Hondo *smirking*: Kenobi my friend, I have your son!
Obi-wan *wondering how Hondo keeps getting his comm frequency*: I'm a Jedi. I don't have a son?
Hondo *looks behind him frowning*: Then this annoying, over confident, man-child with a lightsaber isn't yours?
Obi-wan *looks around for Anakin*: Do you have-
Anakin *pops up on screen*: Don't worry Master, I have this all under control.
Obi-wan *blinks*: Anakin. Hondo I do wish you the best of luck..... you will be needing it.

So, there's just something I can't get out of my head. Something that depresses me to no end. An idea.
After the Battle of Umbara and the 501st reunited with the Commander and their General, Ahsoka finds out what happened to them. Anakin finds out what happened to them.
The two Jedi discover that while Anakin was gone and Ahsoka was flying blissfully ignorant above the planet, their men were being slaughtered, manipulated, used to kill each other.
Ahsoka, who has a sibling relationship with a lot of the clones, who cares about them so much, discovers the atrocities they had to endure.
Anakin, who trusts his men with his life, who would do anything for Rex, discovers he left them in the hands of a murderer.
They discover what the men were forced to do, that Fives and Jesse were nearly executed and their brothers were the ones who were forced to do it, they discover what Rex had to do, the calls he was forced to make.
They discover that their men suddenly have an intense distrust of him. He left them, after all. He left them with the General with more casualties than anyone else.
Ahsoka and Anakin discover that the men are trying to hide their anger, their pain, and they discover the clones all together in the barracks, crying and shuddering.
They discover Rex crying.
They try to comfort them, they try to offer their kindness, but even Rex pushes them away. They could swear they even hear one of the men mutter "I fekking hate Jedi..."
They realize that it's likely the 501st won't entirely be the same. They realize that the men have been through one of the most traumatic events of their lives.
They realize nothing is okay.

Star Wars takes I’m sick of seeing:
1. When a Jedi chooses to no longer follow the path of a Jedi, they are automatically a Sith. That’s like saying if you are no longer a practicing Jew, you’re automatically a Catholic. Being a Sith has a specific set of beliefs and doctrines that must be followed, the same as being a Jedi. One can choose to no longer be a Jedi and *not* be evil or Fallen in any way, shape, or form, and this does not make them a bad person.
2. That if the Jedi were just a bit more Mandalorian, it would have Solved All Their Problems and prevented Anakin from Falling. Usually this means that if the Jedi just showed more emotion/weren’t emotionally repressed/if Obi-Wan just told Anakin he loved him/was proud of him, Anakin wouldn’t have made the decision on multiple occasions to slaughter children. There are so many “fix it” fics where this is the underlying theme.
3. Likewise, the Jedi repress their emotions. The Jedi teach their students to be *mindful* of their emotions, to not react based on a person’s first initial knee jerk response. They asked Anakin to have the same level of emotional control as a kindergartener--you don’t get to punch someone because they took your favorite toy and broke it.
3. When Mandalorians adopt children (with or without parental permission) and indoctrinate them into their culture of weaponry and violence, it’s cute; when the Jedi adopt children (usually with parental permission) and teach them to control their emotions and their psychic powers based on those emotions, they’re an evil child-snatching cult. Only the Mandalorians are capable of forming a family bond and despite being communally raised, the Jedi are incapable of forming those same bonds, probably because of all that emotional repression. But if you violate the rules of the Mandalorians, you are cast out of said “family”, whereas even someone like Darth Vader was offered a way home.
4. Love = Attachment. Attachment is about greed and possession. We are told *and* shown on multiple occasions that you can love someone and let them go. Obi-Wan does it multiple times. But when you go beyond love, when you refuse to accept loss, whether it’s external like death or internal like someone choosing to leave you, that’s when you move into Attachment, and *that* is what leads to the Dark side.
ETA, because apparently I wasn’t done:
5.  The Jedi Order, which has existed for tens of thousands of years, should change everything about itself and its doctrines to suit one kid who doesn’t actually care about following other people’s rules in any circumstance.
6. Anakin Skywalker is the only Jedi who ever treated the clones like Real People, despite several blatant examples showing otherwise, and the fact that he was totally chill with them having their identities and free will stripped away from them. But because he was the only one who was Raised By A Real Mother, he’s the only one capable of showing compassion to other people.
7. That because they have accelerated aging, this makes the clones child soldiers. If they were completely non-human, no one would blink an eye at the idea of a species maturing at a different rate than humans. So they’ve only been alive for ten years? That does not make them children. Grogu has been alive for over 50 years and he’s still a toddler. Calling them children is infantilizing and demeaning.
8. Listen, I love whumping on Obi-Wan as much as the next fangirl, but I’m kinda getting tired of the whole “Obi-Wan never goes to medical/doesn’t sleep/doesn’t remember to eat” thing. He raised a whole ass padawan to adulthood. We have never actually seen him deny himself medical care, sleep, or food. He might work longer hours during the war, but so does everyone else. And the only reason I can justify him not eating isn’t because he “forgets” so much as the poor guy probably has a terrible case of decision fatigue. If all he has to do is walk to the chow hall and get served what everyone else is being served, I don’t think he’d have that much of a problem. There are, of course, extenuating circumstances to all of these based on any prior trauma he may or may not have, but otherwise it’s infantilizing.
This post is brought to you in part by fandom as well as interacting with members of the Star Wars costuming groups.

This started as the seed of a different idea, but it fit so well into this beginning that it was like they were made to go together.
Just before the intel starts arriving that would lead to the Rako Hardeen mess, the Force gets a warning to the Jedi. This warning, once translated, is very clear. Obi Wan Kenobi needs to be out of communication for a while (can’t be sent on a mission whose real purpose is to fracture the relationship between Obi Wan and Anakin, if Obi Wan is not there…).
So Obi Wan and Cody get sent undercover to infiltrate some criminal enterprise whose main base is on Endor (while they are undercover the 212th will be on leave-part of an initiative to prove that the clones are not actually being abused).  Their cover is married mandalorian bounty hunters, thus their faces can be covered. The mission is that they will arrive on Endor, find a place to live, and start taking bounties that would make them highly visible to the criminal enterprise. It is anticipated that this mission will be at least 4 weeks, and there cannot be any contact (Because this is not faking Obi Wan’s death, Anakin is warned the Obi Wan will be out of communication for a while, though he is still given no details) throughout this time.
It all goes well at first, then three days in (due to Force shenanigans, and a Force artifact that was disguised as an antique) both Obi Wan and Cody wake up with no memories. They were just far enough into their mission to have found a place to live and all of their idents and paperwork is in the names of Ben and Kote Beroya, married bounty hunters. Ben (Obi Wan) is just aware enough of the Force to know that they both need to keep their armor on while they are not alone.  Not knowing about their other mission, they find a decent bounty, complete it, and leave the planet.
Meanwhile on Coruscant Palpatine tries to go forward with the Rako Hardeen plan, in spite of his main goal (which requires Obi Wan Kenobi) being impossible.  Without the additional emotional damage to Anakin Skyalker to distract everyone, Palpatine is found out.  The high council, barring Obi Wan but with Anakin, goes to confront Palpatine.
It is the middle of an emergency senate session.
Palpatine activates Order 66(galaxy wide it should be noted) … for about 45 seconds before a Force fueled panic attack from Anakin disables all of the chips at once (also galaxy wide-incidentally giving Kote Beroya a headache from half a galaxy away).  Palpatine was planning on relying on the controlled clones and might have considered going quietly (with an idea to salvage the 1000 year plan) with the realization that the clones were now free. It was all a moot point, since moments after the clones (now very confused and more than a little horrified themselves with their new knowledge) were freed, Palpatine is fatally shot by Bail Organa (Bail has been up for five days working on a draft of the clone rights bills. He is tired, cranky, and pissed that this meeting cut into his scheduled Comm call with Breha).
In the aftermath it is found that Palpatine used Dark Side Magic to partially (at varying degrees) control a number of people in the Senate. This includes Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. In this one Palpatine’s control is what caused Anakin to slaughter the Tuskens.  Anakin is not the only one who needed specialized Jedi therapy (meant to deal with the topic of ‘so the Darkside fucked with your head/possessed you’). It very quickly became the most common type of therapy in the Senate
Palpatine also forced the relationship between Padme and Anakin. There was attraction there, and it was possible that the attraction would have grown into something more but their entire relationship was hijacked by Palpatine (Padme alone had been mostly controlled since she was 14 and needed to go through 4 Jedi exorcisms). More horrifyingly Palpatine used more Sith Magic to put Padme’s womb into stasis, which was currently occupied by fraternal twins, held at the three week marker (so that he could make her ‘become pregnant’ when he was ready to start his end game) that were biologically Anakin’s and Padme’s, though after the Sith magic controlling them was removed, neither remember having sex.
Everyone involved is utterly horrified. It seemed impossible to conceptualize the level of violation on all parties.  The Jedi Order eventually bought an incubation tube from the Kaminoans and, with Padme’s grateful permission (who had been a bit conflicted, she truly did not want to be pregnant- especially in these circumstances- but did not personally feel comfortable with getting an abortion), moved the twins there for the duration.  The Twins would then become part of the Order and both Padme and Anakin would be allowed to decide how much the children would be told.
At this point Anakin requested that his Master be brought back from his mission. Anakin really needed Obi Wan, and a couple of dozen hugs.  The clones are doing their part cuddling their general and Ahsoka is trying too, but sometimes you just need your dad/older brother figure to tell you everything is alright. Especially when everything is fucked up.
The Jedi Council agree and reach out to the secret Comm to contact Obi Wan and recall them (theoretically the whole operation became moot after the Chancellor's death). There’s no answer (as it was a hidden, secret comm neither Ben nor Kote knew to bring it along). The council looks at each other. They try again. Still no answer.  They manage to get in contact with the landlord of the place that was rented to Ben and Kote, who goes ‘Oh those guys. Good tenets, quiet. They left six weeks ago (two weeks into their mission). Think they said they were heading toward Corellia.’
Now the Jedi council are wondering just what happened that sent Obi Wan and his commander to Corellia and why they didn’t get in contact about the change. It is decided that this was a good mission for Anakin to go on, as it would help distract him, leading both the 501st and the 212th.
So now Anakin is on the galaxy’s biggest scavenger hunt, being evaded by two bounty hunters that do not know they are being hunted.
Back with Ben and Kote, they have been taking bounties and slowly learning about themselves and each other throughout (and what married means to them). They realized quickly that they had some specific standards (they DO NOT kill kids or innocents, but Kote has found that he takes a particular glee in bringing betrayers in and Ben has a hatred for anyone who would hurt kids). They have also found that Ben had a tendency to draw the attention of slavers, without fail. They had shut down an even dozen slavery rings in the middle rim.   Because they are always wearing a helmet, except for around each other, they have not realized that their faces are really famous.   They have also realized in that time that Kote is a hand to hand fighter and Ben can do some really weird things (lifting things with his mind) when he concentrates.
It takes another few months before they start to hear that Galactic General Anakin Skywalker is apparently asking for them by name. Rather desperately, at times almost violently. Ben’s instincts (supplemented by the Force) says that General Skywalker does not mean any harm. Both of them, in a fit of whimsy, decide to lead the General on a merry chase across the galaxy (incidentally giving Anakin more time to not focus on the body horror of…well everything to do with Palpatine or Padme).
During this time the Galactic War ends.
The chase eventually ends because Ben and Kote encounter another member of the Beroya clan (Obi Wan had been legitimately inducted into the clan when he protected Satine as a teen), who they are around long enough to take their helmets off around them.
This being blinks twice and basically says holy fuck you are a famous republic general and his commander, you have been missing for months. Ben and Kote blink at each other, shrug and go ‘that explains Skywalker stalking us’ and admit their amnesia to the being.
Anakin is greatly surprised that the next time his fleet comes out of hyperspace he is greeted by his former master, in armor, asking what took him so long.
For a moment Anakin considered Falling right then and there.
Then he considered it again when he met up with Ben and Kote and realized they had no memories.
How the fuck was he going to explain this to anyone…

