So... I reached the epilogue party and I have STRONG opinions about what happened in the end. I sacrificed myself turning into a Mind Flyer and destroyed the Absolute. I gave my friends the best endings possible: Wyll, at peace with his father and freed from Mizora, went to Avernus with Karlach, who didn't die and found a way to fix the engine. Gale was freed from the orb, Lae'zel and Orpheus went on their journey to save their people, Astarion got rid of Cazador, Halsin got my help to remove the shadow curse and Shadowheart found out about her true self, rejecting Shar. Everyone I helped during the game wrote me letters to thank me and that was cute. But what did I actually got from all of them?

Astarion: said that he needed time to metabolize the transformation and friendzoned me. Well, ok, let's wait like I did with him. At the party, he asked me if I was still myself. Wtf!? He wasn't rude then and was sorry for what happened to me but..No hugs were offered, despite being my romanced character and he seemed to have decided that I was no longer "lover material". I was distraught as hell.

Lae'zel and Orpheus: weren't physically there but thanked me and swore to remember my deeds. Nice, I can forgive the no hug option.

Wyll: no hug option, just a dialogue about how he's faring in Avernus with Karlach. Meh.

Karlach: happy to see me but immediately commented on my appearance. I can let it slide. Hug option but only if you don't ask her other things. Meh.

Gale: kept making jokes about mind flayers and commented how he was happy to be still himself instead of a damn brain sucker.....pretty insensitive, even though he apologised.

Shadowheart and Halsin: They commented on how much they missed me and offered hugs with no limits. Halsin made me a wooden duck. I hugged them like 4 times each. Best reactions.

Owlbear and Scratch: they recognised me and showed no changes in their demeanour despite my appearance. As always, animals are better than people.

So during our adventure I accepted a blood sucker, two time bombs, a religious fanatic, a brainwashed warrior, a man linked to a Devil and a horny bear dude, but they can't accept ME with a Squid-face? If I were there as my real life self, I would have probably burst into tears and walked away from that farce of a party.

I ended up putting everyone's happiness before mine and what I got in return was getting ostracized. Even in a video game, I still make my real life mistakes. That hurts.😔

Splatbands Idol AU Part 1 - Ichiya and Namida as The Squid Sisters

Thought I’d finalize my designs for this idea (it’s not really an “AU” despite the title bc the designs are kinda the main focus) where the main bands and idols for each game swap roles. So OTH are Wet Floor, Deep Cut are C-Side, and ofc, the Squid Sisters are Squid Squad. Ichiya and Namida specifically, since I like to think of them as a duo and their colors even fit Splatoon’s main colors of blue and orange!

feat. some kinda lazy art bc I don’t rlly wanna do lineart esp since I’m gonna have to draw the other two groups as well lol. Pretty happy with their designs tho, I think I fused them well.

Even tho this concept is mostly focused on the band characters, this does mean that the idols take their place as well (along with the other band members, so the main band of Splatoon 1 is now Callie, Marie, Ikkan and Murasaki). It gets kinda confusing if you think too hard about it (esp for OTH lol) so we’re just not gonna do that. It’s mostly so I can draw the band characters in cute outfits lol

Anyway Meet Squid Squad! Here to bring news, music, and splatfests to a plaza near you.

The Squid Sisters have a decent amount of story, and although I’m already said in going to worry too much about that, it is pretty easy to merge the squid sisters and squid squad’s stories together, so why not? Instead of growing apart in Splatoon 2 they full on break up, but then get back together and instead start to use pseudonyms (Agent 001 and 002). Guess that means Ikkan and Callie are chill but just distant.

Their personalities are the same tho. Ichiya is still an asshole in Splatoon 1 lol. Maybe not really on the news, but you can see it in Octo Valley for sure. And then I bet He’s nicer in Splatoon 3 but his first reaction to C-Side is definitely not “I love them”

As for Namida, she’s a lil less smug than Marie, but she’s still the more sarcastic of the two, both on camera and off. She’s a little relieved that Agent 4 never heard of Squid Squad and feels weird about being called “boss” all the time.

