Little Calf: Elk centaur Thranduil x newborn elk calf centaur reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: newborn. While on the way to Rivendell Thranduil and his men in counter a herd of massacred elk centaurs and meets an orphaned newborn female calf and takes her in after instantly falling in love with her. Takes place a few months after the Battle of the Five Armies.
Requested by Kelly6098 (from my old Wattpad account)
King Thranduil and the elk centaurs of Mirkwood galloped to Rivendell to discuss the new reliance and weapon trading. While galloping he was clearing his head from how lonely he was in Mirkwood since his son Legolas galloped off to find a horse centaur named strider and his foster daughter Tauriel is now living in Erebor courting the faun prince Kili after the battle but he apologized when he accepted that his son wasn't coming home and accepted that Tauriel loved Kili but he couldn't accept the loneliness he felt in Mirkwood.
As he thinks of all that's happened he is snapped out of his thoughts by one of his men Saying "My lord. There was a battle here." He said pointing to what appears to be a battle field of dead elk centaurs and orcs, by the Valar it was brutal looking body parts and cut off antlers littered the earth and there were no survivors, that is to the eyes of men "separate the bodies! Bury the elk centaurs so that they may rest but burn the orcs." Thranduil said walking around the bodies until he heard a small cry and saw a small leg kicking in the air "What in the Greenwood?" He said to himself walking over to the little survivor. Thranduil is meet with a dead cow being held by a bull probably her husband and in between them was a tiny but alive newborn calf with H/C hair and E/C colored eyes still attached to her mother, getting to his knees he gently takes the baby into his arms then one of his daggers and slices the cord from her belly button while calling two of his men to retrieve her parent's bodies.
After you are separated from your mother Thranduil gently shushes you in Sindarin making you calm down "My lord where did that child come from?" One of Thranduil's men asked looking at you in curiosity "She is the only survivor of her herd!" He said holding you in a comfortable position carful of your head. Upon your new position you snuggled into Thranduil's chest, your tiny hands curled into fists resting on his chest as you cooed making Thranduil smile as he saw Legolas within you making him feel protective of you "I will be your new father." He said keeping you close.
At Rivendell:
Thranduil is standing in front of his long time friend Lord Elrond telling him of what happened to your heard and parents and that he is adopting you "The poor thing! Barley began her life and lost so much in one day." He said placing a hand on your head making you coo at him and grab his finger but the sound of his twin sons Elladan and Elrohir bursting into the room talking ontop of each other and pointing at one another, the bickering made you fussy "BOYS." Elrond yelled making the twins flinch "I don't care who started what, but what ever happened solve it on your own like grown bulls." He said annoyedly "We have guest today." He said gesturing to Thranduil and you making the twins faces light up upon seeing you "Awwww. She's so cute." Elladan squealed at you while Elrohir nodded in agreement "Can we hold her?" They asked together "I suppose but be careful." Thranduil said placing you in Elrohir's arms who is basically fawning over you "Hello little one, what is your name?" He asked while his brother is cooing at you "Y/N! That is her name." Thranduil said thinking long and hard on what to name you the moment he held you.
Later at Mirkwood:
It's been 7 months since Thranduil had adopted you as his new daughter and you filled Mirkwood with laughter and melted his frozen heart.
Thranduil was coming out of a meeting with king Bard of Dale and King Thorin of Erebor while you stayed with your nanny who is helping you to walk.
She is holding your hand while you moved your legs and together both of you took steps, when you got the hang of it you toddled over to Thranduil who is on his knees with his arms outstretched and a smile on his face.
When you reached him he happily tosses you in the air "You did it little calf." He said tickling your tummy making you squeal of laughter "Dada." You squealed out making him sniff from tears of joy that you took your first steps and said your first word in one day "That's my little calf." He said touching his forehead on yours while Bard and Thorin smile fondly at the sweet sight before them "She has a bright future ahead of her." Thorin said while Bard nodded in agreement as Thranduil tossed you up and down as you continued to squeal from laughter.

OKAY. 1977 RANKIN-BASS VERSION OF THE HOBBIT COMPLETED. Overall I liked this one more than I expected, considering that I did not like their ROTK. It still had a few moments of what seemed like fairly insensitive departures from the text but not nearly to the same extent the ROTK one did.
First off, some things I liked:
They managed to keep in like... a huge amount of the original songs. It was quite impressive for something that was only an hour and 18 minutes. Some of these were barely mentioned, but they kept in the tra la la lally, which is of course, utterly critical. elves MUST be at least a little bit unhinged or there’s no point.
Also, down down to goblin town is a whole bunch of fun. Between this and “where there’s a whip there’s a way” I’m thinking we MUST keep the orcs alive because they’re the only ones who have good songs. And also, this thing has goblins and orcs be the same thing, unlike iirc the Jackson movies which kind of make them separate beings, which is wrong.
On the subject of appearances, the dwarves looked pretty great, they actually looked book accurate instead of. well. what the jackson movies did with thorin and kili in particular.
where is the bagginshield fanart where bilbo and thorin look like THIS
Tumblr media
come on. there’s got to be at least one, right.
PLUS they actually barely cut out anything for a movie that is, again, one hour and 18 minutes long. This means some scenes were shortened. Beorn got cut out completely, unfortunately. But I think that’s understandable, given that if you don’t have him show up in the battle of five armies he’s one of the more expendable ones.
I think the biggest loss from the shortened time is that a lot of the scenes kind of ended up... losing their cleverness? If that makes sense? Like in the troll confrontation, they turn to stone because Gandalf somehow manages to bring the morning early, not because he makes them argue with each other by imitating their voices until the sun comes up. In addition, Bilbo doesn’t really taunt the spiders to draw them away. I’m assuming these are products of them wanting to keep the scenes in but shortening them, which is a shame.
The biggest departure that bothered me is that they cut out Bilbo’s moment where he considers killing Gollum but then pities him and decides not to, because that is pretty significant to the overall Themes and is also very plot-relevant for LOTR in general.
Oh and of course the Arkenstone and all the stuff related to that was cut out. Instead the conflict is Bilbo not wanting to fight when there’s 13 dwarves against an army, and Thorin calls him a coward who knows nothing of war, and Bilbo says THEY’RE all cowards because he’s the one who did all the stuff like fighting spiders and confronting Smaug and all that. which was a little weird honestly.
Fairly minor exclusions: they cut out one of my favorite exchanges which is Bilbo talking to a complaining Thorin like “WELL ARE YOU ALIVE? OR ARE YOU DEAD?” after the barrel scene, but this is replaced by Bilbo making a quip about how being a burglar didn’t mean he had to provide them with first-class accommodations, so it stands.
They also cut out the humor of the “we’re starving” exchange which is unfortunate because Thranduil LOOKS like he’s starving.
Tumblr media
man. there’s so much here. going to mentally juxtapose this over thranduil when I’m watching the jackson hobbit movies. like honestly to me it’s funny how many people are convinced the elves are supposed to be ethereal and beautiful yet the only adaptation that’s really tried that is jackson’s. and sometimes you have shit like this.
also in line with my point of the bagginshield fanart where they look like in this movie, I want the kili/tauriel fanart but tauriel looks like one of the wood elves here:
Tumblr media
and of course kili looks like kili in this adaptation or his book-accurate self. someone has to have done this.
There was a thing here implying the reason the dwarves get locked up in Mirkwood is because they’re greedy and didn’t want to share the treasure with the dwarves, which was a bit weird, but we’ll get to that later.
... miscellaneous point I can’t fit anywhere else. goblins and spiders get killed and they just kind of spin into nothingness. particularly the death of the great goblin was weird. Although it did sufficiently hype up Glamdring which is great! Overall a thing I noticed about these Rankin-Bass ones in particular is that it takes particular effort to dodge any of the previous lore, like Elrond mentioning Glamdring was wielded by his kin and is from Gondolin, they just say “these were forged for the goblin wars”. which I get for not wanting to confuse the audience but, still.
Smaug has spotlight eyes that put the jackson movies’ sauron to shame. he also looks a bit like a kitty cat
Tumblr media
and of course I would be remiss to not mention that bard and the lakedown men have bare legs like in the bakshi adaptation. why do men dress like this
Tumblr media
Hm anyway. Throughout this part Gandalf makes Bilbo record a log of his adventures so that Gandalf can “judge his mistakes”, which is so rude and honestly kind of fits Gandalf despite it just being an excuse for Bilbo to narrate things throughout that part.
Okay. They generally go through the gold-sickness by making the dwarves behave irrationally, like hanging out in the treasure room waiting for Smaug. But it also has some other strange stuff like Balin saying “O Great King under the mountain!” and Bilbo going “Balin, it’s only Thorin.” like yeah it is. but he also Is the King Under The Mountain. That’s A Significant Point.
What’s funny about it though is that for the battle of five armies (which has bilbo go “it’s a battle of three armies...” [orcs appear] “it’s a battle of FOUR armies...” [eagles appear] “A BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES... IT’S TOO MUCH...”) as soon as the orcs come out Thorin reconciles with Thranduil and Bard which is an exchange like:
Thorin: O GREAT ELF KING MY TRUEST FRIEND AND ALLY
Thranduil: OF COURSE KING UNDER THE MOUNTAIN. YOUR PEOPLE ARE LIKE BROTHERS UNTO MINE.
which is just very much not true at all. but whatever. I get what they’re going for but it seems they’re going WAY too far. you could do a “let’s set aside our differences to fight our common enemy, the orcs” without acting like they were ever besties.
Bilbo also has a line here like “Thorin is correct... I simply do not understand [what? why? could not make out this word]” and whatever that last word is it’s still funny. he’s so mean to thorin. book-accurate. thorin’s death exchange includes:
Thorin: Does it take this for us to see each other... You are no coward, my friend... I am sorry I so named you...
Bilbo: this isn’t important
But overall it stayed true to the death scene which was good and decently emotional.
What is strange though is that only six of the company survive. I’m not sure if this is including Gandalf. And they don’t tell us who lived! We know Thorin and Bombur die, I’m assuming Fili and Kili do as well, and there were two dwarves at the end but honestly I did not take notes on who was who so I can’t be sure who they were.
And the ending is pretty close to the book as well, though Balin doesn’t visit because he may or may not be dead, it’s just the exchange between Gandalf and Bilbo. But it does have a hook into LOTR, though it’s Gandalf talking about how the Ring is important and one of Bilbo’s family members will be affected by it, which is far more than he should know at this point, but I’ll let it slide.
Overall I did like this one much more than I was expecting. I think it really helped them that they could adapt the whole hobbit and not just the last third of lotr. I of course have minor issues, buuut I think I’m going to like this more than the jackson hobbit movies, though I. tragically. must revisit them. god that’s going to take so long.
anyways that’s that. thank you for bearing with me yet again on these adaptation adventures. see you maybe later this week for jackson hobbit movies.............. ugh.

Chapter Twelve
Word count: 1846
It’s another “main character shows up in Mirkwood and has to figure out how to survive”, but this time with my OC Aurelia Castillo and she freaks out first. Have fun laughing at her!
A/N: the bolded text is a different language, text in italics are thoughts
¡Warnings!: canon typical injuries, death, dead people, awkward explanations of modern dating if that counts, crying, let me know if I should add any more
Tumblr media
After the Battle, Aurelia laughed at herself for being so worried. Everything happened exactly as it was supposed to, as if she weren’t even there. She did do her best to remain unnoticed, especially by the elves, so the only times she intervened directly was to save the lives of Thorin and his nephews. She was very glad, for it allowed Kili to show Tauriel that he really did love her, which Thranduil and Thorin didn’t seem to mind. Legolas left, leaving the rest of his kin, the dwarves, and the humans to concern themselves with the aftermath.
Because she saved the life of the king, Aurelia was treated like royalty by the dwarves and was kept under medical care in Dale. The healers had a hard go of it trying to keep her away from the battlefield the first day or two, though. Having suffered three grievous wounds in such short succession, her healing factor wasn’t as quick as it normally was, but she was still determined to get out there and heal as many as she could. Tauriel, Emlithor, and Lúthon were there to distract her, fussing over her like she did them. Thorin, Fíli, and Kili came by her sickbed a few times to thank her and check up on her, but more often than not Fíli and Kili came alone. Kili talked to Tauriel and followed her around like a puppy dog, while Fíli sat with Aurelia and simply talked to her.
“What is it like where you came from?” Fíli asked her on the fourth day, when she was just starting to be allowed to walk around.
She leaned on him heavily as they went down some stairs. “Um, easier in general I think.”
“Easier how?”
“It’s easier to do everything where I come from. Easier to get and make food, easier to find a bed, easier to—”
She stopped abruptly as they came across a body no one had noticed and moved. She knelt down and brushed her fingertips across the man’s forehead, sighing when she realized he was dead.
“Easier to kill and easier to save,” Aurelia continued quietly. She shivered, trying to shake the feeling of death.
“As if it’s not already so easy to kill each other,” Fíli mumbled as they passed the body.
“That’s what’s wrong with humans. I think I told you, where I come from, there are no dwarves or elves or hobbits. Just humans, in all shapes and sizes, and some humans hate each other more than others.”
Aurelia rambled on, somehow getting onto the topic of World War II, before Bain and his sisters appeared.
“Aurelia!” he called.
Aurelia grinned at them. “Bain! Hello, Sigrid, Tilda.”
“It’s good to see you up and moving, Lia,” Sigrid said cheerfully.
“Yes, I’m finally allowed out of bed,” Aurelia laughed.
They all kept walking, wandering further towards the elves’ camp. Aurelia stopped every time they came across a body, but each time it was too late. Whenever she crouched down, the others exchanged worried glances over her head. Aurelia knew her own powers better than anyone, but to them it seemed like she was pushing it. Fíli in particular had noticed that it seemed like she had given up all thought for herself, and only seemed worried about healing as many people as she could. Aurelia could feel their worry, but did not know exactly where it stemmed from. Afraid they thought she was still injured, she changed the subject.
“So, Fíli, are we to expect a wedding in the near future?” she asked the dwarf teasingly.
“A-a wedding?”
“Yes, between your brother and Tauriel. I personally think they make the cutest couple.”
“Oh. Well, last I heard, they were still in the first stages of courtship.”
Aurelia wrinkled her nose. “Oh, that’s right.”
“What? Have you never been courted?” Bain asked.
“Well, I’ve had boyfriends in the past,” Aurelia said. “I’m pretty sure we don’t do courting where I come from like any of you do, though.”
“What do you mean?” Fíli asked.
“Boyfriends, as in multiple courtiers?” Sigrid said.
“Yes, Sigrid, multiple courtiers. And, I don’t really know the ‘courting customs’ here, but I’m going to take a wild guess and say there are a lot more rules.”
“Are you saying your courting customs have less rules?”
“I’m saying we have almost no rules, and the rules we do have are to protect minors, children, from pedophiles. But anyway, what do Tauriel and Kili have to do before they get married?”
“What are courting customs where you come from, Lia?” Sigrid asked, accidentally cutting Fíli off.
“Well, my first boyfriend asked me out by throwing a paper airplane at me that had a little note written on it during class, and the second one…. Hm, you know, now that I think about it, my ex-boyfriends are not good examples of how to court a woman where I come from. The most common way is to bring whoever you want to ask out… court… a gift like flowers, or chocolates, or a dog—“
“A dog?”
“Yeah, if you want to get really creative. It really depends on who you’re asking. Because there’s no set rules, it’s easier to tailor the way you ask someone for a date or a relationship to the person you want to date or be in a relationship with. For example, I have a friend who loves chicken nuggets—it’s a type of food—so one guy, when he asked her out, he gave her a bouquet made of this food.” Aurelia laughed at that memory, then her smile dropped.
They started to angle off to one side when they came within sight of the elves’ camp, giving it a wide berth. Aurelia wasn’t scared of them, but Fíli still wasn’t fond of elves in general and Bain and his sisters weren’t too sure about them either. Soldiers riding towards Dale caught Aurelia’s attention.
“What are they doing?” Aurelia murmured.
Fíli looked over and studied the scene for a moment.
“Looks like someone they don’t like came too close to their camp,” he said.
Aurelia frowned as she watched them create a circle around something. A raven crowed above them, and she heard the elves shouting. A gust of wind blew her hair back and carried their words to her. They were speaking in Elvish, but there was at least one word she understood.
“—girl!”
It’s a girl!
“It’s a girl?” Aurelia echoed, confused.
The raven crowed again, and Aurelia caught a glimpse of the girl as one of the elves hauled her onto his horse. She had long, dark hair and pale skin, and a suspicion started forming in Aurelia’s mind. Aurelia let out a shout when the unconscious girl’s head lolled to the side, giving them a clear view of her face. Fíli, Bain, and the others were too startled by her scream to stop her before she ran off, toward the elves.
“Ingram!” Aurelia called, tears in her eyes.
The elves, who had started to march back to their camp, slowed and turned. They saw another human girl running full-speed towards them, a dwarf and three other human children following her. Some of them readied their weapons instinctively, but their leader, the one who had the girl on his horse, put out a hand to stop them. When he turned towards her, Aurelia recognized him as Lúthon.
“Lúthon!” Aurelia called. “She’s my friend! Mellon!”
Lúthon looked in surprise at her, not missing how the girl in front of him stirred. Neither did Aurelia.
“Ingram!” she called again.
“Lia?” Ingram said groggily.
Ingram leaned against Lúthon, then jerked away as she realized where she was. She caught sight of Aurelia running towards her, and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Oh, gods, Lia!”
Ingram jumped off the horse, the raven diving and distracting Lúthon before he could stop her. The elves, Fíli, Bain and his sisters all watched in confusion as Aurelia and the other girl ran full tilt towards each other. Just as it looked like they were about to crash into each other, they stopped and took each others’ hands. They all saw their lips moving, as if they were talking to each other, but only the elves could hear them. Lúthon realized that they were talking in Aurelia’s first language. When Fíli and the others had almost caught up to Aurelia, she embraced the other girl and started crying. Ingram stroked Aurelia’s back and hair gently, whispering soothingly to her. When she looked over at Fíli, he realized there were tears in her eyes too.
“Lia, you know this girl?” Lúthon demanded.
“Y-yes,” Aurelia said. “She’s my friend from home. Ingram, ¿cómo estás aquí? I thought I’d never see you again!”
“I just followed the remnants of the portal someone opened to bring you here,” Ingram said. “Who did this to you? Tell me and I’ll send them to Hell.”
“I was hoping you could tell me that,” Aurelia said. “I’ve been stuck here for months trying to figure out what could have happened.”
“Months?” Ingram echoed, her eyebrows furrowing. “Lia, you’ve only been missing for three days.”
Aurelia was shocked, and there was silence as she took in that fact.
“You… I… What?” Aurelia stammered.
Time must move differently in this dimension, Munin said.
Aurelia turned to the raven and gasped. So it is a different dimension!
The raven nodded.
“Excuse me, but is that raven nodding?” Bain said.
His interjection drew Ingram’s attention to the others surrounding them. Her jaw dropped as she recognized them. She shook Aurelia’s shoulder.
“Lia, are we in—“
“Sh, yes, it’s exactly what you’re thinking. I just hope you left that portal open.”
“Well, it’s complicated.”
“Aurelia,” Lúthon said. “I must take her to see the king.”
“What? Why?”
“She appeared within the borders of our camp,” Lúthon explained. “The king will have questions for her.”
“They will be the same questions he asked me and her answers will be the same,” Aurelia said. “Actually, she’ll probably have more answers.”
“I am sure my king will have questions as well,” Fíli said.
“As will my father,” Sigrid added quietly.
“Great! And we have questions for a certain wizard who traipses through the land doing whatever the hell he wants!” Aurelia exclaimed. “We should get them all in one room, and questions and answers can be asked and given once and for all. How does that sound?”
“That’s not a bad idea,” Fíli said finally.
“I would have to speak with my king,” Lúthon said.
Sigrid nodded, sympathizing with Aurelia’s frustration.
“Great.” Aurelia clapped her hands together. “If anyone needs us, we’ll be in that outpost tower thingy where I saved your life, Fíli. That’s neutral enough ground, right?”
“Oh gods, Lia, you didn’t,” Ingram said as Aurelia led her away.
“I did. But look, everything’s fine,” Aurelia responded.
Fíli looked at the elves cautiously. Lúthon led his comrades back towards their camp, and Fíli escorted Bain and his sisters back to Dale before continuing on to give his uncle the news.

Ghosts of past - platonic!Tauriel x reader x Kili - Day 7/13
Ghosts of the past
Pairing:  platonic!Tauriel x reader x Kili
Warnings/triggers: mentions of death, broken heart, feels
Genre: angst
Word: Ghost – Day 7
Word count: 2685
A/N: I came up with this idea after I’ve red this oneshot – Scouting Party (by @dumbassunderthemountain) , where was Tauriel x reader, though that was fluff and this is angst.
I wasn’t really sure if I should write it down, because she’s not one of my most favourite characters in The Hobbit, I’ve never wrote anything similar before (and I’m straight, so I was not sure if I would capture it right), though at some point it felt like I should write it down. I took my own experiences of those feelings when I was broken-hearted over one guy, so I hope I didn’t messed up.
My friend, that I consider as my good friend, is lesbian, so if she would be interested in TH, this fandom and would be reading a fanfics in English (and had a Tumblr), I’d dedicated it to her, though this is pure angst and fun fluff would fit much more to her.
Also, I almost cried during writing, sometimes I had to stop to not to cry, so...yeah.

She didn’t knew how long she’s been sitting here. It was dark and cold there, yet she couldn’t get up. She was crying, tears streaming down her face. It was the night of Feast of Starlight, yet she could not celebrate.
She looked over those two graves and a sting pierced through her heart.
It was you and your husband, Kili. Both of you lived untill your very last days.
Tauriel sat quietly here, wishing she could stop that pain in her chest. Her hand runned over the runes on your grave. She knew you almost your whole life, and never thought it would end up this way. That she wouldn’t sit next to your grave, crying and praying for the pain in her chest, in her heart, to stop.
She quietly sobbed and remembered the day when her and Legolas found you in the forest. Her mind flashed back to that day, decades ago.
They were on a scouting mission to kill some spiders. It would have been like any other day on a mission, really. But then she noticed a small child, just a bit older than a toddler, sitting on the ground, crying.
She was protecting you from all the spiders that came too close to you. When they were all dead, she turned towards you. You were looking at her, scared, your eyes and cheeks red.
Don’t kill me, please,“ you almost begged. She carefully spoke.
„I won’t hurt you, little one. What’s your name?“ She asked you. You shot her a glare, full of untrust, and didn’t spoken a word.
„Tauriel, what-“ Legolas noticed you sitting on the ground. You looked at him and quickly got up.
„N-no,“ You whispered and tried to run away, when he gently catched your hand. You turned to him.
„We can’t leave her here,“ Tauriel stated. Legolas nodded.
„We won’t hurt you, little one.“ She said kindly and you frowned at her. She noticed your ears. They were human, but now, when she looked closely, she could see they weren’t as large as human ears would be.
They somehow got you to the palace. You probably realized you couldn’t run away from them. When she tried to ask you about it later, you didn’t remembered that moment. You were too young then.
„Ada,“ Legolas told the king. Thranduil turned to him.
„We found this child in the forest.“ He said and Tauriel nudged you a bit to take a few steps forward. You were hidden behind her, finding her probably the best option to hid to, from what you had.
Thranduil looked down at you, his eyes slightly widening. You’ve had the same eye colour, the same hair colour and length, facial features like Legolas‘ mother had. He looked over to your ears, noticing their shape.
That night, you’ve stayed. The next day, you explained to them that you and your parents were trespassing Mirkwood to Dale. Your father had some elvish blood, his great-grandfather married a half-elven woman from Rivendell, and your mother was a human. Lately, your family had a problems, though you didn’t knew what type of problems that was, perhaps it was because you weren’t full human and many people were talking about it in the village that you lived in previously.
You’ve lost your path, and your parents, though they were skilled warriors, were outnumbered against the spiders, and they sended you to run away in a hope you’d find a way out. They told you to not trust anything in that forest, so that was why you were acting the way you did towards Legolas and Tauriel when they found you.
