you know what would be really funny, although not really in character? stubby boardman actually being an alias, just not sirius'. regulus survived and went in hiding under the alias of stubby boardman (no one's gonna think he's the lead singer of the hobgoblins), but got fed up of band life after a year so planned the turnip being thrown at him in 1980 as an excuse to quit and had a peaceful life as stubby until doris purkiss, who he had dinner with in 1981, accused him of being sirius black in the news over a decade later

In the Garden by @yeats-infection (E, 261k+, Stubby Boardman & OCs)
The trials and tribulations of the finest wizarding punk and noise bands 1982-1998, as chronicled outside the pages of Wizarding Rock Weekly. Ongoing indefinitely.
Specifically:
A Handful of Dust (E, 62k, Stubby Boardman/OC, mentioned wolfstar)
Or: the Decline and Fall of the Hobgoblins, 1983-1991. "Nothing good ever happens in a Knockturn Alley dive bar after midnight..."
I cannot think about "Mudblood Blues" without getting emotional. I never understood why people wrote band RPF until I read this fic. I think I never understood bands in general until I read this fic.
I know people avoid OC-heavy works for good reason, but, my goodness, please read this fic if you trust my taste at all. It's not "la la la having fun with my OCs." It's 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead' but with a very different tone.
This fic is so intensely thought-provoking in the world building of blood supremacy in the interwar years. I've never read a fic where these power dynamics and experiences of oppression where so well explored through characters existing way outside of the main events of the battles against Voldemort. These systems are primarily explored by how they impact intimate relationships which is so realistic for most of us. (We're not like... fighting actual battles but we are trying to navigate loving people who are part of groups we are oppressed by and which we oppress.)
Because my read was so emotional, I'm just going to quote from my comment for the last chapter for 'A Handful of Dust:'
"I'm trying to find the words for this chapter's comment, but all my words are vague ideas - "sinking," "relief," "held." This chapter feels like after a rugby match when I'd curl up, bruised and battered, with a teammate. But, like, emotionally.
As I reflect on this story, I'm literally crying cathartic tears. What a reminder of the beauty and fandom and art and fanfic."
Just read the fic and then read the whole series.
My other recs for @hprecfest here

“Black—” Moony laid a hand upon his shoulder, gentle, as though he knew exactly where the field pack had left its most painful chafing marks. “Things here don’t work on the same logic you’re used to. It ain’t personal.”
From Chapter 3 of Merry Men, newly published today!
Excited to share this new chapter, in which you'll encounter your first helicopter, a disappointing tale of bullshit, Lieutenant Riddle and the legend of Doc Dearborn.

Please share your thoughts on Regulus and Sirius having a sister :D
Happy to :D As soon as I saw your post I started writing:
-
Astrid heaved a sigh as she saw her eldest brother walking down the hallway towards her. "You had better scamper," she advised her companion. "Sirius is coming over."
Brody, a fifth year Hufflepuff, raised his eyebrows and looked over his shoulder. "Why is he looking at me like he is about to murder me where I stand?"
"That is just Sirius," Astrid said, shrugging. "That is just how he is, you know? Hardly lets me speak to anyone. Go on, you really had better go."
Brody shrugged, and pushed off the wall he was leaning against. "See you after the match tomorrow?"
Astrid grinned. "Sure. We can celebrate my house's victory."
Brody snorted. "Cute, but I doubt that."
As Brody cheerfully walked away, Sirius slammed his hand down where the boy's hand had been a moment earlier. "Who was that?"
Astrid rolled her eyes and looked down at her nails, an intentionally bored expression on her face. "It was Brody, Sirius. The Hufflepuff seeker?"
Sirius narrowed his eyes. "You looked awful cozy together."
"Did we?" Astrid asked in a faux innocent tone. "Do you think we ought to go out? I mean, if we looked so good together..."
"No!" Sirius responded immediately. "That is not what I meant."
Astrid rolled her eyes and slid off the wall elegantly. "I think I will ask him, now that you mention it. Thanks, Siri!"
"You're not serious."
Astrid giggled. "Of course not. I'm Astrid."
Sirius' aggravated expression shifted momentarily to one of weary exasperation. "Never gets old, that one."
"Unlike you, brother mine," Astrid said. "You are looking a bit worse for wear. N.E.W.T.'s taking a toll?"
"Oh shove off," Sirius said, running his hand through his hair. "And speaking of age, you are far too young to be dating!"
-
Regulus cornered Astrid in the Slytherin common room later that evening. "What is this I am hearing about you fraternizing with the enemy?" he demanded.
"Oh for heaven's sake, Regulus, he is not the enemy, he's Brody."
"I know perfectly well who he is, thank you very much. The pathetic Hufflepuff who is going to try to take the snitch out from under my nose tomorrow and then follow it up by taking my sister. The nerve of that boy!"
"If he is going to take all that from you, who is really pathetic, Regulus?" Astrid asked, smiling sweetly.
"I—you—you are not to see him again!"
"I shall see him whenever I please. You do not dictate my affairs. And you know what? I almost hope he does catch the snitch tomorrow. Perhaps I will reward his efforts."
Regulus looked aghast. With concerted effort, he drew himself up and regained his composure. "Well, we will never find out. Seeing as he does not stand a chance tomorrow."
"Brilliant. You have nothing to worry about then."
-
"I can't believe I'm doing this," Sirius muttered. "No, don't laugh, Prongs. It isn't funny."
James dissolved into another fit of giggles. "Sorry, mate, it is though. Never thought I'd see you rooting for Slytherin."
"I'm not rooting for Slytherin. I'm rooting against Hufflepuff. There's a difference."
"Remind me again why you are rooting against Hufflepuff?" Remus asked mildly.
"Their seeker," Sirius growled. "The prat is always hanging around my sister."
Remus sighed. "I wouldn't worry about Brody."
Sirius snapped his head to look over at Remus. "Who am I meant to be worried about?"
James put his hand on Sirius' shoulder and gestured out to the students gathered by the quidditch pitch. "Everyone," he said, snickering. "Your sister is hot."
"Don't give him a complex, Prongs," Remus said. "Or. More of a complex."
-
"He lost the match and I still caught them in the library after!" Regulus huffed out, pacing around the empty classroom that served as a neutral meeting ground between him and Sirius. "I thought she would realize she is above such a loser, but clearly she has lost her good sense. Your doing, I presume."
"Hey!" Sirius protested. "You were meant to properly humiliate him. Beating him by a hair is not humiliating enough. If anything, this is your fault."
Regulus scoffed. "Please. She did not develop an interest in a Hufflepuff because of my influence."
"Well it wasn't mine either! I told her to stay away from him. She doesn't listen. I think we might have to kill him."
Regulus stopped pacing and sat down in a chair. He eyed his brother thoughtfully. "Yes. Yes, I think we might."

