🎥 !!!
🎥 can you recommend me a horror film?
ok hopefully you're a fan of sci-fi because I'm going to (very highly) recommend sputnik (2020)! it's a russian film set in the space program of the late soviet period. a cosmonaut has just returned from a disastrous mission, and a young female psychiatrist has been brought in by the government to assess his well-being and work out just what happened to him and his fellow cosmonaut out in space.
it does owe a bit to alien (1973) but I think people (*ahem* letterboxd users) overstate that. it's very much its own film, and definitely earns its runtime. worth watching on a big screen in a dark room if you can. the score and the sound effects alone deserved your full attention
horror emoji ask game 👻

choi beomgyu fic recs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✿ a night to remember — choi beomgyu - @jeontaeil-archived (beomgyu takes you out on a lovely date to his old workplace and after hours of having fun, neither of you are quite satisfied. too impatient to wait till you get back home, or to his car in the least, you don’t think twice before getting down and dirty right then and there. at the end of the day, how many people can proudly admit that they’ve fucked in a trampoline park?)
✿ airport crush | choi beomgyu NSFW - @boba-beom (while waiting 4 hours for your next flight, you see a cute guy at the airport and decide to kill some time.)
✿ a star called you | c.bg - @scintillasofbeomgyu (yn and their friends run the campus radio for which yn is the host of the evening show “dear sputnik”, where they share stories and hope to create a healing space for all students— even though many don’t listen to it. little does yn know, their biggest fan, angel313, is choi beomgyu— the boy they’ve silently had a crush on for the past four years.)
✿ nap of a star - @blue-jisungs (you’re taking a nap on your friend’s lap)
✿ sk8ter boi -> c.b - @gyusrose (you never thought in a million years to be attracted to a boy like beomgyu. His baggy clothes, scrappy shoes, long hair just wasn’t a click with your elegant dresses, tight skirts, ballet dancer- self , but somehow he managed to steal your attention.)
✿  stoner!bestfriend!beomgyu x fem!reader - @universecorp (as much as beomgyu tries to deny falling in love with you, even after he claimed you saved him from believing his whole purpose of life was to be bad luck, his heart cannot tell a lie.)
✿ honeymoon - @beomsight (thoughts about how you and bf!beomgyu are in that honeymoon phase where you’re constantly all over each other)
✿ who’s home? - @iknowyuu (reader's guardians unexpectedly come home in the middle of a cuddle session.)
✿ sweet. - @tyunlatte (beomgyu is whipped for the reader, that's it. that's the plot. just something short and sweet to make your hearts ache.)
✿ who’s that girl! - @h00nerz (after coming home from vacation to discover your boyfriend of over a year cheating on you, you find yourself to be in search of a new place to live. lucky for you, your friend’s cousin is moving across the state, leaving a room open that’s yours for the taking. the only problem? it means you would be staying with three guys.)
✿ a lost bet! - @heart2beom (you lose a bet to beomgyu and out of everything you'd think he'd ask of you -- money, to pour freezing water on yourself out in the snow, hell, you thought it'd be more likely for him to ask you to jump off a cliff and survive than telling you to take him out on a date.)
✿ strawberry kisses - @tyunlatte (when you accepted your boyfriend's sweet request to do his makeup, you weren't expecting the fiery turn that your little makeup session was going to take)
✿ 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - @sungbeam (gamer/streamer!choi beomgyu x f!reader)
✿ call you later - @heart2beom (beomgyu swears women fall at his feet and he's in fact, single by choice—what better way to prove this to you than collecting the numbers of random people on the street?)
✿ forever only you. - @mazeinthemoon (when an old friend draws your attention away from your boyfriend, he can’t help but get jealous)
✿ [🐯] i got you - @qqtxt (the best parts of beomgyu's morning always involve you)
✿ white dress - @fairyyeo (i recommend reading this!!!! pls go read its so good)
✿ photobooth. - @ev3rm0re-q (even though you and beomgyu have been together for three months, you two have yet to share a kiss. on his day off, the two of you venture outside and come across a photo booth. perhaps a few pictures might finally motivate the both of you to take action.)
✿ tokyo - choi beomgyu - @beomie3 (the neon-lit towers which surround you are mighty bright. but in his eyes, you shine brightest. the adventures of two lovers in tokyo. ~coming of age film~ vibes.)

