"bes camp counselor hcs"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my camp counselor drawings have been plaguing my brain but I always write headcanons before I ever write full fics. This was not proofread because I’m sleepy
Also I'm begging to request modern Mizu stuff, especially this camp counselor au :3 I wanna write silly slice of life again!!
pairing: mizu x fem! reader (other characters mentioned)
tags: pre-established relationship, summer camp au, modern au, band+uni au mentioned, fluff/overall silly stuff
Eiji owns the camp! He owns a couple of businesses here and there, but he offers kendo, iaido, and metalworking activities for all ages throughout summer– his day camp is for elementary kids though.
Before Mizu moved out to attend university, she helped around with Eiji's kitchenware business and helped out making kendo and iaido kits after school. She’s been doing her camp counseling gig since she was a teenager– of course, she still counsels when she visits Eiji for the summer.
She actually had no idea she could do this for volunteer hours until she found a brochure for it. She had to call Eiji to ask when he even started providing this
She considered going to visit Eiji alone in her first year of uni, but this time, she took you, Taigen, Akemi, and Ringo with her!
Mizu actually talked to you first about going back to her hometown to visit Eiji and help out with counseling, and you agreed, of course.
The rest of your friendgroup only learned about you and her leaving for the summer when you all went out to study together during the last month before summer break.
Akemi wanted to go due to her horrible seasonal depression– she'd rather have something to that isn’t just summer classes or rotting in the heat. She's just a snow princess, what can I say :(
Anyway, she thought the volunteer hours would be beneficial to her, so she asked if she could bring Taigen along.
Ringo also wanted to come for the volunteering– it would also give him an excuse to cook without destroying his personal budget. He also didn’t have anything to do over the summer, and would rather do something with the people he cares about instead of staying at his dorm or going home.
Mizu decided on getting there by doing a road trip but she absolutely refused to have anyone but you in her car– I mean, you're literally her beloved girlfriend! She doesn't want to hear any bickering from the rest of her friends– not for three or four hours while she's behind the wheel.
She’s so serious when it comes to prepping for road trips, but she does it all so quickly. Somehow she had the car all packed while you were getting ready.
Mizu doesn’t really need to take breaks as she drives, but if you wanted to take a nap, she’s already packed a few pillows and blankets for you to use.
Eiji's camp isn't an overnight one, so Akemi made arrangements to stay at a nearby apartment with Taigen. She didn't want Ringo to stress about finding a place to stay, so she got a place for him just next door in the same building.
Mizu's old room was big enough for the both of you, so she just called ahead to ask Eiji if it was okay if you stayed with her. He didn't mind– you had met before anyway, and he approved of you
You all got there a week before orientation day to get your equipment, clean, and debrief with Eiji
He had a set schedule for everybody with backup plans set up incase if there needed to be changes, but otherwise, you'd know what to do with the notes he made. He wouldn't be around much to help out since he'll be occupied with the kendo and iaido groups. He'll be there every morning for announcements though
Orientation day went smoothly; Eiji gave his greetings and introduced all of you to the kids– they were no older than elementary students. After he finished his speech and introductions, he let you all read off your attendance list to get your groups
Mizu made sure your groups rooms were nearby beforehand– luckily, everyone's rooms were in or at least near the same hallway.
Akemi absolutely adored her group! First, they were all girls, second, they all loved her! Eiji made it a requirement to wear bandanas on field trips so it's easier to spot staff and campers. Akemi sets aside time before they leave to do a few of the kids hair if they'd like their bandanas incorporated into a cute hairstyle. She wanted to get the kids into reading, so she made sure to bring a fully charged kindle everyday to read some of her favorite child friendly literature with a bit of poetry here and there. They didn't understand most of the poems, but she appreciates the effort they made to listen to her
Taigen is an instigator. It doesn't matter if they're literally 10 year olds– he'll unintentionally and intentionally instigate during activities. His group likes him and he likes his group, but they get competitive as hell when it comes to being as cool as him. He wanted to try to teach the kids how to play ultimate frisbee until he noticed how competitive they could be— it was best for him to put it off.
Kids rarely ever hate Ringo, so of course his group loved him. They act up occasionally– not intentionally since they're literally children, but they feel deep guilt when they upset Ringo because of their activity. Ringo especially likes doing high energy activities with his group first so they'll be tired out after lunch.
Mizu's group is kind of terrified of her because of how quiet she can be, but they think she's really cool. When she isn't doing activities, she's sitting at a table in her room to monitor her group while she reads here and there. She set up some coloring pages on the same table, so of course, a few kids were going to sit with her. She isn't bad at talking to kids, she just doesn't think she's interesting to them. Even if she's relatively blunt, the kids still think she's the coolest! They just have no idea how to get closer to her.
On field trips, Eiji usually drives one bus and gets a few other instructors from his martial art courses to drive another if needed.
Kids will fight to sit next to Mizu. A few kids from her group deeply disliked you for a brief period of time just because you would always sit next to her. Mizu thought it was funny seeing you distraught over their disapproval, but planned to merge your groups soon enough just so they got to know you better.
Akemi likes merging her group with Taigens on field trips just so she can take embarrassing pictures of him. He doesn't find out about those pictures until he checks her stories after the day ends.
All of you dread zoo, museum, and aquarium trips. It's always so frustrating compromising for each of the kids when they want to see something– especially when they get fussy. Mizu often asks for you to watch her group for a second while she sneaks off to the gift shop to buy you something
She does that on non-field day trips too actually. She'll ask Ringo and Akemi to take your groups during lunch every once in awhile so she can take you out on a little lunch date. The kids tease the hell out of you when you come back hand in hand, singing that y/n and Mizu kissing in a tree song. You both think it's cute until Mizu had enough of hearing it.
Akemi absolutely has favorites. One of the little girls she looks after is just a mini Akemi and she loves her dearly. On one swimming trip, she brought a few of her expensive sun care products and the girl asked her what she was using. She gave a detailed explanation of each product and offered to give her a little of the gentle products that were safe for her skin. For every other field trip, she's the first in line to get her hair done
Ringo is so over prepared for everything. He keeps a bag full of supplies of any sort in one of the buses, and in his room. Medical supplies, allergy free snacks, chargers, you name it.
The band made sure they brought their instruments with them (since they couldn't just stop practicing for an entire summer) and Eiji figured the kids would think a show would be nice. Mizu didn't want to carry this out since it would be a pain to set up, but Eiji just up and left before she could give her reasons to give up this idea.
Akemi and Ringo were thrilled to show the kids their instruments after their little show. Akemi had a few kids around her teaching them scales on her keyboard, letting them practice if they'd like and Ringo let a few kids play with his drums as long as they promised to be gentle.
Mizu and Taigen were reluctant to let any kids touch their instruments. Mizu also had to make the bass ≠ electric guitar speech too many times for her liking, even if her corrections were just "no, this is called a bass," "it's a bass," or "Taigen's is an electric guitar, this is a bass guitar."

a/n: helloo, it's been a long time but here we are again with a new part. this turned out longer than i expected and i apologise, but i wanted to mainly show how these two got together and how it was that things started off for them, as well as how the dynamic of their friend group used to be before everything went down. in other words, and as you can see in the verse of the song i quoted, this part's gonna be more on the fluffy side (but not completely lol), so i hope you enjoy this small part of their story!
feedback is very dearly appreciated<3

You had never been a big fan of packing, but you were quite excited about the trip with your friends the next day. To be honest, you did not used to be a big fan of camping either, until that first year in college when summer came and Jeongin mentioned this one place he and his family used to go camping when he was little.
Everyone was so excited about it that you couldn't say no. Seungmin wouldn't have let you miss out on it and abandon him anyway.
And, in the end, you were glad you hadn't stayed home instead. It turned out to be a really precious bonding time for all of you, to the point that you all agreed to make it a summer vacation tradition — every single year of college, without missing a beat, all eleven of you would drive outside the city and ventour into the forest to have what you liked to call your much needed healing time.
Although the entirety of your friend group had graduated college last year, you had promised to keep making time for your yearly camping trip.
Minji hadn't been able to keep that promise that particular year, given she got an internship in the States and had left a little over a month and a half before summer started. She had promised over and over before leaving that she would most definitely make it next year, and you were all counting on that.
You were sad that she wouldn't make it, for now you would only have Hyejin to fight the potentially annoying male species you'd be hanging out with.
And there was also the fact that you thought Hyunjin wouldn't feel like going anymore. Sure, he would go, for he had promised and he loved spending time with all of you, but a part of you believed he wouldn't be the same since Minji wouldn't be there — that he wouldn't be as eager about the trip as he always was.
It was the way he hugged her and visibly didn't want to let go when you had all gone to send her off and she was about to walk through security. After witnessing that, you had convinced yourself that Hyunjin wouldn't be himself until she came back.
You had decided to give him space. You knew you'd be the same if you ever lost Seungmin, and that without being in love with him.
It would be good for you, too. Giving Hyunjin space and letting him find himself without his beloved best friend meant not seeing him for a while, and therefore, finally being able to focus on moving on from your stupid crush on him.
Only that you wanting to give him space didn't exactly mean he wanted to take that space away from you. So you knew when not even a week after Minji's departure he was calling you up to hang out.
Most of your friends would be there, minus Felix and Hyejin, who had already made plans alone, so you accepted. It had started out just like that, at least — hanging out with your group of friends, the way you always had. But now his attention was only on you, and his eyes would oh-so-naturally fix on you like it was their default target.
It didn't stop there. Hanging out with everyone else yet only focusing on you turned into making plans for just the two of you. You had been ecstatic the first time he asked you out — as friends, of course. He had a shitty day at work and wanted to go out for some coffee, but he didn't feel like being around a large group of people. You accepted in a heartbeat, so happy about getting to spend some time alone with him that you completely forgot about the whole 'getting over him' goal you had going on.
So happy to finally get the attention you wanted from him, that you didn't stop for one second to think whether he would be asking you to get some coffee with him if Minji were still here.
But it didn't matter, because one coffee date turned into two, and then two turned into three. Friendly dates turned into 'oh, maybe this is not so friendly' ones. Sunset walks turned into watching movies at either one of your places. Late night calls on the days you didn't get to see each other turned into texting all throughout the day, every day; which led to getting goodnight and good morning text messages with definitely-not-so-friendly hearts attached to them.
Just like that, Hyunjin was just as eager as every other year to go on this trip. And you? God, you couldn't wait for the day to arrive so you could spend even more time with him. You were mainly expectant of the bonfire at night — you had always loved the way the fire illuminated his factions from afar. He always managed to look extra cozy and your heart would flutter with every single glimpse. This year, though, you hoped you'd get to sit next to him, and maybe, if you were lucky enough, you'd get to share a blanket with him; as childish as it sounded.
Your daydreaming got interrupted by your phone buzzing on your night table, making you jump from your bed to pick it up and then feel your heart do a backflip when you read Hyunjin's name on the screen.
Fixing your hair as fast as you could and making sure your face looked presentable enough for him to see, you answered his video call.
"Hey, cutie" he greeted as soon as your face was visible on the screen.
You smiled timidly, feeling the heat reach your cheeks at the sound of that simple pet name. "You do realise it's midnight, don't you?"
"You answered anyway" he smirked triumphantly, earning a roll of eyes from you. "Why? Did I wake you?"
"No," you shook your head, looking down to your packed bag on your bed. "I was kinda going through everything I needed to pack, to make sure I won't forget anything".
"Well, in case you forgot to pack mosquito repellent like last year, I'm glad to inform you I've kindly packed some for you".
A small, breathy laugh escaped your mouth. "Why, thank you" you brought a dramatic hand to your chest. "Did I really traumatize you last year for that to be the first thing to come to mind when packing for me?"
"I wouldn't say traumatized…" he mumbled, looking down to what you guessed was his bag, as he unzipped it. "But you did make me so fucking worried when you came out of your tent that morning all covered in mosquito bites, so…"
Watching him show the repellent bottle to the camera, you couldn't help the throaty laugh that ran past your mouth this time, hearing him follow along the moment the sound you made reached his ears.
"You really didn't have to…"
"Did you remember to pack it this time?" he tested you.
"No, but—but," you quickly emphasized at the sight of his daring eyes. "Minnie always brings some. I was just too lazy to go up to his tent at night when I realised I hadn't asked him for it last year. I didn't think it would be that bad".
"Well, now you've got your own personal bottle of it" he pointed out, stuffing it back into his bag. "So no need to go to his tent if you forget to ask him for it again".
Too enchanted by that thoughtful act of service of his, you didn't realise you were staring until he blushed and cleared his throat.
"What?" he shyly asked.
"Huh?" you snapped out of it.
"I don't know, I… you weren't like, saying anything and—"
"Oh, no, I just…" you felt your cheeks burn once again. "Thank you. You're cute".
He laughed breathily, almost inaudibly. "I'm cute?"
"You know what I mean" you glared.
"I'd like to think you mean something else, though…"
You needed to take a deep, rather shaky, breath at that. Keeping yourself composed was not an easy thing to do when he said things like that.
"So, um… What were you calling for?"
He shrugged, letting you get away with your change of subject and lying back on his mattress. "Just wanted to talk to you".
"At midnight?" you raised an eyebrow.
"Got a problem with it?"
"Not really," you chuckled. "But we're seeing each other in a couple of hours, in case you forgot".
"Oh, I'm well aware of it," he nodded, tiredly placing an arm over his eyes. "Still wanted to talk to you before going to bed".
"Clingy" you teased.
The smile that curved up the corners of his plump lips made you wish you were there with him, lying your head on his chest and playing with his hair, instead of having to settle down for seeing him through a screen.
"It's gonna be a different trip this time around, huh?" you mumbled after a few seconds in which silence had taken over.
"Yeah…" he agreed quietly, removing his arm from his face and lying on his side. "It's gonna be weird without Minji".
You hummed in response. "I'll only have Hyejin to fight you guys now, and that's when she and Lix aren't all over each other".
"You'll have me, though" he smiled innocently.
You snorted. "Please, you'd drop me in a heartbeat to join the guys when they pick on me".
"That is so not true" he argued, squinting his eyes at you.
"I guess we'll see what happens when the time comes," you taunted him. "You think you'll still be able to have as much fun?"
"You mean without Minji?"
You nodded silently, bracing yourself for the answer you didn't want to know yet had not been able to stop yourself from asking about.
"Sure," he nodded confidently, making your heart feel at ease. "I've got you, it's gonna be just as fun".
"You think so?" you whispered.
"Of course!" he reassured you. "Let's go in the same car tomorrow, we can sit together and share earphones".
"I'm taking Changbin's car" you pointed out.
"Cool," he nodded. "I'll let him know I'm taking his too, then".
"No but, you know what that means, right?"
His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Not really…"
You chuckled. "It means he'll make me go on the passenger seat so I can lead the way for him, since he always seems to miss the entrance to the camping site".
"Can't he have someone else to do it?"
"He doesn't really trust any of the guys when it comes to giving directions," you shook your head. "And I respect him for it, honestly. Last time we had Felix give out directions we nearly ended up in Busan".
He puffed his cheeks cutely, in a way that had your heart melting in a second. "Good thing Airpods are a thing then. We can still share".
"And miss Binnie's carpool?"
"You know what, if you hate me just say so".
A throaty laugh escaped your mouth at his salty remark, staring at him through the screen in such a loving way that for a second there you feared he would realise your feelings for him.
"I guess we can share Airpods" you rolled your eyes in amusement, having him happily laugh under his breath. "Don't be too surprised when I start singing along to whatever Binnie's playing on the radio, though".
"I will feel slightly neglected but I get it" he sighed overdramatically.
Covering the yawn coming out of your mouth with your hand, you sleepily stared at him on the screen. "We should go to sleep now…"
"Are you trying to get rid of me now?"
"I'm sleepy..."
"But you look so cute like that" he cooed.
"It's nearly one in the morning, Hwang Hyunjin" you tried your best to sound stern and hide your smile. "We leave at seven".
"Alright," he sighed once more, closing his eyes. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?"
You nodded, a small smile making its way on your face. "See you tomorrow, Hyunie".
He smiled blissfully. "See you tomorrow, cutie".
-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-♡
"Can we stop to get some food?" Seungmin asked from the backseat.
You laughed over Changbin's heavy sigh next to you. It had only been half an hour since you left Seoul, and there was still another hour to go, yet you couldn’t say you were entirely surprised over your best friend’s request.
The trip had been smooth so far, way too smooth — Changbin and Jeongin loudly singing to any song that came on the playlist being the only sense of disruption in the car. You remained silently staring out the window, lightly bopping your head to the beat of the music coming from the Airpod you were sharing with Hyunjin. It was a funny contrast, having Binnie and Innie singing at the top of their lungs to nothing but upbeat songs, while Hyunjin and you listened to slower, calmer ones and quietly stared at the passing scenery outside.
The somewhat balanced atmosphere you all had managed to create was just bound to be disrupted by your best friend at some point.
