Annual Physical Exam done! When we got #sober, husband's been more conscious about our family's health in all aspects, making sure we exercise at least 30 min everyday and go to our annual PE. Thanks to our ABSFI & Strider Vantage Corporation family, we get annual check ups at little to no cost every year (God bless our boss's good heart ❤️). Our society doesn't talk about emotions. It makes people feel uncomfortable. It's seen as a weakness. It's actually not, it's brave. The alternative is hiding or running. . I watched yesterday in slow motion the blame show play out. Even though I'm armed with the knowledge I still, in the heat of the moment I go into self-defense mode and come back to counter attack. 🤦‍♀ . . I can keep the perspective of not blaming others but I really struggle when I am under attack and don't have time to think things through. . . The one thing about having a child that has a complex diagnosis is you go through a never ending grief cycle. This is the perfect place for shame, guilt, and anger to visit on a regular basis. Having the awareness that the tides roll in and roll out can steady me. When guilt over stays it's welcome: I really like to replay my should haves, and could haves over and over. I got my sweet boy back! He said mom let's paint! What!?! Reminded me of so many times we used to create together until one day a teacher said he didn't follow directions on his art project and gave him a bad grade. 🤦‍♀ He completely stopped. No matter what I said it didn't matter because that fear of failure was just enough to keep him from trying. Today was different. It was like he got that it's ok to make mistakes. (Yes, yes yes!!!) Nothing has ever been as hard as finding the line between wanting to guide and allowing my child to make their own mistakes.
