, Mr.Todd wasn't supposed to die- he was supposed to break the door and crawl to safety while the bomb jammed. At the same time, the Master of Time was preoccupied with another dimension saving the lives of six very important people to the Ghost King from a junk food explosion. Because of that, he was not there to control time correctly, creating a glitch in this universe's time flow. It speeded up certain areas, in your case, the location of the bomb's jam, making it explode earlier than it should have. He corrected it by bringing you back, but you were in a grave by that point. The Master of Time realized the grave injustice this was, so he sent me as legal Compensation."
That.... was a lot.
"How are you legal compensation?" Jason growls.
"Well, those people were just as important to me as the Ghost King. Since you lost your life due to the incident, I will give you my natural life here as a human for you to use." The teenager's form shifts after an ample bright light, and suddenly they are looking at a perfectly black hair blue eye average looking human who smiles happily at them. "Ta-da! So what do you want me to do first, Master Todd?"
"No." Jason hisses, looking angrier than he's ever looked before. Bruce can't say he doesn't feel the same way. "No, the Master of Time does not get to kill me. Go oopsie-daisy and then send me a fucking slave as an apology!"
"Not a slave- more of a- ugh Bulter!" The teenager argues, trying to crawl out of the hole and falling down, into a heap as he oversteps. "Wow, being a full human is going to get some getting use to."
"No!" Jason yells, turns around, and walks away.
"Wait! Wait! Master Todd, wait for me!" The teenager calls desperately, but Jason disappears into the shadows of Gotham without a backward glance. The boy slides into the mudd, voice muffled as he screams.
Steph takes pity on him offering her hand to help him out of the hole. "What's your name, by the way?"
"Phantom." The teenager says with a grateful smile taking the hand and climbing out. He gives the rest of the family an awkward smile "Danny Phantom"
Bruce ends up with another son by the following day. Jason ends up with a restless wanna-be butler who follows him everywhere, trying to serve him. The fact he cure his Pit Madness didn't seem to even register with him.
Jason wants Danny to leave him alone and quit the "I must spend the rest of my human life providing for your every whim". It's getting creepy.

What's a Little Creepy About the FBI's Arrest Warrant for a Blaze News Reporter
We have another instance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation going off the reservation. A Blaze News reporter who has done a couple of stories on the January 6 riot, which embarrassed the Justice Department, will be forced to turn himself in on Friday. Steve Baker has cooperated with the Justice Department, which has had Baker on their radar for months.
The creepy part about this story is that this reporter doesn’t know what charges he’s facing. The FBI has instructed him to wear clothing that suggests he’ll be forced to wear an orange jumpsuit. However, the Justice Department told Baker and his legal team that misdemeanors were the only charges facing the journalist. The outlet had all the details about the legal drama in a lengthy post, including the stories that might have painted a target on Baker’s back
youtube
"They didn’t have to go this route," Baker told Blaze News on Tuesday evening. "We have been told that my charges are only misdemeanors. And my attorneys have been assured that this will be an ‘in and out’ affair with 'no intention' to detain me. But rather than issuing a simple order to appear, they went the 'arrest warrant' route."  What's more, Baker said he still does not know what the charges against him are, noting to Blaze News that the powers that be won't tell his attorney about the charges because they believe Baker will post them on social media.  Baker's Dallas attorney, James Lee Bright, added to Blaze News that withholding the nature of the charges against his client is a "really unusual" move. Bright also said he's hoping to get a copy of the complaint against Baker as early as possible Friday morning.  […]  Bright told Blaze News that he's "disturbed" about what's transpiring with his client, especially given that Baker has been "in full compliance" all this time. Bright also said the federal government "three-plus years later going after people who were legitimate functioning journalists that day" appears designed to have an "absolute chilling effect."  […]  Baker added that when he asked his other attorney, William Shipley, why the federal government is treating him like this, Shipley replied, "You know why. You've been poking them in the eye for three years"
Baker's first Jan. 6 analysis for Blaze News came last October, following countless hours in a House subcommittee office looking at frame after frame of Jan. 6 closed-circuit video — and it had him wondering: did Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus perjure himself in the Oath Keepers trial?
Soon after, the slow pace of getting an unrestricted look at everything recorded on video prompted Blaze Media editor in chief Matthew Peterson's appeal to House Speaker Mike Johnson to release all the videos. On Nov. 17, Johnson did just that.
Baker's investigative efforts also resulted in two additional analyses, both focusing on Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn: "January 6 and the N-word that wasn't" and "Harry Dunn's account of January 6 does not add up. At all."
In December, Baker alleged he uncovered major irregularities involving Dunn, Capitol Police, the press, and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland).
In January, Baker asserted that just-released U.S. Capitol closed-circuit TV video clips from Jan. 6 show Lazarus gave false testimony in the Oath Keepers trial.
Like Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag, Baker also touched upon the curious case of the January 6 pipe bomber and the alleged targeting of the Republican National Committee, wherein new evidence suggests that the RNC was not the target. The FBI might have misrepresented the location of the supposed explosive device, which a then-FBI contractor discovered.
The FBI has harassed and targeted pro-life activists, so going after reporters who have questioned their narratives about some highly politicized stories isn’t shocking. The Obama CIA and DOJ colluded to manufacture a fake narrative about Russian collusion against Donald Trump. The FBI made up evidence to justify an illegal FISA spy warrant against Trump campaign officials. The FBI and the Secret Service appear to be engaged in a cover-up regarding the ever-elusive pipe bomber who cannot be found. They can find hundreds who entered the Capitol building that day, but not this guy.