The Final Sacrifice
Tumblr media
For years you had served beside the Chancellor, the assistant that kept his books in order. The high point was always being able to talk with the hero, your hero: Anakin Skywalker. Now he is known as Darth Vader, and you are made to follow him to Mustafar.
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader X Reader Word Count: 2300 Warnings: canon-typical violence, intimidation, mildly dub-con touching. He's unburnt. For now.
Tumblr media
Your damn hands wouldn’t stop trembling.
Hastily you typed in the frequency of Palpatine’s personal comlink. Doing everything to ignore that there were bodies strewn about the room. Never had you seen Anakin in action before. It was so easy to see him as a warrior, a hero, but the way he slaughtered the room in moments was almost beyond your comprehension. It happened so fast, with so little resistance, you were suddenly made aware how easily he could kill you.
He had no reason to, you being Palpatine's attendant secretary for years. It was that he could, and it could happen in a split second. The bodies. You’d never seen so many dead before. Everything in the room was silent as the graveyard he made it, Anakin walking casually about the room, his eyes on the large windows displaying the hellish volatile planet of Mustafar.
After all the trouble of trying to calm yourself and focus on linking up with the frequency, it came to a pause. You were put on hold. Frustratingly, you rolled your eyes and sighed. Waiting patiently for Palpatine to hurry up and say you could return to Coruscant and forget this sight. Forget this Darth Vader. Maybe you could go back to your daydreams of Anakin you’d been holding in for years. When his gaze was soft and his voice softer. How he’d always politely talk to you when the Chancellor and Obi-wan took up the room, leaving you both to steal away in front of those grand windows, a world of your own. What you would give to go back to that.
All the hair on your neck rose to attention. As soon as you realized how close he had come up to you, you froze and began to sweat, hoping with all your heart he would keep walking. He didn’t. Anakin- Darth Vader, as he was now called, loomed above you and your back became hot and stiff with anxiety.
A pressure came to your shoulders, encased them. His hands, one hot as the magma pools outside, the other cold as ice, gripped you in place. He drew in close, his voice a soft rasp as he spoke though all was quiet now. “I can feel your fear.”
Your hands were clenched, willing yourself to breathe through the panic locking you up. “I assure you,” Your voice as well, was trembling pathetically. “my feelings will not get in the way of my work.”
“Have I changed so much?” The way you curled away from his hot breath on your neck was involuntary but he held you in place. Easily. You’d never felt so small. Those venomous yellow eyes were boring into you, a shiver running down your spine. “Only the night before did I sense your adoration.”
So he did know of your infatuation. He never hinted, just let you get comfortable with his courtly politeness. A flush of embarrassment mixed with your fear and you were paralyzed from saying anything. Anakin squeezed you back into his chest, nearly embracing you. Caging you is what it felt like. His mouth was so close you could feel the touch of his lips against your burning ear as he seethed. “You think I’m a monster, don’t you? Because my power is no longer bound by the leash of Jedi philosophy? Tell me, what is there to be afraid of?” You could feel him tense his jaw, sucking in a sharp breath before he demanded from you, “Why don’t you still love me?”
He was right. You saw him as a monster but how would it save you to admit it? How would it save you to lie? Could he detect lies before, could he now? All you could do was fall back on flattery and obedience. “You are my Lord and my Commander. My feelings are irrelevant.”
After a long painful pause, you could feel him scoff, a puff of air down your cheek. “At least you’re honest.”
He forcefully pushed you away, catching yourself on the console. Left with tears in your eyes, left to watch him walk away as if you were no more significant than a mouse. A flicker of blue grabbed your attention and quickly you straightened yourself as the visage of Palpatine appeared on the holocam, his cloak covering most of his mutilated face. “It is done, Chancellor. The Separatists are no more.”
“Good.” Slowly, a smile began to grow on his phantom face. “And how are you fairing?”
Why was he asking? He never cared for your input before. You glanced back at Vader thinking he might have meant to address him, but he had left the room. “I am well. The war has finally come to an end.”
“You sound frightened.”
“I’m not accustomed to a battlefield, sir.” Calling it a battlefield was a mockery. It was a slaughterhouse. It smelled like a slaughterhouse. “It is nothing for you to worry about.”
He gave a dragging hum. “Per the Senates urging, I am now Emperor of the new Empire. That leaves you in an awkward position, as there is no longer a Chancellor.”
You took back in confusion. “You no longer have need of my services?”
“Oh you are an exceptional employee, but I will be in need of new staff for new purposes.” He explained, and yet there was this hint of- was it mockery? Toying? He sounded amused by his own words. “I hate to see you go to waste. I give you over to Darth Vader.”
Your heart dropped. This Darth Vader wasn’t kind or gentle as Anakin had been. Yet what could you do? It wasn’t beyond you that if someone refused the Chancellor enough times, they went missing and were replaced with someone more subservient. You always hoped it was never the worst possibility, now you couldn’t imagine it as anything but. With your heart in your throat, you bowed to the hologram. “You honor me, Emperor.”
“Return to Coruscant. I have a ship waiting for him. Soon we will be given names of those who escaped their execution order-” He smiled widely, “and the hunt will begin.”
When you came back up, it flickered off. Looking about the room, your hands unconsciously came up and covered your painfully racing heart, as if to protect it from any further fright. Taking in a steady breath, you moved around the room, the corpses, and followed where you believed Vader had gone. Back out to the ship pad.
Even with the heat regulators protecting the area, stepping out of the building caused your skin to sting and your throat to instantly dry, coating it in the metallic taste of the atmosphere. On uneasy footing, you made your way down the walkway to the ship pad, bearing above a river of rushing molten lava.
Vader was standing there at the mostly empty pad, staring up at the sky of churning black clouds. Timidly, you stopped at a distance from him, not saying a thing as you were trying to find the courage to admit what the Emperor would have of you.
“What did he say?”
He hadn’t looked back at you, still staring up. Creator’s be damned, your voice was still trembling. “He has a ship for you on Coruscant, to begin the hunt of the remaining… fugitives.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to call them traitors. So many of them you had known and spoken with, you were there in that room when Mace Windu and Palpatine had fought, and you watched Anakin turn from a young man distraught with indecision, to something inhuman. The instant he rose to his feet, unrecognizable to the man you’d known him to be, you wished Mace had won that fight. Had the Force been kind, he would have.
Maybe Anakin- Vader, had sensed some discomfort in you, maybe it was just the silence, but he looked over his shoulder, peering at you. And to your horror, the yellow of his gaze was gone. “Anything else?”
“And that-” You swallowed down your frayed nerves, bewildered. “you will be in need of your own attendant. That I’ve been transferred to your employment.”
The smile in his eyes moved to the rest of his face, softly laughing to himself as he turned his look back to the sky. It almost felt like you had imagined it, but no, his predatory yellow stare had frightened you horribly. That fear, the physical change about him was visceral and real. A moment passed before he sighed. “Come along then. Obi-wan isn’t coming.”
Darth Vader started walking forward toward his personal ship, startling you into catching up, not wanting to be left behind on this terrible place.
As you entered the ship, you kept your head bowed, taking the seat nearest to the door and falling into it, exhausted by all this. The only relief to be had was when the ship door closed and the heat was instantly cut off.
With some minor turbulence, the ship breached the atmosphere and sailed smoothly into the starry void. Moments later, the hyperdrive was warmed up and the windows were streaked with an explosion of shifting blue and white lines.
There was only the hum of the engine for a long while. Neither of you having moved beyond him getting comfortable in his seat.
You couldn’t stop it. Everything was burning from all that you witnessed, all the fear, the loss, just the scent of Mustafar clinging to your clothes. No matter how quickly you blinked, the tears were welling and not going away. It was all so overwhelming. They began to fall and you covered your face, unable to hold back the sob that cracked through your chest. The act itself was making you panic more. Instead of him saying anything, you startled when you felt the air shift. How could he walk so quietly? Instinctively, you scooted away from Vader looming before you. “I’m sorry-”
He gently hushed you, reaching out. “It’s alright.” Sitting down in the spot you opened, he brushed away the wetness of your cheek. “Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong?”
“I just- I’ve never-” You were still trying to cover your face, unable to control the tears and small sobs from spilling over.
“War is like that.” He took your hands in his. You watched how he brought them to his chest, warm and firm in his embrace. Trying to calm the rush, you breathed slowly. He was smiling gently, those deep blue eyes roaming your face. It was burning you up being so close, touching him, being under that familiar gaze. “Hopefully now, with the great Empire in place, you won’t ever have to see something like that again.”
Don’t forget, you pleaded with yourself. Don’t forget that terrible creature lurking under his skin. If you forget, you’ll be lost.
Questions nipped at you, wondering what was going through his mind. Did he feel anything for what he'd done? Had war brought this out of him or had he always been comfortable with killing? Had he always wanted to look at you like this? He looked so much like the Anakin you knew. It wasn’t fair, your whole body warmed in delight of his sweet attention, a thrill striking through you as he brought your hands to his lips, and peppering feather-light kisses on the shivering knuckles.
“I would get so excited to see you.” He finally spoke, in a soft way, the way you were used to hearing him, the breath of his words caressing you, easing you. Guiding one hand, he opened up your tense fingers and exposed your palm, placing a kiss there too. It was so intimate. It was so close. “I loved the way you lit up when I’d enter the room.” He chuckled. “You could be standing next the Supreme Chancellor, surrounded by Jedi Masters, there could be kings and queens speaking, and you somehow made me feel like the most important person in the room.”
A blush started to warm up your throat and build in your face. You couldn't have known that as you'd only ever been an infatuated fan who got to speak with her hero on occasion, and he a proper code abiding Jedi. Always keeping a proper distance. Always speaking formally.
Maybe not always. How easily you would assume it was only in your head when he’d lean close and speak under his breath. Or reach and touch your uniform, so much heat in his low-lidded gaze.
You watched as his fingertips slipped under the rim of your sleeve, pushing it down before placing his lips on your wrist, a jump of pleasure on the rarely touched skin. “But it could never be anything more than that. I wasn't allowed attachments, and we never had a moment alone for me to… test the boundary of my interest.”
His words perked your interest more than they should have. For the first time your gaze jumped from your hands. Those intense eyes met you in an instant, and his smile grew. “That’s right.” He leaned into your space, eyes dropping to your lips and your hands trapped in his, and you couldn’t say it wasn’t everything you dreamed about. “Had I got a single moment alone with you- well, you probably wouldn’t believe all the ways I wanted to make you mine.”
Your breath caught, your heart beating rapidly with the shock, with the thoughts now running in your head. Wondering how many times you and he wanted the same things. His code and your courtesy keeping a wall between you.
Vader didn’t give you a warning. He pulled in and pressed a quick kiss to your lips, making you gasp. He let you catch your breath, his lips still technically touching yours, smiling as if he too could feel the molten thrill that hit you, jumped up your body and slammed into your head, dizzying you. Your hands clutched his, but they weren’t trembling anymore.
"I'll show you. I'm no different from the man you knew me as.” He promised, pressing those lips back on yours, savoring the way you melted into his embrace. “I’ll make you love me again.”

I just watched the finale of Obi-Wan Kenobi again, and it hit me:
Obi-Wan has never been able to kill Vader!
Yeah, "duh", I know, but what I mean is... it's not like he never had the chance to do so, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But every time, whether it's with the images of slaughtered Jedi younglings fresh in his mind, or the searing pain from burn wounds inflicted by Vader... he still can't bring himself to go through with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obi-Wan's love for Anakin trumped over his loathing of Vader twice!
And both those times, Vader wasted his second chance at life by inflicting immeasurable pain and misery to the galaxy.
Skip to the duel on the Death Star, Obi-Wan still can't kill Vader, this time for other reasons as well... but the point is: he surrenders.
He pulls his weapon back and leaves it up to Vader.
Tumblr media
And Vader kills him without even flinching!
Tumblr media
So we get to Return of the Jedi.
We've already established here and here that - according to George Lucas - Obi-Wan isn't telling Luke that he needs to murder his own father "because he's a Sith and you're a Jedi and all Sith must die!" He says Luke needs to face Vader.
Tumblr media
He is telling Luke that - though he hopes Luke can turn Anakin back to the Light Side - Vader's track record shows that that's a very unlikely scenario.
The more likely scenario is that, if Luke won't turn, then Vader will murder Luke like he murdered Obi-Wan... which means Luke must be prepared to put an end to the conflict in a more definitive manner.
A thing Obi-Wan has never been able to do, with Anakin! Even after concluding that Anakin was dead and Vader had taken his place, he still couldn't do it.
So he's not saying "kill your Dad, Luke" so much as he's saying "you gotta find the strength to do what I've never been able to, or you'll die and the galaxy is fucked".
Just a little thought that came to me.
I remember everyone complaining about how Obi-Wan walks away from Vader again, at the end of Kenobi, but imo it makes the gravity of what Obi-Wan says in Return of the Jedi just that much heavier.
Also, one more thing!
These two moments, here?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're the same scene. Absolutely.
It's Luke's love for Anakin trumping over his hate for the man who took his hand, his mentor and threatened his sister.
That's two of Anakin's loved ones acting in classic Jedi fashion and saying "I will not kill Anakin, even if I die as a result", right before the Sith Lord they're facing strikes them for lowering their guard.
And right there, you see the difference between the Jedi and Sith. The former will choose to end conflict, even if it costs them. The latter will attack the former for such a gesture, mistaking it for weakness instead of strength.

Y’all.
The point of the Clone Wars flashback in the Ahsoka series was partially fan service. Yes. But, those of you that are mad that Obi-Wan and Cody and Waxer and Boil and Mace Windu and Ursa Wren and Gar Saxon and Maul and Bo-Katan Kryze and Rook Cast weren’t in it missed the whole goddamned point of the flashback, so let me explain:
Everyone has bitched tirelessly about Ahsoka being stoic and reserved and “not like herself” (I will die on the “she’s in her forties…leave my baby girl alone… she’s tired, sore and premenopausal…” hill, still…)
Ultimately, she’s been “out of character” because she was carrying all of the Anakin trauma around like a two hundred pound weight on her shoulders. She blamed herself, and she feared who she was so much so that she was unwilling to get close to others and spread the wisdom that the years have afforded her…something a Jedi just does. She couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Enter this sequence… the moment she FINALLY lets go of the Anakin guilt/ hang ups.
I knew something like this was coming. Some moment that changed her back to the more recognizable Ahsoka. The one that embraced her friends. The one that was willing to share the lessons that she learned with others. The one that would have loved to have a padawan of her own. The one that wasn’t always running away, being flaky.
This was it. And, there were two big takeaways from the moment.
1.) Anakin was always Vader, and Vader was always Anakin… and she had nothing to do with that. Her leaving the order played literally no role. It wasn’t on her. It never was. He was already teetering on that line way before she entered his life. I mean, he slaughtered an entire village of Tuskens down to the last woman and child. He said and did questionable shit to Ahsoka herself too throughout their time together. Was he like a brother to her? Sure. Was he borderline abusive at times? Also, yes. Regardless, her eyes were opened in that first battle…where he basically told her to fight or die. Fair, under the circumstances… still, Ahsoka was trained to be a Jedi, not a murderer. Anakin relished in it. She didn’t really, especially when it came to losing her own men in battle. The clones were her friends, her brothers. Anakin didn’t seem to give a shit about the clones. Unsurprising.
2.) She realized that it wasn’t just Anakin’s legacy that she would carry on. She has her own legacy. It doesn’t have to be one of death and destruction. Is Ahsoka a lot like Anakin? Yes. She’s impulsive, hot-headed, stubborn, emotional, and intense, but that’s not all. Ahsoka is caring, patient, understanding, and loving in a compassionate sense. She’s grown wise, strong and sage. Anakin isn’t the only part of her line and that legacy… Obi-Wan is a part. Qui-Gon is a part. Yoda is a part. Ahsoka is a little bit of all of them. It made her realize that she’s so much more than just a warrior. She’s a great Jedi like the ones that came before her. Inevitably, she has a choice. She can choose not to serve the dark, despite it being part of that legacy, and she can pass on what she has learned without fear.
The moment was about just that. It wasn’t meant to actually be an episode of The Clone Wars. The flashback served a very specific purpose as laid out above. There are 133 episodes of The Clone Wars if you want to watch a Clone Wars episode with all the characters of the Clone Wars. This moment was about Ahsoka overcoming her guilt and fear caused by Anakin becoming what he became so that Ahsoka could actually embrace who she is. Specifically.
Now we have a happy, more well-rounded, Gandalf-like Ahsoka that has slayed her Balrog. Now we get to see her be the Jedi she has always been inside. Now we will see her be there for her friends. Now we will see her mentor and share her wisdom and teach the ways of the ones that came before her without fear.