They both play their instruments on stage during splatfests along with singing, kinda like Marina in We’re So Back. All their songs minus Calamari Inkantation are Squid Squad songs with a more pop-like tinge. (Ikkan left bc he didn’t like all the pop Callie was writing lol).

oh yea and have to mention they probably are agents but they’re not related idk how they’d know captain cuttlefish. Or maybe captain cuttlefish is someone entirely different! Who knows!

Once again this is more of a fun concept than a fully fledged AU. None of these confusing or vague things are gonna get concrete explanations, I just like speculating abt this type of thing.

So I’ve kinda been thinking (COTL post btw I’ll get back on some DSAF stuff soon). Spoilers for post game.

Purgatory is kinda underutilized in fics.

The bishops have spent who knows how long reliving their deaths on repeat and each seems to kinda have different feelings about this judging from their purgatory pre battle dialogue.

Leshy repeats his initial dialogue from the original fight, but at the end seems to have something of a cry for help with “end this” implying he does indeed find the experience to be hellish. It feels like a plea for any kind of mercy, not as blatant as Kallamar sure but just as poignant. Leshy is suffering BADLY, bad enough that he’s begging for an end to it. The fact he repeats the original dialogue too is also interesting because of this. The whole thing feels very… defeated. It makes sense, he’s been here the longest in most playthroughs. He’s accepted he can’t fight his way out and has resigned to fighting, but still begs for freedom.

Heket is seemingly angry about this and seems to be venting her anger through what is currently her only outlet, killing the lamb repeatedly, which she may or may not be finding more success in than the others as she seems to be less damaged implying she’s been dying less than she’s been killing. Time in a hellish purgatory may have in fact strengthened her resolve to fight. Though I’d say it feels like a temporary resolve, something of a desperate grab to take power of this situation, eventually things will change and she’ll end up in a much similar place to the others.

Kallamar’s dialogue is what is to be expected from the so called “scardy squid”, he begs us to stay back and not hurt him. This is probably the most clear cut display of the effects of purgatory being that he’s seemingly just more scared of us and in a lot of pain. Kallamar I find to be interesting because I’m getting the impression that while other siblings MAY be coaxed to deviate from the norm (maybe not Shamura as they seem pretty ok with this), Kallamar seems the most likely. I can see Kallamar trying to escape the lamb rather than confront them, while others may do this for Kal it feels very likely he not only has done this, but has done it a lot, never succeeding and resolving to just beg for mercy. While Leshy isn’t directly talking to the player Kal says “red crown” meaning there’s no greater force or anything he’s begging to, he’s ONLY begging to us.

Shamura’s dialogue here is very interesting. It feels like they are very resolved to their fate of repeating this eternally and not only don’t care to escape it, but see this fate as a deserved punishment. For Narinder, crimes as a bishop, the lamb genocide, or all of the above we can’t quite say, I’d say probably a mix of all. Regardless, Shamura seems to be in a state of acceptance of this being the rest of their eternity. Their dialoge also implies a Sisyphus situation of “drawing semblance of life” from routine in a known situation where everything is the same. I’m not sure I’d say they are CONTENT like this, but they’re definitely accepting and the fact they seem to think they deserve eternal purgatory hell seems to definitely be part of this.

I feel like all 4 reactions are interesting thematically. Leshy’s feelings of defeat, Heket’s struggle for control, Kallamar’s utter terror and desperation, and Shamura’s passive acceptance.

However I don’t see a lot of people talking about this in fact a lot of fics seem to say the bishops don’t even remember purgatory which is interesting in itself but personally I’d definitely touch on the fact they each had their own individual somewhat breakdowns of their character, and the affect this would have on their minds going forward, especially on their views of themselves, the lamb who was somewhat the vessel for their torture and their behaviour in general. Would they gain new responses? Would certain things like specific weapons trigger memories of their time in purgatory? Would they dream about it?

Just so much cool fuckin shit to explore! I might sometime if any of my DSaF followers stuck it out for this you KNOW I love angst.

