Jaune Arc fell into ice. That's the last thing he remembered. Now he's in a strange grove with spirits watching him all the time.... He thinks they might be broken.
Team RWBY are faunas researchers who've found the discovery of the century. A human man still alive in ice. It's a contested theory that ancient humans eventually evolved into faunas and with a member of the previously thought extinct species they might just be able to prove it. Now how to get closer to him
(tldr stone age jaune dealing with modern day faunas RWBY being horny on main for him. The spirits must be crazy)
Last Man Standing
The last thing Jaune remembered that cold winter evening was sulking across the ice to get away from his cheating ex-girlfriend. What was supposed to be a romantic night of welcoming in the new year instead became the worst heartbreak of his life, made worse when she called him out as a spineless nobody that no woman would ever want. She also said his hair looked shaggy, which didn't hurt as much as the betrayal itself, but it still stung.
Then everything got fast. Then everything got cold. And then everything got dark.
When he awoke, he took a deep breath through his nose, inhaling a sweet scent of strawberries. His eyes still shut; he leaned forward to get closer to the smell. This earned him a yelp, a slap, and a scream. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw a girl in a red hood running around the corner. Did she have dog ears?
"Where..." Jaune groaned as he leaned forward, noticing the hot air blowing over him. Though he was still partially frozen in ice, he managed to push his way through the, at best, hard slush of his cocoon. He looked down to see his clothes were soaked. "Ah, man..."
"I'm telling you, Weiss, I know what I saw!"
"Ruby Rose, the specimen has been frozen for at least a thousand years! Even if he did manage to thaw out, he wouldn't... be..."
The two young women stared at Jaune as he twisted his hoodie like a used dishrag, water spilling onto the floor. He turned and saw them, his eyes nearly as wide as theirs as they stared at one another.
For Jaune, he'd never seen anyone like them before! It was like something out of an anime. Two beautiful girls, one with pointed, dog-like ears, while the other had a long and bushy tail twitched back and forth. For them-
"CODE GRAY!" Screamed the tailed girl. She then rushed out of the room, dragging the other girl behind her. The dog-eared one glanced back with sort of sad eyes. None of it sounded good to Jaune, and considering the wailing sirens and flashing lights, he had to get out of wherever he is and fast!
Tossing on his still damp shirt, he made for the exit, accidentally knocking over a poor girl with rabbit ears. He gave a hasty apology as he continued to bolt down the hallway. Unfortunately, this caught more people's attention, and eventually a woman came barreling after him, hand on her beret to keep from flying off her small, round ears. He couldn't see much of her eyes past her designer shades, but what he could see spelled death.
"Incoming!" Jaune looked ahead, flipping backwards as his neck slammed into an extended arm. He gave a hoarse groan as he looked up to see three women towering over him. One was the same woman as before with round ears poking from her beret, the cute appearance contrasting with her snarling scowl. Another had gave a cheeky grin as she leaned forward a bit, showing off her cleavage to her catch, all the while a long, blonde tail swished about.
But the third and final woman gave no hint of any sort of emotion. Neither anger nor joy, but simple indifference. She reached behind her and pulled out a pair of handcuffs, tethered by a thick cable with glowing blue lights that ceased and revealed an opening with the click of a button. Her pointed, red dog-like ears made her look all the more intimidating.
"You're under arrest."

For those who see this or are even remotely think this is interesting in any way I had a random idea for an Dadpin AU that popped into my head late last night and as thanks to @roosterteethloverwritingblog for discussing things with me and helping me out with ideas I decided to write out my my thought process
Beast AU
(I may change that later if someone else has a better name to call them)
Basically the plot is not much different from canon. Except with one key thing. Instead of Faunus’, every human has an animal companion deeply bound to them emotionally and physically. Basically the concept of His Dark Materials/The Golden Compass but not really set in that universe.
The concept I have is that animal companions or Beast wouldn’t come about until after the Gods thanos snapped the world. And I’m the aftermath of that instead of the GoD leaving Faunus, he leaves animal companions instead.
Team RWBY:
Ruby: Red Panda Bear, named Rooi.
