Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

@archeo-starwars In-universe sources on culture and history.
@clonewarsarchives Resources & Concept Art Blog for The Clone Wars animated series.
Wookiepedia If you don't find something in here, it's probably because it doesn't exist, neither as a canon nor legends reference.
Star Wars Databank: The official Star Wars website's reference guide. All canon.
WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Star Wars Writing Resources
Tumblr media
I write a lot of Star Wars content and in this post you will find all the resources I use and great little things I've found that might help you! Enjoy and show the authors some love! May the Force be with you!
Star Wars Writing Resources provided by @nimata-beroya and this post has SO MUCH to offer if you are writing in the Star Wars universe! There are galaxy maps, calendars, holidays, date converters, media chronology (movie/game/tv show order), hyperspace travel times, several name generators, reference guides to the Jedi Order, infomration on the Clones and Mandalorians, lore, health and medicine and technology, food and drinks, languages, etc! There's a lot here!
Disabilities Exist in Star Wars by @calltomuster this is a good look into the disabilities and the culture around them in the Star Wars universe. A very helpful read with some additional sources listed!
Comprehensive Lexacon Guide for First Time SW Fic Readers by @lightasthesun Wow. What a mouthful! I cannot tell you guys how much I use this one. It's not a clock, it's a chronometer. It's not coffee, it's caf. It's not a bathroom, it's a refresher. Like I said, super helpful.
List of Battles thanks to @monako-jinn-storiesfor linking this because I never would have thought to. It links to Wookipedia but still a great piece of information.
9 Incredible Crosssections Reveal the Architecture of Star Wars by @musewrangler A great visual guide if you're looking to play with the architecture in Star Wars.
A Resource Page for all Your Clone Related Needs by @karttaylir-darasuum Everything you need to write about Clones including their weapons, cannon, terminology, stock photos, things to avoid etc.
That's all I've got for now, but if you find anything for me to add feel free to tag me and lets continue this writing resource for Star Wars Fans!

I'd like to know your opinion(s) on hyperspace travel times because the thing is, in the SW universe, (from what I've read) it takes around 8 hours for a ship with a CLASS 1 Hyperdrive to travel across one square (like J-17, L-16, etc.) but people get from here to there in less than an hour or so (maybe I'm the one who's got it all wrong).
Oh gosh 😅
In the films, tv shows, etc. the Hyperspace travel times are mostly plot-centric. Which is likely why it is rarely (if ever) outright stated. I’m positive George Lucas has no idea how long it takes to get from Point A to Point B in his galaxy that’s far, far away. I think there is also a huge discrepancy between canon material and legends material as well. Canon hyperspace travel tends to be a lot quicker (just look at how many places/how far they travelled in TROS in approx. 16hrs. It’s absurd).
I’ve included a couple of resources that I’ve used/should use below the cut.
If anyone has any recommendations for determining Hyperspace travel times, please feel free to reblog with your additions. I know that I could use all the help I can get ❤️
For my fanfic, I have used what other people have calculated in terms of travel times. I am horrible at math. (Like take every math class in high school twice and still don’t understand what’s going on, kind of horrible). I don’t trust myself to calculate it correctly.
That said, I will try to include some links and/or pics that I will be using to guesstimate Hyperspace travel times for my fic.
Here is a link to Black Cat’s Hyperspace Travel Times page. It is extremely thorough with how the calculations are broken down. I will need to sit down and really look at it, but I think it’s far beyond my capabilities. However, if it is something that is extremely important for your story, then it’s something to look at for sure!
Here’s a pic that I stole from somewhere. (I found it on Google images. But I can’t remember where from). I thought it might be good to use for guesstimations as well for some of the planets, etc.

For fun, I wanted to think through which organs Darth Maul is actually missing. This gives us clues as to which bodily processes he just doesn't have anymore, which ones he's using sith juju to make up for, and what Talzin or Death Watch might've done for him with the prosthetics. To be fair, humans have about 70 to 80 possible organs systems (don't ask), but who knows what zabrak have, and where they truly are located. We can only guess.