"I asked you all if you wanted to stop for food before hitting the highway and you said you wanted to have breakfast at the camping site".
Seungmin pouted, childishly sinking against his seat and crossing his arms over his chest. "I wanted to live the full camping experience, but I take it back now, I'm hungry".
"Well, too bad because I'm not stopping until we get there".
Hearing Seungmin whine behind you in what sounded more like a tantrum, you couldn't help but laugh, staring at him through the rearview mirror before your eyes unconsciously fixed on Hyunjin by the window. He was laughing over your best friend's scene too, and his eyes were already on you. You held his stare through the reflection for a moment, enjoying the sight of his smile and the sound of his giggle before you looked down in a poor attempt to calm your racing heart.
Clearing your throat, you reached down to the backpack by your feet and rummaged through it until you found the snacks you had packed that morning before heading out, precisely in case something like this happened.
Without a word, you reached your hand behind your seat, giggling to yourself when you felt the pack of cookies being snatched from your hold not even a second later.
"You're the best, I swear to God" Seungmin managed to say with his mouth already full. "You better be selling these at our coffee shop once we open it".
You chuckled. "I will".
"Wait, those are homemade?" Jeongin asked from the middle seat.
"Mhm…" you nodded, leaning slightly back when he peeked his head through your seat.
"You have more?"
"Take some from Seungm—"
"No way, they're mine" Seungmin growled.
Rolling your eyes, you leaned down to your backpack once more, defeatedly looking for another bag of cookies you had thankfully packed as well.
"These are double chocolate chips," you let Jeongin know as you handed them to him. "Please share them with Hyunjin in case he wants some".
"I do want some!" he stated from behind, having your amused eyes instinctively fix on him through the rearview mirror, right as he eagerly dug his hand into the bag.
"And what about me?" Changbin whined. "You all are lucky I care about your lives and can't just turn around and snatch them from you right now".
You chuckled, reaching your hand behind your seat, and opening your palm. "Minnie".
The sound of his name coming out of your mouth was all it took for a single cookie to be reluctantly placed on it.
"Here," you called Changbin's attention, motioning for him to open his mouth.
"Is it red velvet?" he asked, opening his mouth and taking a bite regardless, as he was ready to eat whatever it was you decided to feed him.
As soon as he tasted them, he dramatically threw his head back and hit the border of the steering wheel.
"Fuck! They're so good".
You laughed, lightheartedly shaking your head at his reaction. Not even ten seconds later, he was opening his mouth again and leaning slightly over your side for you to feed him the remaining of the cookie you had managed to get from Seungmin.
Having fed him and watching him happily munch on it, you leaned back against your seat, closing your eyes to go back to listening to Hyunjin's playlist like you had been doing before this whole cookies situation took place — only for Traitor by Olivia Rodrigo to start playing.
Almost jumping from your seat, you turned around, staring at Hyunjin in utter disbelief while your jaw comically dropped.
"You did not just do that" you accused him.
He chuckled, staring down with a proud smirk at the unlocked phone in his hands as he seemed to look for another song. His point had already been made.
"What happened?" Jeongin wondered.
"Nothing, Hyunjin's just an idiot" you replied, tauntingly squinting your eyes at Hyunjin, only for his smile to grow.
"At least I'm not a traitor" his smile turned into a cynical smirk.
"A traitor why?" Seungmin's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Who's a traitor?" Changbin joined in.
"It's nothing" Hyunjin brushed it off, his eyes never leaving yours.
"Oh, so you guys have reached the internal jokes stage now?"
"Shut up…" you felt the heat reach your face, turning around to sit properly and look ahead to the road.
Olivia’s voice stopped being heard, and it was replaced by Lauv’s, as I Like Me Better began to play. You looked down to your lap and tried to contain your smile. It had been ages since you last listened to that song, and a part of you, the delusional one that was head over heels for Hyunjin, wanted to believe he was dedicating it to you right then.
Looking out the window when you managed to conceal your blissfulness and everyone seemed to already be back in their own world, you decided to just focus on the road and stop giving too much thought to the song choice of his throughout the ride. He was using a playlist after all.
Nevertheless, you couldn’t help your mind from wandering and daydreaming all the way to the camping site, making it hard for you to focus on your duty as the designated human GPS.
You weren't sure if Changbin was right about you and Hyunjin having reached the 'internal jokes stage' yet, but you realised later that day that you had definitely reached some kind of complicity. You couldn't put your finger on when along the journey of the two of you growing closer it happened, but now your eyes would naturally lock whenever someone said anything slightly funny or even questionable. It was as if you wanted, needed, to share even the most minimal and mundane of things with each other.
And you hadn't noticed it was that obvious to everyone else until Hyejin pointed it out when you were setting up your tent later that afternoon. To say you were struggling a little bit was an understatement; it was a tent for three, and usually Minji was there to help set it up as well. You would definitely have some extra room that night.
Still, as focused on finding the correct corner of the fabric to stake it to the ground as she was, Hyejin managed to bring the topic up.
"So, what's going on with you and Hyunjin?"
"What do you mean?" you frowned, letting go of the fabric you were holding onto.
"Oh, come on, I'm not blind" she squinted her eyes. "Something definitely changed between you two".
"I mean, yeah, but…" you shrugged. “We’re just closer now, I guess”.
“I’ve seen the heart eyes, Y/N”.
“As if my heart eyes for him are anything new”.
“I meant his”.
You went silent, feeling your cheeks heat up and your hands shake. To have someone else notice it, too, only made it feel more real.
“You guys need help?” Felix interrupted before you could try and say anything back.
His arm was naturally resting over Hye’s shoulders, and although she visibly appreciated the offer, she settled for an obnoxious roll of eyes.
“We’re not damsels in danger” she playfully shoved his arm off.
Felix snorted. “Maybe not but you guys are clearly struggling here”.
“I could use some help” you admitted, getting a triumphant smile from Lix before he grabbed the fabric you had let go of a minute ago and began to stake it to the ground.
“But what about our girl talk” Hyejin pouted.
“Girl talk?” Felix looked at her with furrowed eyebrows.
She nodded, and just like that his eyes went to you — realisation hitting him in a second.
“Let me guess, you guys are talking about Hyunjin”.
You nearly choked on air. “We're not”.
"We're not?" Hyejin teased you, receiving a glare from you in a heartbeat.
“Ah, you guys can go on then" Felix nodded understandingly, with a glimpse of a smirk curving up his lips. "I already know all about it anyway".
Hyejin raised both hands up in defense when your glare was once again on her. "Don't look at me, remember he's Hyunjin's best friend after all".
Lix's smirk was now on full display. "I know things neither of you two know".
"There's not much to know, though? Right?" you awkwardly fidgeted in your place. "Hyunjin doesn't talk about me, does he?"
Felix and Hyejin exchanged an incredulous look, deciding right then to just leave it there and let you figure it out on your own. They knew you well enough to know you wouldn’t believe any of it unless you heard it directly from Hyunjin; and maybe even then you would still doubt it all.
“Anyway,” Felix shrugged, going back to his previous task. “Let’s set this shit up”.
“Language!” Hyejin reprimanded him.
You laughed at the exchange, going over to Hyejin so you could work together while Felix focused on the other corner of your tent. Even though you could feel their stares on you, you were just glad the topic seemed to be over with.
-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-♡
Turned out that setting up a tent with Felix and Hyejin was just a call to be kicked out of it as soon as it was done, so they could take a nap inside and just like that make you their third wheel. Not like you really cared, for you took a blanket and placed it under one of the trees that were farther away from everyone.
Lying down on it, you used your arms as a pillow while you looked up to the bright green leaves and the rays of sunshine peeking through them. You truly loved this camping site. It was quiet, with enough space for your entire group and the right amount of distance from other campers in the area.
The grass was green and abundant, the trees provided enough shadow for you not to go mad over how hot the summer weather was, and there was a lake only a five-minute walk from there. You would probably go there a little before the sun set; everyone seemed to be too immersed in their own activities to propose a walk to the lake anytime soon.
Seungmin and Jeongin were still setting up their tent, as they had been too busy whining about having to set it up before to actually do it. Chan, Han and Changbin were drinking and chatting the afternoon away, after having managed to clean up and put everything from your lunch away, since they had been chosen to be on cleaning up duty by a very fair game of rock, paper, scissors. Minho was lying on a blanket a few meters from you, scrolling through his phone. Felix and Hyejin were napping; and Hyunjin… you actually had no idea where Hyunjin was.
“Wanna go to the lake?”
As if reading your thoughts, there he was, kneeling on the edge of your blanket as he patiently waited for your answer.
You tilted your head up to look at him, still a bit stunned over both his timing and his suggestion. Nevertheless, you nodded, not having to think twice before you sat up.
“Are the others coming?”
“Nah,” he shrugged, standing up and giving you a hand to help you up as well. “They said they’re going later”.
“Shouldn’t we wait for them then?” you quietly asked.
Hyunjin brought a dramatic hand up to his chest. “If you don’t wanna be alone with me just say so”.
You scoffed, acting just as offended as he was. “That’s not what I said at all?!”
“Then?” he smiled, tilting his head in the lake’s direction.
Rolling your eyes while the biggest of smiles took over your face, you followed him. He knew the way to the lake by heart, you realised, as he seemed to avoid branches you wouldn’t have noticed were there if it weren’t for him dodging them before you. Although maybe it just had to do with the fact that you were too focused on him to pay attention to your surroundings.
After five minutes in which thankfully you made it out intact, you finally reached your destination. You smiled at the view of the crystalline water and the strong reflection of the sun on it, which you had to look away from in order not to be blinded. It looked the same as every other year, and a part of you was happy it remained the same throughout the time.
“Where are you going?” Hyunjin asked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion when you started walking towards the water.
“To lie down?” you answered, in what had seemed like more of a question.
“Not here” he shook his head.
“Why not?”
“Minho and Changbin are fishing here later”.
“So?”
“So, you know how loud those two are when they get frustrated” he reminded you, walking over to you and taking your hand so he could drag you with him. “I came here to recharge”.
Too stunned over the unexpected feel of his strong yet soft hand holding yours, you didn’t even object. You simply let him take you whenever it was he wanted to take you to — heart eyes stuck to the back of his head as he led the way.
“Recharge?” you mocked him regardless.
"Yeah?" he said, as if it was obvious. "Don't you need time to be alone and recharge after being with too many people for too long?"
"It's not even dinner time yet".
"And I'm already drained".
You chuckled at his tiresome remark, but decided to just leave it at that when you reached a bunch of rocks that blocked the way.
“Where exactly are we going?” you wondered, confusedly letting go of his hand when he began to climb them.
"Come here" he called, reaching his hand out for you.
“You want to lay down on top of these rocks?” you questioned, taking his hand nonetheless and allowing him to help you up. “Like, the view might be better, but I’m pretty sure lying down on sand is way better than lying down on a bunch of hard as hell rocks”.
“Oh, hush,” he amusedly shut you up, placing a gentle hand to your back after having let you go first so he could make sure you wouldn’t slip —and that he would catch you in case you did—. “You just keep climbing up and shut that pretty mouth of yours”.
You shut your mouth; not because he told you to, but because his words sounded lovely —although taunting— enough to bring heat to your cheeks and make you forget how to speak altogether.
He could tell the way you were feeling, you realised when you heard a breathy laugh escape his mouth. He was enjoying it too much, but it was fair, considering he wanted to have that kind of effect on you.
Thankfully, the climb up the rocks wasn’t that high, otherwise the tension taking over while his hand remained on your back and his heavy breathing would faintly hit your shoulder every other second, might’ve become too overwhelming for you to survive.
As soon as you reached the top and took a seat to look around, you were confused. You weren’t sure exactly where it was that he wanted you to go to next or even where to look at once up there, so you just turned around to him with knitted eyebrows as he finished climbing up and took a seat next to you. However, after taking what felt like five seconds to catch his breath, he stood up.
“Okay, now let’s go down” he offered his hand once more to help you up.
“What? Like, to the same place we just came up from?”
He chuckled, amusedly shaking his head before he leaned down to grab your upper arm and help you up. “Will you just trust me on this?”
“I mean, you could be taking me to my deathbed right now and I wouldn’t even know”.
He rolled his eyes, carefully guiding you over to the other end of the rocks, so you could begin your two minutes journey down. “Everyone knows you’re with me right now, wouldn’t be really smart for me to murder you”.
“Reassuring” you smiled cynically, earning a throaty laugh from him and a light —actually reassuring— squeeze from his hand.
Without another word, you let him help you on your way down. It was cute how focused he was on making sure you wouldn’t have trouble with it and wouldn’t get hurt, to the point he tripped at one point; thankfully only right before you reached the safety of the ground, so it didn’t really matter.
"What even is this place?" you breathily let out, turning around to finally take a look at your surroundings.
It was only then that you realised what he had meant by ‘alone’ and ‘recharging’. The place he had taken you to seemed to be another shore within the same lake; a much smaller one, which could comfortably fit around five or six people at most.
The rocks formed some kind of fence around a few meters of the lake, which was tall enough to keep people from seeing what was on the other side, and which made most of them —you included— believe that was all there was to it: Just a bunch of rocks.
Only the curious ones who were willing to climb said bunch of rocks for no apparent reason, like Hyunjin, were privileged enough to discover such a gemstone.
"I don't even know, to be honest" Hyunjin laughed, walking up to the spot close to the water where one of the rocks blocked the sun and provided some shadow. "Found it the first time we came here. Minji and I were taking a walk and I felt like climbing all the way up the rocks and came across this place. I don't think anyone knows about it".
"Well, I surely didn't" you confirmed, looking around in awe. It almost felt cozy, like a small fort you would build as a child. "You and Minji did a pretty good job at keeping it from us".
"Oh, Minji doesn't know about it".
You stopped in your tracks, almost not believing your ears. "She… she doesn't?"
"Nope," he shrugged, sitting down on the sand and patting the spot next to him for you to do the same.
When you hesitated, visibly having a hard time believing him, he sighed.
"Why'd you even believe I told her?"
"I mean… Wasn’t she with you?” you questioned, finally sitting down next to him.
He shook his head no. “She didn’t want to climb up with me. I mean, she was wearing a dress, so I guess it’s understandable” a chuckle abandoned his lips, and a bittersweet smile crept up in yours over the fact that he even remembered what she was wearing on the first day you ever came here years ago. “But yeah, I saw this place from all the way up and just kept it to myself. I could use some peace of mind during these trips”.
“You say it like we’re chaotic as hell” you laughed.
“Aren’t you?” he taunted.
You playfully shoved him away. “You should really include yourself in that sentence, Hwang Hyunjin”.
“Nah, I don’t think I belong there” he denied, having a hard time holding his smile. “Which is why I kept this place all to myself this far”.
You bit your lip, concealing a smile not to show how flattered you were to be the first and only person he had ever shared this place with — for not only had he told you about it, but he had taken it upon himself to pull you away from your group of friends and take you all the way here with him.
“Minji would be so mad if she ever found out you kept this from her…”
Hyunjin shrugged, resting his head on yours and making goosebumps form on your skin. “I don’t have to share everything with her”.
“She’s your best friend, though” you pointed out.
“So?” he asked, sitting up. “Do you share everything with Seungmin?”
You stayed quiet. He had a point. You did mainly share everything with him, from your achievements to your failures, and from your happiness to your sadness. But there were still a few things you kept to yourself, like the way you had felt about Hyunjin all along. Yes, he knew you had a bit of a crush on him, and he also knew you had grown closer since Minji left, but your actual feelings for the guy next to you, he had no idea about.
Your feelings for Hyunjin were something you had decided to keep to yourself and deal with on your own. There was too much at stake, and you wanted to believe you’d have enough control over the situation in case things went south. As long as you didn’t tell anyone, even if it was obvious in their eyes, you liked to believe you would be able to just forget about it all at the snap of your fingers.
Hyunjin nodded to himself at your silence — unaware of what was going through your mind yet knowing that just like that he had proven his point.
“Besides, she’s a blabbermouth. She would’ve told everyone else by now”.
You snorted, looking down for a moment to hold your laughter and missing the way his eyes lit up at the sight of you. "I'm telling her you called her that".
"Ugh, don't tell me I brought a snitch to my precious secret spot" he whined, dramatically resting his head on your shoulder. "Is that all, though?"
"Hm?"
"I was supposed to tell her because she's my best friend?"
“No, but…” you stayed quiet for a moment, pondering whether you should say what was at the tip of your tongue or not. "It's just…"
"What is it?" he straightened up, furrowing his eyebrows as he waited for your answer.
"This is such a stereotypical making out spot".
He snorted, disbelief written all over his face. "What?"
"Yeah, like, think of all the couples that have found this place at some point and used it to do their thing".
"Ew," he cringed, glaring at you right after. "You did not just ruin my favourite spot for me".
"I'm just saying," you laughed, playfully shoving away the accusatory finger of his that was pointing at you. "This is like, the perfect making out spot to bring the person you have feelings for".
