Am I Nothing?

You were lying in your bed listening to music and surfing the social media apps on your phone.

But you had to take a break from what you were doing after a text message came to your phone.

"Look at the window"

The message was from Yamaguchi. Coming all the way to his house was not usually his habit. If he came, there must have been something important.

You did what you said. You approached the window of the room and looked down. You saw your boyfriend in front of your house door looking at your room window

You called him right away and connected your phone's speaker to your earpiece.

“Yamaguchi? What are you doing here?"

"I need to talk to you y/n"

"Sure, let's talk… did something happen?"

“Go down”

Yamaguchi was acting differently today than usual. There was no sign of your shy but lovely Yamaguchi today

"For what?" you asked curiously

“I say go down. Or I'll come to there"

"Okay wait I'm coming"

You took off your headphones. You took your jacket and went downstairs. You met her eyes

There were still thousands of question marks in your head. It had been two hours since he had left school. You dropped him off at practice two hours ago and then wished you luck and went home. What could have happened to change her boyfriend one hundred and eighty degrees in two hours?

“Yamaguchi? Tell me what happened?"

“Y/n. I want to ask you something but please tell me the truth"

"Of course. You know I would never lie to you"

He grabbed your shoulders and looked at you with both serious and depressed eyes.

“Y/n. Do you love me?"

"Where did that come from now?"

You were surprised. You still couldn't understand what had happened to your boyfriend. What had changed so that he was questioning your love for him? Was he not sure how much you loved him?

"Answer my question. Do you love me?"

You frowned and folded your arms under your chest

“Yamaguchi. Talk to me clearly. What is your intention? Why are you questioning my loyalty and love for you as if you didn't know?"

You looked into her eyes and said quite confidently that you loved her.

“I love you more than anything in this world, Yamaguchi. You are my only cute and shy Yamaguchi. You are my whole world. Please answer my question. Why are you questioning this?"

Poor Yamaguchi's face fell. Her freckled cheeks were blushed

"I am sorry. I really…oh well, never mind”

“Yamaguchi, please tell me. What happened? I am your girlfriend. When you're bored with something, can you tell me who you're going to tell, not me?"

"Well…I guess you're right."

“Then tell me what happened. Now!"

“Okay then. After you dropped me off for training, we formed two teams and started playing matches. Since I'm also the team's reserve serve, I served Tsuki's place in another round and unfortunately my serve was unsuccessful. I almost gave a point to the opposing team. This is not the first time, you know. Anyway, Tsuki and I got hooked over this issue and I guess, in the moment of anger, his true thoughts about me came out.”

The blood had splattered into his brain. you frowned

"What did he say to you?"

“He said that I would always make the team lose points, that I was too useless to even be in reserve. Besides, I was ugly, I was incompetent. He questioned how you agreed to go out with me despite all this. He said a girl like you would only go out to play with me. The last time he told me I was nothing and left."

"I don't believe you! Did you really believe that idiot's word? Oh that boy! Can't he unable to hold his tongue at all? Dirtbag! No one can say such words to you! No one has the right to hurt you. I'm not going out to play with you! I am with you because I love you. Also, I love your beautiful freckled face and messy green hair. I'm sure if the most handsome man in the world wanted to be with me, I would still choose you. You are never a nobody! You are my only Yamaguchi. They are shallow and ignorant people who do not know what the heart is. Tsuki is one of them. We can't expect him to understand.

“Thank you y/n. Your words really put my mind at ease. Tsuki's words broke my heart so much that I can't explain. I was really sure that you loved me, and now I'm convinced once again."

He glanced at his watch and seemed to remember something he had to do.

“Oh! I have to go. We shall talk later. I will call you. See you later"

"See you later"

As he ran away, he suddenly turned to you and held out both his hands and kissed you.

"I love you"

You sent him a kiss the same way

TETSUROU KUROO.

he's not used to having any other hairstyle but his signature bed head or rooster head look, but he's loving it so far.

his favorite part about whenever you do his hair is when you give him a top knot or little pigtails, he never takes them off, not even during practice matches to show off his beautiful new hairstyle to the others.

he definitely loves cherry blossom hair ties, it makes him feel just as cute as you.

KENMA KOZUME.

yeah, kenma doesn't usually feel comfortable whenever his side vision is exposed, but he's slowly getting more and more accustomed to it whenever you do his hair.

kenma prefers having hair pins or clips in his hair instead of having it tied actually; he loves collecting hair clips from you and putting them in his bangs to keep them out of the way of his eyes.

he loves the feeling of your hands in his hair or on his scalp, it really calms him down and makes him sleep more comfortably, especially when he's lying down on your lap.

