OK OK OK OK OK
I finally finished Good Omens season 2 and I have so many fucking thoughts which I will list in no particular order:
The Doctor Who references are always golden. (somewhat related: that part when Crowley was bullshitting about war regulations in front of Shax & co in the bookshop? super reminiscent of Ten’s speedy sci-fi jargon)
The music, as always, fucking slaps, especially at the end of each episode when the theme is played in a related style I love it so much
Nina and Maggie!!! I do really like them as a ship (coffee shop + record shop? that’s a built-in au fic) but I also like how they’re not actually together at the end. I love how they’re so healthy in how they go about their potential relationship, both acknowledging how messed up it was for Aziraphale/Crowley to meddle with their lives and how dumb it would be to rush into something headfirst regardless of all the shit they had been through both togther and as individuals. Also Fuck Lindsay all my homies hate Lindsay, as much as I liked what they did with visualising her shitty messages (the blackboard and crumpled notepad sheets? because of coffee shop reasons and how Nina’s work and love life was suffocatingly forced together by the incessant behest of Lindsay)
<The dancing/ball/Jane Austen vibes3
Beezelbub and Gabriel!?!? When I first came across this ship on ao3 I thought this ship made somewhat sense but would stay in the realms of fanon yet here I am disproven and I can’t lie… they’re kinda cute together. I was caught off guard (like every other character) but fair dues to them. Their parallels with the ineffable husbands are just ughh *chef’s kiss*
^alpha centauri!!!^
Peter Davison and Ty Tennant??? Their appearances did make me giggle for meta’s sake. Perhaps a Georgia Tennant appearance in season 3? (if they make it please please please say they’ll make it)
WAS CROWLEY ACTUALLY RAPHAEL??? I thought it was just a headcanon/fan theory (which I did fall in love with after watching this beautiful animatic years ago) but Crowley having access to classified files and the Metatron mentioning that an archangel being cast out has happened before??? it’s becoming more and more plausible.
AND JUST PRE-FALL CROWLEY IN GENERAL HE LOOKS SO HAPPY all he ever did was ask valid questions goddamnit (literally). nebulae are very pretty I would also be indignant if they weren’t gonna stick around for long. AND THE PARALLEL TO THE FIRST EPISODE WITH THE WINGSSS
Crowley just being a good nice decent person all throughout time (the goats, children, helping out elspeth, ect) it makes me happy
ANDD Aziraphale’s reactions (both positive and negative) to aforementioned deeds create a great moral foil to Crowley and perfectly builds up to what we see at the end (I’ll probably write about s2 Aziraphale in a different post because man I have so many thoughts)
Crowley’s callbacks to the date lunch at the Ritz!! Him talking to Nina and Maggie about taking Aziraphale to the Ritz again to him pointing out the lack of a nightingale (idk if that was leaning into meta a little but it didn’t bother me) just HURT so damn much
“Emotional damage support angel” you’re damn right he is/was
The battery-powered candles lmfaooo and literally any reference to the fire, including the absurd number of fire extinguishers, had me giggling
Muriel is a goddamned (or not so in some sense) treasure, a little ray of sunshine with a heart of gold and dumb of ass. I adore her and found Aziraphale and Crowley humouring her hilarious.
THE SECOND COMING??? I’m sorry wHAT WE ALREADY HAD THE ANTICHRIST NOW WE’RE DEALING WITH CHRIST CHRIST? YOU CAN’T LEAVE US WITH JUST THAT MR. GAIMAN
and of course the bloody
K I S S
THAT WHOLE SEQUENCE OF CROWLEY FINALLY FINALLY OPENING UP AND JUST BEING WHOLEHEARTEDLY HONEST (going against his predisposition and entire NATURE to lie/omit or walk around the truth)
CONFESSING HIS TRUE FEELING AFTER COUNTLESS MILLENNIA OF PINING EVEN AFTER AZIRAPHALE DROPPED THAT BOMBSHELL
AND HALF STORMING OFF BEFORE GOING BACK TO KISS THE SHIT OUT OF HIM AND THEN FULLY STORMING OFF
with aziraphale clearly unsure of how to react BUT STILL TOUCHES HIS LIPS IN SHOCK AS HE WATCHES CROWLEY LEAVE
That shit had me fully standing up on the sofa, arms in brace position, gasping, screaming, close to tears, indignantly repeating “NEIL GAIMAN!” every couple of seconds
Tumblr media
Truly a brilliant scene and a brilliant season overall.
As always the cast, the writers, the set designers, the effects artists, the costumers, the camera crew, everyone who had a part in creating go2 was fucking fantastic.

The next episode itself is a two-parter, and I think that rather than split them up I will just watch through, which might mean I have to reblog this post multiple times.
Finishing out season four!
s4, eps 12&13 Destiny
Usual reminder: this is a REwatch and there’s spoilers ahoy, I make a lot of bad jokes (some of which are Adult In Nature), I reference other cartoons, I make random asides.
(also, this time specifically, I had some alcohol)
Tbh? it's a lot like watching things like this with me in person aaahahaha I always want to pause and infodump shit -_-
lol Emily is destroying Shadow Weaver's garden
Tumblr media
Emily acts like Mal the cat does sometimes. WHAT IS IN YOUR MOUTH you are not supposed to have that! Get out of there!
Tumblr media
UGGGH
Tumblr media
it's easy to forget how BIG Scorpia is??
LOLOL oh my god I went downstairs for like an hour and a half talking to my partners about the most random shit and then playing with the cat and also: I've had most of a can of wine.
One of these:
Tumblr media
YEAH (that's a huge image)
so if these get weird: blame the wine I guess
oh also @corpseauthority and I picked out fake fur and minky fabric for the ears and tail of my Catra cosplay :D :D :D I'M SO EXCITED
OKAY BACK TO SHE-RA
Tumblr media
the only thing better than Scorpia's "huh?" is Shadow Weaver's flat "what"
Shadow Weaver: no we need the other princesses Glimmer: well they're gone but-- Scorpia, Shadow Weaver, and Emily: WAIT, WHAT???
Tumblr media
AND THEN
Tumblr media
okay but is the guard telling you this Double Trouble
ROLL INTRO
Tumblr media
that thing was not meant to hold four humans and a horse with wings
Tumblr media
why are you SNIFFING HIM
Entrapta: "I don't know you" Micah: "Yes, you do. You stole my food." Entrapta: "OH YEAH! It was delicious :D"
oh god Adora's like "....but are you okay? we came here to find you 🥺"
and she's like YEAH I'M GREAT
Tumblr media
"each more deadly than the next??? it's PARADISE"
I love her so much oh my godddd
Bow: "We're here to rescue you" Entrapta: "didn't I just rescue YOU?"
Tumblr media
Bow mentions Hordak and Entrapta pulls her little new bug-eye mask down :(
Adora: so hey we uhhhhhhhh really need your help due to a terrible secret of the First Ones that nobody but us knows
Tumblr media
"WHy didn't you say so???"
Tumblr media
well that's a callback to s1 ep1
Tumblr media
THERE SHE IS!! MY BABY 😍 I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Tumblr media
nooo
anyway Kyle, Rogelio, and Lonnie come in and Catra's like OH UHHH so...what's happening
Lonnie: "we just got back from conquering another Rebel town" Kyle: ":D You should've seen us!! It was all:"
Tumblr media
and then he kicks Scorpia's old locker, with the drawings on it, and Catra gets mad
Tumblr media
Ironically the degree to which Catra is UPSET is making me ship them harder lol
Tumblr media
bb you need a break you are getting feral
Man Lonnie has her number lol. "What is wrong with you? We're winning! Even you should be happy."
Tumblr media
god I love when she's this deranged
she slams poor Lonnie against a locker
Tumblr media
john cena dot gif
but also OH DO THEY REMIND YOU OF WHO YOU USED TO BE? HMM? what you really wanted??? what actually gave you something like joy or contentment????? are you trying to just erase any part of you capable of feeling good?????????
Tumblr media
Kyle is RIGHT
The cinematic parallels between Catra and Glimmer in this episode ("forget my friends I'M IN CHARGE HERE and YOU NEED TO FOLLOW ORDERS") are *chef's kiss*
Tumblr media
Catra realizing this isn't what she actually wants: part ....a lot
Tumblr media
STOP REMINDING ME I HAVE FEELINGS!!
The other three leave, she yanks the drawings off Scorpia's old locker, then THUMPs her head on it. And then Double Trouble shows up!
Tumblr media
okay wait tho the way she pauses and then thumps her head on it is so funny I wish I could gif it, it's so cat-like and also Very Emo
I don't think this is supposed to be funny but it IS and I cannot stop rewinding and laughing. I blame the wine.
THONK
help i've rewatched it like five times now
okay
Tumblr media
lol right??