"I brought you, didn't I?"
Your cheeks were hit by a rush of heat instantly, and not even lowering your head helped you hide from him what his words had done to you.
"Stop…" you lightly shoved him away with your shoulder. "I guess it caught me off guard that you didn't bring her here at some point since you've always been in love with her".
"In love with her?" He looked incredulous; you just nodded. "I'm not, though?"
"Hyunjin…" you murmured, almost begging for him not try and fool you.
"I haven't always been in love with her…" he mumbled, looking down for a second before his eyes locked with yours. "Definitely am not in love with her anymore".
You smiled bittersweetly. "Right".
"I'm not, Y/N" he reassured you.
"Since when?" you wondered.
He said nothing — simply staring into your eyes was enough for you to have your answer.
Whatever was going on between the two of you was unspoken, recent, and therefore he couldn't give you a proper answer without having it turn out as a confession and risking scaring you away.
He wasn't confident enough to verbally confess the feelings he had caught for you this past month yet, but the sincerity in his eyes had managed to give you the answer you were looking for.
Since she left.
Since you and him grew closer together and something changed in the way he saw you.
"Is a month or so really enough to get over your best friend?" you mumbled.
"It's not like I was head over heels in love with her" he mindlessly played with the sand under his hands. "It was just… a little crush".
You laughed under your breath, shaking your head rather weakly as you laid your back on the sand — mentally scolding yourself for not having brought your blanket with you to lie down on.
A little crush. You should know about it.
You were sure just a little crush wouldn't make him look at her the way he did, and it most definitely wouldn't have him unconsciously call her the most beautiful woman his eyes had ever seen.
But you were done arguing with him. In the end, it changed nothing — he did feel some type of way for her before she left; and even after she left, up until you had come up to change that now, apparently.
Besides, no matter how hard you tried to fight it, a part of you believed him. He looked at you different now. He acted different around you. And although you tried not to fall for it, deep down you knew it was already a lost battle.
Not knowing what to say nor what to feel about his advances, you closed your eyes. You could feel him staring at you for a while, yet you were too shy to acknowledge it, until he finally laid down next to you.
"Are we napping now?" Hyunjin asked, changing the topic after getting the hint about you no longer wanting to talk about the whole feelings thing.
"You said you wanted to come here to recharge, didn't you?" you smiled.
Although your eyes remained closed, you felt him smile brightly next to you. "And napping is your way of recharging?"
"Isn't it yours?"
"I just wanted to come here and spend some time with you, if I'm honest".
At that, you opened your eyes. Much to your surprise, his dark brown ones were already focused on you.
"Thank you…" you smiled sweetly.
He looked confused. "What for?"
"For trusting me with your precious secret spot" your choice of words had him rolling his eyes. "I won't tell anyone about it, I promise".
Hyunjin smiled, no longer being able to hold himself back and throwing an arm around your shoulders. You didn't fight back when he pulled you to his chest, if anything, you made yourself comfortable on it.
"In case it wasn't clear, even if you did tell someone, because I can’t really trust you with Seungmin,” his statement earned an incredulous scoff from you. “You're not allowed to come here with anyone else but me".
You chuckled, shaking your head and closing your eyes once more as you relaxed under his touch. "Would never even dream to betray you like that".
-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-♡
"What took you guys so long?" Chan asked as soon as you and Hyunjin arrived back.
The sun had already set a couple of minutes ago, and you were met with an already lit up bonfire while all your friends sat down around it.
You didn't even have the chance to play your late arrival off by silently sitting down until someone noticed you had finally made it back, for all their eyes were fixed on you since the second you reached your camping spot. Not even the few branches you had collected on your way back, to make it seem like you had wandered off together with the intention to collect some for the bonfire, would help you out of this situation.
Having everyone silently questioning you right then, you came to the conclusion that maybe taking a nap wasn't the brightest of your ideas — not when you were a proper five minute walk from your camping spot and hadn't set up an alarm to wake you up from the dream you were having in the arms of the person your heart felt most at peace with.
Hyunjin shrugged, refraining from giving them an actual answer as he nudged you to walk over to them and throw the thin pieces of wood you had collected into the fire, later taking a seat next to each other by it.
"You know what's funny?" Changbin spoke up next to you, with a hint of a smirk already showing on his face. "I'm pretty sure I saw them walking towards the lake, but when Minho and I got there later they were nowhere to be seen".
Once again, all eyes were on you. This time, though, you managed to see some dropped jaws.
"Did you guys get lost in the woods or something?" Han teased, rapidly moving his eyebrows up and down.
"I'm watching you, Hwang" Seungmin glared at him from the other side of the bonfire, earning a laugh from all of you.
Hyunjin raised both hands up, pleading innocence. "I did nothing".
"Did Y/N do something then?" Changbin teased.
You rolled your eyes, pressing a finger to your mouth "Quiet".
"Is that a yes?"
"Oh, my God" you whined, covering your face with both hands in embarrassment.
“Okay, okay. Leave the lovebirds alone” Hyejin came to your rescue — kind of.
“Have you guys had dinner yet?” you tried to change the subject.
“Nice save” Minho saluted you. “But no, we wanted to hang out here for a bit before. It got pretty cold”.
You nodded, silently. As if on cue, a light, cold breeze hit your body, making you hug yourself instinctively before you leaned closer to the fire and reached your hands out in hopes to get warmer.
Your eyes snapped back towards Hyunjin when you felt him leave your side, watching him go to the tent he was sharing with Lix and get something you could not quite tell apart from the distance, given how dark it was over there. When he got close enough to the bonfire again for you to see what he was holding, however, you smiled.
Before the words ‘thank you’ could even leave your mouth, he was placing a blanket over your shoulders and sitting down next to you.
“Anyone else?” Hyunjin asked, holding out a spare blanket he had brought just in case.
“Me!” Hyejin raised her hand from three seats away, reaching for the blanket Hyunjin was now offering her and then throwing it around her body — in the matter of just one second managing to look like a burrito.
“Gotta step up your game, Felix” Han called him out, shaking his head in feigned disappointment.
“Fuck off” he glared at him, only for his girlfriend to laugh next to him and pull him into her embrace.
Felix smiled in adoration, resting his head on Hyejin’s while he made himself cozy under the blanket she had just shared with him.
“I just got called single in like five different languages” Han sulked.
You laughed at the scene playing in front of you. Well, mainly at Han and his antics, for you could only smile and stare in awe at the lovely couple cuddling right there. They were so happy. They had always been happy together, always so unproblematic, and you could only wish to ever be part of a relationship like that.
You didn’t want that with just anyone, though, and the fact that the person you wanted it with was sitting right next to you did not help your case at all.
It was tough to be craving that much intimacy with someone who was right there, yet things weren’t clear enough between the two of you for you to just go for it.
You wanted to be able to do with Hyunijn what Hyejin had just done with Felix. You wanted to just rest your head on his shoulder and pull him into your embrace. You wanted to be close to him in every way possible, feeling his calm breathing next to you as you enjoyed the sight and warmth of the fire.
And maybe you were overthinking way too much, for sharing a blanket while camping was not that deep and it didn’t precisely have to mean anything, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to offer it to him, because, to you, it was that deep and it did mean something.
Silently staring at him as he had by now joined the new conversation you were not paying attention to, you felt your heart melt at the side view of his bright smile.
You didn't know how many minutes had gone by, but at one point you felt him shiver, and then lean towards the fire just like you had done before, as he looked for the warmth of it.
Looking down to the fluffy fabric hugging your body, you felt guilty to have taken his blanket when he clearly needed it too. You knew it was the chance you had been looking for to offer him to share it and that way cuddle him as platonically as you could, but after giving it a second thought you came to terms with the fact that you didn’t have enough courage to do so. Instead, you offered him the whole blanket.
“Huh?” Hyunjin questioned, taken aback when you took it off and handed it to him.
“You’re cold” you stated the obvious, motioning for him to take it.
“So are you” he pointed out.
“Yeah, but it’s your blanket”.
Hyunjin stayed silent for a couple of seconds, eyes going from you to the blanket in your hands and so on. Then, as if a lightbulb had just been lit up above his head, he smiled.
Taking the blanket from your hands, he threw it over your backs, making sure you’d hold onto the other end before he made himself cozier next to you.
“We can share”.
You bit your lip, lowering your head not to show the effect his actions had once more had on you. How could he make it look so simple? Just throw a blanket over your bodies, pull you closer and then say that you could share, like it was nothing?
A part of you was worried he would feel your heartbeat racing, even though your arm was the one leaning against him and not your chest. It was just beating that hard, and you grew even shyer when your eyes locked with Seungmin’s. Somehow, you felt like one look at you and Hyunjin snuggling up if you could call it that— was all it took for him to figure everything out.
The crush you had told him about months ago, only then was confirmed right in front of his eyes not to only be one simple crush. And most definitely not a one sided one, like you had claimed it was back then.
“Something wrong?” Hyunjin asked quietly, leaning in towards your ear for only you to hear.
You shook your head no, smiling softly before turning your head to him. “Everything’s fine”.
Perfect, actually.
Hyunjin nodded, moving closer to you and hesitatingly bringing his hand up to hover your back. “Is it okay if I…”
Catching on with his intentions when he lightly tapped your back, you hummed in affirmation; tensing up for a second over the unknown feel of his hand on your waist, before you relaxed under his gentle, loving touch. You were nervous, of course, but it would've been odd for you not to ultimately feel at ease when his thumb began to draw small circles on the curve of your waist.
Maybe you got too carried away, or maybe you simply stopped worrying too much, but you found yourself resting your head on his shoulder — not even having time to doubt your own actions before his head was resting on yours.
As cliché as it was, you wished that moment would last forever. It felt so natural, like your head belonged on his shoulder and his hand belonged on your waist. Like you belonged together.
Your friends had silently agreed on not teasing you anymore; just carrying on with the conversation as if seeing you together like that was by now a daily occurrence.
Hyunjin pulled you closer, and with his lips faintly brushing the crown of your head, you began to doze off.
His phone buzzing in his pocket managed to stop you from falling asleep completely. However, he, too, was so immersed in the comfort your touch and warmth brought him, that he didn't even feel it moving directly against his body.
"Your phone" you quietly brought it to his attention.
"What?"
"Your phone's buzzing" you clarified, lightly pressing your legs to his so he could take a hint.
"Oh, right" he finally got it, earning a small laugh from you as he reached into his pocket and took his phone out. "It's Minji".
You couldn't help it, but your body tensed up.
"Minji?" Han asked quite eagerly.
"Isn't it like six A.M. over there?" Hyejin's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Hyunjin shrugged. "She's Facetiming, hold on".
Watching him sit up straight and fix his hair right before taking the call, you moved slightly away from him, putting some distance in between the two of you. That small action of yours didn't go unnoticed by Hyunjin, but he decided to say nothing. It must've been nothing after all, right?
"Hey!" He greeted her cheerfully as soon as her face was on the screen.
"Hello~" Minji answered rather cutely. Your stomach twisted. "How's everyone?"
"Everyone's okay, they're all here, actually" Hyunjin let her know.
That simple statement was all it took for your seats to be taken over by all your friends — all ten of you trying your best to fit on the small screen that Hyunjin was struggling to keep as far as possible from his face, so that everyone could have a look.
Staring at your friend through the screen, you could tell she was just waking up. She was at the other side of the world, after all. But even then, when her hair was still messy and her face was completely bare, she managed to look as endearing as ever.
She looked happy. Tired, of course, given what time it was over there, but happy nonetheless. That same welcoming smile you knew so well was still intact, even while she was being attacked with questions from the entire friend group.
You tried your best not to look at Hyunjin all throughout the conversation. You knew it wouldn't do you any good to see him looking at her — not when you already knew the oh-so-special way he did. That one look in his eyes he only had when it came to her.
You also tried your best not to think of how usual these video calls were. They were best friends, for fucks sake, and they were half a world apart from each other on top of that. If it were you and Seungmin, you knew you'd be calling on a daily basis.
But Hyunjin and Minji were different. And the selfish part of you didn't want to think he was Facetiming her every single day when that seemed to be your thing now.
As stupid as you knew it was, you couldn't stop your head from hurting right then; all because of your own intrusive thoughts.
"We miss you!" Han shouted.
"Yeah, you should call the whole group more often" Chan accused her.
"Oh my God, you should show us around the filming set sometime" Felix excitedly requested.
"Have you met any celebrities?" Jeongin asked.
And the fact that everyone was talking so loudly and eagerly to the phone, as if its microphone wasn't working or something, was definitely not helping your abrupt headache.
"One by one, people. Please" she joked. "I miss you all so much and I will get to you in a minute, but I called Jinnie, so…"
"She said priorities," Minho joked with a roll of eyes. "Let's leave before our dignity hits rock bottom, guys".
Chuckling at his salty remark and watching everyone stand up so they could either go back to their seats or straight up go somewhere else after the bonfire bonding had been interrupted, you hesitated for a moment. Ultimately, however, you stood up too — not being able to decipher the look Hyunjin gave you when you were no longer sitting next to him, and your end of the blanket remained unattended.
Without much thought, you went to the place that felt the most familiar and, therefore, the most comfortable — Seungmin. He was back on his previous seat, mindlessly scrolling through his Twitter feed when you took a seat beside him.
He didn't even budge when you placed your head on his shoulder, silently reading whatever Tweet he decided to stop at.
"You should've brought the blanket" he said plainly when a breeze of cold air hit your bodies, eyes not leaving his phone. "It's cold".
You snorted. "It's Hyunie's blanket. You can go get another one to your tent if you're that cold".
"Just go ask your boyfriend for it, he's giving it to you in a heartbeat".
Your jaw dropped at his nonchalant statement, not minding holding back when you pushed him with both palms and almost made him fall off his chair.
"You're a menace" he accused you, holding onto your upper arm for dear life.
"You started it" you defended yourself.
"Just go get a blanket!" He motioned towards his tent.
"It's your tent, you go".
"Fine! But I swear to God I won't be shar—"
"Um…" Hyunjin's low voice brought your attention to him.
He was awkwardly standing in front of you, folded blanket in his hands while his eyes travelled from you to Seungmin, almost as if pondering his next move.
In the end, they focused on Seungmin.
"You think you can, um…" he nervously cleared his throat. "Leave us to it for a bit?"
Your heart skipped a beat, and your eyes fixed on Seungmin, who was already squinting his eyes in your direction.
The things he had to do for you and the sake of your romantic life.
Standing up without another word and with a quick glance to Hyunjin, he went over to Jeongin and Chan, who were busy chugging two of the beer cans you had no idea were there to begin with. Next to them was Hyejin, who was now holding Hyunjin’s phone as you supposed she was the next to talk to Minji one-on-one.
You frowned. You would’ve thought Minji’s conversation with Hyunjin would go on for ten minutes at least. Had it only been two minutes? Three at most?
Hyunjin took a seat next to you, placing the blanket around your body. His hands remained on your shoulders, tenderly massaging them before he rested his head on yours. You pouted, leaning into his body and burying your face on the crook of this neck.
"Why'd you leave?" he asked.
You shrugged, unintentionally tickling his neck and making goosebumps show up on his skin.
"Hm?" he pushed it, gently nudging you.
"Didn't wanna interrupt" you replied quietly.
"Interrupt?"
"Yeah, like… Minji called you, so…"
"She just wanted to tell me about what happened at the studio today and the instructions the director was giving, you know, to give me some tips since I aim to get there at some point".
You smiled weakly, being reminded of how even when it came to their careers they were a better fit than you and him. An actress and a film producer. It was a match made in Heaven.
"It's not like we were talking about anything top secret" he tried to reassure you when you wouldn't reply.
"No, but…" you sighed. "I don't know".
“Tell me”.
“It would’ve just… We were being way too cozy, and she was watching, I didn’t want to have her think that we’re—you know…”
Hyunjin frowned, looking down to his fidgeting hands on his lap. “But we are, though… Aren’t we?”
You looked up at him in surprise, and he could feel his heart flutter at the sight of your shining, incredulous eyes.
“We are?” you asked in a whisper.
“Do you…” he bit his lip, silently looking for the right words. “Do you really think I’m in love with her?”
You shrugged, sitting up and leaning away from him.
“Y/N…”
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you, it’s always been so obvious”.
“It was nothing, though”.
You snorted at that, shaking your head in disbelief while you focused on one of the trees in front.
“I mean it,” he reassured you, cupping your chin and guiding your face in his direction, giving you no choice but to look at him and feel your breath get caught in your throat over how little distance separated your face from his. “Whatever silly crush I had on her is gone by now”.
“You don’t have to explain yourself to me”.
“But I do,” he disagreed. “I do need to explain myself if it’s gonna jeopardize my relationship with you”.
“R-Relationship?” you whispered again, this time almost inaudibly.
"I mean, not like—I know we don't," he panicked, and you couldn't help but smile ever so faintly at the way his eyes opened wider than usual and his cheeks became a bright pink. "I'm just—in the future maybe, like…"
"Like…" you trailed off, giving him the little push he needed to go on.
