my writing jumpscare, re zero, (implied/pre-) emijulisuba, acr 6 spoilers
"Subaru, listen," Emilia begins, catching herself fidgeting with the fabric covering the entrance to the cart, "have you ever missed people you don't know?"
"I'm afraid it contradicts the definition," Julius replies: even for a moment, pain and acrid bitterness appear on his face, and shame immediately penetrates Emilia to the bottom of her stomach. "You can't remember someone you don't know, and that's why you can't miss them"
"Hey, hey, since when have you become Subaru? Just because your name got eaten does not mean that you can take mine away!" Subaru elbows Julius: Emilia decides to decide that that was an accident due to the lack of space. "And also, stop with this traumadumping on Emilia-tan."
"Subaru!"
"Stop with this what?" Julius raises an eyebrow and smiles strangely: as if he is not offended not because he knows Subaru is joking, but because he agrees with him. Emilia doesn't like it at all.
(Although maybe she's overthinking it. How could she know how Julius smiles usually? She doesn't remember him. Subaru remembers, but she doesn't. Maybe Subaru knows what he's talking about, maybe Subaru knew Julius before like no one else, and that's what sets him apart from everyone else, he did what Emilia couldn't do...
No, she's still thinking nonsense.)
"Stop what needs to be stopped", Subaru snorts with that recognizable expression on his face when he himself does not know why he just said something — nope, still a dunderhead. Julius seems to notice it too: the corners of his lips twitch, and he rolls his eyes — Subaru elbows him again, and Emilia no longer manages to defend him.
"Subaru! That was a serious question, actually!" She stops herself. "Probably."
Immediately Subaru howls and wrings his hands:
"Emilia-tan! Everything you say is more serious to me than the law, fate, and the words of the great prophetess Hatsune Miku! My heart is broken that you have even doubted it!" He presses his hand to his chest dramatically, but after a couple of moments, dropping the pretense, he rests his chin on it. "I don't even know. Probably, yes? Most likely, yes."
"Most likely?" Emilia repeats, feeling really like a huge fool, hoping absurdly.
"Well, yeah, you know... Don't get me wrong, like... It's not anyone's fault, okay?" He raises his hands in warning. "Neither yours, nor even," he glances at Julius, "his, although with such a big head, he could... I'm kidding, okay, okay, just kidding. I, well... I miss people who know what a phone is."
He rubs the skin under his eyes and fidgets in place.
"Well... and yes, I guess I... I miss people from the country where I'm from, yeah. Very... It's a great place, you know. Good people. You know, it's hard to be a foreigner in a foreign country and all that."
Emilia allows herself a mirthless laugh.
"Don't tell me."
A splinter sticks out from one of the planks lining the bottom of the wagon. She pulls on its edge: it breaks off entirely with a soft crack. Emilia throws it out of the cart with a snap of her finger to not prick Rem with it, sleeping peacefully on the floor at their feet.
"But I'm not really talking about that, I guess," she frowns. "I mean, at least you know what they really are like."
Subaru blinks uncomprehendingly.
"What are you talking about?"
Emilia can't help but sigh. She suddenly becomes nervous and ashamed — she worries about trifles, such selfish trifles, thinks only about herself, and at a time like this, no less, — and besides, Julius's attentive gaze makes her uncomfortable, and that makes her even more ashamed.
How well did Julius and I know each other, she asked Subaru furtively before leaving Pristella, embarrassed by her own words to the horror of herself. And Subaru didn't like them — he looked at her painfully in response, almost like when she talked about Rem.
How should I know, he said sullenly, well, pretty okay, I guess? You've known him longer than I do. He nagged me, you know, like, I'm embarrassing you with all my clowning.
What a horror, Emilia replied then, covering her mouth with her palm, and it's not true at all, you've been promoted from a clown to a knight for a very long time.
Subaru then shouted "Hey!" and they changed the topic of that conversation, but Emilia remembers it now, shivering: How well did Julius know her? Would she embarrass herself in front of him with such nonsense, spoiling the good opinion she had earned from him by no other than a miracle? Or, on the contrary, will she be rude, refusing to share something she would have undoubtedly shared in the past? Isn't opening up again the best way to bring back a past connection?
"Well, it's just..." Pulling on a strand of hair, she winds it around her finger restlessly. "It's probably stupid."
"I think I'll go check on Anastasia-sama." Julius stands up, having understood Emilia perfectly, having understood her flawlessly, and she becomes so unbearably ashamed that she grabs him by the edge of his cloak:
"No! So... I mean, there's nothing special there, y-you can stay."
Julius raises his eyebrows:
"Okay," and sits down.
Emilia takes a deep breath to catch her breath.
"It's just... When I lived in the Elior Forest, there were... when I..." Swallowing a lump in her throat, she stares at the floor and blinks often; Julius moves again, trying to get up, and she puts her hand on his knee.
"The elves I froze — they stayed there," she says, unexpectedly loud and firm, and shudders at the sound of her own voice. "Frozen just like they were a hundred years ago. Someone is standing, someone is lying down. Someone did not have time to understand, someone..." Emilia exhales shakily and pulls a strand of hair down until her skin aches — Subaru takes her by the wrist. She smiles at him weakly.
"I talked to them. Every day. I was brushing the snow off them. I... imagined things. What they were like. It must be terribly stupid. And rude. I don't know anything about them. Maybe they wouldn't want me to like them. Maybe they wouldn't understand me at all."
"Wow," Subaru says, chewing his lip. "Damn, it's kinda like Pompeii."
"Like what?"
"Uh. Well, it's a city... was a city... It's kind of a famous story in my homeland — do you have volcanoes here, by the way?"
"Northwest of Kararagi," Julius responds immediately. "In the middle of the Crimson Hills, with the town of Zesperga at the foot. It's quite a peculiar place."
"Mmm," Subaru mumbles meaningfully. "Here's the thing with Pompeii, it was also at the foot of the volcano. And then after the eruption of the volcano happened — well, in general, it ceased to be."
"Oh."
Subaru is silent for a while, staring at one point.
"Yeah. My point is... They were covered in ashes — people of Pompeii, I mean. We found them later, thousands of years later, and... there were casts of their bodies. The way they were when they died.
"Must be an impressive archaeological find," Julius remarks, pursing his lips. Subaru laughs in surprise:
"Nerd. Yeah, sort of."
"Sort of?"
"Do I look like a historian to you? I have no idea. I mean, actually, that..." He shrugs helplessly. "There were just people there. Their animals, their paintings, their food. A thousand years apart, and we're still the same.
Subaru smiles at her out of the corner of his mouth.
"I think a lot of people think about what they were like back then, Emilia-tan. I mean, me too, I guess, since I'm talking about it. And... people like us were in Pompeii, and people like us live in my homeland, and people like us live right now, so, well, these people from Elior — I don't see any reason for them to not be like us? And you took such good care of them — maybe they miss you too.
Emilia smiles shyly at Subaru in response, and she feels a little like crying very hard.

Someone once told me that they loathe Medb because she objectifies people, and I can't help but agree. From her creation of Cu Alter to her relationship with Skadi, and then something Fergus mentioned twice, once in the manga and once in Summer 4. But, rather than seeing this in a negative light, as the person who mentioned this, I couldn't help but find this an interesting fault because the story, for the most part, treats this as neither fully bad or completely good Because viewing it through this lens makes Skadi and her relationship uniquely realistic because, while Medb is doing it for completely warped and selfish motives, it also highlights the fact that Skadi needs a self-severing person in her life to get over her troubles and eluvates her in such a intersting manner. Or, in another situation, how she basically earns Cu alter's respect via sheer tenacity through that viewpoint but also caused the american singularity. I had these thoughts swriling around my head the past few days I couldn't help but to wonder what the biggest Medb fan would think about this.
A lot of people, including your friend, view America as a "I have you now, my pretty" scenarios from what I've seen. America plays it up that Medb "gets to have" Cu as an object of affection. Higashide specifically wanted the player to think that, so it comes off as a surprise in the reveal when Alter admits that he's fighting for Medb's wish on his own free will the whole entire time.
(TL;DR: at the bottom before the cut)
When you go back, you realize that there is a lot of foreshadowing that this was the case the whole time. Namely that Cu Alter has so much autonomy and free will for someone who is supposedly "under control." Medb never gets mad at him when he disagrees with her, and the fact that he would debate with her at all is extremely telling when she's usually pretty pushy as a person when it comes to what she thinks is the correct line of action
Both Medb and Cu have their own ideas of what it means to be a king and a hero. For Cu, we know that he doesn't care for honors and titles, but Medb had to work her ass off to get a title for her own safety and to be taken seriously by others. Cu (probably) thought he was well meaning for telling Medb that he didn't want to hurt or kill her because she was a woman, but to her, it was insulting that he wouldn't view her as a warrior when she had gone through a fuckton to get to where she was. He accepted that he was going to die in a blaze of glory, while she can't understand how he can just go throw his life away without ever properly taking her on when everyone thinks of her as the villain of his story.
So there's an obvious disconnect between the two. The fact that they DO talk about this, change each other's minds, and disagree is where the development lays. By the end of the singularity, Alter is able to recognize Medb's efforts as a queen, which was the main validation she wanted from him. Medb also arguably understands that Cu isn't how she thought he’d be that if you notice, anytime they're together, she no longer brings up how she thinks he should act. She just thinks what he does is really cool instead, so they’ve basically gotten the chance to get to know each other better and come to some sort of understanding
The only problem is that Higashide never actually addresses the issue on Cu's end. Personally, I don't really mind tooo too much because Medb's emotions is what I care more so about in the dynamic, but it still leaves a very huge "What even are his thoughts about this?" And I dont mean Alter, I mean the original Cu. It's very clear by the stark difference in how Medb talks to Alter and Cu that she thinks Cu is much colder to her than he actually is. But she also was able to talk to Alter more genuinely because with his emotions suppressed, it was like talking to someone who would never actually respond in a way that would be too overwhelming where she'd have to be on guard. But that's only a stepping stone to the actual problem.
Cu cares a great deal about Medb as a person because if he wasn't aware of her circumstances when they were alive, he does now that they're servants. He mentioned her in HA before she was even in FGO and says that a ton of bad things happened to her and she's a product of what happened to her. But he still doesn't do anything about it in a way that's actually helpful. He treats Medb like someone he feels like he has to take care of, even if she's troublesome, instead of acknowledging his own flaws that got him into the situation with her in the first place.
He still has chivalrous view of women that can be seen as patronizing like telling Medusa in Extella that he doesnt want to fight or kill women when Medusa had the clear advantage. He chooses Nero over Tamamo because Tamamo reminded him too much of Medb. He talks about how he wants to be more reliable to Medb in his voiceline, even to the point of making a promise to her that we still have NO idea what it could possibly have been about. He avoids Medb when she's up to mischief, yet when she asks for help he is immediately willing to do whatever. Even to the point that Knocknarea in LB6 is confused as to why he's so eager and willing to help her.
Cu's thoughts are a huge piece of the puzzle missing that if you don't pay attention to how he handles Medb, it comes off as one sided when it's more like two people avoiding communicating the root of a problem.
I highly doubt that his side would ever occur as the closest there has come to being critical of Cu's actions is the consequences of his thing with Fand and Emer in the Vday events with Caren and Bazett. Do agree that sometimes, other writers will just use Medb's love for him as a gag to idk fill up the spaces or something. It can be funny but if that's all she does, then ya I get the criticisms esp when their actual convos are way funnier. I have more thoughts on them, but I've already wrote so much lmao
Very cool and poggers of the manga to have Cu Alter kneeling down and accepting a kiss from her tho
TL;DR: Medb and Cu have lore to build off of + that there are flaws to be addressed. Makes the subtle growth very cool and leeway for further Medb development and complexities.
---
Putting the rest under the cut because I'm critical of the way Sakurai writes Medb and Skadi. Read if u want, but know that I'm kind of a hater so I'd rather you look at something you like instead.
Sakurai's writing with Skadi doesn't have the benefit of lore to easily play around with though. TL;DR at the bottom.
The problem is that the writers never really fleshed out Scathach that much, nor did they have the latter interact much with Medb. The whole premise of this dynamic is that Medb thinks Skadi is Scathach and she's surprised that "Scathach is acting different than she usually does" and keeps trying to get Skadi to act "like she usually does"
But Medb doesn't even really know Scathach, they hardly talked. Like ever. There's like 5 lines of dialogue from between 2018 to now between the two across the American singularity to events and voice lines. Most of the time, they don't even directly talk to each other. Unlike her thing with Alter, Medb has never come to an understanding with Scathach, nor does she really have any reason to care about her
The writing has to rely on existing character dynamics that... was hardly there to begin with makes it crumble that much faster to me personally. It'd make more sense if they had actually written a LOT of interaction with each other to the point of them influencing each other's characters, whether in a positive or negative way. But as it stands, it'd make more sense for Medb to react to the gap difference between Ushi and Taira than Scathach and Skadi because the writers chose to give more depth to Ushi and Medb as frenemies.
I was never a fan of Medb Skadi writing because it comes off as a cheap way to introduce Skadi into the Chaldea dynamics. It's nothing like Ushi or Ex and Medb, Knocknarea and Castoria's level of development, where it'd make sense. Not to mention, nothing about Skadi is remotely what Medb is interested in. If it had been the other way around, where Skadi was introduced first and then Scathach showed up, it'd make a bit more sense given who Medb usually hangs out with or talks to
Sakurai mainly utilizes Medb as a mouthpiece of how cute and uwu Skadi is rather than having any meaningful development between the two across multiple events. It just gets weird and sometimes even creepy at times, esp when you remember Higashide's Medb had never been sexual towards Alter. But Sakurai's Medb sexually harasses Skadi when Medb herself is a SA victim?? And she writes Medb as calling herself tainted in a diff event????? Even Minase treated Medb better in the Prisma Illya event. Like, I don't hate Sakurai, but she can be very hit or miss with me on certain things.
You can compare Skadi to almost any other character that Medb has interacted with, and it's severely lacking. Neither one's lore is really addressed until Skadi's interlude and even then, Medb doesn't really have much to do with it, she's just "I will lend you a Cu (caster) because I'm already holding two Cu's hands right now"
I don't mind if people like Skadi, but I just don't think Sakurai handles Medb and Skadi well together. It comes off as either shoe horned yuri bait at worst, and not knowing where to put Skadi since she didn't have much connection to any character in her LB at best that she just slapped her onto Medb for the vague Scathach connection. There is no lessons learned, no real understanding of each other, and it's just Medb doing what she wants. There's no balance or substance that I personally like
I admit that I have not read her summer event parts to know how she develops with other characters though. I'm still very :// about the transphobia with her changing Caeneus's spirit origin without his consent because she "wanted Caeneus to fit in with the other girls" which doesn't help much when she calls Caeneus tainted because of their SA in the lostbelt.
I just don't really care much for the character or the writing between her and medb, so that's why you'll hardly ever see me talk about her.
Apologies because I know you went in talking positively, but I agree with your friend on this one. It does come heavily across as objectification and one of those ships you'd meme on as "gay ship for straight ppl (with a male audience in mind specifically)" and is not treated well, so I personally ignore it.
TL;DR: I dont like Skadi writing or Medb/Skadi writing. I do not mind if other do tho, so like its just do ya own thing, yfeel?
Anyways, ship Castoria x Knocknarea

We are given so little to work with for the fallout 3 companions, I feel any content with them is at least 60% headcanon at this point. So what are your fallout 3 companion headcanons?
Omg it's true 😞 whenever I pick up FO3 I realize how much I miss the companions quests and all the dialogue we get with NV and especially with 4.
I'll be pretty brief (I'm lying to you), but here's just a tidbit of my own ideas on each of the FO3 folks that help me with characterization and such.
Butch:
He's a lot of talk. And not just when it comes to bragging and fighting, but with everything. He likes to overexaggerate, and it comes to him so naturally that he often doesn't even realize he's doing it.
Butch is an incredibly loyal friend. If the two of you don't know each other well, he couldn't really give two shits, but if he's known you a long time? If he considers you a good friend? He'd give you the jacket off his back or lend you a hand any day. He'll stand up for you too, even if it gets the both of you into a fight, he considers it worth it.
On that same note, he doesn't take insults lightly. Words have a lot of meaning to him, and even if he is a lot of talk himself, he'd rather land a few punches than be insulted in a real, genuine way, especially with someone who knows a lot about him, and can use the truth to hurt his (or his friends') reputation(s).
Charon:
He feels every emotion very deeply. Outwardly, he doesn't seem to express it too much, but his words say a lot about what he's truly thinking and feeling, if you know what to listen for. Same thing goes for body language. He's just very particular, but once you start to understand him, he actually is pretty open and honest.
Charon tends to catastrophize in his mind, which is one of the many reasons he tries not to get attached to his employers. He's lost quite a few of them, and the other half of them turned out to be complete assholes, so forgive him if he doesn't get attached right away, no matter how many caps you spent or how many favors you did to get him under your employment.