I really love Pietas. Just one note: Michelangelo's statue of Pietà is not found in Florence but has always been in the cathedral of St. Peter in the Vatican

I just remembered that there was a woman who claimed Sirius Black was the secret identity of Stubby Boardman, lead singer of the pop group The Hobgoblins and I can't stop thinking about it.
Is there a story about this?? Please? I need it!

26. Most shippable character?
People seem pretty fond of throwing Harry into ALL sorts of pairings, so I suppose he's fairly 'shippable'. For me, though, if I'm to read a story, it must involve Sirius and/or Regulus, or I am most likely not going to care enough to carry on, so if I read a romance, it's pretty much a given one of them will be included in the main pairing. That said, though, I'm really picky about with whom they're paired, and how they're written. Wolfstar, which is arguably the most popular ship including Sirius, is my NoTP (like, to the point that, even if they're just mentioned in an aside as having been together/being together, it's enough to get me to click out of the story. I don't want to know that pairing even exists within the universe of that fic), and, as I mentioned in a previous ask, none of the popular pairings with Regulus do anything for me. Basically, while Sirius and/or Regulus romance fics are the only shippy fics I'll read, I don't think they're very 'shippable' characters to me, which leads into the second ask:
27. Least shippable character?
It's easy to say something like Grawp or Umbridge or any other boring or detestable character, but I think it is Sirius or Regulus for me because I actually give a damn about them. I will pair nigh on any character with nearly any other one simply because I don't really care all that much about them--I've not given them due consideration--and it's all a bit of a laugh, but Sirius and Regulus are my favourites, and, therefore, they deserve the best.

Funny theories:
Marlene and Sirius will sell stock photos of themselves in the muggle world.
Hermione will bond with Snape because of their mutual dislike of Marlene and will marry him. Dobby will be the maid of honor.
Stubby Boardman will hire Sirius as his body double.
Luna will be the chief of a free community and will have poly partners that will be named after stars.
Ginny will write smut stories with a pen name. Pansy Parkinson will be her biggest fan.
Cornelius Fudge will fall in love with Xeno Lovegood.
Ron will convince Harry and Ginny of creating a wizarding version of the scouts
Ahhh Ginny writing smut stories!!
Remember in MIT when Dominique was a smut writer? She got her writing skills from her auntie. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