Prompt - ‘You and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time, never ever thought I'd see it break. Never thought I'd see it.’
For years both you and Anakin had known you walked a fragile line, at first it wasn’t too obvious, how could it have been when the two of you were just children? The years spent growing up together, side by side were filled with the best of memories but what you didn’t know was the Jedi Council was always watching the blossoming friendship, always weary of how far it would grow.
It wasn’t until you were years older that you realised the scrutiny you were under, even if nobody outright acknowledged it, everybody knew. There were whispers in the halls of you and Anakin, ones that neither of you helped with considering how your friendship grew stronger and stronger each day. You and Anakin were inseparable, you did everything together, you trained together, you ran off together to explore the city, you went on missions together.
The Jedi Council could see the attachment that was growing but just as they were about to put a stop to it, to put some plan into place that would force you and Anakin apart, the Clone Wars began and not even the Jedi Council, much as they wished they could, could deny the fact that you and Anakin were a force to be reckoned with when you fought together.
So whilst they didn't trust this growing attachment they couldn’t do anything but send the two of you off to fight alongside each other, knowing that the risk of your attachment growing was outweighed by the war hanging over them.
The Clone Wars saw you and Anakin somehow spending even more time at each other’s side, fighting back to back for months on end. It wasn’t a surprise to either of you when you both finally caved, it had been a bad mission from the get-go, one that saw you and Rex taken and tortured for days before Anakin and the rest of the 501st could get to you.
Anakin had carried you onto the ship after slaughtering anybody who had stood in his way of getting to you, uncaring of the fact he knew he’d have to answer to the Council later for going against their direct orders to come and rescue you but their plan would have left you with the Pyke’s for days longer and he refused to do that.
He didn’t leave your side as Kix worked to patch up the injuries you’d received and Anakin barely held his anger in check, the ones who had hurt you were dead and you needed him more now. By the time you were blinking awake Anakin had managed to calm himself, smiling at you and assuring you everything was fine even as his heart raced and he remembered the fear that coursed through him each day you were gone.
When Kix finally gave you the all clear Anakin wrapped his arm around you despite your, admittedly weak protests that you were fine. You felt much better but you were never going to push Anakin’s touch away. You let Anakin lead you to his quarters on the ship, both of you needing to be close to one another after the past few days.
It wasn’t until you were in bed together, nothing unusual especially since the Clone Wars began, you and Anakin had often shared a sleeping space. Anakin had you in his arms, finally calm as he listened to you breathe evenly against his chest. He pressed his lips to your head and murmured soft words against your hair, telling you how scared he had been, how he couldn’t lose you.
It was only when you turned your head to look up at him, your expression so full of understanding, of shared fear of what could happen during the War, of love. Anakin could hardly have stopped himself, he’d been so good keeping to himself, knew the kind of scrutiny you were under at the Temple, but here on the ship it was just the two of you, no need to pretend that there were no feelings between the two of you.
That night was spent trading lazy kisses and smiles full of so much happiness, years of feelings finally allowed to be felt.
Of course neither of you were foolish, you knew the risks of a secret relationship, knew it was a dangerous game to play. Away from Coruscant it was easier to manage and whilst you weren’t foolish, you weren’t always all too good at keeping away from each other. Thankfully the Clones were capable of keeping secrets they learnt out on the field a secret from those back home, something you and Anakin were immensely grateful for after being caught locked at the lips by more than one trooper.
Being back in Coruscant was challenging, especially when you were there for longer stretches of time which was becoming few and far between as the war stretched on. It seemed like since the Clone Wars began everyone was keeping an even closer eye on you each time you returned home. The sneaking around and all the risks that came with being together were worth it, especially when you got to spend your nights together.
The two of you talked about everything but the topic you liked most was what you would do when the Clone Wars were won. If Anakin had asked you months ago, before the Clone Wars began, you would have left the Order to be with him, of that you had no doubt. Now both of you were a part of a fight, one neither of you would walk away from until it was finished, but it didn’t stop you dreaming of a life together far, far away.
So many different ideas got tossed around but the one you liked most was a quiet life together, just you and Anakin, a little house that was just yours, away from the questioning eyes of the Council, away from people judging if your feelings for Anakin were wrong. Both you and Anakin had made such promises and plans for the future, neither one of you believing that your relationship could break, there was so much love there that the thought was impossible.
And the thought only became more and more unthinkable as years passed, both of you had grown a lot in the years of the Clone Wars. You really had no choice but to adapt, to toughen your emotions but it only made you and Anakin lean on each other even more, the longer the war lasted the more you tried to hold on hope of the future you whispered about in the early hours of the morning.
But there was a shift in the Force that had you on edge, had you feeling like you couldn’t trust anybody. Anakin felt it too, you know he did but he refused to talk about it with you. You didn’t think too much of it at first, the war was dragging everybody down but Anakin was still angry and lost with the loss of Ahsoka, the shift in the Force only making his mood worse.
Each day passed and you could feel the power of the Dark Side growing more and more, leaving you feeling cold and hopeless for the future of the war. Anakin was going off more and more these days, something that had you raising an eyebrow since the two of you were practically always together, now it felt like you hardly saw him.
When you did finally see him again it was to greet Ahsoka, the young ex-Padawan looking so much more grown up than she had only a few short years ago. Somehow it felt like this war had been going on for much longer than three years, it felt like it was all you’d ever known. Anakin had looked tired and only gave you the bare minimum of responses but when Ahsoka finally arrived his whole face lit up and you couldn’t help the sad smile that pulled at your lips, you really couldn’t wait for this war to be over.
It wasn’t much later than that when Ahsoka was leaving with Rex and half of the 501st that Anakin excused himself after glancing down at his comm, murmuring something about meeting with the Chancellor. You barely suppressed an eyeroll, something about the man had always set you on edge but you’d never been able to figure out why. Anakin had always told you what a great man he was, wise and willing to teach him, but you never bought into the kind, grandfather act.
You let your thoughts wander until Cody came to alert you that Obi-Wan had received a message asking for you and him to meet with the Council, Anakin already there before you arrived with news to share. Hearing him say that the Jedi finally had their chance with Grievous had you feeling a spark of hope, one you hadn’t felt for a while, Ahsoka was on her way to attempt to capture Darth Maul and if the Jedi were successful then this war could be over.
“The Chancellor has requested that I lead the campaign to capture Grievous.” Anakin said and you frowned slightly, looking around the room and seeing the immediate disagreement, quietly sighing knowing it wouldn’t go over well with Anakin.
“No,” Master Windu said, not wasting time, “the Chancellor does not get to decide on these matters.”
“Agree, I do.” Master Yoda said and you watched Anakin’s face shift into a cold, emotionless look. “A master, we shall send.”
It wasn’t even a conversation that needed happening, one Master said Obi-Wan was the Jedi for the job and everybody agreed.
“Skywalker, your mission is to…observe the Chancellor, he won’t suspect anything amiss since he trusts you.” Master Windu said and you watched Anakin frown.
“Suspect? You want me to spy on the Chancellor? What reason do you have for this request?” Anakin exclaimed and you couldn’t help the quiet sigh that escaped you.
“Nothing concrete yet, nothing that you need to concern yourself with, just watch the Chancellor.” Master Windu commanded before turning to you. “Y/L/N, you will accompany Master Kenobi to Utapau and assist with the takedown of General Grievous.”
“And now you’re not even letting me and Y/N work together? You only wished to send a Master to Utapau and now you’re letting her go.” Anakin interrupted but both you and Master Windu ignored him. “Send me to Utapau instead, there is no need to spy on the Chancellor!”
“Of course, Master Windu.” You agreed and Anakin turned to look at you in disbelief, you could all see he was gearing up to say something but you spoke before he could. “If me and Anakin could be dismissed, I’d like to talk to him before our missions?”
“Of course Y/N,” Obi-Wan said softly, a tired smile pulling at his lips. “I’ll have Cody prepare the ship, join us as soon as possible.”
With that you nodded towards the Master’s before gesturing for Anakin to follow you out of the room who did so with a small huff. You lead him to an empty room, making  sure the door closed behind you before you went to talk but before you could Anakin beat you to it.
“Can you believe this?” He huffed again, pacing the room with his arms crossed. “They suspect the Chancellor is a part of something, it’s ridiculous I’ve known the man since I was a child, he just wants to help. Not only that but they want to tear us apart, I won’t let them do it, Y/N!”
“Anakin,” You said slowly, taking a step back towards the door, there was anger coming from Anakin you had never felt before, he was practically radiating burning rage and it felt like it was trying to wrap around you, consume you, to the point where it was almost overwhelming. “I can’t speak for the Council’s decision to observe the Chancellor but for them to think it necessary then something must have happened-”
“Nothing happened, Y/N! Can’t you see, this is just another plan to keep us apart.” You couldn’t help but frown at the words, Anakin kept repeating them, convinced the Council had finally decided to put a stop to yours and Anakin’s bond.
“Anakin, we’re fighting a war! The Council couldn’t care less what we get up to in our free time, not right now. Can’t you feel it Anakin, the war is coming to an end,” You told him desperately trying to dispel some of his anger, stepping forward and wrapping your hands around his crossed arms, “after that what they have to say won’t matter. We’ll have done our part, we’ve fought this war for so long but soon it’ll be done and we can pick one of the thousand lives we’ve wished for and make it our own.”
“They’ll never allow us to do that, you have to see they want to take you away from me.” You had never understood why the Jedi forbid relationships, in the whole time you had known Anakin, in the time you’d had with him you had never felt anything bad from your bond but right here with him you could see why the Jedi forbid attachments. There was something unsettling about the possessive, almost dark look in Anakin’s eyes, the way his pupils widened until you could barely see the colour surrounding it. “Why else would they send you with Obi-Wan?”
“They’re sending me with Obi-Wan because he’s preparing to take on Grievous, he’ll need backup. If I suddenly showed up at the Chancellor's office don’t you think he’d get suspicious?” You said, keeping your voice clear and calm even though you felt anything but.
“Do you want to be with me, Y/N?” Anakin asked suddenly and you couldn’t help but frown.
“Don’t ask stupid questions, Anakin. You know I love you more dearly than anything.” You told him honestly, even with this dark cloud that seemed to hang over him, you hoped it was just because the end of the war was approaching and that once it was won everything would go back to normal.
“Stay with me then. Obi-Wan has the 212th, they’ll be his backup.” Anakin pleaded but you were already shaking your head.
Before you could say anything though you comm went off and Anakin’s face darkened as Obi-Wan’s voice filled the room.
“Y/N, we’re ready on the ship.” He told you, “Do be quick, I’d like to capture Grievous quickly without giving him a chance to escape again.”
“Don’t go with him, he wants to keep us apart.” Anakin told you but you shook your head again.
“I’ll be right there, Master Kenobi.” You said softly into your comm and suddenly Anakin’s hand was around your wrist, holding tightly to him. “Anakin, let go of me.”
Anakin didn’t say anything, just stared at you with a dark look on his face. You held his gaze until he released your arm with a sigh and you didn’t waste any time before leaving the room, not looking back as you made your way to the hangar bay where Obi-Wan waited with the 212th.
“Ready to end a war, Y/N?” Obi-Wan asked as you joined him on the ship, the warm smile on his face such a sharp contrast to the fiery, dark look on Anakin’s.
There was no time to think about that now though, Obi-Wan was right, it was time to end a war. General Grievous was so close, if today went well the war would be over, peace would spread across the galaxy and you would happily leave the Order behind to start a new life with Anakin.
“Let’s do it, Master.” You grinned at him, pushing all thoughts of Anakin out of your head for the moment.
Everything would work out just fine.
It wasn’t the longest battle you had ever fought but it was tiring, thankfully the exhaustion was beat out by the excitement, knowing that you were so close to the end gave you all the energy you needed.
Just as Grievous threw you aside, the air leaving your lungs as you crashed into the wall, you lifted your head up, watching as Obi-Wan clung to the ledge. You watched as he used the Force, drawing a blaster into his fist before he took the shot at Grievous with no hesitation.
You could only stare wide eyed as Obi-Wan kept shooting until there was nothing left but useless remains of Grievous, a breath of relief, of disbelief leaving you. That was it, that was what was needed, the war was won.
“So uncivilised.” Obi-Wan said as he threw the gun causing you to laugh and he immediately walked past Grievous' remains and held a hand out for you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder once you were up and wincing.
“Congratulations, Obi-Wan, you just won a war.” You grinned at him, both of you beaming happily, waiting for years for this moment and it was finally here.
“I couldn’t have done it without your help, young one.” Obi-Wan chuckled, “come, let us go and assist Cody and the others.”
Obi-Wan and you quickly made your way over to Cody, letting him know the news and prepared to make quick work of the rest of the battle so you could return to Coruscant together. As you and Obi-Wan made your way up towards the higher levels you were stopped by blasts directed at you, the fall and then the shock of the water startling you.
“Obi-Wan!” You yelled as you re-emerged from the water, coughing as you looked around. Obi-Wan came up for air seconds later, yelling at you to follow him and he tossed you an aquata breather.
“Come on, we must get to a ship and find out what’s happening.” Obi-Wan whispered once the two of you were a safe enough distance away, Obi-Wan climbing out of the water first, beginning the climb up the wall, holding a hand out to help you up too.
It didn’t take you long to get back to the surface, you and Obi-Wan sharing a glance once you realised it was the Clones that were targeting you. Obi-Wan put a finger to his mouth, gesturing for you to stay quiet before motioning for you to follow him.
It wasn’t long before the two of you got to a ship, both of you climbing in and Obi-Wan didn’t waste any time getting the two of you off of Utapau. You were breathing heavily by the time Obi-Wan had the ship off the planet, the Master immediately taking control of the situation in a way only he knew how to do, sending out an emergency code in a clear and calm voice, the complete opposite to your shaky hands and panting breaths.
Listening to Senator Organa tell you that it wasn’t just the 212th that had turned against the Jedi but it seemed to be every Battalion sent an ache through your heart. For years the Jedi had fought side by side with these troopers, they had become family and to have them turn on you all, it was like you could feel each loss.
The journey to Master Yoda was a silent one, both you and Obi-Wan lost in your heads, thoughts racing a mile a minute. How had things gone so wrong in the span of a few hours, this battle on Utapau was meant to win you the war, it was supposed to be cause for celebration, not whatever this was.
“Good to see you, it is, Master Kenobi, Young Y/N.” Yoda greeted as you and Obi-Wan boarded the ship.
“Master Yoda, thank the Force you’re alright.” You said as you made your way over to him and the Senator, leaning into Bail’s touch as he set a steadying hand on your shoulder.
“How many other Jedi survived?” Obi-Wan asked as Master Yoda gestured for you all to follow him.
“Heard from no one, have we.” Master Yoda told you both and Bail told you of the attack on the Temple and on Coruscant, thousands of troopers attacking and killing any Jedi inside, killing the younglings without a shred of mercy. You stopped walking suddenly causing Obi-Wan to walk into the back of you and call your name but you were staring down at Master Yoda with wide, watery eyes, shaking your head.
“What about Anakin?” You choked out around the sudden lump in your throat. “You’ve heard from Anakin right?”
“Only hope, can we, remains safe, young Skywalker does.” Master Yoda said, suddenly sounding older and more tired than you had ever heard him before.
You stumbled backwards into Obi-Wan’s chest, the man’s hands coming up to your arms to steady you and you immediately turned and buried your head into his chest, sobs wracking your body as he held you close.
“It doesn’t make sense, we know the troopers, we’ve fought at their side for years! Why would they suddenly turn on us?” You cried into his chest and Obi-Wan shushed you, his hand rubbing up and down your back as he looked down at Master Yoda.
“Have we heard anything from the Temple?” He asked, trying to stay strong, stay composed because right now he needed to be a Jedi Master, he could fall apart later.
You listened to the rest of the conversation, hearing the others tell Obi-Wan that all Jedi have been requested back to the Temple, shaking your head into his chest. You heard Obi-Wan say you must go back and stop others from walking into a trap, the two Jedi agreeing that dismantling the code was the only course of action.
You didn’t care about any of that though, all you could do was close your eyes and reach out with the Force. There was far too much distance between you and Anakin but it didn’t stop you from trying to find him, from pleading with him to meet you halfway through your connection and just show you he was alive.
The answering silence sent a wave of fear crashing through you, Anakin couldn’t be dead…he just couldn’t be.
You let yourself be guided into a seat at the front of the ship, only half aware of the plan to sneak into the Jedi Temple whilst Palpatine held a meeting with the Senate. There was an overwhelming amount of anxiety coursing through you on the journey to Coruscant, knowing that if Anakin wasn’t there then the troopers must have gotten to him first. You knew Anakin was a skilled fighter, one of the best Jedi you’d ever met, but even he would be caught off guard by the Clones suddenly attacking.
When you were landed you were forced to snap back to reality, the Temple was guarded by Clones and every one you took down sent an ache through you, especially when you saw their helmets telling you it was the 501st you were fighting, but eventually you were inside the Temple, following closely behind Obi-Wan and Master Yoda as you walked the halls, trying not to look down at the younglings, not until Master Yoda announced they had been killed by a lightsaber.
The security codes were taken care of by Obi-Wan, whilst he and Master Yoda spoke quietly together you couldn’t help but wander over to the displays. Glancing around to see them occupied, you pressed some buttons to access the security recordings, using Obi-Wan’s password to see them.
All you had to do was press play and you would see who had done this, see if you could see any traces of Anakin and prayed to the Force he had managed to escape.
You held your breath as you started the footage, forwarding through the holo recording before stopping, letting it play at normal speed. Tears filled your eyes, a choked gasp escaping you as you stumbled back, like somehow putting distance between you and the recording would make it less real.
It couldn’t be real, Anakin wasn’t capable of that. You believed that with your whole being and yet the proof was playing out before you. You couldn’t stop the sob that left you, knees buckling and you would have fallen to the floor if Obi-Wan had been there to catch you and keep you up right.
Obi-Wan finally turned the footage off when Anakin was pronounced as Lord Vader, shaking his head and pulling you closer to him.
“Destroy the Sith, we must.” Master Yoda said and you pulled away from Obi-Wan, tears staining your cheeks.
“You can’t kill Anakin!” You protested just as Obi-Wan told the other Jedi he couldn’t kill his old Padawan but Master Yoda gave neither of you a choice in the matter, saying it was too late for Anakin, he was gone and only this new Dark version remained.
You couldn’t believe it, you refused to believe it. Not when you knew Anakin better than you knew yourself, not when you had been there when the war became too much and held him against your chest as he cried for all those who had fallen under his command. Not when you had seen his whole face lit up as he snuck the two of you out of the Temple, not when you had felt him hold you so gently, whispering sweet nothings into your hair, so soft and sweet with you.
He couldn’t be gone.
Of course you had known something had changed in the past few months, especially more over the last few days but surely you couldn’t have missed so much that Anakin had fallen to the Dark Side. No, you couldn’t believe that. Master Yoda might have been so ready to give up on Anakin but you weren’t, you knew there had to be some light left in him, Anakin always seemed to shine so brightly, the Darkness couldn’t engulf it all.
“Young Y/N,” Master Yoda said as he turned to leave, “gone is the man you knew. From your attempts to bring him back, only pain and death and suffering will come. What you know is right, do, for the galaxy.”
You didn’t say anything and he walked away without expecting a reply, leaving you and Obi-Wan alone with your memories of a bright boy you both loved deeply, neither of you ready to believe what you had seen.
You let Obi-Wan take the lead, waiting alone for him to tell you he had found Anakin and when he did he gave you a choice.
“I understand if you do not wish to come,” He said softly, you following him out to the ship and trying not to cry again. “I would hardly blame you for wishing to stay away but you may just be the one who is able to bring Anakin back.”
It wasn’t a difficult choice and you boarded the ship alongside Obi-Wan, not bothering to ask where you were going. You were silent for a long time, thoughts running wild before you spoke.
“What did you mean, I might be the one to bring Anakin back?” You asked quietly, turning to look at Obi-Wan, the man keeping his gaze out the window.
“Please do have some respect for my intelligence, Y/N.” Obi-Wan said softly, a small smile that didn’t meet his eyes pulling at his lips as he turned to look at you. “Do you really believe you and Anakin have been so discreet that I haven’t noticed? Of course I know the two of you are together. I know that he would have left the Order for you had you asked and I know you’d have done the same for him.”
“You never said anything.” You said after a few moments of silence, of course Obi-Wan knew and of course he had never given you away to the Council.
“I care deeply for you both, I only wanted you both to be happy.” Was Obi-Wan’s reply before the ship filled with silence again, a planet could be seen in the distance and you took a deep breath, preparing yourself for whatever awaited you on the fiery planet.
“There he is.” Obi-Wan said once you landed, watching a hooded figure leaving the building and you stood first, stopping Obi-Wan before he could stand.
“Let me talk to him first, please Obi-Wan.” You begged him, eyes wide and watery and Obi-Wan hesitated for a moment, eyes darting out of the window before settling back on you.
“Fine but if anything goes wrong I want you to leave me to deal with it, you get back on the ship.” Obi-Wan said, his tone leaving no room for disagreement and you nodded, not wanting to hurt Anakin.
If it came to it you didn’t envy what Obi-Wan would have to do.
“Good luck, Y/N.” Obi-Wan murmured as he opened the hatch and you made your way off the ship, meeting Anakin as he came down the stairs.
“Y/N!” He called, marching over to you and engulfing you in his arms.
Despite everything you had seen, despite the proof so clearly shown to you, you couldn’t help but sink into his arms, gripping his robes between your fingers and crying silently into his chest. Anakin hushed you, feeling your shoulders shaking against him as he tucked you under his chin, his lips pressed to your head.
“I’m so glad you’re safe.” He whispered into your hair and you shook your head, allowing yourself one more moment, one more moment to memorise the way his arms felt around you, the way he felt so strong and steady and desperately hoped this worked out, that you could have this moment again.
“Anakin, what are you doing here?” You cried as you stepped out of his arms, Anakin’s hands not leaving you as they settled on your forearms. “Tell me none of it is true and I’ll believe you.”
“None of what is true?” He asked, his tone deep and cold, sending a shudder through you.
Deep down you knew all of it to be true but until you heard it from Anakin you could let yourself hope.
“Tell me you didn’t fall to the Dark Side, tell me the death and destruction, the killing of the younglings, tell me none of it was you. Tell me you are not this Darth Vader.” You pleaded with him, watching his eyes go cold as his expression hardened. “Please Anakin, please I’m begging you, tell me it isn’t true.”
“I did this for you, Y/N!” Anakin told you, tightening his grip on you. “Don’t you see that, all of this was for us, for you. The Jedi, they are not to be trusted anymore, now the galaxy belongs to us, Y/N! There’s nothing the Council can do anymore, they can’t take you away from me.”
Your blood turned cold and it felt like your heart had stopped. It was all true, you had known it, but now you couldn’t deny it, couldn’t hope that there was some misunderstanding, some deception. It was all true.
“Anakin,” you sobbed, taking a step back and forcing his hands to drop from your arms. “I don’t want this, I don’t want the galaxy. I just want you, Anakin, that is all I ever wanted.”
“And we can have that. With the Jedi gone we are free, don’t you see it? They were going to take you from me, force us apart but now they can’t.” Anakin told you, trying to make you see reason like you were the one who was being unreasonable. “You’re mine, Y/N! I’d kill anyone that tried to take you from me. I won’t lose you.”
“Whatever the Chancellor has told you, whatever he has filled your head with, it’s all lies!” You told him, desperate to break through, to find that small sliver of Light you hoped to be buried within him somewhere. “It’s all lies, nobody was going to take you away from me, I promise. We had a plan, remember, fight the war side by side and then we would do what we wanted with the rest of our lives. We had victory in our fingertips, Anakin, Grievous is dead, we could have gone anywhere, left the Order behind peacefully.”
“They wouldn’t have let that happen!” Anakin protested and you forced yourself closer to him, cupping his cheek and bringing his forehead down to rest of yours, Anakin’s hands automatically wrapping around your waist.
“Of course they would, Ahsoka left and they let her. We were so close, Anakin, none of this destruction was needed. We could have left.” You told him brokenly, tears still sliding down your face. “Stop this now, stop this madness and we can leave together, just take a ship and leave together, we’ll find our own corner of the galaxy, we don’t need it all.”
Anakin was silent for a moment before he looked behind you and you cursed silently when you heard him mutter Obi-Wan’s name.
“I knew it! They want to tear us apart!” Anakin roared and you took a step closer to him.
Anakin-”
“Don’t, you’re a liar! You would just let them take you from me!” He cried out and you moved back when you felt his anger and rage in the Force, the strength of it almost knocking you down.
“Anakin, I love you, I love you more dearly than anything else. Stop this, please, just stop this. We can leave together, Obi-Wan can tell them you won’t be a problem anymore, all of it can be forgotten.” You knew even as you spoke that your words were a lie, the image of Anakin slaughtering your fellow Jedi, slaughtering dozens of younglings, without a shred of mercy was seared into your head.
It seemed Anakin knew your words were a lie too.
“I did this for you, Y/N! You’re all I wanted, all I ever wanted, I couldn’t let them take you.” He told you again, shaking his head like he couldn’t believe you couldn’t see it.
“Don’t put your actions on my head, Anakin. Don’t force me to blame myself for the death of the Jedi, the destruction of the galaxy.” You told him, tone firm but soft. “I never asked for this. I wanted us to fight the Clone Wars, to fight alongside our troops and restore peace in the galaxy and then I wanted to just leave the Order behind us. Nobody would have stopped us. Everything could have been different, Anakin. Why would you walk away from everything we had, from everything we ever spoke and dreamt of?”
“Y/N, I know of their plans, they were never going to let us see each other after the war. I saw it! Just the visions alone were enough to drive me mad, to actually live it, to not have you at my side-”
“Don’t you see, Anakin, none of it was real. The Chancellor, Darth Sidious, whatever he calls himself, he was manipulating you, using any means necessary to get you where he wanted you. Surely you can see it?” You pleaded with him to see sense but knew realistically he was too far gone. “He knows of our love and he is using it for his own gain. Don’t let all those words we said become nothing. I meant everything, did you?”
“You dare question my love for you?” Anakin snarled, one hand raised and suddenly you were in the air with the breath snatched from you.
Obi-Wan finally stepped off the runway, heart breaking at the scene before him. He truly had believed and desperately hoped that you could bring Anakin back but the Anakin he knew would sooner hurt himself than hurt you.
“Admit it, Obi-Wan, you want to take her from me!” Anakin shouted. “I won’t let you.”
“Anakin, don't be foolish. If you truly believe I haven’t known about you and Y/N for years now then I have done my job too well. If I were so against this I have had plenty of opportunities to tell the Council.” Obi-Wan said and that gave Anakin pause but whatever bit of doubt he had quickly left as he shook his head, the Chancellor’s manipulations running too deep.
Your eyes darted to Obi-Wan, panicked and scared, but the other man just gave you a small nod. You desperately hoped Obi-Wan could get you both out of this alive, though with Anakin’s madness, the way the Dark Side seemed to be eating him up, you weren’t particularly enthusiastic about your survival rates.
“Anakin, come with me. All three of us can return to Coruscant, we can fix this. Don’t do something you’ll live to regret here.” Obi-Wan said calmly but it seemed to only anger Anakin.
“You think I’d fall for such a trap, Master?” Anakin spat, the word like venom coming from his tongue and you watched as Obi-Wan let out a small wince, unable to hide it. “I know what fate awaits me if we go with you.”
“Anakin, please listen to him!” You managed to choke out but Anakin only tightened his Force grip on your neck and your fingers scratched at the phantom pressure, your vision dancing with black dots.
“You claim to love her and yet you’re killing her, Anakin!” Obi-Wan exclaimed, lighting his lightsaber and taking a step towards Anakin.
“You truly think you can beat me, Obi-Wan? I have powers you couldn’t even begin to understand. Soon I shall take my rule in my new Empire and Y/N will stand by my side.”
“No, Anakin, she won’t.” The words sent a fresh wave of anger through Anakin and his fist closed tightly.
You felt your airways completely close, lungs burning as you choked, pain spreading throughout your body. It wasn’t until Anakin threw your body aside, painfully hitting the ship that you were left struggling for air, slumping down on the ground and letting your head hit the floor, the sounds of lightsabers hitting against each other the last thing you heard before darkness took over.
You don’t know how much time passed but at some point you felt your body being moved, your eyes flew open and you pushed away from the hands on you, scared Anakin had won. There was no need for it though as Obi-Wan crouched down in front of you, hands raised and you let out a shaky breath.
You let Obi-Wan help you up onto unsteady feet but a groaning from your right had you turning your head, even as Obi-Wan tried to pull your gaze away. You gasped, knees buckling and sobs escaping you as you saw Anakin’s body aflame, broken groans and screams leaving him as he shouted after Obi-Wan, after he saw you standing.
“I’m sorry.” Obi-Wan murmured sadly, tears in his eyes as he pulled you into his arms and led you back towards the ship.
Once you were sat in the seat your eyes immediately found Anakin, the picture before you would forever haunt your waking days as well as your dreams, it would be one that stayed with you forever.
You didn’t know what you were supposed to do now, everything seemed so dark and hopeless. So much of your future had always involved Anakin but now Anakin was dead, left to burn on a fiery planet and you knew the pain would never leave you. You had never thought that what you and Anakin had would break, truly never thought you’d live to see the day, and yet here you were, flying away from him, heart broken so painfully for a future that was so close and lost just like that.