Anti-Ecto Acts in the DCU
Okay, there are 4 ways I can see this going:
1. The Acts target any being that is contaminated by Ecto. In a lot of fanon, Ecto (and Lazarus Water) is explained to be some form of magic. In the worst case scenario, the GIW would be incapable of telling different types of magic apart, and will start hunting all magicians. JLD suffers
2. The Acts target "beings that ape human emotions, but cannot actually be proven to feel such emotions" hearkening back to the Fenton's belief that ghosts aren't really human anymore, and are just mindless/manipulative. This version of the Acts would target all aliens, not just ghosts. The Kryptonians, Atlanteans, Martians, Demigods and Tamaraneans would bear the brunt of this
3. The Acts struggle to define, both in a scientific sense and in a legal sense, what Ecto is, so instead they target any Meta that "absorbs a substance, and then can control said substance." This is a roundabout way of targeting ghosts and halfas, and would catch a lot of other Metas in the crossfire
4. The Acts target any Meta that died -- however briefly -- in the process of gaining their powers. This could start a witch hunt amongst Metas, where people have to prove somehow that they've never died. It would make all Metas more secretive and paranoid about their powers
Each of these would have wildly different effects on the Meta population of the DC 'verse, and it would be interesting to see how they deal with the situation. Especially when they learn that the reason they're losing human rights is because the government is after ghosts

Part Fourty-Six
Summary:  Baldwin Montclair had a string of ex girlfriends, a single child, and a  lifetime longer than most people could dream of to make all kinds of  mistakes. His family knew one which kept coming out of the woodwork to  irritate him every other century
Also on AO3
The house had been a whirlwind of activity since Martin had first brought Yvette home. Estienne had spent of his time cooing over the baby and worrying about the list of things that she would need. Josselin had rolled her eyes and gone down into the town, muttering something about over-emotional men.
Sister Rosaline hadn't been able to abandon her duties to join the household as Yvette's wet nurse, but she'd passed on the details of a second woman, Loyse, who had accepted the position. She was off somewhere now, setting up her things and sorting out the belongings of her own son, Jaquob.
Martin smiled. The boy had been hovering over Yvette all day, even letting her sleep on his lap while he held her hand.
Her first friend.
Yvette was awake now, eyes roving over her room. It was, temporarily, in the guest quarters while extensions to his tower were completed. There was a wooden cradle in the middle of the room - oak, covered in tangled vines and small birds - and a basket in the corner for dirty swaddling, but for the moment the room was bare of decoration.
'Do not worry,' Martin said softly, 'We shall have some tapestries cleaned and brought up for you.'
Yvette looked up at him, eyes rolling up immediately to stare at the ceiling then over at the window. Martin brought her over and held her up to the glass.
________________________________________________________________
'For the baby,' Miriam smiled, passing Martin a small wooden box.
Martin had given Yvette a proper Gaul baptism during their ride home. Now he had to pay for a Roman Catholic service to make everything legal and above board.
Matthew leaned over Martin's shoulder as he unboxed a silver spoon. The spoon was carefully engraved with YB, the letters entwined by tiny curlicues. 'That is beautiful!'
Martin leaned in and hugged Miriam. 'Thank you.'
'Of course! Anything for my favourite god-daughter.'
The guests parted behind her as Baldwin stepped through.
'Speaking of favourite god-daughters' Miriam murmured.
Yvette was gazing, enraptured, up at Baldwin as he carried her around. They had taken to each other immediately; Baldwin scooped her up and called her pignora, and Yvette shrieked with laughter for the first time ever and buried a tiny hand in his hair.
She was still playing with it now, winding copper strands through her fingers and watching the light play across them. Baldwin had a pinched expression on his face; as they drew closer Martin could smell why.
'All yours' Yvette cried out as Baldwin passed her to Martin, her big blue eyes filling with tears. Baldwin looked as though he'd been stabbed.
'Let us get you changed and Uncle Baldwin can carry you again' Martin kissed Yvette on the forehead as she started to sob, and went off to look for Loyse.
****
'What has happened?' Baldwin asked, as Matthew and Miriam blurted out 'Are you alright?'
'I asked Loyse to show me how to dress Yvette in case I ever need to in future.' Martin passed Yvette to Baldwin; he looked pale and green at the throat.
'And?' asked Baldwin, pointedly ignoring Miriam's unsublte shakes of the head.
Martin shuddered and turned even paler.
****
Later that evening, after the celebratory feast had died down and the guests had gone to bed, and Yvette had finally been peeled off Baldwin and put to sleep in the new nursery, Martin lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling.
Seeing his best friend holding his daughter, it was like - rītije - Martin swallowed the lump in his throat.
A future so tantalisingly close he could picture it as easily as breathing lay just in front of him on the other side of impossible and it was killing him.
Before, when it was just the two of them, - and isn't that a knife twist into his guts- he could pretend that it was fine, that meaningless hugs and stolen glances were enough to close the chasm in his chest.
Now though...
Now...
Now.
'He loves her too..' Martin rolled over, clenching fists into his pillow as he started to sob.
Author's Notes
From my research into medieval childrearing, it appears that nappies weren't used during the period. Instead, the child's swaddling acted as a kind of onesie plus, both clothing and diaper.
"...The most idiomatic and Roman of endearments is pignus. A pignus is whatever one gives as bond or security for a debt, or to assure appearance in court, good conduct, etc. By extension, a person who is a pignus can serve as a “collateral” or “hostage”—for example, in diplomacy between two states. When applied to children, as it sometimes is in epitaphs, in poetry and other emotive contexts, pignora casts them as “sureties” or “pledges” of the love of the parents, assuring the reality of their marriage. But in such contexts it has no legalistic flavor. Often the best translation is simply “dear ones” rather than something more literal, like “little guarantees.”" - Dickinson College Commentaries
Silver spoons: "In many religions, the christening of a baby is an extremely important occasion and one marked with a good deal of ceremony and hope for the future. It’s the moment shortly after birth where a child is named before their God and welcomed into the church as a newborn.
Many faiths have their own form of christening and celebration, but all these occasions tend to involve buying a gift for the new child. In many cases, this is a silver artefact or nicknack such as a spoon, box or bookmark.
There is a rich history for gifting silver christening spoons and it stretches back to Medieval times, perhaps even before then. The original reason for this was not because silver was a valuable metal but because it could help ward off evil and protect the child. The spoon later became a way to wish a child health and prosperity for the future and was highly symbolic.
As silver became a more valuable commodity, its gifting was more generally seen as a matter of prestige. It said something about your status in life and who you were. This is where the phrase ‘born with a silver spoon in their mouth’ came from, with all its negative connotations.
Today, giving a silver christening spoon remains part of the tradition and is usually given by a close family member such as a godfather or mother, brother or sister. The spoon can vary in design from the very ornate to a simple motif but it is normally engraved with the initials of the recipient child." - Edinburgh Silver
rītije/o - copulate (I'm using this as a stand-in for 'fuck' because the Proto-Celtic word list, which sadly is no longer available online, didn't have 'fuck' on the list).

Batfamily Headcanons - 4
-Sometimes in the manor beautiful instrument sounds might be heard in the middle of the night. It's Jason, Tim, or Damian who plays them, when they could not sleep they like to play their favorite instruments, Jason and Tim mostly play piano, and Damian plays either piano or violin.