- as the drivers/golfers walk onto the course a woman and a man are apprehended (by one of the hosts(?)) as they are waving posters and screaming something. lando was unbothered by this.

Congrats on finding your white whale. I'm excited to see what comes next from either sharing, or keeping it to yourself.

This fic is definitely one of those pillar fics that created this reaction that we can still see the repercussions of today. And the negative attention the author received in wake of the fic was not something that they deserved. I must admit I am curious to see what that fic actually holds because I stayed away from that side of the mcyt fandom at the time because of personal reasons

Whatever decision is made with the fate of the fic, I will fully understand and support it. Knowing that the fic still exists in its entirety is enough for me.

But also. Were you around at the time of the fics original publication? And how much did the reactions to this fic actually set a tone for the rest of the fandoms interactions with content creators?

I was not! I was a lurker - for personal reasons I was inactive on social media from around 2017 to 2020, if I'm remembering correctly. However, I have done an absurd amount of research into MCYT fandom history to the point of digging through thousands of old SMPtwt tweets, since I'm very autistic about SMPLive and MCYT as a whole.

SMPRonpa directly led to the creation of the blog smp-boundaries, as it was singled out and used as an example of inappropriate fan content by CallMeCarson in his stream "Let's address fan culture", which was the reason the blog was made. Said blog would continue to be updated into the early Dream SMP period and is still cited today despite being filled with misinformation. SMPRonpa is frequently referenced as an example of "what not to do" by other fans - I remember Among Us and Squid Game AUs being heavily criticized with this "remember SMPRonpa" narrative.

Creators didn't really care about it besides Carson, and plenty of them were openly positive towards it! SMPtwt also for the most part loved it, while SMPblr considered it gross and inappropriate. Because of how Carson talked about the fic, people now have the incorrect belief that a majority of creators involved were super uncomfortable with it - when that isn't the case at all - you had them actively replying to the creator and discussing the fic with fans, cracking jokes about their in-fic deaths and kills, it even ended up with Poke playing Danganronpa which you can still watch on his channel!

It's a very odd piece of fandom history to me that goes to show the damage you can do to your community by interfering with and publicly shaming fan content you don't like. I feel like the community around SMPLive seemed way more friendly with their creators before the stream, and it never really was the same after that, unfortunately.

You also have to think about Carson being later stated to be manipulative and at times downright abusive to his friends, especially the three he lived with in 2019-2020 (Noah, Cooper, and Travis - Noah's talked about it in length in an interview that's up on YouTube somewhere) - I feel like this is an important detail to consider given how his concerns were made into "all of our concerns" in the stream. Creators besides Carson were largely uncomfortable moreso by the stan culture surrounding them rather than any individual fan works, at least from everything I've publicly seen.

Thinking about a lot of the agent 4 angst being between them and 8 (no issue ofc idc) but I have not seen one thing about how Marie would feel

This kid literally pulled her out of the gutter (exaggerating) and she was so emotionally attached that not even in a week she was spilling out words of gratitude and (platonic.) affection and acts of service (inviting them to a concert w/ backstage access) and literally treating 4 like her best friend (which they kinda are but I talked abt that already) and all these wonderful things and 4 is probably still in her life somehow and then like… she has no reaction to 4 going missing?

Considering that this is the 2nd OTH storyline marie most likely won’t be involved and that’d fucking suck if they built up all this shit in splat 2 just to essentially retcon it and go “oh yeah marie and 4? Forgettaboutit!” Because it would be the Perfect away to give more character to Marie and ESPECIALLY callie but it’s not their place (oth storyline) to be involved so it wouldn’t make any sort of sense if 4 was randomly infected or turned evil or something because it would imply that Marie just didn’t CARE.