TOORU OIKAWA.

oikawa is definitely into couple hairstyles, no matter how ridiculous it might look on him.

he loves cinnamoroll or pochaco hair accessories, and he loves it whenever you put little pigtails in his hair and you play with them.

the most favorite thing oikawa loves when you're doing his hair is when you two exchange tea like you're in a salon together; of course, oikawa's usually grievances are about kageyama or ushijima, but it's also mainly about how he thinks you make him look too cute for his own good...

OSAMU MIYA.

osamu really doesn't mind you doing his hair, he wants you to do whatever you want with it, as long as you don't shave his hair off.

he also really loves having your fingers on his scalp or through the strands of his hair. it relaxes him after a long day of dealing with atsumu or being frustrated he couldn't see you.

osamu loves the butterfly clips you put in his hair, he loves making atsumu and the others on the team jealous he has a sweet partner who does his hair for him.

TADASHI YAMAGUCHI.

yamaguchi doesn't have a particular hairstyle from you that he appreciates, he appreciates and loves every way you style up his hair!

he enjoys it whenever you play around with his hair, especially when you use hair ties and clips that you think accentuate his hair color and eyes.

whenever you tie his hair up into a topknot, he gets really happy, because your face always lights up. and when you put your hands on either sides of his face and squish his cheeks together, admiring his cuteness, making him fluster because you can see his freckles up close and how red he's getting... making him even cuter.

Setting Up Love: Asking Haikyuu!! Characters Out

CW: Nishinoya, Yamaguchi, Kenma, Sugawara, lots of blushing, no nsfw this time!

A/N: Been dying to write about more Kenma so ofc I had to sneak him in there

Nishinoya: If Nishinoya had a crush on you, he'd be completely delusional about it, and to make matters worse, Tanaka would only encourage him. Did you ask him what day it was in class? Yep, according to him, you're head over heels but too shy to admit it.

And despite all his bravado, he'd be utterly taken aback if you asked him out on a date. Picture red ears, stuttering words, and avoiding your gaze out of sheer nerves.

Once you're deep in conversation on your date, he'd start with the cheesiest pickup lines. If you happened to bite your lip, he'd insist on kissing it better. I wouldn't be surprised if this man proposed to you with a candy ring pop.

But when it's just the two of you, his confident façade would vanish. He'd become all whiny and desperate for your touch. Pinning him against a wall and kissing him would literally make his knees buckle.

Yamaguchi: While Yamaguchi tends to be shy around others, he can become quite chatty when you catch him alone without Tsukishima around. I have a feeling he'd be really into J-pop/K-pop, so if you share that interest, you guys would hit it off instantly.

When you started talking more, he might have assumed it was because you liked Tsukishima. But if you were to ask him on a date? Oh boy, he'd be giggling all shyly.

Of course, he'd probably suggest going to a cafe or an arcade. A cafe date would feel incredibly romantic to him—sitting across from you, sipping a warm latte, engaging in good conversation—it would make him weak in the knees.

Walking him home after and planting a kiss on his lips would catch him off guard. He'd be nervous, worried you might think he's inexperienced and tease him, so he'd try to act like he knows what he's doing.

But if you were to place a hand on his hip and deepen the kiss, he'd pull away, confessing that he likes you so much, and he’s scared that you might not like him back if he’s a bad kisser.

Hinata: Even if Hinata was head over heels for you, that poor boy can be incredibly clueless. Lost in the world of volleyball, if you suggest doing something together, he might just ask you to set for him. 🤦‍♀️

Later on, when someone finally clues him in that you were hinting at something romantic, he'd feel so bad! He'd show up at your desk with your favorite drink and candy in hand, suggesting to go downtown for some fun shopping!

When you guys do go out in public, he'd get incredibly bashful if you wanted to hold his hand. A cool, pretty person like you wanting to hold him?? He'd be over the moon. When you two lock hands or even just link pinkies, he'd feel so calm and secure, never wanting to let go.

Kenma: Kenma could be silently obsessed with you for years without saying a word. It'd be incredibly hard to read him, making it tough to decide whether to make a move.

But when you finally do, he'd give you the warmest smile that instantly erases any doubts you had. However, being shy, he'd prefer to do something at home.

He'd absolutely love baking with you! Creating silly cakes resembling Minecraft or another video game he's into would be a blast for him, and it'd be quite humorous too!

Once your creations are ready for tasting, he'd become shy if you tried to feed him. He couldn't help feeling mushy and embarrassed as he opened his lips for a bite. And if you swiped frosting off his cheek? His whole face would turn red, and he'd want to curl up into a ball.

