LOL i think a lot of people have had that experience as well! suni and i talk pretty often about how songs that would be “will” songs in canon are “mike” songs in acswy, and vice versa! which really speaks to the circumstances of the au and what they’ve been to versus canon rather than their characterizations, but it’s funny that it works out that way 🤍 also yes, we picture finn and noah as mike and will in this au, plus all the other actors who play the characters on the show!

yes exactly that! i’d say they probably even went a day or two before to make sure everything was good and so an inspection or something, and then el and will both left the following day when orientation was meant to happen!

im in the uk and we dont graduate high school here, so i forgot that this graduation party could have been from high school? but then why would max and will be wearing their uni colours? and flanking everyone as if its their university graduation? sorry to be a pedant lol, i wonder if this has been lost in culture translation lol. but i love the details you add and im so interested in your worldbuilding and how the american summer is so different to ours!

hello again!! yes, this would have been from their high school graduation in 2022 — max and will are likely wearing nyu tshirts in the photo, just as a symbol of what university they’ll be going to! that’s a pretty common thing in america i would say! i think that they just ended up on opposite ends of the photo, which is why they’re flanking the rest of the party, if that makes sense!

omg welcome to the world of squishmallows! definitely one of the quirks about will that we used to modernize him, as obviously on the show he’s gnc and seen as sensitive and not manly, so to me having stuffed animals (and being unashamed of that) is a good way to bring those traits into a modern au. i don’t think he really got any weird responses from any of his friends, since nyc is one of the most progressive places in the us and soft toys shouldn’t be defined by gender/age anyway, but if anyone said anything mean i’m sure he would just try not to associate w them 🤍

max and will have not graduated at all! they’ve completed their freshman year, where they lived in the same co-ed dorm building. for the next school year they are moving into an apartment together in nyc, but they will still be attending nyu for their sophomore year! everyone in the party is 19 and in between their college freshman and sophomore years :o)

1) i’d say we are Both over thinkers but i actually was def channeling suni during that part! suni is a woman(?) in stem and i love the way she includes a lot of more scientific terminology into her writing so i was Thinking of That during this part. however i am def also an over thinker myself sooo 😗 2) it unfortunately tasted like Metal and a little bit like Salt even tho it was fresh water sooo idk what they were doing but probably not their best!! 3) SHARK PATTERNED SWIM TRUNKS!!!!!

Idk if anyone has asked already, but do the boys still play D&D in acswy? I don’t remember it being mentioned anywhere so I got curious

while it doesn’t really come up because of the premise of the fic, they do! the four of them don’t play together often because 1. will lives in a different area than dustin/lucas/mike so they don’t all meet up in person too much (although they text and call individually and are very close still of course) and 2. before this summer, mike and will specifically haven’t Really hung out outside of camp at all except for their/their friends’ birthdays and other special occasions. however something that’s very important to us is that they definitely got together online to play over the summer of 2020 and i think that was something that all of them really enjoyed, so calling them The Party would still technically be lore accurate here, even though i don’t think they refer to themselves as the party as much as they do in canon. also similarly to canon, mike and lucas and dustin’s high school had a d&d club that they dabbled in (mike and dustin more so because lucas was off being an Athlete and doing Athlete Things sometimes), but overall they’re all dorks, so yes, definitely!