He loathes the fact that he isn't in charge of his own life, but there's a part of him-- a very small part, mind you-- that is relieved that he doesn't get to choose the people he spends time with. The few employers that Charon's felt any affection at all for, that he's lost, been responsible for losing, have left a big enough hole in him. It's easier to be stuck with people you don't care about, and it's easy to commit atrocities in their name, rather than his own... like he was doing before the contract. Employers just make a good scapegoat, both with his actions and his emotions.
Clover:
She's loyal to a fault. Even at great cost to herself, Clover puts the one(s) she cares for above her own needs and wants. It's almost a survival instinct at this point, the way she does everything for everyone else, they way she makes sure she's always needed, so they can't just throw her away when they get bored or find someone new to pay attention to.
Sweet people freak her out. Clover is so used to being surrounded by assholes who are only out for their own selfish gain, who pay her feelings little to no mind at all, and who choose to be cruel over all other options. So selfless people? Kind-hearted, compassionate, generous people? She can't trust them and she never believes they're being genuine. It takes her a long time to warm up to anyone like that.
There's a lot of inner turmoil within Clover. She's constantly at war with being too dependent on others, or being too independent. She likes to have people in her life to take care of her, to protect and provide for her, but she's also tough as nails. She's had to look out for herself for most of her life, and independence is hard to come by as a slave, so she revels in it when she has it, but... she doesn't like to be alone. It's difficult for her, no matter what she does, she loses. If she fights back and gains independence, then she's forced to face the wastes alone, but if she remains compliant, her life belongs to everyone but herself. She usually opts for the latter, sadly enough, because, at least then, at least as a possession, she feels like she's needed and noticed. Clover has a lot she needs to work through, and her upbringing was pretty fucked up, so her world view always seems to keep her tethered to the awful past she's been trying to escape since she was young.
Cross:
This woman does not know how to retire. She'll stay in the Brotherhood until her last breath, even if it means she's just mopping the floors of the Citadel (which other members of the BOS would never let her do, since she's a Star Paladin, but still, to her, it's better than retiring.)
She's a busy body whose always been married to her work, and ever since her injuries, and the cybernetic replacements she's had done, she feels less than human, less than worthy of the esteemed position she's in, and finds that she wants to work twice as hard to prove herself, despite the fact that she already has. A dozen times over, or more.
Cross feels personally responsible for the Lone Wanderer, especially after James's death, and if she dies looking after them? The Star Paladin would consider it an honor.
I find that she and Danse have many similarities: in speech pattern, personality, background, and values; and I feel as though, when Danse was at the Citadel, he really looked up to Cross, but was always a little nervous to bother her. Even though the young Knight was bound to have a million questions for one of the heroes of the Brotherhood.
Fawkes:
He loves philosophy. Those deep, 3am "meaning of life" conversations are his absolute favorite, and he's genuinely curious about other people's world views.
Fawkes has a mental list of facts he wants to look into or prove, ones that he read about on his monitor in the vault. Sometimes he'll wander off towards a specific building, plant, or animal and really study it as he looks to make sense of the world he's read so much about, but hardly experienced for himself.
He may be a supermutant, but Fawkes is as gentle as they come. He's much more of a pacifist than anything, and though he believes in standing up for what's right, he tries to avoid conflict as much as possible.
He's also immeasurably grateful to any humans who chose to trust him. He's seen what his brothers are capable of, and knows how difficult it must be to refrain from passing immediate, violent judgement. And he's sure to voice how much he really does appreciate your trust in him.
He also LOVES complimenting people. It's his favorite thing to see the way he can make someone smile. His brothers in the vault never did respond to his kind words, so it's a nice change of pace.
Jericho:
Jericho loved being a raider. In his youth, he thought he was the baddest shit, and it felt good to be apart of something, even if that something was just a ragtag group of criminal assholes, he was one of them. That being said... There are days he regrets that he never really retired from it.
If he'd gotten out earlier, maybe he coulda settled down a bit. As much as that sounds pretty fucking awful to him, and as much as he makes it seem like that's the last thing he'd ever want, he doesn't know... Maybe his life wouldn't be so shit now if he had somethin' to fall back on. Sure, he could go back out into the wastes and die in a blaze of glory instead of living these boring days in Megaton, but the way he wouldn't be leaving any bit of him behind would get to him. He doesn't like the idea of just being reduced to nothing once he's gone. Though he knows it ain't really true, he'd like to think his life was worth somethin' in the end.
Young people piss him off. That's what he says. And he acts like he really means it, but that shit ain't true either. Sure, their wide-eyed wonder and incessant optimism get on his nerves, but the truth is, he finds it really refreshing to be around people like that. He acts like it annoys the hell out of him, but really, it gives him a new lust for life he'd never thought he'd have again.
Okay, this was really fun to do. I really love these guys, and though we weren't given all that much to work with, I think there's a bit of beauty in that. This way, the characters really have a lot of wiggle room and there's more space to be creative with their backgrounds and true thoughts on the world and on the Lone Wanderer in fics and reacts, so, I actually find that really nice.
Plus, there's less dialogue in their scripts to sift through when doing research on them 😅😅

Hi sweetie here are some q's for your fic author ask game!
3 10 14 17 19 29 30: Is there a fic, written by someone else, that you would love to do a remix of? What is it and why?
:) :) :) :) :) :)
3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written? "sorry about the blood in your mouth (i wish it was mine)" & "i can't let go when something's broken" are my two favorites :3 (and maybe also the kiki's delivery service au, that one was just so fluffy and cute and sparkly)
10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? i'm surprised by how many people really seem to love "when i don't touch you" tbh! the mechanics/worldbuilding is vague at best in my opinion and i leave a lot of stuff ambiguous because i just wanted to tell this story of missing someone and needing them and fate and destiny. i am always surprised & very very grateful for the compliments that fic receives!
14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick? i wrote "sorry about the blood in your mouth" constantly thinking about how it would look if it was being filmed. that one is my most cinematic, i think!!
17. What’s something you’ve learned about while doing research for a fic? the last vcr was sold in 2016 :)
19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs. from chapter 2 of "oh my, love is a lie":
Steve taps on the pink highlight around Eddie’s profile picture. It looks like Eddie uses his instagram stories like a diary, posting his various thoughts throughout the day. The first story is a poll: “Would you fuck Jeff Bezos to end global warming?” Steve doesn’t vote. The next three stories are just memes. The next slide is a picture of a bowl of soup with the words “good soup” and after that is a picture of Chrissy’s cat with the caption “this eldritch creature lives in my house.” The last slide shows the results from the original poll, an overwhelming amount of people having apparently voted “no” on Jeff Bezos. Eddie’s added the words “dang, can’t believe how selfish you all are.” That makes Steve laugh, just a little.
Steve shuts off the screen on his phone and sets it down on his bedside table. He takes off his glasses and rubs at his eyes, yawning. Then, he reaches over and turns out his light, before sliding down under his covers and falling asleep.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.) a scene cut from "sorry about the blood in your mouth":
“Max,” Eddie says, cautiously. “Is there something bothering you?”
“No,” she snaps, still not turning to look at him. She’s torn between wanting him to go away and wanting to tell him exactly what she thinks right now.
“Max… I know you’re feeling angry right now. Is it because Steve left? I know that you feel better when he’s around and—“
“What, you think Steve is, like, my emotional support dog or something?” She can’t keep the anger out of her voice, even though she’s really trying. “Yes, I love having him around because I love him and he’s one of my best friends. I don’t need him here to do my job. This isn’t Steve’s fault, by any stretch of the imagination.”
“Okay,” Eddie responds and she can hear some confusion in his voice. Max finally turns to look at him and she can see his eyebrows scrunching up as he furrows his brow. She can’t help but wonder how it’s possible for one man to be so deeply and irreparably stupid?
“I’m mad at you, asshole,” she finally admits, jabbing her pointer finger into Eddie’s chest.
“Me? Why?” Eddie rubs at the spot on his chest where she’d just poked him.
“Because!” She throws up her hands. “How is it possible for you to be so fucking stupid? For ten whole years!”
“Huh?” Eddie’s confused frown deepens.
“Jesus Christ, Eddie. Who do you think this story is about?”
“The story? Of the movie? Uh. Lucy is you, Max. I wrote her for you.”
“Lucy isn’t me,” she says, like it’s obvious. “I’ve been madly in love with Lucas since I was thirteen and I tell him so every single day. Try again.”
“But—“
“Yeah, but nothing! Eddie, what—if I’m Lucy, who’s Delilah?”
“Lucy is you and Nancy, Delilah’s El and Robin.”
Max snorts. “Okay, that’s a little funny.”
“I thought so.”
“But Lucy isn’t me and Delilah isn’t El. And neither of them are Nancy or Robin.”
“Yes, they are.”
“What—no—Eddie,” he can hear the exasperation in her voice now and now she’s talking with her hands, moving her whole body around like she does when she thinks the person she’s talking to is being a humungous moron. “You’re Lucy. Steve’s Delilah.”
“No,” Eddie says immediately.
“Um, yes! Just like you’re Ricky and Hector and Ronan and Jamie and Peter and Steve’s Brad and Tim and Adam and Martin and Matt.” She lists off the characters from his books.
“What? No.”
“Eddie, you’ve been writing a love story for you and Steve since the beginning,” Max tells him. “Aren’t you supposed to be the smart one here? Of the two of you?” Under her breath, she adds, “how is Steve the one who’s known all along?”
Eddie’s head snaps up to look at her then. “What.” It’s not a question. “What did you say?”
“I said,” Max says at a normal volume, enunciating, “How is Steve Harrington the one who’s known everything all along?”
“What does that mean?” His voice is getting increasingly desperate, pleading. “Max, what do you mean?”
Max rolls her eyes. “Steve’s been in love with you since you were twenty years old. He’s been waiting for you to figure out your shit. He’s read all your books. He’s watched you date other people and he hasn’t dated anyone. He’s waited for you, Eddie. He’s waited for you to decide what you want.”
Eddie can’t feel his hands. His feet are tingling, like they’ve fallen asleep. He can’t breathe. “He’s been waiting for me?” It comes out as a whisper.
“Yes, but…” Max trails off, looking at him with pity in her eyes. “When he left, I told him to stop waiting. I told him he deserved to be loved by someone who was brave enough to really love him.” He looks at her, an accusation in his brown eyes. “I didn’t think you were actually fucking stupid! I thought you were making a choice. I didn’t realize you really didn’t know that you could have him.” She rolls her eyes. “Didn’t he kiss you at the Golden Globes? And you left with that musician anyway. Even after that, Steve still waited. And didn’t he confess to you three nights ago? Didn’t he tell you what he wanted?” Max kind of looks like she’s on the verge of tears now and Eddie’s pretty close behind her.
30: Is there a fic, written by someone else, that you would love to do a remix of? It's really no laughing matter. The air quality here in New Jersey is Hazardous right now. We had to close down the plant at 1:30 because the smoke was coming through the warehouse and up into the office too. It's horrible that so much land, homes, vegetation, farmland, etc has been destroyed. I could not imagine having to start up over from the bottom of the empty barrel. That picture up there is a picture I got off of the internet. It's a picture of Halifax, Nova Scotia with the current wildfire taking place.
I was wondering why yesterday morning the sun was so bright. It was a pinkish-orange color and the sky just didn't look normal but of course I didn't think nothing of it. Come to find out later by mom that there is a wildfire in Canada going. Explains the strange, orange/yellow sky driving home today. The smoke was not bad yesterday, but oh my gosh was the smoke was seeping in through the bay doors at work and upstairs into the office. It's nice that we are getting paid for the rest of the day (because obviously freak of nature so not our fault). There are so many fires going on. We definitely need some rain to take away the dry conditions and so there are no fires. We unfortunately cannot do nothing about the inconsiderate people deliberately setting fires. People need to be smarter about the things they are doing. Also to the ones who are beyond selfish need to wake up because Karma is very real. I witnessed it first hand happening to someone who I thought was my friend (ex co-worker). She was horrible to her co-workers and higher ups. She even went as far as telling me that the reason my husband and I aren't pregnant is because we are both immature. She was such an extremely judgmental individual. She always thought everyone was out to get her. She thought everyone owed her the world. It was crazy. She blamed me for her getting fired because when I was asked by the director of HR if working next to her would be okay I said "Well you know how she can be...Very negative and distracting but I don't see why I couldn't work sitting next to her." A week later is when the director wanted to see her in his office and she comes down and say "What the fuck else did you say to him because he wants to see me now..." We were talking in the morning like we always do. I told her that the director asked me if I would be okay working next to her and I told her that I told the director you could be distracting and very negative so I didn't want that to affect my work.." She gasped and said "Why would you say that? Why would you throw me under the bus like that.." I said "I wasn't intentionally answering the question. I was being honest." She said "Great...Whatever I don't want to talk right now." I walked away. When she was let go, she knew I was right in front of her working but she had all her bags with her and the director was walking her out after she made her rounds of goodbyes. I instantly blocked her because of how nuts she really is. I didn't want her reaching out to me saying that what I did was messed up because I did absolutely nothing wrong. It sucks to be bitter about yourself and your life and take it out on other people. I hope one day before it's too late she comes to her senses and treats other people better.

“You know, I completely understand that Marinette can be wrong and show “creepy” or “stalkerish” behavior towards Adrien, but I really dislike it when people take EVERYTHING she does out of context or do not read into the plot/subtext at all.
1). She’s a kid. If Chloe’s just a kid for being a bully who literally makes everyone’s lives with her cruelty and selfishness, then Marinette is also a kid for at best for being just creepy or a bit petty at times. Stop with the double standards just because Chloe “had it worse”.
2). She learns her lesson at the end of every episode or at least feels some remorse for her actions and at least TRIES TO FIX IT. That’s literally what the show is about, even if I DO agree that it’s not handled as good as it should be.
3). Does anyone ever think that she keeps doing the things that she does because no one calls her out???  If what Marinette does is truly wrong, then wouldn’t (or shouldn’t) more people be calling her out on it then??? Sometimes people really aren’t going to realize what they do is wrong until someone tells them and they have consequences for said actions.
4). People act like that she’s worse or the only one who does these bad or uncomfortable things. I don’t think I have to even sit here and tell you why Chloe and Lila are crappy people. And Adrien nor Alya is any better in that case either. Not even Kagami at times. There are other badly written characters on this show, why just keep throwing Marinette under the bus??? Why isn’t Marinette allowed to be flawed and mess up, but other characters are? I understand that Marinette is to protagonist, but she’s still a child and growing.
5). Marinette has a schedule of ALL HER CLASSMATES, not just Adrien.
6). If you’re going to blame Marinette for the way she turned out and never getting any consequences for her actions, then blame her creator then. He’s the one who created her. He’s the one who thinks that Marinette is prefect and does no wrong while having this “everything goes because she’s the protagonist” mentality and if anyone disagrees with him they get blocked.
7). I honestly believe that a big part of salt fics and the reason why people truly feel sorry for Marinette to the point where they even start to believe that she doesn’t do anything wrong, is because of her unfair treatment in the show sometimes. Whether if it is by the creators, her friends, Lila, Chloe, or even her ADULT TEACHER, when the plot calls for it. She’s always the one to learn lessons and apologizing, even when it isn’t her fault. Her character is often assigned and ALWAYS the one who has to be the bigger person in situations that’s totally unfair to her. She’s the guardian and has a lot of responsibilities on her hands instead for being a normal teenager. Only just recently she’s starting to get help (Alya).
8). It’s just bad writing honestly. It’s just bad writing for everyone. So just don’t blame Marinette for this shit.
9). And honestly, I just think her positives outweigh her negatives. It’s the fact that she learns her lessons and at least tries to own up to what she does is what I like about her. She’s generally is a kind and compassionate person and does what she can to help others. Sure she messes up a lot, but again, who doesn’t in this show?
Look, I’m not trying to say that Marinette is innocent. FAR FROM IT. But I just think people take things WAY out of proportion when it comes to Marinette sometimes, not even looking at the CONTEXT of the situations nor what happens right after.”

Yes, that was me! I can definitely expand on my thoughts re: how Madam Yu’s behaviour reads differently to me due to my traditional, Chinese upbringing.
There is a lot of subjectivity as to whether Madam Yu can be read as abusive, and this reading is often influenced by culture—hence you often see completely off-base takes floating around. However, to me, the way that cultural context influences the reading will actually change depending on the relationship, so I will discuss each one separately. Most of the culturally insensitive takes are about her being an abusive or uncaring mother (she’s not), or that she’s a spurned woman (it’s more complicated than that), so you can skip down to the JC, JYL, and CSSR sections for that.
Madam Yu and Wei Wuxian
As a trend, I think western fandom tends to simplify Wei Wuxian’s dynamic with the Jiang family into an entire adopted family. Consequently, Yu Ziyuan gets perceived as this two-dimensional, evil stepmom figure—but I think this doesn’t capture the truth.
There’s a bit more variability among Chinese audiences when they read the Jiang family dynamic, partly due to our deeper familiarity with wuxia tropes, but mostly because there's a mediocre Netflix translation colouring the western interpretation. Though many Chinese fans do view them all as a sort of family unit and read Madam Yu as a stepmother, I do not. To me, Jiang Fengmian and Jiang Yanli view Wei Wuxian as family—but Madam Yu does not. Madam Yu views him as a servant, a disciple of the sect, and an outsider at the dinner table—and it’s not wrong for her to do so. It’s not gracious, but it’s not unfounded. I don’t think Wei Ying ever gives any indication that he views her as a mother, either.
