Mulciber has always struck Caradoc more like a feral beast than a man. He was a brutal thing, a ticking time bomb that could go off at any second if you weren’t careful, if you didn’t mind your step. He was something that needed to be gentled, but might hiss at you if you took the wrong tone. He was a Death Eater, through and through and down to the marrow. Not in the way that Caradoc was a Death Eater, half hearted and because he was following Benji to the ends of the earth. No, because Mulciber believed in it.
And Caradoc was smart enough to want to stay on his good side.
Being on Mulciber’s good side could only mean being safer, slightly less risk in the world for him and Benji to deal with in the long run. Caradoc eyed him at the bar for a moment, before he slunk over with Mulciber’s drink of choice, something he had observed long ago and memorised, the same way he had everybody elses. He slides into the barstool next to him and fixes him with a look that isn’t quite friendly, but isn’t antagonistic either.
“So. Are you here for business or pleasure, Sebastian?”

noelle and edward macdonald were not made for parenthood, and that would be okay, had they not had children. but in a wild twist of fate, sebastian and mary were born alone and raised themselves alone, together, while her parents were too busy painting a picture perfect of a family they truly did not have a hand in raising. that's how it was for the first nine and a half years of mary's mundane, ordinary life, until a knock at the door and an odd conversation with a lady claiming to be a witch had told her about hogwarts. sebastian thought she was crazy.

the first few years of her life at hogwarts mary can recall as a hazy dream - she had formed lifelong bonds and also tied herself with some interesting people, but deep down, mary had turned into a caring and compassionate girl. but while her bond was strengthening in the wizarding world, mary was also losing grip on her muggle life. her parents barely spoke to her and sebastian was struggling being alone for the first time in years, and slowly she had started to isolate herself as she tried to balance two lives.
and then she was fifteen and it felt like the world was on fire. except it was her world - and it was her brother and he was dead, and no amount of screaming or pleading would ever bring back sebastian. mary felt like it was her fault and it had taken her months until she accepted that it wasn't. sometimes she can still feel him in the rays of the sun; the cool breeze in spring.
mary definitely wasn't blind to the snide comments and remarks about her blood status over the years; it had thickened her skin and her smart retorts could snap a neck in half, but Mulciber had completely blindsided her - a false friendship mary had put her trust into, only to have woken up in the hospital wing a week later; just shy of 18, and barely able to remember anything but pain. it took her weeks just to piece together some of the night and the rest mary tries to forget - her trust and heart was broken, not for the first time. definitely not for the last.
now she's 21 and trying to figure out what to do with her life. obsessed with poisons and focused too much on her friends; there's no goal for her future and at times, it makes her insecure. and now, she's stopped screaming in her sleep. some nights. other nights mary lays awake at night, silently plotting her revenge against mulciber. that's all she cares about - his downfall against a small, fragile mudblood like her.

the mulciber family have always felt like they were just outside the top tier of pureblood socielty. always just not good enough. always a reason for them not to be classed as sacred. rather unfairly, infact. or so Sebastian has been told since a young age. his parents would try and fill him with their hopes and dreams of him marrying into one of the sacred 28 and lifting their family up to their class. and he knew even from a young age to try and not fight it. it was never on the top of his list of concerns anyway. love was always foreign to him. not that his parents were ever cruel, but they were never really around either. he spent more time alone than he ever did with his parents. and he grew used to it. the quiet. and he never truly grew out of that.
but growing up that way meant he could never bring himself to understand others emotions, if he even cared at all. in fact, he always found joy in other people's pain. and he never really knew that wasn’t a “normal” thing until he got to hogwarts and got into trouble for pushing a girl down the stairs. he had thought it was funny. but he had to sit through a long and stern conversation about why it was bad and why he should apologise. he has never once apologised for anything in his life up until that point. and though he did it reluctantly he went back to the same girl later that week and made sure she knew he was not sorry.
blood status is something he also doesn’t care much about. sure, he sees mudbloods as lesser just because he has been brought up that way. but he himself doesn’t care who anyone is outside of his circle. even to the point where he had managed to grow close to mary macdonald during his younger years at hogwarts. he had became friends with her even before he knew that she was a muggleborn. and she was the only person that has ever made him feel...warm inside? he could never quiet manage to make himself understand why he felt the way he did around her. and he always found some excuse for them to hang out in secret. but, secrets can’t stay that way for long and when his slytherin classmates learned what he was doing he was given hell for it. they accused him of being a sympathiser, a mudblood lover, weak. and the rage he felt being spoken too that way lead him to the only thing he has ever regretted in his life. harming mary was something he wished he could take back the second he had done it. the sound of laughter from the other slytherins made him feel sick and knowing he had hurt the only person that brought him joy...he hated himself for it. so much so he couldn’t bring himself to ever look at mary. and he pushed his emotions down by acting out against others until he once again found that quiet inside his head that made all his feelings go numb.
from a young age, he’s been obsessed with the unforgivable curses. and in particular the imperious curse. it fascinates him. and if he can get away with using it in a situation he will. he likes to think he has mastered that curse already. though hes always studying the dark arts to learn more.
sebastian is very much the type to act first and think later. which has gotten him into some troublesome situations but he just shrugs it off and lets someone else deal with it. aslong as he got the job done he doesn’t care much past that. and it makes it hard for him to even attempt to get along with anyone he is having to work with.

exe: they dated for a while but it ended on bad terms. could have been due to his involvement with the death eaters. or they could just have not been compatible in general.
tormentor: sebastian usually tries to ignore people as much as he can but this person just gets on his nerves so much that he can’t. the level of torment can be totally up to you and also for how long it’s been going on!
babysitter: the unlucky person that has to try and keep sebastian in check when they are out doing death eater jobs together.
childhood friend: they have been friends since they were little and there is just too much history between them to not be in each others lives. they could be on the same side or opposite sides. but there is a bond there that just won’t break and neither of them wants it too. sebastian has so few people in his life that he genuinly cares about that he needs them.