Long story short, besides just his legs and genitals, Maul lost most of his digestive and urinary systems.
He actually kept almost all of his life-critical organs, so whatever sith voodoo he was doing to stay alive on Lotho Minor was probably focused on fighting off sepsis (due to the unclean end points of his digestive system. Remember he got cauterized by a lightsaber so assume he had to make... new holes. There may have also been some self-done surgery to reconnect what remained of his large and small intestines.)
The loss of his testes, if he indeed had human typical location for them, could have proven a growing problem, considering that they make 90% of a man's testosterone, and that's needed just to have normal amounts of energy.
The digestive track is also a problem, as the gut microbiome is where a lot of neurochemicals are produced. For example, 95%~ of the body's seratonin is produced in the gut. Lacking huge chunks of his small and large intestine means that Maul had poor absorbtion of nutrients, and probably needed to eat all the time just to get a fraction of the calories and nutrients from his food.
So. He lived on the edge of starvation due to a truncated digestive track, had low energy, mood imbalances like you wouldn't believe, and constant sepsis. I'm sure the acid rain being the only source of fresh water was also just, so helpful.
I assume, by the lack of black veins on him afterward, and (sort of?) stable mood, that talzin might've regrown some of his gut and fixed the end point issues. Later on, Death Watch (being mandalorians) might've given him more robust life support systems that included testosterone replacement and cybernetic genitals. Seems like what they would do for their own people.
Possible lingering complications? I assume he has a VERY weird relationship with food. He had spider legs for twelve years, so bipedal motion probably fails him sometimes. Back pain. Phantom leg pain. Nerve junction issues. Immune system weirdness (from all that missing marrow, and a long stint with sepsis). Issues storing fat. Talzin yoloed his brain back to sane-adjacent, so mental health is... I mean. Yeah. Triggers. Teeth prone to chipping and cavities (from malnutrition and acid water). Possibly goes to the bathroom once a day and urinates like a race horse. Issues with being touched, myriad phobias, and a squirrelly libido.
Did I miss anything?

If I were to write a Star Wars fic (which I won’t, as working full-time does not leave me with enough mental energy to be properly actively fannish), it’d be an epic AU where Obi-Wan also falls down the shaft at the climax of his fight with Maul, is presumed dead, and then pops up during the Clone Wars as a mysterious agent of chaos whose initial goal is just to rattle and provoke the Jedi into shedding at least a bit of their apathy disguised as serenity and their superiority complex (so, Obi-Wan choosing to help an entire planet of children caught in a horrific war was bad and aggressive, deserving of first repudiation and then probation, but when Knights and Masters order enslaved sentients into battle it’s duty and necessary to uphold the values of the Republic and thus Order?). He’s bitter, he’s angry, and he wants to destroy the Order. Well, the Order as it is. All talk, so little regard for actual decency, and no infrastructure in place to protect the children under their care.
There’d be a semi-humorous scene where Cody (who is... compromised, okay, he knows it, but this evil fallen force user is just different from the other evil fallen force users, okay) comes across Obi-Wan, bleeding from a fresh gash on his head (”What happened to you? - Oh, nothing, dear one; I just tripped.”) one eye clenched shut where the blood is dribbling down, yada yada, they do their usual song and dance about no, you question your allegiance and join my side, and then.
What’s that?
Cody bends down and picks up the thing that’s caught his attention. It’s round, and not quite flat, and ye--- yellow. He narrows his eyes at the infuriating pain in the ass in front of him.
“Tripped, huh? Deliberately, I assume?”
The man’s gaze flits down to the coloured lens balancing on Cody’s finger now, the exact same shade as his one open eye.
“When you arrived, the light of your presence overwhelmed me and caused me to falter. It can be quite challenging when one has delved as far into the dark as I have,” the fucker tries to lie to Cody’s face, voice as serene as the calmest of Jedi Generals fresh out of meditation, and maybe Cody needs to reconsider how trustworthy anything spoken in that tone really is.
Cody throws the lens at him, and the offending item manages to land on his chest, where blood has soaked into the shirt, and sticks to the fabric, staring at him accusingly.
“What kind of nerf-brained idiot fakes being a Sith? The entire Order is after you!”
The nerf-brain winces, then sighs and droops. He rubs a hand through his suddenly tired-looking face. The blood from his apparently actually self-inflicted head-wound that was meant to disguise the missing lens is smeared all over his cheek now, which looks ridiculous and is somewhat worrisome because Cody is used to bloodshed and knows that it’s usually not a good sign when people forget that they are bleeding. It does match the bone-deep exhaustion etched in the other man’s features, though, now that his mask of flirtatious nonchalance has dropped.
“In my defence, I honestly did not expect it to go this far.” He spreads his hands and pulls a somewhat forced-looking version of his usual boyish grin. “I assumed I would get in two, maybe three strikes before the Order went on alert and I got caught. When they didn’t, I decided to... provide further motivation.”
His right eye is grey-blue, as fathomlessly deep as the waters of Kamino, and Cody wonders what can drive a man to pretend to be evil incarnate to catch the attention of an organisation of essentially super-powered sentients in the middle of a war.
Another trickle of blood from the absolutely needless head wound snakes its way down the side of the man’s face, making it clear that, whatever his motivation might be it’s not a healthy sense of self-preservation.
Maybe Cody can get him to take out the other lens, too, so he can check his eyes for signs of a concussion.
And get a closer look at the colour.
...At least now he’s not compromised by a Sith anymore?