Hyunjin took a deep breath. His hands were no longer cupping your face, but nervously shoved into his pockets instead. Suddenly, he had lost all the sudden confidence he previously had when it came to making it clear to you that he no longer wanted anything to do with Minji.
But he wanted things to be clear between the two of you. He wanted you to know that whatever it was he once felt for her, was now gone.
He wanted you to know he wanted you.
So, earning back every ounce of confidence he once had, he took his hands out of his pockets and held yours in them — his thumbs ever so tenderly caressing your soft skin, staring at them with the softest of smiles before his eyes went back up to your already elated ones.
“I like you, Y/N” he confessed. “I really, really like you".
"You do?" you murmured, not believing your ears.
"Mhm…" he nodded, feeling shyness hit him like a truck all over again yet refusing to let it take control over him. "I want to give us a try, I want to be with you, and… I just, I don’t want you to believe I'm stuck on Minji when I'm not".
You looked down to your lap and simply nodded, silently — visibly enough for him to know you heard him, yet not confidently enough for him to think you trusted him.
Everything he had just said was exactly what you wanted to hear. He wanted to be with you. Not her, you. He liked you, and wanted to give your relationship a try. Then why was your gut not allowing you to feel as happy as you should be?
"Can you please say something?" he whispered, nervously biting on his bottom lip.
"I, I don't…"
"You don't like me back?" he assumed; defeat clear in his eyes.
"No, I do!" you clarified embarrassingly fast, not even getting to feel ashamed about it after seeing the way his whole face lit up. "I do. I do like you".
He laughed under his breath, blissfully — thumbs still drawing circles in the palms of your hands, only this time it felt playful.
"What's stopping us then?" Hyunjin asked.
You shrugged, letting out a sigh as you looked up to the sky. "It's not even been two months since she left…"
He sighed heavily, cupping your face with one of his hands and making you look at him once more. "I know it seems like too little time, but I fell so hard so fast for you, Y/N. I can't even understand it either, but I did".
"What about when she comes back…"
"Does it matter?" He tilted his head in confusion. "I'll be with you, nothing's gonna change".
"She's coming back in five months," you pointed out, a small smirk curving up your lips. "You really think we'll last that long?"
Hyunjin giggled, resting his forehead on yours and smoothly pulling you closer to him by firmly placing a hand on your back.
"I think we'll last longer than that, actually".
That did it for you. Those confident words coming out of his mouth, his lips only inches from yours and his strong hand on your back, were all it took for you to shut down every rational part of your mind and to let your heart take over instead.
You wanted to be with him, and he wanted to be with you. So what if he used to have feelings for your mutual friend; it didn’t have to be so complicated.
And maybe, in the long run, that had been your biggest mistake. Pushing all your worries aside and just diving into your feelings for him. Rushing into things. Letting go of your inhibitions that night and never looking back from a decision you made in the heat of the moment.
Your biggest mistake was forgetting about the reason you were sitting all the way across from your previous seats around the bonfire to begin with, and why Hyunjin had come up to you in order to comfort you and reassure you of the way he felt for you.
The reason of all your insecurities was currently at the other side of the world, and Hyunjin was all the way over here with you. It was just that easy to forget about your concerns when the cause of them was nowhere near. Especially when the person your heart was crazy about was holding you so close.
Chuckling at those words that had made you risk it all, you placed your hands on his chest and softly nuzzled his nose. "You think so?"
"What, you wanna bet?" He challenged with a raised eyebrow.
You shook your head no immediately, as a laugh escaped your throat. And with each shake of your head, you moved closer to him — until there was no more space between your mouths, and your puckered lips were softly pressing on his receptive ones.
They felt just like everything you had ever dreamed of, but better. They tasted sweet, just like him; and they somehow felt even softer and plumper than they looked.
With your heart speeding up in such a way you had not felt in so long, you pulled away, feeling your cheeks burn up while your face remained buried in his neck in a poor attempt to hide from what you had just done.
"Oh, no. No," he warned you, tilting his head towards your hidden face and placing his hand on your neck — gently, yet strong enough to manage to make you look up at him. "You don't get to kiss me and then pull away before I get a proper taste of you".
His lips were trapping your bottom one before you could even register his words. He pulled you in closer, hand travelling from the back of your neck to the side of it, so that he could hold you still while his thumb was faintly pressing on your throat.
He deepened the kiss in no time, tilting his head to the side right as his tongue traced your bottom lip for you to open up. Once you did, he was greatly met by yours in the middle — tenderly massaging each other for a brief moment, before you focused back on sucking and teasing your needy lips.
"Did this answer your question?" he whispered against your mouth.
Too far gone in the sensation of his addictive lips on yours and the way his hot breath hit your mouth as it mixed with your own, you struggled to find your voice. "W-What even was the question?"
Hyunjin giggled, louder this time. Both hands cupped your cheeks, and his thumbs tickled your bottom lip as they faintly traced it. "You're so cute".
You looked down, not being able to hold his stare after hearing such a statement come out of his swollen, pink lips. Hyunjin laughed under his breath at the sight of it, planting a soft kiss on your forehead before he pulled you into his arms and fixed the blanket that was sliding down your shoulders.
"Are you two lovebirds done exchanging saliva?" Minho asked from the table a few meters away, mindlessly opening a red cooler.
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, and you shyly buried your face in the crook of his neck like it was oh-so-natural by now.
"Is that a yes?"
"What do you need?" you reluctantly gave in.
"You're literally the only person apart from me who knows how to properly fillet a fish, so…"
You sighed, sitting up and giving Hyunjin a lingering, apologetic look before you stood up.
"I can help, too" he stood up immediately after you, leaving the blanket by your chairs and following behind you.
"I actually need your help chopping the veggies" Hyejin caught him by his t-shirt before he could even reach your side.
"But I can help Y/N cut th—"
"You don't even know how to cut a fish" Hye mocked him.
"No, but—"
"Just give it up, lover boy" Seungmin shut every hope of his down, placing a firm hand on his shoulder and dragging him with them to the other end of the table. "Come join those of us on veggies duty, Y/N's not going anywhere".
Throwing one last glance your way and watching you fold up your sleeves right before you got to helping Minho, Hyunjin smiled. He wished you weren't interrupted because of veggies and fish duty, and therefore you could still be sitting down by the bonfire, all alone, making out like he then realised he was desperate to.
But Seungmin was right. You were not going anywhere. For as long as he stayed by your side, and for as long as he made you feel safe enough in your relationship, you would stay.
For as long as you knew he was yours and you were his, you were not going anywhere. And he planned to keep it that way, so there was truly nothing for him to worry about, right?

AETHERRRRR. MY BELOVED. HIIII 'TIS I, ENIES LOBBY ANON!!!! :DDDDDDD (also I love hanahaki au fic, I know I said that already, but I just wanted to let you know again)
Came with another request!!! And surprisingly, it's not Robin, even though I love her sm. Feel free to take your time with this one, really, no need to rush! I know you said in your latest post that you haven't gotten the chance to write zoro a lot, so I'll request one for you :))). Also, I don't feel like emotionally wrecking myself, so no angst again, sadly.
Zoro x Reader, where Reader has a crush on Zoro and Reader does a bunch of secret little things for Zoro when she thinks he doesn't notice (like putting a blanket on him when he falls asleep, propping his head with a pillow, slipping the occasional sake bottle next to him, placing a glass of water besides his stuff while he exercises, etc). And I think that Zoro would find out about it but would want to see it for himself, so one day he catches Reader trying to do a secret act of service and it kinda leads into Reader confessing her feelings to Zoro? Anyways, I kinda love Zoro, if you couldn't tell. (but Robin will always be my wife. Unless you're willing to share lol.)
Anyways that was the request, take it or not, this is more for you than me and I just had an idea pop in my head. Thank you in advance!! Again, reminders that I love you and your work and blog are awesome!! :))))))
-Enies Lobby anon :DDD

From the moment you stepped on board the Sunny as the newest crew member, the sight of the green haired swordsman taking a small nap on deck or working out was enough to make your heart beat and palms getting sweaty.
Roronoa Zoro, the right hand man of the future King of the Pirates, the man who could wield three swords at the same time, and the man who always fell asleep on deck. You were swooned by his camaraderie and bravery in a fight, attracted to those muscles on his arms and back, and even on his legs because he never skipped leg day.
It was safe to say you were completely in love with him, and would do anything to keep him safe and sound.
You knew it was a one in a billion chance that Zoro would even like someone like you, but you didn’t want to simply stay on the side and watch Zoro shift uncomfortably on the wooden planks or shiver from the cold of the night.
Whenever you caught Zoro asleep leaning against the mast, you would put a weighted blanket on his body and a pillow behind his head.
When Zoro was going into the galley for lunch or dinner, you’d occasionally slip a bottle of sake into his hands like magic, to the point you made Zoro believe if he had the power to summon sake bottles.
Whenever Zoro announced he was going to lock himself in the gym until he was done working out, you’d sneak into his sanctuary and place two glasses of water on the floor, extra towels, some fruits and snacks, and a protein drink.
You did all of that as quiet and stealthily as you could, doing it whenever the rest of the Straw Hats weren’t looking. Zoro never noticed your actions; he was asleep after all. Or, that’s what you thought.
One day, as you were about to put the blanket on Zoro, you felt a gaze upon you; someone was looking at you doing this. You looked up at Zoro, and let out a yelp, the stone cold gaze of the swordsman boring into your eyes.
“So you’re the one doing this.” Zoro stated matter-of-factly with a monotone voice.
You recomposed yourself, hiding the pillow behind your back, but it was probably useless since the swordsman probably knew.
“I’m going to guess I’m not really magic, then? I can’t summon sake whenever I want?”
You stayed silent, looking at your shoes.
“Why are you doing all of this?”
You took a deep breath, as the bottle of emotions you had cramped inside your heart began to flood out. You ranted to Zoro about your feelings about him, that you were scared that he wouldn’t ever like you back and that you were out of his league. So you had resorted to doing tiny acts of service to channel and express your feelings. You kept talking, not once stopping for breath.
Once you finally stopped, you looked at Zoro, waiting for a reply.
“Well, you could’ve just said so next time.” Zoro scoffed, beckoning you to sit down next to him.
You did so, as Zoro pulled your body closer to him, pushing your head against his shoulder. He didn’t say anything after that, and you didn’t dare move. So you stayed there, head leaning on his shoulder as the two of you fell asleep.

hello!
this is a little bit random, but do the characters have any specific hairstyles you'd been envisioning for them? or any specific vibes/style when it comes to clothes?
i really like to doodle and this fic is my current brain-focus, so i was curious!
hello suni here! thea answered with some hair references for the entire party here but because i am extra as all hell, here are moodboards for mike and will’s styles (with more for the rest of the party to follow)!
Tumblr media
acswy will is a big fan of sweaters and stripes (!!) and he looooves a good colorblock moment! i see him in a lot of earth tones (it’s easier for him to match and layer that way. he’s just like me fr) with the exception of a few choice colors (bright yellow, red, etc). to Us he’s also a shoes guy but in a very lowkey and Normal manner which is why the bowie reeboks have been in my pinterest board for camp au will for months now bc i think he sees them somewhere and then saves up for months to buy them and then immediately refuses to wear them anywhere out of fear of getting them dirty lol (also peep the byler shoes 👁️👁️) he’ll prioritize comfort over fashion a lot of the time — ergo the infamous hanes six pack of t-shirts from chapter 1 — but when it’s not one million degrees out and when he is not about to get covered in dirt, this is the look he’s going for!
Tumblr media
to us acswy mike is also a big proponent of comfort and and practicality but he’s also a grade A dork LOL he has a thing about jackets the way will has a thing about shoes so thrift finds like his beloved leather and denim jackets are a staple for most of the year! (not summer though. obviously.) i think he would love a good crewneck + shorts moment in the spring especially (the “shorty short shorts” are literally the length of the shorts in the middle photo so idk what will was getting so worked up about 🙄) and he owns one million really stupid shirts that he wears all the time that will definitely does not find endearing. also to us mike loves collecting vintage pins so below the cut are some we think he would have been so so so excited to find:

(the whale one was admittedly a little self indulgent bc i want that pin but who cares i think he’d like it)

Anything you would like to share for Orc Hob would be fabulous!
I'd love to! I have been plotting away at it recently, putting some ideas in order.
For everyone new, the orc Hob AU is called Good Intentions and has spawned last October thanks to several prompts, "sigil" and "orc". I wrote a drabble and it was really good and so I proceeded to flesh it out into a whole story. It features orc Hob who has escaped Burgess, and wizard Dream who is also on the run from Burgess, despite being his former court wizard, for reasons he keeps to himself. Dream asks for Hob's help in retrieving his ruby and freeing his friend Jessamy. Hob agrees (for revenge reasons) and so they go on a quest together. It features enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, a Witcher-like road trip, sexual tension, beloved tropes and magic. 😁 Everyone who frequents my thread in the Mr Sadman server has probably already read this but I'll just share a bit. (It gets so confusing after a while, I can't remember what I shared here or only there 😅)
Over the course of the day Hob has shed clothes as the temperatures rose. It’s the high end of summer and Hob’s furs and leathers must be uncomfortable, Dream thinks. He valiantly tries not to stare as more and more of the olive green skin of his companion is revealed and keeps his eyes steadfastly on the road, but the urge to look is almost overwhelming. When they make camp it is Dream’s turn to keep first watch. The orc falls asleep quickly and Dream takes the time to finally look at him more closely. Hob’s green skin glows with an orange sheen in the firelight, illuminating a myriad of small scars on the orc’s arms and half-naked torso. A tattoo in blue-black ink adorns Hob’s left forearm, a tribal symbol of some sort. While intricate in its design, Dream’s gaze is drawn away from it by reddish bands winding around Hob’s wrists. He leans closer to get a better look.  They’re not tattoos. These are wounds left by rope or shackles, Dream guesses. They look painful, new enough to look raw in the middle and old enough that it’s clear they’ll never vanish completely. Dream looks over what he can see of Hob’s skin more thoroughly and finds more rope burns around his upper arms, his thighs, ankles and even around his neck, all of them ragged enough that they’ll clearly scar. “What did they do to you?” Dream murmurs to himself, barely holding himself back from reaching out and touching the orc’s blistered skin.

Saiyan AU
*Set during the Summer Camp Attack*
Ochako: Come on Tsu! We’ve got to get back to the restbif our classmates!
Tsuyu: You’re right, kero! Just keep running and— WATCH OUT!!!
Ochako: AAAHH!!
Himiko: Well lookie here!! What are two lovely gals like yourselves doing out on a late night like this?
Ochako: Stopping villains like yourself from terrorizing us further!
Tsuyu: Be careful, kero. We don’t know what her quirk is!
Himiko:*focuses attention on Tsuyu* Well by golly!! Looks like I’m in the prescense of royalty! You are Asui Tsuyu, heiress of the late Demon King Piccolo?
Tsuyu: I am his daughter. But my father and his actions don’t define me! I am my own person.
Himiko: Such conviction! But I just needed to confirm you are who I thought you were because you’re on the list!
Ochako: What list?
Himiko: The list of people we need to kidnap silly! But don’t worry, I can play with you too.
Ochako: I won’t let you kidnap Tsu!
Himiko: Who said I was going to kidnap her? *jumps away from them before placing her hands near her mouth in a bullhorn-like manner*
Himiko: CYMBAL!!! TAMBOURINE!!! I GOTTA LITTLE SUPRISE FOR YOU!!!
*Two dark shapes appear in the night sky, one slim and humanoid, the other rotund and draconic, but both possessing emerald skin and leathery wings. As they touch down, Tsuyu begins shaking in fear.*
Tsuyu: No. It’s impossible!
Ochako: What’s impossible Tsu?
Tambourine: That her dearly beloved brothers are here, ready and waiting to bring her back home!
Cymbal: Quit the yapping Tambourine! Piano said to get her and bring her back to base so we could start father’s conquest again.
Tambourine: Quite right brother. Sister, prepare yourself! As father’s heir, we expect a challenging fight!
TL;DR: Since it was never stated what happened to the Dark Vassals, I propose that they would’ve remained with Garaki out of an alliance of convenience. After all, he seeks to restore AFO and they know since Kami hasn’t dropped dead that their father left an heir somewhere. Besides, Garaki can’t Nomuify them, their too strong. So that’s how affairs went until the Sports Festival. Because once Kami revealed Tsuyu’s existance to the world, the Demon Clan vowed not to rest until they were reunited with their lost sister and future Demon Queen.
I love this. It makes sense; King Piccolo does his own dirty work so once he's ready he wouldn't need to send them out-- especially when killing off everyone who can oppose him ahead of time isn't feasible in the world of MHA.