If you agree that they don’t have anything like a mother-son relationship, all these insults/complaints that Yu Ziyuan levels at him—that he’s the “son of a servant”, that Jiang Fengmian is weird for openly favouring Wei Wuxian over his own son, etc.—these start to make sense? Like, it’s shitty to listen to, but none of it is wrong. Suddenly it reads less like pointless insults and more like actual points.
Additionally, if we consider that Wei Wuxian is a disciple of the sect who goes around and raises the ire of the Wen clan, corporal punishment suddenly looks very normal (again, within the culture). Hence, when I watched the donghua and CQL, I hated seeing Wei Wuxian getting whipped, but I didn’t perceive this as abuse—especially because of the political nature of the decision.
But it is definitely still possible to mistreat a disciple.
In CQL, you see Madam Yu throwing an unnecessary amount of vitriol at Wei Ying. In the novel extras, it's revealed that she regularly whipped him but never whipped the other disciples, indicating that it wasn't normal corporal punishment. She also whipped him for absurdly stupid reasons. To me, this signals that she tended to abuse her authority over him. Even if you don’t view her as an abusive mother to Wei Ying, it's fair to read her as an abusive authority figure.
Importantly however, "abuse" is a loaded word suggesting a violation of social norms, and again, the situation is complicated because the social norms of the setting don't match those of the modern world. Madam Yu is not overstepping her bounds as master of Lotus Pier—hence, people do not think very much of this treatment in-universe, including Wei Ying himself.
Madam Yu, Jiang Cheng, and Jiang Yanli
Okay, when I first watched CQL, I cringed when Madam Yu started dragging her family because she sounded like My Actual Chinese Mother. I felt for a second like I had transmigrated into Jiang Cheng’s body and I was experiencing his agony firsthand!
Madam Yu reads very realistically, and I think this is why it gets personal for a lot of Chinese people when this fandom discusses her character. Yes, she belittles and hurts her children for their perceived failures, but many Chinese people can tell you that this is just a common parenting style. And while it might look like bullying to an outsider, this behaviour is usually motivated by love. It is often also motivated by fear that the child’s future will be substandard. This is textually obvious when you consider what exactly Madam Yu yells about:
She snaps at Yanli to stop peeling lotus pods, because she shouldn’t act like a servant. If Yanli keeps behaving so passively, what kind of role is she going to fall into in the future—especially given that she is not a cultivator?
She berates Jiang Cheng for always being inferior to Wei Wuxian no matter what he does. If Jiang Cheng is constantly overshadowed by Wei Wuxian, what will that mean for his future as sect leader? Or his future status and reputation among the sects?
I can do these Chinese Mom Translations because parents in real life will actually say things like this out of concern for their children (insults included), in an attempt to motivate them... and it really does light a fire under our asses. I attribute many of my personal successes to this parenting style. Thus, when I see posts like “Madam Yu didn’t show any sign of caring for others” or "Madam Yu was a purely selfish and arrogant person" or “Madam Yu is an abusive mother and nothing else"—well, I can tell most of these people are not Chinese, or if they are, then they likely did not have a traditional upbringing.
While I don't think these uninformed readings of Madam Yu are necessarily racist, I do think they they are unpleasant for Chinese fans to constantly see. For those of us in the west that had this type of upbringing, we often struggle with trying to frame and process our relationships with our parents. For me, this was partly due to the emotional baggage of my upbringing (Jiang Cheng winning!!!)... but it was also because white society kept telling me that my parents didn't give a shit about me when obviously they did. That’s fucked up to experience. It reeks of cultural imperialism. Thus, when I see Chinese people getting annoyed at these Madam Yu takes, I’m not surprised. This is unfortunately a fictional discussion that very much resembles a real one for us.
Yu Ziyuan, Jiang Fengmian, and Cangse Sanren
A lot of people view Madam Yu as a spurned woman and assume that is her motivation for constantly antagonizing Wei Wuxian and her husband. But because I assume that a lot of her chaotic yelling stems from her concerns as an Actual Chinese Mother, my take is different.
Remember the scene where Madam Yu catches Jiang Fengmian scolding Jiang Cheng just after praising Wei Wuxian? She drags Jiang Cheng up to his father and, in both CQL and the donghua, says something to this effect (paraphrased from memory):
This is your son, the future master of Lotus Pier! Even if you don’t like him because he was born to me, his surname is still Jiang!
And in CQL, she also says this right after berating Jiang Cheng for not measuring up to Wei Wuxian:
But it’s not your fault. Your mother is no match for his mother.
Yu Ziyuan isn’t angry about Cangse Sanren because she’s jealous; she is angry about Cangse Sanren because she thinks Jiang Fengmian’s feelings for her are jeopardizing his competence as a father to Jiang Cheng. Viewed in this light, it also makes sense why Yu Ziyuan is hostile to Wei Wuxian in a way that alienates him from the family—constantly calling him the son of a servant, pointing out the rumours about his parentage, etc. She’s not doing this because she hates Cangse Sanren or Wei Wuxian; she’s doing it because Wei Wuxian’s presence in the family is threatening Jiang Cheng’s future in her eyes.
Bonus: Did Yu Ziyuan love Jiang Fengmian?
Yes! In both the donghua and CQL (I ashamedly admit I don’t clearly remember the novel), I thought their final moments made it quite evident that they cared for each other. They fought together, died together to protect their home, and reached out to one another in their final moments.
But when I rewatched Madam Yu’s scenes in CQL and the donghua, I realized we got other hints that westerners probably missed. I'll focus on CQL:
Right before Jiang Fengmian sets off with Yanli for Lanling, Madam Yu sees them off. She gives Yanli some snacks and then—without making eye contact with Jiang Fengmian—says that she’s also giving them medicine in case someone gets a headache. Jiang Fengmian pauses, because it’s obviously for him.
This is recognizable behaviour for a lot of Chinese people. I can’t tell you how many times my mother got apoplectic at me, and then the only follow-up was her going out of her way to make me my favourite meal. The chaotic yelling you see between Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan is also pretty typical to many Chinese parents, and again, the follow-up in my household was often one of them going out of their way to do something for the other.
This is just how the culture is in a lot of families. “Sorry” isn’t expressed in words; it's expressed in actions. “I love you” isn’t expressed in words; it’s expressed in actions. In Chinese culture, the dominant love language is acts of service. It's fleeting, but we get glimpses of that kind of love between Yu Ziyuan and Jiang Fengmian.

Can I stay with you?
(A/N): This is based on this, this and this post. I really hope you are ready for the feels, because they are there and they are heavy-
Summary: Following the events of Emily's death, how will Spencer and his daughter cope with it?
Warnings: Angst and lots of it, mentions of drug use, contemplations of drug use, mentions of needles, we also got some bittersweet fluff
Wordcount: 2.5k
✨Masterlist✨ _______________________________
A hospital is not a place where a child should be, Spencer knows that much. But he picked (Y/N) up on his way for two reasons:
The first one being the simple occurence that the babysitter is not able to keep her any longer, because she has classes in the next morning. The second one is selfish and the father knows that, but he needs her presence, the comfort she brings to him.
“Daddy”, the child breaks the silence in the waiting room, “Is Auntie Emily going to be ok?” She sits in his lap reading a book before looking up at him. Her eyes hold something he wishes to never see again: Fear. The fear of losing someone she loves dearly.
“I hope, Baby. But let’s not forget one important fact: Your Auntie Emily is one of the strongest women I know.” Spencer gives her a kiss on the top of her head and cuddles her closer to him, seeing (Y/N)’s eyes dropping. The rest of the team watches the interaction with aching hearts.
The girl is asleep for half an hour when JJ enters the room. Everybody gets up crowding her. Spencer is careful to not disturb his daughter as he moves her head to his shoulder and hooks his arm under her legs.
“She never made it off the table.” These words echo in the genius’ mind, seemingly being the only things he can think about. “I-I never had the chance to say goodbye.” JJ hugs him, trying to give some sort of comfort. In this process (Y/N) wakes up. As soon as she spots her father’s tears, she knows not to ask a question. Instead she loops her arms around his neck.
“It’s fine. It’s gonna be alright, Daddy”, the toddler recalls the words he says to her whenever she is upset in hopes to cheer him up.
The next couple days are hard on the whole team. They try to grieve together, especially while the funeral takes place. (Y/N) notices that the color black is fitting, since her Auntie really liked to wear it. She likes that they do the same to pay their respects that way.
“Auntie Penny, is she watching?” The blonde woman carries her while the casket is walked down the aisle. Since her death, (Y/N) doesn’t dare to say Emily’s name. She thinks if she avoids it, she is going to inflict less pain when she is talked about.
“Of course. Emily is in heaven and watches this beautiful beautiful ceremony we hold for her. So wipe that frown off and put on that smile she loved so much. Alright?” Confusing to her, the adults want (Y/N) to smile all the time. But they are frowning and crying more often than not.
“Can she hear us? Because I want to say I love her. I forgot to say it the last time I saw her.” Trying to distract herself from seeing the casket lowering into the grave, the girl plays with Penlope’s hair. She in turn has to fight tears back. Only now she realizes the impact the whole thing has on her.
“I’m sure she does. What about when the majority is gone, we go to her grave and talk to Emily? Do we have a deal?” (Y/N) nods.
As soon as the ceremony is over, Spencer takes his daughter, cradling her close to him. As if she senses his sadness, the girl is petting his back in a comforting way. He squeezes her closer to him, leaving her not much room to breathe.
“Daddy, I wanna talk to her. I need to get down.” (Y/N) wiggles in his grasp after she whispers this into his ear. Reluctantly Spencer lets her down and she toddles over to the freshly made grave. A little plastic card sticks out of the grass in place of a headstone.
The adults try to give her as much space as possible, they have to let grieve on her own.
“Hey, Auntie Emily. I-I wanted to say I love you, and I forgot to tell you this the last time so I say it a second time. I love you. And I miss you. I think Daddy misses you too. He is sad since you are gone. I’m too. I think it’s because we miss you. But I hope you like Heaven. Maybe you see my Mommy. When you do, can you say I love her?
“I’ll try to see you soon, Auntie. Goodbye!” (Y/N) goes back to her father and makes grabby hands towards him. Gladly Spencer picks her up again, putting a kiss on her head. “Wanna go home, Daddy.” The child mumbles, exhausted by all the stress and emotions from the day.
The father is relieved to have an excuse to skip the meal with the team. He is scared that the evening at the little restaurant is clouded by sadness and angst. Spencer doesn’t need that right now, a nice sit in with his daughter sounds way better.
After saying their goodbyes the little family sits in the car on their way to the apartment. As soon as Spencer starts the car, (Y/N) is fast asleep. He looks at her through the rear view mirror, happy to see her at peace. It gives the father time to sort through his own thoughts. Since Emily’s death (Y/N) tries to be around him constantly, which he is thankful for, because she keeps the darkness away.
Her last hours play again and again before his eyes. The different ways he could have stopped all of this. Why didn’t he say more when she began biting her nails? When she said “Laura Reynolds is dead”? Maybe all of this is his fault?
His forearm begins to itch. Exactly where Tobias Hankel injected the needle same as he did several times. Maybe, maybe it would make everything better? Just this one tim-
“Daddy? When are we home?” The small voice cuts off his train of thought. Spencer needs a few seconds to clear his mind. Did he really think that? Taking dilaudid while the reason he fought his addiction literally sits right behind him? “Just a few minutes, Sweetheart. Do you want to go to bed after dinner?”
As if she knows that the father can’t be left alone in this state, (Y/N) answers: “No, I wanna watch a movie with you. Can we watch Alvin and the chipmunks? I love Simon so much!” This places a smile on his face, the excitement in her eyes scare his dark thoughts away. “Sure, Peanut. We can watch whatever you want.”
It's the fourth evening in a row that the girl sleeps in her father’s bed. She either falls asleep there or climbs next to him in the middle of the night, so he figures he lets her sleep there right away.
“Good night, Sweetheart”, he tells her as they lay down. Even though it’s quite early for Spencer to go to bed it’s (Y/N)’s time. “Good night, Daddy”, she tells him while snuggling closer, “I love you. Soooooo much.”
The young doctor decides to take the next few days off from work in order to work through the events. The first one he spends coloring in books with her the whole day. While she works on her own books gifted by various members of the BAU, Spencer has his own extra made for adults. He can’t deny the soothing effect it has on him. The repeating moves calms the storm of thoughts inside his head.
The next day the two of them sit the whole day on the small couch in the living room, (Y/N) on his lap, and read. Sometimes they read for themselves, others the father reads outloud from his own or (Y/N) from her own. It’s kind of therapeutic to hear his child doing something he enjoyed his whole life.
“Daddy, do you think she feels lonely in heaven? There is nobody she knows, she has to wait for us to follow her, doesn’t she?” Not prepared for such a deep question, Spencer is caught off guard.
He clears his throat before answering. “Uh, Auntie Emily isn’t that lonely up there, you know. You can’t remember him, but Uncle Gideon, a friend from work and someone I looked up to, is there. He surely greeted her with open arms, happy to see her. And your Mommy is also there, she certainly asked lots of questions about you.” “A-are you sure? I told her to say Mommy ‘I love you’ when she sees her.” (Y/N) looks up to her father with big eyes.
He is not sure if he is lying right now to her, but he sees that his daughter needs the reassurance. “Yes, I’m sure.” To lighten the mood he begins to tickle her, which ends in a tickle fight which in turn ends in tiring the girl out and falling asleep while watching a Disney movie.
The next day is by far the worst since it all happened. Both (Y/N) and Spencer haven’t slept much due to nightmares from both sides (him comforting her as she tears him from his own), which results in a grumpy toddler and a non stop coffee drinking adult.
“Sweetheart, you need to put that shirt on. Auntie JJ is expecting us in ten minutes. Please, stop fighting me”, he begs, but she continues to cry. As Spencer tries for a third time to put it on her (Y/N) throws herself to the other side of the bed.
“I don’t want that, Daddy!” She finally gets out through her sobs. Spencer halts in his movements. “Why? That’s your favorite, Baby.” While (Y/N) begins to cry louder, he leaves the clothing article on the bed and gathers her in his arm, rocking her back and forth additionally to whispering sweet reassurances in her ear.
“She gave it to me. I don’t wanna make it dirty or ruin it”, the toddler says between shaky breaths. For what feels like the trillionth time, the young agent’s heart breaks over this statement. He has a bigger vocabulary than the average English speaking person, but at this moment Spencer is at a loss of words.
“Sweetheart, I apologize for not acknowledging this right away. I’ll get another shirt out for you, ok? Thank you so much for telling and helping me.” Just a few minutes later the little family is on their way to the next metro stop. It’s then that Spencer realizes his day won’t be any easier.
“(Y/N) you can sit in the seat next to me like you always do. Why do you have to sit in my lap today?” Normally he isn’t someone who denies his child physical contact, but the seating chart has a logical purpose. Being on a train with a child means you have some kind of luggage with you, which leads to occupying a four seats compartment. In order to prevent somebody taking the seat next to him, Spencer places his daughter there. It’s a win win situation for everybody, really.
Unfortunately for him (Y/N) is extra clingy today and won’t stop crawling onto his lap. With a sigh he accepts his defeat and tries not to think about the amount of germs that fly around.
Another problem that torments the father: Over the last few days his cravings grew. Especially today the feeling, the need, for another shot and another high is undeniable for him. As if sensing this (Y/N) sticks by his side throughout the whole time, keeping his mind off of the drug that changes him.
While they are at the Jareau’s and Lamontagne’s household, his daughter refuses to play with Henry. “I wanna stay with you”, she murmurs into his shoulder. Again Spencer accepts his defeat and sits down on the couch next to his best friend.
“Sweetheart, you need to let me go. I have to go to the bathroom, you can’t come with me.” This is followed by a tsunami of tears. While JJ tries to console her, he slips out of the room discreetly.
Due to (Y/N)’s current grumpiness and Spencer’s fatigue they quickly call it a night, even though he could use some more comfort from his friends.
“Good night, Sweetheart. Sleep tight and dream nice. I love you”, he says after tucking his child in and giving her a kiss on the forehead. “Night night, Daddy. I love you, too”, her small voice echoes back to him and makes him smile softly.
Spencer finds his way back to the living room and sits down with a book in his lap. As expected he doesn’t get much reading done, too distracted by his own thoughts. The events of the night of his colleague’s, his friend’s, death replay themselves over and over again.
What if he made his conclusions faster? He is supposed to be the smart one, the one the team relies on for making important connections. But he failed once so who knows what happens when he fails again? Next time it could be the whole team dying. He could die. He would leave (Y/N) alone with the team gone. His mother isn’t capable of caring for her and his father doesn’t even know she exists. She will go into foster care, into a home with too many kids. She will be looked over, too small to be seen. Her potential will go to waste and she will never achieve anything she is capable of. And all that because he hasn’t made a conclusion fast enough.
Spencer’s scars on his forearm itch worse than ever. One shot. Only one shot to make the thoughts go away. To make the guilt go away, the bad feelings. He needs it. He needs to cure himself from the symptoms of being a human.