-Let's keep going with Jason, he NEVER did drugs, and once he learned Roy was doing drugs, he was scared for his life. Because Roy was his best friend, and he did not want to lose him too, like his mother... And I also headcanon that, once he learned Roy was an addict and he was going to rehab, he was very relieved, he went to visit Roy in rehab with Dick, and he did not ever leave Roy's side while he was there.
-Also while it's in my mind, I want to say something, after all, Wayne's are real celebrities. The eyes are on them, and always were! Bruce still remembers some memories from his childhood, you know he is between Thomas and Martha, walking on red carpets as Wayne's heir. But after Thomas and Martha died, Bruce did not attend any events. It was only after Dick's adoption announcement that Bruce attended his first event with his legal son, Dick. Then he kept attending events with his legally adopted children. First, he went only with Dick, but then Jason was announced and he attended with both of them. But after Jason was kidnapped by Joker, neither Dick nor Bruce did not attend any events for a time. And after Tim's announcement, Bruce attended a few events with Dick and Tim. With that events, everyone started to question where the hell Jason was, so the truth has been revealed, Jason had been killed. Years later, Damian came out, but before Damian's announcement, Arkham Knight came out, and therefore Bruce learned about Jason. So the first event Damian went to was also Jason's comeback event. Damian really appreciated it because he did not want to get all the attention. And later, they all kept attending events, together.
-And, after that day, all newspapers announced Jason's comeback like "Gotham's Dead Prince Is Back!" Everyone was very happy to see him because Jason was always so kind to them, he was one of them. Therefore, at that gala, Jason made an interview with a reporter. He lied and said that with a fake ID, he finished high school and law school in a foreign country, and he did not want anyone to know about his existence while he was doing that, so he wanted to fake his death to the world, but now he was back. But the truth was a little bit different, he has been really killed, but after Talia learned about his death, SOMEHOW, she took Jason's corpse, and she got back to League and she brought him back to life. I am planning a whole story that includes Jason's life, so just know that for now.
-Okay let's keep going with a normal headcanon... About a month now, I am kinda obsessed with something... Damian with white streaks... Hear me out! I said Damian was trained sooo sooo hard, so sometimes he had got big wounds, which might end up killing him, but luckily he was able to use Lazarus Pit. So, as Jason went to Lazarus Pit for once and now he got his white streaks due to it, Damian got them too!!! The only difference is that his whites are on his sides and temples just like his grandfathers, not on top like Jason's.
-Bruce is an overprotective man over his children, this is one of his biggest problems. No patrol without telling him, no "Personal Case" without warning him, NO SNEAKING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Because he wants to know who is where and when. He tried secret body GPSs, but of course, it didn't work because, every time, all members took them off...
-But they are not idiots, especially Jason and Tim... One day, they got everyone gathered, and they talked about it, and at the end of that little meeting, they finally accepted to wear GPSs. But Bruce wouldn't be going to know about these GPSs. Because they knew Bruce would check them out, every damn second, if he knew about that GPSs, and everyone needs privacy sometimes, right? Soo, they decided that they would check where were they only if one is gone for too long without warning one other, it was a fair deal for all of them.
-Talia and Damian are the types of people whose eyes get blurry and disappear when they laugh. Clearly, they can not see anything... It's cute 🥰
-All members, oddly, are really silent movers, no one hears their walk, and sometimes it's also impossible to hear their breath.
-For Bruce;
Dick was "The Best Robin", it is because Dick knew how to act like a real hero, he always knew, even when he fought with Bruce, he still would suit up and save the day with Batman. He was very kind to everyone and he was looking forward to helping/saving them, he was soo athletic as he was born as a circus boy, also it was easy to train him, and lastly, as Robin, he was a good team leader. Shortly, he was everything that Bruce wanted him to be.
Jason was "The Unpredictable Robin" because when they first met Jason impressed Bruce soo much, and Bruce was definitely not expecting that, also after Jason became Robin, at first, he was so kind to Bruce, but then he started to change, his actions towards Bruce and criminals started to change, he became unpredictable in every way, one day Bruce was seeing Jason beating criminals, without mercy, and next day he was acting as nothing happened, one day Bruce and Jason were super good with each other and the next day they were about to punch each other. But no matter what, he was still soo kind to other people, he was a team player, which Bruce was appreciating, he was obviously born ready to be Robin.
Tim was "The Impressive Robin" because he was good at everything, in months -without Bruce's help- he had learned how to fight enough to impress him. Also, he was a perfectionist, just like Bruce. He knew how to focus on his target/case, and because of that focus, he sometimes could not even sleep. Bruce sometimes kinda hates this side of him, because Tim is a psycho about keeping Gotham safe and impressing Bruce. But everyone got used to his psycho side.
And lastly Damian... Damian was "The Worthy Robin" because, for Bruce, only Damian was worthy to take the "Robin" title. Thanks to Ra's, from birth, he was an assassin, a hunter who can find and hunt his hunt. So Bruce did not need to train him about such things... But... No one is perfect, right? He needed to train him about his attitude. As I say he was like a hunter, not a detective, he was an assassin, not a fighter. He was an aggressive/wild animal who needed to be tamed.
---------
That's all for this part. I hope you liked it!!

(Detail from James Gillray's political cartoon Evidence to Character: being a Portrait of a Traitor by His Friends and by Himself)
Wip intro: Eight Grams of Gold
Genre: historical fiction, courtroom drama, elements of cosmic horror
Progress: 1st draft
POV: 3rd person limited
Setting: 1795 - 1796 in Ireland + some scenes in England and France
Content warnings: gore / death / abuse / a variety of place-and-time-typical forms of bigotry / cannibalism / etc
Things have not improved for the RRL characters. A stolen shipment of guns, a dead landlord, and now a bizarre personal feud sparked by one man giving another a guinea, which spirals out of control into an esoteric legal battle which threatens to consume everyone and everything. And of course, in the mean time, the spectre of rebellion is looming, and as it is now the year 1796, the clock is slowly counting down.