Dont make me do this
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Summary: The chosen one has fallen, disappearing into the dark, following sidious. And though it is your duty to end him you just cant, why? Why should you kill him when ll he had done was be human? He gave everything for the love of his life. And you would do the same, you abandoned him once, and you will not make that mistake again, even if it meant following him into the shadows.
Warnings: jedi bashing? Swearing, angst, poorly writen gore/graphic injury.
A/N: This is a purely self indulgent fic based around unrequited/hidden love and HE DIDNT DESERVE THE FUCKING SUIT! All that precious little bean did was try to save his wife a baby 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
"Obi wan, we have to do this" you pleaded quietly, trying not to let padme hear you from your position in the cock pit. Your eyes searched his desperately, praying he'd see reason and agree to help you. You couldnt do this alone. Your prayers were unanswered Instead you felt ice prickle in your veins. shuddering under the intense glare the jedi master sent you. Youd never seen him so... angry before
"This is madness! You are letting your feelings cloud you;" he scolded quickly wiping the rage from his face trying not to succumbto his own emptions and be called out as a hypocrite.
"Damn fucking right i am! I am letting it get in the way, because being fucking emotionless drove him away, drove him to this." you snapped back your own desperation driving you to a furious frustration.
"Thea please now is not the time for this;" obi-wan sighed once again trying to brush you off as he often did. As everyone did. But this time you refused to be ignored, this was too damn important. You leant over slamming both hands down on the console letting your force crackle ominously around you.
Obi-wan stiffened at the display of hot fury. Something he'd heard mace and yoda raise concern about in meetings, yet he'd never seen this for himself. It was unsettling to see you so riled up. For the first time in his life he saw somthing else in you. Something frightening.
"It is the only time for this! Obi-wan, Anakin has struggled all his life in the order. He feels much more then anyone i know. He doesn't feel sadness only devastation, not happiness but elation, never fondness but love. He always has. And he felt completely and utterly alone" obi-wan tried to argue, he opened his mouth wantingnto find the words to counter you. But he couldnt, you were right, Anakin sought out connections. He didnt mean to but he did, subconsciously he always needed to cling to something, someone.
And in pushing him away, setting clear boundaries between them in an effort to stop himself becoming a father figure to anakin he hadnt been there to stop this madness. He'd failed to curb anakins need for attachments. Perhaps if he had allowed anakin to latch onto him as the boy wanted, he wouldnt have unknowingly sought out sidious, or you or persued padme. He could have happily continued his path as a jedi along side his master.
"We did that, we isolated him. Or made himmfeel isolated. He felt like he couldnt come to us for help obi-wan. He thought we'd judge him, that we would abandon him."
"He was terrified that the one person he loves, the only person in the world he could truly be ungaurded around was about to be torn from him. He made mistakes but so did we..." you traild off slumping back against the wall of the ship feeling your own shame wash over you. The many times youd seen anakin not himself, but let him brush you off, telling you he was just tired or giving some other generic excuse. Should you have pressed him harder? Pushed for answers, made him snap at you and perhaps get the truth. Was that what he needed?
"He slaughtered the younglings! He's become sith, and you want to pity him, you dont know what your asking!" Your self doubt was cut short as obi-wan growled in anguish. He was so torn, hurt by what had happened. Maye more so then you, he probably felt even more responsible for this then you did. He practically raised anakin. But no mtter how much this hurt him you were not about to let him take it out on you. No. He didnt get to do that, he wasnt the only person hurting, nd you werent about to become an emotional punching bag for him.
"I am asking you to fucking help me. I am asking you not to do this, dont fight him. He doesnt need an adversary. He needs help, he need us to accept him, to be honest with him and guide him" you snapped back watching with a tightening chest as obi-wan pulled back slightly. Before shaking his head scoffing at you, trying to calm his irritation. He spun away from you flicking a switch on the control panel before ducking his head pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Accept him? How. How can we accept this! How can you stand there and tell us we need to join him!" When he finally spoke again his voice rose quickly. You faltered not used to seei g anything but mild disapproval from him. Never had he bordered anger like this. You knew it was only natural, a mix of fear, disappointment and dread. He felt betrayed.
"Because thats what we need to do to fucking bring him back! I want to bring him back and we cant do that if we arnet beside him. For fuck sake this is the orders fault as much as it is sidious'... its our fault obi-wan. We ignored the signs, we... took Anakin for granted assumed he would cope alone so left him to his own devices" you managed to keep calm, trying to reason with obi-wan.
"We nurtured his turning by allowing his marriage to go undeteced we should have reported it;" obi-wan didnt get to finsh. You were narling in his face before he could move an inch.
"Dont you dare. DONT YOU DARE! Padme is the only reason he didnt fall sooner and you know it!" Your temper flared as you pointed in the direction of padme somewhere in the ship. Youd put up with a lot, but blaming padme because he couldnt stomach the thought of failing in his teachings was not one of them.
"And now look! He turned anyway! He fell Thea." He spoke quieter this time realising he may have begun to be unnecessarily harsh.
"Yeah he did. He fell right into the hands of sidious, because we couldnt catch him ourselves. Joining the dark side isnt the answer... even if we were just pretending so we can make him see the light, sidious would know." You offered once more, still trying to make obi-wan come around to your way of thinking. Surely it was better to try and save Anakin by nymeans then to just go and kill him? Didnt obi-wan love him enough to try?
"Im sorry but i have to do this. He has to see reason or..."
"Careful Obi-wan that almost sounded like an absolute." You hissed cruely making him snap his gaze to you. Eyes hardening as he took in your stnce, the way your force rippled around you sinisterly.
"Thea" he warned gently, trying to calm you and use that legendary charm he was famed for. But you sneered at him instead. All you could think was how easily the jedimaster was giving up, how he threw away his brother so quickly and would turn on him when there were other ways.
"You don even care how hypocritical you just sounded do you? The same old jedi double standard" Youd scoffed rolling your eyes, unable to The hypocrisy and intolerance wouldnt change.
"Please try to see things clearly" he almost pleaded, but unfortunately it was too late. Youd made your decision, and he had made his. All you could do now was watch things crumble around you.
"Oh trust me I do. i didnt before, but i finally understand. You dont see it. Do you? Its the order. Its poison. It's infected your mind like a sickness. They made sure the order means more to you then actual living breathing people." Your words began to twist, prod and slice at him but once you started you couldnt stop. Wouldnt stop.
"That no one in the galaxy should be more important or more powerfull then the jedi. Its funny really. The sith empire will rise again; more powerfull then last time and it was pssible because of the jedi orders hubris and even now the jedi are so blinded by their pride they refuse to admit it" your eyes locked with obi-wan's pwn pained gaze. He didnt respnd, you werent sure if it was because he was hurt by your words orif he thought this would blow over, that you were just throwing a tantrum. After a few more moments of silence he sighed, opeing his mouth to speak but it was too late.
"I dont want to hear it. Just know if you raise your saber, i will to." You anounced drawing a line in the sand before gettingnup, leaving the cockpit ignoring his calls to come back and talk this out. But there was no talking. No reconciliation. The time of the jedi had ended, the order was dead. and unfortunately obi-wan wasnt smart enough to admite defeat and abandon the sunken ship.
Tumblr media
You watched from Inside the ship as anakin and obi-wan dueled across mustafar's boiling terrain. You yelled in fury obi-wan was cunning, after youd left him in the cockpitt to mull over your words he'd removed your acsess to the doors. And left with pad,e quickly making sure you were kept on the ship.
Your heart broke as the fight continued, eyes watering as two people you caredmfor deeply camemto blows in a brutal battle. Padme was unconscious on the floor by the ship. It had been frightening seeing first hand what anakin was capable of, what he was willing to do to those he belived betrayed him. A tiny part of you wanted to stay on the ship out of fear. You were scared he now thought you were a backstabber. That youd forsaken him as padme and obi-wan had.
No. no you couldnt allow it. You wont let him think so little of you.
"3-po! Quick we have to get padme, come on we have to help her" you pleaded motioning to the woman sprawled out on the floor. Your words drew the droids attention and suddenly he was stepping towards the back of the ship all the while continuing his usual anxious rambling.
As soon as the door was open you bolted, running past the droid full speed stopping beside padme checking her over. She was unconscious- maybe passed out? But not dead. Thankfully Anakin would never forgive himself or obi-wan if padme had died here like this.
"3-po you handle this, take her to the ship and look after her" you called over your shoulder to the droid ignoring the complaints from him.
You raced across the surface of mustafar unclipping your lightsaber as you climber a small burning dune of sand only to freeze at the scene. Obi-wan had anakin trapped, the former was being backed up to the flowing lava. They were yelling at one another, screaming. Anakin was meeting his master blow for blow but Obi-wan wasnt relenting or holding back instead he was leading anakin to the river. Anakin hadn't noticed, he was to angry, he wasnt paying attention.
You ran, jumping, leaping forward trying to close the distance between them before it was too late. Your anger spiked fueling you, urging you to go faster. Obi-wan was going to throw him in the lava. He wasnt going to kill him himself. He didnt have the guts to do it cleanly himself!
Obi-wan brought his saber down in a powerfull blow tipping Anakin off balance . And with that the chosen one began to fall.
"NO ANAKIN!" the scream tore from your throat in such a mournful bellow it hurt your vocal cords. Both men looked towards you startled by you. Your arrival destracted obi-wan enough for you to stretch out to the force as Anakin fell into the molten lava.
He screamed in excruciating pain as one arm, shoulder, leg and the side of his chest became burned but you yanked on him. Your force was quick enough to pull him from his fiery grave before it could engulf him. And it was strong enough to put some distance between him and obi wan. Anakin landed heavily out of harms way quivering, hissing and moaning as the pain of his wounds began settling.
Anakin was alive. He was alive. Thank the force youd got out of that ship.
You didnt stop. Even though Anakin was alive, you didnt stop your charge. No. Instead to ignited your own saber and jumped over Anakin before lunging at obi-wan.
"Wait what are you doing? You said youd help" obi-wan yelled raising his saber only just managing to block your own. He staggered back, unprepared for the power youd put behind the blow. He waited for you to pull back but you didnt. Instead you pushed on keeping your blade locked with his, digging your heals into the rock below you and using your weight to throw him back a few steps creating some distancebetween the two of you.
"I said id raise my saber if you do. I never said it'd be pointed at Anakin" you panted pointing your saber to him threateningly.
His eyes widened, realising you had intended to kill him. He glanced to the purple of your saber. He knew what it meant, had always known what it meant. You were comfortable useing the dark side if you had to. It was unspoken but purple sabers were somewhat feared in the order. It meant you had afinty for both light and dark. It meant you were a different kind of jedi. Strong, dangerous. Suddenly he felt sick, the beginings of dread and icey fear curling around him. It was as they had always feared. You were turning. Not just Anakin, you were going to the dark aswell.
"No. No! Thea dont do this! Dont follow him down this road" obi-wan pleaded lowering his saber shaking his head at you, hopeing, praying you will stop before its to late.
You widened your stance before casting a look over your shoulder to Anakin. As silly as it was you were uncomfortable with him behinde you. He was clearly stressed, angered beyond the point of reasoning. Your eyes locked with his and he frowned. He was trying to figure out if you were an ally in this or not. You nodded subtly to him.
"Youll be okay Anakin. I'll help you with your wounds i promise just... just sit tight okay?" You said glancing at the burns on his side, the bionic prostetic was fucked, the metal and carbon melted and twisted, his fingers all stuck in odd angles and fused as if he had cramp. It was probably where the caseing was melted and shrunk pressing on the components below. It was completely useless now.
Your gaze lifted with a wince the top of his arm and shoulder was almost steaming from the way the intense heat that had caught it. His skin was blitering, torn and sagging away from his actual muscles and tendons. He was sitting down at an odd angle, his arm jutted away from his body, avoiding the same agonising blisters and open wonuds on his arm that also decorated one side of his chest, down his ribs and abdomen.
He only uttered your name in response. Hissing as he shifted trying to inch closer. His eyes told you all you needed to know. He was relieved you were here, thankfull you saved him. Yet determined, angry. He wanted to kill obi-wan you could sense it. See it in him. He was frustrated because he knew how close he'd come to failing. How close he'd been to death. Yet he still wanted to fight. But he also knew he couldnt take on obi-wan again in this state.
"Thea Move!" Obi-wan demanded angrily drawing your attention away from Anakin. You growled locking your shoulders and tensing, anticipating a strike from the jedi master.
"Move Thea please, dont make me do this" you scoffed keeping your eyes on him as he poised his saber for another attack. Both of you prepared to do what must be done.
"Im not making you do anything, your doing it all on your own. Leave obi-wan. Its over, the orders dead. Just... just go" you hissed feeling the irritation grow with obi-wan. He couldnt see it! He was blinded by faith in an order that never was.
"You know i cant do that i cant walk away from this" the jedi master pleade, as if tryingnto make it seem as if his hands were truley tied. And that right there was the problem. The jedi order did this to people. Took away choices, forced decision onto people claiming it was for the greater good. When in actual fact it was just to protect the orders values. They belived that there was no other way, all other veiws were immoral. It was almost amusing the amount of hypocrisy the order spewed, the absolutes they enforced despite only sith deal in absolutes.
"Yes you can, just go. While you still can. I dont want to kill you but i will." Your words were almost pleading, yet too harsh to be considered as such. You needed him to just walk away.
"Youll really do this? Really stand by him? After what he has done! Join his madness?!" You winced as he tried to manipulate you, twisting the knife in the still raw open wound. Dredgeing up the worst atrocities Anakin had just commited to try and sway you. Did you agree with the younglings slaughter? No. Your not a monster. But whats done is done, and you knew Anakin would regret that untill the day he died. When he dropped out of what ever manic fury he was in the younglings will haunt him forever. Thats his burden, his punishment, his guilt to bare. Not yours.
"Yes. I wont abandon him when he needs me. I wont let him suffer alone. Not again" you called out louder then intended, you heard Anakins faint gasp as you confirmed your intentions. You felt his force signature lift from behinde you. Perking up with a warmth you knew to be his own relief and joy. He was happy you werent going to turn on him.
Tumblr media
"You.. you love him. All this time you've been in love with him. Youll be sith fall into the darkside for him? This is why we dont love! This is the reason!" Obi-wan's words were small at first, doubtfull and confused. But quickly became frustrated accusations. You met his gaze and drew a breath choosing not to respond which made the jedi master snarl in frustration.
You had to look away from him, casting your eyes back to Anakin who had been torn between watching the scene before him and trying to ease his pain with deep breaths and force healing, that he wasnt exactly the best at.
But Anakin had heard, you wished he hadnt but he had. Looking up with a startled face, locking eyes with you questioning if it was true with a single gaze. You tore your eyes from him, fightened of what youd see in the next few moments. You didnt want him to know, didnt want him to see how far you had fallen. You were ashamed, your love was forbidden. But you loved your best friend, your comrade, brother. You loved a man who belonged to another. And it ate you alive.
"Dont you see? Dont you both see love feeds the darkness! It pushes jedi untill we are irrational and we fall untill we are sith;" Obi-wan began another rant, desperately trying to turn things around and scold you both into an epiphany. As if you both would suddenly stop holding people dear and your love would dissappear.
Obi-wans words seemed to be the final straw, he had found your tipping point. Scolding you like a child about pride and responsibility when he himself couldnt even admit the order had fucked up. That they had been cruel and negligent.
"I am not a jedi! I am not a sith! I am a fucking human being obi-wan. A free, thinking, feeling, angry, tired human being who has had just about enough of the orders propegander cultist shit!" Your scream echoed in the valley so loud it rendered the roar of mustafar almost silent in comparison. A small amount of your force rippled around you shifting the sand and rocks about your feet. Your rage had come to a boil, the darkness within you flickering awake. But you refused to stamp it out, refused to deny it this time.
"Thea.." the jedi master stepped back lowering his saber in shock as your aura darkened before him finally releasing what felt like a lifetime of pent up rage and fear. The fury and down right evil radiating from you was enough for him to rethink this battle. You were glorious and frightening to behold.
"Your right. Your right I love Anakin! I love you! I love padme and ahsoka and stars forbid i even hold a love for my master!" You continued shouting, loosing yourself in the truth of your own emotion. Welcoming the anger and frustration for the first time in your life. Finally, finally letting yourself drown in it.
"But i also hate. I hate master yoda for not listening to me when i sought reassurance, instead of helping me he gave me riddles and kept me silent. I hate that i was never allowed to question anything, i hate that i was expected to give up so much for so little. That my life would become meaningless just because i could use the force; it fucking condemned me! Condemned all of us!" Your words spewed like venom they were acidic on your tongue so much so you had to spit them out to so they wouldnt poison you further.
"I hate that i have become a fucking gaurd dog of the elite! That i spend my days protecting crooked senators instead of helping the civilians i vowed to protect and i loath; no detest the order and its stupid fucking rules, rules that were created out of fear" you clenched your saber tight in your fist untill the ridges of the hilt threatened to cut into your skin. You shook, quivered dragging sharp breaths through your teeth as your own words resounded around you. The fear, hate, shame and guilt youd always felt releasing at once in once torrent of regret.
"You dont know what your saying;"
"Yes i do! i said it and i meant it i hate the order. Hate it Obi-wan! And im fucking relived that this is the end of it because its needed to fucking die for years!" You shut him down quickly with a snarl, inching forward as another more powerful wave of your now tainted force escaped in yet another blast towards him despite you trying to hold it back. It was impossible, the air around you was charged with it. Crackling and twisting in an invisible violent display of power.
You closed your eyes pulling yourself back from what ever edge you were teetering on. Trying to calm yourself and draw some deep breaths. You didnt want to loose control, not like this but... but you didnt want to lie to yourself anymore or pretend. You were a human, you were entitled to feel your feelings.
Tumblr media
Obi-wan watched in horror as your saber rattled in your hand, shuddering violently in your grip for a few long seconds untill it faltered. He felt sick to his stomach as the blade transformed before his eyes. Red seeped from the hilt, consuming the purple of your blade with greed. It was over, there was no coming back from that. Your kyber had absorbed the hate and malice. He coudlnt pull you from the dark side now. You were lost.
Even Anakin was shocked never seeing such a thing happen before. He knew how it happened but never once thought youd bleed your crystal. You were always so controlled and carefull with your saber and handling your kyber. Perhaps this was why? You were close to the dark and it wouldnt have taken much to slip and fall. What shocked him the most was that you hadnt even realised what youd done. Was it was so natural for you to feel this rage that you didnt even notice it properly? You didnt cast a second thought to what might happen to your kyber?
You began speaking again, this time clamer. But still on the cusp of pure unadulterated rage. The frightening female rage that could stop a man in his tracks with a single 'no' still oblivious to the new red hue of your blade.
"Between the hate, love and frustration most of all i am sick. Sick and tired of this galaxy and everyone in it trying to contain those gifted with the force. Just because the force chose us to wield it; doesnt mean we have to be fucking soldiers or pawns or or slaves to someone elses doctrines" you explained revealing just what you thought the jedi truley were. Slaves.
You heard Anakin from behind you, repeating the word gently in a strange disbelief. As if he himself had never associated the two. But you felt the realisation. The moment his own anger spiked before knosediving into a deep depressed disappointment. He had replaced slavery for slavery. And he'd never even noticed.
"You.. you have been straying? these? Thea how long has this...." obi-wan summarised, not even angry at you. How could he be? This was the orders failing. For a moment you thought you could see understanding. That he accepted the order hadnt just failed to understand and protect Anakin, but you aswell. How many others? How many jedi hated the order and were just too scared to sya it? How many people had stayed silent just so they could remain with their loved ones and not be exiled?
"Longer than him. As long as i can remember I..." your words trailed off. Once again shame and doubt cluding you. This was difficult, for the first timemyou were being honest with yourself, with obi-wan and Anakin. It was daunting letting everything out like this, feeling true emotions willingly. Youd been trained not to, itgoes against everything youve been brought up to belive.
"Thea? Why did you never say anything?" Anakin called from behind you finally managing to stand and breath through the pain, all be it unsteady and lopsided, his uninjured arms curled below his burned one.
"I couldnt. I never wanted to admit it... anakin you? Had your own doubts if I'd said something? I didnt want anyone to know my real thoughts. Or influence you." You uttered slowly still coming down from your rage, inching yourself back into a calmer state of mind. Somehow your outburst had stopped the raging war between the jedi master and Knight.
Or maybe obi-wan wasnt attacking because he knew itd be useless. A master jedi would struggle taking on one dark side user, let alone two. It was clear both you and Anakin had embraced your afinty for the dark side to certain degrees. You were both unpredictable now and obi-wan probably wouldnt best you both.
You tried to ingor the flutter of pride, you made a jedi master question his own strength and resolve. It wasnt a stretch to say he might even fear battleing you now youd begun your decent into the so called darker aspects of the force
"There is only the force and it is grey. It is balance, but it is power and we all use it to gain victory. The force is blameless and we are all manipulators. Thats it. Nothing else you either use it or you dont. Everything in the force can be used for good or evil." Anakin hummed pondering the words in a very un-anakin like way. He never seemed one for deep thinking or philosophical nonsense. But he seemed to be taking in your points weighing them up against one another.
"Dont you see obi-wan we twisted it, us. We made it what it is and use the force as an excuse to control one another. And if you force me to choose between slavery in the light and freedom in the dark?" You turned from Anakin and began pleading for your friend and teacher to understand your point. He had to, even if he didnt like it or agree you had to make him know of your reasoning. That you werent ust an evil woman driven by a need for power and vengeance.
"I choose the dark, just like Anakin. And honestly i chose it long ago... i was just scared of loosing what was most important to me. Scared to break the chains" you glanced to Anakin again unable to keep your self from checking on him. You were worried, concered and anxious to see if he was angry or disgusted by the way you felt about him. But he didnt give any indication, he was lost innhis own thoughts and didnt seem to aware of what was going on in that moment.
But then again he was probably overwhelmed. In the last few hours he'd betrayed the jedi, stormed the temple, slaughtered the younglings and jedi, almost killed padme and his unborn, fought his master, almost been burned alive and then had to deal with your hidden feelings coming to light.
"Thea please;" obi-wan tried again holding out his hand to you, trying to offer you a path back into whats left of the jedi. And it felt like the final attempt. He looked conflicted and exhausted.
You shook your head and stepped back as if he was trying to poison you. And in a way he was, he wanted to draw you into something youd only just managed to truely escape. He was still a slave he just couldnt see it. You pitied him in a way. He was too far gone and would never ever be free.
"No. I wont warn you again kenobi. You need to Leave now. And do not seek us out again" your voice didnt waver. You didnt flinch or stutter. Though the strength was just a mask. Inside you were crumbling, it shouldnt have come to this. The order should have just faded away like all relics of the past. But the jedi were greedy in their own way, stubborn. They refused to change, belived there was no need to ever compromise and for that hubris they had paid dearly.
Obi-wan didnt say anything, what could he say as you severed every connection you had with him. Every familiarity gone in a instant. He flicked his gaze from you to anakin and back again before disengaging his lightsaber and backed away. And then he was gone, falling out of sight behind the dunes.
Tumblr media
You stayed alert until, you saw the ship take off and felt you and anakin were alone. Only then did you finally disengage your own saber and relax, collapsing to your knees taking a moment to come to terms with what had just happened. You were out. Free, free to feel and love and hate, free to decide whats best for you, live on your own terms with your own beliefs.
Tears began streaming down your face. This wasnt what you thought itd be, wasnt what you feared. Where was the shame? The terror and guilt? You were supposed to be lost and alone now. But all you felt was relief and strong. You felt peace yet a chaos, powerfull. You felt bold. It was everythingnyou were told it wasnt. You heard anakin shuffle behind you and then a gruntal moan as he fell heavily to the floor next to you. That snapped you out of your trance, you can reorder your feelings later, for now he needed you.
"Fuck, fuck are you okay? Here lets get away from all this lava, come on up here, let me see." You began quickly assessing him while trying to usher him futher up the bank. He swore under his breath pushing at you hands as you tired to support him. It was slow going but you managed to help half drag him higher moving him away from the rushing lava river that nearly killed him.
"Hey talk to me..." your voice grew quiet as the silence dragged on becoming uncomfortable and tense. But he just stared at you, yellow eyes burning into you trying to figure something out. Like you were a puzzle for him to pull apart.
"You... saved me from the lava... you pulled me free before....and protected me. You chose to stay?" He finally spoke confusion lacing his words. For a moment you thought he was going into some pain induced delirium or shock syndrom. He was both questioning you and doubting himself. Yet at the same time reaffirming what had happened.
"Yes. I did... Are you okay? Anakin your scaring me;" you confirmed before trying to find out if he was feeling like himself. You needed to lnow if he was going to turn and attack you or not. You had to be ready, he may have dropped his saber but youd seen what he'd done to padme without it. You didnt want to be the next one on his list.
"Anakin is dead." He snarled, sharp and furious. It was manic he was desperate to distance himself from who he once was. You drew a breath nodding to him, raising your hands slowly in a surrendering motion as you felt his force swirl around him erratically smothering you in a thickening cloak of raw power.
"W-who has taken his place?" You tried not to fear the answer, fear him. But he was glareing at you so intensely it almost physically hurt.
"Vader. Darth vader." You flinched, swallowing dryly. So it was true, he wasnt just becoming a dark jedi, but a sith. A true sith apprentice, one day a sith lord like the old tales. But you managed to take it in your stride simply nodding along with him.
"And what is darth vader going to do? I-is he; are you going kill me? Now that obi-wan is gone and the jedi are being eradicated" with that he relaxed. The acceptance soothed him, his rage receded as if he understood you werent going to argue or harm him. You felt an overwhelming sadness at that. He was so defensive and vulnerable yet youd never noticed before. He didnt reply the silence was deafening, you could only assume the worse.
"It okay vader... its okay of you need to; just at least let me help fix you up first alright?" You reassured him holding back tears. You knew this was a possibility. Knew he might kill you anyway to truly set himself free of the order. And you were willing to do that for him, to die for him to release himself from the shackles of the order.
"Thank stars its your right at least you wont lose another hand, well youll need a new prostetic and your shoulders fucked for now but we can;" you continued babbling trying not to think as you began healing him slowly, carfully letting your force flow through you to at least sooth his pain. He stared the whole time gazing almost blankly at you. Not evern hissing or flinching as you worked over the burns.
"Were you telling the truth?" His voice carried a vulnerable lilt to it. Like a child asking a parent if they were truly forgiven after being naughty. It was a small voice one youd never heard him use before. You stopped what you were doing and sat straighter giving him your undivided attention, yet it was you who felt like you were under a microscope.
"Is what you said true? About the order... the dark. Your feelings... your love?" He struggled to voice the words aloud but had to. And just like he had to ask you knew you had to answer.
"Yes. I havent ever truly cared for the order, but i did fear them. I stayed because i had people i was afraid of losing" you looked down still feeling shame. It was so ingrained into you that everything you thought and felt was wrong you could'nt help but be nervous revealing it so intimately.
"But eventually you have to be true to yourself and accept it. Even if it means getting yourself killed. If thats the case I'll die free and honest" you summarised tryingnto let him know you understood and you were at peace with your impending demise, especially if that ps what he needed.
"And your love? Was that a truth you had to face? The thing you couldnt lose...The person you were afraid of losing?" He asked again this time more desperate. He raised a hand to yours, clasping your wrist tightly and pulling it from his wounds. You closed your eyes sighing.
"Im here arent I?" You chuckled nervously motioning around you. Trying to deflect and make him assume what he wanted to save yourself the embarrassment. But he shook his head a growling at you in frustration, irritated at your refusal to answer him directly.
"No. Thea I need to hear you say it. I need to know the truth. Tell me." His frustration rose and his grip grew tighter making you wince. Your eyes searched his, pleading for him to let this go. Whats the point in pouring your heart out to him now?
Tumblr media
His gaze was stern, brows pinched and jaw set firm, twitching in anger as the seconds slowly ticked away in silence as you continued your staring match. Finally you gave in looking away afterall you didnt have to look at him to bare your soul to him.
"Say what? That ive been madly inlove with you since i was a child? That i didnt understand what it was untill it was too late? That i adore you? That i always pushed myself harder and harder just so i could keep up with you and we wouldn't be separated? So i could be there if you ever needed me? That i could be strong enough to save you if you needed it?" You managed to wokr up the courage to look at him and gently twisted your hand from his grip and raised one slowly to his face. Cupping his jaw softly. He closed his eyes pressing into your palm, twisting slightly nuzzling into you enjoying the soft comfort.
"Yes. Yes to all the above. I love you and it has always terrified me like nothing else in the world. I was told so many times by my master by yoda and everyone who noticed that i was wrong. That it was dangerous and itd destroy me but i didnt care. I love you An-Vader;" you stopped yourself short and pulled away from him before you broke down. You felt like your chest was in a vice, being crushed. Your stomach was churning unsettled by the mix of fear and warmth you were feeling. It felt unnatural to just be human and experience your own emotions without resisting.
Vader followed your hand unconsciouly before capturing himself. Frowning in disappointment as the soothing touch fell away from him. He let you retreat knowing you you needed to distance yourself to get this off your chest once and for all. He was prepared for tears, and frustration and cursing. But he wasnt ready for the dark turn your words took.
"Fuck i even pulled clovis aside and threatened to skin him alive when he started to interfere; and i wasnt bluffing i was going to do it. I had a plan on how i was going to get away with it too. i scared him and myself. i couldnt find it in myself to be jealous of padme or resent her becasue i just wanted you to be happy. And if her love made you happy that was enough for me" your words pulled your force,making it thrum once more igniting under the surface with an eager malice as you remebered the fear. The promise you made to clovis as he trembled at the thoughts you were pushing into him. Youd gone too far that day. You knew you had, forcing him to see his own torture in his minds eye. It wasnt the jedi way. Youd avoided him after that. Not wanting to relive it, far too frightend of your own commitment to your threat. Youd have done it. Youd do anything for Anakin.
"She didnt, she never actually;" Vader began speaking searching for the words to explain himself. As much as he didnt want to belive it he knew there was only one explination for padme's refusal. He wasnt enough. His love and devotion wasnt enough to keep her by his side. He trembled, lip quivering as he turned to look you in the eye and finally with a shaky breath he admitted outloud what you both knew to be true.
"She has betrayed me. She wouldnt come with me y/n. In the end she didnt want me enough. I did everything for her. All this for her and she abandoned me her love wasnt enough to stand by me." He broke down, he didnt understand. Didnt want to, the pain was too much. He had sacrificed everything for her survival. And he sees now it was in vain. He'd been living a lie for her and she didnt see what it had done. What she had cost him. What he was willing to pay for her to be safely by his side.
You inched closer as he crumbled, mouring his love. His loss, his failure. It cut you, twisted cold knives in your gut. How? How could she have done this? Didnt she see what there marriage had cost them? Cost Anakin. No. How could she? Padme was free, she had nothing to lose. To her she had a powerful, respected ,handsome husband who she could have exciting secret couplings with when ever she wished. She got to run around in her own exciting forbbiden romance reality.
Yet Anakin could have lost everything he had worked for . All his years of blood sweat and tears would have been for nothing. He'd have lost his home,family, freinds, job his entire world would have crumbled around him if he'd been caught. And in the end he gave it all up willingly, falling from grace so thoroughly just to save her life. And it wasnt enough.
"But you didnt run... you didnt abandon me..your feelings are real, they have to be" you were pulled out of your thoughts by him grasping you, his hand coming to your cheek. You gasped as he pushed forward fingers trailing down to your jaw thumb lightly, ghosting your lower lip and then with a languid twist his fingers rose once more to settle on your cheek again.
Its was like he was mapping out your features. Fascinated and in awe. You blinked at him speechless from the delicate feather light touches. He'd never done anything like this before. His eyes became haunting as the yellow shrunk giving way to his puplis that grew wider. It was like he were seeing you for the first time, releasing the tight grip on his own restraint. Just as you were about to break the silence he spoke again, this time softer.
"You... you just threw away everything for me. Risked everything to protect me, just as i did for her. You truly love me. More then the others; more then my own wife. Im sorry, sweet angel im so so sorry i never saw it before." He apologised slidingmhis hand to cup the back of your neck and tipped forward pressing his own forehead to yours.
"I will not forsake you as she has done me. Do you hear me? I will not, i swear to you Thea. Come with me. Join me" the vow caught you off gaurd. This was something you only dreamt of. A fantasy youd kept in secret. He closed his eyes arching up pressing a kiss to your head inching closer and pulled you to rest on his collar bone. His arm now dropping to coil around you as best as they could with the damage done to his prostetic. You leant into him letting yourself curl into him, closing as much space as you could between the two of you.
"Join me? Please? We can... we can build something. Be something greater than what we were designed to be. Make an empire that will bring peace, that will punish the wicked greed festering in the galaxy" you shuddered feeling a sob bubble up. The guilt and elation both clashing in an overwhelming storm of emotion youd never been allowed to experience before. Tears began flowing once more as you tried to latch onto something familiar, something comforting. But there was nothing, it was all brand new and frightening.
"But what about Padme? Arent you going to try and convince her again? Or sidious? He will kill me im not strong enough to join him he'd never;" your words were mumbled, sentences torn apart by weak sobs and soft sniffles. You were desperately trying to find some stability, some comfort in all the chaos. And you were most comfortable when denying yourself everything youd ever truly wanted.
"Padme is not my concern any longer. Its time i stopped kidding myself, she showed where her loyalties lie. She was willing to let me; the so called love of her life, her husband, the father to her child; die at the hands of obi-wan becuase i chose another more powerful path" You shook your head disagreeing in mumbled hlf sobs weeping into him still unable to really understand what he was saying, you heard the words but it didnt register. You didnt want to risk believing them incase this was a trick, a ruse to ruin you completely.
"You were not. You who has been by my side, and loved me in secret. You stood up against obi-wan to protect me, thats the loyalty and courage a true wife should have. I will not ignore that sacrifice" he said louder, a grit to his voice determination and authority pouring from him. He wanted you to listen. To truly listen and see this for what it was. This was the defining moment of both your lives. The moment you both truly found oneanother and began walking the same path, marching towards a future that would give the both of you everything youd ever wanted and needed.
He honestly belived that both of you had been drifting through this life, mearly exsisting waiting for this moment where the force finally unites you both. He could feel it now, see clearly for the first time in years. The sleepless nights, doubts and fear of his own desires and marriage came to an end and al. He knew was that this was where he had meant to be. Here with you standing on the dawn of a new era for the galaxy.
"Sidious will not harm you. I will not allow that. You are loyal to me. You are mine. And i will fight to,protect you as you have fought for me today." His words poured, hands grasping you tighter as you cried still weakly holding onto the past. Your own doubt and fear clouding your resolve. He hated it. The way you crumbled so completely into him, you were strong. Always so strong but here and now you were lost and overwhelmed. It was down to him to pull you through. To guide you back and show you your place amongst all the changes.
"But im a jedi; vader dont... dont toy with me. I know you need to kill me and its okay. Its okay, im ready. I knew; you dont have to;"
"You are no longer a jedi. Look. Your saber...see?" He cut you off quickly, a snarl. Then he let out a breath before tipping his head to your saber and explained gently. You frowned at him before leaning to the saber youd discarded beside the both of you as you slumped to the ash. With a quick look to Vader you ignighted your saber only to yelp and drop it as soon as the red glow shone from the hilt.
"Oh... oh stars what?" You blreathed out fear and shame flushing through you. Vader moved bringing the saber between you both again ingiteing it again needing you to face the reality of your new predicament.
"You bled it Thea. Somehow while your kyber was still sat inside your saber. I haven't even managed to bleed mine yet. But you? It seemes you have been much closer to the dark side than me for a while" he hummed flicking his gaze from your awe struck face and the now red saber. It was odd seeing one so close without being attacked. It was raw, powerful. He could feel the rage and distress from within it, he knew he was feeling your own discontent through the hilt. But at the same time there was almost a relief? You were at peace with the red kyber. There was an understanding. He could only assume youd been fighting it for a long time.
"I think that is what made obi-wan retreat. He realised you were serious and willing to do what ever it took. That you meant every word and if he had stayed he would be fighting a powerful woman with no jedi rules to follow" he pondered outloud still watching you trying to decipher your thoughts. He could see how this was a moral dilemma. You seemed to return to him from the shock and gave a half smile taking the saber from him with a lightly nod and clipped it to your belt.
"He feared for his life and ran" he smirked as you scoffed at that rolling your eyes at him. He released a breath he didnt realise he'd been holding as you seemed to have gatherd yourself together with an odd acceptance.
"Once i have gained the knowledge i need i will end sidious and We shall rule. You and me Thea. The jedi order and all those who stand in our way will fall;that is if you want to join me? Become the force wielder you were born to be" he ducked down following your eyes as they dipped away from him, his uninjured hand tipping your chip up once more. You flicked your eyes to his, the amber was almost golden and shone with a sincere pleading. He was being honest.
"Become the woman you were meant to be. Im asking you take this final step with me please. Come with me, serve me, stand beside me; where you belong take your place along side me and rule. Will you help me make them all pay?" You swallowed whimpering quietly lowering your eyes to your saber resting in your lap and then locked eyes with him again. What was there to lose now? You had nothing now. Nothing but the freedom to choose.
"Yes of course i will. Id do anything for you" you managed to speak through the thickening lump in your throat, managing to push through the emotional whirlwind that encased the two of you.
"And i you. Perhaps it is not too late for us, maybe we can both finally break our chains and find the true love we have always craved"
"Dont say things like that, you love padme and that wont change. And thats okay Vader." you grunted into him still weakly trying to deny what had just happened. Still convinced that Vader was lost in his own feelings and hurt by his wife. Refusing his love for her out of spite.
"You love many people, why would you think im any different. I have always held you close to my heart. I do love you, i thought i loved padme more. But... I was young and foolish, you were jedi and untouchable she wasnt. I loved you enought o never risk you, yet i didnt do the same with her. Maybe i was wrong?" He sighed pondering hos own reasoning and short comings. Maybe he should have giving things more thought before jumping the gun the way he had. He would admit after his marriage hed been torn, happy to have a slice of normality but felt an uncomfortable pain when he'd watched your face drop at the news.
"Fuck anakin really must be dead. He's never been wrong before" you laughed slapping at him playfully. He grunted pushing you back making you fall back into the ash calling you a brat.
"Oh thank god theres still some sass in there, for a second there i though vader was going to be a boring old fart" you both chuckled at that and for a second there was nothing else. No responsibilities, no betrayal no jedi of sith. It was just the two of you chuckling at your own antics as youd done so many times a children. Before everything real and pure had been stolen away and twisted for someone elses gains.
Tumblr media
"Come. We should go he isnt patient" vader spoke glancing up the ridge as he felt Sidious approach looking down the bank to the both of you. He stood with a grunt dragging you up beside him with useing the force. You gasped lightly at the way his life force acquainted itself with you in a new familiarity. It was forbidden to use the force this way, touching carelessly could cause unbreakable force bonds, your own life forces could mingle and become reliant on one another. It was almost seen as rude and obscene to let your force touch someone else outside of healing and battle.
You eyed him flushing but said noting, instead shyly opened yourself up to him as you both began to climb up the bank towards sidious. You felt unsure as you followed vader, but you trusted him. Sidious might not have wanted you but... would he real1ly deny another corrupted jedi? Your answer came as you approuched him, he peered around vader to you and his face lit up into a sinister grin. He nodded eyes glinting with glee, it would seem he was pleased with his two for one deal.
"Come, let's get both of your injuries tended to and then we can discuss our next objectives" you relaxed visibly at that before letting Sidious lead you both away. You weren't sure what was going to come next, and selfishly you didn't care. All you knew was for the first time in your life, you'd made the choice. And you will stay beside Vader for along as he allowed you to. You will not turn your back on him. Not now, not ever.

