An Ode to Ina

I actually don't know if I think Ina is a good actress. I watched From the Terrace about 20 years ago when I went through my Paul Newman phase and she was kinda of forgettable, but then, the whole movie was, imho. I definitely feel she got a bum deal landing parts with great costars in films that have fallen to the wayside of our popular culture bin. Remember The Comancheros? Yeah, like From the Terrace, neither do I.

But lately I have been going through a Charro! phase as one does and I find myself memorized by her. She has one of those faces with features that seem oddly large and more pronounced than is normal, which makes her look weird and yet alluring at the same time. She strikes me as a women with similar facial features to Sophia Loren, an actress who she actually starred with in The Black Orchid, another film with amazing costars that yeah, no one ever talks about.....

Anyway, life has been a trainwreck rollercoaster for me the last month but thank god it is the weekend and I finally feel like I can breath. And as I stare at Ina's publicity shots with Elvis and imagine I am her, there, with his scruffy beard rubbing against my chin, and then find myself falling into Google holes searching for an easy history lesson on who she was and what was in her soul, I thought I would share a few of my favorite photos. I don't know enough about her to say this is a comprehensive tribute or even a fair ode to her. Rather this is the beginning of a tribute to her that I thought I should add to the swirling either of tumblr.

I have...a bit to say the least! But here are a few!

The Rhythm of Reflection falls on the 36th Day of New Callus. It's a day of atonement, or to put it more crudely, a reset button. The Titan has blessed them to see another Cycle in their lives and Witches wish to go into the New Year with a clean slate. Some take it seriously and observe the ENTIRE month. Righting wrongs or making efforts to leave the bad energy they've left in the previous year for good ones. During the Rhythm of Reflection it is not odd to see Witches wearing white. Those who wear such a color symbolize that they have a clear mind and sound resolve. Some wear accents of color that let others know they may still struggle and have remaining debts to seek out and resolve. They can come in a different array of patterns or accessories. They can be sashes, belts, jewelry, or even sewed within their chosen white garments.

Blue: Your debt is minor. Perhaps you were rude to a stranger or acquaintance. Or disrespected a tradesman. These bonds are superficial and light as air, let them be blown away by The Titan's breath.

Red: Friends and Family cut much deeper. They can be your lifeblood, a bond that can set you on the path to greatness or utter failure. It may take time for forgiveness to be earned, so it is not strange to see heavy red patterns in a Witch's or Demon's white clothes to grow less and less over the years.

Green: The color of bile, the substance that gives Witch's and Demonkin their magic. A blessing from The Titan. The ones who wear green only feel that their sins can only be forgiven by the very being that decays beneath their feet. Most are solemn and quiet on this day. Only letting silence speak to them. It is an uncommon accent and rare to see these days.

The Long Night falls after the shortest day of the year in Dismember and it will ALWAYS fall on a new moon (also known as a Birth Moon). Essentially its Witch Christmas. Presents are shared and celebrations are at an all time high, the end of another Cycle is almost complete! There is a deeper meaning with this holiday if we look into "Savage" Traditions. It is said that this is the day The Titan fell into his eternal slumber, giving life to the Isles in the process. Some observe this day being surrounded by nature. Staking claim in whichever part of the Titan they wish to reside in for a long 18 hours. The more devout may fast for the entirety of The Long Night, showing respect to what the Titan gave to the world. For it's with his death that brought new life and one should cherish it for all that it gives.

Je n'aime pas le foot, ni les joueurs de foot, ni même les clubs de foot. J'aime le stade, passionnément depuis l'enfance à cause de cet ordonnancement du peuple étagé sur les gradins, de la courbure des virages et des pentes jusqu'à la pelouse. C'est prenant comme de regarder un voilier qui avance grand largue. Le stade est aussi l'un des rares lieux où l'on trouve des gens normaux, des gens du coin, habillés normalement, qui ont une famille ou en veulent une, qui travaillent. C'est déjà beaucoup à notre époque !