First, there is Sarah Connolly, a peasant woman, whose son, Frederick, stabs and kills the landlord during the family's eviction. Seeking preservation above all, she sells the body to the innkeeper at the local Essex Arms inn, and washes her hands of the business, content to not ask questions about what innkeeper Lazarus McClure, whose mental stability has been going steadily downhill since the conclusion of the last story, will do with the body and content that she and her family will be safe under their roof for at least another quarter. That is, until it comes out that the Englishman who was meant to inherit his wealth, Charles Nathaniel Maurice Irving-Hamilton, 4th Viscount of Drenning, was recently disinherited in a fit of rage on the part of the man who Frederick stabbed. And the man who will now inherit is a mere bookbinder, a nobody, a tradesman, who infamous aristocratic spymaster Lady Maria Whittaker is incensed to discover will soon be on the same social level as her if he is allowed to acquire the land and the title that would have been Charles' -- who is a bad inheritor, but a suitably titled one.
Whittaker digs up a will. It would seem that the title once came with a lot more land, was severed from it quite by accident in the 1740s, and should, following rather the spirit of the law than the letter, belong to the brother-in-law of the object of Whittaker's very mutual unhinged psychosexual obsession, William Rearden. It isn't too difficult to convince this brother-in-law to contest it. Everyone wants to be a lord, after all. Only, the man who is now a lord refuses to give Whittaker's puppet a thing -- save for a single guinea, handed to him outside church one day as a deliberate mocking gesture. And what's worse, Rearden, who despises his brother-in-law, told him to do it.
AKA: now that I've lured u in with a story about gun-running I will make you listen to me talk about the 18th century Irish legal system for a billion million words ❤️
Ask to be +/- from the taglist!!!
Main Characters
Anthony Franklin -- (he/him) a man of science and lover of liberty from Scotland. A genial family man who loves his friends and chafes at all forms of authority.
Lady Maria Anne Whittaker -- (she/her) a Jacobite-descended Englishwoman whose job it is to get supplies to France, no matter who has to die for it. Loves, apart from herself, her sister.
Eoin O'Donnell -- (he/him) a Defender leader, now on the run from the law. Considered "odd" and "not right" but liked for being very good at terrorism. Has a terminal case of Catholic guilt.
Sarah Connolly -- (she/her) an Irish Catholic peasant woman trapped in an unhappy relationship. Blames herself for a lot but blames other people for more and someday that's going to end very badly for them.
Frederick Craig -- (he/him) Sarah's 11 year old adopted son, recently hired as a drummer boy for the local regiment. Holds a confused ball of resentment within his chest. Has strange dreams.
Annie Craig -- (she/her) Sarah's 12 year old adopted daughter. Considered a touch odd but liked well enough. Determined to find some justice in the situation she finds herself in.
Charles Irving-Hamilton -- (he/him) a worthless Englishman who did not even want to come to Ireland for his uncle's funeral. But he is willing to stay if he can get some entertainment out of ruining this legal battle.
Lady Eliza Durham -- (she/her) a scheming landlady. Has been playing this game a long, long time, long enough to be sure of her ability to best anyone else on this list.
Edward "Lazarus" McClure -- (he/him) a resentment-filled, Derry-born, oak branch-wearing, sham-fighting inn owner. Loves his current fling and Winstanley; hates his father and the law.
Francis "Frank" Borden, Gerald O'Neill -- the new inheritor and Rearden's brother-in-law, respectively.

ANYLER ANHEKR ANGELRG ANEGOER. ANGKER. FOR THE ASK THING ANGLER PLLLEASS PLAEE.
SWK too if you will…..
just did angler here seperately since i got two asks for him! i'll do swk here
Sexuality headcanon: bisexual. totally goes "I can like guys and gals? That's.. SICK, MAN!" when he realizes
Gender headcanon: schrodinger's trans man. he gives off very strong transgender swagger to me but again it just depends on the day
A ship I have with said character: junior and weasel kid is winning me over. idk man junior's the only person he's met in years who's his age and gets what he's going through (tired and bitter after losing a father or atleast father figure in weasel kid's case). if junior hadn't died and had made it back to the six pint they totally would've started hanging out. i like to think that it started out as a "bro ive never kissed a dude before" "wanna try it out" "yeah sure dawg" thing and well. grew from there
A BROTP I have with said character: again him and lazarus! brotherly dynamic, sometimes weasel kid needs a bonk on the head to get some sense back into him and sometimes lazarus needs to lighten up a little
A NOTP I have with said character: him and any of the other patrons in the six pint. even if he's a legal adult by the main events of the game the agegap weirds me out sorry
A random headcanon: junior gave him his tattoo! you dont see it on him at that overhead segment where he doesn't have armor on in vicious galaxy because he just showed up to the inn. he pierced junior's ears in return (the vicious galaxy antiseptic saved their asses LMAO)
General Opinion over said character: GOD. WEASEL KID. such a tragic character, he's so young to be dealing with all of this. i hope he gets a semblance of a happy future

People reducing Dean to his anger are apparently lucky human beings, flawless, who never did a mistake in their whole life, never got angry and never had to face loss. I hope they keep having such a perfect life and being example of the perfection of human kind [for legal reasons (which are some people misunderstanding layers of speech) this is sarcasm because no one can be perfect]
welp since i'm obviously not going to sleep yet i'll answer this too.
yea, i mean, i'm not sure if the previous anon i've been speaking with necessarily is reducing dean to his anger, but we do disagree a bit abt what that anger means. i think anger, and even poor choices and actions stemming from that anger (which is really a manifestation of pain and trauma), don't make you "bad." i don't hold hard and fast rules abt these things or pass blanket judgement. everything for me is a case by case scenario full of factors and variables that add context and nuance to a situation. the way i view dean's situation and his experiences give him more empathy points from me. i feel deep compassion for him. i also think some of his feelings and actions are justified. sometimes i think dean could've been meaner. sometimes i think dean deserved to get angrier. i do like that he's flawed and messy and imperfect. it's so very human<3 (like. he's literally meant to represent humanity. i paid attention to the color coding in lazarus rising ok !! dean green of the earth, cas blue of heaven, sam red of hell. and i heard you metatron "he's in love.....with humanity" aka dean)
again, i don't want to put all blame on previous anon because we've been having a pretty civil conversation despite disagreeing on various points. but i know that there ARE a lot of fans out there who DO simply reduce dean to his anger and can't see past it to any goodness or redeeming qualities and to them i'd direct your message because really !!! dean is written in such a complex, layered way. he's more than just the misused phrase of "the angry man." he's more than john's ghost. we are all capable of anger and mistakes and flaws. i would not judge a real life grieving person so harshly, and dean, being fictional as he is, has suffered even more incomprehensible things, from having the fate of the world on his shoulders to enduring 40 yrs in hell. the way i am, i just can't judge him too harshly for not suffering the "right" way or grieving imperfectly or not being a "good victim."