HOWEVER. Marie and 4 would be the perfect combination for side order angst if such a thing were to happen (which id rather not in any case) because imagine this person you care for and love so deeply that’s done so so so much for you turning into an Obstacle. A mindless, and both emotionally and physically obstructive hurdle that you have to clear to complete the mission. Could you imagine how Marie would feel? What she would think? How much she would blame herself? How little she could do to save them? Think. That’s the kind of evil 4 I’d want. A tragic and extremely painful thing you have to get rid of because it is no longer your beloved, it is a giant, overbearingly powerful wall you have to break through. (Especially considering that 4 is the most skilled agent combat wise…) imagine the 4 boss fight is just unbelievably difficult and straining that it takes tons and tons of attempts to the point where you question whether you’re playing squid game or sekiro with every difficulty option turned all the way up

Can I request the dorm leaders + Rook and Floyd reaction when mc/Yuu turns into a goose? I was thinking something like mc/Yuu turned into a goose from a potion class accident, and they act like the goose from Untitled Goose Game, but cuddlier. Like they are still a little menace, but also want to be pet and cuddled. Idk just have had this idea for a while but don’t really write fics or headcannons.

If you don’t want to do this request I completely understand as it is a bit odd. I hope you have a great day/night!

Sypnopsis - how the Twst dorm leaders + Rook and Floyd would act if Y/n became a goose.

Warnings - destruction of property, miscommunication, swan favoritism, not fully edited (I'm writing this late at night)

A/n - this was so adorable poor Twst boys having to deal with y/n lol!

Leona

Would not stop making fun of you. How could you be so stupid as to mistake that potion for your water? Now you're a goose for 24 hours. He can not stop cracking up as Crewel removes him from class. He’s given the assignment to take care of you. Animals other than beastmen aren’t normal around campus someone like Ruggie might just try to cook you up.

After he tells you this you honk in fear trailing behind him. “Let’s go to your dorm some beastmen might smell you and try to dig in,” he laughs. You bite his tail in retaliation and he slaps you with it knocking your small body on the ground. “Sorry, I didn’t realize how fragile geese are.” He picked you up by the wing to examine you.

Your hair was still the same color and despite having no human features he could still see your scowl. “Cute as always he chuckled.

Riddle

Was awe-struck as Ace and Deuce told him the story. But he was even more awestruck at your behavior. Dating him meant following the rules but your new form brought out a new you. One that terrorized anyone in the rose garden. Your behavior of biting, honking, and chasing members away caught his attention.

“What is the meaning of this behavior,” he yelled. You honked back running away from him. He followed you as you shifted through bushes to your usual hangout spot. “Oh I see you just wanted to lead me here,” he grinned.

“Even in goose form, you’re the same.”

Vil

Would come home to find his dorm room a mess. Most of his makeup was half opened and he almost died in that spot seeing his flower knows collection spattered about. “Who would do something like this,” he gasped.

He turned to see you hiding in a corner of his bed behind his weight. He picked you up by your legs dangling you upside down. You honked at him so loudly that the hair blew away from his face.

“What’s the problem spudling you keep wailing about?” You honked turning your head to his nightstand. Vil looked dropping you on his bed. “I do makeup,” he stuttered. “Oh, you want to do my makeup?”

“You still have your priorities straight even in goose form I see.”

Azul

“You’re staying in here until you can stop harassing my customers.” Azul slammed the door to his office locking you in. The mostro lounge was an absolute mess and as much as he loved your presence normally you oh were now bad for business.

Jade and Floyd had to chase you and you were an expert at hopping over tables and into customers food. Such a wide variety was in your hands you ate squid and caviar. It was yummy until they finally caught you. “You’re lucky we don’t cook you up geese meat is hard to come by,” Azul smirked.

You wailed around trying to escape his grasp but he ultimately caught you. Now you waited in his office hopping and flying off his desk. “I’m back.” He came in his office kicking off his shoes and sitting in his office chair exhausted as usual.

You honked as quietly as possible trying to get his attention before you flew into his lap. Your head settled on your body as you relaxed.

“You still want to sit in my lap even in goose form? God you helpless,” he huffed.

Kalim

Would be understanding. Animals and him just clicked he shared no blood with beastmen yet they were always friendly to him. People side-eyed the both of you running along Scarabia’s open architecture.