Sugawara: Sugawara often struggles with feeling like less of a teammate for not being in the starting lineup. So, receiving special attention from someone as attractive and cool in his eyes as you would completely blow his mind.

If you were to ask him to spend quality time together? He'd plan the sweetest little picnic and nature walk. On the outside, he'd act chill and fun, but deep down, he'd be freaking out.

And if you casually complimented him? Oh boy, his face would turn as red as Tendo's hair, trying not to lose his cool. The way you praise him so casually, as if he should know how amazing he is, makes him feel incredibly special. He'd just want to be wrapped in your arms while you showered him with kisses all over.

Headcanons of Haikyuu characters confessing to you

This one is for the Karasuno first years, will do a few more for the 2nd + 3rd years and few members of other teams

Will also do a hc of the reader confessing first

Hinata:

It was something you expected because he couldn't be any more obvious about having a crush on you

However, it took way longer than you thought for him to actually stand in front of you

Like this boy have no idea how painfully obvious he was being and everyone had to sit by the side and watch him figure out his feelings in real time

This idiot couldn't differentiate between simply liking someone and a crush

When he finally realised what he felt for you wasn't platonic, he went straight for it

He caught you after class, confessed really loudly

You felt like everyone on that floor was able to hear this idiot's confession of his love for you

He definitely was nervous, considering how loud he was being

When you accepted his confession, he was so happy that he jumped up and hugged you so tightly that you felt like your ribs were going to collapse

There was also a very audible yelp from him from the happiness

Welp, guess now that everyone in the school knows that a certain idiot confessed and is now happily dating the love of his dreams

Kageyama:

Another oblivious idiot on this list

Arguably took long than Hinata to understand his feelings but was also more subtle with his actions

However, everyone except a few was able to tell that he had it bad for you

Would be sneaking glances at you and turning away immediately when you turn to face him

If you ever asked, he would be like "What? No. What are you talking about?"

Even after understanding he had a crush on you, he didn't confess

However, under the help of a few seniors, mainly Sugawara

Our lovely setter prodigy finally decided to face you and express his feelings

It was mainly muttering at first, but after telling him that you couldn't hear him, his voice rose suddenly and went for the overkill

Now the entire sector of the building could hear him

He fried himself immediately after that from embarrassment

But you were nice enough to hold in your chuckle and comfort him, then accepting his confession

Now you had the honour of watching Kageyama turn into a tomato in two seconds

He would be stammering and stuttering all over the place

He was overjoyed, but failed miserably in expressing it coherently

But hey, we love him for that

Tsukishima:

He was well aware of his feelings, but he wasn't ready to admit it

It took him quite some time to come in term with it

And even when he accepted it, he didn't confess immediately

Instead, he was planning strategically on how to confess to you so there will be a higher chance of you reciprocating those feelings back

This isn't how feelings work but we'll give him the credit for putting in the effort

You were kind of shocked when he confessed

You always thought that this guy disliked you, or were at least, indifferent about you, the thought that he liked you did not once show up in your mind

His affections were subtle and only a very few could see that he held you differently from others

His confession was calm, really calm, if it wasn't for the tense muscles and clenched fist, you wouldn't even know that this guy was nervous.

Even after you accepting his confession, his response was more of a "guess you were smart enough to accept me."

But if you squint real hard, you can see a joyous glint in his eyes

He is happy about you reciprocating his feelings, but more than likely he won't outright say it

Even if he did, it would be a quick comment thats followed by something sassy to cover it up

Yamaguchi:

You could tell this boy held feelings for you from a mile away

He's really not good at hiding it with all the blushing and stammering

Didn't have the courage to tell you for the longest time

Tsukishima was telling him to just go for it, and everyone else was also encouraging him to do it

But he still didn't budge

He felt like you were going to reject him the moment he step in front of you

Not true by the way

It was only when he scored with the float serve through multiple games and finally feeling like he could do something did he gain the confidence he needed

He came up to you, face red and trying to keep composure even though he felt so nervous like he's going to faint

However, he still managed to hold eye contact with you this entire time

His voice was quivering when he told you about his feelings

You couldn't tell if it was because he was nervous or because he was scared

Probably both

When you accepted his feelings, he was overjoyed, but he still doubled checked with you

Because maybe, he heard it wrong

After getting an confirmation, he gleamed, you could almost see a fluffy tail wagging behind him

The first request he had for you after making sure you are now in a relationship with him is:

"Could I hold your hand?"