Tumblr media
Me, when I was info-dumping my own fic at myself: is it weird to imagine these two banging??? Me now: nope
Double Trouble: "Apologies for the delay, kitten. I got ...held up...in Bright Moon"
Anyway they give a little speech about how the Princesses keep fighting and She-Ra is away
Tumblr media
NO SHIT, SHERLOCK
Tumblr media
(now THERE's an old fandom reference ahahaha)
"We can't let them return to the Fright Zone!" TOO FUCKING LATE
Tumblr media
YOU STOLE HER GARNET YOU WOULD THINK SO
Anyway they argue about the possibility of Glimmer taking Scorpia back to the Fright Zone
Tumblr media
GOD I HATE IT WHEN SHE'S RIGHT UGGGHHHH
lolol I am. like. less than ten minutes into the FIRST OF TWO EPISODES and i've hit the image limit.

2.02 thoughts!
DAMN Crowley talking to the goats about himself, basically, yeah? God will destroy you for no fucking reason.
Muriel is such a John Finnemore idiot character. Love that.
My ambivalence to Ineffable Bureaucracy aside, Gabriel remembering the song even after putting all of his memories into a fly is pretty sweet. (Gabriel is also such a John Finnemore idiot. He writes great idiots.)
This whole thing with the Scottish pub's jukebox feels like something that should have been given to Maggie to investigate, maybe. Like all of the stuff that the human characters were able to look into for the viewers' benefit in s1/the book - it feels like too much of a digression for Aziraphale when there's so much going on in the plot. I feel like it could have helped to make things less jam-packed.
Aziraphale doing the little miracle to get the guy out of his seat (and seeming to be closed to get away from street association man) - again, a little selfishness!
When I first watched this ep I KNEW he was going to characterize Maggie as having a "pash".
I don't like the Jane Austen joke ... I know I'm being a killjoy/taking it too seriously. A friend pointed out that it's very Doctor Who-ish and it is. We don't have TIME for stupid jokes, there is too much plot to cover.
Truly love that Peter Davison is Job and Ty Tennant is Job's annoying gay son. "Bildad the Shuite" is so silly that it really pleases me.
The first time in history that Crowley insists to Aziraphale that "no I really am evil and awful, I'm such a bad guy"? And he's immediately proven wrong.
I always liked the idea that Aziraphale discovered the pleasures of human food himself (with pleasure in physical comforts and food/drink being his own personal love of the Earth to mirror Crowley's), but it being something that Crowley introduces him to, as supreme lover of Earth, works as well.
Aziraphale being jealous that Job gets to speak to God (when was the last time God actually interacted with any angels besides Metatron? is she talking to the archangels, even?) when God is just lecturing him like an asshole, asking him questions he obviously has no answer to ...
I am such a child, the "reach into his robe - no, higher" joke really landed with me.
I feel like Gabriel and Michael would have questioned the number of children being given, since she was supposed to have seven? Also makes me wonder if the poor woman still conceives seven more times, since that was apparently divinely ordained. (I guess she could still miscarry. I just want to save her from seven births at her age.)
The "our car, our bookshop" conversation hits so well on a second viewing - but again, so selfish. There is no way he has ever considered the car shared until the moment that he needed it!
Pride and Prejudice foreshadowing/parallel - Gabriel sort of was an angel in possession of a "good fortune" as supreme archangel, and the first line is sarcastic, but he did find himself in want of a wife, of sorts. I'm connecting the dots! (You haven't connected shit.)
The interesting thing about Aziraphale's abusive relationship with Heaven/God is that it's a staple of fic, yet ... not quite like this. The focus in my experience is usually on him being directly bullied rather than on the doubt engendered in him by God/Heaven doing shitty things and his fears about what doubting would mean (though tbf I don't read as much GO fic as I do OFMD fic). I'm sort of eager to see if people jump on this.
Crowley thinks he's so adorable when he's freaking out about being "fallen". So cute so cute so cute. How does David Tennant load so much affection into his smile? And the "as far as he can" callback ... *chef's kiss* It is interesting to me how in/after s1 I was very into the dynamic where Crowley gets off on protecting Aziraphale, and now I am kind of like "... he's been GIVING for so many centuries, when is Aziraphale going to turn around and match that?" Some of that is obviously echoes from having seen the finale, but some is definitely what I was thinking as I watched the first time. (Presumably the answer is "in s3," obviously.)

Chapter 1060: Dream On
So, not every chapter can be a banger like 1059; chapter 1060 some big moments, but it has a few things that drag it down for me.
First off, the color spread. LOVE.
Tumblr media
Seeing all ten Straw Hats together is just *chef’s kiss* Love, love, love.
Onto the chapter itself. We open on the Sunny, as the crew learns about Sabo, Cobra, and Vivi. I love seeing Luffy’s loyalty to his people -- both Sabo and Vivi in this case.
Luffy’s certain Sabo wouldn’t do what he’s being accused of (and, of course, he’s right).
Tumblr media
And as soon as he realizes Vivi’s in trouble, he’s ready to go help, consequences be damned.
Tumblr media
I never get tired of seeing Luffy’s loyalty to his loved ones.
But I also love seeing Zoro, as first mate, being the voice of reason. Not only does he know charging into a dangerous situation with no leads would be a terrible idea, but he also refuses to underestimate Vivi. (It’s also worth noting that he’s not saying that they shouldn’t help Vivi; it’s just that they don’t have anything to go on right now. Until they have that, they should trust Vivi to take care of herself because she is capable.)
This isn’t the first time Zoro’s been the one to steer the crew to the right path. Something something irony of Zoro, who is constantly lost, being a figurative compass for the crew.
Tumblr media
I’m also cackling at this callback to chapter 217 when everyone was missing Vivi post-Alabasta and called Zoro names for not being sympathetic:
Tumblr media
Also, I’d just like to appreciate this panel when Zoro reminds him of what he said about Ace:
Tumblr media
What. A. Face. The little brother energy here is strong. I love him.
Oh, and Caribou is also on-board the ship. Don’t forget, Luffy promised to give him a ride in chapter 940.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that the barrel he’s in is chained up seems like a good indication the Straw Hats are aware of him.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Robin’s catching up on the rest of the news that happened while they were isolated in Wano. Luffy doesn’t want to know, but I doooooo. Tease.
Tumblr media
(I still want to see Doflamingo’s reaction to Luffy and Law’s success in Wano and the ensuing chaos. Gimme some Doffy, Oda. Pleaaaaase.)
Okay, so the part of the chapter I didn’t love: Luffy’s dream. You know, the thing the entire chapter is named for.
Tumblr media
We cut away from Luffy telling his nakama about his dream and then return to their reactions. Whyyyyyyyy? What’s the point of naming the chapter after something that continues to only be hinted about. If we’re just going to continue beating around the bush about it, it feels like wasted panel space when there is so much else going on.
We know Luffy and Roger had the same dream, and it’s something that made Sabo, Ace, and Shanks laugh (though the line about Shanks crying is interesting; he must have realized the parallel, which gives more weight to him sacrificing his arm for Luffy.)
Tumblr media
The crew reactions are interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know the common theory is that Luffy wants to throw the world’s biggest party and bring everyone together, but some of the reactions (like Zoro’s, Usopp’s, and Nami’s) feel off for something like that.
Oh well. This was the least interesting part of the chapter for me when so much interesting stuff happens once we return to Sabo:
Sabo has fled to Lulusia Kingdom, one of the eight kingdoms in rebellion. It sounds like Im and the Five Elders were already planning to punish the kingdom for its rebellion:
Tumblr media
But Sabo hiding out there is just more reason to take drastic measures, especially when he reveals what he saw.
Tumblr media
Two birds, one stone.
And now we likely know what happened to God Valley:
Tumblr media
Uh... Is this the power of the ancient weapon Uranus? After all, the Greek god Uranus was the personification of the sky.
The fact that the World Government just wiped out an entire country -- innocent people -- for their own egos is... actually very on brand for them, considering Ohara and Flevance.
As for Sabo, well, he’s a logia now so I’m sure he survived, but he’ll probably be out of commission for some time.
Finally, we return to the Sunny a few days later. Crazy Grand Line weather strikes again...
Tumblr media
Somehow there is someone inside it?!
And it’s a familiar face:
Tumblr media
Bonney! Another member of the Worst Generation appears, and considering the events we’ve seen her tied to before, I’m excited to see what new narrative revelations her presence will bring.

Steve's panic attack buying medical supplies... Poor baby. You said this fic is more scent marker heavy than most of your ABO stuff, but I REALLY think it was needed. It fits so perfectly in such a HEAVILY emotion-based story.