Before the young doctor even registers what he is doing he already put his jacket on and looks for his wallet when a voice startles him.
“Daddy, i can't sleep. Can I stay with you again?” (Y/N) stands in the doorway, clutching her stuffed animal and her blanket, shielding her eyes from the light, oblivious to what her father was about to do.
“Oh Darling, of course. Do you want me to read to you? Or we drink hot chocolate and watch a movie?” He suggests, ready to distract himself from anything that’s going on in his mind. A few minutes later his daughter cuddles into his side while watching once again Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Spencer is just happy to have his light in his life all the time and is ready to tackle any task to keep her there, may it be once again the weekly visits for anonymous narcotics or time off from work to process the events together in therapy.

He can’t blame you because he would do the same thing. Everyone knows that this man has a major sweet tooth. However, Michael will still act like you’re stupid and leave you to fend for yourself.
After all, you’re the one who decided to eat something you know you shouldn’t, that’s on you. He has better things to do than sit around and take care of you. Besides, even if he wanted to he really doesn’t know how.
The first time you do this though he panics a little bit. Michael will let you think he’s left you behind when in reality he’s watching you from the shadows to make sure you’re okay.
Please don’t do it often, he can’t handle it. He’ll never admit it, but he does kind of rely on you now that you’re a permanent part of his life. Who’s going to make him food if you can’t? Looks like you’ll both just have to starve until you feel better.
Bo Sinclair
Bo has finally found someone more careless and reckless than him and he doesn’t know how to handle it. Doesn’t understand why you do it but low key kind of respects it.
Sometimes when Bo is stressed and you eat things you shouldn’t he’ll get angry and lash out. Now he has to deal with victims and a sick s/o, that’s just great ain’t it. What are you going to do if someone break in, huh y/n? You can’t fight with a fever.
Because of this, Bo takes to hiding anything with peanuts in it whenever he’s tired or busy. That way you can’t add on to the list of problems he has to take care of in Ambrose.
Bo is also an ass and makes a big deal out of taking care of you. He’s full of snarky comments and smart ass remarks. Secretly enjoys the feeling of you needing him though.
Vincent Sinclair
You scare him. He doesn’t understand it and is highly against it. Anytime he sees you with a bar of chocolate he snatches it away and tosses it. What a waste of a perfectly good candy bar :/
Has no sympathy for you when you start feeling feverish. You know you can’t have it and you know what it does to you y/n, this is your own fault.
Still, he wants to keep an eye on you so you’ll be tucked into his bed down in his workshop while he gives you the cold shoulder for making yourself miserable.
Luckily the workshop is warm and cozy with all of the candles, the fire, and the warm blankets so you won’t have to worry about those feverish chills. And while Vincent may not be giving you any attention, at least you have Jonesy to snuggle up with and keep you entertained.
Thomas Hewitt
He will hide anything and everything from you so that you can’t eat it and make yourself sick. He doesn’t have the time to be worrying over you y/n, please stop doing this.
When you do get sick he does his best to ignore you and not have any pity for you. Thomas always caves though, he just cares about you to much and hates seeing you be miserable.
Luda Mae will scold you for it though and make sure that anything you eat doesn’t have any peanuts. She’s in charge of the cooking so she does a pretty good job of not letting you get sick.
Thomas may not talk but he’s still very good at expressing himself. You can expect plenty of glares and angry hand gestures while he’s throwing blankets over you and placing a cold rag on your forehead.
Brahms Heelshire
He’s outraged. Why would you be making yourself sick when you have to take care of him! You’re being paid to take care of him and now he’s having to take care of you. How selfish, y/n!
Anything with peanuts will be hidden from the kitchen and stashed within the walls so that you can’t make yourself sick anymore. You have to follow the schedule and you being sick gets in the way of that.
If he has to, Brahms will add that you can’t have chocolate to the list of rules. After all, you do have to follow the rules.
If you talk Malcolm into bringing you a candy bar then Brahms will most likely get violent. Poor Malcolm didn’t know but Brahmsy doesn’t care. You’re breaking the rules, on purpose! That won’t work for him, you’ll have to be punished.
Billy Loomis
Takes chocolate off of the movie night snack list. But only for you, he’ll eat what you crave right in front of you with no remorse.
Whenever you manage to get ahold of something with peanuts in it he just mocks you. You did this to yourself after all, it’s not his fault. It’s not his responsibility to take care of you.
Doesn’t even mind if you make yourself sick. That just gives him an excuse to go about his illegal hobbies without needing to come up with an excuse as to why he can’t come over. After all, he doesn’t want to be around someone with a fever.
He’s the worst one considering he doesn’t even make an effort to try to stop you and has no remorse for you whatsoever when you get sick.
Stu Macher
Clings to you 24/7 and will spontaneously combust if he doesn’t so no y/n no chocolate or peanut butter or anything for you. If you’re sick he can’t drag you all over the place with him and that’s just not going to work.
If you manage to sneak something without him knowing he gets upset and complains about it. Still, he hates seeing you feel bad and will wrap you up in blankets on the couch.
The one time he caught you eating a candy bar he snatched it out of your hand and finished it himself. Just because you can’t have chocolate doesn’t mean that he can’t.
Feels bad that you can’t have one of your favorite snacks so on movie night’s he’ll buy you any snacks you want that don’t contain peanuts. But don’t try and take his chocolate away, he might love you but he will throw hands over a chocolate bar.
Jesse Cromeans
He has cameras covering every inch of his house. If you do anything he’s going to know about it so good luck trying to get ahold of anything that you shouldn’t have.
If you still manage to get ahold of something that you shouldn’t have it’s not a big deal. He has medical professionals on speed dial and plenty of capable people to watch over you.
Don’t expect Jesse to come home from a business trip just because you ate chocolate though. He can’t always drop everything to take care of you.
Still when he returns home to find you bundle up and shivering under a pile of blankets he caves in and spends time taking care of you
Asa Emory
Thinks it’s the stupidest thing ever and makes sure that you know it. Asa has better things to do than babysit an adult.
If he keeps you chained up in his hotel it’s not really like you have much of a say in what you get to eat. You can consume the scraps you’re given or starve, Asa doesn’t care which one you choose.
The first time you have an allergic reaction in the hotel while Asa is contemplating turning you into his house wife, you’ll notice that you’re never given anything with peanuts again.

Mr. Protector Man
There were only a few weeks left of your summer before you returned for Hogwarts for the final time, at least as a student. Your years at Hogwarts had been filled with twists thanks to the appearance of one Harry Potter, but you really couldn’t complain. In fact, you were quite grateful for his appearance. With someone with a more famous name than yours, you could finally move out of the spotlight and into something that you could call confidence. Not that you were not a confident person, but the constant reminder that your father was a murderer didn’t help in the whole “making friends” part of your life. Luckily, a pair of twins made their way into your life, and you could never explain how eternally grateful you were for their presence.
In your fifth year, however, the attention turned back to you when your father escaped Azkaban. It would have been terrible for you, had you not had Fred and George constantly reminding you of how incredible you were. Overtime, however, you grew more comfortable with the knowledge that your father was free, and when Remus met with you to tell you all that he had learned, you were ecstatic. Finally, you could say that your father was worth the love that you had stored away for him.
Your sixth year also brought about changes to your personality. You found that your confidence grew since people were no longer talking about you and your father. To say that you were grateful Harry was placed in the tournament was selfish, but you were happy to know that you could live your life without being put on trial for everything that you said and did because of your last name. Throughout that year, you were able to send a couple of letters to Sirius that were filled with your life story. He was thankful that you grew up to be happy and didn’t suffer at the hands of muggles like Harry did. All he ever wanted for you was for you to be happy, so when the summer came around, he was stuck at Grimmauld Place, you jumped at the opportunity to finally be with your dad. There were people, those that will not be mentioned, who thought that this was a terrible idea, but Remus suggested that this would be a good opportunity for the both of you.
When you finally moved in, you were nervous to be around the man who was never there to raise you. There was a part of you that resented him, but you understood the circumstances and swallowed your pride. When he saw you for the first time, he practically burst into tears, and you didn’t hesitate to launch yourself into your arms. You were both filled with joy at the thought of finally being able to become a sort of dysfunctional family. The rest of the day was filled with tears and laughter as he told you about his school days and you told him about yours. When Remus came to visit the happy family, he was shocked by how quickly you two got along. He thought there would be some awkwardness, but instead it felt as if the two of you had been together the whole time. He was delighted to see one of his oldest friends return to the world of the happy and see his smile be genuine.
When the Weasley family joined what felt like a party of two, you were even more excited than before, although you were slightly disappointed at the loss of time that was going to be spent with your father. Your routine had changed to accommodate the gingers, but worst of all, you had to keep things under control with George. Sirius was aware that you were seeing someone, but he chose not to think too much into it. It wasn’t until he found the two of you cuddled up on the couch that he realized that your boyfriend was sleeping in the room right beside yours. Now, cue the protective father instinct, and you find Padfoot sleeping in the hallway between the two doors most nights. The problem with this logic was that Sirius was a deep sleeper, and so long as you didn’t step on the poor dog, you could get away with just about anything. You easily tiptoed across his sleeping body to find your boyfriend. George was worried about making this move, so he often let you do it to avoid him losing his life.
With only a few days left, you found that you were beginning to worry about what school would be like when you got back. There were rumors spreading and false information making its way into headlines. Both you and Harry were at risk to some bad treatment from the school, but you just remembered all of the stories Sirius told you about his time at Hogwarts and tried to channel his cool energy. Sirius could sense your change in demeanor, but he chose not to question it. He even looked to George to see if he noticed it as well, and he was pleasantly surprised to see that your attentive boyfriend was indeed acknowledging these small changes. They both wrote it off as some before school jitters, but Sirius and George were still worried about you.
Now, fast forward to meeting the pink toad. Everything in your body ached at the sound of her shrill voice. More than anything, you wanted to throw something at her in hopes of finally shutting her up. It wasn’t until your first class with her, that you really began to feel hatred bubble up inside of you. You were aware of how she mistreated others, especially Harry, so you tried to stay off her radar. Sadly, she was very aware of who you were and reminded you of it every chance she got.
“Miss Black, please put away your wand.” You grimaced at her voice but maneuvered your wand away from the view of the wretched woman. You sighed and started writing down the useless information from the book. Everything that was written down and published was nearly a lie. You put your head in your hand and continued to sketch down those ideas of what a useless institution called “defense against the dark arts.” How was this even true? You lived with Remus and for a while with your father. Both people taught you defense knowing that your last name would be troublesome. This information was vital to your life, but this class was killing you slowly.
“Ahem,” her voice made you want to shove the quill into your ears. “Miss Black, sit up straight and show some respect. It seems that you cannot act like a lady in this class. I will see you in detention tonight. Maybe then you will learn how not to act like the daughter of a murderer.” You scoffed, but you remained quiet. You thought back to your last talk you had with Sirius.
“You know, there are still going to be people who will say things about me.” You sighed at your father.
“Of course I know. I know the truth though, and for now that’s all that matters.” Sirius smiled at your commentary, but  he knew that words about your family can hurt, especially when they are pointed at you. He was someone who was unaware of the comments that can be made. He was worried before you were born that his name would be troublesome, but there was never a time that he believed that it would be his own fault.
“I need you to understand that it is not your duty to defend me. The world will not believe the truth, especially given these times. They don’t believe Harry or Dumbledore, which means that they are not going to believe you. Please, promise me that you will take care of yourself first.” You reluctantly nodded your head.
“Fine, but I’m not going to be happy about it. I hate being a reflection of a lie.” You wanted the rest of the wizarding world to know what an amazing man your father was. You wanted to be seen as more than the daughter of someone who murdered his friends without a second thought. You gave your father a hug and murmured a promise to him that you meant to keep.
As you stand before the door that led to the devil, you questioned why you would make a promise that constituted you to put yourself in danger and to lose all that you had worked so hard to maintain in your life. Your night was spent with a throbbing, bloody hand, and a single tear that was not for the physical pain, but the emotional loss you acquired by allowing this witch to have an impact.
The following weeks, you met with the toad in detention. Most of the time, they were small offenses that typically would go unnoticed by other professors. You kept your word to your father the entire time, despite the physical and emotional turmoil of these events. The word “insubordinate” stained your hand and was a constant reminder of how you felt. You felt useless and worthless. This didn’t go unnoticed. George saw this change in your behavior. Your smile was forced, and your eyes were red with tears that he was certain met only your pillow. He knew that he had to take action. He felt terrible for doing something before, but he never knew how bad it was until he saw you that one night in the hallway.
You sat down on the ground and let your back trace the freezing bricks. You took your hand and wrapped it in a bandage, something you knew to bring with you now. You placed the wrapped hand against the wall, as a way to numb the stinging. You didn’t let any tears fall. Instead, you stared ahead of you and drowned out any noises. That was how George found you. He walked over to you and sat down beside you. No words were shared in this exchange. He didn’t know what to say or do to help, so he stayed by your side in silence, hoping that you would say something.
“I’m sorry that you have to see me like this. I will head back up to my dorm and get some sleep. You should too.” You stood up and placed a chaste kiss on cheek and walked briskly to your dorm. George watched your retreating form and realized that he failed to protect you like he wished he could. He made a promise to himself that he would not allow anything else to happen to you.
You were sitting in the great hall when George appeared beside you. He pulled you into his body and kept his arm over your shoulder. You forced another smile and tried not to get emotional. It felt strange to be held like you were so important to someone. George didn’t let you go for a while. Then you both made your way to the classroom that was known to bring pain and grief to many of the students. You sat down and tried to keep your cool. No matter how hard you tried to not cause any trouble, the woman always found a way to bring attention to you in a negative light.
“Miss Black, you should know by now that I am not a fan of your attitude, but this is unacceptable.” You weren’t even sure what she was lecturing you about. Honestly, you couldn’t care less what the issue was.
“Professor, I think you should be respectful of this girl. She has done nothing wrong. You just don’t like her because you don’t like her last name. You should mind your tongue.” Those harsh and direct words came from the mouth of the one person who would always have your back.
“Mr. Weasley, I will see both you and Miss Black in detention. Now, sit down and do your work.” George scoffed and walked over to where you were sitting.
“I don’t think so. This class is over for today as far as I’m concerned.” His act of defiance came to a close with you being led out by him with a shocked look on the woman’s face.
“George. George, stop it right now. We can’t just walk out of class. We are going to get into more trouble.” As you two continued down the hall he stopped abruptly.
“No Y/N. I am not going to stop. You’re the one who needs to stop lying to me. You can’t keep letting her have an effect on you. We both know that you are so much more than the reputation that comes with your name. She’s just jealous that you are more famous and pure than she ever will be. She’s a disgrace to the world. Not your dad, and most certainly not you.” His words brought the tears back. His love for you was unbelievably pure and unconditional.
As George watched you fall apart in front of him, he held you. You clung to him as if he was going to disappear if you let go. You both stood in the middle of this empty hallway without a care in the world. Neither of you were aware of how much time was spent there. Your tears started to dry, and your hiccups eventually dissipated, much to your appreciation. You two only became aware of your surroundings when the sound of footsteps echoed.
“Mr. Weasley, Miss Black. Why aren’t you in class?” You turned your head in the direction of Professor Mcgonagall. As she saw your tear stained expression, her face dropped. She assumed what the issue was. Throughout your years at Hogwarts, she saw a lot of Sirius in you. You reminded her of the chaos your father and his friends brought to school, but you also reflected his kindness and sincerity. There had always been some dissonance between you and some of the professors, but she had always had a soft spot for you. With the terror of the woman in pink, she could only assume that you and Harry were getting the brunt of it. The Weasley twins as well, but she suspected that they were intentional in their actions.
“Sorry professor, but I couldn’t sit there and listen to her talk to Y/N like that any longer.”
“Please professor, it was my fault. Don’t let George get in any trouble for protecting me.” You couldn’t handle knowing that you were the reason George was in trouble two times in the span of an hour with two different professors.
“Did you two receive detention from her?” You both nodded. “Well, I will make sure that it is spent with me instead. Now, I don’t expect you to return to that class, but please try to be punctual to the others. Oh, and Miss Black, don’t let her words get to you. We both know the truth.” She offered you a smile and assured you both that she would see you in her office for detention, which you both know would not be a real detention.
That night, you sat by George and talked. For the first time in too long, the two of you discussed how you were feeling.
“Y/N you know that your name is not a representation of you. Her words are nothing more than a  jealous filled disgust. She holds the opinion of the ministry who refuses to acknowledge the truth of our times. But I need you to come to me if she ever says or does anything to you when I am not around. I will always do what I can to be there for you because you are worth the world.” You shifted to move closer to his body, and you nodded. You were grateful to him for being there as your voice when you couldn’t be there for yourself.
“Thank you Georgie for being there for me. I love you so much.” He chuckled quietly.
“I love you too, but this wasn’t a one time thing. I am here to be your hero, which I have already proved to be earlier, if I might add. You and I are going to do this together, and I’m not going to let her hurt you anytime soon. I will, however, be working with Fred to get some revenge going. You are welcome to join me, but you can’t be out in the field with us. I’m not going to let you get caught, and get into more trouble. Understood?”