Yachi:

You could tell easily that this girl had something for you from the startled expressions and act of running away and hiding from seeing you

It's like a little rabbit seeing a predator

However, you couldn't quite determine whether it was because she liked you or she was scared of you

You thought it might be the latter, but the reactions her friends gave suggested the former

Nothing really happened for a long time so you thought she would never arrive to confession

She proved you wrong

...but only after one whole year

She finally stopped you at recess all nervous and fidgety, she looked like she was on the verge of crying

She handed you a lovely envelope and just ran

You didn't even get a chance to stop her and she's just gone

The letter was well written, well decorated and very cute

She expressed all the feelings she had for you in her neat handwriting

There were cute drawings decorated throughout the page, indicating how much energy she put into this

Since she already gave you love letter, you knew it was impossible to receive a love confession in person now, so you decided to chase her down yourself

You caught her after class one day, then kabedon'ed her so she won't run away again

She was squealing silently and almost died from your action

She thought you were going to beat her up

When you took out a familiar well kept envelop and said that you accept her confession

She practically stopped functioning. It took her several seconds to process what you said

When she finally understood it, she looked at your with sparkling eyes, asking for a reaffirmation

You repeated your words

She got so happy that she was jumping up and down

Some passing students heard the commotion and checked what was happening

She didn't even notice them

She was just happy to finally be with you

Also I don't even know if this counts as hc anymore because it feels kinda long

Don't ask me why yachi's part is so long, she was too cute and my brain turned to a jumbled goo from the cuteness attack so that's probably why I wrote too much

“Did you ever keep a diary as a kid?” You want to know, rifling through Tadashi’s nightstand to find the book you’d left last time you slept over.

“I mean, I had them,” he says, response slow like he’s trying to remember. “I wasn’t really good at keeping up with it, though. I think I had like five at one point that all had only two or three entries. I just didn’t want to ruin that nice new notebook, you know?”

“Yeah,” you say thoughtfully, pulling out the tome you were looking for with an expression of triumph. “I don’t think I ever managed to do it consistently until like, last year.”

“That’s better than most people,” he shrugs, hauling you back by your hips next to him on the bed, where you settle your head on his shoulder, enjoying his clean, fresh-detergent smell and light touch. “What do you journal about?”

“Kind of whatever,” you shrug. “Mostly what I did that day as a memory exercise. I like going back and rereading stuff from the beginning of our relationship sometimes.”

“You wrote about me?” His voice is soft, shy. You pat his cheek.

“Yeah, definitely,” you laugh, “I think I went home and wrote poetry about you two dates in or something. Yeugh.”

Tadashi looks up at you, and it’s almost alarming how fast the blood rushes to your cheeks. “You’ve written poetry about me?”

“I didn’t mean to say that,” you say, all your breath caught in your chest. “Oh, my God, you did not hear that.”

“No,” a slow smile spreads over his face, putting dimples in his freckled cheeks. You lean back a little as he leans forward, showing you the little gap between his two shiny white front teeth. “I did, actually. And as your muse, I have a right to read it.”

“Nooo,” you moan, sliding from your seat on the bed until you’re staring up at the ceiling and your bent knees are holding you in a bridge position. “It’s not even, like—I barely knew you and I think I was kind of tipsy, when I wrote it, I mean—I’ve written much better poetry about you since then—fuck!”

You slap a hand over your mouth, but it’s too late. He’s crawling over you, crowding you until you’re comfortably laying on the bed, arms up by your ears and deceivingly sadistic sweetheart of a boyfriend hovering over you, his body burning you everywhere he touches.

“I wanna see it,” he says, voice quiet and teasing. “Pretty please? With a strawberry on top?”

You can’t even look away from him, batting his lashes, trying to charm you into giving him what he wants. He’s got a little victorious spark in his eyes, like he already knows he’s won. How are you supposed to say no?

Movie Night

It was a Saturday night. After getting rid of the tiredness of the week on Friday evening, you decided to have a movie night with your boyfriend.

You trusted Yamaguchi's movie taste. So most of the time you would leave the choice to him. He always picked the best movies for the two of you, and you usually watched Disney movies.

You've been looking forward to the movie you're going to watch tonight.

Yamaguchi had gone to the market to buy some snacks to eat while watching a movie.

It was about to get dark. As soon as you heard the bell ring, you ran to the door.

When you opened the door, Yamaguchi greeted you with his usual sweet smile.

"Hello beauty. Look what I brought you"

He held up the snack packs he was holding and showed you

“Oh you're awesome! I am sure it will go very well while watching the movie”

"It'll be even better watching it with you."

He handed you the packages to hold and took off his shoes and went inside.