Steve threatening Neil!! Steve threatening Neil!! I love a good bloodthirsty bitch. Violence just really hits right sometimes. I love all the constant reminders we get that Steve is NOT a small Omega, in body or in spirit. Neil pissing himself as he narrowly avoids losing his fucking head was the sweetest retribution. I feel like it accomplished both goals. We got some violence, but he ALSO was made so small. He ran, terrified, from an Omega. He tried to get the cops on his side, and he FAILED. He's spent his entire life bullying his was into getting what he wants, and he's losing every last bit of his grip on that.
The kids piling in to puppy pile Steve, and it helping. They get to be here for him like he's there for them.
BILLY TELLING MAX HE LOVES HER AND TELLING HER SHE ALWAYS HAS A HOME WITH HIM. MY GOD.
Literally every single thing about Billy at the Cabin. Joyce's family haircuts and including him in that?? HE'S ONE OF HER KIDS NOW.
BILLY AND ELEVEN. El's complete inability to be sneaky or lie to blackmail someone (friends don't lie!!), and him letting her braid his hair anyway. Also love that he's back to threatening the kids and it's totally toothless but he still does it. Steve LETS him now, because he knows Billy's never going to let anything hurt those kids. The whole exchange about El feeling broken and in a sense unlovable, but he makes her feel so okay, even if not how he was meaning. "I'm going to tell Mike tomorrow." I'm sure that'd be great lol
THE REUNION. Everything about it is so so sweet. They've been so far apart and so worried for so long. But not only that. For the first time in their relationship, they're safe. And nothing bad can happen to them. They're not on a time constraint. They just get to be and be together.
Billy saying he'd let Steve ride him into the carpet made me snicker. That whole exchange. "Counterpoint-" lol I get you, Billy. Sometimes injuries take a back seat. (One time I needed help getting upstairs and was icing my knee which I could barely touch, but that Did Not Stop the festivities.) And Steve's insistence otherwise, because he WILL mama bear the fuck out of anyone and everyone. Even his Alpha.
Also the exchange explaining the Papa Bear thing was so cute. "I thought it was something weird."
THE FUCKING HOUSE. The fact that Steve gave him a home, but also is giving him the key as a necklace?? Just all so beautiful. The parallels. The callbacks. Billy crying because he's so loved and safe.
Also!! "I want your next heat"/"it's yours"!!!! The GROWTH!! OUR BOYS ARE FINALLY TRULY TALKING TO EACH OTHER AND READY TO FULLY HAVE EACH OTHER.
This was such a good chapter, and SUCH a good follow up to the last. The tonal shift wasn't abrupt. It just felt so natural.
Chef's kiss
The scent markers really did help this fic along. It adds another layer of depth to an already canon and verse intense dynamic and i think it REALLY compliments that like… feral… part of Billy. I’ve said before that he’s very much a natural Alpha, especially for how I write my Alphas, even giving him fangs felt like a perfectly normal thing to do since he’s always baring his teeth and licking his lips in the show? And adding the scent markers is just another way for him to be hyper aware of everything all the time and to properly figure out situations (which abused kids have to learn to do anyway literally just to survive).
Whoo okay Neil. You are exactly right about how the scene with Steve makes him feel “small”. Like not to sound too After School Special about it but once a bully realizes you Aren’t scared anymore, they lose their power. Neil tried to be physically imposing and got pushed off the porch because Steve’s bigger. He tried to call on his “authority” as an Alpha (it’s dangerous for omegas to be alone) and got wholly disrespected. Threatened to call the cops and was told to also call an ambulance. And then probably the most satisfying for me to write was how Steve very much treated him like a bratty child “I’m going to count to three!” Homeboy got stripped of every inch of his power and had to run away crying. Love that for us.
And I love the way that Steve felt afterwards. Instead of feeling sick or guilty like he would have if he’d actually killed Neil, he can smile and sort of chuckle about it and he KNOWS he could and would absolutely defend his mate from anyone and it actually gives him the hope that things are going to be okay.
Really super loved the kids influence in this chapter. From the boys puppy piling on Steve to max sneaking out of class to call Billy and honestly everything that is Eleven checking in steve and then sitting and braiding Billys hair while talking about Important things. I usually don enjoy writing too many younger characters because children in general make me want to tear my hair out, but it isn’t stranger things WITHOUT the party and the way the older characters interact with the kids highlights so many good themes and character arcs.
Billy just being so “oh no I’m gonna pop some pain pills and you’re gonna ride me into the carpet” like he’s feeling extremely confident in those pain pills lol. But more importantly, it’s just that connection, he’s so so desperate to keep his mate close and specifically in NCTS Omegaverse, sex is never just sex it’s always emotional and a way to bond and really intensely be with each other so yeah, Billy is 61% just a horn dog but he’s also 39% really needing to that close to his mate and I love that.
I was actually racking my brain trying to figure out what Steve could get Billy for his birthday. In an earlier version of this fic, there was a birthday chapter where Steve took Billy away for an overnight trip to one of the Great Lakes so Billy could just be on a beach again even if it wasn’t cali but once I dove into Neil a little more I realized they’d never get away with that sortnof thing without massive repercussions? So I switched it out and eventually ended up here and I knew I wanted Billys birthday to specifically be the moment where they 100% commit to each other, reaffirm their bond, clear up any potential misunderstandings (like the night at the byers) and move forward together, so then I had to figure out what Steve could give Billy that would be so hugely emotional lik the necklace…
And like. Duh. When it finally came to me it seems so so obvious. Of course steve gets them a place together. It’s been established over and over in this fic how Steve’s house isn’t really home, how he can’t relax there and will never feel totally comfortable there so of course he needs someplace new and of course Billy does to.
And the parallels to the Saint Christopher necklace 😭😭 in case Billy ever starts feeling lost he can remember how to get home to Steve?? I love them.
I almost left the last conversation out because at this point it felt redundant. Obvs the boys are together forever. But you’re right, they’ve always sort of…. Said it without actually saying it. Or (rightfully) assumed. And their communication has been next to nothing just because of Neil. So even with it being a little redundant I think it needed to be said. Billy isn’t even asking at this point either and I love that because he knows exactly where he stands with Steve. “Want your next heat, gonna come home to you every night, mark you up silver, make you mine” and Steve’s responses are “yes” and “I’m already yours”
Honestly I’m embarrassingly emotional over it

TOP 3 Rina scenes this season and why? go! :D
Oof this was a TOUGH question, because so many scenes were just *chef’s kiss*. There have been so many parallels, callbacks, and foreshadowing in everything that it’s hard 😭 I literally had to make a list and narrow scenes down because there were so many and for all different reasons. BUT I think I have narrowed it down to my top 3 with a bonus 4th thought that has really just been hitting me hard lately with them. (You’ll see what I mean)
1. WDYKAL-This was just a…. Masterpiece??? I don’t even know where to start on this one. Not only was Josh and Sofia’s performance outstanding in the way they sang, dance, acted through these literal single take scenes, but it felt captivating? Like I didn’t want to miss a second of the performance because I felt immersed in it. I think a lot of this has to do with what we understood about the characters leading up to this performance. I know Carlos gave directions beforehand, but as you watch the performance it stops being acting at some point. It makes perfect sense that Ricky said it was “heart wrenching” and Gina literally had to leave after that dead silence because the feelings involved were so heavy. This was something both of them had wanted for so long: to be able to express their love, touch each other, be near one another… and they literally had that but once the clouds of the song were taken down, they had to accept it as fake, even if it wasn’t. That cognitive dissonance can be excruciating. And then how impactful the end of the song was… when they were just staring at each other? I am grateful the show chose to end that scene in silence. It’s like all of the “noise” from the song, from the other people in the room, from their heartaches was drowned out and it was just them. The show and the song simultaneously kept building and building until it literally exploded in silence. To have such a heavy contrast make the viewers really feel how deep and connected these characters were in that moment and all together. I can’t say enough good things about this.
2. EJ slap/Ricky love confession- First of all, this scene was just bewildering! I know Ricky confessed his crush later in the episode, but this part was actually more impactful for me. I think this was because the entire episode had so many, not even hints at some points, that Ricky had a crush on Gina. So I didn’t feel very surprised? I guess by the end when he told Carlos. It was sweet, but didn’t give me that “shock value” I think I wanted for a confession. However, this scene did. I literally had to rewind my tv several times to process how FAST Ricky claimed Gina when Carlos said EJ stole the woman he loved. It wasn’t even a second thought on his mind. Ricky LOVES Gina. It’s not just a crush. Full on- in love. Then EJ states some of the biggest evidence that refutes claims Ricky never loved Gina: “you’ve held a torch to her for years”. While Rina technically only have known each other about a year at this point, the VIEWERS have been watching since 2019. I think this line in particular was some fourth wall breaking. Ricky has always had this special place for Gina in his heart for years that EJ noticed from the beginning. “So you care about Ricky?” These scene went outside not only the boundaries of the season, but the boundaries of TV with fourth-wall breaking. Then, just when you think it couldn’t get anymore intense: Ricky slaps EJ. I don’t think this has to do with just the little comments EJ had been making the episode before and then what he said now, but this pent up aggression Ricky felt from not being able to do anything about Gina because he waited too long in his mind. I think he was upset at himself and projected part of that onto EJ because EJ made himself a target by treating Ricky so bad and by dating Gina. We see later in color wars that Ricky went from outside sabotage to sabotaging himself and then pent up energy then becomes him crying himself to sleep. He is down so, so bad for her it’s crazy.