Thranduil adopted you, but Tauriel was secretly very happy she could spend time with you. Once you got to used to it all and when the pain of death of your parents got a bit dull after few years, you were all laugh and giggles. If she could, she spended hours with you, reading you, teaching you to shoot arrows since you were able to, and trained with you, once you were old enough.
It wasn’t until you were a young adult, when she realized her feelings weren’t in a sibling or friendly way. No, she developed a crush on you.
It was once when you admited her you’ve got a crush. It was a crush on Legolas, the Mirkwood prince. You told her everything, thinking of her as your best friend you could tell anything.
When she found out Legolas had a crush on her, when he admited it to her, she was confused. Later she found you broken, lying down on the floor of your room, crying and sobbing. You looked up at her, your eyes red, cheeks wet from tears, you hair tangled and messy. She realized you overheard their converstaion.
„Why?“ You asked her and broke down again.
„Why doesn’t he loves me? What’s wrong with me?“ You sobbed again, trying to find an answer in her face, full of confusion, concern and surprise. She sat down to you and patted your back, carefully. Your personality was different from an elf. At that point, you were fully human.
„It’s because I’m not a full elf?“ You whispered and started crying again. She hesitated for a moment, but she decided to hug you, so now you were sobbing into her guard uniform. She patted your hair.
„It’s not your fault. If something, he’s not good enough for you,“ she said in firm voice, meaning every word. Your sobbs stopped for a while.
„B-but I love him, Tauriel. I love him...why does love have to hurt so much?“ A cry escaped your mouth, and she felt a sting going through her heart. She was combing her fingers through your hair, fixing the knots in them.
„I...I don’t know,“ she admited.
Then, a few years later, you didn’t had a crush on Legolas anymore. You realized you could never be together – he seemed to be becoming more and more like his father. And at that time, the dwarves appeared. Her heart filled with jealousy, when she noticed the looks you and the dark-haired dwarf were changing. She placed her palm on your shoulder, then.
„Don’t go to the dungeons. Stay away from there, so you are safe,“ she hissed into your ear, being a completely different person than she usually was. You thought she maybe thought they were too dangerous. Despise you being an adult, you looked at the world in more naive way, than most elves.
Later that night, she was hiding near, while feeling her heart to be torn into pieces. You and that dwarf, Kili, were talking, and she realized you and him were meant to be. Two souls, that met and couldn’t stay away from one another anymore.
She knew you helped them to escape. She knew you got shot by that poisoned arrow. She just knew that, and also that nothing could stop you from saving him. You were too stubborn for that. She knew you’d do it again, again and again.
So she runned after you, to heal you. But before that, him, Kili, told her you told him you’ve loved him. She’ve seen no lie in his eyes, only fear and worry for you.
When she healed you, she cupped your cheek in her palm. Your face fitted there so perfectly, and yet you were destinated to Kili. In that moment, you whispered.
„You will always run after me and take care of me, whether I am a toddler, or an adult, won’t you, sister?“ Then, you fell asleep. She froze and stood there, stunned.
Sister.
That was everything she ever was to you, and will be. She will always be sister and best friend for you.
When the Erebor was reclaimed, you talked with Thorin, and he let Tauriel to be your personal guard, because she was your sister, and a great warrior you wouldn’t mind to be following you the whole day.
Yours and Kili’s wedding was beautiful, she had to admit that. The dwarves weren’t very fond of her, as expected, but when she knew you were happy, it was all worth it.
A few months after the wedding, you weren’t feeling your best, and you even fainted in one hall. She quickly catched you and took you to the healer. It was the day when you found out you were pregnant, two weeks so far, and she congratulated to you.
A months later, when your belly began to grow, it was harder for you to go up or down the stairs. She was always there to help you out. Like a sister. Like a friend. A best friend.
You and Kili had four children – the older one was a girl, then two boys – twins, and another daughter.
Your oldest daughter was nice to Tauriel, but she often spended her time rather on training yard, wanting to be as good as her grand-uncle Thorin.
Your two boys liked her a bit more, though they were rather spending time by pulling pranks and jokes. Let’s just say, their grandmother wasn’t too surprised.
You youngest daugher was usually siting somewhere with a book. She reminded Tauriel of you, when you were a child. She would also listen to ‚Auntie Tauriel‘ almost all the time, about life in Mirkwood and all of that. She loved stories of any kind.
When one of your sons was about to marry, Tauriel noticed the wrinkles in your face. They weren’t really too deep, but they were there. She realized what happened.
You were aging. You and your husband, your children, everyone. You weren’t immortal like she was, she realized. One day, you will have to go, and she won’t have any other choice than to accept that.
Later in the evening, when everyone went to sleep, she started quietly crying in her chambers. She didn’t even looked like she aged, and yet the passing time was clear on everybody else in Erebor and Dale. She felt guilty for it, though she knew it was not hers or anybody’s else’s choice.
She looked over Kili’s grave, being illuminated by moonlight. She talked to him a few days before the wedding, basically growling at him, that if he fucks up and she finds out you’re unhappy with him, she will personally make sure he will regret. He was a bit like puppy, and assured her, that he won’t harm you in any way.
Tauriel softly smiled through the tears. He held his word, your marriage and love was incredibly passionate, happy, never fading, you were clearly made for each other. On your wedding day, when he was helping you to prepare, she couldn’t help, but trew you a glance every now and then. You looked amazing, everyone had to admit that.
A princess for a prince.
She looked back to your grave. She whispered.
„You were happy, weren’t you? So, so happy. I was happy for you, though.“
She remembered that moment she couldn’t help and told you everything. She couldn’t bear it anymore.
It was a late evening, Kili was at one another meeting that him and Fili had to attend. You sighed and shook your head, being tired. It was the day you found out you were pregnant with your first child.
„It’s a bit strange, when we’re not around much. We’re wedded, and we don’t see each other as much as when we were courting.“ Tauriel took a deep breath. You noticed how tense she suddenly became.
„What’s happening, Tauriel? You know you can tell me, we’re sisters and you’re my best friend.“ You said. She sighed.
„That’s all we will ever be, right?“ She suddenly asked. You turned to her, confusion writen all over your face.
„Tauriel-“
„It’s because I love you,“ she whispered, holding back tears. You furrowed your brows in curiousity and confusion. Oh, how she loved that expression of yours.
„I love you too, we’re sisters and-“ You started, confused, but she shook her head.
„No, that’s not it, I...I think I love you in a way you love someone...outside of the family,“ she barely whispered. You stood up, stunned, your hand on your mouth.
„Oh, Tauriel, I-I didn’t knew that you...felt this way about me,“ You whispered. She shook her head.
„I’m happy for you and Kili, though. You are going to have a baby, how couldn’t I be happy for you? You are going to be perfect parents.“ She said. You looked at her with worry. You could see the world in more naive way, but she couldn’t fool you.
„Why didn’t you told me earlier?“ You asked her with sad eyes, feeling bad because you didn’t noticed.
„How long do you-“
„I realized when you broke down, when you found out Legolas has a crush on me,“ She said and you both chuckled a bit.
„Well, I don’t have a crush on him for a while.“ Then your face turned serious, again.
„Tauriel, I-“
„Would you listen to me for a second? Would you-would you hate me, if you would knew?“  She more than stated just asked, anxious about your reaction.
„I’m not going to tell you I’m shocked, I’ve always took you as my family, as you know,“ You started carefully.
„I don’t remember my parents too much, and you’ve always been like a big sister and best friend to me. It’s-I don’t hate you. I’m, well, surprised, a bit shocked, perhaps. I-I need to just think about it.“ You said. She nodded.
„Of course,“ She mumbled and left you alone.
What she didn’t knew, was that Kili found you, looking downhearted and confused, and refused to give up on making you to smile, until you’d told him what was going on. You were lying in your bed on your side, your leg over his waist and you were in his arms, telling him that you know you shoud not be guilty, but you could not help, because you didn’t noticed earlier and found out today, after years. He was patting your hair, gently, telling you that Tauriel told you herself when she was ready, and that she surely wanted you to be happy, and not feeling guilty of something you didn’t even knew about.
You accepted that, though. You felt like there were no secrets between you anymore, and you and Kili kept it to yourselves, just to make sure she will stay. And she did.
She was still like a sister to you, and after a few years, she admitted you she was taking you as a best friend and sister, too, but still way too dear to lose.
Or did she pushed all those feelings deep down and let herself to be much more happy, that you and Kili had children, and ignore what she felt?
She didn’t knew. She wasn’t sure.
She looked at your grave, again.
„I hope you’re happy where you are,“ She whispered to your grave, her voice being the only sound in that empty space. She knew that this was a part of her life that will stay with her until she dies.
With all of those ghosts of the past, she will live. She will have to live.
And even if it was well-lived and happy chapter...
It will still hurt.
Even more than when she lost her parents, and when her heart broke, and yet, she was happy for you.
She looked up, her sight was blurry through the tears, moonlinght illuminating her face and yours and Kili’s grave.
„I hope you both are in the best place.“ She whispered and started sobbing once again, when a cold hand patted her shoulder.
„I will see you once, again, sister,“ A voice whispered, which she couldn’t hear. A voice of woman, who found her piece, but came to visit her sister, on the day when she passed away. If she would look up, she’d noticed soft light and her, Y/N, looking the same, just like the day she took an arrow for her soulmate, when her sister saved her life for the second time.

I see stars
summary:
Imagine getting drunk at the feast of starlight , and becoming over happy,and dancing like the complete opposite to what elves are used to. Leasts just say Thranduil is more than impressed.
translations:
rukhs shirumund caragu=beardless orc dung
warnings:two boners
wordcount:2356
After the dwarves and you were taken prisoner,Thranduil had kept you with him once he sent Thorin to the cells for refusing his offer. Before he was even able to begin to talk to you the dwarves had escaped,theu had left a note which the guards handed to Thranduil ,who read it before passing it to you. His face was unreadable you didnt know what to expect,as the scrap paper was upon your hands. The rushed note had read:
"Our friend from strange lands,
your journey ends here, come vist us in erebor once it IS safe,not now,we  cannot afford to lose anymore family.
much love,
ps Thorin says if you get the chance near that rukhs shirumund caragu lowers,bite it off."
Your face lit up with embarrassment,knowing Thranduil had known what Thorin was implying for you to do,it was a good idea,but hiding a knife in your vagina and then chopping it off with that. That seemed like a better idea,what if you had his coxk in your mouth,and you bite it off and then you choke to death on it,it happened to dean winchester just with a sausage. You looked up to the king ,you was watching you intensely. "Thank you." you had spoke quietly,folding the note placing it in your front pocket of your jeans.
Yes you were still wearing your clothes from home,you had cleaned them last at a stream,but when you had first joined the company ,they had given you spar tunics , blankets and such. You had known them since you fell froma portal ,four feet from the ground infront of the company. They had grew to think very fondely of you ,and protected you from all danger.Now you felt very insecure with out them around ,especially when this king seemed very scary.
"what for?" Thranduil had questioned you circling ,your body ,you had crossed your arms and faced the floor. "for allowing me to have that note from my friends." he had stopped circling to look at you ,he liked you not like that at least not yet,you were being held captive yet you were treating him with kindness.
He hadnt kept you in a cell,infact he given you a room,it was locked at night and such incase you tried to kill him. In a few days you had warmed up to the king,but now erebor was reclaimed and he qould be going to reclaim his jems. You had practially begged him to take you with,so you could see your friends. He didnt like the idea,but then you started crying,you enjoyed the kings comapny when you would eat with him and such ,but you couldnt not go especially if you could prevent somes death. In the end he had agreed and sat you infront of him on his elk,you were excited to see your friends ,you just hoped Thranduil wouldnt kill them. You had been shy with Thranduil at first ,but you soon found out he was very nice,and you came out of your shell.
That led you to be literally bouncing on the elk once you had arrived infront of erebor  ,with Thranduil having to have his arm around your waist,which led you to be very close to each other.  He had to tell you to stop,as nice as he could,you hadnt realised you had caused the king a little problem.Which luckily his outfit hid,he didnt tell you that was why,he had just stated someobe might aim for him and then hit you with an arrow. Bouncing looked like yeah.  You had spotted Thorin whos gaze lingled on you ,he thought Thranduil was using you so they wouldnt try kill him.
However you smiled widely up at Thorin. " Thorin! Your crown looks very lovely on you!" you had shouted up at the king ,who sffered from dragon sickness,his mouth twitched slightly before turning back into a frown. "You are fooling around with an elf?and an elf thats him?" he had scoffed in disgust at you,your face fell. "no,thorin." you had been hurt at his words,thranduil had tighted his grip on you waist,protectively.
Once you had found out that Thorin and his best fighters had been led into a trapped ,you had forced Thranduil, totake you there and help save them. In which had surprisingly did,you also may have used your sons also heading there ,what if he gets hurt and you couldve saved him. You ended up jumping on azog's back ,legs around his waist stabbing him in the back with daggers,so thorin could go for the kill;you literally looked like drax. Now your life was complete ,you looked awesome,you had also saved fili and kili. Darn Fili deserves more screentime. Azog had flipped you over his shoulders ,slamming you into the ice,strangling you with one hand and blade in another sending a slice up your arm, You had just became loki ,being slammed by hulk,and now you needed stitches. "I...c-can...see..y-your cock." you had to try to speak,face red,unable to breathe.giving Thorin the chance to end his life.
Thorin pushed azogs body away from you,pulling you into his arms. "you are very much crazy ,y/n and for that I will be forever in debt to you as you saved my family and I" he spoke stroking your hair, as you gained your breath back,your neck was definitely was going to be bruised. "I ...r-repaid..my debt for keeping me safe in this strange world all those month,plus i got to see that majestic hair everyday." you reached your hand up,to his hair,running your fingers through it, "i am really sorry for saying what i did earlier, I do not want you getting hurt that was all." he spoke sincerely to you. "dont worry little man,no one has taken my innocence." you smirked in which Thorin smiled at you in relief  before carrying you bridal style to erebor to find oin,trying to avoid hurting your bleeding upper arm.
That was until Thranduil stopped him on his elk,his eyes wondering over your injured form,you smiled at the king. Thranduil knew he had to take you home with him,he had felt things he had never felt before ,even with his now dead wife. "let me take her back with me,to the woodland relm,we have the finest doctors." he had spoken sternly,Thorin had scoffed in response. "oin is the best in erebor!" he had growled,he didnt want you with an elf at all. "more like the only one." Thranduil had annoyed Thorin with this,his stomach bubbled with anger.  "Thorin, its fine I have to go back anyways ,I left belongings there." you tried to convince the dwarven king,however he was stubborn,so it would take more than that. "i will buy and have you made new belongings." he really didnt want you to go,he felt like it was his duty to protect you,he thought of you as a daughter almost.
"Thorin , I will come back,and if not straight away, I will write." you had jumped down from Thorins arms ,before hugging him tightly,and pulling away. Your eyes watered ,as you looked at back at Thorin who's did the same ,as Thranduil lifted you up onto his elk infront of him.
Also you forgot to mention,Tauriel fell off a cliff , rip. Legolas was going away for a while,but promised his father he would try to visit on the feast of starlight. Thranduil had comforted you saying Thorin was safe ,there wasnt any huge chances that something could happen to him while you were gone,you would be able to see him again. Anyways that was many months ago and you wrote to the dwarves and bilbo often,Thranduil would even get elves with drawing talents to draw you so you could send them back for Thorin and Bilbo. Bilbo had requested it. But tonight was the feast of starlight,Thranduil had you a dress made ,and fitted , it was mint green,come to think of it looked exactly like Arwen's dress in return of the time. Maybe you become friends with her tonight ,and gift it too her in the future as she loved it so much. wink wink. Thranduil had personally came to chambers,and walked with you to the feast. Yeah so you had been staying in the woodland relm way longer than you had thought you would have been staying.
Thrandul had sat on the end of the table ,while you sat at the side of the table next to him,there was many high elves at the table such as celeborn,Elrond,Lady Galadriel,and many others,you could barely remember any of there names. However there had been wine,you were barely an adult ,let they kept topping up your glass ,no one told you how strong elvish wine was. You were tipsy very quickly,you didnt make much conversation with anyone as you very nervous of saying something innappropriate. Soon as you all had entered the hall ,the music filled your ears it was quiet boring music. So you just lingled around Thranduil , drinking wine ,which was everywhere ,soon you were very loose  ,and very close to Thranduil. Basically jumping around him, that was until a slightlly up beat song started playing. "Thranduil I am going to go danceeeeee." you had spoke excitely ,gripping the kings arm he had simply nodded.
You had skipped off to the dance floor,letting out a "wooooooo" hitting your fist in the air,Thranduil watched you as you tucked a part of your dress into your short legging shorts,he had gasped at your action as your whole thigh was revealed. You began dancing like you were doing just dance to umbrella,singing the lyrics,pointing to Thranduil ,gesturing him to join he shook his head,you shrug at him. You had learnt this not only because of tom holland but as a child you loved just dance and memorized the movements.
"you have my heart
And we'll never be worlds apart
Maybe in magazines
But you'll still be my star
Baby, 'cause in the dark
You can't see shiny cars
And that's when you need me there
With you, I'll always share"
you had began,as the elves had changed the music to suit the music , you smirked at heart you had gestured to Thranduil,who's face was a beet,he couldnt deny he liked it.
Tumblr media
"When the sun shine, we shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'ma stick it out to the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh"
Tumblr media
you gestured under your dress before ,winking at Thranduil,before pulling the dress off swiftly,causing the elves to gasp ,leaving you in a tight black corset from Thorin and black shorts,you threw the dress at Arwen mouthing keep it.These fancy things
"Will never come in between
You're part of my entity
Here for infinity
When the war has took its part
When the world has dealt its cards
If the hand is hard
Together we'll mend your heart."
Tumblr media
You strut over Thorin ,high and might ,getting very close ,before turing and dropping your ass slightly grazes him ,before flicking a leg out then bring it back in and doing the same with the other. Before standing up quickly,facing him wipping the back of your hands down his face before going back the dance floor.
"When the sun shine, we shine together
Told you I'll be here forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath, I'ma stick it out to the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh"
Tumblr media
Thranduil stares at you,licking his lips at your performance,he was deeply attracted to you there was no doubt about that. You skin glittering in the light as it reflected onto your sweat,
"It's rainin', rainin'
Ooh, baby, it's rainin', rainin'
Baby, come here to me
Come into me
It's rainin', rainin'
Ooh, baby, it's rainin', rainin'"
you finished off ,voice hurting slightly,before grabbing a glass of wine chugging it,bow at the elves that claped for you, smiled brightly,they hadnt seen anything like that ever. You didnt get to anything else before Thranduil practically run at you. You had revealed you love Thranduil ,in your song, He cupped your cheeks gently with his large hands before he pressed his soft lips against yours ,the elves around you clap  around you,as you both kiss passionately.
"will you marry me,y/n?" he spoke once you both pulled away,you nod eagarly before pressing your lips to his quickly,you bow once more before pulling out of the hall,he thanks everyone for coming as you walk out.
lets just say you dont bite his cock off,you went to visit Thorin with Thranduil the next day , they put aside their differences for you ,as Thranduil tells them about your stunt ,not about the boner he hid when you slut dropped infront of him.

Âzyungel= Love of (all) loves
All the chapters of The Great Unknown
It talked. The bloody thing talked. You opened your mouth, then closed it. Why did it talk to you? How could it even talk? What was it? Some hullucination made by dark magic of the woods mixed with your fuzzy brains? What where you even suppose to answer to it?
"Whooo... aree... yooou?" it asked again. Right, your name. You should start by telling your name. But was telling your name to this thing a good idea? This or that, staying quiet wasn't a good option, you were sure of it. The elk turned now fully towards you and was probably going to ask you the same thing third time, when you took a deep breath and told it your name. For a while elk stared at you and then it shook it's head.
"No. Yooou aare not (Y/n). Remember.... whoo youuu.... aaaaare" elk said, sounding far too much of Mufasa from The Lion King. You frowned and folded your arms. What did it mean, remember who you are? Or did it refer to the story you had heard of Glorfindel and Shael? About you being their daughter? You didn't evevn know the name of that kid! Or if you even were this kid from the story!
"I'm (Y/n)! That's all I know of myself!" you shouted, frustaded. Because that was the truth. You didn't know who or what you were. You were just you, (Y/n). But, the elk turned away from you, not saying anything else to you. And then it was gone, hidden by the dark forest. Yeah. Right.
"FUCK you too!" you shouted after the thing. For a second you hoped that some hungry creature would find it and eat it. Mean thing to think about a forest God, yes, but fuck it. Your head was throbbing with a headache. How nice was that?
You lifted your left hand to message your temple, but stopped when you heard an voice. For an second you weren't sure what that voice was, it was just... It was a voice, alright?
When you opened your eyes, you saw tall, red haired... elf maiden? ... pointing an arrow to you. Ah... So that was what you had heard. Someone sneaking up to you and loading their weapon. You sighed and let your hand drop back to your side. Just great, this was all you needed. But no, there was more. A blode elf jumped down from a tree, calling this red haired elf as "Tauriel". Then his icy blue eyes turned to you, and you felt some sort of an familiarity in this person.
And just because the two of you looked at eachother.
And he must have felt somehing similar when looking at you, because his face fell. This Tauriel threw an look to you and then she turned to look at Blondy, talking to him in elvish. And after few seconds Blondy threw an look at her and answered. You didn't understand them, and you felt uneasy with this familiarity with this Blondy. You wanted to run, but you felt like a trapped deer, ready to be killed.
So, when this Blondy turned back to you, and addressed you by asking who you were - you weren't ready for this question after the weird God deer, because honestly, you didn't know who you were - you shook your head, took a step back and then you turned, and ran. And then you saw it, saw your savior. The raging river was just there. And the elves were just behind you.
You turned as a an otter and then, just as you were going to feel little preassure in your stomach when you started to fall towards the water, a hand catched you and withrew you back to the land. Altoguht, you weren't released from the grip. Instead, you were turned and met with two, maybe a little confused eyes of Tauriel, the one who caught you.
"What...?" you heard Tauriel ask. "She was just a daughetr of man! And now.... now... she's... Did you see...?" She was shocked, how surprising. You sighed. Just as you were ready to bite her hand, the Blondy took you and locked his eyes with you. You growled at him, well... Atleas you tried....
"Cute as always, cousin" he said and you froze. Did he just you call you his COUSIN?!
  Thorin sat in his lonely cell and recalled the moment they had realized they had lost sight of (Y/n).
Panic.
Shouting.
Cursing.
Helplesness.
Then Bilbo was gone. More panic.
Thorin himself felt these things.
There was no hope. She should have gone with Gandalf, Thorin knew. Somehow Thorin just knew. Some things would have turned right, if she had, but now? No hope, no hope, no hope, no hope, no hop.....
And then, the spiders. And after they were attacked by these wile creatures, the darkness came siddenly, with a little hint of pain and sting in his lower belly. And then Thorin had received his nightmares. Nightmares of involving (Y/n). They were so... strange. She was tall, but still Thorin knew she wa not in age yet. Just a chil, maybe a teen at most. Like he was. They both were crying. Mahal, Thorin realizised at some point, he was there with her, in a battlefield. Orcs and animals and elves and dwarves, and screaming everywhere.
And then.... And then... he had...
Thorin's eyes threw up to meet Bilbo's blue ones. He had heard a voice...
"Should I get you lad's out of here, or is sulking in here something you'd rather do?" Bilbo asked, grinning a little. Those few dwarves who were awake and had heard Bilbo, shout-whispered his name. And Thorin felt a little spark in his heart. Spark of hope.
"Bilbo! Is... is she with you?" he asked. But when Bilbo shook sadly his head, Thorin felt his heart sink. She was still lost. She was lost for him. His Gabil Lukhudel. Thorin's eyes dropped back to the door of his cell. His Âzyungel was lost for him. Probably forever. Thorin heard a sound and the the door opened. And then Bilbo spoke.