“So what movie are we watching?” you asked curiously

"I don't know. See for yourself when I open it”

“Oh Yamaguchi. You leave me wondering"

"Curiosity is good," he chuckled and ruffled his hair.

You took your snacks and went to the TV. You closed the curtains and turned off the lights. Yamaguchi started the movie and lay down on the sofa. You slept on your boyfriend's stomach too. Your ear was on his stomach and you could hear strange sounds coming from his stomach.

“Yamaguchi…your stomach is growling” you laughed

He replied with a giggle

"Really? It often groans and sometimes humiliates me in public.”

"Let it be. I still like to put my head on your stomach. Soft like a pillow. In fact, I prefer your beautiful belly over a pillow.”

You wrapped your arms tighter around his waist. His hands went to his hair and ruffled his hair

"You are so sweet. You can sleep on my stomach any time you want. Let's watch the movie now."

your eyes shone and your lips parted at the sight of the chubby little knitted frog seated on your desk with the dopiest grin on its face and the sweet little black bead eyes it had on its head. yamaguchi was a little nervous, you were staring at it for quite some time now. "so, u-um... is it any, uh..." "...it'd adorable, yamaguchi." you whispered, giggling under your breath. you gently squeezed its stomach, gasping a little at how soft its belly was. "i-it's so fluffy!" you exclaimed, very flustered, yet in awe at yamaguchi's prowess for crocheting.

yamaguchi's freckled face erupted into a blushing frenzy, a darling smile on his curved lips as he fidgeted with his fingers, those very same fingers that tirelessly worked on this little frog guy for you. "n-no way! i actually, um... i was actually worried it wouldn't be that good, but... i'm glad you like it." he gushed, his smile widening, his pearly whites showing, lighting up the whole room with his innocent sweetness radiating and warming up the space between you two. it made you a lot more shy now, seeing the boy you adored get all uneasy yet so happy to hear you praise him and his work.

you smiled, your eyes staring into his own that darted from every corner of the room, avoiding your gaze because he knows that if he looks into your eyes now... he might never recover from the sheer happiness and giddiness he'd get from looking into your beautiful eyes. "it's nothing special though..." "nonsense, tadashi. it's the most beautiful frog i've ever seen, and you're the most beautiful boy i've ever seen, s-so... there!" you exclaim, quite bashful at the lack of proper sense you think your statement had, but those words you uttered sent his heart into a thumping frenzy.

yamaguchi's face flared up, he looked like a bright, red, ripe tomato; he was smiling like a dork now, unable to take all the sweetness and affection you were giving him. and you, in your equally flustered daze, were also getting hot all over, unable to look him in the eye as you tried to stop yourself from grinning, squeezing the poor frog fellow in your palm, loving it and loving him even more.

you two hopeless shy romantics could only throw compliments back and forth as if you were in a volleyball rally, and honestly? this was just the way you two loved spending time with each other. nothing could ever compete his smile and your sweetness, you were both oh so perfect for each other, the little frog guy agrees as you both think of what to name it, your hands so close to each other's, your pinky fingers awkwardly brushing over the other's as you both try to keep the fluster away... and ultimately kept failing spectacularly.

The better fries

Yamaguchi x gn!reader

this was inspired by a conversation i had w @kairismess hehe

I haven't written anything for yams in a WHIIIILE so I'm very happy to be reviving yet another one of my boys🥺

"So what you're saying is... soggy fries are better?" you blinked in shock at Yamauchi's confession. He nodded, slightly confused at your offended tone and reaching for another fry.

"Sorry to break it to you, but that opinion is just plain wrong." you narrowed your eyes at him and he laughed awkwardly in response.

"Crispy fries are way better! It makes me personally offended that my own boyfriend can't see that."

"Okay, okay, I get it..." he looked away nervously at how loud you were right now. Is it even such a big deal? Or are you just jokingly exaggerating your anger?

"Here, let me prove it to you." You said, placing the tip of a crispy fry in your mouth and walking over to the other side of the restaurant table where Yamaguchi was sat. He looked confused, raising an eyebrow at you.

You slowly leaned closer to him, watching as he gradually turned redder and redder. His eyebrows furrowed in half confusion half embarrasment.

"U-Um, what are- mmph!" you quickly took the opportunity to press your lips to his, slipping the crispy french fry into his mouth in the process.

It was like he was frozen in shock for a few seconds, but then he suddenly reanimated and pushed you away gently, his chest heaving as he swallowed the french fry.

You giggled at the redness of his face. "What was th-that?!" he yelled, clearly flustered out of his mind.

"See, aren't crispy fries better?" you smiled innocently at him, knowing he won't be able to reply for a solid 5 minutes.