3. Though the woods scenes- so I know this is technically two or three scenes but I’m going to consider it one because it’s them exploring the woods. I love the parallel this has to Anna and Kristoff going on this journey together: literally and figuratively. They are going on excruciating climb and they’re not sure if it will even be worth it in the end but they TRY ANYWAY. Think about that sentence in the aspects of them going to find Elsa AND falling in love. This directly hints to Ricky saying, “I mean we’ve come this far, right?” He knows the journey has been scary and tough (“chicken”) and could end up not how he wanted it but he’s finally accepting change and recognizing that going out of his comfort zone could be far better than he ever imagined. That it’s worth the risk. He and Gina fall back into their old ways of talking and communicating and he’s realizing that maybe this is his second chance to do things right. To not only be a good friend to Gina, but to show up and stay. I’m telling you, the symbolism in this show goes CRAZY.
Bonus thoughts: I know this isn’t in the top scenes, but I had a really hard time not putting one of these scenes in my top 3: “I’m proud of you”, shameless, hey what’s wrong? (Season 7 promo), helping gina with EJ for camp prom, “where’s EJ?” On the basketball court, etc. Every one of these scenes was some effort on Ricky putting Gina first. Simply put: he didn’t do this with Nini. He purposely interfered, acted needy, and made things way difficult for Nini and EJ (not saying EJ was any better S1). However, this whole season was a direct contrast of his character to show his growth. That he doesn’t react to the way things are in an upsetting way. He’s putting Gina first because he loves her and wants her to be happy (as Olaf says), even if it hurts him. He showed up and stayed, no matter how tough it’s been. And a lot of these scenes show how he works BETTER for Gina than EJ. For example, Gina talked so highly of herself ep 3. How she wanted to be in the spotlight but never felt like enough. EJ changed the conversation back to him. Ricky, at the end of the episode (where the p*rtwell scene was at the beginning), made Gina’s accomplishment about Gina. He didn’t try to change the topic after Ashlyn left. He reminded her how big of a deal it was she made the lead and then LITERALLY showed a spotlight on her.
This show makes me want to cry, it’s so good.

back by unpopular demand, my thoughts on taemin's advice mv:
first of all this tumbnail slaps
Tumblr media
i love the classical piano intro that's very iconic and mood-making of him 😌 show off ur basic piano skills king!
Tumblr media
he's giving raven cycle/secret history/six of crows aesthetic tumblr edit circa 2015
love that for him!
this "ay you" part is stylistically lifted STRAIGHT from yunho's thank u...........shinee tvxq clones confirmed 😌
if there's one thing taemin's gonna give u it's neat complex footwork
also i still don't know how i feel abt the hair...........like yeah it's objectively terrible quality but idk it kinda works for some reason 😔
the introduction of highly saturated (?) red after the cold whiteness of the first 50 seconds is shocking (complimentary)
if there's another thing taemin's gonna give u it's intericate hand choreo
Tumblr media
WAIT ARE HIS HANDS COVERED IN BLOOD OMG
WAIT NO IT'S DIRT
i feel like most pre-enlistment songs r like rlly sweet like "i love u u make my life better pls don't forget me while i'm at war 🥺" but advice is like "i'm a bad bitch and i'm just getting started and there's nothing u can do abt it 😏😎😌"
"ay you, looking for something to gossip about" vs jonghyun's "i’m just here and they give me something to rip apart, thanks i guess, once that wears out, just switch to a different story i guess," in hashtag
the car crash directly parallels the famous mv omg but also pyn and flame of love
we love car crash symbolism to show someone's dangerous and impulsive and unhinged
WAIT THIS IS CORRUPTED TAEMIN OMG
(referring to my post/theory abt innocence vs corruption in taemin's work and how there's two taemin's: an innocent one and a corrupted one)
him floating suspended like the door performance from the 2018 Sirius tour
the checkered outfit reminds me of that one outfit from the 2kids teasers/mv
there's actually so many callbacks lol
Tumblr media
MOVE TANKTOP???????????
the way that scanned down and replaced current taemin w this blatant move era reference is *chef's kiss*
the white crop top tracksuit outfit is SO GOOD
actually this whole choreo in that tracksuit is so gender-blending like the hip choreo when he rolls his hips to this like weird hip isolation/thrusting move that transitions to a crotch grab like.................
if move was like elegant gender then this is messy gender
Tumblr media
OKAY U OVERDRAMATIC CATHOLIC WHORE
also the way he started off covered in black but ends covered in white on top of the black is.........a Choice
lee taemin never disappoints tbh he's always gonna deliver smth that demands a reaction instead of like......just doing choreo in a couple rooms and walking around kadkfjddjskflglhjkl
in conclusion stan one of the greatest pop artists alive rn stan taemin <3

Some people have said today that parallels in BNHA are getting old and repetitive, but I really enjoyed this one. Maybe I'm not too objetive, but one of the things that I've liked the most in Sports Festival and Stain arcs is how the message was sent from Deku to Todoroki to Iida and now Iida is giving that message back. It's as if things are coming full circle. And the symbolism of Iida being the class president and representing the whole class when offering his hand *chef kiss*. Apart from the symbolism, do you think that Bakugou didn't reach Deku because his injuries have affected his abilities to fly and move quickly or because it isn't the right time? We know that Horikishi loves the slow burn (me too ngl 😂) but do you think that we will have the Deku vs Kacchan 3 or the talk soon? It was so foreshadowed that I'm so excited about it can't wait! The class really brought a breath of fresh air to the manga I've missed them so much!!!!!! 😭
I'm sure that DvK3 is coming. Not sure how soon - but I'm glad it's likely to get its own focus like it deserves.
Yes, this chapter was full of amazing parallels and call-backs.
I loved Shouto talking to Deku about how his tunnel-vision (I'm paraphrasing here, but Shouto calls Deku out for playing AFO's game).
Mineta - Tsuyu combo was a nice callback to the USJ arc, where Deku held them together, despite being back than a finger-breaking one-trick pony.
Ochako's moment was highlighting how much she changed since the Kamino rescue, and generally how much the world around them has changed.
The class A super-combo played on so many themes too.
It's obviously a parallel to Deku's plan in Kamino, with Shouto's ice-ramp as a track - but also shows off how much Shouto has grown both in volume and in ability to shape his ice
Momo builds something at the beginning of the track
Dark Shadow being instrumental in pushing forward the group
They are covered in Mina's Acid Man, which is inspired by Kirishima's Unbreakable, which in turn was inspired by Bakugou and All Might's last stand in Kamino
Shouto launches Bakugou off with Flash Freeze Heat Wave, which is the move he used against Deku in their fight and refused to use against Bakugou
Ochako floats Bakugou, which was her goal against Bakugou in their Sport Festival match
Bakugou uses a new move built on the upgraded explosion he got after saving Deku to launch Iida
Iida challenges Deku, just like he did at the Sport Festival, but also recalling Deku's words about giving help not asked for, which originally were All Might's words to Deku, when he lost to Shouto at the Sport Festival.
Bakugou is not reaching out, instead letting Iida take the lead, just like Deku let Kirishima do it in Kamino
There are probably a lot more, but this is what I picked up for now. It feels not like one specific parallel, but more like tying a lot of the ways Deku affected the class into a neat bow.

Supergirl 6x3: Phantom Menaces.
Hey guys, I’m a little later than usual, but here I am. This week’s episode of Supergirl was MUCH better than last week’s. My thoughts below. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Okay, Kara broke her leg falling from the sky but also has super strength in the Phantom Zone? Something doesn’t add up, haha.
I’m going to like Nyxly, I think. I already liked her in this episode and Peta Sergeant and Melissa had easy chemistry with one another. I look forward to seeing Supergirl, Superdad, and Superimp team up.
Aw, poor Silas. You traded in your silly fangs for some crappy make-up effects. You deserved so much better.
Oh, Brainy snarking at Lex’s interview and filling it in with his own words was too funny. One of the best funny moments of the episode.
Agh, omg. The Alex and Kelly moment at the beginning of the episode was so good. Kelly giving a classic Superfriends Hope Speech(tm) was amazing. Was it corny? Oh hell yes. Was it exactly the kind of drama (good kind) I needed from them? Also yes. Chyler knocked it out of the park this episode. More on that later.
Lena vs. Lex was better this week. I think it worked better because of a few reasons. One reason is because it was a lot of snarky back and forth between them, which Katie and Jon are great at. The other reason is because Lex wasn’t heavily featured this episode. He has always worked better in smaller doses, and this goes to show me that it’s true.