Asui would like a fucking break

sun-kissed
pairing~ jung wooyoung x male! reader
genre~ (au) (f) (s)
word count~ 9.5k (it’s that god damn smut scene i tell ya)
synopsis~ It’s the summer of ‘72 and y/n- an ex boy scout, arrives home after his college life is ruined by something as mundane as a crush on his best friend. in an attempt to run away from his concerns surrounding his sexuality, y/n returns to pinefield. there he meets jung wooyoung, a delinquent who really shouldn’t be there. the pair, both from different worlds come to the realisation that maybe what they were feeling wasn’t intense hate but something special...
or the one where an ice cold camp counsellor meets a boy who he’s convinced holds the sun in his eyes
featuring~  two closeted gay kids who are stupid and in love, reader is san’s cousin but it doesn’t really add to the plot that much, insinuated homophobia (nothing is actually directly mentioned), switch reader & switch wooyoung, frotting, a sickening amount of fluff, kissing and pda, wooyoung’s smart mouth and dolphin laugh, the longest and most respectful smut scene ever, praise & body worship, cum play, unprotected sex (don’t do this please i just had to keep this era appropriate).
playlist~🌼 (excuse the amazing lack 70′s music on this playlist)
a/n~ at this stage i will probably always be thanking you @kpop-ship-silver for actually encouraging me to get some thoughts out there, especially this fic. and @flwrboi i know we just started dm’ing but let me be bold and say you’ve 100% become my muse of sort. even though i started this fic months you and your presence inspired me to make this the cutest thing in the universe. lets just say this is a token of “please be my friend?” “or maybe at least consider being moots for more than a couple of weeks?”
 also the song y/n and wooyoung listen to in the lake scene is Go All The Way by Raspberries
You can’t help but feel somewhat guilty, your family had been waiting for months to see you, yet you currently sat in the shadiest area of your yard tracing shapes on your bare knee. The sizzling meat and the children that ran wild, though loud, was reduced to background noise in your mind. Family barbecues were far and few between yet the atmosphere remained the same, regardless of the change within your heart.
A few days prior you stood in a phone booth on your campus weaving a narrative of your seemingly amazing college experience, even if you didn’t address it the distance in your voice was booming, so your dad took immediate action dusting off the same apron he wore years ago in an attempt to at least gift you with a faint smile when you arrived home. He had yet to see that smile but still had a few tricks up his sleeve, even if he was practically forced to man the food. After the not-so-subtle “You know you can tell me anything right champ?” you didn’t budge, and that in itself felt wrong. Throughout your life you had always been the sweet little boy who would always peck their mum on the cheek before running off to explore their backyard, which eventually led to you becoming the beloved poster child for the town’s local scout troop.
Honesty, integrity and kinship practically ran in your blood even during your awkward teenage phases. And as soon as you outgrew your troop you snatched up the opportunity to volunteer as a counsellor every summer, even now the familiarity of it pulled you back in, and right now you were as desperate as ever to forget about the events that had taken place.
The first couple of months of college had lulled you into a false sense of security, gifting you with a decent roommate, friends, you even managed to find a girlfriend. If you could go back and give your past self a helpful warning you would have looked him in his e/c eyes and said “Sometimes the best things are temporary”. It began as a faint jolt of electricity that ran wild when you brushed against Jaehyun’s arm. Then eventually you found yourself drifting in and out as you scanned his handsome features, and when someone noticed you responded like clockwork “When did admiring your best friend become a crime?” That question was later answered the night you refused to go further with your sweet bookish girlfriend Anne and instead opted for sneaking a hand into your boxers, letting soft whimpers of Jaehyun’s name slip loose and drift into the cold night air.
Your major game plan was to keep the double life you were leading under wraps, but eventually you made a lapse in judgement. The night was painfully ordinary, Jaehyun laughed at his joke that nearly fell into the realm of being a dad joke. You had a good sense of humour but the joke was a complete miss, but the sparkle in his eyes, that made everything worth it.  From that point on your body was acting on its own, after taking one sneaky glance at his lips you took your chance. In some fantasy world Jaehyun would have stolen your breath in one swift kiss, but it never came. Dread coated your entire being as your eyes, which had since then clasped themselves shut, finally opened.
There was no hint of emotion on his face, it was as if he had already blocked out what had happened. Your friend stood, reaching for his bag. Slinging it around his shoulder he tilted sideways trying to avoid making eye contact.
“I was just joking.”
“I think I should go.”
Those five familiar words carried a venomous sting to them that was only heightened by him turning on his heels. Speaking proved to be a struggle, everything you wanted to say never made it past the tip of your tongue. By the time you managed to croak out a string of words he was already out the door.
“Jaehyun…I’m sorry.”
From that point onwards Jaehyun made a habit of taking elaborate detours in hopes of avoiding you. Maybe he was doing you a favour since there was no way you could work your way up to looking him in the eyes let alone start a conversation. However, your perspective clearly changed when a heartbroken Anne sat across from you, you knew where this was going even before you registered the words she spoke.
It didn’t take long for it to spread like wildfire, everyone knew about the little ex-boy scout who wasn’t as innocent as he seemed. So instead of unloading your baggage to your father you ultimately decided to ditch and disappear into the semi-wilderness and confront your feelings later, what could possibly go wrong?
A thud to the back of your head withdrew you from your thoughts, snapping you back into reality. Before you even had time to swivel around your younger cousin Ethan was frantic, “Sorry!” Looking down to your side you notice a lone soccer ball, the adults around you immediately set into action scolding him. “You know y/n’s not well.” That was what your mum used to smooth over the situation, she knew even less than your dad but she was still out here defending you while holding a stack of paper plates.
“Mum I’m fine.” Feigning innocence, you stood flashing a gentle smile before you dashed towards Ethan. The young boy playfully squealed as you trailed him around your back yard, finally cornering him you picked him up carrying him to the blow-up swimming pool. He was already in his swimsuit so when you plopped him into the pool the boy giggled like crazy, splashing you with water.
The familiarity of it all was a soothing balm over all the things that had happened in the weeks prior, and returning to Pinefield was a much-needed cure for your broken heart.
Wooyoung shuffled in his seat irked by the whole scenario, he didn’t deserve to be in this hellscape disguised as a cubicle. He wasn’t going to deny that he resorted to minor threats but that’s all it was, he wasn’t going to beat the dude up. But no matter how many times Wooyoung had stressed this to his community service officer he was dismissed with a passive aggressive smile.
The combination of the man’s feigned innocence, the pasty walls and the noisy water cooler was starting to break Wooyoung. His head fell into his hands muffling a frustrated sigh, “Now… the last time I checked a verbal threat doesn’t equal community service.” “Well, it does in our books, now Wooyoung you’re eating into my lunch break” “Good” “Son, just choose something you have no choice in the matter.”
Snatching the clipboard out of the man’s hand Wooyoung traced his tongue along one of his fingers and took to flipping through the pages, it didn’t take him long to realise that each listing was just as bad as the last. However, one caught his eye. “Camp Pinefield? You’re kidding me, a scout camp? You’re willing to let a “delinquent” volunteer around children, that’s good to know.” Wooyoung expected to at least get a chuckle from the man in front of him but much to his disappointment he got another blank stare.
Frankly all of these options were shit, but it was still an easy choice to make. There was no way he was going to willingly clean up after the people who got him in this situation to begin with, he also didn’t ever feel comfortable working in a local cemetery.
“Camp Pinefield it is.” “Well, if that’s the case I will contact the head of the scout troop and organise the paperwork. The camp starts in three weeks so I expect to see you back here next week to register. But until then enjoy your freedom.”  Wooyoung was already walking away when he recognised the cocky comment. “It’s a scout camp not a prison.” “Your right, twelve weeks isn’t that bad right?”  Luckily the officer couldn’t see how Wooyoung’s face paled immediately. Used to Wooyoung’s antics the man didn’t even react when he dashed back into the cubicle once again ripping the clipboard out of his hands once again, “Don’t you mean one to two wee-“Wooyoung’s voice faltered after rereading the rough penmanship, ‘Oh shit’ .
“Okay look, Tom I’m sorry for wasting your time, you deserved that lunch. Almost as much as I deserve to not do twelve weeks of community service at a camp.” The boy, who just so happened to be gifted in the art of persuasion, kneeled down so his head sat on the desk. There was a side to Wooyoung that barely saw the light of day and it only appeared in moments of complete desperation, he scrunched his face into a bright smile that saw his eyes disappear behind his cheeks. “I change my mind.” Without realising it Wooyoung had given the guy all he needed to make a smartass comment that sliced deep into Wooyoung’s ego.
“But with a face like that, the children are going to love you, I can’t disappoint them, right?”
“Oh, come on! It’s not even final, I can change my mind.” “I’m sorry my hands are tied” “No they aren’t!” “I don’t care how loud you get; I am not budging. Have a nice day.”
In that moment Wooyoung’s suspicions had been confirmed, he had indeed spent the last hour and a half in literal hell.
“Well fuck you too!”
He was fuming when he rounded the corner only to be met with Yeosang stifling his laugh, even after he had spotted Wooyoung he made absolutely no attempt at hiding his amusement. It was Yeosang’s idea to sync up their community service meetings, a cute little privilege that he reserved for his best friend. Much to his delight he managed to be placed into the cubicle right next to Wooyoung, meaning he had a front row ticket to the chaos that Wooyoung was raining down upon the poor officer.
So Yeosang didn’t even bother to ask about what had truly taken place, and even though silence had plagued them the entire walk home Yeosang failed to hear what the other had murmured through gritted teeth.
“Twelve weeks, what a dream.”
Tumblr media
You sat adjacent to scoutmaster Hawke, entertaining the man’s conversation as you prodded a stick into the flames watching the logs crumble. You didn’t know whether you were just gifted with a huge ego or whether you were just so used to being a model citizen, but seeing the logs reduced to ash made you feel like a god. You had arrived at the camp grounds just as the sun was rising, an act which was 100% unnecessary but it wasn’t hurting anybody. Hawke knew what to expect from you considering he had known your family for thirteen years, if you had wanted to show up at the crack of dawn, so be it.
Once upon a time you had been subject to Hawke’s strict nature, but as soon as your mother had been dubbed the longest serving chef Pinefield had to date you were given a pass to do as you pleased. It wasn’t actually as irresponsible as it had sounded, they all knew you had a working head on your shoulders.
It was nearly eleven and the egg yolk sun washed over the campgrounds. Saturating it in a friendly type of warmth. Since you had arrived Hawke kept you close by after giving you a special task, to welcome one of the new camp counsellors. This was by no means out of the ordinary, with your innocence, charm and enthusiasm you could win over just about anybody so why not put you out into the front line to ease the worries of the newbies?
What Hawke failed to mention was that he had indeed met the new camp counsellor, and if that day was any indication of the type of person Jung Wooyoung was all hands-on deck were needed to reform him.  So, he concocted a list of plans spanning from A-Z, and plan A was more or less chaining Wooyoung to their best volunteer. It was a complete shot in the dark but it was easily the better of the plans.
The older man was actually relieved that Wooyoung hadn’t shown up yet, it gave him the opportunity to calm your nerves before he could spring everything onto you.
“Y/n you know I’m not one for sentimentalities but it’s good to see you again, I wasn’t sure if you’d be back, seeing as you weren’t here last year.”
You playfully scoffed, bickering with the man as if he was a beloved uncle.
“Hey! You know you can’t get rid of me yet Hawke, you’ll be long gone before I leave you all behind. But seriously I really miss being here.”
“Just know that you don’t have to volunteer to come back and visit.” “Yeah, I know.” Truth be told you were never accustomed to the idea of not giving back to the people that basically witnessed you grow up, so you stayed. All the kind words he had showered you with were merely a way to put your heart at ease before he threw you into the tiger’s den, and you hadn’t the slightest clue.
“Not to cut you off there, but are you really sure he’s showing up?” “Just give him some time, he’ll show up alright.” There was something slightly ominous about Hawke’s answer but you let it slide. The tweeting birds filled the silence enough for you to relax once again, however, just as you dropped the stick to your side a rusted cherry pickup truck rounded the corner.  From where you were both standing it was hard to clearly make out the owner of the car, but that didn’t really matter as the person for Hawke was waiting for exited the pickup truck.
It was proving incredibly difficult to mask the shock on your face, he wasn’t meant to be here. Maybe you were a serial gatekeeper but your anxiety was beating you into submission. Even if the phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover” was repeated on loop throughout your childhood, you adopted an immediate distaste for the boy. His raven hair was slicked back, held in place by a black and white bandana. The rest of his outfit hung loosely on his body, a mix between the hippies your mother whispered about and the delinquents your father urged you to distance yourself from.
Your guest took his time, speaking to the driver of the vehicle before flashing him an emotionless smile, he hadn’t even been here for a whole minute yet he already seemed to be suffering.
Sending a salute to his friend he approached, coming to a stop right in front of you. He had yet to utter a single word but his piercing gaze was preventing you from blurting out the usual camp counsellor spiel.
“Good to see you son.” Hawke’s words didn’t seem to faze the young man, that or he was a mute, somehow you had a hard time believing that. Hawke’s sharp exhale was a warning sign in itself, the ex-army veteran had a very…unique sense of respect, his morals were so deeply ingrained in him and it was terrifying. Even if his heart was relatively big, his anger was no joke and nothing angered him more than stubborn silence.
You inadvertently flinched when his large hand came to rest on the stranger’s shoulder, gripping it in faux jolliness. It wasn’t a friendly gesture at all, it was a clear show of dominance. But Hawke was met with a challenging tilt of the head. As if he could sense his brash nature Hawke retracted his hand.
“Y/n I’d like you to meet Wooyoung, he has been kind enough to take on the role as Clarke’s replacement. I have asked Y/n to be your mentor of sorts or as we say, your buddy. Even if he does hold more authority over you, treat him as you would a good friend.”
“Sounds great.” Oh great, he was a complete asshole, well he definitely looked the part, but you had held out hope that he would at least save the sarcasm for later.
“Now Y/n why don’t you show Wooyoung around.” You could tell by the crease forming between his brows that he already needed to recover from Wooyoung’s attitude.  “Sure, will do.” Turning to Wooyoung you flashed him the best poster-boy smile you had, maintaining it until Hawke was out of sight, there was no way you’d let him see you so nervous and fidgety. “I’m Y/n, in case you missed it.” “Didn’t miss it.” “Cool! So how about we drop by the cabin to ditch your belongings so we can get this tour rolling.”  You were preparing yourself for another sour response, not for him to push past you and walk off to God knows where. “I’d suggest dropping the quirky scout thing, it’s not very convincing.” Your jaw dropped in sheer disbelief “You’re going the wrong way.”
One would have thought that you had tortured Wooyoung, when in reality you had just given him a tour and his scout uniform. “I think it suits you.” Wooyoung sighed “Please don’t say that.” It had been what, an hour? Yet you could already feel a pin prick of a migraine forming. Not wanting to give him fuel for another sassy comeback you attempted to change the subject. “So Wooyoung, what brings you to Pinefield?”  For the first time since you met, he actually thought over his answer before exhaling a forceful sigh. “Look I promise it isn’t as bad as it seems, but I’m here for community service.”  Wooyoung didn’t want to admit it to himself, considering you had been so persistently bubbly and invasive, but the way you tilted your head in confusion, was honestly one of the cutest things he had ever seen.
“Wait, I didn’t know that was a thing, don’t you need to be back in town picking up garbage?” “Okay, pretty boy, you obviously missed the point THIS is my community service.” A flaming blush coated your cheeks, it wasn’t meant as a compliment but it still had an effect on you. “Right, I’m sorry I just didn’t know you could do that, honestly that sounds like a pretty good deal. I have a cousin San, he just started his community service a couple of days ago, he nearly took the Pinefield gig to spend time with me but he absolutely sucks at leading children. So, he’s cleaning empty houses.”
One would have thought you just said the most outrageous thing based on the pure shock on his face. “Your cousin San?” Wooyoung had no idea how many people called San lived in this area, you couldn’t be talking about his best friend. “Technically he’s my fourth cousin but I didn’t think that mattered.” “This might be a stab in the dark but are you possibly talking about Choi San?” He watched as your eyes lit up ‘oh fuck’ “Yeah do you know him?”  There was no way, well actually that could possibly explain why you were so attractive. But besides that, you were nothing alike. “He’s a close friend, he actually drove me here.” “What?! Why didn’t he come and say hi? First, he misses our family barbecue and now this.” “I’m more surprised you didn’t recognize your own cousin.” “I have bad eyesight sometimes! And I haven’t seen his new truck.” And there it was, a pout that was nearly identical to that of his best friend.
For the first time since he arrived Wooyoung chuckled “The difference is amazing, I can’t believe such an uptight, do-gooder is related to San.”  You responded with a shrug “Well I am.” Wooyoung crouches down so he’s eye level with you “Hey lighten up, I think we’ll get along fine.” “I doubt it.” “Oh, come on, now who’s the depressing one, look it’s not like I’ll torment you, I wasn’t going to… but now I know you’re San’s cousin I can 100% say I’ll behave. Scout’s honour.” Wooyoung gave a small salute and a bright smile, you could see why the two got along, there was something oddly sweet about the guy, but he was still a major pain in the ass who had been pushing every single one of your buttons since he arrived.  So, you’d have to pass on actually being his friend.
