#the 100 season 7

So I just finished season 7 for the first time and I must know- does the Fandom collectively agree to pretend this season doesn't exist?? Bc I feel like doing that. I don't understand half the choices and I know this show has always had weird issues, but I actually loved it more on this rewatch than the first time i watched it years ago. But season 7 just felt like such a mess.

Hi. Why do you think 7 season of the 100 went so bad? What happend?
Frankly, I've been thinking about it for three years and I'm still short of a good answer. I cannot believe that this has been the design for the moral of this story from the beginning, because it doesn't make any sense and has nothing to do with the plot or the characters' journey throughout the years. Never mind the fact that this has never been a deus-ex-machina aliens shows 🤦‍♀️
Honestly, the only thing that ever made sense to me was, well, spite.
Jason used Bob's unavailability to punish him, Eliza and the entire fandom for--being there for the show since the beginning, basically. They dared to momentarily divert attention from his brilliance and we were a little too smart and figured out where the story was going too well. And instead of being happy that we were so devoted to the show and to the story, he got his ego hurt. It's not a rational thing and it's not how grown-ups should behave in grown-up situations but here we are. I genuinely believe that this turn into the unexpected was Jason's way of proving that we ain't as clever as we thought we were. I mean, hands up, who guessed that ending?!
Also, actor's temporary unavailability is a shitty reason to kill off a character and every time that happens, I become enraged. Actors have stuff going on all the time. They get pregnant, they get other gigs, they get ill, break bones and go to rehab all the damn time. The writers do know how to get around that. Teen Wolf worked Dylan O'Brien leaving into a pretty fricking fantastic story in 6A. NCIS: Los Angeles worked Miguel Ferrer literally dying into the plot and give his character a touching send-off.
Choosing to use this opportunity to enact revenge and prove that you are the overlord isn't just childish, it's stupid. But at least, he seems to be paying for that now. His prequel got scrapped faster than you can say "ha-ha" and I haven't even heard a whisper about a new project, which is well and truly deserved.
So, to sum up this long-winded tirade, I think what happened was bruised ego. Which the most moronic reason for wrecking shit up I've ever heard of.

The fact we went from, "If Bellamy knows that Clarke is dead, then all of this will be for nothing," to Clarke shooting Bellamy because he was supporting the people torturing Maddie and their people, just goes to show how badly they botched the last season

the 100 is placed on an appropriate list, was surprised to see it was only at ten but the other ending were really bad so I guess I get it. the 100 ended terribly and it should go down in History as one of the worst endings so it feels really good to see that happen.

When I started watching The 100 I thought it was going to be like a normal survival show where it focused on the 100 teens surviving all on their own as the only people currently on earth (and no one else) and the focus would be on their struggles to survive, finding and growing their own food, finding a water source and if that water source runs out or gets contaminated find a new one or figure out how to purify it, fight and kill hostile beasts that attack them, kill off harmful insects, dealing with their people getting sick and curing them while also focusing on relationship stuff between the characters.
Comparing my past expectations to all the shit that happened up to season 7… I can say this show got really insane and I was not expecting it.

Besties I think I figured out why im so bitter about the 100 now that I've finished it and it's because I actually enjoyed a lot of the scenes as they were, it's just the plot of s7 itself which sucked and there were so many things that ended up being pointless
But there were a lot of character scenes and interactions that, on their own and away from the plot, were good. Maybe it's because of how much I love the characters in this show but I liked seeing so many of them interact. There were obviously certain character things I didn't like and they did some of them so dirty, but overall a lot of the scenes still had heart to them and I can't help but like them
It's just when you bring in the plot itself that it became stupid

What if Echo was just Jason Rothenberg’s projection of himself onto the 100’s universe and he was so awful to Bellamy and Bob Morley because he, like Echo, is toxic and in love with Bellamy, and he killed Bellamy’s character because he refuses to deal with his internalized homophobia and the resulting self-loathing?

I can't shake the feeling that the reason JRoth had Bellamy clean shaven in his final episodes is because so many people said that the s5+ bearded version was a 'different character', he wanted to make extra sure we knew he was killing our beloved Bellamy. Which is just--extra.

I’m so disappointed in Bellamy for converting to this cult that worships some dude named Bill. He should know better than this😔