The Post-Bisalp Diaries, Part Two: Survival Of The Tubeless
Happy Two Week Anniversary of me noping the fallopes!
When I was reading up on how others managed post-Bisalp before my own surgery, I saw suggestions like "take Gas-X for bloating", "use stool softeners so you don't 'strain' yourself", "have a heating pad for the shoulder pain", and so forth. They sounded helpful, and it was a good thing I had that stuff already on hand (for other reasons).
That said, here's what really helped me out during my recovery. ***DISCLAIMER*** Your mileage may vary, all bodies are different, and I sure as shit am no doctor or medical practitioner!
*Turmeric-Curcumin Pills*
It's what I first turn to when I get crap like PMS cramps or headaches. I do have ibuprofen on hand, but it's more of a last resort remedy for me. The ones I've been taking post-surgery are Gaia Herbs Turmeric Supreme, but I also have Terry Naturally's Curamin (regular strength) pills.
*CBD Stuff*
Thank goodness I live in a state where CBD products are legal to own. Tinctures and gummies, particularly the ones from Lazarus Naturals, have been a godsend.
*Probiotics*
I still took probiotics pre-surgery, albeit in food form (yogurt, sauerkraut, etc.) since I couldn't have supplements then. When I learned that I was given antibiotics during my surgery, I knew I needed to take probiotics later in the day; it's what balances out your digestive system after the antibiotics fuck with it. Maybe it could explain why, even if my appetite was reduced for the first few days, I didn't have bad gas. I took a high-dose probiotic (think the pills with over 40+billion cultures) in the first week, then, for the second week, went down to probiotics with no more than 25 billion cultures. And some low-sugar yogurt.
*Pedialyte Pops*
Like with many others who had a Bisalp, sore throat is a common post-surgery symptom. (It's the result of having a breathing tube down your throat during the procedure.) Though I had regular popsicles on hand, I ended up buying Pedialyte Freezer Pops as well as they also have electrolytes in them. And they're also fairly low sugar!
*Thrift Stores*
So I had to change up my wardrobe a bit for my recovery. A month leading up to my surgery, I got some jumpsuits, loose, high waisted pants with a comfortable waistband, slip-in shoes so I don't have to bend over and tie my shoes, and even a bed rest pillow in case I felt like a lazy-ass. Thanks to thrift stores, I got all that for a bargain. Who the fuck needs Wal-Mart?
By the way, because of my need to be active, and me fighting the fatigue during the first few days of recovery, I didn't use that bed rest pillow. I guess I may need it down the road, and it only cost me $5.
*Eating Low-Carb, Minimally Processed Foods*
Having been on Keto for the past few years, the diet has not only helped me shed blubber, but I've become more active from it. I can't say if eating low-carb/sugar-free foods and minimally processed foods helped my body heal quicker, but, save for the first three days after surgery, I never felt sluggish in my recovery.
*A Decent Landlord & Loan Deferments*
OK, forget the physical aspects of my recovery; it's the financial aspects that took the real beating. I'm able to receive Short Term Disability while out from work (I do not work from home and my job is very physical), but waiting for the payments have become a pain in the clit. I'm still waiting for them, and it just happens to be a holiday weekend right now. Just my luck! So, I like to give a shout-out to my landlord who was cool with me underpaying my rent for this upcoming month, and the few loan companies who I have accounts with that were able to postpone my payments so I don't go so broke to where I need to sell my sterilized ass on the streets for a few bucks. (Like, literally a few bucks--it's the going rate for old millennial ass.)
Also, a friendly reminder that just because one is childfree doesn't mean they got deep pockets. Some of those "I got to vacation in Italy last week 'cause I got no kids!!!!" posts you see on Reddit's Childfree subreddit are likely made-up as hell (it's Reddit, after all). Now that I think about it, I think I'm more of a WINK (What Income? No Kids) instead of a SINK at the moment.
Tumblr media
A Few Things I Got/Have That I Didn't Need In The End...
--GasX pills (I was never really gassy, and they were the 99-Cent Store version as opposed to the name brand, so I didn't lose money on that)
--Shoulder/Heating Pad (others have suggested it, but I only used it just once and that was because it was a cold night)
--stool softeners (I think the probiotics helped me out with this one)
--ibuprofen (took it once and it fucked with me. I'm used to the 200mg pills, but 600mg per pill?! Fuck no!)
--prescribed oxycodone (didn't even open that shit)
And A Couple Things You Don't Need To Buy...
--disposable underwear (the hospital will provide you with as many pairs as you need. I never bled, thankfully, but I was still given a few pairs.)
--anti-nausea patch (another thing the hospital will give you, but only if you request it. I could've saved myself $6 from the pack of anti-nausea patches I bought on eBay! *punches air*)
*****
Again, what helped me out post-Bisalp may or may not help the next person in recovery. If there's one thing I highly recommend that will help the next person recover from a Bisalp smoothly, it's having plenty of money so you don't have to worry about financial shit like me.
**ETA: Tumblr told me this is my 100th post here. I'd celebrate but I also outed myself as a broke bitch in the post, so...

whats the haunted house au and do u have any hcs for it
oKAY SO-
Aside from some shit about Chandrelle, Lazarus, and SWK, majority of this is made up on the spot, because I develop aus more easily by talking about them than just thinking about them. Fun fact! Au was thought of because I was listening to I Ain't Done (The Crane Wives) and was like "Heehoo dead lovers" and then the brain train just went on from there. Like always, info under the cut. Also it contains descriptions of violence and death, so proceed with caution!