"C'mon on now, Thorin. Let's go find (Y/n). She's a clever woman" Bilbo's voice was kind, and Thorin found himself lifting his eyes to meet Bilbo's kind ones. He would desserve to be one of the uncle's of his babe's, Thorin suddenly thought. And then Bilbo's eyes took that knowing clint, and how he smiled that wide, toothy grin of his- and added "She's far more a glever and stronger woman than we thought. More than enough to be a queen of the Lonely Mountain. Mere spider's wont get her"
And a tear fell down Thorin's cheek. A queen under The Mountain was more stronger than he had thought. And he believed it now.
Thorin nodded and walked to the door.
"My wife is stronegr than I believed. And I thank you for reminding me from that" Thorin said, smiling a little. And Bilbo grinned, keeping the cell door open for Thorin. "She is stronger than she herself thinks"
"She's not yer wife yet, laddie" Dwalin tried to humor Thorin from few sells away. Thorin turned to glare the direction where Dwalin was, but then he sighed.
"She will be, soon" he murmured more to himself than anyone else. And then he, and the rest of the company, followed Bilbo to the cellar's. Their bulgar had some sort of an better idea for escaping than the front door, which, the more Thorin tought about, was better and safer idea. So, he ordered the other's to hide in the barrel's and the then down they went, first dropping down to the river and then they travelled alongside the river.
Everything had went well, until their escape was stopped by a sudden shout in elvish and guard of the river gate, well, did his job and closed the gate. Thorin cursed, and tried to slam the gate open, but in vain. Nori, Kili, Dwalin and Bifur jumped off from their barrels, and together they managed to tackle the guard down, Dwalin and Nori opening the gate. Then the four jumped down to their barrels, and the journey could finally continue.
  Thranduil stood in his throne room, alone with four guards, facing a far away wall, not really seeing anything. His mind was occupied by many things.
So many things had changed just in a few days. One of the guards had entered in throne room about twenty minutes ago, claiming that Thorin Oakenshield with his dwarven company had just escaped via river, hiding in the empty wine barrels.
None of them should be hurt, my lord, the guard had said. But, just as the dwarves had escaped - after few of them had taken down the guard in watch over the river gate after it had been closed- handful of orcs had stumbled from the forest. A little too late, it seemed, since they seemed to be after the dwavres as they didn't pay as much mind to the elves as one would think, and they ran alongside the river after the barrels, the guard mentioned.
They were in luck, Thranduil thought. The number of the spider's were rising, as were the orcs near Dol Guldur. They had no need for these sudden orc raids. Thranduil didn't want to send his scouts after these horrible creatures, didn't want to risk their lives. They had taken too many of his loved ones, and the king did not want to put his subjects in on a danger, even if they voluntered to go outside of the walls of his kingdom.
Then, Thranduil's thoughts were ceased by none other than his trusted guard, Feren. He looked a bit rigid, and concerd. That was enough for Thranduil to know that something was wrong. Very much so.
"My Lord, it's your son... One of the guards at the front gate just informed me. Legolas and Tauriel have left, most likely after the orc scout" Feren informed. Thranduil closed his eyes and released an shaky breath. No, he thought. Not another one of his closest ones.
  You stared at Blondy, your jaw hanging down a little. Tauriel, who still stood next to this Bondie, stared at him, her jaw also hanging in shock.
"Cousin?!" she managed to chocke. Blondy turned to her and his brow rose. Tauriel turned to you and then back to Blondy. "But.... I thought.... I thought all the Guardians were dead" Your eyes snapped to Tauriel and your tail wiggled a little. The Guardians? Did she mean... Could she possibly mean Shael and her people? The Maiar's who could transform themselves into an animal's?
"Yes. I heard my father once talk about them, with Feren. He mentioned that aunt Shael had managed to save her daughters life, or rather her... soul. Her fae... Would you, please, turn back to your... normal form?" Blondy told Tauriel, saying the rest for you a little annoyed. You sighed, and bondered an second if you should nibble his hand, and then dismissed the idea, turning back to human. Blondy's hand setteld on your shoulder after you had turned, and you noted that you were much shorter than he was.
Well... What a surprise, you were about as tall as a dwarf, maybe a head taller than Thorin.
"Better, blondy?" you asked, letting the annoyance be heard in your voice. And then you noted a little smile rise in corner of the Blondy's face.
"Still calling me blondy, it seems...." he murmured. You threw an look to Tauriel, but decided she would not be any help for you. She looked far too amused, even when she did try to hide it. You took a deep breath and then released it.
"Would you please explain me, what the actual fuck is going on?" you pleaded. Both Blondy and Tauriel turned serious as their gaze fell on you. "I'm sorry to say this, but... I don't know you. I don't remember you. Neither of you. I don't remember being an... what you called it? Guardian? I don't even remember ever, never living in... HERE. All I know and remember of me being (Y/n), an adopted daughter of Regina and Robin, that I lived in Stoorybroke and then in NY. And then.... when I had a fight with my adoptive mother, I... went to an walk and found myself in here, traveling with Gandalf and.... Oh fuck me...." you rambled, losing your nerve. Then, when you remembered than there was this stubid wizard called Gandalf, did you remeber that little, weird company from past few months, who these two really were...
Your brains really had failed you. Thanks, stupid, dark forest, big God like deer roast, headache, these stupid elves from scaring you and taking your mind elsewhere. You forgot the movie.
If these two were here, it meant that your friends had escaped, which meant that... You turned even more pale, and turned towards the river, and the big lake and the Lonely Mountain far in the horizon.
"Oh no..." you whispered and then you turned back to the elves, who were eyeing you.
"You didn't happen to see thirteen dwarves on your way here?" you asked, looking at your so-called cousin and his red haired friend. They shared an look and then they turned to you, both looking a little grim.
"Please don't say they are friends of yours" Blondy said, looking a little disappointed. Your eyebrow rose and you grossed your arms. Right, he didn't like dwarves, and neither did Tauriel. Expect for the one specific.
"One of them may be my loved one, but oh... I don't know..." you answered sarcastically. Blondy stared at you, his jaw clenching, and then, finally, he sighed, turning away from you. You turned your eyes to Tauriel, and frowned at her natural expression. She was rather good at hiding her expression's, when she wanted to, or she didn't like Kili, or then he was alright. You prayed for the latter.
"Are they alright? Is anyone of them hurt?" you decided to ask from her. Tauriel shook her head a little.
"None of them is hurt.  They manages to nock down one of our guards, and the orc pack came few minutes later after they escaped" she answered. You nodded, accepting her answer. You could somehow sence that she was telling the truth. And the little hesitation she held back. You had to smile at that.
"You love one of them? Who?" Blondy asked, his back still turned towards you. You turned your eyes to him and bit your lower lip. You didn't trust him enough to tell him about you and Thorin. You didn't trust him to tell the truth about anything he had said before. Not without you not knowing the truth yourself.
"Now that is none of your business" you told him, glaring at his back. Blondy sighed and turned around to look at you. He didn't look angry, rather... disappointed and sad? You felt uneasy at this, not quite sure why he wasn't angry at you being in love with an dwarf. Like you excpeted him to be.
"I just don't understand why you would love an dwarf, when it was his race that got your mother and you entire race killed" he said, locking his eyes with you. You felt your insides freeze. You knew threre was more to the story that you had heard, but... still... This was not what you had expected.

Thranduil looks down his nose at the dwarven king. “If you recall, I have an army at your gates.”
“And if YOU recall,” Fili spits back, “I already gave you what payment you deserved. I consider myself a kinder and more levelheaded dwarf than my uncle was, but you are trying my patience.”
The queen reaches over the side of his throne and puts her hand in his. The young king turns to meet her eye, just briefly, and she shakes her head.
“Not very patient,” the Elvenking says, “if you need your halfling wife to hold you back and keep you from falling to the gold.”
The ‘halfling wife’ in question mumbles something, looking at her nails with a raised eyebrow. The dwarf king frowns at her. The elven one ignores her.
“I’m sure,” Fili says, “you’d also find it difficult to keep your patience if an opposing king were threatening your country with outright war. I might be above exacerbating these circumstances, but I’m not above asking you to leave my mountain.”
The Elvenking turns on his heel and storms out of the throne room, his hands empty. Fili slumps back in the throne. “Kili,” he says, “make sure they actually leave, won’t you?”
“They aren’t about to let Tauriel go home, are they,” the younger dwarf says sadly.
“It seems like it,” The king replies. “I’m sorry. I did my best.”
“’S not your fault,” Kili mumbles, following after the elves.
“Huh,” Cassia says, when they all have left, “I’ve half a mind to give that elf a piece of my mind! Coming into our home like that! It’s making peace talks all the harder!”
“Mmm,” Fili mumbles, “I’m sure you lecturing him like a child wouldn’t help, no matter how much he needs it.”
The hobbit crosses her arms grouchily. “I bet I could make a career out of scolding kings. I’d be good at it.”
Her husband nods absently, flipping through some papers, then frowns and looks up like he’d just remembered something. “Kurduwë,” he says, “what was that you mumbled when the elfking made a jibe about me and the goldsickness? You said something but I didn’t catch it.”
“Oh,” she blushes. “I said, 'at least he still has a wife’.”
“Cassia!”
“What?! I know it was a bit uncalled for, but I was mad! Besides, no one was meant to hear it!”
“Do you want to start another war? Mahal, lass, use your head!”
She crosses her arms. “We were all thinking it.”
“No, we weren’t! Do you always have to be so flippant? Don’t make jokes about those things.”
“He always ignores me but to insult me,” she snaps, “we can’t I insult back?”
“Because it’s STUPID, mizimelûh!”
“So? My role in this kingdom isn’t simply to make you babies and make sure you don’t go mad, which is what he and everyone else seems to think it is, so forgive me for being mildly upset!” She leaps up and storms off, but Fili doesn’t let her get far, grabbing her arm and spinning her back around.
She glares up at him, tears fighting to squeeze themselves out of her blue eyes. He sighs, all of his anger leaving him with the breath. “Don’t cry, amrâlimê,” he murmurs. She stomps her foot and covers her face with her hands.
“I’m not!” She sobs.
“Cassia,” he murmurs, pulling her into a hug.
“Do you think me stupid?” She asks.
“No, I don’t think you stupid,” he says comfortingly. “I think you impulsive and perhaps too fierce for you own good, but not stupid.”
“I’ll stay quiet next time,” she mumbles. “I don’t want to raise our baby in wartime.”
Fili places his hand on the gentle curve of her belly where their child has just begun their life. “Me neither, Cassia. But perhaps I overreacted.”
“You didn’t. I was wrong.”
He neither agrees nor disagrees, just hums softly and rubs her belly. “It upsets me just as much, the way so many of our Council speak down to you, as if the fact that you are not dwarrow makes your opinions and what you have to say invalid. It’s cruel and it hurts me, too. I suspect the Elvenking ignores you because something about you must remind him of his own wife. I’m sure he misses her very much, as I would miss you.”
“It’s been several centuries, though.”
“Time doesn’t heal all wounds, Cassia.”
“But it makes them easier to bear.” She pushes off from his chest to look up at him. “Don’t forget I have lost people, too.”
“I would never,” he says gently, wiping the tear tracks off her cheeks with his thumb. Her eyes and nose are still ruby red, as they always are after she cries. “But I know that were I to lose you, nothing in this world would seem quite right, and the sun would no longer shine for me, nor the birds sing, nor forge and flame ever bring me joy again. I can empathize with the elfking, even as he makes me angry.”
“Then you are a better person than me.”
“That is untrue,” he says. “You just pay more attention to your anger and let it out. I let it fester. That is not a good thing.”
“At least you don’t almost start wars.”
“You did not almost start a war, Cassia.”
“You certainly acted like I did.”
“I didn’t mean to. Truly. He just makes me so angry. I guess it bled over.”
“Did you see the way he looked down his nose at you?” She giggles, “when you asked him to lift the banishment on Tauriel?”
“I did. Oh, I hate that! It boils my blood! Like he’s thinking, 'my people were crafted by Eru Himself, while you lowly dwarves made from stone by a mere Vala’. You can tell he thinks of orcs and dwarves on around the same level, merely because his race is the firstborn, and we emerged later. If he knew anything of history, he would know Eru adopted us as His children, too.”
Cassia giggles.
“What?” Fili asks.
“Nothing, I just would very much enjoy the sight of you lecturing that pompous king on the intent of both Mahal and Eru.”
Fili bends down and kisses the tip of her nose. “I know you would enjoy that, but one of us has to keep our cool, and we both know it won’t be you and it definitely won’t be Kili.”
She laughs again. “Maybe it’ll hurry things up if I speak up,” she says.
“Let’s not test that,” her husband says.
She giggles again.
The next day turns out much the same, with Thranduil making rude jabs about the Durin Line’s penchant for goldsickness, and Fili struggling desperately to keep his patience. Cassia is slumped down in her own seat, struggling with morning sickness and wondering when this will all end, and on Fili’s other side, Kili is practically vibrating with the effort to keep his mouth shut.
“My uncle-” Fili starts.
“Your Uncle?” The elfking says derisively, “your uncle fell to the same sickness as his grandfather and father. He was weak.”
Kili makes an indignant noise in the back of his throat, and Fili, for all his Mahal-given patience, reaches his limit.
“At least he didn’t let his kingdom become infested with gigantic spiders!”
Cassia sits up straight in her seat, instantly forgetting her nausea. Kili snickers quietly, biting his lip to keep from full on cackling. He’ll be no help.
“Fili,” Balin starts.
“What was that?” Thranduil says.
“I said,” Fili replies, emboldened by his own indignation, “That at least he didn’t let his kingdom become infested with spiders.”
“But he led it to war.”
“I didn’t see you doing much to smooth that over, now did I? It takes two to start a war.”
The elfking opens his mouth for a cutting reply, but Cassia decides she’s had enough.
“Stop it!” She snaps, jumping to her feet. “I’ve had about enough of you two arguing!”
Fili shuts his mouth immediately. “Yes, ma'am,” he says.
“Is this what we’ve come to?” She snaps, stomping her foot, “arguing like children? If we can’t come to an agreement, then just shut your mouths!!!” She whirls on her husband and shakes her finger in his face. “Fili! I’m ashamed of you! You get bothered when I make comments no one hears, and then you turn around and do the same thing!”
“Sorry, kurduwë,” Fili says ashamedly. “That was wrong of me.”
“And Kili! Stop giggling and grow up! You’re acting like a dwarfling who just stole a cookie from the jar! Some advisor you are!”
Kili slides down in his chair beneath her scolding. “Sorry.”
“And you!” Cassia rounds on the elfking himself, all three feet and six inches of trembling fury. “Coming into our home to threaten us, as subtle as it may be, and speaking badly of the dead! Haven’t you done enough?”
“I—” Thranduil starts.
“I don’t want to hear it!” She snaps. “You all act like children!” She stomps her foot once more for good measure. “The only one in this room with some sense is Balin and no one’s even listening to him! You all should be ashamed! Ashamed!!! If I wanted to spend my time with a bunch of squabbling housewives I would have stayed in the Shire! Now! If you excuse me, I’m going to go be sick!”
She whirls on her heel and storms out.
“Why is she going to be sick?” Kili asks, “I didn’t think Thranduil’s voice was that nauseating.”
“It’s because of this baby your brother put inside me!” Cassia yells back. Fili’s ears immediately turn a brilliant shade of red as every pair of eyes in the room swivel to look at him.
.
The bedroom door opens with a creak of unoiled hinges, and Fili pauses halfway through to shake the door, looking up at the hinges. “Remind me to fix that,” he says absently.
Cassia, snuggled under the covers of their bed, grunts noncommittally.
Fili sighs, running a hand through his blond hair. “Mizimelûh,” he says, “are you still mad at me? Not that I don’t deserve it, of course.”
She looks up from her book. “Did you lot actually get anything done today after I left or was it merely more arguing?”
Fili sits down on the edge of the bed and starts to unbuckle his boots. “Well, you’ll be pleased to know that yes, we did come to something of an agreement.”
“What sort of agreement?”
“I agreed to give him some more of the treasure, and he agreed…” Fili pauses to pull off his boots, “…to help with the final stage of rebuilding Dale and return the items his people took from us when we were in his dungeons.”
“I wasn’t aware that was a point of contention,” she says.
“That was Kili’s idea, since the elfking still won’t lift the banishment on Tauriel. Thranduil reckons that since she disobeyed a direct order she still must be punished. I truly don’t understand the advantage of alienating one of his best warriors like that. Seems foolish.”
Cassia hums. “I agree. We could use her to infiltrate his kingdom if we really wanted to.”
Fili snorts at that. “Good idea. I’ll bring that up with her next time I see her. I’m sure it will go over swimmingly.”
She giggles. “At the very least, when she and Kili start having babies, imagine how useful very tall children would be in battle.”
“I never thought of that. The two of them better get busy. I have a need for very tall archers in my armies. Just in case.” Fili crawls over the bed and kisses Cassia and she responds happily. “Does that mean you forgive me?” he asks against her mouth.
“Yes.”
“Ah,” he says. “That’s good.” He rubs his hand over her belly. “Very good. You said yesterday you could make a career out of scolding kings, and I wholeheartedly agree.”
“Silly,” she giggles, “I’m a queen. It’s already my job!”

Angel On Fire - Chapter 16 - Barrel Riders
Tumblr media
Warnings: fighting, cursing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trying to get Thranduil to release Thorin and the rest of the dwarves was a hassle. I couldn’t tell you how long it took to try and change his mind. It was long enough for my ribs to heal and my patience to wear thin. Thankfully there was one bonus to being stuck here, and that was Legolas. No matter what we talked about he listened to everything without any prejudices. It was a godsent.
Today I was to go down and visit Thorin and the dwarves, like I always did since my ribs healed; when instead of Legolas escorting me, it was an auburn-haired female elf. I had learned from Legolas, that her name was Tauriel, and she was captain of the guard. The two of us had slowly become friends as well. Tauriel was a smart and beautiful elf. She always made it a mission to update me on the progress of my brothers search.
However, this day wouldn’t go as planned, for when we reached the dungeons the cells were empty. My heart races in my chest as I think about how they had left me behind. Tauriel strides up to the empty cells and addresses the other elven guards.
“Where is the keeper of the keys?” Tauriel requests as she moves ahead of me.
I stare at Thorin’s empty cell and start to fill my anger raise. As Tauriel and I rush towards the cellar a group of elves join us. Just as we get to the cellar, I notice a spot on the floor close and Tauriel pauses.
“Go notify Lord Legolas.” Tauriel orders her elves. She watches for a moment before she turns to go down a secret path. I go to follow her but she stops me. “You must stay here. Legolas would kill me if any harms came to you.”
“I can take care of myself.” I reply angrily as I motion for her to keep going. She nods and I follow her through the halls until we come out into the light on a path near a roaring river.
After a few minutes of following them I hear elf horn sound from behind us and I furrow my brow. A part of me hoped the dwarves could get away, but then the other part of me was furious that they were going to leave me behind. As we near them I hear the familiar sounds of orcs and my blood starts to boil. Was Azog here? If he was, I was going to show him the extent of my rage.
“Kili!” I Hear Fili cry out in panic and I start to push myself faster to reach them. I notice Tauriel doing the same.
An orc leaps over to kill Kili, but an arrow suddenly flies into its head. Kili looks over and sees Tauriel running through the bushes. She shoots another orc, then kills others with her knife.
“Gor’-ash! Gor golginul!” (Kill her! Kill the She-Elf!) I hear an Orc order and I turn to see a pale-ish orc with parts of his body filled with metal and I clench my jaw as I reach down and calling earth making the vines reach up and attack Orcs that try to overwhelm Tauriel.
An Orc rushes me and before I can do anything, Legolas and other elves appear from the bushes and shoot them down. As Tauriel, Legolas, and the other elves fight the orcs, Kili manages to grab the lever and pull it, opening the sluice gate and letting the dwarves in their barrels through. He then falls on his back again in pain. The dwarves in barrels fall down another waterfall and float down the river.
“Khozdayin obguryash! Abgurid!” (After them!) The lead Orc calls and I watch as the dwarves start to move down the river.
“Kili!” Fili calls to his brother and I watch as Kili manages to slide himself off the ledge and into his empty barrel below. As he lands in it, the shaft of the arrow in his leg breaks off on the edge of the barrel. The remaining dwarves and Bilbo plunge over the waterfall and continue floating down the rushing river, as the orcs follow the river on land.
The dwarves try to paddle and steer with their hands, but to no avail; the river is running too wild. As they come to a narrow part of the river, orcs on either side begin shooting arrows at them. I watch them for a moment before I rush forward and lifting one arm, I call forth a dragon made of water and watch as it lifts into the air and lets out a loud roar. I send it forward to attack the orcs who threaten my friends.
With a wave of my hand it devours all it comes into contact with shoving the orcs deep down under the water’s surface. At first the Dwarves are scared; but after realizing it means them no harm, they start fighting alongside it.
Tauriel, Legolas, the other elves, and I run after the orcs chasing the dwarves. An orc jumps from an overhanging tree branch toward Balin, but Thorin throws his sword and pins the orc to the tree; as the orc drops its weapon, Thorin catches it while floating beneath him, and he throws back to Bombur, who throws it to Nori, who throws it to Fili, who kills an orc with it. An orc leaps onto Dwalin’s barrel, only for Dwalin to headbutt it off and steal its axe. The dwarves see a low-hanging tree branch stretched across the river in front of them, with several orcs on it.
“Cut the log!” Thorin calls out and as he floats under it, Thorin hits it with his sword, then Bofur hits it with his weapon, and Dwalin, right behind him, hits the branch with his axe, breaking it and causing the orcs on it to fall into the river. Bilbo manages to climb atop a floating barrel.
Seeing Bilbo struggle to hold on I send a little magic his way to help him stay afloat so his grip could remain on the stray barrel.
“Bombur!” Dwalin calls as he throws his axe to Bombur, who kills an orc that had just jumped onto his barrel. The Orc’s spear ends up pinning it to an overhanging tree branch; the other end of the spear catches onto Bombur’s barrel and catapults it through the air and onto the riverbank, where the barrel rolls and tramples multitudes of orcs. The barrel flips through the air to the other side of the river, where it tramples more orcs.
Eventually, the barrel comes to a stop, and orcs surround it; however, Bombur kicks out the bottom, then sticks his arms holding axes through the sides. He then starts spinning rapidly with the axes extended, mowing down all the orcs around him. He then runs toward the river, tosses his axe to one of the floating dwarves, then gracefully jumps into an empty barrel.
Meanwhile, Legolas, Tauriel, the other elves, and I have caught up to the dwarves and orcs, and they fight the orcs while I try to help the dwarves out by sending the dragon down to try to soften their barrel ride.
At one point, Legolas leaps over the river and lands with a foot on the heads of two dwarves, from this vantage point, he shoots orcs on either riverbank. He aims carefully, and manages to skewer two orcs through the head with one arrow. Legolas continues fighting orcs, using the heads of floating dwarves as stepping stones to get across the river.
I shake my head as I think about how annoyed Dwalin would be later when he recalled this event. Then in the process of my though I am left wide open as an orc grabs me from behind his grip holding tightly to the back of my neck. I let out a cry of pain and I could swear I heard Thorin cry out in anger.
“Our master wants you.” He growls into my ear and I feel a shudder of fear wash over me.
“Your master can go fuck himself!” I yell back.
I glance toward where the dwarves had been a second before and I notice that they were out of sight. I smirk to myself as I call fire and reaching up grab the orcs hand. My eyes fill with fire as I send it out to cover the orcs body burning him to a crisp. His dying screams filling the air. When he is dead, I turn and using air push myself faster so that I could catch up with the dwarves and Legolas.
When I reach him, I notice he is preoccupied fighting an orc, another orc runs up behind him and raises its sword to kill him. I go to cry out to him when Thorin, from his barrel in the river, throws his sword and manages to kill the orc behind Legolas. Legolas and Thorin look at each other with some sort of understanding; Legolas stops pursuing them as the dwarves continue floating down the river. It seems like all the orcs are dead.
Legolas’s eyes find mine and I offer him an apologetic look as I run forward and reaching the river’s edge dive into it. A rush of cold water surrounds me as I push myself to the surface. Using my powers, I surge through the water to catch up with the dwarves in their barrels. Reaching them I reach out and grabbing a barrel look to see who was inside.