Full disclosure, the Phantoms look terrible. They also remind me of another alien from something else, but I just can’t place it.
The Lena and Brainy conversation...wow. I loved this scene so bloody much. These two characters have always had a lot in common, and Katie and Jesse work really well with each other. The delivery, the callbacks, the everything. Lena telling Brainy that they were wrong about the “little boxes” was soooo good. Brainy finally breaking down and screaming and crying about how he felt was also soooooo good. Brainy crying “I miss her...” with Lena’s pregnant pause before her quietly responding “me too.” was just fantastic. This was tied for the best emotional scene of the episode. Just brillant.
J’onn, M’gann is your partner, not someone you can boss around. I wish we could have seen some of M’gann fighting against the Phantoms, but the emotional beats were really well done.
Speaking of, I hope M’gann is sticking around. I always loved her character when she appeared, and she does add some depth to the cast by being a Black woman. Maybe her and J’onn will be leaving together at some point, but I have a feeling she’s here for the whole season.
Alex and Brainy teaming up with Lena to fight the Phantoms? Chef’s kiss. Let them work together more often. They all have big brains but don’t handle emotions well.
It’s missing Nia hours. :(
I’m glad that CatCo wasn’t featured this episode. I love Nia and Andrea, but there would have no zero point of having them on screen this episode. The episode flowed really nicely because the focus was on 2 points of conflict, so it wasn’t spread too thin trying to fit everyone in. So yeah, I missed Nia this episode, but in the grander scheme of things it was the right move for her to not be there.
Kara’s story this week was kinda whatever. She had a few good moments, like when she was explaining her story to Nyxly. When her voice caught as she explained she thought “I-...we were the only survivors” was really wonderful. Melissa always knocks it out of the park when it comes to moments like this.
“I do hate you. I just love me more.” YASSS LENA, YOU BEAUTIFUL PERSON. This is the kind of women empowerment we expect from the show.
J’onn and M’gann’s conversation near the end of the episode was really sweet. I really how far these two have come from their original meeting, and they’re one of my favourite couples now.
M’gann and J’onn’s conversation also paralleled a conversation Lena and Kara had, in a way. J’onn apologies for, and I’m paraphrasing here, keeping M’gann at arm’s length emotionally, then says “we’re a team.” M’gann says back, “we already are.” I’m almost certain Lena and Supergirl/Kara had a similar conversation, but correct me if I am wrong.
Okay, the other Dansen moment. HOLY SMOKES. Everything about it was perfect. Kelly saying she wasn’t any help, Alex tearfully saying that Kelly SAVED HER. The fact that there has been no kisses this season and Dansen got the first one? Brilliant. Alex asking Kelly to move in with her because she wanted to share everything with Kelly had my heart melting. It was a really sweet Dansen moment that we really needed to see. Well done, Supergirl, well done. And well done to Chyler and Azie, because they really nailed that scene perfectly.
Anyway, that’s it for this week. I’ll catch all you later. Until then, see ya!!

hii what's your favorite little writing thing in poetry or literature? I'll go first: I love it when a character is summing up something and most of the things are just normal and there's one bonkers thing slipped in there. I also like unreliable narrators because it's like there are two stories, one is how the narrator wants it to be and one you have to kind of piece together yourself
-🌻anon
ooooh yeah i love both of those omg
AGH there are so many things omg,,, all my friends growing up were books rip so i have too many 😭
okay there’s probably some weird word for this i will learn in lit class but i love it when authors use words that aren’t supposed to describe something to describe it?? like i love it so fucking much
second is when the author like, uses the setting to convey what’s going on with the characters,,,like in richard siken’s little beast the first part he uses the setting of the night to show the character UGH i love it sm
also this isn’t a little thing but i fucking love dialogue. it’s my favourite thing to write and my favourite thing to read. you learn so much more abt the characters and aaaaagh i love it, i love writing their dynamics sm
also, second person pov is v v interesting if it’s done well. i remember as a kid i read a short story with that pov, the name escapes me? it was about the son of a mexican immigrant in us who played basketball over the summer in a gym and it was VERY well written, so yes second person pov done well is *chefs kiss,* as chloe says.
ALSO ALSO ALSO when the authors doesn’t outright like, say a lesson but you gotta learn it yourself? i hate shit where stories are like “he was greedy and he faced the consequences, don’t be greedy!” i will kill on SIGHT. fucking make it more subtle and use other shit when it’s done well it’s really good
also i love like, callbacks + parallels? like when something happens earlier in the book and then the characters develop and events occur anf the *same thing* happens, but now it’s with developed characters and a changed world and UGH my heartttttt
anyways. sorry i kinda went off rip i just love literature + poetry

For the writer asks! - 5, 8, 14, 19 and 20 💖
ahh, thank you!! ٩(◕‿◕)۶💖
meta asks:
5. What character that youre writing do you most identify with?
I'm primarily writing for JJK (& a bit of Haikyuu!! too) atm, so I'd have to say Megumi. He's always struck me as a more introverted character than broody or stoic; he's pragmatic but has moments where emotion overrides his logic, cares so much about his few close family/friends, and is developing confidence in himself/his abilities, all of which I can definitely relate to. Also, we both think Yuuji is the epitome of goodness and sunshine, so there's that lol.
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
Overall, yeah! Sometimes I get in a mood for some light angst, but not often, which is why the majority of my fic is hurt/comfort and fluff. I also enjoy reading long fic, as well as fantasy AUs (I'm actually a huge sucker for pirate/mermaid AUs!), though I don't really write them myself anymore.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
Oof, usually at the end right before posting. Very rarely do titles make themselves known to me beforehand or during a fic. I usually just browse through my pretty words tag until I find something that feels right lol. I think plant kisses like seeds and love's only demand is that we fall are the only titles that were 100% known before the fic(s) were written.
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
For sure! Y'all know I love tropes like first kisses, friends-to-lovers, sharing a bed, and nightmare-induced h/c. I've written a couple of fics using some variant of the phrase "hands out in front of [them] like [they're] placating a wild thing", because the symbolism of earning the trust of a frightened creature in relation to emotionally fragile characters is just *chefs kiss* to me, and I know I use "startled out of [their] reverie" a lot. I give a lot of attention to describing heartbeats and eyes too, I think. (Sometimes I get a little too in my head about it when I realize I'm reusing the same tropes/adjectives/phrasing but I figure that's just my writing style.)
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Ugh, I wish I could answer this question for LOD because I could probably ramble about that for a while, but since it's not published yet I hope this is okay! I remember writing this section of on purpose, i love him and wondering if anyone would catch on to the double-meaning:
Love is the greatest curse of all, he remembers Gojo saying once, not directed at Megumi but hollow beneath his breath as if he were reminding himself, and although his eyes had been covered Megumi could tell his gaze was far away, focused on some distant memory that he couldn’t begin to imagine. Of all the lessons Gojo’s taught him over the years, this is the one that Megumi understands best.
He fell in love with a dead man, after all. The fact that he manages to return doesn’t make that fact any less true. Still, despite knowing this can only end in tragedy, Megumi chooses Itadori anyway. Grabs on with a white-knuckled grip and refuses to let go no matter the inevitable agony because Megumi’s a sorcerer and sorcerers exist to exorcise curses and Itadori Yuuji the boy deserves to be loved wholly.
Which is that Megumi, as a sorcerer, intends to exorcise the "curse" of love by allowing himself to love Yuuji unconditionally (Idk if that makes sense??). Also, it's a bit of a parallel to SatoSugu's relationship, though ItaFushi's is (hopefully) headed for a better endgame.

Thomceit Hamilton AU Cast
Alrighty, here it is- the post about my Thomceit Hamilton AU that I took like three days to write, hoo boy-
Okay so, this is just the cast of the AU and also just going into some ship ramblings because if I got into the whole thing now, we’d be here for days- so let’s get on with it!
----
The Sanders Sides Characters Roles
~Just to clarify, I’m doing this TS Universe by TS Universe, because there’s a LOT of characters in both fandoms, so the cast are gonna be updated with each reblog~
Alexander Hamilton: Janus
Why? Well, the colour theme’s for the album match Janus’ general colour aesthetic, Janus is all about taking that chance no matter what and Alex is all about not throwing away his shot, both have got that lawyer association aaaaaaaand I’m just kidding, I wanted to make a Thomceit Helpless animatic in the August of 2019- I never had any plans for this thing, it just happened.
But yeah- dramatic snake boy lawyer meets dramatic Founding Father lawyer-
----
The Schuyler Sisters:
Angelica: Roman
Roman just radiates fabulous, feminist, older sibling vibes- just imagine him in Angelica’s dress but a bit more red and you’ve got it down!