All you could do was flash him a false smile and glance at your watch hoping you had somewhere to be, your call was answered in seconds. A knock on the door brought Wooyoung to his feet in time for another counsellor to enter the change room. “Y/n there you are” He didn’t seem to notice Wooyoung until he turned to his side. “Good you’re here too. The scouts are here.”  It was in that moment that you realised your watch was definitely showing the wrong time. “Oh, flip. Okay we’ll be out there soon.” You could feel Wooyoung smirking as the counsellor left the room “Oh flip? San 1, Y/n 0.” “What does that even mean?” “I’m keeping count. Whenever you say anything cheesy or lame San gets a point, I dunno how you get points but I’m sure you’ll figure something out.”

Wooyoung did in fact keep his promise, he definitely didn’t set out to make your summer difficult. But that didn’t mean that he wasn’t annoying, oh god was he annoying. Three weeks into his time at Pinefield he had ditched his cold bad boy persona and became the golden child of the camp, the children adored him, the female counsellors had a crush on him and the adults showered him with praise.  Even so, Wooyoung had a soft spot for you, even if it wasn’t mutual. You had made it completely obvious that he was a burden to you but he honestly didn’t care. He still had fun testing your patience.
Truth be told, if you weren’t studying a degree in social studies, you probably would have been an actor, solely due to the fact that you were able to convince others and yourself that you despised Wooyoung when in reality you had become one of those who were completely enamoured by his everything. But this felt too familiar and if Jaehyun had taught you anything it was that you were doomed if you let your heart get the best of you.
“Look, I’m not saying you’re wrong, but why don’t you like him? He’s so nice.” Your friend Christina interrogated you over breakfast, you let out another sigh aware of the possibility that you were grasping at any reason to hate Wooyoung. “You know what if you spent every single day paired with him, you’d be losing it too.”
His sarcasm had rubbed off on you, whenever questioned about him you always had a defensive answer. Because at the heart of it, there was a reason why you disliked him and it was growing bigger and more complicated every week, day, hour and minute that you spent with him.
Your prayers had been answered, then dashed in a matter of time. Wooyoung didn’t show for breakfast gifting you with much needed silence, but the world also condemned you to a good couple of hours in the presence of a shirtless Wooyoung. The lake on the edge of the camp wasn’t the biggest lake in the world, but it was still in need of a lifeguard. The lake was connected to a string of other lakes that ultimately connected to the sea, a perfect get away for Wooyoung who sat on a cherry-red lifeguard chair. Instead of actually watching out for the kids he let them run free, closing his eyes to inhale the salty sea breeze. Feeling eyes on him he pauses his Walkman “You good?” It was a struggle to keep your cheeks from turning red. Wooyoung had to be aware of his visuals, his cockiness was most definitely a result of over-confidence.
“I’m fine, just watching you shirk your responsibilities, if you aren’t going to be the lookout let me do it.” “It’s all good up here don’t worry your pretty little face about it.” Huffing out a sigh you stretched back allowing your feet to dangle off the end of the jetty. Even from your spot the sea air managed to tussle with your h/c locks. Wooyoung resumed his position, reclining back into the chair. Just as he was about to press play you spoke again “What are you thinking about?” “That’s a pretty invasive question.” “I’ve never seen you make that face before.”
There was a moment of hesitation. He wasn’t keen on telling you the truth, that he was thinking about you. It didn’t have anything to do with your relation to San, even if you hadn’t told him that bit of information, he still would have found you so insanely attractive. He couldn’t deny the fact that he frequently wondered what your mouth could do, other than nag him. You were uptight to a fault. Any other person would have been offended by your harsh approach, but Wooyoung found it endearing. He actually enjoyed your company, every single attempt he made to get closer to you was in good spirit. He wasn’t even certain that you were into him or guys in general, it was more of a suspicion that was proving itself true with each lingering glance in his direction.
So instead, he responded with a witty retort. “I’m imagining that I’m at the beach with the hot sun and even hotter babes.” Man, this guy sucked, however, he was attractive. You hadn’t seen it before but the sun shining down on him proved to be your new weakness. Summer looked good on him.,
“Sounds like a dream, now share!” Springing up you strolled towards the boy, tugging at his arm that was lazily thrown over the arm rest. “The hell?!” “Didn’t you hear me? Time to share that fantasy, get down.” Wooyoung, used to this behaviour could only chuckle at your words. “Wooyoung.I.Just.Want.To.Do.My.Job.” “Fine, move out the way I’m getting down.” Wooyoung Leapt down from his throne with ease “There you go, have at it.” Wasting little time, you fumbled up onto the seat. Ironically you had little to no climbing abilities despite being a scout and since you were focused on not slipping and getting a concussion you failed to notice your swim shorts ride up your legs.
Something as simple as that broke any self-control Wooyoung had, but it was the innocence that got him. You seemed just as oblivious as always, he was actually willing to overlook this mishap until you smirked at him.
In your head the smirk was a sense of dominance, you had gotten your way, end of story. However, that smirk led Wooyoung to the point of no return.
“I think we should get out of here.” You rolled your eyes “Look we only have twenty minutes left. I’m not letting you out of my sight.” How were you not getting it? He was being so blatantly obvious. “Look. I’m feeling, God, can we just talk… privately.” It was all too tempting to tease the guy but he looked completely on edge. “Yeah of course.” Landing on the ground as gracelessly as possible, you looked around for the best place to have this conversation.  It was decided that the small lifeguard’s unit that sat about a hundred feet from the lake was the best bet.
Unlocking the door, you ushered Wooyoung inside, taking the extra step to lock the door behind you. “What’s u- ““Look, I could be completely wrong but do you like guys?” “I’m not against them, you’ve seen me with my male friends.”  He was starting to wonder whether you were just that oblivious or just a stick in the mud. “I know that, I’m asking if you’re attracted to other men.”
Wooyoung had promised that he wouldn’t torment you, but for some reason you were still anticipating the worst if you did confess to anything. So, you gave the same answer you gave to Anne all those months ago. “That’s absurd, I’m not into guys. I’m straight.”  Your lie seemed to convince her at the time but Wooyoung saw through your half-hearted words. “Look I’m not asking because I’m weirded out but you’ve been acting a little…look you keep staring at me and I don’t know how to feel about it.” “Oh, come on don’t flatter yourself Wooyoung, it’s nothing really.” Wooyoung licked his lower lip in frustration.  “Look if I tell you something about myself can you answer one question for me?” “If it’ll make you happy go ahead, but please make this quick I don’t want to leave the kids alone for too long.”
“Great! Don’t worry this won’t take long.” He may have come across as overly enthusiastic but in reality, his nerves were starting to get the best of him. “You’re not the only one who isn’t straight, unlike you I’m just better at hiding it. So let me ask you again “Are you attracted to me?”
It felt absurd, this couldn’t be happening. While you were still trying to comprehend the words, he had spoken Wooyoung leaned in, his voice no louder than a faint whisper. “Feeling’s mutual.” While your brain attempted to come up with a long list of excuses as to why you shouldn’t give in to him, your body acts, swiftly pulling him in for a kiss. After the initial shock Wooyoung resumed his cocky playfulness, nipping at your lip. “I didn’t think you liked me that much.” “Shut up.” “Come on I’m just teasing.”
Wooyoung cupped your face, pulling you back it didn’t take long for his soft lips to soothe every single one of your worries. “More, Wooyoung I think I want you to touch me.” Even in his most vivid fantasy he never thought you’d be begging for his touch. “Where? Here?” The amusement was evident in his voice as he brought his hands to rest upon the bare skin just shy of your hip bones. The light circling motion as he traced aimless shapes summoned gentle whimpers. “S-stop teasing me, you know exactly where I want your hand.”
Wooyoung clicked his tongue, his mock displeasure wholly covering up the fact he thrived on your demanding attitude. “I didn’t know pretty boy had so much bite.” Whining in frustration you rested your forehead against his. “Woo you’re wasting my time.” Maybe he had gotten carried away, he quickly glances up at the clock hanging on the wall. “Looks like I’m going to have to make you cum in less than ten minutes, challenge accepted.”
Wooyoung swiped at the various clipboards that littered the desk behind you, too caught up in the moment to even react when they hit the floor with a clang. He leaned in for one final kiss, whining when you tilted your head to the side. Not wanting to let you win this heated battle he took to nipping down the side of your neck as he lifted you onto the desk. While you were far too preoccupied with the sensation of your skin between his teeth Wooyoung tugged your swim shorts down tossing them off to the side.
A hiss slipped through your gritted teeth as his hand came into contact with your already hard member. Even though his touch was light and his hands soft, your voice remained caught in your throat. You wanted to test his patience just as he had tested yours, but the only thing you had to offer was a pathetic buck of your hips each time his hand edged closer to your balls.  You shuffled forward holding yourself against him, leaning your head into his shoulder you whined. “Don’t stop.”  As if to spite you Wooyoung stilled his hand, bringing your head up you frowned at the loss of contact.  “Hey lighten up, I want to try something.”
It was his turn to pull down his swim shorts, not knowing what to expect you play nice, allowing him to bring your left leg up for better access. You closed your eyes waiting for him to enter you, instead he pressed his dick against yours. Once again, his hand returned, this time he held both of you in his hand resuming with short, feverish strokes. Your own arms began to shake as the pleasure he deprived you of returned, feeling far more intense than before.  Letting your eyes close and head loll to the side you failed to see him swipe your tip, merging your precum with his. One more clench from him had you shuddering against him as you came onto his hand, even though you were trying to recover Wooyoung continued. The overstimulation forced you to open your eyes looking him chase his high, not even phased by your cum coating his hand. “Woo, stop, it’s too much.” “Hang in there, I’m nearly done.” Wooyoung moved his hand faster only for you to cry out, gripping his biceps you left small crescent indents. The light pain was it all took for him to reach his release.
Even through the lust that was clouding your mind you managed to peer up at him, marvelling at how gorgeous he looked with his clenched jaw that only slightly relaxed when he began muttering a string of incomprehensible curses.
Catching his breath Wooyoung pulled away from you, looking at the clock. “Told ya I could get you cumming in under ten minutes, I think that deserves a kiss.” His comment was weightless, it was intended to float in one ear and out the other but you caught it mid-air with a warm smile that made his heart skip a beat. “You’re ridiculous.” Normally whenever you’d say that it would sting, as if you were ripping a band-aid off of his heart. Instead, you gifted him with a honey-sweet kiss, reassuring him that this wasn’t a dream, even if it felt too good to be true. It was nearly impossible for you to admit that you liked him, the words just weren’t there but the lovesick look in your eyes told him everything he needed to know
The walk back to the lake was full of the cheesiest smiles that the two of you could muster, you intended to drop it when by the time you came in view of the kids. But Wooyoung had another one of his brilliant ideas, ignoring your whining he pushed you to the side so he could take the small climb back onto the chair. “Wooyoung!” Instead of answering he shuffled into the seat, partially spreading his legs “What’re you waiting for? Didn’t you want to share that fantasy with me?” He stretched his arm out smiling when you took his hand, steadying yourself just so you could climb into his lap.
All the wriggling that he was doing became apparent when you realised, he had pulled his Walkman out from behind him. Noticing your doe-eyed expression Wooyoung took it upon himself to lean in close placing one ear pad over your ear and the other on his.
For the first time that day you closed your eyes, ignoring the loud game of Marco Polo that was taking place but before you could fully drift into a peaceful daydream Wooyoung made sure to let you know how he felt.
“San 37, y/n 2.” “Wait how is a confession only worth two points?!” “It would have been five points if it was a verbal confession. But don’t worry, we have the rest of summer for you to catch up.”
Tumblr media
By the time the last day had come around you were still far from beating San, while you would say the whole point system was just there to piss you off, Wooyoung begged to differ “You’re just a little embarrassing.” You both currently stood in the kitchen, staring at the bacon that was closer to ash than anything edible. Having Wooyoung as your boyfriend meant that you drew the short straw with kitchen duty, ever since Doris gave him the opportunity to cook breakfast once a week you were pulled along even if you weren’t the best chef around. The only thing you got out of these moments was complete privacy to kiss the life out of him. Ever since that awkward confession you were unable to be around each other without acting like dumb kids who were hopelessly in love, luckily Pinefield remained oblivious to everything that had happened. Shocking considering how touchy Wooyoung was.
Amongst all of the sexual favours you had done for each other you always faltered when it came to actual sex.  Back in the lifeguard’s unit all those weeks ago you were prepared to get it over and done with in thanks to that lust filled frenzy, yet things weren’t that simple. You just couldn’t bring yourself to feel that open and comfortable again, it wasn’t like Wooyoung ever pressed you on the matter. He was content either way, but today was the last day you had with him, well not exactly, yes you were leaving Pinefield but Wooyoung assured you that you had him for life now. That didn’t make you feel any better, you were aware of how removed and cold to the touch you could be, you were way more mellow now but you still felt wildly uncomfortable admitting out loud that you actually loved him. There were countless times wherein you had accidentally cock-blocked yourself, each time you credited that to the trauma that came from your near kiss with Jaehyun.
But that was then and on the last day, it felt all too right to switch roles. It was time you became the one with the bright, charming disposition. Which wasn’t really the easiest thing to do, but if that issue of Teen magazine you found lying around told you anything, it was to trust your heart.
“So Wooyoung, you doing anything tonight?” “Probably not but I haven’t even thought about what I want for lunch, you’re expecting a lot from me Y/n.” “Well, is it okay if I steal you away for the night? I wanted to repay you for this summer. “You’re such an idiot I told you I’d come by your place after we got home, stop trying to ditch me it’s rude.” Wooyoung wrapped his arms around you while you stirred the scrambled egg “Stop twisting my words, I’ve got a surprise for you.” “Nice! See you then.” The door creaked open causing Wooyoung to let go of you making you lose balance and singe your finger on the flame that licked the side of the pan. “Mother of God Wooyoung! That hurt!” You intended to give him a piece of your mind but instead you were greeted with Doris’s friendly smile. “Y/n deary that looks bad, Mr. Hawke wants to see you, but first come with me, let’s get some ice on that.”
Unfortunately, that was the only time you had with Wooyoung until you slipped into the cabin that night. Hawke had kept a close eye on you giving you housekeeping tasks that left you in his presence for the majority of the day, you had assumed the camp was none the wiser but all of Hawke’s questions alluded to quite a bit of suspicion from the older man. You preached the cover story that you weren’t a sinner, and in fact Wooyoung was a friend of a cousin of yours and that he was actually a decent person to be around. All of that acting tired you out, the only thing preventing you from crashing your head onto the pillow knocking out for the night was your lover’s expectant look. In an attempt to seem as casual as possible you walked past him to the bathroom, when you had  passed him you spoke lowly “I’ll come get you when the others fall asleep.” Wooyoung nodded immediately launching into a cover up “I’m glad your finger’s better, I didn’t think it would be that bad.” As usual his constant chattering went over the head of the others urging them to fall asleep quicker than anticipated.
Making sure the coast was clear you sat up scanning the room, realising that Wooyoung was also up doing the same thing. When he made eye contact with you, he smiled and pointed towards the cabin door. Nodding you gestured towards his shoes. While he was getting ready you tiptoed towards the corner of the room grabbing two kerosene lamps, lighting them while you still had the dim cabin lights.
Wooyoung let out a loud exhale when he joined you outside “We better get out of here I’m not sure if I saw someone walking up or if it was a trick of the light.” Passing him a lamp you shushed him with a frown and walked off into the distance waiting for him to jog up to you. “Sorry about that Woo, I really don’t want to get caught. But I’m glad to see you. I really missed you.” “Hey well you’ve got me now, so do what you will with that.” Your free hand reaches towards Wooyoung’s clasping it tightly as you walked ahead practically dragging him behind you. The fool behind you giggled, he had mentioned it casually during conversation but whenever you demanded something from him or “wore the pants” in the relationship, he became weak at the knees.
It had to be no less than a ten-minute walk away from the campground when you came to a stop. “We’re here.” Wooyoung wasn’t sure he knew where “here” was but he got some kind of idea as the orange light illuminated the field of daisies around him. Placing the lamp to the side you fished out a plaid picnic blanket laying it down you sat down waiting for Wooyoung to take his seat next to you.