“Hold on tight lass,” Dwalin says and I nod as I grip tightly to the side of the barrel my body suddenly becoming very heavy after the use of my powers.
Burn my Heart Out, Fili and Kili staunchly stand by Bilbo while he hovered near death. So staunchly they don’t notice that no one really wants to kill him, except maybe the greedy idiot down in Laketown. And then the Armies marched.
*slaps table* YES. Kili and Fili are Fussing™. Nobody wants to kill Bilbo, all the dwarves are freaking out because their Hobbit is actually a dragon and their dragon-Hobbit is DYING from wounds he got fighting SMAUG and they don’t know what to DO-.
Thorin is too busy going into Protecc Mode to really let the Gold Sickness take him, and as conflicted as he is that Bilbo is a DRAGON … he fought Smaug. He killed Smaug, he has gone through so much for them, he lies on the now-hard gold floor of the throne room where they tried to drown the evil drake and shivers while Oin struggles to learn Dragon Care right this exact second, mere inches form death, ALL FOR THEM. And there is a voice in his head, whispering that Bilbo just wants the gold, like all dragons, like all OUTSIDERS but he doesn’t listen, because when he looks at the dragon shivering on the floor (so much smaller than Smaug, so huge compared to elves or men or dwarves yet so TINY compared to the fire-drake and Thorin wonders how YOUNG Bilbo is by dragon years, if Thorin has dragged a child into war-) all he can see is Bilbo’s scared, heartbroken face as he chose to jump off the mountain and fight rather than sneak inside and claim the treasure that supposedly is the most wanted thing on middle earth. All he can see is his Burglar, his Hobbit, his FRIEND whisper “I’m so sorry”, like he thought his very existence was a sin against the Company and yet was going to reveal himself and fight for them (risk dying for them) anyway.
The Armies come because Thorin and the others are locked in their mountain refusing to interact with anyone, and at first Thorin ignores them, he has a half-dead Burglar and a two panicking nephews to deal with, he has no TIME-.
Then the man, Bard, reminds Thorin of his promise, and while Thorin will give NOTHING to the elves who have broken their vows and now expect riches they have not earned, he impatiently THROWS several sacks of gold over the makeshift wall at the Bowman, yells at him to GO AWAY now, because that’s plenty of gold to rebuild their damaged lake town, or even Dale itself, three times over.
Bard blinks down at the sacks of gold and jewels in astonishment, having expected to have to fight for it.
But Thranduil will not be dissuaded, and Bard has entered into pact with the elf for them to BOTH get their desired treasures and so the two armies kinda … camp out outside the mountain, vainly trying to ignore the giant dragon corpse not far from the camp and the knowledge that there is ANOTHER dragon just waiting to come out and kill them on Thorin’s word (so they think).
Gandalf shows up, warning direly of the Goblin army coming to kill them all and demands to see his Burglar, Thorin and the dwarves, at this point horribly paranoid that anyone but them will try to kill Their Dragon Burglar, basically yell at Gandalf to Stuff It and Leave. Gandalf is horribly insulted, lineages are thrown around (G: ”Thorin son of Thrain son of Thror of the line of Durin OPEN THIS GATE THIS INSTANT and let me see my Burglar!” T: “SHAN’T.”)
More dire warnings of goblins armies happen when Legolas and Tauriel (I loved her addition to the movie DON’T @ ME) show up talking about what they’ve seen and then Dain Ironfoot shows up FOR SOME REASON and it looks like everyone is going to throw hands with everyone else when the Goblins Army shows up and the Elves, Men, and Dwarves eyeball each other and go “yea let’s fight the goblins and orcs first and then deal with each other” and so the Battle of Five Armies happens.
Thorin and his company (sans Oin because someone needs to take care of the still-unconscious dragon) burst out epically to help fight and shenanigans LOOK like they’re going to end in tragedy again-.
Until Everyone hears frantic hysterical dwarvish cursing.
From above.
Also that is a very dragon like shadow forming on the ground WE’VE GOT INCOMING-.
Bilbo, still kinda whoozy and sick and weak from fighting Smaug but awake and firmly in Dragon Protective Rage crashes down onto the ice where Azog is threatening to kill Fili just to spite Thorin, a swearing, white-knuckled Oin on his back from where he’d been trying to STOP the injured dragon-burglar, and Bilbo proceeds to rampage his way to victory and happy endings because Smaug might have almost killed him but nothing save a dragon can kill another dragon, even an injured one. Azog dies, Fili, Kili, and Thorin live, Kili gets to impulse kiss his elf crush (and she kisses back! Kili is a Joy). None of the company die because Bilbo rampages through the goblin army while the men and elves and dain’s gang all collectively blue screen and then Bilbo promptly snatches up his dwarves plus Tauriel because she was kissing Kili at the time, flies back into the mountain, and passes out again.
Gandalf takes advantage of the gaping hole in the door to storm in and ask WHAT JUST HAPPENED.
Thorin has no idea. He thought the wizard would no. Bilbo don’t you DARE go and die on him after saving his life twice over and killing both of his most hated enemies for him. Don’t you DARE.
Considering Thranduil is not the type to throw hands with a dragon, the elf army kindly buzzes off, Dain gets nearly mauled by angry relatives for asking if Thorin is going to kill the new dragon while it’s down, and when Bilbo wakes up a lot of stories are exchanged and tears shed and Thorin declares that Bilbo is welcome to stay in Erebor FOREVER all things considered and Bilbo cries because his hoard still wants him and his king is offering him a proper home and den and Bilbo is a very emotional person by nature.
So in the end, Erebor is still inhabited by a dragon, but this one is much more friendly and helpful and tends to go around in the shape of a Hobbit most of the time since that makes it easier to fit through doors.
Also at some point Bilbo remembers that stupid, cursed ring he found a while back and speed flies over to the hottest volcano he can find since that’s the surest way to destroy cursed objects and since the Ring Wraiths don’t have dragons yet, all Sauron can do is screech pathetically from his eyeball tower as a bright green and yellow dragon flies over to Mount Doom and yeets the Ring into it.
Bilbo doesn’t even notice the tower collapsing behind him in spasms of Evilz™, he’s going to be late for Kili’s wedding if he doesn’t hurry up.
It’s only way later when ambassadors from Gondor show up to reverently ask after the dragon that “slew the greatest of evils” that Bilbo blinks twice, remembers the falling, screaming tower of strange fiery eyeballs, and says that wasn’t HIS doing, he was only there to throw a cursed ring into the volcano.
Love, lead me on - Legolas x Priestess!Reader/OC - Chapter 1 pt. 2/2
Alternatively :
On the road leading to you, I'll send a million I love you's
[ Work Text: ]
They had defeated their fair share of enemies- tiger and master, side by side, guarding each others backs and sharing an affectionate moment with their foreheads pressed together afterwards before going back in to the battlefield once more and racing to Dale after finding out that the orcs were planning to fight them on two fronts and one of which was targeting the unsuspecting settlement.
It was already a given that the dark haired priestess would abruptly turn her head towards that direction, chorusing with Gandalf as they made the dreadful announcement, although hers contained a proposition that she'll head straight toward the town along with Bard and his army of angry fishermen to hopefully warn the villagers in time and protect them before it's too late.
Thranduil had given her a look as if she had just lost any sense it was that he saw on her in the beginning.
"You came to the Woodland Realm with the intention of learning the culture in order to be a fine priestess. This is no longer the palace halls of Mirkwood but a battlefield, and you are still but a novice and not a warrior. You should be aware of the confines of what you could and could not do, Celine. Before you even get yourself killed." The elvenking, despite of his cold, condescending demeanor was adamant on keeping her out of trouble, if she was to judge it on how tight his grip on her shoulders were.
But it never made her resolution dwindle. For though she is of young age -even for a priestess, a human and most especially an elf- her fortitude and gallantry surpasses that of a great warrior, be it living or dead.
With a slight shake of her head and a confident little smile, she had confirmed that her will is yet to bend under the king's stone-cold gaze.
"My sincerest apologies, dear King but as much as I appreciate your concern, I ought to take my leave now. I believe you would be more than capable to arm yourself and your men but I doubt those men and women in Dale could survive the attack unaided." She offers instead, her face hardening a considerable amount before she decides to hide it behind yet another smile.
The Elvenking barely even held back the sharp comment threatening to resurface and slip past his lips.
'I hardly think the aid of an apprentice priestess is what they would need...'
But he still did manage to keep it to himself because he knows this stubbornly selfless and naive little novice is merely a front to something even more glorious than a simple priestess. She is a competent warrior both in heart and soul- her mentor was his son after all- although he'll never admit it. And with this, Thranduil elegantly held his head high with pride as he always does,
"Very well then. Do as you wish." He tilts his head in the manner that had already began customary for him, the one that throws parts of his silky white locks on one side in gracious flows. He then nods his head, face void of any emotions and goes in the same direction she's taking. His regal form perched on top of his great elk as the young priestess rode her tiger.
"Pardon my imprudence, my king, but is it a mere coincidence that we're both taking the same route?" Celine asked -because why else would the king leave his men in the battlefield- head cocked to the side, gusts of wind tossing the strands of her hair -that wasn't braided into her intricate bun- around.
"I am merely seeing you off. I cannot have an apprentice priestess dying in the watch of a king as I. It would simply not do my reputation any good." Thranduil replied, monotonously, as if not even giving any effort on stating his reasons. He's not even supposed to be offering explanations regarding his actions to a mere apprentice in the first place.
The bluenette gives a hum, letting it be known that she takes his excuse and resumes to ride with the king in silence, despite of all the bloodshed happening around them until finally, their paths had split up and she waved the king a silent goodbye.
"May the Valars look down and smile upon you." The elvenking says as he tips his head at the priestess with a minute upwards turn of the lips that the girl hadn't missed.
It would never escape her how those relentlessly frosty blue eyes that lingered looked so unearthly familiar that it took her breath away and she was still piecing bits of her consciousness as the snow-haired elf returned her wave with a curt nod before turning back to his post among his men.
She was finally reunited with her favorite duo back in Dale. Although not under the most favorable circumstances, but at least she had gotten to see him once again.
"Where have you two been?"
And that was when they told her the tale of an impending ambush from the north. Legolas had already tried to coax his father to help the dwarves, but seeing to it that a huge number of his kin had already been lost during the preliminary fight, she couldn't really blame Thranduil for turning his request down.
Of course, it didn't really help when Tauriel started to point her arrow at the king. Stating that she pities him since he do not know of love.
Which is quite ironic for her to say after falling in love with a dwarf she had just met and tossing all the time and memories she spent with the Prince of Mirkwood -his feelings, imcluded- and acting as if none of which had existed even though it is painfully obvious for everyone else. Including Tauriel herself because Celine knows that the captain is completely aware of it by now. Even a blind man would be able to read through it all by the use of his tone and choice of words whenever he's talking to her.
And so, the bluenette offered to help once more. Shocking every elf involved.
"This is precisely what I was telling you to avoid doing, Celine." Thranduil scolded as he was the first to react, his tone taking quite an exasperated turn once all the rashness in his features had simmered down.
Legolas then shortly followed after that,
"Even though I am openly against Ada as of current, I must agree with what he had just said. This battle is no longer yours to fight, and was never yours to begin with." His brows were furrowed and seriously wanted her out of it.
She pretended not to get hurt by this and still pushed through helping them throughout the war.
Her utter loyalty for the prince and his well-being had reached it's peak during the battle, she could barely even recall a single moment back then when she had thought about her life and not the prince's.
From the very moment he and Tauriel had arrived to announce the grave news of an ambush from Gundabad, Celine had quickly left her post to come to their aid without a single question asked, even after all three elves had contradicted her proposal and not even when both father and son had already called her bravery a perilous understatement for stubborness in different contexts.
All throughout the fight, Legolas instinctively looked after Tauriel and being aware of the fact that the captain's grief would hit the prince ten fold, Celine did her very best to watch over both elves' backs, especially Legolas'.
And in the process, she had lost the only being she loved and unconditionally reciprocated her affections in equal values.
It was when she was perched on top of one of the neighboring mountains, riding Luna and shooting arrows at all the orcs who threatened her comrades when she saw Borg, Azog's right hand, preparing to stab Kili with a large wooden stake.
Lavender eyes widened and the whole world seemed to stop for a moment as Celine gazed down below to see sorrow in Tauriel's entire being- a look Legolas would not want to see on her. It's not just that, but the undefended dwarf on the verge of being killed had already became one of her trusted confidantes. He's just about the only one who knew of her adoration for the prince and even though he found that out of accident, he never pried or forced her to tell the blond elf about it. All Kili ever did was listen, toss in useful words every now and then along with a couple of jokes that were meant and had always succeeded in cheering her up.
The thing about Celine is that she never let's anything happen to the few people she had grown extremely fond of, she'd protect them regardless of the costs.
And that she did. Hopping off Luna, she stared off into the distance, praying a silent plea to the great goddesses to guide her, to give her strength to protect all those who are dear to her.
"Luna, love. We're going to have to split up, okay?" She whispered sweetly as she caressed the furry creature and pressed her cheek just on that spot beside ice-blue irises and slitted pupils. The feeling of immense dread threatening to split her into two as the tiger purred and returned her embrace.
"Good girl~" she cooed and kissed it's forehead before nuzzling her nose against the tiger's, "I love you."
Even though she could never speak, Luna returned the words with the use of her eyes and a loving stroke of her head and her huge paws against her human. Celine knew exactly what it meant, word per word.
'I love you too. It's not your fault, you never had the choice. It doesn't mean that it made me think you love me less.'
That was the last time she saw her companion with it's lively eyes and taunting stature. Pristinely fine snow white fur always combed to perfection, slight charcoal black lines that decorated the expanse of her body in such an exquisite manner, a huge build that could support 4 riders all at once, depths of aquamarine irises and an adorably pink nose and tongue. Luna had always smelled of snow and cookie dough, which is quite unheard of for a tiger, but that didn't matter. It was almost more or less always Celine's fault whenever the beast resembles a treat by scent.
It was on the much more isolated part of the mountain far from the festivities of Erebor when she finally found her only kin. After hours and hours of scouring through different mountains after defeating Azog the defiler, she finally found her.
Although in a state that she frightfully never would've ever dreamed to see her in.
Regret welled up in salty heaps that flowed like waterfalls from her tired eyes as she stared down at her fallen friend. Oh how much did she wish she could just turn her head away from the stains of angry red and burnt ashes that tainted snow white fur, to tear her eyes from that despicable sword impaled on the once great tiger's noble chest. But she couldn't, could never do so when she was the cause of it all.
"It was all my fault... " the young priestess murmured, her voice cracking after repeating the same words for the nth time, helplessly hoping it would at least make the loss a bit more bearable even though she knew it wouldn't.
At the sight of no one, she dropped to her knees and weeped her heart out once more this time. Albeit now, one thing is clear: she no longer has anyone to share her woes with.
The midnight skies had never been so dark before, it was almost as if the stars themselves are sharing her heartbreak as they hid behind turbulent clouds allowing the incoming storm to come.
The notion of getting doused in the cold downpour didn't bother her the least, hoping that she could successfully drown in it as she laid there sprawled helplessly over her tiger, not once minding that she'll get blood and ashes on her clothes.
Celine stayed there. For as long as her heart needed, for once not minding the people that might go looking for her because why would she even need to be there anymore? They're safe, she's very much unneeded in the festivities taking place inside Erebor. Hardly doubts she'll even be able to lift her body from where she lay with the heavy feeling now successfully gnawing at her beaten heart.
Moments passed and the rain started pouring heavily, drenching the world below and pulling the young priestess further down the ground as she curled up into the fetal position that grew usual for both master and tiger and the apprentice could feel the coldness and loathsome presence of Death as it triumphantly stole that animal's welcoming warmth away from her.
She'd seen Death for more than a hundred times that day, but it never hit her as hard as it did that instant.
Dulling lilac hues fluttered shut, spent from all the crying she did that made up for all the times she'd kept her emotions to herself. Alone as she had always been yet never was, when Luna was still there.
Unlike now. A few pitiful hiccups escaped her rosy pink lips, gloved hands reaching up in an attempt to keep the noises to herself.
She never saw the clouds part to make way for the vivid light of the moon as it glowed upon her as if seeking to console her with its gentle pale rays of silver.
"My dear girl..." Lady Galadriel gently made her way towards the broken figure lying on the cold damp ground, reaching out to touch her novice's head before sitting down beside her, the mud not once staining her elegant robes.
Celine flinched at the sudden appearance of her mentor and quickly sat up to clear her eyes of tears and her face of the gore that had soiled her otherwise virginal skin,
"M-my lady, " she despises how her voice came out in a battered croak, "h-how surprising to find you here of all places..." She trailed off before looking around in search for some type of aversion before noticing the lady's garbs making contact with pools of murky waters that littered the dampened soil, "m-my lady! Your robes!" Celine quickly shuffled to her knees and rubbed off the dirt from her hands using her cloak before reaching out to grab the ends of the lady's dress.
Lady Galadriel lifted a mild hand up to halt her student from her abrupt panicking and held the hands that reached out to touch her clothes instead.
Lavender orbs involuntarily looked down at this, in fear that her mentor had already seen enough of her to tell that she could no longer take whatever hits the world was throwing her way. Afraid that she'd already see how much defeated and disheartened she was in such a state as this that the lady would just recall her back to Lothlorien and would finally appoint her as nothing more but a temple-maiden instead.
The lady of light of course saw through all of the young girl's uncertainties, and even though she chose not to speak of it, she knows that this brave and young little heart needed all the words of encouragement it could have this very moment,
"My darling Celine, do you know what it was that I saw in you back when you were young that I easily allowed you to go on this journey without so much as a second thought?" The lady asked, covering both of the younger one's hands in both of hers, lowering them so that it settled on the space in between them. Celine only remained silent, shaking her head a 'no', because she couldn't see anything special in herself.
This triggered the lady's melodic chuckle as her eyes shone brighter than the sun and she held her cold hands tighter before she answered, fondly -as if the young girl is her own and she was a proud mother staring into her daughter's eyes-
"It was because the moon and the stars had blessed you with such a pure and brave heart capable of selfless love to such an extent that it had already become a fault. Such a blessedly unsought fault that the world greatly needs yet overlooks both at the same time." She squeezes her child's hands before letting go to reach up and touch one reddened tear-stained cheek, her thumb lightly brushing the salty trails off.
Celine couldn't even find the force to act surprised at this, of course her mentor knew, she always does. But that doesn't mean she wouldn't ask,
"You knew?" And she finds herself completely against the idea of saying the exact thing that bothers her and so she decided to be vague, even though she knew that the lady of light would easily see through her.
A mischievous little smile crept it's way across the lady's thin lips as she spoke in quite a knowing tone,
"About your attachment to the Prince of Mirkwood? Of course I do. Your soul is that of a wanderer and you never stayed at a single location for more than a week yet you took a month in Thranduil's kingdom. If it would not be because of the prince then I would be forced to think your heart was helplessly ensnared by the king himself, although I heavily doubt that since as much as he is a fine and fair ellon he could be quite... Unconventionally detached." Galadriel finished, having difficulties describing the latter without meaning to be rude, especially in front of her student.
Seeing her student's mood brighten a little bit as a discreet little blush threatened to color her pale cheeks once more, she decided to press her luck, "although, you must know that I am not entirely erasing the possibility. The king is, after all, a pleasant sight for tired eyes." She winks.
A tiny smile made it's way across the younger girl's chapped lips as she shook her head, "if I had not known of your marriage with Lord Celeborn I'd think you've taken a rather indiscreet liking to the Elvenking, my lady."
The revered elf queen nodded her head of pristine and silken tumbles of blond waves, "indeed, but we both know you are wiser than that, my child. It is more likely you than me. Long blond hair, piercing blue eyes, mercurial personality -that seems to be your type." She chuckled and brought her apprentice's broken form within the confines of her healing embrace.
She didn't even know how it happened but Lady Galadriel had, by some miracle, managed to coax her into participating in the celebration back in Erebor.
Finally coming to the conclusion that no amount of grief would bring her fallen comrade back, she decided that she could at least prevent further concern that her absence might arouse from the people, dwarves or perhaps a few elvish warriors whom she'd grown acquainted with during battle.
She wouldn't dare hope too much for Legolas to care about her missing if Tauriel was there.
The elleth could easily take her place.
What was she thinking, she doesn't even have a place in his heart to begin with. Not even in his mind.
And so, Celine found herself slowly walking towards the huge front gates of Erebor with the same heavy feeling forever stuck in the pit of her stomach.
A lot of blood had been spilled in the war for Erebor.
A lot of lives lost, a lot of people grieving for those who fought and fell. A dark cloud had seemed to descend upon the mountain that evening as dead were carried away, and the bodies of orcs burnt. Blood soaked through the ground and would remain hidden within the earth for centuries.
But the Durin family did not belong to the ones lost.
No, Thorin had felled the Pale Orc that day on the ice, and instead of following his brother’s order to leave the tower, he had rushed back up instead and thrown himself at Fili, sending them both tumbling down the cliff. Mangled perhaps, but still very much alive. And while Fili dragged himself to help Thorin, Kili found himself busy fighting Azog’s son with two elves by his side; Tauriel and Legolas.
He was not sure who laid the death blow on the orc, for it felt as if within a blink and next, he woke in the healing wing of Erebor. Tauriel told him that after Bolg fell, so had Kili dropped down for the fall from the tower had caused some internal bleeding, next to some broken bones and gaping wounds inflicted by the enemy. Kili spent several months recovering with his family, yet his mind was not there. He had not seen Thranduil since the beginning of the war; the king had arrived at their gates on a white elk and the orcs had attacked soon after, giving him no chance to meet his lover.
The past months hurt him deeply, for he wished for nothing more than to see Thranduil and talk, maybe apologize for his reckless behavior; didn’t Thranduil tell him to be careful? To not end up hurt? Their time together in Mirkwood had been so very brief.
Despite the protests of the healers, Kili wandered down to Dale the following afternoon. Most of his weight resting on a cane, the young princeling’s gaze swept over the battlefield; the bodies had been cleared, but the stains of blood and ruins remained. He could see people, elves and dwarves work together to tend to the survivors and start planning on the rebuilding of the city. Many of them bowed their heads as Kili passed, some whispering of his shape; bandages still covered the left side of his face including his eye and the coat he wore did not hide the white fabric covering his chest, hiding more wounds underneath.
He did not care for the whispers, however, for at that moment he saw someone familiar; someone tall, someone who still made his heart jump and stomach turn with nerves.
“Thranduil?”
A Battle for Love
(Storyinfo)(Ariel falls hard for Bilbo so Ursala turns her into a human but he is heading for Erobor and she has to get through Mirkwood and Lake Town before she gets to Erobor. Along the way she'll meet new friends and gain new family. But with Smaug attacking Lake Town and the battle raging in Erobor will her love for Bilbo meet the same fate as Kili and her new best friend Tauriel?)
My name is Ariel I'm a twenty year old mermaid princess of Atlantica which is located in the lake of Lake Town. I'm the only child of King Triton, abused child for that matter my father beats me. This morning when I came up to the surface to watch the people of Lake Town which I love to do every morning. I dreamed of being human forever. I spotted fourteen men arriving on a boat. They were dwarfs but one I spotted was not a dwarf it was a Hobbit. A very hot one and I fell madly in love so that's why I'm here right now in a cave talking with the good witch Ursala who gives merpeople the power to turn from mer to human whenever they please with no payment.
   Ursala: My dear girl you will have the human life you want, be away from your horrible father, and I will help you get the man of your dreams. But this is how this is going to work the place you'll appear is not far from where the Hobbit is but I'm afraid you won't be able to see him till later and you'll see him. When you do see him his name is Bilbo. Now are you reading child?
   Ariel: Yes please
   There was a bright blue flash then all of sudden Ariel was human, wearing a knee length, sleeveless, white dress with red and blue butterfly's on it with white sandals and was standing in Mirkwood forest. As she turned around she saw a blond elf walking towards her.
   Thranduil: Excuse miss are you alright? Do you have a home?
   Ariel: No I don't have a home, my father beats me that's not a home.