How do you imagine a fight between Sirius and Regulus?
Thanks for the ask :D
Ok, so I'm going to start by outlining how I see each of them in arguments just in general.
Sirius:
Passionate, lots of big gestures and pacing and intensity
When he feels he's losing his footing in an argument or not getting his way, he's prone to saying hurtful, borderline cruel things
Incredibly stubborn, will likely take a 2-7 business days for him to admit that he was wrong
Confrontational af--if he has an issue with you, he will let you know, right here and right now
Can be physically intimidating; not typically violent, just vaguely threatening
Regulus:
Quiet, cool rage; lots of scornful looks and eye rolling
Willing to say the most vicious things if he thinks it will get him an advantage, does not hold back
Calculated: he plans his battles out carefully
Also stubborn, please expect 6-8 business years for an admission of wrongdoing
Avoidant, passive aggressive, tendency to shut down and give the silent treatment
When he's really mad, like really mad, he's less articulate and struggles to form coherent sentences and that infuriates him even more
That said, I think their usual fighting style often goes out the window when they're arguing with each other. Because I think Sirius can bring the explosive anger out of Regulus and Regulus can cause the smoldering under the surface anger in Sirius.
Fights between them would be absolutely savage. Brutal. A verbal bloodbath. The kind of fight that you would pay good money to see. They are also both super petty and have a lifetime of petty grievances that I imagine they pull out in every big argument they have.
"Oh this is just like the time when you went and had an allergic reaction on my eighth birthday and I didn't even get to use the [wizarding equivalent of a bouncy castle]. Everything always has to be about you, you are so selfish."
"You want to talk about selfish! Remember when I begged you to share your new [fancy magic toy] with me and you said 'not in a million lifetimes, you better not touch it'?"
"Because you destroyed my broom!"
"Oh that was ten years ago now, get over it."
"You still never apologized!"
That's how I imagine their less intense fights, the smaller arguments about minor injuries and inconveniences and annoyances. Their early childhood/early Hogwarts fights. But when they started committing to their sides in the war, the arguing changed. It was less dramatic, less of a thing you bring popcorn to, and more of a thing you bring tissues to. Watching those arguments was physically uncomfortable. They were both at their most brutal with each other and those fights never lasted long before one of them said something that would ring in both of their heads for years, something that they could never take back.

Little Miss Muggle Rock For @jilymicrofics — April 15 prompt: stage (299 words)
The crowd roared as The Hobgoblins took the stage.
The band wasted no time before they began to play, and the air was filled in no time with the sound of thumping bass and wailing guitars. And as Stubby Boardman’s voice reverberated through the microphone, every single person in the concert hall was on their feet.
Movement in her periphery caught her eye, and Lily turned to see James twisting and shaking his hips, a playful glint in his eyes as he sang along to the music at the top of his lungs. Lily giggled at the sight of his ridiculous dance moves, and a powerful surge of affection charged through her — electrifying her to her core.
James caught her eye and laughed — his hands reaching out to slip into hers.
“Dance with me, Evans!” he shouted over the music.
And so she did.
Her heart soared as they twisted and twirled together — their movements offbeat and clumsy, but exhilarating in every way. And before long, Lily was singing along too.
“I thought you hated this song,” James teased, his mouth so close she could feel his breath against her ear. “Don’t tell me little miss I-only-listen-to-Muggle-rock is actually enjoying this?”
Lily laughed loudly, twisting around to wrap her arms around her boyfriend’s neck. She lifted herself up on her tip-toes, her forehead resting against his as his arms traced a familiar path around her waist.
“I do hate it,” she said — enjoying how his eyes fluttered shut as her lips ghosted against his. “But I would listen to this song every day for the rest of my life, as long as I got to dance with you.”
James melted against her, his smile radiant in the darkened room. And when he kissed her, Lily felt like she was flying.

Can you elaborate on the Luna schizophrenia post?
Sure!
I'll start with why I think she meets the criteria for schizophrenia. The main dsm criteria for it are two or more of the following, at least one of which is 1, 2, or 3.
Delusions.
Hallucinations.
Disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence).
Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior.
Negative symptoms (i.e., diminished emotional expression or avolition).
The various creatures Luna describes could definitely be hallucinations, and that's really how they're portrayed in canon. She also says some things that could easily be delusions -- the stubby boardman thing -- but given that they seem to be encouraged by her father, we can't really know. The descriptions of her social issues and expressions could definitely fall under negative symptoms, though. So, she meets the required 2/5.
And now, the autism traits that she doesn't show:
The social impairment could definitely apply, but I don't think she meets enough of criteria B. To be diagnosed with autism, someone must meet 2/4 of:
Stereotyped or repetitive motor movements, use of objects, or speech
Insistence on sameness, inflexible adherence to routines, or ritualized patterns of verbal or nonverbal behavior
Highly restricted, fixated interests that are abnormal in intensity or focus
Hyper- or hyporeactivity to sensory input or unusual interest in sensory aspects of the environment
And, really she doesn't show any of these clearly. Her focus on magical creatures could maybe be criteria 3, but that's it. I sometimes see her walking around shoeless used as evidence of sensory issues, but in the books it's pretty clearly a reaction to them being stolen, not an aversion to wearing them.
And, admittedly, it's not that serious. We don't really see that much of her, and I definitely understand why autism is such a common headcanon. I just find it odd that schizophrenia isn't that common, and I think a big part of the reason why is the popular perceptions of the disorders.