“I didn’t expect this from you of all people.” “Oh hush, I have a plan and if you keep running your mouth, you’re going to make me anxious.” You reach back for his hand, your nerves showing as your hands shook in the warm summer night’s breeze. Instead of addressing the elephant in the room aka your shaking hands Wooyoung brought your hand up stroking it before giving it a chaste kiss. “You’re probably wondering why we’re here.” “I admit it did cross my mind.” “I wanted to star gaze, but I brought you here for another reason. I found this place in my first year and I thought it would be suitable to say goodbye here.” Wooyoung froze, his heart in his throat. Shocked was an understatement, he didn’t even do anything this was so messed up “You’ve got to be kidding me.” “No, I don’t mean it like that! I just don’t think I’m coming back to Pinefield next year. So, I wanted to make my last night memorable.  I was already thinking of cutting my ties with this place but Hawke just basically interrogated me today and I decided that I don’t want that. What I do want to say is that I’m an idiot who can’t tell his boyfriend how much I love him.”  You looked up at Wooyoung your eyes crinkled as you flashed him a bashful smile. “I don’t say it enough but I fucking love you Wooyoung”
If it was any other occasion, he would have laughed at how awkward your cursing sounded but instead he pulled you in for a rib-crushing hug. For the first time since you had known him, he was rendered speechless, just existing with you in his arms. Deciding to play along with him you let him pull you down onto the picnic blanket, he shuffled around so you could both look up at the twinkling stars that hung low in the night sky.
After a brief moment of silence had passed before Wooyoung found the right thing to say. “Coming here was a mistake, I didn’t even want to be a counsellor but now, I can thank my stupidity otherwise I wouldn’t have had my heart stolen by an annoying, uptight, cold-hearted camp counsellor.” “Well, I’m glad you like them cold. But seriously thank you Wooyoung. You fixed a broken heart.” It was Wooyoung’s turn to tilt his head in confusion “I was outed for trying to kiss my best friend, word spread that I was just some gay little camp scout, so I came here. Basically, thank you for being so stupid.” Despite the moonlight shining down upon the two of you, you swore you saw the sun in his eyes, so you kissed him. It felt different from all the other kisses you had shared, it felt complete.
Wooyoung snaked his way under your shirt, his touch searing your skin, but it was okay, it was safe. You pushed Wooyoung onto the blanket straddling him. He was about to whine and kick up a fuss when you tightly intertwined your hands with his, leaning back in for another kiss. His lips were reminiscent of the sticky marshmallows that he ate by the bonfire, which made up for the fact that Hawke wouldn’t even let you join in on their small end of camp celebration.
The kisses that were initially forceful and demanding were now needy and messy. Impatient as ever Wooyoung pulled his hands away from yours to try and flip you over, you pushed his hands away with a cocky smirk. “I’m sorry but It’s my turn to love you.”
You left his lap only to part his legs, kneeling between his thighs you placed a soft kiss on his forehead. A silent oath that you were going to treat him as if he was made of glass. Wooyoung’s jaw went slack when you removed your shirt, arching your back as you did so. There was no doubt that you knew how to get him flustered, it was a shame that you hid that side of yourself as often as you did. But maybe it was for the best, Wooyoung never denied the fact that he was a possessive guy. So, he was just counting all of his lucky stars that he was the only one who got to see you like this.
“I should have asked earlier but are you sure you’re okay with me doing this Wooyoung?” “I want this, please go all the way.” You were trying to remain serious but you broke into a fit of laughter as he continued to quote the song you listened to by the lake. “It feels so right, being here with you tonight.” “Stoppp you’re making me blush! But seriously are you okay with me being on top?” “Relax will you! I want this.”
“In that case” You gripped Wooyoung by the hips, tugging him in closer “I’m about to rock your world. “San 79” “Don’t you dare mention San now, that’s such a turn off.” Wooyoung’s squeaky laughter was contagious, but you were too worked up to laugh with him. Instead, you pulled his shorts down focusing on palming the bulge in his pants. Failing to grip anything more than the picnic blanket Wooyoung sat up holding you close to him, if he couldn’t handle this, he had no idea how he was going to get through tonight. Despite his clinginess you continue to palm him while he began to lazily place kisses across your body, starting at your lower jaw and travelling down to your Adam’s apple and finally stopping at your heart.
It was a tricky job, considering Wooyoung was so firmly pressed against you, but you managed to remove his boxers sighing as you felt his length rest against your lower abdomen. “As much as I want to keep holding you like this, I’d prefer to fuck you.” Trust you to seem so proper even when you said the filthiest things, Wooyoung leaned back trying to give you as much space without having to stop touching you. Discarding your boxers, you guide Wooyoung to lie down, fighting against all of your urges you took it slow bringing three fingers up to your mouth and lathering them with saliva. The sensation of your pointer finger entering him made him throw his head back allowing himself to look up at the stars once again.  The sensation of your finger pressing against his tight inner walls was borderline euphoric, if it wasn’t for the sweat beading against his torso, he would have thought he was dreaming. The feeling intensified with the addition of a second finger being buried into him. “Shame on you for not doing this sooner, your fingers feel so good.” Wooyoung moved to angle his hips trying to get your fingers to sink in deeper. However, at that moment you had already pushed in a third finger. “F-fuck!” Concern was at the forefront of your mind thinking assuming that you must have hurt him, his blissed-out face quelled your worries. “You’re doing so well Woo, thank you so much.”
That simple comment sucker punched Wooyoung in the heart, he wanted to be the one thanking you, instead he was writhing around trying to delay an orgasm that felt too close for comfort. Then you had to go and effortlessly brush against his prostate “Y/n, please stop, m’gonna cum if you keep this up.”  Wanting to drag this out a little longer you removed your fingers, brushing them on the edge of the shirt Wooyoung was still wearing making him scrunch his face up in disgust. “My bad, its not like you’re going to be wearing it the whole time.” It sounded like a random comment but Wooyoung could tell by the dominance in your voice that it was an order, so he removed his shirt.
Getting a closer look at the tattoos spread across his body you brought his legs up, licking your palm you brought it down to lubricate yourself before brushing the tip against his entrance. Wooyoung shuddered at the sensation only to whine when you finally dipped your body and pushed into him. His body went rigid, he let his eyes fall shut so he could marvel at how well you filled him up, once you had bottomed out completely you pulled him towards you so your body was tightly plastered against his. Even though you had yet to move your heart was violently thumping against your chest, as you both gasped out disorderly breaths.
“You feel so good Wooyoung, just relax and I’ll make you feel so good just you wait.” “I already feel good, but fine, you’re the boss .” Keeping to his words Wooyoung exhaled, loosening around you. As soon as his body was lax you started thrusting into him “Y/n oh, that feels so good. More.” Heeding his word you gripped his legs, placing them over your shoulder. It was hard to maintain any self-control around Wooyoung, especially when he looked like that, face red and flushed, hair sticking to his forehead. A particularly hard thrust forced a groan from Wooyoung “Shit, I’m sorry Woo, I’m so sorry.” Making a move to pull away from him Wooyoung held you in your place “We’ve spoken about this; you never have to use that word; you have nothing to be sorry for.”
Lowering his legs by a fraction you began moving again, though your thrusts weren’t as hard they were hitting the right spot each time. Wooyoung whined at the friction, he knew full well that he was nearing his climax and this time he welcomed it. He tapped your hand, “I want to do something.” You let go of his legs watching him prop himself up with his arms, his back slightly arched. Moving back and forth he tried his hardest to ride you, it was a precarious angle but it hit his prostate spot on. “I’m so close, I can’t...” Before Wooyoung could finish his sentence, he came, cum spurting onto your lower torso, he really wishes he could have held out just that few seconds longer so he could experience the magic of cumming with you but at least he got to really take in the sight of you pulling out only to cum on his stomach.
Wooyoung crinkled his nose when you fell to his side, placing a sloppy kiss at the corner of his mouth. “That… was amazing.” You smirked at the boy who was still trying to get down from the high he was riding. “I hope it made up for lost time.” “Didn’t it ever. I can’t believe you just did that.” Any sense of dominance that you had disappeared leaving you a blushing mess. As if you hadn’t just spent the whole night making out with him you leaned in for another kiss. You made the move to rest your head on his shoulder, Wooyoung did the same almost headbutting you in the process. “Don’t worry Woo, I’ve got you.”  Not having the energy to refuse you Wooyoung brought his head down to rest on your chest.
It was nearly impossible to determine how long the two of you were cuddled up, talking and pointing at the stars. The sex-crazed stupor you were still in broke when something small and wet fell onto your cheek.  Luckily you caught Wooyoung before he fell into a light slumber,” Wooyoungie, it’s raining, get up sleepy head.” The rain was getting heavier by the minute even though there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky. You didn’t notice it initially but Wooyoung had fallen behind a slight limp in his step. Coming to a stop you waited for him to catch up, passing your back pack to him you crouched low waiting for him to jump on.  You marched through the forestry, dodging mushroom rings while Wooyoung wrapped his arms around your neck, murmuring the sweetest things one could ever imagine.
The rain was pelting down at full force by the time you returned to the cabin, masking your heavy footsteps from the added weight of Wooyoung who had been attempting to tickle you for one whole minute. Dropping him off onto his bed, you brought him in for one more hug ruffling his dark hair. “Well, thanks for being my date for the night, I’m sorry this is awkward I don’t know what to say… Maybe just go to sleep, you look like you’re about to pass out.” Wooyoung rubbed his eyes and whined “Well I am going to sleep but not because you told me to.”  Rolling your eyes at Wooyoung huddled under the sheets you returned to your own bed, finding it nearly impossible to stop smiling as you thought recalled the entire night.
Another thing you found impossible was falling asleep, you were put off by the thunder and lightning despite it not being that violent. It wasn’t a complete fear of yours but it bothered you all the same. Murmuring a soft “Oh my god” you sat up, hair a mess and a frown plastered on your face. Clearly the lack of sleep was messing with your head considering you got out of bed tiptoeing over to Wooyoung. Not wanting to disturb him too much you lightly tapped his shoulder trying to wake him up, to no avail. “Hey, hey wake up… Wooyoung!” You whisper shouted, he jolted awake blinking rapidly, trying to adjust to the dim light. “Mmm, it’s just you” With that he turned over not even phased by your presence. Instead of whining at him feigning ignorance you stayed perched by the side of his bed. “I can’t sleep.” Maybe you didn’t sulk but Wooyoung could feel you pouting, so he turned over pulling his sheets back, his eyes were still closed and his brain could barely comprehend anything more than a few words.
So, you slid into his bed, sighing when his arms wrapped around your lower back. It was his turn to pull you closer letting your head rest against his chest. The thought hadn’t crossed your mind that the two of you could potentially get caught, but it truly didn’t matter. It’s not like you were ever coming back to Pinefield anyways. Yes, it had been a home to you for years, but something had changed. You weren’t the hurt guy that showed up 12 weeks ago, you weren’t scared of the judgement anymore. It was a soothing balm to your heart knowing that you could move on all thanks to Wooyoung who had said it many times “I don’t care whether you like it or not Y/n, but you’re stuck with me for life so get used to it.” So, you fell asleep. The heavy rain and his soft heartbeat the soundtrack for a summer love that was far from over.

okay in honor of the little snippet i posted of this au yesterday, here is a little guide to the parent trap au! i don't plan on doing much else with it so i wanted to share in case y'all are interested hehe
-no faerun/magic, mercedes is on a longform journey of self discovery when she meets hen- the child of an infamous politican, who has spent his entire life stuck under said father's thumb. they connect pretty instantly!
-(also, they are both trans <3 and while mercedes has already socially transitioned, henry has not </3 it's one of the things they connect about)
-after a couple years of mercedes sticking around LA and dating henry in secret, the twins are born! unfortunately, this is also when barry discovers the relationship and. very much disapproves. his kid having even ONE child out of wedlock (let alone two!) is something he does NOT want for his reputation, and since henry hasn't left the house (not by his own volition), he's forced to reluctantly end the relationship with mercedes.
-mercedes leaves to go back to her brother's place in colorado, but not before her and henry agree to each take one of the twins- a reminder of their relationship. mercedes takes sparrow, henry keeps lark
-after a few years of raising lark quietly under his father's thumb, henry finally gets a job outside of his father's influence and is able to escape- mostly because he feared for lark's wellbeing. he gets his own place, cuts ties with his family, and strives to ensure that lark grows up happy and free.
-meanwhile, with the help from her brother, mercedes opens a witchery! she sells crystals and does tarot readings, and when sparrow's old enough, he starts helping.
-growing up separated means the twins are not nearly as similar as they are in canon. lark is quieter and more withdrawn while sparrow is cheery and affectionate. both of them make friends pretty easily though, and sparrow takes after mercedes in more ways than one- it wouldn't be a nyx au if sparrow weren't some flavor of trans and in here, where sparrow grows up with mercedes alone? yeah.
-when the twins are both thirteen, henry and mercedes send them to the same summer camp! it was something they had talked about when the twins were born, though neither one of them realized the other would REMEMBER.
-at the camp is when the twins really grow into the mischievous gremlins we know them as in canon. when they meet, they bounce off of each other's energy, causing mayhem and destruction wherever they go <3 my beloveds, truly
-towards the end of the camp is when they actually talk about how much they look alike, and their respective upbringings. lark complains about how his father's been flirting with a coworker and bringing him and his annoying son over for dinners, how henry is annoyingly overbearing and a pushover. sparrow, meanwhile, loves her mother so dearly! but she's always wanted to meet her father. it would be solving two birds with one stone to reconnect them, they both realize: sparrow would get the father she wants, and lark wouldn't have to deal with darryl and grant OR be the sole recipient of henry's affections!
-so naturally, they decide to switch places.
-lark cuts sparrow's hair to match his, sparrow teaches lark enough spanish to be passable with mercedes. they exchange tips for how to be each other- mostly for funsies, though, since the plan to get henry and mercedes back together doesn't really require them being each other, it's just part of the fun!
-the camp ends, they go back to the other's place with henry and mercedes both none the wiser. lark finds himself a little overwhelmed with how much mercedes immediately loves him and respects when he wants to be left alone, and though the witchery isn't his style, he finds his uncle fun to be around, and it's a little embarrassing, how easily he fits right in.
-sparrow, on the other hand, has such a hard time pretending to be lark. she finds henry's jokes to be a genuine delight - to the point that she has to hide her face in her sleeves to stop herself from smiling - and thrives under the affection he lavishes onto her.
-so naturally, she cracks first, spilling to henry after a few weeks that she's actually sparrow and that lark is with mercedes. as my little snippet shows: it's a very teary confession.
-the only way to switch back now is for henry and mercedes to meet up! with sparrow and lark negotiating with their respective parents, henry and sparrow end up going to the witchery themselves- mostly because at this point, mercedes still doesn't know about the swap (lark thought it would be a nice surprise for her, having henry and sparrow show up on her doorstep)
-and what a surprise it is! sparrow's happy to be home, lark is surprisingly happy to see his father, and henry and mercedes - now both in a position where they can actually rekindle their relationship and be with each other without fear of outsiders - instantly reconnect.
-plus, lark and sparrow make a strong case for how they're better off together and really shouldn't henry and mercedes try to do SOMETHING to ensure they can see each other?
-(and, as a bonus: lark and sparrow DO TRY to ward off darryl once henry and mercedes are back together in the form of what happens in the movie! but. well. polyamory exists <333)

OOH IF YOU'RE STILL TAKING ASKS FOR THE TROPE THING can i get vernon and like you two are assigned partners on an art project but he's awful at art LMFAO okay thank love you xx
JJ BELOVED HI HELLO I AM FINALLY GETTING AROUND TO THIS <333333
okay first of all i LOVE this idea skfjllkdfl this would definitely be a fun, comedic, romcom nonsense fic hehehe
i'm picturing this being set in like, a fucking calculus class and this project is the professor's way of trying to "bring more creativity to the sciences" or whatever. and vernon's just like. 'dude. how on earth is making a collage...sculpture...thing... supposed to help me learn calculus???' no one in the class really gets it either, since they can just, you know, do the math without having to create anything. but whatever, a little arts n crafts never hurt anyone [spoiler alert: it maybe hurts someone *cough*vernon*cough* a little at some point]
anyway, vernon ends up being partnered up with reader who, thank god, actually has an idea for what they can do for their project and also talks like someone who knows about art. in fact, they seem really into art and like, super pumped for this project. which is great! except, they're also really cute? and like, they're maybe kinda sorta the person he's been lowkey crushing on from afar since last semester???
and because having a crush sometimes makes you say/do stupid things, he tells reader that he can totally help with the art portion, easy peasy. [narrator voice: it was not, in fact, easy peasy] queue montage of the week leading up to when they're supposed to meet up again: - vernon desperately watching all kinds of youtube videos trying to learn how to Art™️ - him walking into a Michael's and just being so lost and overwhelmed that he just. has a bit of an existential crisis in the fabric section - he somehow manages to accidently cut himself with a pair of scissors while trying to do some kind of papercraft thing and has to go to the nurse's office. - his roommate (let's make it chan for funsies) is convinced that he's having some kind of mental breakdown "hyung, i don't know what to do, he's just staring at a pile of children's playdough like it holds the secrets of the universe. or maybe like it killed his pet goldfish. i don't know, he's just being weird."
all of this leads up to when reader and vernon meet up again to present their 'prototypes' of the art part of the project so they can decide which they like better and then start actually working on it. reader is already at the cafe they agreed to meet at, and vernon (sleep deprived and already overly caffeinated) walks up to where reader is sitting, drops his sad attempt at art on the table, and blurts "i lied about being good at art because you're really cute and it broke my brain a little bit and i'm actually really, really bad at it. i'm so sorry." and then he fucking WALKS AWAY because he's a LOSER and you were extra cute today and his brain is still a bit broken and reader ends up having to chase him down the street, his shitty attempt at art clutched in one hand, to tell him that it's fine, they can handle the art part as long as he does his fair share of the math
"and like. maybe i could, teach you? sometime? if you want to learn, that is. and i'm not the best artist, but i've taught some summer camp classes before, and—" / "wait, you'd really wanna do that? after seeing how bad at it i am?" / "well... it means i'd get to spend some extra time with you outside of school, so... yeah"
vernon of course readily agrees, and they start going on little art dates together (and yes, they're Date dates bc vernon finally gets his shit together and asks them out) and they get a solid B- on the project bc while reader is great at art, turns out neither of them are the best at math rip </3
[send me a person and a trope/au and i'll tell you what kind of plot i'd write for them]

A Knight and His Prince
Virgil contemplates his relationship with his beloved prince, Roman. Patton contemplates his relationship with his son and said son's first love.