“Yes George, I understand.” You giggled. “Mr. Protector Man.”
“That was all you came up with? I’m ashamed.” He laughed, and you joined in.
“Give me time, I’ll come up with something better eventually.”
When you returned to Grimmauld Place for the holidays, you were ecstatic. Your dad was just as happy to see you, especially to spend the holidays with you for the first time since you were an infant. Sirius was also aware that he owed a lot to your boyfriend. George had sent a letter to his mother that included an additional note for Sirius. He wrote about the issues that you were dealing with due to the pink witch, and how you did everything you could to uphold your promise to him, despite the physical pain you endured. Sirius was proud of you for being strong, but he felt guilty knowing how hurt you were because of him again.
“Y/N, come here. I think we should talk.” You walked over to your dad and sat down beside him. “I know you made a promise to me earlier on, but I hope that we can acknowledge that this woman is not worth your time and energy. I know, because you're a lot like me, that you want to tell her off, and I think maybe you should. I just need you to be careful about it, because I don’t want you getting hurt anymore.” You nodded and thought about all that you wanted to say to her. You always bit your tongue, but you also thought that maybe it was a blessing in disguise that you never told her off. George knew exactly what to do and say to avoid you getting into any more trouble, but you knew that if you spoke your mind, then you probably would get into more serious trouble.
“Thank you, but I think I’ll keep silent a little longer. Plus, I’ve been helping Fred and George with their pranks, so I think that is enough for now.” Sirius’ face lit up knowing that you pranked the toad. That is exactly what he and James would have done.
“So, this George guy,” Sirius began with a smirk on his face, “I approve of him. He’s a good one, and I’m happy he’s with you.” You smiled at your dad.
“Me too. He really is the best.”
“I think him and I need to have a word though.” You sighed at him and gave him a knowing look. “It won’t be anything bad, entirely.” You laughed and stood up and patted him on the back jokingly.
George appeared in the doorway and made his way over to your father. You left the two of them alone, knowing that their conversation was going to be a good one.
After a long while, longer than you expected, George reappeared.
“So, what did you two talk about?” You urged, pointing a finger at his chest.
“You know, a little of this, a little of that. He just wants to know that you’re happy and that I am doing my job. Protecting you of course, and he offered a nice little threat that I should never even think about hurting you because then he would willingly find himself back in Azkaban.” You gasped playfully, knowing that your father would never actually hurt him, and that George could never hurt you either.
“Well, the ministry thinks he is a murderer, so who knows what he might do.”
“I am your own personal Mr. Protector Man, so I don't think that he is going to be able to touch me.” You both laughed at his comment.
“I thought you hated that name. You told me you were ashamed.”
“It’s growing on me. I love you Miss Black, surname and all.”
“I love you too Mr. Weasley, but I think I like Mr. Protector Man a bit more.” You giggled and rested your head on his chest.

Colt covered his ears when another explosion shook the ground, he had to ignore the sounds of the screaming people around him. He needed to find Gabi and Falco. He’d already lost two of the kids, Udo and Zofia. He’d failed them. They died and he wasn’t able to do anything, if he’d been faster maybe he could have gotten to Udo, if he’d been one of the actual warriors he could have made him listen. If he was stronger he’d have been able to make Gabi stay with him. All four of them were gone or missing and Colt had been the one who was left with them. He was supposed to protect them. Porco would be the next War Cheif and Colt would be his second. How was he supposed to be worthy enough to inherit the Beast Titan if he couldn’t even keep those kids safe?
But he couldn’t focus on those things, not right now. He had to find Falco and Gabi. He needed to keep them safe, he had to try at least. He’d never forgive himself if he didn’t try to look for them and if he couldn’t find Falco his parents would never forgive him either. But where was he even supposed to look? He’d not seen Falco sine he went off with Reiner and Gabi… maybe she went back towards where Eren Yeager was fighting. And then Y/N.
“Shit.” Colt swore under his breath when he realized he’d not even thought about you. He’d been so caught up in thinking about the kids that he’d not even thought about you. You’d prefer that though, you were probably helping people right now too. The two of you were supposed to meet after the announcement by Willy Tybur and now… now this was happening. Liberio was falling apart in front of his eyes. If there was one thing he knew about you it was that you’d never let anyone be hurt if you could help it.
That was why he had to find Falco and Gabi first. You were smart, you could get yourself out of situations and knew what to do. Even if Falco and Gabi were warrior candidates they were still kids. Stubborn and strong but kids. There was no way he was going to leave them alone. It wasn’t possible for him to do that. He would do anything to save those kids, he had to.
Quickly he walked away from the hospital, the sounds of crying and screaming following him as he forced his way through the crowds of people. He’d find Gabi and Falco and then his way to you. He’d make sure that everyone he cared about was safe. If he could do that then he’d be less of a failure. There were three people who he could still save and that was what he’d have to do. No it was what he had to do.
He had to go through different streets on his way back towards the now battlefield his home had been turned into. Every time he passed another broken building he felt himself grow nauseous. How many people had died tonight? How many innocent people died, how many children were dead? There were already the bodies of two children on his own hands. No matter what anyone might say to him he  would never be able to believe it was anything other than his fault. If he’d been quicker, stronger? They could still be alive.
Shaking his head Colt pushed himself forward, he couldn’t think about that. Later he’d mourn Zofia and Udo. Right now he had to focus on finding his brother and Gabi. He’d seen the direction Gabi had ran off in, Falco had been with Reiner and that was the only thing that was keeping him from totally losing his mind. Colt knew that Reiner would do anything to keep Falco safe. Which was why he had to do the same for Gabi.
“Colt!” He heard his name and almost kept running, he couldn’t stop for them. He had to find the kids. He couldn’t stop to help everyone who called his name. Maybe it was selfish of him, he couldn’t help it though. Falco was his brother. They would just have to understand. “Colt please!” Coming to a halt he stared at the street in front of him. Just move. Just move and ignore them. They didn’t need him, Falco needed him. Gabi needed him. These people could help themselves. Right?
No. No they couldn’t and he knew that. These were civilians and he couldn’t leave them helpless like this. If he did that he couldn’t call himself a soldier. He wouldn’t be fit to inherit anything if abandoned civilians when they needed him. Covering his face Colt wiped his face, his hand coming back wet. When did he start crying? Wiping away the rest of the tears he turned back towards the two people who’d been calling out to him.
There was rubble all over the place, he could see blood on the rocks and people desperately trying to move the rocks away. The sight put the fresh memory of Zofia right back in front of his mind. He couldn’t save her but maybe he could save someone else. Maybe he could do something right tonight. Reiner was with Falco. Gabi ran back to where Commander Magath was. He had to tell himself they were safe, at least for now. Put that aside for the moment, put his duty as a soldier before his duty as a brother.
“Mrs. Weber.” Colt was out of breath when he finally got to the small crowd of people, he’d been running since he left the hospital and this was the first time he’d stopped since then. “How can I help?” Looking towards the rubble again he felt his heart stop. “Y/N?” Your name left his lips as he stared down at you. At your blood covered face and eyes filled with tears as you laid on the ground under the rubble.
This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. It couldn’t. He’d wake up in his bed and this would be a nightmare and none of this would be real. Falco would run in his room and wake him up any second now. He just had to wait for it. He’d be awake in just a second. He’d wake up and none of this would be real. This was just a nightmare. It had to be.
He saw you open your mouth to speak but quickly shook his head, “No. No don’t say anything.” Pushing on the rubble he tried to move it but it wouldn’t budge. “Help me move this!” He cried out at the people who were now just standing there. They’d called him over to help and now they weren’t helping. “We have to move this off of her!” He was frantic now, pushing at the rock he felt his hands scrape against the jagged edge of the destroyed building. “Just… you’ll be okay. I promise.” Colt wasn’t sure if he was trying to make you believe it or himself. He just had to keep pushing.
When another pair of hands joined his he pushed again, harder, putting all of his weight into it but it still didn’t move. “Come on!” He kept pushing, trying to get it off of you. Tears were now streaming down his face and blood stains covered the rock where his hands had been, still he pushed. He had to. He’d get this off of you and he’d be able to take you to the hospital. He had to.
Feeling something on his leg he looked down to see your hand weakly holding onto his pant leg. “Colt.” When you spoke more blood came from your mouth, a short cough shaking your body.
“I said not to talk! You need to save your strength okay? Just focus on—” A sob tore through your throat, cutting him off. “Please just try not to move.” Colt’s voice was shaking and his eyes were blurry with tears but he wasn’t giving up on you.
Your hand on his pants tugged again, this time harder. “It’s okay.” You were smiling at him, the same soft smile you’d had when he first told you he loved you. Colt shook his head again trying to stop you but you spoke first. “Just… hold me. Please.” The words were broken, coming out between coughs and blood but you were still looking at him like he hung the stars.
Falling to his knees next to you he moved his hand to your cheek, you were so cold. “We can get you help. I know we can.” The tears were falling freely now, he couldn’t stop them if he tried. As much as he wanted to be strong for you he couldn’t stop the tears. “You just have to hold on.”
Moving your hand up to his you laced your fingers together, a sob shaking his body when your hand went limp against his. “I’ll hold onto you.” Your voice was quiet, and the coughing had stopped. He couldn’t tell if more blood was coming from your mouth or if it was just the blood that was already there. “You’ll keep me warm.”
“Of course I will.” He didn’t want to admit how much his voice was shaking as he leaned forward and pressed his forehead against yours. “I told you I’d always be there for you. As soon as I’m an honorary Marleyan we’ll get married. We’ll have a good wedding too. Not one of the ones they throw together in the internment zone. I’ll get the beast titan and then people will respect us. I’ll make a good life for both of us.” As the words left his lips he wasn’t sure he believed them anymore. Everything under your chest was crushed and your face was turning a sickly white.
You nodded at his words, “Yeah. Yeah I want that. I’ll be Mrs. Colt Grice.” leaning back Colt nodded, neither of you had ever mentioned marriage before. But right now… right now he’d say anything to keep you hanging on. Your eyes went from his face to the sky, the stars still shining despite the hell happening under them. The soft smile slowly slid off your face and with a new-found strength you held onto his hand. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.” Your voice was so quiet now. If he wasn’t so close to you he wouldn’t have heard it. A small whimper left you and he grabbed your face gently, making you look at him. “I’m scared Colt.”
He heard a sob behind him but he ignored it. Pressing a kiss to your bloody cheek he smiled at you. “It’s okay. You don’t have to be scared. I’m right here, there’s nothing to be scared of when I’m here.” He felt you nod, “You just focus on me okay? Just listen to my voice and you’ll be fine.” Colt squeezed your hand and pressed another kiss to your cold cheek. “I love you. You know that right?” You didn’t say anything. “Y/N I love you.” He said it again. “I love you.” His hands shook as he waited for you to say something. Anything. He couldn’t pull away, he couldn’t. He couldn’t face what he knew. He wasn’t strong enough.
“Son….” A large hand was on his shoulder but he pushed it away, sobs wracking his body. He knew what he was going to say and he couldn’t let them. He didn’t want to hear it.
“I love you.” He said again, his lips pressed into your hair. “I love you.”

what is going on with all the bias on robyn hill’s wiki page, anyway? - an aside
As someone who uses the RWBY wiki with some degree of frequency - often because I’m looking for art references, or Semblance and weapon names - I’m used to... some amount of bias in the articles for different characters? Like, let’s be real, it’s not a perfect wiki! Community-maintained stuff isn’t easy to all keep on the same track! But, generally, it gives the facts well enough and doesn’t do too bad a job keeping all the balls in the air when it comes to new information from all four corners of this franchise.
Well, until you open the article for Robyn Hill, and realise it’s an absolute disaster. Like, really; the impartial voice just plain doesn’t exist for her, and almost all of her wiki is written in such a way that she reads as being an absolutely insufferable, hostile, hard-to-like character. Even if you aren’t a fan of Robyn personally, you have to admit that if you hadn’t seen the show yourself, you might very well come away from her article presuming she’s a major antagonist of Volumes 7 and 8.
Like, for instance, let’s take a look at the first paragraph of her Personality section:
Robyn has a direct and confident personality, having no trouble being confrontational with Atlas personnel, including the Ace Operatives. Robyn also seems to suffer from overconfidence and arrogance, shown in her encounters with Ruby and celebrating her election victory before it was verified. She is aggressive and hostile in nature, quickly jumping to conflict without thinking through consequences. However, she is also shown to be reasonable when the situation calls for it.
And, for good measure, here’s another paragraph from the same section:
In "With Friends Like These" Robyn displayed a rather impulsive side of her personality, when upon hearing that James Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle and arrest those against him, she started a fight between herself, Clover Ebi, and Qrow Branwen onboard a Manta with Tyrian Callows in custody. Despite the fact, there was no order or her arrest. Her brashness led to Tyrian breaking free and crashing the Manta as well as her becoming unconscious.
(Taken from Robyn’s RWBY Wiki page. Bolding is mine.)
In every instance here, all of the “negative” aspects of her personality take centre stage; she’s confrontational. She suffers from arrogance. She is aggressive and hostile. She started the fight. Her brashness led to the crash. All of this is only compounded when her positive traits trail behind as an afterthought; she’s direct and confrontational, overconfident and arrogant, aggressive and hostile, impulsive and jumps to conclusions... but hey! As least she’s reasonable when the situation calls for it.
The way that this information is presented to the reader is quite literally on par with how the wiki presents the personalities of the actual literal villains who appear throughout the show. Let’s take, for instance, the Personality section of Cinder Fall:
Cinder is ruthless and sadistic, as demonstrated when she delivers a killing blow to a clearly defeated Pyrrha Nikos in "End of the Beginning" and when she throws a spear at a defenseless Weiss Schnee in "The More the Merrier." She is relentlessly driven to gain power and determined to cross any line to obtain it. Cinder demonstrates a cunning that shows in her successful manipulation of events and people throughout the first three volumes. Cinder is also arrogant and egomaniacal, and as such, relishes in dominance and gloating, displaying shameless pleasure in the misery she has caused others.
Or, the Personality section of Raven Branwen:
Raven is cynical, patronizing, selfish and stubborn. She believed her act of "kindness" of saving Yang's life from Neopolitan was sufficient despite having left Yang at a very young age and refused to protect her daughter when in need after that.
Raven is also very prideful and hypocritical, refusing to acknowledge her faults and always trying to justify her actions both to others and to herself, often putting the blame on others for them even if she feels real guilt about them.
It makes sense that for an antagonist, the primary faults and flaws of their personalities will come first, as to better represent them as the villains to clarify to the reader who they are and why they act as they do in their storylines. However, the fact that Robyn arguably has an even more caustic write-up then Raven, despite not being an antagonist, goes to show the lengths this writer has gone to present her in a significantly more negative light than she ever appears in the show.
If this doesn’t seem convincing, let’s look at a more direct comparison; what does the wiki say about Ironwood? He’s present in the same seasons, and has now become more of an antagonist in the latter episodes; is the wiki quite as blunt about his flaws?
Ironwood is courteous to his allies, as shown by his first onscreen interaction with Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch. He is also far-thinking and tactical, wondering about the future, as seen when he speaks to Ozpin about Qrow Branwen's message. He also has a jovial, friendly, humorous and proud public persona, which he uses as a spokesman for the weapon manufacturers of Atlas.
However, as courteous Ironwood may appear, he can also be incredibly blunt, often preferring the direct approach. When he feels necessary, Ironwood is not afraid to bring the full might of his military command to bear, which sparked disagreements with both Glynda and Ozpin. Nevertheless, Ironwood is extremely loyal to his comrades, and however questionable his methods may be, he seems to have genuinely good intentions behind them.
Uh, no.
Instead, when his flaws are mentioned (for example, being blunt), it’s written in a significantly less... abrasive manner. It’s referred to as the direct approach, versus Robyn who is described as confrontational. Even then, his flaws are folded in to his (alleged) positive traits; he is not afraid, extremely loyal, and has genuinely good intentions, despite the fact that the show has now proven that Ironwood’s flaws greatly outweigh these. It reveals how thoroughly all of Robyn’s actions are presented as the work of an arrogant troublemaker, whilst Ironwood’s actions are presented as the efforts of a man working towards some greater good.
Also, I’ll add that in both examples, I used the first two paragraphs of their Personality sections. These are both the first two things you read about these characters, yet look at how differently they’re summarised.
What is interesting, however, is that despite this bias being extremely self-evident, the comments on her page generally chime agreement, referring to her as “overconfident, arrogant, impulsive and hotheaded to the point of being unlikable”, and claiming that she’s “literally the worse character in the show next to cinder, blake and yang”[1]. Someone mentions that Robyn has earned quite the hatedom... but why?
Broadly, my experiences of Robyn Hill’s writing in the fandom has been through a queer lens, and the vast majority of writers who’ve covered her and the Happy Huntresses have been women, or queer, or trans, or all the above... basically, the people who are usually responsible for a vast majority of fanfiction, let’s be real. These writers love Robyn, and have explored and extrapolated on her character to marvellous degree. Yet, at no singular point have any of these flaws ever been written quite as strongly as the wiki implies they are, nor have I seen much evidence of them myself in the show. For instance, let’s take one of the more serious points in her Personality section; she started a fight between herself, Clover Ebi, and Qrow Branwen [...] her brashness led to Tyrian breaking free and crashing the Manta as well as her becoming unconscious.