Yana Toboso's art book and butterflies
I have been playing with the idea of identifying the butterflies that are shown in Yana Toboso's recent line work booklet for a quite some time now but thought that it would be nearly impossible for me to actually find these certain butterflies. Yet, to my surprise,,,, it wasn't actually that hard and...it took me much shorter time than I would expect. (I am giving myself pretty butterfly sticker hah!)
It really was tricky at times, because, a lot of butterflies are great mimics (such as Papilio polytes mimics Pachliopta aristolochiae blah blah blah...), and there are a also many butterflies from the same genuses looking almost exactly the same. So, with that being said, it's clear I can't be really sure if I matched them all correctly...but I tried my best in doing so.

Professor Prewett made good on his threat to Sebastian Mulciber.
The Headmaster, Head of Slytherin House, and Gideon himself all stood near the entrance inside the Slytherin common room Tuesday evening – the day after the first sixth year Defence lesson – watching the students, while three Aurors searched the seventh year boys’ dormitory for dark artifacts.
Mulciber had already been escorted to the Ministry by two other Aurors for further questioning, and to have his wand checked over for Unforgivable Curses.
The tension in the common room was thick. The fear from the first and second years was subtle but still noticeable. The resentfulness coming from the older students, on the other hand, was readily apparent to anyone paying even the slightest attention.
Hermione was sitting stiffly in between Tófa and Cera, trying desperately to ignore Dolohov’s piercing gaze from the far side of the common room where he stood next to Thorfinn. He had been staring at her since the Aurors had begun their search of his, Sebastian and Thorfinn’s dormitory.
The two seventh year men stood some distance away from the other students and were undoubtedly using their age, and size in Thorfinn’s case, to intimidate any witch or wizard who dared to speak to the authorities.
The sound of the dormitory door opening, followed by the clambering of footsteps down the stairs, broke the silence.
Gideon cleared his throat. “Anything?” he asked once the three Aurors reached the main room.
A redheaded Auror, who could only be Fabian, shook his head and smirked as he held up a magazine to show his twin brother. “Just this May 1974, edition of PlayWizard–”
“Oi! That’s mine you great prude!” Thorfinn complained loudly to the Aurors. “Give it back!”

ramble about their history, the kind of person they are, alignments, go nuts, show the character some love, dump important information: born to nigerian immigrant olsani smith and bristol native helen smith, jeanie was loved by both her parents. that is until she started showing signs of magic. her devoutly christian mother panicked, terrified that her daughter had been possessed by a demon or spirit of some kind, and she went to churches in bristol, begging priests to exorcise her daughter and re-baptise her. eventually all the churches in town thought helen was crazy. the things she was describing happening around her daughter seemed like hallucinations and instead they referred to get physciatric care. it only got worse when jeanie’s younger brother alec started expressing magic, as well.
now doubly panicked, helen smith tried to baptise her children herself, resulting alec nearly drowning as she held him under the water in the tub for too long. olasani had his wife committed and he divorced her. the year after jeanie started at hogwarts, and though she’d been through a lot in her first 11 years, she was a bright and happy girl.
she was resilient, bouncing back from everything with her mother with ease, until the 22nd of november. on her way to hogsmeade a seventh year slytherin, jonas mulciber, stopped her in her tracks and spelled her wand away. he knocked her out and took her to the shrieking shack nearby and proceeded to torture her with the cruciatus curse for twelve hours straight, enjoying every second of it.
he left her, bleeding and broken, to die. he didn’t care if she did; would have actually preferred it if she had died. but, unbeknownst to almost anyone at hogwarts, remus lupin was getting ready for the full moon and going to the shrieking shack to safely transform, when he found jeanie smith there. he carried her back as far as he could, texting marlene to take her back to the infirmary.
rumours flew around the school after that night. only remus and marlene were told by her who had actually attacked her. after all, mulciber had threatened to kill people she cared about if she told anyone who had attacked her were she to survive.
on her second day in the infirmary, it was well known around the school that whoever attacked jeanie was a slytherin. later that day sebastian o'shannon, a slytherin in her year, came by with a plate of cookies, trying to make her feel better. he puts his hand on her arm and instantly she was transported back in time a thousand years, a memory of rowena ravenclaw clear as day in her mind.
after that, jeanie only grew closer to sebastian, as he was the reincarnation of salazar slytherin. he confirmed to her that she was rowena reincarnated after they stole the sorting hat, who was overjoyed to see rowena return to hogwarts, though the hat was confused that it hadn’t noticed earlier.