   Thranduil: Well that's all going to change, come live with me and my people. Be my daughter and part of my army Mirkwood will be your home and I would never harm you.(extended his hand)
   She trusted Ursala that this was meant to happen in order to have her true love so she took his hand and went with him. She became Ariel Greenleaf daughter of Thranduil, sister of Legoles, best friend to Tauriel, and one of the best fighters in Thranduil's army. In time Ariel told Legoles, Thranduil, and Tauriel where she comes from and why she there. They all still accepted her but Thranduil dismissed her love for Bilbo and told her “You’re not just a princess from birth you're a princess because you're my daughter. And being my daughter you belong in Mirkwood and nowhere else and as the king's daughter you will not pledge yourself to that Shire rat". Legoles agreed with his father but being in love with Kili Tauriel understood Ariel and the two ran away to not only help in the fight but to find their loves.
   Lake Town Bard's house
   Tauriel and Ariel were about to leave when they saw Bofur coming up the stairs.
   Tauriel: Athelas(Whispered taking the plant)
   Bofur: What are you going to do?
   Tauriel: I'm going to save him(Whispered)
   Not long after she healed Kili everyone heard a noise Smaug was coming. Everyone quickly ran out and ran over to the boat.
    Bane: What about our dad?
    Ariel: If you stay here your sisters will die. Is that what your father would want?
    They all got in and the Fili and Bofur rowed as Smaug burned the town. They saw someone in a tower shooting arrows.
    Tilda and Sigrid: Dad(Cried)
    Ariel: Wait(Bane ran out of the boat)
    Tauriel: Leave him(Grabbed her arm)
    After what seemed like forever a dead Smaug fell to the water.
    Ariel: He did it, he killed him
    That morning Ariel and Tauriel helped the people of Lake Town as Sigrid and Tilda called desperately for their dad. Alfred saw Ariel handing out blankets.
    Alfred: Give me one of those I'll catch my death in this cold
    Ariel: Oh find your own
    Alfred: Give me that blanket(Pulled at one)
    Ariel: I'll be dead before I answer to the likes of you(Pulled the blanket away)
    Alfred: That can be arranged(Seized her arm hard and was about to slap her)
    Bard: Don't you dare touch her(Seized Alfred's arm)
    Bane tripped Alfred making him fall
    Tilda: Dad(Cried)
    Bard: Come here(Held out his arms)
    The girls ran into his arms
    A man: It was Bard he killed the dragon I saw it with my own eyes.
    Ariel: Bard where do we go for shelter?
    Bard: Were going to Erobor
    Bofur: Come on you two we got to get to Thorin(Said to Kili and Tauriel)
 Kili: Give us a sec, please come with me Tauriel(Grabbed her hands)
 Tauriel: I'll meet you there I promise but I promised Ariel I'd help her so I have to travel to Erober with her.
    Kili: At least take this(Took out the stone)
    Tauriel: It was a promise from your mother keep it
    They were about to kiss but then stopped
    Tauriel: My lord Legoles(Said in Elvish)
    Legoles: Leave dwarf
    He did
    An elf: Lord Legoles Lady Ariel you are to return to your father at once.
    Legoles: Come Ariel and Tauriel
    The elf: Not Tauriel she has been banished(Said in Elvish)
    Legoles was so furious that he decided to not only give in helping with the fight but help Ariel and Bilbo be together. Even help Tauriel and Kili be together cause he knew now she loved him not Legoles and that he had to get over it and that he couldn't force her.
    Ariel: I'm not going anywhere(Said fiercely)
    Legoles: You don't have to I'm going with both of you
    The 3 left later all of the Lake Town people arrived in Erobor.
    Bard: Get some fires going, Alfred take the night watch
    Fires were built and wounded were healed.
    The morning
    A man: The children are starving we don't have enough food
    Bard: Do what you can, any news from the night watch Alfred?
    Alfred: Quiet as a mouse sir nothing gets pass me
    They walked outside and saw an army of elves
    Bard: Except for an army of elves
    The elves let Bard through and let the people take all the food and drink from the carts.
    Bard: You saved us I don't know how to thank you(Said to Thranduil)
    Thranduil: I'm not here for you I'm here to reclaim something that is mine. A gem in the mountain that I to desire, a gem of pure and beautiful starlight.(Talking about Ariel)
    Bard rode on a horse over to the mountain
    Bard: Hail Thorin, will you please speak with me?
    Thorin nodded and went downstairs they looked at each other through a hole in the door.
    Thorin: I'm listening
    Bard: On behalf of the people of Lake Town I ask that you honor your pledge. A share of the treasure so they might we build their lives. My people offered you help and all you bring upon them is ruin and death. A bargain was struck!
    Thorin: A bargain? What choose do we have but to barter our birth right for blankets and food? Tell me Bard the dragon slayer why should I honor such terms?
    Bard: Because you gave us your word, does that mean nothing?
    Thorin: Be gone(Yelled)
     Bard hit the wall furiously and left both Lake Town and the dwarfs got ready for war. Then Bard, Thranduil, and all the elves marched over to the mountain.
    Bard: Thanks for the Arkenstone, you may have it back but first you must honor your word.(Took out the Arkenstone then put it away)
    Thorin: The Arkenstone is in this mountain it's a trick(Yelled)
    Bilbo: It's no trick it's real I gave it to them, I was going to give it to you many times but-
    Thorin: But what you miserable rat?
    Bilbo: You've changed Thorin the dwarf I met in Bag End would have never gone back on his word. Or doubt the loyalty of his kin.
    Thorin: Do not speak to me of loyalty, toss him over!
    Thorin: Did you not hear me?!(Seized Fili then let go)
    Thorin: I'll do it myself curse you(Seized Bilbo)
    Gandalf: Return my burglar to me(Came walking)
    Bofur grabbed Bilbo as Thorin let him go
    Bofur: Go
    Bilbo climbed down by a rope
    Bard: Are we resolved? The Arkenstone for what was promised, give us your answer, will you have peace or war?
    Thorin: I will have war
    Dain Ironfoot and his army arrived but so did Azog and his army. The war began.
    In Erobor
    Legoles: Gandalf(Arrived on a horse with Ariel and Tauriel
    Gandalf: Legoles Greenleaf(Legoles and the girls walked over to him)
    Legoles: There's a second army coming  Gundabad orcs there almost upon us
    Gandalf: They'll be going to the North
    Bilbo: The North, where is the North?
    Gandalf: Ravenhill
    Bilbo: Ravenhill, Thorin is up there, and Fili and Kili their all up there
    A elf horn went off
    Gandalf: My lord dispatch this force to Ravenhill the dwarfs are about to be over run. Thorin must be warned(Walked over to him followed by Bilbo and Ariel)
    Thranduil: By all means warn him I have shed enough elf blood for this cursed land.
    Bilbo: I'll go
    Gandalf: Don't be ridiculous you’ll never make it
    Bilbo: Why not?
    Gandalf: Because they will see you coming and kill you
    Bilbo: No they won't they won't see me
    Gandalf: It's out of the question
    Bilbo: I wasn't asking for permission Gandalf
    Ariel: Wait I'll go with you
    Thranduil: No you will not we are going back to Mirkwood. Help me find your brother now that's an order.
    Ariel: Watch me!
    Bilbo and Ariel left
    Ravenhill(After Bilbo and Ariel found Thorin and after Fili's death)
    Orcs started coming towards them but Dwalin came running and fought them off. Ariel helped him as Bilbo threw rocks at the Orcs Dwalin and Ariel succeed in killing all the Orcs that went at them but not before one knocked out Bilbo. Ariel slipped a note in Bilbo's pocket and then sat down next to Bilbo watching over him with her sword ready to defend him and waiting for him to wake up. Dwalin left Ariel saw eagles starting to arrive Bilbo groaned as he woke up he looked over and saw Ariel sitting next to him then looked at what Ariel was staring at.
    Bilbo: The eagles are coming(Whispered)
    Ariel heard him
    Ariel: You’re awake, are you okay?
    Bilbo: I think so, who are you? You followed me to warn Thorin and you watched over me and wouldn't leave my side when I got knocked out, why?(Sat up)
    Ariel: I slipped that letter in your pocket in case I died while defending you while you were knocked out but I guess you don't need it. I'm a mermaid princess and I saw you and your friend's on Bard's boat arriving in Lake Town. The minute I saw you I fell hard for you so I asked a good lake witch to give me the ability to turn into a human. Thranduil adopted me but he turned out to be a horrible father once I told him the reason I was on land. Not worse than my real farther though my real father beats me.
    Bilbo was mind blown by the time she was done.
    Bilbo: Well now that you found me like you wanted what's your plan now?
    Ariel grabbed his face and kissed him he could not figure out what this gorgeous, hot, tough, and brave princess saw him. But he didn't care he'll take it she stopped.
    Ariel: I'm Ariel
    Bilbo: Bilbo Baggins
    Ariel: I know, the lake witch told me
    They stood up and saw Thorin below who soon collapsed to the ground. They gasped and made their way down and ran over to a coughing bleeding Thorin.
    Thorin: Bilbo(Gasped)
    Ariel: Don't move don't move lie still
    Thorin: Bilbo forgive me I was to blind to see, you’re the best friend I ever had I love you. I'm so sorry, farewell master Baggins go back to your books and your armchair. Plant your trees watch them grow.
    Bilbo: No no no no no Thorin(Cried desperately as he took Thorin's hand)
    Thorin died Bilbo cried hard in Ariel's arms making her cry too.
    Where Tauriel is holding Kili's dead body
    Thranduil walked over to her
    Tauriel: Their going to bury him(Whispered)
    Thranduil: Yes
    Tauriel: Why does love hurt so much?(Crying)
    Tranduil: Because it's real
     Thranduil apologized to Ariel and let her go she went home with Bilbo and they were married and had a son named Frodo. The letter she wrote him was framed in his and Ariel's room. To Ariel the Shire was more beautiful than any lake or royal kingdom and the people were kind and welcoming.
    The Shire years later(Bilbo's 101 birthday)(Ariel didn't  make it that long she died at 90)
    There was a knock on the door
    Bilbo: No more birthday wishes(Yelled)
    Gandalf: Not even from old friends
    Bilbo knew that voice he smiled as he walked over to the door and opened it.
    Bilbo: Gandalf(Said happily)
    Gandalf: Bilbo Baggins(Smiled)
    Bilbo: Gandalf(They hugged)
The Three Women Of Durin - A Second Awakening (53)
MASTERLIST FOR THIS STORY
Tumblr media
(not my gif)
Thorin and Fili briskly walked together, weaving in and out of sick beds and the drained people who lay prisoner inside them. Thorin wondered what Fili was so desperate about him seeing, but found that he didn’t have the energy to be bothered about it too much, he simply allowed himself to be dragged by his nephew through the winding corridors of Erebor, his feet dragging underneath him.
Thorin during this time peeked a look at his eldest sister-son. Fili had grown wild since that day, losing hours and days of sleep because he simply couldn’t get his brain to stop whirring. He was the only one out of the remaining company that knew that himself, Kili and Thorin were supposed to die instead, and this one thought had completely and utterly consumed him. He had taken up a leading role to busy himself on the days where Thorin’s presence couldn’t be found. He organised the sick beds, he made sure they had enough supplies and he bid his farewells to Thranduil on behalf of the company (he also found rooms for Legolas who talked about leaving with Elrond and Tauriel who decided to stay with Legolas until he left).
Fili had stepped up because he didn’t know what else to do. The pain he, his brother and his uncle were sharing was too deep to be mended with talking to one another, they needed space from each other, they needed space from everyone. But, when you have certain blood running through your veins, you can’t afford to turn your back on the world.
Fili would like to say that he was handling the loss of his three friends well, but by this point, he would be only kidding himself. When the sun was up he put on a dry face, with a soft smile and crinkled eyes, but when the stars prickled across the blackened sky…well, he mourned them.
But it was only when a worried and fanatic Kili had shown up on his doorstep that morning had he been to see them, and that was exactly where he was taking Thorin. When Thorin noticed the place they were heading he thought surely not. But as they grew closer, the lower Thorin’s heart sank into his chest. What was Fili up to?
“Fili, why are you taking me there?” Thorin asked calm, there was no point in freaking out.
“Kili came to my door this morning,” Fili responded after a beat, Thorin had been a bomb recently, say the wrong thing, do the wrong action, and he would explode, “Apparently he’s been spending his time with them…he can’t seem to leave them alone,”
“Oh,” Another reason for Thorin’s heart to hurt, “But why are you taking me?”
“Kili said something was wrong, he couldn’t explain it but…” Fili paused walking turning to face his uncle with unsure eyes, watching carefully at Thorin’s reaction, “He said, he thought he saw them breathing,” Thorin didn’t say anything for a minute, a confusing silence crashing onto the small stone corridor.
“You sound unsure,” Thorin decided to respond with.
“Well,” Fili sighed, walking on, “We’ve all taken this badly haven’t we? Kili’s young, and he’s spent a lot of time in that room, there is a possibility that he’s seeing things. I guess he’s lost all hope so he’s searching for it,”
Thorin walked next to Fili in silence, the conversation dropping off into nowhere. When did he become so grown up? The thought rattled around Thorin’s head like his footsteps rattled around the mountain. Fili had a strong exterior on the outside, he always did, and Thorin couldn’t help but think that he would make the best king Erebor had seen in a long while. As Thorin closed in on the room he had left behind 29 days ago, Thorin thought of Kili. Fili was right, the young lad had been through so much trauma in the past few weeks for someone his age. Hope of the girls being alive shouldn’t be a question anymore, the hope they needed was one of learning to survive without them. But Thorin couldn’t help himself from thinking, what if?
Kili sat with wild eyes and wild hair, he was hunched over stone steps, head in hands, elbows on knees. And when Thorin and Kili walked he scrambled to his feet, more hysterical than excited.
“Kili,” Thorin said coolly whilst looking him up and down, he’s a mess.
“Uncle,” Kili responded, his voice short and sharp.
“Fili told me you might have seen something strange going on with the girls,” The word ‘girls’ got caught in Thorin’s throat but he disguised it with a cough, although, the people who surrounded him in that moment were the last people Thorin needed to put a brave face on for.
“Um, yeah,” Kili got out, he sounded unsure, “Last night I was…here, and I thought I saw the girls breathing,” Kili managed to get out. He looked and sounded rather mental.
“Kili…” Thorin breathed softly, “The girls, are dead, I know this is hard but-” Thorin began but was cut off.
“No,” Kili spluttered, “No I swear!” He turned to his brother.
“Kili…” Fili simply said in a pitying voice, he reached out for Kili who simply brushed him off.
“No!” He said rather loudly, “I’ve spent a lifetime of not being taken seriously because of the number of years I’ve walked on this planet. I know how you think of me. I know, that you think that because I’ll never be the king that I can’t act like one! The blood that runs through your veins, runs through mine. Don’t forget that,”
“Kili, we’re not questioning your authority, we’re questioning your judgement,” Thorin said sternly, unfortunately, this was the first time he had felt like himself since, well, you know, “Do you really think you’re in the correct mindset right now to make this kind of allegation!”
“But Thorin-”
“No!” Thorin shouted, a rumble from somewhere in his chest, “You understand that you are disrespecting the dead,” Silence crashed down on the room.
Thorin walked over to his nephew’s quivering form, a silent ghost of the person who had left the blue mountains nearly a year ago. Slowly, and with gentle hands he took hold of Kili’s shoulders, forcing him to look at him.
“I know this is hard for you,” Thorin said faintly, “It’s hard for everyone.” Thorin was searching for the right thing to say, searching for words that would make the sad echo in his sister-sons eyes wisp into nothingness. “But we can’t bring back the dead,” Thorin’s voice was breaking, “All we can do right now is learn how to live with the pain. But Kili…you’re not doing yourself any good by coming back here so often. There has to come to a time where you need to stop looking into your past for happiness.”
“Stop acting like you know how I’m feeling,” Kili whispered, it was a blue attempt to try and put his emotions into words, but Thorin simply took this as an opening to impart some wisdom he had only recently learned about himself.
“I think I do. I think you’re gripping onto nostalgic thoughts to make it seem like the time you had with them was longer. I bet now they look even brighter and exultant than they did before. I bet you’re thinking you can’t ever possibly feel like that again because they’re not in your life anymore,” Thorin wasn’t just talking to Kili anymore. “But, a time will come when you will smile brightly and laugh alongside a group of people who love you.” Thorin stepped back from his nephew with a warm gaze as the wise words from a friend rung around his ears, “I’m not saying it won’t ever not hurt to think of them, I’m just saying that one day the pain won’t consume you so badly, one day you will smile and not be surprised,” The word’s seemed to be working and Thorin could sense Fili’s presence behind him, all three of the remaining Durin’s gripping onto Thorin’s speech, each and every one of them in search for something to ease the pain. This was a moment to remember.
Thorin smiled once more at his young nephew before stepping back a little further and turning to see Fili who was staring right back at him. Fili touched his heart with a soft smile before reaching his hand out to Thorin, an action which he returned before turning away from his nephews and towards the bodies of the deceased. There were at least one hundred more gifts laid out on and around their stones. Notes, flowers, stones, gems and jewels, and so much more. There were more candles as well, they brightened up the room, making it feel less lonely than Thorin remembered it to be. Thorin was just about to turn and walk out, a new comfort settled in his stomach when his youngest nephew once more spoke up.
“I’d still like you to check them,” Kili’s frail voice echoed around the room, “Please…it’ll put my mind to rest,” Thorin felt his shoulders sink a little, but, one last moment of weakness wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Thorin smiled a sad smile at his nephew before turning back to the girls. He made his way forward, picking his way over candles and cards to the closest body, which he knew was Cece before even looking. Bearing himself, he peered down, how long had it been since he had seen her? how long had it been since he had pictured her face? Cece lay peacefully, flowers intertwined in her locks of blonde, the candlelight flickering across healthy skin and plump red lips. She looked as if she were simply in a deep sleep, and yet, there was no air passing between her lips, no beat of her heart no hum of her voice. No signs of life.
Thorin stepped back from the table, again careful not to trip over curling candles. It was hard now, to look away, for a few seconds he didn’t even know if he could. He had spent nights and days wasted on an ocean of nostalgia, the good, the bad and all that fell between, and yet standing here in front of his friend, he observed how she hadn’t changed at all, not one bit. She still had her youthful glow, her features were as soft as always and it hurt to know the ferocity that used to lie between that perfect image of innocence. Thorin was paying such close attention to detail that he could even see a few beads of sweat dancing their way down her forehead.
Thorin stumbled backwards, crushing a handful of gifts as he did so, his footsteps now loud as they echoed throughout the baron room. Cece hadn’t changed a bit in 29 days. Now, Thorin was no medical expert but he was aware from his past experience with dead bodies, that by now, rigour mortis should have kicked in, the body should have changed colour, blistering should have occurred, and a whole other load of quite disgusting traits. Not only Cece, but Frankie and Rosie also were in the prime of their health (well, if you ignore the bump on Cece’s head, the cuts and bruises that pitter-pattered across Frankie and Rosie’s wound).
“Thorin what is it?” Fili spoke from a distance away, arms folded, his featured doused in curiosity. Thorin tore his eyes away from the three bodies and gaped at his nephews with wild eyes, could this truly be happening? “Thorin,” Fili prompted again.
“Get Oin, now,”
The entire company stood at the side, breaths being held as no one said a word waiting for Oin to give a final statement. Only a few minutes ago Fili had rushed outside the room, his footsteps echoing further and further away as Kili sunk back down to the floor slowly rocking himself backwards and forwards. Fili managed to get a hold of Oin and, once he discussed the matter in hushed tones, the entire company, minus Gandalf, had made their way to the room, sprinting as quietly as they could.
They soon poured into the room, frantically asking questions as they glared at the line of Durin. And soon, before they knew it, the area was being cleared of all gifts and Oin was setting up to work, taking a medical check-up of all the girls.
“Is it even healthy to think there’s a possibility that they’re…” Dwalin trailed off in a hushed tone as he spoke to Thorin, the pair was standing to the side, their eyes fixed on one point. Thorin glanced at where Oin’s hand was currently on top of Rosie’s rib cage, searching for any breath, Thorin couldn’t see any movement but his hope was not tainted.
“One last moment of weakness,” He muttered under his breath, not sure if Dwalin even heard him. They stayed like that for a while, the company in silence as Oin worked his magic. But, eventually, Oin packed up his medical equipment with shaky hands and approached the group.
“They're a bit bruised n' battered,” Oin stared straight at Thorin as he said this, but his mind was somewhere else, something rushing around his head as he thought frantically. “But…” Oin trailed off.
“But,” Thorin said softly, trying to calm his quivering voice. Oin smoothly came back to reality, his eyes focusing gently on Thorin, his bottom lip quivering.
“They’re breathing,”
  1 hour later
The room had turned into complete and utter chaos. The entire area had been cleared as high tech medical equipment was rolled into the room, trolley after trolley of sharp metal tools, basins of water and a variety of herbs and essences. Gandalf had been notified of the occurrences and he had rushed down with Lord Elrond and a handful of elves who were the most experienced in medics. The girls now had pillows under their heads and blankets under their bodies, as they were slipped out of their armour, so their breathing could be monitored.
Thorin had turned numb. Everything around him had this magical aura that made his brain ache and eyes burn, nothing looked real anymore. His vision had sunk somewhere back into his skull as everything now had a wishy-washy border and his stomach was constantly churning, turning over and over and over. He had resided onto the steps as talk was happening all around him, people moving, medics calling out numbers that would be noted down on sheets of paper. The world was spinning violently all around him and, yet he could only sit and stare, not able to even begin a train of thought for what he was feeling. Suddenly he was pulled from his dreamy state.
“Thorin,” Came the voice of Elrond, Thorin stood in respect of the wise elf, he’d come a long way, “I have had some of my best medicals reviewing the situation, and they have concluded that yes, the three girls are alive,” Air was quickly sucked through Thorin’s teeth, Elrond, although grimacing continued, “They believe that Rosie, Frankie and Cece are in coma-like states…I guess it’s safe to say that we’ve never seen this happen before, we don’t know what’s going on, but then again that’s always been the case with those three. Right now, we can only hope to learn more when they awake,”
“They’re going to wake up?” Thorin asked, Elrond’s voice was cutting right through the blurry noise around them, searing right into the core of Thorin’s brain.
“Yes Thorin,” Elrond paused as if not sure whether to share this information, “They’re waking up right now,”
Thorin was currently stationed at the end of Rosie’s ‘bed’. She was just like he remembered, the only differences were those that the doctors and nurses had inflicted upon her. Her hair had been cropped a few inches shorter, it now sat around her neck and framed her face a little better, there was a reason for this, something medical, something Thorin had forgotten as soon as the nurse had told him. Her shirt was pulled up to her ribcage to reveal her entire stomach bandaged thickly, her gash turning out to be not as severe as it looked.
To say that Thorin was scared was an understatement. Well, to say that Thorin was feeling anything was an understatement. It felt as though he was sensing everything at once, like all the emotion that had slowly been rung out of him over the past few weeks had sprung up on him all at once. He was watching numbly as an elf wiped away some of the sweat on her forehead with a clean cloth before grinding some herbs in a small wooden bowl.
He concentrated on how the elf’s hands methodically worked, a series of repeated movements. They had structure, organisation and repetition, three traits that had been missing from Thorin’s life in the past year. But then, the bowl was clattering out of the elf’s hands and onto the stone bench as she turned around frantically signalling for another elf doctor a few meters away.
This is where everything happened. People began rushing around like there was no tomorrow, an excited and confused hum began to grow in the room and more and more people began to crowd around Rosie. Thorin didn’t need a doctor to know what was going on. I’m not ready, was the first thought that came to his mind. God, he spent weeks grieving and mourning and he was sure he was going to spend many more, and now, in the space of a few hours, everything had changed.
“Thorin,” He was pulled from his thoughts by a familiar voice, turning he looked up to be greeted with Gandalf’s wise eyes, “Thorin, we’d like for your face to be the first she sees. Normally, we would ask Frankie or Cece but, well…” Thorin expressionlessly nodded in response. Remaining where he stood at the end of the bed as Rosie was propped a little higher on her pillows.
