SHOTO TODOROKI WAS NOT ALLOWED MANY COMPANIONSHIPS THROUGHOUT HIS CHILDHOOD. he couldn’t have friends because he was forced to train as much as his body could handle. he didn’t have a good relationship with his mother like he wanted since she was never in the right headspace. and, he didn’t have the best relationship with his siblings either.

there had been no one to protect him from his father when he needed it the most and he had grown up conditioned to his ways. he figured he was okay because it was all he had known.

shoto todoroki never fully conceptualized the notion of being in a willing relationship with someone- having been entirely convinced no one would love him in that way or that no one would ever see past that he was ‘the kid of the almighty flame hero, endeavor.’

and all of this was right up until he met you.

you were patient with him despite how often you had to teach him things because he didn’t understand due to how much he was sheltered.

every time he looked at you, he felt a fluttering feeling in the pit of his stomach that he didn’t understand. for once in his life, he felt safe when he was around you and he never wanted to stop feeling it.

of course, his father disapproved but for the first time in what seemed like forever, he couldn’t find it in himself to care. he wasn’t quite sure what love felt like but he’s sure this is it.

when he comes home to see you’ve arrived early and started making food for him despite the fact that you also had long hours, he thinks he’s sure of it. when you wake him up on a rare day off with breakfast at the table in the kitchen, he’s almost sure of it. and when his eyes are glancing over at you and admiring how the moonlight grazes your face, he’s absolutely sure this is what love is.

there’s not a single doubt in his mind about you when he pulls you along with him to stand closer to the water to get a clearer look at you. not a single insecurity within him when he faces you and shoves his clammy hand into his pocket to pull out the box.

he has a clear, but very nervous, mind when he gets down on one knee and slowly opened it to reveal the ring that shimmered in the light. “i am not quite sure how to do this but i know that i really love you. when i think about the future, i don’t think of myself being with anyone else other than you. will you marry me, Y/N?”

your stunned silence would’ve begun to worry him had it not been for the tears pooling in your eyes. “oh my-, of course i’ll marry you sho’.”

shoto todoroki has never been happier than when he’s with you and he wasn’t planning on ever letting you go, as long as you’d have him.

3:28 a.m.

You jolted awake with sweat beading along your forehead. Memories of the nightmare you just had plague your thoughts. The comforter bunches up on your lap as you attempt to even out your breathing. As your shaking hands push the hair out of your face, a warm gentle hand starts rubbing your back.

“Honey, did you have a bad dream?”

You snap your head in the direction of the gruffy, but gentle voice aside you. Your wet eyes meet Shoto’s two-colored eyes that are barely opened.

You give him a guilty smile and a small nod of your head as you allow his warm arm to guide you to lay beside him, using his strong chest as a pillow.

No words are exchanged as his warm hand rubs your back. You begin to trace small patterns with your fingers on his chest. The sound of Shoto’s heartbeat and breathing begins to finally calm you down.

As you feel yourself finally falling asleep, you feel dread at the potential nightmares, but then immediate relief knowing Shoto will be on the other side to comfort you through it.

it’s weird, at first. holding someone’s hand. especially in public, where everyone can see and judge. you don’t remember the last time you held hands with someone out in the open. perhaps when you were younger and crossing the street. that was easy because you were a kid.

you’re no kid now.

no, you’re twenty-three, in college. you have a quirk—it’s not special or anything. you’re an ordinary person.

an ordinary person, crossing the street, bloody and bruised. there’s a limp in your sluggish walk and you’re selfish enough to think ‘why isn’t this guy carrying me?’ but he’s already carrying two children in his right arm while pulling you along with his left. he’s injured too—worse than you, even. and he’s able to pull you.

you want to look back at the mess, see what you just survived, you guess. but your head is pounding and the guy holding your hand so tight is whispering to the children to look at him. to not glance back at the massacre. it makes sense, so you listen too—swiveling your head to watch the hero. he’s nothing better to look at with that busted lip of his, or the way he’s covered in soot and muck, except everything else seems to be worse, thus you watch.

of course, he’s no show. he’s nothing like your late night sitcoms you’d watch before bed. what you’d always watch before bed.

((you wonder, seeing as it’s bound to happen, if the hospital would have a tv for you to watch your shows on.))

the ground rumbles, causing you to slip over. you don’t fall because of the hand already pulling you back up. it’s the hero, and he’s panicking, maybe. his eyes widen, glance around, bounce back and forth between two buildings that stand tall in front of you. he grunts to himself, walks faster, your fingers linking together. everything is spinning, bile rises in your throat, but you keep it down by focusing on your locked hands. faintly, in the back of your mind, past the ringing in your ears, you hear the sounds of wailing. and screams. and explosions. and confusion.

you keep focus on your hands while everything sounds like the end of the world.

((this could be one of those action movies you’ve seen before. you don’t think you’re the hero(ine) though. perhaps a measly side character..?))

the four of you make it between the tall buildings. one of the kids is passed out, so the hero carefully sets him down. the other one snivels and rubs his nose into the neck of the hero. you begin to cringe, but stop—reasoning that if you were a kid, you’d probably do the same.

the hero turns to you. “do you have a quirk?” it feels awkward explaining to him your quirk, but he makes no indication on how he feels about it. he just stares.

“to be honest then..” he looks away, mumbles something, before turning back again. “honestly, i think all you can do is run.” he’s brutally honest.

“so..then what?” you ask. it hurts to do much of anything. even speaking feels as if cement is sliding down your throat.

he doesn’t answer, though. it doesn’t really look as if he has an answer. and, eventually, you both get too tired, so you slip to the ground. both of the kids are sleeping, maybe the hero is too, but you aren’t. you’re too alert of your surroundings. every crash causes you to flinch. a car horn worsens your headaches. if you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were in hell.

twenty seconds after that thought, you can’t feel your legs. your chest is compressed and you gasp and jerk upwards. it’s dusty, you can’t see, but there’s a warm breath muttering affirmations against your cheek. wet, sticky tears drip down your cheeks.

the hand still holds yours.

a blessing, not a curse

Here’s a little Shoto blurb i wrote this morning hehe:

Shoto always thought his quirk was a curse. He had never considered the uses for it other than using it as a hero. Sure, he's warmed up a coffee or cooled down a room in the heat of summer, but he never considered the uses until you.

To be fair, very fair, which he often isn't to himself, he was a virgin before he met you. He had never considered making himself colder or hotter while he was inside you, or making his fingers colder or warmer. But he found out you love it and now he'll never stop.

"Sh-Shoto-" you whimper his name, hands tugging at his hair, "Ah-!"

"Shhh, my love," he leans back and nips at your thigh, "they'll hear.."

"H-How am I supposed to stay quiet when you're… you're.." your hands fly away from his hair and grip at the sides of the couch. You're in Momo's basement, the reunion party she planned is still going strong a floor above you.

"When I'm..?" Shoto asks. You clench down around his fingers with a gasp when he makes them colder. It sends a thrill right through him.

"Th-that! Oh god, Shoto, oh god," your thighs shake as you start to cum and Shoto presses them open roughly to put his mouth back on your clit.

You pulse around his fingers and you slap your hand over your mouth to muffle your cries.

"Oh, my love," Shoto moans, watching you shake as he pulls his fingers free. He presses a kiss to your thigh as you try to catch your breath.

“Let’s go,” you mumble, gripping at his shirt to pull him towards you, wrap your legs around his waist and pull him in to kiss him. You break apart panting, grinding against him. “Take me home.”

“Yeah- Yes, I will. Let’s go home.” Shoto breaks away from you, slowly, and you stand on slightly shaking legs to fix your skirt.