Lots of fluff with a twist 💜
A/N: My piece for a little exchange among friends; my giftee being @its-the-cat-queen! It was so much fun to write for her aus; a nice pile of fluff to counteract my usual angst ;)
That being said I genuinely don't know what to tag this with so please let me know if I need to add anything. Enjoy!!
Read on Ao3 here!
-----
The early evening around them was warm, washing their camp in the soft glow of sunset; the firelight kissed Roman’s beautiful face as the dark creeped in around them. The prince had let his little hare out to sniff at the dandelions; the bounty of late summer. Virgil carefully removed his hood, laying it on one of the large stones they’d pulled forward as seats to rest on.
Roman was inspecting his sword again, running his hand carefully over smooth steel and worn leather. His crown was set just barely askew on his head. Virgil smiled to himself; his prince never could quite keep the circlet balanced, but he dared not take it off.
It’s possible he loved the crown almost as much as he loved Virgil.
The thought made Virgil’s smile widen, just a bit, as he plopped down next to his prince and leaned his head on his shoulder.
“It’s been a good day today,” Roman said, wrapping his arm around the knight. Virgil hummed in lieu of an answer, listening to the prince’s steady heartbeat and honey voice. “I’m looking forward to the journey home.” He turned to Virgil, his face alight with a new idea, “We should throw a ball! And invite the whole kingdom, and we can even set out food for the poorer families, so everyone can enjoy the festivities.”
Virgil’s smile widened further at that; “My father would object to the entire affair if we didn’t provide an actually nutritious meal alongside the party treats. Not to mention, only one of your dads’ cooking is edible.” Both paused for a moment, shuddering as they remembered Roman’s papa Remus being left to his own devices in the kitchens one fateful night. The green pile of goo that had been set out on plates as if it was anything close to food. The horror from Roman’s dad Patton when the king returned to find such a sad excuse for a meal.
Although, Roman and Virgil had ended up feasting on roasted chickens tossed in bread crumbs and golden strips of potatoes that evening, after the initial disgust and panic; it was the highest form of cuisine, in Roman’s humble opinion.
The rumble of Roman’s words in Virgil’s ear was soft, comforting. Even when laughing, the prince stayed gentle for Virgil’s sake. He felt Roman’s arm wrap around his shoulders, and the prince began carding fingers through his knight’s hair as he rambled, planning out the grandiose party they would host.
After a while, Roman’s hare hopped closer to the pair, and the prince lifted her gently into his lap to stroke her ears. He went quiet, staring off into the middle distance as if contemplating the woods beyond. The crackle of their fire and the calls of distant birds was the only noise for a long while, before suddenly Roman looked to Virgil again and asked, “Will you dance with me?”
Virgil flushed, a little embarrassed, as he admitted, “I don’t know how to dance. And we don’t have any music.” The rabbit turned to sniff at his cheek, as if sensing his discomfort.
“I could teach you,” Roman said gently. “It’s easier to learn when you can go slow.” He gently nudged the rabbit off his lap, and she wandered away to forage for more treats, always staying close enough to watch the pair. Roman stood, and offered a hand to Virgil, which the knight took with little hesitation. The prince pulled him close, so that they were chest to chest, and put a careful hand around Virgil’s waist.
Roman was always so warm; his hands soft and welcoming, his heart steady and soothing. Virgil felt himself relax, even if he was about to make a fool of himself. He faintly remembered one of his fathers trying to teach him a few steps, all while Virgil stood on the tops of the elder’s feet.
It hadn’t gone well.
Roman began to carefully guide the pair in simple motions, holding Virgil’s hand and waist, leading him with confidence. If it were anyone else, the knight would have been staring at his feet, flushed scarlet in shame. But this was Roman, his Roman, who never looked at him unkindly.
His Roman, who sat with him as they shared books, and praised him for his ideas, and protected him from all of the strange beasts of the world. His Roman, who had never laughed at him, only with him. His Roman, who was staring into his eyes right now with all the adoration in the world, making Virgil feel like he could do anything.
His Roman, whose crown was slipping off his head again.
Virgil laughed, gently pushing the prince back and reaching up to straighten the crown. The taller man bent slightly, so Virgil could reach, and Virgil couldn’t resist the swell of bravery he felt as he softly leaned closer to kiss the prince’s forehead after the crown was set.
When Roman met his eyes next, they were filled with awe. As if Virgil had just slain some magnificent beast, or done something amazingly heroic. His hand came to caress Virgil’s cheek as they stared at each other.
“I love you,” Roman whispered, as if the world were only them. “I’m the luckiest man alive, because I have you by my side.” The prince returned Virgil’s kiss with his own to Virgil’s cheek, and Virgil felt his face heating once more.
“I love you too,” Virgil replied softly, almost surprised as the words came out of his mouth. “You make me feel like I can do anything in the world.” They pressed their foreheads together, feeling the world around them go soft and quiet’ as if it was only them, only this spot, that made up the entire universe.
But, of course, the moment had to end, as a familiar voice split the air from father off in the field.
“Roman! Your daddy’s here to pick you up!”
       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Patton couldn’t help a giggle at watching the two toddlers, even from afar. Roman’s face was split with a bubbly smile as he led Virgil, hand in hand, over from the edge of the playground. Virgil had his own tiny smile, and followed Roman like he was the other boy’s whole world. He was so proud of his baby; always looking after his little friend. Poor Virgil had had such a rough first month at daycare, and now he and Roman were almost attached at the hip.
“Daddy!” the kiddo cried, “Daddy we played prince again!” Roman’s yellow paper crown slipped from his head, (Patton suspected it wasn’t for the first time today) and Virgil tugged lightly on their conjoined hands, making the bubblier toddler stop.
It was hard not to squeal, watching as little Virgil retrieved the accessory, and very carefully set it back on Roman’s head, as if it really was made of gold. Patton also noticed that Virgil was carrying their shared toy, Mrs Fluffybottom, in the pocket of his onesie, and it was vaguely reminiscent of a kangaroo.
“Princes, again?” Patton asked, crouching down in front of the two boys. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched the daycare attendant walk away, knowing Patton would take both boys home today. Roman nodded, and hummed an affirmative, his whole body bouncing with his excitement. Virgil, too, was bouncing, just a bit, and he swung their conjoined hands lightly.
“I’s a knight today.” the smaller toddler said softly. The daycare was doing a lot to help the boy with his confidence, and by extension, his enunciation. Still, Virgil speaking up at all was rare, preferring to follow Roman’s leads and let the other boy talk for him when adults or other kids were around. Patton gave the boy a warm smile, and ruffled both kiddos’ hair at the same time, producing the sweet sound of giggling.
“I’m sure you were a very brave knight,” Patton said, offering an arm in case Virgil wanted to be picked up. Both boys gave the affirmative, and Patton found himself with both arms full, hefting the two toddlers up and heading towards his car. “Are you kiddos excited for your sleepover tonight?”
Roman cried “Yeah!” as loud as he could, and Virgil hummed again, nodding against Patton’s shoulder. “Virgie is the best knight EVER!” he hollered, pulling his wooden sword from his pocket and kicking his feet as Patton buckled them in. “We’re gonna build a castle an’ bring out all the animals to be our subjects, an’ we’re gonna throw a party an’ invite everybody from all over!” He started to babble, planning out the story he and Virgil would be playing out when they got home; occasionally pausing to ask Virgil his opinion or ideas, to which the other boy offered that same soft smile and warm voice. They would have a ball, and dancing, and cake (if daddy said yes). Patton had a feeling he and Remus would end up in attendance at some point, and was already looking forward to seeing his eccentric artist husband crouching to play with their boy; whether that be crawling around as the monster for him to slay, or sitting cross legged at the coffee table holding a pink plastic teacup.
Patton loved how much Remus wanted to encourage Roman’s ideas. He loved how vibrantly Roman saw the world. He loved being the king to Roman’s storybook prince.
Patton tried to listen in as he drove, happy to hear his son so happy; and happier still to hear Virgil softly following along. He remembered a few months ago when the pair had met; the initial worry to find out that Roman was being bullied by a few of his classmates (and more worry to think that the boy hadn’t told them), and then not two days later Roman coming home to say that a brave knight had appeared to save him from those meanies. Then said he wanted said knight to come over and play after school.
Patton also remembered meeting Virgil’s fathers, being more than a little relieved to find that he and Remus weren’t the only gay couple in the neighborhood anymore, and there wouldn’t be any awkward comments or meetings for the boys’ sakes. Knowing that separating the kiddos would only do more damage to their development.
The pair really were wonderful for each other.
Roman helped Virgil feel safe, and the teachers had told both families how Virgil was more likely to try new foods for lunch, explore and play away from the teachers. He had even pet a porcupine when the class went to the zoo a few weeks ago. Patton had the photo of both kiddos gently touching the quills in wonder framed and attached to the fridge; he knew Logan had done the same.
In turn, Virgil reminded Roman to be more mindful and gentle. Patton smiled as he remembered taking the boys to the park so all four parents could actually talk, and watching Roman lead Virgil around by his hand, but also constantly check in on the smaller boy. Asking Virgil’s opinions, what he wanted to do, was he tired or thirsty?
Not that Roman had been fussy or selfish, but he had a loud and vibrant personality, and used to be prone to forgetting his manners. Now, though, Roman was more patient and careful. Always attentive to Virgil, and by extension, the other people around him. Even when Virgil wasn’t around, Roman had stopped throwing his toys around when he was upset, and more often asked his questions with please’s and thank-you’s.
Patton snuck another glance at the boys from the rear-view mirror, and his heart absolutely melted as he watched Roman lean over from his car seat and give Virgil a little kiss on the back of his hand, just like the knights and princes in his favorite movies.
Tonight, they would have pizza and maybe some ice cream, and cuddle up to watch movies. He and Remus would be tasked with building a fantastic castle of pillows and blankets. All of their little ‘kingdom’s’ stuffies would be brought out in force. If Patton was lucky, he’d get some pictures from the entire affair; if he was especially lucky, he would get a picture in the morning, of the two toddlers snuggled up in a messy blanket nest, exhausted from their fun.
Yeah. The kiddos would be okay.
You want a Descendants restaurant au? I could probably put one together easily. Is there anything you especially want, like pairings, scenes? It might not turn out exactly how you envision (since I'm gonna put my own things in, of course), but let me know. I could stand to write in Descendants a bit more this year.
oh my goodness, yes??? I would LOVE to read a Descendants restaurant AU if the idea is sparking your creative fancy!
Obviously ymmv, but when I think Descendants restaurants, my immediate thought is either front of house/back of house fake rivalry with the AKs/VKs, or rival restaurants competing in some sort of....over the top challenge where the younger generation of the villain's restaurant have to work together with the children of the Auradon restaurant owners to stop their parents from rigging the competition somehow. (but that one is more a full blown AU with plot, and probably not the thoughts you are interested in hearing!)
SO the short version!
It is absolutely essential to me that Mal is one of the feral line cooks who claims to hate everyone, sleeps on a mattress on the floor of her friend's apartment, and owns a $1000 knife that is only used for cutting fish.
The only other option for her is that she's the absolute worst hostess ever. Her mom owns the restaurant, so she doesn't care how her beloved daughter treats the customers.
Jay would be so good and so charming if he was allowed to work in the front. He is not allowed to do this. The last time they set him loose on the customers, they didn't see him again for three hours, and when they found him he was shirtless inside the dumpster.
Evie is the genuinely competent pastry chef who was actually tutored in her craft instead of dumped into the dish room with a shiny new work permit the second she was old enough to be on payroll.
Carlos doesn't actually work there, he just shows up every so often to fix the perpetually broken hobart and flirt with the dish guy.
I don't have any plot here, only vibes.
The pirates also work at a restaurant, they're part of this rivalry probably.
Uma's mother died under mysterious circumstances and left her daughter full ownership of the chip shop.
(oh my god, is this some sort of boardwalk restaurant rivalry??? Uma and her pirates working the chip shop, Mal and Jay working some sort of rival fried food place, and Evie as the fancy upscale pasty restaurant across the way??? And they all have to unite against the kids from the resort restaurant??)
I don't have a plot, I don't have a plot.
Anything you write with feral line cooks would be amazing.
I've never actually worked in a restaurant kitchen, but I did work dining service at two different summer camps, and met my fiance because he was the head chef at the second camp I worked at. We bonded over the time we found a dead mouse in our hobart. The machine would turn on and get through about two cycles before it shut down, which we eventually realized was because the mouse corpse in the wiring box was wet enough to conduct a charge for about two cycles before the electricity dried it out too much to continue.
I'm so sorry about the mouse story. We worked in a kitchen in the woods. We had to keep our trash in a broken chest freezer to avoid issues with the bears.
I don't think the Descendants kids have to deal with bears.
But they might have a particularly new kid ask what to do with the live mouse they found in the glue trap one morning.
"should I just kill it with a fork??"
There's a reason I don't work in kitchens anymore lmao
To actually answer your question, I’m always a sucker for Malvie?
How about Summer Festival and Money shot? :D
Love you
Author's Note: What a wonderful idea~ I picked Angbang for this one, hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Characters: Melkor/Mairon; a brief appearance from poor Aiwendil
Synopsis: [Valinor reunion AU; modern age] Melkor and Mairon attend Yavanna's summer festival and decide to kill some time together.
Warnings: Smut
Tumblr media
"Naughty," Melkor says while Mairon sets up the camera and adjusts the lighting to better illuminate the inside of their tent, grinning from ear to ear.
"As if you weren't planning to spice up Yavanna's silly festival with a fun little performance anyway," Mairon retorts and shoots a glare over his shoulder; as expected, he catches his beloved husband in the middle of staring at his shapely backside.
"What can I say? The camping thing is fun and all, but they won't let me on stage so I have to find other ways to entertain myself."
"You poor thing."
Mairon finishes the set-up, presses the record button and crawls over to sit on Melkor's lap. His patience for banter has run out, and he sees the same reflected in his husband's eyes, idle amusement being consumed by lust and hunger the second he presses his heated body against his.
No matter how many ages pass and which forms they take, their passion remains. Be it sweet lovemaking on the silken sheets of a king-size bed or quick coupling in a hidden corner, they come together like fire and lightning – a whirlwind of hands touching, lips meeting, teeth and nails nearly breaking skin, bodies rutting against each other with increasing urgency.
Mairon soon finds himself facing the camera, proudly seated upon Melkor's lap as if it was a throne, taking his cock like it was as easy as breathing. He throws his head back and moans, smiling to himself; he already knows he's giving a wonderful performance, and their loyal subjects, as he secretly refers to their viewers and followers, will appreciate his efforts greatly. Spiting the other Valar with such illicit acts makes things even better – and he can practically feel the enjoyment in Melkor's movements too.
He rides his cock fast and hard and shamelessly strokes himself, making sure to moan and show off his enthusiasm for his husband's and their viewers' pleasure. Neither one of them is in the mood to take their time; the thrill of being discovered only heightens their lust and passion. Melkor is already tense – barely holding on – by the time Mairon arches his back and artfully spills pearly liquid all over his chest and stomach, causing him to follow suit shortly after.
Through the haze of post-orgasmic bliss, they don't notice the footsteps approaching, only turning their heads when a breathless gasp rings out. A pair of wide brown eyes is staring back at them.
"Sorry! I-I was just looking for Mairon and didn't know I was interrupting something! I-I'll come back later!" Aiwendil squeaks and disappears as fast as he can, resembling a startled rabbit.
"Now Yavanna will definitely know," Mairon purrs quietly and winks at the camera.
"I bet she will. Also make sure someone clipped that," Melkor mumbles in his ear.
"Will do."
