This is such nonsense I can’t even believe. It’s not surprising ABC has “no comment” but the fact that the majority of the article is comparing 911 and Station 19’s ratings (from two different networks that have clearly different budgets) and act like two fire shows can’t exist on the same network is just insanity. These two shows can both be on ABC. Why is it one or the other? Why do they feel the need to bump out a show that’s been on their network for years and doing well with a show that has all of their success on another network and what they do on ABC is unknown. It literally makes zero sense. They could’ve put 911 on another night and see how both shows do and get more revenue at the same time. But instead Station 19 gets screwed and for what? And to bring up BTS showrunner drama as if that’s even an issue? They clearly decided on who would move forward as the new showrunners and the plan was made before any of this cancellation idea came to be. Just ABC grasping at straws because they know their decision makes no sense whatsoever. It’s not a coincidence Ryan Murphy was mentioned either.

If y’all wanna know the crux of why a lot of the fandom hate the comics just look at the response to Patterns in Time. That comic was:
- Advertised as anthology from the moment it was announced
- Stated to feature multiple stories with different LOK characters
- Not part of the main storyline of comics (despite still being canon)
And yet there are dozens of complaints I’ve seen about how it “wasn’t focused enough on Korrasami/Korra/etc.”
The comics are killed by poor, uniformed, and often outlandish expectations or predictions that fans tell themselves will happen until they accept nothing else. Patterns in Time, being a harmless anthology collection of small stories, isn’t even immune to this. The fans completely misread ANY and ALL information about the comic, had several delays’ worth of time to figure that out, and STILL got angry because of their own misjudgment.
Does this apply to the main-line comics? Abso-fucking-lutely. People are so sickeningly attached to their own expectations as to what will happen to characters (especially secondary, non-main protagonist characters) that when any aspect of the canon story differs, its “bad writing.” Even more similar is people who legitimately thought it was a fatal flaw to North and South Part 1 that Aang was on the cover despite not being in the comic. It’s easy to have realistic expectations if you’re paying any attention at all. Unfortunately, that’s not the forte of this fandom.

So tired of constantly being the middle of this constant drama that I have little- to nothing to do with.
Sweet lord All-fucking-mighty, solve your own problems. I know I’ve said I’d be there for you but when it’s the two hundred and fifty eleventh time you bring it up, I really can’t help you anymore. Clearly, you need the expertise of a professional, not another mentally damaged autist who just wants to vibe and watch one piece.

Bisexuals fare worse than homosexuals in pretty much every measure (abuse, rape, health, poverty, socioeconomic status, political/media representation, funding etc) but they’re somehow the oppressor group? Girl be so for real right now. Fascinating how y’all constantly cry about how oppressed you compared to bisexuals when every statistic says otherwise.
I want to preface this by saying that my answer is about het-partnered bisexuals and not bisexuals in a same-sex couple (I mean, it's clear if you read through it, but I know how easily words get twisted on this site). I also want to clarify that I DO NOT intend to discourse any longer than this ask about this specific topic and any type of argument will get you blocked, because I don't have the time nor the energy nor the patience.
Anyway, here you go:
yeah the same statistics where, guess what, almost all of the time the abuse is typically perpetrated by the heterosexual male partner against bisexual women. What you're whining in my inbox about, while it's definitely worth talking about, has little to do with biphobia and a lot to do with the violent misogyny bisexual women suffer from their bfs/husbands. Obviously their partner's homophobia may play a role in it (if the bisexual woman revealed her SSA to him, that is), but it's largely a gendered problem. You don't see bisexual men suffering from the same amount of abuse/rape.
Also, sorry to tell you, but heterophobia is not real and you're NOT oppressed for being het partnered and you'll never be (unfortunately, bc shit like this makes me wish heterophobia were real).
And you have the gall to send me all of this whilst homosexuality is still a crime, even punishable by death in some countries, and in mine homosexual couples still can't get legally married and adopt.
Do the het-partnered bisexuals get this treatment? As in "institutionally discriminated against"? Do they get brutalized by random strangers if they dare to hold hands in public or even dare to kiss? Do they suffer from the stigma and the bullying to the point of killing themselves because they can't take it anymore? Do they get thrown out by their families because of their relationship?
I think we all know the answers to these questions, stop playing dumb.
Oh and not to mention the awful amount of times where bisexual individuals AND ENTIRE BISEXUAL ORGANISATIONS tried to redefine the concept of homosexuality to include opposite sex attraction, thus reinforcing plain old homophobia and homophobic practices (such as conversion therapy rethoric and corrective rape rethoric).

Gotta love how republicans say being queer/trans/lgbt is “unnatural” but don’t think working 8+ hr shifts five days a week is unnatural, don’t think using plastic in every single commodity is unnatural, don’t think polluting our earth for the sake of profit is unnatural, don’t think getting face lifts or boob jobs or Botox or even braces is unnatural…. God it’s all just so stupid

A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"
It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

don't know who needs to hear this but being queer isn't a competition. if you're a homosexual transgender woman that doesn't make you "more queer" than say a straight transgender man or a cis bisexual person or a heteroromantic asexual person. this is not a hierarchy, this is a community. these labels aren't stars on a uniform determining your rank; just because you have more doesn't mean you are somehow superior to the other queer identities, they belong in the community just as much as you do.