You played the iconic game of duck duck goose. This new form wasn’t anywhere as limiting as you thought. Your boyfriend took good care of you bringing you were ever you requested and feeding you bird food they already had on hand.

At the end of the day, you honked happily snuggling with him. “Aww was that a I love you,” he asked.

Rook

The day with him would be a content one. He kept you in his room hidden away from Vil and others that may be upset with you there. Geese aren’t exactly a form of beauty they aren’t white and pure like swan. But Rook didn’t care to him you were the most beautiful bird to grace the planet.

That's why he watched you like the huntsman he was. He noted how your mannerisms stayed the same. Your head moved although you were rolling your eyes as he whispered sweet nothings to you. And you plopped down on his chest like normal.

“I’m sure you’d be beautiful even as a frog darling. But I don’t think that can compare to this form.”

Floyd

This would be the best day of his life. He just couldn’t stay bored while dating you. Now instead of his lil Shrimpy you’re a goose. One that looked dangerously small in his large hands.

He was tasked with watching you meaning you had to go with practice and work with him. You tried your best to sit on the sidelines but people were quick to almost trample over you. So you bit their legs. Eventually, the others protested over your presence and agreed to kick you out.

You honked them out and flipped them off with your imaginary hand. “Y’all heard them,” Floyd chuckles. Obviously, he wouldn’t be able to bring you to work. That was boring anyway he had better ideas.

“How about we test your swimming skills, lil ducky?” You honked instantly trying to escape his arms.

Idia

Would be in full-on panic mode. You an animal near his thousand-dollar equipment. You could kiss that dream goodbye. Ramshackle would be your habitat. He dropped you off there saying he had a 1v1 to handle with a sweat. He rushed back quickly not noticing you wailing behind him.

Soon he was in Ignihyde preparing for his match. “Ortho prepare your applause,” he snickered. He turned to look at his doorway expecting his brother but no you were there tiny in fracture but bold enough to disturb his peace.

“Ahhh how are you even more annoying as a peaceful animal troublemaker,” he sighed.

„WHO?“

„MR BEAST (born May 7, 1998), more commonly known as MrBeast, is an American YouTuber. He is known for his expensive stunts and philanthropy.[1] He is the second most subscribed creator, on youtube, second only to T-Series. He has been seen as the creator of a new genre of YouTube videos that are expensive stunts.[2]“ Omega said this as if she‘d learned this information like a poem. She probably did.

Everyone turned around to the man they just rescued from Jabba‘s slimey grasp. He gave them a small smile and said: „Hey Everyone, it‘s Mr Beast..“ he seemed shy, obviously blushing. His cheek color now almost matching Wreckers.

“I‘ve never heard that name before.“ Hunter responded after thinking about Omega‘s description for a second. But Wrecker did. He heard that name before, though he couldn‘t exactly place where. Mr Beast. He felt like lightning was shooting through him, creating an urge to protect the man he just rescued. Something connected them, he felt it. He couldn‘t tell why and he couldn‘t even say if he cared for an explanation.

He was too distracted thinking about what just happened to notice Hunter talking to him. „Wrecker, take his handcuffs off.“ „Oh, sorry.“ He took them off and put them in his pocket. He heard Mr Beast release a sigh, indicating relief, along with another „Thank you“ he, again, wasn‘t able to vocalize a response to.

“Mr Beast, I love your videos!“ Omega began running towards the man. „Careful Omega, we don‘t know if he‘s dangerous or not.“ Hunter warned, not wanting Omega to get hurt.

“He‘s not dangerous, he just locks people in houses and exposes them to their biggest fears for money!“ she reached the newly liberated hostage, smiling up at him „My favorite are your Squid Game videos!“ Everyone looked a little bit confused at this point, but intrigued at the same time. The stunning man made them curious. What did he do to get locked up and held prisoner in Jabba's Palace?

“What did you do to end up here?“ Tech was the first to speak to Mr Beast directly.