Even if we take thrawn's claim that he's trying to protect his people at face value (personally I don't buy it, the so called "threat" of the grysk seems really exaggerated, I'll bet that thrawn's either playing up how dangerous they are and/or they're simply a local threat, dangerous to a regional power like the chiss sure, but to the whole galaxy? No), that does not make him a good person doing bad things for a good reason, morally grey, etc etc whatever
Because it doesn't matter
His alleged care (which never pops up in real canon) has lead him to support the empire, to keep it alive, to make it work
One way or another, thrawn is responsible (he's a grand admiral for crying out loud, he's pretty high up) for the atrocities the empire committed
How many billions were oppressed, suffered, and died under the empire because thrawn helped it?
I'll bet it's many more people than there are chiss
And that's a thing SW has always been clear about, sacrificing many to save a few is wrong, its bad, it's selfish, it is the dark side
Maybe thrawn had good intentions ("had" being the operative word there), but we know what road is paved with those

Truly amazing to me how people bagged on Avatar for having 'no fandom' for years and yet when i write two fics in the week after i saw the film they get a higher engagment than any other work ever has. it's been an incredibly nice experiance
link here to the series for the curious link
#avatar the way of water#Avatar 2#Avatar#Avatar (2009)#Avatar 2009#big tag rant im very sorry#Also anytime people use Ao3 as a metric for pre superwholock fandom engagement for nonserialised properties it does raise my hackles#bc there was like 1000 fics of avatar on FFdot net last i checked and they dont count crossovers in the main entry#i rember 2010-11 fandom it was mostly on ffdotnet if you weren't writing slash or hard smut#and it's mean to be like 'hurdur no impact 300 fics' like dude that's not a measure of anything but how many fics it means NOTHING#the movie was good but missing those ~family bonding~ moments the im obsessed with#so i wrote a bunch of fic in a feuge state and they both have over 100 kudos and a bunch of comments#i didn't get that in star wars fandom#the whole avatar fandom as it exists seems pretty chill and nice so idk don be mean to them#(also the fan maintained lore resources are pretty comprehensive which is really nice and helpful for fic writing)#the only cross promo i did for them was linking them on my twitter which is basically a dying platform#and i've still gotten a bunch of engagment#now i do conceptually hate the idea of engagment as a metric of quality#but it's nice to be seen-heh#also its a movie i could casually mention at christmas and say i enjoyed it and not be treated like a pretenious weirdo#which to be fair i am#but sometimes it is enough to be in the cinema with 3d glasses over my normal glasses to watch a movie and just enjoy it#i have lots of feelings clearly

Sometimes I wonder what is too much when writing fanfic. But I love small details, and I want to get facts straight if possible. (Ok, fanfic was just an excellent excuse to buy more books, because you never have enough books or SW thingies.) For coming chapters I used a good time reminding myself about both EMP protection methods, and browsing the stages, symptoms and treatment of hypothermia... :D Funny thing is, that something might be only a very short mention in the fic, but I want it to be correct in my head.
Well, as long as it is fun, it is good.
...And I get to buy moar books. That's good too.