When we watch this scene again, Robyn did initiate the fight... because she was rightfully aware that Clover would obey his orders, even if they were wrong. Despite everything that happened prior in the entirety of Volume 7, when given orders to bring Qrow in alongside RWBY, it was clear that Clover fully intended to follow it through, which Robyn knows from prior experience with the AceOps:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[image ID: two images of Clover, Robyn and Qrow in the dark-grey interior of the Manta ship. Robyn has her weapon aimed at Clover as he stands in front of Qrow. Clover is saying “Only Qrow is under arrest [...] please don’t make me arrest you too.”]
Her knowledge of the AceOps means that she reacted accordingly; trying to stop him from taking Qrow in and obeying Ironwood’s plan the only way she knows the AceOps respond to. Her reaction isn’t unwarranted. However, my point isn’t to argue that Robyn was right or wrong, but rather that regardless of who started the fight, the way the wiki explains this specific incident is that it’s solely Robyn’s fault that Tyrian escaped and crashed the Manta, but we know this isn’t the case. Robyn and Qrow both fought Clover, and it was Clover’s good luck (or Qrow’s bad luck, depending on how you view it) that allowed for Kingfisher to break Tyrian’s bonds. Her brashness is blamed for the outcome, but in reality, this outcome could have been avoided together if Clover had not chosen to follow his orders and bring in an innocent man. Also, she didn’t crash the Manta! That was all Tyrian! The intentional tying together of these two events as her fault, however, are a neat package of blame.
In these instances on the wiki, Robyn’s personality appears amplified, focusing specifically on her flaws and exaggerating them to the extremes that, as noted earlier, matches the language used to define the very villains of the series. Yet, the people who enjoy her and the Happy Huntresses often perceive those same flaws to a significantly lesser extent, or even see those flaws as actually being boons of her character; for instance, reading her alleged arrogance as passion. So, why such division?
Before, I mentioned her “negative” traits, and I put this into quote marks because traits don’t always align nicely into good and bad. All aspects of a person can vary on how positive they are based on context - even the show proves this, with protectiveness becoming paranoia (Ironwood) or loyalty becoming subservience (Winter). Even a character that is broadly composed of more unfavourable traits can have this contextual shift; Cinder’s stubbornness to her goals makes her a fast learner and a tenacious opponent.
Yet, why did the writer (or writers) choose to highlight almost every aspect of Robyn’s character as a bad thing? Why did they frame her decisions as such? I have a suspicion it’s to do with her character at large; she’s a bold socialist politician who believes in equality and fairness for all, who refuses to stand for incompetence and obedience towards evil causes. She’s outspoken in her views, and reacts strongly to those who threaten to overturn her work. Also, she’s a woman, in charge of a group of other women, at least one of whom is canonically trans. To those who agree with her in real life, Robyn appears as a great character! We admire her work ethic and we support her ends. To those who may not... well, it’s not hard to see how they might perceive her as more of a cocky, authority-defying upstart. Of course, the core text of RWBY doesn’t quite believe the latter; RWBY has always placed Robyn as the direct counter to authoritarianism, whether it be Jacques, Clover, or Ironwood, and even the article admits that she is a potent voice for the people of Mantle. Still, it’s clear that there’s plenty of people in a vocal minority who are deeply dissatisfied by Robyn, and aren’t afraid to make their stance on the matter exceedingly clear.
So, what does this all mean? Well, here’s what we can say for sure; Robyn’s article is, and has always been, stringently biased against her character, and often misconstrues her motives and decisions. This is maybe the more obvious part, but how should her article be worded to make this less so? Likely, I’d rephrase a lot of it to be less damaging to her character; she isn’t hostile, she holds people accountable. She isn’t quick to jump to conflict, she is familiar with how Atlas responds to anti-authority with violence. She isn’t arrogant, she believes in the power of the people as being the right thing to fight for. Even this makes it clearer that her character is about resisting the oppression inherent in Atlas, and is a much clearer outline of her personality as a whole. People may disagree with this phrasing and summary also, but given her character is based on Robin Hood, it’s also not far from the mark in terms of what she should represent.
TL;DR: Robyn’s wiki page is written with a deep bias against her character and what she represents, acts upon, and chooses to do in the show; I have no doubt that in canon, this sort of language would probably be used by Jacques himself as a smear campaign, haha. Whilst I can’t speak for the author and their motives, I have a distinct feeling that this article was written, or edited, by someone who is either:
not a fan of Robyn
not a fan of a new female character
not a fan of a new female character in a position of power
not a fan of a character with socialist/communist/antifa ideals
all of the above and then some???
Even though I’m not going to edit her wiki page (I’m very shy and I’ve never done it before), I think it’s worth analysing this if only as a reminder of the inherent biases of an author even when people are trying to present a character’s information impartially. This isn’t the first wiki I’ve seen misconstrue - or even make incorrect assumptions on - facts about a character, and it won’t be the last. In the meantime, though, I leave you with this fact:
Robyn Hill slaps huge nuts and I love her.
[1] I’m not naming the users who posted these things here, because it’s unnecessary. You can find them for yourself at the bottom of Robyn’s wiki, but there’s no need to respond; some people just don’t like Robyn, and that’s fine - I’m just explaining how bias leaks into wikis like water into a sponge. It happens!

Irredeemable my foot
Hi everyone, I decided to write a fic centered on Chloe; is a sugar fic. I always liked her character. And I would like to dedicate this fic to Sienna, aka @catsandfanfic. Happy 14th birthday. Her birthday is March 6th. In my time zone it’s March 6 so hopefully you’re not getting this too early. I hope your birthday is amazing, and I really hope you enjoy this fic; i heard you like Maribat. And @justdyingontheinside gives you a shout out on your special day.
Chloe knew how everyone expected it to go. The blond could admit… She was spoiled, selfish, petty, and insecure, with mommy issues galore.
But she wasn’t a villain. Yet she could understand why people thought she’d go down like one.
Nevertheless, for people to think she’d ever willingly work for Hawkmoth; a man who ruthlessly used his power to corrupt the hearts and minds of innocents (like her father, mother, Adrien, Sabrina, and everyone else in Paris) and use them to further his own agenda… was too much.
The people who believed that was basically saying Chloe was irredeemable; that there was no way she could ever be anything more than what she was. Like she couldn’t grow. Like she couldn’t better herself; like everyone in the world had that ability except for her. She was fourteen-years-old.
           Only fifteen!
Why was it so easy to write her off?
Chloe Bourgeois was a bully, not a freaking serial killer.
She wasn’t a Supervillain.  However, Chloe could admit, that for one brief moment when she realized she was passed over yet again by Ladybug for the chance to help save the day, hurt and anger had filled her. That if Hawkmoth had sent a butterfly after her that maybe… MAYBE for a second, she’d take his offer.
At least, he thought she could be of some use.
It wasn’t fair, Chloe remembered stomping her foot as jealously filled her.  Why didn’t Ladybug pick her? She was so much better than all those other stupid heroes! So much better than that mangy Chat Noir even. Queen Bee would be a much better partner. If she could just prove it!
And that suddenly it was like a lightbulb went off above her head, the kind you only see in cartoons. A smile spread over her face.
The dark butterfly that was headed her way suddenly changed its course.
Yes, Chloe had thought, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll prove it. I’ll show them all. I’m a hero. And I’m going to save everyone!
She could be better.
She would be better.
(And once she did, maybe Ladybug would think so too)
Nevertheless, even if Ladybug never knew. Chloe would. She would know she did the right thing because it was the right thing to do; no other reason. That would be enough for her. Even if it meant she’d never be Queen Bee again.
Chloe was going to prove she was a hero after all. With or without the mask or magical powers.
The world thought she wasn’t redeemable. Well, she was going to show the world what a real redemption arc looked like.
The first thing needed to do was plan. Hawkmoth was too strong. He needed to be brought down fast before he becomes unbeatable. Ladybug was perfect but she was still just a kid. She needed more help.
Outside help. Chloe knew there were other superheroes out there. The Avengers. The flash and his team in central city. Superman and his superfam in Metropolis. The Teen Titans. The Justice League. But to beat Hawkmoth would take stealth. It took intelligence. And people used to dealing with total nutjobs in costumes. Heroes who could help finally crack the mystery of who Hawkmoth was.
           Paris needs the Batfamily.
Which means Chloe was going to Gotham. But she wouldn’t go alone. She needed an Ally, or preferably Allies.
Chloe decided to figure out who was who on the best board of life.
The first was easy Ladybug was the White King; a true, just, and kick-butt hero. Chloe made herself the Queen; because whether Ladybug knew it or not, Chloe had just become her strongest protector. (She only just manage to argue against making Chat Noir a pawn; instead named him a Knight.) Sabrina, though had some major insecurity, was a good friend of Chloe. She was smart enough not to fall for Lila’s fool’s gold.
Sabrina had learned at the heel of her father when it came to detective work. She had mastered computers thanks to her mother who was a high-level computer programmer.  She knew self-defense since her parents shoved her into Karate when she was younger. The redheaded was organized to the point of being OCD. She was loyal to a fault.
With a little confidence, Sabrina could be a real asset to Team Ladybug. And she would be. Chloe just needed to show that she trusted the redhead, believed in her.
Chloe wished she could bring Adrien in but he was a civilian with the backbone of a twizzler. He was too forgiving and to sheltered from the real world. It had worked in her benefit before, otherwise, he’d have dropped her as a friend a long time ago. But things had changed. Chloe needed friends who would stand up against her not just threatened to not be her friend anymore. It wouldn’t do any good in the long run after all.
Hawkmoth was the Black king; pure evil. The Peacock shrew was his Queen. And, Chloe decided, Lila was his bishop. The sausage haired was a manipulative, rancid, liar. And from what she had seen of Lila’s akumatization, the Italian girl was fully in control of her actions. Which meant Lila was working with Hawkmoth willingly.
And since Lila was the only bad guy she could give a real name for, Chloe decided she would be the key to bringing down Hawkmoth.
Thus Lila Rossi became public enemy number one.
Lila was dangerous in a way hawkmoth couldn’t be. She lied and twisted minds with no powers whatsoever. She turned nearly all of Bustier’s class into untrustworthy minions. They should’ve been White; on the side of good. But they had proven to be disloyal and easily influenced. The class couldn’t be trusted.
They had turned against the one person even Chloe had a hard time not deeming a Saint.
           Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Chloe strongly disliked the girl, mostly out of envy. The blond didn’t need therapy to know that she wanted what the bluenette had; a mom that adored her, a dad that actually tried to help and not just throw money at any situation, sheer talent, and pretty much the instant admiration of almost anyone she met.
However, she was also strong and fierce. Marinette was a force of good hard to reckoned with. Chloe needed all the help she could get.
Which meant recruiting Dupain-Cheng for the cause.
That might prove harder than getting Batman to help out.
When Chloe and Sabrina showed up at the bakery and politely asked to speak with Marinette, she was given a suspicious look by Marinette’s mother (Sabel or something, Chloe couldn’t remember). Still, she called her daughter downstairs.
Marinette walked into with a bright happy smile that quickly faded when she saw Chloe.
“We need to talk, Marinette,” Chloe forced herself to say the other girl’s first name. “Its an emergency.” Sabrina nudged her. “Please.”
It was obviously the shock of Chloe saying please that got Marinette to take them up to her bedroom.
Marinette tried her best to smile, “So what’ s the emerg-” Chloe cut her off.
“We’re going to Gotham to recruit Batman and his fam,” Chloe told her. “To help Ladybug bring down HawkLoser. You coming or not.”
           The bluenette just blinked.
Sabrina winced at her best friend’s lack of tact, “What Chloe is trying to say is… We could really use your help. Ladybug could use your help. Everyone likes you. You can convince Batman to come.”
“…Why?” Marinette asked after a moment of silence.
“Ladybug needs help!” Chloe told her. “Chat Noir throws tantrums all the time. Hawkmoth has the Peacock and Lila at his deposal. Ladybug hasn’t called in Rena or Caraprace in almost a year, so there has to be a reason for that. She needs help! She needs us!”
The Asian girl nodded slowly, “I mean, why come to me? Why help Ladybug like this?”
Chloe frowned, “Because you always do what’s right; the good, noble thing even if it’s utterly ridiculous for you to do so. I’m doing this, helping, Ladybug, because she needs help. I’m a hero, no matter what anyone says or thinks. And Heroes help.”
The bluenette looked at the two girls. They had been a thorn in her side for years. But she always thought they could change. She believed they could. And coming to her, Chloe archenemy, was proof that they were changing. “What’s the plan?”
The blond smiled. “Sabrina managed to outline the patrol routes for the batfamily.”
“They switch who does what route but there is a predictability to it,” Sabrina added. “The idea is to force a confrontation. I’ve gathered evidence to show them so they could understand the gravity.”
“My job is to get us,” Chloe said. “You have plenty of time to come up with one of Disney motivational speeches to get them on board. We leave for Gotham tomorrow.”
It was after midnight. Three girls stood on top of an old condemned building in the heart of Gotham; dressed in black, shivering from the cold.
“By my calculations,” Sabrina said. She held a computer under her arm. “At least two of the bats should be by monitoring the area during this hour.”
“And we’re sure this is going to work?” Marinette asked.
Chloe smirked, “Oh yeah.” She took a deep breath and screamed. “AHHHHHHHH!! Help!! Help! Someone please!!” She gave a fake sob and fell to the ground; causing Marinette to jump back in shock. She looked up at Marinette and Sabrina with a wide grin on her face, “How was that?”
“Become an actress,” Marinette told her. “Let me design the dress you wear when you accept the Oscar.”
There were two loud thuds behind.
“What’s going on?” A tall hero they recognized as Nightwing asked.
“We heard screams,” Red Robin stated.
“Its go time,” Chloe told them as she got up.
Sabrina nodded firmly as she opened up the laptop and started quickly.
Marinette smiled at the heroes, “Hi. My name is Marinette. This is Sabrina and Chloe,” She motioned to her friends. “We’ve come from Paris to seek the aid of Batman to stop a supervillain that has been terrorizing our city.”
Red Robin stepped forward, “A supervillain? In Paris?”
“We haven’t heard anything about it,” Nightwing said. “We know there are heroes there that takedown small-time villain, But nothing too damaging that we’ve seen.”
“Hawkmoth possesses people,” Chloe hissed. “Turns them into monsters. Turns kids into monsters. Literal Babies into monsters. A girl who can control the weather and could end the world.  Another who absorbed energy from people so she could travel back in time. Until the people she steals energy from will freeze and slowly disappear. A man with the power of the Egyptian gods and tried to revive the dead. A villain who could trap people in pictures. Another that can bring people the worst nightmares to life. How about one that caused most of the citizens of the city of Paris to drown. One man caused all that happened. Our city gets destroyed over and over again. People die over and over again. Hawkmoth is behind it all.”
Sabrina turned her laptop to them, and show the video they clipped together. “This is a news real, videos sent from regular smartphones.” The video showed proof of the fights, the monsters, the deaths, the damages, the terror. “Check any new channel centered in Paris. It will show you. This. IS. Real.”
Marinette fought the urge not to tremble as she remembered every villain she fought. “Ladybug fixes the damage the akuma causes; including bringing people back to life. But the people who die still remember. Ladybug can’t do this alone anymore. Even the help of Chat Noir isn’t enough. If Hawkmoth gets what he wants, it could be the end of everything and everyone.” It hadn’t been for a long time, she thought bitterly. Chat Noir loved the glamor and excitement of being a hero but it was like he never really felt the burden of the weight of Paris on his shoulders like she did. To him, it was all game. Or some stupid action movie. And he was too busy trying to get the girl to realize that they might not be able to save the day.
The bluenette looked hard at the heroes, “We need help. I know it’s not your city. I know you don’ have to care. I know you have your own villains and problems.” Tears burned in her eyes. “But we wouldn’t be here if we had other options; if we could handle it by ourselves. So We’re asking anyway. Will you please help us?”
Two identical horrified looks were on the batkids’ faces. Dick and Tim looked at the three kids, thousands of miles away from home, in the middle of the most dangerous city in the world, at night, to beg for help against what sounded like an undeniable monster. The teen girls were scared, near hopeless, and willing to ask for help from Batman and his family, heroes most civilians were too scared to even cross paths with.
Their situation was dire. Direr than the risk of being three, alone, beautiful, teenage girls in Gotham.
The other bats had been listening and or watching the conversation and were equally horrified. But that quickly gave way to fury.
“Red Robin, I want the intel off Sabrina’s computer,” Batman growled. “Oracle, I want everything you can find on Hawkmoth. We’ll start preparing to leave for Paris”
“On it,” Barabra stated. “I also brought up info on the girls. They’re all clean. Sabrina’s dad a cop. Marinette’s an all-star student, who has quite a few famous friends. Chloe’s the daughter of the Style Queen and the Mayor of Paris.”