„I CHALLENGED JABBA THE HUTT FOR AUTHORITY!!!! I STOLE his NEWBORN CHILD !! If he got it back, he would’ve won 20,000 CREDITS, and if I would‘ve won, I would‘ve raised his child as ONE OF MY OWN!“

Omega seemed visibly excited at this idea. Wrecker was in awe. He‘s never heard a voice this soothing before. Hearing Mr Beast's voice felt like an angel touching his ears. He felt instantly at peace.

„You stole Jabba's newborn child?“ Echo looked at Mr Beast like he was insane. But was this plan really that crazy? Why not steal Jabba the Hutt's child and challenge him for authority? What spoke against it, really?

But what stood out most to Wrecker was Mr Beast's seemingly maternal urges to raise Jabba‘s child. Motherhood seemed to fit Mr Beast perfectly. Knock that thought out of your head Wrecker thought.

“Alright Mr Beast, I don‘t really know what’s going on with you but we gotta get you back to Cids. Get on the ship.“ Hunter's suspicion about the man lessened, the feeling now being replaced with confusion. What was going on with this man? Cid better pay them double for this mission.

They finally got him on the ship after he got done telling them something about NordVPN, whatever that was supposed to mean. Mr Beast was now talking to Omega in the back of the ship, telling her about the candy bars he wanted to sell her, while the rest of the batch gathered in the cockpit to discuss this person they brought onto their ship.

“He‘s a creep. He‘s talking complete nonsense all the time. Do you think he‘s actually insane?“ Echo was clearly not impressed with their new passenger.

Wrecker did not like Echo talking about Mr Beast like this. He felt protective of the god-like creature he just met a few moments ago. He was fearless and crazier than him. He was his Queen and god help anyone who dared to disrespect his Queen.

“Hey, we don‘t know him that well yet. And the kid likes him, so I don‘t have a problem with him.“ Wrecker defended Mr Beast, hoping nobody noticed his blushing cheeks.

„Yet? I hope we never see that man again after we hand him over to Cid.“ Echo snapped back. Hunter stayed quiet, deep in thought. Mr Beast wasn‘t acting like anyone else he‘d ever met before. His clear, loud voice; his gestures, the way his arms flung when he explained his plan to steal Jabba‘s baby; the way he talked like he was speaking to someone suffering from loss of hearing. He didn‘t know how to feel about him.

He watched him talk to Omega. She, at least, seemed certain that she liked him. It doesn‘t matter what we think of him, Hunter thought, he’s gonna be gone as quick as he came when we hand him over to Cid. He secretly hoped he‘d never see him again, so his head would stop centerning all of his thoughts around him.

What happened now, he didn‘t expect though. Hunter noticed Wrecker making his way towards the back of the ship. He looked uncomfortable, maybe nervous? But certain. Was he trying to make conversation with Mr Beast?

“What is he doing?“ Echo seemed to have noticed what Wrecker was trying to do, as well. Tech glanced towards the back too, though seemingly not caring enough to comment on what was going on.

“H-Hey“ Wrecker tried his hardest to get the words he wanted to say, to actually leave his mouth. Mr Beast looked up at him with his sparkling blue eyes, taking his breath away. „I- I just wanted to ask if you were okay, because you were locked up in Jabba‘s Palace and stuff like that.“ He looked at his feet the entire time he talked, escaping Mr Beast's eye contact, because Wrecker wasn‘t sure how long he could withstand this man's look.

“I‘M FINE! Just A LITTLE BIT annoyed that I couldn‘t get away with another CHILD ABDUCTION!“ Wrecker internally swooned at Mr Beast's beautiful voice, he wasn‘t sure he could ever get enough of hearing it. That’s when he noticed he was staring just a little bit too much. „Something wrong, Wrecker?“ Omega asked him, with a smile on her face, obviously happy her brother wanted to get to know her idol.

Wrecker searched his mind for a topic he overheard Mr Beast talking about in the time span between the rescue and now, in order to keep the conversation going.

“So, what’s this Squid Game thing about?“