The two had returned in the early hours of the next day.
Lovisa hadn’t done anything but sit around and wait for them, she couldn’t even sleep, and refused, where Beru had offered her a bed.
The Princess’s chest ached, as she watched Anakin carry his mothers body, towards the farm, and without saying anything to his new family, he continued, into their home.
"Snips." Lovisa looked at her friend, who seemed deeply troubled, she was breathing heavy too, and her hands slightly shook. "What happened?"
"Lovey." Ahsoka grabbed hold of her wrist, and pulled her away from the three, so that they could talk in private.
"What happened back there?" Lovisa asked, once again, now that they were alone.
"Vis, it was horrible, no child should have to see their parent like that, like she was. She was still alive, when we got there, but, oh, god, it was bad, so, so bad, she had been suffering for so long, tied up to some rack. Then she… she died in his arms."
"Fuck." The princess cursed, completely taken back, as she clutched her chest.
"That's not all, after she died, something in him just sort of snapped, I couldn't break him out of it, I couldn't, I tried, Lovey, but I failed."
"What? What did he do?" Lovisa asked, growing even more worried.
"You should ask him, yourself, I can't repeat it." Ahsoka then walked away from her, shaking her head.
They had held a small funeral for Shmi Skywalker, Anakin had been the one to dig his mothers grave, and bury her beneath.
Lovisa and Ahsoka had stood by the side, as her family surrounded her.
"You were the love of my life." Cliegg spoke. "Kind, gentle, and generous, to anyone who needed it, no matter what situation was going on in your own life, you taught me to be a better person, and my biggest regret is not having enough time with you."
Anakin had requested some time alone with his mother, and they had all granted it to him.
But eventually, Lovisa had decided she’d given him enough space, and it was time to get answers.
She had found him in one of the farms workshops, he was stood at a work bench, messing around with some parts, fixing them, she realised.
"Life seems so much more simple, when you're fixing things." He said, his voice came out harsh, as he held back all his emotions, his throat was dry, as well, from the desert sand.
"Anakin..." Lovisa started. "What happened back there?"
Anakin kept his head down, as he continued to work on some sort of charm.
"Ani" She sighed, taking a step closer to him. "Whatever it was, Ahsoka seemed really troubled by it. Whatever happened, you can tell me. Please, please tell me."
Her heart beat loudly, as she waited for a reply, she slightly chewed on her lip.
"I told her not to come, but she didn't listen."
"I asked her to go with you." Lovisa replied.
"You shouldn't have done that." He glared at the girl.
"I just want to understand." She laid a hand on his shoulder.
He took a deep breath, before seeming to change his mind about calming down, turning on her, sharply.
"I killed them." He snapped at her. "I killed them all. Not just the men, but the women, and the children, too, I slaughtered them!" His voice rose, as did his anger, at the memory of last night. "They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals, every single one of them. I hate them!"
Lovisa gasped at what he had admitted, what he confessed to her.
"They tortured her, for a month, she suffered and I couldn't help her, they wouldn't let me go to her! They're jealous of me, the council and Obi-Wan, they're jealous of me, and they're holding me back, I could have prevented it, but they wouldn't allow it, made out that I was the weak one, but If I had done something, she'd still be alive. I'm stronger and more powerful, than them, and they can't stand it."
Lovisa had nothing to say to him, she couldn't offer anything, she stared at him in pure shock.
"She's dead, my mother is dead, and I didn't help her." His anger had changed into sadness, as tears pulled from his eyes. "She's gone, she's gone forever, and I'm never going to see her again." He wept.
In his anger, Anakin had stepped closer to the girl, and now, as he allowed his grief to consume him, he fell into her arms, dropping his head onto her shoulder, as he continued to cry for his mother.
Lovisa wrapped her arms around him, offering him comfort that he soar out from her.
Her fingers tangled in his hair, as she soothingly played with it.
"It's okay." She whispered to him. "It's okay, she's at peace now, she's not suffering anymore, it's okay."
Anakin hadn’t been able to pull himself together, for some time, and Lovisa had held him, her fingers rubbing his scalp, as she rubbed his back, saying soothing things, into his ear, until eventually he rose to his full height, and was able to carry on with life, as if any of it hadn’t happened.
The three had decided that they would need to return back to Naboo, and to the Lake district, seemingly as their chapter had been wrapped up here, and there was still a threat looming over the princess's head.
Lovisa sat between her two friends, no one would say anything, but the tension was thick.
"We need to stop, for the night." Ahsoka decided, suppressing a yawn.
"No, we'll keep going." Anakin refused, as he fought to keep his eyes open.
"We haven't slept in almost four days, Skywalker, you've drifted asleep enough times to know we should stop, and Lovisa can barely keep her head up."
"She's fine, she can sleep if she wants to." Anakin rolled his eyes, as he kept the arm that the girl was currently leaning on, still.
"We're stopping." Ahsoka pushed.
"It's more important that we get back."
"We're stopping?" Lovisa shot up, seeming alert, at the prospect of sleeping in an actual bed.
"Yes."
"No."
"Look, there's an Inn, over there, at least until sunrise, we all could use it, even the pups."
"Yes, we'll stay at the Inn, for the remaining of the night, it will do us all some good." Lovisa decided.
"Vis-" Anakin went to refuse, but when he looked at her, he knew he couldn't. "Fine, but as soon as the sun is up, we're gone."
Upon seeing the three teenagers, the innkeeper, a plump elderly woman, had given them two bedrooms, one for the boy, and one for the two girls, as she had told them that it was improper for the three of them to share, and so they had no choice but to accept the keys, as they hid their puppies under their cloaks.
"Did you talk to Skywalker?" Ahsoka had asked, as the two laid in bed, together, facing one another.
"I did." Lovisa admitted.
"And?"
"He told me what happened." She sighed.
"What, and that's all you have to say about it?"
"What else am I supposed to say, Snips?"
"Lovey, he killed an whole village of people, I watched him do it, there were innocent people there."
"You didn't seem to have a problem with it, when he dealt with those men in the forest."
"Because it was a completely different situation. They were trying to kidnap you, and they weren't children."
"They killed his mother, kept her alive enough to torture her, and then she died in his arms. And Cliegg said himself that they were barely human, but monsters."
"But the whole village? Not all of them could be."
"I trust Anakin, he did what he thought was right."
"He did it for revenge." Ahsoka cut her off.
"Were they really innocent if they were there, they would have just grown up to their surroundings, done it to others, others who are innocent, no one deserves to go through what Shmi did, it could happen to you, or me, or anyone. Anakin would never kill someone who didn't deserve it."
"He's a Jedi, Lovisa, it's against the code to kill an unarmed person."
"He will never do something like this, again, I promise you, Ahsoka, he's a good person. He's the chosen one."
"Look, I like him, Lovey, I do, but can we really trust him?"
"We can, he would never do anything to harm us, God picked him, for a reason, and he wouldn't make a mistake, like that. We have to keep this to ourselves, and pretend it never happened, he did the world an favour by getting rid of such evil creatures."
"You really believe that?"
"I do."
"Then I guess I can convince myself of that, too." Ahsoka looked down, as she chewed on her lip, deep in thought.
Lovisa sat up, lifting the duvet off of her.
"I should go check on him." She thought out loud.
Ahsoka didn't reply, instead, turning around on her other side, her back facing the princess.
Lovisa took this as a good response, to leave.
She stood in front of the door to his room, for the night, in just a pale blue silk night gown, thinking about what she was going to say to him.
She forced herself to knock on the wood, before thinking about it, and as she begun to regret her decision, and call herself all sorts of insults, it opened.
There he stood, he wasn't wearing an item of clothing on his top half, and was in his black trousers, like always.
Lovisa felt her cheeks grow red, as she pried her eyes off of his chest, and looked up at his face, his hair hung in front of his eyes, as he looked down at her, leaning his forearm on the door frame.
"Vis?" He asked.
She blinked. Twice.
"Anakin." She said, she couldn't think of anything else.
"What are you doing, here?" he studied her. “Awake.”
Lovisa swallowed, before taking a breath, then remembered why she did come here.
"I wanted to check up on you, make sure you're doing okay." She told him. "Are you doing okay?"
He looked past her, not having an answer.
"I am not sure." He replied, honestly.
"Would it help if I kept you company?" Lovisa found herself saying.
"You wanna come in?" He furrowed his brows.
"If you'll allow me."
He nodded, his eyes on the floor.
"I'd like that." Anakin looked at her, as his eyes swam with emotion.
She smiled at him, a kind, comforting smile.