“I get to kill Hawkmoth, right, B-man?” Jason asked. “I mean, I’m watching a video where he turned a crying baby who literally just wanted a lollipop into Gigantitan and used him to terrorize people. That’s gotta be a free pass on the killing thing.”
There was silence. No answer from Batman.
“Holy shit, are you considering it?” Jason asked stunned. “Kids really are your Achilles’ heel.”
Nightwing nodded. Batman always had a soft spot for kids. But even Dick was considering beating Hawkmoth to death. “Batman has agreed to help.” He told the girls who visibly sighed in relief as weight had come off them.
“May I use your laptop?” Tim asked the redhead. Sabrina nodded quickly and handed it over.
Nightwing observed the girls, “What else can you tell us about Hawkmoth?”
“No one knows his identity, obviously?” Chloe rolled her eyes. “His Allies include another villain named Mayura, identity unknown. And a civilian named Lila Rossi.”
Sabrina still couldn’t believe Lila stooped so low. “We have evidence that she has been willingly working with the known terrorist Hawkmoth and has allowed herself to be akumatized multiple times.” She pushed up her glasses. “She’s in our class. She has been lying and causing emotional distress to multiple students, increasing Akumas.” Lila had always caused the near break up of Ivan and Mylene, Nino and Alya, and for several friendships to nearly be destroyed. It was awful. “We think she will be the best way to finally snuffing out the villain. She has some connection to him we’re trying to figure out.”
“Suspects?” Damian asked in comms. “Stop being obtuse. We need to know who they suspect.”
“Robin, you shouldn’t be on the comms,” Batman reprimanded. “It’s your day off. Relax.”
Tim nodded, “Any leads on Hawkmoth’s identity.”
“Just one,” Marinette admitted. “A man named Gabriel Agreste. But we ruled him out after he was akumartized.”
Chloe snorted, “That’s stupid.” She said. “If Ladybug’s cure can heal the damage of an akuma, including what’s inflicting to her and that Alley Chat; there’s no logical reason, Hawkmoth can’t use his own powers on himself. To think otherwise, would be ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.”
Sabrina agreed, “Or he could’ve gotten Mayura to use it. I mean Ladybug and Chat Noir switched before. Why couldn’t they?”
Red Robin nodded, “That’s a good point. We’ll investigate him further.” He told them. “How much are you involved?”
The girls shared a look. Chloe stepped forward proudly, “I was the Hero, Queen Bee.”
“No!” Marinette said strongly. “She is the Hero Queen Bee; a loyal friend and ally of Ladybug.” She swallowed hard as she fought the nervousness. Tikki and her had talked about what would happen next. Chloe had proven herself as far as two were considered. The blond deserved a real chance to prove she what type of hero she could be.
Marinette took a deep breath and reached into her bag and pulled out a necklace and a hair comb that Chloe recognized instantly. A series of emotions flashed over the blonde’s face; recognition, understanding, disbelief, envy, embarrassment, frustration, acceptance, and then finally a look of admiration.
“Here,” She handed the comb to Chloe and the necklace to Sabrina. The kawami’s floated out.
“My queen,” Pollen purred as she landed on Chloe’s shoulder. The blonde looked ready to cry.
Trixx spun around Sabrina’s head, “Kit. I have new Kitt!”
           The batfamily was just confused.
Marinette straightens up, “Chloe for your show of loyalty, for your dedication to justice, and for your willingness to help from shadows; I name you an official and permanent member of the miraculous team. Keep moving forward. Keeping bettering yourself. I believe in you. And I welcome Queen Bee back.”
“Wha…” Nightwing said only to be cut off by Chloe
She yelled, “Pollen, Buzz On!" And before they’re eyes, she transformed into the hero Queen Bee. “Eat your heart out, boys,” Chloe smirked at the stunned heroes.
Marinette giggled. She focused on Sabrina who now realized exactly what was about to happen. “Sabrina, when Chloe brought you, I didn’t know what to expect. It turned out you had spent months researching and gathering evidence. I didn’t there was proof Lila was working with Hawkmoth willingly, you did. You saw through the lies and deception to find the truth despite the danger it could bring you. Which why I give you the kwami of Illusion.”
Sabrina shakily put on the necklace. Trixx patted her head, “Now say, Trisx let's pounce.” The redhead did as she was told as was instantly transformed into a fox themed hero. Unlike Alya, Sabrina’s look was grey and a startling silver. It was more like an actual combat uniform.
“Truth is neither right nor wrong,” Sabrina stated. “It's not good or evil. It's not light or dark. Truth just is. I am Renarde Gris.”
Marinette smiled and then said, “Tikki, Spots on.” And was transformed into Ladybug. Her suit was different; darker and better armored. “I am Ladybug.” She told the bats. “And I thank you for help.”
Nightwing opened and closed his mouth repeatedly.
Red Robin just pinched his nose, “Did you just make a civilian into a superhero just like that?”
Ladybug tilted her head innocently, “Why? Isn’t that how batman got you?”
           Jason snorted, “She ain’t lying.”
“You were trained before going into the field,” Batman corrected. “You all were. But let’s focus, Ladybug is a child!”
“You’re just a kid,” Nightwing said. “You’ll all just kids.”
Sabrina crossed her arms, “Weren’t you the first Robin? And didn’t you start at like ten-years-old? At least we’re teenagers.”
“And we don’t dress like traffic lights!” Marinette and Chloe snapped together, to their surprise, and then high-fived with a laugh.
Red Robin examined Ladybug in a new light, “You’ve been protective Paris for three years.”
“Alone?” Damian growled in their ears. “Father, you said I was too young. I am the same age as them. I demand to be treated befitting of my status.”
Ladybug shrugged, “The current Robin has protected Gotham on his own many times. He’s even led Teen Titans on missions. He has proven as I have that age is meaningless in the pursuit of justice. “
Nightwing shook his head, “You’re just kids. Robin is just a kid.”
“Tell me, what bothers you more?” She asked. “The line of children that followed in your footsteps. Or that current Robin is better than you ever were.”
“…I love her.” Damian said. “Father, I love her and I will marry her.” It went quiet. “Red Robin, tell her of my affections. Superboy wants Chloe’s number. Spiderman requests Sabrina’s. I still don’t understand, why, you thought a ‘kids’ game night’ was necessary, father?”
           Batman just sighed.
Tim cleared his throat, “Robin would like to, uh, court you.” He said. “Superboy would like Queen Bee’s phone number.” He could wait to tell Conner that Jon had a crush. “Spiderman request Renarde Gris’.”
           The girls all blushed prettily.
“Then he can hero up and ask me himself,” Sabrina smirked in a way that made Chloe proud.
“Same,” Marinette said with a smile. Chloe nodded in agreement.
“…We’re on our way,” Damian said into the comms.
The sigh that answered that statement clearly belonged to Bruce.

out of curiosity what do you think of the characterization of homura in rebellion? i hugely dislike it but get the impression you enjoy it which i think is interesting cuz we seem to have very similar thoughts on homura pre-rebellion (CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG)
THIS IS INTERESTING BECAUSE IT DEPENDS ON WHAT FLAVOR OF REBELLION HOMURA YOU MEAN. i really really like the way she was done in the first half of the movie but as for the twist at the end...? mmm...
...okay, so... i've been thinking about saying this at some point but i keep avoiding it in fear of causing discourse and such bc... this is a really unpopular opinion apparently, but I really do not think devil homura was done properly. read under the cut if you wanna know why i feel this way!
the first issue i'm going to address is that there wasn't NEARLY enough buildup for it. i'm going to explain this from the perspective of a first-time viewer: what would you have thought would happen after the very last scene of rebellion leading up to them breaking homura out of her soul gem? when homulilly got purified and the flowers on her head turned to sakura flowers (y'know, the flowers that symbolize life and rebirth, homura being reborn from her witch)? did you think homura was suddenly gonna undermine madoka's godliness? because, uh, first-view me did not think that at all. and neither did almost anyone i know who watched it for the first time. not only is that poor setup but it's just so sudden and it feels so out of character compared to what we'd seen in the entire series as a whole, especially considering that the entire last part of the movie leading up until that was about purifying her... and saving her... there wasn't enough buildup. most people are like "but the flower scene happened!" but that's still way too vague...? it's hard to tell what conclusion homura comes to at the end, because we don't get to see any of her internal monologue... there is no other buildup after the flower scene... it just skips to homura realizing she's a witch. wouldn't that bring the viewer to think the flower scene was something that made homura realize she was a witch rather than her suddenly starting to form her plan? it always felt like to me the conclusion homura came to at the end of the flower scene was that she was validating madoka's bravery and telling her that if it ever came to that, she'd have the ability to make that hard decision. which is... so... weird? because i always interpreted that as homura coming to terms with what happened? i could just be interpreting it wrong though, but isn't that supposed to be our proof scene? our buildup scene? why would they make it so hard to understand? we need to know such important buildup points just as blatantly as the natural buildup to homura becoming a witch was. that's just from a moviemaking & writing perspective though.
secondly, i'm gonna discuss homura's motive. i actually ended up understanding were she was coming from after a while of being like "what the hell that makes zero sense!!!!". madoka is a 14-year-old girl who, in order to save the fate of every magical girl, literally had to sacrifice herself and erase herself from the world, and in the end, madoka just ended up saving homura again, and that must've made homura feel like her promise with madoka was never fulfilled. it's unfair what happened when you think about it and the law of cycles should not have been run by madoka herself because she, as any other 14 year old, deserves to be happy on earth. although it was said in magireco that madoka felt happy with what she was doing (and she felt like it truly gave her a purpose), she did admit to feeling lonely and homura probably made that assumption big time. but the way the writers went about it just made her seem so sinister... so out-of-character-ly sinister. what with the evil smirking and the deepened, almost... uh, sensual-seeming voice, and homura completely ignoring madoka's fear. it feels like they twisted her character extremely suddenly and it throws the viewer on a loop. they could've gone with that ending without making such drastic and sudden changes to homura's character, and if they were planning on doing that, why did they not give us more buildup? buildup that wasn't extremely cryptic that you have to scan and search every detail to get a clue? something i love about rebellion is that every time you watch you find something new, but how come some of the only clues illuding to devil homura's existence are in the op? it's odd. why didn't they go with something like making the incubators run the law of cycles? they were the ones at fault for causing it to be created. but honestly, the incubators cannot be trusted with anything, which is why it'd make sense for a magical girl to run the law of cycles, but if homura and madoka had the combined power to do so, what if they just remade the law of cycles so it was less unfair to madoka...? i don't know. either of those possibilites would make more sense than what happened.
something else that kind of irks me about it is that they demonized(literally, lol) homura's love for madoka. homura is very much a canon lesbian, and it's incredibly discomforting to me that they made her seem, outwardly to the viewer, so selfish...? please don't get me wrong, i'm not ACTUALLY calling homura selfish -- i know the entire akumura facade is a mask she put on, but like, it's so much more blatantly sinister than she is in the series when she's putting on the coolmura facade. it's going to really confuse the viewer and see every single one of her actions from the entire series in a completely different light, INCLUDING stuff that happened in rebellion itself. like the genuine sadness homura felt, the way we saw into her soul and felt her pain, that genuinely made a lot of people i've seen think that it was ingenuine upon first inspection... they made homura turn "evil" out of her love for madoka, as if it's a bad thing to fall in love, and as if love for another girl was what corrupted her soul gem... i understand that gen urobuchi probably wanted to explore that kind of path where love leads to obsession or whatever, but homura was selfless to a fault, constantly trying to force herself away from the others in order to not get attached, and deeply afraid of seeming creepy and predatory and scaring(she said this herself), which is exactly what she ends up doing at the end, and i feel so awful that they did that to her... how is the viewer supposed to know what her true motives are at that point? it gets all scrambled up after they did that huge plot twist. i'm going to address another thing super quick before people jump in my ask box over this, i understand also that it would make sense for homura to be obsessed with madoka, but in the series, it was never shown in this light, and like i said, if they were going to do this, why'd they even have the purification scene at the end at all? the buildup is all wrong . it also just made me upset that this ending caused SO many people to start literally believing homura is evil because of her actions at the end, and it made people become even more vehement on their beliefs that homura is obsessive and ps*cho...
i was really confused when i watched it for the first time (and also sobbing hysterically, literally, my funniest rebellion story as someone who has genuinely watched the movie 40-ish times, i remember vividly the first time i watched it i started sobbing on my hands and knees on a yoga mat in my mom's room). also like, just to prove my point a teensy bit more, the ending was so ambiguous and out of nowhere that one of the first google results to "madoka magica rebellion" is "madoka magica rebellion ending explained" because it shocked people so much that that was the first thing they needed to google. also, the fact they left us on such a vague cliffhanger and then abandoned the movie series for a total of 8 whole years only to make a sudden comeback in god's holy year of 2021 was almost cruel. LIKE GUYS I JUST FINISHED UP MY DEVIL HOMURA HEADCANONS IT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH!!!
...anyways, um, i really have to address the sexualization. madoka magica, previously, was a series that avoided fanservice in the show, at least, but why did they make akumura's design look like that...? it shows an unsettling amount of skin and like, every three seconds in the end they're focusing intensely on her lips and her eyes and... it's almost like the writers forgot she was 14, but they never seemed to forget that in the series? what happened????? in the transformation scene, we get closeup views of homura's thighs and back and stuff and it's all open everywhere... they made her tights into thigh-highs... in the whole series, even when she went to school, she always wore tights, and she was wearing tights in her magical girl outfit too... they absolutely deliberately did that to sexualize her further so they could make official art with her thighs out. speaking of official art that unsettles me, why does so much of the official art make the whole outfit just glued to her body and you can see all the shading on her features... it's just. ugh. anyways.
i went off a LITTLE too much on this and i know this is probably gonna get me some weird glances in the fandom and i am open to hearing other people's opinions but i don't think i'll ever stop disliking the effect this plot twist had on the fandom's interpretation of homura and although i'm like UNDENIABLY incredibly hyper excited for the next movie, i'm kind of...nervous for what this is going to bring? i don't want this next movie to cause the same amount of discourse the ending of rebellion did and i legit just want to see homura happy. another one of my main issues with the ending is just that homura is SO unhappy when she literally deserves to be happy SOOOOOOO BAD and just take a break from all the loops ... i'm Praying to madokami out there that that's what happens.
i know this is all really funny coming from someone who draws devil homura on a regular basis and literally writes her, but like... i'm a lesbian i'm allowed to<3
ANYWAYS thanks for listening this was a fun ask!!!

You Saved Me - Derek Hale x fem!reader part 6
----------------------
To say that I was doing well after I left Derek’s house would be a lie. I really don’t understand why it hurts so much. We barely knew each other outside of a few encounters. Was it just me that felt the aching in my chest? I want to believe that he felt the same thing, but that seemed selfish. That I wanted him to miss me. That I dreamed of him showing up at my window and begging to see me. But that wouldn’t be real, that was a fantasy. Derek would never act like that. That was just my fantasy.
I promised Stiles I wouldn’t get romantically involved with Derek, but it was more painful than I have ever imagined.
-
I sat in Coach Finstock’s office while the school day went on. Relacing the netting on the crosses that were used in case any of the players broke their own. The repetitive movements were mind numbing so it was probably for the best. I could zone out and not think about Derek.
Tonight was parent teacher conferences for some students who weren’t doing well academically, both Scott and Stiles were a part of that list. But who could blame them? One of them was a werewolf and the other was friends with the aforementioned werewolf. The weeks seemed to run together, it didn’t even feel like autumn yet, but we were halfway to winter.
I had stayed away like I promised. The only times I even heard about Derek was from what Scott told Stiles. They were both planning on finding the alpha and taking him down together. That would be good for him. Good for both of them. I have been feeling so many emotions since then. A lot of anxiety and anger. But they never felt like my own. I sighed and rested my eyes for a minute, the repeated movements slowing my brain down enough to sleep on Coach’s desk.
The man in front of me was badly burned, one side of his face was pink and muddled, much of his hair was burned on that side.
“I need your help.” Derek’s voice echoed, “If you can hear me, I need you to give me a sign. Blink. Raise a finger. Anything. Just… Just something to point me in the right direction, okay?” The man, his Uncle Peter, stayed in the same position.
He sighed, “Someone killed Laura. Your niece, Laura? Whoever he is, he’s an Alpha now… but he’s one without a pack, which means he’s not as strong. I can take him. But, I have to find him first.” Still no response.
“Look, if you know something, just give me a sign. Is it one of us? Did someone else make it out of the fire?”
Still getting no response, he became agitated, “Just give me anything! Blink! Raise a finger! Anything!” He growled, reaching for the man, “SAY SOMETHING”!
“Hey.” I jolted at the sound of Finstock’s voice. He stood in the doorway of his office.
“You alright, kid?” He asked, his eyes went from my face to the crosse that I was aggressively fixing the net on. What was that? Was I… seeing what Derek was seeing? No, that was impossible. Insane even.
“Uh, yeah. I’m fine.” I went back to relacing, tugging the knots taut and reaching for a lighter to burn the ends of the string so they wouldn’t unravel.