Satisfied also radiates Roman vibes- the pink-red colour scheme, the sacrifice, the longing and pining- it all works so well for him! I can also imagine him in Congratulations- especially with the lines ‘He doesn’t dignify schoolyard taunts with a response!’, ‘...Sacrifice?’ and ‘Eliza~ is the BEST thing in our lives!’ especially since I’m making Thomas Eliza here, because, in some cases, it really parallels what actually happened in the series:
Roman sacrificed the thing he most wanted (Janus/the callback) for Thomas (Eliza/his core) because he wanted what was best for him and what was right for him- and in both cases, he was wrong! My boy either doesn’t get to chase his dreams and feels miserable about it, or he gets cheated on and feels miserable about it- there’s no winning here! (Can you tell that I felt no remorse whilst writing this? /hj)
Also, I thought the line 'He doesn’t dignify schoolyard taunts with a response!’ didn’t really apply to Janus when I initially made this, but HOO BOY was I wrong-
Eliza: Thomas
Can you tell that Thomceit is my favourite ship? No? You can’t? Well I’m just about to take off the blindfold you’re wearing and talk about much of an amazing husband Thomas would be-
First though, I have to say, Thomas gives off such Eliza vibes on his own anyways- cinnamon bun that needs to be protected and has gone through a lot? Uh, yes!
Thomas would absolutely be the type to fall head over heels for a cute guy he saw across the room (I mean we all saw FWSA, right?). He'd see Janus and be all 'Wait, frick, handsome boy- what do I do- ROMAN-' and I love that so much.
Ironically though, Hamilton was the one who really fell hard, historically at least, so the fact that in this AU Thomas falls like Eliza did but in the 'canon' Janus and Hamilton are both the actual simps is hilarious to me-
He would totally be the supportive partner he was always meant to be- assuring Janus everything will turn out fine and being sweet and caring like he always is.
On the flip side. Thomas is probably one of the only characters who would actually bite back when cheated on too. Patton is a great option for Eliza, but because Patton is associated the most with nostalgia as a character, I don't think he'd be burning any letters any time soon, he'd hold on to those memories- but Thomas would probably burn the letters as soon as he got the chance, in order to try and forget everything- to burn all the memories. Also, I just wanna see Thomas raging at Janus in First Burn- can you imagine how badass he would be? The passion and fury radiating from him in that song would be just *chef's kiss* incredible!
And here's the strongest argument I have: Eliza is the person who tells the story, of Hamilton, of the soldiers, of Washington- and who is responsible for telling us what goes on in the TS Universe?
Thomas.
I rest my case! (There wasn't one to begin with but shhhh)
(Also, Hamilton and Eliza had 8 kids, and we all know Thomas is the tired mother of 6 children-)
And Peggy (hah): Remus
The main reason for this is, as I'm sure you can guess, because I made Roman Angelica. I mean, how could I not make Remus Peggy? I do have some legitimate reasons though.
Peggy has always been given the chaotic younger sister energy in the fandom, basically the Gen Z child- and Remus embodies Gen Z's chaos perfectly, it's honestly kind of scary. Remus would absolutely be the sibling who's just there to vibe and cause chaos, but would totally be there to help if you wanted it.
The problem here, is that Peggy is constantly asking about the girls' father in Schuyler Sisters, and worrying about consequences- which is not a Remus thing at ALL, but I can imagine Remus asking those questions like '👀 So what's the dealio?' And then being delighted at the responses that come from the others like 'YEAH- Let's break the rules!'
Peggy was also very good friends with Hamilton historically, and we all know Janus and Remus are best friends (that's not canon, but it is now)!
So- Peggy and Remus! Let's go!
----
The Hamilsquad (Sides! Edition):
Aaron Burr: Logan
Logan is the most logical (hah) character to play Burr in my opinion:
Burr kills Hamilton, and Logan is probably the only Side who could actually defeat Janus in some way (Logic overcrowds the lies and reasons its way out of them), and if having a presence and some control got Janus to sink down, then what would happen to Janus if he Logan had full control?
Logan, like Burr, wants to be in the Room Where it Happened- he wants to be listened to- that's self-explanatory, but what gets interesting to me is the waiting ideology both of them have.
We all know Burr waits for opportunities- he had a whole song on it! But what people tend to forget is that Logan has also waited for chances and holds back opinions- the best example would be in LNTAO, where he admits to Thomas that he's been holding back his opinions for far too long and that he doesn't think people take Thomas seriously enough.
That 'wait for the right moment attitude' is instilled in both of them- and while Janus also partially has that attitude, he's also got a 'Leap for the chance and take it' attitude- which is why I can imagine him telling Logan 'You get love for it, you get hate for it- you get nothing if you wait for it' and 'What do you want Burr?'
He'd be the one to ask 'When are you finally going to take a stand and say "I want to be heard?" When are you going to take the chance?'
John Laurens: Virgil
Virgil's role as Laurens is mainly because of symbolism- the idea that you had these two great friends who were in it together, and one of them left (either this life or the Others) and that tore them apart in one way or the other.
Also, Laurens and Hamilton were hiding something- those letters said A LOT, and Jan and Virge act like two ex-boyfriends, like what is this-
----
Theodosia Sr.: Patton
This may just be my Logicality heart screaming, but I think this makes sense- Theodosia always gave off a sweet, soft motherly energy even though we never see her on screen or hear her voice. From what he heard about her, she seemed to be the loving mother character (Eliza was more the loving wife and widow figure, but she did have motherly traits for sure), and we all know Patton would rock the loving mother figure role- there isn't really much more to it.
----
I think that's all I can really say on the Sides characters' roles! There's gonna be more to this but this is a lot as it is, and I wanted to get this done ASAP.
So ye! I hope you enjoyed reading this and are looking forward about what's to come!

Supernatural s5
I finished it a little while ago, but I haven’t had the time to make an involved post about it -or watch that much of s6 yet; I’m trying to be Resposible and the time I have has been spent in advancing fics a little bit or answering short asks lol.
-I have really enjoyed this season for the most part, but there’s something I need to get of my chest LOL: all through it, the song “Too Many Dicks (On The Dance Floor)” played in my head xDD. Like, listen, I knew what I was signing up for with this show!! I didn’t expect NOT to find it offensive or regressive on multiple occasions!! But I guess s3-4 must have spoiled me lmao. I’m not saying those seasons are the height of feminism, but if you removed its most important female characters, ESPECIALLY Ruby, the plot of the season would fall apart. That’s not something you can say for s5 and preventing the Apocalypse, just sayin’.
It wouldn’t’ve been that hard to expand Meg’s, Anna’s or the Harvelle’s part (they had good material to go there -Meg as the faithful possibly opening her eyes, Anna as the betrayed and the juror jury and executioner, the Harvelles as normal hunters fighting something way too big for them-, but barely any time and like I said, no incidence in the actual plot of the season). Hell, I’m biased but bringing back Ruby would’ve at least taken care of the problem lol. Or if the show had indulged me and kept Bellamy Young as Lucifer, at least. But everyone with a real say in the plot is a dude, or at least wearing one as a vessel (angel’s conception of gender is clearly different from humans, but in terms of ~~representation the results are the same lbr).
-My constant frustrations with Supernatural’s bigotry-related stuff lol, like I said, I really enjoyed the season (that combination is one of the most frustrating things about the show lmao). Especially Castiel’s plot. The guy has reached Potential Hall of Faves status and that’s hum. A Problem xD
But seriously, he was breaking my heart in all the best ways. His search for God (the Absent Father that the show specifically compared to John añsldkfjasf. This show ISTG!!), his disappointment and sense of betrayal at being let down (he called God Himself “son of a bitch”!!!). I was especially fascinated by his Endverse version -that AU will have its own section lol-, although it resulted in making me reaaaally nervous whenever he was close to an addictive substance :). Like yes, those scenes were lowkey humourous and adorable (like when he drinks shots with the Harvelles and Ellen is fascinated and Jo delighted -... lowkey shipping this too btw. Lowkey shipping Castiel with lots of people-, or his combo with Sam when he got drunk), but also, you know, WORRYING xD
Some of my favourite scenes of his were, predictably, his interactions with Meg or Lucifer in 5x10. The Megstiel scene was SUPER HOT (both their voices are very unf-y lol), I can’t wait to edit it. And having Lucifer call Castiel “a peculiar thing” sure was something xD (although lbr, this Lucifer isn’t keeping with his rebel angel reputation, Castiel is carrying that all by himself smh).
Another scene I couldn’t get out of my head if I wanted to is when he uhhhh... completely LOSES IT and starts beating the crap out of Dean when he was ready to give it up to Michael. “I gave everything for you, and this is what you give me?!?” ooooooof. It was hard to watch, and fascinating and intense. I shamelessly loved it lmfao.