Iconic Homerotice Betrayals: Round 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*I actually haven't been in a convention for 10+ years so I don't know if that's still true.
Round 2 Directory
Context:
Anakin/Obi-Wan
Summary by Anonymous Contributor
Imagine this. You are Obi-Wan Kenobi. Your jedi master (basically your teacher & parent), finds this random ass kid on a backwater planet, promises to teach him against the wishes of basically every jedi master with a say in this, gets killed and saddles you with the promise to teach the kid. You are now a 25yo with a 10yo kid. That kid is the chosen one. His name is Anakin Skywalker.
For years you love the kid, raise him and teach him to the best of your ability. You see him knighted, and you fight along with him in a galaxy-wide war. He is the one who has your back. You trust him with your life and the lives of your men. Sometimes he makes crazy plans, but usually it all works out. He gets a student of his own, and you find yourself co-parenting a teenage girl and everything is ok, it looks like you're gonna win the war and be able to have peace again.
Wrong.
Your men turn against you and your people are slaughtered. Leading the assault on your temple and slaughtering the younglings? Anakin. You go to the senator he has been close with since he was a child and find out not only is he married, no. He's also got a kid on the way. So you stow away on her ship to get to where he is, when you get there he almost chokes the senator to death and you fight, because "if you're not with me, then you're against me" he said, and you're not with him on this. He was your brother, and you had to cut off all 3 of his remaining limbs and leave him to burn on the lava planet of mustafar.
You take his wife to a medic space station, she gives birth to not one but TWO kids, and then proceeds to die of a broken heart. To make sure the children are safe, you split them up, giving the girl, Leia, to a trusted friend, another senator, and taking the boy, Luke, to Anakin's step-brother.
For a decade you hide, wasting away, unable to process the genocide of your people, until Leia is abducted and your senator friend contacts you to help. While trying to rescue her, you find out the bastard didn’t even have the decency to die but instead became Darth Vader, a sith lord. You’re still too traumatized, too cut off from your powers, to give him a proper fight. He burns you, and you’re saved. You rescue Leia, but you have to make a sacrifice, knowing he will follow you if you split away from the group of refugees, making sure they and Leia will survive. You fight but its not really a fight, and he traps you to die a slow death under a pile of rocks.
But then you realise that it can’t end like this, you fight, and you win. He says “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.” absolving you of your guilt. You could kill him, but you don’t. You walk away. You’re a jedi. You have no interest in killing him, you’ve done it once already.
Years later, Leia is once more in Vader’s hands. You go to rescue her with Luke, whose aunt and uncle have just been killed by the empire. Once more, you sacrifice yourself, fighting Vader as a distraction for the rescue mission. You will not win this. You know it. But when Vader kills you, you become more powerful than he could ever have imagined.
You help guide Luke, and eventually, Vader is defeated, not by Luke, not by Obi-Wan, but by the light still within him, and Anakin Skywalker dies free of darkness. You reunite to watch over the future together as force ghosts. The End.
Sasuke/Naruto
Summarized by anonymous contributor
Two traumatized orphans find kindred souls in each other (even if they're too emotionally stunted to admit it even to themselves). They both grow stronger, but then Sasuke grows jealous of Naruto's progress. He's obsessed with strength, needing to get revenge for his family, and Naruto threatens that. Sasuke decides he's not getting the strength he needs from the village, so he leaves- but Naruto chases him. They face off in a dramatic waterfall battle before the giant statues of historical figures (that also had a friends-to-enemies thing, let's go Symbology), and Sasuke manages to beat him. He swears he wants to kill him, but when he finally has the chance, he just hangs over Naruto's unconscious body... face to face, just staring at him from inches away... before he gives up. He can't kill him, even if he refuses to admit to himself.
Why.
Fast forward several years, Sasuke is 16 and "evil", Naruto is OBSESSED with getting strong enough to bring Sasuke home. They fight - over and over and over again, Naruto trying Desperately to bring Sasuke home, and Sasuke refusing over and over again. Everyone tells Naruto it's a lost cause, but he refuses to give up. And somehow, Sasuke never works up the will to kill Naruto.
Eventually they work past it all and end up joined at the hip (and in gay love, no matter what Kishimoto tries to say).