So basically, it has a similar type of vibe to Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion, where you got the protagonist going through a large haunted house with all the inhabitants tryna kill them. The protagonist in this case would be Lionel himself, though I haven't fully figured out WHY he's an the haunted house. Probably something Carla related, I'd imagine she's the main villain here
And instead of going by their canon names (or their canon titles, ie the platformer, the fighter, the sorceress, etc.), each of The Hex characters got their own titles. Oh and also none but FPP and Reggie have a connection to Lionel in this au, they're just vengeful spirits who are having their anger used against them
Super Weasel Kid/SWK, who in this au is an actual human kid, is titled The Forgotten, a kid who was once a popular kid in school before quickly losing said popularity. In this au, he basically had a hyperfixation on weasels, hence the association here. Think of Gin from YTTD, it's like that. Anyways, after falli g out of popularity and quickly becoming hated by the rest of the school, a few kids cornered him after school, attacking and killing him. Carla finds his spirit, and lets him stay at the haunted house. Aka an abandoned house she's basically made into a little hangout for herself. SWK would only attack if aggravated, though you can lose him by getting out of his line of sight. Unfortunately, he's pretty quick. He's covered in several wounds like cuts and bruises, though the most prominent one would be a large, bloody bruise on the side of his head from having his head slammed into a wall numerous times, which was the killing blow. You can get through his section without killing him, though you can kill him if you want to. Killing a ghost basically just makes the soul stop existing. Bam, gone.
Second would be The Taken, Bryce. He used to work in a small family restuarant with his grandma, having no known parents or siblings. Well, obviously his grandma knows his parents, but seeing as how they abandoned him, she doesn't care to make a reunion happen. They didn't deserve it. Moving on, Bryce eventually got kidnapped from his home in the middle of the night, waking up blindfolded and bound. Unlike in canon, he gets no formal training before being forced into an underground fighting ring, one that was most certainly illegal. All the fighters had been in a similar situation as him, taken from their homes in the middle of the night. He only ever knew of one that made it out, a woman who made a connection to one of the employees working at the underground ring who got her out in exchange for carrying out his dirty work. Bryce didn't know for a few months what would happen to those the ring deemed unworthy, though got to witness it for himself after winning his first fight. Bhakto, a martial artist monk who came from a long line of fighters, had lost far too many fights to be considered entertaining. The outcome was known at this point, being beaten by a lowly chef. Bryce had to watch as the crowd cheered for the first time for Bhakto, the man being shot in the head. Bryce did his best to try and avoid his fate, but when he eventually met the same ending of no longer being entertaining to watch, he was shot execution style in the back of the head by the ringleader. He went back to the restuarant, watching over his grandma, who had set up a memorial for him, since he was legally pronounced dead after being missing for so long. Carla visited the restuarant one night, saw Bryce, and talked to him when no one was looking. He only attacks if you attack him, only fighting in self defence. It's possible to get through his section without killing him, and it's honestly recommended considering the circumstances. Obviously, he has a gunshot wound in the back of his head, and no other visible injuries.
Next up are The Lovers, Chandrelle and Lazarus. A dead married couple who got killed in their own home. They're always seen in the halls together, very rarely apart, with Lazarus constantly ready to protect Chandrelle like a loyal knight. Chandrelle's kinda the reason they got killed, having been associated with some dangerous people. She and Carla vaguely knew each other through work, since Chandrelle knew one of Carla's coworkers. In the haunted house, Chandrelle attacks on sight due to feeling no remorse or guilt, whereas Lazarus only attacks if Chandrelle is attacked. Even if he himself is attacked, he won't violently fend for himself, just simply blocking the attacks. You have to kill Chandrelle to pass The Lover's section, though Lazarus can't be killed in this section. Because if you're attacking him, then chances are Chandrelle's close enough to attack you, and Lazarus can block attacks. You can't. They're both covered in burn scars. As well, Chandrelle has a gunshot wound in her forehead, and Lazarus has one in the side of his head. A mercy, compared to the flames. Chandrelle's acquaintance, Vallamir, told Carla about the dead married couple, and so they were brought to the haunted house.
Next up, The Wanderer, Rust. Rust, a dead single dad, died trying to protect his son. They got attacked by a group of robbers, and Rust fought back to keep his son safe. Rust ended up getting killed in the process, having no idea what happened to his son, and being found wandering the streets of the city in the middle of the night. Carla let him take refuge in the haunted house, and in his confused, grieving state, he agreed. Wandering the halls of the mansion, floating around in search of his son, he doesn't attack for the first half of his section. He'll simply just be searching. And then *something* changes in him, and he becomes violent on sight, never losing track of you once he finds you. He can attack far range, so distance really only works if you are around a corner or something, logically unable to be shot at. The trigger that sets off his anger is Lionel/the player finding a strange device, turning it on. On it is a map and buttons in accordance to the areas in Rust's section. Pressing a button in one of these locations makes Rocky's voice sound out, which Rust immediately starts trying to follow, and sees you as being the reason Rocky's here and possibly in danger. Hence the constant attacking. He'll only switch his focus away from you when he hears Rocky's voice, leaving you safe until he sees you again. He has several gunshot wounds in his body, none of them having been immediately fatal, but he still didn't last long once shot. You have to stealth your way out of Rust's section, unable to kill him, leaving him to forever search for his son.
Next, Lazarus makes a return, now being titled The Widow. Angry and grieving, he now attacks on sight after Chandrelle gets killed, still maintaining that loyalty. He just looks miserable at this point. He no longer tries to defend himself, though his injuries slowly heal, so you have to kill him in one go. Because doing it slowly over the course of his section won't do anything, the new injuries going away. Same with Chandrelle, killing him is mandatory, and you can't get out without killing him first, finally letting The Lovers rest in peace.
Last of the main 6 would be FPP/???, The Unknown. FPP is completely obscured, only hints of a hat and a trenchcoat being visible. He doesn't float like the others, just walking around his section, searching. How he attacks and how often is constantly changing. Sometimes he'll only fight in self defence. Sometimes he'll attack on sight. Sometimes he'll perfectly track you down. Sometimes he won't. Sometimes he attacks far range. Sometimes he attacks close range. There's no predicting what can happen, strategy being thrown out the window. You just simply have to follow the messages on the walls. Instead of being made directly by Lionel like in canon, FPP is actually made by Carla. Made up of her resentment of Lionel, FPP is basically a copy of Lionel, having no real identity, being only one of three non-ghosts in the mansion. FPP can be dealt with in one of two ways. Killing him isn't an option though, as any damage dealt to FPP is immediately also dealt to Lionel, and vice versa. FPP attacking Lionel in an attempt to kill him is basically a murder-suicide. So, you can either get out by following the messages, or by going through basically a story arc. FPP is the only one you can peacefully deal with, since he's made up of Carla's resentment and anger towards Lionel. Basically, Lionel has to man up and apologize for what he did. The route you take doesn't change the story going forwards, it's just that the forgiveness route gives more depth to Lionel and FPP.