“We’ve got a pulse,” Someone said, but they were far, far away. Thorin felt the breath being knocked out of him as he realised that this was real, this was happening. The world around him came to a standstill, people stopped talking, people stopped doing, people stopped, and they stared. So Thorin scraped out his mind for the right thing to say, words to perfectly express that he was here, right by her and, that he was never leaving ever again. But of course, his mind simply came up blank. So, he settled for a name.
“Rosie,” The word felt weird in his mouth and the fact that he hadn’t said her name in 29 days settled in. Her face, her smile, her weird laugh and her witty words had consumed him these past few weeks, and yet her name had never passed past his lips.
“Rosie,” He said stronger now, something pleading in his voice, and yet she didn’t respond. God how he wished they were alone, if they were alone he wouldn’t feel this heavyweight the status ‘king’ had always come along with, but, he knew that this moment wasn’t just important for him. Rosie was not just his lover, she was so much more to so many more.
Slowly, and then all at once, Rosie’s eyes trembled under underneath her eyelashes before they fluttered open, delicate as a feather. The entire room held their breath as she took low, deep ones, filling the silence with the sound of life. Her baby blues were glossy, unfocused and tainted with confusion as she examined the ceiling above her. Thorin couldn’t take being so far away, he shuffled through the bodies of medics, his heart beating in his throat as he crouched down next to her, his weight causing her to flicker her eyes on him. Her eyes, those beautiful eyes were once more staring at him, but he saw no acknowledgement shining back at him.
“Rosie,” He didn’t know what else to say, he had no other words. The idea that she might not recognise him when she woke didn’t even cross his mind. Rosie simply furrowed her eyebrows slightly as she peeked down at where his hand was gripping on hers. She stared at it for a moment before closing her eyes, letting her head loll back onto the pillow, her eyebrows still intertwined
“Rosanna,” It was a final plea. A desperate note. An unforgiving moment. Rosie’s brows relaxed as her face became once more calm and emotionless, and for a few seconds, it felt as though Rosie hadn’t heard him and the tension in the room neared a breaking point. But then, there was a soft smile and,
“I thought I told you to never to call me that again,”
Over the Mountains - Chapter 8
Kili was not doing well. They had managed to convince Bard to let them stay at his place after almost everyone, especially the town master, turned them out. Kili was writhing in pain on the bed and while Fili was trying to keep him calm, Oin was trying to figure out what to do.
"This is unlike anything I have ever dealt with," Oin admitted. "Sepha?"
Sepha shook her head, "The arrow was poisoned. We need to stop it from spreading before it kills him."
"What do you need?" Bofur asked.
Sepha sighed and shook her head, "Kingsfoil... and quickly."
The dwarf nodded and bolted off to search for the said weed. It seemed forever that he was gone. Sepha sat next to Kili and kept whispering to him, humming but he was in too much pain.
"What is taking him so long?" Fili insisted, getting worried.
Sepha shook her head but she was cut off by the sound of footsteps above them..... there was dead silence.... then out of nowhere Sigrid, who had gone out to look for their father, let out a scream and came running back in with an orc close behind. Fili was on the orc in an instant while the two girls hid under the table. Bain tried his hardest to help by throwing things at the orcs but there were more and more coming.
Sepha covered Kili with a blanket and looked around. She saw Fili almost hurt himself knocking an orc down and she felt fury rise in her body. She remembered the promise she made to Thorin, telling him she would protect his nephews no matter what. No one was going to touch Fili or Kili when she was on duty.
Her hair suddenly turned a bright purple and she missed the shocked look on Kili's face when her eyes turned a shade of violet and she morphed into a giant wolf. She let out an angry growl and pounced on the orc who was giving Fili a hard time. She grabbed him by the head and swung him out the window, growling angrily with her hair standing up. FIli looked at her surprised but smiled.
"Take care of Kili," the girl instructed.
Fili nodded and rushed back to his brother's side, leaving Sepha to deal with the orcs. Just when she thought that there couldn't be anymore, more came through the front door.... .and with them.... two familiar elves.
"Tauriel!" Sepha cried.
"What have you gotten yourself into?" the elf asked teasingly, killing an orc.
"Didn't we warn you to stay out of trouble?" a familiar voice asked, turning out to be Legolas.
Sepha smiled, "I cannot help it."
The two elves smiled and began to make quick work of the orcs. Sepha made a leap over the table and knocked down two orcs who had gone for the children. Soon, there weren't any orcs left.
"You killed them all," Bain gasped.
"There are others," Legolas remarked.
Tauriel turned and looked at kili who was writhing on the floor in pain. She lifted her eyes and looked at Legolas who stood in the doorway. The elf nodded.
"I'll be back."
Tauriel nodded thankfully and just then, Bofur came back, carrying kings foil.
Tauriel approached him and began talking to Oin and Fili while Sepha morphed back to human.
"How did you do that?" Tilda asked, staring.
Sepha smiled, "It's a long story."
"Kili's getting worse," Tauriel warned her, "We need to hold him down. I need you to heat this water Sepha."
Sepha obeyed and making a flame in her hand, she warmed the water that Tilda had prepared and Tauriel placed the kings foil in it, soaking it enough. She then placed it on Kili's wound and he howled. Fili held him down and Sepha helped him while Tilda and Sigrid held down his legs.
Soon, Tauriel began to chant in Elvish and Sepha could feel the power of the Ethalas healing Kili. Soon, the young dwarf relaxed under her hold and she released him.
Sepha pulled Fili away from his brother so that Tauriel could finish patching him up and also, Sepha knew that Tauriel probably wanted a moment alone with the dark dwarf.
"Thanks," FIli whispered.
Sepha was taken aback, "For what?"
"For being here," Fili replied. "You could have gone with uncle.... but you stayed here with us and if you hadn't, we might have all been dead."
Sepha smiled and hugged the young dwarf, "You would have found a way, but I'm glad I was here."
Suddenly, the whole house went dead silent when the ground suddenly rumbled beneath them. The house shook and Fili stumbled but Sepha caught him by his forearm.
"What was that?" FIli insisted, fear in his eyes.
Sepha looked around and she felt a horrible feeling when she realized what it was.
"It's coming from the mountain," Bofur whispered.
Fili looked at Sepha only to see that the girl had gone deadly pale, "Thorin..."
The dwarves and Bilbo were all standing on the tower of dale, looking out at lake town. It was up in flames.... Smaug soaring overhead.
"Poor souls," Balin whispered.
He turned and noticed that Dwalin was pacing, "Brother, there is nothing that pacing can fix."
"I cannot help it," Dwalin admitted, "All of them: Oin, Bofur, Fili, Kili.... Sepha... they're all dying down there and its all our fault."
Bilbo heard this and turned to look back at THorin. The dwarf was standing a ways behind them, watching Erabor. What no one saw was that the dwarf's face was deathly pale and there were tears streaming down his face.
Sepha.... his love.... his One was dying by the fire of a dragon.... and it was his fault. He would never see her again.... she was gone.
He remembered back to the day he left... how they had parted... how she had told him that she loved him. His hand went up and touched the silver bead that was in his hair. He caressed it gently and brought it up to his lips, pressing it to his mouth while he closed his eyes and let the quiet sobs overtake him.
It seemed like years he was standing there, Sepha's green eyes on his mind when suddenly he heard Bilbo.
"It fell I saw it.... he's dead.... Smaug is dead."
He suddenly heard all the other dwarves begin to agree with Bilbo and soon the dwarves were cheering. Thorin smiled and he looked up to the sky at the plane of stars that hung above him.
"I love you Sepha," he whispered before his eyes fell on Erabor..... then something changed. The bright color in his eyes changed to darkness and his face hardened..... then he went hurrying down the stairs straight to the mountain, having completely forgotten what he had just said not a second before. His mind was on one thing only and it wasn't on the brown haired, green eyed girl who was sitting in a boat with Tauriel, trying to escape the burning town.
MEANWHILE.... With the others
"KIli watch out," Sepha warned, reaching over to pull the dwarf back to avoid a floating piece of burning lumber.
Kili stumbled in the boat and sat down, pressing his back against Sepha's so that they were facing different directions. Tilda was sitting next to Sepha, her head against Sepha's chest while the girl was trying to comfort the child. Sigrid was holding Tilda's hand and trying not to cry herself.
Fili helped Tauriel and Bofur row while Oin looked out for floating debris.
"I'm so scared Sepha," Tilda whispered. "What if da and Bain didn't make it out?"
"Sh," Sepha whispered, "DOnt say such things. THey'll be fine. Your father and brother are strong. They will make it out."
"But what will happen after?" Sigrid asked. "The town is destroyed... what will become of everyone?"
Sepha looked over at Fili and Kili and shook her head, "I dont know."
Her mind wandered to THorin who was no doubt in the mountain.... was he safe? was he hurt? Had he succumbed to the sickness or was he fighting it? Was he still the same THorin he had been when they had said goodbye?
She shivered at the thought and FIli noticed for he slid over and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, "no matter what happens," he whispered. "Even if uncle has succumbed to the sickness, he still loves you."
Sepha smiled and nodded, "I hope so."
TIME SKIP
When they landed on the shore, all the surviving people of lake town were walking around, helping people or trying to find loved ones. Sigrid and Tilda were screaming for Bard and Tauriel was trying to keep them calm. Just when Sepha began to fear something had happened, Brad and Bain appeared, both soaking wet and going blue but otherwise alright.
Sigrid and Tilda practically screeched when they saw their father and soon, the whole town was surrounding Bard and congratulating him on killing the dragon. Sepha was pulled away by Oin and Bofur who soon got her to help them load a boat with some things they would need.
Sepha helped by tossing Fili things. However, she soon noticed that Kili wasnt with them. Turning around, she saw that the dark dwarf was speaking with Tauriel. Fili made a move to interrupt them but Sepha stopped him, shaking her head and smiling knowingly.
"How much do you want to bet they'll become a thing?"
Fili smirked, "You're on."
"You okay Kili?" Sepha asked.
Kili nodded, "Yeah.... just a lot on my mind."
Sepha nodded, "If you ever want to talk about it, let me know."
Kili nodded and for a while there was silence before he spoke up. Arya had walked a little ahead to catch up to Fili but at his voice she turned to look at him.
"Was there ever a time you doubted THorin loved you?"
Sepha sighed and thought about it, "Before the whole incident at Thranduil's I had my doubts. But then afterwards I realized that he did care.... but then when we reached lake town I had the horrible feeling that he didn't care about me anymore. Of course that all changed after he told me he loved me."
Kili nodded and was silent a moment till Sepha walked over and drew him in for a hug, "Tauriel loves you Kili. I can tell. Maybe you don't see it and she might not be ready to admit it but she does."
Kili hugged the girl back and smiled, "Thanks."
Sepha nodded and began to head after the others when Kili scurried after her to catch up, "Sooooooooo," he said, sounding rather mischievous. "You and uncle.... so does that make you our aunt?"
Fili seemed to catch onto the conversation immediately because he was right by his brother and Sepha in an instant.
"Well....." Sepha remarked, turning bright crimson.
"Or at least not yet," Fili remarked, putting emphasis on the 'yet'. "Auntie Sepha sounds cool though."
Sepha smirked and ruffled Fili's hair, earning a yelp from him as he hastily tried to fix it again, "And you know what my duties as an aunt will be?"
"What?" Kili asked, intrigued but Fili looked concerned.
"To see that both of you get married before you turn old and gray like me," Sepha remarked.
"You're not old and gray," Kili objected. "You're not that much older than us."
"Exactly," the girl teased, patting Kili's nose with her finger. "Which means I'll have to get on it as soon as we don't have a dragon or orcs on our tails."
"Better run for our lives brother," FIli whispered.
TIME SKIP... to the mountain.
Fili and kili had bolted into the mountain the moment they arrived and Bofur began calling for his brother and his cousin... but no reply.
"Dwalin!?" Sepha called. "Balin! Dori!"
There was no reply. They began to worry when suddenly they heard a loud voice as a particular hobbit came into view.
"Stop! Stop! Stop!"
"Bilbo!" Kili cried.
"You're alive!" Bofur hooted.
"We need to leave," Bilbo panted. "We all need to leave."
"Hello to you too Bilbo," Sepha teased.
Bofur cocked his head, "We only just got here."
"I've tried talking to him but he wont listen," Bilbo explained.
"What are you saying lad..." Oin started.
"THORIN! Thorin.... thorin," Bilbo panted. "has been down there for days. He doesn't sleep. he barely eats. He's not been himself. It's.... it's this place. I think a sickness lies on it."
Sepha felt her heart drop and she zoned out from the rest of the conversation... Thorin.... he wasn't the same.... he had fallen to the sickness...
"Fili!" Bilbo cried, snapping Sepha out of her daze.
The others followed FIli and Bilbo down to the treasure room. When they got there, they were at once hit by the sick voice of Thorin. Sepha could barely look at him and turned her face. She couldn't look at him.... she could barely listen to him... he was so sick.
After THorin had greeted Fili and Kili, Sepha followed Bilbo away from the treasure room while the others went to greet the rest of the company.
"I'm sorry Sepha," Bilbo remarked when they were alone. "I tried to talk to him..."
"It's not your fault Bilbo," Sepha whispered. "There was no way we could have prevented this unless we didn't reclaim Erabor."
Bilbo nodded, "So what do we do?"
Sepha sighed and ran her hands over her face, "I don't know... but if this gets much worse.... I don't know that I'll be able to stay."
"Why?" Bilbo inquired.
Sepha shook her head, "Because...it pains me to see Thorin like this....it hurts so bad...."
Bilbo nodded in understanding.
Just then, there was movement behind them and the two turned only to find Thorin standing at the end of the hallway, staring at them in shock. Bilbo quickly squeezed Sepha's hand.
"I'd better see where the others got to."
With that, he left the two alone, giving the girl a knowing smirk before leaving. The moment he was gone, Sepha slowly walked over to Thorin who seemed rooted to the spot. He looked horrible. He had bags under his eyes, he looked underfed... his face was pale and his eyes looked glazed.
"Thorin," she whispered, reaching up to touch his face.
Before she knew what was happening, THorin had snatched her up and had kissed her long and hard, holding her close. Sepha at first returned it but soon THorin was holding her so tight that she could barely breathe. She gently pulled away and looked up into his eyes.
"What has happened to you?" she asked.
"Nothing," Thorin replied. "Everything is wonderful now that you're here."
Sepha felt the urge to smile at those last words but she knew that this wasn't thorin.... it was only part of Thorin while the rest was a sick person.
"You look like you're ready to die," she remarked, "You need rest."
Thorin shook his head, "I need to keep searching."
"Thorin," Sepha began to say but the dwarf had pulled away and had walked off.... just like that. "I've lost you haven't I?" she mumbled, too low for his retreating form to hear.
Are you sure you're alright?" Sepha asked Kili.
The dwarf nodded as he drank the large mug of water that she had brought him. He and all the other dwarves had been searching the treasure chamber for the arkenstone all morning and they were beginning to show signs of exhaustion. Sepha had managed to get Bilbo to prepare some lunch for them so that when they took break, they could eat.
Sepha shock her head as Kili downed the water in an instant, "I don't think so Kili. You're not the first one who has drunken water like it's oxygen itself."
Kili shook his head, "I'm just thirsty is all. You should worry about Thorin more."
Sepha looked up at the balcony where Thorin was overseeing things, "I don't know what to do Kili. He wont eat or sleep and it's going to be the death of him.'
Kili smirked as he drank another mug of water, "Well, you are his one after all and you seem to have a great influence on him. You have no idea how many times I've had to snap in his face to get him out of a daze when he sees you walk past."
That was before the sickness," Sepha pointed out, trying to hide the blush that lit up her face.
Kili shrugged as he set the mug down, "Then maybe you need to be a little more persuasive."
With that, the young dwarf headed off back to searching. Sighing, Sepha decided that she had to try. Her future duty as a wife (possibly) was to care and support her husband. Even if the husband wasn't doing his part of caring and providing and protecting, she had her duty to him and she wasn't going to let him down.
"THorin," She said, coming to stand behind him.
Thorin turned and smiled at her but the smile was only half there, "Givashel," he greeted.
Sepha felt a pain in her chest. She didn't mind him calling her that but that was all he called her.... never Amaralime, love or even just Sepha.... it was like all he said had to do something with treasure or gold.
"You are tired and exhausted," The girl pointed out, coming to take his hands, "You need rest."
"No I'm fine," Thorin objected, about to turn around.
Sepha gripped his hands tighter, "No you're not fine. I'm not blind THorin. You need rest."
Thorin shook his head and turned back to the others but Sepha wasn't going to give up that easily. Grabbing his hand she spun him around and without hesitation and placed her hand on the side of his face and kissed him passionately.
Thorin froze for a second before his hands slowly trailed to her waist and to the back of her head, drawing her closer to him. When Sepha backed away, she caught a faint glimmer of the real Thorin in his eyes..... it was working.
"Come on," she whispered, taking his hand.
"What about..."THorin started.
"Dwalin can take care of it," Sepha replied, not letting THorin finish as she pulled him away from the treasure room.
When Sepha finally got him into his room, she stopped in the doorway while Thorin stepped in.
"Now get some rest," she ordered softly with a smile.
Thorin turned and looked at her, "But I'm not tired."
"Really?" Sepha inquired, "Then why do you look like you haven't slept in a week?"
Thorin smirked as he approached her. Sepha let out a soft gasp as his hands gripped her waist and he pressed her against the wall, his face inches from hers, "Because I have been away from you too long."
This was unlike Thorin completely. Even after their passionate first kiss in lake town and their small moments together, Sepha knew that this hasty, almost rough Thorin was not the Thorin she knew.
Sepha reached up and traced his features, trying to bring out the real Thorin she knew was still in there. Thorin reached his arms around her waist and pulled her into his arms bridal style. The girl wrapped her arms around his neck and looked into his eyes as he kicked the door shut with his foot and carried her to the bed.
He tossed her on and then climbed on top of her.
"Thorin," the girl warned.
THorin smiled, "I promise I'll behave," he whispered. "You're lucky I'm a patient dwarf."
Sepha rolled her eyes and smirked, "Riiiiight."
THorin grinned and Sepha saw his blue eyes flash.... Thorin was back. Before she could even register this, she was attacked by THorin who began tickling her sides. Sepha let out a roar of laughter and tried to get him to stop but he just grinned.
Finally he stopped and hovered over her while Sepha caught her breath. The girl looked up at him and smiled when she saw the gentle, calm, patient Thorin appear in his features. He reached down and gently stroked her cheek with his thumb, moving a strand of hair from her eyes.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered.
Sepha smiled just before Thorin bent down and placed a feather light kiss on her lips. He then rolled over so that he was lying on his side, as was she and they were facing each other.
He kept one hand on her waist and the other he traced her cheek with his fingers.
"I missed you Thorin," the girl whispered.
Thorin smiled and kissed her gently, "I missed you too Sepha."
the girl felt her heart soar at his voice whispering her name. THorin was back!
"Promise me something?" she whispered, curling up into his side.
"Anything," Thorin whispered back, pulling her close and burying his face in her hair.
"Dont ever forget that everyone in the company, even Bilbo and I only do what we know is best for you."
There was a silence until Thorin kissed her head and hugged her tighter, "I promise."
With a smile on her face, Sepha closed her eyes and drifted to sleep a moment before Thorin fell asleep, both of them needing the rest.
TIME SKIP... a few hours
When SEpha woke, she was surprised to hear the gentle hum of breathing beneath her ear. She glanced up and saw that she was lying on top of THorin... or at least partially. Her head fit right beneath his neck and she was lying right alongside him between his side and his arm that was still firmly around her waist.
THorin's head was facing upward and he was still asleep. He looked so peacefully lying there.
Sepha reached up and gently ran her fingers through his beard, smiling at how soft it seemed even though most beards were coarse and prickly. THorin stirred at her movements and slowly turned and opened his blue eyes to look at her. He smiled when he saw her lying next to him her chin on his chest and her eyes smiling.
"Good morning," he whispered.
"Morning," Sepha hummed, "How did you sleep?"
"Incredibly well," Thorin whispered back. "I think the best part was waking up."
Sepha smiled as she sat up and planted a kiss on his lips before getting up. She had slept in her leather outfit but she didn't mind. She headed to the bathroom to wash up. When she returned, THorin was gone.... oh no.
Sepha?" Fili's voice appeared from behind.
Sepha was standing on the stairs, sitting with her knees drawn to her chest. She looked up and FIli saw that she had been crying.
"Sepha what happened?" Fili asked, sitting down beside her.
Sepha shook her head, "Everything Fi. Thorin is falling apart. The other night I thought that he was changing back.... but that is the last time he has spoken to me in almost two days! he wont even look at me! Fili... he's gone."
Fili sighed and drew the girl into a hug. The girl placed her face in his lap and let the sobs overtake her as the boy stroked her hair and rubbed her back.
"Sh," Fili whispered. "It's going to be okay."
Sepha sniffled and took a deep breath, "I cannot stay here."
"What?" Fili asked, startled.
Sepha sat up and wiped her eyes, "I cannot stay here. I'm going to Dale. Bard has arrived with the people of lake town and they need help. I'll stay there and help in anyway I can."
"What if they rage war on us?" Fili asked.
"They wont," Sepha replied. "Unless Thorin succumbs to being the jerk he has been the past few days."
Fili sighed and nodded his head, "I understand. What will happen if they do?"
Sepha shrugged, "I'll try to talk sense to him... if that doesn't work.... I don't know."
Fili bowed his head but Sepha hugged him, "No matter what Fi, you and Kili will always have a place in my heart."
FIli smiled and hugged the girl back, letting a few tears fall.
"Take care of yourself Auntie," he whispered.
Sepha smiled and pressing her forehead to his, she gave him a final hug before disappearing. She stopped on her way out to say goodbye to Bilbo and the other dwarves but of course Thorin wasn't around. In that case, she went down to the treasure room and sure enough, she found him there.
"Thorin," the girl called.
Thorin looked up but didn't smile, "What?"
"I'm leaving," Sepha remarked. "I'm going to dale for a while to help Bard."
"YOu're turning on us?" Thorin asked, not even thinking that she was doing this because she was uncomfortable being around him.
Sepha shook her head, "I'm not. I just need some fresh air from the mountain. I'm not used to being indoors all the time."
THorin stormed over to her and glowered down at her, "I always knew that you weren't fit for this life. You're more elf than dwarf. Just like the rest of them: weak, self centered.... heartless."
The sound of the smack echoed through the whole treasure room and Thorin's head snapped back when Sepha's hand made hard contact with his cheek. he turned to glare at her with his blue eyes but stopped when he saw the tears streaming down her face. The remaining bit of the real thorin suddenly shot out and his face was filled with guilt.
"Sepha i..."
"Dont even speak to me," Sepha hissed, "You say that I am weak, self centered and heartless when you are really the one who is. You were constantly saying you weren't your grandfather and you wouldn't fall victim to the sickness! Well look at where you are! You did fall to it! You fell to it just like your grandfather! You promised me THorin! You promised that you would trust me and the company in whatever we do because we do all of it out of love for you!"
Without another word, she spun on her heel and headed for the exit. She stopped when she got there and seemed to be doing something. Turning around, she stomped back to Thorin and placed something on the stone slab that stood nearby.
"Only the real Thorin will have the honor of putting this back in," she spat.
With tears streaming down her eyes, she left in a rush. Thorin turned his glossy eyes to the slab and saw the single silver bead.... his bead.....he turned his eyes at where she had disappeared and his heart broke right then and there. What had he done?
***********
"Sepha," Sigrid whispered.
The quarter breed lifted her furry head from where she had been resting it on her front paws and considered Sigrid with her bright violet eyes.
"I know you're hurting but you're going to make yourself sick," the girl pointed out. "You have to eat and sleep. You haven't since you came here. Besides that, you haven't morphed back to human either."
Sepha didn't reply but laid her head back down. Sigrid sighed.
"And you haven't spoken since you got here either."
Sepha shook her head. Honestly, she didn't have anything to say. Food was tasteless to her and rest could never come. She was sitting at the very far back of Dale, as far from the mountain as possible and most of the time, she had all the children of lake town playing around and over her. She would occasionally get up from her lying position to help carry things or to give the children wolf rides around the city but not once did she let her violet eyes lay on the mountain that stood at their doorstep.