Protective Scenarios!
A\N: Yesterday, I finished the Rise of Skywalker, so I decided to start writing for Kylo Ren (Ben Solo)! (Characters- Kylo Ren, Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker.)
Kylo Ren: Even as just friends, Kylo has always been protective. Therefore, he made a bridge between your guys' minds in order to speak to you using the Force and sense you. It was constantly on his mind, the question of where you were and are you safe, it practically made him paranoid. Quite frankly, it hurt him to be away from you, sure, he could survive about a day or two, but that's with communicating with you using the Force. So, you can probably imagine what Kylo's reaction was upon hearing that you fought Rey and sustained some serious injuries: No doubt he lashed out, and killed the messenger and asked to have his ship prepared immediately. He used the Force to sense you and your location, and arrived as fast as he could.
Beaten, and although alive, just barely. Furious is an understatement to describe what in Kylo's body possessed him to feel a pure rage, a hatred to Rey from that point onwards. While he brought you back and took care of you personally, he blamed himself for your getting hurt in the first place. When he finally found and confronted Rey, his temper flared beyond imagination, he attacked recklessly. Rey seemed to instantly understand where this newfound strength and recklessness came from. He managed to strike her in her side and he left her to die, to come back to you.
Anakin Skywalker: Ani trusts you with his life, really and he trusts you. However, Anakin can never help but be protective of you, because he loves you, really. It's sort of like a go-to thing for him, but he's always respectable, asking things like, "Do you need help with them?" or "Hey, I could step in, if you want?" But, after he lost his mother and slaughtered the entire species of her torturer's, that's when it really spiked.
Especially upon seeing you struggle with a guy or someone and sensing your uncomfortableness, it makes him instantly come up, and instead of being respectable like he used to, he would resort to both insults and threats and violence.
Luke Skywalker: Luke has a mild protective vibe, I think. I think he's more the type to let you deal with it yourself and if you need any help because of the constant trouble of being annoyed, spoken to or even hit on, he's up for it. (Sorta like his dad.) It always tends to be when you accompany him, a Jedi in-training but not necessarily a Padawan (Considering how Obi and Yoda taught him.) Some random person just can't stop eyeing you, and when they come up to you, making small talk, calling you "cutie" and whatnot...
You tell the person to back off, go away, all of it, and once they seem too determined, that's when Luke feels your mood change, and he's on it. He's not very violent, using a tone of firmness to get the person to leave. If that does not work, he'll just take you away.

im making headcanons again for star wars and you cant stop me -the first time Anakin tried Obi-Wan's "tea" he had to spittake because what the kark, Master, why is it s p i c y ? Anyways, turns out spending a year or more on Manda'yaim gets you real into behot teas, and Obi-Wan has had a soft spot for Shig ever since he was introduced to it while on the run from Kyr'stad. - Growing up in the temple on Coruscant was fun and all, but what was even better was sneaking out of the temple- and in turn, seeing how far away Obi-Wan could get from his minders before eventually having to turn back. We may think of Obi-Wan as some sort of pinnacle of control, boiled essence of mastery of the force- but in reality? He was Chaos Untold on the creche masters.
-Jango Fett was never particularly "willing", per se, to make a clone army. While he had fallen, yes, while he had suffered, yes, he was a Mandalorian still- even exiled from Mandalorian space, even Dar'Manda as he named himself, even as he divorced himself from the crown of Mand'alor. He was Haat'Mando'ade, and he followed the super commando codex. There's this one line, said by the Kaminoans- something about how the best way to control a slave is to make it think it is free- and we all know of Dooku's machinations. Do you really think Jango would not recognize the man who slaughtered his people at Galidraan? Do you really think he would agree to manufacture child soldiers for the Republic? Even- no, especially after being enslaved himself, how could anyone believe him capable of turning on his own morals like that, without serious Sith Majicks afoot? - I'm not saying that there aren't force sensitive clones, but I am saying that midiclorian counts are pure bullshit for actually measuring one's connection to the force- i would think that they are somewhat like a different organism all together, some symbiotic being that can congregate around force users, but doesn't always- meaning there are force users with low midiclorians but high control in the force, and those with high midiclorians but seemingly no control of the force at all. Midiclorians are also likely not genetic, if they are a symbiotic single cell organism. - ki adi mundi is a bitch and i hate him - While the Mandalorians do not trust the Jedi, that does NOT mean that they are unkind to force users- yes, Kyr'stad may have a harsher view of them, but Kyr'stad is a terrorist group first, and Mando'ade second. Most Ad'e see force sensitives as seers, wise ones, and gifted warriors- they have special training, and special positions, they become treasured guards and Goran'e and Baar'ur'e, Alor'e of tribes and clans due to their visions or gifts. No Mandalorian worth their salt would ever give up a child due to their abilities, ka'ra blessed or not. - Most clones refer to themselves as the Vod'e- or the Vod'e An- Brothers All. First generation clones, trained by the Cuy'val Dar and Jango Fett himself, learned Mando'a straight from the source, and when the Alpha and First gen rank clones began teaching the next generations, they passed on the knowledge as well as they could. Most clones are at least passably fluent in the spoken tongue, and can, at a glance, finger count up to twenty in the language. Only the first few generations can reliably read Mando'a, and as far as is known, writing in the language has just been contained to the Nulls, and a select few of the Alphas. The Bond Between Us ~ 59
THE BOND BETWEEN US MASTERLIST

< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,460ish
Summary: You and your group go to Mos Eisley to find a ship to take you to Alderaan.
Notes: Please share your thoughts and I hate that I have to ask you to be kind. I know that some believe that I shouldn’t continue this story but our little star is a Skywalker and this is the Skywalker Saga. Besides, don’t you want to see if she becomes the Chosen One? I know my writing isn’t the greatest all the time, but please be patient and realize that I am human. Also, a reminder that Obi-Wan is based on Ewan McGregor.
Tumblr media
You wished that you could trust the Force—even trust Obi-Wan— in this situation, but the voice inside of you screaming to stay home was winning. The only reason you even made it out to Luke’s speeder was that Obi-Wan had a hold of your hand and R2 was basically pushing you out the door. That droid hadn’t changed one bit and was going to do anything to get you out the door. You wished that saving Leia could have gotten you out the door, but the overwhelming sense that nothing would ever be the same again was controlling your decisions.
Luke’s speeder was not meant for three adults and two droids, but you were all going to make it work. The droids got tied onto the back of the speeder while Luke took the driver’s seat, Obi-Wan took the passenger seat, and you sat in the middle. To give Luke space, you were practically on Obi-Wan’s lap, not that either of you minded. Both of you felt the need to constantly have contact with each other.
Luke stopped when the group stumbled upon a Sandcrawler with dead Jawas surrounding it. The three of you and the two droids unloaded the speeder and began inspecting the area. You would sense the trouble in the Force.
“It looks like the Sandpeople did this, alright,” Luke said. “Look. There’s gaffi sticks, bantha tracks. It’s just, I’ve never heard of them hitting anteing this big before.”
“They didn’t,” you responded. “We are meant to think they did.” You pointed at the tracks in the sand. “These tracks are side-by-side. Sandpeople always ride single file to hide their numbers.”
“These are the same Jawas that sold us R2 and 3PO.”
“These blast points, too accurate for Sandpeople,” Obi-Wan added, looking at the Sandcrawler. “Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise.” You scoffed and rolled your eyes, knowing that their precision had nothing on the Clones you used to work with.
“Why would Imperial troops want to slaughter Jawas?”
“You have something they want,” you replied, drawing attention to the two droids.
“If they traced the robots here, they may have learned who they sold them to. And that would lead them back… home!” Luke rushed toward his speeder.
“Wait, Luke!” Obi-Wan shouted after him. “It’s too dangerous!”
Luke paid Obi-Wan’s plea no mind as he raced to his speeder. You were quick to catch up and jump into the speeder before Obi-Wan or Luke could stop you. Luke didn’t say a word as he drove the speeder as fast as he could back to his home. You could already sense what had happened there. When you pulled up, there was dark smoke billowing out of the burning homestead. You and Luke jumped out.
“Uncle Owen!” Luke shouted as he stumbled toward the home. “Aunt Beru! Uncle Owen!”
Suddenly, Luke stopped. You slowly came up beside him and followed his line of sight to see what he was staring at. There, near the doorway, were the couple’s smoldering remains. You inhaled sharply and looked away, focusing on Luke. You were surprised at how well you could sense his emotions. They were rapidly changing from fear to anger to a new resolve that you couldn’t quite place. You were worried at how quick and dark his emotions were, similar to Anakin’s.
“Luke,” you said softly, placing a hand on your nephew’s shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”
“They were all I had left,” Luke admitted, breaking your heart.
“No,” you shook your head. “You have me and Obi-Wan now. We won’t let you be alone.”
~~~
Luke drove the two of you back to the Sandcrawler, where C3PO and Obi-Wan were burning the bodies of the dead Jawas. Solemn, Luke jumped out of the speeder and walked up to Obi-Wan, with you behind him.
“There’s nothing you could have done, Luke, had you been there,” Obi-Wan told the young man. “You’d have been killed, too, and the droids would be in the hands of the Empire.”
“I want to come with you to Alderaan,” Luke said resolutely. “There’s nothing here for me now. I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father.”
Obi-Wan looked at you but you quickly diverted your gaze. He sighed and then looked back at Luke. “Then to Mos Eisley we will go.”
~~~
Your group piled back into the speeder and headed for Mos Eisley. You focused on the landscape the majority of the way. Trying to allow yourself some time to process everything that was going on and what could possibly happen, you closed yourself off from Obi-Wan. He immediately sensed the divide and wished that you hadn’t felt the need to do that. Respecting your decision though, Obi-Wan simply took hold of your hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
Luke stopped the speeder on a bluff overlooking Mos Eisley. Everyone got out to stretch their legs. You and Obi-Wan stood hand in hand, looking over the view.
“Mos Eisley Spaceport,” Obi-Wan said. “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.”
Luke threw Obi-Wan a determined smile before the young man went back toward the speeder. Your husband then turned his focus on you as you kept your gaze on the spaceport.
“They’re still looking for us,” you whispered. “We have to be careful.”
“We will trust in the Force,” Obi-Wan responded. “It will guide us to someone who will get us to Alderaan safely and then we will help Leia.”
~~~
The streets of Mos Eisley were more crowded than you thought they would be. Luke drove the speeder slowly through the streets. You grew more and more concerned with the number of stormtroopers you kept seeing. A group of them ended up stopping the speeder. They looked at the two droids attached to the back of the vehicle.
“How long have you had these droids?” One of the stormtroopers asked.
“About three or four seasons,” Luke easily lied.
“They’re for sale if you want them,” Obi-Wan quickly added.
“Let me see your identification,” the trooper requested.
“You don’t need to see our identification.” You could sense Obi-Wan’s use of the Force on the stormtroopers.
“We don’t need need to see your identification.”
“These are not the droids you're looking for.”
“These are not the droids we’re looking for.”
“We can go about our business.”
“You can go about your business.”
“Move along.”
“Move along.” The stormtrooper waved your group through. “Move along.”
Luke didn’t hesitate to continue on. You felt little relief from being able to trick the stormtroopers. Luke parked the speeder in front of a rundown cantina. Jawas quickly ran up and began to examine the speeder.
“I can’t abide these Jawas,” 3PO said. “Disgusting creatures.”
“Go on, go on,” Luke shooed the Jawas as he got out of his speeder.
Obi-Wan helped you out, slipping your hood over your head gently before his fingers briefly caressed your cheek. He wanted to help you so badly, but knew that he wouldn’t get anywhere else you were ready to receive the help. He gave you a small smile before kissing your forehead. You smiled softly back at Obi-Wan as he took your hand.
“I can’t understand how we got by those troopers,” Luke said as the two of you came up to him. “I thought we were dead.”
“The Force can have a strong influence on the weak-minded,” Ben responded. “You will find it a powerful ally.” The three of you headed toward the cantina.
“Do you really think we’re going to find a pilot here that’ll take us to Alderaan?”
“Well, most of the best freighter pilots can be found here. Only watch your step. This place can be a little rough.”
The cantina was filled with a thin layer of smoke when you entered. There was an array of people and creatures scattered throughout the cantina. Obi-Wan guided you over to the bar, where he kept you closer to his side as he saw the way some of the cantina customers were looking at you. You looked around the area as Obi-Wan quickly started talking to a galactic pirate near you. You were too in your own head to hear Obi-Wan gently calling for you before he began guiding you over to a Wookiee.
“Are you alright, little star?” Obi-Wan quietly asked before you both reached the Wookie. You swallowed and nodded, not convincing Obi-Wan one bit. “Hello,” he turned his focus back to the Wookiee. “I heard that you have a ship that might suit our needs.”
The Wookiee responded with his name, Chewbacca, and that he was the first mate on a ship. He then asked what the two of you needed.
“We need passage to the Alderaan system,” Obi-Wan answered. “As quickly as possible.”
Chewbacca responded that he needed to talk to his Captain and that he’d have to talk to his captain first.
“Of course,” replied Obi-Wan.
Chewbacca nodded and went off to go find his captain. The two of you turned back toward the bar to see Luke being picked on. A human and an alien creature readied their weapons at Luke. You and Obi-Wan swiftly came up behind Luke.
“This little one isn’t worth the effort,” Obi-Wan told those aiming at Luke. “Come let me buy you something—“
A powerful blow had Luke sailing across the room. The creature in front of you drew a laser pistol from its belt and leveled it at you. Obi-Wan was quick to place himself in front of you.
“No blasters! No blasters!” The bartender shouted.
Without a second thought, Obi-Wan ignited his lightsaber and in a flash, one of the creature's arms was on the floor. Carefully and swiftly, Obi-Wan placed his lightsaber back on his belt. He took your arm and started pulling you toward Luke.
“Obi-Wan!” You quietly reprimanded. “What were you thinking? That was a dead giveaway about what you are!”
“What we are, my dear,” he corrected, brushing your concern aside. “It doesn’t matter anymore. We are leaving this planet anyway.” He let go of you in order to help Luke up to his feet.
“I’m alright,” Luke said.
Obi-Wan pointed to where Chewbacca was standing, signaling for them to come. “This is Chewbacca. He’s the first mate on a ship that might suit our needs.”
The three of you walked over to Chewbacca who led you over to a booth. The three of you and Chewbacca sat down before a roguish star pilot slipped into the seat next to his first mate. You could sense his cockiness radiating off of him in waves.
“Han Solo,” the pilot introduced himself. “I’m captain of the Millennium Falcon. Chewie here tells me you’re looking for passage to the Alderaan system.”
“Yes, indeed,” Obi-Wan replied. “If it’s a fast ship.”
“Fast ship?” Han repeated with a surprised scoff. “You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon?”
“Should we have?” You retorted.
Han wasn’t pleased with your response. “It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs.” You and Obi-Wan shared an unimpressed look. “I’ve outrun Imperial starships, not the local bulk cruisers, mind you. I’m talking about the big Corellian ships now. She’s fast enough for you, old man. What’s the cargo?”
“Only passengers,” Obi-Wan answered. “Myself, my wife, the boy, two droids, and no questions asked.”
“What is it? Some kind of local trouble?”
“Let’s just say we’d like to avoid any Imperial entanglements.”
“Well, that’s the trick, isn’t it? And it’s going to cost you something extra. Ten thousand in advance.”
“Ten thousand?” Luke questioned, shocked by the amount. “We could almost buy our own ship for that!”
“But who’s going to fly it, kid? You?”
“You bet I could!” Luke stood up to try and a point. “I’m not such a bad pilot myself! We don’t have to sit here and listen—“
“We haven’t that much with us. But we could pay you two thousand now, plus fifteen when we reach Alderaan.”
“Bail’s not going to be too happy that you’re giving away his money like this,” you warned Obi-Wan through his thoughts.
“He will be fine,” your husband responded. “It’s us and besides we are going to be saving Leia for the second time.”
“Seventeen, huh?” Han was surprised at the price. He leaned back and pondered it for a few moments. “Okay. You guys got yourself a ship. We’ll leave as soon as you’re ready. Docking bay ninety-four.”
“Ninety-four,” Obi-Wan repeated.
Han’s eyes found something behind your group. “Looks like somebody’s beginning to take an interest in your handiwork.”
You turned around to see four Imperial stormtroopers looking at the arm on the ground and talking to the bartender. The bartender pointed to the booth that you were at. Obi-Wan quickly pulled you up and led you and Luke out of the cantina before the troopers could notice.
~~~
Luke sold his speeder as 3PO and R2 met back up with your group, having been kicked out of the cantina. Holding Obi-Wan’s hand, you entered docking bay ninety-four with your group. Resting in the middle of the huge hole is a large, round, clearly beat-up, and pieced-together ship.
“What a piece of junk!” Luke exclaimed upon observing the ship in front of you.
Han came around, wiping his hands off with a rag. “She’ll make point five beyond light speed. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid. I’ve added some special modifications myself.” Suddenly, Chewbacca rushed up the ramp and urged the others to follow. “We’re a little rushed, so if you’ll hurry aboard, we’ll get out of here.”
Obi-Wan gave your hand a squeeze as the two of you headed up the ship’s ramp. You stopped about halfway up it and turned around. You had left Tatooine before with an unknown future ahead, and looking back on it now, it felt very similar to this. Obi-Wan had stopped to give you some time, allowing you to single when you were ready to continue into the ship.
The ship was more spacious than you that it would be on the inside. It was just as beat-up and pieced together on the inside as it was on the out. As you went to get yourself settled, you heard Han yell as he ran through the ship.
“Chewie, get us out of here!”

Obi Wan heard Owen's rifle fire though he didn’t turn to look.
He kept his full attention on the five individuals before him. He could sense their dark torment, but he could not stay his hand in sympathy at what had caused their turn.
Luke’s life was on the line. Owen and Beru as well. They would be mercilessly slaughtered, and Luke would either be killed with them or he would be taken to a worse fate, just as his father had been.
“Kenobi,” laughed the leader. “We shall be doubly rewarded then when we present your head to His Majesty.”
Obi-Wan watched all the red blades ignite and he held the gaze of the leader.
“Sidious does not give rewards,” he said. “He gives only pain and death.”
“Which we get to deliver,” stated one of the women. The Third Sister, Obi-Wan saw. “You got away last time, Kenobi. And all to guard the spawn of Anakin Skywalker.”
“He is dead,” Obi-Wan said, flicking his own blue blade on. “But yes, I will protect the boy.”

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞 [ 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒙 ]
summary : rex reels from the events on umbara
warnings : gn!jedi!reader, angst, umbaran arc, mentions of death, comfort, established relationship between reader and rex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐁𝐎𝐗, like he did everything else. what happened on umbara was horrific, but captain rex was still expected to carry out his duties. he couldn’t dwell on the deaths of his brothers, the fact he killed a jedi, or the fact that two of his brothers were almost executed for doing the right thing, even if it was reckless and stupid.
anakin skywalker knew about umbara and what happened there. his anger boiled inside of him and his face twisted with heat. krell was lucky he was killed there or he’d have to face anakin. the jedi knight didn’t understand why pong krell would ever do something like that, something so heinous and horrific. anakin halfway blamed himself for allowing the monster to be with his men, but the chancellor needed him. for what? he didn’t know, even after he had his meeting with him.
it’d been a few days since the takeover, the 501st being granted days off. it felt weird to be off, staying on coruscant instead of going wherever with general skywalker. rex appreciated it, but the more he found himself relaxing, the more his demons reached the surface.
he shot up out of his bed, another nightmare plaguing his mind. he should be used to them, considering he has them quite often. this one was different. this one depicted the brutal slaughtering of his men by pong krell over again. it was something he never wanted to relive, but his mind decided to plague him anyways. it was torture.
so, instead of staying in his cot, he got up and walked out of the barracks on coruscant. he didn’t care he was only in his blacks, he just wanted to get out of such a confining space.
as soon as he exited the barracks, he felt most of the weight move off of his shoulders. he felt the walls began to crumble, but he kept his composure as he walked further away from the barracks. it wasn’t until he saw you that he nearly lost it again.
you weren’t waiting for anyone in particular. you sat at a table outside, allowing the breeze to calm the nerves that ran through your veins. after the news of umbara, you found yourself unable to sleep. how could someone sleep after that?
you picked up your head from one of the reports you were working on to see captain rex slowly making his way towards you, looking like he’d seen a ghost. maybe he had. you didn’t push it past anyone. especially given what they’d been through.
“captain?” you spoke up, anxiety twirling in between the syllables.
“y/n,” he breathed a sigh of relief as he sat down in front of you. you knew something was wrong when he didn’t ask to sit down. he didn’t have to, rex just normally did.
“rex, what’s wrong?” you shoved your report aside, deciding it could wait. you watched as rex came to terms with the fact he’d had a nightmare. his eyes flicked from one of his hands to the other, deciding what the best wording was.
“i…i saw them,” he spoke softly, barely audible over the breeze. you heard him though, but you remained quiet. “i saw my brothers dead,” he finished. your heart broke all over again when you heard him say it, tears rolling down his cheeks. you had no idea what to say, but you knew that just being there would be enough.
“i should have known somehow,”
“no, rex, there’s nothing you could have done,”
“fives and jesse almost died because of him!” you’ve never heard him raise his voice, ever, but he was grieving, and you weren’t angry with him at all.
“i’m sorry,” he spoke up, shaking his head. you moved to sit next to him, grabbing his hands in your own.
“i know,” you whispered. you didn’t expect what happened next. you didn’t expect rex’s arms to be around you, enveloping you in a bone crushing hug. you hugged him back, even though you were taken aback by his actions.
rex was the first one to pull away, wiping the escaped tears from his eyes. he never broke down like that, and he probably wouldn’t do it ever again, but it felt so good.
“i’m here, rex, i’m here,” you reassured him. he nodded his head and kept his hands in yours. he’s never felt so small before, except when he was a cadet, but your gentleness was what made him feel so comfortable and so appreciated.
“i know,” he allowed a smile, to which you offered one right back.