This is unusual. You don’t normally see a sprawling mid-century modern house on a farm. Built in 1966 in Carmi, Illinois the 4bd. 3.5ba. home is on 37.50 acres of farmland and priced at $499K. The home is in immaculate condition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very MCM entrance with Sputnik light fixtures. How much would it cost to replace those doors, though, b/c they’re deteriorated along the bottom.
Tumblr media
Look at how huge the living room is, and that carpet looks new. Beautiful stone wall.
Tumblr media
And, look at how far the dining room is. Helllooooo!
Tumblr media
The dining room up close.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen is in the middle of the formal dining room and a large eating space. It has a nice white brick feature wall.
Tumblr media
There’s a chip on the island, cabinets are original - they look like laminate, which was big in the 60s.
Tumblr media
The ovens and dishwasher look original, but the cooktop looks new. Looks like they took the fridge. I hate that.
Tumblr media
Gigantic family room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main bd. I like that mural, but not the mirrored wall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main bath is gigantic and it has the sunken tub that higher end MCM homes tend to have.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The baths are all basically the same, except for different colors. Look at the tilt of cabinets- MCM architects loved to tilt and angle stuff.
Tumblr media
The bds. all look the same- big and plain, which is the way they designed them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isn’t this neat? Looks like new heating and cooling in a nice storage room.
Tumblr media
Here’s a big rec room.
Tumblr media
I like the red guest powder room.
Tumblr media
They took the washer/dryer. This is the laundry room.
Tumblr media
More storage. This house is so clean.
Tumblr media
And, here’s the barn. This is a very unique property.

Hello there ^^ have you posted the list of books you're reading before by curiosity? If not would you mind sharing? I'm curious, if that's ok with you!
For those who haven’t seen this post, one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to finish my reading list. I picked 32 books/ stories from recs, classics, and titles which interested me. This is listed in ascending order, with my faovrites italicized (`・ω・´)
I hope this satisfies your curiosity, Anonie!! I enjoyed most of the stories, and I’m excited that this resolution is almost complete. Pls excuse my ramblings bc I couldn’t help adding some subjective comments for each story :>
Edit:: Resolution accomplished!! The final three book reviews have been added~
♡ The Blue Bird by Maurice Maeterlinck
It’s the only playwriting script on my list, and I can only imagine how visually exciting the stage performance must be. I learned about this story from @/mcdonaldsnumberone :3
♡ The Steadfast Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen
This ended up on my list bc of Scaramouche. Need I say more??
♡ A Long Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott
Aahhh this was so exciting to read. After rooting for the heroine’s liberation, I am both sad and awed by the ending. You can thank @/bye-bye-sunbird for this amazing rec (◍•ᴗ•◍)
♡ Poetic Fragments of Sappho (translated by Julia Dubnoff)
The emotions, the imagery, the references to Greek mythology *sobs* Sappho’s poetry is so intimate and beautiful, and I will be the first to cry if more fragments are discovered one day.
♡ We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
I appreciated the story more after reading the literary analyses. It’s pretty good.
♡ Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami
I was curious about Murakami’s work due to his popularity. I liked his writing style in Document 1, but I couldn’t properly appreciate the story bc of the male-gazey parts.
♡ The Hand of the Enemy by Kerima Polotan
Polotan’s writing style is *chef’s kiss.* I think she did a good job at explaining “the political is personal” through her characters.
♡ The Call of Cthulhu by H.P. Lovecraft
I’m not personally into Lovecraft’s writing style so I think I’ll stick to the summaries. It was nice to learn more about cosmic horror through the source material.
♡ Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
The book isn’t my type, so I have no comments.
♡ Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu
There are so many quotes which made me squeal as a yandere writer, and I can always appreciate a wlw vampire story. It inspired me to write for Yandere! Vampire Pantalone ( ´ཀ` )
♡ Heartless by Marissa Meyer
I love the whimsical writing style and Alice in Wonderland references. The food descriptions are so wonderfully written.
♡ Love and Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
My new favorite book by the author. Generally, I love how she writes about family, romance, and tourism. It helps that this specific story has connections to Greek mythology ✧˖°
♡ Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
A good satirical take on Gothic novels!! It was easy for me to fall in love with Austen’s writing and the character of Henry Tilney.
♡ Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
I don’t plan to read the sequels, but I did enjoy Anne’s sense of imagination.
♡ The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
This book isn’t my type so I don’t have much to say about it ^^;
♡ Spells for Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch
Another wonderful story by the author. I love the magic and mystery in it.
♡ My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier
After falling in love with Rebecca, I had to check this out and now the author’s other works are in my next reading list. Simply put, I adored this.
♡ Creepover: It Spells Z-O-M-B-I-E! by P.J. Night
I read this out of nostalgia for the series and was utterly disappointed. It lacks many of the traits which made the other Creepover books so enjoyable to my younger self -.-
♡ The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
Honestly, what can I say?? Just read the story and see for yourself ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა
♡ The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole
Another story which I can’t rlly comment on since the writing style isn’t my type.
♡ The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal
The horror and aesthetics is so artfully written, and Silas is an excellent example of an utterly despicable antagonist. I couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end.
♡ Circus of Wonders by Elizabeth Macneal
The freakshow/ circus setting offers a different morbid aesthetic. I can’t wait to read Macneal’s future works >:3
♡ You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao
A good story about grief. It has a brilliant detail about how Sam’s calls affect the heroine’s communication with other people. I do think the story would’ve been better if it were longer.
♡ And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
An excellent murder mystery which made me go “?!! :0” when the culprit was revealed.
♡ Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
I subscribed to the author’s YouTube channel, so I was naturally curious about this. I liked the mecha concept and historical references, but I have to agree with some of the negative reviews. The fact that I’m not into scifi also influenced my capacity to enjoy this book.
♡ A Wilderness of Sweets by Gilda Cordero-Fernando
Mere words cannot describe how good and sad this story is ;-;
♡ Grimms’ Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm
All those fairytales + the writing inspiration it gave me……..*rubs hands evilly*
♡ Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor by Xiran Jay Zhao
Again, I can’t say much about this book since I’m not into scifi + I’m not the target audience. I will say that I liked it more than Iron Widow due to the historical trivia, contemporary setting, and creative premise.
♡ Bone China by Laura Purcell
I am officially a fan of the author and I can’t wait to read her other works. More Gothic horror, here we go ٩( ᐛ )و
♡ Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
I now understand why @/diodellet and a book heroine cried reading this. Props to the author for the effective changes in writing style!!
♡ Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
It’s a good story but honestly not my type. There were times I found it hard to read but that might be due to the long paragraphs :T
♡ Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
Another excellent mystery novel!! I like the self-aware protagonist, Knox’s Commandments, and the attention-catching title >:3