The way some people straight up deny soft criticism of the BL industry (stuff that isn't even a secret if you don't close your eyes and ears!!!) Criticism by literally LGBTq people working in said BL industry in Thailand..... basically one of the only ones who's voice are most valid here in this discourse. That's not hypocrism of people working in the industry to open their mouth! That's called self-awareness and using this genre to convey a message and trying to fix issues. This is about Step by Step and Lovely Writer atm. But those are not the only dramas who brought up some critic but somehow people get salty now about that little poke from SbS? Did you sleep the past 3 years?? And it's not a coincident that it's always the same topics certain BL dramas brought up!
I feel like some people here don't get that you can criticize your own work place, your own industry, your own country WITHOUT hating, shaming or demonizing it completely! Yall need stop this black & white thinking and the constant urge to feel personally attacked by something like this...
Especially the message of LW (the same people who make SbS now) was that there is nothing wrong about loving BL stories and they do like producing them. BUT that there are some things in the industry that are bad and harmful NOT ALL OF IT, SOME THINGS! Like the treatment of actors and certain topics by companies and producers. And the main theme of LW: the toxic overstepping and overcontrolling shipping culture that can (and did) destroy real life relationships / friendships under the weight of the pretend relationship (pretend as in they are not dating for real (everyone knows that! or should know that! this is also not even a secret if you watch interviews outside of the fun and couple game shows) at least in most of the cases.... in some rare ones yes, in some very rare cases some actors actually date but they are too afraid to come out due to homophobia and the way the industry & fandom treats those cases (source Dr. Thomas Baudinette who studies the industry as a form of queer asian media and interviewed companies and actors since years... somewhere in this he talks about actor relationships, I can't find the time stamp atm))
ALSO the point about exploiting the LGBTq community is NOT about the fans or LGBTq audience who love these dramas. But about businesses and literal Thailand itself. For using those stories and actors / couples for advertising, for marketing, for tourism even. BUT at the same time some don't care for real life LGBTq issues and rights or the fact that Thailand is still not agreeing on equal marriage (which is not just about them not being able to marry but they get denied a lot of things married couples get. alone the fact that they can't see their partner in the case of an emergency in the hospital because 'they are not family'). In the said SbS scene they were literally discussing which pretend couple has the most fans and how they could use their fandom and fan clubs to gain profit. Don't you guys get how fucking frustrating this is for the LGBTq people and allies who work in the BL industry, to get paraded in front of the camera for money and image but still don't get treated equally??? THAT is what they mean with exploiting.... And it's a lot of producers, writers and some actors who voice those points, not just these few self-aware BL dramas. But doing it through the medium they adress is the best way to reach the right people, to make the right people aware and ask for their support. Since they can't say such things directly (even though they should) unless they want to lose their job, they still like to a degree.
And I am sorry but the opinion of actual thai people who are inside that industry is more valid than some random fan who just doesn't want to understand those things in order to enjoy their shows without feeling bad.... What if I tell you that you can do both and that this is not about shaming you or making you feel guilty (unless you participate in toxic overstepping behavior or are actually LGBTq-phobic, then yes feel guilty)! Acknowledging issues, supporting to fix those issues and still have fun with these dramas and actors.... Those things can and do coexist and nobody said otherwise!!

the biggest problem with how people on this site, and in general, talk about abuse is that not only is there the unspoken but heavily implicit sentiment that an 'abuser' is a type of person who abuses rather than a term referring to a person that has engaged in abuse, there's also a tendency toward the dehumanisation of those who belong to this type primarily via appealing to the stigma around personality disorders.
the end result is that people convince themselves that they do not belong to the category of abuser and are thus incapable of engaging in harm or abuse, refuse to acknowledge the fact they are abusive, and anyone who has exhibited abusive behaviour is ostracised on the basis of their belonging to the category of abuser rather than their behaviour. this ostracisation typically comes loaded with some very charged language, too: uncaring and/or manipulative is rendered sociopathic, self-centred becomes narcissistic, and abusive behaviour is viewed as being the product of a diagnosable and intrinsic character fault rather than being rooted in a wider context that normalises or 'justifies' it; he's not misogynistic, he's a psycho—an exception to the rule of sanity and normality. we could never be like them because we don't have something wrong with us.
by refusing to recognise that we are each capable of harm and abuse, that abusive behaviour takes place within a greater societal context, and the fact someone can be abusive without having something 'wrong' with them i don't think there can ever be much in the way of productive conversation concerning abuse. by viewing abuser as being an ontological category only some belong to, victims are led to believe that abuse is only objectionable by virtue of its perpetrators character rather than the act; by viewing a victim as being incapable of harm or abuse you simplify them as an individual, reducing them to their victimhood; by viewing an abuser as only abusing others due to a character fault, you erase the context that allowed them to justify and carry out abuse of another, and exceptionalise their behaviour. have you ever considered that a lack of ability to feel guilt and remorse doesn't imply an inability to do good, much the same as having an abundance of empathy doesn't grant you the ability to navigate every conflict without hurting others?
you shouldn't be convinced of your harmlessness, especially if it's on the basis that you are not one of those people. you can abuse others too.

I always feel so out of place even in system communities. Does anyone else relate at all??
Like, idk some system memes are cool and relatable bc obviously not everything is gonna line up, but so much of it doesn't click with us.
We've almost never been put off by the voices, we all wanna communicate, we don't think less of each other or think 1 deserves more front time than anyone else, etc. Idk, there's so many memes about denial and eating each other's food and all this distress. Which is i know, a major part of many system's lives. Part of what makes a meme is the repeatability and a lot of systemhood IS struggles in that area.
But what about systems who do everything right (in the sense that we have healthy coping and such)? What about systems who unconditionally love each other and dissociative barriers are something we work around instead of fighting? What about the systems who love the voices?