Though my favourite moment of his is one that can only be appreciated when you know certain things about s6. It’s the scene where, unlike everyone else, he shows appreciation for Sam’s plan of sacrificing himself to get rid of Lucifer. Because yes, at this point it’s the only thing that can save the world. But Castiel isn’t saying, “Sam’s life is a small price to pay in comparison”, because he will go into s6 and snatch Sam out of the cage immediately. s5 established Sam got out, so with that in mind, he didn’t bring it up because he didn’t want to create false hope in case he failed, but he backed the plan with the intention of saving Sam anyway. I love that. I love him.
-The entire season was Missing Ruby Hours for me lmfao. Like I said, some of the problems in the season wrt female characters would’ve been at the very least lessened if she’d gotten to be here wrecking havoc. But generally I just miss her and What Could Have Been with her here. I enjoyed some of the crumbs (Sam using the witchcraft skillz he learned from her! Sam immediately knowing Meg isn’t Ruby, unlike Dean! Her knife! The ARCHANGEL GABRIEL referencing her as “the demon Sam chose over his brother”!! The callbacks with Crowley or Brady!!), but I would’ve wanted her here, dammit xD.
-Aaaaand we’re finally getting to Sam, who is without a doubt the star of the season, if you ask me. His plan at the end, to let Lucifer possess him in the hopes he can fight back for just long enough to overpower him and throw them both into the cage, with no hopes for himself? This is the kind of Big Damn Hero stunt I’m a sucker for, I won’t lie. And I love that the show felt the need to confirm he was still alive at the end of the season hehe.
He really Went Through It this season and he held on lmfao. On top of everything (the apocalypse, the guilt of being its final trigger, the addiction recovery, etc.), he also had to deal with Dean’s usual bullshit, which is no small feat xDD. Like, sure, from an audience stand-point all those things are interesting (some fave/the fuck moments are when Dean is obviously peeved that Bobby still supports Sam because he wanted Bobby in HIS corner, or when he has the nerve to say he wants to say yes to Michael because he doesn’t trust SAM not to say yes to Lucifer lmfaoooo), BUT IT’S STILL A FEAT XD
One note: for all the talk about bi!Dean, bi!Sam is so SEEN this season xDD. AFAIC he totally hooked up with that bartender Paul (RIP Paul. At least in your last moments you enjoyed Sam, who’s clearly an energetic, attentive lover 😔). And Crowley refers to Brady as Sam’s demon ex-boyfriend and nobody bats and eye lmfao (that story is so angsty... the parallels to Ruby, how he ingratiated himself with Sam by pretending to have fallen off the wagon... ouch).
-I have mixed feelings on Crowley. On his own, I fell absolutely in love with the guy on his first appearance. A demon that DOUBTS Lucifer and doesn’t kiss his ass?? That wants to get rid of him and do his own thing?? And clearly enjoys ~earthly pleasures to the fullest (his complains about how the other demons ate his tailor had me rolling laksjdfa)? The way he turned the tables on Brady? OFC I love him. OTOH boy, does it annoy me knowing that fandom GLADLY embraced him when they condemned characters like Bela or Ruby for similar things. It’s not his fault so I still like him (he’s like Gabriel in that sense), but it’s annoying!
It also annoys me how Dean Must Be Right All The Time syndrome interacts with him lol. This season Dean decides they can trust Crowley (despite Crowley killing two humans in front of him and getting him beat up by Brady lol), so they can. Next season he decides they can’t, so Castiel will be WrongTM because Dean Says So. Ugggggh xD
-To be fair, however, this season has my fave Dean so far LOL. In the love/hate scale, this one has been almost solely in camp love, barring some of those moments of irksome hypocrisy that he’s so prone to xD.
But there was something about how this season’s plot chipped away at him, you know? For all the traits he has that drive me up the wall or unsettle me, I appreciate a lot of his personality because it makes him a unique and interesting character driving the narrative -his irreverence, his ability to think on the fly and get out of shitty situations, his disbelief. Seeing all of those things under siege this season made me hurt for him in a way I hadn’t anticipated LOL. By the time he was ready to give in to Michael (and I love that what made him step away from that choice was Sam showing a trust in him he patently didn’t deserve lbr), sometimes I felt terribly for the guy.
I also wonder if this season kind of marked like... the beginning of the end for him, narrative-wise? Making him Michael’s vessel (his angel condom) is the kind of thing that turns him from subject into object, and that can doom characters ime. The fact that he ~resigns himself to Sam’s death when his identity as a character came with being His Brother’s Keeper is another slight.
-I continue having mixed feelings about Destiel too LMAO. I’ve decided I’m just going to try to enjoy the good and interesting parts while I can, while trying not to think of future developments that’ll likely sour the ship for me lol.
Because in truth, yeah, I enjoy their interactions a lot here! The Endverse was particularly enjoyable for me (back to that in a moment), but the entire season had a lot of gems. That moment in the finale, when Dean is wounded on his knees after Sam sacrifices himself, and Castiel resurrects and heals him with a touch? And Dean is staring in awe and asks him if he’s become God?? Like wtf am I supposed to do with that. WHO SAYS THAT. XDD
-The Endverse. Omgggggggg. The Endverse. I doubt I can say anything about it that hasn’t been said a thousand times, but seriously. I loooove it, all of it. My favourite was endverse!Castiel, ofc. The way he was in No Man’s Land, not an angel and not quite a human, his ways of trying to cope with that, how burned he was... I uncomfortably related to some of it too lmfao, but let’s not get into that xD.
Seeing both Deans interact was gr10 too. They really couldn’t stand each other lmfao (do you understand me now Dean?? They actually reminded me of two OCs in an original WIP of mine that are in a similar situation -in this case it’s the future version purposefully traveling to the past though-, which made me even fonder of the AU). And the Destiel? *chef’s kiss*. The bitterness, like when Castiel laughs when present!Dean berates endverse!Dean about the tortures and then purposefully says “I like past you” to hurt him asñldkfjasf. Or those looks when Dean returns to the past and tells Castiel to “never change” d’aw.
I loved Lucifer!Sam in this episode too (and personally, I think in the finale Lucifer -and Michael- should’ve changed his outfit too. Sam’s clothes just don’t get to The Devil’s levels, but that white suit was perfect). He was terrifying xD.
BTW: I’ve decided that, since we never see endverse!Castiel die, well. He didn’t xD. I could see Lucifer keeping him alive and captive out of a sense of nostalgia, as Castiel is the only other thing close to a fellow angel left. Might even decide to return his powers with time, or to ~entice him with such an offer lol. And ofc I headcanon Sam is still inside, occasionally trying to fight. Cue in all the Castiel/Lucifer and Castiel/Sam fic ideas too (I have waaaaay too many of those for this mini-verse. It’s very inspiring).
-I’m still on the fence at Lucifer’s motivations but I can’t question how the family issues fit so, so well into this ‘verse. “Family is hell” is the show’s thesis, after all xD. IMO the angels in general don’t feel like a family, they’re a military body/cult lol, but the Archangels are another matter. I guess is the whole “only four angels have seen God-slash-Dad” thing, the rest were... well, the help, apparently.
But Lucifer, Michael, and Gabriel do feel like brothers when they interact (I’m guessing here Gabriel is the Adam: discarded by the other two like nothing :)))). Raphael too, but since he doesn’t interact with them... does he get to later? Or is he the odd one out? Did the others avoid him because he kept quoting Nietzsche at dinner?? LOL.
-There are no words to explain how terribly I feel for Adam. JFC that poor KID. Who was kind and helpful and intuitive, and only wanted his mother back and to help stop the end of the world. And that Sam and Dean will leave rotting in Hell for a millennia :))). It’s kiiiiiiiiind of hard to do for your show’s “heroes” when they do shit like that lmfao. It’d be different if they never tried to make him feel he’s family, but Sam tried to convince him with the bs “because we’re blood” and they did a half-baked attempt at saving him from Zacharias, and then... yeah. At least he had Michael in the cage, but still.
-I was already spoiled of this, but the reveal that cupids made John and Mary fall in love is so chilling (good on Dean for punching that cupid asshole, btw). It puts what Mary says about John in flashbacks, about how much she loves him and how perfect he is, in such a terrifying light. And I’m under the impression that the show didn’t bother to deal with this properly when they resurrected Mary and just... I hate that tbh. It’s a narrative choice that should have a huuuge impact, dammit.
-I kind of loved how bitter and angry Bobby was about (temporarily, thanks to Crowley, his new demon bf -watch out Rufus) ending up in a wheelchair. That there were no platitudes or false sentimentality and it just... was.