I still need to...actually figure out where Reggie and Jeremiah fit into all this plot wise. I don't wanna make Reggie the exact same person as Barry, so I need to figure out a reason as to why there's a duplicate. Probably something to do with Lou/Satan. We'll see. I'm thinking for their section, it's like. Borderline horror type shit. Like. If they catch up to you, it's an instant death. And also it's dark. And you can't ever see where they are until it's too late, just following dimly lit lamps. Very very creepy. Only way of knowing where they would be would be Jeremiah's scuttering and the creaking of Reggie's wheelchair. If Jeremiah kills you, it's a black screen with a gunshot noise, followed by the gameover screen. Reggie's, however, is a dimly lit look at his face for a couple seconds. And also a minute or two of choking noises in the background when the game over screen pops up. Fun.
Last up for the inhabitants would be Carla herself, The Vengeful/The Clown. Sado doesn't properly exist as a separate person in this au, instead just being Carla's alter ego. A Jekyll and Hyde situation. While creating FPP, Carla had used herself as the test experiment, hence the alter ego. Like in canon, Carla and Lionel's friendship ends after he starts being an egotistical asshole, the two of them having started constantly being at odds. Something huge happens (though i haven't decided what), causing Carla to grow hateful and angry. At some point after this huge, undecided event, she runs into Lou, and ends up getting a proper association with the devil. So that's. Fun for her. Anyways, thanks to all this, she ends up now being able to see spirits, hence why she's able to bring the others to the haunted house. During her fight, Sado goes first. It's basically a huuuuuuge chaotic shit show. Because it's Sado. What the fuck else were we expecting. Anyways, after defeating Sado, the appearance changes go away, now revealing a wounded Carla. She shouts at Lionel a bit, before her fight starts up. Where Sado's was more performative, like you're in some sort of circus performance, Carla's is...not that. It's hand to hand combat, no weapons allowed, and she is VERY easily able to stand her own ground. Losing to her shows a game over screen of Lionel becoming one of the spirits in the haunted house, eternally tormented by those you didn't kill.
When you do beat Carla, blah blah blah more shouting, there's two ways to go about this. One, Lionel talks things out with her, and Carla lets him leave. Two, Carla gets so fucking pissed off with Lionel that she kicks him out. Obviously there's more to it than that, but y'know.
Buuuut yeah! And THAT is what I got so far for the Haunted House au. Holy fucking shit that took a while to type out. I'll post more details (maybe even short fics, we'll see) about the au as I come up with them

1/5 ⭐ Review: On Rape by Germaine Greer
Nick Growth was among the first researchers to observe that the underlying motivations for rape are principally power and anger, sometimes in combination. There are very few rapists for whom the primary motive is sexual. (Michaud & Hazelwood, 2000, p. 79)
Greer commences by presenting a restrictive definition of rape within the purpose of the essay, emphasising the penetration of an unwilling female by a male. It becomes, thus, a stance that excludes broader forms of sexual assault. She vaguely acknowledges other kinds of violence presented in this crime, but her reasoning for exclusively focusing on penile-vaginal penetration is not made clear to me at all. Later in the essay, whilst discussing historical changes within the law (in the 1970s-1980s in developed countries), she explains how rape expanded to include penetration of the mouth and anus, alongside the vagina. Despite describing it within the law, I would've added it is possible by any other corporal means, like hands or tongue, penetration is also possible through objects. Not to mention rape isn’t even exclusive to penetration, let alone women. She is clear about being restrictive, there’s no doubt. Why? Not sure.
“Sexual assault," for Greer, underscores the nuanced nature of these crimes, asserting that violence is not necessarily inherent in all instances. With this comes the notion that rape is more prevalent than most are aware of. Understanding this means examining the psychopathology of daily life, dissecting it as a manifestation of broader societal norms and power dynamics.
Rape is connected to lack of consent and, as such, its role is emphasised in distinguishing rape from other forms of assault. To illustrate the challenges presented in legal contexts, she takes the case of Luke Lazarus and Saxon Mullins. Lazarus was initially convicted and later acquitted.
[Judge] Roby Tupman accepted that while Mullins believed that she wasn’t consenting, Lazarus did believe that she was consenting. (Greer, 2018)
Greer critiques the contemporary discourse on consent, stating how “[t]here is now a presumption that the issue of consent is not problematical”. Hence, to the author, slogans such as “No means no and yes means yes” are oversimplifying it, as sexual interaction is not “signing on a dotted line”. In her perspective, the dynamics of consent involve a range of emotional, psychological, and situational factors that cannot be neatly encapsulated by a binary system of “yes” and “no” (I'll accept nuances, but I didn't fully buy it).
She then raises an important question: what if the victim doesn’t know if it was rape or not? She walks us through the following scenario: Ella ended a relationship with a co-worker who then comes knocking on her door, and eventually forces himself onto Ella. In the end, she complies as to avoid waking up her daughter. Was she raped? Ella doesn’t know and, as such, “[i]f a woman herself does not know whether she is consenting or giving in, a man certainly cannot know. It is quite unfair to allow him the right to decide the issue.”
This is quite a naive statement, considering it overlooks a crucial aspect of human behaviour, particularly in situations of distress. It’s not uncommon for people to concede or comply as a strategy to minimise further harm, which does not in any way shape or form conform to genuine consent - explaining what happened to both Ella and Mullins. Coercion is not an Harry Potter spell. It exists. Her criticism of the conundrum of consent implies her rather as an apologist for women’s rape.
If a man punches you in the eye, you are not expected to have pleaded with him not to for the crime to be accepted as an assault. If you are sitting at your cash register and someone demands the cash in it, you will not be accused of consent if you simply hand it over. Only in the prosecution of rape is resistance an issue. (Greer, 2018)
Juries are acknowledged as fallible human entites influenced by perceptions of the victim’s resistance. Researchers at the University of Nebraska categorised it into five levels: resistance, non-forceful verbal resistance, forceful verbal resistance, physical resistance and fleeing. However, Greer notes the difficulty of these scenarios by aligning with real-life situations in cases of everyday rape. In a Swedish study she mentions, a lot of women explained they experienced “tonic immobility,” which comes to challenge those preconceptions about visible resistance and highlights the psychological and physiological responses of survivors.