She didn't even bark, growl or even purr. Once, Tilda had found her soft spot behind her ears (in human form it was her back) and scratched there, reaching the parts that were hard to itch when in wolf form. Sepha had thought that she would naturally purr at the comforting feeling but she couldn't.... it was like her body didnt want to make a noise anymore.
"Father has gone to speak with the dwarves," Bain said, hurrying over.
Sigrid tried to give her brother a warning look but Bain missed it and Sepha slowly turned so that she was hiding her face behind her large body.
"Sorry Sepha," Bain whispered. "I forgot."
Sepha shook her head and gave the boy a soft look with her violet eyes, telling him that she wasn't upset with him.
Bain came and sat down beside the girl and Sepha laid her large head on Bain's knee, allowing the boy to stroke her head (which was her hair in human form)
Finding that she wasn't needed, Sigrid went off to look out for her father.
"Sepha," Bain whispered. "Do you love Thorin?"
There was a long painful silence. Did she love him? Sepha knew that at one time or another she did love him.... but did she still love him even though the sickness had destroyed the good in him? Did she still love him.
She taught back to two nights prior when she had managed to get THorin to rest. She had seen a spark of the old Thorin in there....it was like he was still there but something... something big had to break him free.
Slowly, the girl nodded her head and Bain smiled. He wrapped his arms around the girl's furry neck and hugged her.
"I'm glad."
Sepha lifted her eyes and looked at the boy, puzzled.
Bain smiled, "I'm glad because I see bits of da in Thorin. You might not see it because you don't know my da like I do but.... after ma died, da would get this faraway look. His eyes looked like they were in another world and he would zone out. Then whenever he looked at me or the girls... his eyes would light up. Whenever Tilda or Sigrid did something that reminded him of ma, his eyes were start to shine like stars. THat's when I knew he was happy because he could still see ma in us."
Sepha found herself smiling in spite of herself at hearing those words. Bain was so young, yet so wise and observant.
"It's the same with you and THorin," Bain continued, "For the short time you were in lake town, whenever you weren't around Thorin would look just like my da when he was thinking of ma.... kind of far away in another world and all zoned out and almost unhappy. Then when you came into the room, it was just like when da saw ma in Tilda or Sigrid. Thorin's eyes would shine the exact same way and he would look like the happiest man on earth."
The girl turned her head and looked at Bain a moment, sitting back on her haunches. Bain smiled up at her.
"That's how I know that THorin loves you.... because my da loved my ma more than life.... more than anything. He looked at her the same way Thorin looked at you.... with love."
Sepha smiled sadly but she felt a deep pain wash over her. Bain seemed to notice for he continued.
"But it wasn't just the look. Da was overly protective of me and the girls after ma died. At first I thought it was because he was afraid to lose us too or because it got his mind off of losing ma.... but then I realized that he wanted to protect us because it made him happy knowing we were safe and happy." the boy explained. "And no one can deny that THorin is overly protective of you. I don't know what happened before you reached lake town and I know things got hard and painful afterwards but just that one day and night that you were in lake town, it was like Thorin didn't want you out of your sight for fear something would happen... and when he saw you happy and safe, he looked like he couldn't get happier."
Sepha had laid back down and had her head resting on her front paws when Bain reached over and stroked her head behind her ears, then her fur all so gently, "Thorin loves you Sepha. It might be hard to see with the sickness.... but he still loves you. You might be the only thing that is keeping him as sane as he is."
"Maybe I shouldn't have stayed behind then," Sepha breathed. "Maybe I should have gone with him and he might have not fallen to the sickness."
Bain shook his head, "My ma once told me to never dwell on what could have been. We don't know what could have happened if you had gone. You and Thorin might have not admitted to your feelings....Fili and Kili might have died...."
"But Thorin got sick," Sepha objected.
Bain nodded, "There's no way we could have avoided it. opposites of the world balance out. You cannot have hate without love because without love, there would be no hate. There would only be a blank feeling. You cannot have up without down because if there was no down, there would be no up to go up to. You cannot have happiness without pain because if there was no pain, there would be no happiness.... only blankness. They balance each other out and create life....THorin has to fight this evil.... with good. And that good that he needs to fight the evil can be found in you Sepha."
Sepha looked at the boy and Bain smiled, "I should go see how the meeting went with the dwarves."
Sepha nodded and watched the boy go. When she was sure he wasn't listening, she followed discreetly.
"How did it go father?" Bain asked his dad.
"They refused to agree to the terms," Bard replied. "Thranduil has declared war. we attack at dawn."
Sepha felt her heart sink. Thorin, what have you done? With that, she spun on her paws and charged out of dale. Just like she did every night since she left Erabor, she climbed to the highest tower of Dale where the dwarves had watched the burning of lake town.
When she reached the top, she slammed her paws on the ground in frustration and let the tears flow. She felt sobs overtake her and let out a loud yell (however, in a wolf form it was just a loud painful howl).
Little did she know that in Erabor, Fili and Kili had been on watch and had seen the girl rush to the tower and lift her head and howl. She did it every night and every night it got worse. Her howl became more painful and it almost sounded like she was crying. Even from Erabor they could hear the pain.
Fili remembered to earlier that day when Thorin had stepped away from the peephole and had told Bard to leave. Bard had called to FIli and Kili and they had gone to the hole to listen to him.
'Sepha is in pain,' he had said, 'she doesn't eat or sleep. She hasn't spoken since she has arrived and wont morph back to human. It's like she has given up on being a human. The only one she'll talk to is Bain but she will barely speak except a few words each day.'
"It's like she is becoming uncle," FIli whispered.
Kili shook his head, "No she isnt.... she is sharing in his pain," he explained. "Uncle doesn't sleep or eat and he barely speaks to anyone. She is doing the same and if I know Sepha, she will keep doing it till Uncle stops."
"But why?" Fili insisted.
Kili sighed and shook his head, "Because she thinks she's responsible for his falling to the sickness."
What they didn't know was that a dark figure stood in the shadows listening to their conversation. When they finished talking, they headed down to rouse Dori who had the next watch. When they were gone, Thorin stepped out of the shadows onto the wall and looked at Dale. He could see the dark outline of Sepha sitting on the high tower before descending into the depths of Dale.
Thorin reached to his belt and fingered the bead that still rested in his pouch there. HIs fingers grazed across his family crest and he felt tears spring to his eyes. He turned and headed back down, hoping to get some rest. Instead of lying down with the other dwarves, he went to his private quarters. The moment he stepped in he could just see himself and Sepha lying there, Sepha telling him to get some rest.... him telling her that he loved her....her falling asleep next to him....
His ears still rang with the sound of her pained howl and he felt tears prick his eyes. He opened his mouth to whisper something but nothing came out. He removed his hand from his pouch and turning, he slammed the door and headed back to the treasure chamber.
Sepha didn't realize she had dozed off until she felt Tilda shift above her. Tilda had fallen asleep with her head on Sepha's furry back with Bain next to her. Sepha found herself smiling in spite of her pained mood.
She was about to lie back in order to not rouse them when Sigrid came sprinting towards them, waking the two children.
"Hurry!" She cried.
"What is it?" Bain asked, helping his little sister up.
"Da and the elf king have gone to Erabor. All the elves have moved out and all the men too! They're going to offer an agreement one more time before they attack the mountain," Sigrid replied.
Sepha was up in an instant and after telling Bain to protect his sisters, she bolted out of Dale.
Meanwhile, things were not going well on the wall of Erabor.
"We have come to tell you that payment for our share has been offered and accepted," Thranduil remarked.
"Payment with what?" Thorin hissed, still having his bow drawn. "I gave you nothing! You have nothing!"
Thranduil turned to Bard who reached into his coat and pulled out the arkesntone, "We have this."
Thorin's face went ashen white and he could barely speak.
"They have the arkesntone," Kili whispered. "Thieves! How came you by the heirloom of our house? That stone belongs to the king!"
"The king may have it," Bard replied. "With our good will but first he must honor his word."
Thorin shook his head, "THey're taking us for fools. it's a ruse. a filthy lie. The arkesntone is in this mountain! It's a trick!"
"It's no trick," Bilbo said, coming out from hiding, "The stone is real. I gave it to them."
Thorin turned and his eyes darkened with hate, "You...."
"I took it as my fourteenth share," the hobbit replied.
"You would steal from me?" THorin asked, his voice dripping with venom.
"Steal from you?" Bilbo asked almost laughing. "No. I may be a burglar but I'd like to think I'm an honest one. I'm willing to let it stand against my claim."
"Against your claim?" THorin asked, smirking, "You're claim. You have no claim over me you MISERABLE RAT!"
"I wanted to give it to you," Bilbo admitted. "Many times I want to but..."
He stopped and Thorin interrupted. "But what thief?"
"You are changed Thorin!" Bilbo said, his voice firm. "The dwarf I met in Baggend would never have gone back on his word! WOULD NEVER HAVE DOUBTED THE LOYALTY OF HIS KIN!"
"Do not speak to me of loyalty," THorin hissed. "THROW HIM FROM THE RAMPART!"
There was dead silence and everyone on the ground, even Thranduil stared in horror.
"Did you not hear me!?" THorin yelled, grabbing FIli but the dwarf pulled away from his uncle.
"I'll do it myself then," Thorin said, grabbing Bilbo.
He had just hauled the halfling onto the wall and was about to push him over when something cold and sharp struck his hand and he snapped his hand back, yelling in pain. He looked down and saw that there was a long cut on the back of his hand. Looking down at the wall, he saw that the object of his injury was an arrow.... long and delicate with white feathers.....
THorin felt his heart stop in horror as he lifted his eyes just as a loud growl split the air.
"If you do not like the hobbit then don't hurt him!" Sepha yelled, pushing through the crowd of elves and coming to stand in front of Bard and Thranduil, still in wolf form. "Return him unharmed!"
Thorin slowly released the hobbit who at once was ushered to the rope and he began to climb down.
"You all are mad to think that I will ever deal with shire rats Aga...." he never finished.
Right as those words began to escape him Sepha morphed back into human and drawing her sword she drove it into the hard stone in front of her. Surprisingly, it didn't break nor did it crack the stone.... just cut clean through it like cheese. When she did this, a deep rumble sounded and a huge gust of wind knocked at the dwarves, sending most of them falling back. it was stronger than any gale they had ever felt.
When they had recovered their footing, they looked down to see Sepha standing there. She looked horrible. The bags under her eye were noticeable even from that distance. Her hair was down (she still hadn't rebraided it since she left), her face pale and she looked like she hadn't eaten in a while and tears were staining her cheeks.
She looked so beautiful.... yet so undernourished.
"There was a time when it thought I knew you Thorin Oakenshield," she said, glaring up at him. "A time when I thought I knew everything about you."
"You know nothing about me!" THorin yelled back, nothing but anger in his voice.
Sepha nodded, "Of course I don't.... because you LIED TO ME! You showed me a side of you that didn't really exist! A side of you that everyone trusted! the company followed you because they thought that the good side of you was the real you.... gosh were we mistaken. No THorin, I know everything there is to know about you... I know that all you are thinking of right now is the treasure behind you. I know that you haven't slept since you arrived in Erabor and barely eaten anything. I know that your mind is laced with greed and aggression. Three days ago... I thought there was still a part of you left.... I was wrong."
There was a pause while all the dwarves looked at THorin to see that his eyes were glossy and he looked like he was ready to cry.... but he looked so sick.... dangling between good and evil.
"I gave you everything THorin! I gave you my heart.... my trust, my loyalty, my life! I gave you everything because I thought that I knew you! The only reason I followed you before I fell in love with you was because I trusted you! I trusted you because I saw a dwarf who cared. I saw a dwarf who loved his comrades and his friends. He loved his nephews more than life. He would do anything to see them happy and safe. That dwarf is gone. Honestly.... I don't even know who I am talking to right now because I am most certainly not talking to THORIN OAKENSHIELD!"
When she raised her voice, even Thranduil jumped at how much pain and hurt was lacing her voice.
"Thorin Oakenshield is dead!" Sepha yelled. "He died the moment he entered this mountain! This person who looks like Thorin and sounds like THorin.... isnt Thorin. He is just a beast that has taken over the real Thorin.... the THorin I loved!"
When Sepha finished, she morphed back into a wolf and pulled Bilbo onto her back before turning and running off back to Dale in search of Gandalf.
"Give us your answer!" Bard yelled. "The return of the arkesntone for what was promised!? Will you have peace or war?"
There was a long silence until suddenly a crow flew onto the ledge by THorin and he turned his eyes to the hills, "I will have war."
"I'm going over the wall," Kili remarked. "Who's coming with me?"
Thorin shook his head, "Stand down."
"What?" FIli asked.
"Are we to do nothing?" Ori asked.
"I SAID!" THorin snapped. "STAND DOWN!"
A moment later, Thorin was sitting upon the throne when Dwalin came storming up to him.
"Thorin, we have to go out there. Dain is surrounded. THey're being slaughtered Thorin."
"There are halls beneath halls within this mountain," Thorin whispered. "Places we can fortify. Hold up make safe, yes.... that is it. We must move the gold further underground to safety."
"Did you not hear what I just said?" Dwalin insisted. "They're dying out there."
"May die in war," Thorin replied. "Life is cheap. But a treasure such as this cannot be counted in lives lost."
Dwalin shook his head in disgust, "There was a time when you said that Persephone was the greatest treasure in the world. Now, you treat her as dirt."
"It was her choice," THorin remarked.
"She left because you were hurting her Thorin," Dwalin pointed out. "She left because she couldn't bear to see you so sick. She is out there risking her life to fight those orcs alongside your cousin. Do you remember nothing of all the things you told Sepha? Do you remember nothing?"
"Do not speak to me as if I were some lowly dwarf lord," Thorin hissed. "As if I were still.... THorin Oakenshield."
His voice broke at that and Dwalin knew why. Sepha's words at the gate were eating into THorin's mind... slowly chewing away at the evil inside of him and just saying his name hurt.... because Dwalin knew SEpha's words were working.
"I AM YOUR KING!" Thorin yelled.
"You were always my king," Dwalin remarked. "You used to know that once. You cannot see what you have become."
Those words dug so deep that Thorin felt his mind spin. He could see SEpha standing at the gate.... her face streaming with tears.....
"Go on. Get out before I kill you."
TIME SKIP
There was too much running through Thorin's head at that moment. He slowly strode into the gallery of the kings where the melted gold had hardened, covering the floor in a thick layer of gold.
Suddenly, voices began to jump into Thorin's head and he felt himself consumed by each word. He recognized Bilbo, Dwalin, Balin, Bard, Gandalf and even his own voice.
You sit here in these vast halls with a crown upon your head. You are lesser now than you have ever been.
A treasure such as this cannot be counted in lives lost
A sickness lies upon that treasure
The blind ambition of a mountain king
AM I NOT THE KING!?
This treasure is ours and ours alone
I will not part with a single coin
He could not see beyond is own desire!
As if I was some lowly dwarf lord. Thorin Oakenshield.
A sickness which drove your grandfather mad
Oakenshield....
This is Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror
I am not my grandfather
You are the heir to the throne of durin
They are dying out there
Take back ERabor
Dain is surrounded
They're dying
Take back you're homeland
You are changed Thorin
I am not my grandfather
Is this treasure truly worth more than your honor?
I am not my grandfather.
Suddenly, Sepha's soft voice came in and THorin felt his heart stop.
I'm glad I'm not immortal because I couldn't stand watching people I know grow old and die in front of my eyes while I love on!
You know nothing about me Thorin Oakenshield!
You don't know what I have seen or what I have gone through!
I have a say in my life, especially my love life Thorin Oakenshield!
I didn't want to be a burden
You wouldn't understand. When you become a healer you take an unspoken vow to protect whoever needs your help.
When we rejoin you, I want to see the Thorin you are now.... Not a different THorin.
Ni mela tye
There was a time when I thought I knew you Thorin Oakenshield.
Thorin Oakenshield is dead! He died the moment he entered this mountain!
Thorin reached up and grabbing his crown, he threw it down hard on the ground and he felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders....then a deep pain grabbed his heart.
"Aramalime.... what have I done?" he whispered.
Sepha drove her sword into another Orc and turned to make sure Bilbo was alright.
Just when she was about to drive her sword into another orc, a huge axe appeared out of nowhere and cut the orc down. Standing before her was none other than Dain himself.
"Hello lass," he greeted. "I don't think we've met."
Sepha smiled and held out her hand, "Persephone ANatello at your service. You can call me Sepha."
Dain smiled and shook her hand, "Dain Ironfoot at yours. So you know my cousin?"
Sepha froze a moment before nodding and killing another orc, "I know your cousin.... not the sick person in the mountain."
Dain nodded, "I'm worried. THorin hasn't appeared yet and my men are getting tired."
Sepha looks around, "We should retreat back to the mountain. That will give the men a moment to catch their breath."
Dain nodded. he was just about to run off when Sepha morphed into a wolf and grabbing him by the belt, pulled him onto her back.
"Need a lift!?"
Dain hooted with glee as the girl charged through the battle field. Dain called to his men to fall back and Sepha plowed through Orcs as they went. Finally they reached the gates of Erabor and Dain hopped off of Sepha's back but she stayed as a wolf.
The orcs all lined up in front of the dwarves and the trolls came forward.
"Steady," Dain called.
Just when the orcs began to approach, a loud horn sounded and Sepha felt her heart jump..... she knew that sound. The horn sounded again and then a huge bell rang, knocking down the stone gate in front of Erabor. A half second later, the whole company came charging out of the mountain and all the dwarves moved back to give them room.
"To the king!" Dain yelled. "TO THE KING!"
Before Sepha could even offer, Dain had leapt onto her back and held onto her neck hair like she was a rodeo horse.
"Charge!"
Sepha just chuckled to herself and ran after all the others. Blood splattered all over her and she got a rather bad cut on her forehead but she ignored it. Dain's rather heavy weight began to weigh down on her but she ignored it.
"Dain!" a familiar voice called over the din.
Sepha felt her heart soar. She knew that voice... Thorin! And not the sick Thorin of before.... the real Thorin!
"THorin!" Dain called, urging Sepha to run faster. "I'm coming!"
Sepha ran in the direction of the sound and pulled to a hard stop, allowing Dain to jump off her back and take down two orcs. Sepha didn't morph back for she was set upon by orcs. While she dealt with them, she saw the two cousins greet each other.
"How did you get over here so fast?" Thorin inquired.
"Oh I got a ride," Dain replied, nodding at Sepha.
Sepha took down another orc who had raised his sword to kill Thorin and threw him across the battle field. She turned and at once felt her heart stop. Thorin was standing before her, his eyes wide and a soft smile on his face. She slowly walked over but kept her eyes down. In wolf form, her head came level with his. Thorin slowly approached the girl and Sepha bowed her head.
"Please...." Thorin whispered. "DOnt hide from me."
Dain left the two alone while he busied himself killing the orcs that surrounded them. Sepha took a deep breath and morphed back to human. She looked horrible, covered in orc blood, her lip bleeding and her forehead wounded but to Thorin, she was beautiful.
THorin smiled and slowly taking a step towards her, he reached out and placed his hand on her cheek, stroking her face with his thumb. Sepha leaned into the touch as THorin trained his finger around her wounded forehead.... then across her swollen lip.
"I'm so...." Thorin began but Sepha cut him off.
Grabbing his neck with one hand, she drew his head down to her level and crashed her lips to his. She didn't care that her lip was sore and bleeding.... she missed THorin and that's all she cared about. Thorin wrapped his free hand (that wasn't holding Orcrist) around her waist and hugged her close as he kissed her back.
When they parted, they were out of breath and THorin was smiling brighter than Sepha had ever seen him smile.
"It wasn't you who said those things," Sepha whispered. "What are we going to do about that pile of white orc filth?"
THorin smiled, loving it how her eyes glowed violet when she was determined, "We're going to cut his head off."
Thorin quickly grabbed a ram and climbed on. A second later, Fili, Kili and Dwalin were behind him on rams.
"Hey Sepha!" Fili and Kili shouted in unison, grinning.
Sepha smiled, "If you're going, I'm coming with you."
"Sepha..." THorin warned. "It's too dangerous."
Sepha snorted, "And please enlighten me as to the time I listened to you and admitted something was dangerous?"
There was a pause and THorin realized she had him there. Dwalin, FIli and Kili snorted while Dain chuckled.
"Feisty one you've got here cousin."
Fili and Kili outright laughed at how red THorin's face turned and the smug look Sepha had on her face.
"Yeah.... she is," Thorin admitted, "Okay come on."
Sepha grinned and allowed THorin to pull him onto the ram behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her cheek to his back.
"I'm not leaving you again." She whispered.
THorin smiled and his shoulders relaxed. That was a good enough answer for Sepha.
This doesn't feel right," SEpha whispered.
They had reached raven hill.... but Azog was nowhere to be seen.
"I think Azog has fled," Kili whispered.
"I don't think so," Thorin replied, worry lacing his voice.
Sepha sniffed the air. She could still smell the stench of the beast... where was he?
"Fili," Thorin said. "Take your brother and scout the tower. Do not engage do you understand?"
The two nodded and scurried off.
"Thorin," SEpha whispered. "I have a bad feeling about this."
THorin walked over to the girl and stood beside her, watching Fili and Kili walk across the ice. He laced his fingers with hers and squeezed her hand.
"Me too."
"Goblin mercenaries," Dwalin interrupted. "no more than a hundred."
"We'll take care of them," Thorin replied. "Sepha... follow the boys. Make sure they are alright."
Sepha nodded and morphed into a wolf before scurrying off quietly across the ice. She soon realized there were orcs everywhere and she began to battle them.... then she heard the voice of Azog somewhere above.
Meanwhile, Thorin and Dwalin were waiting for SEpha and the boys to return.
"THorin," Bilbo's voice cried from behind them.
They spun around and Thorin's eyes widened, "Bilbo!"
"We have to get out of here," Bilbo panted. "Bolg has another army attacking from the north, they'll be upon us in minutes."
"That stinking filth is up there," Dwalin hissed, "I say we push on."
"No wait," Thorin remarked, stopping Dwalin, "That's what he wants.... this is a trap."
he looked up at the tower. There was no sign of Kili or Fili.... and SEpha was nowhere to be found...Sepha.... where was she?
"Find Fili and Kili, call them back," Thorin ordered Dwalin, "I'll find Sepha."
"Thorin what...." Dwalin started.
"Do it," Thorin said, noting the sense of concern in Dwalin's face, "WE'll live to fight another day."
Bilbo nodded and was just about to head off with Thorin when they heard a deep drumming sound. They all turned and saw the most horrifying thing... Azog was walking to the edge of the tower and in his grip.... was fili!
"No!" Thorin gasped, rushing to the edge of the platform they were on.
"This one dies first," Azog yelled in black speech. "Then the brother. Then you Oakenshield. You will die last."
"No!" FIli panted.
Thorin felt tears spring to his eyes.... Fili.... his nephew. He had begun to look upon the two boys as his sons and now... Fili was dangling over the side of a cliff.... a sword pointed at his back.
"Run!" Fili screamed.
Thorin felt all the air escape him as Azog raised his sword to end his nephew's life when.... a huge object struck Azog square in the shoulder. Fili fell from his grip and went falling down towards the ground below him. The object that struck Azog didn't stop but sprang over the side and grabbed the young dwarf by the collar, gripping it tightly in one hand while holding the rocky side with the other.
"SEPHA!" Bilbo cried.
For it was Sepha. She looked horrible, a knife in her hand that wasn't holding Fili. The blade was driven into the side of the rock, the only thing keeping them from slipping. She had a huge gash on her side and her lip was bleeding worse.
Thorin let out a gasp, realizing the danger the two were in. He literally felt like he himself was on that cliff... two of the people he loved the most were dangling on that side... their lives on the edge of a knife... literally.
"Fili! Sepha!" Thorin cried, rushing across the ice to help them.
"Kili!" Dwalin yelled at the same time, rushing to find the younger Durin.