Weiss: White Peacock named Anais.
Blake: Black Panther named Aarav.
Yang: Grizzly Bear named Bali
Team JPNR:
Jaune: Gold Retriever named Etel.
Pyrrha: Eurasian Eagle Owl named Adira.
Nora: Honey Badger named Bayo.
Ren: Rough Green Snake named Aalin
Now we get into my favorite part of the reason I came up with this Au; the Ozma’s.
So originally I was just going to have Oscar be the only Oscar be the odd one out and have him not have a Beast, making him an outcast amongst his peers and then after Oz dies at the fall of Beacon BOOM, the kid suddenly gets one in the form of the old headmaster of beacon.
But my conversation with @roosterteethloverwritingblog lead me to really think about it and I decided to have that concept but add that it was just part of the curse that was bestowed on Ozma.
Each Oz reincarnation is instead of being placed into the mind of the next host. Is instead given a different connection entirely. One where the next Oz whomever it maybe, can still be themselves. No longer fearing a merge. Instead given a companion for life whom their connection only grows with each life time.
Each reincarnation it varies with each life time when they get their companion. Some got them right away. While others had to wait for the previous Oz’s soul to catch up and would sometimes be late.
When the GoL brings Ozma back he reincarnates into the form of a medium sized dragon and he is bounded to Omar (Ozma 2.0)
Then when Omar is killed he is reincarnated into a White Barn Owl and is bonded to Ozias (old dude)
Ozias (old dude) is reincarnated into a White Capuchin Monkey and is then bonded with Oren (Dude with Hat)
Oren (Dude with Hat) is reincarnated into a Brown Koala Bear and is bonded to Ostin (Dude with Glasses)
Ostin (Dude with Glasses) is reincarnated into a brown Kodiak Bear and is bonded to Orion (Dude with Blue eyes)
Orion (The Inquisitor) is reincarnated into a Brown Red Tailed Hawk and bonded to The Hermit (The Wizard)
The Hermit (The Wizard) is reincarnated into white Scottish Terrier and bonded with Ozymandias (King of Vale)
Ozymandias (King of Vale) @immortal-green-snom will get a kick out of this is reincarnated into a brown Flying Squirrel (and is mad about it) and is bonded to Ozpin (Headmaster of Beacon)
Ozpin (Headmaster of Beacon) after his death is reincarnated into a white Lynx and is bonded heavily to Oscar
Almost every person in Remnant loves and adores their Beasts, they are born with them, they are their other halves but the Oz’s? Their bond and loves is deeper then that because it goes back centuries. And with every new life time the connection and love only gets stronger.
Which we now go to Oscar.
Whom was heavily bullied by kids his age and older for not having a Beast. So one night when he was fast asleep while the Fall of Beacon was happening miles away.
He dreamt, dreamt that someone needed his help, he reached out and pulled, gasped a hold of the person whom needed him and instantly connection was formed, and seemed to burn his body in doing so.
And then he woke with a jolt and found a White Lynx curled on his side. Sleeping just as peacefully as he had been. The Lynx blinked his eyes open and smiled at him, “Hello Oscar. I’m— or I was Professor Ozpin”
Oscar is torn at first. He doesn’t know if he should be confused or happy about finally getting his Beast.
Ozpin is immediately protective of Oscar, as all incarcerations often are the moment the connection happens. For he sees the boys memories and knows the torture he went through not having Beast.
Something that he himself knew all too well. Having only gained Mandias when he was around 16 years old.
Plus he figured that it also had something to do with the animal that he turned into since cats were protective of their young and very territorial.
But Oscar doesn’t mind, he loves the attention because he’s felt so isolated and alone after being bullied for not having a Beast until now
Like he clings to Oz both physically and mentally as one all do with their Beasts
Oscar needs an emotional support animal and Oz is ready and willing to be exactly that for him.
That’s all I have for right now, still working everything out.

Hello you beautiful people of Tumblr! Wyn here with another chapter of the Red Reaper and the White Princess! At this point, I had a good working idea of the plot I was developing, and decided to start with Oobleck's class as the official derailment of canon. I hope everyone enjoys!