hmm, if you like rock, i recommend xdinary heroes’ test me and strawberry cake, as well as all their other songs. hello, world! is their best release by far. day6 makes really good music, but as a general rule i always recommend sweet chaos and shoot me. stray kids is my favorite boy group of all time! they have some good songs reminiscent of rock like yayaya, my pace, awaken, district 9, time out, hello stranger, and can’t stop (although that one is more cute and fun). enhypen has songs like drunk-dazed, attention please, blockbuster, and one in a billion. other general rock-like recs are no celestial by le sserafim, tomboy by gidle, and dear sputnik by txt. sorry if that was a lot ^^; i hope u have fun listening! i added links but i guess you can’t send links via anon :( sorry abt that.
Huge fan of Test Me ngl. very boppy. loved the mv, i liked how there was a story to it lol
Huge fan of strawberry cake as well. not sure which i liked more, huge fan, will def be checking out xdinary heroes. 10/10 no complaints
Sweet Chaos was nice! I think i liked the xdinary heroes songs better but i really liked the effects used in the sweet chaos mv
I liked Shoot Me! more than sweet chaos i think. bang bang
Total day6 rating- maybe a 9/10? Ill probs check them out if i get more into kpop
Ive heard of Stray Kids! I have a mutual who really likes them ^^ they also did the opening and ending for the tower of god anime lol
Just watched the My Pace mv and. why are there so many of them sujfohsfuihhu how many members does stray kids have,,,? Anyways the song was a bit too hip hop for me i think
Yayaya as well is a little too hip hop for my tastes
Also for some reason theyre really hurting my head shflshfj the lights in yayaya were a lot, as was the beginning of hello stranger? Idk this is totally a me issue i think. I like hello strnger tho. is it a cover? the video iwatched said stray kids version
Cant stop is cute, is it a duet? I mean like. there were only two ppl singing so im assuming lol
time out is 0/10 bc theyre on the beach in the mv and i hate the beach (/j) but like. why are they wearing jeans,,, oh my god,,, once again confused on how many memebrs are in this group. the english verse was cool
Started enhypen's attention please music video and what do i see. theyre on the fucking beach again. oh my god. Why are there so many of them. why are they wearing school boy uniforms. oh my god. WHY DO THEY HAVE MAGIC RUGBY POWERS
jokes aside i like this song
Wathing drunk-dazed. are they fucking vampires whar. hello. anyways the song fucking slaps im loving enhypen theyre so camp
Shout out to no celestial i love women. so much. this slaps too. thank u le sserafim
SHOULD OUT TO (G)I-DLE'S TOMBOY IM OBSESSED. I LOVE WOMEN. HOLY SHIT. I LOVE WHEN WOMEN MURDER
I liked the harmonies in Dear Sputnik a lot :))) good song i liked it
I think my top groups were def gidle, le sserafim, enhypen, and xdinary heroes