Thorin and Dwalin hurried up the stairs towards the tower, trying to find a way to get to Sepha and Fili and also to find Kili.... but the orcs had other plans. Azog appeared out of an archway and attacked Thorin. Dwalin ducked to the side and began to deal with the orcs that were pouring over the wall.
"Bilbo!" Dwalin yelled. "Help Sepha and Fili!"
Meanwhile, Sepha and FIli were struggling to hold on. Sepha usually had no trouble dangling but she was holding Fili's weight and she was wounded.
"Hold on Fili," Sepha panted. "Can you grab one of your knives?"
Fili felt around his coat and finally found one.
"Drive it into the rock," SEpha ordered.
Fili obeyed and soon got a grip on the stone ledge. They both hung there, holding onto their knives and panted.
"Thanks," Fili whispered. "I seriously thought I was done for."
Sepha grinned, "The line of Durin isnt that easy to get rid of. Come on."
With that, they began to slowly climb down, using the knives as they went. When they reached the bottom, Fili gasped.
"KilI! I have to find him! And uncle!"
Sepha nodded, "You find Kili. I'll find THorin."
Fili nodded and quickly pressed his head to Sepha's before running off in search of his brother. Sepha stood there a moment, listening and trying to find out where Thorin was. She felt a hand on her shoulder and jumped, turning around. Bilbo and Tauriel stood there.
"Tauriel!" Sepha cried, hugging the girl. "Where is Legolas?"
Tauriel pointed upward, "At the top of the waterfall. Where is Kili?"
"That's what I was trying to find out," Sepha replied ."Fili went to go find him."
"What about Thorin?" Bilbo asked.
Sepha shook her head, "I was going to find him."
"You two find Thorin, I'll help Fili find Kili," Tauriel instructed.
SEpha nodded and morphed into a wolf. Bilbo climbed onto her back and SEpha charged up the stairs towards the waterfall in search of the dwarf prince while Tauriel ran in the other direction where Fili had run off.
epha skidded to a stop when she and Bilbo reached the top of the waterfall. They saw Dwallin and he was fighting orcs who had just arrived afresh with Bold. Great!
"Stay here and help Dwalin," Sepha told Bilbo. "I'll find Thorin."
Bilbo nodded as Sepha charged off. When she finally reached the ice, she saw a sight that made her blood run cold. Thorin and Azog were stuck on a piece of ice that was only staying afloat because Azog's huge stone ball was balancing Thorin's weight. Azog tried to take a swing at Thorin but had to rush back to his side so they didn't fall.
Sepha held her breath when she saw a sight that made her smile. Eagles began to fly from behind Thorin, atop them were Radagast and Beorn! They flew clear over their heads and began to attack the orcs that had arrived from the North.
She heard a clanking and saw Thorin throw down Orcrist onto the ice. He reached down and grabbed the stone mace and threw it to agog who caught it. Thorin gave him a pathetic cock of his head before stepping off the ice. Sepha found herself smiling when she saw what Thorin was doing. The ice tipped and Azog went slipping into the water!
Thorin let out a deep sigh and picked up Orcrist. He lifted his eyes and caught sight of Sepha who was on the other side of the ice from him. A smile spread across his face. He strode in her direction when he suddenly stopped and cried out in pain.
Sepha let out a gasp of horror at the sight of the knife that appeared through the top of thorin's foot! Azog came crashing through the ice and stood over Thorin who now lay on the ground with Orcrist being the only thing keeping Azog from running him through.
"THORIN!" Sepha cried.
Thorin was losing strength.... Azog had the upper hand. Sepha knew there was only one thing that could happen other than Thorin dying..... and she had to.
Morphing into a wolf she let out an infuriated growl and pounced at the pale orc. Azog turned at the sound of her hard paws hitting the ice and his eyes widened with the massive wolf crashed into him, sending him flying off of Thorin. Sepha crashed the orc against the stone boulder and quickly morphed to human, pressing her swords to Azog's neck and glared into his eyes.
"You will never harm another member of the house of Durin ever again."
Azog glared and pushed her off but Sepha spun around and drew out her swords, lashing both of them out and driving them into Azog's chest. The pale orc froze and stared into her eyes..... he let out a soft rumble before he fell limp and crumbled to the ground.... dead.
"Seph," Thorin's voice whispered. Sepha turned around and Thorin's eyes widened in fright. She was wounded! During her scuffle with Azog, he had managed to give her a huge gash across her belly, cutting deep.
The girl's eyes drooped closed and she crumbled, just as Thorin grabbed her and held her close.
"Sepha... stay with me. Please stay awake."
"UNCLE!" Fili's voice yelled as he rushed at them. He took in the sight of Azog's body, Sepha half awake and Thorin holding her.
"Kili.... he's...."
"Dont tell me," Thorin said, tears building up in his eyes.
"He's not dead yet," FIli replied.
Sepha felt life leaving her. She pressed her head against THorin's chest, "Take me to Kili.... please...."
THorin obeyed and lifted her up. He quickly followed Fili around Ravenhill till they came onto the ledge where Kili was. Tauriel was there, crying as Kili's head lay in her lap.
"Sepha," Kili gasped weakly as Thorin and Sepha approached.
Thorin knelt down beside his nephew and Sepha gently crawled out of Thorin's arms and to Kili's side. Tauriel allowed her to pull Kili's head into her lap while THorin knelt on the other side of his nephew, gripping his arm. Kili squeezed, trying to fight the pain.
"Sepha," Kili gasped. "You're hurt."
"I'm fine," Sepha replied, even though the color in her eyes was fading and her cheeks were going pale.
"I'm sorry," Kili gasped. "I'm sorry..."
"Dont say that," Sepha whispered, stroking Kili's hair, "You have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you."
Kili shook his head, "If you had been here, you might have not saved Fili and Uncle. I'm glad you saved them...."
"Kili," Thorin whispered, pressing his head to his nephew's, "You're going to be fine. I promise."
Kili shook his head, "I'm sorry but I can't."
Thorin gasped as tears sprang to his eyes, trying to not choke on his silent sobs. Sepha squeezed Fili's hand as the boy knelt down beside her and buried his face in her shoulder.
"Can you sing to me?" Kili whispered. "One more time."
Sepha felt tears bite her eyes as she nodded. Kili closed his eyes and leant his head against her chest so he could hear her better.
Sepha was surprised she didn't break down in sobs but her voice was cracking as she sang for the last time to the young dwarf.
With a sigh you turn away
With a deepening heart
No more words to say
You will find that the world
Has changed forever
And the trees are now turning
From green to gold
And the sun is now fading
I wish I could hold you closer
When she finished, Kili smiled and looked up at her, Fili and his uncle.
"I love you all," he whispered.
Then... his eyes closed and he faded. FIli let out a strangled gasp and Sepha pulled him close to her chest. She stood up and pulled FIli away from his brother's body so that Tauriel could kneel down in her place. She watched as Thorin gripped his nephew's head and pulled the boy's forehead to his firmly as tears poured down his cheeks and he tried to not sob. When he released him, he reached to his wrist and pulled off one of his own wrist guards. Sepha recognized it as one of the ones he had worn since Baggend. It had the Oakenshield crest on it. Slipping it off, he slipped it onto Kili's wrist and tied it on snugly.
"Rest Kili," he whispered. "We will meet again in a better place."
Sepha felt tears prick her eyes and she was just about to hug Fili tighter when her legs gave way.
"Sepha!" Fili cried, moving to catch her so she didn't hit the stone ground.
Thorin jumped to his feet and helped his nephew. Fili lifted the girl into his arms as Sepha's eyes lulled shut.
"We need to get her to Oin," Thorin said urgently.
Fili nodded, "We need to hurry." "I'll take her," a deep voice said. The two dwarves turned to see Beorn standing over them, in his human form. He held out his arms and Fili handed the girl to him. Sepha looked so small in Beorn's arms... but protected. Beorn morphed into a bear and held SEpha close to his chest with one giant paw.
"I will get her to the mountain. Take care of the dwarf," Beorn said, nodding to Kili.
Beorn took off at a run, Fili and THorin watching him go. When he was out of sight and his heavy footfalls had disappeared, they turned to Tauriel who was crying over Kili's body. Fili was about to approach but Thorin stopped him and pulled him to his chest in a hug, allowing his nephew to cry into his chest.
"Let her stay with him a while," he whispered. "She has lost her one."
He drew Fili away but Tauriel spoke up, "What do your customs wish to do with him?"
Thorin looked at her sadly and felt tears stream down his face, "We would like to have a funeral for him and bury him."
Tauriel nodded, "Please.... Can I just have a moment?"
Thorin nodded with a sad smile and stepped away, leading his crying eldest nephew with him. He found a staircase that was empty where no bodies were littering the place. He sat down and Fili sat down beside him, leaning his head against his uncle's shoulder.
"Why must people die?" The young dwarf asked
Thorin shook his head, "I don't know. All I know is that when people die, it gives us all the more reasons to not waste our lives. They die to help the rest of us live. Don't waste your life like I have."
Fili sat up and looked at his uncle, "you haven't wasted your life uncle."
"Yes I have," thorin replied, "I have let myself get consumed and I neglected you and your brother... the company, Bilbo and Sepha. If I hadn't Kili might still be alive."
Fili shook his head, "like Sepha always says: "it's in the past". You have a second chance uncle to live a life full of adventure, life, excitement and love."
Thorin looked at his nephew to see the boy smirking knowingly at him. Thorin smiled and pressed his head to Fili's.
"I'm sorry we could t save Kili."
Fili nodded, "he's in a better place now."
Suddenly, Legolas came around the corner. He had no weapons on him, having used them all in the battle. He looked at the two dwarves who has risen to their feet, at Tauriel nearby and Kili.
"Sepha?" He asked
"She's hurt bad," Fili replies, "Beorn has taken her back to the mountain."
Legolas nodded. "We should hurry. Come on, my horse is nearby."
After whistling up his horse, Legolas mounted and pulled the two dwarves on behind him. Just when Thorin was about to climb on, Bilbo and the rest of the company arrived.
"Who was Beorn holding?" Dwalin asked
"Sepha." Fili replied, "we're heading that way now."
"We'll se that Kili is brought back," Balin said, placin a hand on Thorin's shoulder.
The two nodded and hopping into the horse behind Legolas, they hurried back to Erabor
Legolas’ Mother
So I was fighting with a big post on Legolas in the Hobbit Movies when I started down a rabbit hole. After an hour or so, I decided that this rabbit hole was seriously drifting off the main topic, but it was interesting and something I'd not really looked hard at, so I decided to give it its own post.
Let's talk about Legolas' mother.
Spoilers for the Hobbit movies.
Now, in the books we don't know what happened to the queen of Mirkwood. She must have existed because elves don't reproduce by budding, but we don't know her name, where she came from, or even whether she's alive, Sailed, or dead. As a result, I don't mind the movies deciding that she's dead. There's a lot I do mind about how they handled it, some of which I already went into in other places, but I don't mind the fact that she's dead provided nobody uses it as a Tolkien canon fact, because it ain't.
Now that's out of the way, let's talk about some of the ways her death was handled in the movies, beginning with how and when she's talked about.
I would love to see the stuff that was cut from Legolas' plotline. And I don't mean "I should watch the Extended Edition", I mean "I want to see the shooting scripts". Plural, because these movies are such a mess that I bet there was more than one. In fact, I know there was more than one because of this:
Tumblr media
Sorry about the weird colour balance in a few places; I wanted to make the details clear. The yellow bars show changes in costume; as you can see Tauriel sometimes changes costume between shots within the same scene.
Add this:
Tumblr media
And you've got yourself the ragged edges where two shoots were mashed together.
My point, though, is about Legolas' mother, the Legolas-Thranduil Denouement scene, and Legolas' arc.
See, the Gundabad scene and the Denouement both have a few things in common. First, they're the only times in the movies that what Legolas is doing isn't about Tauriel. She's still involved in the Gundabad scene, but as I've mentioned before her role is as follows:
Tumblr media
Enrapture me with your words, my darling!
Because, you know, strong, independent, and empowering. Anyway, my point isn't to criticise Tauriel. Gundabad is the only time that Legolas actually goes off to do his own thing rather than just following, sniffing after, and defending Tauriel, and as such I think might bear some closer examination in this context, especially given the second thing the Gundabad scene and the Denouement have in common: Legolas' mother.
Those are the only times Legolas' mother is definitely mentioned. There's one other possible reference - the High Treason scene - and I'll get back to that, but she is definitely mentioned in those two scenes.
Now, the Gundabad scene is and remains pointless in the final theatrical cut of the movie. There are theories that it's meant to tie in the White Council subplot, but I think that's kind of a reach. What I think is far more likely is that the centrepiece of the Gundabad scene is this line:
Legolas: My mother died there. My father does not speak of it. There is no grave, no memory, nothing.
That's brand new information. For a long time I thought it was the writers throwing a bone to the many fangirls Thranduil had picked up by making him a bit more sympathetic. "I know every other appearance and mention of this guy says that he's an unredeemable asshole, but hey, he's in mourning for his dead wife, so you can tell he's wearing leather pants under that robe." (Warning: TVTropes link). That would, after all, explain why this scene had absolutely nothing to do with anything and was never mentioned again: last-minute, they pulled Bloom and Lilly onto a greenscreen set and got Bloom to read a speech off a teleprompter, then spliced it into the movie.
Recently, I looked again at the dialogue in the scene and realised that at no point does Legolas actually say that Thranduil is in mourning for his dead wife. He just baldly states the fact that she's dead and never talked about. So what is going on here?
Now, I have a low opinion of Bloom's acting skills and of the competence of the scriptwriters, so this could be nothing more than that it was supposed to be telling us that Thranduil is handling his grief badly and that's why he's acting the way he is, but it didn't come across in the scene. That could be all it is, but I'd like to take this opportunity to go back to my favourite scene in Battle of the Five Armies: the High Treason scene. Specifically, this line:
Tauriel: You think your life is worth more than theirs when there is no love in it? There is no love in you!
Tumblr media
I hate this scene so much.
Anyway, that's weird in conjunction with the Gundabad scene. This one I did for a long time blame on incompetence, because surely they didn't mean for Tauriel to say something so monstrously hurtful when she just heard all about how Thranduil is deeply in mourning for his wife, right? She's not supposed to be evil! So I chalked it up, again, to the Gundabad scene and its accompanying characterisation being added at the last minute in a hurry, and nobody was paying enough attention to catch this.
But if this revelation isn't supposed to make Thranduil sympathetic, we can look at those lines together and consider that maybe this is intentional: that the takeaway is supposed to be that Thranduil didn't love his wife and/or doesn't love her memory.
At no point in either of the two movies she's in is Tauriel allowed to misjudge a situation or be unreasonable. She's always presented as right and all her choices work out for the best regardless of her knowledge or motivations. There's no way she was supposed to be in the wrong here, especially given that her main informed attribute is compassion. We're supposed to agree with her.
And that's consistent with what we're told about Thranduil's motivations: that he's obsessed with getting this necklace but never seems to have any emotional connection to his son and never brings up his wife himself, even when talking to Legolas... until the Denouement.
The Denouement is the scene in which the movie gives Thranduil a final good kick by having Legolas cut ties with him, but it's also one of the few really heartfelt emotional moments it allows him. And I mean moments that the movie actually cares to show us, as opposed to here:
Tumblr media
In which Pace is acting his heart out but we're clearly not meant to be focussed on it.
The Denouement is also the scene after Kili's Deathbed, in which we see that the purity of Tauriel and Kili's true love has brought cruel, selfish, and heartless Thranduil round to the side of the righteous. And it's only after that that he actually talks to Legolas and for the first time mentions his wife.
Remember how much I like the rule of three? Once is chance, twice is coincidence, and thrice is a pattern. Setup, reminder, payoff; this is a recurring thing in filmmaking structure (Spoilers for Suicide Squad, less in the second video than the first). In this case, the Gundabad scene sets up that there's something weird going on with Thranduil's relationship to his dead wife: one way or the other, he's not processing grief in a particularly healthy way, whether we're supposed to sympathise with him or not. The question of Thranduil's relationship to the memory of his wife is then mentioned again when Tauriel says there is no love in him: the reminder. Then, in the Denouement, it finally pays off as Thranduil actually talks about his wife for the first time in the trilogy and, it's implied from the Gundabad scene, possibly for the first time since she died...
And what he says is that she loved Legolas.
Look, this isn't a big thing. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't especially matter. However, it kind of annoys me nonetheless because you're not answering the question you asked. You set up "did/does Thranduil love his wife?" and your answer was "Thranduil's wife loved Legolas". That's nice, but not what you set up.
This is why I want the shooting scripts, because there's the ghost of at least one plot here. Are we seeing what's left of an arc in which Thranduil learns the value of love, having reacted to heartbreak in the past by rejecting love and declaring it to have no value or that as an entity it's not real? Are we seeing what's left of a story about Legolas finally learning more about his mother than the bald fact of where and when she died (in which case I hope there was more to it than him just learning how she felt about him specifically and nothing about her as a person and her place in the world, but I digress)? Are we seeing what's left of a subplot in which after years of emotional distance Thranduil and Legolas finally find that they share grief for a dead loved one, just as their relationship falls apart entirely? What is this?
Did a setup of Legolas doubting his mother's love hit the cutting-room floor? Was there a last-minute change to the Denouement scene because Legolas' development was considered more important than Thranduil's and nobody realised that Legolas has no relationship with his mother that might make this meaningful?
OK, I know, I'm obsessing. It's just that I am actually kind of annoyed that they killed off this female character for manpain without even giving her the dignity of a name, and if you're going to do that then at least do it well.
So much for what actually talking about Thranduil's wife could have done for the stories of the men in her life. Let's talk about what it could have done for the story of a woman who judging by what we can make out about these stupid stories ought to have been in her life.
Yeah, so it seems reasonable to assume that Legolas and Tauriel are at least a similar age. Thranduil has favoured and generally looked after Tauriel for 600 years, which given that she's apparently supposed to be very young would be a good chunk of her life. We also know from behind-the-scenes stuff that the intention was for that necklace to have been commissioned by Thranduil for his wife, definitely less than 600 years ago because Thorin was an adult. All of that builds a strong case that Tauriel was an adult and at least close to the royal family when the necklace was commissioned, and Thranduil's wife was presumably still alive at that time. If these timelines make sense, Tauriel knew Legolas' mother.
OK, I'm breaking my own rule by bringing in behind-the-scenes stuff. From the movies, all we know is that Tauriel's been a member of the family for 600 years, because nothing about the necklace is ever mentioned in the movies except that Thranduil wants it and Thror withheld it. This is another great example of how everything to do with Legolas' mother was kind of last minute and extremely poorly integrated, which makes it even more obnoxious that grief for her death was supposed to be a major portion of the motivation of one of the main antagonists.
Anyway, let's assume that we don't know any of the behind-the-scenes stuff. All we know is that Tauriel has been closely involved with Thranduil for 600 years. Even so, why doesn't she know anything about Thranduil's wife? I know Thranduil never talks about her (yeah, nice get-out there, movie), but is the Day Trip to Gundabad really the first time Legolas has ever felt the need to raise the subject? I assume these two are friends otherwise their interaction makes no sense, so why had Legolas apparently never discussed his mother with the woman he's sufficiently fond of that he's prepared to go into exile with her? Did Thranduil not only decide never to talk about his wife again himself but also make it an offence punishable by death for anyone else to talk about her?
This is another thing that continues to suggest that everything about the Gundabad scene and Legolas' mother was added at the last minute and without much thought. Why isn't the memory of Legolas' mother a presence in Tauriel's life? Even if we assume she never met her, which is possible based on the theatrical editions - say, she died when Legolas was a baby and Legolas is a few years older than Tauriel - why wasn't she presented as a role model? Or a cautionary tale? Why doesn't Tauriel comment that Thranduil himself married a "lowly Silvan elf"? Why doesn't Legolas see similarities between Tauriel and his mother and thus worry about Tauriel because he doesn't want her to go the same way? Why doesn't Tauriel pass an image of Legolas' mother holding a bow and hold her own a little more proudly at the reminder of another powerful female warrior?
Well, because all of those things would require the movie to have put any thought at all into Legolas' mother as a character beyond "she's dead and Thranduil's maybe sad about that".
Jeez, at least when they unnecessarily killed Bard's wife in his backstory they knew what effect it had had on him.
So let's talk about that necklace, shall we?
In my mind the question of why the necklace is so under-used is kind of like the dress, to use an ancient meme, only instead of blue or white it's incompetent or lazy. Did they not realise that it might be a good idea to explain the significance of the necklace in the theatrical releases of the films, or did they just come up with it at the last minute and not bother to include it properly?
There's evidence for both, you see: we see from the Arkenstone that they're perfectly capable of completely dropping an artefact that's been the centre of large chunks of plot, so it could be incompetence, but then again we have the Gundabad scene, which continues to be last-minute, irrelevant to the plot, and completely perfunctory.
Look, movie, I'm going to have words about villains in some later post - villains in general, not just in The Hobbit, since I talked about that already - but preview: you've set up Thranduil as the kind of villain who actually needs to be a character. That means that he needs motivation. You kind of tried to make it as that he has some kind of grudge with Thorin and that maybe he wants treasure, but to be honest "he wants treasure so he's bad" is not a great route to take with this given what your heroes are there to do.
I'm really not sure what the story was supposed to be behind the necklace. My first assumption is that they never even intended the necklace to be anything other than a sparkly thing that Thranduil wants, and the idea that it's a memento of his wife came later. However, I happen to know that in the deleted scenes (I don't know if this scene made it back into the extended edition and frankly I don't care) the necklace and its significance actually are raised:
First: Gandalf, you're an asshole.
Second: Why was this scene cut? No, really. I mean, I know it presents Gandalf as an asshole, but they left in plenty of other scenes that also did that. It's seconds long, so surely length wasn't a consideration. I really don't know why it was cut, and I actually think it would have improved things if left in.
Gandalf's reputation isn't salvageable at this point; however you feel about Movie!Gandalf it's probably not going to be changed by this. This scene does, however, explain basically everything about Thranduil. It explains what the deal is with him and the necklace. It demonstrates that his distant attitude to Legolas is actually deliberate on the part of the film-makers. It answers the question of how he's handling his grief. It could set up him trying one last time to connect with Legolas, making the Denouement scene an actual attempt at payoff. It even, as a special gift to you, movie, does all those things while telling us he's a dick!
Sometimes I wonder if they were actively trying to be inept at this point. Was this some deliberate decision to not explain Thranduil's motivations at all because that might make us question the heroes' behaviour towards him? Or was it, like everything else to do with the necklace, just something tossed together in reshoots at the last minute and they decided not to include this one?
The necklace is another demonstration of how pointless the "Thranduil's wife is dead" backstory element really was just because it never plays into the narrative of the theatrical editions of the movies. It doesn't matter that the necklace belonged to Thranduil's dead wife. Whatever might be said in behind-the-scenes stuff or deleted scenes, it remains a sparkly piece of jewellery that he considers to be his property. The fact that he considers it his never even matters beyond that one line about "I came to reclaim something of mine" that appeared in all the trailers and pissed off everyone who liked him in the book.
Honestly I think that was a last-minute addition as well; the fact that the "white gems" Thranduil mentions in Desolation of Smaug are his doesn't come up before or after that one line, and honestly I think that conversation with Thorin would have been the place: "white gems that I too desire" changes to "white gems whose return I desire" or something.
This has been a bit of a ramble, but I just wanted to do a whirlwind tour of how badly these movies handled Thranduil's wife. A lot of people have accused them of fridging her, but to be honest this is worse than fridging; at least fridging has a point. At least fridging means that the character affects the narrative, even just by her death motivating her menfolk to take action. All Thranduil's wife gets is a few throwaway lines that mean nothing. As far as the actual narrative of these movies and the motivation and emotions of the other characters are concerned, she never even existed. Tauriel apparently thought Legolas was produced by budding and as such has never even been curious about his mother. Thranduil is motivated by sparkly. Legolas has no emotional connection to her and his arc and relationship with Thranduil are predicated on Tauriel.
That is worse than if they'd killed her to motivate Thranduil and give Legolas an arc.