“Do I need to kick his ass?” He asked, his large eyes looking a little more crazy than usual. He was trying to seem threatening, but I wasn’t threatened by his booming voice and looks anymore. He was alluding to someone not treating me right but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
I chuckled a little, “No. It’s not his fault. He’s going through a lot right now.” I stood up and placed the crosse in the spare locker with the rest of them, “Besides, I probably shouldn’t be dating considering the last guy I was dating murdered my parents and tried to murder me.” The humor was dark, but what a way to cope.
“Any news on that guy?” He stood up straight, walking to his desk.
“Nope. I think he skipped town. He’s the feds' problem now.”
“Does Stiles want to be a doctor?” He changed the subject, he was looking at a paper in his hand.
“Uh… Not that I know of.” I shrugged.
“Because he wrote a detailed history of male circumcision on his economics test.”
-
I got out late, well past the time the student teacher meetings were over. Filing records, grading a couple things for Finstock and ordering more pearls for the upcoming games since we were running low. These days really run together, especially when you’re trying to forget most of the year that happens.
Speaking of happening, was I really seeing the same thing Derek could? It didn’t make sense. They were just random dreams. Like the one the other day where Derek was speaking to this woman about how she didn’t kill his sister. That was just a dream. But… Why could I feel sadness? Sadness, guilt and pain.
I got home, seeing that Stiles’ Jeep was nowhere in sight meaning that he was off to do more werewolf nonsense with Scott. I trusted Scott to keep him safe, but that didn’t mean I wanted Stiles running around where there was an alpha on the loose.
That night I made dinner, ate, saved two plates for Uncle Noah and Stiles and sat in the living room. They were running a story on another body that had been found. A bus driver killed in an animal attack. They were calling it a mountain lion. A mountain lion was more likely than a werewolf normally. But here we are. Officially werewolf capital of the world. I turned off the TV and laid back on the cushions, closing my eyes. Maybe a couch nap would relax me a little, it would kill my back in the morning, but I would be able to tell when Stiles came home.
Scott and Stiles were walking towards me across the school lawn, playfully pushing each other.
“I’m gonna kill both of you.” Derek’s voice said, “What the hell was that? What are you trying to do, attract the entire state to the school?” He was frustrated and angry, but also a little scared. Finding the alpha is what he needed to do, at the same time though, this person got the jump on Laura.
“Sorry…I didn’t know it would be that loud…” Scott said sheepishly.
“Yeah, it was loud… And it was awesome!” Stiles cheered.
“Shut up.” Derek barked.
“Don’t be such a sour wolf.” Stiles mocked.
“What’d you do with him?” Scott asked, looking around me.
“What?” Derek asked, I turned to see an empty backseat, “I didn’t do anything…” I saw Scott and Stiles’ eyes widen as pain exploded through my back. Blood gushed from my mouth as I was lifted up. I was coughing and choking on my own blood. Pain and fear were running through me, my heart pumping so quickly causing more and more blood to gush from my mouth. The last thing I saw was the world rushing by me as I was thrown towards the school wall.
I woke up before I made impact. My heart was racing and my back ached. I reached behind myself awkwardly. The only thing I felt was the raised bumpy scar from my stab wound. So it was just a dream, but it felt so real. So…Was it real? Did I just experience Derek…
I looked up at the clock and saw it was well into the early morning. I got up and made my way upstairs, Stiles’ door was slightly open and there was still light inside. I just went in, panic already starting to build in my chest. Stiles was sitting at his computer, he turned and looked up. He looked like he had a long night.
“Stiles, is…” I swallowed thickly, “Is Derek d-…Dead?” My lip was trembling. He opened his mouth to answer then closed it.  He avoided my eyes.
“I really don’t know.” He explained what happened at the school that night. How the alpha attacked them and chased them around the school and that when they got out, Derek’s body was gone.
“I don’t know if he crawled off somewhere or if the alpha dragged him away before the cops showed up. But I’m pretty sure I won’t have to go back to school until Monday. We tried to blow the alpha up. And we also kinda blamed Derek for it.”
I shook my head and chuckled, “Nice. Throwing a dead man under the bus, after all he’s done for me.”
“It wasn’t my idea!” He shouted in a hushed tone, “We thought he was dead for sure. But now I don’t know. Besides, we couldn’t give up the big secret to a hunter’s daughter, a dick, and Lydia who has been through enough already.” I nodded and left the room. He called after me but I couldn’t be in the room anymore. Just… they could have blamed anyone. A rabid animal even, but they were blaming Derek. I closed the door and leaned against it, slowly sliding down until I met the floor. My chest felt tight and I wanted to cry. I had cried so much lately I didn’t know if I could. My emotions were running so high and it was so confusing? Why was everything so different?
-
It was Monday morning and tonight was another full moon, meaning Scott was jumpy and could turn at any moment. The night before they had gone off to “hang” but Stiles was really bad at hiding the alcohol he had taken to get drunk with Scott.
I was eating cereal at the kitchen table when Stiles came down. He was groaning and definitely hungover.
“Booze doesn’t pay, does it?” I smiled.
“You’re more chipper than usual.” He grimaced a bit, holding his head.
“Not chipper, just really good at fakin’ it.” I went in for another spoonful. He looked away, hearing Uncle Noah coming through the kitchen on his phone.
“We are watching his family’s house. Maybe he’ll wind up there?” Uncle Noah looked up, seeing Stiles, “Give me a second.”
“Don’t you have a test to get to?” He asked.
“What’s going on? Did you find Derek yet?” Stiles asked, more pep in his voice.
“I’m working on it. You go take your test.” He said firmly.
“All right, Dad, listen to me-” Stiles stood up.
“Go!” He shouted, I had never heard him shout before.
“This is really important! You have to be careful tonight, okay? Especially tonight.”
“Stiles, I’m always careful.”
“Dad, you’ve never dealt with this kind of thing before, okay? At least, not like this.”
“I know. Which is why I brought in people who have. State detective. Go take your test.” Stiles grumbled but grabbed his book bag and left the house. Uncle Noah sighed and went back to his phone call as he followed Stiles out the door.
-
Later on in the day, Stiles texted me. He probably shouldn’t be, especially with his test.
STILES: Scott had a panic attack about Allison. He said he might kill someone.
I sighed, my thumbs dancing over the phone screen.
(Y/N): Then we’ll chain him up so he can’t get out. I’ll pick up some chains at the hardware store.
-
After a stop at the hardware store, I got to the lacrosse fields where Coach Finstock was looking over a list.
“How’s the pink-eye epidemic?” I asked. He rolled his eyes.
“Real good, half of my players had to go on the bench. Goddammit, Greenberg.” I looked over the list.
“Who’s Bilinski?” I squinted at his sloppy writing.
“That one.” He pointed his pen towards Stiles.
“You put Stiles on the first line?” I smiled, perhaps my subtle hints had worked.
“Yeah, and we made McCall co-captain.”
I blew air out of my mouth, “I’m sure Jackson shit a brick.”
He shook his head, “Yeah, he’s not taking it well.”  I shrugged and made my way over to the bench where Scott and Stiles were in the middle of a conversation. I didn’t join, just listened in.
“Yeah, she likes you. She’s totally into you.” Scott smirked. Stiles grinned, clearly excited. The She in this scenario could be none other than Lydia Martin. But there was something about Scott’s tone that threw me off. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lydia making her way to her seat in the bleachers, pulling out a compact mirror and fixing her lipstick. I didn’t want to believe that Scott would do that to his friend, but the facts were pointing towards it.
Practice seemed to be going well, that is until Scott got pushed over during a practice run. I could practically feel his anger from across the field.
“All right, you’re up, big boy! Let’s go!” Coach called. Scott retaliated this by knocking into another player, and sending him hard on his back. I winced, intaking a breath through my teeth.
“That’s it, McCall! That’s the spirit! You earn it! Earn it, McCall!” Coach grinned. Maybe this is why we had so many players on the bench. Coach could see victory when Scott played. It was Stiles' turn on the offensive against Scott. With the full moon so close, I don’t think their friendship would do Stiles any favors, he shoved Stiles away just as hard and fast as the other player. Each time he got a goal. The next player, Danny, also was a victim of werewolf rage since Scott hit him in the face, sending him to the ground. I grabbed Coach’s whistle and blew it, calling for the play to pause.
I jogged up to Danny and knelt down, some other players surrounded as well.
“Danny, can you hear me?” He nodded slowly, holding his bleeding nose. I stood up, “Take him to the bench guys.” I walked back over to Stiles and Scott.
“Everybody likes Danny. Now everybody’s gonna hate you.”
“I don’t care.” Scott said smugly. Stiles shook his head and went back to the benches.
“What the hell is your problem? You make co-captain and it goes to your head.” I shoved his shoulder. He breathed out, his eyes glowed yellow
“You don’t want to mess with me right now.”
I narrowed my eyes, “Is that a threat?” He smirked, his eyes going up and down my body.
“It could be.” I looked at him in disgust.
“First Lydia and now me? You’re a really shitty friend, Scott.” I made my way back to Stiles who was staring back at the bleachers. Jackson and Lydia were talking.
“He did it.” He whispered. I squeezed his arm lightly. It was going to be a long night.
-
That night, Stiles and I went to the McCall’s house to get prepared for the full moon. Stiles carried a duffle bag to the best of his ability, even though it had the steel chains  and locks I had bought. One of the only reasons I came was so if I needed to I could get him out quickly. The other was because I didn’t know how he would react to the situation with Lydia. Stiles unlocked the door and went inside. Did Mrs. McCall know he had a key?“
Scott?” We heard her call. Mrs. McCall turned the corner and saw us in the hallway. She was in her scrubs, probably going in for a late night shift.
“Stiles.”
“And (Y/N).” I waved.
“Ah.” Her eyes went to Stiles' hand, she pointed, “Key.”
“Oh, yeah, I had one made.” Well, that answers that question.
“That doesn’t surprise me. It scares me, but it doesn’t surprise me” And then, like a buffoon, Stiles dropped the duffel bag with a heavy thud.
“What is that?”
“Uh, school project.” He lied. Mrs. McCall, who either believed the lie or just wanted to change the subject, asked: “He’s okay, right?”
“Who, Scott? Yeah, totally.” Stiles lied.
“He just doesn’t talk to me, not much anymore. Not like he used to.” She said somberly. I could only imagine that’s how my mom felt when I went into high school and into a phase where parents were uncool.
“Well, he had a bit of a rough week.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I get it. Yeah. Um, okay. Uh, be careful tonight.”
“You, too.”
“Full moon.” She looked out the window. Stiles and I stiffened.
“What?”
“There’s a full moon tonight. You should see how the ER gets. Brings out all the nutjobs.”
“Oh.” He breathed out, both of our shoulders dropped.
“Yeah…” She said awkwardly.
“Right…”
“You know, it’s, um, actually where they came up with the word "lunatic.”
-
We opened the door to Scott’s room. Stiles dropped the duffel and turned on the lights. We both jumped when we saw Scott sitting in his computer chair.
“Oh my god.” I put a hand on my chest, trying to catch my breath.
“Dude, you scared the hell out of us. Your mom said you weren’t home.”
“I came in through the window.” he said blankly. Stiles and I shared a glance.
“Okay, um, let’s get this set up.” Stiles bent down to get into the duffel bag that was near the radiator, “(Y/N) got the heavy duty stuff.” I kept my distance from Scott, staying right by the door, ready to grab Stiles and book it.
“I’m fine,” Scott said, causing us both to stare, “I’m just gonna lock the door and turn in early.” We all knew a door wouldn’t stop him, he had other plans in mind.
“Are you sure?” Stiles asked, “Cause you got this kinda serial killer look goin’ on in your eyes. I’m hopin’ it’s the full moon taking effect cause it’s starting to freak me out.”
“I’m fine.” Scott repeated, “You should both go home.”
“Alright, we’ll leave.” He stood up then stopped, clearly trying to put his back up plan into motion, ‘Well would you at least look in the bag and see what we bought? You know, maybe you use it, maybe you don’t.”
“Just in case you’re feeling a little anxious.” I smiled. Scott got up and walked to the duffel bag. He bent down and pulled out the thick, metal chains.
“You’re thinking I would put these on? Chain me up like a dog?” He snarled and dropped the chains.
“Actually, no.” Stiles quickly pulled out a pair of handcuffs from his pocket and slapped him on Scott’s wrist, chaining him to the heater. I grabbed the back of his shirt and pulled him away when Scott lunged.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Scott growled.
“Protecting you from yourself.” Stiles sighed and glared, “And giving you payback. For making out with Lydia.” And there it was. Maybe I should have checked the bag for other items he bought. He went downstairs, leaving me and Scott in the bedroom.
“(Y/N), uncuff me!” He struggled.
I shook my head, “Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t. I don’t have the key.”
He lunged and growled, causing me to jump. I looked away, embarrassed that I was showing him that I was afraid. But I was afraid. I’ve known this kid practically his entire life and he was turning into a completely different and dangerous person.
“You like that? Hmm?” He hummed suggestively. I shook my head, talking to him was probably going to just make things worse. Thankfully, Stiles had come back…with a dog bowl.
“I brought you some water.” He said, pouring water from a bottle into the bowl and setting it down in front of Scott.
“I’M GONNA KILL YOU” Scott roared and threw the bowl at Stiles.
“Stiles…” I whispered. The situation was getting dangerous.
“You kissed her, Scott! Okay? You kissed Lydia. And that’s my…The one girl that I have-'' Stiles shook his head, “You know, for the past three hours, I’ve been thinking it’s probably just the full moon, you know? He doesn’t even know what he’s doing and tomorrow he’ll be back to normal. He probably won’t even remember what a complete dumbass he’s been. A son of a bitch. A frickin’ unbelievable piece of crap friend.”
“She kissed me.” Scott interrupted.
“What?” Stiles looked so betrayed.
Scott grinned menacingly, “I didn’t kiss her, she kissed me.” Stiles glared and walked out of the room, I followed behind.
“She had her hands all over me, she would have done anything I wanted! ANYTHING!” Scott’s voice rang through the house. Stiles paced back and forth outside the door.
“Stiles?” Scott called through the door, “Please let me out. It’s the full moon, I swear! You know I wouldn’t do any of this on purpose. Stiles, let me out. This is starting to hurt. You said it, Stiles, it’s the full moon. It’s Allison breaking up with me. It’s not just a break, she broke up with me. It’s killing me! I’m feeling hopeless. Just let me out.” Stiles paused, looking towards the door. I looked him in the eye, shaking my head.
“He’s just trying to make you feel bad.”
Stiles nodded, “I can’t.” He called.
“No! No no no!” Scott shouted, followed by screaming. And then silence. Stiles opened the door, Scott was gone. Only broken handcuffs remained. I grabbed a set of chains and started going downstairs.
“Stiles, stay here.”
“(Y/N)!” He called, grabbing my arm before I went out the door.
“Stay put.” I glared, shutting the door behind me. Scott was a sweet kid normally. But if I needed to keep Stiles safe and if that meant knocking out a couple of his teeth then I would. I went around back to his window and followed the path of broken grass into the woods. I gripped onto the chains tightly, ready to swing if I needed to. My plan had been to knock him out and chain him to a tree. Not sure how well that would work though.
I stopped in a clearing, having lost the trail. Behind me a twig snapped. I’ve always been an act first, ask questions later in these situations. I swung the chain, cracking Scott across the face. My eyes widened at the state of him. Like Derek, he had coarse hair growing down his cheeks, the bridge of his nose was scrunched up and appeared more animal like, his brow bone protruded. His jawline though? Still weird.
Scott’s head had swung to the side with the chain, he looked back slowly, and glared as he spit blood onto the ground. The scrape on his cheek healed almost immediately.
Ha ha, I’m in danger.
“Scott.” I said cautiously, taking a slow step back, “You know me. I’m your friend.” He wasn’t moving closer, but he also hadn’t stopped looking at me with his glowing yellow eyes like I was food.
“So, uh, you blow off your steam. Do some running, clear your head, that good stuff. And I will see you tomorrow. Okay?” I smiled nervously, he didn’t answer, “Okay.” Now it was time to run since I had gotten myself a decent head start. I turned and ran, hearing a roar and footsteps behind me. I threw the chains back over my head, hoping to trip him or hit him in the head. That didn’t seem to do much since he didn’t slow down.
All at once I was body slammed to the ground and turned on my back. Scott was sitting on top of me, leaning down he roared loudly in my face. His large pointed canines shone in the moonlight.
I screamed, shoving and kicking at him, “SCOTT! SCOTT PLEASE!” He thrusted a clawed hand down towards my chest that I barely caught. He seemed slightly confused, but pushed down. I whined, using everything I had keeping his sharp claws from my chest. I couldn’t even breathe.
“Scott, please don’t hurt me.” I begged through my teeth. He roared again, raising his other arm to strike when something flashed across my vision. Whatever it was, it knocked Scott off of me. I gasped for air, my lungs and  muscles were screaming at me. The two began to fight, growling and snarling. I sat up, scrambling to get out of the direction of the brawl. I couldn’t see much in the dark since the clouds had covered the moon, but whoever it was got Scott on the ground, roaring down at him. The other stood up straight just as the moon’s light peaked through. And there stood Derek Hale - tall, proud, and very much alive.