Dr. Oobleck's Class
Weiss smiles as she chats with Ruby, who met her at the front of the building housing Doctor Oobleck’s class and walked in with her. And thankfully, Ruby was sitting between her and the blonde brute who somehow understands her heart better than she herself does. Which is distressing, but not something she can afford to worry about for now. Right now, she has to bring her grade up in Oobleck’s class, so she cannot afford any more distractions.
Distractions like a pair of quicksilver eyes that can see into her soul. So long as they can’t see the ugliness and hideousness hidden there, she can afford to bask occasionally.
But her poolgazing comes to an end as Oobleck zooms into the classroom in his usual over caffeinated state, getting more than one groan from the students as he plunges into today’s lesson about the Faunus War. She works diligently of course, as expected of a proper Schnee as her father expects her to be of course. But why?
Her ears twitch as Oobleck catches her attention. "Yes! Yes, prior to the Faunus Rights Revolution, more popularly known as the Faunus War." Weiss watches dispassionately as he zooms behind his desk and uses a pointer on his map of the world, not flinching as it makes an audible smack on the laminated paper loud enough to make Ruby and the other faunus present flinch.
But all Weiss can hear is her father’s voice in another one of his rages. A Schnee does not flinch! A Schnee never allows themselves to show surprise!
"Humankind was quite, quite adamant about centralizing the Faunus population in Menagerie." He continues as he drags the pointer downward on the laminate, causing all the faunus to whimper and squirm in their seats, as well as finally waking Diane Brunneis from team MADM up from a rather impressive nap. The tall Squirrel faunus girl grumbles as her partner and teammate Aqua Burrell shushes her quickly. She absentmindedly listens to Oobleck apologize to all of them even as he also gives the brutal tank a detention for sleeping in his class. But Weiss’s thoughts aren’t even there anymore. They are far away in her Father’s study back in Atlas.
Animals like you and your siblings need to learn your places! I shall not tolerate your insolence like I tolerated Willow’s for so long! Jacques Schnee’s voice continues to haunt her despite her best efforts to focus. She may have been a brilliant summoner and a better fighter than you, but in the end, I dealt with your twin like the mongrel that she was! And she learned her place after the beating she took!
"Now! While this must feel like ancient history to many of you, it is imperative to remember that these are relatively recent events! Why, the repercussions of the uprising can still be seen to this day!" Weiss barely follows him as he zooms around the class, waking sleeping students up with pokes and prods between sips from his prodigious cup of coffee. She barely makes out Jaune’s muffled curses, or Dove Bronzewing’s indignant cry when his feet are shoved to the floor. All she can think of is the second worst day of her life. The day her twin sister Willow ran away.
“Willow! Please! You can’t leave me here alone with him!” Weiss yells at her twin, who is making her way slowly out of the manor. But she gasps as she sees the black ribbon tied around her eyes.
“I can’t Weiss. I can’t do this anymore!” Willow cries out to her. “He blinded me Weiss! All because he could no longer stand to see the truth within my eyes! The truth that he is a pretender to the throne! A fraud! And I cannot pay too many more prices!” Weiss sobs as she reaches for a sister that seems to be moving steadily farther and farther away from her. But her final words still ring in her wolf’s ears as if they were freshly spoken.
“I am always but a thought away sister. We are still two sides of the same coin. And that is something that man cannot ever take from us.”
"Now!” Oobleck declares as he finishes his sweep of the classroom. “Have any among you been subjugated or discriminated against because of your Faunus heritage?"
Have I been discriminated against?
Diane and Aqua both raise their hands in the back….
Have I been subjugated?
First Velvet, then Ruby slowly raise their hands as the brute growls softly and mutters angrily about narrow minded idiots.
Dr. Oobleck sighs. "Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence!" He comments as he takes yet another sip of his coffee.
Violence? Does abuse count as violence? Do all these things mean….
The silence in the classroom is so complete, so total as everyone stares at Weiss Schnee, the Heiress of the world’s most powerful corporation and arguably the richest person to ever step foot in Beacon, as she slowly raises her hand.
“My twin sister and I have suffered greatly because we are faunus….”