The aftermath of sexual assault extends beyond physical injuries, meaning it comes to the psychological trauma, as I’m sure we’re well aware. Narratives surrounding the psychological consequences often amplify the perceived catastrophic nature of rape. Raped women are frequently told they are irreparably damaged, both in body and soul, contributing to a narrative that may hinder their recovery. Additionally, “[g]etting over it becomes a suspect activity in itself.” This is a topic I don’t see being discussed very often, thus, I thought it was relevant for the author to say this. As relevant as proceding to share some stories of rape victims who do what’s called “restorative justice” as an alternative approach. There are potential benefits of women confronting their rapists outside the formal criminal justice system, fostering open communication and understanding. Not every victim prefers this scenario, and it’s also something I don’t see being mentioned often, so I thought it to be important to mention how, for some victims, that’s enough.
Early on, she places rape within the broader context of bad sex. Instead of acknowledging that bad sex happens consensually. Those concepts don’t coexist. In some cases, those where the victim may be unsure of whether it was rape or not, what one could find is that what they initially defined as “bad sex” was, actually, rape. But “bad sex” is not a qualifier of rape. Ever.
I eventually learned two things about Greer when I was conducting some research about her:
She criticised the #MeToo movement, explaining that the women involved were “whingeing,” and then went to borderline defend figures like Woody Allen (Flood, 2018). To Greer, it is important to see immediate reactions from women facing sexual abuse, which is something seen in this essay - she seems to believe in a “model victim”. While discussing the case of Julian Assange, she mentions how two unknown women reported him for rape. Later on, they dropped the charges. Years later, Assange was found guilty of murdering two women, to which she then states “If the women (…) had stuck to their guns these two women might still be alive”. What a nice thing to say, Greer. She clearly enjoys shaming women, as on another situation (Flood, 2018) she suggests that some instances of alleged abuse involving economic power might be considered consensual: “if you spread your legs because he said ‘be nice to me and I’ll give you a job in a movie’ then I’m afraid that’s tantamount to consent, and it’s too late now to start whingeing about that”. Truthfully, how lovely of her.
On a different note, not at all related to rape, I also learned her stance on trans women, where her transphobia is clear (Abeni, 2015). Whilst unrelated to the theme presented here, and the article I found has nearly a decade (although I would bet not much has changed), I can’t shake these off. In a way, it only comes to prove the vibes I felt emanating from her while reading this essay, and how shameful she seemed.
On Rape is a thought-provoking essay. Greer brings up some really important questions. However, I’m unable to overlook the issues with her perspective, as well as the arrogance she exhibited both in her writing and in what I later learned about her. It has come to my attention many feminists believe she should stop calling herself a feminist. I can’t fanthom why…

It was in August 2022 that the U.S. sanctioned Tornado Cash. Within two days, the Dutch police arrested Pertsev in the Netherlands. Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev is going to face trial in the Netherlands in March 2024, reported DL News. He will face the court in the Dutch city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch for his fourth pre-trial hearing on 26-27 March 2024. It was on 8 August 2022 that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the U.S. sanctioned the crypto mixer. The authorities alleged that the crypto mixer facilitated money laundering worth more than $1 billion. On 10 August 2022, the Dutch police arrested Pertsev in the Netherlands. It was the Dutch financial crime authority, the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD), which ordered such a quick arrest of the Russian national. The court put Pertsev under house arrest in April 2023. The court conditionally released him under the stipulation that he remain in the country and wear a GPS monitor. The authorities feared he would turn fugitive. 🕊️ @Free__Alexey IS FREE TO GO HOME 🕊️ Next Wednesday 26th, he can await his trial at home with electronic monitoring. The most important thing is that he can walk around and work on his defense, something that was virtually impossible while detained. — Eléonore Blanc (@blockblanc) April 20, 2023 Prosecutors in the Netherlands are investigating Pertsev on the suspicions of fraud, environmental crime and asset confiscation. They alleged that Pertsev habitually laundered over 500,000 Ethereum [ETH]. He should have suspected the illicit origin of these funds, the prosecutors alleged. Pertsev refuted those charges. The court ruled in May 2023 that Pertsev could cross-question blockchain analytics company Chainalysis in writing about its methods. How is the Tornado Cash case faring in the U.S.? Recently, Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm pleaded not guilty in a U.S. court. He is facing charges similar to those Pertsev is facing in the Netherlands. Storm aided the Lazarus Group, the notorious hacking outfit allegedly sponsored by the North Korean state, in laundering funds, prosecutors claimed. Another accused, Roman Semenov, remains at large. He is another Tornado Cash co-founder. Even as there is opposition to the sanctions against Tornado Cash by free speech proponents, authorities in both the U.S. and the Netherlands are taking legal action against the accused individuals. Crypto exchangers and mixers will be banned?
Quite alarming information is spread on the cryptocurrency market: US regulators are preparing a complete ban on cryptocurrency exchangers and mixers. The first, preparatory phase is now under way: legal proceedings are being brought against the largest crypto exchanges and criminal cases are being opened against their managers.
Tumblr media
Lado Okhotnikov, Head of Meta Force:
"Yes, there are such rumors. True, this is just rumors without any official confirmation, but the total situation may indeed cause concern to the crypto community. There is a coordinated attack on structures that are basic to crypto business..."
Just look at recent events:
In the United States, one of the founders of the crypto mixer "Tornado" was arrested. The second co-founder is wanted and is under American sanctions. Charges are standard for crypto business: money laundering and non-compliance with American sanctions.
Tumblr media
According to American prosecutors, about $1bln was laundered. Including several hundred million USD in cryptocurrencies received from North Korean hacker group Lazarus.
Lazarus is an odious group associated with North Korean intelligence and known for successful hacker attacks that have earned hundreds of millions of dollars. So, if "Tornado" did receive funds from Lazarus, it would be hard to refute the money laundering charges. Another thing is that in many cases the exchanger is not able to determine the origin of the money, this requires a serious investigation.
Recall that currently, there are ongoing trials against crypto exchanges Binance and CoinBase, arrested former head of the FTX Bankruptcy Exchange, problems have arisen among dozens of companies on a smaller scale.
Lado Okhotnikov:
"We live in an age where everything is possible. The level of aggression against everyone is increasing, and it is sad. However, in this particular case, I don’t believe we should expect a total ban on crypto exchangers. The costs will be high and the interests of powerful groups will be at risk. And then, the decision of one country, even one such as the US, will lead to the migration of services to more friendly jurisdictions, However, even if there is no ban, we will see the tightening of the legislation necessarily."