-The Harvelles’ had a good send off. I can respect Kripke for wanting his faves to go on his terms lol. Having Jo refuse Dean’s offer of a fuck on their possible last night on Earth with “I rather spent it with a little thing I have self-respect”? Not because she doesn’t have feelings for him, but because she thinks she deserves better from him? I love it. This guy knows his pettiness xD
-The fact that this fandom seems to have ignored Gabriel x Kali is one of the reasons I’m never going to vibe with it, sns. Immortal exes? Check. She tricked him and killed him... but then it turns out HE tricked and he’s alive? Check. BUT THEN HE STILL GOES BACK AND SAVES HER, DYING BY HIS BROTHER’S HAND?? CHECK CHECK CHECK. Ugh, why can’t they come back to me. I know, I know, Kali is a WoC and those are only allowed one (1) appearance before they’re killed off, apparently. So it might be a good thing that she doesn’t return xD. But gosh, they were gr10.
-Death the Horseman’s intro cleared my skin. I love him. I love how utterly terrifying he is and how chilling his and Dean’s scene was. And I yearn to find a picture of the guy a little younger and with a goatee, because he’s the most perfect Discworld’s Vetinari fancast I’ve ever found xDD
-I’ve seen tons of commentary over the years, and especially lately for obvious reasons, about how this season finale would’ve been a much better ending for the show. I’m not there yet, and it does sound like the finale was a mess and this one’s was a very well constructed episode (and, ofc, the Final Love Interest was NOT blurry!!). But even if by the end I come to loathe the finale, there’s one reason I already know won’t let me agree on the s5 ending being perfect: God xDD
The episode makes Chuck come across as a ~benevolent figure and no, fuck that, do NOT want, take it away from me!! Give me God as the Big Bad Wolf, the last evil to conquer any day. It’s like Dumbledore all over again: I enjoy the character a lot more if I feel canon and I are on the same page wrt his shadiness xDD

anyway, that wasn’t even the juiciest part of the episode. we got:
the scene on the log between negan and daryl, where negan is like “i don’t think she’s coming” and daryl looks like a kicked puppy
imaginary!alpha saying “remember how you lost all these ppl?” and carol being like “yeah, that was a bummer” and then she’s like “and you could lose daryl” and carol is immediately all “SHUT THE HELL YOUR MOUTH”
once again, carol is the Only one who has verbalized the thought that daryl likes connie. she seems rather stuck on the idea
eugene and stephanie parallels to caryl, in that eugene is like “i recognize this may end badly, but i’m willing to play the fool and try” meanwhile imaginary!alpha says “no one is ever gonna forgive you, esp daryl” and carol is like “maybe you’re right, but i’m willing to play the fool and try”
(speaking of parallels, i find it interesting that the episode where beta loses alpha is the episode carol decides to return to alexandria/daryl. re: foils. more on that in a separate post later mb)
“what do you want? say it?” did you notice? how she never?? said it??? bc the implication was supposed to be “i want to die” but by the end, she chooses to live. and we have empirical, canon proof that what carol desires most is a chill domestic life with daryl, re: dream
(btw, callback to s2 when daryl asks carol “what do you want?” and she says “a man of honor” -thinking emoji-)
The Absolute Tension at the gate, hoo boy. this is some serious edging
and then ofc there’s the lovely line “it’s never too late”
it’s never too late, my dudes
ten years isn’t too late
we still have time
(side note: that’s a super poignant and important line, but every time i think of it i think of the 30 rock episode/song “it’s never too late for now” and it’s going to stuck in my head forever, thnx twd)
anyway, i am suuuuuper glad i avoided the q&a, bc it seems like y’all hit the ground faster than a horse on twd
i’ll prob word vomit more later, bc it’s me and that’s what i do, but for now i gotta get ready for work
so i’ll just say that while that episode wasn’t as explicit as we may have wanted or hoped (which was always a possibility), it was still -chefs kiss-
stay hype, stan kang, and get daryl to call carol sweetheart 2k20,
-diz

Welcome to Bardo (& Nakara)
So I FINALLY feel like the season is picking up on the story in Season 7 (thank god) and the lull of the first few episodes—excluding the brilliance of episode 2 The Garden bc I LOVE my found family of Diyoza, Hope and Auntie O—to set the scene is starting to build and pay off.
As always there are so many different storylines, this season taking place across 4(!!) different planets, but as it seems to be the general consensus my fav plot is exploring the mystery of Bardo and the anomaly. I’ve been genuinely surprised at how much I’ve liked the Echo/Hope/Gabriel dynamic (until Echo’s newfound rage killing spree) and adding Octavia/Diyoza to the mix this past episode is *chef’s kiss*. I’m a little annoyed at how Clarke has been sidelined so far this season but I’m hoping (and assuming) that she will be back in the main spotlight when her group reaches Bardo (hopefully next episode) and combines forces with the Bardo “rescue” crew (lol they haven’t really had many successful rescues yet). I’m HIGH KEY annoyed at the lack of Bellamy of course, but even though I’m positive he isn’t actually dead it’s still frustrating for him to be off-screen. I hope Clarke breaks down when she finds out he’s supposedly dead (pls from Octavia) and everyone can see how much she loves and cares for him—sensing a callback to her conversation with Raven this episode “how do you do it? you never break” (or maybe that was foreshadowing...). Loved that moment btw. So glad Princess Mechanic was forced to talk one-on-one this episode and get to a mutual understanding and hopefully a step closer toward friendship. I would have loved even more heartfelt confessions and bonding between them (like if Clarke admitted when she did almost break ie. alone on Earth and in both situations with Bellamy and Madi) but I know there’s only so much time in the episode *sigh*.
I can’t even break down the shitshow going on in Sanctum... I’ve been against the whole repetitive narrative of “us” v “them” factions that don’t seem to have any common sense and focus on petty fights rather than understanding the greater problem at hand (I know they aren’t aware of it yet but like chill out and get along for a few days ffs). Although Insta is absolutely BOSS and the perfect leader in Clarke’s absence. I also loved Madi’s protective aunt and uncles (Emori, Murphy and Jackson). Wow what a beautiful, dysfunctional delinquent family all grown up *sheds tear*. Can they all be back together at the farmhouse having another picnic already? Pls.
Anyways... super excited about the Second Dawn connection. Since it was confirmed that Cadogan and his bunker crew used the anomaly stone on Earth to travel to Bardo after the first apocalypse (makes sense that one cult transforms into another) I’m thinking that Eligius 3 were the “native Bardoans” because their mission left several years before the first apocalypse. Maybe they didn’t figure out how to survive? Or maybe Cadogan came and killed them and just passed down a retold version of history? Oooo I could totally see that with all the previous warped versions of history that made it to future generations.
Still holding out hope for Bellarke since we’re still in the first half of the season. In the meantime I’ll be sitting here patiently anxiously waiting for their inevitably beautiful reunion. The longest they’ve ever been separated before—other than the 2,199 day time jump—was 6 episodes in episode 3 (between 3x05 and 3x11). All other separations have been shorter or else they were at least communicating (via the radio in season 2) or sharing the screen (even though Clarke was Josephine most of season 6). Fingers crossed for that reunion in episode 7 or 9 (8 is the backdoor pilot for the prequel). However, the more Bellamy is MIA from the story, the more I’m thinking he might somehow be the anomaly stormtrooper who grabbed Gaia before breaking the anomaly Stone. Plus I could see the writers totally giving us another “surprise bitch it’s Bellamy” moment of revealing himself from a helmet just like they will (probably) have another Clarke pulling a lever to save the world moment. Gotta love those parallels!!
P.S. I freaking LOVE Levitt and totally ship him and Octavia. Although I’m still loving Gabriel and would love him with her too... idk maybe I’m leaning more towards Levitt because Octavia deserves a man who treats her like a queen. Speaking of queens... who do we think the queen is in next episode “The Queen’s Gambit”. Clarke? She was literally shown as the queen in Sheidheda’s chess game with that subtle transition, but she wasn’t shown in the preview for next week. I actually googled “gambit” because I wasn’t sure what it meant lol but I found it’s either “a device, action, or opening remark, typically entailing a degree of risk that is calculated to gain an advantage” or specifically in chess as “an opening in which a player makes a sacrifice (typically a pawn) for the sake of some compensating advantage.” Well shit now I’m overthinking again. I wonder which plot line this is referring to? If it’s Clarke’s it could be her grand entrance to Bardo to showdown with Anders—like she just takes the risk and storms in guns a blazing to save her friends and shows the disciples the bad bitch she is. Or it could be referencing the chess game methaphor and she has to sacrifice someone (in the Nakara crew??) to gain an advantage over Anders... Based on the preview it seems like Emori could be the pawn sacrificed in the chess game that’s currently taking place in Sanctum—pls god don’t let that happen. Or maybe Emori is the queen since she’s playing the false god as a Prime and she makes some kind of sacrifice to gain back control of Sanctum for our heroes. The obvious option seems to be Clarke because she’s been referenced as the queen so many times in the show and has been positioned as the queen on the chess game metaphorically with Bellamy serving as her Knight/King. Idk anymore. My brain hurts.