Ahh okay I know this isn’t a question but I love love LOVE your writing. The fic with the old timey gay detectives is what keeps me going from day to day. More writing should be written about gays in the early to mid 20th century and if you’re willing to I’d love a short story with more of that. Anyway thank you for your writing!
Thank you so much for your message :D
Writing about old timey gay detectives is what got me through winter 2020/21 lockdown so it's really lovely to hear it's what's getting you through today's hellscape as well! It's been a little while since I've revisited South Park Confidential, but I would absolutely love to write a small sequel one day. If memory serves, I left Stan and Kyles' time in New York as ambiguous as possible, to give myself room to play with a plot at a later date :)
In terms of other fics set in the mid-20th century, I have a couple other plot ideas! The one I've got furthest on was a 1960s Creek AU, vaguely inspired by the song "The Leader of the Pack" by The Shangri-Las, featuring a fashionable Mod!Tweek and bad boy (but secret softie) Craig. I got about 6k in before my laptop up and died and I lost it all :(( I certainly learnt my lesson about backing things up after that tragedy as I lost a whole host of WIPs along with it. Maybe once I'm done the current fic I'm working on, Dead End Mountain Town, I'll take another crack at it :)
In the mean time, if you're looking for more historical fics, here's a couple recs:
The Sound That Forevermore Separates the Old from the New by Juldas - "In the fall of 1957, Sputnik inadvertently draws two classmates together." (Style)
The Well and the Lighthouse by Effingbirds - "When Gregory is sent to France during World War II to assist the underground Resistance, he has no intention of surviving. Little does he know, once there, he'll find a reason to live." (Gregstophe, Style)
Amalgamation by Hollycomb - "In 1862, Kyle's family is forced to move from New York to a tiny mining settlement at the foot of Pike's Peak in Colorado. Kyle is sixteen years old and miserable until he meets Stan, a fellow transplant who has been in town for three years. Their feelings for each other are shadowed by the town's haunted history, and for Kyle the local legends begin to feel more like real nightmares." (Style)
I'm sure there are many other wonderful historical fics for this fandom (which I would love to read if anyone else has relevant recs!) but these were just the ones I could think of, off the top of my head. Let me know if you get around to reading any of them as I'd love to discuss them!! And thanks again for your lovely message (/^-^)/

what are your top 5 horror movies of all time?
I'm cheating and giving 7 because I don't want to kick the last two off the list of all time favourites:
an american werewolf in london (1981)
the thing (1982)
ginger snaps (2000)
scream (1996)
jennifer's body (2009)
the wicker man (1973)
the descent (2005)
and I'm extra cheating by giving my top 5 I watched this year since I haven't rewatched them yet and some may make the list one day:
hatching (2022)
sputnik (2020)
infinity pool (2023)
daughters of darkness (1971)
[REC] (2007)

mr. bees i wanna ask what your favorite book/book you'd recommend bc i just finished mine and i keep finding tiktok books recommend and im losing it
idk what my favorite book is tbh! id probably say the LOTR trilogy. but for recommendations i can can give you some recs based off of categories i like to read. put under a read more cuz i rambled a lot
fantasy/sci-fi:
Lord of the rings: kinda obvious its like The fantasy story but its truly so good. Tthe world tolkien made is like nothing else. If you love worldbuilding LOTR is a must read it literally raised the bar for me when i was a kid.
Dune: currently ive only finished the first book but DAMN. a staple of the sci-fi genre its got the same intricate worldbuilding of LOTR but this one is a little bit more like.....idk how to describe it but you've gotta be a real fucking dork ass nerd to read these books its 500 pages of people fighting over a planet made out of space cocaine. its great.
overall fiction:
Sputnik Sweetheart by haruki murakami: This is a short and atmospheric read about a man looking for his friend who dissapeared after she got in a relationship with a mysterious woman. Its surrealist and open ended. fair warning about murakami though he is pretty weird about women, not too awful in this book but in others....yeah.
Dracula: U already know wtf is going on!!!
Land of the lustrous: .......okay so this one is a manga not a book but it's one of my fave fictional works just in general so ive gotta. It's a beautifully drawn story about gemstone people following the weakest of them as she tries to prove herself, slowly destroying her identity in the process and it starts very cute but it is heartwrenching.
Jane Eyre: This one is a piece of classic english literature so its a bit more difficult to read but this was the one romance book i read that i didnt hate and thats saying something coming from me
Informational (history, educational, philosophical)
Sakura by naoko abe: This book is about the restoration of the cherry tree to japan through the efforts of british collector Collingwood Ingram. Super interesting book about how biodiversity can be destroyed and restored. Also talks of the fascinating history of the cherry trees symbolism in japan.
the secret lives of colors: a fun collection of various colors and their specific histories. each color has a few chapters dedicated to it and i learnt we made a lot of deadly paints! like a lot! wow!
entangled life by merlin sheldrake: about mushrooms and the way they are much more important and powerful than we think written by a mycologist. both informational and philosophical in the way it made me realise that life as we know is so much more than we think.
